I had to make a BIG post going over everything that's got my brain whirring after watching the story trailer - it's all my speculation and personal opinion so don't take it as fact yada yada IT'S FUN SPECULATION TIME
(I'll put it under the cut bc this is gonna be a LONG one)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Miquella the kind spoke of the beginning. The seduction. And the betrayal. An affair from which Gold arose. And so too was Shadow born."
My interpretation of this scene is that we are seeing the creation of the Golden Order by Marika. She plucks grace from something dead and fleshy, and holds it up to the Greater Will, beckoning in her new age. It would make sense to me, considering the voiceover, that this is a dead god that has been betrayed by Marika so she can pursue her Order and claim power. It does like quite reminiscent of Kos from Bloodborne to me. The fleshiness of the corpse also reminds me of the godskins/snakeskin. However, I don't believe this is the Gloam Eyed Queen. From my understanding of the timeline (mainly thanks to @eldenringslut) the GEQ didn't come about until later on during Marika's reign - if we are seeing the creation of the GO, and my understanding of the timeline is correct, I don't think it would make sense for this to be the GEQ. I can't deny different aspects of this do allude to things related to her though - the dusky sky, the godskin-like flesh. But I almost think that would be too 'perfect' for it to fit together like that, especially with how much people want to know more about the GEQ, I think fromsoft would want to keep us in the dark and surprise us. Whatever we are seeing here, Gold and Shadow seemingly came about at the same time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get our first look at what appears to be Messmer's army. They appear to all wield spears which ties into Messmer's whole Impaler thing, along with the shot of the person(?) impaled on the steps. I wonder who these people were, if they had to stay in the Shadow Realm after the battle was done (if it is?). I find the design on the helmet interesting - at first glance I thought it could be a tree or roots, but actually doesn't it kind of remind you of the black tendrils that shoot out of Messmer's flame? I think it could be either, or both, or maybe it's a chicken and egg situation and they're related somehow... my first thought when the initial gameplay trailer came out was that the dark tendrils in Messmer's flame could be deathroot or something similar to that. Maybe I wasn't far off?
Tumblr media
We get our first shot of Messmer here. His pose pretty much solidifies to me that this is his army - this is the pose of a character commanding an army. It's so classic fantasy, the composition and everything, I love it. Messmer is awesome. I'm obsessed with the snake-like flames flying above the carnage.
"What followed was a war unseen. One that could never be put to song. A purge without Grace, or honour. The tyranny of Messmer's flame."
My take on this is that once Marika had won her battle/betrayed the God we see her pluck Grace from, she had her opponents banished and/or wiped out at the hands of Messmer. I have to say, it does surprise me that it seems Messmer was around and fully grown at the creation of Marika's Order. The implications there leave me with so many questions. Who is his other parent? Marika is Numen, and they seldom give birth. This is not an insignificant thing for her to have a child, especially if the theory of births being governed by the Erdtree/Golden Order is to be believed, and this must have came about before then. It would also go against the idea that Messmer is the full brother/secret triplet of Miquella and Malenia, considering that Miq + Mal were not born until Marika had left Godfrey for Radagon. I find that detail so intriguing... especially because I was so on board with the butterfly theories.
Tumblr media
No idea who this is, but they're cool and that definitely looks like the kind of weapon we'd be able to pick up. It just looks like a PVP weapon, know what I mean? Very reminiscent of Vyke as well imo, similar pose to the box art of him along with the billowing cape. This reminds me, I'm noticing an emphasis on hair in this trailer too - I never took much note of Marika's hair before but in this trailer there was a lot of emphasis put on how long it is, how similar it is to threads of Grace, and Miquella's hair too. It's making me think of the bible story of Samson but let me not go too off the rails
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we have some of the coolest shots in the trailer imo. This posits the Lion/Omens as enemies of Messmer to me - which to me supports the view that Messmer is aligned with Marika. The Lion/Omens always came off to me as if they were making a mockery of the GO - positioning themselves as enemies to Marika/the GO. We get another good look at his Flame, with the tendrils. They almost remind me of thorns actually. That final shot looks like a victory scene to me. It also really hammers home the Impaler thing. The man knows his brand!
Tumblr media
Then we pan up to see what hangs above this burned city - this 'shadow tree'. THIS IS MARIKA'S RUNE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think we are seeing the origins of her rune as part of the modern Elden Ring here - Grace/blessings dripping from the bough of this tree. I have to say given the imagery relating to motherhood on the run up to the DLC, the rune does look vaguely yonic, especially on the seals. I think references to motherhood are in this trailer too - Marika taking something from a fleshy orifice with a voiceover talking about seduction, I can't imagine that wasn't intentional. So far the main character we have seen is her child, after all. The whole story of Elden Ring revolves around Marika's children. I have a feeling Marika's relation to motherhood and childbearing is going to be a big theme in the DLC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I remember when the first gameplay trailer dropped, people theorised that this was Ranni's rune, and I was happy to believe that because of the similarities to Rennala's rune. But now I believe it's Miquella's rune, for several reasons, one being it reminds me of Malenia's rune, and they are twins after all. Although Rennala and Malenia's runes are oddly similar, it just makes more sense to me that it would be Miquella's, considering we are following in his footsteps. I think these rune spikes are going to be our DLC equivalents of sites of grace.
Tumblr media
"And so kindly Miquella would abandon everything. His golden flesh, his blinding strength..."
Abandoning his flesh is very reminiscent of Ranni... but why would he need to abandon his flesh? Perhaps after Mohg stole him away? Though I have to say, I'm warming up the idea that Mohg never actually had Miquella, he just thought he did. That might not make sense considering that body in Mohg's palace is how we get to the Shadow Lands, but I don't know, something about it doesn't sit quite right with me for some reason. The line 'his blinding strength' is a bit odd. I can't take credit for this next idea, I saw it on twitter, but someone suggested that this is referencing him potentially abandoning Malenia - his strength, his blade. For Miquella to abandon Malenia though, it doesn't exactly align with what we know of his character. This is the person that turned his back on the GO because it could do nothing for Malenia's sickness. He'd need a really good reason to do that to her. Maybe it was his only option? I'm so intrigued about why Miquella is even in the Shadow Lands to begin with. What are his motivations? Perhaps it's something to do with his proclivity to want to welcome all, especially those outside of Grace, I suppose those in the shadow lands fall under that mantle.
Tumblr media
"Even his fate."
Now THIS is super interesting - our first look at St. Trina! In her usual purple - associated with sleep. It does also look like she's sleeping here, sinking... What on earth does it mean to say that Miquella abandoned his fate as we are shown an image of St. Trina? Was he meant to eventually become Trina fully? We don't know much about her, but we do know Trina is an aspect/alter-ego of some sort of Miquella. Considering his parents were one in the same body, it's not a stretch to assume this could be the same case here. But in Marika/Radagon's case, it doesn't seem completely intentional - with the Ring shattering, I always got the impression they each fought to be in control of their singular body. Perhaps Miquella/Trina worked together rather than against each other? The queer part of me can't help but think of some kind of allegory to transition and Miquella having to walk away from it for whatever reason... but I really don't know enough to figure anything out from this.
Tumblr media
I saw someone point out that this shot of Trina looks like Trina's lilies too, which is super cool (sorry I don't remember who that was).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"But we are not deterred. We choose to follow. Will you walk with us?"
I'm honestly surprised to see all these characters that we saw in the previous trailer just hanging out, I assumed they'd all be enemies of different factions. But here they look like allies, and from the voiceover they sound like it too, asking if we will join them. I think the voiceover is one of these NPCs. Seeing the fighting guy second on the left has got me super excited, what if he teaches us the hands-on combat we saw him do in the first trailer? I also think the crouching character on the right is the one we saw sleeping in the purple area (Trina?) from the last trailer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, these are my thoughts, I hope they resonate in one way or another. I can't wait to come back in a couple months and see how wrong I was <3 yayyy

could you do obey me boys with a professional volleyball player mc? 🤫 like they enter at RAD's volleyball team and are absolutely SLAYING o smth like that
A/n: Im making Mc hella op when it comes to volleyball. Mc for world domination 2023.
These are also play offs of the brother before I personally think it’s more entertaining. You’ll be of the boss of that though.!
Lucifer
It had only been a month since Mc had been ( abducted ) from their home.
It had been only a month and you’re already disobeying him.
Mc’s schedule was HOL-RAD-HOL.
As soon as that last bell rang MC was meant to go straight to HOL with the company of Mammon.
Yet, Lucifer found Mammon coming home alone and asked where MC was.
Turns out Mc had been paying off Mammon to drop them off at the gym for practice and pick them up before Lucifer came home.
He wondered where Mc got the nerve while he was on his way to the gym.
He busted open the gym door.
Only to see Mc diving into over the out of bounds line and hit the ball behind them and over the net and score a point.
( think that nishinoya scene from haikyu)
Mc was cheering with their team before feeling a familiar gaze on them.
“I see you’ve made yourself acquainted with the volleyball team.” His words were harsh and cold
Just as you were about to speak.
“ If you wanted to join extra curricular activities, you should’ve just asked instead of paying my brother off.”
He then explain how Diavolo wants Mc to get the full experience.
And for a while that was that.
Until, he’d come and watch Mc play.
When questioned about it later on he’d say.
“ I cant very have the exchange student injured due to this game”
He’d make sure Mc wasn’t hurt and if they were sore he’d offer some sort of concoction to help the pain.
Mammon
At first he wasn’t to sure about disobeying Lucifer rules. They were set in place an- Mc said 20 Grimm each day he covers for them?
He’s all on board.
At the start he didn’t even think Mc would get on the team.
Was he sorely mistaken.
He had just drop Mc off and didn’t want to go home right away.
He was walking around campus before finding himself back at the gymnasium.
He thought he’d pass some time by watching you fail.
Maybe if he recorded it, it could sell as a “ Big Time Fails of Devildom” ( I completely made this up)
He walked in and propped his camera up.
Mc was running up for the ball and spiked it over their opponents heads.
And that was game.
He was flabbergasted. How could a human be so good at volleyball and nonetheless beat demons?!????
He immediately pullled you away and was asking if you cheated.
“ Why or even How could I cheat?” Mc says wiping sweat off their forehead.
“The same way I cheat off Satan’s tests”
“Wait… don’t tell him that, but I’m totally posting this. I could make a fat buck off of this🤫.”
He would sit on the stands and watch as Mc destroyed the opposite team.
He’d always come up after just to ask you how did it feel to win?
He could feel the greed of your pact coming off of you.
He’d also see Lucifer there asking why the hell is he there saying he was there first🙄.
#JealousMammonisadream
Levi
He was just watching Deviltube before he saw that Mammon posted something.
Human wipes the floor with demon:NOT CLICKBATE 100% Real 👹😮‍💨🙀💯🔥
He knows Mammons stupidity know no bound so he decided to watch it.
And as the caption stated Mc did wipes the floor with those demons.
He immediately thought of a human anime he saw about volleyball.
He wondered if you saw the ball coming to you in slo-mo before making a move.
As soon as Mc came home he’d ask all kinds of questions about it.
When did Mc first start to play volleyball?
Do you actually enjoy it?
Is this a normie thing ?
Can he maybe come to watch you play?
Mammon would shut him down as he does but after another month he asked MC.
He had one class with Mc where he was the only brother there so that’s when he asked.
“Mc… do you think I could watch you play. “ his voice just above a whisper.
“Hm? Oh, Of course you Can. I actually have a game this Saturday you’re more than welcome to come!!! I hope to see you Leviathan😁.”
The smile was enough to make him pass out.
Satan was the one to catch him.
The image of you walking away after dating he could go was enough t to make him pass out again.
He came with so many snacks and drinks that weekend.
He also recorded and compared it to the anime he saw.
Satan
“Levi? Are you okay?”
“Mc…. Volleyball”
He watched as Levi passed out again.
Placing him on the table to try to figure out what he meant by that.
Come to think of it he did hear about an extremely good volleyball player this year.
It couldn’t be Mc right? Their only a human.
Theres no way a human could be that good…right?
He doesn’t use social media as much as his brother so he doesn’t know who it is exactly.
He knows that the volleyball team had practice Mon, Wen,Thru, and Friday.
He’d just have to wait till tomorrow to find out if it’s true.
The bell had just rang and he was on a mission.
On his way to the gym he bummed Into asmo but no time for distractions.
He saw Lucifer and Mammon on the benches. Bickering of course but he saw Mc returning the ball to their teammate and receive it back no problem.
Maybe Mc was the right person he was looking for.
His head followed the ball back and forth as he saw Mc grab the ball and put it away.
He didn’t say anything like his brother did.
He just examined you like an animal in its environment.
He was amused with the way you held your own.
Something about not needing help from your teammates got to him.
His cheeks were turning red.
He was going to come to you’re game on Saturday whether he asked you or not.
“Oooooo is a brother of mine blushing?”
Asmo
“By the way I didn’t appreciate how you ignored me in the halls :(.“
Satan simply rolled his eyes and walked towards the benches with his brothers.
“I heard about Mc’s volleyball abilities but never had time to come and see them” he said sitting down next to Satan.
He turned back to see his older brothers a couple of benched up from him.
He watched as you set the net up.
He made comments about Mc’s shorts saying something about how come they can wear shorts that short but he can’t.
Satan tried to explain the different between game uniform and nudity.
He didn’t see a difference. ( he’s so 😜)
When it Mc’s turn yo serve he doesn’t think much of it. Until.
BAMB
The sound of the ball hitting the other demons forearm made him cringe.
He knew the basics of volleyball but in no way was that sound apart of the game.
He shut his mouth as watched the game like an addict.
He wondered what was your next move cheering you on from the benches.
He already knew what products to give to you help with redness or sore muscles.
As soon as practice was over he ran over to Mc.
Telling them how scary the sound was and they should be more careful.
He wishes he came sooner.
He help Mc walk home due to sore legs much to Mammons protest.
He’d take care of you when you got home.
Beel
His practice was over before Mc’s and he was the only one who knew about their hidden talent.
He was in the kitchen when he heard the front door open. He saw mc wrapped around Asmo.
He assumed they overdid it at practice.
“Ooh little brother did you know Mc was on the volleyball team?!?? They are amazing!!! <3” he said placing Mc on a chair.
“ Of course I did, I practice with them.” Munch munch munch
The room went quiet.
The brothers all questioned him.
After getting confirmation from Mc.
“Beel how could you not tell us?!?! I mean Im your big brother:/“
“It’s not like you asked”
“ROTFFFF , you totally just got owned”
“Maybe It’s because you not his fav big bro like I am right beel 🤑”
“Belphie is my favorite.”
Satan and Lucifer try not to laugh and walk away.
In the distance you can hear a certain blonde laughing.
Eventually things die down and he asks you if you want to take an ice bath.
The two of you are a couple feet apart of your own container filled with ice talking about how practice was.
He supports Mc’s game choice and helps them with tips hes learned along the way.
He can’t make it to ever practice but he’s at every game cheer you on.
With Mc’s number on his cheek holding a sign.
Belphie
He was the day of the game but he didn’t even know if. The house was less noisy that usual.
He found the loud noises comforting and can’t sleep without them.
Annoyed, he looks around the house for his brothers.
He finds you Instead.
“Where are my brothers?”
He saw Mc is a uniform and was confused.
“Wait did beel have a game today?”
“No, it’s actually my game?…”
“Since when are you on the volleyball team?”
“Since ever?”
“Why didnt you tell me?”
His attitude made him seem like he wasn’t Into going to your games.
But turn out he was.
He knew how much this meant to you.
So he stood up the entire time. Not falling asleep once.
Once the game was over the brother all came to you but him.
Walking out the gym you saw him in your jersey.
He had left early to get you merch.
He apologized for not being there for the finally match.
He had bought the entire stand.
Hoodie, shirts, mugs.
Claiming his brothers would find good use in them.
He promised he be at ever game and asked Mc to sign the jersey he bought.
He wears the jersey to sleep every night.
It’s good luck he says.
A/n: Oh my lorddd this took forever. I am not going back to fix errors so plz don’t criticize me!!!
I hope you all enjoyed!!! ❤️

Pokemon Card of the Day #3030: Misdreavus (Neo Revelation)
Tumblr media
Misdreavus, at first, seemed a lot like the old Base Set Haunter, as it went for a 2-hit combo relying on Sleep. This one actually just got a KO on anything it hit, but it needed an extra Energy and the Sleep couldn't be from another source. This would have been awful if it wasn't for help for the idea coming in the very next set, and said Pokemon needing help to be able to do much, if any, damage to a decent variety of Pokemon. As it was, there was a better chance here than there was the first time there was a Sleep gimmick.
50 HP wasn't very good for a Basic Pokemon that didn't evolve. While not everything would KO it, It was still vulnerable to things like Dark Feraligatr on top of the normal big hitters like Magcargo. It even fell to a Steelix that had a heads flip, which was notable since Steelix was one of the things Misdreavus did well against for the standards of its deck. The Fighting Resistance provided a block to Tyrogue and helped against Giovanni's Machamp, while the Retreat Cost, at just 1, made it easy to switch back to a Dark Gengar or Cleffa when it was time to do so.
Night Eyes required a single Psychic Energy and put the Defending Pokemon to Sleep. This was the only way to make Perish Song work, as Sleep from elsewhere didn't count for that attack's effect. It did have a 50% chance of sticking to prevent the opponent from attacking, but only 25% to stick through 2 turns. The way this was even close to useful was if you had Dark Gengar on the Bench, forcing 2 flips each time. That was 56% to get Sleep there for 2 turns, and while it wasn't exactly reliable, it gave a decent chance for Misdreavus to do something more.
Perish Song needed 3 Psychic Energy, could only be used on a Sleeping Pokemon, and also only worked if you had just used Night Eyes on your last turn. If all of that was done, the Defending Pokemon was simply Knocked Out. It was not the most consistent thing in the world to say the least, but did have a role. Dark Gengar could struggle to do damage to a lot of things, including Steelix and any Psychic-resistant Pokemon like Murkrow, Umbreon, and Porygon2. Misdreavus at least gave a Dark Gengar deck some chance to break through, making certain match-ups winnable. They were still uphill battles though, with Switch, Warp Point, and Full Heal Energy all things to look out for.
Misdreavus was used simply because it was the most likely thing to take down Pokemon an otherwise very dangerous Pokemon, Dark Gengar, couldn't. Most decks with it only fit a single copy due to it only being useful in some match-ups, and sometimes it would just miss the mark anyway. You kind of had to have it as back-up for those times, and when it hit it just wiped powerful Pokemon with big set-ups off the board completely. The upside was enough to get it some use, and in the sense that it helped something quite scary, it was still a good enough card.

How to Horde
Horde Decks, or PvE EDH, is something I’ve had a good time playing with and I wanted to share my notes here!
The idea behind horde is 2+ survivors with a shared life total are battling against a horde deck, where all damage dealt to the horde mills that many cards from the top of the horde. The horde is allowed one or more reveals each turn. Consisting of token and nontoken cards, the horde reveals cards from the top of the deck until a nontoken card is revealed. That card is cast with infinite mana and all revealed tokens enter play. The horde’s creatures have haste and must attack every turn. Players win if they reduce the horde deck to 0!
Building the Horde
Start with a theme. Theme is the most important part of the deck. Horde mode arose during the zombie craze of the late 00’s. Traditionally a horde deck is 60 token cards and 40 nontoken cards with tokens at 2/2 with a few stronger 5/5 thrown in. Flavor is king when it comes to horde, so the first thing you’ll want to do is pick a theme that has a broad base of tokens. Phyrexian invasions, zombie hordes, onslaughts of beasts, killer robots, legions of soldiers, theres a lot of fun unifying themes to pick from.
The traditional horde token has 2 power 2 toughness, so if you use higher power tokens like 3/3 beasts consider adding more nontoken cards. You can make the horde harder with less nontoken cards (more tokens per reveal) or easier with more nontoken cards (less tokens per reveal). I like to find a diverse base of tokens with varying power and/or keywords, but I recommend to make at least 30 cards (half your token base) the same token.
Building a horde deck is a fascinating exercise bc mana cost and rarity are entirely irrelevant. Cards that are normally considered weak can blow out the game and cause a sudden and unhappy loss.
Tumblr media
Preventing your opponents from blocking for a full turn can be devastating. When building a horde you aren’t looking for complex card interaction like you would with a deck. You’re looking to build a series of challenges for the survivors to overcome. Much more like dm’ing a game of EDH than trying to win it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When packing removal be sure to “game-ify” the removal. For example I would play Ravnica at War in a horde with multicolor permanents at stake so the boardwipe impacts the horde as well, but a monocolor EDH deck could slip by. Board wipes can help even out a horde out of control or set the players back a few paces. Try to stay away from flat out boardwipes, try to give some kind of choice or interaction with it from the survivor’s side. You also want to avoid removal that forces the horde to make a choice. Tribute to the Wild is a great card for Horde impacting the survivors and taking off an artifact/enchant per player. If the horde does make a choice it should do so randomly, without affecting its own permanents if possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You should also be aware of how the rules work for direct damage on survivors. They share a life total, but are counted as individual opponents for the sake of direct damage. For example Red Dragon will deal 4 damage to the survivors per survivor. Even though its an uncommon it can deal 8-16 damage just by entering the field. Crackling Doom deals 2 damage to the survivors per survivor and they each have to make a sacrifice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can also add cards that help the survivors. Whenever the horde draws a card they are allowed to play it during the pre combat main phase. While Vision Skeins lets the horde draw and play two more cards that turn each survivor draws 2. Shah hits for 6 trample damage BUT if survivors let it stay out they’ll each draw 3 making more of a game out of this reveal. Enslaved Horror lets each survivor recur a creature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Be VERY wary of letting the horde steal, and do so carefully. The horde’s infinite mana can break the game and this often makes the horde makes choices which we want to avoid doing. For example Intellect Devourer lets the horde steal and play from hands but only whatever the players give it. To me this is reasonable. So if players give the horde a comet storm it will multitarget everything for infinite damage and the game will end. Speaking of, also be wary of X cost cards. The horde has infinite mana and will cast for the highest value of X. So Comet Storm is a bad add because it ends the game when revealed.
Playing the Horde
The horde is designed to play autonomously, so the player piloting the horde should be able to also play. I give the survivors 30 life +10 per player, though other people do 20 life per player. Decks that play more traditional mtg using combat to deal damage and win are ideal as some archetypes get messy with the format. If anyone plays mill I recommend on cards like Mind Grind that mill for lands to mill until a nontoken card is revealed instead of a land. If Poison is in the game I recommend milling a number of cards whenever the poison threshold is reached (anywhere 20-50 cards or half of whats left).
In EDH players will gain momentum the longer the game goes on and eventually will begin to overtake the horde. I recommend adding another reveal each time a damage threshold is met. I prefer to add a second reveal whenever the survivors deal 20+ damage to the horde deck and this has worked nicely. You can also do 15/30, two reveals after 15+ damage and three reveals after 30+ damage. This usually matches the power of the survivors and keeps the challenge going.
Adding Goodies
You may be tempted to add extra goodies like Background enchantments or war chests that give bonuses during the game. If you decide to make sure the horde works as intended first. Once you have the horde going then start adding extras. Its up to you how to award them. One angle I recommend is adding a flavorful emblem that causes each horde reveal. For example in a phyrexian invasion horde you could have Breach emblems that read “the horde reveals a nontoken card”. And each time a condition is met add another breach token adding another reveal making the game harder. You can also add emblems related to major characters for flavor. In a phyrexian invasion where incubator tokens are used you could make an Atraxa emblem that reads “at the end of your turn proliferate all permanents you control”.
And that’s my guide to horde! Pick a theme, 60 tokens, 40 nontokens, and go nuts with it. Remember this is for fun, you aren’t trying to murderize the survivors, and really lean into the flavor of your horde. If you’ve made any or will make one I’d love to see it!

Modern Horizons 3 - Commander Spoilers as of 5/9
Here's all the cool cards of MH3! This will include powerful cards that I like or dislike and cool cards that I like, even if they aren't very powerful. Also, I'm primarily an EDH player, so I'm not coming at this from a modern player's perspective. Anyways, without further ado, the commanders of MH3:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kudo, King among Bears.
For anyone who witnessed my rant on main that made me make this blog, you know my opinions. However, if you didn't see that rant just know it's a BS card. Too cheap (2 CMC? Really?) and too powerful. Combos way to well with Ayula, making anything you want to be a bear and removing any kind of creativity you could put in an Ayula deck. Now you just find big blocks of text and Kudo tells Ayula that no, actually, that was a bear not an Eldrazi. Kudo will also combo WAY to well with Elesh Norn Grand Cenobite, board wiping any creatures your opponents play if they can't put counters on them or banner effects as they enter the battlefield. Kudo also combos too well with other STAX and hatebear pieces for me to like him. It's a cool card in concept, but to powerful in my opinion.
Herigast, Erupting Nullkite.
Cool card! I love the concept of giving your stuff emerge, because emerge is a really cool mechanic! It does nothing if you sac a token, but if you get rid of a big mana piece you get a significant discount. It's a cost reduction mechanic that, on its own, is actually fair. That being said, I wish it had been in Rakdos rather than mono red, because it would've given more sacrifice synergies with cards like Mahad, Juri, Rakdos (OTJ version), and others. It would've also given access to al manner of graveyard shenanigans. But I still like the card, even if I don't agree with the colors it was printed in.
Phelia, Exuberant Shepard.
Not sure why it has flash tbh. Also didn't think we needed another mono white flicker commander, but here we are. It's a pretty fair card overall, maybe even weak. It only gets counters from cards that it flickered, not from any flickered card. As well, it doesn't have anything like trample or fist strike, so its harder to make this into a commander damage card. And then outside of commander I don't think it really does anything. Could be wrong about that though, so don't quote me on it.
Ajani, Nactal Pariah // Ajani, Nactal Avenger.
Pretty cool card and excellent flavor. He might be too powerful though. He's cheap and pretty easy to flip, and you can use his ultimate pretty fast. And that ultimate is BRUTAL. A near full wipe on turn 3 or 4 is quite the prospect to be facing down. And his +2 being a counter rather than a banner effecct until eot or end of next turn. Still though, its in Boros, so maybe it won;t be the most broken thing ever. Could be wrong about that though.
Personally, if I was desigining this Ajani, I would've made it a {2}{w} rather than {1}{w}, and had the token it creates be a legendary token with his brother's name that gives Ajani +1/+1, becuase that theming goes along well with the flavor text. His transform condition is perfect, it's right on theme, so no changes there. Then as far as his planeswalker side goes, make his +2 a +1 instead, have it be Cats you control get +1/+1 until eot. I think that balances out his ultimate and gives another player more time to respond. Then his 0 ability is also good, because it encourages the player to balance the amount of red and white in their deck.
Overall the four new commanders are getting a solid B from me. Herigast is dope. Kudo is too OP. Ajani needs a minor nerf and then he's a really cool card. Phelia just seems useless.

trektober day 12: meet cute or 3d chess
Chris didn’t know much about chess, but he knew a nervous Caitian when he saw one. The cadet’s tail lashed side to side as she glowered at the board, eyes darting over the levels.
Her opponent smiled coolly over steepled fingers, and didn’t glance away for a second. The Caitian cadet’s claws dug into the table. Chris would have felt bad for spying, but staring at his speech just got his heels bouncing and his fingers tapping. He had given dozens of post-flight debriefs, but somehow the prospect of presenting his piloting to a class of cadets who probably didn’t know port from starboard had him more jittery than anything.
“Ready to give up, M’Talla?” the calm cadet asked in a low, confident voice.
“Shut up, Chin-Riley.” M’Talla caught Chris’s eye. “What are you looking at?” she growled. Chris blinked, and her eyes widened when she took in his uniform. “Sir,” she sputtered, terrified.
Cadet Chin-Riley cast him a sidelong glance. Her smile disappeared at the interruption.
Chris waved off M’Talla’s abject horror and nodded at the board. “Got yourself in a tough situation there, Cadet.” M’Talla’s ears flattened to her head.
“Yes, sir,” she muttered glumly.
Chin-Riley’s eyebrow ticked up. “Do you play, sir?”
Not once in his life. Chris shrugged. “I know a move or two. Always good to have a few tricks up your sleeve.”
M’Talla drummed her claws on the table. Chin-Riley looked him up and down, and seemed vaguely irritated.
“I’m sure you do, sir.” Chris was ninety-three percent sure it was meant more as an insult that flirtation, but his interest piqued. His speech lay abandoned on his table.
“You might be surprised, Cadet.” He grinned as dazzlingly as he could manage, dimples on full display. Chin-Riley’s face didn’t so much as twitch, but when she spoke her voice was a tad higher pitched.
“Your move, M’Talla.” M’Talla glared, and after a long moment of re-examining the board, she nudged a piece forward. Chin-Riley grinned, looking almost as predatory as the Caitian.
“Checkmate.”
M’Talla huffed, but she didn’t look surprised. She still slouched back in her chair, arms crossed, and pouted as Chin-Riley cleaned up the boards.
“Tough luck, Cadet,” Chris said sympathetically. Chin-Riley gave him a calculating look.
“Would you like to play, sir?” she asked pointedly, and Chris sensed that the real question was if not, then why are you still talking?
Chris tapped his PADD. “No, thank you, I have somewhere to be.” Chin-Riley arched an eyebrow, fingers woven together on the table. The board was reset for a new game.
“So do we, unless you think you can beat him in ten minutes,” M’Talla said the second part in an undertone, but Chris still bit back a chuckle in response. He had no doubt Chin-Riley would wipe the floor with him.
M’Talla wished him a good day and gathered her belongings, and Chin-Riley followed suit. She sent Chris a few glances, but he busied himself with his PADD.
Satchel over her shoulder, Chin-Riley rounded her table and paused next to Chris’s. “I’d be interested in seeing those tricks sometime, sir.”
Chris’s eyes widened. Chin-Riley strode away, dark curtain of hair swishing behind her, but Chris could have sworn he caught a glimpse of a smirk.

Inscryption campaign ideas:
The Wastes:
"The heat of the day worsens as your feet sink into dry, thirsty earth. You behold the infinite sun-baked expanses of: The Wastes."
New cards:
Lioness: Defined as 5 health, 3 attack, and 4 blood, with the "Pride" sigil (For every Pride card on the board, add 1 health and 1 attack to each Pride card). "Lionesses are the true engine of any pride."
Lion King: Defined as 5 health, 2 attack, and 4 blood, with the Pride and Leader sigils. "A self-appointed leader, though he has his perks."
Hyena (Canine tribe): Defined as 1 health, One Half Bones attack (attack would be defined as half count of all the bone tokens you have), and 3 bones, and Scavenger (Kaycee's Mod; if a Scavenger card is alive on your side of the board, fallen opponent cards supply bones as well) sigil. "Ah, the cackling Hyena. He laughs, as he lusts for carnage."
Elephant (Hooved tribe): Defined as 5 health, 3 attack, 6 bones, and the "Musth" sigil (If more than one Musth card is on the board, every Musth card loses the Musth sigil and gains Rampager. The cards revert back to normal after the battle). "No beast is larger, and no beast is more impressive. The Elephant is a force of nature."
A campaign that takes place in the desert. It's basically hard mode, as there are barely any campfires, woodcarvers, mycologists, or item bags. It's just tons of battles back to back, with the only breaks being sacrificial altars and cave encounters. However midway through the map, there is an oasis...
"Not a mirage, thank whatever deity you worship. You sink to your knees and shovel water to your dying mouth before rising to your feet again."
Here is a 3-by-3 grid of nonstop helpful areas in which you can go in any way as long as you move forward. There's a column of unattended campfires, a column of mycologists, and a column of woodcarvers. With this design, you could grab one of each, go down all three of the same in a row, or otherwise mix and match as you see fit.
"Stuffed full of the oasis' boons, you now move onward to brave the heat and starvation once more."
Back to the miserable nonstop battles and sacrifices. It's strange though, you'll come across battles with wayside pieces of "Steel Wreckage" (defined as 3 health, 0 atk, Mighty Leap) that explode and kill all adjacent units when broken. This mystery appears unsolvable. That is... until you reach the boss.
"The crumbled and smoking corpse of a metal airborne beast lay before you. What seems to be the cadaver of a woman stands up at the sight of you and shambles forth, demanding food water."
The Aviator:
Leshy dawns an aviator helmet and a leathery mask.
"All she can repeat is the words: 'Water... I beg...' from her parched throat."
Specializing in flying creatures, her first wave is composed of Turkey Vultures and Sparrows, although she will also throw in Cockroaches and Porcupines to make things harder for your ground control. But when you beat this first phase...
"The machine sputters and shrieks as a few wayside shots from your creatures and hers take its toll. With a fiery crescendo, metal shrapnel flies everywhere."
All of her units are wiped out, and her front row is replaced entirely by Steel Wreckage. This of course means that you need to destroy the wreckage to move on... meaning that your own creatures will be wiped out. Even worse? This means that the board is wiped clean. So when she sends in her two Gecks now and her Lammergeier a turn later, you better be ready to play SERIOUS defense.
"As The Aviator collapses, her mangled corpse bleeding from her many steel wounds, you move on from the battlefield that nourishes the scorched earth."
The Thicket:
"A grove of gargantuan trees and oppressive foliage stretches before you. With no way around it, you must go through: The Thicket."
New cards:
Orang-Utan: Defined as 3 health, 2 attack, one blood, and the Mighty Leap and the "Climber" sigil (Any Climber card can only be placed on an obstacle card such as a Dam or Grand Elm, although their damage acts like an Airborne card's). "The enigmatic man of the jungle. The way he climbs reminds one of a bird in flight."
Spider Monkey: Defined as 1 health, 1 attack, and the Mighty Leap and Climber sigils. "Though it has half the legs, the spry Spider Monkey is just as nimble as its arachnid counterpart."
Gorilla: Defined as 4 health, 2 attack, and the Mighty Leap and Climber sigils. "A gargantuan beast with the power of ten men."
A campaign deep within a rain forest. You'll ask "What's so different between a normal forest and a jungle in this game?" and I answer... The plantlife.
"Unlike the forests with space to bob and weave trees as you've seen in the past, The Thicket has no such perks. The strangling greenery is so thick that nothing can cut through it all."
This is the only biome that the Thicket card appears. It's defined as null (impossible to destroy) health and zero damage. They randomly intersperse among normal Great Firs that you'll find, and there's one guaranteed in every battle you have. Basically, they're vile lane restrictions that can easily turn the tide of battle. However they don't have Mighty Leap like other trees, meaning that an Airborne card could easily exploit the card, giving you or... your opponent a defining edge.
Deeper in the map you go, more Thickets appear, until... The Boss.
"The fearsome noise of steel rending plant flesh rings like a scythe reaping souls. Abruptly from the greenery ahead slices through a man garbed for stealth. His eyes narrow as he sees you."
The Huntsman:
Leshy dons a pith helmet, and a mask with a monocle and brush mustache.
"You've got quite the collection... Give me a few of the buggers, will you?"
Definitely a late game boss, he is kitted out with all sorts of huntable beasts. But for this first phase, you have more pressing worries: Your entire lane is covered in Thicket, save for one space.
This unfortunately leaves your setup rather limited. As he fills his spaces with Squirrels, Raccoons, and Oppossums, you start to think you're safe as long as you keep your one space occupied.
"Rrggh, damn Thickets! I must cut it down..."
He pulls a Machete from his side and CUTS down a Thicket on your side, leaving the undefended space open for his Raccoon or Oppossum to attack before you even have a chance to place a card down on it.
As you scramble to keep up with his sudden advantage, he keeps chopping down the Thickets every turn until your spaces are empty. If you can find a way to make up for how he gained his advantage, you'll find that he's a rather quick first phase. Quick FIRST phase...
"I was hoping to bring these back home for skinning, but I suppose I'll use them here."
He then begins placing Grizzlies, Moose Bucks, and Bloodhounds down. After the prep you were allowed in the first half, you'd assume yourself safe from his assault. You'd be wrong.
"I can't lose so easily, that's why I brought Old Dodger."
He replaces his Machete with his Hunting Rifle. He kills your card with the highest health.
"This one will make an excellent stew."
As he reloads, you're given two turns of normal combat before he fires again, killing your card with the highest attack.
"And this one will look perfect on my wall."
Another two turns, more firing. It keeps going until you defeat him.
"As you finally get in close, you turn The Huntsman's own tools back on him. Leaving him wounded and defenseless to the beasts that lurk deep in The Thickets, you carry on."
The Reef:
"An expansive bay stretches before you, with low tide showing a trail of coral that leads from one shore to the other. With no choice to go around when a large bluff rises on one side and the deep blue sea sinks on the other, you find yourself hurrying through: The Reef."
New Cards:
Garden Eel (Fish tribe, which now also includes Chum Bucket, Great White, and Amalgam cards): Defined as 1 health, 0 attack, and the Burrower and Fecundity sigils. "The pathetic Garden Eel. Even I can't find a use in it."
Moray (Fish tribe): Defined as 2 health, 4 attack, 2 blood, and the Waterborne and Guardian sigils. "The vile and vicious Moray, a creature that thrives in red waters."
Barnacle (Fish tribe): Defined as 4 health, 1 attack, 1 bone, and the "Hiding Place" sigil (When a Hiding Place card is unopposed, their health and attack swap. When the space opposing them is filled, the health and attack swap back again). "The underestimated Barnacle. Take care not to make the same mistakes."
Petrel (Avian tribe): Defined as 2 health, 1 attack, 1 blood, and the Airborne and "Fisher" sigils (Fisher Cards attack Waterborne cards, even if they're under the water. Fisher overrides Airborne when the opposing card is Waterborne.) "Ah, the stormy Petrel. Their majesty is only rivaled by their resilience."
Octopus (Fish tribe): Defined as 3 health, 1 attack, 2 blood, and the Waterborne and Trifurcated Strike sigils. "An intelligent creature with slippery skin and a devious mind."
A campaign that takes place at low tide in a bay rife with coral, meaning that the murky waters work as a pathway in some spots and a deathtrap in others. The gimmick for this area is not that there are any new places to stop, or even any hazardous field cards, but Ambushes. Some "non-combat" nodes such as Sacrificial Stones and Fur Traders may instead prove to be a trap!
"One misplaced step from the unseen trail in the water and you find yourself falling into a pit of murky darkness, with unruly beasts waiting to snap you up."
Yes, sometimes after you leave a node that isn't combat, you'll come into a surprise attack against entirely Waterborne opponents!! Either you fight through these nails-hard battles or... you sacrifice a card of your own to distract the predators. (And if you're lucky, a pelt may rise to the surface...)
"Though tragedy stabs through your heart worse than any dagger, you must take what keepsake of your ally you can before moving on."
Eventually you reach the boss.
"With the opposite shore within view and sun dipping low, you feel the waters slowly rise. You hurry along, but are interrupted as a jet black creature rises from the depths, fresh water shining off of their latex skin. Holding a dagger in one hand and an unfortunate creature's shell in the other, they stand before you."
The Diver:
Leshy dons a pearl diver's mask and the air-tight headcap.
The first phase is simple, with them using several Garden Eels, and the only real threat being their Octopus. However, upon defeat...
"The waters have risen far too high. As the battlefield disappears beneath the waves, the Diver seems to vanish."
Not only do all of your cards and all of Leshy's cards become Waterborne, but the Diver also becomes a card themselves (defined as 3 health, 2 attack, Waterborne, Guardian, Burrower, and Leader sigils, basically a Deathcard but with no cost since they are on the board immediately.)
This second phase is basically a damage bonanza, both sides endeavoring to out-damage the other side (unless you have a few Petrels or other cards with the Fisher sigil, in which case it's a game of memory.) Assuming you survive...
"Rising from the waters victorious and with minimal casualties, you leave the bay tinted scarlet as you dry in the pale moonlight."
The Caverns:
"The ground below you gives way as you fall down into a patch of fungi. High stone walls meet your gaze wherever you look, with the only ways forward choked by halls of darkness and echoey rock. You find yourself in: The Caverns."
New Cards:
Cave Isopod (Insect tribe): Defined as 3 health, 1 attack, 1 bone and the Armored sigil. "Groveling in the muck and mushrooms, one would say it's a stone come to life."
Stone Viper (Reptile tribe): Defined as 2 health, 2 attack, 2 blood, and the Bifurcated Strike and Climber sigil. "A beast of twos. Two health, two attack, and two fangs to bite with."
Blind Rat: Defined as 2 health, 1 attack, and the "Blind" sigil (Blind cards are unbothered by scent, as smells are all they know.) "A blind creature with little in the way of perks."
Cavesquirrel (Squirrel tribe): Defined as 3 health, 3 attack, and 2 blood, with the Hefty sigil. "A remarkable artifact of ancient times. Brutish and violent compared to their modern relatives."
Lone Raptor (Reptile tribe): Defined as 2 health, 3 attack, and 3 blood, with the Double Strike and Sprinter sigils. "A lonely creature of a bygone era. It lashes out in loneliness."
Frozen Beast?: Defined as 10 health, 0 attack, 1 blood, and the Frozen Away sigil. (If finally broken, unfreezes into a Mammoth card). "I'm not sure what's inside this block, but it must be huge."
Mammoth (Hooved tribe): Defined as 5 health, 3 attack, 8 bones, with the Rampager and Bifurcated Strike sigils. "A truly gargantuan beast that is alarmed after thousands of years of freezing cold."
The Caverns are a cave system beneath the earth. The Mycologist and campfires are more common here where cave encounters and woodcarvers are less common. The main gimmick, however, is that you can only see one space ahead when you're on the map. Whereas in most campaigns you can see ahead and plan based on what you need and what lies ahead, The Caverns are a constant game of risk. What is after this battle? Will I finally find a Mycologist for my two Cavesquirrels? I'm nervous, if I go into this Trader, will there be a Totem Battle afterwards??
After a long, long journey through pitch black, you come across...
"You come across a vine-clung wall that reaches to the outside and hurry towards it. But before you make it, a scuttling figure tackles you and opens their massive eyes. You find yourself battling before you even realize it."
The Lonely "Hermit":
Leshy dons a pointed wizard's hat and his eyes widen.
"FINALLY, STIMULATION!!"
The "Hermit" is by far the most difficult battle, as they have no candles. Instead, they send way after wave of cave creatures, starting easy with Isopods and Bats, but getting increasingly harder until they release nothing but Lone Raptors.
You may ask, then, "How do I win?"
Well, The Lonely "Hermit" doesn't care if their scale tips over, and after their Lone Raptors and Urayulis send the scales tipping back your way, you start to wonder why and how you haven't lost either.
"STIMULATION!! MORE, MORE!!!"
What's going on? They rip into you, even when your row is empty, and they cheer and watch as you pick apart their side with your 25 25 Ouroboros. How are you supposed to win?
"STIM! STIM! STIM! I LOVE IT, GIVE ME MORE AND MORE AND MORE!!!!"
You watch as your Special and Squirrel/Bee decks fade away... Soon, you have no cards left.
"MORE! MOOOORE!!!"
Starvation sets in... to your side? Four Starvations place themselves on your side, all slowly, thoroughly cutting down the cards The Lonely "Hermit" has out.
"MOOORE!! MOOORE!!! MOOO- oh. I'm out of cards."
Starvation continues to cut into The Lonely "Hermit".
"This is... lame. I guess we're done? I'LL GO THEN!! BYE!!!!!"
You win the battle and Leshy, with some effort, removes his hat.
"I... I'm not sure what came over me. You- You saw nothing. Give me those Starvations, you're not keeping them."
You do
"Thank you. Ahem! As the hunched figure scuttles off back into the deep black halls, you climb to your freedom and escape The Caverns."
So uh... Yeah. Those were my ideas. I'm not sure what possessed me to say all this, but I'll probably never do it again.

Part 1 of 1, Sictoria And The Fourway Connection
"Oh are you fucking kidding me?" Victoria shouts again, the 5th time that night,
Simone snickered haughtily, dropping another blue disc to block the girls advance.
"Every single time!! Every single time!!" Grumbling under her breath as she slots in a red disc.
Staring explosively at her, with the expression of someone who had been losing all night.
"Ooh see now that.." she said in mock concern, "what!!!! What!!!! What is it!!" Victoria blasts back.
Wrenching another hearty laugh from Simone, in which she smoothly halts the poor girls attempt.
Blue meeting the red with a shallow click of plastic on plastic, you could almost feel the two sizzle.
And in turn Victorias own face burned red hot, veins were practically throbbing in her forehead.
"Settle down Victoria, it's not your fault you're bad at the game" she sniggered venomously.
"Oh you just wait I'm gonna fucking-" placing down a red disc with an over dramatic flourish.
And sitting proud, a painfully confident look on her sweaty face, "beat that Simmy!"
She held back her laughter, not wont to show off too hard, but enjoying the struggle of her friend.
Cheerily wiping the already quite tremulous look of joy on the girls face with a click
Blue disc sitting beside red, once again ending her advance, "you really have to pay-"
Simone began another snarky remark, before her opponent wordlessly placed down another disc.
Seemingly at a loss for words, she hadn't lost the anger, it still bubbled violently under her skin.
But something in her soul had been subdued by this repeated failure, "your turn" she wheezed.
A quiet reminder of who held the cards now, she had been too preoccupied giggling.
Placing down another blue disc, no obvious ways to block her, but she was confident.
By now the board was almost entirely full, they'd be at risk of a tie if one of them didn't win soon.
And to Simone, a tie is a win, anything but losing
"Your turn" Victoria muttered again, though, she thought it sounded different than before.
There was that beaten down inflection, except this time, it sounded more like a cover than..
"BAM! Take that!!" Victoria shouted, loud enough she was surprised the windows didn't rattle.
Ah well, it seems this is what she had been planning for, even Simone could admit she hadn't been able to see fully past her pretty poker face.
What she could see however, was the final move,
"Try to beat that you stupid-" the blue disc falling atop her red like a boulder to crush her flat.
The last piece in the game, the board was filled one hundred percent, the game was a tie.
Victoria sat there wide eyed, mouth agape in a silly expression Simone had to resist a giggle at.
It almost appeared as if she'd entered a catatonic state, pure shock spilling out from her.
"Hmm, well that makes.." Simone trailed off, adding a check mark next to her name.
On a big list (which had to be extended for her) detailing all the games she'd won,
And in turn Victoria had lost, you almost couldn't tell that she had any stake in the game when side by side with Simone's overwhelming lead.
"You ready for round 30?" She snorted, like to make any sudden movements would have the laugh burst out of her in an explosion of mirth.
Though her companion still sat frozen for quite some time, Simone momentarily considered checking on her, but as she opened her mouth-
"That's it!!" Victoria exclaimed, smacking the stupid thing off the table in a dramatic swipe.
Pieces of both colors scattered in the same piles across the floor, "ugh- HEY! Victoria! That is not-"
But the girl had already crawled away aggressively, without care for stepping on the fallen game.
She let her go without watching, waiting for the- "Uwagh!!" From Victoria, that would tell her she'd slipped over one of the newly strewn about pieces.
Where she laid motionless, not out of pain, though it did indeed hurt, but shame more than anything.
She gave a beat for her to recover from the shock, before smiling out a little "you alright?".
Victoria groaned muffled against the floor, "I, am, fine" the words punctuated exaggeratedly.
Like the floor itself was speaking rather than her.
Simone tried not to but couldn't push down the little snrk that escaped her nose.
"What, is, so, funny" even so she too had a twinge of humor in her wilted rebuttal.
"Nothing nothing" hands out in a gesture that said 'cool it pal' as she continued smirking slyly.
Victoria herself grinned stupidly, though quickly throwing that expression off when she sat up.
She wasn't gonna give her the satisfaction! Her knees winging sorely while she found balance.
Sitting up, much shorter than she had previously been, "well anyway that one was just a fluke-"
But her dusting off was interrupted by Simone bursting into laughter that sent her reeling.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" she apologized as tears of laughter streamed down her face, like a dam of hilarity had just burst inside Simone.
"What is so funny to you??" Victoria yelled over the cacophony, before glancing over at the mirror adjacent to the two.
A large, black, and perfectly printed on tread track was smack on her face.
Telling of the path Simone's little machine took, now transposed on her.
Framing her face like a godawful stain that even a tattoo artist would be hesitant to put on someone.
"Ah-" she glanced back to the spot she'd laid, a perfect circular mark was inset on the previously uniform track, a chalk outline of the crime against her poor face.
And lastly glancing back to Simone, "I- oh my-" before the duo burst into a fit of laughter that lasted until they were both red in the face, doubled over giggling.
They tried desperately to regain their composure, still hacking out stray cackles,
Sitting side by side one another, their shoulders jumping raucously with laughter.
"So, your machine, left a tread mark-" "right on the ground!" Simone finished for her, giggling wildly.
"And I just so happened to-" the bespectacled girl fell over backwards from her seated position, the sheer absurdity of the situation knocking her flat.
Victoria joined her, the two snickering and trying in vain to resume normal conversation.
Looking up at the ceiling together, "well.." nearly each word punctuated by a strained chuckle.
"Despite you being a tryhard loser-" "I am not!" Simone refuted, once again cutting her off.
"This was all just a warm up! In fact I think I'm ready for another 30 rounds if you are!"
She retorted defiantly, "oh yeah?" She sat up, eyebrows raised in a 'there's no way' expression.
"Oh yeah! Let's fucking go!" Hopping to her feet intensely, effectively dragging Simone up with her.
"Well someone's gonna have to pick up all of the pieces they threw on the floor then hm?" She slithered mischievously, "I- oh right.."
Her at first fired up demeanor, now damp with reality, "do I really-" but Simone's eyes said it all.
"Go on then Victoria, get started!" She teased idly, with Victoria grumbling softly under her breath.
Part 1 of 1 END! Aw Wasn't That A Cute Little Game Huh? Seems They Both Have A Competitive Side!

One Piece chapter 1094 review
Spoilers for the latest One Piece manga chapter follow.
Well that's an escalation I wasn't expecting to see for at least a few more chapters. It can't be emphasised enough how brisk the Egghead Pacing is compared to Wano. A problem for the crew like Bonney being stuck down below is raised in chapter 1092 and by just 1094 she's been rescued and is already being pulled into more important events. The breaks make it all feel like it's taking longer than it is, but this kind of thing was taking half a volume worth of one panel at a time updates to get done just a year and a half ago. The binge read of Egghead is going to so refreshing comparatively.
There's some great art for the Jump cover and colour spread this week. Can you imagine if this spread had come out during Wano though? I can only imagine the theories and headcanons and expectations that would have been raised from it.
The scene of the Pacifistas turning on the Marines actually manages to be pretty intense. Oda's done a good job of not letting these guys feel like fodder, so I have no problem believing that the ability to control them equals control of the battlefield. It would be easy for the power scale of have slipped enough that you wonder how especially first gen Pacifistas were an effective countermeasure against the Whitebeard Pirates at Marineford (and the ease with which Luffy, Zoro and Sanji wiped out two of them for the Sabaody reunion edged on this) but instead they remain consistently threatening as an army more than a decade on.
Sanji sensing Bonney and Vegapunk questioning the scientific validity of his radar is definitely one of the better jokes the series has made of his womanising nature.
I'm still not expecting a full set of fights for these vice admirals, but glimpsing their different Devil Fruit powers and personalities in scenes like Bonney's one here helps make the scale of the world feel bigger. Oda doesn't let his characters get away with being nobodies.
And then it happens. I was expecting a slow arrival for Saturn, escorted carefully onto a secured part of the island with some kind of honourguard, not for him to teleport abruptly into the middle of the action with crazy magic powers. And he kills so casually in his bizarre yet intimidating transformed state. I had reservations about the Five Elders being combatants instead of just politicians, but if this is the kind of appearance and entrance we can expect from them all, then I'm on board. I don't even know what kind of being to say he even is yet. I've seen some possibilities thrown around that seem compelling after googling the names, but after Nika, there's a precedent for important Zoans being based on in-universe deities with whatever powers Oda needs them to have.
Meanwhile Luffy finally lands a solid hit on Borsalino. It's definitely not the end of the fight though, not by a long shot, even if Borsalino takes a chapter or two to shake off the hit and make it back from where he's been thrown. And that's terrifying, actually. I was expecting Saturn's arrival to wait until Borsalino was mostly or totally beat, maybe forcing an exhausted Luffy into a retreat. Now we've got a seemingly haki-spent Luffy with two high level opponents ready to fight him. He could barely keep Borsalino from breaking off to complete his Vegapunk assassination mission when it was one on one. We haven't seen enough to for sure if there was any hope of taking them both on together in a straight fight (I doubt it) but when the win condition is more complicated, the odds start to seem impossible.
Finally, we get another little hint at what's coming in Kuma's flashback, positining the Elders, or at least Saturn, as the guilty party behind Kuma's mind being wiped. This offers another compelling reason Kuma might have searched through Marie Geoise and abruptly left, if it's personal between him and Saturn. His arrival on Egghead with a will to fight could end up being the thing that makes it possible to protect Vegapunk while dealing with Borsalino and Saturn both.
Bonney's attack feels rash, but I'd be willing to bet she's saved Vegapunk's life here. We saw what Saturn can do with a glance. He's not fucking around here. Which means every moment someone is keeping his attention elsewhere is a better chance of Vegapunk's head not being exploded. She's definitely going to need a rescue sooner rather than later next chapter though. Good luck, Sanji!
Moments like this are what really makes the endgame feel like it's in motion for this series. It gets so hard to predict where we could be in a chapter's time when so much is happening at once in each chapter. And, as at the end of every installment lately, I hope we're back onto the normal schedule now so we can all enjoy more of this good stuff while it's coming.
I also post these on APforums and my Wordpress blog!

Summary- Robin Reyes is a fucked up girl, from a young age she was molested by doctors and sometimes her mother's boyfriend. With her mother's abuse getting worse and worse the girl snaps and kills them both. While on the run she gets approached by a group of people claiming they know a place where people like her could kill, legally. All she needed to do was follow the rules.
When Robin meets Rachel she realises that she wants to try her hand at a normal life despite how abnormal she is and when she meets Zack they gradually warm up to each other until she realises who she wants that normal life with.
Word Count- 1741

To Robin's horror, the girl pulls a needle and thread from her bag. She then grabbed the malnourished bird with a quick movement. "It's okay, hold still." The needle went into the bird's wing and then back out forming a stitch. The bird tweeted and screeched in pain as she began to sew its wing shut.
The killer groaned, covering her mouth with her hand, disgusted by the action taking place before her, however being unable to look away from the macabre sight of the struggling bird. After Rachel finished stitching the bird she looked down at it.
"There, you should be fine now. But I worry so you are coming with me." She held the bird in her hands softly, trying to prevent its pain from getting worse.
--Acquired Injured Bird--
As they both began to leave the room the sound of a pipe clanking stopped them in their movements. "W-What's that sound? It's scaring the bird." Robin gripped her bat tight running back onto the main street, clearly on the offensive.
"There's nothing here..." The woman muttered, still keeping her wide stance when suddenly the entrance to the alley was closed off by a wall. "What the fuck?" She gaped in shock at the wall. The bird tweeted in fright and jumped out of Ray's grasp.
"Come on little birdie..." Each time she tried to grab the bird it flew slightly away from her, leading her in a full circle before it stood directly in front of the boarded door.
"I don't like this..." Robin warned, her position becoming more reinforced, getting odd anxiety from what was happening. Ray simply looked at the bird with a smile on her face.
"Don't be scared, let's leave this place together. Okay?" The bird tweeted in response. Robin's paranoia got worse as her heart rate picked up causing her to become jittery.
"Let's just get the fuck out of here." Rachel ignored her.
"Well, come here." She held her hands open for the bird to climb in them. The sound of wood breaking followed by laughter bellowed through the room, Rachel jumped back by a metre and stared up in shock.
A man stood there, possibly early twenties, but it was hard to tell due to the bandages covering his body. He was wearing a light brown hoodie and possessed a large scythe positioned behind him, ready to swing at her at any given moment.
"Wipe that stupid, smug look off of your face and surrender to despair! I'll give you a Three-second head start... How fast can you run?" Robin weighed her options, she was smaller than him so he would have the upper hand in attacking, however, she did have a small pocket knife tucked into her apron.
A large weapon is no good if your opponent is right in front of you, and that could give her the upper hand, however, she didn't want to risk death to protect this child so she opted on running instead.
"Now cry, scream, beg for your life! Show me the despair on your face! YES,  more!" The man yelled maniacally.
"THREE!" He yelled, staring at the two girls, trembling with blood lust, as they began to run down the corridor.
"Oh for fuck sake, you’re so slow!" Robin hoisted the child into her arms and sprinted towards the dining room.
"TWO" They made their way to the first door and Robin kicked it open with all her might.
"ONE!" B6 yelled, sprinting after the girls who were just a step ahead, Robin slammed the door in his face and ran into the dining room, shoving Rachel into the large box before jumping into a locker opposite it.
Then the door opened, the heavy footsteps of the floor master sounded throughout the room as Robin began to panic. "Huh? Where the hell did those bitches go? This room?" He looked around the room, his eyes setting onto Rachel's hiding spot.
"One of them has to be in there." His scythe lifted into the air and slammed down into the box, no sound was heard. "Huh, guess I missed." The scythe sliced through it once more and then he gave up. "I guess not, I'll just unlock the door." Robin heard the door unlock and close, followed by the footsteps repeatedly becoming softer before stopping completely.
Robin stumbled out of the locker, brushing off her dress. "Jesus, that was High School all over again." She walked over to the broken box and opened the lid, expecting to find the bleeding corpse of Rachel inside, but no, she was still alive.
"Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw, you're alive?" She helped the traumatised girl out of the box. Rachel nodded lightly, her steps swaying.
"I-I hope IT doesn't come back..." Rachel looked up at Robin with fear-filled eyes. "We've got to escape this place before IT finds us. If it catches us..." Rachel looked down at her feet.
"You never call somebody an 'IT' no matter how mean they are. I mean, unless of course, that thing is Pennywise, if so then go for it. Creepy clown motherfucker." Robin shuddered at the thought of the child-eating clown.
"The bird..." We walked to the door B6 had unlocked and opened it. "We can go through now... Did it unlock it?" Robin glared at the girl, lightly tapping her head, telling her to knock it off. They saw a small room, a door to their right and a hatch right in front of them. They opted to go through the door first.
That door led back to the main street, it was a shortcut back to the building they met B6 in. "I worry about the bird..." Rachel murmured. Robin led Rachel over to the dead bird. It had been ripped in two. Ray frowned deeply and picked up the two halves of the bird. "At least let me give it a proper burial."
They walked over to the dirt room they had found on the way to the dining area. Rachel picked up the shovel and dug a decent size hole for the bird. Just as Rachel was about to put the bird into the hole she froze, looking at the two pieces of bird in her hands.
'Oh god, here we go again.' Robin thought, preparing herself for the creepy side of Rachel to come back out.
"No... You're not my little birdy... Not like this... Not like this. You shouldn't look like this... I-It's just cruel!" Rachel's spoken thought process stopped as a creepy grin took over her face. "I gotta fix you little birdy." Robin followed Rachel's hand movements as she sewed the bird back together, genuinely feeling queasy from the exchange, the sound of the needle roughly ramming into the bird's flesh made the older woman want to puke.
"Look, good as new." She smiled normally once more at the bird, not once looking at Robin's horrified expression. "All that's left is to bury it." She grabs the dove and throws it into the grave, covering it back up with soil.
"There is something on the floor." Robin pointed to the ground where the bird was buried.
"Ah, come to think of it, I had a feeling something fell out of its stomach earlier." Robin doubled over and heaved.
"Ugh, that is so gross kid." Rachel picked up the bloody key and handed it to Robin to tie to the string around her neck, Robin pushed the key away. "Wipe that thing off first." Rachel did just that on her jeans, the fresh blood quickly smearing from the key to her shorts.
"That's better." Robin took the key and hung it around her neck, she liked to collect keys, it was a fun little pastime. "Now I think I know where this leads." They both ended up back to the hatch in the floor, a sign next to it saying 'Elevator Passage control room.'
Using the key on the floor panel Robin managed to get it open and climbed down the narrow passageway finally coming across a switch labelled 'Elevator Passage Gate.' Without another thought, Robin switched it on and climbed back up to Rachel who was patiently waiting next to the hatch.
"I flipped the switch, the Elevator should work now." They both went over to the door that comes back out to the main road but it's been locked?
"What the fuck!? Stay close, if not I’m going to leave you as bait and get the fuck out of here alone." Robin pushed Ray behind her and walked back through the dining room and corridor, coming back out through the other door they went through to escape B6. A piece of rumble from the top of the room fell next to Robin, causing the two to turn their gaze to above the door.
He laughed once more, definitely a normal thing for him. "PEEK-A-BOO, I FOUND YOU AT LAST." He hops down from the piping and locks the door behind him, essentially cornering them. "Well, I locked the door. I should've done that sooner!" He giggled to himself, staring at the two girls creepily, licking his lips as bloodlust poured from his body.
"No head start for you this time!" Without any thought, Robin grabbed Rachel and sprinted as fast as she could, left, right, left, right, left! She repeated in her head, hoping that the door was open and when she got there it was. She turned to look at B6, who was maybe 3 foot behind her and ran through the door.
"HOOOLLLLDDD ITTTTT" She heard him yell from the other side of the door. She ran through the small corridor and managed to make it to the elevator.
"Fucking make me mummy boy!" She yelled as she opened the elevator and stepped inside. Pressing the button to close it. Shit. It wasn't closing, and B6 was getting closer. In a flurry of panic, her hand repeatedly slammed onto the button until it finally closed, just blocking Robin and Rachel from getting killed by him.
Robin wiped her forehead, panting heavily. "Holy. Shit." Ray too, was out of breath and sat quietly on the floor trying to regain it. Robin sat next to the girl. "Well, here's to surviving another floor." She huffed. Feeling the elevator coming to a stop. The door opened once more. Giving them a taste of B5, and it was a hospital. Shit.

"While I agree the king is rather limited, its role is to lead and keep the forces together on the lanceboard. Without it, all other members of the party fall apart," Gale said thoughtfully, his eyes on the board. "That being said, my favourite piece is most likely the rook. Tall, proud, and a force to be reckoned with. It can cross the board in a single move and, if used correctly, against the right opponent, it could wipe out half the board. Especially if your opponent is too focused on removing the queen."
He smiled as he moved his own rook, which bore Karlach's name on the base. "Ah, well, I might be biased, of course."
Unprompted Asks || Always Accepting
Tumblr media
Lanceboard was not a game Karlach ever pictured herself playing, let alone finding herself enjoying. It was a slow going task to get her to actually sit and learn the rules. Yet, as always, Gale was a great teacher. In time, Karlach found thinking of it with a more personal twist to it all made her enjoy it all the more. Plus just spending time with someone in a calm environment for a change was a breath of fresh air.
So, nowadays, she was happy to sit at the Lanceboard with him, even if it did mean she lost the high majority of the time.
"I get that that's how the game works, but I don't like the idea of some pieces having higher value than others. The King and Queen wouldn't be shit without their army, but the army wouldn't last long without leadership. It's a joint effort! Everyone contributes. The Rook can't exactly work on her own without her King-uh...it's, I mean. It's King."
"Biased, you? Nah, never." She added, grinning teasingly.
She feigned a sigh as a pawn of hers got taken off the board by Gale's rook. "Ah man, sorry Scratch!" Karlach commented, knowing full well who's names were under some of these pieces. It made the stakes all the higher, the game all the more fun. The company all the more enjoyable.

Raise the flag of Rebellion for Raidraptors
Talking about the new Raidraptors from Phantom Nightmare. While not unwelcome, I do want to discuss them a bit. It's been a while since Phantom Rage released. We're moving a bit away from the PK/RR dual support and just resting in the deck's natural rhythm. RUM and rapid Xyz Summoning. None of these cards are bad by any stretch
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP004 Raid Raptors – Noir Lanius
Level 4 DARK Winged Beast Effect Monster
ATK 1600 DEF 500
You can only use the (1)st and (2)nd effect of this card’s name each once per turn.
(1) During the Main Phase, if this card was Normal or Special Summoned this turn: You can target 1 “Raidraptor” monster you control; add 1 “Raidraptor” monster with a different Level from your Deck to your hand.
(2) You can banish this card from your GY; increase or decrease the Levels of all “Raidraptor” monsters you currently control by 1 until the end of this turn.
Off the bat, you’re not searching the Level 3 or Level 6 RRs, you’re only searching a Level 1. Pain Lanius is a card that summons itself and Last Strix lets you Special Summon from the Extra Deck to set up RUM. And what is interesting is that the searching and level changes do not have summon restrictions. So it would be possible to go into any Rank 3 or Rank 5 Xyz. But based on the optimal plays for the deck, you’re locking yourself into Dark or RR only. So maybe try out some Break Sword in the Extra Deck now, I wouldn’t try Fiend Eagle tho.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP005 Raid Raptors – Bloom Vulture
Level 4 DARK Winged Beast
ATK 300 DEF 1900
You can only use 1 effect among the (1) and (2) effects of this card’s name once per turn, and only once that turn, also during the turn you activate these effects, you cannot Special Summon monsters, except DARK monsters.
(1) If all face-up monsters you control are Winged Beast monsters: You can Special Summon this card and 1 “Raidraptor” monster from your hand.
(2) If you control no monsters: You can target 2 Level 4 or lower “Raidraptor” monsters in your GY, including this card; Special Summon them in Defense Position.
So just your every deck Special Summon from hand and revival. Obviously you only get to use one per turn. Because it would be pretty gross otherwise. You open Bloom Vulture and use it for a comeback play. Great card.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP045 Raid Raptors – Rising Rebellion Falcon
Rank 13 DARK Winged Beast Xyz Effect Monster
ATK 4000 DEF 3500
Materials: 5 Level 13 Winged-Beast monsters
(1) If this card is Xyz Summoned: You can destroy as many cards your opponent controls as possible, then, if this card has 3 or more “Raidraptor” Xyz Monsters with different names as material, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monsters’ total original ATK.
(2) Unaffected by other cards’ effects.
(3) Once per turn: You can detach 3 materials from this card, then target 1 “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster in your GY; replace this effect with that monster’s original effects until the End Phase.
So we got your usual RR boss not affected by anything. Also a Rank 13?! Neat neat. Also a board wipe that you can do on the opponents turn if you use the RUM strategy. Since it’s not affected by anything it would be a game ender in certain scenarios since it can’t be negated. Also being able to duplicate lower rank effects? Golden. Might be hard to use its full power but even half would be good.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP046 Raid Raptors – Brave Strix
Rank 5 DARK Winged Beast Xyz Effect Monster
ATK 2000 DEF 2500
Materials: 2 Level 5 monsters
You can only use 1 of the 1st and 2nd effects of this card’s name per turn, and only once that turn.
(1) You can detach 1 material from this card; Set 1 “Raidraptor” Spell/Trap directly from your Deck.
(2) If this card has a Winged Beast monster as material: You can detach 1 material from this card; add 1 “Rank-Up-Magic” Spell from your Deck to your hand.
(3) A “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster that has this card as material gains this effect.
● Gains ATK equal to its own Rank x 100.
So Force Strix got a rank up now. Well at least there’s a reason to make your RR Level 5, because I’m not running Stranger or Blaze Falcon. Sadly you need to choose between a RR S/T or RUM. Both can severely impact your gameplay so plan accordingly depending on your access to Wise Strix or Mimicry Lanius. Also the boost to attack is neat for the rank up plays. Since you want to oonga boonga hard and cards like Revolution Falcon only have 2000 ATK.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP056 Яise-Rank-Up-Magic Raid Raptors’ Force
Quick-Play Spell Card
You can only activate 1 card with this card’s name per turn.
(1) During either Main Phase or your opponent’s Battle Phase: Target 2 or more “Raidraptor” Xyz Monsters you control and/or GY, including 1 on the field; Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster whose Rank equals the total Ranks of those 2 or more monsters, and if you do, attach those monsters to it as material. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon. Transfer their materials to the Summoned monster.)
So a new RUM that is clearly designed to go into the Rank 13. You Xyz Summon using multiple RR Xyz to make your huge tank. Not much to really say. Using Last Strix can help bring out a big body for low cost. And at Spell Speed 2 it can definitely change the tide of battle.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP057 Raid Raptors – Roost
Continuous Spell Card
You can only use the 1st and 2nd effect of this card’s name each once per turn.
(1) If a “Raidraptor” monster(s) is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck to your field: You can add 1 “Raidraptor” Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand, except “Raidraptor Roost”.
(2) You can target 3 of your “Raidraptor” monsters that are banished and/or in your GY; place them on the bottom of the Deck in any order, then draw 1 card
A new Continuous Spell to play alongside Nest. And this time it adds S/T to support your Xyz. There are a lot of traps for the deck or RUM that you might want to search. Having a Pot effect is an extra boost since your GY or banished zone will fill up quick in this deck.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP074 Raidraptor – Glorious Bright
Normal Trap
You can only use 1 of the 1st and 2nd effect of this card’s name per turn, and only once that turn.
(1) If you control a “Raidraptor” monster: Target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; negate its effects until the end of this turn. Unless you control a “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster at activation, you can only target monsters.
(2) You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 of your “Raidraptor” monsters that is banished or in your GY; add it to your hand.
Madolche Promenade for RR. Which is always good. And it even has a banish effect for recursion. All good things. Making it searchable means you shouldn’t be against running this. Since it negates any card as long as you have a Xyz which is how the deck works.

PAUPER MODERN OCT.2023 CHAMPION -Cyrus
I leave my house and hop on BART in eager anticipation of my first Pauper Modern tournament. Unfortunately, I miss the bus upon my arrival at the Balboa Park stop and have to briskly walk through campus only to still arrive at the tournament a few minutes late. Upon arrival, I am immediately presented with three options. Jared, the host of this event, has offered to let me borrow a deck. Like a young Pokémon trainer, I would need to choose my companion for this adventure. First up was Mono Black. I do enjoy playing decks with a lot of skulls… but wanted to see what else was available. Mono white caught my eye, but I had to see what the third option was… Kuldotha Boros! A deck I have at least played before in regular Pauper. I enjoy making a lot of decisions, and being assertive with creatures when I am forced to play with them, so this seemed like a good choice for the afternoon. I make sure I present a cohesive 75 with the flex-slots Jared has provided and shuffle up for Round 1!
Round 1: Daniel on Mono Blue Faeries Game 1: My opponent leads on a basic Island and I assume they are playing Faeries. My hand is okay in the matchup. I have a good number of creatures to get under their counter spells. However, I am quickly blown out by a few combat tricks and find myself on the backfoot. Luckily, I am able to string together a Kuldotha Rebirth with a Rally the Peasants and present lethal. Side boarding: This matchup is quite strong. However, one way you can lose is getting tempoed out with tricks, Faeries and Ninjas. For that reason, I prefer to shift into a control deck and bring in as many removal spells as possible. Swiftspear, Kuldotha Rebirth, and Rally the Peasants all do not fit this game plan post-board. Game 2: Seeker of the Way does a lot of work. That in conjunction with removal spells is enough to get the job done. I grab a couple of slices of pizza and chat with the other tournament goers. 1-0
Round 2: Chris on Storm Game 1: I hear Chris talking about Storm, so I figure that is what I am playing against. My favorite archetype across all formats! I know I must keep an assertive hand and am happy with my mulligan into a hand with multiple creatures. Chris casts Grapeshot for 6 to wipe my board, but I am able to rebuild and use Rally the Peasants to present lethal a few turns later. Side boarding: I decide that Lightning Bolt can help against Goblin Electromancer or just go face to help race. I also bring in End the Festivities for the Empty the Warrens tokens. I take out some number of the two-drop cantrip artifacts and the Thraben Inspectors as the matchup seems less about value rather than trying to end the game quickly. Game 2: I have a medium hand. My strategy of boarding out the cantrip artifacts feels awkward with a grip full of Skyfishers and Glint Hawks, but I decide a hand with multiple flying creatures is still worth keeping. I spend much of the game replaying my own lands, before Chris assembles a First Day of Class + Empty the Warrens for 12 2/2 hasty Goblins. I am able to just barely stabilize long with an army of Kor Skyfishers before a pair of End the Festivities in conjunction with Rally the Peasants ends the game. 2-0.
Round 3: Rob on Boros Game 1: I know I am in for a grind with the Boros champ himself! Luckily, I am on the draw and he mulls to 5. The game goes on for a while, but it is hard to overcome starting down 3 cards in the mirror. Game 2: Rob sequences his cantrip artifacts and creatures well before blowing me out with Makeshift Munitions and we are quickly shuffling up for Game 3. Game 3: I keep a sketchy hand on the draw. It has Glint Hawk, Kor Skyfisher and removal. It is powerful, but is also relying on 3 copies of Experimental Synthesizer along with 1 copy of basic Mountain as the only land. Of course my first 2 Synthesizers hit dual-lands and we are off to the races. #NeverLucky. We play a very long game with a lot of back and forth, but I eek out lethal with burn spells just as we are about to go to time. 3-0
Round 4: Isaac on Mono Blue Faeries Game 1: I get the pair down against Isaac and I know he is on Mono Blue. I have played both sides of this matchup extensively in regular Pauper and feel confident. The game follows as such with me playing a lot of removal and creatures while Isaac is unable to surmount attack into my high toughness threats and pile of removal. Isaac does flood out after being forced to cycle Lorien Revealed early to draw cards. Game 2: I board in close to 15 removal spells and settle in for a grind. At one point, my Experimental Synthesizer gets countered, opening the door to spend three consecutive turns resolving Kor Skyfisher (returning a life-gain land). The 2/3s are 2-free and I am able to pull off the second game. 4-0! Overall, 8-1 in games I believe. The deck ran very well. There are a couple of ways to take the deck. Today, I was especially impressed with Rally the Peasants, and could see a second copy being included in the deck. Swiftspear underperformed in the matchups I played. Props: Jared for hosting and lending me a deck. All of my opponents for being great. The Pizza for being delicious and Rally the Peasants for providing wins out of nowhere. Slops: The 43 bus leaving 2 minutes early and messing up my BART transfer. Thanks for having me and I hope to return to defend my belt! CyrusCG

whats the solitaire discourse??
The usual "my opponent's turn went super long and they set up a board full of oppressive negates, while my turn and only response was set one pass, and they beat me in one turn"
Here's the tweet I'm seeing people go off of: tumblr's preview for videos is dumb, but it's a Gishki/Tearlament combo versus a set defense monster, and in the middle of the combo he opens up actual solitaire to wait out the turn
Tumblr media
Which, like, fair, Gishki is notorious for either wiping your field or eating your hand, and I haven't even touched Master Duel since the last event so I'm not even sure how much better it's gotten, but the reveal that he might've been playing an FTK deck and just didn't draw his own combo makes it a little ironic
Although, it could've easily just been that he was using magical library because it's a 2000 defense monster with a good effect, Either way, it's gotten people talking about how they refuse to try Yugioh because of it
which, of course, gets people who like yugioh mad because they want people to try yugioh

Nice to see you again.
shangqi x reader.
summary; you didn’t think you would see him again, even after all these years he still had hope of finding you, safe and sound.
warnings; mentions of the gold daggers club, maybe spoilers lol, angst and fluff (pls tell me if i should add more!) also this is quite long lmao so bear with it
notes; soooo yeah i have like 3 things to write for shangqi lol anyways pls wait for those! also english isn’t my first language soooo there might some mistakes hehe sorry! also this is requested hehe
Tumblr media
your eyes ran across the white board that was hanging on the wall, a marker on your hand while the other held a clipboard that had crazy amounts of money next to a fighters name.
you don’t really enjoy the fighting scene but xialing does so when she offered you this job after leaving her fathers regimen you decided to accept it. it was fun. watching people and creatures from all around the world and universe fight against each other for fun but what you like the most about this job is that it paid the bills so you can’t really complain about it.
you finish writing a competitors name when xialing enters the office the both of you share.
“are you fighting tonight?” you ask after seeing her wrap her knuckles.
“yup, you should watch it.” she says. “you’ll like this one” she adds with a smirk.
you sigh and a tiny smile spreads around your cheeks. “is it against wong? i kinda want to bet to that.” xialing takes her shoes off and puts them next to her desk, she claps her hands and smiles while shaking her head. she takes your left wrist, pulling you to the door. you huff and throw the clipboard and the marker on a tiny table next to the door.
why is she so demanding for you to watch this fight? you’ve seen her fight multiple times that at this point you know how to fight just by watching her— and also staying with wenwu for so many years had it’s perks, you didn’t need anyone to defend you, not anymore—
you try to follow her fast walking, almost tripping with your own feet.
“cheer for me.” she smiles.
“i always do!” you push her with your shoulder and xialing laughs.
her opponents name was announced and when you turned your head towards them you couldn’t believe your eyes.
it’s him, looking at his sister then back to you. your eyebrows frown and you break in cold sweat. before you could do anything jon jon gave the signal to start fighting.
you never liked seeing him fight, it didn’t matter if it was only training or a real fight but you never enjoyed it. it hurt seeing him full of purple spots covering all over his tan skin.
and it didn’t help that his own sister was kicking his ass.
when xialing gave him a really hard kick his eyes searched for someone under the ring, you followed his sight line and landed your eyes on a girl with neon green pants. she made a face of pain and started to cover her eyes with her hands and all because xialing wouldn’t stop giving him a hard time so you decided to leave. now you understood why she wanted you to see her fight.
your hand tried to wipe the tears that had accumulated on yours eyes after closing the door of the office you were previously in. you definitively can’t believe that after all these years he finally decided to show up and you hate the way your heart beats faster after seeing him.
“i thought you were over it.” xialing’s voice sounds behind you.
“says the one who couldn’t stop throwing punches at him.” you talk back.
she sighs at your answer. “sorry, i should’ve told you he was here.” she pats your shoulder as she passes by you and you groan. xialing sits on top of her desk and plays with her fingers. “and i think i should tell you that he’s coming here right now.”
you shake your head. “what?”
the door opens showing members of the golden daggers carrying shangqi’s body. they leave him on the couch that’s on the middle of the room, after them the girl with the neon green pants comes in with a huge stack of money on her hands.
she looks at you and the gasps. “you’re the girl from the picture!” she points at you, making xialing turn her head.
“w-what picture?” you ask trying not to sound too nervous.
she opens her waist bag and pulls out a polaroid then places the stack of money inside the bag. she extends her hand and motions for you to take the polaroid.
you turn it around and the sides of your lips quirk up into a tiny smile. it’s a photo of you and him, he was 16 and you were 14, it was a week before he left. and what made that photo so special was that he was holding your hand behind his back so no one would notice it.
it was also taken on the day you and him shared feelings for the each other.
“why were you carrying that?” shangqi groans from his place at the couch.
“sorry.” she mumbles. “i could tell you didn’t want to leave it back at san francisco so i took it when you weren’t looking.”
you sit next to xialing, eyes still looking at the picture. you were so absorbed in your own world that you didn’t notice the siblings arguing.
your eyes immediately traveled to ring that has been in your finger for so many years that you don’t even remember the last time you took it out.
“he wants our pendants and the ring, he already has mine.” that’s the only thing you get to hear from the argument.
“why?” you ask without looking up, still staring at the picture. he stops talking and takes a good look at you.
shangqi huffs as his hands go over his head, scratching his scalp in frustration. “i-i don’t know, but one thing is sure, he’s coming for the both of you.”
when your best friend was just about to speak the alarms went off. xialing takes your free hand and pulls you towards a secret exit. jon jon joins before the door closes. “wait!” you shout, realizing that shangqi and his friends were being left behind. he turns after hearing your voice and only manages to see your worried face.
the secret exit which turned out to be an elevator starts going down. “we have to go back!” you say while reaching for the button to stop the elevator but xialing slaps your hand away.
“he deserves it! he left us at our own luck and never took time out of his day just to see if we were still alive!” she screams back at you.
your stare right at her eyes and she does the same with yours. “please.” you beg. “it’s you’re brother and he’s—“
“the guy you love?” she mocks. “fine! but i’m doing it just for you.” xialing nods towards jon jon, he then stops the elevator.
the elevator goes up instead and after just a few seconds it’s doors open, you and xialing step out while jon jon stays there. she runs to a broken window and jumps out.
jus when you were going to do the same, one of the members of the ten rings passes by the window and sees you. “shit.” you mumble.
you always hated being chased by them, they would never stop and that made you hate them with your whole being. it didn’t help that the golden daggers facility had the hallways placed like a maze.
turning to the left you could clearly see shangqi and the death dealer fighting. you ran towards them as fast as you could and pushed the death dealer with your whole body off of shangqi making you both roll on your backs and ending on the same pose spiderman often used.
more of wenwu’s men arrive and one of them takes your hand and tries to pull the ring off your finger. you try to pull your hand back but another member punches your side making you let go. the punch took must of the air out of your lungs.
“i’m surprised y/n.” wenwu’s voice fills the room. “still holding onto that ring uh?”
[***]
your mind didn’t have any thought other than wenwu must be out of his mind. there’s no way shangqi and xialing’s mother is alive.
“penny for you thoughts?” shangqi says next to you.
“do you believe him?” you ask while running your finger in circles on the spot the ring his mother gave you used to be. he doesn’t say anything back. “what are we going to do? i don’t think it’s safe to go.”
a few moments of silence pass by until you see him pulling out your ring out of his pocket.
“xialing thinks it might be true but me? you know there’s no way my mother is alive.” he extends the ring to you. he places the ring on your palm. “i always thought you didn’t keep it.”
you shrug and a breathy laugh leaves your mouth. “i loved your mother too, she took me in when no one else wanted, i would never throw it away.”
after hearing your words he nods, shangqi sees your put the ring back in place and holds his gaze on the purple crystal that got you into this mess. and he realizes that you haven’t said anything about him leaving, and it makes him wonder, would’ve been better if he came back for xialing and for you?
“i’m sorry.”
you scoff. “you’re sorry? just sorry? you never came back! i waited for you so many years but you know what was the worst part? your father took me as your replacement!”
he felt like his insides were burning, he didn’t know his own father did the same to you.
“i just wanted the death dealer to kill me after every mission, he never gave me a free day. your father used me to kill others and if i refused well, it wasn’t pretty so no, i can't forgive you and for so many years I wanted to search for you after i left but now i can't even look at you.” after your final words there's complete silence.
shangqi takes your wrist just like his sister did earlier on and forces you to sit next to him on his childhood bed. he bring you closer to his chest and puts his free hand on the back of your head making you press against his body.
“i want to forgive you because i-i still love you.” you whispered, afraid that his father would hear.
shangqi applied more pressure to your body, melting in each other’s arms. he places his forehead against yours looking directly to your eyes.
“i still love you too.”
