• Review: A Kingdom of Stars & Shadows + A Kingdom of Blood & Betrayal •

If you’re in the mood for completely addicting fantasy romance, look no further than the Stars and Shadows books by Holly Renee.

The story follows Adara, a starblessed mortal whose mother arranged her marriage to Gavril, the fae prince, and whose blood everyone believes holds the key to the fae triumphing over the vampires. Though Adara has accepted her fate, she’s bitter about it and wants her life to still happen on her terms as much as possible – and when she meets Evren, a commander of the fae army and her betrothed’s half brother, her life takes a very unexpected turn.

These books are so fast-paced, and the chemistry between Evren and Adara will basically scorch your fingers when you turn the page. The plot will keep you on your toes, the dialogue will delight you (and Evren will absolutely make you blush), and you’ll likely start cursing me at the end of book two – because the third one doesn’t come out until March 2023.

At least we can impatiently wait for it together?

I received an ARC from The Smuthood for an honest (and spoiler free) review. . This has been my favorite book I've read this year. The whole concept of the Starblessed, the magic system, the kingdoms at war - it was all so interesting and I want to know more. But the romance? THE ROMANCE?! So good, so steamy, and so much dirty talk. I was captivated by the story right away but the romance is what made this feel truly magical. That cliffhanger though? I need more, I can't wait to read book 2.

Hmmmm so … can we talk about the vampires in this book because… idk it just seems / feels so random and I didn’t expect it if I’m honest.

I mean I don’t know exactly what I expected but with the title of this and everything I think I assumed it would be just fae or elven-esq.

I don’t know if I like it or what to make of it yet either, I mean they mentioned ‘blood drinking’ pretty damn quickly so it’s gonna happen … like it will be a point in this book so … I mean I’ll usually read anything, and I mean ANYTHING that has vampires so I’m not throwing in the towel I just … yeah … I don’t know about it right now I guess.

Let’s see what happens …. Yikes !!!!🫣🤔

Speaking of SW & Grishaverse, I think that Padme and Genya would definitely get along well and form a stable relationship/bond.

Anakin and Zoya are 100% frenemys w/rivals-vibes, their interactions would be funny as hell bc of the aggression and banter and stubbornness.

Also, my weird OTP (friends kind of way) is Inej and Ahsoka (especially teenage Ahsoka). Like I cannot explain it, but I feel that they would be great friends (maybe w/ some trauma bonding in the mix).

But what would be also pure comedy is the meeting of Pirates (privateers): Hondo & Nikolai. There is absolutely nothing other than their (kind of) job that unites them, and their vastly different personalities would just ignite. Again, so much potential.

all of these are genuinely perfect but i HAD to take the opportunity to draw my childhood fave with my teenhood fave <3
