See, the decision to do away with the romantic undertones of Annabeth and Luke was correct(TM), in my opinion. It is, at best, a boring, basic writing decision, and at worst, hella creepy.

But Annabeth's crush in the books was a quick way to establish they have a connection. A lazy way! Mind you! We gotta establish girl loves boy so let's have her have a crush, despite their relationship being explicitly planned to be familial! Lazy. Cliche. Kinda creepy. But it does do what it means to do, which is to quickly tie Annabeth to Luke.

If you're gonna change that to screen, which you should, you have to do it all the way. You can't just tell me they are like siblings, you gotta show me. Annabeth gets a gentle moment of goodbye with Thalia. Why not Luke? Where is the scene where he is walking after her as she packs, shooting instructions or reassuring her she will be okay or asking if she has her toothbrush? Where is any scene of them at all? They never get five minutes to talk. How do you want me to believe they love each other like family?

i’ve mentioned before that i headcanon that pretty much all astrals are autistic and this is just kinda an extension of that. whereas meta tends to suppress his emotions and conform to others, mira…doesn’t. she gets uncomfortable and upset and lashes out at people easily, and working through their emotions is no small task.

the main reason i chose to write them that way was for the sake of narrative but i’ve grown attached to it because there’s a lot of ideas there i’d like to explore. stuff about navigating emotions and relationships when existing is so suffocatingly uncomfortable. it’s not something i could center around Kirby himself, but i think it makes sense with a post character development meta knight.

the thing about amen and vincent that i think a lot of you still do not understand (and i'm using them specifically bc they're the ones being compared) is that 1) amen wants every single dark magician dead, and he takes pleasure in torturing them and killing them, that is a very important part of his character, and that's why the book has made it so fucking clear! amen said it himself! he is not gonna change his ways just because he and eva are in love! eva literally makes the decision to accept that part of himself, so you cannot deny it and you can't complain if you were expecting something else because the book was pretty clear from the beginning about who amen really was (and i'm not saying he doesn't have layers but those do not take away the fact that he enjoys killing and that's that) -- and 2) vincent is not like amen at all. sure, his job, and i think it even has to do with his legacy, is being a demon hunter, but he doesn't go around killing every fucking demon he comes across, he's only after the ones who don't care about his world's ways, the ones who kill humans (like mc was planning to do until he told her what would happen if she did). and sure, you can argue that both amen and vincent want to rid the world of "evil", but again, amen takes pleasure in toturing and killing people (and it's because of a personal vendetta he has, may i add), vincent does not

all hate to tiktok for taking 'having a space to more openly and actively talk about different cultures' to mean 'cultures are NOT to be shared and we must be vigilantly defensive of our cultures for fear of appropriation, a word that can be applied to any multicultural interaction'. like of course cultural appropriation is a very real problem but ive seen with the access to global multicultural conversation that tiktok provides it's made people TERRIFIED to even interact with cultures other than their own for fear of 'doing it wrong'. like at some point you have to acknowledge that in the real world of the great outdoors, the majority of people are eager to SHARE their cultures. yes there are ignorant questions and biases but also... how do you think those things get unlearnt? i dont understand how deciding that multiculturalism is an elephant in the room instead of a normal thing that should just be talked about and lived with is supposed to benefit anyone? and kids on tiktok are CONVINCED that it's a time bomb of a conversation to have and therefore must be avoided at all costs but like. people generally LOVE their home and their culture and are PROUD of it and want to share it. how have we made it so that showing genuine interest and a desire to understand something so integral to a person's identity is now feared and borderline demonised?

Hello! I'm doing fine! I went to my country house for the first time this year and grilled some sausages and meat with my parents, so I had a pretty good day today!

It would most definitely be different from what she’s used to, being surrounded by serious, and mostly grumpy people at all times. But it’s not like you could blame them either, they’re at war and need to be alert, not having the time to be cheerful. SO having you along is definitely a breath of fresh air. Someone, who doesn’t think of all the bad things that could happen at any point in time. You’re always up for an adventure, even if Farah doesn’t always have the time for them. Don’t get me wrong, she’d love nothing more than to explore the world with you, go inside every forest and every cave just to see some cute animals and maybe pet them, but she can’t unfortunately. Even so, she can appreciate you being this bubbly, it’s nice. You may talk a lot, but that’s alright, sometimes she’s too tired to talk anyway and lets you take the lead. Not having to think about all the godawful things war brings with it for a few moments is nice, especially if it’s because of a loved one. Besides, you’re always in a good mood, and it rubs off on her as well, leaving her smiling and thinking about the time you pet a cat and ushered her to do the same as you held the mammal out towards her. You having a lot of energy can be a bit exhausting to her at times, though. Sometimes, when she’s tired, she just wants to rest a bit, but you always wanna do big things with her. She’d love to, again, but she can’t always. But once all of this is over, she’s gonna take you to an amusement park. Not because she’s never been to one, definitely not because of that, but because they seem like something you would enjoy. However, on those days where she has a bit more energy as well, you’re more than welcome to dance with her, or maybe even race each other to the top of one of the hills nearby. Farah wants nothing more than to share her country with you, especially the good things such as the culture and the landscape, so she would never say no to the both of you going outside when you can, provided the times are a bit more peaceful. If she’s feeling especially playful, or if you’re being too energetic, Farah will tire you out a bit by play fighting with you. Good luck trying to beat her.
