Vivziepop’s and Adam’s childish responses have made me lose respect for them and the shows. An important rule to all creatives, refrain from responding to criticism. Maybe even avoid it, but definitely do not respond. Their “defense” against poor writing reveals they are hurt and can’t handle criticism. You are creators, you will be criticized. That’s the risk we all take. Audiences aren’t required to coddle your feelings and give their feedback in kind words and affirmations.
You’re allowed to be hurt. No one likes criticism, especially of something near and dear to their hearts. That thread on Millie was an immature fishing attempt at praise and adoration from her fans. She set up strawmen for them to mock and smack down all while throwing shade at her critics. Adam retweets an article about how most criticism these days are from people too dense to understand media. Sir, fuck you. People disliking your writing doesn’t make them stupid or wrong. Even if they are, shut up. You look pathetic. Belittling your audience is foolish.
I waited years for Hazbin Hotel. I liked the beginning of Helluva Boss. I’m allowed to critique things. I’m allowed to have “wrong” opinions though we can literally see that Millie has had no significant development in comparison to her male counterparts. Moxxie has 3 episodes dedicated to this, including the one where me go to Millie’s hometown. If her development is coming, fine. It says something that you have to make a thread saying you will because, clearly, you haven’t.
I’m still holding out hope for Hazbin. I’ve been waiting since high school and I liked the pilot.
Finally,
The writing of Helluva Boss is atrocious. Stolas is annoying. Blitzo is inconsistent. Moxxie is fucking pathetic and I can’t believe they wasted Zim’s VA on him. Grow a spine. Millie is adorable but is only Moxxie’s wife. Loona is there…Octavia is also there. Stella is so overkill it’s stupid. The character designs are not diverse. I will watch the next episode and how many episodes after, if I want. I’ll shit on them, if I want. The show has drastically dropped views and you can see it. There are also too many fucking merch sales. They’re acting like Poppy’s Playtime.
Edit: apparently Viv decided to cry about a new video, which was very polite, and tweeted about it. I can’t muster up anything beyond “yikes.”

Even Cartoonshi is starting to realize HB’s heavy writing flaws, and this guy loves the show. VERY good video addressing everything, like the woobification of Stolas, character development being retconned or erased, how the season feels like fanfiction, Moxxie going through the same character arc, the status quo for every episode repeating, the character inconsistencies, how Viv should have let us get to know the main characters more before she dived into the emotional side, ect. I recommend a watch, it was also satisfying to see him call Vivzie and Adam out on their bullshit for their laughable tweets, and especially Viv’s venom responses to criticism. I think it’s also important how he states that Helluva is a character driven show and yet the show clearly cares more about certain characters than others. It makes me realize that the fans who argued with critics about this NOT being the “Blitz and Stolas show” looked like idiots in the end since Vivziepop herself admitted that yes….she in fact had planned the two to be the main focus. It really is satisfying to see that people are being more critical of the show and not afraid of Viv’s and the fandom’s rabid responses. Good soup. 👌

Turns out this was Adam's first episode that he had written. So, I can forgive the weird pacing and all. It's not like Vivzie or Brandon started out perfect. They still probably would say they have things they need to work on. Yeah.
Overall though, I'd say he did a decent job.

Helluva Boss Review (Spoilers?)
Honestly, I’m going to be as fair and based as much as I can since I also like this show, though there are specific patterns that still bother me. To those who don’t know, Helluva Boss is one of these YouTube cartoons made for adults by this animator, Vivienne Medrano, or Vivziepop, as she’s called at times. She also made another show that will come out soon called Hazbin Hotel which will come…

Check out this scene yall, stolas being manipulative, exploitative, opportunistic, and selfish as always.
Blitz asks why a powerful demon Lord like him, with legions, an army, petrification abilities, demonic possession and evil forms they have all seen firsthand, which have been weaponised against them. suddenly needs help from imps to do his dirty work at every turn.
Stolas comes up with some technical reason why he’s suddenly weak and limited…which Adam Neylan probably came up with five seconds ago before writing this. And he says this while smiling, that he needs Blitzø to play hero cause he finds it hot.
Blitz says he can’t play the game today because his daughters health comes first.
And this fucker laughs at that, and still tries to convince him to drop everything, including Loona, to run to his aid. AND HE DOESNT EVEN FEEL IN DANGER YET!! no he never stopped calling him “Blitzy” even now.
Two other examples of him pretending to be weak for blitzø to come help him or force him to stay next to him are seeing stars and LooLoo land. This dude is lying.

So, an anonymous source shared this with me. To put it simple, the co-writer of Helluva being Adam Neylan shares the pay rate for an animator. The rate is apparently $35 per one second of rough animation, but it could be potentially negotiated with depending on how complex the shot is.
So...$35 for one second/shot of animation? Call me crazy but I've commissioned other artists the same or slightly more that amount just for colored sketches or full-blown drawings (shading and everything). I'm not entirely sure how animation works, but wouldn't someone be paid more than 35 bucks for one second of rough animation??

Btw—
When I talk about and critique both Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, I say “writers” or “creative heads” and not just “Vivziepop” because I don’t know what the HB writers room looks like. Writing is often a group effort with a head writer credited—I know that Vivienne is usually the head writer and has creative control, but because I still don’t know what the writing situation is like or how collaborative the writing room for HB and HH is, I don’t want to contribute ALL of the writing to Vivienne alone, especially since Brandon Rogers and Adam Neylan are also head writers.
In general I’ve also noticed in general that despite both HB and HH being big projects with a lot of really, really talented and creative musicians, animators, and artists working on them, most people tend to talk about them as being created solely by Vivziepop. (More below cut)
I think acting like Vivzie does everything is a huge disservice to all the people who contribute to the show.
It’s gotten to the point where, sometimes, if you search a song from HB it will usually have VP listed as the creator/composer and not the person who actually wrote the song.
This is especially prevalent on Genius. Thankfully, you CAN find the correct credit given to the musical artists on the series albums—but they are still listed under “Vivziepop” instead of something like “Cast of Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel”. I know this is probably done because she is the creator of the shows, but it’s weird to me because, to my knowledge, she isn’t a composer and doesn’t write any music for the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luckily, Sam does seem to have his own album as well, but Vivzie is still on there? Like maybe I’m wrong but if she also composes music why is she never credited in the show?
Tumblr media
(Also please don’t try to twist what I’m saying into “Vivziepop isn’t crediting her musicians at all on Genius!! I don’t know how Genius works or who sets up artist’s music and lyric information. I highly doubt it was Vivziepop or anyone on the creative teams for HB and HH)
I’ve also noticed that there are times where, when I talk about HB’s writing, people will bring up Vivziepop in their replies when I never named or mentioned her in my original post. Sometimes I’ll even be talking about an episode that she didn’t even write.
Again, I understand she’s the creator and lead of both shows—but because I have literally no way of knowing how all these writing decisions are made, and b/c VP doesn’t even write every episode, I’m not going to ascribe every single writing choice I don’t like or disagree with to her alone.
I recognize that she is the creative head, but I’m still not comfortable with acting if she alone is making Hazbin and Helluva Boss alone.
(I know that there is also an interview where she stated A24 let her have complete creative control. Again, that could be true, but we still don’t know enough about how collaborative the process was. Still doesn’t mean I’ll hold back with any critiques once the show comes out. But yeah.)

I watched Sarcastic Chorus’s video on if “Unhappy Campers” fixed Millie or not, and I really liked it, because it actually brought up the giant elephant in the room that the fandom won’t acknowledge. While this episode certainly does have Millie in it and we actually get to see her vulnerable about herself for once, she still was attached to Moxxie, and at the end of the day, he was the one who got more focus, with the episodes plot being more about him and his journey.
It was Moxxie who was put in charge of the investigation and planned for him and Millie to dress up as brother and sister to eliminate suspects. It was Moxxie who wanted to show his worth to Blitz in that he could handle a job. It was Moxxie who tried to bond with the kids but ended up being made fun of and making him insecure. It was Moxxie who ended up getting jealous at Millie for all the fame but couldn’t snag the attention no matter how he tried, and also couldn’t find the suspect. It was Moxxie who ended up snapping at her, but needed to realize in the end that he was a being a dick. It was Moxxie who had the character focus and growth to change his actions at the end of the episode.
—-
Millie for the most part, did what she always did, stood by at Moxxie’s side and supported him. She may have finally got a song, but most of it was fluff and just animation eye candy, showing off her skills, something the audience already knew she was good at. I don’t think fans realize this, but the argument scene she has with Moxxie is legit the ONLY scene in the entire episode where she’s in the spotlight that actually has to do with her character, because the rest was focused on Moxxie at the front. Not that there’s something entirely wrong with that, but it is the bare minimum, especially since what fans want is her to be purely the focus and not just trotting along with another character.
Her feeling happy for once that others aren’t screaming in agony at her is one thing, it could actually make sense and I wouldn’t find it hard to believe, however as everyone else keeps saying, her randomly spewing about how she finally feels like she’s important and “something to be proud of” makes no sense within the narrative, because Millie has always been a strong killing machine, painted as a really good assassin with her family, Blitz, AND Moxxie praising her. She legit has no reason to feel like she isn’t important or something to not be proud of, because she’s always been portrayed as really strong, saving Moxxie millions of times and helping the IMP gang out. And for all the audience has seen and knows, she’s very happy go lucky and loves her job, her co workers, and her family, so this small bit of character exploration feels half assed, unearned, and not thought through.
__
Finally, the most funny thing about this episode is that Moxxie needs to learn to let Millie shine since she always supports him, and yet the writers struggle with that themselves. Even when Millie finally does have her “big moment” that she was talking about, it’s just an anime montage of her doing stunts and playing the guitar, while the ACTUAL plot of Moxxie trying to kill the target and fighting Barbie is going on at the front, and even ends with the target dying before cutting back to hell later. Millie doesn’t even get any lines, how nice would it have been to see more…like what if she felt bad for her fans since she’s never coming back, or what if she looks through the pictures of her phone of the camp friends she made and wishes she still had that? Feeling sentimental? For Pete’s sake, you’d think after spewing about how much she feels like she isn’t valued, Blitz and Moxxie would confront her in the end and we’d have some heart felt scene of them reassuring her they care and her deciding to be more open. We get none of that, it’s not only wrapped up so quickly, but ends with Moxxie himself, getting the credit from Blitz he wanted, only to end on an unfunny joke of Blitz calling him a disgrace before the credits roll, so we legit close out on Moxxie and Blitz instead of Millie herself.
Putting the bad writing aside, “Unhappy Campers” definitely didn’t fix Millie’s lack of depth and focus, but I would say it’s a small start, wether the writing is dog shit or not, and wether we had to wait this damn long for crumbs or not. At the end of the day, this episode in my opinion opens more of a door to more potential on actually fleshing Millie out….but I do have my doubts, as not only do we have to wait until season 3 for Millie to get the focus again, but Viv and Adam really do make it clear that they have no idea on how to flesh Millie out without attaching her to Moxxie, since the upcoming ghost demon episode has her trying to off herself because she feels like she’s holding him back and a bad wife. I’d say I hope she gets more in the future, but I’m done believing in Viv and Adam. For Millie to work, I feel like she just needs new writers man, cause these writers clearly don’t care for her enough to put the work in and flesh her out and focus on her, bc they suffer from biased favoritism regarding the other characters. Millie will always deserve better and I honestly don’t think it’ll get better for her from here on out. Someone take the rights for her out of Viv and Adam’s grasp and give her the attention and development she deserves lol.

I feel like Spindlehorse can't separate Helluva as a product from themselves as people. Same shit the fandom does.
Yeah that's actually what's happening. Now its understandable that a creator would be attached to their product/project in some ways because after all they made it can be seen as an artistic reflection of themselves and what they want the world to see. But there comes a point where you have to separate yourself from your property especially if it becomes mainstream for legal, professional and pr reasons. That is not seen with Viv and she includes too much of herself (good or bad) into her shows.
When looking at the core aspect of helluva boss the comedy, Viv tries to implement a lot of what she finds personally funny but... lets just say her humor is problematic in some ways or just down right unfunny. And this is very bold of her to do because she's putting what she finds personally funny which thinking in a greater scale is bad to do because everyones humor is subjective. Another thing to note is that her humor is in general very crass "edgy" and immature actually so dick jokes, SA "jokes", ableis "jokes" are all over her show and since this is what she finds personally funny, in our modern era that is a problem because many don't find this sort of humor funny in any way.
The main aspect of helluva boss fails. Viv and whoever she associates with put too much of themselves personally in helluva boss. Be it the humor they find funny or life experiences. And doing this causes issues because as seen by the audience at large (not talking about her bootlicking fanbase) they simply don't find that sort of humor funny or relate to whatever life experiences they insert in helluva boss. Then Viv and co get offended/or angry at the backlash their humor etc receives and proceeds to complain on twitter because this is their personal humor/experiences is being criticised.
Saw a few examples:
This was that horse joke in So2 ep1. It wasn't funny at all well to me at least, was informative but not funny and it was an actual thing that happened to Sam who is Viv's best friend/spindlehorse staff member. This "joke" had to be explained on twitter cos nobody got it, its an inside joke/life experience thrown in the episode that didn't land and now Sam had to explain it.
Tumblr media
And this is a big one, the infamous dildos in the wall joke. Since the episode was written by Adam Neylan we thought it was his joke he made and a lot of people didn't find it funny because it was a stupid dick joke and where the joke happened was were Moxxie was physically abused by his father then the next scene had the dildos popping out the walls, complete tonal whiplash and was insensitive. Why I bring this up because it was actually Viv who added the dildo joke: this is highlights from the Helluva boss watch party.
Tumblr media
And then she proceeded to go on twitter liking and retweeting any tweet of someone who found it funny when many didn't to I don't know comfort herself, maybe boost her ego. Yeah adding your personal taste in humor can backfire.
Tumblr media
On the hivemind fandom, its like minded people in it and she cultivated this fandom over many years so Viv and her fandom are in the same boat together, nothing much to say there.
So yeah in short, spindlehorse and Viv add too much of themselves in helluva boss and it backfires because its not funny, relatable, problematic etc. Some separation between creator and product is key to avoid a lot of this as mentioned, getting too personal with your product especially if its released to a wider audience can save you a lot of hurt and backlash if what you're adding personally of yourself is problematic etc but you don't see it as such.
Sorry for such a long post ╭( ๐_๐)╮ I threw myself this morning into doing a lot of law past exam papers so my writing off the wall.

One of the newest reviews mentioned Adam specifically being a shithead towards them. Review # 578 "Back in January when all the story boards got leaked i was put at the forefront of the blame despite having nothing to do with any of it. For weeks i was shunned from my team and supervisors. Every day i was berated and called viscous slurs just for being suspected of leaking them. The worst offender of them all was Adam Neylan who went after me for weeks constantly putting me down because of the colour of my skin. I hated waking up and realising i had another day of dealing with all this until one day i broke and couldn't handle it anymore. Avoid this company at all costs." That interested me, because I don't know alot about Adam. But...in addition to the review......earlier I'd hunted down the source for myself of Vivzie's house price when that was being talked about and...there was other bonus information......the source noted Adam as a "potential occupant"......of Vivzie's fuckin million dollar ass house......very interesting. (( Sorry for not sourceing the latter, I don't want to encourage doxxing/IRL harrassment...even if Vivzie/Adam is a pos.))
What the actual fuck is going on over at Spindlehorse?
(Also, no apologies needed. We don't need to be sharing locations of peoples' houses, even if they are shit pieces.)

hey can you verify any of the claims against viv here?
I know what you're referring to, since you reblogged one of my posts with that "information". Which, btw, pls do not do that again. I'd rather not have that toxic crap attached to any of my posts.
The thing you sent was talking about Erin Frost and I've spoken extensively about her. Unfortunately, Erin's Twitter no longer exists and some of my posts are no longer accessible. So, I'm just trying to get what I can. I'll leave links to posts in no particular order:
Erin calling herself mentally unstable: 1, 2
Erin outting others who did not want to be in Vivzie drama (images and links): 1, 2, and image:

Erin getting upset over Sallie being trans. She also was disgusted that Sallie was being "sexualized", even though Morgana works on OF (correct me if I'm wrong) and have done sexual cosplay. Plus, she had a hand in designing Sallie May: Link
Erin getting upset at being overworked, despite being reprimanded for taking on work and causing delays:
Excerpt from a deleted tweet from Erin,

She also talked to Adam Neylan about leaving Spindle and spoke positively. So, it wasn't like she was fired:

Vivzie wasn't blacklisting people nor not allowing them to work anywhere else:

(My reply could've been better, I admit)
I wish I could give more info, but like I said, a lot of it is scattered or erased at this point. Hopefully, this gives a better idea, however, about the whole situation. Plus, my eyes were getting tired from squinting and scanning
