There is something deeply symbolic in how Lucy and Tim are trying to figure out a way to stay in this new relationship while dealing with the issue of the chain of command - in the shop, of all places. With the cameras recording everything. And yet, there is no better place : this has been their sanctuary for a while, a confessional at times, despite Tim claiming the shop as a 'personal-life-free zone'. This scene also feels like a continuation of their conversation in The Collar, when they were discussing Lucy's relationship. Back then, it was about Chris and now, this is about the last remaining obstacle : the chain of command. Only, Lucy is the one with open eyes here.

I just love how neither of them even entertains breaking up… which is, honestly, kind of refreshing. Sensible too, since it is something they both knew would be coming up sooner rather than later. Anything else would have cheapened their words : they are worth taking the risk and they sincerely meant it. Still, seeing them simply dismissing this idea right away is amazing. As much as Lucy being the one to come up with the solution. The fact that she instantly suggests that she should be leaving Mid-Wilshire, shows how she has been thinking about this the moment they were assigned together again. Something that is further illustrated by how she even checked if there was any position available for Tim. She has been working on this while he was struggling with denial. And in some ways, still is, judging by his surprise at her idea, even though he knows that they can't continue like this. That was the point of the Lucy Lesson… But if he could have pretended for a little while longer, he would have. He did tell her once that he would miss riding with her and this has never been truer : he's absolutely not ready to end this chapter. But all the while, you can see the wheels turning in his head...

The thing is, he absolutely understands the sacrifice Lucy is making. Like he said, she loves it there at Mid-Wilshire. But more than that, it's where she has a family, where she feels safe. There's no guarantee she would find this in another station. And I'm not sure he wants to be separated like this either, not even getting to hear her voice on the radio. Her hesitation, the way she is trying to convince herself that this is the right call makes it clear that she doesn't like this any more than him. It's just the most convenient solution in her eyes. Tim is deflecting a bit at the end, telling her that they don't have to make a decision just yet… But that last look says otherwise. He has already made his choice. This is the same man who already rejected a promotion when she was a rookie, just so he could stay training her after all...

And how overwhelming it must have felt for him! So far he has been the one who was expected to make the sacrifices. And here is Lucy, showing him exactly that she meant it when she said he was the most important relationship in her life. But it's even more than being put first : it's about being finally included in the decision process. Something that neither Rachel, nor Ashley truly did. In many ways, he was treated as a mere afterthought. In Rachel's case, she never talked to him about searching for a job on the other side of the country until she was offered the position. Her choice was already made, it was pretty much a done deal. The only thing left to discuss was whether he would join her or not. But at no point did they discuss what would be best for them as a couple. He didn't really factor in - which is her right, of course. With Ashley, she was so gung-ho on him retiring because she got uncomfortable with the danger of the job that she sprung this idea of retirement on him. She was scared, between her father having heart issues just as he was finally retired and Tim being at risk of being paralysed due to an old bullet she didn't even know about. And that is perfectly understandable. She saw her dad wait for a decade before retiring and he might not get to enjoy it for too long… So I can see why she would want Tim to leave the force while he still could. But instead of having a conversation, of sharing these fears, she focused on herself and ultimately made him choose while he was just waking up from surgery.

And on the other hand, you have Lucy… Who not only never asked him to sacrifice his career for her, but was ready to make the change herself so he didn't have to. Who dismissed the idea of him taking a demotion. Just like she was there to help him study and get that promotion. She has been his biggest supporter, right from the beginning, protecting him from himself at times, reminding him of who he was when he was close to cross a line he wouldn't have been able to come back from. This is no different here : she makes sure to include him in the decision process. It is very much a conversation on how THEY should proceed. Because she knows firsthand what it's like to be asked by your loved ones to quit something you love… This is also such a powerful moment for her. For years, she has been hesitant and downright reluctant to commit to any of her relationships. And dating Tim for a few weeks was enough for her to be ready to take this huge step.

This time, it's not one-sided : this is an equal relationship. And Tim is not going to hesitate. Because Lucy is worth the effort. They both are. And so is their relationship.

time and time again me and my astrology friends have noted that Gojo Satoru is "the stereotypical Sagittarius" according to the tropical astrology - you know the larger than life personality, the "teacher" and the classic funny guy who is known to not commit to women (still not expressively seen in the mangas or anime itself). Moreover his technique is very jupiturian in it's own way - expansive and divine, note the word divine because he has actually quoted few religious and spiritual references during major rebirths of his ( gojo vs toji arc ) and if you don't know what that is I suggest you to read the mangas or maybe wait for the season 2 of the anime. but today i'll be discussing on the sidereal astrological significations of Gojo, the strongest and show you how he embodies this nakshatras and their archetypes surprisingly well.

Gojo satoru is born on the 7th of December 1989 and because i was unaware of any specified birth place i searched up the location of the actual Gojo Shrine which is in Tokyo. Gojo is known to be a kuge family descendant of the sugawara clan, which dominated the imperial courts in kyoto during the heian period.

Sun in Jyeshtha nakshatra

the vedic astrology system uses the current planetary placements in the cosmos thus it is 24 degrees late than the tropical zodiac as vedic astrology uses sidereal calculations.

Gojo is a sagittarius sun in tropical astrology but a scorpio sun in sidereal but don't worry we are on to the same person ( or character ) here.

His sun falls in the nakshatra of Jyestha meaning the eldest and it's nakshatra lord is mercury. An extremely hot nakshatra which is jyestha makes the native be very fire like in nature. Now all of this doesn't go together with satoru right? Well guess who is the presiding deity of this nakshatra - Indra the king of the gods.

jyestha natives are known to be extremely skilled with mercury as their nakshatra lord and mars as their zodiac lord - scorpio - giving them extreme powers to excel in activities like politics and fighting and indra grants the native extreme wealth and its symbol talisman manifests as the native having power and authority. Indra manifests his power on the material plain making the natives have an authoritative position given he was mythologically a warlord aswell.

This highly powerful placements makes the natives the best at their fields, high achievers. and aces very often due to their make it or break it nature along with their often found entitled nature Indra indulges in theatrical pleasures like watching dances and entertaining courtly rituals and also indulges in a sweet drink called soma. Gojo is said to come from an rich and esteemed clan giving him the bag in that aspects - riches are at his footstep. Not only that he is the head of this esteemed clan - an imperial clan in real life out of the anime but still - the authority - the king. Not only is he the head of his clan but an important figure in the entire jujutsu society so much so that his birth alone shifted the balance of the jujutsu world. He is the best - the strongest - the only honored one through the heavens and earth. He is the strongest fighter, the strongest sorcerer - sidereal scorpio's ruling planet mars' raw strength matching with the nakshatra lord mercury in magic and sorcery as mercury is between the air and earth realms - between the heaven and the earth. He is the teacher now teaching the basics and essentials of the jujutsu society. he is the head, the King and is supposed to know better than other because no one is above the God King.

Satoru is known to eat sweets, he has a sweet tooth just like how Indra indulges in Soma rasha before wars because it fuels him adds vigor - Gojo consuming sweets to stimulate his brain but ultimately getting a sweet tooth - which unsurprisingly Indra is known to be a very regular customer of Soma aswell.

It's surprising how the nakshatras manifest through characters. More info in future. I don't think i'll be considering the moon sign and the rest of the chart yet as we know very little of gojo satoru even though the significant events of his past does strongly show his moon nakshatra purva bhadrapada where one has no limitations and is free but needs to reign themselves in to pass through the spiritual tests and attain self mastery. i think i'll be making another post on that later on.

The Serpents Hold // Chapter Six

Summary: When Sebastian turns to dark magic to cure his sister, Nova and Ominis find themselves reluctantly thrust into a partnership to aid him. Amid the disapproval of Ominis' family, Nova wrestles with her growing feelings for him and also with the nagging suspicion that Ominis knows more about Anne's condition than he's letting on.

"Gran was showing me around Blackdown Hills, where she used to play with wild beasts as a little girl—"

Nova was partially tuned into Poppy's recounting of her half-term break, her emerald cloak and tie inconspicuously concealed beneath the Hufflepuff table. Her head was propped in her hand as she picked at the pastry on her plate, reducing its flaky layers to fine dust.

"We got the kneazle untangled from the thorns... We named it... Nova, are you listening?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, Poppy. I was just, uh..." She gestured towards her demolished breakfast. "Lost in thought, I suppose. You caught a kneazle?"

"Rescued!" Poppy corrected indignantly, "We managed to save the kneazle, and I named her Nova."

"Kneazle-Nova is lucky to have crossed paths with you," Nova smiled warmly, brushing the lingering crumbs from her fingers back onto the plate. "We both are."

Poppy's eyes sparkled as she beamed back at her, "How was your break? Feldcroft must have been lovely. Anne is such a gem, isn't she? We used to share an astronomy class. How's she doing?"

Nova's thoughts were still untangling from their earlier wanderings, making it a challenge to keep up with the rapid-fire questions. "Honestly, it wasn't great," she confessed. "I didn't get much time with Anne before her uncle and Sebastian got into a massive argument. I haven't seen him since everyone returned, and I'm getting worried."

"Have you seen Ominis?" Poppy asked, her words cutting through a large bite of croissant. "They're usually joined at the hip, you could ask him."

Nova's expression twisted into a grimace. "I make a point of avoiding him if possible. He tolerates me at best and doesn't exactly approve of our friendship."

"Because you're such a bad influence?" Poppy snorted, and Nova tried not to take offence. "Ominis is nice, I'm sure he'll help. I saw him heading to the Dark Arts Tower earlier. Do you want me to help you find him?"

"It's fine. I can tell you're eager to say hello to all your beasts."

Following breakfast, Nova dawdled at the threshold of the Undercroft. She had steered clear since Ominis had issued his threats, but it was the only unexplored corner of the castle in her search for Sebastian. Flicking her wand over the gilded symbols, she clung to the hope Ominis wasn't down there with him. That hope shattered the moment she stepped into the dusty abyss, instantly assaulted by the intensity of his deranged voice.

"Anything to do with the dark arts should be avoided, Sebastian. It's too risky."

"At this point, anything to do with Salazar Slytherin is worth the risk," Sebastian countered, his agitated footsteps pacing restlessly between the candlelit pillars.

"Well, I don't see it that way. I won't entertain further discussion on the matter. I'm sorry."

Nova might as well have been a ghost. Ominis strode past her with a silent indifference—an improvement, she had to admit, from their first encounter in the Undercroft.

"What was that about?" she joined Sebastian at a makeshift desk, creatively assembled from a precarious stack of trunks. "Is this where you've been for the past day? Sebastian, I was worried."

"I'm sorry," he attempted to console her with something resembling a hug, but his eyes and palm remained glued on scraps of parchment scattered across the worktop. "That book we stole states that Salazar Slytherin has a scriptorium here in Hogwarts. It turns out Ominis has known about it this whole time."

"A scriptorium?"

"Yes, there has to be a treasure trove of information on dark magic in there. There has to be some insight into curses." His initial enthusiasm gave way to a more solemn expression as he collapsed onto a chair. "Ominis wants no part in it, but only an heir of Slytherin can find the entrance. Whatever's in that room might hold the answers for Anne."

Nova nudged aside the manuscript, settling atop the trunk to face him. "Ominis does have a point, Sebastian. While a cure for Anne is the best-case scenario, have you considered the worst-case?"

"As I said to him, it's worth the risk." Sebastian dismissed her concern with a wave of his hand. "There is far more to dark magic than most people realise, the Gaunt's know this all too well."

Nova's curiosity stirred at his words. Ominis had implied that his comprehension of dark magic revolved solely around Soloman's time as an auror.

"What do you mean by that?"

Sebastian ran a nervous hand through his wild hair. "I shouldn't have told you about Ominis' family history in the library," his words escaped rapidly, as if fighting to restrain himself from divulging more. "He gave me quite a scolding."

Nova's gave him a sheepish smile. "To be fair, I didn't mention anything to do with the whole marriage arrangement. He's just annoyingly perceptive."

"You're not wrong." His eyes darted toward the exit to ensure Ominis had left. "Look, if you promise not to breathe a word..."

"I promise," Nova said, crossing her heart with her fingers, fully aware that her track record for keeping secrets was far from flawless.

"Ominis was schooled in dark magic by his family. Have you heard of the Cruciatus Curse?"

"Is that one of the unforgivables? Ominis told me a little."

"It's the curse that inflicts unbearable pain on its victims," Sebastian explained. "His parents and brother use it on muggles for sport. They forced Ominis to cast it when he was just a child; when he refused, they subjected him to it themselves."

Guilt coiled in the pit of her stomach. No wonder he was so adamant about keeping away from dark magic.

 "The rift between him and his family only widened from there until I came along," Sebastian continued. "He trusts me, and more often than not, he listens to what I have to say. I'm sure I can convince him to help."

"I don't think it's fair for Ominis to forbid you from exploring options to save Anne. But it's also unfair to involve him, given his past. Is there anything in that book that doesn't drag him into it?"

"Nothing else that remotely relates to dark curses," he sighed, unbothered by her judgment. "Although, there's a whole section dedicated to secret rooms in Hogwarts." He angled the book to better catch the candlelight. "Take a look at this, the Room of Requirement."

The room features a unique capability to furnish or transform itself into precisely what a witch or wizard unequivocally requires at any given moment.

"Really?" Nova remained unconvinced. "Surely, a room like that would be common knowledge by now?"

"I'm not so sure; look here." Sebastian persisted, gesturing to another section of the passage.

To access the room, it is necessary to cross the vicinity of the door repeatedly, passing it three times while maintaining a focused intention for the desired outcome.

"According to this map, it should be located on the seventh floor of the astronomy tower, right across from the tapestry of Barnabus the Barmy."

"Where the toilets are?"

"What toilets?"

"Just... the toilets," Nova repeated with a shrug. "The ones across from the tapestry."

Sebastian's forehead creased in confusion. "Nova, there are no toilets across from the tapestry."

"Yes, there is," she insisted. "During my first astrology class, Professor Shah wouldn't let me go to the toilet. By the time the class finished, I was desperate, so I ran down that corridor—"

Her sentence came to a screeching halt in realisation, and her eyes locked onto Sebastian's, both their mouths agape in gleeful delirium.

Sunlight poured into the corridor from the adjacent staircase as Nova and Sebastian stood facing the deceptively ordinary wall. Sebastian rapped his knuckles against the stone before pressing his ear to the cold surface, listening intently. After a moment, he took a step back, shaking his head.

"Well, what are you needing?" Nova asked, searching along the dents and contours of the stonework for any hidden seams.

"I need access to a scriptorium that harbours cures for dark and debilitating curses."

"Right... Well, concentrate on... that. And walk past three times," she urged, giving him a gentle push to start pacing along the length of the corridor.

"Why in Merlin's name were you pacing back and forth like a caged lion if you needed a piss?" his voice echoed through the corridor much louder than necessary.

"It was my first week, Sebastian; I didn't know where the fuck I was."

He laughed, though his amusement gradually waned as he continued to pace, realising that no hidden door was materialising.

"Perhaps the room doesn't know how to fix a curse," Nova said as Sebastian came to a miserable halt. "Or maybe it only listens to me," she added, pushing him against the tapestry before darting off to the other end of the corridor. "I need a weeeeeeeee!" she bellowed as she sprinted back and forth.

Sebastian snatched the hood of her cloak and flung her behind him. "I need a scriptorium that holds cures for dark curseeeees!" he hollered with equal enthusiasm as he sprinted to the end of the passage, colliding with the wall and using the impact's momentum to throw himself back down the corridor.

He hurtled toward Nova, who extended her arm in an attempt to slow him down. Their collision sent them both tumbling to the ground in a wild entanglement of limbs, the force of the impact knocking the breath out of them.

"Well, it would have been a bloody miracle if that worked," Sebastian choked out between laughter as they both lay winded on the floor. He gave a thumbs-up to a confused Ravenclaw, who cautiously sidestepped their sprawled bodies. "I should get to class. I'll revisit the scriptorium topic with Ominis later," he groaned as he rose to his feet. Extending a hand as he helped Nova up from the floor. "And if he doesn't agree... well... he's not the only heir."

Nova watched Sebastian vanish around the corner, her elation transforming into a rising tide of panic. Hadn't he just told her about Ominis' family's reputation for torture? They were clearly very dark wizards. Sebastian was putting himself in grave danger.

Nova wriggled through the throng of bodies ambling into the classroom, diving to secure the seat beside Ominis.

There were several factors to the lethargy that hung over their history of magic class, but chiefly among them was Professor Binn's complete lack of direct engagement with his students. The hypnotic drone of his voice kicked into gear, and eyelids began drooping under the weight of the monotonous lecture.

Ominis folded his arms and rested them on his open textbook, snuggling into the bunched fabric from his sleeves. His charmed quill danced frantically across his parchment, diligently scribbling down vital notes while he stole a nap. Beside him, Nova absently scratched at the etchings on their desk, adding to the collection of inscriptions left by countless generations of tired students.

She let slip a quiet sigh, her eyes flitting over to Ominis as she wrestled with the best way to broach the subject of Sebastian. His gentle breaths tousled his typically well-kept hair, strands cascading untidily across his forehead. Nova resisted the temptation to whip out her quill and play connect-the-dots with the splatter of beauty marks on his cheek, instead captivated by how closely they resembled Ursa Major.

His disembodied quill darted across the desk, leaving behind a hastily scrawled note on her parchment.

Stop staring at me.

A deep flush of embarrassment stained her cheeks.

"I need to talk to you," she whispered, edging herself closer to him, her voice dropping to a murmur, "It's about Sebastian."

If this is about the scriptorium, I don't want to hear it.

She had barely finished reading his scribbled message before the quill scratched out every word in an erratic frenzy, leaving no trace of the message behind.

"This is important, Ominis. I'm on your side."

He continued to feign sleep and she released an exasperated groan, unintentionally rousing a pair of slumbering witches suspended in mid-scribble.

Class finally ended, and Nova hurriedly packed up, struggling to keep pace with Ominis while everyone else was still rubbing sleep from their eyes. He stormed to a secluded corner behind a stairwell, then promptly turned around to face her.

"You have one minute."

"Sebastian told me about the scriptorium—"

"It's a cesspit of dark magic. It's staying untouched," he interrupted, "He can't get near it without me, and I won't change my mind."

He began to walk away, but Nova's fingers tightened around the crook of his elbow. "Ominis, listen to me," she snapped. She anticipated resistance and was taken aback when he remained silent. "He didn't go into details, but he said you're not the only descendant. I think he's planning to reach out to your brother."

Ominis' pallid features turned an even more ghostly shade of white; he looked like he was going to be sick. "We can't allow him to do that," his voice strained as he fought to suppress a tremor.

"I know," Nova replied, comforted by his use of the word we. "I've been mulling it over all morning, and from where I stand, there are only two options." She spoke softly as she proposed the first option: "You unlock the scriptorium, and we allow him to go in alone." She knew he wouldn't favour this choice.

"He'll die."

"You can't know that for sure."

"I can," he murmured, his eyes squeezing shut as he dragged his fingertips down his face. "It happened to my aunt, Noctua. She shared my beliefs and disagreed with the family's use of dark magic. She hoped to convince my family there was more to Salazar Slytherin than worshipping pureblood status. She'd heard of this scriptorium and thought its contents might shed some light. She wrote to my father about her efforts to gain access, and then… vanished."

Their classmates passed by, casting concerned glances at the intense exchange under the stairs. Nova gently tugged on Ominis' sleeve, coaxing him closer into the privacy of the corner until their bodies were nearly touching.

"Noctua ventured down this path with good intentions and paid with her life," Ominis said quietly. "I don't want history to repeat itself."

She transitioned to the second option, "Your aunt ventured in alone, but three wands are better than one. We could do this together. Honour your aunt's memory by completing what she started and steer Sebastian away from self-destruction along the way."

He scratched the back of his neck as he mulled over the options. "This isn't your fight. I appreciate the warning, but if you want to walk away now, you can do so."

"I'm not going anywhere," she told him indignantly, offended by another attempt to distance her from Sebastian, but his features softened to something resembling relief rather than resistance.

"Good. I feel more at ease knowing you're on my side."

disclaimer: this is all based on my experience and im sure there are other users with better tips than me so DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR GOSPEL BAHAHA

(also I'm going to assume you reached out to me because you want to start a kpop writing blog and not smth else, so all these tips are obv specific to writing blogs. I also don't know how experienced u are w Tumblr so I might say some obvious things,, sorry if you already know most of these things!!)

anyway tumblr is actually really intuitive and after about two days I honestly think you'll get it (probably even within a day tbh). here are some quick steps I feel like make sense in my mind:

find a url (if you're starting a kpop writing blog,, most people seem to include the name/a reference to their bias but in my case i kinda just went w my name and played around w it until I liked it 😭 you can also search for "url ideas" in tumblr if you're having trouble!!) keep in mind you can literally change it at any point in time so don't worry about choosing the -perfect- one

set up your blog! most of the time, people have a navigation post (the pinned post where everything is linked so readers can navigate ur blog easily), a masterlist (a post that shows everything you've ever written), a wip list (a post that lists all your works in progress, so fics you're currently writing and want to publish in the near future). additionally, people have a post about themselves (like an about me section with blog rules and stuff. this is my old old one). personally, i have a carrd right now (this is mine here) and you'll find other users have one or the other!

set up your navigation post: hyperlink honestly everyone's different (btw don't worry about taking these tips too seriously bc honestly u should do whatever you want on your blog — it's yours after all!!) but I think most people include their name, pronouns, age (sometimes), timezone (sometimes) and hyperlinks to their masterlist + wip list.

how to hyperlink im sure you've done it before for school, but it's really easy! here's a demonstration — this link will send you to my navi, and this link will send you to one of my fics! to do it, you just need to copy the link of whatever post you're trying to hyperlink (three dots in the top right of the post -> "copy link"), typesomething, double click onto the word you're trying to link it to, tap the 🔗 button, and copy the link into that! (in this example, it'd look like this: something.)

how to make ur navi neat/pretty personally, I used to just search for moodboards (on tumblr) and pick 3 photos that I really liked (obviously give credit to whoever made the moodboard!). what I have now is just something that I designed but you can have one or the other, it doesn't really matter! other tips I think I'd suggest is to keep it as simple as possible; you can embellish it later but make sure it's easy to read and people can see all the links! I really like searching for "symbols" on Tumblr, and then there are cute lil symbols u can add to your post :) or just use emojis! or dashes! this might be a little ahead, but I have a tutorial on gradient text if you really care, but maybe focus on the base first :D just as an example, my moot @.hazyyu has a really pretty navi!

apply the same principles to your masterlist + wip list + about me just search for symbols, add whatever images you think look pretty, search for "line breaks" on Tumblr and there are pictures of links you can use to divide stuff up! making a carrd is easy but time-consuming (just search on YouTube "carrd tutorial")

there are other caveats to a writing blog, but those were just the basics! here are some other things I thought I could mention:

a permanent taglist is a list of people you tag every single time you publish a story/update it (for the purpose of them being notified every time you post) — sometimes people will ask u to "add me to your permanent taglist!" which just means tag them every time you post a story. personally, I have a google form for anyone that wants to be on the permanent taglist, but I didn't do that initially — I used to just wait until people sent in an ask asking to be on it and then I'd have a separate post with everyone who did. for example, this was my old one! doesn't matter whichever approach you do ^^

people also organise their blog via the hashtags I do this too! it's so much easier that way :)) for example, every time I get an ask, I tag it with "#ask" (umm a lot of people are much more creative w their tags but personally icb lmaoo — here's an example of my friend who used a different tag and it's really pretty!). if you want help with organising your blog w tags, here's an explanation I wrote a while back!

if you want help promoting your work, you should consider joining a few networks! these are basically big big blogs that reblog all your work so more people can see ur stuff ^^ here are some of the ones I'm a part of: kflixnet, enhanet, k-labels!

you'll meet other users along the way and call them your moots; most of the time this just means you interact w them a lot via asks/dms. personally I'm not really active and I kinda find it hard to keep track of a lot of moots so I stick to myself and interact w anyone that comes my way!! but bae u can do whatever u want!! go find blogs of people that seem rlly cool and send an ask and just see where it goes; just don't badger people, be nice and I think you'll pick up on sm things naturally!!!

Fizz, I've been really thinking about moving my art from Insta to Tumblr but i dont really know how to start. Do i just post anything or do i plan it out? How did you start out?

Just posting anything is really my only plan when it comes to Tumblr! Don't be afraid, Tumblr really is the only social media site where you can post anything, and have it be found by people looking exactly for that.

I guess the only thing I really should tell you is to be mindful and aware of how tagging works on Tumblr;

You'll notice that I'm someone who tags pretty heavily on my posts, with things like fandoms spelled a little differently a few times, all individual characters even mentioned in the post, etc. This is for the search system here on Tumblr! It works pretty okay here. People can find exactly the kind of content they want this way.

But also, you'll see other tags that don't really mean anything to the post in specific: things like my personal tags. My "fizzles (verb)" tags are for archiving purposes on my blog, and if anything, available for if people want to curate their experience of my blog. If you only want to see me post art, you can blacklist my other tags so only posts tagged as "fizzles draws" show up on your dash!

And another thing about blacklisting I've seen a few people struggle with is censoring words in tags (since posting or saying words like that on other sites were an easy way to get banned). This is unfortunately counterproductive here on Tumblr, because the blacklist system can't pick up when you spell words using symbols or putting slashes between the letters. Be sure to spell out exactly what you mean to keep everyone safe. You won't get banned here for it.

One more tiny thing I've seen about tags that new users struggle with; Tumblr people talk in the tags. Sometimes additional information or comments are BEST if left in tags as opposed to in the body of the post. We love combing through notes on a post to look for nice compliments or funny jokes in tags, it's like looking for presents left by other users! It's a good habit to get into reading tags, since I myself leave stuff in tags that doesn't get read.

Stars are VERY prominent with them to,after when Deku said that sus line,he looks up at a star,and saids,he wants it to change,ya know,there is also another song about Katsuki and Deku,Its Polaris. It being about Deku and Katsuki,makes a lot of sense.

Heres why;

When Katsuki bullied Deku,he was scar-ed.

Which is..f***ing heart breaking.. Alright let me bring this up,

Yes, Izuku's exhaustion and pain is the primary focus, but those tiny details imply that Katsuki Bakugou, the guy who has had a strict bedtime and diet his whole life, who puts every bit of effort into his own health, has completely disregarded his self-care to go after Izuku. Which also implies that his body didn't just move on its own when he risked his life for Izuku. It's further evidence that he isn't just trying to atone for his own sake. This guy straight up stopped taking care of himself because he was WORRIED for Izuku. He stopped sleeping in favor of searching. He reaggravated a very serious injury (one that he got already protecting Izuku) in order to protect him AGAIN.

Which..Makes sense... It shows more of a..Softer caring side of Bakugou. It explains it itself.

But what is really interesting and important is,that,He said "I've decided I will follow my heart,promise yours will also be right near me!" Which means,it wasn't just not his mortal compass..It was also where his,Heart was leading him too..

Which means,Bakugou doesn't just want to mend things for sake of mortality and heroism,but also,it's because..He feels that he should. And I would say he feeling like he should do this because he feels bad for deku,BUT,he said he wants deku heart to stay near his..which means:

hello and welcome to me analyzing the hell out of this panel from 326 for absolutely no reason!

i dunno i just think this is a great photo. im only looking at the picture because i have absolutely no clue what the words say, and because a picture says a thousand words and all that.

anyway i'm not gonna focus on all of the panel because i think most of it is just 1-A being badass, but i am going to focus on the front row: bakugou, deku, todoroki, iida, and uraraka.

going from least to most important to the panel:

uraraka: why is she so far back? i don't know. it could be height, it's probably just height. but i also think it could be because after her honestly groundbreaking speech, the focus is off her. it's not often a character gets 2 and a half chapters to themselves unless you're deku or a fight scene. uraraka's moment was so unlike anything a bnha girl has gotten before, and it was amazing to see her finally be a symbol of hope. but the thing about hope is that it kind of lurks in the sidelines, like how it's at the bottom of Pandora's Box. It only comes out when it's needed, and is otherwise a support pillar. so uraraka stays closer to the back, there for support when she's needed. a lot like her general role in the manga, a hero for heroes.

iida: i honestly think this is also just height. seriously, i am reading way to deep into this panel and i know that. but analyzing is super fun. this last arc has been about Class 1-A especially supporting deku and bringing him back from the brink of vigilantism, that fine line between hero and villain (from a pro's perspective, of course). in actuality hero and villain are extremely blurred lines, something that iida, actually, showed us during the stain arc. and when he reached his hand out to deku, it was like he was becoming an ingenium he could be proud of. and iida's continued holding deku's hand, leading him through the crowd of civilians and being there for him. so iida gets to be closer to deku, since he's one of deku's biggest guiding hands right now, and a guiding hand for all of class 1-A.

todoroki: we got a bit of light shining on how all might is doing, and we've gotten some snippets of todoroki and his team and how they're going to start their search for and fight against dabi. todoroki gets that spot just behind deku because, and i think i've said this before, i believe he's going to start getting some more focus in these next arcs. he’s also fixing his gloves, like he’s getting ready for a fight, or for some time in the spotlight. the dabi/touya journey and todoroki, endeavor, and hawks' search for him has barely even started. i think there's going to be a bit of focus on that, and hopefully also on todoroki himself. he hasn't really had a moment with deku, he's been oddly absent in the last arc. he's the only one of deku's closest friends who didn't get some kind of bigger moment with him. and i think that's because his time is coming. whether it's with deku or not, todoroki is going to get some well-deserved time in the spotlight soon. im almost sure of it.

bakugou: oh my god this is the one i am reading the way too deepest into. but i cannot get over how he looks in this picture. i've been rereading manga chapters recently and when horikoshi said he'd handle bakugou with care he really fucking did. bakugou looks so much softer in the manga than in the anime, the care given by both HK and deku really shows. and bakugou is especially soft these days. he's calmer now, a simple pillar of strength for deku to lean on whenever he gets tired. someone deku can always count on when he needs help. and most importantly, i am praying that it's not just a coincidence that bakugou's hand is open, palm up, and outstretched. the same way deku once held his hand out to bakugou, tried to show bakugou that he doesn't have to be strong all the time, that he can ask for help, lean on people sometimes. and now bakugou is the one telling that to deku, reminding him that he is not alone. bakugou's hand is outstretched, standing at deku’s shoulder, backing away from the spotlight he used to believe he was under and simply waiting for deku to talk to him when he's ready. because bakugou’s ready, reaching out his hand, waiting for deku to take it.

and finally, deku: first of all, he took a bath. kaminari is doing a victory dance in the background. the fandom is rejoicing. he finally took a bath and now he's back to being a clean adorable boy. deku is the one person i'm sure i'm not reading into. he's posing in the way he always used to in the beginning of the manga, face determined and hand in a fist at his chest. that's how we know our deku is back. he's back to putting his plus ultra effort into everything, going back to being just as determined as he was in the beginning of a manga. deku is a hero now, and he's finally starting to accept help from people and become the symbol of peace he's always been meant to be. he's finally realizing that he doesn't have to be strong for everyone just because he's all might's successor. all might couldn't be strong for everyone, either, as we've seen in this chapter. so deku puts his hand back into a fist, the determined look is back in his eyes, and he is ready for whatever comes next, with all of his friends at his back.

lastly, i want to point out that all might is directly between bakugou and deku. deku is in front, bakugou is at his shoulder, and all might is between them. it's as if the panel is pinpointing just who deku's heroes are, the ones who are standing behind him and will always have his back. the one who turned him into a hero from nothing, and the one who he can turn to when he needs his own hero. bakugou is deku's amazing person, closer to him than even all might, right at his shoulder. his image of victory. and all might is both of their heroes, in between and behind both of them, a hero from far away. all might stands victorious behind them. in some ways this panel is deku with all his heroes: uraraka, iida, Class 1-A, and of course his personal heroes, the closest ones to his heart, bakugou and all might.

point is, i've been doing too much AP Lang and I can't stop analyzing things. absolutely obsessed with this panel. to all the people who actually read all of this, thank you for reading my incoherent english-teacher style rants. im sure most of this panel was about height and what looked pretty, but there had to be some symbolism in there too.

Unworthy

I don't know about you guys, but all of the scenes where Casteel says to Poppy how incredibly unworthy he is of her, live rent free in my head. So as I attempted to reread some of them again I discovered something interesting.

I used my kindle app to search for the word unworthy in all of the books in the series. Here are the results:

From Blood and Ash - According to my kindle app, the word unworthy was used 31 times in this book. Now, what's so interesting about it, is the fact that the vast majority of it refers to Poppy wondering if she will be found worthy of her ascension or not, or it was used to mention the other maiden who, according to Duchess Teerman, should be deemed unworthy to ascend.

Toward the end of book one there are two exceptions. The penultimate usage of this word is in chapter 33, when Poppy asks Hawke/Casteel to stay with her for the night, right after arriving in New Haven. It's the very first time he uses the word in this context. That's where it all starts to change.

The very last time we see it in book one is in the same chapter, when they have sex for the first time and right before don't forget that this was real scene. This is the moment when Poppy states that it doesn't matter to her if the gods would find her unworthy anymore. It's the moment she decides that both she and Hawke/Casteel are worthy of expieriencing life.

Let's move on to A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. The word was used only four times in this book. First usage is very similar to the last one in FBAA. Second one is about the first maiden. The last two are just Casteel at his finest.

This one is probably my favorite. It's right before the feeding happens, and Poppy finally admits to Casteel that she indeed cares about him. This scene had me in tears.

And the last one in book two is the wedding ceremony.

You may think that this is nothing new or exciting, but I really love this transition. How it went from Poppy pondering if she will be deemed unworthy, to never again worrying about it. How Casteel took the lead in using this word (and in a whole different way and meaning). From this moment the word unworthy is mainly used by him. In The Crown of Gilded Bones the word was also used four times. First one is the memory of the wedding ceremony, when Poppy wakes up hungry after her "ascention". The other three are just another situations where Casteel is in awe of Poppy.

Well, that's pretty much all I wanted to say, but if we would take a closer look at this, then we would also discover, that the word worthy is an interesting case as well. Over the course of the story we see how the word unworthy gives way to the word worthy. It becomes more frequently used in subsequent books than the former. The word worthy is also used as the last of the two in TCOGB, when Poppy ensures Casteel that he is worthy of her and everything that they have.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, I probably am, but I really like the symbolism of this occurrence. It shows the journey of their characters and their relationship, how it changed and formed into something beautiful and complex, something that Poppy doesn't need to be ashamed of or hide in fear of being deemed undeserving.

I really hope my incoherent rambling makes sense.

Ah, I didn't realise. I just re-watched Furious Fu and Su-Han said something like, "Get into your yin-yang pairs and go in the box, kwamis." But you probably know more than me; I trust you! 1. Anon. Anon. Anon look at me. You are one of my favorite people in the fandom.

2. Look I'm not really one for design so when I had an idea for a Blue Jay Miraculous and how to integrate that bluejay look into the character's design already I wasn't gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.

3. So the exact line that Su-Han says -- and you're correct, I did miss this -- is, "That's enough! Kwamis, get in ying-yang patterns and back inside the box!"

So as I understand it, which I may be wrong, but there's three layers to the Chinese Miracle Box. The yin-yang layer -- Ladybug and Chat Noir. The Chinese Zodiac layer -- the Zodiac kwamis. And most subtly, the wuxing layer (sometimes wu xing), which is the five other Miraculous: Bee, Fox, Turtle, Peacock, Butterfly. The wuxing is the Chinese elemental system, and it also correlates to a bunch of other stuff: planets, seasons, etc. But there are 5 elements in the wuxing: water, fire, earth, metal, wood. (I don't think I got those in the right order.)

Now, there's a lot of criticism to be had over this and I'm not doing that criticism right now; there are smarter people I can reblog from who have done that. But as I understand it, the zodiac animals are all associated with both an element of the wuxing and either Yin or Yang. There are diagrams but I don't totally understand it and I'm not gonna spread something that might be wrong.

So Plagg and Tikki are automatically paired, and then the kwamis are all paired as well because there's 2 zodiac animals* associated with each element and they're paired off yin-yang.

*I believe that there's 4 zodiac animals associated with earth? I might be wrong.

All this is to say, I think the Fox, Turtle, Bee, Peacock, and Butterfly are the exception to this rule. Again, this maybe wasn't handled the most gracefully within the show, so it's maybe not actually set up that way within the show. But, as I understand it, that's how it theoretically should be if we fill in the gaps.

(Again, this is all research I did for a fic I'm writing, and most of it didn't get used, but it's important within the fic that the Turtle Miraculous holder does not have a partner.)

Freeze Jay's power, I think, would be almost a truth serum against a person: anything they say, they have to be honest about. Based on a quick google search, bluejays symbolize both communication and deceit; they symbolize the need to communicate better. It also feels like a very Snart power to have; very tricky, but balances well with him because he has to focus more on truth than being slippery.

Mick, on the other hand, is already rather blunt and forthcoming, not eloquent at all, while the all knowing Interwebs says that cardinals symbolize friendship. I feel like for him what might be better is a telepathy power, where he can link to one other specific person. Still lots of room for him to grow within that power, especially under a plan that would necessitate him working with someone he doesn't like very much or telepathically bonding with who they're fighting against.

(Why can I only come up with decent Miraculous powers when I'm writing a niche crossover? Why am I like this?)

To be honest I have no idea what Cardinal!Mick would look like, or what his name would be, so I would not hold my breath on that.

Akaashi keiji

He makes sure everyone knows that you're deaf if they ever want to talk to you

He is always respectful and makes sure to never scare you by randomly touching you

He knows a little sign language but you two mostly write or text each other

He loves to kiss you on your ears and neck

He actually loves to hear you laugh

You always say you have a weird laugh but he doesnt agree

He likes to hold your hand when you two are out in public

He doesn't really like to baby you though since he knows you are capable of being independent

But please rely on him if you need to

If you ever get stressed or anything he is the type to pull you away from the situation and comfort you

You and keiji were on a date getting crepes, you got banana and he got strawberry but you would often take bites out of each others, keiji leaned forward taking a bite of your crepe and getting whip cream on his nose which made you laugh

Your loud laugh made him smile but he glanced around seeing people stare at you, he hoped you didnt notice but dadly you did and quickly covered your mouth with your hand now overthinking and tears started to brim in your eyes but you jumped when you felt a soft hand on yours.

You looked up and saw keiji texting on his phone so you pulled out yours to see what exactly he wanted to say.

"let's take our crepes to go and take a walk? I love you."

You looked up only to see the male softly smiling at you before you gave a happy nod. You two decided to walk around the park hands held tightly as Akaashi talked to you about volleyball making sure to talk slow enough for you to read his lips.

Bokuto koutaro

He had no idea when you two first went out

He is always showing you off like a trophy though

"MY BABY IS THE CUTEST THING EVER! LOOK AT THEM!"

Even though you cant hear him he is still super loud around you

He sometimes forgets you are deaf so when you stare blankly after he just ranted for ten minutes awaiting your response he realizes that he spoke way too fast for you

You somehow taught him sign language but you two also created your own special symbols that only you two know

If you use the symbol during a game he is going to be super pumped

the others drag you to him if he is in emo mode

He likes your voice

He knows talking is hard but he just wants to hear you say his name

With a lot of speech therapy you fulfilled his wish and he knew right there that he wanted to marry you

It was an off day for him, he wasn't playing as well as he nirnally was and that was cause you were late to his match. Every second he got he would searched the crowd for you and miss the ball.

The team lost the first set and something needed to change before they lost the game, as bokuto sat on the bench drinking water he couldnt help but think of you.

Luckily akaashi had your number and just before bokuto was about to get back to the game he heard the doors swing open and his name called

"KOUTARO!"

His eyes landed on you who was rushing to him while panting, his entire body froze as he watched you and his ears were ringing as tears rolled down his now red face. He thought he was dreaming but you did it again when you nearly tacked him in a hug

"koutaro! M' sorry!"

Bokuto shakily wrapped his arms around you tightly now peppering kisses all over your head and face when you looked at him.

"you- you said my name! Ah! You're here! Did you run here you look so tired! Did you come to see me win? Haha I can't lose now can I?"

Bokuto was so excited and rambling so you simply yanked him down to your level before selling your lips against his.

That definitely perked him up and before you knew it the male was energized and ready to win the game.

His lucky charm was hear after all

Kuroo testuro

He is pretty goofy with you

He loves physical touches to let you know he loves you

Honestly he is the type to pull your cheeks and watch you whine about it

He likes to playfully tease you by calling you his little mouse

He is also a fan of ear kisses

Always kisses your ears or licking your ear lobes

If you aren't paying attention to him or zoned out that's how he gets your attention

He makes sure you are taken care of though

If anyone was to bully you he would definitely get pissed

He likes dates at home where you two just watch tv

Always makes sure subtitles are on no matter what

Knows a little bit of sign language just small stuff

You two mostly use your ability to read lips

He likes when you watch him practice and tends to work extra hard

Please say his name

He doesn't care what you sound like he just wants you to say his name or laugh with him

Your laugh makes him grin so much

He likes your cute little whines and whimpers the most

He is a teasing demon

"what's wrong little mouse? You look so red and flushed"

Kuroo made sure to talk slow so you can clearly read each and every word, you sat in his lap facing him while he waited for the others to come into the gym for practice.

He normally isn't one to show up early but he wanted alone time with you, with a shaky breath a small whimper escaped you as the male leaned forward trailing his tongue along your ear now running his fingers along your waist under your shirt.

"you can't hear me, but I love you so much"

His breath on your ears gave you shivers before you slowly trailed your hands along his chest under his shirt. He was going to kiss you but the sounds of the gym doors sliding open startled him and he pulled back now simply pressing you close to his chest.

You glanced and saw yaku and lev walk in which made you jump lightly and gripped kuroo's jacket lightly before looking up at him as he simply kissed your head.

"yeah I know, we can play later for now me a good mouse and watch your kitty cat practice" as he lifted you off his lap and onto the bench he couldn't help but feel annoyance as more members walked into the gym..damn it those cockblockers.

Tsukishima kei

He pretends he's not over protective but he is

No one is allowed to get a foot close to you unless they want to get the death glare

You are to hold his hand wherever you two go

He made a playlist for you and made sure all the songs had a loud bass so you can feel the vibrations against your ears

He loves listening to music with you and usually uses a speaker so you can touch it and feel it

He does pick on you but only he can do that

If he needs something and you aren't looking at him he will touch your hand or reach to touch your face

"oi, look at me more idiot. How are you supposed to know what I'm saying if you don't?"

He likes to make you wear his jacket all the time so everyone knows who you belong to

Any bullies you get will be dealt with

He loves to kiss all over your face when you two are alone

Mostly cause it makes you laugh

Will use sign language with you if he wants to say something embarrassingly sweet infront of people

Your body in his jacket made his heart swell, you decided to join him during practice and watch him, this only made him more determined to impress you though he wouldn't admit that fact. He was pretty busy with practice that he didn't quite notice strangers walking into the gym.

They were probably going to watch the game as well, so when tsukishima did see them walk in he didn't pay it much mind. Before he knew it they were sitting next to you, one on either side of you.

"so, you watching a friend play?"

"maybe a boyfriend?"

Of course you didn't hear them and they just thought you were being rude so one of them roughly tapped your shoulder earning your attention.

You tried to watch his lips move but he was talking to fast, when you started to use sign language that's when it all went to hell.

"oi! You deaf or something?! So you can't hear anything I said! That's rude as hell! Shouldn't you be wearing a special sign that says so?!"

The two started to bother you now pushing you around and it didn't take lone til one of them pushed you off the bench and started to make you cry.

Your panicked sobs echoed in tsukishima's ears before he walked over like an angry bull, all he could see was red and he wasn't afraid to get into a fight.

"hey! The hell do you think your doing?! Leave them the hell alone!"

Tsukishima's tall height scared the bullies away and the blonde quickly scooped you into his arms now looking at your face, he noticed a bruise from when you were shoved.

"damn it, those assholes. Hey look at me! You okay?"

You gave a small nod before tsukishima simply carried you into his arms feeling you wrap your legs around him.

"I'm leaving practice."

With that he walked to the locker room to get changed and get his things with you never leaving his side.

He made sure to be more aware of you and those around you, you were so fragile and small and he didn't want to see you get hurt.

Hinata shoyo

He is willing to fight for you

Like a tiny bodyguard

Loves to hear you talk even if you don't like it

Is willing to learn sign for you

But he is dumb so he mixes up signs

He would rather just talk slowly or write

Gets all serious when someone picks on you

He loves to mouth out super cute things

Kisses all over for days

Please come watch him play

Will try and ask daichi for a time out if you show up late to his match

He doesn't have money but he will give you anything you want

Hinata laughs as you straddled him now tickling his sides, it was supposed to be a netflix date but it quickly turned into a tickling match. Hinata was quickly losing this battle but was having fun anyways, he suddenly flipped you over and pinned your hands above your head not realizing how suggestive this looks

"ah...hah..not funny, my stomach hurts now"

As he looked down at you he found himself staring into your eyes a blush forming on his cheeks. You always looked so cute to him, a cute angel that made his insides tingle.

"you're, so cute."

He couldn't help but laugh at your red face and he released your hands only for you to sit up and hold his face in your hands

"shoyo..cute..too"

Those three words made him jolt and before you know it he buried his face in your neck squealing and holding you close. You can feel his pounding heartbeat against your own and simply smiled

Lev haiba

Okay so for the first month of your relationship he just thought you were a mute

Poor fool thought everytime you didn't respond in some way meant you were mad at him

After crying to yaku who explained that you were deaf he ended up apologizing to you

He still forgets that you are deaf a lot

He likes it when you cling to his clothes when you both are in a crowd

He tries not to talk too fast but sometimes you have to tug him by his shirt to tell him to slow down

Can't sign to save his life

He often used really dramatic gestures to get you to understand at times

He doesn't mean to offend he's just nervous and doesn't know what to say

He loves you to death

Also a S I M P

You want a snack? Write it down he got you

Want his jacket? Oh he's taking it off as we speak

Need him to carry you? Of course he will!

He doesn't like fighting so with bullies he just presents his height and they normally back off

He is a jealous boy though cause kenma and you sign all the time

Lev watched with a pout as kenma moved his hands fluently signing to you, lev couldn't get the grasp of it but kenma learned fast. This bugged lev since his worst thought was that kenma would steal you away from him!

"it's no fair! He has better hair than me!"

His complaining was cut short by yaku who kicked the Russian in the leg, this made lev fall and he let out a pained groan

"yakuuuuu I can't practice right now my partner is being stolen by kenma!"

"idiot! They are obviously hanging around him cause it's easier to talk to kenma than it is you"

This made lev look to you and he soon came up with an idea. He rushed over to you and kenma before softly grabbing your hand.

This made you jump and you looked over in confusion before smiling softly at his joyful expression.

"I know I tend to talk too fast sometimes, but please don't replace me with kenma! I love you so so much!"

He talked slowly making sure you get every single word and he was shocked to hear your laughter, he glanced over at kenma who now walked away not wanting to ruin whatever moment was happening.

"why you laughing?"

You took out a notepad and a pen before starting to write before handing it to him

As he read what you said his heart started to swell.

"silly! I'm not replacing you with kenma! I love you! More than anything!"

He couldn't help but hug you tightly kissing your face over and over again.

"I love you too! You love me too even if I can't sign! Or even if I mess up? Ahhh! I love you so much! Marry me [y/n]!"

You weren't quite sure what he was saying but you knew he was happy and that made you happy.

Hello my friends! This is another meta from season 13. We are still mourning with Dean...

I'm gonna focus in just one episode, because I have a lot of things to say about this one. Obviously, the majority of the things have been already analyzed by the meta community.

But, let's see what we find...

Move on

Remember how the last episode ended, with Dean blowing out his feelings and pain to his brother, so, this episode starts with Sam trying to talk with his brother about that. And by that I mean: Cas.

SAM: Hey. How you feelin’?

[DEAN is working on his laptop. He looks up at SAM, but doesn’t reply.]

Sam understands now that fact he had always suspect, what really means to Dean losing Castiel. But Dean sees it coming and doesn't answer, because he knows he let his pain and mourn talking by themselves, and now he wants to come back to hide behind his walls. But Sam won't let that goes so easy. Another heated discussion about Jack brings the topic back.

SAM: Dean, we can’t hide him forever. And, you know, just keeping him cooped up here isn’t working.

DEAN: Yeah, it is, actually. You wanna know why? Because as long as he’s here, he’s not out there doing God knows what. So what, does this mean that your plan for bringing Mom back isn’t working? ‘Cause I’ll say it again—Mom’s dead, Sam. Lucifer ripped out her freakin’ heart. Now, the sooner you can wrap your head around that, the sooner we can all move on.

Look at this, Sam takes Dean's words and immediately repeats the ask but with another different meaning, aeaning his brother gets immediately. Sam tilts his head, and his eyes are searching for the answer in Dean's face, because he knows he won't have the answer in words from him.

These exchange of gazes is so so important, because Dean is saying "Are you really asking me if I can move on... From CAS?" Because is obvious Sam was implying that, for Dean, losing Cas was more painful and unbearable than losing Mary. "You want to move on, from mom?"

The pause, the coma, is pointing Sam is referring Castiel, not mom. Is not mom the one you want to move on, right?

Dean's silence is priceless, both men talks without talking, and both know what they're talking about. Of course Dean can't move on from Castiel. And Sam knows it. Because he experienced the same with Jess.

And Dean changing the subject after that is saying HE WON'T TALK ABOUT IT.

Lies and Toxicity

We have a beautiful scene between Jack and Sam, in which Jack snaps all the bad things he heard last night. But Sam explains to him, they need his help to bring Mary back, and Jack can connect again with S through the pain of losing their moms. And he gives the kid a tip to conquer Dean's sympathy.

SAM: (...) Listen, if there’s one thing that Dean respects, it’s effort. So come along. Help us out. Let’s go be the good guys.

So we'll see the kid really giving everything in this mission.

Another quote that caught my attention was Jack saying this:

JACK: I thought lying was wrong.

Just came to my mind episode 14x19, when Jack is sick of so much lies and turn the world into 'just truth's real madness!

And another foreshadow in the same episode we will have Cas coming back, they're talking about this ...

DEAN: (...) why’d she come back from the dead and knife his ass?

JACK: People come back?

SAM: When a person dies and their soul can’t move on…

Talking about this in this specific episode has a meaning: the wife, the woman that man loved coming back from the death, is a reflection of Castiel coming back at the end of this episode. Souls that can't move on, is talking about Dean and Castiel's decease.

Another thing that is pointed in this episode is Sam seeing the bad things of John Winchester in his brother.

Castiel in the Empty

As the preamble to Castiel in the Empty, we had this dialogue here...

JACK: My mother… could she be a ghost?

SAM: No, we, um… we burned the body.

DEAN: That’s right, and what gets burned… stays dead.

Dean is saying this to himself because they burnt Cas' body too, but this scene is cut and we jump into the next one: Castiel walking around the Empty.

Then, again, Dean goes with this quote here...

DEAN: So, aside from getting dead, what do Gloria and Wes have in common?

And the scene cuts to Castiel again, emphasis in loved people that was dead, and now comes back from it.

Another interesting scene is Dean finding Gloria's diary of mourning.

SAM: More of the same. Um, he really was into the whole catharsis thing.

DEAN: Yeah, sure. Who wouldn’t be? I mean, it’s like another word for “happy ending”.

Dean shows here he knows exactly what that is, and how you can feel when you lose the love of your life. The "happy ending" is a reference of a suicidal thoughts as another way out from the pain. And as we will see in the next episode, was a way out Dean was considering for himself. Also, the journal was made by John after Mary died, and was made by this widow, after his wife died. Is important because in the interview with MIA (the ship shifter therapist) she will ask Dean if he has a diary.

Sam talks about catharsis, as an important way to process the pain, and he really tried to make his brother to do that at the beginning of the episode. Failing.

MIA: Mm. Most of the people I see are in the same boat. No warning, no goodbye, no closure.

These words play an important role for Sam, Jack and Dean, in loosing their mothers and loosing Castiel.

They exchanged heated words again in front of Mia, Sam accusing Dean because he is not carrying well with the deaths, and we'll have again an indirect question, with second meaning. Sam will be talking about Castiel again. But then, and just like Dean did at the end of the previous episode, Sam will have his blow out about losing Mary. Is a blatant comparison between Romantic Love (CAS/Dean) and Family Love (Sam/Mary).

Sam leaves, and Mia points at Dean. Dean drinks from his flask. He was doing that and eating a lot, as he always does when he loses Cas.

MIA: (...) You’re angry, Dean.

DEAN: And?

MIA: And if you don’t want to do anything about it, that’s your business. But you’re aiming it at everyone in your life.

Dean will take these words and do something about it, at the end of the episode. But, I want to talk a little about visual Narrative here, because while Mia was talking with Dean, there was a picture behind her, with BLUE/GREEN AND RED COLORS (Destiel).

The scene between CAS talking with the empty that had taken his shape is intertwined with the shape shifter that took Dean's shape. This is very meaningful bc both creatures decided to take the protagonists of this love story shapes.

So, the Empty explains where Castiel is, and also, is baffled by the angel that woke him up. Is the first time someone wakes up in the Empty, and the entity is really mad at it.

But Castiel doesn't know why he woke up, so, he went with the first idea: Maybe the Winchesters did some deal or spell. But they didn't.

The Empty represents all the darkness inside of Castiel: his doubts, his depression, his fears, his weakness. So, the only way to keep him there SLEEPING (as the image of depression) is to point at the lack of faith in coming back, or in feeling himself loved or needed.

The following dialogue shows us how smart is our angel.

CASTIEL: Having me awake causes you pain.

COSMIC ENTITY: If you can’t sleep, I can’t sleep. Yeah? And I like sleep. I need sleep.

CASTIEL: Then get rid of me.

COSMIC ENTITY: Oh, should I, should I?

CASTIEL: Send me back to Earth.

Castiel immediately detect the point of it, and tries to give a resolution for both of them.

COSMIC ENTITY: Or I throw you so deep into the Empty that you can’t bother me anymore, hmm?

CASTIEL: Except you know that won’t work, or you would’ve done it already.

COSMIC ENTITY: Pretty smart. Pretty smart, dummy.

CASTIEL: Send… Me… Back.

The first conclusion CAS arrives is by his side. The only way the Empty can get some peace is sending him back to Earth. What Cas doesn't know is, the empty won't come back to sleep, ever again after this.

COSMIC ENTITY: That’s not part of the deal. No, no. Besides, you don’t want to go back.

CASTIEL: Yes, I do. Sam and Dean need me.

COSMIC ENTITY: Oh, save it.

When the Empty says SAVE IT, is because he knows the excuse is making CAS to come back, is not the real one he has in his heart. Oh, save it is not because of that, is because ONE MAN NAMED DEAN WINCHESTER.

Because immediately after this, the Empty mocks him about it...

Look at Castiel's face when the Empty refers to his feelings as TULIPS, because the tulips represents the perfect lover, passion and romanticism. The tulip is a symbol of sincere love. It is an incredibly romantic flower that when giving it you express infatuation, passion, unconditional love, pure love.

So, the Empty is saying here: save it, you are in love, you want to come back because you are in love.

To the Empty, is very disgusting, aberrant, and it annoys him. He qualifies it as "little feelings"

Because he's trying to erase the hopes in Castiel. So, he shows him he knows everything about him, and if he didn't understand at first with the tulips reference, he makes it clear now I KNOW WHO YOU LOVE.

And seeding again the depression, because he needs CAS sleeping or defeated, he continues...

Unrequited Love. The Empty exposes right in front of Cas' eyes the fear of being unrequited. With this, he is trying to show him WHY WOULD YOU COME BACK IF DEAN DOESN'T LOVE YOU BACK? He needs to cut any hopes in the angel.

And after this, he shows CAS l his mistakes, and fears, and regrets, and guilts. All the bad things, all his darkness, to put him back to sleep.

But then, Castiel gets it, he is already saved. And with more energy and hopes inside his heart, he faces the empty again:

CASTIEL You can prance and you can preen and you can scream and yell and remind me of my failings but somehow, I’m awake. And I will stay awake and I will keep you awake until we both go insane. I will fight you. Fight you and fight you for…ever. For eternity.

COSMIC ENTITY No. No.

CASTIEL Release me. Release… me.

Symbolism again! Castiel asking his own darkness and depression, and regrets to release him in that moment, he release himself from all of that and he returns stronger than never.

Lack of Faith

Back to Dean, Jack and Sam with the shape-shifters we can see another interesting visual element, next to Dean: Sunflower.

The sunflower is the symbol of the Sun and symbolizes love and admiration. But also happiness, vitality, positivity and energy. ... For some religions it is a symbol of the one who permanently seeks God, the divine, since the star king symbolizes God.

This could be linked to what Dean means to Cas, but I think is mostly what Cas means to Dean.

But jumping into the dialogues and the symbolism and parallel of having two Deans as we had two Cas, there's a little clue for a foreshadow...

Look at this, the scene is pretty blatant, we have Buddy, Mia's ex, obssesed with her, jealouse of her life, intertwined with the dialogue between Dean and Jack, showing how important Jack is.

So, Buddy is the Empty, Mia is Castiel. And the most important thing in there, is Jack... These are the ingredients and this is the dialogue...

BUDDY: I never stopped looking for you.

JACK: I can’t.

BUDDY: And when I found this place, when I saw all that…

DEAN: Yes, you can.

BUDDY: …warm, fuzzy good you were doing. I couldn’t let you have that.

Buddy is the Empty saying to Mia, CAS, that he will search for him in a future, and he will see his happiness, one of the most important persons to CAS is JACK, that's why the dialogues are mixed here.

DEAN: Sammy believes in you, and when he believes, he’ll go Hell for leather…

BUDDY:

So I took it all away, and it was fun.

DEAN …but you gotta try.

Again, the Empty mirror talking about taking all away from Mia, Castiel's mirror, and we have Dean talking to Jack. This is the foreshadow of 14x08, when the Empty will come for Jack in Heaven.

MIA You’re… you’re a…

BUDDY: What? A monster? Well, so are you. And it’s about time you embraced that. So I’m not gonna kill those boys. You are. You end them, or you die, courtesy of Tweedledee’s silver bullets. So what’s it gonna be, princess?

MIA: Shoot me. Shoot me!

And now we have Castiel's mirror giving her life in exchange for Dean and Jack. Just like CAS will do with his deal with the Empty in 14x08 and his ultimate Sacrifice in 15x18.

Now, the last scene. Sam is ready to move on from having faith but Dean will take the advice that Mia gave him. But in this attempt of stopping Sam from being like him, he will show again one of his deepest feelings...

Dean had lost faith, hopes, because he lost Castiel. And Castiel represented all of that to him.

Sam is worried, and Dean just realized he said it. He had just showed his brother part of his depressive thoughts. And the sadness in his face is all over.

Miscellaneous: The address in Mia's office door was 219, this is a very interesting visual element, is a reference to episode 2x19, "Folsom Prison Blues", in which Sam and Dean were two prisoners, trying to show their innocence. Finally breaking free. As a foreshadow of the emotional prison we will see in Dean's possesion in episode 14x09.

To Conclude:

This episode is full of symbolism and is centered on Castiel and his storyline with the Empty.

The episode shows us too the pain carried by Dean, Jack and Sam in loosing the people they love and how each one of them walks through it in different ways.

Hello Wild Grinders. I'm soooo glad I found a fellow fan! I also wanted to say that I'm astonished by your shipping between Jackknife and Emo Crys. I must ask, why did you decide on it? Who do you also ship? I really appreciate this and I was also thinking that you could post screenshots of them!

anon you really scared me with this ask because it's 2021 and I am the only one *alive* in the wild grinders franchise (the show has been removed from the appstore back in 2019??) It was discontinued without any notice as well; probably because Rob Dyrdek is now married and has a kid and doesn't want them to discover his unsuccessful show in the future psst rob you can give the characters to me, they will be in good hands

Anyways, to answer your question on the ship: Back in either 2013-2015, I was really into fandom culture and tried to find something for Wild Grinders. There was barely anything and lot of the content was just boring posts. There was one user in particular who shipped Jack and Emo together. (They're not active anymore). I wondered why that ship as well, so I began to search into the show a bit deeper.

This is a kids' show from 2008, so I doubt that there were any intentional hints of the ship. However, if you watch the show carefully and learn about it outside of the animation, then you can see that there was something appealing. (For better context about 2008-2011; emo/scene culture was super popular and yaoi began to become popular as well. At least, from what you can read on FictionPress. Basically, even if queer rep was never intended, the show was still living in an era where people were moving away from heteronormative media).

Okay, now that I've said the disclaimer (aka product of the time), I going to  share my findings that I discovered when getting deep into the franchise.

1. Appearances Together

Okay one of the biggest things I have noticed when watching any of the episodes is that Jack Knife and Emo Crys are frequently next to each other (one of the most important ingredients for a ship) Since Wild Grinders doesn’t have character spotlight styled episodes (they try to mash the whole group as a whole or just give Lil’ Rob the spotlight) so having to characters interact in the background is something to take note of. 1/2/3

This was not intentional for shipping purposes (again, kids show), but someone who worked on the show seemed to have slipped in these small details and Tracy or Rob rolled with it. (Something like this has actually happened in SU where someone was able to slowly build up [L]apidot). There are probably more details, but uhhhhhhh I don’t have the episodes for it.

2. Symbolism/Personification

Another thing that I have noticed is that they seem to represent certain pairings (or objects that go together).

An example would be Jack Knife’s description. He is called a ‘Bull-in-a-China-shop.”

Fine china usually refers to porcelain plates. However, if you take a step away, ‘porcelain’ is a word often used for delicate dolls. There used to a time where people would think of East Asians as ‘delicate porcelain dolls.’ (Please for the love of god, don’t call Asians this. It is NOT a compliment). Anyways, Emo Crys is a very fragile character, as well as East Asian. I would not be surprised if this was supposed to be some sort of backhanded way to ‘link’ them. (There’s plenty more ways to do that if you know your history well, but I’m not going to dive into that *scuttles off the stage*). If anything, they could have used a different description to describe Jack being clumsy/easily destroying things.

*Anyways to make it clear: Jack Knife never says anything about Emo Crys being too sensitive/fragile or compares him to a doll if that’s what anyone is thinking. 

Another example of their symbolism is probably in the Wizard of Oz episode, Jack Knife was featured as the scarecrow without brains. (Emo Crys was a wizard, but that’s not important right now). Emo is associated with ravens/crows (it is on his skateboard). Black birds and scarecrows are often tied together.

Something I used to joke about is that since Emo is a vampire, then I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s playfully going after a ‘redneck’ like Jack Knife. (When I say redneck, I do not mean fake ones who are conservative assholes). Vampires want the red blood nom nom.

3. Design

I am going to pull up some late 2000s culture for this one, this is a warning if you have anything against cringe stuff.

Anyways, one of the popular type pairs during 2011 often had a emo with black hair x brunette. (Yes I’m talking about LightxL and DanxPhil). And I just look at these two and just lose my shit because they have *that* specific look.

Pushing that item aside, they also have aesthetic design: goth character x dumb tough guy. (Sorry, I couldn’t find a better word for it).  Anyways, I’m referring ships like [A]dvenberry and [S]teakwine that have similar aesthetic/vibe to JackCrys.

4. Personality/Compatibility

They get along!! Jack Knife clearly is kind and loyal, while Emo Crys (who is reserved) also values emotions and vulnerability. They do not show any hate towards each other or any sort of hostility. The only thing that could separate them is the fact that Emo Crys is a ‘creator’ and Jack Knife is a ‘destroyer.’ But for the most part, both boys value kindness.

I would not be surprised if they had something going on *if* Wild Grinders was a more complex show + they were older.

Another thing that I also want to touch on is that the went through a personality swap during the making of the TV series. If you watch the promo videos + The Lost Skate Spot, then you’d notice that Jack Knife used to be a lot more ‘soft spoken’ and even a bit more shy. Meanwhile Emo Crys would be deadpan and have dry humor, but still having his emo personality. As time went on, Rob decided to make Jack Knife more loud and American-sounding (I understood the joke, but it really ended up being annoying). As for Emo Crys, they took away some of his snark and just entirely made him a ‘pathetic crybaby’ (most likely for the appeal towards girls).

I really like the old voices for them, but I do not mind the current voicing for them. (It’s just that it takes away a level of depth).

I can go on about this for hours, but I think that I should stop here. Anyways, I do have other ships in the franchise, but I don’t really go hard on them. (Also don’t want Dyrdek to come after me). Lil’ Rob x Goggles and Flipz x Xavier on the side.

"It's too close, you might not see it"

What to say about this movie...

The film itself is quite simple, even too easy at first sighting I'd dare to say, but the meaning behind, the interpretations and smart details is what makes it unique and pretty much a masterpiece.

I'm sure that most people, or at least those who usually watch unchallenging to elaborate movies, won't like it. If you're looking for something what will be "explained to you", for the director to give you that big plot twist or long monologue, you won't find it here. But if you want to watch a work of art that'll make you think, reflect and crash your minds, you have a good journey in front of you.

I remember that as soon as I've finished watching it I went online to look for theories, to see if someone else had the same idea as me, if I got it right and what I've missed, and then I planned to write here my thoughts on the real explaination, but after rewatching and searching I've figured it out BURNING doesn't really have a "true" explaination in my idea, or better, the director definitely knows what he believes is the so called truth, but the strength of it is how free of interpretations it is. I've read hundreds theories and honestly all of them could fit just right, so for once I've decided to do something different.

In here I will summarize all the theories, under layers and explaination that I've read, figured out or found, and I will leave to you, the reader, to believe your own "truth"

This will be full of spoilers, it's actually a summarization of the after watch, so read at your own risk, and since I'm taking for granted that you've watched the movie and remember it quite well too, I won't always repeat the plot when not necessary.

• Ben sells organs on the black market. That's how he gets his money and Haemi is aware of this, and decided to sell her own organs to pay off her debt. She even says I'D SELL MY ORGANS IF I WERE YOUNGER. She could also be unaware of this and that's why she dissapears.

• Ben is a serial killer. He seduces fragile women who are very easy preys to such an handsome and carismactic young man, and then gets rid of them after he gets tired. This happens about every couple of months, which corresponds to his journey in Africa timeline. They are the greenhouses he burns, because he knows nobody will look for them, and in fact the police does not care about the greenhouses, just like they don't care about missing women nobody knows about.

Ben also owns all the qualities of a maniac sociopath who's keen on control and feels no emotion or empathy. He never cries for example. He also feels pride in his crime and he's almost tempted to confess them to show how good he is. That's why he says to Jongsu that he will burn a greenhouse close to him, but he didn't mean it in a special terminology, but more like in an emotional sense. He will kill the the closest thing the other has, which is Haemi. He also states that she dissapeared like "smoke".

This would also be justified by the creepy call the protagonist receives by Haemi before she dissapears. The biggest evidence placed by the director to prove that this theory is the most correct one is in the last scene, where Ben is putting makeup on a new girl. For a non Korean speaker it's quite hard to get the reference but Makeup and corpses' cremation are spelled in the same way in the hangul language, therefore the movie showing us Ben doing the girl's makeup is the alternative way to say he's killed her and is now cremating the body, hence his obsession with fires.

He's the one who cleaned Haemi's room and took her cat. He also keeps his victims personal objects as a throphy of some sort.

• Ben is a pimp. He's the trainer for these beautiful, young but poor women who are ready to sell themselves when he convinces them to do so. This is shown as Haemi also become less and less shy as the movie goes on, as seen in the undressing scene, while being more bold and provocative too. He changed her drastically, or maybe only let her discover a different, more free, part of herself. He also applies makeup on them how he would do to a doll, playing dress up for a woman who's now becoming just an object of desire that can be bought.

• Ben is a human trafficker. He sends women into slavery while promising them a life of luxury and happiness. That's why he shows off his idyllic lifestyle, and then sells them in Africa (where he goes frequently), where they'll never be found.

• Ben is a life guru. He teaches unsecure and frustrated women to feel liberated and less oppressed, to leave it all behind and start from scratch. They pay him, that's why he's rich. He also keeps a "souvenir" of every woman he has turned. This could explain why he shows up to the meeting with Jongsu in the finale. If he actually killed or sold these women he wouldn't fall into the other man's trick.

• Ben doesn't exist. He's just the symbol of everything Jongsu is not but aspires to be. He's rich, confident, cultured and attractive. Every flaw and layer of insecurity Jongsu seems to have, Ben lacks. And in the end, when the protagonist finally becomes brave enough to mature, to actually chase the woman he loves, he's able to kill the shadow of himself that only reminded him of how miserable he was.

• Ben and Jongsu are the same person. Much Fight Club like, they're the same human being, just different, extreme sides of one. Jongsu could have a personality disorder or maybe we're just shown two sides of him that prove his mental health issues. That's also why Haemi seems to be involved with both of them without choosing a side, because one is the gentle but insecure fraction, the other the bold but arrogant one. And then, in the end, when such division is making him go insane, he decides to kill his alter ego.

• It's just a love triangle. One of my favorite songs of all time had a similar topic. There's the main character, a shy and quiet boy, who falls in love with a girl who feels foreign and unreachable to him. But he's not the only one in her life. She also has another lover who's much more attractive and manly in a way, and all three start to share this peculiar poliamorous love story, mostly platonic. She's very pretty and feels as free as Venus, torn between two men. Then one day she leaves, and she'll never come back. But while the second boy easily moves on with his life, figuring out it was just a näive fling, the singer remains stuck, obsessing over her day and night, trying to find answers and solutions just not to deal with the realization of her not loving him enough to stay.

• Every character represents a social stereotypes and criticism of modern South Korean classes. I think this is very straightforward, especially Jongsu's jealousy of Ben's wealth, and Haemi's attempt to RISE in the social pyramid, surrounding herself with high class people like Ben or his friends, even letting them make joke of her, to mock her, all of it just to feel part of their group and reality.

• It's all in Jongsu's head.

• The disappearance of Haemi, whether it happened or not or HOW it happened are not the main focus on the movie, which instead is the characters dealing with such loss and lack of knowledge on what happened. Much like the Russian movie Loveless (2017), where the event is only used as an artistical device to let the story progress and the characters' grief culminate. Maybe we really don't need to know what happened to her, maybe she's dead, maybe she's alive and better than ever, but to the movie's intent such information is superficial, it's just the human need to fill our curiosity when were too afraid to deal with the pain of remaining unaware of it. Jongsu is sure she's been killed and that brings him to his next move, but the viewer, he doesn't need to know, because he doesn't need to act, to keep the story going.

• Haemi might have killed herself. Ben is the only one who knows about this and that's why she gives him her cat. She also shows multiple signs of advanced depression, for more than half of the movie is almost like she's not there, like she's already just the memory, the ghost of a girl who once was there.

• The movie itself is just a metaphor. The metaphor is many times used by the characters and maybe not only as a word, part of a dialogue, but the overall film might be A BIG, CRIPTIC METAPHOR.

• Everything is hereditary. From family's fortunes and richness to behavior and inner rage. Jongsu was born poor and will die as such just like his father, and even though he seems like the most innocuous being, he's able to take out his rage on other just like this father. I guess it's in the genes.

• Jongsu is the calf. The calf represents Jongsu's pureness and naivety. And when he sells it, he's also selling his soul in a way.

• Haemi represents South Korea, Jongsu North Korea, Ben is the new Korea, the one always more and more Westernized.

• We're just reading the plot of Jongsu's book. When Haemi leaves for Africa he has plenty of time to write the story he's planning to put into words, and that's what he does. Everything we see after she comes back from her journey is just the plot of the book, and the creation of Jongsu's imagination.

• A modern reinterpretation of the Great Gatsby. Yes, obviously a VERY liberate view of the novel, but many details seem to be quite evocative.

• A criticism to how South Korea treats women. Even the movie itself does this, probably on purpose. The one who disappears is a woman, but the ones who are the main centre of attention are men. She's only a story device, never the real protagonist.

• Ben wanted Jongsu to discover his crimes so he could reach fame if the other ever made a book out of it. He's so full of himself he'd rather be punished for his crimes than never showing off how good he was at covering every proof. That's why he dies almost peacefully, and shed a tear, which he claimed to have never done before.

• The well Haemi reference to, symbolizes falling into prostitution. That's why Jongsu's mother knows about it too, since it's quite obvious she's now an escort. But she states the well is dry, as a way of saying that it's not how easy and fun it might seem.

• This is just the tragic story of a boy who's lost every possible source of love. From his father in jail, his mother who abandoned him, to the only girl that ever showed him affection disappearing, and a new friend who he decides to kill.

• Ben is Death or maybe the devil personified. He helps Haemi get the courage to end it one for all, and even pushes Jongsu to kill, cursing his soul.

I always end up thinking it comes back to Shoto *needed* a abusive father who also abused and coerced his mom whom he bought to pop out kids, separated the family, practised eugenics, talked trash about the whole family year after year and turned his brother into a murdering villain. While being a selfish, power hungry No 2 hero who is greedy, uses money and abuses power and is known for his violent heroics and generally disliked. He is next in line to AFO for doing every unimaginable bad but in terms of family abuse.

He could have been a quirkless top cop, he could have been a disabled ex-hero and had the same story. It was important he was what he was just an asshole corrupt top hero. Also to show he was running away from hurting his body and from responsibility by torturing his bought family to suffer in his place.

It was never about Endeavor. His story is like an afterthought to give substance to Shoto's story and bolster him and later, the rest of Todofam's stories. Pro Hero Arc's objective was to set Endeavor up as the symbol of downfall of hero society after All Might era. It was foreshadowed after Kamino Arc by Jin Bubaigawara's comments no less. And Twice being someone Hawks replaced for admiring as the ideal for the man's virtues unlike the sins of a man who was more fake than All Might's true inspiration on a TV. And this downfall was pinned on Endeavor as his personal failure as if to say he isn't the victim folks, move along. It is said as if to make it seem unfair but when it concerns Endeavor the plot always flips to show that wasn't the case it really was his fault. It kind of is. His arrogance, his delusional view of himself, his average competence in comparison to true heroes and his weak hero motivation(I'm No. 1 instead of altruism), etc were clearly depicted. And contrasted with All Might who did his best and was not the one in the wrong in the system. And the Commission who were evil ar dead.

Endeavor's character is frequently contradictory or inconsistent and modt of what he says or thinks is contradicted and depicted as his misunderstandings or sugarcoated delusions. In fact it won't be surprising if Endeavor commented on Toya having only a fire quirk and Rei nervously suggesting having another child to be the Ice sidekick to Toya but Endeavor only believed in one body to be the only hero and mistook Fuyumi's role as the cheerleader. To make every interaction or connection negative than it appears does seem the current purpose of plot.

But what never makes sense from a real person point of view is why marriage and child at 20. Very few people think I'll have a child and spend years grooming it to replace me while I'm being impatient right now. People can say 20 is adult enough all they want but thats two years after graduating from UA high school and its unusual unlike in the States. Didn't he have parents? They also practiced quirk marriage doesn't feel like a good enough answer.

He could have experimented on himself like Danzo from Naruto, he could have had a child with a woman he gets rid permanently- a clone with genetic modifications like in Star Wars or a child throgh a surrogate. Instead he needed the free nanny, cook, cleaner and housekeeper that came with a marriage to look after the child while he was away doing heroics. That is what is pointed out recently was Rei's sole role according to Endeavor.

AFO and his cronies could have been hidden in plain sight as miraculous doctors. Quirks can be updated once without suspicion(Deku never raised red flags?) AFO can give and take quirks. Endeavor was desperate enough to commit a legal seeming unethical practice so if Dr Kyudai Garaki ran a legal experimental scene where he lured in people who searched enough to find him, then why not Endeavor?

But I feel if that was the type of plot then it will be explained how Endeavor's body was not suited to holding cooling quirk or extra quirk would shorten his lifespan. Since Shoto is the real character who has to exist with his mother of a origin. And most likely is the scenario that Endeavor forced Rei to undergo dangerous treatment for pregnancy in one of Kyudai Garaki's machines. Its typical shonen plot btw torturing the mom to have a extra special child.

As told through Rei, Endeavor's character is one who runs away from responsibility and pushes it onto people instead of doing anything himself or troubling himself to suffer at all and shows no remorse afterwards or makes no noticeable effort to do sone action to sepict the same. His endeavoring is only that- a show of endeavour, no substance. In terms of plot having a child makes sense but think of him as a real consistent human character, it no longer is. Rei's assessment contradicts what she excused during the Pro Hero Arc. If he only runs away why would she be so deluded to think he is trying to face his past and not just giving her flowers because he got what he wanted completely at last. It doesn't explain anything about his character beyond being empty words to explain why he should be given a chance. And currently the family really doesn't need him they needed Dabi to be saved and it was said in the raws Shoto stated he did not feel "saved" by having to lend a hand to Endeavor.

I do agree that a major aspect of Enji's character is to provide greater context for both his sons, one who is a main character and one who is a main villain, as well as used to highlight the flaws present in hero society but I disagree with that being all he's supposed to be, at least not anymore.

Hori has gone through great lengths to try and flesh out his character beyond what he originally wrote though it was kind of awkward at the time when he started to do so because he had already dug Enji into such a horrible hole, slowly retconning aspects of the Todoroki family past (such as him "buying" Rei to be his brood mare) in a way that wasn't jarring (by making the family unreliable narrators which is something one would expect) but sadly he couldn't change the image he had already built for Enji for the most part.

I also agree that because Hori had began to flesh out Enji more, there has been more contradictions in his story when you start to pick it apart (such as how he's supposed to be the most stubborn character and yet gave up before he should have), but these issues are really only something a reader that likes to analyse the story will notice, not that of a casual reader (which I guess Hori should be thankful for). I'm not sure if Hori planned to make Enji into a more likable character from the beginning or if he changed plans midstory (...which to be honest, the way his story is written does appear to be the later), but because of the drastic change, it has left us feeling a bit of whiplash.

I do disagree with your last sentences though, Enji is important to the family and important to saving Dabi (kinda). Unlike Shouto, who is trying to break free from Enji and because of that he doesn't need his father, Dabi is desperate for his father's attention which has evolved into hatred and spite. It needs to be Enji that reaches out to him (and I wonder if this is why he decided to have Enji begin to reform as well, to be in a place where he'd actually try to save his son? Hmmm...).

Enji is an interesting character but a lot of his writing has a lot to be desired at times, is what I'm trying to say T-T
