Re: Golda Meir -- I was one of the two El Al 747 pilots when Golda flew to Washington to meet with Nixon after the Yom Kippur war in 1973. She and her team were on the upper deck, which was closed to other passengers who had no idea Golda was on board.
They also didn't know that this was no ordinary El Al TLV-JFK flight. We actually were going to land in DC first, deplane Golda and her team, then take off for New York.
At one point during the flight Golda came to the cockpit to say hello, which she did in her inimitable way. Holding her purse down by her side, she said, in English (someone must have tipped her off that I was American, though by then I spoke perfect Hebrew) "Hello boys, and thank you." "Thank YOU, Golda," the cockpit crew replied in unison.
Toward the end of the flight we announced to the passengers that Golda was on board and that we were going to land in Washington for a bit before heading on to New York. According to the cabin crew the passengers let out a rousing cheer and not one complained.
It was one of the great honors of my aviation career.

A hero in the sky: During a routine flight with EL AL (Israel's national airline carrier) from Israel to Morocco, one of the passengers had a heart attack, and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in Greece. Before being evacuated by local health officials, the passenger expressed his concern about being hospitalized in a foreign country, and in an incredible and compassionate move, one of the flight attendants, Tom, decided to accompany him during the hospital stay. "I treated him as if he were my own family.
"StandWithUs is proud to partner with EL AL on the 'EL AL Ambassadors' program, where top pilots and flight personnel meet groups around the world during their layovers and, in uniform, tell them about the real Israel through their eyes.

i want to believe that the other batboys get so caught up in how damian NEVER acts like a normal child, that whenever they see him engaging in regular kid activities™ everyone is on high alert whilst trying to preserve the moment.
tim's with kon and they walk past jon's room to see him and damian playing toy cars? they start walking faster until they're a safe distance away, to stop in their tracks and share a mutual "what the fuck???"
jason and damian are arguing, something jason says strikes a nerve, and damian just stops and breaks the stoic act. jason has NO clue what to do with himself, because nothing he's ever said has gotten a non-violent reaction out of the kid.
dick's taking damian to the cinemas, and lets him pick what they watch. damian picks a kids movie, and doesn't make comments about it seeming 'childish' or 'boring', instead he looks genuinely interested. dick goes along with it but is really taken aback.
damian's patrolling with the other boys, and sustains a mild injury. everyone's used to him fixing himself up and never making a big deal out of it. they've seen him break bones and refuse medical attention, mainly because of how the league trained him. so when they get back to the batcave, and are all getting fixed up in the infirmary, everyone's shocked when damian, sitting to the side about to patch himself up, starts crying, because he's exhausted and hurt.
whenever the boys see damian asleep anywhere but his room, they make sure to tip-toe past and tell the others not to wake him. usually when this happens it's because he's been so exhausted, that he's sat down to watch a show, been playing with titus, or doing schoolwork, and he's just fallen asleep in the middle of it. afterwards, dick especially, makes sure that damian's sleeping enough, which is hard, because no one can tell that he's tired until he physically passes out.

Technology On Vacation – Love It or Leave It
This topic has been discussed before. I may add a new twist. Perhaps not. Hopefully, we all go on enjoyable vacations. I’ve been to Israel, Ireland, Italy, and Iceland. You can see I like “I” countries. Toss in Austria, Czech Republic, England, Hungary, Germany, Russia, Spain, and a few islands. Most of the time, I travel solo. Last year, I went to Israel with my mom—her first time. I was the…

El Al flight delayed after Stowaway Birds refuse Mixed Gender Seating
By Yekutiel Bornstein & Mark Levy Last Updated 8/29/2023 at 12:50 PM Ben Gurion Airport, Terminal 3: The Times of Israel reported Monday that an El Al flight from Tel Aviv to New York was delayed due to stowaway birds in the cargo hold. Yet the story failed to report the specific reasons for the delay: numerous birds refused to sit next to birds of the opposite gender for reasons of religious…

Israel’s resilience in the wake of the Oct 7 onslaught has astounded many of its overseas supporters and opponents alike. Israel is making an astonishing comeback, as this week’s positive newsletter highlights.   On the Jewish New Year for trees, JNF-USA volunteers planted thousands of trees at the site of the devastated NOVA music festival. Israel’s largest printing press resumed operation 3 days after Hamas overran the kibbutz. The IDF brought back a tractor stolen by Hamas on Oct 7 from Gaza to its kibbutz owners. Wounded IDF soldiers are being brought back to health thanks to heroic rescues, surgeons using hi-tech medical technology, and empathic volunteers providing rehabilitation, respite, and emotional support.   Aside from the war, Israeli medical technology brought back the ability to communicate to a paralyzed Israeli woman. And an Israeli startup won an international award for regrowing human bone tissue. Meanwhile, two initiatives are restoring trust between Israeli Jews and Arabs.   Israelis are helping the USA bring its aging power grid back to life; and an Israeli startup is recycling waste into fashion products. Israel’s economy is certainly coming back, and a new Resilience fund is helping war-impacted startups make a comeback. Meanwhile El Al is increasing its flights to bring back tourists and to encourage international business.   The warm winter and welcome rains have brought back color into Jerusalem’s streets; Israel’s ice hockey team came back from being banned from a tournament, to winning all its 5 games; and Israel just celebrated the 20th anniversary of its greatest ecological comeback – the rehabilitation of the Hula Valley.   Finally, "they will all come to Jerusalem" – as the world gradually recognizes that the Jewish People have come back to their ancestral homeland, the Indigenous peoples of the world have opened an embassy in Jerusalem. The photo is of the Netanya offices of Elbit Systems, which has helped Israel make a fighting comeback.

Favorite headcanon of mine is that Tim and Damian have to constantly deal with their friends crushing on Batman and Nightwing.
Kon Kent: How old is your brother—
Tim: TOO OLD FOR YOU, AND HE’S MARRIED
Damian pretends he didn’t just hear a civilian say “smash” to Batman in a smash or pass/FMK.
Tim lives in Fear of Bernard in particular saying ANYTHING about the Batfam. Bernard says he’d let Batman raw him and Tim’s ready to off himself.
Damian just seethes every time Garfield looks ready to tell the equivalent of a “me and your mom last night” joke about Dick.

Florida the only US state where El Al will service two cities
Israel’s national carrier recently relocated its American headquarters from N.Y. to the Sunshine State. In a reflection of growing ties, Florida will soon be the only U.S. state where El Al will service two major cities, Gov Ron DeSantis said Thursday. Israel’s national carrier, which recently relocated its U.S. headquarters from New York to Margate, Florida, will offer direct service to Tel…
