warnings: kissing, swearing (once)
rushing through the roads of Linkon on your motorbike, your mind was cursing at you violently. time was not on your side today, you were late to work by 5 minutes, your mission pick up was late by an hour and now you're late for you hospital appointment.
that wasn't anyone fault. you did all that an hour ago but what really got you distracted was the new beverage shop that opened down the road to the Hunter Association's Building. The flavours were absolutely amazing to the point where after you got your drink, you went outside to stare at the new drinks that were in the shop.
bubble tea....blue raspberry slushy with your choice of candy...cappuccinos with a side-
you were taken out of your daze by the sound of a notification coming from your phone, at first you didn't care. it was probably one of those 'lower your volume!' messages. but your heart dropped when you noticed.
'2pm doctors appointment, Akso Hospital...' late!
2pm? 2pm...? rushing for the time again, the numbers 2:05pm reached your eyes as you jumped onto your motorbike and sped off.
normally if you were late, you wouldn't stress but still obviously apologise and give them a summary of why you were late but this wasn't just any boss, or any doctor in this case.
not any cardiologist. your husband. the same one who prepared your overloaded schedule and helped you in the morning to get up nice and early and be refreshed.
sprinting through the doors of the hospital, you made eye contact with yvonne, she sighed in relief as she quickly typed on the computer. she called you forward as she chuckled a little checking her watch before showing you the time.
"10 minutes late. oof. good luck." giving you the band around my wrist, she smoothed it but as soon as she stopped, you were lifted over someone's shoulder.
"hey!- what the fuck?!-" a hand was rested below your ass so you were firmly pressed against their body and didn't fall, but you knew who it was by the size of the hand and how high you were.
before anything could escaped your mouth, he interrupted you.
"i want an explanation as soon as we get into my room." you whined against the height, why was he so tall. but you also whined at his tone, he was strict.
"baby, come on! it's not my fault!" you practically begged him to hear you out. opening the door and making sure you didn't bump your head, he shut it behind him before throwing you onto the chair.
he went round to his desk, typing on his computer before staring at you. "a good 10 minutes late. what on earth were you doing?"
his finger went up, silently shushing you.
"and no lying either."
scoffing, you rolled your eyes, quickly apologising after he gave you a cold glare.
"listen, it wasn't my fault! there's this new coffee shop down the road and i got distracted! it's really good..?"
you knew he was already concerned about your new addiction to coffee ever since your co-worker gave you some. it's been your new favourite thing.
"but! it's actually very healthy and doesn't have much sugar? so that's nice."
he tried to hide his smile before getting your attention by standing up and telling you to come around his desk. obliging, you went around before you were pinning against the table. but he wasn't kissing you, or anything. he was doing his normal doctor duties. checking your heart beat, the pulse. your eyes.
his fingers rested on your neck as he stared at your eyes, hypnotised by the sight in front of him. his hand creeping up your hip as your leg rose to his waist. your hands touching his chest, caressing it slowly.
your lips slowly approaching each other, love in the air. your eyes closing...hands grabbing and fiddling until-
"hey zayne? i was wondering if-"
you two stared at greyson, his shocked yet chuckling face as he covered his eyes with his hand. slowly backing out of the room before rushing down the hallway to the other doctors room.
"that man!-"
about to rush after him, zayne grabbed your arm, bringing you closer and kissing your lips passionately. "remember-" your tongues shifting around the other before he let go. turning you around slightly and giving you a soft tap on your ass before laughing.
"be on time."

I woke up this morning really inspired for the first time in years and this is the result <3
It’s over much too soon. It lasted about half an hour, sweaty foreheads pressed together, breath mingling, and he didn’t think that was too bad, all things considered. You were still laying on top of him, chest pressed to his, your cheek cupped in the palm of his hand.
He was always breaking things. He remembered the day that Wayne hung all the mugs up on the wall, out of reach, the day Eddie had dropped one and slashed a deep gash into the palm of his hand trying to pick up the pieces. He’d been terrified, blindly fumbling at the shards of ceramic with tears blurring his vision. He’d had to get stitches, and now the old silvery scar was pressed against your cheek. He’d never really believed in anything, but for the first time in his life, he found himself praying, the tips of his fingers pushing into your damp hairline. Please don’t let me break her.
He could feel your heart thudding against his own, slowing back down to normality, becoming steady again. Your hooded eyes met his, and you smiled softly, kiss swollen lips pulling up at the corners, your cheek pressing further into his palm.
“Hey” you almost whispered, as if speaking at a normal volume might break some kind of trance. Your breath smelled sweet, of movie theatre popcorn and blue raspberry slush puppies. He’d leaned in to kiss you while your mouth was still ice cold, and didn’t stop until there was no trace of blue left on your lips.
“Hey” he replied, his heart swelling, the smile on his face so wide he thought it might split open. The corners of his eyes crinkled with the force of it. You leaned in to kiss him again, teeth grazing against his chapped bottom lip, and when you pulled away, you lay your head on the pillow. Your face was an inch away, and he could feel each breath you took fanning softly over his face. But that inch… that damn inch. It was enough for the tiniest sliver of doubt to weasel its way in and settle between his ribs.
Everybody Eddie brought home left with a piece of him. It was his nature to give, to lay it all out on the table, and he was usually pretty good at letting things go. He didn’t expect phone calls, or declarations of undying affection, and when people walked out of the door with a tiny piece of him clutched in their palm, he didn’t ever expect them to return it. But you. You were about to take the biggest piece yet.
“You can go. If you need to. If you’re uh… busy.” His smile wasn’t as wide, plastered onto his face like a mask.
“Do you want me to go?” Usually he’d say sure, no worries, you should probably leave anyway. But the look on your face, the unguarded sincerity with which you looked into his eyes, made his heart skip a beat. It was like someone was in his stomach swinging a bat around, and they’d just hit a home run to lodge right in his throat. He swallowed around the hard lump.
“No.” He thought he sounded like a child. He hoped his eyes weren’t welling up.
“Then i’ll stay.” You pushed a stray curl behind his ear with delicate fingertips, the gesture so fond and so unfamiliar that if eddie wasn’t on the verge of tears before, he definitely was now. As you pressed your lips to his one more time, the lump in his throat turned to honey, seeping into his blood, warming his skin, setting the hairs on his arms standing on end. As you pulled away, forehead pressed to his once again, he cupped your face once more, thumb tracing along your bottom lip.
Careful. Don’t break her. He swallowed, eyes scrunching closed, his lips catching the corner of your mouth one more time.
I love you. Don’t ever leave me. “You hungry?” he said instead.

I just read your best friends brother Steve Harrington and just wanted to say: brother’s best friend Steve Harrington. Love love the trope of having a crush on your brothers friends and it just fits so well with Steve
this !! this is golden :') i will admit, they're both lovesick for each other here, but i couldn't resist that :3
--
"Seriously?" Steve scoffs, grabbing the back of Dustin's shirt so that the boy doesn't face-plant onto the sidewalk, "You don't have to run, y'know. The store'll still be there if you walk like a normal person."
"I'm just excited to see my sister," Dustin defends, brushing Steve's hand off of the back of his collar, "And I'm not a baby, you don't need to hold my hand while we cross the street."
"Well maybe if you didn't trip over your own feet every ten seconds, I wouldn't have to!" Steve flicks the back of his head, rolling his eyes at Dustin's exaggerated ow!
They finally reach the doors to the convenience store, the smell of gasoline burning the air. It makes Steve's nose itch, and while Dustin yanks the door open eagerly to rush inside, Steve rubs at it incessantly. He knows it stains his skin red with irritation, and feels a little bit like rudolph when he finally crosses the threshold into the store.
"Dustin!" He hears a voice from behind the counter to his left, his eyes widening as it fills his ears. It's passionate, clearly affectionate towards his friend, and it's accompanied by the blur of a blue shirt, black pants on your hips as you launch yourself over the counter.
"Hi," Dustin gushes as you nearly tackle him, wrapping him up in a bear hug so tight his cheeks squish against your uniform, "We came to visit you!"
At the word we, your head snaps to the side, finding Steve very frozen and very red. Your grin doesn't falter a bit, your eyes lighting up even more, if possible, "Oh, you're Steve, right?"
Steve isn't sure where you've heard his name before, but he hopes it wasn't around school from his King Steve era. He shudders at the thought that your impression of him might be just that, and decides to remedy it as best as possible.
"Yeah, that's me." He grins sweetly at you, leaning back on the door casually, though forgetting it swings open to the outside. He stumbles backwards when he puts his weight against it, the door moving with him to nearly land him flat on his ass. He catches himself, though not without embarrassing himself first, and straightens up while you giggle.
Dustin seems less amused, "And you call me the clumsy one?"
"Shut up," Steve grumbles, avoiding your eyes as you study him, hiding in the puffy comfort his vest offers, "Do you want a slurpee or not, Dustin?"
"Oh yeah!" Dustin rushes over to the slurpee machine, grabbing the biggest cup available and beginning to layer in flavor after flavor of frozen treat, "Are you getting one too, Steve?"
Steve wrinkles his nose at Dustin's choice of pineapple on coke on blue raspberry, "No, I think your tankard is gonna cost me everything I've got."
"Don't worry about it," You wave him off, leaning back against the counter that (thankfully) doesn't move with you, "It's on the house! You're welcome to grab one, if you'd like."
You move towards the slurpee machine yourself, choosing one singular flavor, that just so happens to be Steve's favorite: cherry.
"Good choice." He compliments you, reaching for a smaller cup, "That's my favorite."
"Mine too," You hum, "So why get blue raspberry?"
Steve is far too polite to admit just yet that he filled his cup with the blue slushy so that, by some god-given miracle, if you kissed, he'd be stained purple as a reminder. He just shrugs instead, "'Dunno, felt like something different today."
You study him with a soft, confused smile, your head cocked to the side. He doesn't know what to make of it, though he feels his stomach twist pleasantly at the look in your eyes, his smile growing.
It takes your brother, as discerning as always, approximately two seconds to figure out what's going on, nearly spitting out a mouthful of his gut-churning drink, "No way! Off limits," He glares menacingly at Steve, though the boy is anything but, "You're not becoming my brother-in-law."

Media TMR AU
Character Newt
Couple Newt X Reader
Rating Sweet
Fictional Advent Day Eight
so maybe for Newt, you can make an AU story where y/n is a waitress at a restaurant and Newt comes with another girl who’s a mean girl on a date and y/n serves them but the girl that Newt is on the date with is really rude to y/n and is calling her rude names, and it gets to the point where newt gets so upset with the mean girl and yells at her and newt hangs with y/n instead. It’s just a little idea I thought was good! Take your time and happy holidays!
I rushed around like a bumble bee busy with the bustle of the malt shop, listening to the Christmas music playing gently mixed with people cluttering cutlery and crockery as well as the bell often tolling on the door as people came and went, the snow fluttering sweetly down the sky.
“Thank you so much happy holidays” a lady smiled as she and her family left the table
“Happy holidays” I smiled going to clear their little booth by the window tidying up and adding the five-dollar tip to my little Christmas-themed gingerbread house moneybox, as I started on some more coffee for those at the counter
“Hey uhh, I had a little favour to ask?’ a voice spoke up and I looked and saw a guy who had just come in, in some nice shoes that had a dusting of snow on them, some brown suit pants, a little orange t-shirt and a white button-down slipping off his large coat with a fluffy inside as well as a dark red scarf
“You can ask, I don't know what the answer will be but you can ask”
He chuckled a little “I know it's a big ask but could I take a booth?”
“Booths are normally reserved for parties of four or more you have three friends coming?”
“No, I uhh I have a first date. I know it goes against the rules but you think you could let it slide?”
“No problem, take number seven it has a lovely view over the bridge”
“Thank you”
“Your welcome, and hey if they don't look like their picture just order a blue raspberry pancake and I'll get you out of there”
“Thanks, hopefully, I won't need to” he laughed heading over to the booth setting his stuff down and fixing himself up in the reflective side of the napkin dispenser, I made a note about him and went on with my shift luckily the rush was over and things were dying down, I often passed the guy and offered him coffee or tea but he always politely declined and only got more and more nervous as time went on.
Until she arrived.
I saw her walking down the street before she even got into the shop as she pointed her nose high making it the peak of her face, sunglasses that took up almost all of her face, and nails long enough to pick a lock within some little ugg style boots, a pair of tight leggings, a long sleeve white turtle neck with a beige fluffy vest she came in and put her glasses on her head.
“Hi,” She sighed offering her hand to him, “Newt?”
“Hi, you must be Olivia.” he smiled giving her hand a kiss,
“Yeah.”
“It’s so nice to meet you, You’re just as beautiful as Minho said.” he smiled as they sat together, I gave them a while dealing with some other things before I finally went over
“Hi, how are you two doing today?”
“Uhh excuse me, can we get a male waiter.” She snapped at me
“Uhh we don’t have any male waiters”
“Fine. Whatever” She sighed
“Okay… What can I get started for you, Coffee? Tea? Hot Chocolate?”
“Eehhh just water. In a clean glass.” She snapped
“Sure” I nodded
“I’ll have a hot chocolate,” He smiled
“No problem, whipped cream?”
“Absolutely,”
“Candy cane?”
“Yeah that sounds nice”
“Excellent, I’ll be back with those feel to look at the menu for food” I smiled
“Okay we get it bye,” she said angrily
So I just headed off and got her water and his hot chocolate and I took them over “Here we are” I smiled setting them down “You ready to order?”
“Uhh ohh my god! Will you stop jumping down our throats? How on earth would anyone be ready to order already it’s been two seconds”
“It’s been five minutes miss.”
“Are you talking back to me you chubby slop girl?”
“That is incredibly rude. She was just asking” He spoke up
“I’m not taking advice from someone who still eats sugar. That thing is like six suggested servings yeah no thank you.” She snapped
“I’ll give you another minute” I nodded heading away for a moment but before I even got to the counter she clicked her fingers at me
“Hey! Hey! Slop girl! Aren’t you going to take my order?”
“Yes Miss” I nodded as I headed back over
“Do you have anything that actually observes serving sizes?”
“Our plates are all designed for one person, unless they are specifically in the sharing or extra large section of the menu”
“So no. Fine. I will take a lobster and a salad”
“Miss… we don’t have that on the menu”
“I know I’m not stupid. But I want lobster.”
“We don’t have lobster here miss… we mostly just make pancakes, fries, burgers that sort of thing”
“Uhhhh clean my table again slop girl there must be carbs all over the table” she complained
“That is really rude, your are being insanely disrespectful. You choose for us to come here ” he said
“Maybe I’d be nicer if this slop girl could actually use her brain!” she yelled “Give me a side salad”
“One side salad” I sighed “You sir?”
“I won’t be ordering anything I’m sorry,” he said “I cannot go through with this I’m sorry”
“Aren't you gonna pay for my food?”
“No.”
“Ughhh!” She whined grabbing her stuff and marching out in a huff
“I am so so sorry”
“It’s okay, trust me you hear worse in this job” I answered “Could I get you a slice of cranberry pie? Ice cream on the side?”
“Yeah that would be really nice” he smiled
After a while, he came and moved to the counter and we chatted as I worked for a good while doing my best to cheer him up even giving him a free hot chocolate, and after a while he happily paid
“Thanks so much for everything”
“It's no trouble, Happy holidays”
“Happy holidays” he smiled before he headed out, I gathered up his stuff, and found out he had left a hundred-dollar tip and a note ‘I’m so sorry about her, and thank you so much for cheering me up. If you like I’d love to take you out for dinner one day your not working X Newt’ and then his number I chuckled a little and put it in my pocket so I could text him when I get off my shift.

All The Sonic Cafe Foods
Because I can’t find a concrete source that lists every single food from the Sonic 25th Anniversary Cafe, I’m going to list all the foods I can find here (And talk about them a bit I guess)
Tumblr media
Sonic Chili Dog
I don’t like hot dogs or chili but it looks decent, and the onion rings with the leafy greens seem pretty nice
Tumblr media
Shadow Burger
Not going to lie I would genuinely eat this. The black bun looks a bit weird but I love burgers, and it would be really funny to eat a slice of cheese that has a render of Shadow printed on it
Tumblr media
Eggman Takoyaki
This looks really good, it’s probably one of the most appetizing things on the menu. I’ve never had Takoyaki before, but it looks sooo good here, so I’m sure I would love it
Tumblr media
Imagawa-yaki
This is basically just a pancake filled with sweet red bean paste, which sounds pretty good. I also really like the illustrations on them, they look very nice
Tumblr media
Classic Team Sonic Pancakes
This is a pretty good one, it’s three pancakes that have Team Sonic printed on them with maple syrup, butter, and I think cream with raspberry? It’s pretty simple, but still good
Tumblr media
Sundae Supreme
This is definitely the best item on the entire menu. This looks soooo good. If I had amnesia and didn’t remember my name, I would name myself after this too, because it looks amazing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Triple S Cafe Drinks
Sonic’s drink is a latte, Shadow’s drink is cocoa, and Silver’s drink is mocha. I don’t drink cafe drinks, but apparently a mocha is a chocolate drink, so that sounds pretty nice
Tumblr media
Tails’ Hot Lemonade
I’ve never heard of hot lemonade before, but it probably isn’t as good as cold lemonade. I would try it at least once though, because it does sound interesting
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amy, Knuckles, And Chao Sodas
Amy’s soda is peach flavored (The description also says that if you drink it, your girl power will improve and you might become like Amy, so I suppose they put estrogen in the soda), Knuckles’ soda is strawberry flavored, and the Chao soda didn’t have a flavor listed so I’m guessing it’s just blue flavored. All these sodas also look like they have a scoop of vanilla ice cream in them, which is a nice extra
Tumblr media
Eggman Omurice
This looks a tiny bit gross because of the sauce, but honestly it doesn’t seem that bad. I like eggs and rice, so I would probably enjoy this if I got it. The veggies are a bit random though, they could have just done bell peppers and it would have gone with the eggs and rice better
Tumblr media
Another Chili Dog
This looks like a different dish from the one at the top of this list, and it looks a bit better than it too. The sign is a nice touch, the onion rings look more normal, and there’s more veggies on the side
Tumblr media
Shadow Curry
Like the omurice, this looks a bit weird, but I would eat it if I was given the opportunity since curry and rice is delicious. Once again though, the veggies are just kind of random, although they do have a bell pepper this time around (Or it could be a weirdly shaped tomato wedge). They also have what looks like fried... something, I genuinely cannot tell in the slightest. Also they should have made Blaze Curry instead, it would’ve been more fitting
Tumblr media
Tails Carbonara
Okay, this one is a little bit unappetizing even to me. Just a little bit though. It’s entirely because of the slice of cheese they printed Tails on, cheese on pasta is nice, but an uncut slice of it draped over wet noodles and sauce is not. I would still eat this though, maybe because my standards for food are low
Tumblr media
Green Hill Roll Cake
This one looks nice, it’s chocolate cake with green frosting and some sort of cream filling, as well as a few pieces of assorted fruit. I’m not much of a fruit person, but this still looks tasty
Tumblr media
Amy’s Homemade Pink Cake
This is probably the best looking desert (Aside from the Sundae Supreme of course), I can’t tell precisely what all of it would taste like just from looking at it, but I’m sure it would be enjoyable
Tumblr media
Tails’ Lab Experiment Solution
This looks like another soda, although I can’t really tell what flavor it is by looking at it, if I had to guess I’d say it’s orange. I also don’t know what’s up with the stuff in the cup. I think I vaguely remember having sugar crystals at a restaurant one time that looked like these and fizzed in my mouth, so maybe you’re supposed to add those things to the soda to make it extra fizzy/sweet?
Tumblr media
Silver’s ESP Soda
I really want to drink this one. It looks like it’s made up of clear soda, blue sorbet (Which I almost mistook for cotton candy the first time I saw this image because it looks so light) and green jello just kind of sitting there at the bottom. I don’t know what you’re supposed to do with it, maybe slurp it up like boba? Or just eat it once you’ve drank all the soda, I guess
Tumblr media
Sticks’ Jungle Juice
Another soda drink with ice cream! I don’t know what flavor this is for sure, but based on the fact that it’s orange and it was described as wild and tropical, I’m going to say it’s mango soda. No clue what the icre cream is, but I do love the little boomerang that’s stuck into it
Tumblr media
Knuckles’ Power Drink
Knuckles gets two drinks, and this one is basically a red slurpee with vanilla ice cream, which actually sounds really nice. It’s probably cherry flavor, although it could be strawberry or even watermelon
Tumblr media
Sonic Latte
Not much to say about this one, it’s just a latte with Classic Sonic’s face on it
Tumblr media
Infinite’s Jello Dessert
This one looks tasty, mostly because of its great presentation. I’m not sure what flavor the jello inside or outside the cup is, but I’m going to go with strawberry and bitter cherry respectively. It also looks like there’s some whipped cream in addition to the fruit and mint sprig (I think? It could be something else but it’s probably mint), which would all pair nicely with fruit jello
Tumblr media
Knuckles Boba
That’s right, Knuckles has ANOTHER drink. He has three drinks. The site that I’m using for this last series of images (Which started with the Infinite Jello Dessert) doesn’t have any descriptions, so I just have to guess from here on out. I really have no clue what the drink could be, and even less clue on what the boba taste like since I’ve never had boba before. My best guess for the drink is peach flavored soda or possibly sweet tea, but I’m completely stumped on the boba pearls
Tumblr media
Eggman Scotch Eggs
This one doesn’t look too bad (Except for the watery and slimy looking meat sauce), the eggs, meat, and casing all look pretty nice. Even as I was typing this, I thought the mark on the right egg was some seaweed or something, but I just realized that it’s the Eggman Empire logo. I may be stupid. Anyways, I still don’t get why they put broccoli and cauliflower with all of Eggman’s meals. Broccoli does not go with scotch eggs, or eggs in general
Tumblr media
Cat Rookie Drink
This is one of the best looking drinks, it looks super appealing. The drink itself looks like strawberry milk with ice, and you also get whipped cream and sprinkles to go with it. This is definitely an extremely sweet drink, which I really like
Tumblr media
Bird Rookie Drink
This one also looks really good, entirely due to its neon green coloring that looks straight out of Shadow’s tube. We have a clearer view of the sugar crystals that went with Tails’ drink, which fit this drink pretty well, since making it even fizzier adds to its forbidden science liquid vibe. I think there could be boba pearls or something like that at the bottom, but it’s hard to tell, and I have no clue what they would taste like if they actually are there
Tumblr media
Shadow’s Root Beer Float
This is a super good drink, it’s a root beer float with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and two cherries. I guess it could be coke, but it’s way more likely than it’s root beer. It doesn’t have much to do with Shadow, the last drink probably would have fit him better since it looks like the liquid he was birthed in, but now that I think about it Shadow probably would enjoy a good root beer float
Tumblr media
Chaos’ Soda
Now this is a drink! It’s so blue and refreshing looking, I want to slurp this up right now. I don’t know for sure what it’s flavored like, probably blue raspberry, but I know it has to taste amazing based on how good it looks
Tumblr media
Classic Sonic’s Boba Drink
This one is also a delicious looking cool blue that makes me want to down the whole glass, but like the battery acid/Shadow’s nutrient fluid drink, it has some mystery boba pearls (I think?) in it too. Like I said last time, I have no clue what these would taste like, but they can’t be that bad if they’re soaking in such a pretty liquid
Tumblr media
Sonic’s... Something
I’m going to level with you, I do not know what this is. It just looks like a patty of rice with onion rings, veggies, and a cutout of Sonic on it. Maybe that’s what it actually is. Honestly that wouldn’t be too bad since rice and onion rings are tasty, but it would be a very strange dish to serve if that’s really it, which is why I think I’m missing something here. Let me know what you think this is if you have any theories
Tumblr media
Tails’ Udon
This looks gross and tasty at the same time. I love udon noodles, and the chives really add to it, but the omelette looks very soggy and wet, which is gross. At least, I think that’s an omelette. It could be fried meat or something, which would make this dish really good, since fried meat and noodles are a killer combo. Also, carrot stars. I didn’t mention them on any of the foods before because they were just a little garnish, but they’re cool! I wouldn’t eat them with the dish though, carrot wouldn’t go well with most of the dishes I’ve listed
Tumblr media
Gadget’s Pancakes
This is a great pancake meal, it puts the one with Team Sonic on it to shame. There’s two pancakes (One with Gadget printed on it), maple syrup, sprinkles, whipped cream, fruit and mint, and a chocolate pen thingy. I think the chocolate pen thingy either has chocolate liquid in it or is meant to be broken up and put onto the pancake like chocolate chips. Either way, this is a spectacular desert/breakfast, and I really wish I could try it
And with that, we’re done! I suppose there could be foods out there that I missed, considering I had to scour several unofficial sources to find all this, but I’m pretty sure I got them all. If you got this far, thanks for reading! I’m glad you liked it, because typing all this hurt my finger

Sour Blue Raspberry ~ Dami
A/N: Hi guys, girls, and non-binary pearls! I hope your week was good. 🥰
TW: No context is given, so use your imagination, angst, betrayal, sad vibes
♡ Masterlist ♡ 》》》 Prompt List
Tumblr media
A Blue Raspberry Slushie is a memory of berries that were picked on a sweet spring day. The sweet aroma of the berries that have yet to be picked, along with the sour scent of the squished berries that lay on the ground, mix and match to make an overwhelming scent that is sure to delight.
You squish the berries under your feet as you continue to run deeper and deeper into the forest. Although this was normally a place of safety and sweet memories, you find yourself trying to run away from something much darker than you had ever imagined.
You can't imagine how your face looked to Dami when she had told you what she had done.
"I'm so, so sorry, Y/N, they forced my hand and I-"
"You couldn't have lied for once?!?!"
Although you appreciated her honesty at times, this was no place for the truth to be revealed.
"How can I make it up to you, my love? I-"
"No, Dami, you can't. I can't be here anymore. If they find me, they'll kill me. Do you understand what you've done now?"
"I-" She pauses as she hears bushes rustle.
You step back as your eyes widen in fear.
"I hope you're happy with your choice." You say before you turn and run far, far away from here.
Another berry is squished as you continue to run. Your head is still spinning, both from Dami's betrayal and the amount of pressure you're putting on your body. If you just stop for a moment to catch your breath, you can
No.
No, it's not an option. You remind yourself that if you stop, that's it. You're done for. You'll never see the light of day again. You have to keep running, over and over, until your legs give out.
And it's all because the person you loved couldn't keep her mouth shut.
Oh, the irony has yet to dawn on me, I'm sure of it…

First-person pov
It was just a simple day, both Billy and I were just lying around without a care for a world. Both escaping the things that we didn't like in our lives. No matter what was bringing us down, we had each other and I guess that's all that matters.
Billy and I were facing each other as we cuddled, he traced patterns across my face, while I kept my arms wrapped around his waist. Normally an unspoken word was shared between us, I think with us anyways that more was said when we weren't chatting. We were both loving the silence but I think even at times it got to be too much.
I moved my arms to get more comfortable, and my fingers trailed across his ribs, he tensed slightly, a smile forming on his lips at the little action but he quickly had to hide it so I wouldn't catch on to what he was doing.
"Are you ticklish?"
"No, I'm not."
"Yes! You totally are!" I quickly started tickling him, laughing as he squirmed away and tried getting me away from him. I tickled him, gaining the upper hand as he fell into a laughing fit, laughing with me and squealed as he flipped me onto the mattress and started tickling me. I laughed way too much, to the point where it started hurting to laugh, he stopped for a moment and laughed out loud as I tackled him to continue tickling him.
"You suck!"
"But you love me," I whispered, stopped tickling him and giggled as he pulled me closer to him and placed a kiss on my lips. I hummed as he continued to hold me, I stared into those pretty eyes that he had and fiddled with the ringlets of his mullet.
"I do love you." He whispered back, whispering the simple three words a few times before each kiss that he placed on my face.
"You're ticklish." I teased, giggling as he shoved me away slightly, rolling his eyes and holding both my hands in one of his so I couldn't continue to tease him.
"You're evil, so evil, I'm going to get you back for this."
"Sure, you are." I challenged him, and he accepted it and repositioned me in his lap. Started blowing raspberries on my belly, he kept me against his lap and didn't let me go. He relaxed slightly, staring at me and laid down beside me.
"You keep surprising me, Billy."
"I do?"
"Yeah, I mean, who knew that this bad boy act is a softie and one that's ticklish? I got lucky, you love me and you keep me safe. You're the first person that's loved me, Billy." He gave me that boyish smile that many had known him for and kissed my lips.
"All the other guys are stupid, they missed out and now you're the girl I want to be with forever. I'm the guy that has got the sweetest girl in my arms, I'm the guy that has a girl that is gorgeous and she doesn't know it. I'm the guy that's ticklish and has the type of girlfriend that will make fun of that but I love it."

thanks to random conversation i had with a friend, i now have solidified hc’s on what different star wars characters would drink. so now you have to get to hear it!
Obi-Wan loves tea, absolutely loves it. But he relies on caf for the higher caffeine content, so he ends up drinking a lot more caf than tea. he also drinks a lot of alcohol bc his life is hell.
Cody likes black caf. Actually likes it. No one understands it. On the flip side, he actually hates tea.
Anakin likes caf, but he puts so much cream and sugar that it no longer tastes like caf. Rex hates how he does it.
Rex himself likes caf (when it actually tastes like caf) but like, a normal amount. just something you drink in the morning to wake you up, with the added bonus of tasting good.
Ahsoka loves fruity drinks cause she’s fruity too, especially anything blue raspberry or space-strawberry. she makes a great banana-strawberry smoothie.
Echo and Fives will take anything sugary they can get their hands on. most of the troopers will, actually, since they get it so rarely.
Hunter really likes spicy things, which is difficult because of his enhanced senses. Everything is really strong. So he drinks a lot of those chamoy and tajin things that were really popular for a while. (he also drinks green smoothies. with kale. never says a word about how much he hates them, never says anything when people comment. he makes sure his batch mates never see his grimace after he downs one.)
Crosshair drinks black caf, but only because he thinks it makes him look cool. he actually really hates it and if given the opportunity will get a white-girl-on-a-diet-in-fall level complicated starbucks drink with extra whipped cream and caramel sauce.
Tech usually just does water, but occasionally he’ll get an iced caf, then forget about it for 6 hours and have to drink it at normal temp.
Wrecker and Omega just get the pinkest and sparkliest thing they can find.

Wake Up Captain! (Mack iswm/The Captain (reader)
They are in love!!! A short and sweet little Mack drabble of him reluctantly tucking the captain into bed.
~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~
The captain was slumped over in a chair in the control room. It was late at night and a single light was on, illuminating their stack of papers and random equipment. Mark was passed out on the floor, a bag of sour candy in his hand, and a stream of blue drool falling down his cheek.
It was one of those nights that the Captain and the Head Engineer hopped themselves up on sugar to stay awake.
It didn’t work.
The captain had dozed off just minutes ago, but after sitting in that chair for hours, they were hard asleep in no time.
Quick traveling footsteps could be heard approaching from the hall.
“Captain, I have a request for the-” Mack stopped in his tracks.
His hands slowly fell to his sides in disappointment.
He bent down to pick up an empty bag of candy from the floor.
“Slobs,” he scoffed, his mouth twitching in that horribly bothered way it always did when he was positively disgusted by the buffoonery going on around him.
Because he was so much better. The captain kind of despised that about Mack, he had such a stick up his ass, and always had so much to say. Judging and peering over people's shoulders. Not to mention how manipulative he was. If there was one thing they were dreaming about in their sweets induced coma, it was Mack being pleasant for once.
“It’s time to wake up Captain,” he called out in a sarcastic tone, sighing as he walked over in his methodical pace.
When the captain didn’t respond, he nudged their shoulder.
“Captain?”
Not even a flinch.
I should wake them, he thought.
But for some reason, he didn’t.
His eyes traced over the papers on the captain's desk, notes and blueprints with barely legible writing scribbled all over them consumed page after page.
All Mack knew was the captain was tired. And he'd be lying if he said he didn’t know how that felt.
Then again, Mack usually lied about how he felt.
He gave them one last nudge for good measure, and still, nothing.
Mack braced himself, pulling down his gloves extra tight, and straightening his belt, before he knealed down and lifted the captain from under their arms.
Slowly and steadily, Mack began to carry the captain, his hold as light and as gentle as he could muster.
Every instinct that he had was telling him that he should not be doing this. But there was an aching feeling in his stomach that told him he should.
Imagining what it would look like if someone walked in right now and saw him holding the captain bridal style while Mark lay unconscious on the floor was a thought that almost made him chuckle.
Then he’d really look like a maniac. Though he always denied it, Mack was a little closer to killing his peers than most were comfortable with.
The captain smelled like blue raspberry, and upon further inspection, it was because of the blue stains on their lips from the candy.
Mack suddenly became hyper aware of just how close the captains face was to his own, and he shivered. He was just thankful they were asleep.
Mack made his way quietly out of the control room, walking past locked crew members doors, all of them supposedly dead asleep as well. He reckoned it wasn’t actually normal to be up and functioning this late, but to him, it was. He didn’t sleep very often, maybe 3, 4 hours every night. An amount he was sure would upset the captain if he told them. He usually kept those things to himself.
With each step he took, the captain's weight felt more and more comfortable in his arms, and with great surprise, it seemed they were becoming comfortable as well. A single hand wrapped around Mack's neck and clung onto the back of his uniform.
Mack tensed up. Looking down, he prayed they hadn’t woken up, but when he did, they were still sound asleep.
He sighed in relief. The last thing he wanted was to make the captain uncomfortable if they woke up. That kind of confrontation might have made him explode out of embarrassment.
Simply at the thought of such a thing, Mack was surprised to find that he was blushing. Like, really blushing. His whole head was hot, his ears and neck red as a tomato. He frowned.
Please please don’t wake up.
He never begged, but in this case, he was willing to.
Making it to the captain's quarters was easier said than done, as he had to bend down to unlock their door, nearly dropping them in the process. He really needed to work on his core strength.
He slid through the doorway and went to lay the captain down on their ‘cosmic couch’, as Mark and the rest of the crew liked to call it. Mack had always heard about it in conversation, but had never actually seen it. He was surprised to see that it was a completely normal piece of furniture that had the occasional planet printed on it.
“How dumb,” he half whispered, forgetting that he had a literal unconscious human being in his arms.
He gingerly laid the captain to rest, throwing a blanket over their body and awkwardly patting their shoulder before he turned to leave.
A drop of sweat fell down his forehead.
Stop being so nervous.
He was leaving now, as quickly and as professionally as he could, though the circumstances didn’t call for it at all. He was almost out the door before-
“Thanks Mack,”
The voice behind him was quiet and drowsy, he froze.
His mouth slightly agape, he almost dared to look behind him, before he swallowed, cleared his throat, and quickly left and shut the door behind him.
Safe to say, the captain was definitely awake now.

another one! 📽 📽
imagine it’s summer and it’s hot and the sun is so toasty on your skin and steve feels restless and spontaneous so he suggests you go on a drive so you pack some driving snacks and hit the road. it somehow ends with you and steve at lovers lake (or a less traumatic lake for him poor lad lol) and y’all go for a dip, in your underwear or maybe, ya know, a lil skinny dipping shenanigans are in your future 😉 *in the summertime by mungo jerry plays*
okay ily ruby have fun and again congrats girl!!! xoxo
mmmmm we all deserve summertime steve for fuckin real obsessed with the vibes you have created in the studio today maddie ur brain so delicio 🌊 yet again, i cannot shut up for the life of me <3 i want to go swchimming w him so bad fr he’s such a summer bf
it’ll have been one of those sweltering nights where even the sheets feel too much and come morning, not one ounce of you wants to stay in bed and cuddle like you normally do because it’s stinkin’ hot and you’re fairly certain steve is already sweating lightly just pressed next to you— you tell him as much when he tries to sleepily cuddle you in closer, giving him a pout and a “s’too warm, stevie :(“ and steve can’t even disagree, he’s burning up in the heat of the sun through your windows - but there’s also a glimpse of blue blue sky stretching out endlessly, which means opportunity !
so he flops back, relents the space and stares at the ceiling while u stare at him, just observing him lovingly, counting every mole <3 he takes a minute of quiet contemplation, during which your back manages to get completely heated, pressed against the mattress, and you’re bout to complain bout it again when he blows a raspberry and turns his head to face you. “d’ya wanna go for a drive? :) nd maybe a swim?” and god, if that doesn’t sound like heaven- you’re nodding along before you even open your mouth but also, u gotta check in with him “you sure ya wanna swim, stevie?” and his eyes search your face for a moment, thinking about it properly, before he nods, a grateful smile pulling at his lips, “yeah, honey, we’ll drive outta hawkins to find a good spot- sound okay?”
overtop your swimsuit, you pick a nice pair of daisy-dukes that definitely catch steve’s eye for an extra second and you grin, having to shoo him into getting ready— and you meet him down in his car, rolling the windows down to combat the sun that’s letting out blistering hot heatwaves, making u long for a popsicle or anything icy really. steve’s out a couple minutes later, two towels over his shoulders and a— you sit up a bit straighter, spotting the picnic basket in his hands!!! he calls forward as he opens the trunk to put stuff in, “i thought we could have some snacks! make a lil picnic date of it!” and you chest bursts with warmth and love for him and you literally can’t say anything except, “you’re sorta incredible, steve harrington” and it’s just the thing to say to get that flushed colour on his cheeks that has nothing to do with the heat and all to do with what you do to him.
driving along, you desperately wish you had a camera if only to capture the image of steve beside you, windows down, the breeze ruffling his hair and the collar of his shirt which is unbuttoned dangerously low. you can see the thatch of chest hair against his tan chest, his collarbones that are honestly begging for a lovebite or maybe ten, those classic cool glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose. you’re fairly certain you could look at him like this for hours- and he seems to return the sentiment fully, spending the drive torn between glancing at you in the passenger seat — one hand curled over your thigh, fingers drumming, and a happy grin on his face — and his eyes on the open road that takes you out of hawkins. the warm wind whips in through the windows and blankets you both in the glow of summer :)
steve ends up finding a nice swimming hole, 20 minutes out of hawkins, that’s part of one big river winding through the countryside. it’s busy, people swarming around the water like ants to honey, but that’s to be expected in the the heat of summer. you nd steve both instinctively steer clear of the crowd, wandering further up stream to see if you can find a sweet lil bay for just the two of you— and you manage to find another sweet lil spot that’s empty besides from you two and steve declares himself king of the beach, planting the picnic basket like a flag.
the heat is infinitely worse out of the car, without any wind to cool you off, and the trickling sounds of the river might be your greatest temptation, besides your boyfriend who’s wasted no time in tugging his shirt up and over his head. the sight of him in just those small swimming shorts, tan hairy thighs on display, might just rival the river for your attention. the water in the river moves about sluggishly, swirling around itself in a syrupy motion, and you know it’s about to be the best cool off of your life- you follow steve’s motions and shed off your shorts and shirt in record speed
steve’s already waiting for you in the shallows, water sloshing around his ankles noisily, and looking back at you he can’t resist the urge to let a little whistle when you drop your shorts — it earns him an endeared eye-roll that only makes his grin a little wider, his hand planting on his hips, “just enjoying the view, don’t mind me” so you take that as your cue to take off, feet splashing in the shallow water and you’re diving in without a moments hesitation— it’s freezing and the sensation of it zings every nerve til you’re unable to do anything but grin and curse when you come up because fuck, it’s cold. it’s fantastically cold.
steve’s still waiting in the shallows, that familiar smitten expression on his face as he watches you gasp at the temperature change and push back your soaked hair from your face, spin to look for him and grin wider when he comes into view. you paddle back in his direction, shaking off the droplets that collect at your chin. your feet find the bottom of the riverbed and you stand, against the push of the river, and hold out your hands for him, trying to coax him in to join you in the deeper parts of the river. because you know, it’s always a bit hard after everything, entering water again — you can still see the twisted up skin that stretches up his sides, faded with time, but a memory etched into his skin all the same.
steve takes a step out towards you, then another, then pauses and his eyes scour the water all around you— his expression already falling away to concern. you can sense his mothering sense rising up and try to quell it before he can voice any anxieties, “eyes on me, stevie” you say, with a wry grin and make grabby hands at him, encouraging him more- you can see the quick inhale he does before he pushes forward, eyes focused on you, your loving grin, your inviting hands, and he doesn’t stop til he can grab them with his own. you’re pushing off the riverbed instantly, legs up and around his waist and shifting so your hands circle around his neck, sweet murmurs about how you’re proud of him til steve is warm enough in the face that he simply has to dunk to both of you, his mischievous grin giving you warning just a second too late
you’re gasping, coughing just a bit when he pulls you both back up and you smack him in the chest— “you bastard! you- i can’t believe you—“ and when he sinks his knees a little deeper, you change your tone quick, clambering closer to him, “don’t you dare, steve, i swear, if you want remain in a loving relationship you will—” “gimme a kiss,” he interrupts and your head snaps from watching the cool water swirl around you to his face and he’s grinning, completely serious, his hands on your waist pulling you closer til he’s nosing along the damp plane of your neck, mumbling into it “kiss or get dunked. that’s the deal, sweetheart,” and then he presses a hot kiss under your jaw and pulls back to wait for you to make a decision. you sigh real heavy like it’s a chore, hanging your head back as you pretend to think about it with a loud “hmmmm” til you’re about sure he’s gonna dunk you again. your thighs tighten and you pull yourself up with your grip around his neck and give him exactly what he asked for :) then u guys eat ur picnic and it’s the perfect lil summertime date :) this is too long my god

So against my better judgement, I made a seventh wave of characters.
Tumblr media
Daniel, the Cardinal Drewman
Serena’s big brother; they have a whole Dipper and Mabel thing going on
The unofficial leader of his little section of ICT, but he still answers to Violet
Usually pretty chill, kind of a slacker, but forces himself to act responsibly for Serena’s sake
Visually inspired by Scott Pilgrim (more obvious with his default expression)
Very emotional; surprisingly easy to convince to do anything (I broke my alphabetical order there)
Has it bad for Fern. Doesn’t even bother denying it at this point
Astonishingly good at puzzles and problem solving when his mind is in the right place
Serena, the Canary Drewman
Daniel’s little sister, but you could’ve probably guessed that
Think Kitty from The Ridonculous Race
Daniel’s main reason for getting up in the morning
Naturally curious. An amateur sleuth (read: professional busybody)
Lover of animals. Bonds with Cedric over this
Deliberately plays up her childish attitude to piss off Danny
Tries to set Daniel up with Fern upon realizing he’s madly in love with her. Starting to regret this choice
Damon, the Denim Drewman
Danny’s buddy
A mischievous, lackadaisical “bad boy” type. Immediately clashes with Lloyd, who thinks he’s a poser.
Definitely channeling Marshall Lee in his design and mannerisms
A lot more malicious in his jokes to differentiate him from Noah from a few seasons back
Nowhere near as confident as he’d like you to think
One of very few characters to have a car
Despite his obsession with keeping up his reputation, he can’t bear to keep up his “arrogant douche” act in front of the others
Wade, the Sea Green Drewman
Big fun personified
Not stupid, but highly uncoordinated and spacey
Basically just Total Drama’s Owen
Deceptively acrobatic. Used to take water aerobics
Learned to fish at a very young age. Can only cook seafood
Always seems to attract the lunatics; Bobbie, Geneva, Kirby, Mark, etc. adore him
No relation to Izumi (seafoam), Shawn (ocean blue), Walter (aqua), or Marina (aquamarine) despite their similar color themes.
Judy, the Raspberry Drewman
The trickiest one
Generally benevolent, but a master at deception and manipulation
Ms. Chalice in Numbuh Five’s body
Her eyes are her only tell, so she covers them completely
Makes sure to steer clear of resident aura reader Lyman
Very little of what she says isn’t wrapped in a layer of irony
Each of those dreadlocks are so tightly packed they can dislocate bones
Tumblr media
Ash, the Ash Gray Drewman
Chill and introverted
Music flows through those veins
Stoned? Who knows
Some random he/they ICT picked off the street
Vaguely inspired by Monster Prom’s Sawyer
Gentle giant
Functions on the exact same wavelength as the likes of J. and Geneva despite being far calmer
Fern, the Fern Green Drewman
On the border between goth and hippie
Simply along for the ride. Everything’s just for her own amusement
Seems nice but increasingly turns out to be as conniving and rascally as Judy is. Tends to come off as a lot meaner than she wants to
Fully knows Daniel has a crush on her. She genuinely likes him, she just wants to see how many times he can make a fool of himself
The latest in a long line of potential lovers Serena tried to set Daniel up with, but she resents Fern for playing with his emotions. That said, she and her are more alike than they’d like to admit
Trixie, normally a bigger prankster than Fern herself, is terrified of her for reasons she refuses to get into
Genuinely friends with Mable despite what everything would suggest. After all, Fern doesn’t derive enjoyment from physical suffering
Mable, the Maple Brown Drewman
A massive klutz. She blames her disproportionately long legs
She has dozens of those bear hoodies
Covered in bandaids under her hoodie
Major Finberly vibes
Way too eager to help a friend out. Given her bumbling nature, it never goes well
Needless to say, she’s the season’s pain magnet
Absolute moron. I love her
Tumblr media
Nestor and Gene, the Eggshell/Eggplant Drewmans
NEEEERDS
The two are inseparable. They’re collectively known as the Eggheads
Nestor’s the geekier, more pop cultured of the two and is a master of terrible puns. Gene’s more book smart and acerbic.
Don’s reading buddies
Seriously, just get together already
They collect fancy novelty neckties
Quite vindictive when they feel they’ve been wronged
Hazel, the Hazel Drewman
A sorceress in training
The only non-animal Drewman with a nose
Specializes in restoration and nature magic
Her powers are fairy based. She suitably has a whimsical personality to go with it
Idolizes Rodney, a stage magician, despite her knowing actual magic
Nary a thought between those nonexistent ears
Shares Brody’s merrily bloodthirsty demeanor, but in the opposite direction
Celeste, the Celeste Drewman
Athletic, tough, and commandeering
Kind of a bully. While she’s definitely strong enough to make her case, very few people take her all that seriously
Immediately clashes with Buffy and Cameron, thinking they’re ripping off her style
Goal oriented, but not to a detrimental extent
Deliberately affects her more aggressive persona because she feels that’s how you get by in life
She doesn’t bother acting mean towards people she doesn’t regard as a threat
Wouldn’t be working for ICT if she didn’t need to
Ginger, the Ginger Drewman
Her hair actually is on fire 24/7. It’s just that nobody cares
Bobbie’s evil counterpart. While Bobbie’s just hyperactive and vicious, Ginger causes destruction for the heck of it. The two naturally get along swimmingly
Disturbingly cunning and calculating
Her energy levels aren’t all that high. She’s pretty calm and personable if you catch her in the afternoon
My sister says her eyebrows and cap look like a duck together and it’s REALLY THROWING ME OFF
Will make you die if you make a “soulless ginger” joke in her vicinity
She likes higher positions, namely atop other people’s shoulders
Tumblr media
Alphonso, the Mango Drewman
Lovable quarterback
Has an underserved reputation for idiocy due to his sunny disposition
Ridiculously wholesome and encouraging, but not in a sickening way
Could gouge one’s eyes out with a well placed slap to the jaw were he a lesser being and gave into his rage
He’s not faking it. He’s just that infectiously happy
He usually respects people’s negative emotions. The issues usually derive from his…odd thought processes
His yellow eyes twist everything he sees into a sunshiny equivalent
Muffet, the Blueberry Drewman
The Eeyore
Her sullen face doesn’t always indicate depression or sadness, but she can unintentionally bring down the mood with her presence
She is rather quick to break into tears, though
Likes to be alone with her thoughts
Has a surprising flair for the dramatic
Really into flowers and gardening in her down time
It actually doesn’t take much to make her smile. That’s just her resting face
Peter, the Pewter Drewman
A squeaky clean neat freak
Polite, but doesn’t mince his words
Not great at detecting sarcasm
Loud and dramatic about relatively mundane things
Seems like one of the saner cast mates, but he’s actually very openly unhinged
That being said, he’s probably the best at avoiding actual trouble
The Von Nillions all owe him obscene amounts in damages. He’s uncharacteristically cool about it

The Magician- A Short Story
Synopsis: Even in the darkest of times, a magician has one job, to bring a smile to children's faces.
This story is part of A Different Universe, taking place in the Era of Darkness.
Even with hours to think, I still could not understand why I was on this train. Crammed to the brim with frightened individuals, there was barely any room to stand, and most definitely no room to sit. The chorus of coughing and sobbing pierced my ears, causing my dread to flurry.
There was no consistency between the people surrounding me. Some were children, some were my age, and some were elderly. The enforcers had thrown me into this train with barely any words spoken, despite my repeated pleas for them to explain why I was being detained.
"You know exactly why, jackass," the one locking his arms around me said.
I had begged, pleaded with him, but to no avail. It was as if he wasn't even human. He sure as hell couldn't see me as one.
In fact, no one on this train had the stereotypical appearance of a criminal. Everyone looked perfectly normal.
Having no way to tell how long the journey would take, I decided to continue spending the time reflecting on what could have possibly gotten me here.
I had been running my cart outside Penn Station, as I did every day. Everyone sold coffee or halal food. Balloons and magic tricks for children, however, I had a monopoly on.
I had always loved magic since I was a child. I was particularly good at it, even hosting my own stage shows in my teen years. But when my father and older brother passed in a factory accident, I needed to support my mother. No more magic for me.
I found myself spending 12 of every 24 hours on that same factory floor, assembling weapons for the Global Triad of Peace's seemingly endless wars. First it was the Shadowlanders, now it's Black Swan. Next year it will be another group, so on and so forth. They'll never stop; they're too hungry.
After countless years on that factory floor, I had saved enough to open my cart. All of my coworkers told me I would be back before I knew it; I had to prove them wrong. With the way the world is now, children need magic more than ever.
The only thing that made this particular day unique was the passing herds of people being forced down into Penn Station by enforcers. I wondered what was going on, and even asked some bystanders, but nobody knew. Becoming part of that crowd is how I least expected my day to turn out.
I saw a young mother and her daughter, hand in hand, making their way down the bustling street toward the station. The mother looked determined; the child looked defeated. I knew I could help. With the shaking of one of my balloon animals, I enticed the child in, and her mother reluctantly followed suit. Parents always did; they needed to spoil their kids in the few ways they still could.
Cautiously, the girl took the balloon animal from me. The more she looked down at it, the bigger her smile got. Though my mother at home would disagree, those smiles were so much more valuable than money.
She handed the balloon animal to her mother, meaning it was time for my second act.
"Want to see a magic trick?" I asked.
"Mommy, mommy, can we?" she begged, excitedly shaking her mother's hand.
"If it's quick," the mother shrugged.
She knew the bundle of energy to her left couldn't be stopped.
I began my routine, as I had done countless times before. Placing three pieces of candy on the cart counter, I looked down at the little girl.
"Cherry, blue raspberry, or grape. Which is your favorite?"
"Cherry," she giggled.
"Mmmmm, cherry is my favorite too," I smiled.
I would have said that about whichever flavor she chose, but she didn't need to know that.
Tucking the two candies she hadn't selected into my shirt pocket, I cleared my throat.
"Now, repeat after me, ok?"
"Ok!" She excitedly bounced.
"Abra kadabra!"
"Abra kadabra!"
"Alakazam!"
"Agla-agla-aglazam!" The girl struggled with the word.
"Make this candy float to my hand!"
"Make this candy float to my hand!" she repeated.
With the magic words recited, I focused all of my mind on the piece of candy. After a few seconds, it was hovering ever so slightly above the table.
"Woahhhh," the child exclaimed.
"Wait... how are you..." the mother started, but decided to stop talking in favor of letting her child continue to linger in amazement.
Teasing the girl, I twisted and twirled the candy around her, causing her to giggle uncontrollably. Finally, after a few seconds of this mayhem, I gently landed the candy down into her hands.
"That was amazing!" The child hopped up and down excitedly before slipping the candy into her mouth.
But before her or her mother could say anything else, they were pushed aside by a hulking enforcer, who glared down at me.
"Can I help you, sir?" I nervously asked. "Looking for a balloon animal for your child?"
"Don't play games with me," he sneered. "You've got some balls doing that in front of an enforcer; I'll give you that."
"Doing what? I don't understand," I said.
Then I was being hoisted from behind my cart, and shoved away toward the continuously-flowing crowd of people being herded down into the station.
"Mommy, what's going on?" I heard the girl ask with concern.
"I knew this would happen," she sighed. "Come on, let's get home."
"But mommy," I heard the child crying as she was carried off.
Now a part of the endless crowd, I was forced down into the depths of the station, where I was injected with some sort of serum. The sting of entry hurt, but I felt nothing otherwise. Before I knew it, I found myself on this very train, being hurdled away to god knows where.
I needed to get home to my mother; she wouldn't be able to survive without me. But first, I needed to figure out what the hell was going on.
Suddenly, the train came to a screeching halt, sending all of us jostling around, colliding into each other. As we regained our bearings, the doors slid open, and the bright sear of the evening sunlight stung my eyes.
"Everyone out, now!" an enforcer barked.
We all eagerly obliged; nobody wanted to be on this train longer than they needed to. When I finally saw our destination, panic surged through me.
"Sir there must be some mistake!" I shouted, immediately running up to one of the enforcers guiding us out of the train. "I'm not a different; I shouldn't be here!"
"Did you pass out when you got hit with the difference inhibitor serum?" he asked calmly.
At first I didn't understand what he was talking about, but then I remembered the vial I was injected with before being shoved onto the train.
"No... I felt nothing," I said.
"Wrong answer buddy."
With a sigh and clear regret on his face, he shoved me back into the herd of prisoners making their way toward the internment camp.
"Wait! Wait!" I cried out, but I was pushed too far ahead by the panicking crowd for any of the enforcers to hear me.
After a while of chaos, the crowd settled down into a more organized line, thanks to the shoves and shouts of more enforcers swarming out of the camp gates. I tried and tried again to plead with them, to make them understand their mistake, but they either could not hear me above the crowd, or purposely chose to ignore me.
Soon I found myself waiting in the eonic line, at the front of which in the distance I could see enforcers processing people for internment. Some were then herded beyond the gates into the camp, and others were made to stand in a growing crowd outside the barbed-wire fence.
Suddenly, I felt a tug on my jeans. I looked down to see a little boy; he couldn't be much older than the girl I had shown my trick to hours ago.
"I can't find my mommy and daddy." He stared up at me with terror in his eyes.
Pain surged through my chest, but I held in my tears.
"Don't worry. We'll find them soon, ok?" I smiled, placing my hand on his shoulder.
He said nothing, but looked to the ground in defeat. I had to think fast.
"Want to see a magic trick?" I asked, trying to channel my usual upbeat performance.
"Ok."
He looked up at me, his frown growing just a bit less sharp.
"Which flavor do you like more, blue raspberry or grape?"
I pulled the two remaining candies from my shirt pocket.
"Blue raspberry I guess," he shrugged, kicking the dirt below him.
"Now, repeat after me, ok?"
"Fine."
"Abra kadabra!"
"Abra kadabra."
He repeatedly glanced back and forth between the ground and the candy in my hand.
"Alakazam!"
"Alakazam."
"Make this candy float to my hand!"
"Make this candy float to my hand?" he said quizzically.
I focused my mind on the candy, channeling my energy to the small treat. The candy did not budge.

Note
Also I had some coffee today and it was chocolate raspberry and it was so tasty and I had it with some apple cinnamon bread that my cousin had made and it was a little stale but it's alright bc it was tasty and paired with the coffee it made delicious dessert so :)
Also while I was in the store earlier I had the WORST cramps I literally felt like I was going to fall on the floor but after a while they went away and I could enjoy the shopping again so yay I also got some bright red nail polish I haven't put it on yet but I was thinking of doing that tomorrow
I really want to get into cosmetic stuff but I never learned how to do makeup and at this point I'm too scared to ask bc anxiety of ppl making fun of me for not knowing how to do makeup is strong and that may sound stupid but hey I got issues lol but yeah I want to learn how to do makeup but I have no clue where to start or what brands to get or like anything
Also with skincare bc my skin has seen better days but I'm also too nervous to ask for help with that and I have no clue what to do for that so lol my skin is suffering
I've slowly but surely been getting my wardrobe to my current style and Ive gotten a lot more comfortable wearing shorts in public bc before I always wore pants so my legs were never shown off and I realized about last year(?) That I had gotten really self conscious about my legs even around my family but i actually wore shorts out in public yesterday when I met up with my mom and I felt so happy bc I rlly like the outfit I was wearing it was black shorts with a white shirt with yellow and blue vertical stripes and the shirt was tucked into the shorts and I felt so happy wearing it it was great I felt very very good abt myself which is good bc I am self conscious about my body a little but it's gotten a lot better recently so that's good!
-🌼
chocolate raspberry coffee sounds so good wtf I wanna try that
okay I'm not going to go off on a tangent here on makeup/skincare recs and tips and all that unless you ask for it, but if you ever want that kind of stuff I know quite a bit about those kinds of things and I'm happy to share my wisdom! I'm not like an expert makeup artist or anything and while I hypothetically know about more intense stuff like contouring and baking your face and all that I've never actually done it, but I do know a decent amount! and I can do eyeliner really well so, there's that. and I've already made some skincare rec posts on here but I'm happy to answer more qs about that stuff if you ever desire
I'm glad you were able to feel good about your outfit!! baby steps are important for that stuff, but definitely try to branch out and wear outfits you might not normally wear! if you see an item of clothing you really like but you're self conscious about it, consider getting it any way and seeing if you can just wear it around your house for a bit to feel more confident in it before wearing it out. I used to be really self conscious about wearing tight shirts for a very specific body insecurity I have that I won't get into rn but I really love wearing crop tops so I gradually just started getting tops that were a bit tighter and it really helped my confidence

Put a Pin In It || Sloane / Cass / Ari / Rio / Jonas
TIMING: On Cass’s birthday (mid July)  LOCATION: The farm house  PARTIES: @faetedwill @stolensiren @3starsquinn @letsbenditlikebennett @moonrivermedium SUMMARY:  For Cass’s birthday, Sloane, Jonas, Rio, and Ari get together to celebrate their friend.  CONTENT WARNINGS: N/A
Sloane wasn’t sure why she was so nervous about Cass’s birthday celebration. Maybe it was because she hadn’t been invited to any parties growing up, or maybe it was because she wanted to make a good and lasting impression. Whatever it was, it ended up with Sloane buying way too many cartons of cupcakes of varying flavors, as well as 5 slurpees. She hadn’t yet met Jonas, so she wasn’t sure what flavor he would prefer, so she hoped she’d gone in the right direction of blue raspberry. Who didn’t love blue raspberry? Very possibly Jonas, but she hoped that wasn’t the case.
But it seemed alright. Slurpee in hand, Sloane sat across from Jonas, just next to Cass in one of the camping chairs that Ari had pulled out for the five of them. “Ari, whatever the hell you’re doing over there, it smells good.” She shot a look at Ari’s before finding the bright red straw of her slurpee and sucking down a small portion of the liquid. The threat of a brain freeze lingered, but she ignored it as she leaned back. She didn’t know too much about superheroes, so she opted for something on the easier side– Spider Gwen while Steve ran around with a cape red cape she had fashioned from a bed sheet.
Admittedly, Ari may have gone overboard when it came to the food portion of the party. She was still coming out of the post demon possession slump and wanted this party to be fun for all of them, especially Cass who she knew had also been having a go of things as of late. White Crest had a habit of that, putting good people through bad shit, so this party was going to be a blast. She stood by the grill donning her admittedly cheesy Wolfsbane costume as Luna ran around saying hi to everyone in her Supergirl costume. Or as Ari preferred to call it, her Super Good Girl costume.
Kebabs, burgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers were all cooking on the grill while some sides were still inside for safe keeping. Ari didn’t know what bugs White Crest had flying around this time of year, but now wasn’t the time to find out, especially if they were those stinging bees that made everything all trippy. “We’ve got veggie burgers for you, regular burgers, hot dogs, chicken kebabs, corn on here. Got some other sides and stuff in the house. I think we have a ton of desserts too, even for the dogs.”
“Then there’s some games and stuff for after we eat, too,” Ari said brightly, feeling a little over-excited to have most of her friends here.
Jonas sat awkwardly in his chair, Blue was on his feet in her batgirl costume soaking up the attention he could offer with one free hand. He was using the other to hold up his slurpee and was taking sips from it from time to time. He liked blue raspberry and normally would have downed it by now but didn’t think a brain freeze would do his head any good. Jonas had gone the opposite direction from Ari and had brought way too many supplies to make sure there were enough plates and napkins and paper cups all superhero themed. He even brought little goodie bags filled with homemade cookies for humans and dogs to take home later.
Jonas hadn’t dressed up, he thought Blue being in costume was good enough for the both of them. The dog was surprisingly alright with it, “Blue why don’t you-don’t you go greet the other guests?” His feet were starting to fall asleep. “Do you-do you want any help Ari?” He turned around in his seat hoping to have a reason to get up. The dog didn’t seem to agree at first but after all the shuffling from Jonas she finally got up and went to sit on someone else’s feet and beg for pets.
The party was like nothing Cass had ever experienced before. It was certainly unlike anything anyone had ever done for her. It made her feel warm inside, put a grin on her face that nothing could erase. Her costume — a Silk costume she’d been putting together for Halloween — might have felt a little hot if not for the fans pumped up to full blast and the slushie cooling her gloved hands. She grinned as she took a sip, the bandana from the costume hanging around her neck. Leaning down, she scratched Blue behind the ears and flashed Jonas a small smile.
“It really does smell amazing,” she said in Ari’s direction, leg bouncing where she sat. “Are you sure you don’t mind doing the cooking? I can get up to help you if you want.” That unquenchable desire to make herself useful was on full display, had seen her hovering near Ari for the first few minutes of the party until she was led over to one of the chairs. At the mention of games, she perked up even further. “What kind? I love party games.” She turned to Sloane, flashing her a grin. “I bet you could pin so many tails on so many donkeys.”
Social gatherings had never been something Orion excelled at. He had an awkward enough time carrying a conversation with one person. Around multiple he tended to fade into the background and try to disappear entirely. But despite not knowing the person they were celebrating, Ari had made sure that Rio got the invite and the last thing he wanted to do was ruin the party. So he threw together a makeshift Wiccan outfit which mostly consisted of a long sleeve black shirt and black pants with a red cape. He was currently scratching at his head under the headband he had bought to complete the look, an accessory he wasn’t used to wearing that was causing his forehead to sweat and his brown hair to stick to his skin.
“I’ve offered to help her multiple times.” Rio shrugged, taking a long sip from the slurpee that Sloane had brought along. She had been a familiar face - both of them having grown up in town. But they had never been friends. “She didn’t accept it. Though to be fair- I’m not really known for my cooking skills.” He was sure Ari had heard all about how awful his diet was from Athena when the two lived together. His sister had constantly berated him and tried to get him to eat healthier. “I suck at party games” Rio admitted, forcing himself to perk back up immediately, “But I’m in.”
Sloane felt mildly guilty for not having offered Ari some help like both Jonas and Cass, but as Rio spoke, she knew that he had the right idea — even if they offered, Ari would shoo them away. Too many hands in the kitchen, or something. Her dad used that expression more times than she could count, and most of the time, she was forced to listen to him. She’d at the very least be on clean-up duty. “I think our way of helping might be eating all of the food that way she doesn’t have leftovers for like, days.”
At Cass’s comment about pin the tail on the donkey, Sloane snorted. “That’s like, oddly specific.” The banshee leaned forward in her chair and reached to pat Blue on the side, scratching just at her hip. She began to kick her leg out, just as Steve usually did when she hit the right spot. “She might be in competition with Steve for who’s cuter, Jonas.” Sloane flashed him a smile before turning her attention to her own dog who had taken one of Luna’s toys and was currently running around with it. “Party games will be fun either way, even if we’re not good at them.” She wasn’t, or at least, she didn’t know if she was. She hadn’t ever had the opportunity to take part, other than the ones that went on in the classroom at the end of each year.
For the most part, Ari liked taking charge in the kitchen and having that arena to herself. Aside from the fact she was easily distracted, she always had a system going inside her head that she didn’t like to have disrupted. Celeste, Athena, and Kaden were the only people she’d really felt comfortable sharing the kitchen with. They had a cadence and worked well together without getting in the other’s way. She did appreciate the offer for help though. The thought always counted. “I’ve got it covered,” she said with a smile, “I can be a little controlling in the kitchen… or well, grill I guess currently.”
Ari couldn’t help but laugh at Rio and Sloane’s very accurate predictions about her. “Yeah,” she laughed, “They were spot on with that one. Eating all the food is helping.” She opened the top to give the burgers a final flip and started removing the hot dogs and corn. She didn’t go as overboard in the game department, but they had a selection. “Uh, cornhole I think it’s called? And Cards Against Humanity and yes, pin the tail on the donkey. I’ve never played it so felt like a good time to start,” she answered with a grin.
Jonas looked over at Sloane and smiled, “Steve is-is very cute.” He gave up on the idea of helping Ari and instead played with the straw in his cup. “I wouldn’t mind playing some-some games.” It would give his brain something to do, he was used to going to bars and parties but never very good at just mingling. Talking was all well and good but actively doing something while talking was even better. It would probably make everyone else feel more at ease too.
“How about we start with -start with pin the tail. I want to see if Sloane is actually-actually great at it.” Jonas didn’t know Sloane so he was curious as to why Cass would say she seemed like she’d be able to pin so many donkey tails. “Though we should do it -do it where the dogs are kept out of the way.” Blue was needy and he didn’t want her to accidentally trip someone while they were holding a tail or end up in the way. She was a big dog after all.
It was hardly a surprise that Ari was refusing help, though Cass still wished she could get her to accept some. But the werewolf seemed happy to do it, and it was enough to make Cass relax. “I can, like, only make pasta, to be honest,” she admitted with a sheepish shrug. She was working on perfecting other recipes, but it was the kind of thing that would take time. And it probably wouldn’t be great if the food at the party was all burned. She wanted everyone to have fun, not to have to eat burned burgers. “But eating I’m pretty good at. Like, pretty much a pro.”
Jonas’s suggestion was a good one, and Cass nodded along as he spoke. “I just have, like, a gut feeling. Like, you just have pin the tail on the donkey vibes. Corn hole is gonna be my game, though. I’m totally gonna kick all your asses.” Really, she didn’t care who won and who lost; she was just happy to be here. Happy to have friends who’d come together to celebrate her birthday for… what was probably the first time in twenty-three years.
Orion found himself smiling as the group talked about which game to play. Though he didn’t know most of these people, he knew if Ari trusted them that he could relax around them as well. Sloane and Cass both seemed more social and at ease in the group setting, similar to how Ari was. Which left Jonas and Rio to be the more reserved ones. He wasn’t sure whether he felt more or less comfortable around Jonas after the guy had quite literally seen Rio at his most vulnerable. But there was a certain connection there knowing they both suffered from panic attacks. That he hadn’t been judging Rio for it. “I’m with Cass. Eating is a great skill of mine. All the work before hand? Not winning any awards there.” He hadn’t been back in town long, but as long as he had been crashing with Ari he didn’t think she had asked for his help cooking once. Clearly, Athena had told her about his lack of skill.
“I’d like to see this tail pinning skill too. I think you’re going to nail it.” Rio offered Sloane a thumbs up. He wasn’t sure this was a skill someone could be naturally good at, but he was willing to play along. For the vibes and all. “What’s corn hole again? That one with the bean bags? And like the hole that you throw it at?” Jesus, his introvert was showing. “I’m so sorry for whoever’s team I end up on in advance. Whatever happens… just know I’m trying my best.”
Sloane leaned forward in her chair, scooting forward enough so that the back legs were lifted off of the ground. She rocked back a bit to tap them against the floor. “I’m going to either prove, or destroy the expectations you have.” She beamed at Cass before she got to her feet. Slurpee still in hand, Sloane took a long sip, wincing slightly at the feeling at the back of her throat, just beyond her tonsils. “Eating is easy, it’s the cooking part is hard. I mean, unless you’re a part of one of those eating contests or something.”
The banshee nodded thoughtfully at Cass’s declaration that she’d be good at corn hole. She hadn’t ever played that one. “Not sure, but why the hell don’t they call it something else? What’s the purpose of corn?” Sloane whistled for Steve who came running around the corner, Luna’s toy still in his mouth. She leaned forward as he knocked against her leg, tail beating quickly in the air. “I second Jonas though, I think Steve might try to take the bean bag out of the air, it’ll make you lose. He’ll be the reigning champion, Cass.” Sloane watched as Steve trotted away to find somebody else to gain attention from and then she looked at Rio as he offered his condolences for his less-than stellar gameplay. “There’s an odd number of us, we can be on a team. You’ll need me for the pin-the-tail.”
“I don’t mind - I don’t mind just being a judge and watching the dogs.” Jonas was more than comfortable just watching. Plus if someone kept an eye on the dogs he’d feel better about it. He didn’t want them running around on their own while everyone was playing and he thought Blue would appreciate it if she could sit by him.
“They used to- used to fill the bags with corn.” Jonas explained, though he wasn’t sure the others were looking for an explanation really still he had it and thought he might as well offer it. He turned towards Rio and offered a smile, “I’m sure you’ll do just- do just fine, besides the point is to - is to have fun.” He tried to reassure the other man though he did know that some people could get competitive and was hoping it wouldn’t get to that. But he stood and took a few more sips of his slurpee before moving past his chair to round up the pups.
“You always surpass my expectations,” Cass replied with a grin, and it was true. Everyone here did, even Rio, who she’d only just met. She’d never expected this kind of companionship from any of them, because she didn’t expect it from anyone at all. Cass had been alone most of her life; moments like this reminded her that that wasn’t the case anymore. It was a good feeling. “You should only sit out if you want to,” she told Jonas, wanting to ensure that he was having a good time, too. “We can have one team with three people! If Rio’s as bad at is as he says he’ll be, maybe we’ll give him the advantage.” She flashed Rio a quick grin as she said it.
She blinked at the explanation behind the game’s name, intrigued. “What are they filled with now? And why did they stop filling them with corn? I’ve got so many questions.” Jonas was right, though; the point of all the games was only to have a good time. Cass doubted anyone there was entirely concerned with winning.
“I agree with Cass. If you want to play, we’d love to have you on our team.” Sloane pointed from herself to Rio. “I’m speaking for him, by the way.” She wasn’t sure if that was a great idea considering she didn’t know him very well at all, but still. “Hey, who says Rio will make us lose. Maybe it will be me. But Jonas? Definitely going to be a champion.” Sloane grabbed a chip from one of the opened bags and popped it into her mouth.
At Jonas’s explanation, Sloane stopped mid-chew. “Wait, really?” She blinked at him. “So it totally lost its meaning then.” Like a lot of things, but– “that’s cool, appreciate the explanation!” She smiled at Jonas to really drive in the point that she was grateful he took the time to teach her something, even if it’d been a joke. Now she could use that tidbit of information if she ever needed to.
Ari smiled as she brought food over to the table they’d set up outside. If it was pin the tail on the donkey skeleton, she was pretty sure Sloane could figure it out based on the bones alone. Maybe that translated to a poster of Jack the donkey. She’d fly with it. “You know, I’m gonna believe you’re a natural at the donkey game. It’d be the most random hidden talent ever and I’m here for it.”
She took a seat with her friends and appreciated how normal this all was. Just a group of friends together celebrating a birthday on a nice summer day. Most days, Ari found herself wondering why she stayed here when it brought so much hurt, but sitting here, it was easy to see why. Moments just like this one. She shot Cass a smirk and so exclaimed, “We’ll have to be on separate teams to keep things fair because we already know I’m good at corn hole.” She nudged her shoulder to Rio’s. “I’ll take Rio. I can make enough shots for the both of us.”
“Oh I actually know this!” Rio chimed in excitedly at Cass’s question. If there was anything that was going to help break him out of his shell it was random historical facts. “Since the 70’s normal beanbags have been filled with these beads called EPS beads. It’s like a cheap plastic material.” Rio tried to explain. Admittedly, he knew more about the name of the material than he did about what EPS actually stood for, “Don’t ask me how I know that. It was a weird rabbit hole involving Hacky sack. As for why they use it, whoo knows. Corn kernels go bad eventually and can get moldy if wet so maybe longevity? But I didn’t even know they used to use real corn kernels, so thanks for the trivia, Jonas.” Rio smiled in his direction. Jonas wouldn’t know, but random pieces of information were like gold to Rio. He lived for learning stuff like that.
Blue was making her rounds and Rio was happy to finally kneel down and scratch her behind the ears to as he tried to keep his attention towards the group. “I’m happy wherever you put me.” Surprisingly, he meant it too. The anxiety he had felt for being around people that weren’t just Ari had slowly melted away. “I’m mostly just excited to eat Ari’s food.”
“If we’re sure about the teams then I don’t-I don’t mind it.” Jonas was fine sitting it out, but he was glad to play if the others wanted him too. How long had it been since he actually played a party game? Maybe Alex’s last birthday? At least not since he came to White Crest. But here he was surrounded by wonderful people at a party, really he was starting to feel more at home in the town because of the people he kept running into. “I am excited to get a chance to- chance to eat too.”
Jonas hadn’t gotten the chance to eat Ari’s cooking before, so far the two had only had take out and restaurant food while in each others company so far. “So Ari is the one to - one to beat in cornhole and Sloane in - in pin the tail.”
Cass grinned as Ari brought the food over, wasting little time in grabbing a burger for her plate. “It definitely wouldn’t be fair if we were on the same team,” she agreed, though she’d never actually played cornhole before to know if it was true. “We’d totally destroy the competition.” She found that she didn’t really mind what team she ended up on; everyone here would make the game fun, regardless of how they were divided.
She listened with interest as Rio launched into an explanation regarding the makeup of beanbags, nodding along as he spoke. “I guess it would make sense to use something that won’t get moldy and gross. Maybe it’s cheaper, too?” Things usually came down to the bottom line where companies were concerned, she’d learned. Between Jonas and Rio, Cass certainly knew a lot more about beanbags now than she had before, and she flashed the two of them a bright grin in thanks. “Food is pretty exciting. And, hey, the quicker we eat it, the quicker we can see if we’re right about our party game predictions!”
“They should have called it Mold Hole if that were the case, then.” Sloane squinted, expression fixing into something disgusted. “Wait, never mind.” Sloane followed Ari back over to the table and took a seat, wasting no time in grabbing one of the veggie burgers that Ari had prepared especially for her. Maybe others, too, but she couldn’t be sure about their diets. It wasn’t like it mattered, did it? If Ari trusted them all to be here, then maybe Sloane should, too. “I hope that if I ever get thrown to the wolves–” She cleared her throat, trying not to make eye contact with Ari about her joke, “that is trivia, it’s about bean bags.”
Now Sloane had to be good at pin the tail. If she wasn’t, she’d be ruining just about every expectation that the group had. With a smile, she took a bite out of her burger and wiped her hand against her mouth before she pointed at Rio with her pinky finger. “I might need to take you out for some trivia.” She glanced over to Jonas. “You, too. You guys would win us the big bucks.” The banshee put her burger back down, only finishing her sentence once she was done with her bite. “Not that that’s all you’re good for.” Her gaze cut over to Ari, then to Cass. “This is like, really good. Cass, she really pulled out all the stops for you on your…” it occurred to her then that she didn’t know how old her friend was. “Birthday.”
Once Ari was certain everyone had gotten some of what they wanted on their plates, she filled her own with kebabs and one of the corn cobs. She listened to the corn hole fun facts somewhat intrigued. That explained the original name, but Rio was right, rotten corn probably didn’t smell great. “Good thing they changed it then, Could definitely do without the stale or moldy corn smell.”
While trivia was far from something Ari was good at, she had the feeling Rio and Jonas on a team could kick some major butt. “You might be onto something there,” she laughed, “I’m only good at the sports part of trivia and even then it’s like… soccer. Or repair stuff! Actually between all of us we should cover most of the categories.”
There was a proud grin on her face as people mentioned the food was really good. Ari always enjoyed feeding people and it was even better when they liked the food. “Had to,” she joked, “You only turn 23 once… probably”
“I would love a trivia night” Rio interjected immediately. He wasn’t convinced that he could yell out answers in a crowded bar, but he was pretty confident that half of this group would if he mumbled it. “Next birthday party should definitely be that.” He hesitated at suggesting it for his own birthday. That seemed lame. Especially when Ari was the only one here that he could legitimately count as a friend before today. He at least hoped they all considered him a friend now. “Yeah, I agree. I suck at sport stuff.  We can all balance each other out.”
Rio didn’t hesitate in stuffing his mouth with food as the others ate too. He loved Ari’s cooking. It was definitely the best meals he had in the last year or so since he left town. It was probably the best cooking since he lived with Winston and Ricky. “This is amazing, Ari. No surprise of course.” He must have thanked and complimented her a million times since running into her at The Common. But in his defense, he had a year of time to make up for. “After this we gotta put this pin the tail theory to the test.”
“Trivia night would be delightful.” Jonas was great at trivia, as long as it didn’t pertain to movies and sports but he was sure the others had that covered. He grabbed some food from the table and took a seat, Blue moved under it to catch anything he might drop. “You can’t have any.” He mumbled at her before turning his attention back to the group.
“The food really is - really is great Ari.” Jonas offered a smile before turning to Cass, “Happy Birthday. Oh that reminds me,” He pulled out his phone and got up coming over to Cass, “I took pictures of Zan and Jayna in little - little capes.” All the smoke and noise wouldn’t have been good for the birds so they got to stay home but Jonas still wanted them to be included somehow given they were Cass’. He pulled up the pictures and handed the phone to Cass. “I wouldn’t mind - wouldn’t mind pin the tail after this.”
“Mold Hole!” Cass repeated with an undignified snort, the sound turning into a laugh rather quickly. She felt light and good and free in a way she very rarely did here. Good company did wonders for a person. “We’d make a kickass trivia team!” She agreed with a grin. “If there are any questions about comic books, I’m your girl. Even the stupid, obscure stuff like Hellcow.” Between all of them, they’d probably have at least one expert in most of the trivia categories.
Flashing Ari a bright grin, Cass nodded. “Hey, you never know in White Crest, right? Twenty-three might repeat!” She took a bite of the burger, humming contentedly. “This really is, like, the best burger I’ve ever had. I think I want you to cook all my meals forever now.” Leaning forward as Jonas brought over the phone, she cooed at the photos. “Oh my god, they’re so cute! Look at Zan’s little smile!” She sighed, sending the photos to herself so she could have them on her phone before handing Jonas’s back to him. “Yeah, for sure!”
Sloane was happy that her suggestion of going out for trivia seemed to catch their attention. She liked being around people she enjoyed the company of, and even though she only really knew Cass and Ari, Jonas and Rio were shaping up to be good company. When Ari clarified how old Cass was, Sloane nodded. That made sense. At Cass’s words, Sloane snorted. “Don’t say that. It might.” The reality of where they lived stayed with them every step of the way, even in their offhanded jokes.
The banshee watched over her burger as Jonas got up to show Cass something on his phone, silently reminding herself to mind her business. If it was meant to be shared, it would be. It wasn’t like she had to be included in everything. Sloane swayed in her seat slightly as she finished off another bite of her burger. It had shocked her the first time she had Ari’s cooking. There were some key differences in the way Ari and her dad both grilled, but she had already made the joke to her dad that he might have some competition, to which he brushed off with laughter and a look that said I’d like to see her try. “Pin the tail sounds great.” After a moment, Sloane set her burger down. “Who’s Zan? Is that another dog?”
“Hm? Oh no Zand and Jayna are um well budgies.” Jonas carefully shuffled over to Sloane and offered her his phone. “They’re rather - rather fond of Cass.” The two budgies were wearing little capes in the photos though Jayna seemed more intent on taking it off than Zan. “Hellcow? What’s Hellcow?” Jonas didn’t know much about comics but he knew there was one where a monkey had a gun, so he supposed something called Hellcow was within the realm of possibility.
Jonas wasn’t really surprised at Cass’ age given that he had to see all her paperwork before hiring her. “Mm you shouldn’t jinx it. It might -might actually happen.” If Jonas had learned one thing from coming to White Crest, it was that anything was possible. The year repeating? Would be expected at this point.
Rio immediately turned to Cass when she mentioned Hellcow. “Holy crap I completely forgot hellcow existed.” Jonas seemed curious too, asking about it afterwards. “I’m definitely not an expert on it. But it’s this pretty obscure Marvel comic. Pretty sure it’s about a vampire cow. I’m sure Cass knows more.” He didn’t know many comic book fans, so knowing that Cass considered herself an expert only made him like her more. He had mostly fallen behind in his comic books. He used to sneak away to Tower Comics and spend the entire day reading comics, but once he started with the Scribrary he had lost of free time to read that wasn’t ancient text or old Scribe journals. “We need to talk comic books more later, Cass.”
If it wasn’t something that could actually happen, Rio might find the year repeating joke hilarious. But as things were going now, it seemed like an all too possible outcome. The idea was enough to make Rio nauseous, but he decided to ignore it entirely and continue stuffing his face with Ari’s food. Totally worth the upcoming stomach ache. “I think it’s time to show us how pin the tail is done, Sloane.”
“There are worse years to repeat,” Cass said, a hint of fondness to her tone. “I’ve got a feeling 23 is going to be a really good one.” How could it not be, when she was kicking it off surrounded by friends with the promise of trivia and pin the tail on the donkey in her immediate future? This was the kind of thing she’d always wanted, but never imagined she might actually have. And she was glad it was real. Turning to Rio, she grinned. “A vampire cow with a serious grudge against Dracula,” she confirmed. “We’re definitely going to talk comics later!” She was ecstatic at the concept of having someone to talk comics with, really; Cass could go on for hours about her favorite books, and if Rio knew about Hellcow, he was probably pretty well-versed, too.
Finishing up her burger, she grinned and clapped her hands together. “But for right now, it’s definitely time for Sloane to school us all on pin the tail!” She was a little delighted that her completely out of left field claim that Sloane would be good at the game had stuck; it would make things funnier either way. Standing, she held a hand out to Sloane with an excited bounce. “C’mon!”
They were just birds. Well, not just birds. They were very cute birds. Sloane felt dumb for feeling left out as she looked at Jonas’s phone, a smile breaking over her features as she pointed to the one on the left. “They’re very cute. I’d love to meet them one day.” She looked up at Jonas, smile still intact.
As both Rio and Jonas began to discuss Hellcow, Sloane leaned back, picking up her drink to take a sip of it. The slurpee had already begun to melt, so there was less ice than there was liquid and it tasted watered down. She was disappointed in the gas station for going easy on the syrup in their latest batch. “A vampire cow? Seriously?” Sloane set her drink down and shook her head with a snort. “That sounds… super obscure. Maybe that’s what I should’ve dressed Steve up as. Cass, you should have told me.” She shot a look over the table at her friend seeming far more disappointed than she actually was.
At Rio’s suggestion that they start pin the tail, Sloane slapped the top of the table enthusiastically, ignoring the dull pain that began to splinter through her fingers. “Let’s do it!” She wasted no time in untangling herself from where she sat, folding up the paper plate and tossing it into the neighboring bin. Sloane took Cass’s hand with ease and allowed herself to be pulled toward the door that had the donkey vinyl taped to it. “I need to be spun, right?”

get to know you better tag!
tagged by @melliabee and @o-lei-o-lai-o-lord (both of whom I can’t properly tag, sorry, IDK if it’s just my tumblr acting up or what). Combining the two lists into one here :)
Favorite time of year: fall. early fall when the weather turns crisp and I’m just starting to wear sweaters comfortably, when it’s windy and rainy and beautiful in Iowa, where I live. chef’s KISS. God made all seasons beautiful in their time but boy do I appreciate the early fall.
Favorite Color: today it’s the light blue-grey of a foggy morning
Comfort food: hmm... dad’s waffles, cooked in his dearly beloved mini-wafflemakers, with syrup and/or margarine.
Do you collect something? Yes! Rocks and feathers.
Most treasured rock: a rough blue crystal-y one, really vividly blue and opaque, that I’ve had for ever. It was my mom’s before it was mine.
Most recent feather: I just recently found a really nice owl feather on campus. It’s a wing feather, I’m pretty sure. Maybe someday I’ll learn to actually identify feathers n’ stuff. For now I just think they’re pretty :)
Favorite drink: chamomile tea, raspberry tea, and hot chocolate are tied for favorite. They have different purposes, you know?
Favorite song: I have to choose one? Well... What Wondrous Love Is This always hits me right in the chest... but I love singing it and I love listening to it. I could hear it every day and not get tired of it, so favorite it is. (for a secular one, I’d go with Swimming Pool by Young Waters for similar reasons.)
Current favorite song: today? Classical Gas by Mason Williams. Joey Wilson (a superhero favorite of mine) canonically learned it on guitar, and I’ll be listening to it later today while I write the next chapter of my fic. It’s a good instrumental song, melancholy but hopeful, sort of despairing and sort of upbeat.
Favorite fic (well, at least one of them): ohhh, let’s see. Reclaiming Innocence, a fic where Jason Todd was a child prostitute, is a long and beautiful slice-of-life story about healing which was one of the major inspirations for Strange Redemption. It’s so difficult and real and aaa I’m not doing it justice. I weep.
Currently Reading: The Reverse of a Robin is a Shadow by @called-kept. Also tons of random poems for my British Literature class and my poetry class. We talked about Tyger Tyger in class today in British Lit!
Currently Working On: writing The Strange Redemption of Thaddeus Thawne (I expect the next chapter will be done within the week!!). Taking ceramics, entomology, rhetorical analysis, poetry, and romantic & Victorian British Literature (undergrad English major here!). Getting Enough Sleep. Sewing a plushie hamster without a pattern (a fun little challenge for myself, even if I’ve already messed up several times and dubbed the li’l guy Frankenhammy because of all his mismatched pieces).
Last Series: The last series I finished was uhhh... I think Mob Psycho 100! I’m also trying out The Bear (a cooking drama found family thing?) @swinging-stars-from-satellites’ ramblings convinced me to give it a shot. It’s way grittier than the stuff I normally like, but what can I say? I’m hooked. Carmy is incredibly pathetic and I want him to succeed.
Last Movie: A Werewolf Boy (2012). It’s a Korean fantasy romance / tragedy. I watched this as a child and loved it, so I was SUPER excited to find it free online again! I adore the gentle-monster trope, and werewolves are where it’s at. I always adore a good werewolf story, barring weird romances, and this movie is NOT a weird romance. It’s just sweet.
Not tagging anyone, because I’ve made this into a monster of a list, but feel free to steal this. And tag me if you do! I love seeing these.

So after finally getting my Gamer Supps samples and my GFuel order I've tried all 3 samples and both flavors and I wanna lay out my thoughts on them.
So first to get the energy drink formulas part out of the way, I 100% feel they are both stronger than Monster and the nootropics are def. a factor I can feel. Vs each other though? I'd say Gamer Supps just hits stronger by a bit, it can be taxing in too high a dose for me even.
To rundown taste and each flavor I'll start at GFuel, they are mildly chalky and lighter sweetness and mildly lighter flavor. Cutting the serving in half def. made both flavors better to me (or add more water if that's your bag) but the chalky texture was fine with me even at full strength. My fav drink is a malt, do u think chalky bothers me???
I got 2 tubs of GFuel on bogo while waiting for my Gamer Supps samples and the total price was $48 for both with tax and shipping, 80/160 servings (160 bc they taste better at half to me. 80 at regular serving size) about 60/30c a serving which ain't bad, worse than crystal light (17c+ a serving) better than any canned energy drink.
First flavor I tried was the Candy Corn on Halloween! Just a wonderful experience enjoying my candy corn drink and handing out candy, the flavor is definitely candy corn-specifically the honey and vanilla flavors and an added (candy) flavor I wanna say might be carrot extractive? At times at full strength it gave carrot cake vibes but at half this is harder to notice and I just taste a sweet and very slightly sour candy corn flavor. I wanna drink more writing this,,,,in love. Not bad at full strength and I'd say try it there first, but I like the change from half to two-thirds gives.
Next is the Sour Power aka Raspberry Candy flavored and I'm not sure which raspberry candy but it has a flavor profile a LOT like a sour punch straw, big malic acid hit first them you taste the flavor which isn't my favorite thing but the flavor itself is nice and the sour isn't gross or everlasting. It is just pleasing, not amazing but uniquely restrained (It tastes like the base of a punch, which is almost a compliment- it's rare to taste punch flavors alone these days) flavor that at full strength is too much but at half tastes really nice to me. Would advise trying it at half first THEN mixing more in if you want.
FINALLY my samples for Gamer Supps came, they were lost in the mail somewhere,,,I wonder why (deterioration of the u.s postal service) the flavors they sent were Strawberry Lime, Blue Razz, and Pineapple Cocktail.
Gamer Supps all have a specific underlying taste to them which I am guessing is the energy blend + sweetener +(probably flavor mix they like, like going to a Friday's and every drink has sour mix in it) and I like it tbh! Tastes better than GFuel's and they are MUCH sweeter and more heavily flavored. Also zero chalky and they mix effortlessly into some gorgeous colors themselves. (*stares at blue razz forever until i dieded*)
First flavor I tried was Strawberry Lime and normally I'm not a huge strawberry flavor fan (it has been done pretty nasty,,,) but this rocked, the flavor mix was good and it had lime jello vibes which I adore so zero problem there but the #1 thing it tasted like to me?? dnL. No idea what that is? It was a lime lemon drink from the early 2000s based on a reverse mix of 7up, a lemon lime soda. I loved it, i missed it, here it fucking is as an energy drink but also no longer syrupy!! Great I love it, my fav fruit flavor of this write up.
Next was Blue Razz and why is it Blue Razz and not Blue Raspberry?? Upon tasting I realized why- It's flavored like Razzles! The tasty and fun lil gum candy hybrids and it's a bit like a yellow and a blue at once, so slightly pineappley and noticeably blue razzley. It was fine, I'd probably get this if I wanted a subdued fruity drink that I don't need to be in the mood for I just already am.
Last is Pineapple Cocktail and tbh!! yay!! I missed u 90s Pineapple Crush flavor, they never make pineapple soda like this anymore. Simpler and faker than Monster Ultra Gold but 100% my preferred pineapple take, would mix this into other things that totally aren't illegal to serve or sell in America (crushed ice, a lil dark rum, mint leaf garnish,,,,) really fun and loved but not a first tub buy for me.
So conclusions; both are great monster ultra replacements for me and dunk on it price and energy-wise and while I miss ultra white I don't feel like they lag behind in flavor (Unless you prefer juice flavor over candy, which I understand) Gamer Supps edges out GFuel for me being easier to mix and stay mixed and better flavor and sweetness strength. I am from Georgia though so mild isn't exactly in my vocabulary except as an insult. GFuel tubs are 40 servings and Gamer Supps are 100 servings both $36 each but Gamer Supps cuts their serving sizes so it's more like 50-60 if at same volume of water.
I love these things but if you know me you know I don't have the money to keep trying them, still there are TONS and I mean TONS of brands and flavors out there. Some are scams, junk, or overpriced trash (Ghost, Rogue, Advanced, Juggernaut, very overpriced and only Advanced is better ingredient-wise. Maw, Mixt, basically just caffeine drinks with little to offer the body.) and some great ones hidden behind gymbro brands. I might do a write-up on my thoughts on them though given how much research I've done. Unsure, but this is all I got for now.
