Hello, how are you? I hope you're doing okey so I see that you are taking request again I wanted to know if you could do a Derek Hale x reader when they have Eli and he is at the stage where he's learning how to talks and he only knows how to say his last name so when Derek and reader leave Eli on peter's watch and at one moment Eli is missing his parents so he goes to Peter and says his last name and Peter just don't understand why he is saying that and Eli ends up crying so Peter calls Derek because poor uncle Peter don't know what to do, just something funny and chaotic please ( sorry if this long and if you don't understand everything it's because english is not my first language so I might have confused everything ).

“did you get this on tape?” you asked excitedly and Derek agreed in a murmur. You looked at him and your eyes automatically filled with tears as you saw him with a few tears streaming down his face. he was completely dazzled.

Hale.

It was baby Eli’s first word.

You were playing with the child when he randomly dropped the word. Derek was filming the moment unpretentiously as he always did to keep all possible memories of his little family, and he got to record this moment. It was magical.

“of all the words, he had to chose Hale” Derek said as he hugged you from the side and looked fondly at the baby carefully positioned on the floor with his toys.

“what can I say? He is just like his mama” you joked, hugging him back while laying your head on his shoulder.

You knew exactly why Eli chose that word.

You were Scott and Stiles’ classmate and when the supernatural world began to take over the town, you found yourself in a pack full of scared and inexperienced teenagers. Scott and Stiles took you in and explained what was going on, after you were caught in the middle of the crossfire between hunters and werewolves. Suddenly this bunch of teenagers were best friends and together they were fighting supernatural and human threats.

And there was Derek Hale.

A sourwolf who after so many losses, had to deal with these teenagers full of doubts and fears.

The moment you laid your eyes on Derek you knew your heart was his. And he knew that too, he wanted to love you. But you were too young, it was totally against his morals. And then you went away to study in another state, all of you did. Derek would never admit it but he missed you, missed your irony, missed your passionate glances, your contagious laugh.

He didn’t expect that after a few years you would come back to the city, but your father was sick, he needed you. And it was supposed to be for a while, until you decided to stay. You got a job, got your own apartment, and settled in.

You never imagined that your story with Derek would unfold, indeed you never thought that he would even look at you with second thoughts. The way you looked at him. But you decided to give each other a chance. And it worked, you were perfect for each other. Until a few months after you started to get involved, you found out that Derek’s one-night stand had resulted in a baby. It happened way before you moved back to the city, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt. It did.

But you learned to deal with it and you were willing to help in Eli’s upbringing. You loved him as if he were your own.

Since your school days you have never been able to call Derek by his name. He never really understood why, but you were too embarrassed to address him by his first name so you chose to call him by his last one. Hale. And everyone got used to it, at one point it even became cute. And even after you were together, you didn’t lose that habit, what you didn’t expect is that your son would use that as his first word.

“morning sunshine. the party is about to begin” you exclaimed excitedly as soon as Peter opened the door and he let out a grunt. He had just woken up.

“jesus, i don’t remember arranging that so early”

“what better way to start the day if not with your adorable nephew”

You said, passing the baby into Peter’s arms, and you could see how his face lit up with the baby’s presence. A smile immediately broke out on his face.

“this is not the first time, so I don’t need to remind you of the rules, also I am very eager to enjoy the day with my boyfriend, so I’m gonna get going” You let out a mischievous smile and Peter rolled his eyes.

“first of all, gross. Second, the Hale’s men are ready to take over the town” you laughed leaving them alone.

“okay pal, it’s just you and me and a whole day ahead of us. You have to help me” Peter talked to the baby as if he was understanding. It was comic.

He was preparing breakfast when Malia and Parish arrived at the house.

“check it out, looks like we have company today”

Malia said, changing her voice tone and moving towards the baby. She absolutely hated pda, but when there’s a baby as cute as Eli in the house, she couldn’t help herself.

“thank God you arrived. He is here for like an hour and has cried at least three times” Peter spoke and the couple could see the desperation in his eyes, making them laugh.

“he’s a Hale, it’s not like he’s easy to deal with” Parish said and both Hale’s looked at him with deadly eyes. He laughed and went into the kitchen, trying to get out of they sight “Sorry”

“did he just say Hale?” Parish asked as the three looked stunned at the baby playing on the floor.

“i guess so” Malia replied and they could see how Peter was smiling. “look at this, uncle Peter is getting emotional”

“shut up” Malia and Parish couldn’t hold their laugh.

What they could not imagine, was that from that moment on baby Eli would not stop crying and repeating his last name for the rest of the afternoon.

“I think he’s broken” Malia said as she shook some toys in front of the baby on Parish’s arms, trying to get him to stop crying.

“dont be stupid, Malia” Peter said with his hands on his head, he couldn’t stand to hear the child’s crying anymore “okay I’m gonna call Derek”

“he’s gonna get crazy, I don’t think it’s a good idea” Malia warned.

“well I don’t know what else to do” Peter said desperately as Eli continued to mumble the word Hale non-stop. “then I’ll call y/n I’m sure she won’t want to kill me”

You and Derek were in the middle of a make-out session when the phone started ringing. You declined the first time, but the fourth time it was impossible.

“jesus christ Peter, what happened? Is everything okay?” You answered preoccupied and you could see Derek’s watchful eyes. He was listening to the conversation.

“Ok don’t go crazy about it, the baby is fine, I’m the one who isn’t” This only made you even more worried. Derek was already starting to get out of bed and look for his clothes.

“why? What happened?”

“there’s the thing! I don’t know! Eli started to cry and hasn’t stopped for at least a couple of hours”

“did you try-“

“yes I did” he cut you.

“but the-“ you tried to say and he cut you off again.

“i tried absolutely everything that you can imagine”

You could sense the tiredness in Peter’s voice and the baby crying in the background.

“he’s not in pain. I tried that too”

“okay we’re coming to rescue you” you said as you finished getting dressed and noticed Derek grabbing the car keys.

“thanks” he mumbled and you laughed.

“he’s okay baby, don’t worry” you said comforting Derek already in the car and he sighed.

“yeah I know”

As soon as you opened the door, you could see what a mess the house was. Toys everywhere, Malia and Parish sitting on the couch and Peter pacing up and down with a crying baby on his arms. Peter was defeated. Eli had swollen eyes from crying and you could see that he was desolated.

“Hale” Eli muttered and stretched his arms out the second Derek entered his field of vision.

“oh hi baby boy” Derek said walking towards him.

The moment Derek held him in his arms, the crying ceased. His little head rested against Derek’s big shoulders and he was now letting out little sighs.

Your heart melted watching that scene and the urge to cry was huge.

“really?” Peter said and the three of them watched the scene in disbelief.

“so hale is Derek? He kept saying that all afternoon” Parish commented and you nodded.

“I can imagine why” Malia said sarcastically looking at you and you felt your face turn red.

“Well what can I say if he’s just like his mama” You joked and let out a laugh.

All this time the baby was just missing you guys, especially Derek.

He really was just like you.

Heather, we gotta talk about Peter and Lydia's dynamic, and then how he 'grew'???? Into his relationship with Malia. I mean like kind of insane of him to use Lydia as a soul capsule???? Then just letting her run around??? Then trying to manipulate her into thinking about everything???

i had to sit with this one a little bit to collect my thoughts about lydia and peter.

i'm sure what attracts people is that there's this element of perspheone and hades, of lydia's decent into the world of the supernatural because of peter, that he drove her into some form of madness with the two of them.

peter got lucky with lydia.

her being a banshee along side the connection between an alpha and someone they bit pulled his ass out of the afterlife.

him being his high-school self? was it a manipulation? did peter even have control of it? was it lydia's banshee powers? was it them both seeking a connection in a form lydia would be more comfortable with? less likely to be suspicious of?

in 6a lenore is able to create a manifestation of her deceased son. banshee powers are ill-defined in canon because it seems they are limitless and entirely unique to the banshee forged by their trauma and circumstance.

it's no coincidence to me that lydia under the tutelage of meredith is finally able to control and purposefully use her powers to save malia. lydia's loss of allison is a well spring of trauma, of pain and grief for her. she would do anything to not have someone else she cares about die knowing she could've done something to prevent it.

and also lydia is someone who spent a lot of time not using her voice, hiding behind a mask of the popular queen bee persona and when she does find her voice it becomes her greatest weapon. lydia's being true to herself and using her voice saves mason, stiles, malia and deaton. the wool is fully removed from her eyes. her powers let her perceive beyond the veil to the deepest truth of them all -- death.

the thing about peter is he's clever, cunning and manipulative but this man is also a hale so he's also in turn somewhat reckless and dramatic at all times. peter knows no chill and he will recognize no chill. you commit to your goddamn bit.

during peter's time as an alpha he only bites two people. scott and lydia. scott was bitten because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time but lydia was bitten deliberately.

s2 makes it clear that peter knew she wasn't going to turn but instead her banshee abilities were going to go from being passive to active. it was also a chance to intimate and strong arm stiles with lydia's life on the line.

as with many things with peter there's multiple reasons but i think he knew very quickly what she was when he encountered her in the tell.

going back to season 1 there were hints of lydia's banshee nature but none were as big as the tell. lydia arriving at the video store coincided closely with the death of the clerk. peter was even still lurking on the premises.

her powers were always there just latent.

alpha peter dicks around with terrorizing jackson and than bursts out only to startle lydia who screams. this moment is captured on the cctv footage which the the sheriff shows deaton stills from. this is also a moment when i think deaton begins to realize what's up.

i think lydia's scream brought peter out of his alpha form. a few episodes later is night school where peter brings all his people of interest to one place to have a really intense game of hide and seek, casual murder and attempts at intimidation. it wasn't just scott he was scoping out is what i'm saying. it's lydia's molotovs that eventually kill him. she's connected to both his death and resurrection.

i think peter knew he was on limited time anyway towards the end either derek was going to kill him or the argents so he took precautions to resurrect himself and lydia just fell into his lap like a portent.

he has continued interest in her like the creep he is though. i don't buy for a second he felt cowed at all when she came to the loft at the end of season 3a when she was trying to get information on where the nemeton is.

i don't really think peter necessarily feels guilt for what he thinks are necessary actions and the most necessary thing of all is the continued survival of peter hale. he's a complicated man. like i think he feels regret at having killed laura but it was a necessary sacrifice to obtain the alpha spark. acting contrite with lydia keeps her from killing him basically.

but again peter is complicated and when he views someone as his in any way he will try to protect them even if it's against his instinct of self preservation.

we see this behavior with malia and derek and cora. even stiles.

but lydia and scott? they are his. he bit them. they're both his greatest successes and his greatest failures as an alpha. he will guard that jealously and revel in it. he will be a pain in their ass. he is their demon to wrestle.

Lol @ the people saying you're "bringing race into fandom". Transports me right back to 11th grade English when our teacher (instead of sacrificing us to the Nemeton) tried to teach us about analyzing race in popular media texts like Disney movies, and everyone in the class (bar myself and like 3 other people who had brains) started going on about how the critics she was having us read/watch were "bringing race into it". Like come on. This is grade school level theory. Read a book, people.

You want to know how I know that race is involved in the Sterek fandom?

Isaac Lahey.

(Before anyone gets upset, I appreciate Isaac's character as much as I appreciate Derek's and Stiles's characters, which is quite a bit.)

Let's review. Isaac is indeed abused and terrorized by his father, the same way Scott is abused and terrorized by Peter. Isaac threatens Stiles and bullies Stiles and Jackson far more than Scott "mistreats" Stiles and Jackson. He makes fun of Stiles and refuses to listen to him. Isaac resists Derek's teaching, to the point that Derek hurts him to teach him a lesson (the same way Derek hurts Scott to teach him a lesson). Isaac dates a hunter, Allison, and follows her through the woods and sneaks into her house. Isaac learns from Alan Deaton. Isaac refuses to be a part of the Hale Pack, like Scott does, but unlike Scott, he originally agreed to take the Bite and join the pack. In the end, he leaves Beacon Hills with Chris Argent, an actual hunter without a single word to either his alpha or his former-alpha.

So where the hell are all the Bad Friend Isaac stories?

I mean, if the nearly two-thousand tagged Bad Friend Scott Stories and the ten times as many stories that write Scott as a Bad Friend but don't label it are a result of Scott's on-screen behavior, then shouldn't there be at least a thousand stories that deal with Isaac in the same way? I would confidently estimate that there are less than a hundred. I can say with less confidence that there are less than fifty. There are even less that turn him into an antagonist or even a villain who must be punished, deprived of freedom, or murdered. I doubt you would break ten.

So what's the deal? If this has nothing to do with race and Sterek stories just require a bad-friend antagonist or an ineffectual villain, then it stands to reason that Isaac would sometimes fill that role, doesn't it?

Of course, their answer is that they don't like Scott, and I agree they have a right not to like Scott. But the funny thing is they won't -- they can't -- explain why they don't like Scott. It can't be because he acts as a selfless hero, because so do Derek and Stiles. It can't be because he says mean things to Derek, because they don't have any problem liking Isaac or Peter or Stiles. It can't be because he never listens to Stiles, because since when does any character always listen to Stiles? It can't be because he's in a problematic heterosexual relationship, because they don't have any problem with Isaac's or Derek's or Stiles's problematic heterosexual relationships.

And so on and so forth.

It's not just because he's the lead protagonist, because Scott being the Teen Wolf offers no obstacle at all to a Sterek relationship. He canonically loved both Stiles and Derek, and they loved him in return. But what Scott being the lead protagonist proves an obstacle for is either Stiles or Derek actually being the lead protagonist. The show was built around a Latino character and not the two white characters that this fandom has conjured a whole relationship about.

It's not -- nor has it ever been -- about what happened on the screen that causes people to dislike Scott. It's been about what didn't happen on the screen. Derek and Stiles had nearly ten times the amount of pre-canon flashbacks than Scott did, but that's not enough. You never saw Scott taking a few days or weeks off to contemplate his place in the world while sad classical music played in the background, but that's not enough. Melissa and Deaton always told Scott how he could be a better werewolf instead of getting his parking tickets erased or told that the easiest way to forgive himself is to forgive someone who didn't do anything to him, but that's not enough. Scott never got to beat Derek up because his decisions in Season 2 ruined his relationship with Allison, not the way Stiles got to hit Scott for his father getting hurt, but that's not enough. For as much as these white male characters received in terms of story, they still weren't the lead protagonist, and this creates the only explanation for the profound animosity which they exhibit toward Scott, one which they will claim the right to have but also feel they never ever have to explain. In addition, there is only one thing, no matter how much they can't say, that we must always remember.

BUT IT'S NOT RACISM.

well now that it's been a couple days since i watched the teen wolf movie and i've sufficiently forgotten 90% of it, i think it's time i told you all what i liked/disliked about it

1. jackson whittemore

he was just so fucking funny, like why was he even there?? did they give colton a script or did they just give him a recap of everything he missed in the show before simply throwing him on set and going "good luck."

i loved him though. it really feels like he's more comfortable in himself now. when he came back in s6, he wasn't as bitter but he still felt quite stiff. now he's comfortable in his sexuality and his place in the world, and he's no longer trying too hard. love that for him. his friendship with lydia also means a lot to me. i originally thought they were gonna put them back together, but i adore them as snarky besties.

also i'm glad they didn't break him and ethan up. we got our lgbtq+ scraps, guys!!

2. peter hale

hasn't changed a bit and i love it. his entrance was iconic and so fitting for his character. the tension between him and chris was obvious (perhaps because of melissa?) and i love how they still have an air of mystery when it comes to him. no one truly knows if he's on the good side or the bad.

also i can confidently say that peter crawling on the floor in human form, sniffing, was the absolute highlight of the movie.

3. eli hale

he was a great addition to the cast. i loved his relationship with derek, but him as a character really refreshed the film and gave us some wholesome but funny moments.

also we all know he's basically a stiles mini-me, so it was nice to have someone there to fill what the film would've been missing because of stiles' absense without full-out replacing him.

4. jr borne

his acting in the movie was absolutely outstanding. i was in shock. he was already amazing in the show but he's outdone himself. i really felt his emotions through the screen. literal chills. what a powerful performance!

5. the hellhound

i'm so glad they gave parrish an important role in the film. the hellhound was one of my favourite supernatural creatures from the show, so it was great to see ryan kelley shine once more.

6. coach finstock

he also has not changed a single bit and it's really refreshing to see. they didn't try to shoehorn him into the story too much. he simply played the part he always has, and made us laugh doing it.

7. the jeep

when they said the jeep would be featured in the film, i didn't think they meant they would try and stick it in every scene possible. i love it.

as a sterek shipper, i love the idea of eli nicking the jeep because he knows derek has some complicated feelings towards it. i won't do a sterek section on this list because i don't know whether i'm happy or mad about it, but this was an interesting addition to the film.

8. melissa had a crossbow

she had a crossbow. it's about fucking time.

now what i disliked:

1. the misuse of key characters

why were liam and mason used as side characters?? why did they barely speak, they're best friends?? why did they introduce hikari and not bother actually giving her a personality outside of being a kitsune?? i have too many thoughts on all of this, but it pissed me off.

2. just general confusion

they didn't specify if melissa and chris were still together or not. no explanation on why scott and malia split up. how did parrish and malia get together? who is eli's mum? why did liam have the nogitsune? why did scott and allison adopt eli?

also where has all the chemistry between the cast gone?? shelley especially felt so awkward with everyone. it's like they're not friends anymore, which i know isn't true.

3. the nudity and swearing

i could've gone my whole life without seeing allison, parrish and malia's bare asses. also the swearing was great, but they all felt like year 7's when they did it.

4. the returns

as someone who didn't really care for allison, her return was just annoying. out of all the characters they could've brought back, allison is the one they definitely should've left alone. hers was a major death in the show, and the start of a lot of character development for scott and chris. they should've come up with a different story not involving allison or the nogitsune. you know they only brought her back so that scallison fans can have their endgame.

and adrian harris?? what?? why?? he didn't even do anything of purpose in the film. what was the actual point in bringing him back??

5. derek's death

i'm not even gonna touch this. but i'm fuming.

Teen Wolf 1x09

The Chemistry teacher cleaning off what looks like an already cleaned chalkboard and sighing about it is hilarious to me. Have him kicking the photocopier after it errors out for the third time in the middle of making 200 copies of something, it would be way more realistic.

So I’m guessing this is Adrian Harris then, and he does actually know something about what’s happening.

The Alpha has fairly neat handwriting, good for them.

The little red x’s somehow make it funnier than crossed out names. Like, this dude went and found a different pen color for the drama.

Are we supposed to think that all the other Harris’ are dead or just not the right Harris? Could go either way with the Alpha.

Eliet is the weirdest way to spell that name that I’ve ever seen.

Oh, I’m sorry, Professor Adrian Harris. So this dude either taught college and got fired/lost his job but insisted on hanging onto the title or he’s got an advanced degree of some kind and doesn’t want to (or maybe can’t) get hired at a college. Yeah, he’s got enough of an ego that that tracks.

Eeewww, why is his hand wet?

Oh, hey, Laura Hale wrote that list! Clearly dramatics run in the Hale family.

First time we hear the Alpha! Absolutely no way to figure out who it is from the voice. But waiting so long makes this particular moment seem incredibly important.

Also, I’m assuming it’s only Alpha’s that go into this much larger, stereotypical werewolf shape, and that they’re the only ones with red eyes and voices that change.

Still don’t know why Scott and Fuckface have two different eye colors, and still don’t know why Laura was in the form of an actual wolf.

More than halfway through with the season and we still basically don’t know anything about werewolves. Awesome. Love that world building. Why would you have a werewolf mentor character and not actually use him for exposition about werewolves: their abilities, their culture, their history? Oh right, cause Derek is a fuckface, not a mentor.

I don’t buy that the cops got there when they did. They haven’t been very good at their jobs thus far, and there’s no reason to think that they’d spend all that manpower to surround the whole school.

Also, like, we didn’t get anything of importance so why the fuck did the Alpha even speak? That was badly done, imo.

It would have been funnier if Fuckface just holed up in the school and waited until the next day. Again, I don’t think they have that many cops and that school’s huge.

Also, didn’t the lacrosse field back up to the woods? Like, I feel like he could have snuck through the woods. But, whatever, we have foot chase, I guess.

Lol, poor Scott trying to drive Fuckface’s car while being chased by Kate. Awful position to be in, why are you even here?

Again I say, poor puppies.

So what we’re supposed to be getting from this is that Kate isn’t a very good driver and Chris isn’t a very good shot, right?

It’s fun how Fuckface takes absolutely no responsibility for the position he’s in. Completely blames it all on Scott, who, may I reiterate is a sixteen year old boy who literally did nothing wrong. Who was violently attacked, beat up multiple times, shot, stalked, had his mind manipulated, and threatened with murder.

All, while Fuckface did, what? I mean, like, obviously he came to Beacon Hills to follow his sister, found her dead, buried her and then did what? Like, Laura at least had a list of names and probably more than that. She was following some sort of clues, doing some sort of investigation, but all Fuckface has been doing was randomly tracking the Alpha’s scent, stalking Scott, threatening Scott, beating up on Scott, yelling at his comatose uncle, attacking Deaton, and almost getting dead twice.

How is it that he has way more puzzle pieces than Scott does, is way older than Scott, and yet is looking to Scott for plans, then getting pissy when those plans don’t work out? Like, he’s sixteen, back off. Fuck.

Sooo, Fuckface has had two months to talk to Harris or look through his shit and has done nothing with it? Sounds about right.

Aaand, now we have Allison’s necklace. Let me guess. They’re going to make Scott ask Allison about it instead of Stiles. Because it’s not like Stiles hasn’t been known to fixate on weird things and wasn’t the one recently broken up with.

Why aren’t the just researching the symbol like Allison did? Again, Stiles loves a good deep dive, why do we even need to start with the necklace that she only just started wearing like the week before.

Also, I reiterate, Fuckface has had two months with this knowledge and done nothing with it,

So did Fuckface infect Jackson with his memories? Or is Captain Douchebag a Hale by birth? Actually that would make so much sense considering his personality.

Jackson just asking a nurse to look something up on her computer is hilarious. I mean, the physical security has been a little lax, so I can’t imagine the computer security is much better, but still.

OH MY GOD, NO, WTF MRS MCCALL?! I expected you to say no! Massive breach in protocol: HIPAA violations, ethics violations, security violations. Anything he does under your password you would be liable for! You are breaking federal law!

Christ Jackson, you are a rich bitch and you couldn’t have looked that up on your own computer?

Oh good, a medical billing summary. SO MANY VIOLATIONS.

Also, the time on the computer reads 2:59 am.

Jackson does the same thing Fuckface does, he’s cruel and a bully to those he thinks are weaker and meek against those he thinks are stronger than him.

Funny how he both thinks Scott is weaker, but also thinks Scott is a werewolf.

So, one thing I really hate in this show is that no one tells anyone their plans before they do them, and it always ends badly. Like, I get that you want to keep the audience from knowing the plan, but it’s so stupid how everyone essentially works in silos so no one really knows what anyone else is doing. It’s like they’re working together, but not actually working together. I hate it.

Did Scott & Allison switch English classes or did Stiles & Lydia? Because this is the lady who ran the parent teacher conference for Lydia and Allison, but she is not the teacher in the pilot who was teaching Kafka to Scott, Stiles, and Allison.

Maybe she’s like a drama teacher? Sure, we’ll go with that.

Also, Othello is an interesting choice. Like, not for the jealousy part. But. The man of color marrying a white woman without her father’s approval who ends up killing her because of the machinations of someone else? I’m not, like, casting Fuckface as Iago here, but I’m not NOT casting him as Iago either.

Oh, poor Allison.

Scott is so clueless here. He shouldn’t be, but he is. You broke her trust, kiddo, which can often be much more fragile than love. You’re going to have to work to get that back.

Scott you are correct that you know nothing about girls, but she is being super rational from her point of view, not psychotic. Don’t be a dick just because you don’t understand.

Again, why should Scott steal the necklace? Stiles has stolen like at least three things successfully that we’ve seen. Wouldn’t it make more sense if it was him?

There are so many close ups on Jackson this episode I’m afraid the camera’s just going to go down his throat one of these scenes.

Funny how Jackson keeps calling Scott a cheater, but it’s clear that he doesn’t actually care about cheating because he wants the same abilities. I mean, I know he’s just using it as manipulation, but I hate entitled shits like that.

If they win tonight they’re in the semifinals after two months of playing? What kind of half assed season does lacrosse have?

I mean, I don’t like Lydia either and they totally shouldn’t be dating, but again, this cruelty for cruelty’s sake is so frustrating to watch.

Oh. Good. Fuckface is making more terrible choices. And still throwing teenage boys against walls and threatening them.

Once again, 16 year old boys are doing more investigating than the grown man. And once again this is more like a procedural than a werewolf show. I mean, I guess that’s a choice.

Scott, breaking into a hunter’s house that is also you ex girlfriend’s house is not a good idea, and I know that you’re not, strictly speaking, doing this for Fuckface, but I also need you to recognize that he would never do this for you.

Goddammit Stiles, I don’t even care that you’re technically helping, this is a personality trait of yours that I truly hate.

Why the fuck would Fuckface be in the room with Danny when he’s a known fugitive. Like, it’s not like I knew the faces of known fugitives when I was in high school, but if I was a baby hacker and someone attacked my bff and his girlfriend, I’d probably have a good idea of what he looked like.

Also, is Fuckface reading the dictionary? Yeah, that’s subtle.

So either Fuckface knows what’s happening and is playing along or he really is a complete moron.

Once again, I feel like he should be taking pictures of the book instead of looking up words he doesn’t know. Although he didn’t get caught, so go Scott, I guess.

Honestly, Melissa’s pretty lax with her computer security. It could be anyone. I wonder how the Alpha got from the school to the hospital and back again in such a short period of time particularly since the school is at least a mile away from anything as per a previous episode.

Bets that the Alpha has an accomplice?

Oh shit! Hold up. Is the Alpha actually Peter Hale and the accomplice his nurse? The nurse would have no problem walking into a hospital and using the terminal, but mostly we’ve seen her and Peter several times with no follow up so far. They have to be important.

Kate being, like, Hey, you don’t have to be psychotic to be a killer. And then she does something, uh, really freaking creepy. I think the sex and violence wires got intertwined in her brain.

Again, what is it with not sharing information? Scott didn’t mention the book, and Stiles didn’t mention the info about the text. Sharing info is better, my dudes. Informed decisions are better.

So, he got what Stiles was doing, went along with it, but then punished him for it violently later.

Why does everyone act like Scott should know things that are not obvious? Like, I’ve known people for years who don’t know what my name means. And, like, people aren’t stupid just because they don’t know French or whatever.

Question, did Jennifer, like, clear the building? Why is there no one anywhere?

Well, I mean, has Peter given up on Scott killing his ‘pack’ so that he can join Peter’s? Cause if not, then Stiles is safe. Fuckface isn’t safe, though, Peter, feel free to kill your nephew.

Also, did Peter turn Jennifer?

Apparently not.

His mind and personality was burned out of him and he killed Laura on instinct. Okay, that’s plausible. But, uh, the deer with the revenge spiral was three months ago and clearly was one of the things that got Laura looking into things back in Beacon Hills. Was that instinct too or was that premeditated to pull Laura back there to kill her and get the Alpha powers to push you over that plateau? I feel like the second is more likely.

So Harris had a drinking problem. Maybe that’s why he’s teaching high school now. And he knows nothing about werewolves, just twitchy about the Hale fire. I might buy that. I might not.

They show an awful lot of Fuckface crawling on the ground. He’s not very good in a fight.

Do you think Stiles ran? Probably not, but wouldn’t it be great if he did?

I was going to wait for dramatic flair, he says, being dramatic. Ugh. All of these Hale’s suck. I mean, I don’t know about Laura, but I’m guessing.

Kate’s gross. And also dumb. If Jackson had turned those scars would be long gone by now. Scott’s wound healed in less than 24 hours and it was much worse.

This is definitely a long time coming, but I finally wrote a text only fic for Sterek, complete with a stylized AND plain text view for reading! Also my first long fic that I've written since...I don't even know when (aka it's NOT a drabble or ficlet!!). This is also belated from July, but for reasons you can read more about below the cut. Some of my lovely Sterek friends know I've been dabbling in and out of writing text fics since last year (2022). Easier said than done 1000%, I'm going to tell you that right now. It only took me 3 tries to get it right! (And yes, it means my other 2 WIPs need to be reworked, le sigh.) It's one thing to write a text fic, but it's a completely different beast to style the damned thing with AO3 skins while making it as legible and accessible as possible. I thankfully know how to code in CSS and HTML, but it took me quite a long time to create a custom skin template that I liked and could reuse while getting the look and feel just right for our idiotic boys and the overall Teen Wolf world. Texting and sexting is legit an art. There are so many ways to approach how to write a text because each person does that differently. There's also intention required when using emojis, figuring out how someone would react to things, and hell, even playing around with timestamps and timezones is important. A text fic isn't just about words. All the tiny details add up and make a new experience. I think I took a full week to QA this whole fic because I wanted the aesthetic to look good, and it was worth it! It was nice to make something for myself, which let me write dialogue and banter and a lot of fun things I normally wouldn't had this been a different kind of fic. Super grateful for having a Write-A-Thon sprint weekend, which motivated me to finish the bulk of this baby up. And when I think about it now, this labor of love was originally supposed to be an experiment for me to play around and learn more about coding intricacies. It was supposed to be a short Porn without Plot thingie (but uhhh, it's definitely Porn with Plot and Feelings because that's the way it is). 1-2k words somehow became 8k+ words. No regrets though. It has been a long time since I've felt good about writing something this long and doing something different than the norm. It has been such a blast coming up with all the texts in this fic, because they're humorous and spicy with the usual banter and sarcasm we love between Derek and Stiles. But hey, there's some romantic angst too (they might be texting and using words, but they could do better, of course). Anyway, I hope you give this a read when you have a chance. Enjoy!

This is kind of a hard one, I feel like I shuffle around my style and so many of the highest kudos fics are not really representative of my strong suits since it's typically just a right trope at the right time that decides kudos counts so I can't just cheat and use those ones. Um... I guess for my own personal preference then my best written fic is probably The World is Round and the Sky is Infinite (Harringrove). Followed closely by There's Not Much Left (Deran/Adrian). Blue Stained Glass (Gallavich) was another that I think had solid writing in it. Will You Remember Me When I Can't Remember Myself? (Sterek) is decently written. There's some chapter gems in Uneasy In This Skin (Sterek). And what do they all have in common? Angst. So much angst.

Crying, sad Stiles is still the worst thing on the planet. I feel like I should point out that the second line of that last one is: Of his own apartment. (because he's drunk and being a fool).

I'm bad at picking stuff apart because I always feel like that's not the point, the point is to just sit down and write. Have fun. Maybe learn a few things along the way, maybe not. The only person that needs to enjoy the process is the writer, it's just a bonus if the readers do too. And it always makes my day if one of them does :)

And looking at some of these standing alone makes me wonder why anyone keeps reading, lol! I salute all of you who made it past those first lines :)

My #1 post of 2022

I didn’t think I’d have anything to post this week but I guess the good part of having about half a dozen 20k+ documents that I’ve been pouting over for months just lying around means I can pick a poison and start drinking.

So the current poison is Maybe In Other Lives , a Sterek work that includes Derek renovating a cabin, Stiles being a badass, and soulmates in infinite lives. Beware the canon landmines in this one. Heavy on Derek’s awful past, the first two chapters are pretty depressing and they’re up now. Woo hoo!

Summary: Y/N Stark was taken from her family when she was three years old. It's fifteen years later and her family believes she is dead. Then how is she living in Beacon Hills?

Peter feels like he can’t breathe.

His head feels like it's spinning.

So many feelings are going through his body and he doesn’t understand why. Just because she shares the same name as his sister, doesn’t mean that she could be the girl who is presumed dead. A lot of people have the name Y/N. His sister wasn’t the only one. He’s pretty sure there have been people who love Iron Man so much they’ve named their children Y/N.

There’s just something about her that confuses his spidey senses. They are usually always a little on edge around people he doesn’t know, but with her, they feel safe. They almost want to protect her even though there is nothing to protect her from. It also feels like they don’t need to try and sense any danger because if she’s around, then he will never be in danger. It feels like they know she’s family.

He looks over to his dad and uncle to see if they are having the same reaction as him, only to be met with his dad filling out his admission form with sad eyes and his uncle Steve playing Candy Crush on his phone. How is he the only one freaking out? Is he making something out of nothing?

He has to just be making things up in his head. Y/N is dead. He’s known that for years. They buried her body. Some of the smartest people in the world identified her. There is no way they made a mistake. This is just his mind trying to grasp at straws. Y/N is dead.

“Okay, I'm going to clean up your wounds,” Y/N states as she looks at the papers Tony just handed her, “then I will give you something for the pain, remove the splinters, clean you up again, and send you on your way home. I will be right back.”

Peter watches as she wraps the towels back around his leg before exiting the room.

“She seems a bit young to be working here,” Tony comments.

“At least she seems to know what she’s doing,” Steve adds.

“How are you feeling, kid?”

Peter blinks out of his daze before answering his dad, “I’m fine. I’m mostly just wishing I didn’t walk on the deck.”

“We’re just lucky it didn’t cause too much damage. It could have been a lot worse,” Steve sighs, rubbing a hand down his face, “Even if you weren’t the one to fall through, it would’ve been somebody else.”

Y/N walks back through the door pushing a tray of everything she’ll need to help Peter.

“Okay, first I’m going to clean up your wounds,” she states as she grabs her saline solution and gauze sponges, “then we will numb the affected areas so that you can’t feel me removing the splinters. Does that sound good?”

Peter gives her a smile through the pain, “Sounds good.”

She slowly starts to clean his wounds, “Now, like I stated before, this is not how we usually do things, but since you're different from most patients and I’m used to weird things, I decided this was the best course of action for your wounds.”

“I’m sorry, but I have to ask. How old are you?” Tony interjects with a curious look on his face.

Y/N chuckles at his question, “I’m nineteen. I graduated high school early at sixteen and I have an associate's degree in nursing. I should get my bachelor's in December if everything goes according to plan.”

“That’s impressive,” Steve praises, “What made you decide to become a nurse?”

“Well, one, I have an extremely injury-prone brother,” Y/N replies while she finishes cleaning Peter’s leg, “Two, I have extremely injury-prone friends. And lastly, a woman, who’s been like a mother to me for most of my life, is also a nurse. She inspired me.”

“It seems like your friends are lucky to have you.”

“I’m pretty sure I’m the only reason they’re still alive,” they chuckle at her reply as if it was a joke but she was telling the truth, “Okay, I’ve got you all cleaned up now let’s get you numb.”

Peter continues to stare at her as she throws away the gauze that was just used to clean his wounds. He keeps screaming at himself that he doesn’t know this girl but a part of him keeps yelling back that he does. He keeps repeating in his head that Y/N is dead. There’s no way she came back from the dead just to become a nurse in a town called Beacon Hills. Plus, she said she’s nineteen and his sister would be eighteen.

“Now, I could give you multiple shots to numb your wounds but we are going to use something else,” she grabs a jar from her cart before showing it to him, “This is some pretty powerful numbing cream. It works a lot faster than the shots and it will be a lot less painful. It will also relieve some of your pain.”

She opens the jar before gently scooping out a small amount of the cream. He winces as she starts to rub the cream onto one of his wounds. Her movements become slower and more gentle so as to not hurt him any further.

The relief was almost automatic. It was as if the pain had been sucked out of his leg. Every time she applies more onto his wounds, the less and less pain he has.

For a moment, he swore he saw some black lines running up her arm like veins. He watches to see if he’ll see them again, but her gloves and the long sleeve shirt she was wearing underneath her blue scrubs blocked him from seeing more. He convinces himself that he’s either seeing things or that she must have a tattoo of something.

“What is this stuff?” Peter asks in shock. “We need some of this.”

“Good luck finding some,” Y/N laughs at the look on his face, “I’ve asked my bosses multiple times where they are getting this from but they refuse to tell me. It works like magic, doesn’t it?”

“It’s better than magic.”

“Well, now that you can no longer feel anything, let’s remove these splinters.”

Tony watches as the nurse removes the splinters from his son’s leg. This was the first time they brought Peter to an actual hospital in years. Most of his injuries heal quickly enough so that they don’t have to, or Bruce deals with any major injuries he has. Looking at him now, he can’t help but remember the last time he brought him to a hospital.

A pained scream echoed throughout the small cabin.

Tony quickly abandons his paperwork as he runs to Peter's room. He opens the door to find a five-year-old Peter sitting on the ground and holding his left arm to his chest. Tears are streaming down his face as his two-year-old sister is sitting next to him hugging him in comfort.

“What happened,” Tony quietly asks as he moves towards Peter and Y/N.

“I-I wanted t-to be like yo-you,” Peter chokes out through his tears, “I-I tried to fl-fly.”

Tony sighs knowing that he must have jumped off the top of his bunk bed. This wasn’t the first time this had happened. Two months ago, when Bucky was babysitting the two, Peter almost gave him a heart attack because he walked into his room to find him trying to swing on the ceiling fan.

“Where are you hurt?” Tony can see that he must have hurt his arm but he wanted Peter to tell him where he was hurting.

“Arm.” That’s all Peter says as he continues holding onto his arm as if it would fall off if he let go.

“Can I please look at your arm?”

Peter slowly lets go of his arm to let his dad examine it. As Tony gently touches his arm, Peter lets out a small whimper of pain.

“Stop!” Tony looks at Y/N who has a scared look on her face. She doesn’t like her brother being in pain and she knows that her dad touching his arm seems to hurt him.

Tony gives her a small smile, “I’m sorry. I’ll be more gentle. I just need to see if this is something serious or not.”

She seems to contemplate his words before hugging Peter even tighter. Tony takes that as his cue to continue examining his arm. He can tell it isn’t broken, but he wasn’t sure. Bruce was currently on a mission so he’d have to take him to an actual hospital.

“Okay,” Tony calmly puts Peter’s arm back against his chest, “Just to be safe, we will go to a hospital to have it looked at.”

“What about uncle Bruce?” Peter has a confused look on his face.

“He’s off fighting bad guys right now so we will have to take you somewhere else. Is that okay with you, kid?”

Tony expects him to put up a fight but simply nods his head. He also allowed Tony to take him to the car without ever making a fuss. That’s how he knew something was wrong.

When they got to the hospital, Y/N clung to Peter’s side. For someone who was only two years old, she really liked to glare at people who got too close to Peter. It was like she was protecting him from further harm.

Tony could tell that Peter being hurt had upset Y/N. Other than glaring at people, himself included, she hadn't spoken a word other than when she yelled stop at him. She just stuck to Peter’s side and never said anything.

By the time they were seen by a doctor, Tony had to physically pry her away from Peter for them to take x-rays of his arm. There were a lot of tears and she had a strong grip on Peter’s hand that was tough to pull her away from, but she still never said a word.

As they waited for the doctors to examine Peter’s x-rays, Y/N was clinging onto Peter as if she was scared he would disappear. She was also upset with Tony for pulling her away from Peter earlier.

“Okay,” the doctor walks back into the exam room holding Peter’s x-rays, “it seems that he fractured his arm in the fall.”

Tony listens intently as the doctor explains what happened to his son’s arm and what course of action they should do. Peter seemed excited at the thought of having his arm in a cast, but he knew that excitement would fade as he realizes how much having a cast on sucks.

Peter let Y/N pick the color of his cast. She ended up picking a pretty blue color that reminded her of her uncle Bucky’s eyes. Tony knew this would start another debate on who the favorite uncle is.

When they got home that night, Peter gave Y/N some markers to draw on his cast. It ended up mostly being a bunch of squiggly lines and some odd-looking shapes, but Peter thought his cast looked great.

It took Y/N about a week to stop clinging to Peter and it took her another two weeks to stop forcing Peter to sleep in her bed rather than his bunk bed.

“And we’re done.” Tony zones back in on the scene before him to see that the nurse had finished with Peter’s leg. It was wrapped up and everything.

“Thank you so much,” Peter says while trying to maneuver his way off the exam table.

“It’s no problem.” Y/N replies with a large smile on her face, “It’s literally my job.”

“What do we need to do now?” Steve asks.

“Well, I’m going to send you to a lovely place that people like to call hell where you can determine how you are paying for your visit.” Tony snorts at her description, “I’m also going to give you a prescription for some pain meds to take until your leg is fully healed. I will write down the pharmacy’s address so you can pick it up on the way home.”

“It will only take a few days for my leg to fully heal. You don’t have to prescribe me anything.” Peter states.

“Yes, but I’m sure you don’t want to spend those few days in pain.”

Once she’s done with everything she needs to do, she takes them to the checkout counter.

“It was nice to meet all of you,” she says as drops them off, “Hopefully, if there is a next time, it will be under better circumstances.”

“Thank you so much for all of your help,” Tony smiles as he shakes her hand.

“You’re welcome. I’m sure you are ready to go home so I will let you check out and I will leave you alone. I hope the rest of your day turns out a lot better than this!”

There’s something inside Peter yelling at him to not let her go but he ignores the feeling and decides to just watch her leave.

As Y/N steps inside her shared apartment with Derek, she can hear arguing from the kitchen.

“We have to tell her! What if it was you in her position? Wouldn’t you want to know?” Scott's voice was the first one she could make out.

“We can’t tell her,” Stiles's voice rings out, “She’s got the biggest target on her but you know she’ll care more about everyone else's safety above her own. Derek, back me up. Tell Scott why we can’t tell Y/N.”

“Tell me what?” the three boys jump at the sound of her voice.

“Oh, hey. How was work?” Stiles tries to awkwardly pretend like he wasn’t just talking about her.

Y/N chuckles while staring at the group with a smirk on her face, “You werewolves should check your hearing. Now, I’m going to ask again. Tell me what?”

Scott and Stiles nervously look at each other while Derek never stops looking at her. He sighs before grabbing a piece of paper off the table in front of him. He gives her a quick kiss before handing it to her. The paper appears to have names and numbers written on it.

“What’s this?” she asks with a confused look on her face.

“It’s a dead pool,” Scott answers.

“The names are people who are supernatural and the number beside them is how much they're worth,” Stiles adds.

“Shit,” Y/N whispers under her breath.

“Turn it around,” Derek says as he watches for her reaction.

She turns it around to see her name and a number.

“That’s how much I’m worth” she questions, “That’s not a lot. I thought I’d be worth more.”

“That’s not in dollars, that’s in millions,” Stiles corrects her.

“I’m worth fifty million dollars?!”

Growing Up is Hard To Do

This is written for @teenwolf-meta ’s May meta event; the subject being teenagers.

I have frequently called Teen Wolf a bildungsroman, because that is exactly what it is: a story detailing the material and spiritual transformation from a child into an adult. I think it's almost painfully obvious to the casual observer that the production wanted us to see Scott McCall as a child in Season 1 and as an adult in Season 6B (and they carried that conviction all the way in the Movie).

They did this in many difference scenes, but when it comes to Scott McCall, I love how they lampshaded it with two important speeches, both in Season 3. The first is delivered by none other than Peter Hale, the architect of our scene in the aptly named Visionary (3x08):

Peter: A lot like Scott, actually. A lot like most teenagers... unbearably romantic, profoundly narcissistic, tolerable really only to other teenagers.

Now, of course, Peter, as is his praxis, is making the truth do his dirty work, but it is still the truth. At the beginning of the show, Scott was a teenager and he shared certain characteristics of an average teenager.

Unbearably romantic. This isn't just about his romantic focus on Allison -- which while being useful and not being anywhere near obsession, does have significant drawbacks. It is about the romantic notion that intentions determine results. At the beginning of the first season, Scott is still the type of person who believes that what he will experience is determined by what he wants to experience. Of course, as he will discover, this isn't true. No matter how much Scott wants it, there is no cure for the horrors he experiences.

Profoundly narcissistic. Peter is a pot calling a kettle black, but he's not wrong. Like most children, Scott starts out not having figured out that his world isn't all about him. He has yet to understand that harmless little actions, like sneaking out to look for a dead body, can have far-reaching consequences and not just to him personally. Conversely, other people can take actions that influence his life without even knowing who he is, such as a scheming werewolf biting the first teenager he comes across.

Tolerable only to other teenagers. Scott starts out season 1 in the world of children doing childish things, and that is not a bad thing. His world consists of his mother, school, games (lacrosse), and friends. He's aware of things that adults have to worry about it - justice, responsibility, planning - but that's not his world. Not yet. At this point, he doesn't have anything in common with the adults among whom he spends every day.

While all of this is undeniably true, it's not going to last, and that's Teen Wolf. Scott undergoes a traumatic, horrific journey from where he started -- an asthmatic Latino sophomore from a broken home who's a bit of a follower though generally hardworking and positive -- to where he ended -- a True Alpha werewolf with the responsibility for ending a war caused by fear, ignorance, and hate.

That's it; as they say, that's the show. The production lampshaded the specifics of his transformation into a heroic adult as well, not 14 episodes after Peter's declaration.

Derek: He will do anything and everything to save the people he cares about. When there's no chance of winning, he keeps fighting. When all hope is lost, he finds another way. And when he's beaten down, he stands up again.

In The Divine Move (3x24), Derek is using this to recruit the twins against the power of the nogitsune, but it also summarizes Scott's growth at the half-way point of the show and lays out what makes him unique.

No chance of winning is the lesson that counters narcissism. The world isn't built around Scott McCall; it's not set up so he can always win. Peter, Gerard, and Theo don't care about how their actions will affect Scott; they regard him as either an obstacle or a means to an end. In order to protect other people, he's going to have to look beyond his own needs and wants and perceive how other people, even terrible monsters, think and feel.

All hope is lost is the lesson that counters romanticism. It's clear that there are threats out that not only don't care about what Scott McCall's intentions are, they can barely even understand them. The nogitsune, the Wild Hunt, and the anuk-ite are inhuman, overwhelming forces that don't play by the same rules as Scott. Scott's intentions, therefore, are ultimately meaningless in the face of their power; he's going to have to discover which actions will achieve his goals and do them no matter what the cost.

When he's beaten down is the lesson that builds tolerance. His concerns and experiences are no longer those of an innocent child. He's held Allison as she died. He's been blackmailed by Jackson, Matt, Gerard, and Garrett. He's conspired against his enemies with monsters like Deucalion and Gerard. He's seen valued relationships shattered by the weight of his own decisions, and he's had to rebuild his friendship with Stiles and Liam and Maia. Some adults decades older than him haven't faced a quarter of things like this. Adults recognize that he has experienced these things, and they treat like an equal.

Scott's heroism is ultimately that while learning these lessons, he never abandons the good parts of the child he started out as. He still has compassion. He still enjoys life. He still wants friends and love. He just possess these qualities now as an adult.

That's why it is very important in the Movie that he starts out living a life away from almost everyone else in Los Angeles. This isn't a repudiation of his friends and family; adults can pursue their own dreams but sometimes that means they have to move away from the comforts of childhood. They're still his friends, his family, and his pack, but he hasn't retreated back into a world he outgrew. Yet, he's still there, and he's still the alpha. He's just an adult one.
