Writeblr ReIntro!
I'm posting a new intro because now that I've been on Writeblr a little while, I realize how much information I left out! Hi, I'm Stephanie, I live in the desert with my husband and baby and three cats, and I'm an ace, bipolar fantasy writer! When I was a kid, they said I had ADHD but then I got my Masters degree in biology, so they claim I can't have it. Online tests say I'm probably autistic.
I used to write sci fi twelve years ago but only low tech sci fi about weird aliens, which nobody likes. Now I write fantasy novels! Lots of fantasy novels! I am beginning to post them on my website so if you want to read them, please keep an eye on this post.
My books often but not always have some romance (either m/f or f/f because I prefer female protagonists.) Since I'm ace (and demiromantic), my interpretation of romance and attraction is not exactly what you'd expect from, say, a romance novel.
I am not going to tell you about all my books! I've written eighteen! Four of them are shelved forever! Here's some recent ones (written or revised since 2018) that I haven't given up on. Please ask me questions about them! I LOVE talking about my books! Also, if you want to be added to my taglist for writing samples let me know! Please also tell me if you're interested in alpha or beta reading and for which book! Mutuals only, please!
My books are beneath the cut! As I add WIP intros, I'll update this list with links.
Cast Out
YA fantasy! On her sixteenth birthday, Zisha is cast out of the Plenary Cities for the crime of being born deaf, like her grandmother before her. In the wastelands, she meets Thesil, a depressed and bitter young woman. Zisha wants nothing to do with her — until she sees Thesil's face in a vision. But before she can find out what the visions mean or reach her grandmother's holdings in the wastes, the plague returns to the Plenary Cities. If the disabled really caused the plague thirty years ago, and were cast out to stop the spread, how can it be back when all of them are outcast?
Status: Finished. Being serialized.
WIP intro here.
Now being serialized here. First five chapters up, one posted weekly.
The Bone Queen
This is my NA fantasy about the aftermath of freeing an undead queen and her skeleton army. They take over the kingdom, of course! The main character, Elise, is trapped in Bandrum palace by Aubrey, the ghost who tricked her into falling in love and freeing him (plus everyone else.) He's an animated skeleton now with plans to marry Elise and force her to carry his children. The bone queen has promised him she'll make it happen. Too bad no one cares what Elise wants. If only she had magic of her own...
Status: undergoing a rewrite after developmental edit. Was 109k before revisions. Not available for beta reading.
Draft number? Hahahaha. It has two complete sequels (The Spellbound King (106k) and The Matriarch's Daughter (96k)) I must also rewrite. This series is going to kill me but I love it. My mom, who loves everything I write, complained that it was weird. I'm very proud.
WIP intro here.
First chapter here.
School of Souls
This is my YA contemporary fantasy about a boarding school in the Bighorn Mountains! It's supposed to be a place parents can send "bad" teens to have their problems sorted out, but secretly the founder is using it to train the kids as sorcerers. Even more secretly, the school devours the souls of the students sent there, and the teenagers who graduate aren't the same as the ones who arrived... Warning: does include teenage addiction to sleeping pills and ghosts and and parental death. It's going to have sequels but I haven't written them yet.
Status: Complete first draft. 83k. Available for alpha reading.
WIP intro here.
First chapter here.
The Many-faced Princess
This is YA fantasy with a historical vibe but set in a made up world. Vaguely inspired by ancient Phoenicia. It's about Princess Ameryi, who was blessed by the genderless trickster god, Akihel, to be able to change her face. If her father the king ever found out, he'd have to execute her, of course. Akihel is just plain evil. All the other gods say so. A daughter who's their champion? Impossible. An abomination. So Ameryi will just have to make sure her father never finds out. That was easier to do before the Asirtinsa Empire threatened to invade and her father sent her to secure an alliance with a neighboring king. She's supposed to marry him. Not steal his face and frame him for murder. But sometimes plans just don't work out.
This book was supposed to be about two lesbian princesses who frame the king for murder so they can elope, but both princesses decided to be ace and there was nothing I could do.
Status: Complete first draft. 83k. It's going to have sequels but I haven't written them yet. Available for alpha reading.
First chapter here.
Map here.
Court Phoenix
This is my NA fantasy! Kerra is a blacksmith's apprentice. Not because she wants the job, but because her mother sold her future to him when she was still a toddler who crawled into live fires and giggled as the flames consumed her clothes. Now she's a woman, trapped by the expectations of her family and her village. Until one day, a phoenix crash-lands and dies in her arms. When it's reborn, it chooses Kerra as its keeper. Soon, her dreary future is swept away. A princess from Skyfire, the moving city, offers her a job in the royal court. How could Kerra refuse? Her family's claims that she'll die if she ever leaves the village are just manipulative lies. Aren't they?
Status: Complete third draft. 104k. Available for beta reading.
First chapter here.
The Revenant Trilogy
Adult fantasy. Solving a murder should bring good fortune, but all it brings Mindral Thideet is disaster. Her fame and peaceful life as head researcher at the city of knowledge end abruptly. In retaliation for her investigation into his crimes, Payar Cheref, the head of the powerful Cheref family, burns her beloved cousins alive and scars her face. The scar marks her as a revenant, a body possessed by a godkin, one of the gods' evil children. Her life as a researcher is over. All that's left is revenge.
No one believes her when she denies that godkins have any power over her. But godkins, real ones, are far closer than she realizes. Tearing down Payar Cheref could destroy Mindral, her family, and the nation itself.
-The Halfway Revenant (rewriting draft 4) 120k. Not available for beta reading.
-The Soul-Seer (draft 2) - 130k
-The Godkin's Gambit (draft 2) 121k
First chapter here.
As Immortality Fades
Adult fantasy. Five hundred years ago, one of the immortal and unpredictable Valteifur visited the kingdom of Kathild and granted the young queen Nelone immortality. But there was a catch. She'd live forever, youthful and strong, just so long as her subjects were happy. For centuries, she's met her part of the deal. But when the Valteifur returns to check on her progress, he grants her a new gift: the resurrection of every single person in Kathild who's died in the last two hundred years. Then he disappears.
There aren't enough houses for them all. There's not enough food. And winter is here.
Status: Complete first draft. 98k. Available for alpha reading.
Bi MC, enemies to lovers.
First chapter here.
Stitches and Memories
This one's adult fantasy. Antea's father ripped her mind apart, left her for dead, and vanished twelve years ago, and she's going to find out why. But when constables try to kill her and strange truth magic grows inside of her, hunting her father starts to look like suicide. Too bad going home isn't an option.
Status: I exchanged this with a critique partner and now it embarrasses me. Fourth draft. 122k. Available for beta reading.
Trigger warning: magic seizures
First chapter here.
WIP intro here.
Triangle Park
Contemporary Fantasy. I have no idea who it's for. An elf exiled to the middle of nowhere ends up stuck with an unexpected child. It's about reluctant parenting and protecting the needy. And elves and faeries slumming it in a mobile home.
Status: Complete first draft. 86k. Available for alpha reading.
First chapter here.
Mud-Child
Adult fantasy. Rebeka has always heard that a woman who goes through menopause loses her spark (the magic that lets her create children). If she's had children, it just makes the neighbors a little more fertile. But Rebeka never wanted a man, and she never wanted to raise a child. Not since her twin sister died and her beloved Suza left her for a man. The problem is, the spark leaves a childless woman differently, everyone says. A bitter hag? She'll curse her neighbors. A sweet dim biddie? She'll give her spark to inanimate objects and create a monster. Rebeka doesn't know which she is, but she believes it's a myth.
That was before the clay in her clay pit woke up and called her mother.
Status: Third draft. 109k. Needs a rewrite! Not available for beta reading.
First chapter here.
WIP intro here.
I GUESS I'M WRITING A NEW BOOK
The Giant's Gamble

Introducing my Writeblr!
About me:
Hello!
I'll introduce myself as Rin (she/her), I'm 24 years old as of this moment and I've been writing as a hobby ever since I was a little child. I'm not new to Tumblr, I've been here for more than a decade, but I've never ventured into being more than a lurker.
I've had a really big writing break for a while because of mental health issues and a bad environment, but I've started doing better recently. By creating a Writeblr, I hope it will help me with fully committing to a lengthy project so that I can fulfill my wish of becoming a published writer.
I listen to music all the time and it helps me a lot with getting inspiration or getting me in the mood to write. I mostly read books within the fantasy genre, and I do the same with writing. I also play Dungeons & Dragons, proudly being a Dungeon Master for three campaigns at the moment.
About my writing:
I love creating characters and studying their behaviors while I think or write about them, my general focus being Trauma™. Wordbuilding is also one of my best brainstorming qualities. I used to write for my D&D characters and NPCs, and I've also posted a few fanfiction pieces on AO3 in an anime fandom.
My WIPs:
I've currently started brainstorming for my very first book project! The idea is very rough right now but I want it to be high fantasy, with emphasies on Gods, prophecies, magic and its consequences and a lot of character growth. I am still thinking about including romance, but as it is still in the early developement process, I haven't decided on anything. Update: the WIP is called Godsfallen!
I also plan on brainstorming for an east-asian mythology book (wuxia), but I haven't made enough research to focus on that one for now.
Conclusions:
I will most likely want to post a lot of my brainstorming ideas on here, as well as writing snippets or character details. If you want to see anything like that, please feel free to follow me (I will follow back)! I'm down to hear about your WIPs and I'd love to build a small group of creative friends where we could freely talk about what our brain is cooking.
I want this blog to be a space for writing, so I hope you will join me on my journey!
Thank you if you took time to read all of this! See you around!!

A proper writeblr introduction
Tumblr media
Hello people, you can call me Cosmo. I’m not a spacial doggy, no matter what the gossip says (I'm gonna turn this sentence in my new tagline). I have been around here for a while but I had never dared to do an introduction until now.
What can I say about me? I'm a Spaniard, my home is in Galician. I started to write in English to learn the language but I found out that I liked it.
I'm searching for other amateur writers. I'm really into urban fantasy, specially shapeshifters (you know, werewolves. I haven't gotten over Teen Wolf yet) and romance (with bi character is always better).
I have another blog for NSFW stories: @hotcosmo
My WIPS
Wolf Trip (My current WIP):
Senior year, the last chance to discover your true self before adult life. Jon was ready to enjoy it with epic plans: getting a spot on the basketball team, figuring out what university would be his new place the next fall, and of course, finding the absolute perfect prom date. But, seriously, since when do the plans of a seventeen-year-old boy work out as expected? Instead of parties and dealing with his new status like one of the popular kids, Jon found himself facing the fact that he's not your average human anymore. Romulo, the hot and strong young wolf who decided that Jon's essence was too irresistible not to spice up it with a little bite, had to deal with an emotional teen with a very aggressive newborn inside while they had to sprint across America to find a safe place where Jon can learn how to live in a world bigger than before. A world full of new creatures and magic where your position in the food chain may not be what you expected.
The Imperial Sorceress (complete):
Lady Dominica, High Sorceress of the Empire and the eldest of his coven, and his apprentice Ludovica have to confront a powerful semi-divine creature never seen before in imperial lands which is destroying the military forces of the empire and find out why the creature is helping the alliance of the Southern kingdoms to conquer the city of Lorencia.
Midnight rituals, season 1:
"A witch, a vampire, a werebear, and a human are in a clearing in the middle of a forest…" This could be the beginning of a bad joke or of a riddle; however, the witch was summoning an ancient demon while the human tried to avoid it; the witch and the vampire were in love but they fight more than anything else, and the werebear, well, he is there being a very handsome guy and tried to no one ended up dead. The peace of the small town of Santo Hills (Pennsylvania) is in danger and only the hardly credible team of four supernatural teenagers has some opportunity to avoid a massacre in the town.
Dylan, season 1:
"Do you know this feeling of whatever you do, you're going to fuck it? For me, it's not a feeling it's my day-to-day. Hooking up with someone older, yelling at my social worker, or kissing a girl for whom I feel nothing is only a small part of my problems. The big part is my powers which my family knows nothing about. Fuck, I don't know how I survive until graduation. I should talk to them, should I? Ahhh, fucking l…"
Malicious Wood:
"After Ragnarök, paradise emerged, Yggdrasil blossomed from its ashes, and a new pantheon was constructed, ushering in a new era. But time passed and nothing in this world was created to be at peace forever. Asktré accompanied by his sons Lunnec and Fenrir, return home after an arduous and fruitless journey. Against Aktré's wishes, they are unexpectedly drawn into the investigation of a series of mysterious murders in Odinia, Midgar. Could an Ashman and two hybrids discover the truth behind these heinous crimes? Malicious Wood serves as an enthralling introduction to New Yggdrasil a world base on Norse mythology post-Ragnarök where the delicate balance between Realms is starting to change. Can those born of an old world save a new one?"

joy list tag
I was tagged by the lovely, amazing @mysticstarlightduck! Thank you so much!! <3333
Rules: Make a list of all of the things that have made you happy recently! Then, tag as many people as you want that you think may need it to keep the positivity going ✨
D&D!!! This game is my special interest, so it's no surprise that it's my favorite part of my week. We had really long roleplay sessions for my Friday campaign last night, and the party finally got to learn a few things about Cyra, plus she got some... interesting news about her old gang... And tomorrow for my (usually) Saturday campaign I get to traumatize my poor boy Rook some more! (Poor man really is my punching bag... he's already been through so much...)
Playing video games! I bought Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous on January 1st, and I've played 98.3 hours since then, and am enjoying it immensely. I just hit level 20 yesterday! Cannot recommend this game enough, especially to people who liked BG3.
Seeing pictures of my parents' cats! My mom just got a new kitten a little over a week ago, and I'm so obsessed with her, I can't wait to meet her! And my dad's cats are still being their adorable, weird selves, and I want to see them again soon.
Watching Critical Role! I'm inching ever closer to the end of Campaign 1, and I'm not ready for it to be over. I can't decide if this ending will devastate me more than the ending of Campaign 2. On one hand, I preferred C2 overall, but on the the other, my favorite character dies at the end of C1. But either way, I love this silly little show, and it brings me so much joy. Watching Campaign 2 was literally a life-changing experience for me.
Daydreaming about my OCs! Even if I haven't been able to write lately, at least playing around with scenarios for them in my head at night while I'm trying to sleep brings me joy. These silly little guys (gender neutral) are truly the lights of my life. (This does include my D&D characters, btw.)
Buying books! While I was home over winter break I bought 7 books, and just yesterday I ordered 9 more, including a few from some writeblr people! I'm excited to read them whenever I get the chance.
Finding new music! In the past week I got really obsessed with Arrows In Action's latest album (Built To Last), and then WE MADE PLANS AND GOD LAUGHED by Beauty School Dropout came around and put me in a chokehold. It's fun finding new music that I like, and I'm excited to share it with my mom when I get a chance.
Getting tagged in posts / getting asks here on tumblr! This website is my only form of social media, and I truly adore all of the friends I've made on here. Even if I haven't done the thing you tagged me in, or I haven't answered your ask, the fact that you even thought to tag me or send me one makes me so happy.
I'm going to make this an open tag!! If you want to do this and/or need a reason to remember the good things in life, please feel free to say I tagged you!!!

Writer Q&A Tag Game
Thank you so much @mthollowell-writes for the tag! I loved reading your answers and this was fun to fill out :)
1) What motivates you to write?
Mostly my mind cannot stop thinking of Situations. Whether they're for characters from my current TV/film hyperfixations or my own OCs, writing is the best way for me to get it out of my system and the artistic form I'm the best at.
2) A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)
From Where Paradise Died and Lived:
Sophie was just about draw her hand away, and perhaps he felt the pressure lessening, for then he brought his own hand up to cover hers, to keep her from moving it. He held her hand there, his fingers curling just barely under hers, not with any force but with a lightness she had just been administering to him. And underneath it, a reassurance that seemed to communicate he wanted something that quickened her heart. She knew if she proceeded here, she would be crossing a line she had thought she wouldn’t cross for a long time yet. She finally raised her gaze to meet his, and all sense escaped her—his eyes looked like the way she felt, all the encouragement she needed. A little bit scared, a little bit in love, she kissed him.
3) Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?
Honestly, I haven't gotten to write a lot of him yet, but I have a soft spot for Fendley. He believes passionately in the Velitovan cause and wants to fight for its independence...but he's also the biggest homebody and hates being away from Merity. The two parts of his personality are just direct contradictions to each other, it makes me laugh.
4) What process of writing do you enjoy the most?
Character building: creating a backstory, personality, aesthetic, all that good stuff
5) What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)
Describing inner turmoil? When I look at the passages I'm most proud of, they all have to do with an internal dialogue of some kind, usually in a situation with heightened tension or vulnerability where a character has a lot going on in their mind.
6) What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?
Making friends with everyone! The support system is a huge motivator and definitely something that keeps me going.
7) A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)
Scrivener, my beloved. I was working in Evernote for way longer than I ever should have and was getting just so sick of it that I finally took the plunge to get Scrivener. Night and day comparison. There are so many great tools and functions and I love being able to have one document for a WIP and its outline, characters, worldbuilding, everything. It's definitely pricey up front, but in the long run worth it since it's just a one-time purchase. Highly recommend giving it a trial run to anyone interested.
8) A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)
I really love the country of Velitova, especially the lands beyond the Idylwild. In-universe they're written off as being sort of rural, but the nature out there is so beautiful and pristine. Huge rolling hills, a huge lake surrounded by flowering trees, cliffs facing a wild ocean...yes.
9) What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?
Stop writing: Whether it's a for a few days or a few months, taking a break from my WIPs and re-setting my mind whenever I am struggling is always the best solution.
Return to worldbuilding: I've seen a lot of people discuss how we get desensitized to the cool things in our WIPs after a while. Creating more cool things that will be new to me as well often makes my WIP exciting again.
Get outside: Traveling always inspires me, but I find even walking around your neighborhood can be so helpful! I especially walking among trees in the fall, that air of melancholy during that time of year just gets me.
10) Tag some people whose works you love/have been your biggest supporters
Love to @sugar-phoenix, @macabremoons, @orphicpoieses @awordchemist @moonlitinks (all of whom should take this as a gentle tag to answer the Q&A yourself!), and special shout out to my IRL best friend @canofpeaches who always goes feral whenever I send her a WPDL snippet (hope you did not combust reading the one above) <3

That feeling when you purge and deactivate your Instagram and your soul gets lighter.
It's so weird being old as rocks and actively involved in social media since before it was called that, working in marketing and online communications centred around social media, witnessing it become gestures broadly in disgust at scams, spam, and personal brands, and then realising that actually you fucking hate it and don't want it in your life anymore.
And no, I don't count Tumblr as social media. I know it technically is, but it doesn't feel the same to me. This, or at least the little corner of writeblr where I live, is a creative place filled with creative people doing creative things and not being scared to be weird and fucked up and obsessive.
It's also as anonymous as you want it to be, there are no visible profile stats (please Tumblr never change this) and no influencer bullshit, it isn't connected to any other platforms, the ads are tolerable if you choose to use it for free, and people I haven't had anything to do with for years don't show up in suggested accounts to follow. Also, a chronological feed made of stuff only from people you choose to follow and no bastarding algorithm.
I'm not saying Tumblr is perfect because...yeah. Hellsite. I know. You know. We all know. But it's imperfect in a very different way from everywhere else. I don't feel like I'm the product here. Meaningful interactions happen but also it's fine to lurk quietly if you want.
I think this is the first time in as long as social media has existed that I haven't been on any social media platforms (I don't include TikTok because it's basically fast TV for the tiny screen and I don't create or socialise there) and it feels really nice to take a breather from all that mess and actually enjoy the internet again.
Thank you all for being part of the internet that I enjoy 💜

Hey Ren!
Here's a fun one today. Do you have Writeblrs you would recommend? Especially for your December Challenge.
Here's a challenge for you! Hit me up with at least 10 or 11 that would be willing to have me read them for this challenge 😤 [take your time of course I know this might take a hot minute. feel free to include as few or as many Writeblrs as you want!]
I ofc love fantasy and romance but anyone you recommend I will enthusiastically check out (;
@bloodlessheirbyjacques ✨📘👓📚
Hey, Jacques ^^ Here's my recommendation list -
@writingonesdreams, as you well know, is a fantastic writer. I'll always scream praises for Dreams' comforting style and complex characters. Absolutely love the Tears of Iron cast and the snippets I've been able to read.
@queerlilchinchin changes projects frequently, but she always has something cool cooking in the fire. If you like fantasy and crazy creatures, I'd recommend hunting down her Fantastical World of Dreams project. I'm not sure if she's transferred all of the chapters to the new blog, though, so you might need to ask her about it.
@vermontwrites Severally underrated writer, seriously. They work with a lot of different genres from sci-fi, to historical fiction, to fantasy, and they are one of the very best writers at balancing beautiful descriptions with pacing that I've had the pleasure of reading. Some of those descriptions still live rent free in my head even though it's been more than a year since I read the story.
Like queer romance in your fantasy? @writeblrfantasy is an amazing writer who has snippets from tons of fantastic WIPs. High fantasy and Dark Fantasy elements are on point, characters are beautiful and complex, and Lila knows how to play my heartstrings like a freaken violin. She also does this cool thing with her scenes where it'll start with one emotion and then end at a completely different emotion and it is effortless and never really jarring. I can keep rambling, but we've got more writers to cover.
@sleepyowlwrites Another really versatile writer whose done various genres, but I'm particularly fond of Dirt in the Doing, a modern story that's about platonic bonds and complex character dynamics and tragic backstories. Her poetry is also amazing and fantastic. I seriously love it and every time I see Sleepy-friend has written a new one it makes me very happy.
@notwritinganyflufftoday has recently come back from her hiatus. Very good with writing emotions and distinct character voices. I distinctly remember crying at some ungodly hour of the morning over a snippet from a project she was working on where the story was about the people the chosen one left behind while heading out on a quest and was told entirely through letters. It was so, so good.
I haven't seen her around as much, but @austrohungarianwriteblr has a very fun, very quirky historical romance story that's about a noblewoman and her very introverted music teacher falling in love. Her writing style is very fun, very energetic, and I love the characters.
@hyba is one of my oldest mutuals and has several awesome projects going on. Very versatile as far as setting goes, working in everything from fantasy to sci-fi to modern era, but she's primarily a suspense writer. My favorite projects of hers are The Pirates of Sissa, a fantasy setting with complex politics, and A Cure for Happiness which is a fun and quirky high fantasy story where people are dying of being too happy.
While I unfortunately haven't had the chance to dig into his writing itself, @magic-is-something-we-create has some pretty freaken epic world building going on in his fantasy series. Like, if it's even half as good in the writing as it is in his little world building introduction posts it is an incredible world. I'm planning on digging into his archive and hunting down whatever snippets and excerpts I can find when I get the spoons and free time to do so.
I've read a few pieces by @perasperaadastrawriting and @dragon-swords-prophecies and they've both got some promising fantasy stories in the making.
I can't very well tell you to read your own writing, that'd be considered cheating for the challenge ;p
Unfortunately, that's the end of my recommendations. There were more I wanted to whole-heartedly recommend, but it seems that they've left tumblr. I wondered why my dash was feeling empty and I hadn't heard about some of my favorite projects in awhile :/
Have a nice day/evening.

find the word tag CCCLII
been a hot minute. I haven't written anything since my vacation except for some crappy who rules the world fanfic, but I'm doing a tag to get back into the swing of writeblr. @spacetimewraithwrites
without (city story)
Yarrow is gathering up his supplies and then heads into the garage without focusing in on their conversation.
Jet thinks for a moment. “Would you rather be alone tonight?”
strike (city story)
Rune blinks a few more times, shuddering slightly underneath his gaze. “Sorry I woke you.”
“What do you need?” He asks instead of acknowledging the apology, trying to channel what she’d probably ask him if their situations were reversed. Rune is far less of a purely comforting force. She has to strike at whatever is happening and confront it, and then add comfort after.
mess (hell in a handbasket, 2020)
The boy rolls his eyes. “You call that a bargain? I know how easy it is to stretch out a vial of blood. How can I be sure that’s really high-quality hell?”
The demon splutters. “Of course it is! Poor quality hell just drips out of its basket and makes a mess. I don’t want to have to repair this cloak again!”
feeling (gang up on crime)
She bent a little this way and that, patting down her limbs. With every new movement came another wince, like she was too tired to hide it. "I fell," she said, right hand feeling at her left shoulder tentatively.
Jake carefully replaced her hand with his as he checked to make sure there wasn't any bleeding. "How did you find Kit?"
happy (a universe of you, 2020)
he smiles with his teeth all crooked, because his lips haven’t figured out whether they’re supposed to be happy or intimidated. she brings it out in him but he knows that even if his bucket or cauldron fails, she can trap the universe in her eyes, too, and that’s enough.
“why not just use the soup pot?”
follow (death story)
Lawrence has taken in a lot in the last whatever period of not-time he's been here, in this cavernous void. His body isn't fully solid and he's dead. But Din is so serious, so Lawrence takes stock. Whatever is happening to him physically, he knows his own mind.
He nods. Din nods back. "That's the difference that'll make you a Keeper, not what is Kept. There's plenty to know and we've got all the time to know it, so just follow me and you'll get there. Alright?"
talk (you were a windshield, 2022)
There was silence in car for a bit while you watched the road and I watched the trees. It was habit, a ritual. We loved to talk but we loved to just sit next to each other. I loved that about you. I loved that you were willing to merely exist beside me and that’s enough. It’s enough for me, too.
Snow started to fall. The radio was broken but the temperature gauge worked.
scream (city story)
Shadow has nothing to say the next morning and Jet wants to be grateful for it, but his new habit of being invested in his friends’ lives is making him worried instead. No jokes are made, no questions asked. Shadow doesn’t even thank Rune for the godly coffee. He doesn’t drink it, either, except when Jet nudges him every minute to take another sip.
Rune must still be in the same mood she was last night, which makes sense. She’d woken Jet up by pressing her face into his shirt and he thought she was smothering a scream, but no sound came out, only harsh panting breaths. When he shook her awake, she didn’t say anything, and he hasn’t asked. His hands running through her hair eventually lulled her back to sleep.
yell
cry (city story - continuing directly from above)
They’d spent the first hour of the morning in silence while Jet held her hand to keep her from scratching at her skin. He wishes she would cry, would talk to him, would do anything other than pretend this is normal.
Except it probably is, and that leaves him with two friends who are repressing their trauma and Jet can’t do anything about it.
whisper (glow, 2021)
I tuck my head under her chin and whisper, “When was that?”
Her voice always sounds like its smiling, even when I can’t see it. So I know that my Mama was smiling when she says, “When I first saw you.”
murmur (apocalypse story)
“You are too good for this world,” Ty says, and it’s not a compliment. He’s scolding Ben, cautioning him against his tendency to sacrifice himself. “What if I wasn’t here, huh?”
The words are a murmur against the heavy quiet of their accidental suburban cave. Ben hears each of them clearly even while they barely smudge the gradual darkening of the light. He turns his head slightly, resting just a little on Ty’s hand.

I thought I was seeing things when I first saw the oneus news today. They aren't my ults nor was ravn my bias (keonhee hello) but my friend loves him and I've had to console her all day.
Regardless of if it's true or not, or half true half a lie, it's B A D and I can't really see anything other than him leaving.
At first it read so much like Lucas' situation last year in NCT for me so I was a bit unsure, but there seems to be far more evidence. Also, I'm not one to discredit someone making such serious accusations. It should be taken seriously.
I don't really know how to feel. I was meant to see them live and I do like their music a lot and enjoyed his voice, and now it just feels... empty?
Not to mention it makes me scared. It may sound selfish (because it partially very much is), but it makes me wonder what other group is next. If there's anything else that someone I look up to has done that goes along these lines. It makes me feel sick. It makes me want to tune off anyone I may enjoy watching or listening to.
It just makes me wonder what else is secretly tainted and I HATE that. I really hope this situation is resolved and taken seriously by the company and that he leaves. And to anyone who loved ravn or oneus, I hope you're doing as well as you can right now 💕
i completely understand, tbh—i starting following oneus during their pre-debut days and then really got into them after their official debut in mid January of 2019, which was a really rough period for me since i had just lost my aunt a few weeks prior at the beginning of the month. i think my relationship with them was more of a comfort group than an ult, in a sense? even if after this news i do decide to continue listening to them (which, depending on what RBW decides to do, is still an option) that's the category they'd stay in, although i'm not sure how much comfort they'll offer.
i was also hesitant to talk about it here bc it did feel like the Lucas situation (which still has some contradictory points in my opinion/much less evidence for the case), but as soon as i saw the OP talk about how he gaslighted her and mentioned wanting to kill his ex-girlfriend i knew i had to speak up. on the writeblr side of Tumblr i've been gaslighted and threatened by several users over the years (all of whom i have blocked and reported), so ik how terrifying that can be in my own life. no one should have to go through that, especially at the hands of someone who claims to love them/wants to marry them in the future.
my Spotify library has been..... in limbo, during the last few hours, and i haven't touched a single song from them. it sucks, and it's not fair to the rest of the members, but this isn't like with Woojin or Wonho where we had circumstantial evidence (which was shaky at best and eventually proved to be downright false in both cases), or with Hanbin, where the evidence we did have was greatly blown out of proportion and the actual crime was much milder than we thought. this is a detailed list of allegations with electronic trails, and he has had his hands in most of the group's work. Blood Moon, which earned them several awards, opens the album with a prequel track—an absolutely gorgeous piece and some of their best work to date—where he raps through a lot of the lines with Leedo. i don't know if i'll be able to separate the art from this part of the artist, and frankly i don't want to think about that rn when everything is so fresh.
pls know, however, that you are completely valid in being worried about other groups—not a day goes by where there's a new scandal in the industry and i don't immediately think of some of my own biases, and i wonder if getting into k-pop was worth it. but you do not deserve to have your happiness taken away from you bc of things that have not happened yet (and may never happen) to people that you enjoy listening to.
at the time i'm answering this RBW has put out a statement saying that they're investigating the charges and taking them seriously, but they won't be commenting on anything else until the internal investigation is finished. even if he is proven innocent (which is looking to be more and more unlikely) he's pretty much ruined his career, damaged those of his fellow members, and ended years long friendships with other 4th generation idols. (CyA from onewe [oneus' sister band] privating all of the tracks they produced together and unfollowing him on SoundCloud is a pretty clear sign in my book that this is as bad, if not worse, as we think it is—they've been friends for years, and him taking this step [after most likely trying to confirm the details himself] means both bands are on very shaky ground.) i don't want oneus to disband—not when everything is finally starting to look up for them—but i want people to be held accountable for what they've done. if him leaving is equivalent to that, then let him leave. let him leave, and let the others live in peace. let them come to terms with this, and figure out what they want to do next. let them be able, in the future, to stand on their own two feet, so that fans can hear about oneus and think of their music and their accomplishments. not this.

Author Ask Game
Thank you @i-can-even-burn-salad for tagging me! I'll do this for Spencer.
1) What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
There is no lesson, and I usually focus on themes more than lessons, which, though they can be eye opening in some ways, are more of a commentary than a lesson.
The theme in this story is mostly exploring terrible characters and their strange moral frameworks, though they still remain likable and fun regardless.
2) What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
It's just set in the modern world, so the only real bits of "world building" will go into the fictional city and the context of the characters being hired for the main job. But I haven't gotten that far quite yet. Oh, also, everyone is anthro cats lol.
3) What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?
I want audiences to be interested in them but also conflicted. Because, as likable as they are, their more terrible actions and perspectives can not be overlooked either.
4) How many chapters is your story going to have?
Unsure, but at most it'd have twenty chapters or so.
5) Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
It's original content, that I'll hopefully be able to publish as an ebook at some point (once I finish and edit and all that).
6) When and why did you start writing?
I have been writing since I was little, and I started thanks to vocab stories. I just loved using language to tell stories and create characters.
7) Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?
I assume encouragement was meant here. And really, just keep posting. So long as you enjoy it, you'll stuff will find the right audience eventually. Don't be too discouraged about the lack of engagement. It doesn't mean your work is bad, these things just take time.
I follow quite a few, but the ones I tagged below are individuals I've talked to personally who are very nice people. I love hearing about their works!
Tagging: @caxycreations, @perasperaadastrawriting, and anyone else who wants to join in (sorry my brain is a little broken today so only directly tagged the ones that first came to mind).

Writeblr Intro
**edit: moved to @paradisiacalshroud
So, since I'm intending to post more of my writing on here, I've decided to join writeblr.
My name's Franklin. I'm 10 days away from turning 17. I'm trans and aroace. I use he/they pronouns and prefer he/him. Ig I could consider my self a "gifted kid", but I really I just have adhd. I wasn't sure if I should join writeblr honestly, but I do follow a good amount of writers on this account and my main account and I do write more often than I draw, so....
More About Me & My Writing:
I've always enjoyed reading a lot and storytelling. I really want to tell stories, and I'm very passionate about my writing, but it isn't something I could ever do as more than a hobby, even if I want to get anything published.
World building is my jam. I absolutely love world building. Many of my stories explore that world building, as all of them (except one) take place on the same planet, Dirt, in different countries. World building is so fun!!!
My biggest audience in my writing is myself. I do share my writing with others sometimes, but a lot of what I write is written to cater specifically to myself.
My writing style is influenced by how many of my favourite writers go about storytelling. It's hard to describe what my style is like though. I find my writing gets influenced by whatever book/writing I read last that inspires me. It also depends on what sort of vibe I'm trying to create in a piece. A collection of short stories I'm working on, for example, has a more old sort of vibe to the writing, in a way. The stories in it are sort of like fairytales, and I take inspiration from older, fairytale-esque books I read as a child to create that nostalgic fairytale feeling in my writing.
In my writing style, I also really enjoy playing with phrasing and how I use words. I like to create pictures with my writing, and I like placing words in specific orders to evoke a specific feeling in the reader. Especially in my more fantastical and fairytale-esque pieces, I like to play around with unconventional phrasing. (Google Docs hates me for it lol.)
Honestly, I don't tend to write with an audience in mind, or with a much of a genre in mind. I mostly write fantasy and science fiction, sometimes a combination of both. Even in my one piece of contemporary fiction, there are elements of science fiction and fantasy. Fantasy is a genre I cannot live without. There's so much you can do within the fantasy genre.
I try to explore different themes and genres within fantasy and sci-fi settings. Like coming of age, superheroes, murder mysteries, heists, magic, found family, corruption, nature. And like mental illness, abuse, addiction, gender, sexuality, different forms of love, and different societal norms.
I also write the occasional bit of fanfiction. I recently lost like all of my work on one of my fanfic wips, so I haven't been working much on any fanfics recently...
In addition to all that, I write poetry and prose. Mostly to process emotions and events in my life. A lot of it is pretty personal and I don't post it on here. A lot of it is also pretty incoherent and unedited. Currently, the only prose I have posted is a piece I wrote about my mum and what it's been like being out to her as trans.
I'm still exploring what mediums I want to tell different stories in, but I largely work in short stories and novels.
Current WIPs:
(* = I haven't settled on the names of some of these still... but here's what I refer to them as.)
Waldosia: After seven long years at sea, Waldo Fischer returns to the Do:chaut port town of Val:dosja to finds things gave changed just as much as he expected, and the people have changed even more than he expected. There is little time to dwell on it, or how much his ex, the smuggler Shia Grimm, detests him, with the plot that brews on the horizon, however. Waldo and Shia must team up, however reluctantly, and work together with a mysterious woman on the inside of this plot if they want to keep their loved ones (and Shia’s smuggling enterprise) safe and tidy things up before Shia’s wedding turns the corner. | High-fantasy, heists, pirates, forgiveness (or lack thereof), anger, mystery, corruption, queernorm
Timekeeper Kiddos*: After a group of teens stumble upon a VR gaming arena in a cave in the mountainside, the magic of the game begins to bleed into their lives unexpectedly. | Contemporary with elements of sci-fi/fantasy, queerness, drama, friendship, mystery
JMG*: Sora Yazuqi and his brothers learn to live and let go in a world that doesn't wany them with the help of Akira Krikorian and her found family. | High-fantasy, sci-fi, found family, abuse, healing, necromancy, corruption, love, queerness
Double A Batteries: After an accident in his dad's lab, Kesh C. McInke discovered his superpowers, and after three years of avoiding his parents while sleeping on his friends' couches and delivering vigilante justice on the side, his friends force him to get his life back together as a new rival rolls into town. As Kesh, under the name Double A, fights this new villain, he unearths the bigger, more serious plots of a villainous organization and falls unexpectedly for his new roommate. | High-fantasy setting, sci-fi, superheroes, enemies-to-lovers, corruption, drama, queernorm
Of Sea Jewels and Great Lords: A collection of short stories regarding the Astellean legend of a mage trapped beneath the Heart of Astelle and the sorcerer who put him there. And regarding the side of the story untold in Astelle, of a sorcerer and a made-mage fell in love on a journey to the Heart of Astelle. | High-fantasy, fairytale-esque, queernorm, love vs. duty, dragons
Shielda × Dlade*: A young made-mage in the Iroman military, Shielda von Bauble Kate, never intended to become the fated bearer of a high-ranking armare. (I haven't decided the plot beyond that, but this story is an exploration in friendships, love, and Iroman society. Probably some ethics as well because military.) | High-fantasy, queernorm, love, friendship, societal norms, magic swords, military
Rosy*: Rosy's already crumbling life falls apart when she gets turned into a vampire. After being thought dead for months, she works to reconnect with her fiancée and family, and to get her life into some semblance of order. With the help of those around her, she learns to heal and take care of her mental health. | High-fantasy, mental health, queernorm, healing, vampires, hurt/comfort, personal growth
Camilla Marie & Co.*: The life of a young mage coming to terms with her heritage. | No plot (yet), high-fantasy, friendship, queerness, found family, nature, corruption
Bentley*: The story of how a girl found love but not a happy ending, and the tragedies that occurred. Or: Bentley’s villain origin story. | High-fantasy, love, queerness, mystery, rivals-to-lovers, corruption, mild insanity
Finished Works:
The REX Scandal: When the country of Randia opens an easy immigration program, the Randian Emigration Exchange (or REX, for short), Janine Rognue signs up, hoping it isn't too good to be true. Which, of course, it is. She ends up stranded in a new country as part of an emigration program that works as a scheme to get more of Randia's large male population married. However, she is able to find help and safety in a similarly scammed member of the exchange, Turgul Dolx, and maybe a bit of love along the way. | Low-fantasy, strangers-to-lovers, queerness, homophobia
Future WIPs:
Seeing Ghosts*: Realyn Lockworth moves in with a new roommate, Madden Livry, in Calderine City and he’s perfect—kind, caring, gentle, a great housekeeper—but he’s not really Rea’s type. Not that it matters because she’s not in the city for long; once she’s done her practicum as a research assistant for Professor Octem, she’ll be moving on to bigger and better things than a cheap shared apartment. But when Rea begins getting haunted by literal ghosts from the past, her quiet roommate may be her only hope. | High-fantasy, ghosts, some sci-fi, hurt/comfort
So yeah. If any of that interests you, please interact! Tbh I'll probably stalk through your blog if you do. I'd love to find more writers to follow and interact with! :)

Tumblr media
Digital interview with @randonauticrap
Madame L. sits down at a table in Writeblr Café and orders a chai latte. We start talking about her writing. She writes poetry, fan fiction, short stories and a book! Her writing includes many genres, including from fantasy, romance, thriller, crime, mystery, paranormal and realitic fiction.
What got you into writing?
When I was in 6th grade, one of my teachers created an assignment where we would have to choose a poem to memorize. She had a box full of poetry books and allowed us to sift through them. I chose a book of poems by Edgar A. Poe, and was immediately captivated by his use of metaphor and imagery. His words transported me directly into the heart of his emotions, and I couldn't tear myself away. I learned and memorized all 3 1/2 pages of The Raven for the assignment, and I realized in the process of doing so that writing was calling to me in a form it never had before. I answered the call and I have been writing ever since, never forgetting the author who started it all. I try to pay little tributes to him throughout a lot of my horror/thriller pieces.
What inspires you to write?
The simplest answer is the truest in this case: my emotions. I can't properly put words to paper (or screen, in most instances these days) without some kind of emotional investment in what I am penning. What I am feeling at the time decides which genre I take hold of, and it often decides which character I decide to focus more deeply on for the time being. It also can help decide what part of a story I write; for example, if I am feeling down and I know that my character is going to feel the same way at some point in the story, I use that state of being to encompass that character's pain in a more raw and evocative way. Even if I haven't reached that part of the story yet in my continuity writing, I may skip ahead to write that scene and then put it to the side until I am ready to insert it into the full context of the plot.
Which are recurring themes in your writing?
Loneliness is a big one, as well as a desire to be understood. I feel these emotions very strongly in my life, so they often appear in my characters in one way or another. Strength of self is another very important characteristic that tends to show up in my stories, as well as the not-so-graceful intensity that comes with such a strong energy.
How would you describe your writing style?
I feel as though my writing style leans towards narrative pretty often. I go into detail about the descriptors of a person and place and situation more than anything else. You'll usually find little dialogue, but a lot of metaphor and chroniclization.
Have you already published your writing?
Sadly, I have not. However, I am currently working on a novella that I hope to publish upon completion!
Tell us more interesting stuff about you!
Interesting stuff? Wow, you're really making me think now. The most basic knowledge about me is my ridiculously intense love of Halloween, fall, and anything cosy. I am a bona fide coffee addict (there is a crazy story behind this well-earned title, but I believe it's a bit too long to tell here), I am single (against my will), and I have two cats. I am pretty much the little eccentric cat lady down the street that makes hot chocolate for everyone when it's cold out. I am more sarcastic than is good for me -- if you had not already discerned that much from... Well, everything above, and I am a redhead, which I feel like pretty much just explains my whole personality in a better way than I could with descriptors. Thank you for creating this survey and opening it up to all writers! I genuinely enjoyed going through these questions and talking about what I feel makes me a writer, and I'm sure others will feel the same!
Get interviewed by Writeblr Café!
Any writer can participate. Just fill in this form. Maybe we will host interviews in an audio format if you are more interested in listening to an interview than reading it.

@lowslore just put out a post asking, questions various and sundry about writeblr’s wips, and, since I am sick and my tooth is broken and I need to distract but can’t think clear enough to do real writing! hello! hi! here I am, thank you my friend for throwing this out in the ether. :)
Some of the questions were (the bolded bits)
- if we haven't really interacted before, what's it called and what's it about?
It’s called The Princess and The Pirate! it’s about two royal siblings (Savitri, she/her, 21, and Rakhee, e/em/eir, 10) who are imprisoned by their despotic aunt so she can become queen when their parents die. Rakhee, while imprisoned, befriends the Queen of the Mice, and after some time all the mice in the palace band together to heist the two out of there. They’re on their way to their Grandmother’s home country to find safe haven, when their train is hijacked!! They are recognized by description and kidnapped, by a gruff band of pirates turned bandits after their airship was shot down. Luckily for our two heroes, the captain has a soft spot for misfits and runaways, so she agrees to take them under her wing to the border, where they will separate and never see each other again. Of course things are never really going to be that easy, though.
- what's one really cool thing that you've JUST managed to FINALLY figure out and you really wanna tell someone about it?
I’ve been playing with this idea for a few months now but just recently solidified where I’m going with it. Aguri is transgender! She is Rakhee’s age (10) and some Changes she Does Not Like are beginning to happen, earlier than Captain Daoyun and Mama Bear expected them to, which is why they’re making a detour on their way to get Rakhee and Savitri to Beijiya. Gender is not a big deal in this world, people are who they are, and nobody bats an eye at people who are not cis or binary. It’s just a thing that happens sometimes. BUT that doesn’t mean Aguri doesn’t still want to change her body, so the little pirate band are on their way to meet with an Alchemist friend of another of the pirates who I have not introduced on Tumblr yet.
Alchemy is supposed to break things down to their most pure, distinct selves, so it’s perfect for gender transition. Because your youness is in your heart and your mind, not your body. And while gender identity is not something people judge, she still wants the body she wants, and the younger one is, the less painful the change. They just thought they had more time to get her there.
- what are three cool facts about the main character?
Rakhee has eight limbs!! Four are perfectly serviceable arms that are pretty well placed on eir sides, and e also has two extra legs, but they are very tiny and they don’t work for anythin. But they are not harmful and they don’t get in eir way so e’s like yeah no surgery that would hurt thank you.
E can talk to animals, Disney Princess (or rather, Pirnni, as e is not a girl) style. All animals can speak to humans, but they only choose to do so when they are sure those humans are listening. Rakhee just listens really close!
Eir favorite food is potato and pea samosas. E is not vegetarian but e doesn’t like cured meat products. Too salty. But after being locked up and eating nothing but rice for a year, e is still so grateful to have anything else e will shove handfuls into eir face.
- what's a really niche little detail you think is rlly cool but it might be just in there for you?
Rakhee was actually a pair of twins in the womb, but one cannibalized the other, and e became one person, but not completely, hence the extra limbs. I don’t know if this will ever come up in canon but that’s why e is that way :)
And ofc anything else you wanna yell about!
Rakhee is already friends with The Queen of the Mice, and through the token she has given em, can call a favor from any mouse in the five kingdoms. But e is very adept at making friends, and e DOES talk to animals, so. let’s say e has more than just a colony of mice and a ragtag group of bandits on eir side by the end. :)

Hey!! ♡
I think that your blog is amazing, you're such a wonderful presence on my dash, thank you for everything that you do ✨
What's your favourite book/s? [sorry for the super generic question]
I haven't had the focus to write since the start of this year for multiple reasons and sometimes I feel as if I'll never get back into it or never get the chance to start the writeblr I always wanted to. You don't have to say anything to this, I just wanted to share my thoughts.
Take care of yourself!!
P.S. Is it okay I be your 🌠 anon?
Hello! You absolutely can be my 🌠 anon! I actually seriously love the concept of regular anons with an anon alias, so I was super excited to see this.
And thank you so much, you are so sweet!
I have been in an extreme reading drought since middle school, and I admittedly have not read that many books in the past... 10 years. I managed to break that and water my crops a bit by reading the Grishaverse after being yelled at by many writeblr mutuals to check it out, so it’ll definitely have to be that! (Specifically Crooked Kingdom!).
Besides that, the only other books that I’ve read were for school. My partner got me a couple books for Christmas though that looked really good, and I’m hoping to have the brainspace and motivation to jump into them over spring break. I am very slowly trying to ease myself back into reading again.
When it comes to getting back into writing, my best advice is always to lower your expectations. Here is a post that goes more deeply into that, and here is yet another one. Here is also some advice of mine about finding inspiration. Maybe these will help?
This also goes for Writeblr! You don’t have to be actively writing something to have a writeblr blog. I certainly wasn’t when I first got started, and it’s still questionable whether I actually write or not. And in terms of “starting the writeblr I always wanted to”, that kind of sounds like you have high expectations for it that maybe is making it a bit intimidating to tackle?
Chances are, your writeblr isn’t going to be the blog of your dreams. Mine certainly isn’t the blog of my dreams — I’m as far away from my personal writeblr goals and what I want this blog to be as I possibly can be. This isn’t what I envisioned or wanted for my blog... And that’s okay. It can be really frustrated or demoralizing, but what matters is that I am here, and I’m having fun! It’s okay that I don’t have projects to talk about a lot, or a lot of writing to share. I’m here because I enjoy being here, and I think that’s what is the most important.
Good luck, you can do it!
Sleepover Sunday: It’s not Sunday, but come chat with me anyways!

idk if you're still doing the ask thing but uhhh what's it like being one of the best writeblrs in town? what's your primary source of inspiration? are there any old wips that you gave up ages ago but are tempted to go back and change/finish? are there any wips that you haven't told anyone about yet but are dying to share? (pls share if you want!) Finally, why do you like writing so much? (you don't have to answer all the questions i just really like asking people these questions bc they're fun)
Thank you so much for all of the questions! I really enjoyed answering them :)
It’s a bit long so I’m putting it all under a cut!
What's it like being one of the best writeblrs in town?
Oh my gosh, I really don’t think I’m anywhere near being one of the best writeblrs in town, but I’m super flattered that you think I am!
Overall, I love being a writeblr, and I love the little community of friends, mutuals, and followers that I have. I definitely wouldn’t still be around if I didn’t enjoy the community so much! I love being able to support people, and sometimes sharing what little I have. The amount of passion, creativity and kindness here is phenomenal, and I’m really honored to be a part of it!
It’s pretty normal, honestly. I’m definitely not one of the super popular writeblrs that gets a whole lot of engagement (though I am really thankful for every bit of engagement I get 💙💙) so I think that I have a lot less going on than most people might think. That’s mostly my own fault though I think, because I haven’t shared a whole lot of my writing or projects. I reblog stuff, post stuff sometimes, I try to reblog and leave comments on people’s work when I’m feeling up to it, and occasionally I’m delighted by a very kind comment.
It’s not all roses and sparkles though, a lot of really hard work went into getting where I am. Being a bigger blog with a certain reputation also brings with it a lot of problems and frustrations that I usually don’t talk about because I think it’s pretty tacky to rant about publicly on my blog.
But it’s worth it, you know? The positives definitely outweigh the negatives, and I met so many amazing people here which is the best gift. I just don’t think that my writeblr experience is that different from most other people haha!
What's your primary source of inspiration?
My writing partner is a really big one. She’s super creative and I absolutely adore writing with her. She comes up with the best ideas, and talking about our ideas and projects and characters with her is always a surefire way for me to get excited and inspired about something, even if I’m in a slump!
TV shows, movies, books, video games that I’m into also sometimes ignite a spark! When I’m creatively drained or suffering writer’s block, I always try to just disconnect from writing for a bit and immerse myself in other media until something clicks.
Otherwise, aesthetics are one of the primary ways I get into an idea or a concept so that’s pretty important as well!
Are there any old wips that you gave up ages ago but are tempted to go back and change/finish?
It’s been a really long time since I’ve written for any of the WIPs that I’ve announced on tumblr. For Queen and Country, Morsmordre, Post-Script, Wanderlust... Between me and my partners feeling burnt out, or stuck, or just otherwise busy with other things, they’ve all fallen to the wayside a bit and that makes me a bit sad.
I don’t think any of us have given up on them, but right now they’re not active and I really wish that they were.
Are there any wips that you haven't told anyone about yet but are dying to share?
YES!!! Two of them, in fact.
One of them is a fanfiction that will be accessible to people who aren’t part of the fandom and have no knowledge about it — it will have no spoilers for the fandom, and all of the fandom-specific worldbuilding and such will be explainable. But it’s an incredibly original idea; there’s no fic anything like it on AO3, fanfiction.net or wattpad, and I’m a bit paranoid that once I start talking about it, people might take the idea and run with it? Which you know, might not happen and I know I’m being overly cautious. But I’ve demanded a gag order until we’re ready to post the actual story. It’s so good and I can’t wait to tell people but I want to keep it a secret until it’s ready and faljdskhcnlkdsjcnlakdjn
The other one is my Nano project!!! I’m really close to being able to share it!!!!! So close, yet so far... Hoping to be able to announce within the next week or so.
Finally, why do you like writing so much?
I’ve been writing for my entire life basically, ever since I was 5 years old. It’s just been my choice of a creative outlet, I suppose, and I never really questioned it.
My first serious attempt at writing was play-by-post roleplaying, and I adored that because it allowed me to flesh out characters and character relationships with other people. That’s still a massive part of the appeal because I write with partners. Being able to collaborate on an idea, and endlessly talk about character relationships, dynamics, and plotting is definitely among the most rewarding experiences I’ve gotten with writing.
Like I said before, writing it my creative outlet. I’m a really creative person, but writing is really one of the only ways that I can express it because I’m not artistic whatsoever, and I don’t have a whole lot of other skills. Writing is something I can do though, and I often feel like I’m going to explode if I go too long without creating something. And it’s so immensely satisfying to be able to look at something I wrote or created and be like “Wow, I did really good.” My progress isn’t easily trackable, but I am able to look at my writing and see that I’ve improved, which is really motivating.
But when it comes to the question, why do I like it so much... I’m honestly not sure! Writing has always just been one of my things, and I’ve never actually delved too deeply into the why. It’s an interesting question though, and hopefully I’ll find an answer someday!
