YEONJUN...

gets drunk and goes to sleep at your neighbour's place because he thought that was your house.

you had to drag him by the ears.

cries to you about how much he loves you and how he would not be able to live if you didn't say yes to marry him.

tries to take out all the wedding albums and cries while pointing at pictures.

had a full on hiccup session after seeing a picture of soobin and him on his bachelor's ramen get together where they were egging beomgyu.

SOOBIN...

refuses to throw away his waifu body pillows.

"bABE listen TO ME THEY MAKE WONDERFUL PILLOWS AND THEY ARE CHEAP."

tries to watch animes with you and gets uncomfortable when babes with anime racks on screen, fumbling to turn the screen off and if he can't do that—

holds your hand and makes you face all while the anime boobs were jiggling and defying all three rules of gravity,

"babe your pair is the most beautiful pair to me."

BEOMGYU...

whips out his phone and starts recording you fighting another person in the whole foods section in the grocery to get the last discounted item.

screams 'world star' while recording.

totally hypes you up but when he sees the other person's husband approaching

quickly gets a hold of you, and your cart and power walks away before he gets his own ass beaten.

TAEHYUN...

refuses to ask for directions.

at any cost. like he can't believe you would ask him to ask anyone for directions in this modern world of google map and self driven cars.

nastily side eyes you when you suggest that to him.

like a full on.

"maybe there WAS some questions i should have asked before i proposed."

HUENING KAI....

you both have been married for a few months and still can't believe he is married.

fell out of his bed when you woke up next to him because he forgot he was living with you.

called you his best friend when you both went to register for your marriage certificate.

practices, "yes i got married, this is my lovely wife," in the mirror.

he is hiding a very big secret.

he will never tell you but he lost the engagement rings on the wedding day and almost had to be carried to the emergency room.

Part 1

"I would never want to kiss you even if you were the last other person on Earth!"

Well, maybe that's why they say you should watch what you say. But Hyeseul would have never thought that what ended up happening the day after she said that would actually happen. In fact, she didn't even realize it at first.

The house was quiet when Hyeseul woke up one day. And it wasn't even the usual "everyone is out" quiet that she deals with almost everyday. There was something odd about it... but the girl really didn't have the time to try and fins out what it was.

She was, after all, already getting late for school.

Skip to twenty minutes later, and a fully dresses, washed, and rushing Hyeseul with bread in her mouth is rushing out the door, while struggling to wear her shoes. "Bye, Heejun!" she bids her younger brother whom she assumes is still sleeping in his room; and before long, she takes off running.

The school wasn't that far, so the girl didn't really have to rush so much. And thankfully, she got there just about five minutes before classes started.

Yet oddly enough, there was... no one around...

Hyeseul stopped running, as soon as she reached the entrance of her school's main building and the hallways of the school layed bare before her eyes. No one, not a single soul, was in sight.

Of course, Hyeseul might have faintly recalled failing to see a security guard at the gates to check if she were wearing her uniform correctly, but because she was rushing, the thought only merely went over her head, only to return upin seeing her school's barren hallways.

"Where is everybody?" the girl mumbles as she takes a step further in, her eyes going around the place, searching. It's almost as if everyone suddenly disappeared.

It was odd, of course. There was only three minutes left now until classes started, and somehow, the school is empty. Hyeseul made sure to check the classroom, too. Nothing.

"Did classes get suspended?" she wondered as she continued wandering into the school. "Or is this some sort of elaborate prank and, for some reason... I'm the victim..."

Hyeseul opened a classroom, the one she was meant to go to. It was completely bare, still, and the silence she met when she woke up that morning was the only thing that greeted her.

And then she realized.

That silence did feel strange... Because it wasn't just the inside of her house that was silent. So was the outside!

Creak...

Hyeseul whipped her head around as she turned her gaze from out the window. She had hoped that the door creaking was a sign of another human life greeting her. And she was right... Just, not the one she was hoping for.

"Oh... you." Hyeseul spoke with a frown as she looked towards the door to see her classmate Kai standing with his bag hanging from his shoulder.

He seemed just as confused as she was. And it was obvious in his eyes that he was rather relieved to have found a companion.

"Oh, thank goodness, Hyeseul! I thought everyone really disappeared! But at least, you're here! Do you know where everyone else is?!" All of a sudden, the boy suddenly started rambling. And in response, Hyeseul let out a disapproving gruntle as she turned back to the window.

Of course, even if his whole surroundings were silent, Kai was surely only going to fill it eventually with how noisy he tends to be.

"...seul. Hey, Hyeseul!"

"What?!" Quite harshly, the girl turned around, only to surprise herself when she finds Kai suddenly right beside her. Her eyes widened, before his did, and the girl took no time another step back away from him.

The image of what had happened and what she had said before revived itself in her head, and that only caused her to feel even more flustered with the boy standing so close.

She vowed that she would never want to kiss him — or have any sort of feelings for him — after the boy was so annoyingly teased against her by their mutual friends. Not that either one of them had feelings for each other. But Hueseul thought it must have been because their friends knew very well how she didn't really like the amount of energy Kai always possessed and liked to take out on his daily tasks.

"Like a kid always on a sugar rush," is what Hyeseul once described him as.

And she? "A non-goth emo teenager," as Kai once accidentally described her as.

Though, of course, that's not exactly why she disliked him. Frankly speaking, they were complete opposites. Everyone could see that. Even the friends that teased the two teens with each other.

"Opposites attract," is what they said. But who in real life would believe that??

Kai soon joined Hyeseul in peering out the window, and after not seeing anything — or anyone for that matter — for only a few seconds, he turns to the girl.

"Don't you see anyone?"

"Don't you ever shut your mouth?" she responds, causing Kai to do just that as she rolled her eyes and moved away from the windows towards the blackboard.

"Well, it is strange that no one's coming," she then went on, before checking the time on her phone, "and it's already past eight and the school bell hasn't even sounded either... Just another sign that we might just be the only people in this establishment..."

"Or the whole world, probably," Kai mumbled to himself as he followes Hyeseul with his gaze. Unfortunately for him, the girl still heard his words.

"What?" With her brows furrowed almost into a frown, she turned to Kai, and the latter widened his eyes as if he were caught doing something bad.

"W-what?"

"Oh, for goodness' sake, Kai! I'm already stuck with you in this stupid school! Don't make it worse by making me think I'm actually stuck with just you in the whole world! And how's that supposed to make sense? Everyone just disappeared?!" Hyeseul waved her arms in the air, clearly frustrated with the whole deal.

But even she knew that it was already very odd, this silence and emptiness. And Kai might as well be right. She just didn't want to admit it, yet...

And so the day passed, and nothing much happened. Nothing much, becauss despite how long Hyeseul and Kai waited in their school, still no one came.

The sun was already setting in the distance. And Hyeseul let out a sigh as she sat near the window, slumped over the sill as she looked outside hopelessly. Almost as if she expected someone to just magically appear if she just kept staring.

"So... what are we supposed to do if no one really comes?" Kai asked, entering the room after having given the whole school another full investigation on his own.

Hyeseul didn't know what to do either, obviously. And so, as a response, she only slumped further onto the sill as she groaned.

You could almost hear all the emotions she felt in that groan. Frustration, wariness, panic... Even Kai noticed it. And he looked at her as he pursed his lips, wondering what he could really do to help.

And then...

"Ah!" A light bulb went off in Kai's head, and his face lit up, as he looked towards a still-troubled Hyeseul. "Hey, Hyeseul," he spoke, approaching her cautiously, "Since we both still don't know what happened nor do we know what to do yet... How about we take this opportunity and go check out–"

"What?" Hyeseul suddenly breathed out, cutting Kai off and making him stop and look at her in surprise. The girl ran her fingers through her hair before she turned to him, and the look in her eyes only showed just how upset she was with his words. "'Take this opportunity'? Wow! I didn't know you could take even something like this so lightly... Everyone's gone, Kai! You think this is a joke?!"

Kai fell silent. Of course, he knew that the whole situation was a serious matter. He was scared, too, but he didn't show it thinking that it would somehow help Hyeseul. But I guess, it didn't.

"Of course. Everything is clearly just a joke to you, isn't it?" Hyeseul continued on, the sarcasm in her voice not fading even one bit. "Fine, then! Go ahead! Go 'take this opportunity' to do whatever you wanna do but don't get me involved!"

With that, she left the room, passing by Kai who only remained frozen where he stood.

Now he understood why Hyeseul was upset. But he really didn't understand why it seemed like she wanted to remain that way.

Though, he thought, maybe it was better that he let her be for a while, and for him to start scouting the school for essentials in case it takes quite some time for everyone to come back.

The sun had already completely set outside, and the sky had now turned dark, scattered with the stars and the moon, shining on this city that had gone cold and silent...

Wherever it's people went.

In all seriousness, here are a few resources I think are helpful with regards to understanding just how thoroughly Henry Kissinger screwed the world over:

Kissinger by Behind the Bastards. This is a 6 part series done by the podcast Behind the Bastards, with the hosts of The Dollop on as guests. It's super funny and a very accessible foothold into understanding the scope of Kissinger's vast career.

Kissinger's Shadow by Greg Grandin. This book provides an in-depth analysis of Kissinger's tenure in the white house, covering both how he got into office, the changes he made in office, the policies he put forth, and their repercussions on the world.

ETAN's category on Kissinger. The East Timor and Indonesia action network has long been an outspoken critic of Kissinger's, and they've aggregated a lot of helpful articles here.

The Trial of Henry Kissinger by Christopher Hitchins. While Grandin's book focuses less on the specificities of Kissinger's crimes, Hitchins has no such qualms and details each of them in depth.

I truly think understanding Kissinger, the way he thought, and the things that he did, are all indispensable when it comes to understanding the modern political climate and how foreign policy works in America and therefore, by necessity, in the world at large. The sheer amount of damage he was responsible for should never be underestimated.

comes to your formal office party in a nick from zootopia furry costume WITH A FLUFFY TAIL because he misread your text and thought it was a costume party not a custom party. tries to play as fashion faux pass, not one believed that it's faux passing. he will go home and cry about it.

SOOBIN!

was caught trash talking a toddler in an arcade game like a loser after he lied to your friend that he was feeling sick and couldn't come to her birthday bash. had the audacity to fake barf later on, before going back to finish the game. didn't even let the kid win.

BEOMGYU!

started doing dougie with you when the host asked for all the couple on the dance floor. it was okay with that too until he finished his moves and then leered at you to show your moves. yeah he thought it was a couple dance off.

TAEHYUN!

began the first date by calling women "females," and light misogynist remarks because he wanted to see how you react before he could drop his intensive collection on feminist books, dw baby girl he's an ally he's just testing you. honestly you embarrassed yourself by getting angry too quickly but on the other hand, you passed the test.

HUENING KAI!

openly says Internet slangs that have expired 2 years ago to everyone, and doesn't get the hint that slangs that are okay in the Internet, like rizz king or w, doesn't translate well in real life. especially in front of your parents.
