Carissimi lettori, Lost in a Flashforward approda anche su Tumblr, continuando ad estendere il blog in modo da portare il nostro parere sul mondo del cinema e della TV in ogni angolo. Dall’inizio di questa lunga avventura, Lost in a Flashforward ha sempre cercato di stare al passo con tutti i titoli in uscita e man mano che si andava avanti, la cosa sembrava essere sempre più difficile. Con le pagine Facebook (e relativo gruppo), Twitter e Instagram (il cui esperimento sembra aver portato frutti, almeno finora), abbiamo compensato al problema, offrendo varie tipologie di post e contenuto nel miglior modo possibile e accontentando il maggior numero di utenti possibile. E a questo scopo, a partire da oggi, 01 Gennaio 2023, anche Tumblr diverrà casa nostra, nella speranza di poter raggiungere più persone e portare una maggiore varietà di contenuto per il nostro piccolo “brand”...

Bando alle ciance! Vi starete sicuramente domandando cosa avrà di differente questa pagina Tumblr. Sostanzialmente, la pagina verrà usata, come le altre, per divulgare le recensioni del blog principale, ma avrà anche qualcosina in più. Infatti abbiamo pensato di portare una vecchia rubrica del blog, vale a dire il LIAFF Special, su questa piattaforma, che a parer nostro, è molto più adeguata per ospitare articoli ricchi di informazioni e curiosità come quelli visti nel format in questione, con possibili sondaggi sulla scelta degli argomenti (che verranno pubblicati nelle altre pagine), e la pubblicazione sarà a cadenza mensile.

I got a take on the Danny is Damian's older brother au. He's Damian's brother but he's his adopted brother. So hear me out:

Danny is running away post TUE and he encounters some assassins. For whatever reason they get into a fight and he beats them. This ends up getting back to Ra's who is quite curious about who beat up his most prized assassins effortlessly. After some investigation, he extends an invite for Danny to train under him. On Danny's part, he jumps at the chance to disappear off the face of the earth and have a free place to stay.

Danny ends up being an absolute prodigy. This is him close to being Dan so his morals are much shakier. He doesn't leap at the opportunity to kill, but he's most definitely not above it if need be. Combine that with his ghost powers and personal training by Ra's himself and the guy becomes like the golden standard within the league. So much so to the point where Ra's even names him his heir and adopts him. Though Danny insists he is his adopted grandson and not adopted son.

Flashforward to Damian being born and Ra's obviously wants him to be his new heir. Not that Danny has any problem with this. He's very clearly Ra's favorite considering the things he's allowed to get away with. Like letting targets go, having worldly possessions in his room (TV, gaming console, computer, etc), and even befriending his subordinates (Ra's particularly doesn't like that one but knows Danny will never allow it to become a weakness for him). Even if Danny wasn't the heir, he would still maintain a significant level of authority within the league (again not that he cares about having power as long as there's a roof over his head).

The problem is, Damian can't compete with Danny. After all, who could match up to a highly trained half ghost with dubious morals? Let alone a kid. Too bad Ra's doesn't see it that way. He sees Damian as a failure who will never measure up to Danny. That's why he sends the boy off to live with his father. It's under the excuse that he'll be receiving a different sort of training but in reality, the Demon Head no longer wants anything to do with his biological grandson.

Obviously this turns into quite the complex for Damian. Meanwhile Danny absolutely adores Damian. From the moment he was introduced to the baby he was ecstatic. He'd always wanted to be an older brother. He would constantly be barging into Damian's room to hang out and whenever they'd sparred together, he'd try to let him win. Ra's quickly caught onto that one and put a stop to it immediately though. Basically Danny is Damian's League of Assassins version of Dick. An example of what he's supposed to be that he will always compare himself to (and that also has no idea what personal space is).

Danny loved his little brother so much that he even managed to get a mission to Gotham about a year after Damian had been sent there in order to surprise him with a belated birthday present.

The bats are absolutely shocked with an assassin suddenly charges at Damian and before anyone can react, scoops him into a hug. Damian is screeching bloody murder as he attempts to get Danny to let him go. Danny is just hugging him while saying stuff like "I missed you little brother" and "You've grown so much since I last saw you" all while avoiding knives to the chest.

The bats get shocked x2 because wait.... little brother!? Talia had another child!? And one far older than Damian to boot. Damian is quick to clarify that Danny is adopted while still trying to stab him. Imagine the boy's horror and Danny's delight when he gets invited back to the batcave to speak further.

some midge/susie thoughts (and a few other things!) on the final episode:

that scene in the restaurant was just gorgeous, god damn. susie explaining her past with hedy, so poignant and beautifully acted (DAMN, we are losing one of the great tv performances with alex borstein as susie!) and even though it was just one monologue it painted such a rich picture that it told you all you needed to know.

and midge being like “i know exactly what she saw in you” and then saying she thinks susie will fall in love again and susie asking her “were you ever a blonde”??? like, the underlying vibe of susie being like “i’m in love with you and it’s dumb and i’m dumb and it will never go anywhere and i’m resigned to that, i’ve always been resigned to that, i can’t believe i fell for another impossible rich girl” but midge being like “uh actually maybe it’s not so dumb because i completely adore you and you’re my #1 life partner and the only one who truly understands this fire of ambition that drives me at my core* because you feel that way too” felt so tantalizingly just around the corner. it felt just like how i always imagined romantic feelings between them would bloom if they ever did, so it was surreal and dreamy to feel like i was watching a tiny bit of that unfold onscreen before my eyes.

(* i mean, lenny also understands it, but he was like her handsome man comic fairy godmother more than ever destined to be an everyday presence in her life.)

and midge saying in her standup that she doesn’t think she’s gonna have a permanent life partner-y relationship with a man anymore? and then she doesn’t? HELLOOOOOOO!

that shot of susie putting her hand to her heart and her and midge gazing at each other after midge’s standup ............ gorgeous!! gorgeous!!!!!

them as old ladies calling each other to watch jeopardy on vhs together and press play at the exact same time! midge being all fancy and susie being a bird hippie! midge sending susie a bird! susie naming the bird “whore”! making each other laugh so, so much, calling back to midge wanting to marry someone who makes her laugh!!!!! bro, i can’t believe i just watched midge and susie do grace and frankie romance.

45 YEARS TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this just felt very “if i want to make this romantic then i can because it’s all there” and i’m so pleased and pleasantly surprised. i think they really (deliberately?) leaned into the subtext in these last episodes to very wonderful and rich effect.

also, this episode was just so, so charming and fun! i was surprised that we didn’t get more flashforwards with all the other characters, but actually i like the idea of just having those moments as sort of snapshots of future life rather than definitively told stories. and all the supporting characters really got moments to shine and it was delightful and warm. (and imogene was there! in her black beret! imogene!)

also, moishe and shirley in the shower, lololololololol!!! that was incredible. i wish that would happen to all my otps who need some epiphany time.

and abe and rose trying to summon the cab was a beautifully choreographed exercise in silliness that really just felt so ASP in the best way.

joel was very, very sweet in this episode. good on you, joel!

i am sad that we didn’t get to see midge & susie’s makeup scene from the 90s!!! but also: how fun to imagine in fanfic. in my fanfic they kiss and no one can stop me.

no other show will ever play this much barbra streisand in the soundtrack and that makes me sad. :’( every single time i heard her wonderful voice bless a montage on this show my heart soared.

i loved this season and I LOVE THIS SHOW! what a great show to have five seasons of to rewatch forever, knowing that midge and susie will be together for the rest of their lives (w/ one tragic five year blip) living complicatedly & soulmates-ily ever after! beautiful work, palladinos! thank you and goodnight!

This got me thinking. Before the cheating, I headcanon MC talking to ex like when they are watching TV and doing something domestic while talking about the future, they say “since as I was a kid, I always had thought of having a daughter. I want to name her Rose” The ex will go, “like the flower?” MC smiles, “like the flower.” Flashforward, years later. The ex meets MC again, holding their daughter and a wedding ring on their hand. They look happier and lighter than they last saw them. The ex asks, “what’s her name?” MC replied, “Rose.” The ex smiled albeit strained”like the flower?” MC affirmed, “like the flower.”

If the cheating never has happened, they could have a daughter that MC wished for that they would want to name Rose. But that never happened, the affair happened, the divorce happened, then they went to become strangers with memories. They meet each other again, this time MC has someone who had helped them find happiness and made them believe that it’s not too late and now started a family, they have this little girl with MC’s eyes and hair, mixed with features that they weren’t familiar with. The girl’s name was Rose, that name that was so sacred to MC and was their dream that they now made alive. It had become that little girl’s name.

What do you think the ex’s thoughts were before the cheating that MC shared their dreams, and imagine their child? And after the divorce, MC find happiness with someone and MC’s wished daughter has now become their reality, named Rose?

zolu lounging on the couch with zoro showing luffy some hyperfixation of his and then yamato comes back home(because this place feels like home now cryinggg) . his eyes immediately light up on seeing what zoro is showing luffy because hey that's yamato's favorite too!

flashforward to an hour later when ace returns home to find zoro and yamato talking in what seemed like another language entirely with fandom related complicated terms and luffy is just sort of watching them while eating popcorn which he passes to ace. they both pretend to be jealous but HONESTLY, they find the sight of their boyfriends talking so excitedly so cute (especially for luffy, because zoro doesn't warm up to everyone easily)

Clementine laid in your arms as she feed. Her eyes were shut as she slept, her hand was rested on your chest clutching at your pendent necklace that said Mama. It's been three weeks since she was born and it's been a joy. You and Jack thought it would be hard adjusting with a toddler and a newborn, but to both your surprise Rosie was very excited about her baby sister.

she always wanted to be around her and hold her. She was obsessed with her and you weren't against it.

The bedroom door cracked up. You looked up to the door to see Rosie. She stood there with a smile on her face and Her pink bunny stuffie tucked under her arm.

"good morning baby girl." You motioned for her to join to which she ran over to the side of Jack's bed.

"where's daddy?" She asked as she pulled herself up onto the bed. She cuddled into your side and looked at clementine.

"Daddy went out to get us some breakfast."

She mumbled an ok. "Can I hold my baby?"

You laughed. "Your baby?"

Rosie nodded and looked up at you. "Yeah my baby."

You shook your head and laughed. "You're silly. After she's done eating you can hold her." Rosie nodded. "Let's watch some cartoons until then."

You put on the TV for Rosie to watch and continue to feed clementine. When she was all done you burped her, the whole time Rosie was begging to hold her.

"mama now I hold her?"

"is now the time?"

After a good few minutes of hearing that you finally allowed her to hold Clementine.

"support her head." You whispered as you helped Rosie hold her. Rosie smiled softly as she looked down at her baby sister. A few coos left clementines lips as she adjusted to the new set of arms.

"she's so tiny." Rosie whispered as she looked down at her. "Yeah she is tiny." You smiled as you looked at your two most important humans in your life. You didn't understand how you got so lucky with them. You were extremely grateful to have them in your life.

"hi sissy. It's me Rosie." You watched as clementine let out a quick smile. Rosie gasped and turned to you. "Mama did you see that? She just smiled at me!"

You laughed, "yeah she did."

Rosie giggled and looked back at her tiny sibling. "Oh I love her." Rosie leaned down and kissed clementine forehead. You started to get choked up do you how adorable this was.

"did I miss the party invite?"

You looked up to the door to see jack standing with your guys breakfast. "Daddy she smiled at me!!"

"that's very amazing bug." Jack smiled. He walked over to his side of the bed and took in the sight of his two babies. He wish they'll stay this small forever, but he knew they wouldn't. That's why he was going to make the most out of these moments while he could.

Okay as my all-time favourite Ted lasso artist and blog; what are your honest thoughts about the finale episode??

i've still only seen the episode once but just for you, sweet nonnie, i will rewatch it for more thoughts, but for now:

LOVED probably 80-90% of the episode and it was bittersweet and emotional af

every single one of the callbacks made me so happy especially the offside and nate's play

the so long, farewell scene?? are you kidding me???

trent. TRENT. my sweet gal. my little guy. i'm glad we got a final few ted/trent scenes in there and so grateful for the crumbs and mr lance's wardrobe.

i'd hoped for the whole season they weren't gonna do the love triangle thing with roy & jamie again, but unfortunately they did and even left it till the finale which was disappointing, but i did like how they resolved it, even if the throuple didn't happen (:/ or at least didn't happen onscreen)

i needed more nate this episode - i was hoping he wouldn't return just as a kitman and i wanted to see how that conversation went, but as always nick delivers on the stuff he DID get and i'm eternally grateful for his presence in the show

seeing the full diamond dogs just brings me so much fucking joy god i love six (6) men

barbara is such a little freak i love her and everything about her

one final triumph of tony head's rupert was incredibly satisfying to see i love old men. but WHERE IS BEX. i needed to see the rebecca/bex/ms kakes revenge storyline

re. the tedbecca of it all, i really thought they were gonna do it till the airport scene and am still surprised they didn't, which meant that the first fakeout scene was absolutely uncalled for and felt really in bad faith after the fact, even as a person who does not actively ship them

now for the stuff i REALLY. really. did not like, as evidenced by a number of dozens of tweets and two long stern worded replies in brendan's ama: absolutely unbelievable that beardjane were endgame when basically no other established ships/relationships ended up being endgame. very disappointed about the direction the show took them in and the writers' not realizing how harmful it can be to celebrate a toxic and abusive relationship. most important i think beard deserves better than jane but maybe that's just the beard fan in me talking.

i wish ted & beard would've had a deeper conversation re. jane & leaving london before they literally got on the flight, and gave us more resolution with these two men whom i dearly love and want to see more of - it does NOT help when brendan says they "don't see each other for years" because cmon. this is a feel good tv show. you don't have to bring your "real life friendship" stuff into here. make us feel good about ted leaving please.

and finally, ted leaving, which i definitely expected. i just didn't expect that the people trying to make him stay to not have any effect on him at all. i agree with others that ted seemed quite distanced and detached for the whole episode, but they'll most likely never end up addressing this ever again. i wish he'd explored more options than just "leave permanently and never come back" - and ended up being the same place he started before he came to london, but i appreciate the effort he is making for henry.

as for the future of the show, i hope there'll be a spin off with maybe some of the existing characters but definitely a whole new showrunning/writing/creating team, i would love to see other's interpretations for the characters & universe i've grown to love over the past year and a half.

so yeah, that's about all i can think of re. the finale. i was holding out for the last 15 mins of flashforward montage to be a dream sequence but brendan debunked that theory pretty definitively yesterday, so there's that. i appreciate the show for what it was to me and forgive it for what it wasn't, and i will still be enjoying the bits i enjoyed from it wholeheartedly - it was not a perfect show, but it was a great show to have enjoyed over the past year and a half and to have shared with the rest of y'all. i cannot wait to see what the universe, and everyone who was involved with the show will go on to do next and you'll be damned if i wasn't gonna follow jimmy lance's career until he is fully out of work. richmond till we die <3

Il 2023 è stato un anno abbastanza strano, fra un doppio sciopero ad Hollywood e una marea di eventi che hanno sconvolto, e tutt'ora sconvolgono, il panorama mondiale. Ma, a prescindere da tutto, Lost in a Flashforward ha provato ad essere sempre presente per voi, e continueremo a farlo anche in questo nuovo anno. A questo scopo, volevo elencarvi una serie di novità che riguardano la pagina, nonchè mostrarvi quanto Lost in a Flashforward si sia espanso su diverse piattaforme, in modo da venire incontro ad ogni tipo di pubblico ed esigenza.

Parlando sempre di rubriche, stavo pensando di farne una a tema cinematografico, dove i film che ho "scartato" fra una serata e l'altra saranno oggetto di un sondaggio, dove sarete voi a dirmi a quale titolo dovrei dare una seconda possibilità, con tanto di recensione che verrà postata in una delle nostre pagine. Questa rubrica potrebbe iniziare fra 2-3 mesi, ma vi farò sapere di più nelle prossime settimane.

FUTURO APPRODO SU YOUTUBE

Come già annunciato su Instagram qualche settimana fa, si sta valutando la possibilità di approdare su YouTube con un canale, dove, attraverso dei video dettagliati, si affronteranno argomenti legati al mondo dell'intrattenimento o verranno analizzati serie e film celebri con una prospettiva più onesta, paragonabile a una chiacchierata amichevole. Il canale verrà aperto nei prossimi mesi, non appena avrò i mezzi e l'ambiente adeguato per procedere, quindi restate sintonizzati per sapere quando inizierà questo nuovo percorso.

I was honestly expecting the most romantic season of tv I'm not kidding bc what do you mean soulmates who are separated by a love curse that's such an incredibly good plot, the stuff of dreams ships never get. But let's be real they kinda botched it, no matter how it turns out, we had half a season where they barely interacted and we're never going to see their big moments together and them being madly in love and solving crimes together and protecting each other and moving in together and getting engaged( I had this wish that it would be Nancy who proposes bc it would be such a big thing coming from her and for ace to see someone actually want that with him, it would mean so much growth for both of them). Now all we can hope for is they don't slap us with Tristan and Nancy as soulmates, give us as many moments of them together and give us a flashforward of their happily ever after ..

I was expecting that too, especially after the first 3 swoonworthy episodes of the season. I thought, this is THEIR season. But boy, did it go downhill fast. Episode 4 had NO Nace interactions, and then 5-7 just had painful ones (how many times did they break up again?). Episode 8 seemed promising...but then 9 and 10 ruined it again with no interactions. Now we're heading into episode 11 with both Nancy and Ace seemingly falling for their new supernatural love interests and it's like WHAT? With only 3 episodes left to go? Make it make sense!

Obviously, they were hoping for a season 5, and they wrote the season with that in mind. But that tells me if we had gotten a season 5, this still would've been dragged out well into next season. So the only solace I can take with all this is that it's a good thing they found out the show was canceled before they finished writing the final episode. Because if it had been canceled after, then the series would've ended with Nace not together. And even if it had been renewed for a season 5, with the writers/actors on strike for who knows how much longer, there's a chance next season would've eventually gotten cancelled anyway, or it would have at least extended a Nace endgame for another year or more. This way, although it's going to be rushed af, we're still going to end the series with the knowledge that Nancy and Ace are together and in love.

I am hopeful we'll get a little flash-forward epilogue that might show Nancy and Ace married, or at least engaged. Bonus points if they show us one of them proposing. I'm just not sure how they would fit that into the finale, but it's really all I want at this point. I'm so sad that so many opportunities were wasted this season (that should have been NACE slow dancing!). This was supposed to be their season to shine. And it started out so promising! I have no idea how or why they lost sight of the plot so heavily, but they did. And I know some people will say, "You know, this show isn't just about Nace" and while that's true, once you make your titular character and another main character star-crossed lovers and add in something like a curse keeping them apart, you're kinda making them the main focus—especially when you drag it out until the very end. So, it's understandable that a lot of us are solely focusing on Nace and how disappointed we are. We expected more. We deserved more. But that's just my opinion.
