His house was going to be knocked down to create a bypass, then his eccentric friend suddenly whisked him off to space before the Earth was destroyed to make a Space Bypass. He's still in his dressing gown. He knows nothing about space (luckily there's a handy book for that!). He's not overly invested in his adventures, preferring to spend his time trying to get a spaceship to make a decent cup of tea.

Iris also once proposed to the Doctor in Venice.

hello! i enjoyed an enchantment of ravens and sorcery of thorns so much. your worlds are always so enchanting and charming and i especially loved how the fair folk are represented in aeor!! they were so eerie yet delightful. all your characters are so unique in fantasy, interesting & lovable. i loved how rook was the dreamy romantic and isobel was more sensible when it’s usually the other way around.
and sorcery of thorns,, incredible amazing show stopping spectacular out of the world. i love the concept the characters the atmosphere & it’s one of my fave fantasy reads ever.
i was wondering if you had any modern day hcs of the sorcery of thorns gang bc even thinking about it makes me laugh hysterically.

Hi anon, such a fun ask. I do have some modern day headcanons. One is that Silas would love Benoit Blanc. The other is that Nathaniel reads pulpy scifi novels but is always casting illusions on them to make them look like pretentious literary fiction to anyone who happens to be watching. This is annoying for Silas, who actually reads literary fiction and is tired of picking up One Hundred Years of Solitude only for it to turn out to be Nathaniel's copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Elisabeth has no idea what tiktok is, even though Nathaniel runs a viral tiktok account where he posts videos of his strong hot girlfriend effortlessly hoisting ikea furniture over her shoulder and staring at the art museum's medieval armor exhibit with a weirdly hungry expression as the attendant nervously wonders if he should call security. Silas sabotages the ikea furniture while they're sleeping. When their strandtorp table collapses the next day, he looks at them with pity and blames it on poor manufacturing. Elisabeth is banned from Costco's family sized strawberry jam.

Based on the sci-fi fandoms I've had interactions with, here's how I think about their level of chillness.
Star Trek: Honestly? A very mixed bag. Sometimes Star Trek fans will be the most chill people on the face of the planet, and sometimes they're really annoying. Asking their opinions about Discovery is a good way of finding out which category they're in.
Star Wars: Absolutely the worst. Zero chill. Sometimes they vindicate how I felt in 2012 when I actively wanted for the franchise to die out.
Farscape: Genuinely the most chill fandom I've ever encountered. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience with a Farscape fan.
Stargate: These guys had varying levels of chill back in 2009 or so when Universe was first being aired and when Beckett being killed off on Atlantis was still a hot button issue, but they've chilled out a lot since then. The lack of new content has done them some good.
Battlestar Galactica: Pretty much the same as Stargate fans because they didn't have a lot of chill back in '09 or so because the ending was so contentious, but have chilled out a lot since then.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Out of the sci-fi comedy fandoms, this one has the least chill. They're still okay most of the time, but they can be a bit annoying sometimes.
3rd Rock from the Sun: Chill, but this is probably somewhat related to how small the fandom is.
Resident Alien: From what I've seen, they're chill.
Red Dwarf: Also chill.
Starship Troopers: Honestly, these guys can go either way, too. Some of them lack chill because they're fans of the Robert Heinlein book and don't like that the movie parodied it, and sometimes they're a bit dense and think the movie is nudge nudge, wink wink real talk. The more chill ones kinda know what the movie's about though and actively prefer it to the book.
Ender's Game: How chill these guys are is an inverse correlation of how much they agree with Orson Scott Card.
Deus Ex: Chill. The JC Denton memes are great.
Doctor Who: Lacked chill in the SuperWhoLock days, and now it's a mixed bag on whether or not they'll be chill or not.

Congrats on the 500 followers! For a short prompt, if you still doing them, maybe Danny having a quiet moment at the Wayne Manor? You choose who he spends the relaxing moment with 🤗
Gil, you already know who I'm choosing.
Danny had been with Tim for a few months and it had been great. More than great. He couldn't remember ever being happier. That being said, between school, work, and their night life, the days they could just sit and enjoy each other's company without something else hanging over their heads was rare. But, today of all days he was going to make it happen.
"Are you done yet?" Danny asked, resting is head on Tim's shoulder.
"I just have to finish this report." Tim said, not pausing his fingers.
"That's what you said twenty minutes ago. When is this due?" Danny couldn't make heads or tails of the numbers on the screen, and honestly had no interest in doing so.
"The deadline is Friday, but-"
"It's Wednesday. It's seven at night on a Wednesday. You are the only one here still working. Let's go!" Danny said. The only reason he hadn't closed Tim's laptop and drug him bodily from the building was the threat of itching powder in his underwear drawer.
"I have to set an example, Danny."
"Set an example of a healthy work-life balance." Danny said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Now, save your work and let's go. Alfred is making your favorite for dinner."
"Why is he making my favorite?" Tim asked, saving the document and shutting down his laptop.
"You're kidding, right?" Danny asked, offering his arm. Tim took it and the next thing he knew they were in the air, flying toward Wayne Manor.
Danny and Tim enjoyed a late dinner and then Danny drug Tim to the media room for a movie night of all of his favorite movies. Danny wasted no time cuddling into Tim's chest. It always calmed him, hearing his boyfriend's heartbeat and breathing. Plus, in this position he knew Tim wasn't on his phone working. Halfway through Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Tim's hand found it's way into Danny's hair. Blunt nails raked against his scalp, and Danny felt his core starting to rumble. It used to embarrass him, the ghost purring, but Tim seems to make it his mission to pull the sound from him.
Danny shifted and Tim's clever fingers swept down Danny's spine and he was gone, just a puddle on Tim's chest.
"Happy Birthday, Tim."

I think Hulu is tryina do a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series or something rn but fuck them I should be given the rights and should be allowed to make a limited run hitchhikers guide series under my grand vision
Important steps:
It will be filmed mostly in someone’s backyard and in sets constructed entirely within disused office building on the cheap
It will be crowdfunded so everything has to be cheap. Having 15 full minutes of kickstarter credits adds to any project.
Every member of the cast will be a rando nobody except for whatever low budget horror movie actors/big budget British stars past their prime I can get on the cheap who are willing to play side characters. I’m thinking we can swing Bill Nighy as Vogon Jeltz.
Arthur’s bathrobe will be as dirty as physically possible and will vary inconsistently in filth throughout the series.
The only real money spent will go into special effects like prosthetics and makeup except in the case of Zaphod’s second head, which will be carved and painted styrofoam. Marvin will be a real robot we’ll commission for the project voiced, ideally, by Frank Oz.
The Heart of Gold will be a leftover Star Trek Picard set that we’ve converted to our needs. Because of this, there will be a framed picture of Patrick Stewart on the ship that is never addressed or explained, treated in the same way one would treat a picture of Jesus Christ hung above their bed.
The book’s footnotes will be accounted for in the form of the show pausing, the narrator (ideally another austere British actor like Colin Firth. More likely, I call in my dad and have him run some lines in a British accent) explaining the footnote with a graphic overlaid on the screen, and then the show resuming. The pause is not an actual pause of footage, instead the actors will be frozen in whatever position they were at the beginning of the footnote and will periodically glance at the camera, fear and hatred in their eyes, before they can begin moving again.
It will be crunchy science fiction except for the Heart of Gold. That can have the sleek iPhone look. Everything else should look like a dirty used toaster you found at a garage sale that you think someone will end up buying even though there’s a big red stain on the side that might be blood.
Arthur and Ford will be gay but it will not be explicitly stated. Instead, it will be revealed to the viewer through a series of vignettes of Trillian and Zaphod accidentally catching the two of them rawdogging it across the ship. Zaphod asks to join them. They tell him no, as they’re pretty sure he has some kind of space herpes. He insists that having three arms and two heads makes him a better lover, since he can suck two dicks at once.
The music will be composed by a series of musical artists who made music for the PlayStation 1
As many of the props will be from dumpsters or thrift stores as possible. I’m talking old pots and pans and used coffee makers painted to look like scientific instruments.
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe serves exclusively the Chili’s menu. Someone orders a fajita. Instead of sizzling, it is loudly complaining about the fact half of it is still lukewarm, having not been properly microwaved.

My entire Spanish novel collection

I'm not a huge fan of George Orwell, but I read both Animal Farm and 1984 in high school so I know they're short and easy to read. They'll be good practice.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is by far my favorite series of all time. None of the four (yes, four. Not five, not six, but four) are favorites by themselves, but taken as a whole I have yet to find anything more entertaining.
Jurassic Park is fun but VERY dry (as is Crichton's style). He has a lot of "look at all the research I did" exposition dumps, which I liked as a teenager but don't much care for now. If nothing else, I'll learn plenty of scientific vocabulary from Parque Jurasico.
The Martian is one of my favorite books of all time, tied for first with two titles below. I've read it a dozen times, I know it forwards and backwards. El Marciano was the first Spanish book I ever bought back in 2021, and I couldn't parse more than one word in ten. My reading comprehension has improved tremendously since then, and now I can read almost the entire thing (if I don't understand a certain passage, I know from memory of the English version which part I'm at in the story and can limp along without getting frustrated or confused)
The Road is one of the few books that has made me cry. Let me leave it at that.
The Time Traveler's Wife is another favorite tied with The Martian. I read all the other books on this list in high school or college, but I didn't pick this one up until relatively recently. I am currently in the process of reading La Mujer del Viajero en el Tiempo for the first time, and like The Martian I am able to use my knowledge of the English version to cross the gaps I don't yet understand.
World War Z is the third of the three way tie for favorite. I wanna say I read it for the first time in 2011 or 2012. It was before the movie came out, and I remember taking it with me to read at church camp one summer (it was a long bus ride to North Carolina, and I had to hide it from the chaperones all week). Every time I reread it, I pick up on some new aspect I missed the first dozen times around, so I'm excited to see if I come to any revelations in Spanish.

A family friend of mine moved to the United States from Honduras in her late 20s and learned English in part by watching Sesame Street with her kids, so I want to get Spanish versions of the Hunger Games trilogy and the five Percy Jackson and the Olympians books because I figure YA novels might help me learn Spanish easier than adult fiction. Right now I'm looking for simple titles that I'm already familiar with, but eventually I want to start buying Spanish books I've never read in English so I can fly without a net. My background is in Latin American Spanish, specifically Cuban Spanish, but my copy of El Marciano is European, so it shouldn't make too much of a difference which translations I buy (just so long as I keep series grouped together in sets so they're all the same)

movies ……….. first one that came to mind was the 2005 adaptation of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy starring Martin freeman. objectively kind of terrible and very different from the novel but I’m so attached to it …… the so long and thanks for all the fish opener …….

Simitar Entertainment were the most prolific distributors of budget VHS tapes. Their bread and butter lay in repackaging public domain cartoons, sports bloopers compilations, videos about Big Rig Trucks, Dad videos like “Golf Lessons from the Pros,” nearly all of which have not been released on DVD or streaming. The Internet Archive thankfully uploads and preserves these VHS treasures, particularly “Centerfold Photography,” as well as “Nonstop Crashes,” and “America’s Dumbest Crooks.” They also imported a lot of foreign films with cheap and easy to obtain rights, and Simitar at one point released both Jackie Chan’s Kung Fu movies and the Godzilla films into North America, not to mention the BBC’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Tragically, Simitar went out of business due to a lawsuit from the WWF in 2000, just when the switch to DVDs took place, meaning that the company’s logo is associated entirely with the discount VHS era. Their library is currently owned by their old rivals and foes, former VHS distributor, Brentwood Communications. 
You’ll find this surprising, but one of the most soothing and relaxing activities activities is to get on YouTube look up and watch compilations of old VHS company logos, from Media to Vidmark.
