But you draw the line immediately when you notice him drooling a little bit and wake him up even though his soft snores were working like your own lofi music.

On self appointed snack duty when you're too overwhelmed by the intense studying or the long hours at the hospital.

Keeps you fed through your busy schedule.

His greeting to you is, "have you eaten?"

Never fails to tell you how amazed he is by your hard working nature and how much it makes him fall in love with you more, and more each passing day.

Does weird things to make you feel better when you're feeling down.

You've once made him wear a bubble pink tutu with a crown and do ballet.

You cherish that video more than your life.

⿻SOOBIN..

Never picks up his call the first time round.

And supposedly you're the busy one.

He might be a little affected when he can't see your face month after month because of your big examinations but instead tries to make lists of all the things you two can do together when you get time to hang out.

First date is staring at each other's face for three hours.

You bet he's gonna meet you at your last exam at the venue with a bouquet and a rented car to whisk you on a rendezvous.

But not too adventurous.

It's more like going to a new café that opened up with interesting menus.

⿻BEOMGYU..

Some days you loved him—when he would turn up outside the window of your library seat and throw it back while miming the words "i love you" and "you can do it." until he gets chased out by the guard.

And some days you sort of hated him—when he'd have thousands of questions

Doesn't really care about the time constrainments because if he misses you he'd turn up wherever you are and leave within five minutes after he had his fill of seeing your face.

By the third question he has confused himself with those terminologies and needs a break and confesses his newfangled respect for you.

But like in a dignified way.

Which means he'd wait for you after your classes and give your peers an intense sense of jealousy.

Lots of walking in silence in the park at night holding hands and resting your head on his shoulder.

The only one who follows through his promise to stay with you while studying.

Although sometimes you wish he'd like get bored and leave you alone

Only because he got an spartan style of studying and he ends up looking like an extension of your parents chiding you to study.

But instead of drawing cute things—you guys spend time drawing human anatomies.

At first you were irked out but grown to love this quirky little date idea he had come up with.

Isn't the best with verbalizing how much he is proud of you, instead comes to meet you with cut up fruits and little notes with 'you can do it' and littered with little hearts.

Once you start interning at the hospital, he'd try to make more time for you so you rest up because he can tell how daunting your life has become for you after seeing the patients suffering.

⿻HUENING KAI..

Number one support system 2.0.

But the cheerleader kind.

Sends videos of him doing cheerleading choreographies with pompoms to cheer you up but if any of them leaks

he'd disappear off the surface of earth without any words.

Gifted you a plushie with his picture embroidered on it doing his peace signs so you'd feel like he is always with you.

You cried a little but you will be the next one to disappear from earth without a trace if he found out.

Starts off his day by shooting you a text in the morning to help you prepare you for the day with positive vibes.

Like Soobin he has at least three templates of speeches in his head professing how he would support you no matter whichever direction you choose because he knows how hard is the profession you've decided.

But has a more guilty conscience tha Soobin so he at least memorized them off his head.

Always offers his special back rubs when the lover boy senses tingle and notify him of your exhaustion.

He's like, "hmm something tells me you're tired…"

As if cosplaying a panda is something you've done since forever.

Makes too many corny jokes like, "doctor something is wrong with my heart?"

But it's okay because he looks super adorable doing that dumb outdated shit.

Liked by everyone but me: DON'T COME FOR ME BUGGY NATION. I DON'T HATE HIM. I just don't get the hype. I think he's funny and I really liked him during Impel down but other than that, he's kinda just another character to me.

Didn't like at first: I honestly couldn't even tell you why 😭💀 She just made me mad especially during Loguetown. I like her now tho, especially Alabasta/Post-time-skip Tashigi (👍ㆁ⁠ω⁠ㆁ⁠)👍*⁠.⁠✧

Like the design, dislike the character: I didn't really dislike Ms. Valentine and Mr. 5, but I had to choose them because I don't think there really is a person who I dislike for both their character and their design.

Like the character, dislike the design: this is kinda the opposite of the last one. At face value I HATE Doflamingo, however I would fucking stupid to not be able to appreciate his character for that reason. He does such a good job at making me hate him that I kinda respect it 💀. Anyway tho whoever told him that loafers and skin-tight capris looked good together needs to be brought to justice. Cuz damn bro take that shit off PLEASE 😭

Fav ship: I don't really have one ngl, but if I had to choose...no one can deny that Frobin are the cutest fucking thing (⁠ᗒ⁠ᗩ⁠ᗕ⁠) I also don't technically ship Zosan either, but TRUST I see the vision (+ all the Zosan artists/writers out there are so damn talented that I can't help but appreciate/consume their works I'm gonna be honest lmao).

Would never befriend irl: I love Luffy to death, I swear I do, but that mf would annoy the ever-loving FUCK out of me irl. If I ever saw him in real life one of us would be dying immediately. I just think our personalities would clash so bad. In terms of morals, beliefs, outlooks on life, and opinions about dreams/passiona we'd get along great; otherwise, he is the most oblivious, impervious, blunt, obnoxious, loud, unhygienic, and extroverted person to exist, and I am the most sensitive, hypervigilant, quiet, timid, emotional, cautious, people-pleasing, and introverted person alive. He would get angry because he couldn't understand why I am so wary and anxious all the time, and I wouldn't understand why he isn't more careful or strategic and throws himself at death 24/7. That boy would be giving me panic/anxiety attacks left and right. Not to mention he would intimidate the fuck outta me, and I think that feeling is partially related to his conqueror's haki. Luffy's sheer confidence and trust in himself and his abilities, his drive and determination to chase his dreams, his fearlessness of life and death are all things I strive for and his does these things so effortlessly, that I think I would feel insecure and just-very small in comparison to him ngl

let's talk about keir's birth. i think it happens during a show at least somewhere in the uk, if not london itself, because there's no way ross (or any of the boys, or d word girlie coordinating things) would even chance him being in a different part of the world from you for at least a month and a half before your due date - which, by the way, is two weeks later than the date keir ended up arriving on. anyway, there's genuinely a show scheduled for that day, and you're chilling backstage at it, laughing at eilidh shoving hairclips into both her dad and matty's hair, when you start to feel a bit... odd. you go to the toilets, with d word girly (not dating matty at this point, btw) being like "hmmm you look a bit out of sorts. i'll come with you"; thank fuck she does, because pretty much as soon as the door to the girls' toilets closes behind you, your water breaks. you start to say "babe, please go and get ross", but she's one step ahead of you, bless her, like "i'll get him, i'll make sure matty's got eilidh, i'll make some calls", and then she hesitates like "are you sure you'll be ok on your own?" - you wave her off, and it's fine because ross is at your side in under a minute, checking to make sure you're alright and hugging you like "we're alright, everything's alright. just means we get to meet our boy sooner than we thought, yeah?", and you're genuinely quite calm. the same can't be said for the other room, where the tour promoter is genuinely trying to suggest that the gig tonight could still go ahead because "matty plays bass, right?" - matty literally puts his hands over eilidh's ears so she cant hear him say "i can, but also no fucking way am i missing this. this baby is basically another sibling for me. we're rescheduling the gig. end of", and then looks at girly to be like "is that going to be too much extra work for you, darling?", to which she's like "matty our friends are having a baby it's worth it" lol. it takes a while until your contractions are close enough that you can go to the hospital, but the couple of hours' wait is fairly pleasant; you're not in too much discomfort, and you're content to just sit with your husband and daughter (who is hyped about the happenings) and let everyone fuss over you. when it's almost time for keir to make his entrance, you kiss eilidh goodbye and tell her to be good for everyone while she waits for her baby brother, and she skips off with matty holding one hand and girly holding the other (hellish for them i fear) so everyone can congregate at adam's, before mark drops you and ross at the hospital. it's a quick labour, relatively straightforward, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like fuck; as you push, ross half-hugs you as best he can, kissing your forehead and reassuring you like "i know it hurts, my love, but you're almost there. a few more pushes, and we'll have our baby boy. doing so well, i love you so much". when keir starts to properly make his debut in the world, you clutch your husband's hand so tightly that it's probably agonising, but he doesn't mention it at all, just keeps cooing praises and brushing your hair from your face, while the midwives keep you updated on how, um, increasingly present keir is lmao. with a final push, he's here, tiny baby cries filling the air and mixing with sniffles from mum and dad - ross weeps when he gets to cut the umbilical cord, crying even harder when he watches you do skin to skin with your son and then when he gets to meet him for the first time himself. keir's a far less fussy baby than his sister was, so it isn't long before ross is sitting holding him against his chest while you sleep, just rubbing keir's tiny little back and feeling so overwhelmed that his boy is here and healthy and hopefully happy. yeah, it's all just so so soft and sweet <3

ANIMATION RAMBLINGS

I am so hyped for animation right now. Please let me share with you my excitement (as well as some links)!

FIRST: Super happy for the writer's guild on their win this month. I'm always happy to see the entertainment peeps standing up for themselves. This is a huge deal. There's been some talk of anime production workers possibly taking action as well, but there hasn't been any concrete news on that.

SECOND: What's come recently? Well, Fiona and Cake was great! I very nearly cried at several points lol, it was a very satisfying ending. And Worthikids (click to see their Youtube!) recently finished off their second season of Bigtop Burger: A funny little series of short videos about clowns making burgers in a food truck. It's wonderful and there's been a fair bit of lore that's been revealed from this season. Can't wait for what's to come in season 3 (which has pretty much been confirmed at this point)!

THIRD: What's to come? The new Scott Pilgrim anime series is coming soon! Just a little over a month until it premiers!! The little bit of teasers we've gotten so far make it look promising, and considering a lot of OGs from previous Scott Pilgrim media came back to work on it, I think it's safe to assume we'll enjoy what we see (despite Netflix being Netflix). There's also the Among Us series in development with the creator of Infinity Train Owen Dennis! It will probably be another year or so before we get more information on that, but it's a fun thing to look forward to.

What I'm really looking forward to are several independent projects coming up. More people are realizing that they can still tell the stories they want without corporate overlords breathing over their necks 24/7. Of course, this doesn't come without its hardships. Their main sources of income are coming mostly from crowdfunding and selling merch, and production may be slower (honestly for the best, stop the crunch culture). But to many of them, it's worth doing.

First off, Lackadaisy- What's that, you ask? It's about mobster cats in the Prohobition Era. It's got both whimsy and grit, both light humor and darker, more somber themes. And the art is so fun! It started off as a comic- check out their site! They released an animated pilot earlier this year! And just recently they got their project completely crowdfunded- several times more than what they were aiming for! The whole first season is funded and they're getting to work on production!

Then there's this fun guide series by one of my favorite stop motion animators Cranbersher! His work is amazing, he's done plenty of stuff for Youtubers including Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, and he even got to animate in Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio!!! He's been working on his series "Cranbersher's Guide to Stop Motion" for many years now, and he has been working diligently on the finale. Seriously, I recommend giving Cranbersher's Guide a watch. And do NOT skip any episodes! I promise you it's worth it, you'll learn a lot about animation. :)

Third, Jellybox Studio!! A new independent studio formed by Gene Goldstein, the mind behind Planet Panic and frontman for punk-rock band Qbomb! His animation is amazing, and with a whole team behind him, they're planning a 40-episode miniseries called NOXP! Gene has already released a few episodes on their socials.

And last, at least for now, there's Monkey Wrench by Zeurel! Essentially it's about two space bounty hunters trying to start fresh and not to get killed. It's definitely more on the mature side but the first episode is a pretty fun adventure on its own! (Its been a while since I've seen it, oof) The second episode came out several months ago and the series is also still in development, I'm excited to see what's in store!

Honestly there's a lot going on with animation lately. Times are changing, and I kind of hope we see more animators and crews turn to other options to bring their stories to people. Get excited!

Bonus: There have been a dozen reanimation projects over the last few years. They really popped off after the Game Grumps, Kirby, and Dover Boys projects got more attention. One of them, Gravity Falls Reanimated (which seeks to reanimate the first episode of Gravity Falls with contributions from dozens of different animators) is nearly complete after several years! The final product will be released under Alchemy Paint Studios. It's been a long time coming, but it's almost here!

Hi! I'm literally so in love with final girl It's not funny I adored the new chapter and literally can't wait for the next one (but obviously take your time. no pressure at all I just wanted to let you know how much I loved it:)

Anyhow I'm not sure if this is how you send in request but the end of the recent chapter when they were talking about Stu and the reader alone really got me thinking that we don't see them interact like that, yk? Like we see Billy and the reader and we see the way billy thinks of the reader but we never really see Stu and the readers interactions like one on one often if that makes sense? I was thinking about what Billy said with Stu peeling the readers oranges or waiting for them by they're locker everyday and holding their books and walking them to class or just them talking in class like when they first met and I've been LITERALLY CLAWING AT MY THROAT FOAMING AT THE MOUTH FOR THESES TWO and I would love it if you could do something with that if you have the time, ofcourse. I'm sorry if this isn't really a request I just wanted to let you know that I love your story, I love the way you write Billy and Stu and can't wait for the next chapter with theses two, bye!

anon i love you this is such an incredibly sweet message :) it literally got me so hyped to write lol 

i have such complex thoughts about the stu and y/n dynamic bc stu has so many layers to him and relationships 

so here’s a bit of analysis on the dynamic between stu & y/n (feel free to skip past it and go to the fic, i just wanted to explain it a little lol): 

Okay first thing’s first about stu’s personality, i am a firm believer that he believes all attention is good attention. Especially if he likes someone. If you’re in a group setting, he’ll make a joke that he knows will specifically bother you. Not necessarily a mean one--though it could be--it could just be something that makes the reader uncomfortable or grosses them out, bc that means that he’ll be the center of your attention, and that’s enough.  

Also, side note, i can def see him creating situations in order to spend time with reader without having to ask. Like checking out a movie that Y/n wants to see repeatedly for weeks and then finally telling her about it and acting like he just picked it up. Or dropping hints that he “needs help” on a certain subject before finally asking for you to come over to study. Or invite multiple people to do something when he knows they’re busy and you’re not. 

This may be an unpopular sort of take but i believe that he’s capable of love, just a different kind of love. It’s not always the most unhealthy thing constantly, but it toes the line often bc he projects so many ideals onto it. He projects that domestic, ‘happy’ home life he’s never really had onto his feelings for Y/n, and he does so more than on anything he feels for Billy bc, honestly, of sexist ideals, and the more he likes y/n, the worse it gets bc he starts to sort of expect things. He has a sort of distorted perception of things, he takes your actions and makes them sort of fit into what he wants them to mean. He’s not totally straight up delusional, he picks up on what you’re actually feeling, he just doesn’t always care. 

On the bright side of things, stu’s never felt this strongly over a girl before, and with that comes some stuff. It’s different than tatum and even casey. It’s partially bc billy’s involved too and partly for a reason he doesn’t get. The point is, he notices things about the reader and remembers them and that’s weird to him. It’s a lot. 

He doesn’t know what to do with it, and it’s not like he can pursue the reader in any capacity outside of friendship, so it sort of builds up. It’s sort of like leaving him alone with a puppy, something cute that he just wants to squeeze. It’s dicey. 

But on a more positive side, he’s accidentally sort of super endearing from time to time. There’s a bit of a masculinity issue, like the need to be ‘the strong one, the provider’ and the underlying desire to make reader dependent on him, but it’s also just bc he can’t help it. He’d never acknowledge that, though, if billy asks, he swears it’s a manipulative ploy. He might admit it a little if billy--and only billy--pushed significantly, but deep down there’s a bit of a lovey undertone. 

Anyways actual fic/blurb that shows stu’s POV and some of his thoughts on y/n below the cut: 

You came. You didn’t ask any questions even though you could tell that Stu’s reason for inviting you over was about more than finally getting a copy of that movie you kept talking about wanting to see. More of a psychological thriller than true horror. You’ve always seemed a little more into that type of scary, which makes sense considering how you reacted to those pictures of Casey.

It’s not Stu’s favorite kind of movie, but you make it more entertaining during the talk heavy scenes where the characters focus too hard on things that real killers don’t really need. Motives. You say it’s all about the writing, but there’s something about the way you watch, all focused and slightly serious. There’s a touch of something there. A hint at a darkness that may or may not be rooted in some sense of justice. 

It doesn’t exactly make up entirely for what the movie lacks, but sometimes the excuse to watch you makes up for it. Especially today. 

You had sensed that something was off, because of course you did. You’re getting a little good at being able to read him. You had asked if he was okay over the phone. Some hard to label feeling swelled in his chest and so he pushed against it. 

He already didn’t get why he was feeling so tense. So his parents decided to put off their return home because Leslie wanted to go somewhere. So Billy couldn’t come over because he had to do something with Sid and then spend time with his dad. What did that matter? He hates when his parents are here more often than he finds it bearable and Billy would make it up to him enough later. There’s enough of a silent understanding between them that Stu’s not feeling threatened, just irritated by the situation.

And then he called you. A tiny bit risky, especially considering that Stu didn’t feel like he’d take any form of rejection well. But you didn’t. You came and you asked him about how he was feeling and even though Stu had a feeling you were still skeptical after he said he was fine, you dropped it. You just pulled him into that bubble of yours, where things feel...god, he doesn’t even have a word for it. 

“I know how you feel about motives, but I think I like them.” Your opinion comes out nearly hesitant as you adjust yourself on his couch. 

Your knees just barely touch. Stu shifts with you, making the contact a little more sure. There’s a second in which your hesitance lingers, but you follow his lead--like usual--and relax. The warmth of your skin bleeds through the soft fabric of your leggings. It’s vaguely assuring, something Stu has to remind himself not to try to lean into too much. 

“You would.” He forces it to come out with a little more insult than he means it. 

You blink, tearing your eyes away from the screen and towards Stu. There’s something about the way you’re looking at him. It feeds a part of him that’s never ending. “What’s that supposed to mean?” 

He smiles because you’re looking at him like that, so how could he not? “Motives make things neat for you. You like to justify things.” Stu’s gaze flits from your eyes and back to the screen. This part of Stu’s theory is a little more optimistic, enough of a stretch that he knows your reaction to it matters. “You want to sympathize with the killer, ‘cause that’s what you do.” 

Your lips press together slightly, not too telling. “I’m not that nice.” 

“You always forgive.” Stu moves his hand, pinching your cheek too quickly for you to protest. “Or maybe I’m just that irresistible.” 

Half scoffing, you turn your head entirely. Your partial laugh ends, falling flat when you notice Stu’s oddly neutral expression. It’s too contemplative, too thoughtful. That paired with his odd stillness has been a sign that something’s up. You asked about it, showed the right kind of interest, but you didn’t push. When you’re moody, Stu focuses more on cheering you up than finding out what’s wrong. That comes second. 

You wish there was a normal way to ask someone what they’re thinking. But there isn’t, which means you have to guess, “I’m not that forgiving.” Your words are slower than you mean them to be. It adds to the serious feel and that’s not the goal. You’re justing trying to give your mouth a chance to catch up with your thoughts. “Or nice, you just bring it out in me.” 

That...that’s surprising. Stu bites his tongue to keep from grinning too much. You’re not as predictable as everyone else. Not as boring or tiring. He could figure you out again and again and still not feel that same sort of general apathy he feels for most everyone. 

“Aw, aren’t you sweet.” You roll your eyes as Stu pulls an arm around your shoulder. He yanks you into his side too suddenly for it not be awkward and his grip is a little too secure for you to get comfortable right away, but the way his thumb brushes up and down your arm tells you that it’s meant to be nice. “If I bring out your ‘nice’,  angel, I don’t want to know who brings out your ‘mean’.” 

You sigh once, embracing Stu’s touchiness by relaxing into his hold. “Okay, don’t get an ego, it’s not you, it’s just--” Stu keeps himself quiet. You say the best things when you’re left to your own devices. “Well it is you--well, more the way you make me feel.” 

His fingers press into your arm a little more. That was worth holding out for. “Your feelings for me?”

Snapping your head in his direction, your mouth opens before you can think of your response. Stu turned your words in on themselves a little, but it still hit too close for you to dismiss it the way you normally would. “Shut up.” It’s too indignant, a laugh escapes Stu and you elbow his rib. “I was just trying to say that the reason I don’t stay mad that long is because I realize that you make me happier more than you make me not, I guess.” Feeling awkward, you practically squirm in his hold, eyes dropping to your lap. “That was super lame. Forget I said that.” 

Stu bends his arm, placing his hand firmly on your cheek in order to hold your head in place. He kisses your temple hard, an exaggerated kiss sound following the gesture. You half-laugh-half shriek, trying to push your way out of his grasp. “No way,” he laughs, moving his other arm to try to get you to still, “You like me.”

More kisses to your forehead and cheek and hairline. Anything he can touch as you squirm and giggle. Maybe you’re accepting his over enthusiasm and touchiness a little more today, but he’s starting to seem a little more like his usual self. 

“Not anymore,” it’s said with a smile. 

Stu’s mouth falls open in dramatic shock. His head falls onto your shoulder as he lets out a mocking gasp. He pushes his face against your collar, turning his cheek to press himself into your neck. You laugh again, the sound light and a little fluttery. Stu vaguely notes the nervous undertones as he takes a deep breath that he disguises as a dramatic sigh. You’re warm and smell like comfort. Despite the casualness of it, you nearly shiver.

Another monologue explaining the reason behind a murder that took too long to plan for minimal pay off. It’s anticlimactic in a way that makes Stu antsy. 

“So why do you like motives?” It’s a simple enough question. 

You’re quiet for a second, sinking further into the couch as you think through your options. “Not sure, something about a sense of justice, getting even and having it pay off.” You stay silent, intently watching the screen, “Plus I can appreciate a well written plan.” 

Stu smiles, thinking about the way Billy would enjoy the irony. “You secretly an evil mastermind? Waiting for the right moment to take advantage of me?” 

He can feel the way your head turns at the way he makes his voice waver in a caricature of fear. “Yep, just biding time, waiting to have you at my mercy.” 

"And what would that look like?” Stu lifts his head just enough to watch your reaction. Your eyes won’t meet his, but he can feel the wideness of your gaze.

You almost smile, softly shoving Stu’s side. “Shut up.” 

“You know, we’re all alone right now, so if you want to--” 

“Stu.” 

He decides to take your scolding, mumbling a quick, “Just saying,” before dropping the subject and letting you watch the movie.

It is legit. And he isn't wrong. However, Sakura is not really the heroine in this story, Sasuke is. One of the anime's directors also said this btw, lol. It's very hard to not see it. But Kishi obviously cannot say that in his interviews. He can't openly talk about the gay love story that he wrote in shounen. Sakura is a girl in the same age bracket and in the same team and she is used as a plot device to develop Sasuke and Naruto's dynamic. So she is given the epithet of heroine when the truth is that Sasuke gets all the tropes and visual imagery that a heroine gets in a love story. Naruto and Shippuden are love stories. And that's just a fact.

Kishimoto also said that he wrote team seven as a love triangle. SS think that Sakura is the centre of this love triangle when the very evident truth is that it's actually Sasuke. Lol. But they just conveniently skip anything that does not act in their favor, they are cute like that. They twist everything in the manga to suit their insane theories and when that doesn't work, they use novels.

Anyway, the excerpt of the interview you shared doesn't really speak in favor of SS. All Kishi is saying is that he felt embarrassed writing that scene. Honestly, Sakura WAS very cringe in that scene. She is obviously a fangirl, always was. She rebukes Sasuke because he doesn't share a single word with her, doesn't tell her anything. I find it very funny when people hype up team seven dynamic when one of the members doesn't even willingly talk with the other but is always ears for the third one ie Naruto. I don't know what makes SS feel so proud because the truth is Sasuke doesn't show a willingness to talk to Sakura at all. It's Always Sakura who tries to get his attention or get in close physical proximity with him.

Regardless, at first Sakura does seem like she is handling it maturely, without trying to manipulate him.

She is right when she says revenge in itself won't bring Sasuke happiness. Sasuke also understands this, and it thaws him a little towards Sakura. Which is why he relents and explains in more words than he has ever said to her, that his goals are central to his existence and he must do everything to make them materialize.

Kishimoto deliberately makes it cringe after this though. Sakura keeps talking about Sasuke as if they were a couple. Sakura says - "Revenge won't bring anyone happiness, neither you Sasuke, nor me."

Lol. How exactly does she figure what she feels is important to Sasuke when he doesn't even talk with her? Lol. Why and where does she think she fits in this whole equation? Sasuke is right, him wanting to avenge his clan has nothing to do with Sakura. Or Naruto. Or Kakashi. So why does she think it would matter to Sasuke how she feels about it? And so he tries to explain it to her because he is a kind boy and doesn't deliberately want to hurt her feelings for no reason.

But she really makes it worse after this, by making it all about herself.

She compares her loneliness, she who has parents, friends, and teachers to care for her, with Sasuke's loneliness. Who has no family. And none of the people in Konoha understand what he has been through, no one was there to care for him when he went through hell, all alone as an eight year old. Being with Naruto starts to heal him, like Oro notices very keenly, but then Itachi's visit happens and everything is unraveled.

She compares her apples with his oranges. Seriously, she has no sense of proportion, does she? What an insensitive thing to say to an orphan. And then, when Sasuke is not affected at all, she confesses to him. So. Much. Cringe. First time I saw this scene, I was like, haven't you embarrassed yourself enough? I was just trying to reconcile to the fact that you mocked Naruto for his orphan status, and then you say this to Sasuke?

I am sure everyone here knows people like her who make everything about themselves. It's quite exhausting to talk to them. But Sakura reminds me of this character, hardship one upper. Lol.

Kishi is such a sensitive writer when it comes to writing emotions, he writes the emotional scenes, especially with Sasuke, with such nuance and delicacy. And then here's Sakura, just crowding up the station with her freight train like confession that morphs from caring about Sasuke's feelings to caring about her own.

It started with - Sasuke you won't be happy even if you got revenge.

To - I won't be either.

To - I won't be happy if you left because I would be as lonely as YOU if you did. (And no, it's not the same as when Naruto tries to stop him from leaving, because for one thing, their love is mutual.)

To - Because I love you. So stay in the village for MY sake.

To - Or take ME with you.

Which is really sad. Because the reason why Sasuke mocked Sakura and called her annoying in chapter three in the first place was because she compared her predicament with Naruto's. She really has no sense of proportion, does she? What does she even know how it feels to be in Naruto's or Sasuke's shoes?

Which is exactly why Sasuke mocks her back. Which she remembers and even reminds Sasuke about it.

This is so ironic. It's her core memory about Sasuke and yet she really learnt nothing from it. Nothing. Sasuke schools her about the difference between her predicament and Naruto's back then.

And he schools her even in this scene.

Sasuke realizes that Sakura has not changed at all. She does the same thing here that she does in chapter three. She fails at understanding both Naruto's and Sasuke's feelings. And makes it about herself both times. Well, she is consistently portrayed as a self absorbed, narcissistic and entitled girl, who must acquire whatever she wants, even Sasuke, who doesn't want her back. Because blimp sized ego. She was trying to manipulate Sasuke so he would stay, for Her sake. She constantly overestimates her importance to both Naruto and Sasuke and fails every single time. Lol. Like when she fake confessed to Naruto thinking Naruto would jump at the chance to get it on with her and quit Sasuke and then she gets rejected lol after which Naruto confesses to Sasuke on the bridge and pledges to die with him. She again attempts to confess to Sasuke at the end of war arc and she again makes it all about herself. Because Sasuke's wish to get justice and reform the world is equal to her wish to have him stay with her because she can't help loving him. Lol. She is such an embarrassment man.

Finally Sasuke has had enough, this was a very satisfying panel btw. Idc if people take offense. But it's not a coincidence that every single time Sasuke gets triggered and calls Sakura annoying, it's always in response to her saying something very selfish, insensitive and disproportionate.

SS can give however many ridiculous (non) reasons, painfully twisted beyond recognition, but lol, they are just trying to cope.

Sasuke is a very perceptive person, deeply attuned to how different people think. He knows Sakura's true nature. He knows how shallow and self centred she is and that her treatment of people is full of artifice. That is why Naruto stands apart and one of the major reasons Sasuke likes Naruto is because there's no artifice in him. What you see is what you get, warts and all, his closetedness is also a part of his personality. Naruto is honest, raw, unrefined and gritty. He doesn't mix words, he is not really very skillful with them. And he doesn't care. Because what matters to him is his emotions, he wears his heart on his sleeve proudly, and Sasuke is in awe of his emotional generosity, just as Naruto is in awe of his intensity and resolve.

Coming back to the interview, Kishi is talking about how fans could perceive it (and SS have) as if they were lovers because Sakura gets so weepy and mawkish, announcing her confession in such a cloying manner. And this scene uses the common trope of the aspirational male character leaving the village to accomplish something and the heroine trying to stop him from leaving, punctuated by heavy emotional beats. But that's just the surface level reading of this scene isn't it? Kishi loves his parallels and his foreshadowing. He is very careful about the way he develops his characters and he won't write them to deviate from their characterization without a reason. Sakura has given Sasuke no reason to actually like her, in fact, she only underscores her inherently shallow and self absorbed personality with everything she says, which has undergone no change whatsoever till date.

Kishi painstakingly keeps her character consistently unchanged even in Boruto. She is the same manipulative, emotionally violent, self centred and egotistical person in Boruto, Gaiden at least, who treats her own daughter so badly when she asks Sakura uncomfortable questions about Sasuke.

Anyway, concluding this winding answer, this scene is quite cringey and Kishi is right in saying that it was embarrassing, because Sakura makes it so. Every. Single. Time.

It's so funny to me that fans simply ignore the fact that the emotional core of this story is based on the concept of truly understanding each other and empathizing. Sasuke doesn't give up till the end and only relents after Naruto lets him know of his feelings that finally resonates with Sasuke. Which finally makes him realize that he is not alone, and it makes him cross over to Naruto's side. Naruto makes a fine profession out of it for heaven's sake, his talk no jutsu being the tool of his trade.

Sakura never understood Sasuke. She never even attempted, she always kept on about her own needs regardless of how Sasuke felt about her or even generally. No one understood him, not Sakura, not Itachi, not Kakashi, no one. Until Naruto. That's why the story ended with their reconciliation. And not the war arc. Because the story is about them.

i also LOVED him talking about hyping tee up and hyping tee up to joe. the tee/ja’marr friendship is one of my favorite things right now and it will be heartbreaking if we can’t keep both of them (i know it’s very unlikely but!! they’re buddies!! can't they just tell roger goodell that everyone on this team is bffs so can we just skip the salary cap thing this time??? please??)

Oh my god, Friendcation is a masterpiece! The way you wrote it was freaking excellent!

I never knew until now that you also write, but when I saw Friendcation on my FYP, I realized I should have known earlier because your works are fantastic! Although Friendcation is the only fic I've read from your works, I am certain that every fic you've made is a masterpiece, and I can't wait to read all of them!

I am still reading Friendcation and recently finished Chapter 2, and I can't wait to read more of it! I really love the concept; every scene is just a chef's kiss! Honestly, Yoongi is perfect for the male lead, and I can picture it in my head so well! You did a great job portraying Yoongi, MC, and the whole gang in the story. I am really a fan of the friends to lovers concept! I can't wait to read more!

One thing that I will commend you for is how you constructed the whole thing so perfectly! As a reader, I am a fan of "show don't tell" because it adds more thrill to imagining things, and you are by far the perfect writer who has the best "show don't tell," I fucking swear to god! Just by reading the first paragraph of Friendcation, my jaw dropped, literally! Everything is perfectly written! Dies scarnoa get to the academy before or after the team star incident?

After the Team Star incident, but before a certain someone returns from Galar.

She effectively popped up smack dab before the Player Character and their Mom moved to Paldea. She's got some time to recover, but once she's ready, it's class time for her, and like, Nemona is constantly told to like hold back on her as a result since she always comes off so strongly.

But also, Scarnoa is all "sure." and has to be KEPT from enabling some of Nemona's habits of asking for constant battles.

Scarnoa's Quaxly is tired of looking at Nemona's Pawmi and Crocalor, it just wants to eat and sleep now

side note, I think it's FUNNY, that Team Star goes around recruiting people, like before we find out the truth, it's like "geez, bunch of delinquents"

and then after, it's all "oh. You guys were looking for the people who were more likely to get bullied"

which makes it funny that Penny got asked to join, like "TARGET SPOTTED"

like Penny I am so sorry, but you got assigned bullied nerd on sight.

Also, fun little tidbit I came across while watching other people play the game - not everyone outside of the Academy knows about Team Star.

Because there was this NPC saying that her son told her he joined Team Star, and she was like...she doesn't know what kind of sports team it is, but she's sure it's very fun, like she's happy for her son.

After all, for some of it, it's like this school club of sorts where they just skip school. But more than that, they do hype each other up AND STAY UP ALL NIGHT PLAYING VIDEO GAMES WITH EACH OTHER.

it really does seem that only the school is aware of it, and everyone in it. Likely, because instead of telling parents about it, Clavell is keeping it on the down low to keep these kids from getting into trouble (he can't predict all of their living situations, it's best to play it safe), hence the threat of expulsion, because you can't hide that from the parents. So that really IS the last straw.

Also, we see new recruits, and like, it's so funny??? They have new recruit tasks like watching the gate, and sometimes, if their personality is too down, you got, "I'll try to talk to her about it."

They're just rowdy kids playing hooky, but who hasn't played hooky after earning their freedom from the mandatory tutorial level???

i have not touched school grounds in my second playthrough, and the one time I did, it was just to buy moomoo milk from the student store. The entire time, I was all "DO NOT PERCEIVE ME, I DO NOT EXIST, YOU DIDN'T SEE ME FUCK OFF"

Scarnoa is kinda similar, but also she has to be dragged back to school, because she WILL forget about it, and the staff HAS to check up on her, since she's effectively an orphan.

Team Star is both amused and also puzzled by her existence. They HAVE tried to recruit her a few times, but Nemona was always "NO, back off."

Can't wait to get into it, since Team Star has this vibe that I CONSTANTLY want to see, where it's just a bunch of found family group of kids, but far more organized than Team Skull, with rules to follow. Like yes, they're rowdy at times, and yes, they do step out sometimes, but it's never THAT serious, it's mostly an annoyance.

Team Skull, I love you, but some of you kiddos got too caught up in lashing out and being punks, that I had to feed a recovering Alolan Vulpix Malasadas so it could recover (I WISH WE COULD KEEP IT, instead it's by the Pokemon Center near the League when it fully recovers, and if you talk to it, you can play with it). :V

Okay as promised here's my more thoughts to follow in the Buffy update, A+ series had a great time. "Innocence", "Passion", "I Only Have Eyes For You" and "Becoming" so great, Buffy gets so much good everything for all the big Angel fallout Sarah Michelle Gellar is just always nailing it. Also actually warmed up to Cordyxander wasn't expecting that. Gonna admit wasn't super into Spike at first but I'll tell you into the second half once he was in the wheelchair loved that guy, dunno just wasn't really buying the hype they tried but after taking him down a few notches my kinda guy. RIP Jenny but she got a lot of great stuff loved her, RIP Kendra kinda wish she'd got a bit more for her death. Also I remember back in What's My Line I thought oh a cop who just starts blasting in a school of course she's an assassin but then they do the same thing in Becoming just as regular cops incredible. Also wow they went real hard on the queer coding with Buffy coming out to Joyce in Becoming (this was also a great scene), also a hard unsympathetic turn for Joyce especially in 3x01 with her blaming Giles for Buffy following Joyce's ultimatum, wasn't expecting it so much. Giles also, lotta great stuff, shocker Anthony Stewart Head does good work I know but he was so good in Passion and I Only Have Eyes For You. I didn't think I'd get so into the whole AngelxBuffy romance considering y'know I already knew how it goes but nah its still real good even with that foreknowledge. Also shout out to Willow just having to double as a teacher for the latter half of the series since Jenny died incredible stuff, and good for her getting into the witch phase which is what I mostly knew about her from second hand knowledge, besides that finding out she was gay in the evil mirror verse was part of how she found out she was gay herself.

Also I forgot about that joke about how David Boreanaz can't do an Irish accent and man he can really not do an Irish accent, I remember an episode of Angel where his pre Vampire memories took over or something and they just had him do the American accent, shout out also to Angel being dead and still in the opening credits for series 3 (I've watched one episode so far) really selling me that he's dead forever guys. Also gotta say despite I Only Have Eyes For You being real good, kinda sketchy the whole I dunno if the student being in a relationship with his teacher was handled particularly well. Like I get it yeah for the comparison between Angel and Buffy but directly bringing that in makes that a bit sketch as well, like I'm not gonna complain about age differences with vampire/human romances because its a staple, you can't get away from it they're vampires but if you're directly bringing in the comparisons y'know.

Also glad you mostly enjoyed the song recs, I've been listening to Rise Against since you said The Weight of my Pride is like them meets Fightstar (who I will also get to but I am incapable of checking out music in a way that isn't listening to they're entire discography in a row before trying out another one), they're so good I haven't clicked this hard with a band since I got into Dio and REO Speedwagon, its just banger after banger.

Also gonna go read HerInsectReflections' essays on series 2 like you recced. Will read your Common Ground fic when I get to around about Faith's heel turn I think.

Final last second thought the theme song seems a bit different for series 3? Dunno if I like it as much I'm sure it'll grow on me

Yeah! Definitely read the @herinsectreflection essays, they're really incredible. In particular I think you might enjoy skipping straight to the one she wrote for "I Only Have Eyes for You" since I think it does a really good job dissecting and contextualizing the teacher/student and age gap stuff in that episode while still acknowledging what sucks about it.

I know I've said before that my favorite episodes of Buffy are the ones that are really about other episodes of Buffy but I really mean it and I think you probably know exactly what I mean about that by now. As such, I'm really excited for you to get further into s3 and start getting to the Faith stuff. Very enmeshed with the Angel/Angelus arc.

Anyway fully agree re: Kendra. The show really did her dirty. It's got to be acknowledge that the one way Buffy fails egregiously and repeatedly throughout all 7 seasons in with race. Characters of color and black characters in particular are rarely seen, usually only fulfilling temporary roles, lack the depth and interiority of white characters and are usually victims of some sort of stereotyping. It's a bummer and I wish I could say it gets better but it really doesn't. Huge L!

Re: Spike - honestly yeah, for me he's best when he's kinda just being the buttmonkey.

I think the season 3 theme might be where they ditch the scream? I prefer the scream tbh. But when I watch with my best friend she does it for me, which is very sweet.

i feel like im gonna have a lot of very boring short ones like this because i dont really get to. do fun things. right now because of grad school workload. so there's that. anyways here she is

listening: same locked tomb podcasts as last week, plus some TDH. (i am once again projecting blorbo of the week onto TDH albums - last time it was the untamed onto act v, now we're doing the locked tomb on act iv, my brain is a circle)

walking around: did a LOT of walking this weekend - me + roommate + her boyfriend all went to her family's place outside of chicago for the weekend to belatedly celebrate all our birthdays! walked around geneva and batavia on saturday, i originally planned on using some birthday money on wardrobe additions but unfortunately nothing caught my eye, but i did get this very cute lamp pull from some woodworking grandpas

then we did chicago on sunday, mainly linkin park zoo, which was so good... got to see some great creatures.

fellowship: pain. too much fellowship. an abundance of fellowship. spent the whole weekend with people which was fun but boy howdy do i need some alone time

deliciousness: paneer my beloved. roommate got indian food last night and bequeathed the leftovers upon me so that was lunch today. we hit the chicago oven pizza grinder on sunday and that was pretty good, roommate really hyped it up but it was ... fine ... i think i just can't get over how weird the concept of "pizza pot pie" is. the dough was really good tho. best meal of the weekend was probably sushi on friday night, the restaurant also had one of those robots and it was very cute

goofing: zoo is probably included in the goofing. certainly saw some very good goofy lil guys. meerkats are for sure goofy little guys. hearing their little toes going tippy tap on the stone was priceless.

Thoughts:

I am a MOA at heart and have been since Run Away era. I am always excited for TXT releases, but I am also critical of them as I expect a lot from this group. They were my most streamed group in 2021 and 2023, I saw them live in 2023, and I have a dedicated playlist on my Spotify with local files of covers and songs not on streaming platforms. Safe to say I'm a diehard fan. However, this release made me feel mixed opinions.

The opening track is my favorite song on the album. TXT knows how to make an opening song that hooks you, and this is no exception. The song gives me 90s and 00s punk vibes. The vocals are crazy on this one, especially from Beomgyu and Yeonjun. I love when TXT does rock. The song blows me away every time I listen to it. Thank you, TXT, for this song. Sadly, this is the high of the album for me.

The title track is highly unexpected, and slightly disappointing. Somehow, CTF is an earworm. When I first listened to it, I was genuinely underwhelmed. Coming right off of Growing Pain, the hype was not maintained. It has a good 80s retro sound, and I really like the lyrics. It is almost too chill for me. Nevertheless, I cannot take it off of my playlist, very catchy. An easy listen is the best way for me to describe it.

Back for More is such a good pre-release. I was addicted to this song in September when it was released. Unfortunately, I overplayed it. The placement of this song is also kind of off-putting. Personally, I think it should have been after the more "edgy" songs of the album. For this reason, along with the overplaying, I always skip it. This song is still extremely captivating on it's own, and I am pleased that TXT got a well promoted pre-release track.

Dreamer and Deep Down have to be 2nd and 3rd place on this album, in no particular order. This is a slight high in the album for me. Here, TXT returns to sounds they have done in the past: R&B and EDM. I have been wanting this from TXT for so long. Interestingly enough, these songs sound slightly "off." Maybe it's the awkwardly high vocals on Dreamer that I cannot imagine being performed live, or the creepy, repetitive 'more' repeated in Deep Down. These are good songs, but I cannot focus too much on the details. Dreamer sounds ethereal and can put me into a trance, until the high notes in the chorus take me out of it. Deep Down gives me Can't We Just Leave The Monster Alive? vibes (a good thing), and is nice to have on a playlist, even if it is not perfectly executed.

Happily Ever After is a classic pop song, similarly to Happy Fools, but not as good. It has a really good pre-chorus and first half of the chorus, but once it gets to those la-la-las I want to skip. However, it's not as skippable as Ice Cream. It is rare that TXT makes a song that I want to skip, but here is the rough in the diamond.

I feel extremely neutral about Skipping Stones. It sounds like an anime outro to me and I cannot tell why. I know it will go hard in a concert setting, and I'm happy it is all in Korean (too many songs all in English). It feels like I should be obsessed with this song, but I am not. Maybe, it will hit after several months or once I see it live.

Blue Spring. Oh, Blue Spring, how I love you. I have had the live version of this song downloaded on my Spotify for months, so this song does not feel new to me. The live version is 100% better than the studio version too. I want to skip this song just so I can listen to the live version instead. This song would have been the PERFECT closer, but instead other songs come next.

Do It Like That and CTF English version kind of ruin the album for me. Without them, this album could have been a solid mini with some ups and downs. Instead, these two close out the album and it makes me feel sour. Do It Like That is not that good of a song to begin with, but it is so old at this point. It was supposed to be their summer bop, what is it doing in Freefall, that has a more alternative vibe, at all? I think Bighit just wanted the Jonas Brothers on the credits for the album honestly. And, even more pandering to the English audience, the English version of CTF is the final song. It is fine to include an English version, but why do they change already English lines to other, worse English lines? The original song had so much English to begin with. Extremely disappointing English version, and it makes me cringe that I'll have to learn these worse lyrics if I want to see them perform this live. I can't even hear Yeonjun sing, "I prepared to die..." or "feels like I'm on fire..." live. They took so much away from me.

Overall, I am somewhat disappointed with this release. When I take out the 3 English songs, it is listenable. I really wish they just made this a mini album, but here we are. Other than DILT, I don't hate any of these songs, so I guess it wasn't so bad.

Chapter 226

This chapter was alright, I was curious about the “Stage” thing Gaja was referring to in the previous chapter. I do like this magic level system, I would like to see how many other characters rank in this tier system. Other than this, I don’t have a whole lot to say in this one, especially when I’ve read the following. 

Chapter 227

Gotta admit, while she is quirky - I was somewhat disappointed with the princess. I was hoping for some fierce, strong, amazing yet elegant warrior of sorts lmao. But unfortunately that’s not the case, not the worst case scenario though. 

She’s a bit of an airhead, but she’s still amazing. Poor Undine has her work cut out for her! I am sure she has some offensive magic? Like she has all of this amazing mana, she has Undine... There’s gotta be something... right?

But jesus... that end. That’s just horrifying. That guy all by himself destroyed Diamond Kingdom, I really wanted to see more him in chapter 228, but unfortunately no. It’s just really frightening that one guy by himself could do that. How is Mars? Ladros? Lotus and his family? Morris even? That one Shining General that didn’t have an appearance reveal? We didn’t really get to meet the last two, but still can’t help but wonder. I am curious on how Diamond Kingdom will go after this massive blow. They just seem to be repeatedly defeated. 

Chapter 228

This chapter... Man. The explanation of Heart Kingdoms mana, I actually like that. 

Heart Kingdom being a place of natural magic, I imagine this will be the basic elements. Nothing complicated, just basic types of magic, yet used amazingly well. I get the feeling someone like Mereoleona would fit in really well there, lol.

High-key I am over all these Yami toilet jokes, let’s just end them please? Thank you.

Mimosa nice and prepared! That’s good. Gaja actually fought Megicula before too? That’s interesting... I hope we do get to see this along with Loropechika being cursed in the future, would be an interesting flashback at the very least. 

Now the awesome part, the time skip. Six months of training with Tier 0 mages of Heart Kingdom. I really wanna see the other 4 Spirit Guardians, know how they fight and even how they train the others we see. 

LEO!! Finally he’ll get that power up we’ve been waiting for since he claimed he’ll get better all the way back in CHAPTER 36!! Been a long ass wait, but he might finally get some awesome moments in this upcoming arc. He lost in the chance of becoming a Royal Knight, fight alongside the others. Lost miserably to Randall, unfortunately for him the moment he could have gotten something his body could no longer fight. 

I hope training with Heart Kingdom will help him in obtaining more power and can finally be worthy of being Asta and Yuno’s rival, close the already massive gap between him and the other two.

My question is... Is there gonna be more characters included than the ones we saw? Maybe those are the ones who will just get more attention this arc? It’s a rather small group for such a big fight, would be a neat way to introduce a couple new characters (*cough* more vice captains *cough*) 

I am curious to see how things will be 6 months later? Will Julius still be WK? Everyone will be half a year older, so maybe new looks for the younger ones? New squad members? 6 months isn’t a huge time-skip, but it’s really the first “big” one Black Clover has had. 

I’m really looking forward to this next chapter!! Hoping for an amazing colour page too!

there's something i can't put my finger on about the scene where kid katsuki finds out that izuku doesnt have a quirk (i believe its a flashback when they fight all might) and it bothers me every time i think about it. its like the point where he really starts believing his own hype and breaking away from thinking anyone else is on his level. i think specifically because izuku isn't on that level anymore? someone he actually thought could rival him as a kid? maybe? the dialogue is pretty in your face but i always feel like theres a subtext im not grasping. of course theres a BUNCH of other emotions on top of it because kacchans havin a little freak out but that whole ep in particular does make me wonder how much katsuki actually acknowledged izuku before their quirks were a thing

Assuming I'm understanding correctly, you’re looking at the flashback from Deku vs Kacchan (S01E07).

And you’re not wrong: Katsuki singles Izuku out even before his Explosion quirk develops.

((Side note: The two characters I relate to the most in the entire series are Izuku and Katsuki as four-year-olds. It’s almost unnerving to me, actually. I had so many similar childhood experiences (well, I imagine many people did, there’s so much that’s universal in that bit of the story), and honestly this is the first dynamic that got me invested in the story.))

My opinions about this flashback have changed over time, even undergoing a drastic change...just now while watching it again, lol.

You see, for reference, I am of the opinion that Katsuki has a unique, meaningful perspective about the world, and he knows it. I’m not talking about his obsession with power or victory, nor am I talking about his arrogance or superiority and inferiority complexes.

I think Katsuki has opinions about the world, recognizes they are different from those of most people, and realizes that society’s views are very often superficial and meaningless in comparison. And I’m not just talking about his treatment of Ochako and rejection of first place at the sports festival.

I see it as early as episode 1 when everyone except Katsuki laughs at Izuku for wanting to apply to the UA hero course even though he’s quirkless.

I see it in episode 2 when Katsuki ignores the praise from pro heroes to focus on Izuku, whom the pro heroes are simultaneously scolding.

Katsuki has always seen something in Izuku that the rest of the world misses. He takes Izuku very seriously, even when society around him tells him that he shouldn’t. Katsuki doesn’t seem to always know what to think or how to feel about it, but he can’t stop noticing whatever this thing is about Izuku that demands his attention.

It’s his heart, in case you don’t know. Katsuki is in awe of Izuku’s heart, whether or not he realizes it.

Anyways, let’s take a look at their childhood.

For a long time, whenever I watched these flashbacks, it seemed to me that Katsuki compares himself to Izuku constantly. He only does this with Izuku, not with any of their other friends. I couldn’t think of why he singles out Izuku like this other than how maybe he subconsciously picks up on how special Izuku is, even before Izuku turns out to be quirkless. In other words, Katsuki sees Izuku’s heroic heart from the get-go.

But now I don’t think that anymore.

We get three moments from their childhood before Katsuki’s quirk manifests.

Soccer scene:

Katsuki impresses Izuku with his soccer juggling

Katsuki claims juggling is easy

Izuku fails when he tries to juggle

Katsuki wonders at how badly Izuku does

Nickname scene:

Katsuki impresses Izuku and the neighborhood kids with his reading skills

Katsuki comments on how none of the others can even read kanji

Katsuki explains that “Deku” means a person who can’t do anything

Izuku is embarrassed

Katsuki wonders why Izuku doesn’t know how to read as well

Skipping rocks scene:

Katsuki impresses Izuku and the neighborhood kids with his rock-skipping skills

Katsuki wants to know how many times Izuku’s rock skipped

Izuku is embarrassed his rock didn’t skip at all

Katsuki wonders why Izuku can’t skip rocks

What strikes me about each of these scenes is Katsuki’s earnestness. Sure, he comes across as cocky and a bit of a show-off, but at the same time, he’s not setting Izuku up for failure. He doesn’t understand why Izuku just can’t get it when whatever they’re doing comes so easily to Katsuki himself. It doesn’t make sense to him.

In other words, Katsuki thinks of Izuku as his equal.

But here’s the thing: For each of those ending moments I bolded, Katsuki sounds genuinely confused. In the soccer scene, he laughs with disbelief, like, “Oh wow, you actually can’t do this, can you?” In the nickname scene, he thinks he’s showing off that he knows multiple readings of Izuku’s name, but it turns out no one else can read Izuku’s name at all. Yet his “You can’t?” line to the neighborhood kids does sound condescending, while his “Why don’t you know?” thought, directed at Izuku, is soft and sincere, like, “Huh, why don’t you know your own name?” He sounds just as confused in the rock-skipping scene except maybe also a little exasperated, like, “I don’t get it. Why can’t you do it?”

And here’s the other thing: Katsuki always goes first.

He’s not at all invested in the other kids. Katsuki is showing off to Izuku. He demonstrates soccer juggling for Izuku. He reads the kanji in Izuku’s name for Izuku. He skips the rocks on the water with Izuku as if it’s the first time both of them have ever tried.

It’s like Katsuki is trying to teach Izuku, and each time Izuku fails to get it, Katsuki also fails as a teacher.

It’s not Katsuki’s fault that Izuku doesn’t get it, of course. Children don’t exactly have degrees in pedagogy. Katsuki would have to understand how Izuku’s mind works, how he learns, to properly teach him. And Katsuki hasn’t developed that level of empathy yet. It’s not exactly a subject in school that he gets graded on either, so he doesn’t even know it’s a skill he’s lacking.

So instead of coming to the conclusion that Katsuki is bad at teaching Izuku, he reevaluates his previous assumption: perhaps they aren’t equals after all.

He comes to this conclusion when his quirk manifests:

And it’s not surprising he’d come to this conclusion in this way. He now sees a clear biological difference between him and everyone else that explains why he’s so good at everything.

And if Katsuki’s amazing, then it’s not his fault Izuku is so bad at everything. Everyone’s just not as good as he is. That means, even if Izuku gets the strongest quirk in the world, Katsuki can still be stronger.

But then, Katsuki’s new worldview gets worse. It gets compounded by Izuku’s quirklessness:

Now there’s a clear biological difference between Izuku and everyone else, and from Katsuki’s perspective that difference is in the opposite direction. Katsuki is good at everything, so when he gets a good quirk, he concludes he’s better than everyone. His quirk’s manifestation just makes that “fact” clear. Izuku is bad at everything, so when he gets no quirk, Katsuki comes to think Izuku is worse than everyone.

It’s a bit of a chicken-and-egg paradox, since he has to be told his quirk was amazing by his teachers and hear from his peers that it’s lame to be quirkless before he makes these connections. Would he have thought quirklessness was actually that bad had it not been introduced to his life via Izuku? I actually do wonder about that, because these things all seem very precariously tied together in his head. But ultimately, I don’t think Katsuki’s problems with Izuku stem from Izuku’s quirklessness; I think the quirklessness filled in the missing piece in Katsuki’s poorly-constructed house of cards.

And then it all comes tumbling down.

You know, I think we all just kind of assumed for the longest time that this scene is about Katsuki realizing Izuku has a caring heart, something a hero needs, something that Katsuki lacks, and that makes him self-conscious. But, when I think about it...

Izuku’s kind of overreacting, isn’t he?

Katsuki isn’t hurt. He smiles and laughs after the fall. He’s barely even embarrassed about it (a far cry from how he might have reacted at an older age). Maybe Izuku is justified in coming down into the ravine to offer a friendly hand, but this is a bit of a dramatic reaction:

He asks if Katsuki is okay, if he can stand, after Katsuki has already told everyone he’s okay. Katsuki’s reaction is to frown like, uh, yeah dude, I already said I’m okay. Then Izuku says:

And that’s probably the most appropriate thing Izuku says about the situation.

Unfortunately, it gives Katsuki context for the strange expression on Izuku’s face.

So there are two things happening here.

1. Izuku is frowning. He looks worried. It’s early in the story so we haven’t had much commentary on this from the narrative yet, but that’s bad. That’s poor form. When you rescue a victim, you have to smile, look strong, give reassurance. Izuku’s not that great at rescue...or that’s what I would have said if he wasn’t four-years-old. And maybe Katsuki even recognizes that. Maybe Katsuki looks at Izuku’s rescue attempt and thinks, meh, 3/10.

2. It’s still better than anything Katsuki’s done in the rescue department.

When Izuku fell over while they were playing soccer, Katsuki didn’t offer to help him up. He’s only ever teased Izuku, postured around him, competed with him. And that means Katsuki has never demonstrated an example of rescue to Izuku ever. And yet rescuing people seems to come naturally to Izuku.

Meaning Katsuki was wrong: there’s something Izuku actually can do.

Oh, and it gets even worse! Katsuki never demonstrated a rescue to Izuku, but he did try to teach him! He tried to teach him a lot of things! And Izuku never caught on. You could construe those “lessons” as very meager rescue attempts.

So Izuku is a lot better than Katsuki at rescue, even though Izuku kinda sucks at it. And Katsuki recognizes that.

We don’t know what happens after this point.

Have you ever thought about that? We don’t know what happens next! Did Katsuki take Izuku’s hand? Did he shout at Izuku, try to correct him? Did he blow Izuku off and get up by himself? That seems most likely but... What actually happened? We just don’t know!

So then Katsuki goes through life with Izuku chasing him around as that one oddity that doesn’t fit into his mental picture of life. Katsuki doesn’t want it. He doesn’t want to think about it. He doesn’t want to figure out what that means. What the hell is Izuku, and why does he complicate things so much? If Katsuki were to examine it closely, the truth could upend his entire worldview. And that’s terrifying.

So Katsuki fears Izuku’s heart and tries to push him away, because an examination of those questions would lead to facing his weaknesses, those deficiencies he has to correct in order to become a true hero. That’s also terrifying, that he may be bad at something.

It’d be easier if he could just somehow prove once and for all that he’s better than Izuku so he can move on and be done with it. No one else feels like they have to prove themselves against Izuku, not in middle school anyways, but Katsuki says he was actually looking forward to crushing Izuku in the UA entrance exam were they able to compete on the same field. Katsuki is dying for some sort of competition to prove he doesn’t need to think about how Izuku seems to challenge his understanding of the world. Then he can move on and leave Izuku behind forever.

So why would it be absolutely world-shattering if Izuku actually had a quirk the whole time?

If Izuku actually did have a strong quirk, this would explain everything and reaffirm Katsuki’s worldview. Well, except it would prove that Izuku is better than him after all. Izuku’s strength in rescue isn’t a fluke. Katsuki is just a bad teacher.

Katsuki doesn’t understand that he was ever a bully at all. He thinks he’s in a competition of equals. He thinks Izuku gets it, that Izuku sees the world the same way Katsuki does. So he can keep up their vicious competition for a long time.

Until he figures out the secret of One For All and Izuku’s relationship with All Might. Until he realizes Izuku really was quirkless all along.

Only then does Katsuki finally face the truth. He and Izuku never understood each other even a little bit. They both saw something amazing in each other, something they each lacked that the other had. They weren’t equals, they were peers, each with something to teach the other. And neither of them ever succeeded at getting the lesson across.

Not before Deku vs Kacchan 2, anyway.

Once they come to their understanding after that fight, Katsuki starts actively inspiring Izuku, encouraging him, training him, teaching him. And if you’re a manga reader, if you’ve read chapter 284, you know exactly why.

You didn't even think twice when your powerful hearing picked up on her cries. You pushed yourself off your knees where you were scrubbing the tile floors, and sprinted as fast as you could through the manor. You finally reached the servants quarters, and didn't bother knocking on her door, barging right in. What you see makes your heartbreak and anger rise and burn in your throat.

Angelique’s curled into a ball sitting on the floor in between her bed and dresser. Tears rolling down her face, as a big bruise forms on her cheek, dried stream of her blood running from her lip down her chin.

You enter her room, closing the door behind you, you take a few steps towards Angelique before stopping. You drop to your knees and crawl the last couple feet towards her, stopping a foot away. Angelique hasn't acknowledged your presents, so you're careful not to touch her, you don't want to scare her.

"Angelique." You say softly, trying to get her attention. She continues to stare ahead, straight through you. "Angie, please, talk to me." You try again, voice cracking. You used your nickname for her, hoping it will snap her out of her trance.

She continues to stare at nothing, after a few moments of silence she speaks, so quiet that someone with normal hearing would have had a hard time understanding it.

"Master Collins caught me staring at Barnabas"

"Is that why you got that bruise? Because you stared at his son." You ask, your voice so low it comes out more as a growl. Angelique nods. "Angie, you can't keep doing this, the man is going to get you killed." You explain, hoping she finally listens to you. She doesn't.

"I just need to get his parents out of the way, then we can be together." She says, completely ignoring what you said. She stands up eruptly, moving through her room, grabbing a spell book from her hiding place. she turns back to you, her bruise and dried blood gone from her face. "Cover for me?" She asks.

You want to say "No way!" Tell her he's not worth it, tell her she's not thinking clearly. But you don't, you just nod your head. She grins and leaves the room, leaving you completely alone. Just like every other time she ditches you for Barnabas. You used to be inseparable, always following each other around, well you followed Angelique around. But there wasn't a day you weren't together. 

At least until Barnabas Collins started showing interest in Angelique, after that, they were always sneaking around, doing things that could get Angie beaten if anyone found out. And you had to just sit there, praying the day they get caught would never come. A small part of yourself, hopes they do get caught, because then Angie would have to stop seeing him, and spend time with you again. You hate that part of yourself.

You admitted to yourself a long time ago that your feelings for Angie went way beyond friendship. Many times you catch yourself watching Angie while she watches Barnabas. Wishing she'd look at you like that. That intense stare, following wherever he goes.

It makes your blood boil knowing he doesn't love her, he only uses her, and Angie is to blind with love to see it. If they ever got caught, nothing would happen to him, he would go about his life like nothing happened, never sparing Angelique another thought.

And his parents, they would see that Angelique disappeared, you'd never see her again. And it would be all his fault, all because he was a man whore. The time that they get caught will come sooner or later. Angelique's right, his parents have to go. It's the only way she'll be safe. You can't wait for Angie to find a way, it could take days, weeks even, and the chances of getting caught are higher every day. You have to help her, you can't stand the thought of never seeing her again.

You sit there, on Angie's floor, trying to think of ways to ensure Angie's safety. There's only one thing that comes to mind, and you hate it, it disgusts you, makes you feel ill, but it's the only way, you'll have to kill them yourself, tonight. during the full moon.

Rising from the floor, you leave to find master Collins and lady Collins. It's getting dark, and the full moon is starting to rise. And every night master and lady Collins take an evening stroll. Everything's coming together perfectly. You would never do what you're about to do, but it's for Angie, you tell yourself. You hide in the trees near the manor, all you have to do is wait. And try not to chicken out.

 The moon finally reaches peak position, you realize with dread. You step further into the shadows, letting the transformation take its hold on you. You've learned not to fight it, it only hurts if you do. After a few moments it's done, your legs and feet are longer and you're covered in hair.

A noise alerts you to two people approaching. the Collins on their walk, You  crouch down to not alert their dog, and wait for them to get closer. Oddly before they can get close enough, a giant seahorse gargoyle falls onto them, killing them. You stand there, shocked before realizing Angelique must have found a way of getting rid of them. You run further into the wood, knowing the sound that statue made will make a servant or two investigate.

By the morning when you transform back into your human form, everyone knows of master and lady Collins passing. On your way to bed you're practically tackled by Angelique, she throws her arms around you. You're surprised but hug her back, when she finally pulls away she drags you into her room. 

"Where were you last night? I came to your room last night to tell you something important but you weren't there." Angelique asks. Worried.

"Oh, I was out again, you know, watching the stars and full moon. I fell asleep out there again." You lie. You're a terrible liar but you know how to distract Angie so she forgets about it. "What did you have to tell me?" You ask quickly when it looked like Angelique was going to comment on your lie.

It works. Angie forgets, she immediately starts grinning. "I did it, I killed them." She whispers, so proud of what she's accomplished.

"I thought you might've had something to do with that accident." You say, even though you knew she had everything to do with it. Her grin gets wider.

"This means Barnabas and I can be together." She says, excitedly. Your heart drops, you forgot why she wanted them gone, so she could continue sleeping with Barnabas. Your heartbreaks, you don't hear what Angie's saying, it all sounds underwater to you. But you do notice that she starts to leave, practically skipping to the door. She turns around to say something else to you before she leaves.

"Oh, and (y/n), maybe don't fall asleep outdoors anymore. There could be werewolves." She says, jokingly. Before smiling and leaving you alone in her room once again. Her joke ringing in your ears, you never told her what you were. You didn't want her to know, the thought of her ever seeing you in that ugly form disgusts you. You feel bad for hiding it, but it's for the best.

Despite two of the Collins dying, everything continues on like normal, do your chores, then do whatever you want as long as you're not in the Collins family's way. Of course, it's only Barnabas now. Which means more freedom, but it comes at a price, that price for you is you never see Angie, and when you do all she does is complain that Barnabas isn't spending time with her. You want to be annoyed, but at least you're seeing her when she's complaining.

That's how it goes for weeks, only seeing her when she complains to you about Barnabas not sleeping with her. You're getting mad about it, all she does is tell you how she threw herself at him again and he just sends her away. But today is different.

She storms into your room while you're reading, she's angry, something about seeing Barnabas with some girl. How they were kissing and confessing their love for each other, you know Barnabas told Angie he didn't love her, you can see how mad Angie is. It makes you angry, but not for the reason she wants.

"Maybe you should just let him be happy, he clearly loves this girl." You snap, you couldn't hold it in anymore. All that anger is finally coming out.

"Excuse me! I tell you he's cheating on me and your suggestion if I let him!" Angelique yells, her anger now focusing on you. You don't care, you're going to say what needs to be said anyways.

"He's not cheating on you! He was never courting you! He was just using you, and you let him!" You yelled, frustrated. Why couldn't she just see that he doesn't love her.

"Whose side are you on?" She asks, angrily. You growl and grit out "yours" "are you sure? Cause it sounds like you don't care about me." She says, and that weakens you. Your shoulders slump, and you try your best to take deep breaths, releasing all your anger.

Once you've calmed down you address her. "I'm sorry Angie, I do care about you. It's just, miss you, i never see you anymore." You say sadly, look down at your hands, hoping she accepts your apology. 

You hear her sigh, and feel her hand on your face, lifting your head up  to look at her. Once you look at her she rubs her thumb over your cheek. You close your eyes, relaxing into her touch. "I am sorry too, you must have felt abandoned. I promise not to do it again. I just need to figure out how to get rid of this whore that's trying to take Barnabas away from me." She says, still rubbing circles in your cheek. 

"I don't know Ang, push her off a cliff." You say, not really thinking about it, still caught up in the feeling and her warm hand on your face. But when she stops drawing patterns in your face, you open your eyes. Angelique has a wicked grin on her face, you've never seen her like this before, it scares you.

"You're a genius, my dear." She says, and you blush at the praise and pet name. But before you can say anything, she's withdrawing her hands and walks away. Once again leaving you. You sit there, staring at the door, you can't believe it happened again. She left you again, after promising. You close your door and cry.

You don't leave your room for two days, And no one checks on you. You know you'll have to leave your room before tonight, you can't risk changing into a werewolf while in the manor. But you stay in bed till you know you can't wait any longer, finally you sneak out, towards the servants staircase. But when you hear people on the stairwell, you quickly decide you don't want to see anyone and get asked questions, so you turn on your heels, heading for the main stairwell. 

You hear a commotion from below, it sounds like a man shouting. You peer over the railing, listening to what was happening. You can't see anyone but you can hear them. 

"You're a wretched woman, you're vile and evil, you killed the woman I love, you cursed me to be this monster, and you have the audacity to try and place your lips upon me!" You hear Barnabas shout, and he finally comes onto view. You're shocked by what you see, Barnabas is paler than you've ever thought possible, his fingernails are longer and sharper, almost like yours when you change. And the most terrifying part about him, he's covered in blood. "What did you do Angie?" You whisper to yourself.

You see Angelique following after him, a frown on her face, she grabs Barnabas's arm, spinning him to look at her. "Don't you see, I did this for us. So we could finally be together." She says, touching his face. Just like she did with you. A growl tries to escape your throat, you clasp your hands over your mouth. You realize in horror that you stayed too long, that the moon has risen. Backing away from the railing you hunch over, transforming, you try to stop it, hold it off just a little longer, but it's too strong.

Suddenly you hear a crash coming from below. Rushing back to the railing you see Angelique crumbled on the floor, on the complete opposite side of the room, from where she stood earlier. Barnabas slowly approaches, glaring down at Angelique, it's clear what happened, Barnabas threw her off of himself.

Barnabas lifts Angie up by her throat, you can see her struggling to breathe. And the next thing you know you're running full speed towards the two of them, slamming into Barnabas. You and him go tumbling to the floor, you hear Angie drop to the floor behind you, coughing and gasping for air.

You and Barnabas get up quickly, he stares at you in shock, you glare back. Your tense, ready to attack, "(y/n)? What has this witch done to you?" Barnabas asks, looking you over, deeply concerned about the state you're in. He reaches out to touch You, you growl and he pulls back. You can hear the coughing subside behind you, then a strained voice. 

"(Y/n)?" Angelique says, shock clear in her voice, despite how rough it was. You send Barnabas another glare before turning to Angelique, dropping to your knees before her. 

"Angie, are you alright?" You ask, carefully reaching to touch the bruising on her neck. You ignore Angie's eyes burning into your face, and focus on searching her for broken bones.

You touch her wrist, feeling for breaks. Angelique clasps her hand around your wrist, not painful, just enough to get your attention. you look at her, and you wish you could look away. "Why didn't you tell me?" her eyes bore into you so intensely, almost searching your very soul for the information she wants.

"I, I didn't want you to see me like this." You say, finally breaking eye contact. Staring at her bruises instead, until the familiar feeling of her hand on your cheek pulls you back in.

"I could have helped you." She says sadly, eyes showing the hurt she feels. You shake your head, pulling her hand away. "No spell can fix me Angie, you know that." You tell her, crying. Saddened by her concern for you. Stepping away from her, you turn back to Barnabas.

Barnabas was still standing there, watching your interaction. You send him another glare as you slowly advance on him. You can see the concern in his eyes, concern for his safety. He starts talking, rambling about what Angie did, how she deserves to burn for her crimes. You strike, your back hand to his face sends him into the wall. You ignore the gasp you hear coming from Angelique. You advance on him again, this time, once he gets back up, the fear in his eyes is gone, replaced with hate and determination.

He charges at you, and you're in a fight of teeth and claws, both trying to rip the other apart. You'll be damned if he's the survivor of the battle, you'll be the one winning this, even if it means Angelique never looks at you again, at least she'll be safe. 

Barnabas throws a nasty punch to your stomach and in your moment of weakness, he grabs you, throwing you across the room. You hit the floor, sliding, you use your claws on the tile to slow you down, the sound is terrible but it stops you from hitting the wall behind you. Your back up, running at Barnabas, he charges you too, you leap up, striking in from the air. The blow causes him to be knocked over. You are on him, hands wrapped under his neck, trying to get it to break. He shoves you off, pushing you away a few feet, you run back towards him, only to get kicked. Thrown into the statue pillar, a sickening crack is heard and you're not sure if it came from you of the statue, too disoriented to tell.

 You struggle to your feet when you hear Barnabas approaching, but he's next to you before you can, lifting you into the air by your throat. You struggle, trying to pry his hands away with your own, kicking him. You know the kicks hurt but he stays strong, choking you out. "I'm sorry about this (y/n)" he says, remorsefully, squeezing tighter. It's become very hard to see, you really just want to close your eyes. You can barely make out the scream coming from somewhere in the room.

"ENOUGH!"

Suddenly you drop to the floor, pain shooting through your knees from the impact, you gasp for air, struggling to inhale any. Your vision slowly comes back, you're able to see Barnabas, floating in mid air struggling to get out of the invisible hold he's in. You continue taking deep breaths, focusing your very limited vision on Barnabas, worried he'll drop at any second.

You flinch when you feel someone touch you, you jerk away from the touch, only to be pulled back into it. The smell of vanilla, and the unmistakable stench of magic hit your nose, you relax into it. Welcoming the touch you've been pulled into. You finally take your eyes off Barnabas, and focus on Angie. Taking in the tears on her cheeks, and the slight quiver of her lip.

"You idiot, you almost got killed, why should you do something so stupid?" Angelique asks, furiously. But you can see the concern all over her face. You smile, sheepishly. "You're welcome." Angie didn't like that answer, not one bit. Glaring at you, her way of saying "Don't joke." You stop smiling, You clear your throat, wincing in pain when you do. Angelique frowns, moving her hand over your throat, barely grazing it, you flinch when you feel it, causing her to pull back slightly.

Angelique carefully moves her hand back towards you, keeping eye contact. You don't flinch when she touches you this time, your neck feels tingly, then the pain in your throat is gone. "Now, tell me why you thought fighting a vampire was a good idea." Angie says, sternly. removing her hand from your throat.

"He hurt you, I couldn't stand by and watch him choke you to death." You explain to her, causing Angie to sigh.  "So you thought you'd kill him. Sweetie, that's not like you." Angie says, running her hand through your messy hair, you wince when she touches a spot on the back of your head, both of you realizing you must have hit it, Angelique starts healing it. "I would do it for you, I would have killed his parents that night if you didn't beat me to it." You say, revealing that information caused Angelique to frown.

"You were going to kill Barnabas's parents for me? Why would you do something like that for me?" Angie asks, her brows scrunching in confusion. "Why are you so willing to hurt people or get hurt for me?" She questioned, and you realize this is the best opportunity to tell her.

"I would do anything for you, I love you." You tell Angelique, looking at every little detail on her face, memorizing it. When you meet her eyes you shiver, she's looking at you the way she does Barnabas, that intense possessive stare, the look you always wished was directed at you. You can help looking at her lips, Angie notices, her lips forming into a smirk.

She uses the hand still holding the back of your head to slowly pull your head towards hers, you're so excited, you're about to kiss the girl you've been dreaming about. But before you can press your lips to hers, you remember something and pull back. It confuses Angelique, but you quickly explain.

"My teeth are a lot sharper in this form, I could hurt you." You tell her, showing her your sharpened teeth. She looks at them and laughs. "I'll be careful." She says, leaning back into. You pull back again. "That's great but I might forget and cut you. Maybe we should wait till the sun rises?" You say, glancing towards the window. Angie pouts but nods, understanding your concern.

"Thank gods, I didn't want to see that disgusting display" you hear Barnabas growl. Angie's and your heads snap up to Barnabas, glaring daggers. You growl back but Angie acts quick, Barnabas is slammed into the ground, the tile shattering upon his impact. He's then thrown into the wall opposite the two of you, and finally he's positioned again in the spot he was hanging from earlier, his unconscious body above you.

Your eyes are brought back to Angie by the always familiar hand on your cheek, you lean against her hand, a content sigh leaving your lips. Angie smiles at you. "I love you." She whispers, kissing your cheek, very close to your lips. You're so happy, but one fear looms over you, along with his body.

"What are you going to do about Barnabas?" You ask Angie, you're deeply worried about her response. Her soft smile turns into a wicked grin, the same one you witnessed after telling her to push that girl off a cliff, it's worries you but gives you hope at the same time.

"I think the town's people would be very interested in knowing about our local vampire." She says, eyes wild. She grins at you then sneers at Barnabas's body.

The plan was simple. Angie tells the town's people about Barnabas, leads the angry mob to the manor, and you stay hidden so no one sees you, and she'll be back to you by sunrise. So far it's went well, they came for Barnabas dragging him out of the house, you've been hiding in Angie's spell room, the one place no one can find, unless Angie wants them to find it. The sun is almost risen, you'll turn back soon, but Angie isn't here yet. You're worried, what if Barnabas told everyone she was a witch and they believed him, what if he broke free and killed her. What if she just doesn't want to come back to you.

You've paced the room for what feels like forever, worrying yourself into a panic. You're about to sneak upstairs to see if there's any sign of Angie when you hear footsteps echo down the stone steps. The latch on the door clicks open and the door swings open, Angie strides in, a smirk plastered on her face. She closes the door behind her with a flick of her wrist. 

"I'm sorry, those idiots wanted to try stoning him first, they didn't realize it would work, finally, they decided to bury him deep in the woods in a chained up coffin." She explains, washing the dirt from her hands in a wash bowl. "I marked the place he was buried, just to make sure we remember and so no one can unearth him." She continues saying.

You've listened silently, just content on watching her. You're so relieved she's back, safe, not one scorch mark on her. She turns around, catching you staring, she smirks and winks at you. You blush at being caught. Angelique stalks towards you, like she's hunting her prey. As she reaches you the sunlight shines through the window, basking the room in a golden color, all you can think about is how beautiful the color makes Angie look. But her grin makes you know she's thinking something very different.

Angie reaches out, grabbing your skirts pulling you closer to her, you gasp at the feeling of her body pressing against yours. Angie leans in to whisper something in your ear. "As cute as you look in the other form, this one's my favorite." She says, then kisses below your ear.

You gasp, both at the feeling of her lips and breathe on your ear and because you forgot what the sunrise meant. You're human again. You pull back so you can see Angie's face, and you can tell she can't hold off anymore. You lean forward, and Angie surges forwards meeting your lips, it doesn't take long for a whimper to leave your lips, but Angie swallows it, pressing further into you.

It's bliss, pure bliss, you've never been happier than in this moment, and you know, it'll feel like this for a very long time to come. You'll do anything to keep Angie happy, and in the following centuries, you do just that. Sure Angie is happy with you, your relationship hasn't lost any if it's intensity or love. But you're in love with a devious little witch, and she thinks it's fun to mess with the Collins family, she even asks you to help sometimes, so when she begs and seduces you into going to bite the Collins kid. You do it.
