Mwhahahahah! I love fake dating that turns into dating! Could I have a #20 & #10 for Malleus Draconia please? You’re the absolute best!
You requested: Mistletoe + Fake Dating for Christmas Ball
Tumblr media
Malleus Draconia
It was a cold night out, and the moon was the only thing giving light at this hour. You were waiting for a certain prince to come, as it was time for your nightly walks. Then, there was black smoke, and you smiled, knowing your prince had arrived.
…Well, he wasn’t your prince…
“Child of Man, I am here,” Once the smoke cleared, you saw Malleus in full. He was wearing his dorm uniform, and he had a grin on his face.
“Hello, Tsunotarou! How was your day?”
And that started your walk with each other. It was a calm moment, an appreciated moment after such a stressful day, filled with Grim and Ace getting into trouble and you and Deuce being dragged into that trouble. This was a nice way to relax as you placed your hand in the crook of Malleus’s elbow when he extended his arm to you.
“It was well. Might I be able to inquire about yours?”
“Same as usual. The group of idiots that I call ‘friends’ caused trouble like normal.”
“Well, I am hoping to make it better, as I do have something to ask you. You are aware of the upcoming Christmas Ball, correct?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Good, because I was hoping you would accompany me as my partner… if that is something you would like.”
“Of course! But what about your retainers?”
“Sebek is not going to attend, as he does have some work to do. Lilia and Silver put their names down as partners, as I apparently need to be ‘guarded’.” You laughed at the thought of the two saying it, knowing full well that the former just wanted to party. Silver probably knew that as well, but it didn’t matter.
“Alright! That sounds nice. Now I can’t wait!!” You exclaimed, happy that your crush had just asked you to the ball.
“I will come by Ramshackle at night right before it starts to walk with you.”
~~~~~~~~
The night of, you found yourself a bit anxious. You were dressed in your fanciest clothing, thanks to Professor Crewel and how he helped you choose an outfit and he even paid for it. He was really becoming a father figure to you, and you appreciated it a lot.
Anyway, you jumped when there was a knock on the front door. You opened it and were met with the Crowned Prince of Briar Valley, dressed up in a very formal tuxedo. You went up to him and gave him a hug, a smile on your face.
“You look very nice, Tsunotarou,” Your compliment made the draconic prince’s heart soar.
“And you do as well, Child of Man. Now, we must depart for the Ball,” Once again, he extended his arm to you, and, once again, you placed your hand in the crook of his elbow. Then, you both set off on the–rather small–journey to the NRC cafeteria that was cleared out and decorated for the big event.
In front of the doors was a crowd of people chatting eagerly, waiting for their partners to arrive. The doors were open, but unless the person you put your name down with was with you, you were not allowed entrance. Luckily for you, you were able to duck out of the cold because your partner was right there.
Inside, you marveled at the decor. There was a giant tree, and on it were candles and ornaments of all sorts in NRC’s colors. You twirled about, taking in everything as there were garlands strung about.
Malleus watched as you let go of his arm and he adored the look of surprise and awe on your face. An urge to preserve that look washed over him, but he quickly shook it off. You were his friend, after all, and he would not like to ruin that.
~~~~~~~~
It had been an hour into the Ball, and you had already picked up a few sweets. However, the DJ gained everyone’s attention by speaking into the mic.
“Partners, head to the dance floor! The waltz will begin shortly.”
The fae turned to you, looking into your eyes as he extended his hand out to you.
“Would you dance with me, Child of Man?” He took note of your sudden nervousness, and he was about to retract his request before you responded.
“I don’t know how to waltz…” You admitted, a tad embarrassed. To be fair, there was no reason why you would learn something like waltzing back in your world.
“It will be okay. I can show you, if you’d like,” Still a bit hesitant, you put your hand in his, and you were immediately pulled flush against his chest. “You will place your right hand on my shoulder, my left hand will go on your waist. Then, our free hands will join one another.”
This was the first time you had been this close to him. It was the first time where you actually held his hand, and it felt so intimate, so special.
He told you that your steps would go by count of three, and he told you to just look into his eyes rather than down at your feet. Surprisingly, you had only stepped on his feet three times, and he didn’t even really feel it.
While it only lasted a few minutes, it felt like you were dancing for hours with the feelings you both told each other with your eyes. You didn’t even realize what was going on around you until someone shouted something that caught your attention.
“Hey, is that mistletoe above the Prefect and Malleus?” You heard Ace call out.
Both of you looked up to confirm Ace’s observation. There was a piece of mistletoe levitating above you, and you turned to see if someone was using a spell (Lilia), but you couldn’t find anybody.
“Y/N, what does this mean?” Malleus asked.
You’ve gotta be kidding me, you thought.
“Uh… Well, when two people are under the mistletoe, it is tradition for them to share a kiss. If one of those people refuses, then they have bad luck for the year.”
All of a sudden, he placed both his hands on your waist and looked down at your lips.
“Would you like for me to kiss you?” He asked, face getting closer.
A moment passed, and you just pulled him in by the lapels of his tuxedo jacket into a kiss. He immediately reciprocated, and it was minutes later where you both finally broke apart.
“I love you,” He whispered. You could tell he meant it, which made you feel warm inside.
“I love you, too, Tsunotarou,” You whispered back.

may i please have some heartsteel yone/f!reader? i haven't seen much of my beloved producer 🥺
✖ Heartsteel!Yone x Reader ✖
✖ Word Count: 2k
✖ Tags: Long Term Established R/S
✖ A/N: You get together with Yone 10 years ago in Japan. HC Yone as someone who started out DJ-ing at clubs before outgrowing the scene and fading to obscurity online before Heartsteel picked him up.
----  Meeting Him ----
- You met him back in Japan, back when you visited clubs and actually managed to catch his DJ-ing before he quit. It was underground but it was unique. Experimental stuff that just somehow still sounded so damn good to you. You found yourself drawn to him and eventually going up to talk to him during a break between sets. He fell in love with you shortly after, he had a small but loyal fanbase and having someone like you appear at every single one of his performances really weakened the walls around his heart.
- You spent college dropping by any of Yone's appearances throughout your fall quarter and as school went on and as winter break came over, you finally found the time and energy to hang around and visit his other appearances too. Some fun mall gigs, cute online streams in the day, even managing to land a dj-ing gig at a local dance competition. You could tell it was hard, he had a distinctive style that was as much a pro as it was a con and eventually he faded away from performing at all in person.
- It was his 'Final Performance' so the speak. That late night in the club, a drink in hand, bright smiles as you had fun with you friends while watching the elusive masked dj on his little stage. It was his final performance. Now or never to confess your love for both him and his music, your nerves straight ice as the night slowly drew to a close. Unbeknown to you, he too, felt exactly the same as he watched you from the stand. The passing comments and small conversations the two of you shared over the months left him yearning for something more with you.
- And it was sweet when it finally happened. Uncharacteristically gentlemanly coming from a DJ. You stayed as the club begun to close, Yone walking up to talk to you just like any other time a friendly conversation before he offers you a small giftbag, softly telling you its a personal Christmas gift for his most loyal supporter, telling you to open it when you're home. You thank him, pushing yourself to exchange numbers with him so you can give him feedback when you're home safe. You curse as you miss your chance to confess in the heat of the moment.
- As you return home, you pull a thin package beautifully wrapped in the little bag. You unwrap it to find a homemade mixtape, all of your favorite songs from him paired with special unreleased works that he think you would like. How he even managed to know which were your favorites shocked you honestly. As you look into the bag further a sweet handwritten note confessing his budding love for you neatly written in decorative paper falls out. Poetic words with the neatest handwriting, you could swear the paper itself was scented too. Your heart races as you listen to the CD while reading the pages of his feelings. The first thing you ever messaged him was a cute " Yone, I love you too." Which Yone has graciously screenshotted and looked back on often over the years.
---- Heartsteel / Dating ----
- You two are the loving parents of Heartsteel, the comforting consistency, the caring confidants of the group. There was just something nice about seeing Yone and his partner of almost ten years still going strong in such a stable relationship that causes all the boys to look at you with such respect. You have fun with them all, you work hard late nights supporting Yone and his work, you look out for him as he looked out for you. You were as much part of the gang as he was.
- Surprisingly Yasuo loves you just as much (platonically), he's happy to see Yone just genuinely be so at ease around you, to have someone be there for his brother that can actually make the man relax? You have his approval. After moving on and joining True Damage, Yasuo would worry seeing Yone so alone, so having you appear and provide his brother with such companionship made him happy. Though, Yasuo does tease Yone a lot, every time you meet him he always asks you if Yone has proposed. He can't understand how you two have been together so long yet not gotten married.
- Dates with Yone were always so calming. Bringing you out to hot spring inns during stressful times, inviting you to cute hidden cafes to work together, comforting jamming sessions late night at his place if money was tight. Nothing embarrassingly over to top yet not so casual that you felt like the two of you weren't doing anything special. There was just something about the way he just knows what you need. As the years went by you realized it was just how Yone was, he was an attentive guy and especially so when it came to you.
- Also it was no secret that Yone looked at self care as a priority and slowly you picked up on his little habits too. Simple yet small adjustments to your own habits. The way you two would go through the motions of burning incense and making tea early in the mornings for a quick meditation and mindfulness session. The loving way he would cook healthier meals for you, how he would be the one buying bath and beauty products, how he would motivate you to follow him to Kendo lessons to exercise, how he would leave books filled with comments on post-its around the house for you to read when you had time. The softest part was how he never seemed disappointed even if you said no to any of this, he was caring and patient after all, he'll win you over into self help eventually.
- The biggest change with the new popularity of Heartsteel was seeing the sheer number of fans Yone started to get. You almost forgot what it was like being his fangirl honestly, so used to your life with him after his semi-retirement, it was weird suddenly being thrown back to your college days of being in love with that DJ at the club. Sure things were different, you came home to him, you slept by his side every night, you heard all his music before it was released, but still... There was something about the way your heart thrums as you stand in the audience watching Yone lift his mask to throw you a charming smile. There was something about the way you knew when he laughed softly on stage, when he waves to the fans, when the crowd cheers, that the cool DJ standing up there was all yours. Oh it made you smile just as bright.
---- During Touring Season ----
- Being together for so long had its perks and its downfalls, for one, you two had a really nice house together, a place you truly called home. Little bits of Yone all around you all the time in the way the bed smelt like him, the way you see his drinks in the fridge and his things around the room. As much as it all comforts you when he is away, it all also oh so depressingly reminds you how lonely you are without him. At the least, Yone was a man of conviction and strict schedules, without fail every day at midnight where he is, when the concerts over he would always contact you somehow. Be it a call, a message, and photo. He would always make sure to send you at the very least, something, once a day. Lovingly checking in on you to make sure you were ok.
- Sure you had your own life outside of being his loving girlfriend but yet, being by Yone's side was such a commonplace that the emptiness of the house felt foreign after all these years. Yone did his best to make sure you weren't alone though, leaving little notes hidden around the house for you to find and read, leaving you a playlist to fill his study with music so you could feel like someone was still there. Of course he still called you when he could but there were other things too, like how he kept ordering meals for you, secretly asking your neighbors to keep an eye out to make sure you were safe at night, how he actually sent you postcards so you could have a physical reminder that he was thinking of you. It was all so sweet.
- If you could make it to a concert? You had the VIP treatment, he was very secretive, not really having social media, no one really knew he was in a long term relationship with you. But for Heartsteel? Everyone close to Yone knew who you were. No questions asked, a VIP pass thrust into your hands courtesy of Alune who excitedly dragged you backstage to say hi to your partner before and after the performance.
- During the actual show it was crazy, for someone whose style was so underground it was exciting and certainly different to see how wild the crowd was compared to your hazy memories of small secluded rooms in the fringes of Tokyo all those years back. Heartsteel was good for him you had to admit, seeing him on the international stage, seeing him having so much fun with the other boys, seeing the way he was just glowing with joy when people actually hollered and cheered at his beat drops. A warm bubbling feeling rises up in your chest as you see him smile the way he does around you, only this time it was on the big stage. You knew he was happy with his own small fanbase of loyal stans but you two knew better, a tiny fanbase wouldn't pay the bills, being so wildly loved, being able to make music, his passion, for work. Having so many new people hear the same style of mixing that caught your attention years back and actually love it? Heartsteel was a blessing to you both.
- When you run backstage after the performance to congratulate all the boys on the successful performance Yone stands further back. A warm smile on his face as he pulls off his mask to watch you hug and high five everyone else, a mix of feelings as he watches you talk to his bandmate. As the initial greetings pass, you finally walk up to him, everyone leaving to settle their own post performance maintenance. For Yone, that was a little habit of searching for you and reaching out to pull you into a hug. A habit that he once had all those years back, the nostalgia after every performance always hitting him so hard his usually calm and cool demeanor would crack. The lightest tinge of a blush could be seen rising up to his ears as he finally makes eye contact with you. Slowly he walks over, a hand reaching out to beckon you to come over and hold him.
" You were amazing up on stage, I almost forgot how charming you always looked in the DJ booth."
" And I almost forgot how exciting it was to search for you cheering for me in the crowd. Especially when the crowd is that big."
Yone laughs softly. A deep melodic noise that sends shivers down your spine. Oh the way the corners of his lips curl up, his sparkling emerald eyes gaze down at you. His right hand reaching up, the back of his fingers lightly brushing over your cheeks, pushing your hair back behind your ears.
" Just like old times my love?"
" Just like old times Yone."
Carefully, doing his best to make sure his hair doesn't tickle you, the same hand that pushed your hair back now rises to hold his own messy fringe up as he leans down. Gently, just like always. His lips press against yours. Nothing too affectionate, you two were still in public after all, but still you could feel it, the way the softest kiss from your lover fills your chest with such overwhelming love. As you pull back you look up to see a smile so bright that it causes his eyes to close. Ah, you were truly loved.

Shuffle your on-repeat playlist and list the first 10 songs that play, then tag 10 people.
Thank you @letraspal and @bookish-bogwitch for the tags!
I decided to do my running playlist because it contains (statistically speaking) my most played songs, and yet doesn't at all represent my music taste. Or, to paraphrase Des Linden when asked what she listened to while training to set the 50K record: I thought I was a Hall & Oates fan, but Spotify tells me I'm in the top 1% of Taylor Swift listeners.
Tumblr media
"Black Velvet" - fucking beat that, peeps. I bet you no one will admit to listening to Alannah Myles in 2024.
"Love the Way You Lie" - my ex and I used to duet this one while decorating the Christmas tree.
"I See You Baby" - back when I lived in Glasgow and used to club and take a shit ton of drugs, this was *the* song.
"Empire State of Mind" - if I'm 7+ miles into a run in the city and this song comes on, I *will* burst into tears in public.
"Diamonds and Rust" - my mom, sister and I have declared this the most melodramatic song ever. One day I will work it into a wolfstar because: "Well, I'll be damned / Here comes your ghost again / But that's not unusual / It's just that the moon is full / And you happened to call." (It's about Bob Dylan, btw.)
"Bizarre Love Triangle" - the KEXP (Seattle independent radio station) DJ, John Richards, once said, if he's live DJ-ing and he puts "Bizarre Love Triangle" on and people don't dance, then he knows it's a hopeless audience. Pure fact right there.
Now tags! @artsyunderstudy @hihimissamericanbi @burningaurora @basiatlu @hearteyesmoony @amethystheart2421 @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @cutestkilla @raenestee @shrekgogurt (Apologies if you've already done this and I missed it. Also, feel free to ignore.)

eddie diaz is a secret swiftie and he has a playlist full of songs that make him think of buck and he cries every time he hears Best Day bc it makes him think of chris growing up and whenever he posts on instagram (literally once every three months) he uses taylor swift lyrics that he keeps in a note on his phone as the captions (he doesn’t know how to lock the note so it’s labeled “grocery shopping”) and when he and buck fight/argue he tries to see how often he can sneak a taylor swift lyric into the conversation. buck surprises him with a set of all her cd’s for christmas one year and tickets to the eras tour. (yes eddie still uses cd’s he insists they sound better) chris loves listening to his dad serenade buck in the kitchen with taylor swift when they think he’s asleep. after the All Too Well (taylor’s version) (the 10 minute version) is dropped the entire family refuses to watch any jake gyllenhall movies. eddie saw the headlines about taylor swift and joe alwyn breaking up and made buck text taylor kelly to see if she could confirm if it was true.
buck is an edm fan and a huge raver bc the beep boop noises help his adhd. he’s PR’d like 7 times listening to subtronics in the gym. he and chris make kandi together and when chris hands him a “rave dad” kandi he cries. he drags eddie to a lowkey rave and they take chris to another smaller one before they’re convinced to take a week off and take chris to lost lands once he turns 13. eddie volunteers his time as a medic to festivals in LA while buck runs off and makes tons of friends. buck wears mesh tops and body glitter while eddie wears a dj shirt with shorts (“why are the inseams on these like 3 inches buck?” “you have to be a little bit slutty it’s a rave!!”) chris loves being on bucks shoulders to see the stage and with most festivals being accessible and chris being cute they oftentimes make their way to the rail and can headbang together. chris falls in love with the scene and surprises his dad and his buck with a 60 minute set of taylor swift remixes for their anniversary after they get him equipment one year for his birthday.
Idk man sometimes i think and this is what happens

Todays rip: 10/03/2024
Character Select BGM (KFAD2 Mode)
Season 4 Episode 1 Featured on: SiIva Direct Presents
Ripped by deogenerate, New Guy Visuals by Harmony Friends, deogenerate, dante
youtube
Requested by delilahs-pumpkin-patch! (@delilahs-pumpkin-patch)
Today's rip was requested for coverage on the blog due to one very simple reason. Because for all the coverage I've done on the King for Another Day Tournament in Season 4 Episode 1 with rips like Thank You, Everybody!, Unhealed and NIGHTMARESCAPE 〜Unrestrained HyperCam 2〜 (Final Boss Phase 2), there's one part of the project that I've effectively ignored entirely up until now. Indeed, though the excitement of the tournament itself, and its post-contest celebrations in Season 4 Episode 2, are both remembered very fondly, there's a period surrounding the tournament that's yet to be covered. We've covered this story's middle, its end, and its epilogue - now, its time to discuss its beginnings.
I've said before that Season 4 Episode 1 is kind of defined wholly by the tournament event itself, but given that it only took up around 2 months of actual channel time that may come off as a bit strange. That's because, much like the video game series that most directly inspired it, the King for Another Day Tournament did an incredible job in maintaining hype up until its release though reveals and trailers. These being the reveals of, of course, the new contestants - with a roster size doubled from Season 3's King for a Day Tournament, it left 16 characters to be revealed piecemeal in the buildup to the event. Channel creator Chaze the Chat described that he wanted Season 4 to be the most unpredictable and surprising Season yet, and we of course saw that outside of KFAD in rips like Sex - Steve Harvey and the entirety of Chain of Memories II Day - but the way the character reveals were done also played part in this element of surprise! The rip of today, Character Select BGM (KFAD2 Mode), is one of many other rips that contain a secret character reveal trailer within - hidden in the sea of normal channel uploads, these secret character reveals would be shown only to those who truly kept an eye out on every rip the channel uploaded.
Better yet, all these trailers were hidden at the very end of rips - and just like Chaze the Chat had warned, there was no telling what to expect from these rips even if they contained character reveals (shoutouts to Stronger than Mr Krab for being actually deranged). It was the hunt for the character reveals that made me click on rips like Character Select BGM (KFAD2 Mode) to begin with back in the day, as I have little to no connection to rhythm games like REFLEC BEAT VOLZZA, and yet it absolutely paid off in just how solid of a rip this is. This is a no-nonsense quality rip across the board, a high-octane melody swap medley with an energetic and fun sound derived from the source track. Creatively yet seamlessly, it begins by including themes relating to the Christmas Comeback Crisis such as The Noble Haltmann and Wood Man's theme, before pivoting to focus on music broadly categorizable as ones more known within Japan's online remix communities - including music featured in other rhythm games, but also music such as that made by Yosuke Yasui. In effect, Character Select BGM (KFAD2 Mode) was just about the perfect rip to reveal Rhythm Masters in, as a perfect blend of SiIva's own set of jokes and the potential kinds of rips the contestant itself could offer.
Excitement for KFAD was in the air for most of 2019, and it was through rips just like this that said excitement was maintained. And even though I myself lacked the connection needed to rhythm games to really have their reveal and place in the tournament hit home, experiencing that reveal in the way the channel did kept me excited all the same.

Another red-letter moment for today - 10 Years Ago Today - on the NYC subway... October 31st, 2013 one for the I Love New York file... Not even sure this was a Halloween costume... but how fab is this dude? :: [Mary Elaine LeBey]
* * * *
"I’ll never forget the first time I went (well the details are a little blurry). It was back in 2006, I was working some bullshit part-time job in Mid-Town which to my surprise, involved spending all day in a factory putting price stickers on Christmas Cards. I befriended an Australian girl, one of those wandering couch-surfing types, who had just arrived from Edinburgh and was living in the projects in the LES. Let’s just say she had a lot of circus friends, if that paints any sort of picture. Anyways, I digress, she really wanted to see some DJ at Rubulad so we headed over there on Halloween night. For people who normally dress in costume on regular days, you can imagine the sort of glue-gun creations that showed up on Halloween. It made Paris is Burning look like a JC Penney catalog. There were multiple floors, crazy decorations hanging from everything and everyone in masks. I felt like I was inside David Bowie’s masquerade ball in the Labyrinth. Of course those are also the perfect conditions to lose people and find yourself sitting on a bench by yourself holding a mysterious cup of punch, wondering how you got there. The only thing I do remember was stepping over puke outside, jumping into a car I hoped was a car service, and thinking I had a really good time."

Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 21 (01/13/2024)
Tumblr media
Now that all the Christmas stuff is gone, what do we have to replace all of the Christmas songs? Well seems like we are still stuck with what 2023 had to offered. Regional Mexican, J-Pop, old songs that went viral on TikTok, and some legacy songs just debuted. And yet looking at the chart reset I think showed a bigger picture that I will get to on my blog, stay tuned. Enough stalling let's get into these meaty lists of new arrival
--------------------------------------------------------
49. "Goat" by Number_I
You know the year hasn't even started yet and we might have a contender for the worst song of the year. Like imagine if Fleeting Lullaby by Ado was remixed by a B-tier boyband and the productions sounded like the backwash of Gen 3 boyband group sound...you get this.
51. "Rompe La Dompe" by Peso Pluma, Junior H, Oscar Maydon
This is probably the most well produced Peso Pluma song in corridos scene. I love how chill the song is. Definitely needed after...that car crash the size of opening lap of Belgian GP in 1998 proportion.
64. "Wherever u r" by UMI ft. V from BTS
Seems like V beside making solid RnB album, also want to platform small RnB artist as well. And it's a great song to boot as well. I'm instantly hooked by UMI's voice with the melodic guitar, spacious production, and just immaculate atmosphere which is perfect for the sort of cut about long distance longing. I do think the percussion is a bit loud. But hey it's still a high recommendation
114. "Poco A Poco" by Xavi ft. Los Dareyes de La Sierra
Seems like the train of regional Mexican sound is still rolling because we have a newcomer by the name of Xavi. He's not Spanish by the way he's from Arizona. But, he has been going up on the chart with La Diabla which is a good song. And this one might be better due to the fact that there's a slap bass in it.
132. "Maria Mariah" by Silva MC, DJ F7, C NO BEAT & MC Meno Dani
10/10 would Brazilian funk again.
154. "Modo DND" by Xavi & Tony Aguirre
I feel like the reason why I've been positive with Xavi because in terms of corridos tumbados, his sounds are very full and competently produced for once. I love the horn lines here the most because it's kinda like all over the place.
161. "Murder On The Dancefloor" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor
TikTok strikes again and this time it might be their best find yet. Coming from the Saltburn ending where Barry Keoghan "dancing" to this song, we have quite possible the reason why Future Nostalgia existed in the first place. I'm glad that Americans are listening to this two decades later. The lush nu-disco production that didn't aged a day with the liquid guitar, tight bass, and the strings. Every seconds of this song is just tight and controlled which could be attributed to Gregg Alexander aka the bald guy with the bucket hat from New Radicals. The guitar solo is just an icing on the cake on otherwise fantastic tune.
162. "Husn" by Anuv Jain
Never thought I would hear a song from India like this to be honest. But hey it's a nice surprised to hear this type of sounds in other languages that I am not familiar with.
170. "Overdrive" by Ofenbach ft. Norma Jean Martine
It's kinda cool how dance genre has probably its stronger year in 2023. This is the first one I'm listening to this year and yeah the streak keep on going here. Never have I heard more beautiful piano house since...shit probably Hold My Hand.
172. "Alucin" by Eugenio Esquivel X Grupo Marca Registrada X Sebastian Esquivel
This is probably the best "Edm mixed with regional mexican" song I've heard. Though when your competition is a song by Fuerza Regida featuring Marshmello...yeah
186. "Let Me Love You" by DJ Snake ft. Justin Bieber
Not gonna lie, the sound of DJ Snake just didn't hold up so well with time. This song in 2024 sounds so empty and devoid of anything interesting.
190. "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Meanwhile this song is timeless and could be played at any time where you are feeling down or just sick of the bullshit get thrown at you.
191. "Livin On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi
Just listening to this one song and you will get why hair metal was at one point the biggest genre in the world in the mid 80s.
193. "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga
Meanwhile just listened to this song and you'll get why Lady Gaga is an icon and deserved her acolades.
197. "Be A Flower" by Ryokuoushoku Shakai
Wait so this is the song that became an opening for an anime about ancient China? Why does this bang so hard????
199. "One Dance" by Drake ft. Wizkid & Nyla
One Dance is a good song but this song marked the exact point where Drake stopped trying most of the times because his status as #1 hit makers has been sealed.
200. "Lean On" by Major Lazer ft. DJ Snake & MO
It's a good even great EDM song but it's pale in comparison to its competition at that time.
I highly recommend everyone listening to these songs

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 30/12/2023 (Christmas Garbage)
Content warning: Brief references to murder, racism and unlawful sex acts. Merry Christmas!
Yawn, it’s a Christmas episode. It’s not even Christmas anymore - the tracking week included Christmas Day. “Last Christmas” is #1, of course it is. Skip this one is my personal advice. Christmas Christmas Christmas. REVIEWING THE CHARTS.
Tumblr media
Rundown
So, there are a few new arrivals today, but it’s also a week of mostly just festive music the week after festive music mattered so I’ll have a bit of a different approach, one I’m sure will be made up for with next week’s: Less than a fifth of this week’s chart are non-Christmas songs, I’m going to be mostly in chart nerd form rather than expressing much of my opinion, which is kind of how this series has been moving towards lately? Next episode will be the rush of new and old songs thanks to the end-of-year gains and Christmas collapse, so that will be more of a classic episode when it comes to dishing out intros and opinions on different genres and artists, the usual. For now, well, let’s just run down what we have here. Rounding out the top five are Brenda at #5, Ed and Elton at #4, Mariah at #3 and Sam bloody Ryder still hogging up #2.
Let’s continue with rounding up the Christmas songs. The songs entering the UK Top 75 for the first time this year in this week, but have already entered the top 75 previously, are “Cozy Little Christmas” by Katy Perry at #70, “Mistletoe and Wine” by Cliff Richard at #69, “Please Come Home for Christmas” by the Eagles at #68, “Santa’s Coming for Us” by Sia at #66, “Santa Baby” by Kylie Minogue at #64, “Christmas Wrapping” by the Waitresses at #62 (one of my personal favourites) and “My Only Wish (This Year)” by Britney Spears at a new peak of #59, “Come on Home for Christmas” by George Ezra at #56, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas” by Perry Como at #54, “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” by Bruce Springsteen at another new peak of #47, and “Christmas Tree Farm” by Taylor Swift at #46… and speaking of new peaks, “What Christmas Means to Me” by Stevie Wonder at #76, “Jingle Bells” by Meghan Trainor at #48, “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt at #44, “Little Saint Nick” by the Beach Boys at #43, “A Holly Jolly Christmas” by Burl Ives at #40, “The Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole at #34, “Winter Wonderland” by Laufey at #26, “Sleigh Ride” by the Ronettes at #20 and “DJ Play a Christmas Song” by Cher at #18, as well as Jorja Smith’s cover of “Stay Another Day” at #16 and “Let it Snow” (three times) by Dean Martin at #13 and finally, it took a while but “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande reached the top 10 at #8.
I questioned the point in listing the notable dropouts - songs exiting the UK Top 75, which is what I cover, after five weeks in the region or a peak in the top 40 - since they’ll all be back next week but hey, if I can list a bunch of Christmas songs by dead people in succession, why not secular songs by those very much still with us? With that said, we bid adieu to that terrible cover of “I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday” by “Creator Universe”, and then bid a probably temporary farewell to “Stop Giving Me Advice” by Lyrical Lemonade, Jack Harlow and Dave, “You’re Losing Me” (From the Vault) by Taylor Swift, “Surround Sound” by JID featuring 21 Savage and Baby Tate, “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims, “exes” by Tate McRae, “Northern Attitude” by Noah Kahan with Hozier on the duet version, “Runaway” by Ye featuring Pusha T, “Can’t Catch Me Now” and “vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo, “On My Love” by Zara Larsson and David Guetta, “Water” by Tyla, “Strangers” by Kenya Grace, “I Remember Everything” by Zach Bryan featuring Kacey Musgraves, “Cruel Summer” by Taylor Swift and finally, “Sprinter” by Dave and Central Cee. So, yeah, big bloodbath this week but one that involves a revival for the next.
So, time to “review”, isn’t it? We have some new arrivals, most of which are Christmas songs, let’s trodge through them.
NEW ARRIVALS
#74 - “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” - Dean Martin
Produced by Lee Gillette
So, firstly: I’m going to be getting the vast majority of my info from the horse’s mouth, so to speak, the Official Charts Company’s archive: it may sometimes be inaccurate or awkward in its formatting but I know charts well enough to notice when something doesn’t seem right - for the most part - or when it contradicts with Wikipedia or other sources. You can find the vast majority of this info elsewhere, I’m not doing intense research, but hey, it’s good to have a little backstory and that’s what most of this episode will be: stories. We start with a fictional one, that of Rudolph’s.
Now he may be a tradition now but he’s more recent than you think, pitched in 1939 by a retailer in New York known as Robert L. May. He’s a newly-created Christmas character that is a bit of wholesome children’s content with a good message, insanely basic character design and therefore incredibly intuitive marketing strategy. The song came 10 years after the character, and whilst Gene Autry probably recorded the most well-known version, it’s never charted in the UK. In fact, Dean Martin’s version, which debuts this year at #74 - it’s its first week in the top 100 even - is the first version to chart, despite American success of versions by Autry, Bing Crosby and even the Chipmunks and the Temptations, both inspiring 60s vocal groups. This 1959 cover from A Winter Romance, the same album with “Let it Snow” on it, is a completely fine, very cliché Christmas-sounding tune with a weird German accent for Santa’s dialogue. Whilst it may be somewhat surprising the song’s not charted, I do understand. I sang “Rudolph” as a child in assemblies at school, sure, but I’m a much later generation than a lot of the people listening to Christmas music this time of year in this country, and it’s always felt like a specifically American export, especially that stop-motion TV special that may have re-popularised the tune. The only other “Rudolph” song to chart is Chuck Berry’s 1958 classic, “Run Rudolph Run”, which peaked at #36 in 1964 and is currently at #49. When it peaked, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles, another rock-and-roll classic, was #1. Mr. Berry of course would later go on to film women peeing, so maybe someone should make a festive rock and roll remix to “Ignition”.
#72 - “Carol of the Bells” - John Williams
Produced by John Williams
Spotify actually credits more than OCC does here: John Williams is listed here as he’s the only performer listed on the chart itself but on streaming services, the lead artist is actually Mykola Dmytrovych Leontovych, the Ukrainian composer for the song, originally arranged as a very non-Christmas piece “Shchedryk”, which I guess is still about Winter as when translated, one can read lyrics about how a swallow flies into a home promising wealth for the upcoming spring. It’s connected to a folk holiday in Ukraine celebrated on New Year’s Eve known as “Malanka”, somewhat similar to Christmas in its festivities but with a depth of its own traditions unique to eastern Europe, and it wasn’t even the intended holiday of Leontovych’s original composition, first performed in Kyiv in 1916. An American composer, importantly one descending from the Rusyns of modern-day Ukraine, heard the composition, which made its way to New York in the 1920s, and wrote English lyrics relating to Christmas though, interestingly, Peter J. Wilhousky is nowhere to be seen in the artist credits for this version, being relegated to a writing credit on Spotify.
There are many versions of this song but by far the most popular is the rendition by John Williams, an icon in film scoring who arranged the song alongside a children’s choir performance for the 1990 film Home Alone, which has aged pretty well - mostly because it’s practically just slapstick of a kid torturing these two idiots - and has become a Christmas classic, particularly in eastern Europe, where its release lined up pretty nicely with more lenient restrictions on western films, so it became one of the first western family films seen by many children beyond the Iron Curtain just as it fell, which does make the use of Leontovych’s composition come full circle in a way. Personally, I’ve always found this song a tad eerie and intense, but Williams’ version of “Carol of the Bells” is the only one to have charted in the UK, and it first reached the top 100 in 2018. Additionally, the main theme from Home Alone, “Somewhere in My Memory”, spent one week at #69 in 2019. The #1 that week was “Sweet but Psycho” by Ava Max, and John Williams has charted a few times with singles and many, many other times on the albums chart, for his work in film scoring. Last year, the Home Alone soundtrack made its very first appearance there at #100, and this year, probably assisting with the new peak of this song, the actor who played the boy Kevin McCallister, Macaulay Culkin, received a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the film itself was inducted into the Library of US Congress’ National Film Registry.
#71 - “Entrapreneur” - Central Cee
Produced by Chris Rich and Caleb Bryant
Alright, let’s cut the Christmas crap for a second as we do have a new song from Cench charting, and whilst Jeezy has made that awkward pun before, this is still a completely fine, maybe even pretty good, drill track with a very energetic performance from Cench here and despite some very odd mixing that makes the percussion feel stiff and the bass less present than it should be, I still think it hits hard amidst the soaring strings and keys at the back of the mix that is surprisingly dynamic at times, it almost feels like it’s going for a cloud rap vibe but instead of fully submerging the listener, Cench submerges any need for the instrumental by bringing a lot of charisma, some funny lines and a whole lot of triumphant flexing that given the motivation in his voice here and some genuinely likeable lyrics, actually feels pretty deserved. Sure, he sticks to the same flow, but it’s one that works and seems to serve his best interests lyrically as he can fit all of his wordy bars into it, so I’d say this is ultimately a success.
#67 - “Deck the Halls” - Nat King Cole
Produced by Lee Gillette
Another Lee Gillette production in the same week, huh, I guess the guy was the go-to for soulful Christmas tracks. I’m never going to complain about hearing Nat King Cole’s rich voice… except for this song, misspelled as “Deck the Hall” on Spotify, where it feels like everything’s a bit too fast for the guy, I almost feel bad. It’s a very spritzy and string-heavy song that just ends up too chintzy to give Nat King Cole any time. Hell, I’ll be honest - this one sucks, it’s way too busy and barely anyone could pull off this dead-on-arrival fa-la-la-la song anyway unless you’re a cartoon character but I haven’t seen the Animaniacs chart in my lifetime so this is a carol I’ve never preferred. As for this song’s chart history, this is its second week on the chart, and only this version has ever charted to my knowledge, debuting at #84 last year. That’s not to say people haven’t recorded and performed this song that aren’t named Nat King Cole because by God, they have, though not nearly as much as a song we’ll be talking about in a few paragraphs’ time. As for the original composition, it dates back to the traditional Welsh carol “Nos Galan”, which is actually about New Year’s Eve and both its tune and lyrics were written around the 1700s, but English lyrics by Scotsman Thomas Oliphant in 1862 brought us the carol we know today, so this one is a bit more historied than Rudolph, especially with popularising the now universal phrase of “’tis the season”. I don’t even like the slower, original Welsh version of this, it’s just a pestering little song to me. Never done well to my knowledge. Next.
#63 - “This Christmas” - Donny Hathaway
Produced by Ric Powell and Donny Hathaway
This is a pretty weird one because yes, this version of the song has never charted in the UK’s top 100 before. That much is true… but I have reviewed it, and in 2020 in fact, so dig up that old episode, right? Well, maybe not, because the only reason I reviewed it is because a Jess Glynne version charted that year, and it was an Amazon original version, that I ended up comparing to the original, one of my favourite ever Christmas songs, in complete despair and almost disgust. Hathaway has a buttery but unabashedly joyful voice, he came up with that iconic gleeful horn line and that clever, sleek title-drop in the verses, and like I said in 2020, lest we forget the bongos. It’s a detailed, beautiful song that was first released in 1970, with the B-side “Be There”, which is probably why OCC questionably lists this song as “This Christmas Be There”. Said B-side is the other holiday single tacked onto his self-titled album and whilst not as catchy or canonical, it is more of a melodramatic tune with just as many intricacies, it’s really an underrated gem to be honest. It took a while for “This Christmas” to latch on, only really resurging in 1991 when included on a reissued Christmas compilation record. It didn’t chart on the US Billboard Hot 100 until 2020 and has finally made it to the UK’s singles chart in its original form. The malformed Jess Glynne butchering made it to #3 in 2021, and “Last Christmas” was #1 that week too. It briefly returned in 2021 but only peaked at #52 that year and has not appeared again so I’m assuming the UK has come to their senses and made the correct decision about which one to enjoy from this year onward.
#60 - “Jingle Bells” - Frank Sinatra
Produced by Voyle Gilmore
It is a disgrace that Meghan Trainor’s version outcharts Frankie, but there is some solace in knowing Trainor’s version may be like Jess Glynne’s “This Christmas” and end up as a one-year-only success. It’s not like it matters though, “Jingle Bells” may be the most-recorded song in human history, and is definitely at least one of them, even though it was never explicitly about Christmas… though the song was originally titled “This One Horse Open Sleigh” so part of me thinks that James Lord Pierpoint, the song’s writer and Confederate soldier - yikes - had at least Father Christmas in mind when composing the jingle. Pierpoint even wrote music for the losing side in the Civil War and ended up on the opposing side of his father in the Union Army - Jesus, the less we know about the guy who wrote the song, the better, what a loser. Anyway, like 70,000 Goddamn people have dashed through the snow to get to the studio and record this track, so it’s safe to say the song has reached beyond its obscure writer at this point. It’s been broadcast from space, for God’s sake.
Sinatra, or more accurately Gilmore, extends the song with an unnecessary spelling section from a choir, but otherwise the 1948 recording is a lot of fun with a classic, swingin’ performance from Frankie as one would expect, especially when he has some fun with the cadence of the track, even if he doesn’t do it all too much. The song is such a staple that it’s been implemented into other Christmas standards for years, and not just “Jingle Bell Rock”, which I consider so separate to be its own song so I’ll wait for another cover of that next year before I get into that chart history, but also it’s a motif heard in Bing Crosby’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas”, the guitar… solo(?) in Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song” and even Joni Mitchell’s “River”. As for the original, I mean, it’s been covered by everybody from Herb Alpert to the Beatles to the Barenaked Ladies to Barney the Dinosaur to Eric Clapton to Gladys Knight to Pearl Jam to the Wiggles to CBeebies’ Goddamn Alphablocks but the versions that charted are as follows.
The first version of the original “Jingle Bells” to chart in the modern chart was… a reggae version by Judge Dread, who if you know anything about him, is not exactly a wholesome Christmas artist, and of course, it’s actually a vulgar, laddish version using the melody to talk about having sex on Christmas with some girl. I’ve talked about Judge Dread on this blog before in my special episode from 2021 about songs banned by the BBC, in which I included a lot more of his story. To be completely honest, his version is a lot of fun, especially with how carelessly he delivers it all, and it peaked at #64 for two weeks in 1978, during which “Mary’s Boy Child / Oh My Lord” by Boney M. was #1. It’s currently at #51. In 1981, a novelty version by the Hysterics that lasts for only less than a minute and a half, peaked at #44 for three weeks. Subtitled “(Laughing All the Way)”, it is simply a guy laughing obnoxiously to the tune of the song as a cartoon-sounding pop-rock version plays under him. It is profoundly stupid. “Don’t You Want Me” by the Human League was #1 during these three very cursed weeks in British history. In 2005, whoever the Hell was behind the Crazy Frog mashed up the song with “U Can’t Touch This”, which apparently warrants it a separate Wikipedia page, and it peaked at #5 whilst Nizlopi’s “JCB”, a personal nostalgic song for me, was #1. Another EDM version by Basshunter peaked at #35 in 2008, when Alexandra Burke’s cover of “Hallelujah” was #1. It’s safe to say that both 2000s Eurodance versions of “Jingle Bells” are cheap and ridiculous. Last year, Sam Ryder’s Amazon-exclusive version from an Amazon-exclusive Christmas film charted at #41 - “Last Christmas” was of course at #1 that week - and this week, we see both versions by Meghan Trainor and Frank Sinatra charting. He originally recorded it in 1948 but it only started charting two weeks ago. Oh, and of course, Batman smells and Robin laid an egg.
#58 - “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” - Mariah Carey
Produced by Walter Afanasieff and Mariah Carey
Mr. President, a second - okay, more accurately, third - Mariah Carey Christmas song has hit the canon… and I have no idea why you’d listen to this slightly-oversung, dull 1994 rendition over the Darlene Love original, which has a slightly similar story to “This Christmas” though arguably more organic. It wasn’t a single when added to Phil Spector’s Christmas compilation album - he would later murder a woman, of course - but the track, released in 1963 and featuring Cher on backing vocals, who would later cover the song as a duet with the surprisingly-still-alive (especially if she knew Spector, sheesh) Ms. Love, 60 years later - yes, that’s this year - on her own Christmas album. Sadly, that one didn’t chart but Carey’s instead. Love’s version gained popularity simply because in the late 80s, talk-show host David Letterman just liked the song and continued to invite her year upon year to perform it on his show, which is adorable.
In the UK, the original version didn’t chart until after Bublé’s - sigh - which didn’t last, peaking at #47 for two weeks in 2011 and briefly coming back in the bottom-feeder region in 2015. When it peaked, the #1 was “Cannonball” by Little Mix, and then “Wherever You Are” by the Military Wives and Gareth Malone, that year’s Christmas #1. Love’s version first charted here in 2017, though her other Christmas song, “All Alone on Christmas”, featured on the Home Alone 2 soundtrack - starring a man who I’m pretty sure James Lord Pierpoint would have voted for - peaked at #31 in 1992, during which the #1 was predictably Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” would eventually peak at #22 in 2018 and is currently charting at #31, whilst Carey’s version reaches a new peak this year after first charting in 2021, and with that, we are done with 2023’s Christmas episodes of REVIEWING THE CHARTS. Also, did you know U2 had a version of this? …Why?
Conclusion
This wasn’t really a conventional episode, was it? I can’t really fairly give Best of the Week out, or the worst for that matter, because these are songs I hold very few notable opinions on and spent most of the time just talking about their origins and their chart success. With that said, screw “Deck the Halls”, thank you for reading and I’ll see you next… year!

A-T-3 332 Party Season
Big records that have become perennial party 'jams' since there release in 1983
These first ones you will and have heard in every town bar and club and are guaranteed to get women up singing and dancing (Dj rule number 2 get the women dancing and the boys will follow.) They're as safe as a Wu-Tang t-shirt or Calvin Harris record, and all favourites with your average habitual BBC 6 Music listener
Rufus & Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody this was released in November 1983 but didn't chart in the UK until March 1984. I'm not sure if this is because it had a later release date across the rest of the world the P+C's all read 1983 so that's no help. It's included on Greg Wilson's UK club floor fillers for 1983 and he'd know https://electrofunkroots.co.uk/greg-wilsons-top-10-floorfillers-december-83/
youtube
David Bowie - Let's Dance Nile Rodgers so much to answer for
youtube
Talking Heads - This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) not quite the draw to the floor the two above have maybe more of a sit down for Christmas cocktails and food, saying that I've seen it fill a dance floor many times if the clientele is middle-class enough. Talking Heads are almost as safe as Fleetwood Mac nowadays. The album Speaking In Tongues is released in 1983, it's lead single Burning Down The House didn't chart in the UK but tracks like those mentioned above and Girlfriend Is Better have become hugely popular through mainstream radio play. As a smart-arse I'd probably play Moon Rocks off the album, out. Wally Baradou's keyboard playing is brilliant on this album
youtube
Now here are a few soul night staples from 1983
O'Jays - Put Our Heads Together silk, and a complete D Train rip-off co-written and produced by Keni Burke of The Five Stairsteps
youtube
Fatback Band - I Found Lovin' only released as a single in the UK on a UK label, this'll be some UK rep saying to the label in the US I Found Lovin' off the With Love is blowing up in the clubs over here you have to put it out as a single and the US label not being arsed
youtube
So slightly less mainstream than the two above but these following tracks may find there way onto an 80s soul comp
D Train - Music (Remix) not as big or influential as D Train's Your The One For Me or Keep On, it still got to 23 on the UK's single chart which was better that the two tracks above. It also contains the 'M.U.S.I.C. Deep Inside Of Me' Sample which was huge, especially with British producers. Like all D Train's best tracks mixes come from François Kevorkian - the Dub Version is especially spacial
youtube
I'm filling up the remaining links from my Tumblr quota with still massive club hits and still on 80s soul comps but they are probably less known by a mainstream audience
Cuba Gooding - Happiness Is Just Around The Bend on the subject of samples popular with UK producers here's another big one that's to the acapella on the b-side. Main Ingredients singer and father of disgraced actor Cuba Gooding, Jr. produced Arthur Baker, arranged by Fred Zarr, sampler programmed by John Robie, and it's a cover of a Brian Auger track
youtube
Status IV - You Ain't Really Down - "You Just Ain't For Real" sample popular from the house days, yup there's an acapella on this one too. Written by Toney Lee who made Reach Up, produced Eric Mathew and again released on Matthew's Radar label
youtube
Tracy Weber - Sure Shot (Instrumental) another produced by Eric Matthew. Sure Shot originally came out in 1981 but this instrumental came out on the b-side of One Step At A time in 1983 - probably thanks to Larry Levan and the play he gave it at the Paradise Garage
youtube
Surface - Falling In Love big record, Shep Pettibone mix, never heard this version before

Do you know any jokes?
10/19/2010
Tumblr media
hmmmm it looks like some new ponies are showing up to my diary. I'm kinda... kinda scared of that, but I'm 99% sure you guys can't really read my diary, just put stuff into it. Weird-ass magic diary bruh. Might as well write to you guys and not write bad things about you behind your backs in my diary tho. Just in case.
I'm watching you
Well, uh, "primrose-petals"... HELL YEAH I KNOW SOME JOKES! I got coached in joke-telling by the party pony Pinkie Pie herself, and besides, Im fricken DJ PON-3! Gotta know how to make the ponies laugh if you want them to dance, you know what I'm sayin? I don't cuz that's just something Pinkie told me but she's the Element of Laughter (yeah I finally got the deets from her on that, tell you more about it later)
Okay, here's the jokes!!!!!!!!! This one came straight from the horse's mouth yesterday night and I really do love it a lot, Prim (can I call you Prim?)... She even wrote it down for me, but to really get the joke I gotta set the stage! Ok, so here I am walkin through ponyville carrying my subwoofers and turntables on my back and WOW is it heavy. I go into Sugercube Corner for a cupcake and Pinkie and the Rainbow Dash almost crash into me. So, anyway, Pinkie tells me the joke, it's "An elephant and hippopotamus were taking a bath. And the elephant said to the hippo, 'Please pass the soap.' The hippopotamus replied, 'No soap... radio!!!'" and she says it in such a funny way and of course Pinkie's guffawing her lungs out with Rainbow Dash chuckling and looking expectantly at me that I can't help but start grabbing my sides in mirth and rolling on the floor laughing! Too bad about my turntable and Sugarcube Corner's floors. But I just had to laugh, for Pinkie Pie's sake if not for the jokes! I got home and told Octy the joke but she didn't get it so. i know i did my good deed for yesterday.
Ok ok I know that was a somewhat pretty, uh, racist joke (I'm not racist. Neither should you.) But here are some more: "Singing in the shower is fun until you get soap in your mouth. Then it's a soap opera!"; "Dad: 'Son, I need some laundry soap right now, quick! Quick!' Son: 'Gee, dad, do you haveta rush me like?' Dad: 'Of course, Jesse. The situation here really is dat urgent!' "; "I went to jail for the first time and I ok maybe not that one
But those were all just Pinkie's jokes! Now some one of mine: "What did Buckingham Palace say to the Trottinghammers on Sky Fawkes Day no "What did Ted Bunty get for Christmas? nuh uh "How many foals does it take to paint a DEFINITELY NOT "An irishmare walks out of a bar" maybe? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm no. "A family act walks into a Canterlot talent agency headed by Filthy Rich himself and I forgot the middle but the punchline is that the family call their act, "The Aristocrats!"
so maybe i dont know any appropriate jokes. all these ones Octavia told me earlier are a bit too risky (especially that foal one...) (Damn you, Octavia!)
Speaking of Pinkie, I saw her today in Sugarcube Corner again when I went in for another cupcake. She gasped and grinned real big when she saw me, like she usually does cuz she knows it makes me laugh, and thanked me for laughing at her no soap radio joke yesterday. (I think she knows I was just being polite...) Anyhoo, I asked her about how she knows Rainbow Dash and it led her to talking about their whole-ass journey! And this is a CRAAAAAAAAAAAZY journey Pinkie went on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, Luna be damned!!! (sorry sorry sorry too soon, too soon.)
Ok so here's the second half of what Pinkie told me: so Nightmare Moon came back on the Summer Sun Celebration and kidnapped Celestia to take her place as ruler so she could put Equestria under eternal night (I called all of that, by the way!! Whattaya think now, huh Octy???) and so six ponies went on a wild goose chase for the Elements of Harmony to stop her: Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash!, that Twi mare (that was a shock! she's more of a homebody to me), Applejack, and a couple mares called Fluttershy and Rarity. They eventually really got the elements and BECAME THE ELEMENTS! Wotta buckin' sweet free upgrade they all got in coolness! Especially Rainbow Dash! She's gotta be like... way cooler now!
I was gonna ask Pinkie more about what Rainbow Dash's like but I saw the time and hadda go to my. lessons. with Octavia. OH but Pinkie Pinkie Promised me she would take me to see all her other friends on her day off tomorrow and so I'll get to see Rainbow Dash!!!!!
Well um. it's time for my lessons. My lessons with Octavia. Tavi, Tavi, Tavi, Tavi Tavi Tavi Tavi Tavi! Hahaha yeah I'm so good at the things she's trying to teach me naturally. No more questions!
speaking of which, DONT YOU DARE READ MY DIARY PAGE FROM TWO DAYS AGO OR I WILL . CUT YOUR HIND-LEG STANDING FACES OUTTA MY DIARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
