do you have any metaltango fic recs?
Oh ho! Yes, yes, I do.
I obviously have to say my own fics, because I love this pairing and they've been taking up serious space in my head recently. (For some reason, I just want to write all of the AUs right now. Posting some now on my BMC, but they'll be up on AO3 hopefully soon.)
@fonulyn was one of the main people who got me into the ship (and Nivannedy, fyi), so her fics are absolutely important to check out. She writes a wide variety of Metaltango fics.
(FYI, for both fon and me, several of the fics linked have Metaltango as a past pairing because it's hard to watch the pair interact in RE4 and NOT think that they had something going on. Past!Metaltango is a big headcanon. Some of the fics also include Nivannedy or Chreon and make sure to keep an eye on the tags.)
Specifically, though:
Between Ruins by Grimmy88 - Big warning for this one: this one is an ABO, which is usually really not my cup of tea, but I loved the characterizations of both Leon and Krauser, how Krauser was still strong and gruff and full of that lovely, lovely, fierce knife-edge type of flirting you see in RE4, and Leon is just as tough and deadly with none of that uke!weak!shit you see so often in Metaltango pairings.
can't help but follow in spite of going insane by fonulyn - I know I already recced fon but this is what I would have killed to see in RE4. I still desperately wish I could see it. :( :( :( On the shorter side but with awesome Leon whump and possibly my favorite Metaltango fic.
Of City Boys and Southerners by Hammocker, SocialDeception - This one is a COMPLETE AU, and as such, if you're trying to get more into why canonical-based Metaltango is intriguing, might be a better read for later. Still, it is a rather nice, comforting, long read and is incredibly well-written.
Ties that Bind by SocialDeception/@social-deception - A very well-written fic that explores a pretty interesting premise. I don't agree with some of the Leon bits in it but I don't think that's the important part: I love how the author delved into some of the oft-overlooked things in canon and I love how the different characters and relationships were explored. It's the type of thing I wish I saw more in fandom, honestly.
guess who's back (Krauser's back) back again (aka post-RE6 reunions) - more fon but this is, again, more of what I would like to see in canon. Krauser was such a good character! He could have been excellent as another type of Ada for Leon! Damn you, canon. But anyway, some pretty, pretty post-RE4 Metaltango.
I would also suggest checking out @fuckyeahleonxkrauser, @onjmk, and just the metaltango tag in general. There's some gorgeous stuff for this pairing.

leon's characterization in re4r strays too far away from the rest of his iterations- so much so that it no longer feels like this is the same leon
(IN MY OPINION lol)
i've had enough time to really soak in re4r, how the game is, how leon's characterized and how (i believe) this iteration of leon is fundamentally so different in comparison to re4 leon (and the rest of the iterations of leon.) to keep things simple, og re4 leon will be re4 leon and re4 remake leon will be 4R leon.
everyone knew going into 4R that it was going to be a grittier, darker version of re4. it wasn't going to be as campy and frankly- silly as the original. however they were able to keep a few of the one liners in. (the fact that they were going to cut out the bingo line is insane to me lol)
we have the obvious ptsd and the traumatic retellings of re2r as the beginning of 4r, giving us an indication of how this story is going to go. leon is ALREADY jaded, cold, angry, and feels as though his life isn't in his control. (it isn't)
with re4, we have this version of leon where he cracks jokes (a lot) and is generally aloof with most of his interactions with people. but he still harbours anger, he still gets angry when the time arises. ex when he faces krauser. but he's not just a cunt to everyone lol SURE he's silly and goofy, a bit too much even for my tastes. but campiness aside, he's still nice to ashley, gentle to her even. he knows that she's a young girl and is afraid. she is defenseless and can not take care of herself. the interactions between leon and luis are minimal in re4 in comparison to 4R so i won't go deep into it. and leon and Ada are seemingly fine as well. they go on as if nothing bad ever really happened between them (even though he knows she's working for someone else.) he just ends up trusting ada to do the right things (and even if she doesn't) he still lets her go on her merry way.
my biggest complaint has been his interactions with ashley actually. he (both re4 and 4R leon) may find ashley annoying, or find her teenage like personality a bit grating-
but he (re4 leon) is in no way ANGRY or resentful towards ashley-
WHICH 4R LEON IS. when he first finds ashley, his main reaction/response isn't relief or joy. it's annoyance when she decides to fight him back (RIGHTFULLY SO SINCE SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHO HE IS) and instead of immediately trying to comfort her, he gets annoyed- and for some reason ashley just relents (after leon says one time that her dad sent him there) and then she decides that leon is safe.
when i say 4R Leon is a cunt to everyone. I mean, he is uncharacteristically rude/curt to LITERALLY EVERYONE. he's rude to Ashley (for no reason, he should be nice(?), she's literally his employer's daughter), Luis (i don't really care, he can be rude I guess), Ada (his anger here is okay, but misplaced.)
he's consistently rude, and avoidant towards ashley. only when he realizes that she's legitimately scared does he try to comfort her. but it's in no way similar to re4 leon's "you did it!" and the casual banter between them. re4 ashley is ... sure, more "annoying" but i find her more endearing in a way. 4R ashley is also sick of leon's shit, trying to make light of the situation in most cases as leon walks around like there's a stick up his ass. (IT'S FAIR THAT HE'S TRAUMATIZED, but WHY is he taking it out on EVERYONE ELSE) it's clear that they are both stuck with each other, as opposed to leon's here to save ashley. ashley being- not able to save herself, and leon- probably losing his fucking job if he can't get ashley home.
now i would forgive his behaviour, but now it makes it harder to bridge the gaps. the closest piece of media in the timeline is infinite darkness. and he's resorted back to this "good, loyal, obedient, noble," character. we have a singular clip of him perhaps "in contemplation," of his career/life, but we don't have anywhere the amount of explanation of his life at the moment. and we still have a moment of defiance when he actively goes against claire's wishes because he KNOWS that what claire wants with the chip is dangerous and a death wish. he was willing to ruin a friendship because of his own morals. (this is fine though, his morals was always going to be, in whatever way to keep someone safe)
are we supposed to believe that in 1-2 years that leon just went to therapy or something?
further along in the game, 4R leon is sure, "nicer" to Ashley, but I still feel like it was a means of having her trust him, but also to make the mission go smoother. he can't have ashley freaking out all the time.
one of the consistent things i've said about re as a whole is that the writing is NOT GREAT. a lot of the plots don't go anywhere or don't affect anything majorly. i've argued for a long time, that i feel as though claire's characterization and storyline is so stagnant that it's really a stretch to call her a main character. (her addition to death island was also not important or necessary. if she was removed- nothing would've changed.)
leon's characterization gives me fucking whiplash.
he's either fine or his not fine. and SURE we have REASONS on why he's not fine. but the way that 4R leon had six years to potentially heal from re2r, it seems as though he's only gotten colder. colder so that it makes the whole "he's a hero" trope slip further and further away from him. but that's the thing isn't. it's still a part of his internal conflicts.
he WANTS to save people- so why is he reluctant to save ashley? he's SUPPOSED to want to help people- so why does he not give a shit about Luis? he KNOWS the truth about Ada, so is that why he's still saving her?
all the conflicts in him SURE MAKE SENSE, but the way they steer it in this cold gritty version of him makes sense in instances like vendetta. where after another mission has failed and he is forced to kill his entire unit- it's traumatizing, he wants to be out of it, he wants to be done.
but in 4R, he's forced into it, he does what he can. but is a shell of who he is. SURE, THIS STILL MAKES SENSE.
BUT THEN WHY THE FUCK IS HE FINE IN INFINITE DARKNESS. (this goes with my previous complaints about how he's just FINE in death island, which to be fair, even matt mercer has said essentially, "the power of friendship")
am i supposed to believe that in 6 years, he's been depressed, angry, resentful, and more??? he's still harbouring so much anger that he's fucking rude to everyone- and that in 1-2 years he's just oKAAY
SURE- he gets friendlier within the duration of 4R, and SURE he's polite and respectful when luis passes. and he even gets lured out to save ada when he sees that she's in danger. he's even about to go check on her before the bugs come to attack him >:( but even up to the very end, he's still mostly avoidant to ashley. (which is fair, and im so glad they removed the overtime line) saying, "you don't need me," which is a nice way to tie it back to her gaining some sense of agency. sure she's not taking on any ganados lol but she's come out of this better, stronger, SURE.
but leon? is he really okay? is it just another mission? he's not that excited to get back home, he's not that excited at all for much.
WAY too long; dr
leon was fundamentally changed so much in 4R and i feel as though the game didn't do enough of an arc to make it so that we can bridge the gaps between all the iterations of leon. i understand that he's suffering with ptsd and his own traumas, but his lashing out towards everyone else goes against his own moral principles. he's not a mean or rude person, at least not to people who don't deserve it. i find 4R leon different from his re4 counterpart, yes- but he's so different in ways that make it harder to sympathize with him and his actions.
OR I COULD BE WRONG. I DUNNO. THE WRITING OF RE IS SO POOR THAT SOMEONE COULD PROBABLY SAY IM WRONG AND FIND THINGS TO PROVE IT SJKBFSJKFSKJ

Thanks Anon. (Picture they are referring to is below)
I will say this: It's funny that they even mentioned Jill in RE6 material when she is not even in the story and subsequently isn't heard from for years. So to me, it's very curious that they have mentioned her, and for her to only be connected to Chris.
I'm not familiar with this chart, but it's cool to find little extras like this! I can see that it's only a partial scan, or a half to a whole - I'm assuming all major RE6 characters were included.
But again, why even bother adding anything about Jill, when she is not in RE6 (not even a name drop). Like, I understand Claire being there because she is connected to multiple people in RE6 - Chris, Sherry, and even Leon. But Jill? (I mean, it's silly that she's NOT mentioned in RE6 - she is a main protagonist. But I guess that's why they have her in the chart?)
So it's pretty funny to me that they have Jill, just mentioned up there in the corner. Her only connection is Chris. It's kind of cute, actually.
Like, what? Even when nothing is about Jill, Chris is still thinking about Jill and vice versa. XD
I'll share what I could find for translations/definitions of the Japanese kanji in this chart. But please be advised I do NOT read or speak Japanese and this is solely from my own efforts to find translations online.
Japanese has a lot of subtly and different characters that can be combined to create words and different meanings, so please keep that in mind when reading. Any persons that know Japanese are welcome to provide their expertise and input, thanks!
Translated Picture:
Tumblr media
Index:
Blue Lines: 友好 = friendly 友 = friend 好 = good, fine, fond, pleasing, like something Red Lines: 敵対 = hostility, opposition White Lines: 中立 = neutrality
Chris Redfield
To Claire (vice versa): FRIENDLY 兄妹 = older brother and younger sister 兄 = elder/big brother 妹 = younger sister Self explanatory. To Jill (vice versa): FRIENDLY 戦友 = comrade in arms, war buddy/friend, fellow solider. 戦 = war, battle, campaign, fight. 友 = friend, companion, comrade, pal. Makes sense as they have fought bio-terrorism (battles, wars) together as equals (they essentially have the same experience/rank and are about the same age). To Piers: FRIENDLY 後輩 = junior comrade, younger student 後 = behind, back, remainder, heir, after, afterwards, later 輩 = group, comrade, generation Chris is a Captain. Piers is younger and a less experienced comrade in the BSAA, so he is considered Chris' junior, or after him in age and experience/rank. I like the underlying meaning of Chris intending for Piers to essentially be the 'heir' to his BSAA legacy. And that Chris is all that remains at the end of it all - it's quite sad. To Unknown (off the page): HOSTILITY 仲間 = associate, company, group, member of the same category 仇 = foe, enemy Associated with enemy? I'm not sure who this is pointing to. Maybe Leon (as in Ada is the enemy)? I don't know how to translate the other characters, but I think it's because those are like our English articles and prepositions (to, the, it, is, etc)
Piers Nivans
To Chris: FRIENDLY 尊敬 = respect, esteem 尊 = noble, exalted, honor 敬 = respect, revere, give salute Which makes sense with Piers being a junior ranking comrade in the BSAA - so he would literally salute Chris in respect for his exalted (higher) status as Captain.
Albert Wesker
To Chris (vice versa): HOSTILITY 宿敵 = old/longtime enemy 宿 = home, dwell 敵 = enemy, foe, opponent Good ol' Chris and Wesker rivalry. To Jake (vice versa): NEUTRALITY 親子 = parent and child 親 = parent(s), founder 子 = child, young So weird that Wesker has a kid... It's probably for the best that Jake never really knew Wesker. To William Birkin (vice versa): NEUTRALITY 同僚 = co-worker, colleague 同 = equal, same, together 僚 = official, colleague, staff Birkin and Wesker were scientists together back in the day.
Sherry Birkin
To Claire: FRIENDLY 恩人 = patron (honored as a special guardian, protector, or supporter) 恩 = grace, kindness, favor 人 = person, people, personality Or maybe it just means that Sherry sees Claire as a kind person? To Jake: FRIENDLY 保護 = guardianship, safeguard, custody 保 = ensure, guard, defend 護 = protect Sherry's there to ensure Jake stays safe. To William (vice versa): NEUTRALITY 親子 = parent and child 親 = parent(s), founder 子 = child, young Another RE baby. Poor Sherry having to deal with both her parents demise so young, hence the neutrality. It's actually sweet of her to hold no hostility even though he practically tried to kill her in RE2.
Jake Muller
To Sherry: NEUTRALITY 金 = gold, money, cash Maybe - in it for the money? Doing it for the money? To Chris: NEUTRALITY 父親 = father 仇 = foe, enemy, hatred, grudge, harm, feud My father's enemy? Or maybe it translates to Harmed my father?
Hoobastank
(or whatever his name is XD)
To Jake: HOSTILITY 追跡 = stalking, hunt 追 = chase, follow, pursue 跡 = track, impression 捕虜 = Seize prisoner? 捕 = capture, arrest ?? 虜 or 獲 ?? = prisoner or seizure, obtain Yeah, that all seems to sum it up well. And OMG did it take me forever to find these last kanji (and I still don't think the very last one is correct! So that translation might be incorrect, sorry!)

Okay, so spoilers for most Resident Evil games/ other RE properties, also sorry this is long but I can't do read more cuts on what I'm writing this on.
Okay, so, cracks me up how different Chris Redfield looks in every single thing he's in. We all basically know who he is just if we see generic white man with short brown hair but like none of them are ever the same guy visually. This is even before the remakes/ newer properties that base the characters off actual people. Like everyone else looked similar from game to game even with the systems' differences where you could still point at them and say, "Look, it's Leon, Jill, Ada, ect."
But with Chris it was always like, "Well, they just called that guy Redfield, so I guess that's him."
Here's some things I got for that
This is him from the first game. Used the id card and the concept art because one's tiny and one's a bit anime (it was the 90's so they were all a bit anime)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then you got his next main appearance in Code Veronica. Looks a bit different, but I can still see how they got from point A to point B
Tumblr media
Then he took a break for awhile until he showed back up in 5. And everyone unanimously agreed that man beefy. Also he got the 2000's action man treatment where he now had overly gelled hair, stubble because he was to action hero man to shave, and an almost perpetual squint
Tumblr media
Then in the game we pretend not to exist (6) he got another redesign, with an earpiece that's not actually in his ear. Maybe it vibrates the outside of his ear or his skull or something and that's how he hears it. Also, get this man some glasses, his squinting is worse
Tumblr media
Then you have his appearance at the end of 7. This one looked so different that there was debate for awhile if this was even actually Chris or some other Redfield that also happened to be an elite soldier
Tumblr media
Then he shows up again in 8 with another extreme redesign. I think they were trying to make him look closer to how he did before 7, but it gave everyone whiplash. And once again, that man beefy
Tumblr media
Also not in the games but still considered cannon this is what he looks like in the most current animated movies
Tumblr media
Like I could get for the first few it was just art direction or whatever, but eventually they just started throwing different guys in there to see if we would notice.
That or the in universe theory could be he's addicted to plastic surgery. Someone call his family. Claire, Jill, and Mia need to have an intervention. It's for the baby, Chris. What sort of example are you setting for Rose?

Oh god, thank you so much for your time to reply my ask about Leon and Chris settling down. I have to admit, i wouldn't hold any hope for Capcom to do it, especially with the way things are headed with remakes.
I used to love Ada and Leon and i still do in a way but seeing as how they took a completely different route on their "romance" or lack there of, it saddens me that Ada just doesn't look like this person that would ever wanna plant here roots somewhere and actually be happy. And i think for as much as Leon cares about her and ends up trusting her, he does deserve better. I think she knows this too.
So all in all, with the power of fanfic writing and creativity, i'm gonna be a bit corny here probably and i'm sorry for that but i just love giving Leon stability, if that makes sense? I want him to just be happy with someone who will always have his back and be there for him. I want him to grow old and before all that, i'd love for him to become a dad. I think he'd be a good one, and i think it would give him alot of piece of mind and hope. I also wanted Luis to live so badly, i loved his chemistry with Leon. But again, like you said, it's just not what Capcom envisions for their main protags i suppose. Ah well. We don't need a green light from them to explore these characters in numerous ways we'd like, right?
Thank you so much for your time, you're such a lovely and warm person here on tumblr that it's just a delight to see your opinions on this franchise. 🥰
Aw hey thanks anon! It was such a surprise to me to even get your ask, cause I kinda keep to myself and don't really participate in the fandom, but I'm more than happy to talk resi on here :)
As for Leon and Ada - there's a lot of potential there, to me. I love Ada in the 4 remake specifically. They took her in a really cool direction: she's mysterious and sexy, but there's an authentic emotional core to her, where you can feel how fond she is of Leon (and, eventually, Luis) and how conflicted she is about her work. The voice acting and the fantastic subtle facial animations in the cutscenes really sold me on her. I think if they remake 6 with the same sensitivity with which they remade 4 there could be a future for Ada and Leon, because there were some touching moments between them in 6 that started to feel reconciliatory to me, like they're growing to understand and care for each other on a new level. I think if the two of them had a chance, if they felt like they had a choice, they might choose each other, eventually, and I'd be really curious to see what that would look like.
Re: wanting to give Leon stability, that's not corny at all! He deserves peace and quiet and love, however he gets there and whatever it looks like for him. I've read so much fic and have seen so much art where he gets to grow old and content in so many different ways, and it's all very cathartic for me... I guess Capcom could surprise me and come up with a darker ending for him that still feels right to me, I'm not discounting that outright, but for now I'm having a nice time with softer scenarios for him, whether that's with Ada or Luis or Chris or whoever else!
Thanks again for your asks :) There's so much I adore about these games and characters, and that's what I like posting about here. Glad it resonates with you!

That was half an hour ago – and still no replies from Frederic.
So Ah resorted to keeping her eyes on the CCTV cameras, watching Chris and Piers still in the monitor room. Piers was tapping away, visibly frustrated as Chris stood by patiently. She frowned when the window request popped up again.
AUTHORIZATION REQUESTED IN B4 WEST MONITOR ROOM.
But for what?
Frederic told her time and time again before he left; reject the request – do not let them in the bunker.
Yeah, neither did she know what that meant but rejected the request for the fourth time. Hey, it wasn’t even an hour since she was told she was immune to any bodily harm with the antibodies – and she didn’t die.
Cut her some slack; let her be her naive self for a bit more.
Piers in the screen visibly gave up; informing Chris about the whole ordeal then Chris set his rifle aside and took Piers’s spot on the computer – So Ah’s eyes softened at this.
To her and she was sure to everyone else, Chris was a good guy. He worried about his men, hence why he ordered Piers to stay in the aircraft. He would let go of his judgements to save anyone – though it’d be a bit hard without some convincing. He held a brute leadership personality and hid his soft side behind boulder-punching muscles and a scowl.
He even saved her from bleeding out – which now that she thinks about it, she wondered if the virus would’ve turned her if that thorn wasn’t taken care of; but then again, she fell nearly a hundred and fifty feet off of the pathway and didn’t die.
That’s what she gets for being the main character I guess...
AUTHORIZATION REQUESTED IN B4 WEST MONITOR ROOM.
So Ah noticed Chris’s hands clenching over the keyboard in anticipation and she almost whined at the sense of being lost. She tried to watch the other rooms and the map to figure out just what they needed the authorization for – then her eyes froze on the quarantined west room.
She couldn’t see what was inside, figuring the room didn’t have cameras but what else would he need authorization for?
“Frederic... Frederic, come in.” So Ah tried to reach her family doctor but to no avail.
Seriously, do we really trust him?
She blinked at her inner voice; touché...
Before she could ponder more, she tapped on YES and returned her eyes to the camera, seeing Chris beam at the screen before giving Piers a prideful smile while Piers only scoffed in disbelief, rolling his eyes. A chuckle left through her lips at their childish antics, smiling faintly.
Then a gun clicked which made her freeze on the spot.
“Didn’t expect to see you so soon.” That voice spoke with a hint of an impressed tone and So Ah turned around to face the lady in red.
“Cath – Ada... What are you doing here?”
So Ah was scared.
Sure, she doesn’t trust Frederic that much but she doesn’t have any idea about what Ada wanted. All she knows is that Ada – maybe – slept with her current ex and that was all. If Ada really did release the virus, who knows what else she’s capable of?
“I was about to ask you the same thing,” Ada said with a tilted smile and her gun aimed at the silent girl. Ada then glanced behind So Ah just in time to see Chris and Piers run out of the room and she hummed.
“Wow, already backstabbing your family doctor? That’s new.” Ada taunted to which So Ah furrowed her brows in concern, throwing a glance at the screen then back at the lady.
“Do you... Do you know what Chris wants?”
“We don’t see eye to eye – what he wants is different from what I want.”
“What do you want then?” So Ah countered in an almost snappy tone to seem intimidating but she knew her act’s for shit.
Even Ada knew that, but she humoured the girl.
“Your blood contains something I need,” Ada said, moving closer towards the girl who began moving away, “Something Sonny stole from Wesker.”
“Wesker?”
“His supervisor,” Ada huffed, seemingly offended to have someone as high as Albert Wesker choose someone as low as Frederic, “Your doctor took all the samples regarding the G-Virus strains – all but one.”
So Ah eyed in caution when Ada took out a small capsule, waving the green liquid inside in accomplishment and she took a step back, noting Ada’s smile widening just a bit.
“So, it’s true...”
“True? About what?”
“You released the virus – you started this whole outbreak.” So Ah accused and blinked when Ada laughed– like not even a fake one. It was sarcastic but it was the kind where it’s ‘man-this-is-so-funny-it’s-sad’.
“Really, is that what Sonny told you?” Ada asked, raising her eyebrows, “That sounds like him alright.”
“What...” So Ah trailed away, “What do you mean?”
“Guess I have to spell it out for you,” Ada sighed in feigned disapproval before lowering her gun, “Sonny worked with Wesker for years, you could say they were close friends.”
“Wesker funded Sonny’s Project PANSY, which I’m aware you know about it now –”
“I actually... Don’t...”
Ada almost gave the poor girl a sympathetic look – almost.
“Sonny injected you with an enhancer that held traces of the G-Virus itself. That’s the reason why you were the only reliable host for the Plaga – Sonny used you as a little case for his experiments; calling the whole project; PANSY.”
So Ah’s knees buckled and she fell onto the chair behind her in shock at a story from another point of view – but Ada continued on.
“Having been told that you were worth millions to other corporations similar to Umbrella, Sonny stole the files and moved to Green Life for protection from Wesker where he continued working on his project. Our intel revealed that Sonny was contacted by Tricell Pharmaceuticals when they saw you, pansy...”
“Of course, Wesker didn’t like that so...” Ada trailed away, her irises taking in the small form of So Ah in slight amusement and pity, “He sent assassins after Sonny.”
“Unsurprisingly, Sonny was prepared so he informed Tricell who released the virus globally by the use of fireworks – you could say the year started off with a bang.”
So Ah gave Ada a stare of disbelief at her inconvenient joke but Ada only seemed pleased with herself.
“I’ll admit, Wesker could’ve targeted Sonny only but he doesn’t take traitors well – so he released the virus in this facility.”
“W...” So Ah searched for her voice, swallowing heavily, “Why here? Why mom and dad?”
Ada merely just shrugged, “I know Wesker well enough now – he doesn’t really care much about white knights against the virus.”
So Ah went quiet again, eyes glancing around on the floor as if her train of thought was waiting for her to say anything.
“How do you know all of this?” So Ah asked, looking back up at Ada, “How can I trust you?”
Ada chuckled, “Oh, you shouldn’t trust a Wong, pansy.” She smiled slyly when the nickname only made So Ah tenser.
“I work with Wesker too, but I don’t always play by his rules,” Ada admitted and So Ah blinked at her, especially when she tossed over a gun.
So Ah struggled a bit before holding it steadily in surprise, eyes widening at the hot pink substance in the capsule, “What’s this?”
“In case you meet the friendly chimpanzee,” Ada said coyly before nodding her head to the CCTV and So Ah eyed in curious wariness then stood up to make her way to the monitors.
The camera overlooked a wide incineration room with what seemed to be a bubbling pool of acid in the middle with tunnels occasionally throwing in scraps and objects. Her heart nearly leapt out of her chest when a certain agent ran across the platform with his handgun readied up – then George thudded his way in, visibly snarling at the agent.
“Leon...” So Ah whispered, growing worried and Ada tilted her eyes downwards at the girl in amusement.
“If only there was someone with the PHANTOM sample to save him...” Ada muttered, pretending to be just as concerned and So Ah snapped her eyes up at the mercenary then back down at the injection gun in her hand.
“But... How will it work? Who will he listen to?” So Ah questioned, feeling angsty and Ada only gave her a knowing look.
“Only one way to find out, hm?” Ada made her way to the other side of the desk, pulling out the USB from before and plugging it in, “It’s better than nothing.”
So Ah watched in silence as the computer began transferring files and she thought she had to stop her – but Leon was her priority now.
So Ah had been told multiple stories from different points of view – and she knew Ada enough when they used to work together; though Ada was Cathy back then.
Cathy was always brutally honest – didn’t see a need to lie but she was also worryingly good at manipulating anyone to alter a plan or to get her something.
“Uhm, wait, before I go...” So Ah spoke out and Ada only hummed, acknowledging her presence.
“Back in the computer room, you said you weren’t really interested in defective men so uh... Did you really not sleep with Ji Dae?”
Ada raised an eyebrow at the girl, “Does it matter?”
So Ah’s eyes lowered a bit in shame before giving her a faint smile, “You could say it would help me sleep better.”
Ada stared at her with eyes So Ah could not read then clicked her tongue, returning her attention to the monitor, “No – Sonny’s project was involved.”
“How?”
“He found out when your stress levels rise, it would help in the evolvement of the Plaga inside of you,” Ada said, her entire focus on the screen, not even bothering to look at the girl to know that she was surprised.
“So...” So Ah trailed away in slight confusion at the measly thought in her head, “You pretended to sleep with him to...”
“I’ll admit – I never expected it to go this far.” Ada interrupted her, sharp irises looking at So Ah from the corner of her eyes, “But this is Sonny we’re talking about – are you really surprised at this point?”
So Ah tried to be surprised and to stop desensitizing the most horrible things that have been happening to her so far – but seriously, she hated the way her mind was becoming nonchalant lately.
Because honestly, what else could go wrong? About ninety percent of your life was basically some sick project constructed by Frederic – the same man who you thought of as a father figure.
She tilted her head at her inner voice; Wait till my therapist hears about this.
You don’t have one.
I might as well get one.
“Pansy,” Ada’s voice brought her back to Earth and smiled slyly, nudging her head towards the camera; Leon was still in trouble.
“Oh, sorry–” So Ah stammered before running to the door then stopping.
Wait.
Frederic thinks she’s on his side and he trusts her enough to be set behind the main controls of the lab; the same lab where the virus is kept. So Ah wanted enough of this all. She didn’t care who wanted the virus, why or for whom; she wanted everything to stop – burn it all to the ground.
“Uhm... Think you can leave before Frederic comes back?” So Ah asked in a shy manner and Ada could see the girl had a plan then grinned.
“He won’t even know I was here.”
Running down the facility’s corridors should’ve been fluent by now, but it was exhausting. So Ah expected more from her body, especially when she’s got the antibody within the Plaga itself – the thought of having superhuman powers did cross her mind at some point.
All she wished for was athletic skills and infinite paint – no, really, the ability to make paint without becoming broke was a dream of hers.
It didn’t have anything to do with the Plaga itself but it was a nice thought.
Panting heavily, she stumbled into a lab room – she really did not have any idea how to get to the incineration room. It seemed it would be downstairs but throughout her little marathon, no stairs or lift was in sight that would take her lower.
With the adrenaline pumping through her veins and heart pounding in her ears, So Ah located a garbage chute.
And the light bulb in her head clicked on.
✠✠
One thing that was constant in Leon’s line of work is anyone at some point would die. It didn’t matter who; a partner, a friend he made on the way, a civilian, someone he had saved, someone he almost saved but was too late – anyone would die. Literally, it did not matter how close he got with them, building a trustworthy relationship and saving each other throughout the mission – he always walked away in one piece.
But they never did.
And it’s not like he grew accustomed to it – it’s something that happened in almost every operation that God-forsaken division always sends him to. The guilt burning in his bones and questions of ‘If I had just ___’ crawling in his head; alcohol never tasted so good.
It wasn’t right – but then again, this whole killing zombie work was something he swore to do.
Leon always had the inclination to help others; it’s why he joined the force. Sure he wasn’t the cop he wanted to be but he still got to save people. It fed into his dream.
But was he good at it?
He lost her.
And seeing the annoying motherfucker who ruined everything still walk and has the audacity to try and take a chomp out of the agent – it only made Leon more so upset.
He knew better than to let his emotions take hold of him; he’ll drown in the bar after this though.
“Enough is enough,” Leon growled with a glare, his Lightening Hawk steady on the mutated George who only snarled back, beady eyes piercing the agent’s soul.
As sad yet cool as it was, Leon’s abilities were sharper than ever after witnessing his sweetheart’s fall. Throughout the facility in search of her parents, all hostiles were sent to the ground as soon as they got up.
Regenerators? Gone.
Zombies with spikes? What’s that?
Acidic zombies that explode? Never heard of ‘em – how do they like their eggs in the morning?
No one would know since Leon’s Lightening Hawk took them down with a precise headshot and seeing George still standing fuelled the fire more in the DSO agent.
Leon’s eyes narrowed down at George; if he could only get that giant bastard into the bubbling acid, then that would be the end of him.
Leon owed it to everyone who lost their lives to this monstrosity; he owed it to her.
The tendrils on George’s back quivered in anticipation, his claws tightening their grip on the walkway beneath his weight as he growled, readying himself to pounce.
With all the objects clunking into the sizzling pool of acid and George’s groans along with the sticky heat of the incineration room, the sound of high-pitched shrieking growing louder really brought Leon out of his concentration.
Even George’s head perked up to the noise – it looked comical.
Leon kept his eyes focused on George, though they too would dart up to know where the sound was coming from.
✠✠
“Shit, shit, shit!”
Sliding down the chute was no walk in the park. In fact, So Ah much preferred to relive her childhood by sliding down an actual slide. At least she could see where she was going and it was straight to the sandy playground.
But this?
She didn’t even know if it would lead to the incineration room’s pathway or straight into the bowl of acid she goes – she prayed that her luck was on her side at least this one time. The stench of the burnt chemicals and steel made her nose crinkle and her eyes sting at the smell.
She would’ve gagged if it weren’t for the classic light at the end of the tunnel – though this was less of a ‘thank-you-god-I’ve-been-good’ and more of a ‘holy-fuck-this-crush-is-going-to-be-the-death-of-me-I’m-going-to-DIE.’
Of course, it was too long to say so she resorted to screaming Korean gibberish; if anything, God understood what she was saying... I guess.
Her wide caramels went wider if possible when her body began falling downwards and her entire body locked up instantly at the traumatic feeling. Her screams hitched up in her throat and her arm shot downwards to push her skirt low – what a fucking bad day to be in a skirt.
The warm atmosphere wafted roughly against her and her mind was too focused on the chimpanzee beneath her to notice a certain pair of blue eyes widening at her. Her hand tightened its grip on the injection gun then hoped for the best.
“Oomf!” A huff of air was forced out of her chest when So Ah landed on George’s back who bellowed at the weight.
“So Ah?”
The girl barely paid attention to the surprised man and stabbed the gun’s sharp tip into George’s nape then shot the PHANTOM sample in. George screamed and began trying to shake her off like that one Taylor Swift song as she let out a small gasp, her free hand gripping onto whatever’s left of his fur to stay balanced but the tendrils had other plans.
“So Ah!”
So Ah let out a yelp when one of the tendrils slammed her side hard, sending her body flying across the acid’s pool and hit the wall, emitting an ‘ack!’ sound. Pain erupted like fire in her spine when she fell down to the ground, groaning in pain through squeezed shut eyes.
Leon, on the other hand, forced himself to snap out of his shocked state momentarily to harden his grip on his handgun at the yowling George, watching through narrowed eyes and furrowed brows as George only seemed to be in excruciating pain with whatever So Ah had just done.
George would shake his head, eyes closed tightly as his tendrils swung wildly then he pounced high into the air, clawing onto one of the tunnels and kept doing so till he broke through the glass wall above – he ran away.
Leon lowered his gun, tilting his head up before pained soft groans reached his ears, sending his heart into overdrive as he snapped his head towards the girl who was deemed dead until a few minutes ago.
“Should’ve expected that...” So Ah whined, rubbing the dull pain in her lower back as she pushed herself up to her feet, looking up to where George ran off then quick boot steps took her attention from the ceiling.
Leon was rushing towards her in long strides with awe-stricken azures and her heart banged against her ribs at the sight of him – he was in one piece. George hadn’t hurt him. She came right on time and that made her beam a relieved smile as she began taking a few steps towards him.
“Guess I made it on time for the party.” So Ah joked, referring back to his previous comment but Leon didn’t snip back anything; okay, that’s not like him.
Instead, as if the whole universe was waiting for this very specific moment of 175,827 words and 683 pages of depth and build-up – Leon’s big hands covered her cheeks and pulled her in for a long-anticipated kiss.
His lips met hers in a bruising way and the chaotic world around her disappeared in an instant. The force when they collided into one another made her stumble backwards, but as she went, he followed. With widened cinnamons, So Ah was now sure Leon was kissing her.
He was kissing her.
Of course this wasn’t her first kiss; she’s had a handful before from previous lovers – but no one ever kissed her the way Leon was doing right now.
It was filled with need and it showed when Leon’s hand trailed to curl his fingers behind her head to apply more pressure to the kiss, the other one trailing down to her waist where he closed the space between them. His hold on her was stubborn, sending electrifying fire through her veins and red rushed to her face.
Desperate for one another, her eyes fluttered shut and finally succumbed to his soft cushiony lips – no, seriously, what kind of God-send lip balm does this man use?
It was in that moment, surrounded by his musk as his lips danced with hers in sync with his nose bumping against hers just the slightest did she realize; she wanted him. It hit her like an epiphany – since day two of seeing Leon grin at her with a drink in hand, having just watched her shower herself by her hose.
Passion exploded within her chest, sending her heart into overload – she loved him. She wasn’t that sure before but with his fingers gripping into the back of her lab coat and the hand on her jaw holding her in place as his lips moved were intoxicating – she knew she loved him. It used to be a crush that she thought would be gone by time.
But this lip-lock proved her wrong, igniting the fire in her and pushed her into moving her shaking hand to his arm as she kissed back; parting her lips shyly just a little and made him want more.
Her lips to him were cloud pillows from fucking Heaven. The amount of love she felt through the one not-so-simple kiss was immense and the way he was kissing her was indescribable – literally unable to put her feelings into words.
And a faint whine came from her at Leon’s deep hum – then he moved away much to her dismay.
Their lips parted with a faint pop and So Ah greedily breathed in air. Those half-lidded blueblue eyes were glistening under the pale lights of the incinerating pool, filled with utter relief and his perfect shaped brows were furrowed more than before. Leon was breathing slightly heavily, resting his forehead against hers.
Blues taking her all in – she was alive.
“I thought I lost you...” Leon murmured, voice coming out a bit raspier at the kiss.
So Ah leaned into his hand with a soft gaze, receiving a small smile from him as he stroked her cheekbone with his thumb, “I'm sorry...”
Shaking his head incredulously, his hands trailed to hers, taking a step back to give her a once over. Leon still couldn’t believe she wasn’t gone and she saw that. The life in those sharp irises was prominent than ever and she blushed deeply at the intensity of his gaze then he looked back at her.
“How? I – I saw you fall.” Leon questioned lowly, the hint of please in his tone made her heart shudder and she frowned, recalling their argument prior to the whole incident.
“Frederic found me...” So Ah admitted, lowering her eyes down to their hands, “You were right about him – about everything.”
She took his silence as means to continue, assuming he was disappointed in her or some shit, “I’m sorry for ever doubting you, Leon... I was just really confused and–”
“Hey,” Leon tilted her chin up with loving eyes, “You had every right to be upset. I haven’t been fair to you either. I should be the one apologizing... I’m sorry.”
Her red lips twitched up into a soft smile, tears stinging her eyes before he wrapped his arms around her small form, embracing her deeply.
“I’m glad you’re okay, sweetheart.” His voice warmed her neck, sending the butterflies in her to overdrive.
“Me too...” She whispered back with her arms around his neck.
She wanted to stay like this forever, away from the bloodshed and anything related to a global outbreak.
Golgotha virus? Is that soup?
Evil mad scientist? What is this; dramatic opera?
Cannibalistic reanimated zombies along with a giant mutated chimpanzee on the loose? Might as well be a circus.
But it was all wishful thinking as she parted away from the hug and his hand held onto hers, fingers intertwined which she subconsciously blushed at.
“Come on, let’s find your parents and get the hell out of here,” Leon ordered gently and began making his way to the door, pulling her with him but with a slight tug from her; he stopped.
“You find my parents.” So Ah said with purposeful eyes, “They’re in the west quarantine room according to Frederic. Find them then get out while you can.”
“Wait – wait.” His fingers on hers tightened to keep her from leaving him again, “I’m not getting you out of my sight.”
“Leon–”
“No, So Ah.” Leon frowned, taking a step towards her to gently cup her jawline, “I can’t lose you again.”
She sighed faintly, leaning into his touch without giving it a second thought, “You won’t lose me, Leon.”
“So Ah–”
“Trust me.” She interrupted before smiling reassuringly at him, “I’ve got a plan, okay?”
His lips were in a scowl with clearly conflicted eyes as he thought it over – he really did not want to let her go.
Stepping onto the tips of her feet, she pressed a shy peck on his lips to ease his nerves and Leon instantly reciprocated by applying more pressure.
God... I don’t want this moment to end... But...
“I’ll be back, okay?” She whispered when they pulled away, lips barely brushing against his and his eyes darted up to hers.
She knew he was reluctant, and it revealed so when his hold on her hand loosened hesitantly, silently indicating that she can go.
“What are you going to do?” Leon asked and she hummed lightly, pressing her lips into a thin line slightly before returning her eyes to his; fuelled with fiery determination.
“I’m craving cookies.”

How RE Village (8) SOLVED almost every problem that I had with RE Series
Okay - a few weeks ago I made a post that was “The ones that suffer the most” where I showed and explained my main problems with Chris and Jill and the RE series in general
Tumblr media
RE 1 is my fav game of this series and probably one of my all time favs, I player every RE there is to be played except 4 (because I dislike Leon, sry)
Recently, specially after 4, the franchise had a few problems, specially in writing/map design/lore
Resident evil 5 for example (I love this game) but it has it flaws, Chris there is only driven by anger and action - Sheva is used as a tool for lore exposition and to be Chris’s new partner
PLEASE: be aware that game at that generation didn’t have much lore - with some exceptions, like God of War 1 2 3 were a simply game with a simple lore, and the most recent GoW has evolved a little bit in the storytelling
Until we hit rock bottom in RE6 - I know a lot of people like this game, but this is only and action game, bad writing and generic stages.
Chris there is so mistreated that makes me mad (if you want to read more about this go to my other post “the ones that suffer the most”)
Until RE7 appeared, Capcom had a new engine and they wanted to do a game that was more horror like - since RE is know for being a Survival horror game.
I liked 7 - some people complained about Ethan being without emotion and others complained about the mold, a few didn’t like the FEAR vibes from Eveline.
I personally enjoyed the game, I thought RE series was going back on track, that game has it’s problems but it was really nice compared to what we had in 6.
After that game I had a conversation with my best friend and I said that I wanted a game that portrayed Umbrella’s fall since the only game that shows this is Umbrellas Chronicles (and that is most a resume of what happened)
And I said: “Bro, I wish that when they made that game, they could tie some mythological lore and human evolution before Umbrella - using Spencer, this would solve LOT OF STUFF and open new ways to handle this series”
and guess what - this happened in RE8 and kudos to the one writer that did that, i have my gratitude.
RESIDENT EVIL 8 is probably one of the BEST RE games that we had IN YEARS
And I want to address all thing that I loved in this game and do some predictions to what will happen in the next games.
“WELL WELL IF IT ISN’T ETHAN WINTERS” (The Father of the year)
Tumblr media
My father was not a great guy... really, so I want to be the best dad ever, I really want be like Ethan - a guy who is ready to sacrifice and fight every monster in the way to save my family.
Ethan was a character that in RE7 was used to make us fell like that it was us in the Baker’s house, so that is why he didn’t had that much personality (in my opinion) but they changed that in RE8, here he has nice dialogues AND a diary
He has one of the best story line in the whole REverse, a guy that did EVERYTHING in his power to save his daughter - and you saw that playing the game, every sentence line that he delivered, he tried to save others too and even tho Chris said to him stay put ... but he couldn’t, he had to go to the altar, he had to help Chris, he had to go forward and keep going, specially after having the tools to face Heisenberg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The plea from a father, that was his last wish, after he heard that Mia was alive he knew that someone had to stop that monster, he made a promise to his daughter “Daddy won’t let those weird fairy tale monsters get you” so he trusted Chris, to be the one that teaches his kid how to be brave and strong
I will not address Chris and Rose situation here because this is Ethans part and he deserves completely all the spotlight, his sacrifice was 100x times better than Steve (CV)/Piers(6)
My cheers to Ethan Winters - You have my respect !
Revelations -> RE8
So leaks from earlier times said that RE8 sucked and Revelations 3 was amazing
Revelations FYI is know for using old tales in RE stories
Revelations 1 - Dante’s Inferno
Revelations 2 - Frans Kafka
Revelations 3 - Dracula
But since RE8 sucked, Capcom said to the REV3 team that they could make REV3 become RE8 and they accepted
Revelations series is one of the best in the games, they handle Jill in a way that I love, Claire and even Barry - so they deserve all the spotlight for making this awesome game - you CLEARLY can see that they love this series and that they treat all the characters with the love that they deserve.
Keeping that in mind, they are the same team that made Rev 2 and in REV 2 we have this file here
Tumblr media
So they had a plan for Jill and we can see that in RE8 - I will address that later but keep that in mind - this team cares for the old characters, they were the ones that brought Barry back to the games :V
Chris Redfield
This is a hard one, because he is my fav character and I usually have the most critics regard him, since I’ve expect a lot from Capcom
In the latest games they made him kind dumb, only muscles type of guy and an alcoholic that let all the people in his surroundings die (RE5,RE6,Vendetta)
RE6 treats him the WORST
But in RE8 he had an amazing part in the storyline, it was obvious that he wasn’t evil and they FIXED HIS EYE COLOR - FINALLY
I still don’t like the model face that much but it’s way better than 7 - so I believe Capcom, I still feel that he need more jawline
But let’s go to the most important thing - here he really feels like a squad leader and a veteran, he has his team but he is the one in the front line, he covers and ask for help when he needs, everything about his line delivery makes you feel like “Woah, this guy is a badass, he is not some stupid guy only driven by emotions”
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FINALLY GETTING THIS RIGHT
If you remember my post about the ones that suffer the most / Jill is also in that list and I will talk about her a little bit later but if my guess is right RE8 saved her character aswell
Another thing that I enjoyed here is the fact that he is kind of a mercenary / Neo Umbrella kind of guy, even tho he is one of the founders of the BSAA
So I will give you all my score to this game:
9/10
I won’t give 10/10 because of some technical issues, the cursor lock didn’t work and mouse sensitivity was i dunno, not the best.
RE8 and the future (PREDICTIONS)  - Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, BSAA, Neo Umbrella, Ada Wong and Rosemary
First let’s look Rose
The first time I saw Rose all grown up - I thought to myself : She has the same problem as Eveline (age a lot faster than normal)
But she also absorbed Miranda’s power since the metalicite (something like this) thought that she was a better host. - so maybe she will live longer or something because I doubt that they will do a 14 years time skip.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is not the same as Terra Save logo (Claire’s job) but it kind reminds me of it - her shoes appeared at least 3 times in this cut scene so maybe they are trying to show some hints with this
Tumblr media
She really reminds me of Jodie (Beyond two souls, a game where a girl has a lot of power and the gov uses her in missions and stuff, but she also is learning how to be her own person)
Another thing here is that they don’t have a logo in this car, it really reminds me the car that Chris as using in RE8
Tumblr media
This supports the theory that Chris’s organization is dealing with her instead of the BSAA, the she is a hot headed girl and that she had a lot of powers.
Tumblr media
So here you can say that she is just a kid because she is a teenager, but what if she actually grows older really fast (like Eveline) maybe this is just 1 year later / 2 yrs later. (after RE8)
Tumblr media
So this is the tricky part, this is Chris’s guard/soldier, someone that Chris trust to stand by her side, in my mind I do believe that Chris is kind of a father figure to her, so when this guys says this he is thinking about hot head Chris but she replies “Yeah” thinking about Ethan - (she has the mold memories, so she can actually remember Ethan’s memories)
Now let’s look at this
Tumblr media
BSAA
So in REV1 is hinted that BSAA is not the best organization in the world, but since our heroes work there we think that they are the good guys right ?
In REV 2 (it’s important to remember that the team that created RE8 is the same from the REVELATIONS and they had this file here in REV2)
Tumblr media
This email is from Jill and what does Jill have ? T-Virus
Wesker is a different case since he was a project and she had the vaccine but this would make a lot of sense if they had this tests with Jill to get the T-Virus
If that is the case, they explained Jill’s absence in the main games, could even explain why Chris left BSAA and opened a new window to a lot of possibilities
My Predictions:
- Chris had trouble dealing with BSAA and Jill’s case, he wanted to get her out of there, maybe he removed her from there but that resulted in him being expelled from the force
-Jill may or may not know what they are doing with her blood, but she will have a huge part in the BOW used by BSAA
-Chris is married to Jill (sorry- I had to place this here, in a perfect world he has two kids with her and they all love aunt Rose)
-Chris will hopefully be a father figure to Rose and they will be in a game together since in the end they came to get her
-Rebecca is still involved in BSAA activities (leak from new REV3) if you consider Vendetta canon, she maybe the one that used Jill’s sample of blood to create the virus soldiers
-Barry maybe retired
-I don’t think Leon will be in this game, but he will get his RE4 Rmk
- I do believe RE9 will be release after Code veronica rmk and MAYBE they will do a game about Umbrella’s Fall (Chris and Jill in Europe against Red Queen and BOWs)
But that is it, you can see a lot of elements from old RE games in RE8, they tried to do something really smart and the game felt amazing to play, that was something else and it’s been a while since a player a RE game that made me feel that way <3

6. Claire
She was running through the chaotic streets of Raccoon City. The hordes of undead tailing right behind her with their horrid growls and that putrid smell of the dead. She had run out of ammo, which meant that if she got cornered, she was in trouble.
She had gotten separated from Leon, and she did not even know if the young man was still alive at all.
Claire took a turn and found herself cornered; it was a dead-end, and she had no bullets. The horrid cannibal monsters were moving slowly to her.
It was it; this was her end.
Claire woke up, startled, and she felt the sun rays coming through the holes in the ceiling, hit her on her face. Her breathing was agitated, and she took some seconds to recover.
She hated those nightmares. They were a recurrent thing, but it had been a while since she dreamt of Raccoon. The city where everything began vanished. With the years, the memories from the place had gotten buried under fresher incidents. Her nightmares were often about nonsense or about places she had visited more recently.
Claire looked around her, remembering where she was. It was morning already, and Leon did not wake her for the shift.
She was slightly annoyed, but at the same time, she was grateful. She knew Leon had done it to let her recover.
She stretched and grabbed her head. The pain was still there, but it was significantly lesser, and her vision was back to normal, too, which meant the effects of the hit were starting to pass.
"Hey, good morning, sleeping beauty," Leon greeted her, and she rolled her eyes.
Claire had forgotten how much of a charmer Leon was when it came to dealing with ladies. Their interactions were on the friendly side, and he had long stopped using his flirty tones on her, so it was the first time in years that she heard him use that tone with her.
"Good morning, cheater," she answered, "I thought we agreed you would wake me up for a guard shift."
Leon snorted.
"I tried, but you just fell asleep again."
"I...I did?" Claire answered in shock.
"Yeah, after saying you wanted ten more minutes," Leon smirked, "Besides, you looked to be enjoying yourself. When was the last time you had a good night of sleep?"
When was it? Claire tried to remember when was the last time she had slept more than three hours without interruptions, but she couldn't remember. Between nightmares and work, she had skipped a lot of sleeping hours in the last few months. Naturally, Claire would not tell him about that.
"What is that supposed to mean?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I am just asking," he replied, shaking his head. "You just looked like you had not slept well in a while."
"Well, I hardly think that sleeping in a dilapidated cottage surrounded by mutant monsters can be considered a good sleep."
Leon snorted.
"Anywhere is a good place when you are exhausted," he reasoned.
Claire was not going to argue that. She had to admit that even though it had not been the best sleeping in her existence, she had rested nicely that night. She was not in her best shape, but at least she would not be as useless now.
"I am not discussing my sleep patterns with you, Leon," Claire sighed. "We should head out and try to find a way out of here."
"Yeah, but first, let me see your head."
Claire did not argue, and she allowed the agent to check her. After some minutes, he stood and helped Claire on her feet. The auburn headed accepted his hand and pushed herself up. She tested her stability and was rejoiced to see that she wasn't dizzy anymore. However, her head still hurt, and if she made the wrong move, she was sure she would stumble.
"How is your head?" Leon asked.
"Stingy, but alright. I am ready to go."
"Are you sure? I think we can afford some minutes if you need them."
"No, I'm ok. Let's move."
"Ok. I tried to contact Hunnigan several times yesterday. My signal still has interference, but I think I managed to connect. She might be able to track our location, and I am sure your dear brother will be here soon."
"Yeah, with the big guns, I supposed."
"I just hope he won't use them against me."
"Nah, not even Chris is that unreasonable, and if it makes you feel better, I can talk on your behalf," Claire chuckled, "he usually listens to me."
"I bet he does."
"Alright, then. We must try to stay in one piece until then," Claire reasoned, "We can try to gather supplies as we go, but I don't think our captors have left ammo lying around for us."
"One never knows," Leon said, checking his gun, "So, just like old times?"
"Yeah, I guess you don't get the pleasure of going solo this time, superagent," Claire smirked, picking her rifle and walking out.
"I have no complaints about my partner," she heard Leon mutter behind her.
The place looked a lot different in daylight. Compared to other places she had been, Claire was pleased to see a change of scenery. The sight of trees, grasslands, and the fresh air was a nice change from the acrid air of tunnels and underground facilities.
"Oh, that's right," Claire said, "The locals here..."
"Yeah, they are infected by an improved strain of Plagas."
"An improved strain of Plagas?" Claire said.
"Hum, yeah. I had the pleasure of dealing with it some years ago, during a mission in the East Slav Republic. Aim at their heads, but be careful since some of them can mutate after being destroyed."
"I guess that makes sense. I thought the symptoms looked familiar, but I couldn't quite connect them to anything I knew," Claire nodded, "I guess you've been busy, Leon."
"I could say the same about you."
Claire chuckled. They all had been busy. Chris and the BSAA were always fighting in the frontlines when an attack came, while Leon and the DSO worked diligently tracking terrorists, as well. Claire wondered if she would ever get to spend a day with her family and friends like any other person.
"What can I say? Work is a demanding boyfriend," Claire shrugged.
"Well, you sure have a singular taste for your boyfriends. Have you not thought of getting a real one for a change?"
Claire snorted at the suggestion. Getting a real boyfriend was something she had long given up. Her work demands rarely gave her free time, and what was the point of having a relationship when she had no time to dedicate to it?
"I am fine. I never had a real one when I was young, and the Racoon City mess just put an end to any attempts. It doesn't matter."
"You didn't have a boyfriend before this began? Somehow I find that hard to believe."
"Really? Why?"
"When I met you, you looked like the kind of girl that any guy would chase around."
"Oh, well. I suppose there were guys interested, but if Chris didn't chase them away, it was my personality who spooked them."
"Chris scared off your potential guys?"
"Yeah, something like that, but it wasn't all his fault. I played my part, scaring some, too. "
"I can't see how you would do that."
Claire snorted.
"Please, Leon. Honestly, I am surprised you were not scared the first time we met. What guy feels comfortable with a tomboyish girl who handles guns and fights as I did?"
"I think that was what I liked most from you..." Leon answered sincerely. "You were not of those girls who waited for someone to save her."
"Well, I guess you have a weird taste, as well," Claire laughed, "Besides, my luck with men sucks. Either they get killed, or they turn out to be traitors..."
Claire sighed. Why was she telling him this? Leon had no interest in that, but surprisingly, she found that telling him these things was easy.
"What do you mean with that?" Leon asked curiously, "Any ex-boyfriend that I haven't heard of?"
Claire stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him skeptically.
"Leon, you can't be talking seriously."
"Why not? I'm trying to catch up. It's been ages since we had a casual conversation," Leon said, "When was the last time we talked about something that was not related to a mission?"
He was right. Even their friendly calls ended up being about their missions and their jobs. They rarely talked about anything outside of that. They had crossed paths in one or two of the BSAA meetings, but they had never stopped to chat about things outside their work.
"So, ex-boyfriends?"
"None," Claire sighed, "I met a couple of nice guys once, but they got killed in an outbreak. Then years later, I met this colleague at TerraSave. I thought he was a decent guy, but it turned out he was selling us as guinea pigs to Alex Wesker in exchange for a sample of Ouroboros. As I said, my luck with men sucks."
Leon didn't answer. He continued to listen to her as she spoke.
"Looking at the bright side, Chris gets to brag about being the only man in my life."
"That's a lie," Leon said, "You have other men in your life."
"I suppose I might, but I have morals, Leon. I can't call someone taken as my man," Claire chuckled, "What about charmer?"
"What about me? I guess I am the same as you. My job is a demanding girlfriend."
"Really? There I thought you would have made some progress with Ada."
"Sorry to disappoint you, but Ada and I have a different kind of relationship."
"Yeah, right. That's what you call it."
Claire chuckled in amusement at Leon's look. She knew those two had something between them. That was the main reason why Claire had given up the idea of getting together with Leon in the first place. Even if she had a crush on him back then, Leon's thoughts were always about Ada, and she could not compete against that.
"Oh, Leon..." Claire said, looking ahead.
Leon looked as well and gave her a silent nod. The two jumped into some bushes and stayed low as a group of infected locals walked past them. To their relief, none of the infected noticed them, and so far, there had been no signs from the mutant creatures that Claire had met the night before.
"I think the wisest move now is to avoid conflict unless it is necessary," Leon said.
"I am with you with that. You'll want to save your bullets for the big ones," Claire nodded, looking at him.
"Big ones?" Leon asked with a frown.
"Yeah, nasty things. They took me by surprise yesterday, and I blew up the town in panic. The explosion was a little bigger than I thought, but well, I was desperate, and I wasn't thinking clearly."
"I didn't meet any last night," Leon said, "but I trust your word, any idea of what it is?"
"Nope. I've never seen anything like it. I dare say it might be a new strain. I guess we get the privilege to test them."
"What an honor," Leon said sarcastically. "Alright, so plan. We need to figure out the terrain, so I think we should try to find a good vantage point to look at what we are facing. There's a rocky cliff in that direction, do you see it?"
"Yup, I do."
"I hope you are in the mood for hiking."
"Leon, if you know me the way you say you do, you'll know I'll never be in the mood for hiking."
Leon smirked.
"But I'll do what I've got to do."
"That's the spirit," he said, "Don't worry. I can carry you if you get tired."
"Excuse you. I might dislike hikes, but I don't need anyone to carry me."
"Of course. It's nice to see that good old Claire is still there."
"The old Claire has always been here," she said, winking at him. "Just improved..."
And broken, too.
Claire followed Leon as he led her through the forest. She was not usually the kind to follow the lead quietly, but she did not feel the energy to act on her own now. There was some comfort in Leon's company that gave her a sense of reassurance. It was a similar feeling to what she felt when Chris was nearby.
The thought was naive and perhaps a little silly, but something about having them close always made Claire feel like nothing could ever harm her. Realistically speaking, it was nonsense, but psychologically, it was something different.
"Strange..."
Leon's whisper pulled Claire out of her thoughts. The woman looked at the agent, who was standing protectively by her side.
"I expected more hostiles, but we've barely encountered some Plagas infected. Don't you find it odd?"
Claire pondered the question. He had a point. Things were unusually calm compared to the hell she had faced the night before. It was almost as if daylight had brought them some peace.
"Well, it is a very different scenario from last night," Claire agreed, "Perhaps they are more active at night."
It was a wild guess, but it was the only excuse she could come up with to explain it.
"That's not a common trait when it comes to Plagas, but you might be right," Leon reasoned, "Well, then maybe we should restrict our moves to daytime. It might slow us down, but between speed and safety, I vouch for the latter. Especially if there's limited ammo in the equation."
Claire nodded. Moving in the daylight had its other benefits too. They had better visibility so they could avoid hostiles with more ease, and if the lack of the nasty monsters was a hint, then maybe they were indeed safer during the day.
"Yeah, that might be the best," she sighed.
"Don't worry. We'll make it out of this one."
"Yeah, I know," she nodded, "Leon..."
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
That caught Leon by surprise. The blonde turned to look at her quizzically, and she smiled at him weakly.
"What for?"
"Eh, well. I don't know. For being here now, I mean," Claire said shyly, "I suppose it was hard to reach me, and you didn't have to, yet...you are here."
Leon looked at her and smiled, shaking her head.
"Don't be silly," he said, "You don't need to thank me for that. If it hadn't been me, it would have been your brother, but neither of us would let them take you away so easily."
Claire smiled. He was right. Chris would never stand doing nothing while she was getting kidnapped.
"Yeah, you might be right."
Leon put his hand on her shoulder, and she found the touch comforting.
"I wanted to ask you," he said as they began to walk again, "Do you have any idea of what they would want to kidnap you?"
That was a good question. Claire wasn't sure herself.
"Your guess is as good as mine," she sighed. "I receive a lot of hate mail, so maybe it is someone who holds a grudge against me. I don't know. It could be someone targeting Chris, too. Both of us have rubbed some people the wrong way for a while."
Leon didn't reply. He walked lost in his thoughts, and for a moment, Claire wondered about what he was thinking.
That's none of your business, Claire.
Claire shook her head and kept on walking behind him, pushing the thoughts away.

Hi! I saw that you're requests are open so i decided to write mine lol. How about the reader being jealous of Ada Wong because she thinks Leon still has feelings for her? And then Leon confesses to the reader and reassures her he only sees Ada as a friend(at best). Just some angst and fluff basically. Thank you!
There it is. I hope I won’t disappoint. ;-) It’s angst. It’s fluff. You’ve been warned.
Blue Is His Favourite Colour - Leon S. Kennedy x Reader
Sitting there in your blue dress, you were staring at the woman in red in front of you, scrutinizing her with - what you hoped - was an expressionless look as she was calmly drinking a cup of coffee, her legs crossed like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct.   But the truth was, if looks could kill then the one you were giving right now would be the deadliest. You were not only looking daggers at her. No you were looking an entire arsenal right now (rocket launcher included), feeling an intense jealousy eating you up more and more with each second passing in her presence.     But that didn’t make Ada Wong drop her serene demeanour nor her over-confidence.
“That’s a good coffee.” You frowned at her sultry voice that was nothing else than her usual voice, you were sure of it. After all, that woman was oozing so much sexiness it was making you sick. “But I guess you didn’t pretend to be Leon to just chitchat with me around an espresso.”           “What’s going on between you and Leon?” She smiled and placed her cup on the coffee table before her, fixing her beautiful almond-shaped black eyes on you.     A scoff escaped her lips showing how amusing this situation was for her. But you wisely chose to ignore it. The woman in front of you was the kind that loved playing games. It didn’t take a genius to see it. It was part of her femme fatale persona. “You look way younger than I imagined. Guess that explains your insecurity.” You gritted your teeth at her commentary, probably because she was somewhat right. But the thing annoyed you the most was that she knew about you which meant Leon had talked to her about you. “And you look way older than what I imagined. Guess that explains the stripper dress.” You scornfully eyed at the short tight red dress she was wearing and that fitted her like a glove, not sure that this was appropriate for an afternoon coffee with a friend (which was the reason you had found to make her come here when you had texted her last week, pretending to be Leon). “That being said, you don’t answer my damn question.” “Ouch.” She grinned, not an ounce hurt by your words, before she eventually slouched a bit into the couch, knowing that you would not let her live your place without answers. You slightly glared. Even her lazy drooping posture was attractive. That was enraging. But despite your uncontrollable contempt for the woman, there was a part of you that couldn’t help but silently admit she was a very beautiful woman and that secretly wished you would look like that yourself. Even just a tiny bit. After all, you two couldn’t be more different.
Ada was the woman of all men’s dreams. Sexy, confident, mysterious. The type of girl that used to overshadow you in high school and definitely the type of woman that could outshine you even today. Who were you, wearing that baby blue dress, in front of that bombshell in a red dress? No wonder Leon had a thing for her. Cause he had, right?
“What do you want to know?” Ada asked. Finally, someone ready to talk and not treating you like a paranoid.             “The truth.” That was simple as that.       You were tired of Leon’s secrets. You were tired of him not telling you anything whatsoever about the mysterious Ada whose name was written on the silver compact powder you had accidently found in the drawer of his night stand one night when you were simply looking for a condom. But most of all, you were tired of fighting with him each time you were trying to put a conversation about her on the table.           “That might take a while. We have a lot of history. It goes back to Raccoon City.” You nodded, that sentence not coming as a surprise but tugging at your heartstrings nevertheless. Of course they had history. Had she been a one-night stand or just a simple ex-girlfriend, Leon would have never eluded all your questions about her. He would have talked about her as freely as he had talked about his previous girlfriends.     “But I strongly believe Leon would tell it better than I would. You should ask him.”
You were not stupid. You knew she wanted to hear you say it. You knew she wanted the ‘He doesn’t trust me and I don’t trust him’ speech, the crying and everything that went along with it and you were sure as hell not going to give her that satisfaction.           “Look, Y/N. You seem to be a sweet girl - a bit jealous and insecure sure, but sweet. I’m sure you’ll give Leon a flock of blue-eyed baby Kennedys playing in a garden with your golden retriever.”           “Seems like you played that scenario quite a few times in your head actually.” You spat. “I have yes. But I was never playing the role of the brood mare.” You fleered, not liking the comparison at all. But then again, Ada didn’t really exude mother material to you. “Let me guess. You were the homewrecker.”       Ada laughed, enjoying your sass a bit too much than she would have expected. “What I’m saying is that that scenario is what Leon secretly wishes. But that’s not what I wish. We’re different he and I and believe me when I say we both came to realise a long time ago that we would never work. I can’t give him what he wants. We can’t be endgame; despite the feelings we can have for each other … or had, since, judging by the feminine touch of this apartment, you must have definitely been living here for a while.”
Her long monologue barely comforted you. Actually your brain had stopped functioning at the ‘feelings we have for each other’ part. That bit had hurt like hell. Guess looking an entire arsenal at Ada Wong is useless when she has the right dagger to pierce your heart in her perfectly manicured hand.       “You’re wrong. He still has feelings for you. I can feel it in my bones.” You struggled to keep the nascent tears in your eyes, not wanting to look weak, or worse, childish.     “Y/N” Ada sighed and bent over to put a hand on your knee. Her voice was suddenly very compassionate. It surprised you. She was about to say something when the door of the apartment slammed open.
Leon barged in the living room, furious and - to your surprise - not even a bit astonished to see Ada sitting on the couch, meaning he knew that she would be here. “You can’t be serious!” He harrumphed, clearly mad at you and you couldn’t blame him. You had gone behind his back after all. “Alright. I believe it’s my cue. I’ll let you two discuss this among yourselves.” Ada stood up, took her coat and without saying another word headed towards the main door. “Thanks for calling, Ada.” Leon said as he glared at you. Of course she had told him. “Anytime.”
The door shut, leaving you and Leon in the heavy silence of your apartment. You didn’t dare to look at him, dreading to cross his eyes and most importantly fearing the inevitable argument. And right now, given the circumstances, you were certain that this one would make the walls tremble like never before. “Why would you do that, Y/N?” He sounded hurt. Was he trying to make you feel guilty? Because that was working but you didn’t need him to feel guilty right now. “Texting Ada, really? I thought you trusted me.” Those last words made you go through the roof.             “I thought you trusted me.” You repeated, probably louder than intended. “But at least you know how it feels now!”           “I know how what feels? My girlfriend spying on me?” He shouted, mimicking your tone. “That’s overstating things, don’t you think?” That was not the time for sass as Leon made it crystal just by the way he narrowed his eyes and slightly shook his head, showing how exasperated he was. “Then tell me what is it that you’ve done?”   “I went looking for the truth that you were refusing to give me. And guess what? That hurt like a bitch! Do you have any idea how I felt in front that woman?” He threw up his hands in annoyance. “You’re the one who invited her!”     “Yeah but it is your fault. I would have never asked her to come if you had been honest with me. At least, Ada told me what I wanted to know.”             “Oh, and what amazing thing did you learn?” He fixed his eyes on you with a ‘go on, give me your bullshit’ look that you found so irritable.         “Nothing very particular but the part about your ‘long history’ and your ‘feelings’ was more than enough to make me understand I was right all along and that YOU. WERE. LYING.” You pointed your finger at him to accentuate each word. But you weren’t done just yet. You needed to vent a little bit more. “She’s not ‘no one’ or ‘nothing that should concern me’! You have feelings for her.”         “ You got to be kidding me! How can you think that?”   “ Oh easy. A) we don’t keep a girl’s compact in a night stand if she means nothing.” Leon rolled his eyes, not believing you were mentioning that stupid compact again. “Here it goes again.”         “ And b) …” You weren’t even able to finish your sentence that Leon escaped the living room in the direction of your bedroom. He wasn’t leaving this fight? Right? Right?
“I’m not finished, Kennedy!” You yelled as you rushed to follow him. “Oh, but I am.” He growled as he opened the drawer of his nightstand. “I. am. fucking. done!” He said as he gritted his teeth, rummaging through the drawer. And suddenly he turned towards you and raised his hand. You covered your face by reflex and yelped when you saw Leon throw something with a brutality and a rage you had never thought he was capable of. Whatever is was, it smashed against the wall, far away from you with a loud clank. “There! Happy?” He asked with an angry voice before storming out of the room, slamming the door behind him so violently that you jumped.
You turned your head towards the object Leon had thrown against the wall to see what it was even if you had quite an idea. A tear rolled down your cheek when you saw the silver powder compact lying on the floor, completely shattered. You were not the kind of couple that would normally break things during quarrels.   You sat on the bed and took your face in your hands to cry your eyes out. This, all this Ada story had gone way too far. You had gone too far. You and your stupid jealousy. You and your insecurity.
You don’t know how long you sat there, thinking about all the things you had done and that had led your couple into this mess. But you knew that it was enough. You dried your tears and wiped the mascara that had run under your swollen reddened eyes before you eventually silently left the bedroom.     You found Leon sitting quietly in the living room, with a glass and a bottle of whisky in front of him that you stared at with guilt and sadness. Leon was only drinking when he was feeling terrible. And if he was drinking right now, then it was undeniably your fault. You went to sit by his side, putting your hand on the glass before Leon could take another mouthful of the amber-coloured liquor. “I’m sorry.” You said softly.         Leon put the drink back on the table and looked at you, his blue eyes mirroring the same sadness and pain that were in yours.     “ I just don’t get it, Y/N. Why this obsession with Ada?”           “ No, Leon. Please. I don’t wanna talk about her anymore.” You confessed, letting another tear run down your face. “Sweetheart, we have to. Cause this whole thing is killing us and I can’t bear that.” He cupped your face with his hand, wiping the tear with his calloused thumb, waiting for you to talk, to finally tell the truth.
“I’m afraid I’m not enough for you.” You admitted, glancing away from him. “ And when I found that stupid compact, I thought … I thought…” You didn’t know what you really thought. So many things actually. That Leon was having an affair or at least that he had feelings for another woman and that you were just a pastime, someone he would leave for her sooner or later.         “… that Ada still meant something for me.” He finished your sentence when he realised you wouldn’t. You met his eyes. If this was truth time then you needed to ask. “Does she?”   Leon sighed. But he was not annoyed at you this time. No he was annoyed at himself. “No. Not anymore. Look.” He took your hands in his. “I don’t know why I kept that silly compact. Truth is I didn’t even know it was still in my nightstand until you found it.” He had told you the same thing weeks ago. He had repeated it on and on actually but this time, contrary to the previous ones, you actually believed him. “She gave me that compact years ago, at a time when yeah, I had feelings for her. I’m not gonna lie. But here me out.” He cleared his throat to find the strength to talk to you and sat up straight on the couch.       “Ada was a part of me I will never be able to forget.” That sentence was painful. It made you sob but Leon continued. You needed to hear what he had to say. “I met her in Raccoon City. She saved my life back there and she kept on saving me many times ever since. But the thing with Ada was that my feelings for her were leading me nowhere. And whatever relationship we had, it was just some cat and mouse game meaning I was running after her and she was running away. And apart from some very occasional sex, nothing ever truly happened.” You grimaced. You could have lived without knowing that. “But I was okay with that … until I met you. And I realised that whatever I was feeling for Ada was nothing in comparison to what I was feeling for you. A love that consumes me, that gives me a purpose, that makes me keep fighting everyday and want come back home every night, that make want to make this fucked up a better place. I love you, Y/N. And I should have told you all this since the very beginning.” You sniffed, looking at the sincerity and the love in his gorgeous blue eyes. “ Why didn’t you?” You asked, genuinely curious.         “ Cause I’m stupid. Cause I thought that burying my past would be better for our couple.” That was indeed stupid. Had you known all this, it would have caused the both of you less pain “But I look nothing like Ada. How can you love me?” You asked.   “ You just said it. You’re nothing like her. You’re my everything.” He grabbed your chin and laid a soft kiss on your lips that made shed a tear because of the intense love you could feel in it. “And, didn’t I tell you that blue was my favourite colour?” He joked with a wink. Good, cause as you were gazing at his eyes, you couldn’t help but think blue was also your favourite colour.

Whether or not you consider Ada a main character or not has always been up for debate, and people have different opinions. I’ve seen different statements from various people such as: a main character needs to be the main playable character in a title, that the mains are only Chris, Jill, and Leon, and even claims that Chris Redfield is the one true actual main character since he’s been in the most things while Leon & Jill are just the poster boy and poster girl, etc. I don’t believe there’s any official list of who the “mains” are.
Even if you only see Ada as a side/supporting character, I don’t really get why that would make her “pointless”. It’s valid to recognize that Capcom has trouble with their execution, but that literally applies to all the other characters too as being undeveloped, not just Ada. People saying she should have stayed dead in the OG RE2, well she always throw you the rocket launcher at the end of your B route whether you’re playing Leon or Claire, so Capcom never intended for her to die. What you really mean is you wanted her to truly be the cliche plot device you claim that she is, where her death would only be a means to motivate the male hero. Other than video games, supporting characters in stories for all mediums are extremely important, both for character development & world building. What great story consists of only “main characters” ?? I don’t look at side characters and wait for them to “serve their immediate purpose” and expect them to just drop off, that, in my opinion, is one of the most contrived way of moving any story & character forward. The dynamic between Leon and Ada in RE2 wasn’t just to show us the effect she had on him, but the effect they both had on each other. They both entered and survived Raccoon City, coming out as as different people than when they started.
You know what, I’m glad Capcom doesn't just view her has an expendable supporting character just to develop their “mains”, and treats her as character in her own right. So often you have fans bring up how Capcom keeps introducing new people & end up doing nothing with them ever again like Billy, Carlos, Sheva, Helena etc. Now with Ethan being the playable main for two consecutive games in a row, I see people saying they should have used someone from their long roster instead to develop them more. If you see her existence as something ONLY to develop Leon or this overall “narrative”, that I don’t even think Capcom fully had planned out when Shinji Mikami left the company after RE4, then I guess you would deem her pointless in that game. However, she’s her own person that had her own mission and Leon just happened to be there too. Separate Ways is literally her perspective for her story, which DOES give us a lot more insight to her character from what we knew of her in RE2. Why would Capcom give a character a whole side game with multiple chapters, that takes hours to complete, allowing players to save their progress, if they didn’t think she was important?
If you find Ada and Leon’s relationship lacking in development in RE4, I, and I’m sure many others, would agree. Of course we all expected more from their interactions. But that’s not the fault of Ada’s character or Leon’s, it’s in the writing. At the end of RE2 Leon’s goal was to take down Umbrella.  Then at some point within those 6 years after, he somehow finds out the person he developed strong feelings for, who died right before him, is actually alive. Not just that, but she’s working with someone who is in part responsible for all the tragedy that happened. It make’s you wonder how he must have felt in that moment, he who contemplated suicide many times after that night in Raccoon City, when he sees her again for the first time. If they had been allowed to actually have a conversation during that confrontation then it easily would have added more to both their characters and further developed their relationship. But I guess it would just be better to write her out of the entire game since she’s pointless right?

Rookie Chapter 11 (Leon Kennedy X Reader
Words: 2916
A/N: Sorry it took so long! I’m gonna wrap this up in a chapter or two and then get working on Carlos Oliviera
Tumblr media
"She's not FBI, she's a mercenary." Annette said between breaths. She lay in front of you, holding onto her bloody side.
You knew it. All this time you knew she was hiding something and it felt so good being right. The way she acted didn't seem right for FBI agent (though you had never met one.) But she did have a surprising skill set, which is what made you trust her word in the first place. That skill set made even more sense for a mercenary, though, and a smile crept onto your lips. You looked over to Leon, who stood stiffly in place.
"And the G virus will go to the highest bidder, right?" you spoke, Annette nodded.
"That's bullshit!" Leon scoffed, though unconvincingly. He knew it was true, and you could tell. The poor boy couldn't get over his little crush, could he?
"Leon," you said "You know it's true." He didn't answer. "Who do you trust more? Me or Ada?" You began again, with no response. "If you trust me, we'll destroy the virus and Raccoon City will never happen again. But if you trust her, all you can do is hope you're right. You've got to pick."
He looked anywhere but your face.
"What's the FBI going to do with it anyway? We can end this right here."
For a moment, anger flashed on his face. Then shame, and then, nothing.
"Let me talk to Ada first, give her a chance to defend herself," he said.
You sighed, opening the door in front of you. Then the beeping started again.
"Self destruction protocol activated, use the central elevator to get to the bottom-level train platform."
Both you and Leon broke out into a sprint.
Down another hallway and into the main shaft, you and Leon almost forget what you were arguing about. That is, until she showed up. She stepped out from behind the elevator and unlocked it with her security wristband.
You stopped running at the sight of her, waiting for Leon's reaction. He slowed down into a walk, and you followed behind.
"Y'know I was just thinking about you," he began. What was he doing, you thought.
"That makes two of us" Ada began, looking up as the walls started shaking. "I was getting worried."
"You know we make a good team, but I gotta ask you something."
"Do you have the sample?" She asked, trying to rush this exchange.
"Oh he's got it alright," you said. She gave you a confused look, but it fell away once she held out her hand.
"Just give me the sample and we can get the hell out of here!"
"Before we do that... We ran into Annette." Leon said, his voice low. Recognition flashed across Ada's face: she knew what was about to be said. "She claims you're not FBI."
The walls around you were still shaking, a stark contrast to the collected demeanor of Ada, who was no longer in a rush to get out of here.
"Oh, Leon..." she turned her head, a fake chuckle escaping her lips. In one swift motion, she pulled out her gun and aimed it at him. "Why couldn't you have just handed over the sample?"
Within a second you and Leon had your guns out too.
"Because I realized, as much as I wanted to trust you, I couldn't."
"I really hoped it wouldn't end like this," Ada said, her finger hovering over the trigger.
"So that's all this was... I was just some pawn to you?" He said, biting his lip to stop its quiver. She looked at him, fighting back the guilt that was rising up. Not the he or you could tell. Her demeanor was a steel wall, you only saw what she wanted you to.
"Look, I'm just doing my job."
"And I'm doing mine, so drop that damn gun!" He yelled at her, taking a step forward. "I'm taking you in."
Ada wasn't focused on you. She was focused on only Leon and the sample. Your gun was pointed at her head, and you knew you could end this right here, right now. Your hands began to shake as you held the pistol, because much as you wanted to, you couldn't. You couldn't kill another living person, no matter the circumstances. But she couldn't know that, so you squeezed your gun to stop your hands from shaking.
"Hand over the sample, Leon." She said slow and firm, "I don't want to hurt you."
Half of the bridge fell behind you, making you and Leon stumble forward. Still, Leon trained just gun on Ada. The building was really falling apart now; none of you were gonna make it out if they continued their standoff.
"The building is about to collapse, Let's just get on the elevator!" You pleaded, but it fell on deaf ears. They stood a few more seconds, before Leon put down his gun.
"Then shoot me, but I don't think you can."
She kept her gun on him for a moment, before pointing it on you.
"Don't you dare!" Leon shouted. Ada just smiled. Your eyes met, and though she kept her devious smile, her eyes told a different story. Her facade was crumbling. She couldn't shoot you either.
"Hand me the sample," she said to Leon. He pulled the vial from his front shirt pocket.
"Don't give it to her," you said calmly. He looked back at you, into your eyes, and knew you had a plan. What scared him, though, was he had no idea what your plan was. Still, he had to trust you. This was bigger than the two of you; he couldn’t let the sample get into the wrong hands, so he dropped the vial back into his pocket.
"He's not going to give it to you, so why don't you shoot me?" You said, cocking a brow. Her head jerked from you to Leon.
"Don't test me Leon, give me the sample" she growled at him.
"He's not gonna do it. Now shoot me, I know you've wanted to all night.”
"Y/N what the hell are you doing?" Leon shouted. This was your plan? Of all things, this? Sure, his original plan was similar, but Ada really didn’t like you. Taunting her seemed like an easy way to get killed. But then he saw Ada's eyes, too. She couldn't shoot.
"Do it!” You yelled at her, sporting a grin of your own. She glared at you, her own lip starting to quiver, but she did nothing. "You can't can you?"
She dropped her gun, looking down in defeat. You had beaten her. You had broken down her facade, and she was weak without it. Guess she did have a soul...
A gunshot rang through the crumbling lab. But it was not from Ada's gun. Nor from yours or Leon's. You watched as blood trickled down from Ada's shoulder, too shocked to process what had just happened.
Leon looked back at Annette, who's bloody hands were wrapped around a pistol.
The rest of the bridge shook, Plummeting Ada off it's side, Before she fell, though, Leon dropped down to catch her arm with both of his hands. The virus dropped from his shirt pocket, but he didn't notice.
"I got you!" He strained
The building continued to quake, debris and dust falling from the ceiling.
"Leon..." Ada said.
"Hold on, I think I can—" Leon tried to lift Ada up, but the sudden motion made the rest of the bridge start to collapse. The metal platforms Leon had just crossed slid into abyss below. Leon lay on the last platform that looked like it could fall any minute.
"Leon!" You screamed. He was about to lose his life and all you could do was watch. You had ran towards the elevator as soon as the bridge started shaking, and at first you didn't even realize Ada had slipped. It wasn't until you looked behind you and saw Leon laying on the platform that you knew something was wrong, really wrong.
"Forget it." Ada said.
"Shut up— I've got you!" Leon hissed, straining his body to stay on the slipping platform.
"It's not worth it." Ada said. And for the first time that night, her words were genuine. Leon stared at her, until he felt her struggling to leave his grasp.
"Don't do this,"
Ada looked down at the abyss below, then back at Leon.
"Take care of yourself, Leon. And take care of her too.”
She slipped out of his grasp, and fell out of his sight as gracefully as she had first entered it.
Arms grasped around his waist, struggling to pull him up from the bridge. It was you. They say some people get superhuman strength in times of emergency, and that must have happened, because you pulled him to safety.
You stood up, and held out your hand for him to grab. After a moment of hesitation, he grabbed your hand and stood up. Your eyes met for a moment, and you saw the tears he wouldn't let fall. You squeezed his hand before leading him to the elevator.
The ride in the elevator was uncomfortably silent, and through the glass walls of the elevator you could see the lab going up in flames. There were explosions everywhere, smoke pouring out of every crack and crevice.
Things weren’t looking good; there was a big chance you wouldn’t make it. You didn’t want to think about what the odds were.
The elevator stopped and you arrived in what looked like a control room. Monitors of varying sizes covered the walls, and below them were panels with buttons and levers.
"Who's that? Leon said, pointing to one of the monitors. He stepped forward, looking around the control desk, and pressed a few random buttons.
"Hey, don't press those! You don't know what they'll do!" You scolded him. But then he pressed another, and the closest monitor flashed the face of the girl from the courtyard earlier.
"Claire!" Leon yelled into the speaker.
"Leon? You're down here too!" She replied.
"Look, the whole place is coming down. Listen to me, you need to get out. Fast!"
"Yeah, there's a way out!"She said. You held your breath. "Where are you now?"
The screen then filled with static.
"What the hell?" You said, frantically pushing buttons in the hopes the video would come back.
"I thought you said we shouldn't press buttons," Leon cocked a brow. You glared at him.
"Warning: Ten minutes until self destruction"
Fire. As you and Leon ran to find an exit, fire surrounded you. Explosions everywhere, the heat unbearable. And then, the tyrant.
"Why can't it just leave us alone!" Leon yelled, running in the other direction and through another fiery hall. His hand gripped yours, making sure that you wouldn't get separated. He couldn't lose you, he had just lost Ada.
An explosion filled your path with flames, and in that split second when neither you nor Leon moved forward, a large, gloves hand wrapped around your neck from behind and lifted you off of the ground. You struggled to breathe, and the little air you could catch was smoke.
"Don't touch her!" Leon screamed at the creature, who didn't even flinch. He tried shooting at it, but nothing happened. He tried all of his other weapons but to no avail. Finally resorted to punching it in its side. Maybe he'd hit a kidney (if it even had any) and it would let you down. He was getting desperate.
Just before you lost consciousness, there was another explosion. The force knocked you away from they tyrant, and onto the metal bar floor, which had broken from the explosion. Another burst sent you flying down to the floor below you.
Leon jumped down to your level, just before many more explosions separated you from the creature.
He pulled your head into his lap as you choked for air, the smoke only made it harder to catch your breath.
"Eight minutes remaining before self destruction" the intercom spoke again.
Suddenly, your lungs filled back up with air. You jumped up, a bit too quickly, and steadied yourself on the nearest wall.
"We gotta keep going," you said to Leon.
You and Leon had no idea where you were running or how the lab was even set up, but there was no time to waste. There was only time to act.
Leon pulled down the lever in front of him. The two of you were on a large platform used for transportation. It followed a set path down to the lowest level of the lab. Just as it started moving, there was another explosion. You turned, and within the dust and flame emerged a familiar figure. This time, it had lost its trench coat and it's blue arm was mutating. It jumped down onto the moving platform, flames still covering its body like it had just crawled out of hell. Then, it charged towards you and Leon.
"Divide and conquer!" You yelled at Leon. So you and him struggled to keep the beast at bay. Unfortunately, this one was a bit more intelligent than William, which meant it still hurt you and Leon quite a bit.
You and Leon were losing your stamina quick, for you had been running and fighting all night. The creature, on the other hand, just got more and more aggressive as time went by.
A weapons case fell onto the platform, and from the corner of your eye, you saw a flash of red. Could it be? No, there's no way.
The monster lunged at you, and you lunged to the floor, grabbing the rocket launcher from it case. It turned around, making eye contact with you, and with one pull of a trigger its upper body was nothing more than sludge on the ground.
The platform arrived at the bottom level of the facility, and you and Leon jumped off of it. You ran out of the nearest door, and noticed train tracks in front of you. A familiar whistle and the sound of thunder let you know you found your way out. Eyes wide, you looked back at Leon, who was just as relieved as you.
You were gonna make it.
Within a few seconds, the train appeared from out the tunnel, and you and Leon chased after it. Perfect timing too, because the structure was falling apart behind you. Leon lunged and grabbed a metal bar, pulling himself up in between the cars, then he turned to you, and reached for your hand. You ran as fast as you could, but you couldn't meet his hand. Finally, you jumped, and he caught your wrist, pulling you up next to him.
Both of you caught your breaths, for the first time all night you had felt peace. You looked over to Leon, who was fiddling with the ID wristband Ada gave him, and then you remembered. This journey was not without its losses. Even after all that happened, you couldn't hate her and you're not sure why.
"I'm sorry, I know you kinda had a thing for her," you said, trying to comfort him.
"A thing?" He weakly laughed. "No, no, I just really looked up to her is all. I thought she was this kick-ass FBI agent, and I just wanted to be like her, y’know? Like an idol, I guess. She kissed me, but I never kissed back.”
“Oh th-, Oh," you caught yourself before an ‘oh thank God’ came out of your mouth. Leon furrowed his eyebrows at you, but then turned back away.
The corners of your mouth lifted a little, you realized all of your jealousy, all of your anger was blown way out of proportion. She may have kissed him, but he didn't reciprocate. You were partially relieved, but that still doesn't mean he likes you. Sure, there was tension. Lots of it. But he may have something with Claire too... Wait, Claire?
"Where's Claire?" You asked. Leon's eyes widened, for he had just been talking to her a few minutes ago and had already forgotten about her.
"Who's running the train?" He asked. The two of you jumped up and busted open the door of the closest train car.
Upon entering, you were met with two faces. One of which was Claire, thank God. A little girl was by her side, too, with striking blonde hair and blue eyes. She reminded you a little bit of Annette, strange, you thought.
"Leon, Y/N!" Claire said, approaching the two of you. She stood there a moment, looking between you and Leon’s faces. Neither of you were looking too pretty right now, but hey, neither was she. "We made it," she finally said, "Just like I said we would."
"And who's this?" You asked, turning to the little girl. Claire wrapped her arm around the little girl's shoulder.
"This is Sherry."
"Hey Sherry," Leon waved to the girl. She smiled up at him.
The whole train shook, knocking you off of your feet and into the body next to you, Leon.
"What the hell was that?" He asked, steadying you. And just like that, your false sense of safety fell away. You didn't want to know what just happened, or what caused it, but looking at the faces of Claire and little sherry, you knew what you had to do.
"We should check it out.”

I saw your post and on the topic of Capcom retconning, I remember reading somewhere of them saying the remakes exist own timeline like an alternate universe sort of so everything that happened in the OG is canon still.
RE as always been stories of “what ifs” even in the OG, the routes like Jill/Chris in RE1 and Claire A/Leon B have no perfect flow, and Capcom would say technically the combination of all the routes are canon.
Remake Leon wasn’t late to work, but OG Leon was definitely still was via getting drunk over his breakup. I did initially think that retconning was what Capcom was trying to do but then Infinite Darkness came out and that Leon mentioned that he was late to work. Now I really do view them as totally separate versions/entities. So whatever Capcom does end up doing/changing in the remakes, everything that happens in OG timeline absolutely still exists.
I know some may feel the opposite, but I’ve accepted that Capcom actually could decide in their new remake timeline that something like Damnation never happened 😭 even if it would hurt my Aeon shipper heart, not saying that they would, but I’ve prepared for the worst since they gave Ada saving Leon from Krauser to Luis.
I just hope Capcom knows what they are doing and have a clear outlook for their characters this time
&I saw you mentioned how they shot RE2make and scrapped everything to reshoot again. I’ve always imagined that maybe they did try attempting the Leon B ending. I know before the Remake came out that that was the ending a lot we’re expecting to see since it was canon, which is why I think you see some that resentment or straight up hate from some fans on RE2R Ada now in conversations still. Those people that wanted to see the version of her that saved him almost at the cost of her life even when she had no idea he found out that she was lying & actually a spy (I wish people could just accept both versions of her, Remake Ada isn’t pretending to be a civilian looking for her boyfriend, she’s now an “FBI agent” that ranks higher than Leon a as cop, she wouldn’t act the same as the OG) Of course, id still love to see how Capcom would’ve reimagined the B scene but I think logically there was no way they could do it convincingly, especially with this Remake version of Leon. We saw no matter how hard Ada insisted he escape he never left, I think Remake Leon definitely wouldn’t have just left her body there especially if he wasn’t absolutely certain she was dead, so maybe they felt it was just better for them to have her fall thousands of feet and survive that way lol
yes i've seen this too. especially with two different canon endings in the same games. they're both supposed to be canon which is odd and sometimes conflicts with each other. yeah remake leon wasn't late to work, but infinite darkness leon was late to work. it does seem like everything is kinda still canon as none of them have been confirmed to be a main timeline or anything.
the only thing is that the films will not be remade. the films have and always been canon. and im still mad that they didn't make the efforts to have damnation be an aeon centric film like they initially were going to.
yeah i think the changes were good to luis but they were absolutely at the expense of ada. and that makes me kinda dislike him, but especially the people who have double standards and forgave luis when he arguably did so much worse things than ada did. i agree, even with re4r leon leaving luis' body was a bit strange but understandable i guess? but leon leaving ada in re2 made less sense.

[LET’S TALK RE2MAKE] Ada and Leon
Tumblr media
There is so much I want to talk about regarding this game, that I’ve decided to just divide it in different posts because, wow, there is A LOT to unpack here. It’s no surprise that I started playing Leon’s scenario, mainly because I wanted to see Ada in this new rendition (and also Leon and Ada/Leon, of course!). A heads-up: this is probably going to be very convoluted and not-at-all-organized, but I need to get it out and talk about these two.
I’ll admit my main fear was that Capcom could’ve butchered Ada’s characterization, but in the end I had nothing to worry about because we could argue this Ada is even better than in any previous appearances. Mainly because RE2make has probably the best writing/acting in the series (it’s still campy at times and that’s good as well! but you know what I mean). This also applies to her relationship with Leon, which also has been improved and now feels more grounded.
First things first, I love the original RE2 to pieces. It was my favourite game in the series, it was the first I played, Leon and Ada are literally the first ship that I ever shipped without knowing what that was. But when you look at it now, even if the writing is good  in certain scenes, it’s… well, it’s not RE forte. I mean, Ada goes from running away from Leon to sticking with him and then saying she cared about him all of a sudden. It’s not that you can’t believe it, but because the game is too short, she gets very intense very quickly. Again, we have to suspend our disbelief here a bit because this game was made back in 1998, and narrative in games was limited. For its time, it was kinda good—but some of those scenes would have looked a bit out of place under the tone RE2make has set. Like the “I’m just a woman who fell in love with you”. I mean, I love it in its original context, but it was cheesy af at its time and I don’t think they could have pulled it off here in a believable way.
(I also think Capcom wants to keep the romance tone very subtle, as they have always said they don’t “include” them in their RE games <s>except they kinda do but anyway</s> and that love confession was by far the most blatant romantic scene in a RE game).
But I digress, since this is about what RE2make does well in regards to Leon and Ada, and I’d say pretty much everything.
The first thing I noticed I quite liked about this Ada was the contrast between her demeanor and what she was doing: she acted cold and distant, but still kept saving Leon’s ass (and she does save him here a lot, more than in the original). This really resonates with their later interactions in other games, even though here she is colder than usual because, well, this is their first meeting so they still don’t have that history and shared background.
[And they keep pointing guns at each other (another great detail, since this is pretty much their dynamic when they meet).]
Tumblr media
Now, in the original we know Ada tried to leave Leon behind multiple times— she had a job to do, and having a rookie cop with her wouldn’t help. But she just kept running away without saying anything and since we don’t know her true intentions until the end, it may come across as a bit strange, given her supposed circumstances. In RE2make this is more nuanced, I think. You can see she’s trying to push him off constantly, telling him to leave as soon as he can and escape the city. Some people always bring up that Ada manipulates Leon into doing things so she can accomplish her mission— and that is true to an extent (let’s remember, again, that she also keeps saving him just as much before even accepting his help). But you can also see that wasn’t her first intention, she just wanted to get rid of him and continue her mission. However, Leon is very adamant about not leaving her behind and helping her, because he wants do something for the city and bring those responsible down (I love that he repeats it like two o three times, the “you’re stuck with me” line basically).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even in her attempts at getting rid of him, there’s a difference between their first interactions and the ones they share later, from the sewers on. When he finds her in the dumpster wounded, she stills tells him something like “get out of here”, even if she knows she needs his help now to survive.
Tumblr media
When finishing Ada’s segment, you can even see she’s scared at the end after the fall (and, indeed, where’s Leon when she needs him xD). But what Leon says here is one of my favourite things:
Tumblr media
Now this is not only about uncovering Umbrella’s plot and bringin them to justice for him: they are a team and they protect each other to survive the hell they have been thrown into (which is very reminiscent of their interactions in the original game aka “We’re a team. I can’t just leave you behind”, even Leon points at this with his “Y’know we make a good team”, which only makes it all sadder because yes, they do, but now the truth has come out and they are “enemies”).
So, yeah, what was Ada supposed to say here? She goes along with it, and yes, she tricks him into retrieving the G virus for her, but that’s to be expected because she’s just not going to drop her whole mission and leave everything she’s ever known “for a pair of pretty eyes”, as Luke Skywalker would say, when we can see she’s very reserved and hides her true feelings/intentions constantly.
Tumblr media
Yet she doesn’t want to hurt him (as she admits during their confrontation and this is genuine, no lies here), so that’s the best scenario in play: Leon gets the G virus, he gives it to her under the pretense of taking it back to the FBI, they escape, go their separate ways, she succeeds in her mission. End of story. Thankfully, Leon is not such a naïve ass in this game. Seriously, I replayed the original RE2 just before the remake’s launch and Leon is incredibly gullible to the point of no reason— though it’s endearing in its own way too. But I definitely appreciate more that this Leon still has a hopeful, positive vibe and he really wants to trust Ada, without coming off as an utter fool.
Then the confrontation comes (in a walkway with no railing, guys, haven’t you seen Star Wars??? THAT DOESN’T BODE WELL, NEVER) and it’s beautifully made. They could have gone the Leon B route with Ada dying in his arms, but the Leon A version was incredibly poignant— and it remains the same here, even more so because the acting was top notch for me here. (It’s true Ada “died” in Leon B to save him and that’s powerful as well, but… she has saved him so many times in the remake, it wouldn’t have felt that “special” I guess?). Even though Ada has been actively more deceitful in the remake (she takes advantage of the FBI lie much more than she did with the “worried girlfriend” thing), in the end she is not able to shoot Leon— and he knows she won’t.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The moment he says “but I don’t think you can” and lowers his weapon is SO GREAT and is a perfect summary of their whole dynamic: they are usually on opposing sides, yet he still trusts she will never harm him; because she can’t. They always walk a very thin line between friend and foe. We as the audience know Ada won’t shoot him, but it’s a such leap of faith for Leon here, at this moment— especially because now he is certain of what Ada is and what she is doing with the G virus. Rationally, there’d no reason for her not to shoot him and get the virus— but despite Ada’s lie, the connection they have developed is real. And Leon knows this, trusts his instincts and it pays off. It’s so much more fulfilling than the original scenes or even later ones.
Then we have Ada’s “death” and it’s heart-breaking. That “Shut up I’ve got you” from Leon KILLS me every time, and Ada’s “it’s not worth it” says so much about her, as I understand the implication is that she thinks saving her is not worth it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, this is something that was also present in the original, so I think they’ve managed to blend all versions of Ada quite well (she can be standoffish, independent and sassy, but also show warmth, sadness and compassion). Not only that, I found it quite endearing that she also comes off as very proud and hates feeling weak, rejecting Leon’s gestures of kindness when he finds her wounded in the sewers. There’s the “don’t push it, rookie” and she claims she would feel even worse if Leon carried her. I don’t think this was a trait we had witnessed before in Ada, even though you could assume she doesn’t like being thought of as weak. But it was really nice to see that on screen and it’s just another detail that helps to make her feel more human.
What about the kiss? I’ve seen some people having mixed feelings about it, but I actually liked what they did— again, because this time it all feels more grounded and less “melodramatic” (which isn’t bad per se, but the tone is different, as I’ve mentioned). We weren’t getting a love confession out of nowhere because it didn’t fit the character, so… how can we get a kiss in this situation? Well, now it’s part of Ada’s manipulation in a way— but that doesn’t invalidate that she’s starting to care about him in some way and viceverse.
Tumblr media
But they are still walking on thin ice: Leon wants to trust her, but he doesn’t know if he should, and she knows she’s lying to him. So she just shuts him up when he starts blabbering about keeping her safe. I don’t mind that it’s part of the manipulation because, once more, this is their first meeting and I also think part of her was also being genuine about it, like she thinks he’s very sweet for worrying so much about her. This is my interpretation, of course, but I think it fits the scene when she says “don’t worry about me” and claiming she’d like to see him again, that she has plenty to live for. This is of course all up to debate, because it’s made ambiguous on purpose, to make us feel as confused as Leon is. But, in the end, we know what happens in later games (even in this one, when she is unable to shoot him), and whether you like Ada or not, we can’t argue that she cares about him enough to put him before any mission.
Leon’s line in the train is also very telling and so much better than the original “Goodbye, Ada” or “I’ll always remember you”, in my opinion. He says “I can’t believe I actually miss her” and that rings so true, because, despite the deception, the connection they had was true, they worked well together, they teased each other, they bantered. They made a good team, and Leon made it out alive thanks to her as well. It reflects much better that duality they have, whether they can trust each other or not (as he says in RE6: it’s complicated).
Tumblr media
Just to end this, because I’ve been blabbering long enough, the other thing I’m forever grateful this remake has given us is Leon and Ada bantering and even their own sort of recurring catch phrase, with the whole “keeping scores” that comes full circle: first in a negative way, then it shows up again in a moment of tenderness between the two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s also such a nice way to tie all their history together, because that’s what they always do: they might be on opposing sides, but they always end up saving each other.

Note
about the fandom things, I want to ask from different fandom :) 1. Harry Potter fandom 2. RE: Aeon Cannot think for number 3, so I guess that's all. Thanks
Harry Potter (books, not the film adaptations since I stopped enjoying those after the third one):
– Favorite character: Luna Lovegood. I read Philosopher’s Stone when I was like… 9, I guess? And CoS, PoA, GoF, OotP immediately after as I devoured those books as soon as I finished PS. So, when HBP was launched in 2005, and then DH in 2007, I was already one of the anxious fans waiting for the saga’s conclusion. I never revisited it, though – but as a child (and later, pre-teen) I always felt some sort of peer pressure from the fandom to love Hermione the most – and ok, I do adore her –, but when I think back to what I thought and felt when I was reading the books, the character that always made me excited for her appearances, lines and overall participation was Luna;
– Least Favorite character: Draco Malfoy. God, his type of character just annoys the livin’ fuck out of me. The spoiled mean brat and dirty coward who can easily serve as an allegory for the I-have-a-problem-with-drugs rich teen. As one TV Tropes editor put it, “an unrepentant Upper-Class Twit Dirty Coward school bully”. Hahahaha, I just… despise this character;
– 5 Favorite Ships (canon or non-canon): Hinny, Romione, Snily, Ronks and Marthur;
– Character I find most attractive: Harry! I think book!Harry’s personality kinda shaped my interests in men? Hahaha I have a huge weakness for the “Socially Awkward”, “Brilliant, but Lazy”, “Heart of Gold” and “Hot-Blooded” type. Actually, my boyfriend is exactly this type of guy lol;
– Character I would marry: Ginny, probably? But like, she and Harry are my bisexual dream;
– Character I would be best friends with: Hermione and Luna since they remind me a bit of my real life best friends (Natane and Isabela);
– A random thought: Rowling could’ve been more creative with the next generation’s names? That “let’s name all of our children after dead relatives and lost beloved ones” trend that she influenced in fandom is… bad;
– An unpopular opinion: I wish J. K. Rowling could just shut up already and let this franchise have its deserved rest. Also: movies 4 to 7 are bad, but The Cursed Child and FBAWTFT are like AWFUL and I wish they never had the chance to exist in the first place;
– My canon OTP: Hinny;
– My non-canon OTP: Sirius Black & Happiness;
– Most Badass Character: I’d say Hermione since she’s the one responsible for coming up with the solutions for most of the narrative conflicts, but I honestly think it’s a tie between her and Ginny (both of them are truly awesome);
– Most Epic Villain: Bellatrix Lestrange. Name a more iconic and plainly HATEFUL female villain in this saga, I’ll wait;
– Pairing I am not a fan of: Harmony or anything with Draco;
– Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I don’t think Rowling did this to any of her main characters in the original saga? Maybe Lupin and Tonks deserved better, but oh well;
– Favourite Friendship: Fred and George Weasley;
– Character I most identify with: I don’t think there’s one in Harry Potter??
– Character I wish I could be: Nymphadora Tonks! I truly dug that Metamorphmagus shit.
Aeon
– When I started shipping them: In 2002, when I played RE2 for the first time in N64. I was eight years old, barely understood English, but something in the way Leon jumped in front of that bullet to save her just… struck me;
– My thoughts: I actually think A LOT about those two, so I have plenty to fill into that question, it’s better if you check my Aeon fandom tag to get a more comfortable and organized sneek peek in my thoughts for them.
– What makes me happy about them: The circularity in their relationship, their devotion towards one another (teaming up, saving each other’s asses), the fact that almost 15 years later they still CLEARLY love and pine for each other;
– What makes me sad about them: That they can’t be together in a conventional style? Like, settle down and stuff;
– Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Oh man, there surely is a lot. But most of those things are related to the distortions fandom is prone to make concerning Ada’s characterization. Like portraying her as if she’s some sort of psychopath or sociopath – incapable of empathy or completely lacking remorse, and that Leon just picked her interests for some alien kink reasoning??? Oftentimes Ada is perceived as a pure play of the Dragon Lady trope, not taking into consideration that her characterization throughout this franchise averted the stereotypes associated with that trope SEVERAL times – by the way, let’s be frank here, in most cases people don’t want Leon with Ada not because Leon and Claire would be healthier, but because Claire is white like him, so, automatically morally more worthy of him, and there you go, I spilt the tea. Ah, and that trend of infantilizing Leon, portraying him as some sort of pure-naïve-and-tame Manchild – god, this just kills me. This incapacity to understand that even though this character is good and nice and lovable, he’s also more complex than that and have agency in this fuckin’ narrative?
– Things I look for in fanfic: The author avoiding those things I hate that I just mentioned it’s good enough, but what really makes me go all !!!!! in fanfiction is when the author… detours? a bit of the usual “Leon and Ada can’t be together because of their jobs, circumstances, worldviews, blablabla” – like, I know that already man (and really I LOVE IT), but give me some fluffy and introspection now and then for a change, I don’t know. Show me their love only, without the drama, y'know? Some good examples of what I’m talking about are “sometimes i still feel the bruise” and “a fool for you”, both by by tenienteross (she’s great, go read everything she wrote for them ASAP);
– My wishlist: I don’t really have one because Capcom always delivers a very good job in portraying and further developing their relationship, hahahaha, I’m a very spoiled fan in that sense, BUT… I think one more on-screen kiss? Maybe?;
– Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: No one. And that goes for both. These two couldn’t get over each other for the past FIFTEEN YEARS or so and then suddenly Leon ends up married with kids with someone else? This sounds dumb and I hate it, so no thanks. If Capcom wanted to convince me that Leon could settle with someone else, they should’ve done this when Leon wasn’t getting to his early 40s.
– My happily ever after for them: A situation that mirrors RE2 in the sense that they have to survive a similar outbreak, one more nightmare, and they partner up for it – but now it’s so different from all those years ago, they’re much more comfortable around each other, their bantering and flirting sounds a lot more like that of a married couple, they’re older and more experienced and mature and in the end, when they’re about to have to choose each other again and then part ways because they know that’s what it has to happen (because they can and they do always choose one another, but staying together is more than what they bargained for), Leon asks for her to stay. Out loud. She replies to this by smiling lightly and saying that she thinks she’s done contributing to her job and think it’s time to be closed for business. We see Leon smiling, peacefully, as the scene fades to white.

The Games Resident Evil 4 Could Have Been
Stylish, Castle, Halluncination and Zombie. Resident Evil 4 went through many forms before becoming the game we know today.
Devil May Cry (2001)/Stylish
First conceived in 1998, the game that eventually became Devil May Cry was known as 'the stylish build' of Resident Evil 4. In fact, this game started its life so early that at one point it could've been the third Resident Evil game.
The plot would've been about the twin sons of Oswell Spencer, Tony (who became Dante when the game became DMC) and Vergil Redgrave. Both of them possessed superhuman abilities as a result of the G-virus.
Ultimately the game proved to be too different from Resident Evil, and became its own title.
Interestingly it's the only Resident Evil 4 scenario that doesn't have Leon as the lead character, unless you believe the rumours that Tony/Dante was going to be our favourite rookie.

Haunting Ground (2005)/Castle
Tumblr media
Haunting Ground is a cult survival horror created by Capcom and released in 2005. It's about a girl, Fiona Belli, trapped in a castle and involved in an alchemical plot. Her only ally is Hewie, a white shepard, and the two of them must work together to survive.
Originally it was the castle/mist/fog build of Resident Evil 4. The game would've been set somewhere in Europe, in a castle owned by Oswell Spencer. The castle was attacked by both U.S. STRATCOM forces and, in a stroke of bad luck for everyone involved, Wesker's own forces. Being Wesker's forces they've brought Umbrella created viruses with them. Because of course they have. Wesker can't make his breakfast without unleashing a new strain of the t-virus. Naturally this being a Resident Evil game there's one (1) survivor and that's Leon Scott Kennedy.
And also Leon's infected with the virus. Because if there's one constant in the Resident Evil games it's that the world hates Leon.
The game's plot dealt with Leon discovering the origin of the Progenitor virus. Also, there would have been a support character in the form of a young woman assisted by her B.O.W. dog. These characters later became Fiona and Hewie, and the main focus of the game.
And if the dog in the above gif looks familiar, he should. He's That Dog, aka: the dog that shows up to help Leon in the first el gigante fight. Which I guess confirms Haunting Ground and Resident Evil share a universe.
The Castle build eventually became the Hallucination build, which eventually became the Zombie build. From this, the game became Resident Evil 4 and the other three builds are known as Resident Evil 3.5.
Resident Evil: Dead Aim (2003)/Basically Just A Theory
I'm a little hesitant about including this, but hear me out.
So you have a blond  U.S. STRATCOM agent and Chinese spy of ambiguous morals. They fight Umbrella while having enough UST to sink the boat the game is set in.
I honestly have trouble in remembering their names, and just tend to call them Not!Leon and Not!Ada.
Around 2003 there was a version of Resident Evil 4 that featured zombies, and not much is know about the plot.  However, there's no proof that Dead Aim was originally intended to be Resident Evil 4, and this is simply conjecture based on something I read on a TV Tropes page.
Moving on from supposition and onto what is known...
Final Thoughts
In the different builds of Resident Evil 4, there's several constants. The protagonist was always Leon (or someone with just as nice hair), the setting was always Europe and the protagonist was always infected with some form of the Progenitor virus. The only version of the game not to feature Spencer in a major way is the final product. Which I think is a bit of shame, as it would've been nice to have more ties to the previous games.
And what's also a shame is how fantastic the Hallucination build of Resident Evil 4 looked. I know I love Resident Evil 4 but damn I wish that had been the final version of the game. Despite having the feel of a Silent Hill title, a lot of the Hallucination build actually made it over the final product. This included the suit of armour enemy, Leon fighting against the virus/parasite infecting him, the ability to use a sub weapon and QTEs.
