Sudden theory about re9!

This time I didn't expect to write this theory, because I saw this thing unexpectedly. And I'm still in a stupor.

Another theory about Wesker, but this time with a screenshot I haven't seen anywhere else... (wow wtf??)

Spread this photo around so more people know about it.

I found this image when I was replaying re8. There's a red line leading from him to Chris.

Initially I always thought it was Karl Heisenberg but then I got to thinking… why would he want his own pictures on his own information board? And they have completely different facial features.

I used free camera to examine this photo and was horrified to find that it was an exact replica of Wesker, only older and with long hair. I also noticed that his glasses are on a string or something. If you doubt that this is Wesker's face, just look closely at the shape of the nose, the distance between the nose and mouth, and then look at the shape of the face and chin. They're identical.

So, what are my conclusions? Let's run a logical chain to make it easier for us: Karl collected information on all the people who were in any way connected to Miranda. Chris is connected to her because he's been investigating a case involving Mold and Miranda since as early as 2017. And Wesker is connected because he worked for The Connections in the HCF division. It was The Connections that developed Eveline, and Miranda worked for them. It's unlikely that Wesker has anything directly to do with that. He's also connected to Chris, which is why their photos are connected by a red line.

Now let's discuss his face. This is obviously an aged version of Wesker's new appearance from re4r. In 2021, at the time of the re8 storyline, he is 61 years old. The photo is probably recent, judging by Chris' photo. Wesker has long hair here, which is interesting. Of the boring stuff, the glasses are a different shape. There are official hints in the Umbrella Corps game that Wesker is alive, it says so almost directly there. Read my theories if you're interested. Here. And here.

Given all the hints that Wesker is alive, can this photo be considered official confirmation? We'll see.

I really haven't seen anyone else write about it.

Making dumb guesses about Resident Evil 9 because we can!

Ok so, re9 is allegedly going to be the "most ambitious" re game yet, right? That means they're probably gonna do something weird with it, aren't they? Story wise or gameplay wise.

So... how about we play a dumb game where you guys reblog this post with outlandish story and gameplay ideas for funsies?

And I don't mean something like, "Rebecca comes back and Chris and Jill finally get together!" More like, "Rebecca comes back after having discovered a cure for evil and is now on a crusade to inject everyone with it and Chris and Jill discover they were business partners in a previous life because reincarnation is a thing." Stupid shit like that.

Got it? Ok, I'll start.

They introduce time travel/multiverse bullshit and there are now multiple copies of each character running around. All the Claires are getting along, the Leons are avoiding each other, and the Weskers are probably making out. Also, Wesker's back.

It'll also be played with motion controls.

If I could write RE9 it would be...

Had an idea for the plot of Resident Evil 9 while my dad was getting us a pizza 🤷🏽‍♀️

So we start in the time skip after 8 where Rose is working for the BSAA/Blue Umbrella (I forget who Chris works for) and she’s being sent to situations with outbreaks of molded creatures with great success. She’s quickly climbing the ranks and becoming very respected even though she kind of hates her job.

Eventually Rose realizes that she’s not going to places where there are outbreaks, outbreaks are happening because she is going places. Eventually she figures out that Ethan’s last thought before he died was how much he wished he could see his daughter again and when he “died” the mutamycete absorbed that wish and because of the strength of that wish, it became the mutamycete’s driving force. So the spark of consciousness that’s left of Ethan in the mutamycete is trying to communicate with Rose and in doing so following her around and inadvertently causing destruction. 

This leads Rose to abandon her organization, knowing that they wouldn’t care that the mutamycete contained the last bits of her father and would simply try to kill it. She is proven right as the BSAA sends bioweapons they’ve captured against her (it’s very hypocritical). 

Alone and afraid, Rose tries talking to experts and scientists of variable trustworthiness until finally she figures out how to freeze the mutamycete long enough to talk to her dad. Of course she has to do this on a time table because the mutamycete is getting better at latching onto her biological signature and each new place she visits it catches up faster until she has to confront it. 

But at this point Ethan’s impulse to see her is warring with the other impulses in the mutamycete and it no longer has a unity of purpose. Rose essentially has to fight her dad and the mutamycete. She wins by using the freezing method and in the process extracts both her father’s human body and his consciousness, but the science does not exist yet to combine them, only contain them. 

The game ends with Rose essentially putting both pieces of her dad into cryostorage and vowing to figure out a way to resurrect him. We also then see that someone Rose trusted along the way has betrayed her and people from both the BSAA and Umbrella are racing to try and steal the pieces of Ethan as the only human who has ever a) survived infection with his consciousness completely intact and b) reversed the infection so drastically that he became fully human again. <-sequel bait

spoilers for resident evil village, vendetta, and death island. this is however mostly just what i want to see for re9 which is probably coming out either next or after whatever remake is coming up

i hope leon isnt in RE9 as much as i love him because i have this feeling that hes gonna die

hes doing better. you can see in death island that he is doing so much betteem im unsure how theyd take this since death island takes place in 2015 and RE9 would probably end up taking place in the future (due to rose's age) but killing a character in the middle of their arc when they feel like theyre doing better is the OPTIMAL time to do so

im not 100% sure on the fact that capcom would kill their current moneymaker because even before RE4R came out everyone still loved leon but theyve still managed to release titles that have done well without him, anyway, like biohazard and village

i do however hope that jill is involved. she hasnt been in a game since re5 and she's an important part of chris' story. we know thanks to shadows of rose that mia mainly raised rose but we also know what chris was involved as well, and i just think it'd be cute if chris had no fucking clue what he's doing and jill was there to help him. death island makes it very clear that jill is still extremely traumatized, not only from the events from RE1 and RE3, but also from RE5 (mainly) and the events that happened in between.

theres so many things that they can do with her and since she hasnt been in a game for a while, it's total free real estate on what happened to her between the events of DI (or more importantly, RE5) and RE9. is jill still working with chris? what has she been doing ever since she (assuming she did, but she almost definitely did) left the BSAA? has she started her own independent thing similar to the hound wolf squad? or does she help chris with the hound wolf squad? it's not like jill to retire, especially since her role in death island is about her getting back into the field after RE5 and presumably a few years break after that.

i hope shes still lowkey mean too. like in the RE3R irritable way that she's just a little bit fed up because i want to see those resident evil fandom misogynists cry about it. its fine when leon's a total dick in vendetta bwcause hes traumatized but when a WOMAN is a dick to an organization that DESERVES IT because SHES traumatized, its suddenly a problem.

and i know leon isn't constantly a dick and he's not necessarily a violent drunk like chris is shown to be, im fully aware that leon has a good heart and isnt an asshole completely, but he was kind of a dick in vendetta. just a little bit. and people think its hot so my point stands.

About the re9 "leaks":

"A closing chapter for a few things" This doesn't mean anything. It's definitely not a closing chapter for Chris UNLESS the game takes place post-Shadows of rose. Which I doubt, because Chris would be over 60. This could be a closing chapter for Leon and Ada, but hopefully without Ada's death (Aeon haters can die mad). It could also be a closing chapter for Jill, who we haven't seen in any NEW (not remake) mainline content in a while. I don't see it as a closing chapter for Claire because honestly, Claire doesn't have anything to close. She has no overarching story, no unfinished business or loose ends. She just Shows Up sometimes. I'd like to see Mia and Chris being forced to work together to close the Mold chapter out, and perhaps explain why Mia doesn't have rose in the Village DLC. But I doubt it--when there's a vitriolic reaction to a female character, Capcom just plays into it and panders to it rather than trying to develop the character.

"Both a closing and a beginning" This, again, is too vague to actually mean anything. Hopefully it means that the OG 4 are done-done, and we'll be moving forward with new-ish characters, like the original intention of re6 (til it bombed). Sherry, Jake and Helena did nothing wrong. Bring them back, and Parker and Sheva. (Carlos ILY but you're too old bb, please be retired.)

"New story arcs to come after re9" Note that they said new arcs--this just means they won't be continuing the mold. It doesn't necessarily mean we're getting new characters or Chris is retired. I highly doubt they're giving up Chris. That man isn't getting a break ever.

"Takes the series to new directions" ...this also is too vague to mean anything other than "no more mold". There aren't many more directions to take the series other than psychological horror (since zombies, parasites, cocoons and now mold have been done). That would be the only direction they haven't tried, though they tested the waters in Village. I'd like to see it. This could also just be another vague way of saying "new story arcs".

Highest budget/longest development time/release in 2025 This is the only part that sounds like an actual leak. And it still doesn't mean anything. We've seen plenty of high budget AAA games still suck. It's likely going to be a beautiful game, we know Capcom can make great settings with amazing atmosphere.
