This is the newest 30-day welfare event in CN, the Tibetan Yak "Wind Flag Chanting Wishes". This is the second 30-day welfare event after the "Orchid Lotus Splendor". It's similar to the lifetime task suits, except it's 30-days instead of 3 months and you get a bunch of free stuff (diamonds, gold, stamina, star coins, association coins, crystal shoes, express passes, site tickets, heart tickets) on the tic-tac-toe board. Digital Darwinism and How This Evolves
In Biology, natural selection is always determined by the “Fitness” of a species, meaning how well a species can survive to reproduce. The finches on the Galapagos Islands proved this idea well: different bird species had different traits depending on their environment. Whether they needed long, narrow beaks to hunt bugs or broad, hefty beaks to break open nuts and seeds, they evolved separately to match their conditions.
But what the hell does this have to do with TikTok and the internet as a whole?

In the early days of online content, the popularity of something, a video, a picture, a song, you name it, was based on how sharable it was. In the early 2000s, memes like the ROFLCOPTER or Hamster Dance were insanely popular, because they thrived on online chatrooms and through email. Similarly, in the later 2000s, platforms like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook were in their infancy. Focusing on YouTube, the site was based entirely on view count. The more views your video got, the longer it stayed on the front page. Creators like Smosh, Ryan Higa, and Ray William Johnson flourished in this time because their content was easily rewatchable, sharable, and most importantly garnered thousands of views. 
But by the early 2010s, YouTube and Google made a tactical decision: Changing the algorithm to promote videos based on watch time instead of view count. The reason behind this was simple, if people could stay on the website longer, Google could show more ads to the viewers and make more money. But by extension, YouTube and Google put pressure on the creators to survive on their platforms, and thus, evolution followed.
Longer form content began to spread like wildfire. Let’s Plays took over the platform because they fit the evolutionary pressure: they were easily producible and were 10, 20, or sometimes even 30 minutes long.

But this doesn’t just stop at YouTube.
Platforms like Twitter and Facebook, and nowadays TikTok and Instagram have introduced their pressures to push creators in whatever direction they need. Engagement is the new fuel for the fire, and what gets people to engage with content? Hatred and controversy. People like Andrew Tate, Elon Musk, or Joe Rogan aren’t famous because of what they do, (that is still a part of it, of course,) they’re famous because they drive people to talk about them, to argue, to voice their opinions on whatever dumb shit they said or did this time.

And even this isn’t new! MTV and TMZ thrived off of celebrity drama and controversy. Reality TV is an entire genre of television built on trashy arguments and punches being thrown. Ever since media, of all forms, has been around, people and companies have been trying to sway the success condition further and further to what they want.
What I want you to take away from this is that, as with many things on the internet,  evolution is happening faster and faster than ever before. Even 200 years after Darwin published his research on what he called “descent with modification”, the content we consume and the creators, including myself, are all fighting to evolve with their platform's pressures. Everyone, from your local news station to the largest companies and governments in the world, is trying to steer the ship of what’s popular and what people pay attention to. Your attention is valuable and every company wants a piece of it.

Crash Course is a YouTube channel filled with science, social science, and historical content presented in fun, usually a mix of real people and animated clips.
Agreeing that the site is witty and fast-paced, CommonSense.org and other commenters are seemingly thrown off by the word 'course' in the channels moniker. CommonSense.org gives Crash Course a rating of 3 out 5 stars, deciding that anything labeled a "course" should be interactive and offer opportunities for students to "engage" with the content - something they claim Crash Course does not necessarily do.

With shoutouts to the "Homeschool Haters" (facts 😉) and videos titled THINGS I WON'T DO AS A HOMESCHOOL MOM and 6 THINGS I DON'T DO AS A HOMESCHOOL MOM, you know you are about to get the real-deal-truth-ruth when it comes to homeschooling. Mandy's channel -THE HANDMADE HOMESCHOOLER- is truly an internet fav. Plus, she runs a free Facebook Group and, even though I, personally, don't rock with a whole bunch of extraneous and miscellaneous purchases and fees related to homeschooling, if you need some early guidance, this channel has curriculum and other resources for preschool and upper grades at the ready.

Besides the cute, little YouTube Shorts she does, as a classroom teacher, I REALLY appreciate The Handmade Homeschooler's approach to HS prep and organization. She seems to backwards plan and Year-At-A-Glance prep like the most veteran of school teachers. Her content is interesting and informative. And definitely the place to go for real talk, organization, preparation, and subject based ideas and information.

ART FOR KIDS HUB
Art for Kids Hub is a great look for all homeschooling families because:
The channel is actually created and hosted by an actual family. With kids. Doing art.
Most of the projects are easy, uncomplicated, and do not require a bunch of supplies or skills. In most cases, pencils and perhaps crayons or markers will suffice.
My boy loves this channel for all of the cool HOW TO DRAW ... videos that provide easy to understand, step-by-step techniques for drawing everything from ants to a slice of lemon pie.

What's cool about the Real Life Lore YouTube channel is, by far, the ... LORE! Featuring titles such as What's the Deepest Hole We Can Possible Dig? This channel is chock full of subject matter based topics that are arranged in way that makes what could be somewhat dry content (digging holes ... huh?) really engaging for elementary aged homeschoolers and up. Filled with science and history/social studies heavy themes, from comprehension questions, essays, drawings, map quests, experiments, and more, your learner can successfully interact with this content in so many ways and have fun doing it.

Since requesting that people send me their independent music I’ve been sent almost every form of guitar centred music.
I received just 2 rap songs. This promoted me to go out into facebooks endless music groups to find more. I got little response.
Then it occurred to me that I had forgotten a living legend. I forgot an artist that has been writing, recording, producing and posting every CD purchased by fan himself with help from his partner Nova Rockafeller who also directs and edits all of his music video.
Rapper Tom MacDonald’s story is incredible. Rising from the depths of depression and addiction to being the biggest independent Rap Artist in the world.
I’ve lost count of how many times he has topped the download charts. He has had issues with the physical charts though.
Despite being able to prove his physical sales Tom was denied the right to be included as an independent artist on the Independent Music Chart in the USA.
The crazy thing is at the time Disney had a song at the top of this independent music chart. Seriously Disney? They may not be a record label but they are a multi billion dollar company with massive power and influence. Tom’s just a guy in his living room doing everything that an entire division of Disney is dedicated to.
He truly is a marketing genius and a gifted rapper with a something that 99% of rappers don’t have in their music. Tom has something to say.
Often controversial in his lyrics, going against the mainstream narrative and arguing his point of view in a logical, clever and entertaining way.
Depending on where you stand politically is likely to determine whether or not you like him however either way I urge you to listen because you may get it.
All that political pigeon hole business the point I’m making here is Tom MacDonald is living proof you do not need a label to make it in the music industry. He has quite literally taken their rule book and ripped it up.
With 1.4m monthly listeners on Spotify he is doing pretty well on his own. Meaning their is hope for every single one of you writing music in your bedrooms thinking you’ll never make it.
You will, but you get out of life what you put in and Tom MacDonald literally gave everything he had to achieve what he has.

Horse Rescue Scams
I keep getting rec'd Horse Plus rescue on Youtube, but it's well-known amongst serious horse rescuers that the place is less of a rescue and more of a death camp for horses, and even traders/dealers in the area will say it. They kill anything that's a little too wild, old, or high maintenance, at least if it can't be milked for views and cash. They literally have a cremation oven on the property. Uh, most rescues do not have that nor do they need it.
Signs of a Bad Horse Rescue (based on what I've seen from Horse Plus and Colby's Crew Rescue, plus others)
They have a significant and slick social media presence, spending a ton on cameras and sound equipment
They almost exclusively show content that's meant to elicit a reaction: starved horses, severely injured horses, scared horses, horses in a "kill pen" with some kind of subtitle about how "they're all going to be killed if you don't give us $$$!"
They somehow find at least 5-10 severely sick/injured horses every time they go to an auction, and they come home with more than 10 horses. Unless they're privately funded by billionaires, no rescue has the resources to care for 50 new horses every month. Typically how they get these sad-looking horses is that they partner with horse traders, typically the worst ones, who will specifically go looking for these types of horses to bring directly to the rescue, thus hiding the individuals responsible for the horses' condition in the first place
Once the rescue is "done", you are not updated on any of the horses but a few specific, sad cases. Horses just "vanish" without a word. If it's Horse Plus, it means they've been executed and you have no clue why. They claim it's because the horse was already on death's door. But did they show the horse's condition? Did they explain all that was done to save the horse's life?
There seems to be lots of drama, constantly, that they have to talk/rant about. A professional organization is not going to mention this and will handle all affairs privately.
They're buying horses from "kill pen" pages on Facebook. Reputable rescues know that these pages are scams and that all they're doing is lining dealers' pockets. Many rescues don't have to buy horses from auctions at all, but if they do, they do it directly from the auction. They don't use dealers on Facebook.
They only seem to have a few adoptable horses, despite taking in tons every month from auctions or "kill buyers" (man of these folks aren't kill buyers at all, just horse traders who claim to be for emotional blackmail purposes)
There's one rescue on Youtube I've been following called Pony Tales that has all the marks of a LEGITIMATE rescue that does far more for horses than anything Horse Plus does. What I know about them:
They don't talk about drama on their channel beyond "we had an ice storm and now we can't go to the horse hospital!"
The auctions all happen off screen. All they do is show you the horses they purchased afterward, and it's a sustainable 4-8 horses. Very few of the horses are on death's door, so their conditions aren't easily milkable for online clout, but they ARE horses in need of a soft landing, mostly older Amish horses.
