hope ur well and thank you!!
-💫
of course, anything for you dear. this took so long!!!! sorry i’ve been so dead lately, life is tryna whoop my ass. i was playing botw and changed into the barbarian set and…… yeah. you know how it “bolsters links fighting spirit”? in my head it just makes him a lot more feral so it makes him horny too. i hope you like it! and i hope you feel better soon! i promise that these rough times will pass 🌟
cw: he’s a little mean, doggy, forest sex, reader is implied to be shorter than him, slight predator/prey dynamics, y’all are just messing around… or are you? reader has a vagina no pronouns, not proofread <3
minors do not interact.

you played with wild’s stuff all the time. he didn’t mind so long as you didn’t hurt yourself. his swords, his bows, and especially his armor. no matter how many rupees he’d spend buying you whatever clothes you wanted, you were always fascinated with his instead.
his knights armor was heavy and sturdy. his climbing gear showed off his toned arms. his sheikah armor had you drooling.
the only set you hadn’t seen on him was the barbarian armor. you always wondered about the set. the headpiece was just a little scary, so you asked him what the armor was for when it covered so… little.
“it makes me a little more…. it’s easier to fight.”
he left it at that, but it made you curious. so it made him stronger, but you wanted to see that firsthand. you asked him if he’d put it on for you to which he shied away. “i don’t think you’d like it…”
you rolled your eyes, begging him to do it, just once. he eventually caved. when he did, you immediately realized why he was hesitant to show you his armor.
he looked fucking divine.
the way it exposed the best parts of him had you salivating. you circled him, trailing your gaze up and down his body. the tattoos that manifest on his torso and legs... you wanted to taste them for yourself. “i cannot believe you hid this from me,” you mumbled. you wrapped your arms around him, tracing his skin with your fingertips. you could hear his breath hitch as you teased him relentlessly.
suddenly he grabbed your wrists, looking at you with a hardened gaze.
“i’m not sure if we should… do that right now.”
you could tell wild was holding himself back, so you decided to kick it up a notch. you dropped to your knees in front of him, batting your eyelashes when he hisses. your hands trailed down to his thighs, nails scratching the skin ever so slightly. “come on, you don’t wanna have fun? at least let me– oh!”
the grip on your wrists tightened, and you were locked in place. your heated gaze met his, and you shuddered. he looked like he was about to eat you alive. wild’s nostrils flared as he stared down at you, seemingly trying to keep himself together. he slowly leaned down, eyes never leaving yours.
“sure, let’s have some fun.”
that’s how you ended up deep in the forest, heart racing and wild hot on your trail. this was harder than you thought, but it was definitely exciting. the deal he made you was simple. just a quick game of hide and seek.
“you get five minutes. if you win, you get your way. if i win, i get mine.”
you took off as soon as he uttered the word ‘run’, excited giggles ringing in his ears as he watched you. he waited til you were out of sight, and even gave you an extra minute. after counting, he started walking at a leisurely place in the direction you took off in, grinning to himself.
sure, this was a little unfair. you didn’t stand a chance against him without the set, let alone with it. but you didn’t need to know that. you wanted to have some fun, so he’ll entertain you. wild wondered how long you’d last when he finally got you under him.
you stopped to catch your breath, hands on your knees as you panted. surely this was far enough. you'd been running at full speed for a while, and you were sure at least 2 minutes had passed. you had to have gotten pretty far.
only moments later did you hear a loud “thud” from behind you. you spun around to be met with trees and shrubs, the silence making you uneasy. your eyes scanned the area only to find nothing. probably just some animal, right? even if it was, you weren’t gonna take the chance. you slowly backed away in the opposite direction of the noise, keeping an eye out for any movement.
when you turned back to run, you were met with the hard surface of someone’s chest. you groaned, rubbing your nose before your eyes widened at the sight of your boyfriend.
“i win, right?”
you opened your mouth to protest, quickly being cut off by him gripping your chin. his hold was gentle but the look in his eyes was anything but. “l-link?” he wore a twisted little grin, as if he’d just caught his first meal in days.
“so we’re doing this my way. i’ll still give you one choice. do you want it here, or do you want me to chase you back home?” your knees buckled at his words, your mind reeling. you couldn’t even begin to speak, sputtering out nothing but nonsense. wild huffed, grabbing your wrists and pinning you face first to the nearest tree. he pinned your arms on the side of you and spoke, “don’t move.” you nodded hastily.
“you know you look really cute when you run? it was hard not to take you right there. the wait was worth it, though,” he grinned. his fingers traced your spine, his hunger only growing as he watched you shiver.
wild placed a hand over your eyes and started trailing love bites down your neck. you whined. the bites felt hard enough to leave marks, yet you could still tell he was holding back. you pushed your ass back against him, trying to rile him up.
your boyfriend growled, suddenly biting down harshly on your neck. you whimpered loudly as your arms twitched with the need to move, which didn't go unnoticed.
"look at you, still trying to be a good pet. ah, its a little late though. you've already pushed me to my limit," he snarled, landing a smack to your ass. he watched the flesh jiggle, humming contentedly. without warning, your bottoms were ripped from you and thrown to the ground. the roles were now swapped, wild on his knees before you- well, behind you.
you felt him part your folds with his thumbs, watching your sex drip with arousal. you squealed at your sudden nudity, arms reaching back to grab him. he quickly put a stop to that, grabbing both wrists in one hand. "on the tree. don't interrupt me."
you obeyed his orders, bringing your arms back to yourself and placing them on the tree. once he was satisfied with your position, he gave no warning before licking a long stripe up your cunt. you moaned shakily, the pleasure between your legs making you tremble. wild hummed, tongue swiping across your clit at a rapid pace.
he ate you like a man starved, your position not allowing you any room to squirm. you moaned his name over and over, and it only seemed to make him more ravenous. a mix of spit and slick dripped down his chin while his nails dug into your thighs. he'd been waiting for this for far too long. "l-link, im gonna- keep going, please!"
your boyfriend wasn't listening to your whines, tongue fucking you until your eyes crossed. he was doing this for him.
only a couple moments later did you gush all over his face, legs shaking in his grasp. wild didn't stop even when you whimpered for him to slow down. he made sure you were licked clean before pulling away from your cunt.
"b-babe what- oh!"
you weren't sure when he undid his belt, but you felt the head of his cock push against your folds.
"you always taste fucking amazing. be sure to give me another taste later," he whispered in your ear. his buttercup blonde hair tickled your shoulder as he leaned over you. "that wasn't loud enough for me, though. maybe i just need to be a little rougher, then you'll scream for me right?"
without another word, he pushed his cock into your cunt making your eyes roll back into your head. it took no time for you to adjust to his size, and he took no time in starting up a mean pace. the sound of his hips slamming into yours rang in your ears, every pleasurable thrusts making your head spin. one hand left your hips to grab your hair, tugging slightly. you winced, the pain sending heat right to your cunt.
"oh, you like that? squeezing me so hard— so cute, baby, thinking you could beat me," he groaned. you could only respond with loud moans, your brain turned to mush. "sound so pretty, gonna cum?" you nodded frantically in response, begging for him to keep going. he watched your cunt suck him in, your ass jiggling with every mean thrust.
"p-please, feels good!" your words slurred together, drool beginning to drip from your chin. it was too much and yet you wanted more. he was hitting your g spot with every thrust, his balls slapped against your clit, and you couldn't imagine a better way for this game of yours to end. you heard him snarl before he picked up his pace.
"f-fuck! 'm my god yes!" a few more thrusts and you were spasming in between him and the tree. wild stopped his movements, relishing in the feeling of your cunt squeezing around him. he chucked to himself as he watched you writhe. he suddenly frowned, realizing he hadn't been able to see your face when you came. oh, well. he'll just make you cum again.
wild pulled out, turning you around and staring you in the eyes. he then watched as your chest rose and fell, mouth hung open as you tried to catch your breath. the ferocity that was temporarily sated was now rising again.
you yelped in surprise when he lifted you up, wrapping your legs around his waist. your back rested against the tree as you furrowed your brows in confusion. "b-babe?"
"you're so gorgeous. how many times do you think i could fuck you til your legs gave out?" he questioned casually, a dark smile on his face. your legs clenched against him, hands coming to rest on his shoulders while he held you up by your thighs. you swallowed thickly, unable to answer. "hm? three? four? or more than that? well, i guess we'll see..."
wild never broke eye contact as he slipped his cock back into you, not even giving you a moment before fucking you at a savage pace. your back arched against the tree as you squirmed in his grasp. he pounded himself deeper into your cunt, his growls getting louder and your vision beginning to turn white. he was too much, fucking you so mercilessly and yet you couldn't bring yourself to want to stop. is this what he meant? he thought you wouldn't like this?
"l-link!"
"hm?" he answered, never faltering in his pace.
"harder!" your boyfriend's eyes widened slightly in surprise before he huffed in disbelief. you just continued to surprise him. he adjusted his grip on your thighs, leaning in so that you two were nose to nose.
"i've always wanted to see how much you could take."

Pick a card: A message from your past life self! 🪦🗡
Tumblr media
Hello darlings! Today I bring you another pick a card- I felt the need to bring out some messages. The energy today is very much revolving around death- and it's relatively natural relation to life. So today I will bring you a pick a card- with a message of what your past self would tell you! Naturally this is a general message so take whatever resonates. All the love, Elias!
Pick a pile from 1, 2, 3 or 4!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Hello, my dear self. Some day you have wondered who you are- who you should become. But I want you to know that no matter whom you try to be- or whom you'll grow to believe says the right thing- it'll always be me whom you will come back to. I'm not scary. I'm you. I like to brace the horizon- with a smile and breathe in the morning air. I'm a morning person. I used to hunt birds- for food. And... truthfully- my life was never that long. I didn't get to experience my childhood as something I cherished. This is why you're not very good with people. I'm sorry that in this life- you too- struggle with being around crowds. You do- try to. Which is more than I ever did. I was more one with animals- nature- it's why... I never really got to be together with someone. Because I spent my life alone- you might feel like everyone hates you. Or suffer from anxiety everytime you try to make a friend- with your friends- or even the people you try to date or love. I'm sorry that this part of me- lingers- but no matter how it has manifested, it is what I desired most. Sometimes lives are so crowded that you just need one where you're by yourself. I did that already. You don't need to follow my example- because I want for you to flourish and be a butterfly. To do what I haven't. To be brave. To be bold. To dare. Dream. I know you think you're alone sometimes- but you're not! The spirits of all the animals I've taken care of- protect you still! It's amazing how loyal animals are. Yes- even your last pet. I know we have a special connection to animals- I know that we sometimes feel like they understand us- feel our energy- they do- but they won't create a depth in our emotional maturity and balance much like dramatic human relationships do. If you know me- you'd wish to have a life in social circles too. It wasn't fun. And I want to brace you to feel safe. To try and feel joy. To feel happiness. Try and do it when you can. Because that- will help me- and all of us before us. I'll be here to hug you. Because I'm your greatest supporter.
Tumblr media
Forgiveness, is what it takes. Forgive me. Forgive yourself. I'm not like you- nothing like you at all. I was vain. And cruel. And unkind. I didn't see what you see. I didn't- I couldn't. I couldn't see how people were able to be the exact same as the other- i couldn't see how every life was worth living. I killed for things. I cheated in life. I climbed the social ladders and I hurt my hands doing so. I really fell. I fell in the end and it was my ending. I didn't have a long life- because when I was found out- everything I worked for, was done for. I wanted to become better. I needed to be a better self. You don't. You don't need to do this. If you continue down this road- if you continue to try and improve- it won't make you happy. It won't make me happy either. I think it's time for us to forgive ourselves. Because sooner than later- we are all that we have. I've known this too late. Very late. You need to start appreciating the things you do have. The money you do have. The family you live with. The country you're in. The name you have been given. Consider it all. You're almost there- you're almost free of this crude self torture. Just one more step- release this attachment. Release your ideas of how things should be. Please allow yourself to just be. To just trust in me. To trust in you. In us. Trust that we can do it. That we can do whatever we set our minds to. You've inherited my determination- don't spoil it with waivering in uneasyness. Don't spoil my end- for your life to be worse than mine. Don't befriend toxic people. Don't walk towards the red flags. I need you to see. See whom you're talking to. See whom you share your mind with. See what you think of without your phone for an hour. I need you to feel yourself- to love yourself- to feel our own world is more than what you think it is and could be. Forgive me- I was never from your world- but I was the you- you needed to become whom you are now. Forgive me. I'm sorry.
Tumblr media
We aren't the same gender. I had to start with that. I've led a completely different existence based on my social norms and whom I was raised to become. If you're a fem energy- then I used to embody masculine. And vice versa. You might feel lingering touches of me- in the way that you can embody both energies. I want to say- I'm congratulating you- because I never dared or could. I lived very rigid. In a rigid place where I was expectant to preform a role in life. To be a provider- or a caretaker. I simply obeyed that life. I simply followed the norms. I don't want you to follow any norms other than your own. I fought bravely- I died gloriously- in battle- with a strong heart or perhaps not so strong considering it caved. I loved- I loved big. You inherited this. I loved my friends. My family. I even...loved another whom I couldn't be with. That longing for someone- I owe to you to release. I didn't really got the closure I needed. I didn't really tell this person- that my heart was theirs. And theirs alone. Yes- I've had children. I've done my duty- as was expected of me, but i didn't love my partner the way I loved this star crossed romantic ideal. It was an ideal. I never got to know them personally. It didn't matter. I liked to imagine what they would be like- and somehow that image of them was enough for me. I see you- I feel you, and your life is already so much more vibrant than mine. Thankyou! I truly- honestly, can say thank you. For being authentic- for truly honouring your own feelings. It doesn't matter what you become- or whom you'll chase- in the end, you've already done what you came here to do. For me- anyway. I think you're amazing. And you inspire me- and others, so much. So so so so so much. That truthfully- you should show yourself. To everyone. Haha. It isn't scary- remember your brothers- sisters- whom fought alongside you in the trenches- whom fought with you day and night to remain sovereign- to remain equal- to gain prowess and our voice back. Hang on Soldier- you have a long road to go. It'll be glorious- I can tell you that. From my point of view- your paving the way to a dream. I'll talk to you- in my mind- my world- my time- I talk to myself often actually, haha- but you will sometimes get more from talking to me too. Just... call me a friend you once were. And I'll be a friend to you too. It'll help greatly- I am indebted to you as much. Don't worry if you're not going to do it- I'm just here to give you the inspiration you need to get out there and flourish your shiny little way around the globe.
Tumblr media
My funny Valentine.... sweet comic valentine....you make me smile, with my heart. Listen to "My funny valentine" by Chat Baker or Frank Sinatra, because I am giving you this song as I look upon you darling. I know sometimes we don't truly like ourselves. But you don't need to become someone else to love whom you truly are. Because you already do- trust me- the whole of you- all of us- all of your lives- we love you as you are and will continue to do so fiercely. Honestly- we were wild. I was wild. Haha. I was a bit freakishly in love with everyone. Gradually- that changed a little into a more tamed version of loving and being. But you inherited a spark of love for loving. Maybe... still a little unfooted- but, priceless either way. Truly- priceless to see. I know you think some things are scaring you- but they aren't truthful. It isn't real. It's hard to have trust in that but just trust me. Trust you. I am nothing but a charmy and flourishing lovely cottonball. Haha- joking! But we all are a little vixenous sometimes, right? Perhaps you will see me when we go out, that I enter your mind more and you become more me than I become you. Channel the spirit of the sex! Baby! Who did you think you were!? Don't say you're ashamed... I was truly... a heartbreaker but I am kind? That counts for something right. Hmmmm, what to tell you. I haven't really got a message for you. To be honest I think we're currently on our recreational life. Just do whatever you want dearie. I've got no problem with it. But... do tell your mother something like- love you, when you leave. I know! People, right!? Strange creatures. But you will come to know the greatest of people. The biggest. Bestest. Friends. Ever. Haha- woooooo! I am excited already for you. Anyway- lovely for you to think of me- I always imagined myself to be a celebrity in your life so who knows!? Did we.... do it? Oh who knows! Maybe that's just a fantasy. But romantizing life is what we're made for so- go ahead. Think and imagine and write away. Poetry is lovely. I find you adorable. And if you continue- we might find some treasures along the way.

“Hey, you two. Where’s your aunt?”
“Having an existential crisis on the trampoline,” you hear Irey respond matter-of-factly.
“She’s no fun anymore,” Jai adds.
“Well, Bart just got here so—woah!”
Even you can feel the sharp gust of wind the twins create as they zoom off to see their cousin. Bart Allen runs at a million miles per hour—metaphorically and literally, so he and the twins get on like a house on fire.
Good thing everyone turned out for you and Steph’s pre-graduation party, otherwise Wally, Jay, and Max would have their hands full trying to make sure the three of them didn’t bring the house down.
And when you say everyone came, you really mean everyone.
That’s sort of the problem.
Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen were pleasant as always when they arrived—fifteen minutes late, the tardiness Barry is prone to considerably mitigated by his wife’s urging—and gave you big hugs in congratulations when they saw you.
“Well, early congratulations,” Barry amends, smiling.
“I just wish we could be there, too,” Iris says, letting you go.
You wave her off. Barry had a mission with the JL on the day of and Iris’s book tour was just starting, so there was no extra time to spare.
“No, it’s okay. Wally and Linda are already going, so that’s enough.”
“We’ll be there in spirit,” Barry says, grinning as Iris rolls her eyes. “Literally.”
Referring to the speed force and the way it tethers both speedsters and lightning rods. So, yeah, technically.
You chuckle. “Exactly. So, don’t worry.”
“We still wanted to give you our gift in person, though,” Iris says, passing you an envelope.
“You guys really didn’t have to but thank you.”
“‘Course we did,” Barry says. “You’re Wally’s… what is it? Close friend slash little sister slash niece? Us, well, we don’t mind seeing you as a niece.”
“Complicated labels aside,” Iris puts in, “you’re part of this family, too.”
And boy if that wasn’t going to choke you up.
You believe it now, almost a year since Wally revealed his identity; since then, you consider Keystone City and Central City as much of a home as Gotham. It was only inevitable that you met the others and you were lucky enough that they welcomed you with welcome arms.
But the ones part of this family are one and many. Not just the Garricks, not just the Wests, not just the Allens, not just Max Mercury, but—
“Ms. Chambers?”
Jesse Chambers grins at you. “Hey now, none of that. Here, Jesse works just fine. Pleasure to meet you. Everyone has had nothing but excellent things to say about you.”
Okay. Sure.
That bit is just a little obscured by your horrible confusion on how on earth she even knew everyone.
You have an inkling as to the answer but frankly, it feels impossible to believe. Not because you don’t think she is not capable of it but the fact that the whole billionaire-as-a-superhero/vigilante thing isn’t so uncommon as initially thought.
The confusion must be written all over your face. She laughs. Jay is at your side in the next instant, smiling at her in greeting.
“Sorry not to have told you sooner,” he tells you apologetically, though the smile pulling at his lips tells you he isn’t that sorry. “But we wanted to leave the decision up to her. And—”
“If you can keep these guys’ secret,” Jesse says, jerking a thumb to the kitchen, where Wally, Linda, Barry, and Iris are, “you can keep mine, too. Besides, you did great work during your internship. QE has had our eyes on you for a while.”
“Oh, you really don’t have to—”
“We want to,” she says. “We wouldn’t lose anything at all offering you a place with PR. But if you want to go somewhere else, that’s okay. I’d be happy to be a reference if so.”
Somehow, you managed to stammer out a thank you and get out of that situation without making a complete fool of yourself. Wally later told you Jesse taps into the speed force using an equation, which… sure, why not.
Jesse used to not like him, apparently, but recent events have allowed her to warm up to him; plus, the birth of her own son, Johnny Tyler, helped, too, that way Wade could have a friend to grow up with.
While all the others prepare dinner and attempt to keep Bart, Jai, and Irey’s shenanigans contained, you manage to snag a bit of time to yourself, not quite believing you’d just been offered a job by Jesse Chambers herself.
It’s all just… a little bit insane.
Then the twins came out and you indulged them on the trampoline in the backyard of the West house for a bit. Then you thought too hard about everything and sunk right back into your disbelief again.
Which leads to now.
“Speedsters, I swear,” Tim mutters.
You hear the soft sound of footsteps on the grass but make no move to leave from your place — star-fished on the trampoline, eyes closed. Early May in Keystone City is considerably warmer and tepid than Gotham City. You should shed your hoodie but you don’t want to. Mostly because it isn’t yours, exactly.
It’s Tim’s. The one you wore the night you got stabbed last year. Not the same one; that one was ruined beyond repair and anyway, you weren’t too happy to wear that exact one, either, since you nearly bled out in it. But it’s close enough. The same shade of brilliant azure. Big on Tim and baggy on you.
Of course, why should you want a hoodie when your boyfriend is right here?
The faint noise of the flaps of the netting be brushed aside. Then the trampoline itself moves, dipping with his weight as he comes over to you. You slide a bit, elbow bumping into his knee.
“So,” he starts, closer than before, one hand brushing your cheek as he tucks a few pieces of your hair behind your ear. “What’s this about an existential crisis? In the middle of the day?”
“It’s four in the afternoon.”
“Schematics.”
You grunt but don’t respond.
A soft chuckle. “Is this about Jesse Chambers’ offer? It’s too bad, you know.”
“What’s too bad.”
“Well, Wayne Enterprises was looking forward to offering you a position, too. And so were the Titans. And I can’t speak for this one personally but I’m fairly certain the Justice League was planning on sending an offer, too. You’re in high demand.”
You groan. “Isn’t that too much? I’m—I haven’t even graduated. There are so many other people with so much more experience—”
“Well, how are you supposed to get experience, too?” he asks, laughing softly. “Besides, you’re graduating with honors.”
“Oh, yeah, well, I’m sure it helps to have a boyfriend with an in at WE, who also just so happens to be a member of the Titans, on top of multiple people who are close to me that are also part of the Justice League.”
“And Jesse Chambers? Hers is the most reliable in that sense, then, isn’t it? Because she doesn’t personally know you—”
“But she knows Wally.”
“But their relationship isn’t that great. Sure, she’s good with Jay and Max but… You also have the advantage of having worked there briefly. They wouldn’t call you back if they didn’t like what they saw.”
Which is true. Jesse Chambers is a businesswoman. She wouldn’t do this as some pity play.
Then again, neither would the others.
You finally open your eyes, squinting immediately as the sun beams down at you.
Tim shifts, moving until his head can shield you from it, bringing him into your focus.
He’s smiling warmly at you, affection clear in his gaze; the sunlight does wonders for him, for his dark hair and blue eyes.
“This can’t be happening.”
“It is,” he says. “You’re graduating next week Friday. You and Steph. And no matter where you go and what you do, you’re gonna kick ass, you know that, right?”
You groan. “You’re supposed to say things like that.”
“Maybe,” he concedes. “But when I tell you I had nothing to do with the offer from WE, you have to believe me. You know I haven’t worked with them in a long while. That was all them.”
“Bruce?”
“Maybe Bruce.”
But then that’s ‘cause he feels… guilty about cornering you last year. Which serves him right. Your relationship with Tim’s adoptive father is a bit rocky, truth be told. Just because of the things Tim has told you. The things Steph has told you. And last year is certainly a factor. But all the others, you get along with them.
You don’t see Dick too often because he lives in New York but he’s kind. Jason’s cool when you see him. Cass and Duke are great. You hang out with them regularly on your own. Damian is a bit frigid but that’s just because of your choice in company and not anything personal, exactly, but you do get the advantage of also having Steph on your side, since they have a better relationship than he and Tim do. Alfred is pleasant as always, too; sometimes he sends grocery deliveries to you to make sure you’re sustaining on actual food and not just ramen.
Barbara Gordon is also very nice and volunteered to help you put together your resume and cover letters and applications; Jean-Paul Valley is kind, too. They’re both old family friends, you would learn. You have lunch with Helena Bertinelli once a month; you two bond over a mutual dislike for Batman and a mutual fondness for Tim—begrudging on her part sometimes but she undeniably sees him as a little brother and he sees her a big sister. And truthfully, your relationship with her is a bit similar.
You’ve made quite a few relationships with these vigilantes. Connections. So, you shouldn’t be surprised that all of this is happening. But one part of you, the prideful part, doesn’t like it. The other part, the rational one, says it was unavoidable. You were going to apply to QE and WE, anyway. Maybe toss out a few applications to the League and the Titans, too, just for the heck of it. Not expecting anything to come of it. Out of any of it.
But of course something would. You know too many of these people for nothing to happen.
“But then again,” Tim says a moment later. “Bruce is just attached to the company by name.”
“That is not a ‘just’ thing, Tim, that is a very big thing. They’d do whatever he wanted.”
“Not anything. Not if you didn’t have the grades, background, or potential to back it up.”
Also, technically, true.
“But like I said. Jesse’s is the most earnest in that regard.”
“Do you want me to leave Gotham, is that it.”
He laughs. The sound warms you.
“I don’t,” he chuckles. “I really don’t. I’d love for you to go with WE. But I also know that the news of us dating throws a wrench in that.”
Right. Ever since the gossip columns caught you two kissing on a date a couple months ago, they wouldn’t shut up about it. Only after digging their grubby little fingers into every inch of your past, of course, and using that to fuel the flames. Talking about your relationship with him as if you planned it, just trying to get a leg-up in the application process at WE.
But the thing is, objectively speaking, there isn’t anything wrong with that. You aren’t with Tim strictly for that purpose but you knew it would factor in. It’s undeniable, the way all these other offers are undeniable in who and why they came. You can’t help who you’re connected to.
But yeah. It would suck to prove all the tabloids right by accepting a job with WE right after graduation—like all of them said you would.
Of course, they would talk regardless. Even if you went with QE or the Titans or the Justice League. Wayne Enterprises is a known partner with Quickstart Enterprises, as well as a heavy funder for the League and the Titans. So…
You groan, wiggling closer to him by planting your head on his thigh and staring forlornly up at him. “What should I do?”
He smiles. “Whatever you want to, honey.”
“Yeah, that’s not really helpful, Timmy.”
He rolls his eyes fondly, bending down to scoop you into his arms. You let out a squeak as he pulls you into his lap, then you settle comfortably in the circle of his arms, dropping your head on his shoulder.
From here, you can spy the old bullet graze on the side of his neck, silvery and a little textured. Without a second thought, you lean forward to kiss it.
He shivers slightly, arms tightening around you.
You bite down a smile. “Cold?”
“Shut up,” he mutters, fingers digging into your side, making you giggle and try to squirm away from him.
He doesn’t keep up the torment, exhaling a soft laugh, too, as you lay your head back on his shoulder.
A cool breeze sweeps through the backyard. In the suburbs of Keystone City, it is quiet out here. Peaceful. Though you can still hear the others inside. Wally saying something. Steph laughing at it.
You’ve carved out a nice place for yourself here. The West’s and Garrick’s here in Keystone and the Allen’s over in Central.
You close your eyes, basking in Tim’s embrace and his proximity. You haven’t seen him much this month, with you and Steph in the throes of finals. But he promised to come, that he’d ask Bart to take him and his friend happily agreed.
You were surprised to learn of their relationship. That they had known each other. But they had met when they were younger, along with the rest of the original members of Young Justice. Put together because they were superhero kids. The relationship stuck. What a coincidence, that Bart Allen was part of the family you had quickly grown close to. But not unwelcome.
It is a small world, you would think.
Or maybe, when you feel indulgent, meant to be. You and Wally. You and Steph, you and Tim. All of this. Interconnected in ways you could only dream of. You don’t have to sacrifice much to have them together.
Tim squeezes your hip, one hand slipped underneath the hoodie. “What are you thinking about?”
That maybe this decision isn’t as hard as you thought it would be. That it’s not a matter of deliberation, is it?
You know you don’t want to prove all the tabloids right by going with WE immediately. Not to mention, for the longest time, it was a dream to work with them. You want more time, more experience, before you move there.
And you don’t think you are ready to jump head-first into working for the Justice League or the Titans. You need experience for that, too.
So…
“I’m pretty sure I could convince Wally to take me to Gotham to visit. When I start at Quickstart.”
“Not necessary,” he says and you raise an eyebrow, watching him pull back, his gaze warm, not at all surprised by your words. “I could just come and visit you. Unlimited access to the jet and all.”
“Racking up carbon emissions just for me?”
“You know the jet is clean energy,” he says, pouting a bit.
Yes, you do. He talked your ear off about it when they made the switch. But you just like seeing him get pouty about it.
You cup his cheeks, smiling, particularly taken with the way his whole face softens as he looks at you. The knowledge that he’s this soft for you is always so insane to you. Not at all good for your heart.
“I know. It’s still a bit of an expense, though, isn’t it?”
“It’s worth it.”
“Cornball.”
“I’m being serious,” he presses, hands tightening around your waist. “Whatever I have to do, it’s worth it for you.”
You know that. Tim is a devoted boyfriend. He doesn’t do things in halves. When he’s loyal to someone, when he dedicates himself, he does it wholly. You could ask him of anything and he would do whatever it took to get it for you, to do it for you. If you asked him to move with you, you know he would do it.
You also know the thought must’ve crossed his own mind. But he still won’t say anything, not unless he knows you want it, too, and… you do. You think that can wait, though, for a little while longer. Let you get settled in and then you two can discuss that possibility—if he wants to, of course, because while Wally and Linda do like him now, the former would not like having a Bat running underfoot in the city, in either of the cities.
You just aren’t used to that kind of devotion. Even after this long.
You slide your arms around his neck, threading your fingers in his hair. He leans into the touch. “I know.”
“I’ll take Steph when I can, too,” he adds and you smile again.
“I love you.”
He leans forward, forehead brushing yours. Your eyes flutter shut.
He nudges your nose with his, then finally closes the distance between you two.
Cotton-candy sweet warmth unspools in your chest he kisses you, soft and gentle. But it quickly edges into dangerous territory when you nip at his bottom lip and he yanks you closer and closer until there is no space between your bodies. It would be better if you weren’t wearing this hoodie but you make do with what you have, still able to feel most of his chest pressed to yours, hard and sturdy, heat licking up your spine.
Your fingers twine in his hair and he lets out a shuddery breath, the kiss turning open-mouthed in the next second and you can taste the gum he was chewing on earlier.
It’s a shade too hungry for your current location but you can’t help it, he’s just so… beguiling. You’re overwhelmingly attracted to your boyfriend and you think you always will be.
But of course, you still should know better, even with all that.
A sharp gust of wind hits you two in the next second and you both separate immediately, knowing exactly what—or who—it is. But instead of Wally or any other speedster here, a high-pitched giggle makes it to your ears and you both turn, eyebrows raising as you find one and a half year old Wade West now inside the trampoline, net fluttering behind him.
You and Tim turn to look at the back door, which is now open, Wally and Linda standing there; the former looks pleased, while the latter just raises her eyebrows.
“I thought,” he starts, mischief written on his face, “that instead of leaving space for Jesus, you could leave some space for Wade. So. Do that. And please stop desecrating the place my children play.”
“And come inside,” Linda adds. “Food’s almost ready.”
You slide off Tim’s lap, reaching for Wade before he tries to stand and walk over to you, not trusting his balance on the trampoline. Tiny hands grapple with the hoodie strings, tugging.
“Got it. Thanks.”
They both smile pleasantly and turn back inside.
You bite your lip, which already feels swollen from your kissing, and look at Tim. His face is flushed with red, lips swollen, too. A tempting sight.
He catches the look on your face. “Don’t.”
“It’s my graduation party.”
“It’s yours and Steph’s. Later.”
“You’re no fun.”
“Well, you love me, so what does that say about you?”
“That you’ve seduced me.”
He rolls his eyes. “Oh, I’ve seduced you, okay, sure—” he looks at Wade, shaking his head “—can you believe this?”
All Wade can do is giggle in response. All you can do is smile at him, so painfully in love.
He smiles back, rising up on his knees and leaning forward to kiss your forehead.
“I love you, too, you know.”
Yeah, you do know.
Tumblr media
four years later
“Goddamit, where is it?”
Fish, a miniature Italian Greyhound you rescued from the shelter, offers no answer or help for your plight. Instead, she just sits near you, happy to follow you around as you search, watching you with big eyes. Big, empty eyes. Absolutely nothing goes on in her little head and you and Tim love her very much for it but damn if you wouldn’t appreciate a little help in finding the security badge that seems to have mysteriously disappeared.
It’s perfect timing, too. That badge is your lifeline. That’s what your supervisor, Meena, said anyway, a couple days ago when you went in for it and had a chance to speak with her before starting work. You can’t get into the tower without it. You can’t do anything without it and guest badges do not have the same amount of clearance that you have.
You stop in the living room, taking a breath, frustration starting to make you hot, which would be the icing on the cake, if you managed to sweat through your clothes before you even started work.
Sighing, you look at her. “Do you know where it is?”
A sound behind you.
“You should know better than that, honey,” comes the sleepy voice of your boyfriend, and you turn. “Fish is lucky to have a single coherent thought once a week and she wasted that one yesterday when she managed to give Damian the high five he asked for.”
You chuckle despite yourself, remembering the pleased gleam that had come into Damian’s hazel green eyes when Fish successfully completed the trick. Only after six months of painstaking work, of course, but it hardly deters him. Titus passed away not too long ago and he’s fixated on Fish because of it. Even if he says her name is ‘completely idiotic.’
Brushing away those thoughts, you focus on Tim, still sleepy-eyed and rumpled. Then you see it—in his hand is your security badge, your picture smiling up at you, with your name beneath it.
“Oh my god, where—”
“You gave it to me, remember?” he asks, laughing softly as you pad over to him. “And said to keep it with my gear, that way it wouldn’t get lost between then and now.”
True. All true. After all, that gear—that is, his suit and tech—doesn’t get brought out other than for the occasional mission with the Titans, so, say, every six months or so. Other than that, it remains hidden in a panel behind your side in the walk-in closet, accessible only by him and you through fingerprint and retinal scans.
Easiest way not to get lost, especially since you’ve been particularly harried in the lead-up to the official start of your job at Wayne Enterprises as their spokesperson.
“Sorry,” you sigh. “Is that why you’re up? Because I told you, you don’t need to wake up for this, you can stay in bed…”
He raises an eyebrow. “And let you freak out for the next hour and a half before you have to leave?”
“Um. Yes?”
A soft smile. He reaches for you, hands settling on your arms, rubbing small circles there.
“Well, you’re wrong. It’s your first day at WE.”
“I know, but you didn’t have to get up now at least…”
The original idea when you decided to wake up at five-fifteen is that one, it would give you ample time to get ready—both yourself and your belongings—and two, it would let you try to relax.
Key word being try.
It’s now six, you’re supposed to leave in an hour and fifteen minutes to beat the morning rush traffic, and your nerves are none the better for it.
Your sleep was fitful, too, in anticipation of today, so you’re starting to feel sleepiness creep in at the edges; the fact that the sun has not yet risen and won’t rise for a while—cursed winter months and their late sunrises—does not help.
He eyes you. “I think I do.”
You groan, dropping your forehead on his shoulder. “I can’t do this.”
He squeezes your arms. “Yes, you can.”
“No, I can’t. They’re going to eat me alive.”
If not for being the new girl, then certainly because your boyfriend was, actually, once major shareholder of the company when he was seventeen and no, it doesn’t matter that he was just a figurehead and Lucius was actually pulling the strings—it still happened and Tim worked closely with the company for several years after. And then, of course, it will also be because your boyfriend is the adoptive son of the man who owns the actual company.
Even if you waited before joining, even if you actually applied for the position! Yes, applied! Contrary to what a few tabloids are saying right now, you did not go up to Tim (or Bruce, depending on which gossip column you’re reading) and demand the job. You went through the same channels as absolutely anyone else would.
Tim ducks his head to press a kiss to your neck. You can’t help your shiver and you know he feels it by the way he smiles against your skin. “No, they won’t. That’s my job. They can’t take that away from me.”
“Now is so not the time—”
He laughs, pulling away; you do the same to look at him.
“You’re going to be fine, gorgeous. You had Linda and Iris regularly pressing you these last few weeks and you did very well with them. Not to mention your last two jobs…”
You purse your lips.
“Two years with Quickstart Enterprises,” he lists. “Two more with the Justice League. Still bitter you picked them over the Titans, by the way.”
“They were more hardcore. Sorry.”
“Well, see? You and the rest of the team had to salvage the League’s image after each alien invasion or otherwise massive destruction committed during a mission and you guys did it. I mean, the publicity campaign you came up with was brilliant, you know that, right? Support was the highest it’s ever been while you were there.”
Right… In an effort to better the League’s image with the public after a particularly nasty fight that left multiple city blocks destroyed and more questions about the relevancy of the team, you decided the more prominent League members needed to create more solid images for themselves, that way each time the public or news saw them, it wasn’t always about the latest incident that brought their presence in. To do this, they needed to pick something to sponsor or support and start showing for it. Superman took an interest in accessibility to education, Wonder Woman focused on preserving wildlife and ecosystems, along with world landmarks, and Batman—with immense detail and planning to abide by his stiff rule not to be seen before the masses—focused on rehabilitation programs.
It brought in a lot of good coverage as more Leaguers agreed to do it and it did help. Helped a lot. Not to say those in the League were not helping, of course, either suited up in their own cities or with their public personas, but that was the issue. The League was capable of much more destruction collectively than individually and the public didn’t know that Batman was funding hundreds of programs to help impoverished communities in Gotham, mostly because he did that as Bruce Wayne and that connection would never be made known.
But that was the job. And you did it. Excellently. You would’ve stayed on for a little while longer but then you got kidnapped towards the end and that just wasn’t fun.
(Fortunately, however, there was a clause in your signing contract that states that in the event of a kidnapping, the League is obligated to rescue you.
Fair is fair, you think, for helping maintain their image and ensure that the UN doesn’t pull the plug and that the public doesn’t completely despise them.)
And of course, if you managed to survive working with the League and being kidnapped because of that work, then you should be entirely prepared to take on Wayne Enterprises. It should be chump change, if anything, but again, you go in with preconceived notions about yourself and your reputation. Not so great.
But would you back out?
No way.
“I believe in you,” he murmurs, his gaze warm and reassuring. “All of us do. You know Steph does.”
A pause, everything falling silent, save for the snores coming from the guest bedroom, where Steph is asleep.
“I’m not missing your first day at WE,” she had said the night before. “So, you better wake me up before you leave.”
He grins a bit teasingly at a particularly loud snore. “Like a train, right?”
“Like you’re any better.”
“I am not that loud.”
“What is it with me and attracting people who snore?”
Honestly.
“Speaking of, you know Wally and Linda believe in you. You can do this. It’s just ‘cause it’s the first day. Get through it and everything will be better.”
Which is true. You know that. Have been repeating that in your head as today approached and your nerves grew in intensity.
But everything is easier in theory than in practice.
“I know,” you whisper, closing your eyes. “I know.”
You can hear the smile in his voice when he speaks next. “That’s why I’m here. Why we’re all here.”
“To knock some sense into me?”
“To do that gently,” he chuckles.
“I don’t know. I might need the force.”
“Well, I can call Damian if you want.”
“I don’t need that much force… on a scale, maybe something like Linda.”
“It’s good thing she and Wally are going to be here soon for breakfast, then.”
For the same reason Steph spent the night and Tim dragged himself out of bed—for your first day of work.
For you.
You pull him into a hug, overwhelmed at the thought and not at all caring about wrinkling your clothes. You can fix that. But this… this needs to be made known.
“I love you.”
He squeezes you—gently, trying to mitigate any wrinkles, and the thought makes your heart swell with unbridled love—and kisses your temple.
“I love you. We all do.”
And isn’t that something?

I went down a Goat Hole.
So I love the Gävle goat wikipedia, which records the years when it survived vs the years when it was burned.
Tumblr media
It starts off so normal. Did it survive, or was it burned?
And then it just....like an A24 movie, gets weirder and weirder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like that they include security measures.
Also, I feel bad for 1971, when the Southern Merchants got tired of their goat being burnt ;-; and stopped making them.
Then the Natural Science Club built one and it got smashed to pieces :((((
Tumblr media
Then I feel soooo bad for 1992, when BOTH goats from the Natural Science Club and the Southern Merchants burned on the same night???
But then The Goat Committee was founded, like the Avengers, protectors of the goat. So silver linings.
Sadly, though, they made a new one, and it still burned.
Tumblr media
So now I'm losing my mind, because the poor goat got thrown in the river in 2000, and its sibling got burnt too.
But I am also laughing hysterically at the idea of someone dressed as Santa and the gingerbread man shooting a flaming fucking arrow at the goat.
Like what the FUCK.
But also.
Dying. That's arson with style, baby.
But then it REALLY gets weird.
And I know that sounds impossible, but listen.
Tumblr media
So people are getting WAY too goddamn coordinated on the burning of these goats.
And so.
We continue on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so now, you know the many stories.
Now, you may decide if it will burn this year or not, and whether you want it to.
Or not.
But isn't wikipedia fun?
I feel so bad for these goats, and for the two organizations that keep making them.
But the chaotic neutral in me does enjoy the testament to the indomitable human spirit showed by both parties.
they keep making the goat. the goat burns. sometimes, it does not.
life always moves in circles, never quite beginning or ending.
sometimes the goat lives, sometimes it dies, but there is always a goat. there must always be a goat.

A Night of Song and Laughter (Part 7)
In which Tav really only wants to drown her sorrow in alcohol. And Astarion is basically being a very good boyfriend and also makes use of what he calls "handsome face and nice smile tax". (Basically imagine the Tiktok sound "what do I owe you? / don't worry it's on the house / reeeeaaally?" - anyone know what I mean?) Also Tav, Astarion, Daegin and Lira raise a toast!
Fun fact about this story: when I started writing this I thought it was gonna be a fun, quick three-part adventure. Now we are already nine parts deep that I've written and I am still not done... I was so naive... I will do a post tomorrow to make a chapter list of this, also... would you people like to be tagged? Tips on how to organise that in an efficient way? And always: thank you, thank you, thank you for all the love and support!
Song for this one: Drinks by Cyn (because Tav needs it)
And if you'd like: keep reading on on AO3!
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Astarion/Fem!Tav (You)
Tumblr media
(Gif from here!)
“Before you undress me, Astarion dearest, remember there is a snoring dwarf between us”, you proclaimed dryly as the vampire spawn made to lean over the table and stretched out his hand to caress your cheek. Also, a voice inside you wondered how smart it had been for Astarion to reveal his real being to these two arseholes.
“If he wasn’t conscious for the whole fight and me threatening your ex with writing my name with his blood on the wall, I think he’d neither notice nor object”, Astarion replied with a lopsided smile, but you could see the primal hunger in his eyes had subsided – for now. A look of worry now filled his eyes.
Lira chose this moment to return to the table, her arms full with everyome’s drinks. She stood on her tiptoes to lift everything on the table while trying not to spill everything. Then she huffed at Astarion and poked a finger into his chest: “I’ll have you know it is not very nice to leave me not only to carry everything but also to skip out of the tab. I barely had enough gold on me to pay for everything.” Lira looked angrily at Astarion and he had the good grace to look ashamed. “I’m sorry, Lira dear, but I had to check on Tav real quick. I’m hopeful you’ll understand and forgive me for my insolence.” He bowed gracefully before your friend which made her giggle and blush. “Apology accepted”, she beamed and went to look around the pretty empty table “Uhm, did you being worried about Tav have anything to do with Miyena and Eodin disappearing or…?” She let the sentence go on open-ended.
Her eyes were on Astarion, his eyes were on you, yours were on the two now ownerless shots of strong spirit that Lira had just brought to the table. You sighed deeply, then downed the first – Lira blinked surprisedly – then the second – her mouth opened helplessly – then started to have a go at your glass of red wine – and now even Astarion raised his eyebrows at you.
The vampire swiftly and silently moved over to you, putting a hand between your shoulderblades as you let your head slump on the table with a loud thud. All the rage you had felt like two minutes ago had suddenly vanished and had only left exhaustion in its place. The jolt of your head hitting the table made the glasses and goblets on the table jump and prompted Daegin to wake from his peaceful slumber. He found his mug in front of him, happily took a deep swallow but stopped abruptly when he noticed there was only water in it. Only when he had made a disgusted noise did he notice the changed lineup around the table and the sudden depressed mood.
“I guess, I fucked up”, you mumbled. Astarion drew calming circles between your shoulders but remained silent. Daegin, who seemed much more sober now than a few minutes ago, coughed and cleared his throat: “Could you repeat that? I don’t have elven hearing.”
“I fucked up”, you said louder, raising your head again and making a grimace. Then you borrowed your face in your hands again. “Why, because you two drove Miyena and Eodin off?”, the dwarf answered. You lifted your hands out of your hands a fraction to look at your friend. His sudden somber tone startled you. “Gotta be honest, wish I’d had the balls to do that quite some time ago”, he said and reached over the table to give your hands a quick squeeze. You watched him quizzically. That wasn’t exactly the reaction you had expected.
Astarion kept his hand reassuringly on your back, it slowly wandered up your spine. “I’m glad I could be of service then”, he chuckled softly and toasted to the dwarf before taking a long swig from his goblet of wine. You mimicked him, still not entirely relieved and still feeling empty from the unpleasant exchange. You almost drained your glass completely – right now you could’ve really enjoyed a nice buzz to forget this shipwreck off an evening; this alcohol better got to work soon. But getting yourself drunk wasn’t an easy task as an elf.
“Why though? What in the hells happened while I was away? I thought we were all thick as thieves – hah!”, you giggled at your own terrible joke than drank the rest of your wine. When you put down the now empty glass you tried to reach for Astarion’s cup that still contained a lot of his drink. But he caught you immediately and smoothly moved it out of your reach. You clicked your tongue at him – damned rogue.
Then Lira spoke: “Well, we don’t really know as well. It just seems – you were really the one who glued us all together. Quickly after you’d disappeared Miyena and Eodin seemed to have become closer. And, well, I know it sounds mean when I say it like that…” She started fidgeting. Astarion’s hand had reached your neck and softly started to knead the tense spots there. You melted into his cool touch.
Lira seemed to struggle to find the right words. “I don’t think you need to worry about being nice when it comes to these two”, Astarion chimed in “I’ve known them for the better part of one single evening and was already prepared to take out all their innards -  I assure you, not a common sentiment for me when meeting new people. And after how they treated Tav…”, his words slowed for a moment. Both Daegin and Lira looked shocked at first at the vampire’s open desire for violence but quickly turned to asking facial expressions after Astarion’s mention of their behaviour towards you. You swatted their questioning glances away with your hand since you didn’t want to go into that again. “Well”, Astarion said and the following words contained a faint hiss in his tone: “They both deserve whatever words you can find for them.”
With Astarion’s encouragement Lira seemingly decided that he was right: “Well, Eodin is such a…”, she struggled for a moment, obviously still not feeling comfortable with trying to not be nice “gullible idiot!” „Not the words, I’d have chosen, but alright“, you heard Astarion whisper under his breath while the half-elf broke into a rant so intense her braid of black hair started trembling. You chuckled at your partners silent remark and finally lifted your head up from your hands and leaned into him. You moved one arm behind his waist and slowly put your head on his shoulder to give him the time and space to decide if he felt comfortable with this soft display of affection. But when he felt you putting your arm around him he immediately pulled you in and pressed a small kiss on the crown of your head. His closeness felt so good you’d almost already forgotten how awry this evening had seemed to go only some minutes ago.
Meanwhile, Lira was still at it with some remarks from Daegin. Explaining how the tiefling seemingly had influenced Eodin (“this, dare I say… arsehole”, she whispered at one point to which Astarion proudly toasted her in a “hear, hear”-fashion) to take their thief business down other roads.
Of course, they always had been thieves, but Miyena’s vision had been bigger, more dangerous and would have definitely crossed a line. You had always chosen clients and contracts with the utmost care: checking background information, trying not to harm innocent people and deciding democratically. But the tiefling had wanted to take on contracts that could have harmed the hierarchy of powers in the city, hurting those that already almost had nothing. And Eodin had listened, seemingly hurt by your disappearance and he’d eaten up the ideas and the manipulation by Miyena. It had tainted him and had also tainted his image of you. Also, Lira and Daegin had talked for quite some time about getting out of the business altogether, to go why they still could and cut it with a profit.
“To conclude”, Daegin said, when the half-elf had reached a point in her rant that she was completely red in the face and could barely speak “Miyena is a goddamn snake and a bitch and Eodin is an…” At this point Astarion lifted a hand – the one that was not currently holding you - and proposed with a smirk: “Wait, before you finish, Daegin, this sounds like an excellent point to toast, don’t you think?” The dwarf had looked taken aback by the elf’s interruption but seemed to have been reconciled with the promise of more alcohol. Lira looked like she had calmed herself down a bit and nodded in approval. Astarion looked down to you softly: “Will you let go of me, my love, just for a moment? I know it’s an awful lot to ask…” You playfully pout at him but untangle yourself from him slowly. “You want me to help you carry stuff?”, you ask him. But the pale elf just winked and swiftly and disappears in the still growing crowd.
How was there even more space in here? And why the hell were there even so many people coming? Maybe it was a special band that made an appearance tonight? You stood on your tiptoes to try and throw a look downstairs. You could see the stage was currently empty except for two halflings seemingly preparing it for the next act. In hindsight you wondered how long there had been no music and only the busy bustling of the crowd in the background. But it wasn’t really a surprise you didn’t really pay attention to the stuff happening around you tonight, was it?
“Gods, you two are so cute”, said Daegin and pulled back your attention “it’s making my damn teeth hurt.” Then he spit out and stuck out his tongue theatrically as if there had been something bile in his mouth. “They are, aren’t they?”, the half-elf agreed in earnest, oblivious to Daegin’s act. She moved over to you and hugged you: “I’m so happy you two found each other, you seem perfect for each other.” You hugged her back hard: “Sorry, I caused such a mess for you.” “Don’t worry about it, Tav, I was always sure that this thieving was hopefully only a temporary business. I mean I am a bit scared because I don’t know what to do yet, but I’m happy to make a clean cut now”, Lira replied, Daegin nodded in agreement.
“Whatever happens, you and your pale boyfriend must come and hang out with us again though. He’s funny and good to drink with”, the dwarf grinned at you. “Oh, and what about my company?”, you answered quickly and raising your eyebrows at him. “I can bare with that, as long as Astarion’s coming”, Daegin answered with playful banter and motioned with his head towards where Astarion was only just returning.
“Did I hear my name? Fret not, I have returned, my friends!” He put a big bottle of liquor on the table, pushed a mug of water towards you with a teasing look of worry in his eyes – you flipped him off. And then Astarion artfully threw four shotglasses from around his back one by one and set them down in front of everyone around the table. Lira cheered and clapped at his display of sleight of hand. Astarion bowed gracefully then went to uncork the bottle of spirit.
“How did you get the whole bottle? Far as I knew they save these for special occasions and special customers only. Whose pants did you charm off for this? Did you strip naked for the bar maid, or something?”, Daegin asked him suspiciously and eyed Astarion up and down. His clothes looked just as well in place as they were a few minutes ago, though.
“Not this time”, Astarion replied while filling everyone’s glasses. “I just asked about the bottle in the back and well, the rest I call the ‘handsome face and nice smile tax’. I even got it for free”, he explained with a smug grin. “You flirted with the bar maid to get us liquor? You are unbelievable, Astarion”, you exclaimed and pressed two fingers to the root of your nose, closing your eyes and sighing deeply. Could this man really be left to roam this city freely?
“Surely never happened to me, don’t have the face for that”, Daegin mumbled and grabbed his shot. “Well, love, flirted is a strong word. As far as I’m concerned, it was only about getting something to drink – at least for me – and it wasn’t even that goo…” You boxed him into his shoulder with full force when you realized he was mimicking your earlier words about Eodin. This fucking dickhead! But Astarion simply threw his head back in laughter. You punched him again, but he kept laughing and grabbed your face with both hands and kissed you, immediately erasing the anger you felt. Then he broke the kiss and looked at you with an intensity in his eyes, that made you breathless, his eyes jumping back and forth between yours. “I love you”, he whispered to you. “Hear, hear”, Daegin dramatically proclaimed to that and made to throw back his drink. “Ah ah ah”, Astarion interrupted him “I appreciate that, but I thought we wanted to toast to something else?” “Yes, yes, you’re right.” Daegin lifted his glass: “Let’s drink to snakes and assholes we got rid off!” Then he looked to Lira to add to the toast. “And to old friends that reappeared and new ones that were made!”, she added cheerfully and lifted her drink to Daegin’s. “To leaving the way of thieves behind and finding new paths in life”, you happily joined in and looked to Astarion to finish the toast. “And to the wonderful people we’ll walk them with”, he said smiling at you in a way that made you forget you weren’t alone in the room. You went to down the drink but saw the glint in Astarion’s eyes. “And to charming the pants off people to get whatever we desire”, Astarion added smugly and threw his drink back. Lira and Daegin both choked, but you simply drank, pressed your forehead against Astarion’s and broke into joyful laughter. The vampire just kept looking at you, his heart full to the rim with love for you.

Okay okay okay first thoughts on the Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie, with my best effort to avoid spoilers this time.
I had a blast watching it. I loved seeing the practical costumes and makeup for the creatures and I loved seeing the different ways spells were interpreted. And I did tear up a few times! Nearly full cried, but definitely got emotional on several points which is almost always a good sign for me.
I did not expect how the story played out the way it did. It was marketed definitely as a GOTG-style movie but Fantasy(tm) which both is and isn't what we got.
The whole thing felt like a campaign, or maybe the first arc of a campaign, but squeezed into a 2 hour and 15 minute movie. That being, it felt like a fast pace mostly because they sped-run the traveling bits with some gorgeous montage shots. Mostly fine by me, but at some points, it definitely felt like the scale of the world and time was off. It's by no means unique to this movie, and definitely not unique to the movies this film is emulating in spirit.
It's got somewhat of an Indiana Jones/Goonies/The Mummy/even OG trilogy Star Wars vibe in that certain logics are hand waved in order to get to the good stuff (tm), but it isn't unforgivable nor a detriment to the enjoyment of the film.
The characters are all very enjoyable, each in their own ways. I wish we spent just a bit more time on each of them, but there's the rub with ensemble films. And truth be told, to no one's surprise, Chris Pine's character Edgin gets the most prominent focus. I was surprised, however, at the focus Hugh Grant's character Forge had, especially compared to Rege Jean Page's Xenk.
Forge is a very charismatic antagonist, who has a lot more to do in the story than I anticipated, and definitely is a delight to watch onscreen. Hugh Grant dips a bit hammy into his performance but it's in a fun way that reminds of a Saturday morning cartoon. Smarmy, not entirely serious, but occasionally shows a hint of the person beneath, good and bad.
I found myself a little disappointed that Xenk got a really interesting focus, with an emotional and engaging background, and then seemed to not get a satisfying conclusion to that focus. He felt like a guest player character, rather than a full time player character, like the others in the group. While it does still tie up in a self-contained story, I'm hoping this movie does well enough to maybe explore into his journeys beyond this one. They did say that he is the Archetypal Hero that doesn't really fit with the rest of the group, so I suppose that was their way of saying he isn't permanent, which is fair. And while watching I definitely felt it, and wondered how he would be past his point and if he would have dragged the story in a different direction than it needed. (Or maybe if he was too much of a higher level than they were to justify keeping him around.) But that still didn't keep me from wanting to see more of his character later down the line.
Justice Smith's Simon has a nice self-esteem arc, and I enjoyed watching his growth through the movie. He also has an interesting backstory that sort of gets played with, but has plenty more room to grow, and I also want to see more of him and his character.
Sophia Lillis' Doric is a lot of fun and strikes me as a Circle of the Moon druid. She gets a small, engaging focus of her own, but in keeping with the pacing and the ensemble directed at Edgin, I find myself wanting more of her as well.
Doric and Simon are paired up, sort of, and I'm not entirely sure if it works since they don't get too much time, but such is the curse of a fast-paced ensemble film. Hell, Casino Royale was barely an ensemble film, if you count the sidekicks and villains, and Bond got a life-and-sequel-movie-altering romance that was built through the whole thing and I didn't feel like the relationship had enough there by the time she was killed at the end of it, so mileage may vary I suppose.
Michelle Rodriguez's character Holga was also a delight to watch. She's not the lowest of Intelligence but she for sure rolled a nat20 on heart. (Yes I'm keeping that.) It may be since I've been watching a lot of the Mighty Nein campaign, but she reminds me a lot of Yasha. And given that this movie was filmed during the pandemic, and the people behind it are huge nerds themselves, it may be very likely they were in part inspired by Yasha when writing Holga. Who could say?
But Holga holds up the party with Chris' Edgin, and they have a great dynamic with each other. Edgin is the bard, and while he doesn't have his own colorful Bigby's Hand, he certainly and deftly weaves the story as his class is wont to do. And I worry for his lute because he swings it around like it's a sword sometimes and every time I think it's going to break.
The writing is fairly tight, fast pacing aside, and there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and heartfelt moments. I want to see deleted scenes for this movie because I just want more of this story and these characters. And I feel like some things may have been trimmed that might have bloated a scene or two, but also would have been good to see. Hard to say at this point, but that's the vibe I get.
Overall, this movie is so much fun and worth going to see in theaters, more than once if you can. There is so much love in this story and it is absolutely felt when watching. You can definitely have fun with it if you have no experience with Dungeons and Dragons, if you're only familiar with separate properties like Critical Role or Dimension 20 and not so much the Classic Stuff(tm), or if you're a hardcore fan. There's good content in here for everyone, and it's treated well, and it treats its audience well.
If I were to give it a score as a movie, I would err on the side of 8.5/10. It's far from perfect, but it's a hell of a lot of fun and really well put together. Seeing it with friends/family in an engaged theater I would bump it up to a 9 or a 9.5.
I will be seeing it again, so I am going to reserve any Spoiler/Context-Specific Thoughts for after that time comes, and I will be interested to see how my experience with the movie changes depending on the theater and who I see it with, as I went alone this first time. But I'm very glad I saw it and look forward to seeing it again, and I hope they do get more opportunities to tell more stories in this world and other of the D&D worlds.
Both this cast, and John Francis Daley and Johnathan Goldstein as writer/directors, and all the people who worked on this movie, hit one out of the park and I would be very excited to see what more they could bring.

WILLOWWHITE FAM (LONGSTAR AU)
Tumblr media
I have indeed changed a few things around! let’s go through them one by one, shall we?
graystripe: gray, instead of becoming a basically self absorbed asshole, he stays the goofy loving sweet boy that he was in the first book! i think gray/fire/sand is totally poly, like fire/gray is good, sand/fire is good.. but mix them together and you get a little loving circle that will protect each other til they die. in this au they all become a little poly couple, and fire/sand has squirrelkit and leafkit. and I think that featherkit and stormkit are sand/grays kits. they raise them all together in ThunderClan, and when feather/storm is older they do actually feel better being in RiverClan so they do join RiverClan and be the RiverClan new prophecy cats.
willowpelt: I’m making willows mate for the ENTIRE series Whitestorm, instead of it just being said in forest of secrets. so he is the father of gray, dark as well as sorrel, rain, and soot. dark was litter 1 (his other sibling dying before becoming an app), gray was litter two which was a litter of 1, and sorrel/rain/soot are litter 3. instead of willow dying in between books to protect sootpaw sootpaw still actually died and willow becomes elder grandma.
whitestorm: white is a loving, loyal boy and just seriously loves his kiddos. when dark leaves thunder to go to shadow, he ends up meeting with him in secret. white had always been really close with dark, never supported him hanging with tiger because he knew what the warrior was really like, growing up with him (and thistleclaw being his dad, and tigers mentor he especially didn’t trust him). white tries to convince dark but he wouldn’t listen. eventually, when dark comes back bloodied and battered (his ear practically torn to bits) he comes to his senses. of course no one trusts him right away, but white was always there for him. eventually they do trust him and they go back to being a happy family.
darkears(stripe): I changed his name cuz idk darkstripe.. graystripe.. I know they're siblings but I don’t like how similar it sounds. so I gave him dark ears cuz he was born with a floppy ear and that he was always super attentive. dark was the first litter, being the elder brother to all the other kits. his mentor stays the same, being tigerclaw which is why he’s so close to him. (also he has a crush on him for a while before actually becoming mates later. dark is gay in this cuz.. that’s how I see him idk) super duper loyal to tiger even before the pair became mates. and tiger was not a good mate. at all. dark really did love him, he did. but tiger didn’t. he would ridicule him constantly, even going as far to hit/scratch him leaving him with some of the scars he has today. dark does still follow him to shadow cuz he’s practically forced too, and refuses to come back for a while even at whites calls. but eventually he comes to his senses and comes home and gains the clans trust again and becomes a good big brother to his siblings, as well as gaining a mate in a tom named Blacksight (whom I’ve added as a rouge who joined the clan I’ll explain him later) and they are much much better together. If you couldn’t tell I happen to really like the dark I’ve created lol.
sorrelspirit(tail): idk I changed her name cuz I always found it boring, especially considering her bright personality and determination! she suffered an injury and waited moons to actually get her warrior ceremony, and was still as happy as ever. so sorrelspirit it is. she had a rough childhood (im taking out the poisoning.. we don’t need that here. In this AU, it seriously ain’t Important) especially growing up when bloodclan had come into the forest, her father dying before she was even an apprentice. it wasn’t fun. but she kept her spirits up, she couldn’t be so down all the time like other cats she knew. after her injury, she earned her name. she'd never been attracted to any of the tom’s in the clan, settling on the label of lesbian for herself. she never gets a mate, though not finding a connection with anybody—as for the kits, I think that the three of them were found just outside tc territory. i would say that they are rouge kits that were abandoned, and not wanting to leave them, she takes them and claims them as their own. ferncloud nurses them for as long as they need, and they see fern/sorrel as their moms. eventually, sorrel gets a mate in a rc she-cat!
rainwhisker: rain gets a personality. he’s very protective of his siblings, and instead of sorrel being mates with bracken, he is! they are very happy little gay beings together. anyway, rain is kinda sassy and snappy with others- even with firestar and longtail lmao. there’s not really much to say on him.. he’s still a background character, but just know he and bracken r very happy being gay together.
sootpaw(fur): in this au.. soot dies. instead of willow saving him from the badger, she doesn’t get there in time, and he is killed in the process. his siblings and and mother go into a depression for at least three moons, but eventually move past it and know he’s resting softly in starclan.
that’s it for the willowwhite fam! next up is frostlion fam, one of my favs hehehe

A study on prosecutors -- (previous) (next)
Simon Blackquill, the Twisted Samurai.
Simon was actually a bit of a hard sell for me, much like his contemporary. I'm not really into Dual Destinies or Spirit of Justice (and therefore I'm not able to remember all the details as well as I can the other games oop so sorry if I get some things wrong here), but there are things I enjoy about them. One of those things ended up being the prosecutors!
It's thematically appropriate with the whole "dark age of the law" setup. A prosecutor who's on death row is allowed to take on trials to help with the workload the prosecution's office is dealing with. (Don't mind the fact that there's enough wiggle room for Klavier to go out for an event.) We hear from Fulbright about this prosecutor and Athena seems to recognise him. The absurd of why are they letting an inmate have any legal sway whatsoever doesn't matter so much. This is the dark age of the law.
Then we meet him and he's appropriately a grumpy jerk.
We're not given the details of his crime really, just whatever we can glean from the animated cutscenes. (It involved blood and a sword.) But Blackquill's mannerisms are harsh and unforgiving. He's a psychological suggester, able to run circles around the judge and drag us along for the ride by the ear. I think this part of his schtick is kind of annoying to deal with, mainly because of how obvious it is that he's messing with all of us, but it definitely does make for a fun character. He really showcases how easy it is to become intimidating in this world of dumbasses when you're able to keep even a single braincell advantage. (The less forgivable act, to me, was his shutting Apollo down at every turn. He is so mean to Apollo! It's not like Apollo can help that his eyes are magically tuned to other people's body language, and yet Blackquill calls it cheating and cuts him down for it. Then he allows Athena to do her mood matrix things with very little argument! This was a huge jarring point for me for a long time and part of the reason why it took me so long to actually finish this game.)
The setup is there: something about this guy is performative, is softer when handling Athena. Yet he masks it all very well with his abrasive attitude and trickery. He forces us into a corner, forces the hand of our client, and we have to head back out into the investigation.
It's easy to explain away most of his attitude, in actuality. He's been in prison for seven years. He mentions constantly the different mates he's met in the clink. Fulbright may act like his only friend and supporter, but there's too large a gap between them considering Fulbright holds too much authority over him.
Blackquill has become unsociable from his time in the clink. His refusal to admit to the truth has him leaning into his belligerence, has him constantly acting the part of the bad guy. (When did it start to become a part of who he is? Perhaps he's always been a little twisted. It never rings false to anyone besides Athena, after all.)
His situation is intriguing and so we're hooked into wanting to know what the hell happened to make him like this.
Also, I gotta give a special mention to his talking sprites. All of them are really good, from him slamming the desk as he laughs (which is just how I see him in my head by this point) to his eye flashing as he glares down at you. He plays with a lot of the usual conventions, too, turning his back towards you and never actually having a full point. I may not like how his objection sounds (and this is a me problem, I only like about 20% of the actual objections in this series whoops), but his "Silence!" is pitch perfect. That really conveys more of his character than anything else, devs and his va did a damn good job with that one.
Anyway, second day of the trial. It's actually pretty fun to see Blackquill on the ropes, having him act as if we're the ones cutting him down instead of the other way around. He's just as annoyingly ruthless here, but it's easier to deal with when we can actually gain some ground on him. For all his posturing and intimidation tactics, he can't keep up the act while we're shutting him down.
Once we pull off our victory for our client, he's back to being a cool customer. He's a pretty graceful loser compared to so many other prosecutors we've seen. Compared to Gaspen, even. There's still a lot we don't really know about him and his situation, but he's made his character loud and clear for us to see. For that, I gotta say it's understandable if you started liking him by this point.
Case 3 is kind of a mess during the trial segments due to everyone trying to confess to the murder. Blackquill may be facilitating a bunch of this nonsense, but he's as along for the ride as we are. That makes things more fun and tolerable than it could have been, so hey.
It also showcases his softer approach with Athena; again, the hints are being put down. You can't quite pick them up yet because you don't have the full context, but you can notice Athena mention that she's fighting so hard in order to save someone not our client. (And Blackquill even addressed her as directly about it as he can, saying that she should know it's useless trying to reach him.) When Means puts Athena out of commission for a minute, Blackquill doesn't mock her or even take advantage of the situation. He doesn't help, either, he can't do that without giving away the whole game, but he allows her the time to come back. That's probably the biggest hint we get as to who these two are to each other and it's a subtle thing, too.
His dynamic with Athena is probably the most enjoyable, also. She's a real spitfire in court, owing to her youth and her energetic nature, while he's a steel wall with trickster energy. They work surprisingly well off one another, trading jabs and him always seeming to be a step ahead but never fully leaving her in the dust. He recognises her inexperience and she recognises his humanity; neither want to hold back against the other and yet their blows aren't as harsh as they could be.
He was, after all, made to be her opponent on some level. Seeing their dynamic work so well off one another, it's easy to stop finding him aggravating and start finding him endearing. A rough around the edges older brother type rather than a hardened criminal trickster type. (Though he is very much still both.)
An aside on the DLC case, I think it's very funny how Blackquill was the only prosecutor willing to try this case against an orca. Sure, he saw the underlying actual murder mystery beneath it all, but it's so easy to imagine him being presented this case, laughing his ass off, then agreeing to prosecute it. This man's as insane as Phoenix!! And that goes a hell of a long way to endearing him to us. To me, specifically. His mannerism against Phoenix is kinda not fun, considering Phoenix is hardly ever fun in this game, but it's such a wacky little character detail about him that I just adore. His devil may care attitude may come from a dark place, but it lends itself to such a fun time.
Of course, we then reach the fourth case and even more mysteries are thrown in our face.
For one, Blackquill is just as on edge and vicious concerning this case. We understand some of Apollo's beef, he knew the victim and is emotionally invested in his client, but Blackquill being just as invested is definitely strange. It definitely raises some alarm bells to keep in mind, right up until the courtroom is blown up and we're forced into a time skip.
Meeting Blackquill's older sister adds another piece to the puzzle. She's really nasty especially to Athena and you make a note of it, but still can't quite make out the whole picture. It's an easy detail to overlook, even, if you aren't really paying attention to the names, since there isn't a big fuss made over her being his older sister. It connects him to this space station, but not in a way that matters. Not yet.
Another piece is Fulbright's odd behaviour. They really have to work hard to start building enough clues for Fulbright's turn to make sense, but the important thing for us concerning Blackquill is that he seems more worried about Blackquill's rehabilitation than before. Fulbright himself is struggling in what he should reveal to us, where his sense of justice lies, and Phoenix presses him to share enough with us for the next day of the trial.
Of course, Blackquill continues the trial with his added fervour. It really feels he has more of the pieces to this puzzle than we do at this point, but we at least manage to hold our own until Fulbright returns with the decisive evidence to prove Starbuck's innocence. The problem then is that it implicates Athena.
And Blackquill goes into absolute panic mode.
This is what he's been trying to prevent! He can't have Athena accused of another crime, he can't defend her this time like how he did before. He's doing his best to hold his uncaring demeanour together, but he's slipped too much for it to be convincing. He's run out of time and his sister refuses to accept that.
This leads us into the final case and our impromptu trial to figure out just what exactly happened for Blackquill to land himself on death row.
How Blackquill guards himself while absolutely falling apart here is so heartbreaking. He's doing his best to protect Athena, to save the girl who's his mentor's precious treasure, and him and Athena going back and forth on whether or not the whole truth is worth exposing, no matter how painful it is, is excellent. I really feel Blackquill's desperation here, aided by one of the sickest Mood Matrix segments ever. Learning that Edgeworth asked Phoenix specifically to become a lawyer again to help Blackquill, having Edgeworth act as prosecutor on this trial, everything about this is so good. All of it really lends to showing us the player why we should care about Blackquill. It definitely got me good.
Only once we prove Blackquill and Athena both innocent does that weathered shield finally fall. Blackquill gets to show off a bit of his less guarded self, gets to have some fun as we leap into the next segment of the trial. He gets to finally, finally dig up the truth behind that terrible lie he's been keeping for the past seven years and confront this Phantom himself. If the Phantom reveal wasn't so slapdash, this entire segment would be a lot more powerful, I think.
All of it, though, is in service of the straight up satisfaction we get when seeing Blackquill at the end, able to live his life again. Seeing how he actually calls on Athena's help in the next game, then hops onto the bench with her to help her out is so good, there's so much growth that happened there. He's still his smarmy trickster self, but he's willing to show a bit of his caring older brother side! I love seeing it.
Anyway yeah hopefully this conveys how much I love Blackquill, wish he had that little extra oomph to his narrative to make him truly great.

Do you know if the curse on Hurin and his family only affected them when alive? Or did it influence their spirit/fea afterwards?
Well that’s a huge crux of The Words of Húrin and Morgoth, anon!
“This last then I will say to you, thrall Morgoth,” said Húrin, “And it comes not from the lore of the Eldar but is put into my heart in this hour. You are not the Lord of men and shall not be though all Arda and Menel fall in your dominion. Beyond the Circles of the World you shall not pursue those who refuse you.”
“Beyond the Circles of the World I will not pursue them,” said Morgoth, “For beyond the Circles of the World there is Nothing. But within them they should escape me until they enter into Nothing.”
“You lie,” said Húrin
“You shall see and you shall confess that I do not lie,” said Morgoth
( OK that part is kind of funny to me because isn’t Morgoth’s whole point that if he’s telling the truth how is Húrin going to confess?? he’ll be nothing and in nothing but that’s beside the point)
I’ve noted in the past that we can detect at least one confirmed lie regarding the nature of the curse on this page; Morgoth tells Húrin that nothing will be hidden from him however in the Wanderings it specifically states that many things were hidden from him, not just distorted but entirely obscured. Specifically the triumphs of his son and most notably the killing of Glaurung (though Húrin discovers this anyways later, much to Morgoth’s displeasure). This doesn’t specifically relate to the question of death in the afterlife but I did just want to note that anyways
Anyways, the fate of humans after death is a rather enduring mystery in Tolkien’s work. We don’t only that they go elsewhere, beyond the knowledge of elves and apparently beyond the knowledge of Morgoth. There is more I can say about this generally in the Atrabeth but unfortunately I do not have my copy of Morgoth’s Ring with me at the moment! (I’m at work and I always keep my copy of the Narn with me in my backpack but I don’t have most of the histories there). But I can return to that later if anyone wants
But there is a lot I can say about this. For one the sentiment of this being put into his heart in this hour is reminiscent of his brothers dying words to Turgon, if not in the words themselves but in the sense of premonition. It’s not as directly satisfying a premonition as “their chain still awaits you” which I truly believe Morgoth remembers when he’s once more bound by Angainor (and given the similarities between Húrin and Tulkas it’s fun to imagine that just for a moment, the visage of the Champion of the Valar flickers before his eyes and becomes another golden haired warrior who laughed at him. Anyways) but it’s definitely a powerful line and though again, Húrin will never see it, it does come to pass.
Húrin is among a few humans to speak of the Valar directly, mainly in The Wanderings when he speaks of Námo, Manwë and Oromë and in his conversation with Melkor. And in the BoLT version, he successfully prays to Manwë when he sees Túrin’s capture by orcs.
Also in the book of lost tales version, Morwen (Maevwin) and Húrin (Úrin) do not pass on but rather remain in the woods beyond Doriath, “bemoaning their children”. This is never implied to be a result of the curse however and obviously this version is not canonical anyways
But I do not think that the curse extends beyond death. Morgoth says the victims will die miserably and “curse both life and death” but even he seems to think that death is an escape for them albeit not any happy or peaceful one as he believes it is simply Nothing. (Just like with Húrin and Manthor’s talk of Shadows in The Wanderings, I think the capitalization of Nothing is very interesting)
Finally I would note that the words “she was not conquered” seem to imply that Húrin believes that the curse ends in death but that’s only my interpretation (I don’t think that’s primarily what the quote is about but I do think that’s a possible inference to it)
I hope this answers your question, anon! Please feel free to ask more!

🎃Let's summon demons
Last one from the old Halloween prompt list 🎃
The Seven Demons
Warnings: possession, demons, playing with a Ouija Board, spooky, not proof read
Tumblr media
“Absolutely not.”
“Come on, y/n, it’ll be fun!”
“There’s no fuckin way I’m playing with a Ouija board, Timothee, have you seen The Exorcist?”
Timothee rolled his eyes and pulled out the brown box containing the satanic board game.
“They market these to children, you know?”
“Guess that’s why you have one, huh?”
Timothee smirked, holding up his middle finger as he began unpacking the boxes contents. It was pretty simple from what you knew about ouija boards and from what the box itself contained: a board with numbers 0-9, the entire alphabet, and the words ‘hello’, ‘goodbye’ and ‘yes’ and ‘no’. The box also contained a single planchette which hovered over each letter, number or word that the spirit wants to show you.
“Did you know ‘planchette’ is French for ‘little plank’,” Timothee informed you.
“Did you know ‘fuck this’ is English for ‘count me the fuck out’?” You chuckled, amused at your wittiness. “Who are we trying to contact anyways?”
“Anyone who answers I guess,” Timothee said as he finished setting out the board and placed the planchette in between the words ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’. He said in front of the board, while you sat on the other side. Timothee pressed two fingertips onto the planchette and looked up and you.
You sighed, giving in to his beautiful stare. “Okay, but the minute something creepy happens I’m backing out.” You added your own to fingertips to the other side of the planchette and looked up at him. “Now what?”
“Okay,” Timothee started. “General rules to live by when fucking with Ouija boards. Number one: always a start by hovering over hello. This will be us moving the planchette. After we say hello, we ask questions to whatever ghost or spirit that might be there. Number two: always and I mean always, move the planchette to goodbye before we end the game.”
“What happens if we don’t say goodbye?”
“Well, we could leave a spiritual portal open.”
Your eyes widened. “What does that mean?”
“That means, spirits and ghosts of all kinds both good and evil would be free to come and go.”
You removed your fingers from the planchette all of a sudden feeling uneasy about the whole idea of talking to ghosts. “Remind me again why the fuck we’re doing this?”
“Because it’s a Halloween night and it’ll be fun, y/n. I’ve never actually contacted the dead with this, so it probably won’t even work.” You relaxed a little with the knowledge that he’d tried and failed at previous attempts of contact. “But what if today I’m successful.”
“I really hate you,” you said as Timothee grabbed your hands and placed your fingers back on the planchette.
“Shhh it’ll be fun,” he winked at you as you felt him drag the planchette across the board and over the word ‘hello’.
Your eyes never left Timothee’s face, you felt as if keeping them on him would make the situation less scary. He looked up at you as he thought of the next words to say.
“Hello?” He called out.
There were a few moments of still, calm silence interrupted by chill that was louder than any voice. You gasped as the planchette moved slightly, circling over the word ‘hello’.
“Holy shit,” Timothee breathed. It was laced with shocked laughter.
“Not funny, Timothee.”
“I didn’t move it.”
“Well neither did I.”
Timothee’s eyes slowly slid upward from the board to your face. “Then someone just told us hello.”
“Let’s stop, I don’t want to do this anymore. It’s freaking me out.”
“We’ll stop if it gets scary, I promise. Someone’s just told us ‘hello’, that’s not that scary, right?”
“That someone is dead, Timothee. Yes it’s-”
Your sentence was cut short as you felt the planchette slowly drag its way across the board. You were both silent, waiting to see what letter it would land on. When it finally did, Timothee began saying each one out loud.
“B-E-N-I-C-E.”
The movement stopped.
“What’s that spell?” Timothee asked.
Your blood ran cold as you realized. “It’s not a word, it’s a sentence. ‘Be nice.’”
“We-we’re sorry,” Timothee called out to the spirit. “I’m Timothee and this is my girlfriend, y/n.”
You used your free hand to smack him on the shoulder. “Don’t tell it our names.”
“Why not? We’re supposed to respect the dead, and you’re being rude.”
You opened your mouth for a comeback, but all that came out was a high- pitched yelp as the planchet slid aggressively from under your fingers and back up to ‘hello’.
“Uhm, what the fuck?” you whispered, eyes wide and focused on Timothee.
“I don’t know,” his were glued to the board. “That’s never happened before.”
“Okay, I think I’m done. This is too much to-”
You stopped as the planchette spun on the board. It began traveling again, moving to each letter it wanted to show you. It stopped for matter of seconds before moving to the next until it stopped all together.
There was silence until Timothee spoke. “Did you get any of that?”
“Let me in.” “Is that really what it said?” “Yes,” your voice was different and something else was too. It was like you had no control over your body, your movements, your voice. It was like you shared a brain with someone else...or something else. You were on the inside...looking out. You saw Timothee’s face, how his eyes shot up at you and how they were filled with terror. You’d never seen someone look so scared. “That is what we said,” were the next set of words that came out of your mouth. You were able to look down and see that as you spoke the planchet moved across the board, hovering over each letter of each word in the sentence you spoke.
“Who are you?” You heard Timothee say, his voice shook, but the entity that invaded your body laughed a laugh so horrible it made your soul shudder.
“Who am I not?” The entity spoke. “I have many names.”
“I’m Beelzabub,” a voice said. Followed by another and another. Each more fearsome than the last.
“I am Mammon.”
“I am Asmodeus.”
“I am Leviathan.”
“I am Satan.”
“I am Belphegor.”
“And I am Lucifer. The devil in the flesh,” the last voice spoke.
“What did you do with my girlfriend? Where is she?”
Timothee stood and while he’d normally tower over you, looking down at you, he looked up at you, as if you were the one now towering over him.
“She’s in here,” a voice that was different from the first spoke, followed by a chorus of evil voices, at least a dozen of them. “With us.”
You fought hard on the inside, attempting to scream, yell, communicate in some way to Timothee, to tell him that you were still there, but these entities were too strong. They overpowered you in every way.
You watched as Timothee’s face changed. You knew that look. He had an idea. You cheered him on from the inside, not having any idea of what he could have thought of. He picked up the planchette, determination obvious on his face, and placed it onto the board once again.
The demons inside stiffened, as Timothee slid the planchette towards the word ‘goodbye’. Their thoughts were jumbled in your head. You couldn’t hear one coherent thought as they all fought over what to do next, until in unison they all said, “jump.”
Your body ran toward the window, until your flesh was met with shattered glass. You knew Timothee’s apartment was on the 4th story, but they didn’t, and as Timothee landed on the word ‘goodbye’, you felt the demons leave your body one by one, until you were the only being left to feel the impact of the concrete down below.
You woke up in a hospital bed, Timothee was asleep in a chair right beside your bed. It was dark and you weren’t sure how many days had gone by since those demons threw you out the window. You moved to grab Timothee’s had, to let him know that you were awake and okay, but as you sat up, you saw them.
The seven demons.
They stood in front of your bed, each looking down at you and each smiling wickedly.
They never left.
They never would.

good lore, good lore.. i absolutely adore multiverses and immortals having arguments that last millions of years! this is so awesome
now that i know who devi is, i want to circle back and ask a bit more about eva
what were her lives before rebirth? how was she even made? what powers did she have?
thanks you for answering my silly questions about your characters 🙏
- void anon
It's such a pleasure to me I can do it all day if you let me
Actually, we do not need to circle back for that, we can just move forward from where I stopped the last time. Before we move on to Eva, I need to establish a few things that led to her birth.
There's a few things that happened in about a few hundred thousands to a million of years between the moment the Monster was sealed and when Devi left Afiar.
As I mentioned, she created 5 Elemental Spirits who went on to restore the world.
Amenir - the Spirit of Air - created a flying castle made of air for Devi.
Devi resqued Emi - a girl who lost everyone she ever knew as well as everyone of her race to the Monster's awakening.
Next few hundred years Emi spent in a hybernation, after which she went on to restore her kind and with time created an army of soldiers devoted to serving Devi. (Not like Devi was a huge fan of that at first, but she let Emi and the others do whatever they wanted.)
Devi made continuous efforts to change Darinir's mind about herself, but it was in vain.
Whenever she could, she spent her time helping people in need, protecting the weak, and fighting off anyone who posed a threat.
The rest of the time she spent on her own, with time creating two other Spirits - Rudy (the Spirit of Time - or rather a tiny fluffy fox squirrel) and Nirali (the Spirit of Art and everything that falls under the category of talent and inspiration) to keep her company. They will become the closest to her, and will remain by her side even when she will have many other friends in the future.
With time, Devi became quite bored of this routine. So she thought of something fun to do. Since she didn't remember ever having a childhood, she wanted to experience that for herself. She didn't consult anyone on that - not her mother, not her enemies, not her children. She just put Emi before the fact - she was going to be reborn as a human child in some other world. She took Nirali with her, merging their souls together so she'd always be by Devi's side, while left Rudy behind. It wasn't meant to take long. After all she intended to come back once she was 20 or something.
Thousands of years passed. She never returned. Everyone looked for her, but she was nowhere to be found.
Obviously something went wrong.
In the preparation to be reborn, Devi left her body and her soul traveled around the universe, in search of a good place to reborn in. Now, remember I mentioned that a piece of Afiar that flew out when the Monster awakened would form into a separate world that would go on to create an anomaly zone? Devi accidentally flew by and got caught up in it. It did quite a few things.
First, it suppressed her power. She was no longer in control of what was happening.
Then, when she was trying to fight it, her mind fractured and split her personality into 3 parts. One was the "Devi of Light" (I'm using such a wording intentionally, she's not the "good" and the other one is not the "bad" Devi, that matters), Rodari, who inherited Devi's wings, which became white with her. The other one was the "Devi of Darkness", Diano, who took the crack from Devi's eye. The third one was Devi herself, what was left of her.
As the result, she lost her memories once again.
As she was reborn, luckily to Devi, everyone inside of her - Diano, Rodari, the Monster, and even Nirali - were put into slumber. Nirali would wake up rather quickly though, but would realize she's trapped inside of Devi's mind, who didn't remember anything and was just like an actual human child.
As Devi grew up, she would often end up creating fantasies in her head. Between toxic family relationships, having no friends, and stressful school stuff, it was her only gateway. There was only one problem. The anomaly did drain all the magic it came in contact with, but what it also did was it made the fantasy of people inside the world affect the rest of the universe. Characters from the books were coming alive in a newly born world somewhere far away, far from the reach of its creator. But that was even more true for Devi. Because even though she lost her memory, she didn't lose her power, and even though it was constantly drained, that wasn't enough to rid of it completely. And the fact that Devi didn't know it existed didn't mean she wasn't using it unconsciously. So, unbeknownst to her, her fantasies were affecting the entire universe. Everything she were thinking about was coming true outside the anomaly. And not only did she affect the future, she also affected the past. She created the fates of people... who she already met. But she didn't remember them. I'm talking about Ula and Lana. She crafted a story of their lives... that she already knew. Just didn't remember. But those two weren't the only ones. There were 7 people she affected directly, and many more - indirectly. One of those 7 was Riam.
I already went on a big enough of a tangent, so I will skip laying out Devi and Riam's relationship. What matters is Devi heavily influenced his very existence, but some stuff remain hidden even from her. Eventually, she got caught up in her own fantasies so badly, that she completely fell in love with her own mind's creation - that is to say, Riam. So one evening when she was especially lonely, she unconsciously completely overpowered the anomaly and just teleported Riam to herself.
Again I will not go into the details of their relationships now, what matters is they fell in love, and after figuring out that finding out how to get out of the world they both ended in might take a bit, they eventually married. And during their honeymoon, Devi got pregnant.
That's how Eva was born.
Now, I will shift to her story.
When Eva was born, Nirali - who was practically her older sister - planted a kiss on her forehead. Being the Spirit, what that did was it blessed Eva with extraordinary talent. Combined with her father's genes, Eva developed extremely quickly. By one year old she could already read with no problems, and by three she could solve simple math problems. When she went to school, she was far ahead of her peers, and what ended up happening is that she would be let to do whatever she wanted in class, as long as she aced all her tests. And of course she did. Devi also made sure Eva had several tutors who would teach her in accordance to her level of development. Once Eva was a bit older, she agreed that it was better than shoving her in the higher grades with more grown up kids or depriving her of socialization by tutoring her at home. As for changing schools into a more advanced one, Devi debated doing that... But there was one slight problem with that.
When Eva was 6, she got two twin little brothers.
As they were growing up, they looked and acted absolutely identical to each other. Even their own parents couldn't tell them apart when they were in matching closes. For some reason, Eva was the only one who could always tell them apart. Consequentially, she was the only one that could put a stop on their twin antics.
But fast forward to the time Eva would go on to graduate. Even though no one doubted her ability to ace the final exam, that was still pretty stressful, and the stress only multiplied with what was happening at home.
After almost 20 years of searching and trying everything she could even think of, Devi finally was able to create a portal out of the world they were in. Funnily enough, it came to her in a dream. She tried her best to replicate it, but she must've messed it up in several places because the portal barely opened. But that was enough for something to grab Riam and shove him inside, after which it closed immediately. At first Devi was incredibly happy. She tried to achieve that for so long! But slowly her happiness faded as she came to the realization, "...But what about me..?"
Devi quickly spiraled down into a deep depression, and Eva had to choose between staying by her side to help her through it and preparing for her own exams, while also taking care of her brothers. But she managed through it and successfully passed her final exam. And when she came back to share the news...
Devi's pain was so unbearable that she unconsciously tore through the fabric of reality, completely overpowering the anomaly, and creating a portal. But when the answer was right before her, she hesitated. She couldn't just go in and leave her children behind. At the same time, they had their own lives and aspirations, Eva was almost an adult, with Paul and Pete already being teens. Forcing them down the path she wanted to go didn't feel right either. But they still needed to be taken care of, she couldn't just abandon them. But she couldn't stay either, not when she had that chance, she would go on to regret it for the rest of her life.
That's where Eva found her when she returned home. And she didn't need any words to understand what was going on. Then, she encouraged Devi to leave them and go, promising that she'll take care of the boys, and when they will be ready, they will somehow find a way to find her. She didn't really think that far ahead, she just knew that if her mom stayed, she'd be deeply unhappy. Devi didn't have time to think for too long, and just before the portal closed, she went into it.
But the task that Eva assumed upon herself was not an easy one. By then, the twins who used to be indistinguishable started showing signs of separating into two completely different people, and losing both of their parents made them develop completely different personalities.
Much like Eva, Paul understood mother's decision. He trusted both Devi and Eva with their decisions. But Pete... He didn't take it well at all. He was angry. Angry that his parents abandoned him, and he vented his frustration on none other than Eva. He criticized her cooking, comparing to how Devi used to do it, he criticized her for not having a job, despite them not having problems with money, criticized her for not cleaning the house. Eva understood his frustration so she didn't stop him, but Paul wasn't taking that, and the two of them were constantly fighting over everything now. But Paul understood that Eva also wasn't all that happy that Devi left, and with the university she just got in on top of that, the last thing she needed was chores and quarrels at home. He tried to do everything he could, but Pete was just making everything more difficult than it needed to be.
That went on until both boys hit 15. By then, both of them knew what they wanted to do in life. Pete has decided to be a professional musician, and as soon as he could, he left to study in the music college, making sure he let it be known that he doesn't want anything to do with his family anymore. By that time Eva went on to study for her future master's degree in chemistry. As for Paul, he had an obsession of his own. All he wanted was to protect Eva. So he went on his own path, going to the military academy.
Now that I laid out the kinda dynamic the three have and what they've been doing with their lives, I'll quickly go through the rest that happened there.
Eva graduated with the master's degree in chemistry, and went on to own her own lab where she started working on finding something that could create a portal so they could reunite with their parents.
Paul graduated the college and went on to serve in the military.
After that he went on to the military university and studied there in the air force department.
Sometimes they would do street patrols, and in one of such days Paul happened to pass by Eva's lab. He immediately noticed something was wrong. By a pure coincidence, exactly at the time he was passing through there, something went array in the lab, and just a moment after Paul thought something was off, there was a massive explosion. Eva was inside.
By an order of their captain, cadets helped evacuate people, but Paul was concerned since he couldn't find Eva. Eventually the fire got too strong, and Paul disobeyed orders completely and went inside.
Eva made sure everyone was evacuated, but by that time she inhaled too much toxins and passed out in the fire. Paul got to her in time to grab her and jump out of the window before there was another massive explosion that would've killed them both.
They both were sent to ER. Paul suffered from mild intoxication, light burns, and he also sprained his ankle when landing. Eva suffered much more heavily. She fell into a coma.
For more than a year Eva remained unconscious, and Paul made sure to stay by her side at all cost. His studying was paused for as long as he needed. Eventually, Eva woke up. Paul held a huge grudge against Pete for not showing up even once.
Paul would go on to finish the university, and Eva continued working on her research. They barely saw each other, and as soon as Paul graduated he was mobilized as a war broke right about that time.
He went on to pilot a fighter jet on the front lines, and nearly died. His body was never found, and he was declared missing.
Eva was going crazy worrying about him, while Pete as always showed miracles of compassion and care, just shy of celebrating his brother's death.
Paul survived though and returned home on his own two. He would be later awarded a medal since his feat practically turned the tide of the war.
Once the war was over, Paul didn't retire, instead he went on to be Eva's personal bodyguard. He ensured the lab's safety and protected her when she was awarded for her achievements in the field of chemistry.
Eventually, she achieved her goal. She created an essence that could turn a mirror into a portal. She couldn't control the destination, but it could bypass the anomaly's borders, and they could figure it out from there. Pete refused to go with them, but Eva left an extra bottle of that essence for him if he ever changed his mind.
From then on, Eva and Paul quickly reunited with Devi, and found out it's been many thousand years for her. At that point in time, Devi still hadn't recovered her memory, but she was already pretty strong.
A whole new world was open before them. For Paul it was simple - she went wherever Eva went. And Eva went everywhere - she wanted to try everything. Eventually she settled on two things. First, she became a succubus. And second, she became obsessed with fighting. She used to fight as a child, and seeing her mom being strong and beautiful, she wanted to be just as strong as her.
Eva made good progress, quickly becoming third strongest person in the universe - right after her parents (though it's questionable who made that list to begin with.) And then it happened.
As I mentioned before, Devi had a lot on her shoulders. Not remembering her past, she already defeated one enemy, and another one showed up right after, and she didn't even know why they were so determined to kill her. The truth was those two were sent after her... by her own mother.
Anorava gave them a fraction of her power and wanted one thing in exchange - find Devi and do anything they had to but restore her memories. But Darkness was a wicked power, and given to those who were too weak, it corrupted their minds. And Alphonse completely forgot what was the reason he was fighting Devi - but unable to overpower her it seeded a deep hatred for her in his heart.
Alas, Devi was oblivious to this. She was just tired. She already suffered one heartbreak, and another one that shattered her soul in pieces completely, and she barely was able to recover. She thought that if Alphonse was so determined to kill her then if she died he'll rest easy. So she left the protection of the universe to Eva, and went to Heavens.
First of all, she got bored really quickly there. She did have her rest, but quickly realized that she would absolutely dread spending an eternity there.
But that was the least of her problems. Because there was someone who really didn't like her being dead, aside from her friends.
Eva thought she was ready to face any opponent, but she was absolutely unprepared for how wicked and insane Alphonse was. He didn't want Devi dead. No, he wanted to kill her. And surely Devi will come back if he hurts something really precious to her. And he knew nothing was more precious to her than her family.
All he did was he burned Eva's eyes out. Completely. Along with her eyelids. The pain was so agonizing that Eva's own scream ruptured her eardrums, and after a while she lost her voice too. She would regain her voice eventually, but never - ears and eyes. And as if that wasn't enough, he branded Eva's soul. That way, even if she somehow managed to restore her eyes, she was destined to lose them. Again, and again, and again. No matter what she did, no matter how hard she tried, she could return her speech, even her ears - with enough miracle - but never her eyes. Not for long at least.
To say that Devi was mad - to say nothing. She was furious, and also hurt. She would never stop blaming herself for what happened to Eva. And she was incredibly angry. Alphonse achieved his goal - Devi returned to the world of the living. But contrary to his expectations she didn't go on to fight him - first thing she did was making sure Eva wasn't going to do anything to herself.
When all that happened, Eva was left completely alone in the darkness. Saw nothing, heard nothing, only felt pain. Wanted to cry but tears wouldn't come out. She even forgot there was an enemy in front of her - not like he cared about her at all.
But soon enough she felt first touch. Someone grabbed her by the shoulders and slightly shook. She instinctively recoiled, and the touch stopped. Recognized it clearly wasn't an enemy, she reached forward and grabbed the shirt. Big warm hand gently laid over her hand. She skimmed through everyone she knew to figure out who that hand belong to. Figured out it can't be anyone but Paul, she relaxed.
Only when she lost her most important senses did she truly come to appreciate how much Paul cared about her. He carried her home, treated her injuries, applied bandages, and held her hand as she fell asleep. In the situation where she lost everything - he was the sunshine in the complete darkness that she needed to not give up completely. And then Devi came right into her mind, making her feel like the world around her still existed, like it was not all destroyed when she lost her senses.
Devi made sure Eva was still mentally stable, and went on helping her learn how to stop relying on her eyes and ears to live. Not like Devi knew how to. She had to bullshit her way through it, learning herself as she went. Because she knew that if she doesn't, she might lose Eva.
Thanks to her efforts, pretty quickly Eva became much more aware of her surroundings. She became more sensitive to smells, vibrations, and touch. The latter was also making her feel pain more strongly. Her voice slowly returned, a bit hoarse, but she could speak, though couldn't hear herself. Gradually she learned to identify the energy flow around her and translate it into a complete picture inside her head. And in next millions of years of practice she would even go as far as to be able to decipher the sound vibrations and understand speech without actually hearing it. Being forced in such a situation made her a true master of "seeing without eyes, hearing without ears", even Devi could not reach her level of mastery.
Devi tried everything she could to return Eva's eyes and ears. And if with ears it went well, Eva always lost her eyes, one way or another, no matter what, and then always decided to rid of ears to, just because she was used to get by without both. But no matter how much times she said that that's how she prefers it, deep inside she knew she wanted to be able to see. Even if the truth was that without eyes and ears she was stronger than with them, she was willing to trade that for the ability to see her mother, her brother... and of course, her son.
But that was not all. Because even after Alphonse was defeated and gone seemingly forever, he kept living in Devi's, and especially so in Eva's nightmares.

Still thinking about the OOO 10th movie after watching it on friday night and I think I've narrowed down my biggest critique with it (spoilers ahead obviously for those who havent seen it):
I think what kills me the most about the decision to kill Eiji off is that it's literally defying the very logic that they set up in the main series for how possession and healing a dying body with it work.
I like to read TVTropes just for fun sometimes when I'm bored and they make this point on Eiji's page in regards to how things go down in the movie:
Tumblr media
But here's the thing: It literally didnt have to be that way. We see even Ankh's spirit, something he shouldn't be able to have but is granted due to how he helps Eiji out in the end of the series, following Eiji around while he travels to look for a way to bring him back. Eiji might not know hes there, but he is either way. Eiji's spirit is Clearly still hanging on enough that he's able to say goodbye to everyone in the end, and he is the one who pushes Ankh out of his body. That alone tells me he's there enough that he could have possibly been saved, had the writers wanted to go that way. (Also after all that time you cannot tell me it'd be that fuckin easy for Eiji to push Ankh out like that, I don't believe that for a second.)
It also would have been so much more Thematically fitting and a good way to bring things full circle if they had ended it on the note of "Ankh will possess Eiji until he's able to heal the same way he did for Shingo" because their relationship has Always worked on some level of give and take. Eiji spent a fuckin decade trying so hard to bring Ankh back, and after all that time I'd like to think (especially with how he reacts to Goda taking Eiji's body) that Ankh would care enough to try and help him to heal. It would be such a full circle and much more hopeful ending to everything, which was The Whole Point of the end of the original series too.
It just rubs me the wrong way to kill Eiji off in this way after how hard he fought to actually have something to Want to live for again. His promise was Always "a future that we can both live in together," not "one where I go so Ankh can stay." It makes no sense to kill him off like this when you could have very well given them their Actual hopeful decent ending, and it just rings hollow in the end.
Personally I chose to view this as some bad end timeline as a result of time fuckery from other series stuff but thats just me. It just sucks cause there Is concepts from the movie I like (Tajador Eternity fucks so hard and it gave Ankh his own body back too which is nice, and the Concept of Goda and Eiji being possessed by someone else Is actually a fun one for Ankh to deal with too) but that ending just sours the whole thing in the end.

and more lagann-hen thoughts below the cut :]
i love you gurren lagann……….you’re so everything to me………i’m so grateful to have experienced these showings and i feel so strongly they should put these movies in theaters worldwide 😭 i’m writing this right after the last one and i’m nowheres near as jazzed as i was after all of the other showings and i feel like it’s because it’s somewhat bittersweet? it’s been a hell of a week+ and i can’t believe it’s over, but… we had a lot of fun, didn’t we? (absolutely bursts into tears)
anyways!! 4dx thoughts first:
I SAW IT IN 4DX ON TUESDAY CAUSE I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I COULD ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION TO THE DUB BUT. THEY SHOWED THE DUB TUESDAY ANYWAY????? SO I SAW IT TWICE. IDK WHAT HAPPENED THERE BUT I’M SO HAPPY IT DID. THAT DUB SUMMONING CIRCLE POST FUCKING WORKED
at the scene where yoko’s just gotten simon outta prison and boota leaps into her titties the seats started bouncing too and like. causing some irl gainaxing i’m ngl 😭
ALSO YEAH WHEN SIMON VOMITS BLOOD THEY SPRAY YOU WITH WATER. AGAIN. WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THESE 4DX PLANNING SESSIONS
i went to a different 4dx theater this time and they kept??? blasting the back of our legs with air??? and they did not do that during gurren-hen and i am SO confused what that was all about
every time i watch that scene where arc gurren transforms into arc gurren lagann i think to myself “those poor civilians are probably getting JOSTLED” and HAVING NOW FELT IT MYSELF. THEY SURE WERE 😭
ALSO i know why wakabayashi fell out of his seat while watching. and it’s because THEY PURPOSELY TRY TO KNOCK YOU OUT OF IT!!!!!! like when viral throws lagann at the antispiral and when lagann throws simon, they hit you in the back HARD and if i hadn’t been gripping the armrest for dear life i would’ve been knocked out too 😭 the lordgenome battle was crazy too, as well as Literally everything after they escape the labyrinth. which is expected but DAMN it was a wild time!!!
the fog floating around the theater during The Scene with kamina. fucking ethereal
OKAYYYY konishi & trigger interview/lead-in thoughts:
konishi’s little speech was so funny omg 😭 he really was like “i know some of you only came for this movie and not the first one” LMAOOOO. he also spend a HOT minute being like “this is the end of gurren lagann! the very end! there’s no more! please enjoy the end! 😇” and i KNOW trigger is smart enough to not make a sequel or anything BUT THE WAY HE WAS SAYING IT had me worried i’d get hit with some “surprise! third movie!” after the end of this one LMFAO
they said that the reason they added SO much new animation for lagann-hen was because the end of gurren-hen got such a good reception from fans and like. it’s WILD to hear that as i do still, in my mind, view these as “compilation movies” but i always forget JUST HOW MUCH of lagann-hen is just. completely new LMAO. and it’s really interesting as i feel like the new animation is kind of more dispersed throughout the movie than being back-loaded like in gurren-hen!!
koyama also mentioned something really sweet, that when they were finishing up making this movie they had pulled in a whole bunch of different animators from other studios, and it really felt similar to the spirit of gurren lagann itself in that it was stronger because everyone was working together 🥺 making myself tear up typing this out tbh but i really do love how much of ttgl’s message and story is part of its production………i think it really helps contribute to like, the honesty and sincerity of the story!!!!
AND NOW FOR MY DUB THOUGHTS:
HOLLYYYYYYYYYYYYY SHIT THIS DUB WAS AMAZING. even better than gurren-hen’s by a LONG shot - though admittedly i think it’s also benefitted by having so much changed dialogue, and so there’s not as much direct comparison that can go on? still, everyone fucking killed it and i’m so so so excited to buy this on bluray and listen to it every day LMAO
anyways all that said, my very small gripes that literally don’t even matter because i’m so fucking stoked that we HAVE A DUB AND ITS AWESOME: yoko’s performance is still not doing it for me 😭 i feel like her lines suffered the most from the stricter adherence to lip flaps, and she was still doing the head voice thing that she did in the first movie… also they pronounced “anne” as “ann” rather than “ah-neh” which surprised me, and ALSO at one point i think cybela said “laGAHN” rather than “lagann”? but they said darry’s name right and also these are SUCH tiny nitpicks that they don’t even matter cause everythign else ruled so hard LMAO.
VIRAL. AMAZING AS EXPECTED. LITERALLY NO NOTES HE WAS PERFECT. also that scene where lordgenome’s like “we have to steal my old moon gunman” and viral’s like “well it’s a good thing that your SPECIALTY is STEALING GUNMEN, simon” had me DYING. cut the man a break viral, you’ve been on his side for two seconds and yet could not wait any longer to sass him LMFAO
KITTAN RULED ALSO. his whole speech to gimmy - when he said “show me someone who ain’t afraid of dyin’ and i’ll show you a liar!” it fucking HIT. GOD. and his final sacrifice??? honestly on par with or even better than the tv version, god, he KILLED IT.
also gimmy!! and darry!!! i’m WILDLY impressed that they still sounded like their old selves here!!! excellent job!!!
the antispiral was really great too - crispin freeman did a great job of making him more, like, unhinged overall??? like when he is going to TOWN on ttgl and tearing it apart and there was BLOOD EVERYWHERE JESUS. that part is shocking in visuals alone but he knocked it out of the park with the voice acting too!!!
I Cannot Believe They Made Johnny Yong Bosch Say “i’m a fool of epic proportions!” Out Loud In English With His Mouth. about to integrate that into my own vocabulary tbh LMAO, i figured they would’ve tweaked the wording there a little!! either way though he ALSO KILLED IT AS ROSSIU, god his “so many others” like was PERFECT in its equal desperation and relief and i know nia is the one who says it but “rossiu cannot save humanity. he can’t even save himself.” makes me go ten types of crazy insane stupid oh my GODD
at one point dayakka had the line “oh no! the giga drill broke?” and i swear to god i saw the 2007 youtube compilation of “giga drill breaks” ending with that line in full 480p in my mind when he did LMAO. on par with simon’s “you mean we need an EVEN BIGGER DRILL? 😱” from the tv show
NIAAAAAAA OH MY GOD. she was INCREDIBLE, like her “no way! 😇” wasn’t as strong as in the tv version imo but HER ANTISPIRAL VOICE????? god it was soooo sinister it killed me. also every scene of her and simon… when she accepted his proposal i was full-on sobbing, maybe romance IS real………
AND NOW. SIMON. YURI FUCKING LOWENTHAL MY GOD. i knew he was gonna kill it since he did amazing in gurren-hen despite not sounding 14 anymore BUT OH MY LORD. I WAS NOT EXPECTING HIM TO COMPLETELY ALTER MY PERCEPTION OF SIMON AS A CHARACTER FOR THE BETTER. AND YET HE DID. LIKE. you can HEAR how much simon is struggling emotionally in this movie much MUCH more so than you can in any other version imo, like the fucking prison scene???? the way he sounded so resigned and defeated and NOT ACTUALLY CONTENT but knowing that he NEEDS to be content JESUS CHRIST. he literally NEEDED viral to jump in front of that blast from nia and save him oh my god. and during the final battle too, you can just Hear his struggle through his voice. his struggle with his spiral power, and how much of it he has, and controlling it when he maybe doesn’t WANT to. his struggle to move forward and fight with Everything he has despite knowing that Nia Will Die. simon as a force of nature, simon as a galaxy, simon as someone to whom the spiral nemesis is Already Happening and yet literally simon just some guy. i am going to start chewing through my walls. FUCK!!!!!!!!! thank you yuri lowenthal this was LIFE CHANGING. BLURAY WHEN
anyways. i’m ngl my undereye bags are starting to look like ep9 simon’s so uh. i’m v excited to go to bed at 8:30pm every night for the next two weeks 😅 highly extremely worth every second of sleep lost tho!!!

questions for fic writers
wow just noticed @softbrah tagged me in this....how fun! let's go!
How many works do you have on ao3?
120! that's since 2011.
What’s your total ao3 word count?
1,222,928. dear god.
What fandoms do you write for?
currently we deep in the k-pop trenches, collecting lil blorbos with compelling narratives and dynamics to smack together like dolls. specifically i've been writing for Seventeen lately, and previously for TXT and BTS, and because i am me, i write niche inter-band shit and collected a couple soloists to throw in for seasoning.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Addicted (to loving you) (Teen Wolf scott/stiles. no, idk either. please don't read it.)
pictures in frames of kisses on cheeks (checkpls bitty/jack/kent. pure fluff no substance the people love it)
love doesn't come in boxes (checkpls bitty/jack)
something good and right and real (hockey rpf benn/seguin, cowritten with @aperfect20)
drop everything now (hockey rpf bgally/agally, cowritten with @aperfect20. listen. these hockey fics are of their time and now they'll never leave the first page sorted by kudos.)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes, all the time! it takes negligible time and brain power for me, and i like to let people know how much i appreciated hearing their thoughts, even when it was just a thank you and then we're in a lil awkward thanking circle.
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
ok, i think it just has to be a tie between "only time is ours" and "34 Days", which are check please kent/jack fics about the same pre-canon break-up events, the first from jack's pov and the second from kent's (tho iirc they have different interpretations of events beyond the pov switch, too). they are inherently angsty bc absolutely nothing is good at the end of them.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
this is so hard to decide, bc i primarily write romcoms and by the end of them if your teeth aren't rotting i did it wrong. i will give a shoutout to "doesn't matter what we do", a bts jimin/j-hope that is all about just Letting Urself Be Soulmates and then grossing out ur bandmates about it.
Do you get hate on fics?
no, thank god.
Do you write smut?
yes i have been known to write filth. sometimes the romcom plot calls for it. i'm horrible at pwp bc i'm always giving it plot, but u kno, sometimes the spirit moves me and i manage it.
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
crossovers of fandoms that have nothing to do with each other actually kind of squick me - i'm talking crossovers where characters who have never and will never meet are there for no reason (think superwholock tbh, tho i was uncharacteristically a lil into that at the time), not fusions or big universes with diff shows or whatever. it's just not for me!
but in terms of things where it's less drastic (crossing over bands in k-pop, for example) i am all over that, bc there's interesting stuff from real life there! my craziest example atm is a baekho/jun fic, and like, it's not that crazy!
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
i don't think so!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes, it's always so awesome that someone wants to take the time to do that.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
yessssss, my favourite way to create fic.
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
this is an extremely insensitive thing to ask a ship whore like me. there are some ships that REALLY set my brain on fire over the years, though. check pls kent/jack drives me insane to this day. harry styles/nick grimshaw was So compelling. 2012 oilers "kid line" (nugent-hopkins/hall/eberle) went off.
often fandom really makes these ships worth it to talk about and inspires me to contribute. i am often very compelled by one character in particular and just ship them with everyone possible so i can examine all their sides.
What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
hmmmm if i WANT to finish it, i probably will. there are things that i ended up abandoning, though. one of those i'm still kinda sad about was a dylan/mitch/auston sequel to my connor/rystro.
What are your writing strengths?
i write realistic dialogue and i'm great at characterization (shoutout to the mean comment i got circa 2010 telling me to get good at characterization. i did. thanks.) my voice has always been strong, too.
What are your writing weaknesses?
i sometimes slack on depicting the interior emotions of characters. i'm not great with setting or exposition because the brand of fanfic i tend to write isn't a great place to practice those skills. i try to find places to do it, though!
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
it's the norm in k-pop fandom to drop in localization things like honorifics, and i like it because it can communicate relationships between the characters and so that it's not SO divorced from the context the idols actually live in. this is such a weirdly specific question, idk what else to say about it lmao
First fandom you wrote for?
twilight. bless her.
Favorite fic you’ve written?
choosing between my children? ok. at the moment i'm quite fond of too real to call it magic, a contemporary fantasy au where the main character is stuck in a dream. i felt really good about what i did with the themes and setting of the source material (a mv, so you're only 3mins and a quick google of the main characters' names away from reading this fic!) and the way i developed the relationship. it's underrated af bc it's a niche pairing.
i will tag @aperfect20 since i already tagged her in the text of the post. no pressure tho.

Day 3
Pairing: Seo Woobin x fem!oc
Genre: Horror, established relationship
Summary: Rina and her friends decided to play the ouija, what could go wrong?
Warning: Death, cursing, bruises, drowning, accidents
Notes: I’ve actually never played it so I’m basing it on basically everything from movies I’ve seen, lmao.
Tumblr media
Rina was with her boyfriend, Woobin, and her group of friends at Minhee’s house.
The couple was hugging on one end of the coach on the living room. While the others where scrolling through their phones or talking amongst them. All of them extremely bored.
“I’m sooo bored.” Seongmin whined.
“Me too.” Hyeongjun spoke. “Don’t you have any cool games or something?”
“I have Monopoly or Uno.” Minhee responded.
It was never a good idea to play any of those with them, it always ended up in petty fights.
“Hmm, anything else?” Allen asked.
“Uh! How about Spin the bottle or Never have I ever?” Jungmo proposed.
“What are you, a middle schooler?” Wonjin teased him, which made the older hit him on the arm.
“Maybe something that won’t destroy our friendship.” Serim joked.
“Hmm, I think my parents have a ouija board on the basement.”
“I’m not sure about that, it’s dangerous. You know?” Rina spoke in an uneasy tone.
“Nothing’s gonna happen, Rin. Don’t be silly.” Taeyoung said.
“If you don’t want to play you don’t have to, love.” Wonbin looked at her.
“No, no. I don’t want to be a buzzkill. I was just saying.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, don’t worry, Bin.” He nodded and kiss her cheek, making her smile.
“Okay, all those in favor of playing?”
Everyone raised their hand, some more enthusiastically than others.
“Then I’ll go get it.” The blonde said, walking downstairs.
It didn’t take him a lot of time to return, holding a medium sized board.
He placed it on the wooden table that was right in front of the coach. And indicated everyone to sit in a circle, surrounding it.
“According to the internet, you have to put two fingers on the planchette and ask if someone’s there.” Serim explained.
They all did as he said, not thinking that it would actually work.
Spoiler alert, it did.
“I bet Taeyoung moved it.” Jungmo spoke, clearly not impressed.
“I didn’t! Ask another question and see for yourself.” He defended himself.
“Okay, then. What is your name?”
It took a second for the planchette to move, spelling out “Crowley”.
“Seriously, who moved it?” Wonbin asked rolling his eyes.
“No one did!” The remaining exclaimed.
As they continued to ask the spirit questions, they soon found out that it was all real.
“This has been suuuper fun but I’m expected to be home soon.” Seongmin spoke nervously.
“Don’t tell me you’re scared, Seongminie.” Wonjin said in a teasing tone.
“Like you aren’t! Don’t pretend like you aren’t a scaredy cat.”
“Pff no.”
It was a well known fact that Seongmin, Wonjin and Hyeongjun were the ones that got scared the most and the easiest.
“Yeah, sure.”
“Stop fighting, you two.” Serim scolded them, rolling his eyes.
“I’m getting hungry, how about we eat and then play video games?” Rina asked, wanting to stop playing.
“I like the idea, honey.”
The rest nodded and removed their fingers, making a huge mistake.
Everyone knew or almost everyone that you have to say goodbye to the spirit before taking your fingers off the planchette.
Nobody thought of that and went to order food, leaving the ouija unattended.
Their hangout ended at approximately 11 pm, then everyone parted ways.
“Thanks for everything, Min!”
“Have a good night.”
The pair walked towards their car and drove to their shared apartment.
Rina was on the drivers seat and Woobin on the passenger’s, being the passenger princess he is.
They were halfway there, when they passed a very isolated street. They were waiting for the traffic light to turn green when they saw a white figure in front of them.
“Hmm, baby? Do you see that too?” The brown haired asked in panic.
“What, Bin?”
“That white figure that resembles a man in a white suit.”
“Ohhh that, yeah.” She processed his words for a minute. “Please tell me that isn’t a spirit.”
“I think it is.”
“Could it be Crowley?” She asked more stressed. “Do you remember if we said our goodbyes?”
“I-I think we did, or not? I can’t remember.”
“Oh my god, this is so bad.” She put her hands on her face. “We have to warn the others once we’re home.”
“Yeah, okay. Let’s hurry then.”
They were able to get there without other interruptions.
They called everyone but only Allen and Hyeongjun answered, they were okay but felt uneasy. And the next days were worse for everyone.
Seongmin had scratches all over his body, Serim fell and broke his left arm, Taeyoung fell from a three story building and was in a coma, Hyeongjun almost drown on the tub, Minhee almost chocked while eating and Allen lost his voice.
Shockingly, Rina and Woobin were okay. Apart from feeling like they were being watched every minute of the day and even night.
Until that unfortunate night when Woobin felt like he couldn’t breath. He felt like someone was choking him, like there where hands on his neck.
“Honey? Where are you?” Rina was returning from the store when she didn’t hear anything. Which was odd since the boy always placed music.
She felt anxious, so she walked to their shared bedroom, in there, she saw Woobin’s figure lying in the bed, not moving at all.
The girl began crying and panicking, she dialed 112 and came closer to him, holding him.
Thinking that if they have had done something as simple as saying goodbye, all of these tragedies wouldn’t have happened.
