Admittedly it's taken binge watching to bring it to the fore but it never fails to amuse me just how ship!driven Gina is and how she enjoys participating in the gossip of people falling in love/flirting/getting together.

She is a complete cliché of a trope, God love her! The woman who can't deal with her own feelings/relationships/let most people close to her and who broke up with Adam ONLY because she knew he wanted to have children and she was infertile is also the same woman who loves other people falling in love and can - depending who it is - be the adult version of the kid shoving two dolls at each other shouting "NOW KISS!" She's also the mother of her entire relief of overgrown children police officers.

Early PM Gina is currently shipping Tiny Ears Luke and Kerry whilst simultaneously shipping Craig and Luke. She just doesn't know that her Pet Sgt's mystery man is Luke yet. She only knows that he has BIIIIG FEEEEELLLLIIINNNNGZ for someone (and he's driving her mad that he won't tell her who it is!) and she lights up like this....

... each time she gets some more information out of Craig, especially when she finds out they've kissed. She makes sure to ask him how his love life is and if there's any updates on his Mystery Man almost every single time they chat and tells him to essentially just grab him and go for it! (Later she'll also be the one who finds Craig and Luke in bed together on the morning of Luke and Kerry's wedding and has to run around trying to keep a lid on it as well as deal with the situation and bash Craig about the head for it).

(though how the woman who sees all and knows all has not realised what's going on right under her nose I really don't know!)

She's often teasing - or admonishing Smithy for his bad choices* around women over the years, especially when it's Kerry who to Gina at least has treated Smithy very badly over the last few weeks of her life - including unofficially accusing him of rape and then refusing to decide whether or not she's making it official and almost getting him murdered by Irene and her sons (though she doesn't know that bit which always wrangled with me! Especially as Irene went on to kidnap Gina herself!)

*Let's face it, the only women he's kissed on-screen who haven't gone on to die in a v horrible way (that we know of!) are Cherry from Bad Habits, the irritating shop assistant in A Night To Forget/A Day To Remember and Stevie! (Potentially the nurse in Zero Tolerance but I don't think that went anywhere - at least not onscreen). Ah and not forgetting (sadly!) Kezia.

In the 400's, Rod has just asked June out for a date and Gina is behind the front desk, veeeeeeerrrrry slowly but obviously stepping forward to listen in whilst pretending she isn't and then teases June about it.

She's still teasing her about it like 10 eps on:

If only she'd actually opened up to Jonathan when she'd gone to do so to tell him that she was ready to commit - but then didn't because he was leaving Sun Hill (and only leaving because she wouldn't commit!)😢

What Happens in Vegas (2008)

What Happens in Vegas might have a few laughs, but this is a romantic comedy - it should be bursting with them. It should also be romantic instead of manufactured and clichéd. The picture's so bereft of originality, you’ll start forgetting it as soon as the end credits start to roll. What's the point?

High-strung Joy (Cameron Diaz) and commitment-phobic Jack (Ashton Kutcher) wake up after a night of partying in Las Vegas. Good news? They've won three million dollars. Bad news? They also got married while intoxicated. They both agree to get divorced and split the money but are forced by a judge (played by Dennis Miller) to six months “hard marriage”. Only if they prove to him that they tried to make their relationship work will they get their winnings.

The premise is idiotic. As if a United States judge would force two strangers to live together for six months! It’s preposterous and leads nicely (well, not really) into the “comedy” of this film. If Joy or Jack aren't "fully committed" to the relationship, they'll lose their half of the cash. This means repeated attempts to make their marriage hell for the other person. Let me repeat that. It’s a romantic comedy during which the lovers spend the entire time trying to make each other miserable. If that doesn’t spell “date night that ends in a breakup”, I don’t know what does!

The constant bickering between Jack and Joy makes both of them extremely unlikable. For 1.5 million dollars, you’d think they’d be willing to split the apartment fairly, or sit down and talk to ensure neither of them winds up dead, but no. What transpires is essentially a slightly more pleasant version of “The Break-Up”, but with a more clichéd ending. If you can’t see where this picture is going 5 minutes in, it’s probably because you’ve never seen a bad romantic comedy before, in which case I’m sorry to say your luck has run out.

Talking about the surface of this film is dull. What’s slightly more interesting is discussing the weird little details. I’m nearly certain this PG movie was conceived with a hard R rating. There are many weird lines that either don’t lead anywhere or don’t make sense. For example, we’re told by Jack’s best friend Hater (Rob Corddry) that Joy’s racked up a $25,000 charge on his credit card. Why? How?! She’s the one that’s employed, not him! There are also many exchanges where four-letter words have been obviously removed via find-replace, including a censored song during the end credits (speaking of which, there are several scenes during those, so stick around if you want).

Do you feel like sitting down for 99 minutes and waiting for Ashton Kutcher to realize that maybe being married to Cameron Diaz isn’t so bad!? I know I wouldn’t, but I did to warn you. This is a film filled with stupid people put in a situation that might as well have been concocted by aliens. More interesting than what happens on-screen is the fact that many big actors or actors that later became big (Jason Sudeikis, Lake Bell, Queen Latifah, Zach Galifianakis) show up in small roles that waste their comedic talents and the film’s puzzling tendency to nearly throw foul language at us before pulling back. What Happens in Vegas isn't worthy of hatred or worth spending one more second discussing it. (On DVD, September 27, 2017)

My Thoughts

As with every Heart2Heart Anthology I read, there were some hits, and there were some misses. But overall, we’re gonna keep this review short and sweet.

I loved the concept of this anthology, and each story was interesting, and unique. I loved some more than others, and I’ve definitely added a couple of new authors to my future reading list.

Every time I read one of these anthologies, I wait in impatient anticipation for the next one. And luckily for me, there’s the Paranormal half I get to explore next!
