If Astruc didn't want this to be about Adrien and is unwilling to give him a satisfying conclusion, why didn't he just put Gabriel as MARINETTE'S father?

Literally just swap their parents and boom, Adrien has a happy family life and Astruc has an excuse not to give him an arc, while Marinette can overcome her neglectful father and grow as a more interesting protagonist.

I mean, Marinette had a bit of development, but not much? He didn't set her up to be a very interesting character, and the few interesting traits he gave her (e.g. wanting to be a fashion designer) are rarely acknowledged. So giving her Adrien's parents would open up opportunities for her to struggle with wanting to be a fashion designer while dealing with a controlling and neglectful father who IS a fashion designer and can use that to his advantage.

Meanwhile Adrien can just be a blandly perfect trophy like Astruc wants. It'd be a shame for his character, but at least it'd make more sense and we wouldn't have the same expectations for him.

I'm starting to wonder if Astruc is slowly trying to creep in the PV to the show. First we get cousin Félix who was PV Félix and is the cousin of Adrien. Then we get sister Zoé who was supposedly a missing member of Marinette's posse and is the sister of Chloé. Finally we get former classmate Socqueline who was designed after Bridgette and was the first to stand up to Chloé which kinda makes Alya irrelevant but oh well.

Makes you wonder if Astruc is deliberately sabotaging the show so he can get his PV back up. It certainly would explain why this seems to be the only storyline in Miraculous with any legitimate effort put into it.

I do tend to believe that's there's just...a lot we're not seeing that is more "yikes". What we do see is relatively low-key but then I'm reminded of the animator they had on staff that would do drawings of Marinette undressed, or even the comic series where somehow Marinette ends up in a dumpster in New York naked. That's *without* mentioning all of the story issues and character choices. This could be the most cursed series since Glee lol.

I totally get that! Astruc gives me a very werid vibe as well. Like how he refuses to even think about people's complaints how that comic panel with the guy named "ghetto blaster" might have been racist, or how he sees no problem with sexualising Marinette (I remember a tweet of him where he showed a little drawing of Marinette in a bikini that he apparently keeps in his wallet, which... big yikes). I don't understand what is going on inside his head and just to make clear, I do not respect this man.

What I meant with my comment on that one post (I assume your ask refers to that) was that the thing about the girls in the show being based on his exes is a rumor and I just don't think it's a good idea to treat those as facts. There's enough wrong with Astruc, we don't need to make stuff up to call him out for, u know? I think making up rumors like that would lead to Astruc (and probably also his fans) taking all those critizisms even less serious, in a way of "those damn haters pulled those accusation right out of their ass, why would I listen to any of their other complaints". I just think it gets nobody anywhere🤷🏻‍♀️

But yeah, whatever his reasons might be, we can still agree that the show isn't feminist at all when the girl characters are treated worse compared to guy characters. The misogyny is reflected in the show's writing. Marinette being the number one punching bad and the reason that everything goes wrong all the time while Adrien is a sunshine boy who can never do wrong is misogynistic. Kagami being mean to Mari while Luka is chill with Adrien is misogynistic. Chloe being portrayed as an irredeemable bitch while Gabriel, a fucking terrorist, will probably get away with everything and will probably be redeemed is misogyny. Regardless if any exes of Astruc have to do with it, it sucks and the show should be called out for it.

So is it bad that I still like Chloé in spite of Astruc's bullshit. Yeah her not redeeming stings and I agree, but I still find her funny and realize being an egotistical diva is part of her character (and let's be real, watching a near 50 year old man act like a fictional teenager pissed in his cornflakes is pretty pathetic, no matter what you think of Chloé) and Season 4 had some genuinely funny moments with her if you can look past all the BS with Zoé.

I personally think it's fine to like Chloe. I like Chloe. I don't really enjoy her character much now but I don't enjoy anyone's character now so can't really hold that against her.

I also think it doesn't matter what people tell you (yes that includes the makers of the very character), you are allowed to like whatever character you want. It's pretty awesome that you're still loving Chloe. Even after all the turmoil the show, show writers, and fandoms have put ya through you're still going on strong! Ashamed to say I've nearly given up on Chloe but she's, again, not the only character. I still love them enough to write fanfics but I am just not strong enough to watch the show much anymore. I hate Astruc's attitude towards Chloe and her fans so I can't blame ya for being ticked. He can be quite rude. Or well... he's almost always rude when it comes to Chloe, I should say. Not to mention he fails to think things through. I don't get why he refuses to forgive and forget the bully he based her off of. Like I'm totally for writers writing in a character based on someone they don't like just to kill them off later or give them a small punishment in the story that's not too important. I get that. It helps ya process and calm down and let go. But in Astruc's case it only seems to fuel his rage? The man ticks me off but I can't help but feel bad for him when it comes to things like this. Off-topic; Anyway, no, it's not bad you like Chloe. You do you. You're allowed to like whatever character you like and the characters you like should not be a reason to judge you. I like Signora from Genshin Impact a little too much and she's a horrible person. I don't think I'd have any right judging you if I wanted to anyway! I love your icon and name, btw! Nice rarepair! MLB fandom Math be like ......

MLB fandom Maths is calling Adrienette toxic because they dislike Marinette's obsessive behaviour of Adrien and accuse her of stalking but ship Feligami despite how Felix also stalked Kagami and did worse than Marinette by kidnapping her.

MLB fandom Maths is hating on Kagami because she is getting in the way of Adrienette by having feelings for Adrien but is fine with Luka dating Marinette and supporting Luka at the same time.

MLB fandom Maths is saying Chloe doesn't deserve redemption because she never felt remorse or properly apologized for her actions but at the same time, forgive Felix and support his redemption arc despite him doing worse than Chloe and not uttering a single apology or properly repenting for his crimes.

MLB fandom Math is slandering Alya because they think she is a bad friend for believing Lila over Marinette as well as making a few ignorant decisions but go ahead and call Kagami a better friend despite her telling Felix LB's identity without her permission.

MLB fandom Math is attacking and cancelling small creators by accusing them of predator behaviour when they have made a slight mistake but are silent when a big content creator is openly showing predator behaviour.

MLB fandom Math is being quick to call out the toxic behaviour of some Chloe/Felix/Lila stans but staying quiet when some toxic Maribug/Adrichat or Adrienette stans also show signs of aggression, some even go as far as to support their behaviour (e.g what happened to that one Lila fan)

MLB fandom Math is celebrating the fact Chloe gets sent off to live with her abusive mother and is glad that she is written out of the show, justifying their opinion by saying she deserves to be abused by Audrey but if you say the same thing about Felix, they will go mad and call you an abuse apologist

MLB fandom math dislikes Sabrina's redemption because she only betrayed Chloe because she wasn't being benefitted by her friendship with Chloe and was being replaced but go ahead and support Nathalie's redemption when she ALSO betrayed Gabriel because she was also not being benefitted anymore by their partnership.

Ok but really- why is Adrien so famous in the miraculous universe??

He’s literally just a child/teen model. Like yeah he’s the son of famous and renown fashion designer, but do those things together really explain why this kid has fans swarming and chasing him whenever they get the chance, and even recognition internationally? (Like when Ladybug said the hat she made was from a Brazilian fan club- for a 5th name’s day of all things- that was perfectly reasonable to him.)

And yeah, he gets into things like voice acting later on, but he just started out as the son of s famous guy who modeled for his father’s company. I’m also pretty sure he only got those roles bc he was already famous. Even Marinette, being a huge fan of Gabriel because of her love of fashion, only thought Adrien was familiar looking when she first met him (she had to look him up just to know the connection).

(Granted, she does fall into that creepy obsessive stalker mode later, but I’m not making this post to talk about bad character writing.)

Obviously, people have always had crushes on and gone crazy over public figures, but I don’t really see how a teen clothing model from France could get this much global attention and devotion?

…then again, a kids weather girl competition also got a massive amount attention and fans, so I guess obsessing over children (unfortunately and creepily) a normal occurrence in this universe. Not to mention how people later treat Adrien and Kagami’s “relationship” on the Alliance rings.
