Chapter 51 of human Bill Cipher is once more the Mystery Shack's prisoner: Dipper and Mabel try to figure out what the Axolotl's poem means; Dipper gets the hang of astral projection; and... whatever's going on up there happens.
####
Ford and Dipper came back into the shack through the gift shop; Ford didn't want to risk crossing paths with Bill. While Dipper went into the house, Ford went down—returning to the safety of his subterranean study.
Once Ford had put on the old black trench coat he'd worn during his multiversal travels and gotten comfortable at his desk, he pulled out Journal 5 to document the events of the last few days. In a cheap ballpoint pen, he wrote, I've lost my #1 Grunkle pen (and favorite coat) to the waters of Lake Gravity Falls. And then, deciding this didn't adequately express his feelings, he drew a small frown. That coat had served him well for decades, and he'd really liked that pen. It did write excellently, and it had reminded him of his gniece and gnephew.
He spent three pages documenting the eclipse—what happened, what readings he'd taken, what he and Dipper observed—and then another four pages talking about Bill. What he'd told them, why Ford had dismissed it; his claims about a trans-dimensional axolotl distorting gravity with its migration; the statue, the rescue, the breakdown.
The act of writing always helped Ford clarify his thoughts and untangle mysteries; it wasn't until he was writing that he realized the limbs Bill had said he couldn't feel were the ones that had broken off the statue.
He listed the rules of the chess variants he could remember Bill inventing. He drew Bill huddled in front of the board, grim, tear-streaked, exhausted; and then scratched out his face, embarrassed at the thought of immortalizing such a raw moment for his private viewing.
He wrote, There's still a slim possibility that the entire "eclipse," start to finish, was Bill's masterfully-orchestrated scheme to make us pity and trust him; but it's unlikely. Although Bill is fiendish enough, he isn't currently powerful enough, and his lies certainly aren't elaborate enough. If he could pull off such a byzantine ruse, then he could just as easily escape—and if he can escape, why hasn't he? Bill may be insane, but he's never been THAT irrational.
And so, even as twisted as Bill's idea of "friendship" is... for the very first time, I'm convinced that he was telling the truth all along when he said he wants me as his friend. It's not an act. He risked his life to save someone who's an active threat to him.
And at the end of it all—though I'm grateful to be alive in spite of my own stubbornness—do I like him any better for it?
Ford leaned back and shut his eyes, sifting through the inner tumult of anger and old hurt that defined most of his memories of Bill, looking to see if anything had changed.
There was a sore, tender spot in his emotions, a place beginning to rot with remorse; when he prodded at those emotions, he found that it was shame over his own harsh conduct of the last couple of days. But he was only ashamed of how cruelly he'd acted; he wasn't ashamed that Bill was the one he'd done it to.
Outside of that tender spot—regret over his own behavior—nothing else had changed.
No. I still hate him. I'm grateful to be alive, but I hate him. He hasn't undone anything he did to my family and me, and he never will. Forgiveness can't be purchased with favors.
I'm only relieved at the certainty of it. Bill has committed an act that can't possibly be a lie. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he's shown me the truth; and the truth is he'd rather see me alive than dead. Whatever other lies he may tell, I can hold on to that fact.
Bill's miserable eyes peered out at Ford between the scribbles he'd drawn across his face. It was truly a pity that Ford had to hate him. Pity that Bill hadn't been somebody better. He could have been better.
Ford couldn't find it in himself to be embarrassed that he'd filled four pages talking about the monster he'd already wasted so many more on. Bill had been right about him: You might hate me to my face, but behind my back you're as obsessed with me as ever. The only thing Bill didn't understand was that hatred and obsession weren't mutually incompatible.
####
"Hey, Dipper," Mabel said, unfolding the living room sofa bed.
"Hey, Mabel," Dipper said, passing through living room on his way to the stairs. He climbed up to the attic.
He came back down from the attic. "Mabel. Why's Bill asleep in your bed."
"He really needed a nap," Mabel said.
"Okay but why on your bed?"
Mabel pouted. "Dipper, do you realize he's never slept on a real bed? Ever?"
Dipper tried to imagine sleeping on a couple couch cushions on the floor every night. "Yeah, okay, that does kinda suck." Even if it was Bill's own fault he wouldn't sleep in the living room.
By unspoken mutual agreement, having a Bill in the bedroom followed the same law as finding a centipede in the bathroom. The law was "that's the centipede's bathroom now." So once the folding bed was set up, they sat on it to serve as their hang-out spot for the evening and caught each other up on what they'd done the last couple of days.
After Dipper & Co. had left, Grenda had come over to take advantage of the low gravity to retrieve the kite that had been stuck in a tree near the Mystery Shack since last summer (it was, tragically, too tattered to salvage), and then they'd gone over to Candy's house to photograph each other performing feats of impossible strength. (Mabel would be sending some pictures to their parents to confuse them, and adding the rest to her summer scrapbook.) She'd spent the next day breaking the trampoline world record until Soos came outside and said gravity was probably too low for it to be safe to be up in the air anymore, if Bill's warnings about being off the ground when gravity hit zero were true; at which point Mabel had hung around inside air-swimming until she suddenly slammed against the ceiling, and then the ground. She was fine. She just had a couple of bruises. She showed Dipper her bruises.
In return, Dipper told Mabel about how their quest had gone: the checks for micro-rips, Bill's increasingly frantic warnings, the lake—
("You got to see a bajillion magical axolotls and I didn't?!")
—the cliff, the Axolotl, Dipper's near-death experience, and what he now knew about his out-of-body dreams.
"Seriously?" Mabel hissed, eyes bugging out. "And he had us looking up lucid dreaming books! What a jerk!"
"I know! He could have just ignored the whole thing, we didn't even think it was anything but dreams."
"And I'd thought he was being so helpful, too! Like he was really trying to make up for giving you 'nightmares'!" Mabel laughed in disbelief and flopped down on the flimsy mattress. "All that because he just didn't want us to know how it was really his fault? Biiill, ugh."
His fault. Dipper hesitated, wondering whether he should tell Mabel what Bill had said about Mabel's Fault; then decided against it. Bill had probably been telling the truth when he'd said he only wanted all the credit for Weirdmageddon.
But—Dipper did tell her about Bill saving their lives. He would have felt like a liar if he hadn't—like he was trying to trick his sister into thinking Bill was worse than he already was. He hoped Ford wouldn't mind; but how could he not tell Mabel?
"He could have just let you die and didn't?" Mabel turned that over in her head, processing this sudden shift in Bill's behavior. "Wow. I'm impressed."
He also told her about their previous encounter with the Axolotl. Considering the other lies Bill had told recently, anything he said about them meeting the Axolotl was dubious at best; but Dipper could remember the Axolotl, so maybe some of it was true, even if Bill had twisted as much as he could. ("The Axolotl said hi, by the way." "Aww. Tell him hi back!" "Yeah, I... don't know how to do that.")
Dipper laid out his journal between them on the folding bed, and Mabel read over the couplet a few times. "'Sixty degrees that come in threes, watches from within birch trees'..."
"It's got to be talking about Bill," Dipper said. "Equilateral triangles have three sixty-degree angles. I just don't know why the Axolotl wanted to talk to us about him."
Mabel frowned at the lines. "I think... I remember meeting him too," she said.
"You do?"
"Kinda. Like in a dream," she said. "We were in some kind of futury space race car. And he had a really comfortable beanbag chair."
"Yes! I remembered the beanbag chair, too!" And he hadn't mentioned it in his journal. "This is great! Talking about it must... must cause us to remember, somehow. Maybe since the universe where we met the Axolotl doesn't exist anymore, our memories of it are... detached or something? Psychically floating around between dimensions until we try to remember them?" He took in Mabel's skeptical frown and shrugged. "I don't know!"
She scrunched up her face. "Ugh. Last summer's first-grader time travel was complicated enough. This is like college-level time travel. Maybe we can ask Bill how it works?"
She said it so easily, like she thought it was actually a good idea. Right after she'd heard about the lucid dreaming thing, too. "I don't think he'd help." Dipper lowered his voice. "He really didn't want Grunkle Ford and me to find out about the Axolotl—and he kept telling me not to think about what the Axolotl told me. He's trying to cover something up."
"Oo-oo-ooh." Voice dropped to a whisper, Mabel said, "Do you think it's some kind of Space Axolotl conspiracy?"
"It could be," Dipper said. "All I know is he was trying to tell us something important about Bill. Some kind of prophecy, or... maybe a warning...?"
He trailed off. Mabel had stopped listening to Dipper. She was rereading the couplet Dipper had written, moving her lips like she was murmuring under her breath—but whatever she was saying, it was much longer than the couplet Dipper had written down. Distractedly, she said, "Do you have a pen?"
"Yeah, here." Dipper quickly handed over the pen he kept in his vest.
Mabel clicked it, went to the bottom of the page, and wrote: A different form, a different time.
Dipper sucked in a sharp breath as the words snapped into place in his mind. "That's it! That was the last line! What else do you remember?"
"That's it," Mabel said. "It was free form poetry with a bunch of rhyme pairs."
"I don't think free form poetry rhymes."
"Pbbbt." Mabel blew a raspberry and shoved Dipper's face. "Whatever! You know what I mean." She pointed at the last line. "Do you think the poem's about why Bill's here? He time traveled to the Mystery Shack in a new body..."
"Exactly! Bill must be back here for a reason. He's got all those powers—or, used to, anyway—and he knows more about the multiverse than anybody on Earth... Maybe there's some kind of big threat coming, and Bill's the only one who can stop it, and—and the Axolotl wanted us to know...?"
"I like the sound of that," Mabel said. "That'd basically make him a hero, right?"
Dipper grimaced. "I mean. I guess? But we're talking about Bill. If he does help us stop a threat, it'd be like if a serial killer picked up a hitchhiker and killed him, and then it turned out the hitchhiker was an even worse serial killer."
"That still sounds kinda heroic to me."
"Pfff, okay." He looked at his journal. "But... what is he here to do?"
Mabel considered what they'd already written. "Maybe we can use him to spy on our enemies through birch trees!"
"Thaaat's probably not it."
"No, I think I'm on to something. I can feel it."
There was a lot of empty space between his couplet and Mabel's line. "There's more we're missing, though. Maybe the rest of the poem describes the threat? Or what we need to get Bill to do?"
"I can't remember anything else, though."
"Me neither."
They stared at the page together, waiting for something to come to their blank minds. Mabel looked at the fish tank. "Hey, Primrose! Do you know anything?"
The pet axolotl in the tank ignored her serenely.
Dipper said, "'Primrose'?"
"Yeah, last summer Grunkle Stan said her name is Freakface, but I thought she deserved a cuter name. She's primrose color!"
"Ford says he originally named him Nikola."
Mabel gasped. "Nikki..."
Dipper twisted around to look at the axolotl. "Do you know anything? Do you... get messages from the Axolotl's heralds, or anything...?"
Nikola slowly opened his mouth, and slowly closed it.
Mabel said, "Hey. The Axolotl's one of those dimension-crossy time-travely guys, right? He probably wouldn't have given us a prophecy in the wrong timeline and then made us forget it unless he knew we'd remember it in time in the rightdimension!"
"I guess," Dipper said uncertainly.
"So we don't need to worry about it! We'll remember it when we need to."
"Unless this timeline's going to branch, and the only one where we survive is the one where we put all our effort into trying to remembering—"
"Shhh!" Mabel put a finger over Dipper's mouth. "Uh-uh. No college time travel. We'll be fine!"
Dipper pushed her over. "Okay, but we should at least try a little to remember what the Axolotl told us."
"What if we work on it separately?" Mabel propped herself up on an elbow. "Instead of just sitting around thinking about it. And whenever we remember a line, we can tell each other and see if it makes anything click."
"That might be faster," Dipper said, stroking his chin. "We're already remembering different lines."
"Yeah! And that lucid dreaming book said something about focusing on a problem before you sleep so you can figure it out in your dreams! We can just work on it in our sleep and we'll remember it all in no time!"
Dipper laughed. "What? No way, I think lucid dreaming is just one of those made up pop psychology things. I didn't get it to work at all." Either it didn't work or Bill had deliberately recommended a terrible book.
"I did! I can remember like... eighty percent more dreams. And I can tell when I'm dreaming a lot more often!"
"Huh." Or, maybe Dipper just wasn't doing it right. "Maybe I need to start over from step one. Do you know where the book we were using went?"
"Over here!" Mabel had set a couple library books on the end table next to the sofa bed; she pulled out the second one, which had a glittery pink bookmark with a cat on it stuck two-thirds of the way through. "Just don't lose my bookmark."
"Thanks." He'd reread the first step before bed. "We should probably be getting ready for bed anyway, huh?"
"Seriously?! It's barely bedtime!" And when the adults weren't watching, official bedtime was an hour and a half before Actual Bedtime.
"I'm exhausted. I just hiked up and down a mountain and faced down death."
Mabel pointed at Nikola. "You faced down a big salamander."
"Close enough."
They went upstairs, brushed their teeth, went to their bedroom...
And stopped in the door. Bill was still asleep. "Oh. Right," Dipper said.
He was curled into a ball on his left side, facing the wall, covered with only the zodiac blanket and his borrowed/stolen top hat sitting on the side of his head. He didn't use a pillow; he'd pushed Mabel's pillows and dolls behind himself to form a squishy makeshift fortress.
"Please don't wake him up," Mabel whispered. (She'd already set up the folding bed for herself; she'd clearly planned on this.) "He's had a really really hard time the last couple of days, and I think he needs as much sleep in a real bed as he can get, and it's just for one night, and I'm sure he'd rather sleep than do anything evil—"
"He said something, didn't he?"
Mabel paused. "Yeah. I think seeing his body really messed him up."
Dipper sighed. "We were trying to keep him away from it." He didn't want Mabel to think they'd forced him to stare his own death in the face. "But he did that... eye thing and looked through the trees, and..."
Mabel nodded.
Well. Dipper couldn't kick him out now. For Mabel's sake.
As children, occasionally when they got hotel rooms with a bed too few, their parents would stick them in one bed with a barrier of pillows in between them. At age thirteen and without two crabby parents trying to get them to just go to bed after a long plane flight, they unanimously vetoed that plan. Dipper decided against asking Stan if he could sleep in Ford's unoccupied bed, both because he suspected Stan would just go upstairs and drag Bill out of the room and because he didn't want Stan to think he was scared of Bill. He wasn't scared of Bill. Not anymore. He could handle one measly night in the same room as him. Anyway, somebody had to make sure he wasn't unsupervised in their bedroom all night, right?
Dipper and Mabel quietly set a floor mirror and old lamp next to Mabel's bed, draped a sheet between them, taped on a pink poster that said "WARNING! TRIANGLE ZONE!" and was covered in stickers of triangular objects, and decided Dipper was adequately shielded. If Bill did get up during the night, he'd probably trip through the sheet and wake half the house before he got anywhere near Dipper.
Dipper went to sleep with a baseball bat in his hands.
####
"Okay," Bill said, hands on his sides, "what am I looking at here?"
The feral band members of Sev'ral Timez turned toward Bill, eyes reflecting in the dim light. They were squatting around Bill's petrified corpse like a pack of apes examining a sleek black monolith.
"Hey girl," Creggy G. said.
"Hey," Bill said. He looked down at himself. His onyx black feet hovered over the ground and the yellow glow from his exoskeleton illuminated the clearing. "Lemme cut to the chase, is this gonna turn into a raunchy dream? My corporeal love life is about as cold and dry as Antarctica, I keep hoping one of my dreams will get a little hotter and wetter—"
"Nah, G," Deep Chris said. "Mr. Bratsman got us fixed."
"Aw."
"We're here to pay you reverence for freeing our minds from the chains of the conventional," Greggy C said, gesturing to Bill's corpse. Leggy P was kneeling and bowing to it and Chubby Z was posing for it. "We want to help free you like you tried to help free humanity."
Bill's eye narrowed. He tapped a finger against the edge of one brick as he considered this offer. Finally, skeptically, he said, "Fine. I'll bite. Why should I think you can help me?"
"Because we can give you the understanding your heart's been missing, girl. You're just like us," Chubby Z said. "A horror never meant to exist, born of a dream to construct the perfect golden idol, forced to dwell within an unnaturally-fabricated human shell."
Bill tilted his head thoughtfully. "I'm with you so far."
"We want you to join us," Deep Chris said. "Cavort with us in the silvan night, G. Shun the harsh light of the spotlight for the healing salve of moonbeams. We'll get drunk on the sweet fermented summer berries, uncaring of how the brambles prick our flesh. We'll dance in a frenzy of ecstasy and only sleep when the morning sun lifts the dew from the flowers and the sweat from our skin. It'll be straight Dionysian, boo."
"We can kiss the hot trees," Creggy G said.
Bill grabbed his shoulder. "Oh, you're the human that keeps making out with birch trees! I knew your face was familiar!" He paused. "So... are there any eligible ones around here?"
"Sure, girl, just downstream."
"If I'd known, I would've polished myself first."
"Say you'll join us, Bill girl," Deep Chris said. The band crowded around Bill to either side, posing around him—the backup dancers for the star singer. "You'd be one of us."
"We're already exactly the same," Creggy G said, holding up a mirror so that it reflected his and Bill's faces beside each other. In Bill's human face were two empty white eyes with pinprick pupils and pale blue irises, exactly the same as the eyes of the Sev'ral Timez boys.
He sat up with a gasp, hands flying to his face. There were still green boughs at the edges of his dreaming vision, blending into the wooden boards of the Mystery Shack's attic. Before sleep had fully fled his mind, he seized up the zodiac blanket draped over his body and stared into his embroidered eye.
The eye stared back at him. Through it, he could see his horrified sleepy face, and his normal slitted yellow eyes. His connection to the blanket's eye disappeared as he finished waking up.
He heaved a sigh of relief and flopped back down. He'd been lucid, but he hadn't been in control of that dream. He still needed practice.
He rolled toward the light of the window, groped around beneath it until he found his journal, grabbed up his crayons, and flipped pages blearily until he found the first blank one. He started writing down his dream, pausing only briefly as he tried to figure out how to translate "Sev'ral Timez" before settling on a sufficiently goofy way to misspell "several times" in Plaintext.
He made it halfway down the page before he stopped. Hold on. This wasn't his beautiful journal. These were not his beautiful crayons. He checked the cover and grimaced in displeasure when he saw a pine tree rather than a hand. Dipper's journal. Bill ripped out the page, ate it, and set the journal and Mabel's crayons back on the table  under the bedroom window.
"What was that," Dipper asked, "some kind of Morse code?"
Bill yelped and twisted around. Dipper's soul was hovering above Mabel's headboard, watching over Bill's shoulder.
"Hey! Back, foul ghost!" Bill snatched up Mabel's pillow and swung it at Dipper.
"Ow—Hey! How did you hit me, I'm in the mindscape—"
"I said back!" Bill swung again, chasing Dipper off the bed. "Back into your fleshy tomb!" He climbed off the bed, stumbled into Dipper and Mabel's trap, tripped through the sheet and probably woke up half the house.
He yanked the sheet off and flung the pillow at Dipper by its corner. "Now get back in your body, go to sleep, and leave me alone."
"I don't know how to get back in it. I just wait until it happens by itself," Dipper said, floating irritably over his sleeping body, arms crossed. "Why do you think I just wander around every time I have this dream?" He paused. "Right—it's not a dream, is it."
Bill sighed heavily. "Try putting your body on like..." He almost said like an exoskeleton, remembered his audience, and amended himself: "Like it's clothing. I usually start with the hands. Just like putting on gloves!"
Dipper looked at the cold fingers wrapped tightly around the baseball bat. "How do I put hands on like gloves? There's no opening or—"
"Just try it, would you?" Bill sat tiredly on the edge of Mabel's bed.
Dipper shot him an irritated look, but pressed his ghostly hands against his fleshly ones, passing through the skin until one set of fingers rested inside the other. A fingertip twitched.
Bill gestured with one hand, continue. "Now the sleeves."
"I know how to get dressed." Dipper laid down in his body, forearm into forearm, shoulder into shoulder—until he was wholly back inside. He sat up, awake. "Huh."
"There, see?" Bill said. "And if you want to take it back off, just do the same thing in reverse. Like degloving your body from your soul!"
"Did you have to phrase it like that?" Still, Dipper tried it, peeling out of his body from the fingertips up. He left his body sitting upright as he hovered over it.
Bill chuckled tiredly. "Lookit your face, staring at nothing. Stupid looking."
"Shut up." He slid back into his body, more quickly now that he knew what he was doing.
"Great," Bill said. "Now that you know how to get back in your body, never do that again." He flopped back onto Mabel's bed and rolled over to face the wall. "It's a pain in my base having you wander around all night."
"Then you should've thought of that before you ripped my soul out of my body," Dipper grumbled. "Can you reattach me to my body?"
"Sure, easy." He lifted a hand to point down at his regrettably human form. "Not like this, though. Wanna help reattach me to my body?"
"Never in a million years."
"Then come back in a million years. There's nothing I can do for you until then." Bill dragged Mabel's zodiac blanket back over himself. "So sorry. Go to sleep. Leave me alone."
Dipper bet Bill could do it and was only saying he couldn't to try to trick Dipper into helping him. But he lay back down—clutching his bat again—and shut his eyes.
After a moment, Bill asked, "Where's Mabel? Sleepover?"
"Sofa bed in the living room."
"Right."
And then there was silence.
Several minutes passed. Dipper nearly fell back asleep. He heard Bill climbing out of bed and creeping across the room; but the footsteps didn't approach Dipper's bed, so he didn't open his eyes.
A few minutes after that, Dipper heard him come back, walking more heavily. He cracked open an eye to see what Bill was up to.
He was carrying Mabel, who was still asleep; his arms were trembling from her weight, but even at that Dipper hadn't known Bill was that strong. With a quiet grunt, he set her on her bed, then haphazardly tossed her sheet and zodiac blanket over her. He picked up his top hat from the bed and put it on; and then he wandered off, footsteps quiet as a ghost, and Dipper heard the creak of the door as he left the bedroom.
That was a lot nicer than Dipper had expected from Bill. Maybe he did care about Mabel in his own way.
Mabel rolled over and latched on to one of her dolls. Dipper shut his eye and fell back asleep.

(My favorite part of writing this was Bill dreaming about Sev'ral Timez saying the most absurdly flowery things imaginable. Anyway, let me know what y'all think about this week's chapter! And reminder that I MIGHT skip next week or the week after because the next couple chapters need heavier editing than usual.)

29 / 2.1k / soap soulmate au, part 6
...
Ghost looks up as Soap storms out of the weapons closet.
"Still herself, I take it?" Ghost asks.
"She's a stubborn pain in the ass is what she is."
As expected. Soap misses the dry amusement that crinkles the corners of Ghost's eyes very slightly. "Didn't talk, then," Ghost says.
Soap scowls. "Not a goddamn word we can use. She won't listen to reason. Thinks she can face down an army. Dense, irritating--"
"Strong-willed," Ghost says.
"To a damn fault. Canny see what I'm trying to do for her. I'm-- she's--" Soap can hardly articulate his frustration. He's got this sick feeling in his stomach like he's been kicked in the gut hard enough to make him hurl.
It's not just you being too stubborn to give up the intel. What happens when you’re freed? You’re not going to stick around. What if Graves snaps his fingers and you go right on back to him?
Soap lets out a rough sigh. "There's more than Graves keeping her from talking. I don't like it."
"You've got a plan?" Ghost guesses.
Soap nods. "Aye. I need to talk to Laswell--"
"Done." Ghost produces a beige folder and drops it into Soap's hands. "Had her look into it for you."
"I'll be damned." Soap flips through the pages in the folder. "Christ. Bloody thin file." He fans the pages inside like a flipbook as if checking for extra pages. "Where's the rest of it?"
"Not much there to dig up."
"Then she's gotta be missin' some--" Something catches Soap's eye as he skims through, and he pauses, lingering on a photo.
Hell's fuckin' bells.
"Think that'll help?" Ghost asks.
"I'd wager so."
"Good. You goin' back in?"
"Aye.” Soap folds the file into his jacket and gives Ghost a good-natured fist bump to the arm. Then he brushes past him, knocking into his shoulder.
Ghost grabs Soap’s arm again before he slips past. "We don't have much time. Price wants to move on Alejandro. Says if you can't get the intel, we go in blind. Rodolfo leads."
Soap sets his jaw. "How long?"
"Three hours. Tops." He claps a firm hand on Soap's shoulder and turns to leave. "Get some sleep."
A moment later, the metal grate door slides open. You straighten back up and steel yourself again.
There's something different about the way Soap carries himself this time. He's not wound as tightly. But the way his eyes settle on you is... odd. The shift in his expression puts you on edge.
He sits down across from you. "We've not got much time. If talking gets us nowhere, we'll try something else."
You lean back, mirroring his posture. "You gonna torture me?”
“That what you’re expecting?”
“Maybe. You ever tortured someone before?"
"Aye. Can't say I care for it, but I know how if that's what this takes." He examines you again with that sharp gaze. You don't feel like he's undressing you with his eyes anymore. It's more like he's searching for something. "Why ask? You want me to put my hands on ya?"
You ignore the mental image that imprints. "I want you to waste your time."
Soap smirks. "What I wouldn't give to let you waste my time. You, me, all this animosity between us... I've got a few negotiation techniques I'd very much like to try." He leans back into the chair, his hands folded in his lap with an easy grin. "But you're no' the type to break under pressure."
"Better men than you have tried."
"Tried torturing you?" His grin tightens just slightly. "Anyone I know? Names, locations?"
Your cheeks heat up again. At that, for some reason. "I can take care of myself."
"I know you can."
He produces the thin file and tosses it onto the table between you.
You look down at the papers that slide out. They're grainy and covered in redactions as if printed and bound, pulled from the deep end of some filing cabinet, scanned, rescanned, and printed again. But you glimpse your name. Your real name--the one printed on Johnny's skin, too. Your chest twists and your stomach sinks.
Soap sees the change in you and leans forward, elbows wide. He opens the file and pushes it across the table. "I'll do anything to protect you, darlin'," he says. "But I need information."
The file is everything you don't want anyone to know. But what catches your eye is that photograph. "Who else has seen this?"
"Me and Laswell. Maybe Ghost if he was feelin' nosy. Does Graves know?"
You pull on your cuffs, wanting to reach for the pages and push them away. "Captain Graves said he'd make this disappear."
Soap leans back, broad palm sliding out to touch the edge of the pages, and his expression softens for a moment. "Some things you can’t make disappear."
You look at him, twisted up with pain and anger. "So, what, if I don't talk, you're threatening to expose all this? Is that it? It won't work," you add with false confidence. "Captain Graves knows everything."
"What I want to know," Soap says, voice quiet, "is what he did with it."
"What?"
Soap leans forward again. "Did he threaten you? Did he say he’d make this go away if you worked for him, hold it over your head?"
"No!” you snap. “After this happened, I couldn't-- I was discharged from the military. I couldn't find work. He reached out to me. Said he didn’t mind if I had… history. Then he offered to have it scrubbed if I wanted.” You stare down at the papers. “He never threatened me. He helped me."
Soap lets out a breath. He was prepared to deal with something a lot worse than that. Maybe he hoped for something worse. If Graves were blackmailing you, the solution would be easy. He'd give you protection, offer to have Laswell erase that file from existence instead, CIA-style. After all, if Graves got his claws into you and onto his payroll that way, why couldn't he? Probably got you dirt fucking cheap, too. Bastard.
Part of Soap wants to press that angle. He could tell you Graves never intended to deliver on his side of the deal. But the truth is that Graves would've had little control over this. Seeing the state of the file, Graves likely did what he could to have it redacted, sealed, destroyed--but someone over his head intervened. Shepherd, maybe. There'd be nothing Graves could do.
Soap wants you more than anything, but the pain in your eyes when you look at these documents tears him up inside. He can’t manipulate you that way. Even if he got you to himself in the end, he'd never forgive himself.
"That's... that's good. He protected you." Soap crosses his arms, squeezing his fist hard around the object inside, the one he pickpocketed off Ghost a few minutes ago. Much as he hates Graves, the man kept you safe. But that's his job now.
"I don't care who you tell," you snap, suddenly full of anger and spitting fire. The sight of those pages puts you on edge. You feel like a cornered animal. "I'm not telling you a goddamn thing. Do whatever you want to me. You're no better than--"
"Am no' blackmailin' ya." Soap's expression sours. So much venom in that mouth of yours. He runs his thumb over his tightened knuckles to suppress his own temper. He's amazed at how easy it is for you to get under his skin, how you push all these buttons when he's the one who's supposed to be pulling the strings.
But he realizes how this must seem. You act tough, but you're vulnerable, exposed, and he has every reason right now to drive the knife in and twist it hard. Maybe he should. Going into the Las Almas base blind means danger for his squadmates.
Christ, he’s tired. He pinches the bridge of his nose. "Darlin’, I... I know now you've done things you're not proud of. But that doesn't change anything. Not to me, not to Ghost-- hell, none of us would bat an eye. You don’t need to protect yourself anymore. I need you to talk to me. We're out of time."
He thinks this is about you protecting yourself? You shake your head. "If you’re storming the Las Almas base, you're going up against Shadows. You're asking me to help you kill my own."
"If that matters to you, then tell me how to get to Alejandro without alerting the guards. Nobody has to get hurt."
You scoff, looking away. "There's no way to do that and you know it."
"We don't have to shoot them if they stand down first."
"That's not going to happen. They'll shoot you on sight. It'll be a bloodbath."
"Not for us."
You close your eyes. "I know. That's what I'm worried about."
Soap lets out a frustrated breath. "We're going in whether you talk or not. The blood's on our hands. Not yours."
You keep your gaze angled away, clearly not believing that. "I don't see why you care about security. I don't see why you need intel at all. This is what you're good at, right? This is what 141 does. You break in doors, you kill people."
Soap grips the edge of the table. "The only thing gettin' you out of here is information. I don't care what it is or if it's useful. Price wants intel."
"I don't have it." Your voice is flat and cold. Whatever you can do to make him understand you're not worth the effort.
He leans in and grabs your chin, gently forcing you to look at him. "Then lie to me."
"What?" You stare at him, feeling pinned under that intense gaze. "Are you fucking insane?"
"Might be," A small, sly, half-smile curves his lips. "I'm also desperate, runnin' out of time, and at the end of my rope after starin' at you this long, knowin' I can't have you." He runs his thumb along your cheek. "Maybe I'm bankin' on you losin' your mind before I do."
You swallow. "You'll be waiting awhile."
He smirks. His thumb moves from your cheek to your chin, fingers trailing down the side of your neck. "Do you think you're a good liar?"
Before you can answer, someone bangs on the metal door, rattling it. Price's voice echoes in from outside.
"Get some sleep, Soap," he calls. "We're briefing soon. Give it a rest. We’ll press her for more intel after we’ve got Alejandro back.”
Soap tenses at the sound of Price's voice. "Wasn't planning on sleepin'," he calls back.
"Wasn't a question," Price calls back. You hear him walk away.
Soap withdraws his hand, letting out a soft curse.
"Why would you give your own Captain false information?" you hiss. "You could lose your job. You could get court-martialed. Even if it worked, what if Shepherd finds out? He's still in your chain of command."
"Guess that's a risk I gotta take."
"Then what if I tell you something that gets your teammates hurt, huh?"
"Won't happen. I'll be in the front when things get risky."
"Then how do you expect me to-- if it means you're the one who's--" You huff, words failing you. "You're so goddamn thick."
"Am I? Because here I am, tryin' to make plans and get a read on you, and all you wanna do is piss me off and run your mouth. I'm learnin' a lot." He tilts his head. "In fact, it's startin' to sound like you're worried about me."
"Absolutely not."
"Could always tell me the truth. Extra insurance if you do. Maybe it’ll keep me alive."
"You don't need it," you snap.
"I think I do." He leans in, crossing his legs and folding his arms. "Got a bad feeling about this one. No Shadow worth their salt wouldn’t send us straight to hell if it meant finishing the job. Especially Graves."
You feel another pang of dread in your gut. He's right.
He watches you for another long moment. Neither of you speak.
Finally, he stands, sighing deeply as he goes to the door. "Alright."
"Are you coming back?" The words spill out of your mouth before you can stop them.
He pauses in the doorway. Then he turns back, staring at you like there's something he wants to say. He looks down at the stolen object still clutched in his hand--the key to your cuffs.
He opens the door, slipping through without another word.

Not Good Enough
Pairing: Bucky x Plus Size Female Reader Summary: Reader is dating Bucky. Bucky thinks he won the jackpot with the reader, but the reader thinks he can get anyone he wants. A bet then goes a little too far, leaving the reader questioning everything about their relationship.
A/N: Fixed this piece up and changed the story line. Both reader and Bucky are wrong in this one, but I hope you like it anyways. I tend to write toxic relationships because of what I've been through. If you don't like that you can pass by without leaving rude comments. This is my version of therapy. Thanks!
--
You weren’t like the other agents on the team. Where most women in S.H.I.E.L.D or the Avengers are tall, skinny and beautiful. You were short, overweight, and in your opinion “ehh” in the looks department. Though you looked overweight, you were strong as all hell. You always felt like you didn’t belong, but the team always told you did. Especially Bucky.
When Bucky Barnes admitted his feelings for you, you had a hard time believing him. He's proven that his feelings are real, but one thing you think he's lying about is how lucky he says he is that you finally said yes to being his. It's a conversation that comes up several times and you keep saying the same thing.
"Buck, one sexy smirk toward a woman and they would be putty in your hands. I'm the one who should thank whoever brought you to me cause I still don't get what you see."
"Baby, you're the one who could have any man she wants, and you chose me. Trust me, no other woman would ever want me."
You would just roll your eyes and change the subject as it was actually painful to talk about. But one week you had enough and made a bet. A new agent was coming, and you wanted to prove Bucky wrong. You gave him permission, against your better judgement, to flirt. If she turned him down you would admit defeat, but if you won, he owed you a weekend away together.
Then the new female agent, Stacy, joined, and she was gorgeous! Beautiful light brown hair that looked so soft to the touch, blue eyes that drew you in, and a body you would die for. When you and Bucky walked in hand-in-hand to meet her, you couldn’t help but notice Bucky’s reaction to her. You shook it off because you couldn’t deny her beauty either.
"Remember the deal babe," you said quietly, suddenly regretting your choice. He nodded silently and kissed your forehead.
You didn't know this, but he was also regretting this bet. When Stacy was introduced to the team, you automatically noticed her eyes lingered on Bucky a lot longer than anyone else.
Steve brought her down the line to meet everyone one by one, and when she walked up to you, you extended your hand, “Nice to meet you Stacy. Looking forward to working with you.”
She looked at your hand for a moment and then said to Steve, “I thought I was meeting agents.”
Steve’s eyebrows shot up and nodded, “Yes, Y/N here is one of our best. She is one mission away from becoming a full fledge Avenger.”
You smiled at him as she looked back at you, an unreadable expression on her face. “Huh, well, we'll see about that.”
She walked past you to Bucky without shaking your hand. You were honestly shocked by her rudeness. You watch her interact with Bucky and see the flirty fluttering of her eyelashes.
Bucky turned on the charm, which you had to admit, hurt you more than you realized it would.
“Sergeant Barnes, I am looking forward to learning a lot from you,” she said in a sultry voice.
Bucky flushed, understanding her meaning. “Uh, yea anytime dollface,” he said.
Your eyes shot to his face. “Doll” was your nickname. You looked from him to Steve, who just gave you a sympathetic smile.
When intros were done, it was time for dinner. Stacy made sure she sat right next to Bucky, which drove you nuts. Bucky didn’t even spare you a glance when you were forced to sit on the other end of the table. It was like he didn’t even notice you. Not that you blamed him, Stacy did take all the attention in the room. Why did you make this damn bet?
You started feeling very low and self conscious, excusing yourself from the table. You entered your room and quickly went into the shower. You couldn’t help but let some tears fall, thinking you were not good enough for Bucky. Stacy was the type of woman he should be with, not you.
While lost in your thoughts, you don’t notice Bucky entering the shower with you, until you feel his arms around you. You immediately tense when you feel him, feeling the tears fall harder.
“Doll? You okay?” he asked concerned. You cried harder, holding your face in your hands. Bucky turned you around and held you close, kissing the top of your head.
When you finally calmed down and looked up at Bucky, who had a concerned and sad expression on his face. You step away from him and leave the shower.
“Y/N?” he called after you. When he made it out to the room in a towel, you were changing into sweats and one of his hoodies. “Baby, please tell me whats wrong?” he pleads.
You look at him with a mix of sadness and anger. “I’m shocked you even noticed I left the table,” you spat.
Bucky is shocked by your words, “What do you mean?” he whispers.
You scoff, “I give you permission to flirt with one woman, and you suddenly forget that you have a girlfriend. Not that I blame you! She's gorgeous, and I’m…” you stop yourself before you sob.
“Doll, -” “Don’t! Obviously I am not your “Doll” if you are so okay with calling her that!” you screamed.
Bucky shakes his head, putting his hands through his hair. “I don’t understand what's wrong! You told me to do this! I'm sorry I called her “Doll”. Honestly, it meant nothing!” he yelled getting frustrated.
You ignore him and walk to your bed, pulling the covers up to your neck.
“Fine, talk to me when you’re not acting like this.”
You hear Bucky mumble, before you hear the door to your room close. You lie there for a moment, before you decide that you needed to fix this. He was right. This was your idea, just because you couldn't handle it doesn't make it his fault. Though he's a dumbass for calling her "doll". You get up and open your door, walking next door to Bucky’s room. When you open the door you gasp.
Stacy's in Bucky’s room, sliding her hands up his bare chest and reaching up to kiss him, and whats worse is he is standing there holding her hips in only his towel. Tears completely flood your eyes and you leave the room without you noticing.
When Bucky returned to him room after your outburst he opened his door and saw Stacy standing there.
“What are you doing in here?” he asked, annoyed.
Stacy looks at him with innocent eyes, “I just wanted to thank you for being so nice tonight. I know I was asking a lot of questions during dinner.”
He gives her a small smile, “No problem, but if you don’t mind, I want to be alone.” he said.
“Where are you coming from in only a towel anyway,” she asked, ignoring his last comment, and stepping closer to him. “uh… my girlfriend’s room.” he stuttered, feeling uncomfortable.
“You have a girlfriend? Who? Does she know you were flirting with me?” she asked in surprise. “Y-Y/N, my girlfriend is Y/N,” he says feeling nervous.
Stacy laughed for a moment, confusing Bucky, “You’re kidding right?” she asked.
“No, I am dating Y/N. Have been for over three months. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression tonight, but I'm taken,” he said, taking a step back.
“Oh? Well, if you are flirting with me then you must be unhappy. I can make you feel better,” she said stepping closer, sliding her hands up his bare chest.
Bucky froze for a moment, holding onto Stacy’s waist to stop her coming closer. He felt very uncomfortable since he was only in a towel. She started to lean in toward his face. Finally he came to his senses and pushed her away.
“Agent, this is unacceptable behavior. I know I gave you an impression tonight and that's my fault but I just told you I'm taken. Get out of my room, now” Bucky barked at Stacy.
Stacy was shocked, but didn’t want to push him any further and ran out of the room. Bucky closed the door behind her wiping his face with his flesh hand. He quickly got dressed and went back to your room, wanting to apologize for everything. When he knocked there was no answer. He opened your door and came in.
“Baby?” he called walking further into the room. He checked the walk in closet and then the bathroom, nothing. When he came back into the room, he saw a piece of paper on the bed. He opened it and his heart immediately dropped.
Bucky,
I guess based on what I saw, I am not as crazy as I thought. Though I must be crazy to think someone who looks like me, would be loved by someone who looks like you. I hope you both are very happy together.
Your Y/N
Bucky quickly ran out of the room and went to Steve’s. He explained everything that happened, which caused some scolding from Steve.
“I mean I can’t believe you were nice to her after the comment she made about Y/N when she met her,” Steve said. Bucky shook his head, “I know. I’m a fucking moron, okay? But Y/N wanted to do this bet and it went too far. Please you have to help me find my girl. I need her to know that I…” he stopped.
“You love her,” Steve said smirking.
Bucky nodded and blew out a breath. “Please, Steve. I can’t let her think that I don’t love her. I knew she was self conscious, I should have made sure she was alright,” Bucky said kicking himself.
“Okay, pal. Relax, we will find her. Let’s ask the girls first.” Steve said leading Bucky out of his room.
“Ok so you saw Y/N was upset and yelled at her instead of comforting her? You're an asshole, Barnes," Nat yelled at him.
“Yea, I know that already. Please Nat, I need to find her,” Bucky pleaded.
“Plus that was mean to do to Stacy, but she still shouldn't have been an bitch to Y/N," She says angrily. "I don’t know where she is, but, if you got your head out of your asses and think you'll find her faster,” she snapped.
Both men looked confused, causing her to roll her eyes. “Men are morons! FRIDAY please track Y/N and send her coordinates to Barnes and Rogers STAT!” she yelled to the AI.
The men nodded their thanks and headed out.
Nat watched them leave and then called to the AI. “FRIDAY where is Stacy?”
You sat on a bench in Battery Park, staring out into the water. You honestly weren’t sure where you were going to go from here. A part of you wanted to go back to the Tower, but didn’t want to see Bucky or Stacy. You figured by now they were lying naked in his bed together. The image making you want to puke.
“Y/N” a whispered voice said, making you jump.
You turn and see Bucky standing there, relief evident in his face. “Baby, I have been looking everywhere for you.”
He sits down on the bench next to you, and you immediately tensed, something he noticed.
He swallowed the lump in his throat, “Y/N, I swear, whatever you saw, was not what you think. Stacy… she… she tried to kiss me and I froze. I-I didn’t know what to do, until I finally snapped out of it and threw her out of my room. You have to believe me.” he said grabbing your hand. You don’t look at him, knowing that if you did, you would crack.
“Why would you want to throw her out? She's perfect for you Bucky. You’re perfect for each other. She knows it, I know it, you must know it.” you say quietly, your voice threatening to crack. "This bet was stupid because it proved how right I really was."
Bucky kneels in front of you, holding your face in his hands, forcing you to look at him.
“Belles, she is not perfect for me? Is she beautiful? Sure, but you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life. I know you're self conscious about your weight and your body, but baby I love your body and I couldn’t care less about your weight because it doesn't matter. You're a strong woman who could kick anyone's ass. I…”
Bucky takes a breath and calm his nerves. “Y/N, I love you,” he says with confidence.
You look at him for a moment and then shake your head. “How can you love someone like me?” you whisper as tears flow down your face.
Bucky stands up and pulls you into his arms. “You're so amazing to me. You don’t care about my past. You only care about who I am now. And as far as how you look, you’re so fucking sexy to me baby! I grew up in a time where our woman had meat on their bones, and that's what I prefer.” he said causing you to laugh.
“Buck, I love you. I love you so much! You mean the world to me, and that's why I was so upset you ignored me tonight. I thought that you finally found someone else that you wouldn’t be embarrassed with. It's my fault for making this stupid bet,” you said.
“I’m an idiot for tonight. I didn’t realize that I was ignoring you, and I’m so sorry. I should have defended you when she was rude to you, and ignored her. Screw the bet. We were both idiots about that, it wasn't fair to Stacy, even if she is a bitch. However, I do still owe you a weekend getaway, and I promise I will be cold to her from now on,” he said kissing the top of your head. “And you, my love, will never embarrass me.”
You looked up at him, your heart racing in your chest. He leaned down and captured your lips with his. You stepped as close as you could, wrapping your arms tightly around him. When the kiss ended you whispered against his lips, “I love you.”
He smiled and pecked your lips again, “I love you too.”

Hope you liked it.

Roman Reigns & Jax Teller x Makenna (Fem Black OC) | 18+, NSFW, angst, smut | ~4,400 words
Happy reading! Read my other Jax story and Roman stories here, if you'd like. ✨
Tumblr media
Distant moonlight illuminating the black sheets felt as far away as Makenna felt lying next to a man she'd known half her life. Something was off. Maybe it was the way he fucked her tonight, something he'd done a hundred times over, but she felt unsettled by him now. His warmth felt foreign, his muscled arm trapping her against him beneath the covers feeling truly like a trap.
Maybe that was it. The savage strength, the rough play, it was succulent when it was but it could also taste raw, harsh like blood on her tongue after biting down a bit too hard as he pounded in her a bit too hard, as well. A pacing she usually craved and savored but something was off.
Or maybe it was because they had sex in a not-so-private place where how he manhandled her and how she moaned for him was likely heard by others just beyond the bedroom door.
The biker clubhouse was not the ideal place to do anything as far as Makenna was concerned, a place for Jax to handle his business with his crew, but it was often interrupted by cops trying to catch any shady dealings going down. She usually stayed away and wished Jax would, too, wish he'd come away with her, but that had never worked and never would. He was married to this business, it was his first love. And she was his second...
"I think this is the last time you're gonna see me," she spoke quietly but firmly into the dim darkness of the room. She didn't bother to look at him to see his reaction as she could feel it—his eyes boring into her and his arm around her shifting off so he could sit up next to her with an airy laugh of disbelief. She sucked her teeth in response to his response. "Naw, I'm serious. Tired of you hiding me and fucking me here of all places."
"Pssh. Yeah, right. I ain't hidin' you. This is where I am most nights when I work late and you know that." Jax sucked his teeth, too, and ran a hand back through his longish, dirty blond hair as he shook his head. "And since when do you gotta problem with it?"
"Since now," Makenna breathed out a sigh. She propped herself up on her elbows and looked to the carpet on her right at her pile of clothes strewn there, thinking it was time to get dressed. "I'm tired of this for real, Jax."
"Of what? Bein' with me? Me makin' love to you?" he asked, his slightly gravelly and deep voice rising just a little. She knew that tone and knew it well. He was looking to argue. And she was not. Nothing left to argue about.
"You don't love me and that's fine. It is what it is. But I...I want more than whatever the fuck this is." Makenna crawled out of his bed and waved her arms around her, around the bedroom. She didn't belong here anymore, in the shadows of underground chaos, secrets of men she shouldn't know, and lies she shouldn't have to tell to protect them. She never belonged.
"What the fuck this is is you tryin' to blame me because you don't know how to deal with your feelings." Jax's tone tried to cut her, that argument he wanted to have, and she wasn't having it. She ignored his words and went to grab her skinny jeans to slip on instead. But suddenly he was behind her, letting his frustration slip into words. "I've told you how I feel about you and it's never enough, is it? Told you I love you and you still leave. What do you want from me, huh? You want me to call you my ol' lady and show you off to my boys? Want me to move you into my home that I'm barely in? Want me to get you a ring? Tell me what the hell you want!"
Makenna snatched on her pink tank top hastily, hoping to hurry out of there before he or she said or did anything else they'd regret. Yet when she went to get her combat boots, his hand swallowed up her wrist to turn her to him. Not rough like before when he had both of them pinned to the bed but rather pleading, the look on his face matching when his blue eyes shone with an aggravation that withered into desperation.
"Baby." The word slipped so gently from his pretty, pink lips then, surrounded by his mustache and beard that grazed her skin when he kissed the widow's peak where her dark coils fell around her face. Makenna felt a tremble flit across her skin from his touch and she couldn't tell if was from disgust or desire. Because they've had this argument before and it always ended the same way...
"Jax," she uttered when he kissed her cheek, the hand that wasn't holding her wrist going to hold her jaw as he tipped her face up to look at him with those desperate eyes. She'd seen and heard it all before and yet she still let him pull her lips to his for the softest kiss.
"Just tell me what you want, baby. And I'll do it." Jax pressed his forehead to hers then. Pleading again. Makenna wanted to feel disgusted again but the desire was forming again, too, delicate warmth swelling where he touched now, warmth she recognized. Warmth that he knew how to turn to fire and how to tame...
"I don't know," Makenna whispered before he covered her lips with another kiss. Suddenly, that felt like the truth, all of her conviction melting away as his lips moved on hers with that desperation that tasted no longer raw but bittersweet.
Bitter as she knew better, god, she knew damn better. Years of the run-around and every time she tried to run away, she ended up back in his arms. Back in his bed. Back beneath him as he tugged off her clothes, kissed down her body, and held her to his mouth...so sweet-like. His grip on her lovingly sweet and his licks on her achingly slow. Tasting her sweetness, listening to her sweet moans that she tried to hide in the pillow.
"Tell me, baby...or is this what you want?" Jax asked in a warm purr to her wet essence, that wet glistening on his lips that he licked as he squeezed her thighs in his hands. Makenna tried to reply but he dipped his head down with a long flick of his tongue that made a whimper escape her mouth, instead. He let out a pleased hum before he said under his breath, "You wanna act like I ain't no good for you but...this feels good, doesn't it?"
That pillow in her grasp rasped with her nails running along its satin, her body running hot and trying to run up his bed as he made it feel good, made her cum good, but he kept her in place with his stronger grasp as she whined to him. And Jax drank it all in, her whines, her nectar, her soul as he slowly coaxed them from her with his arms around her and lips on her throat, telling her that bittersweet tale that she wished she could forget.
"I love you, Makenna. I love you so fuckin' much..."
The moonlight seemed closer to earth as they stepped outside in the parking lot of the clubhouse, Jax taking her hand, walking her to her car, and holding her door open for her as she slid inside. The silver rays shone from behind his head and made him look like an angel in the night, his halo only disappearing when he leaned down to give her a goodbye kiss that tasted bittersweet...
"You not gonna forget to call me, are you?" He was teasing her with his wolfish smile, but Makenna could only sniffle with a laugh as she wished could forget that, too. Yet his phone number was etched in her mind, and so was her address in his if he hadn't heard from her for too long.
"I might," she teased back but before she shut her door and started the engine, she pulled him down by the leather lapel of his cut to kiss him once more as there was something she did forget. "And I love you, too."
🖤
She should have known better than to stay up late with Jax the morning before work, but it was nothing new to her, hurrying to brush her teeth and style her curls after sleeping through her alarm, the sun blaring through her window waking her up. But Makenna refused to spend the night with the man if he wasn't her man—something he hadn't been in a long while. She remembered that time they called themselves "dating," when she called him her man and he called her his ol' lady, and everyone from his best friend, Opie, to his mother called them stupid for not getting married. Especially when she'd given three more years of her time and loyalty—time and loyalty that Jax dedicated moreover to his club—pretending to be something they're not.
Nonetheless, Makenna didn't know how to stay away from him and he wouldn't stay away from her, either. Too much of that warmth still simmering in her blood when she looked at him and when he touched her, yet that same warmth boiling over when she realized over and over she was wasting her time. Jax was a road to nowhere, she knew it. But he was also a familiar road that always seemed to lead to a place that felt like home...
"Aha. Look who showed up to work this mornin'."
She glanced up from the briefs on her desk that she wasn't proofreading, too lost in her thoughts, to find that deep, jesting voice belonging to her colleague looming over her with another manilla folder of her share of legal documents to approve in his hand outstretched to her. His other hand held a paper cup of coffee that she took from him with a little grin and mumble. "Thanks, Joe. How'd you know I needed this?"
"'Cause you came in late again. Don't know why you bother skippin' it. If you're runnin' behind, a coffee stop won't make you later." He watched her take a sip with his own grin as she raised her other hand to playfully flip him off. "Watch yourself, sweetheart. Not my fault you had a long night."
"Mind the business that minds you, 'sweetheart,'" Makenna said with her grin growing bigger when his did, too. She couldn't help but tease him when he made it a point to tease her, something he did often as her cubicle neighbor and teammate for the majority of cases the law firm took on.
Yet when Joe lingered after dropping off her paperwork and drink, his eyes on her the same dark and heady color as the coffee that warmed her palms, she could tell he had more to say. She knew what it was from the way he wiped his hand over his salt-and-pepper beard, the way his teeth skimmed his bottom lip for a second. His tell that he was thinking on how to phrase it.
"I'm just sayin'...you could do a lot better."
And there it was. Makenna had to roll her eyes but her grin stayed painted on her cherry-glossed lips, anyway. There wasn't much to read between the lines with his words, not when she'd heard them before at after-work parties or brief encounters in the break room. Joe's flirting was almost as constant as his teasing, something she couldn't deny was endearing, but she told him before like she fixed her lips to tell him again: She would not get romantically involved with her co-workers.
"Yeah? Like who? You? Don't start with me." She smirked and challenged him with another sip of her coffee that he made how she liked, black with three sugars. She challenged herself to keep her rule, no matter how attractive Joe was, no matter his little romantic gestures, no matter his rich brown gaze that tried to melt into her as he eyed her with the corner of his mouth pulled up into the handsome smirk he returned. None of it mattered when her heartbeat was elsewhere, doing god knows what, likely raising hell. Just like the hell she seemed determined to endure to love him...
Joe folded his arms over his broad chest, all of him broad as he was a beast of a man that she always found too athletic to be in a suit and corporate setting. But she found it charming when he'd told her in the past he'd given up a football scholarship to study the law instead. And now he studied her before he told her with his deep voice growing quieter and for her ears only, "Just tell me this and I'll drop it...you think that's what you deserve?"
He meant it as a compliment, Makenna knew that, but the question made that bittersweet scold her tongue when she tried to drink her hot coffee. She abruptly regretted getting friendly with him these four months since he'd transferred to her floor and telling him anything about herself as she didn't need Joe, her co-worker, to tell her what she already knew.
"Remember how I said mind your business? Learn to do that sometimes," Makenna spat and watched his grin wilt until she instantly regretted snapping at him. She did mean what she said as this wasn't the first time Joe had something to say about her choices off the clock, but she knew he meant no harm. Quite the opposite. She planted her elbows on her desk and rubbed her forehead before she added carefully, "Listen. I appreciate your concern but can we not do this today? I'm tired."
"Fair enough," he said and ran his hand over his beard again. More to say. "How about tonight then? Gon' be too tired to grab dinner? We gotta lot more of these briefs to review before we file. Let's get it done with pizza to fuel us. My treat."
Makenna let out a sigh, almost a grunt at him being so damn sweet...but a veggie pizza did sound yummy. "Yeah, alright. Fine. But I swear to god if you mention—"
"Don't nobody care about your raggedy 'boyfriend,' Makenna," he sighed, too, throwing up air quotes, but grinned and she couldn't stop the chuckle that jumped out of her. "I care 'bout you. That's all."
"I care about you, too, asshole." She glanced up at him as he rolled his eyes at her with a smirk as she did at him, simply nodding his head as he finally retreated to his desk beside her. They were separated only by a divider as tall as their computer monitors, but Joe was so tall that even when sitting, his eyes were still visible as he looked down at the paperwork on his desk. She heard the pages of them flip and his subtle cough as he cleared his throat before she heard herself murmur just as subtly, "You know he's not my boyfriend. I don't know what he is, but...he's not that."
That made his gaze slowly lift from his work as they met hers, wrinkling at the corners with another smirk she couldn't see. But his voice floated over the divider, still deep and jesting, as usual, but now with a smoldering in it that she only felt from one other man. "Good to know, sweetheart."
🖤
The two boxes of veggie and pepperoni pizza were scattered on Joe's dining room table along with a mountain of manilla folders and papers he and Makenna tried to keep organized with a stapler in their hands when there wasn't a slice in them. Each box had one or two pitiful slices left, anyway, both of them munching more to keep busy and stay open-eyed than to get full as Makenna didn't realize they were this behind on filing.
"Do you have a page from Dawson versus Richards somewhere over there? I only have two out of the three." She sorted through the stacks of paper on her side again just to be sure until she looked up at Joe holding a piece of paper in the air. Makenna got up to grab it from him but almost ripped it in half when he didn't let go right away, watching him chuckle a bit at her attempt to pry it from his strong hand before he let her have it. "Can you stop gettin' on my nerves for once? You almost made me tear it!"
"Just makin' sure you're awake. If we don't get this done tonight, Morgan will bitch tomorrow," he said and she already knew that's exactly what their boss would do. Joe turned his wrist still in the air to roll up his navy dress shirt sleeve and peep at his watch and raised his thick eyebrows with a whistle. "Shit. It's already past ten."
"Jesus," Makenna grumbled as she plopped back into her chair and stared at the work they'd yet to touch. Her eyes were growing bleary and she thought about running out to get them coffee but she wanted to be able to sleep once they were done. That's when her cell phone buzzed that was perched on a folder to her left. A tremble slipped through her to see Jax's name on the screen and, oddly, to see Joe's eyes on her, as well, his gaze filling with what looked like disappointment. She didn't let it stop her from swiping to answer, jumping up from the table again and into Joe's living room near the front door where she kept her voice hushed. "Hey, baby."
"Hey, darlin'. I know it's late but I wanted to tell you good night and I love you. Haven't talked to you all day to tell you sooner." His gravelly voice was low and beautiful in her ear and yet she felt strangely guilty to enjoy it with Joe in the other room.
"I love you, too. And it's okay. We've both been working," Makenna nearly whispered. She thought about telling Jax that she was still working but thought twice about it as she remembered what she told Joe at the office. He wasn't her boyfriend and didn't need to know her whereabouts. Especially if they were with another man, even if that man was just her colleague.
"Yeah, but I don't like goin' that long without hearin' your voice. And you sound tired so I'll let you get some rest, baby. See you tomorrow after work?"
"Of course." Makenna held her phone to her forehead after they hung up, silently cursing herself for being so in love with a man who wasn't hers before she collected herself with a sigh and headed back to Joe who was stapling a set of papers together until he muttered a tsk tsk and shook his head at her. "What?!"
"You just added another ten minutes to our workload. Hope that call was worth it," Joe replied, his words judgy but his tone teasing, like always, and making her suck her teeth with a grin.
"We'll be done before midnight. Bet."
The time on her phone screen read as 1:48 am when Makenna finally had a moment to check it. All of the files were neatly arranged on the table in alphabetic order, the staplers they borrowed from work on top, when Joe eased up from his chair to stretch his arms above his head before a yawn slipped out of him. It was contagious as she covered her mouth with a tiny yawn before she leaned over to stretch, too, touching her fingertips to her toes in her black socks. Her stiletto boots were by his door and waiting for her to slip into so she could head home and crawl directly into bed.
But when she stretched back up, she saw Joe standing in front of her with two Spanish-style glasses caught between his big fingers in his right hand and a bottle of Tapatio tequila in his left. "We deserve to celebrate a job well done. That shit was brutal."
"It was. But you don't think it's too late to, uh, celebrate?" she asked but took one of the glasses from him. She knew he was just as exhausted as her as he looked it, all but coming out of his dress shirt that was unbuttoned to reveal his white tank top beneath, as well as his long, dark hair flying away with wisps that were barely tamed in his a messy bun.
"Only if you think so." Joe shrugged but when she tapped the rim of her glass, he shot her a smile as she let him pour her a shot's worth before himself. He pulled his chair that was on the opposite end of his table to sit near her, holding his glass out until she clinked it with his. The tequila was tasty and mostly smooth but Makenna wasn't keen on shots, the slight burn making her cough and making him giggle as he reached to gently pat her on the back, the deep warmth of his touch that spread over her from his huge hand startling her into another cough. "You good? I know the first one is always the roughest, but damn."
"Yeah, and I don't need another because we have work in the morning." She hoped it was just the tequila that felt warm all over her already as she watched Joe watch her, too, with those brown eyes that crinkled when he smirked.
"And what time did you get home last night, hmm?" he teased and poked her knee. Makenna went to fuss at him for mentioning what she told him not to, but he realized his mistake and quickly added, "Oh, my bad. Don't answer that."
They chatted for a bit when he went to pour himself a second shot and put the bottle down on the table, but Makenna suddenly felt the taste for another, too. Felt the need to rinse that bittersweet taste from her mouth when she poured it herself and he observed her with surprise.
"Three-thirty," she said out of nowhere after sipping the shot slowly until she finished it. Joe looked at her perplexed and she repeated, "Three-thirty. That's when I got home."
That should have been her last shot, she knew that, but the tequila kept getting smoother and Joe kept getting easier to talk to and funnier as he made her laugh until she was doubled over in her chair. He also kept getting closer or maybe it was her gravitating towards him as one moment there was a gap between them and the next their knees were nudged together. She had half a mind to pull back but that warmth of his felt good, even in such a small amount—and it felt even better when he wrapped her in his strong arms for a bear hug when she made it to the front door a little over an hour later to head out.
"Want me to get you a Lyft?" Joe said when she didn't turn to open his door, gazing down at her with his hands on her shoulders.
"Naw, I'm good," Makenna lied. She felt fine but the truth was she didn't feel ready to leave. A truth she was ashamed to admit as she was certain it was the tequila's fault. It made the warmth of his grasp smolder into her skin under her blouse, that same smolder she saw in his dark eyes earlier filling them now as she gazed up at him. The same smolder that she thought no one but Jax could make her crave. But before she knew it, the tequila gravitated her to him once more, first with her hands cradling the sides of his bearded face and then with her lips on his, craving the soft, fullness of his mouth that was so warm and inviting.
The shock quivered through them both, she could feel it with her body rolling with heat where his slightly shaky hands fell to her waist. Pulling her closer but then pushing her up against his door until his warmth surrounded her, until their kiss got good, deeper, messier, until their breathing got frantic, too frantic that Makenna thought her heart would beat right out of her chest. That damn tequila, it made her struggle to pull away from him, Joe holding her so deliciously tight, anyway, until she whimpered on his tongue, "Tell me we should stop. Tell me this is a bad idea."
Another lie, one that she should have known better for Joe of all people to let her utter as his nose still nestled to hers as he whispered back, "Doesn't feel like a bad idea to me..."
His nose nestled to her neck next before his mouth did, too, tracing the length of it with his soft kisses that tried to remind her of another but his lips were thicker and his hand larger when it fit between her thighs to hold one with long fingers that fit at the seam of her pants, too. The heat that had been swirling in her seemed to gather at the tips of those fingers as he swirled them so lightly at that seam, but right where Joe seemed to know she wanted them when he looked at her as her lips parted with a light moan to match.
"...How did that feel to you?"
"Good..."
He caught her next moan with his tongue, the next swirl of her heat with his middle fingers sank into it, and her next lie with his bulky arms boxing her in underneath him as his hips drove forward with deep, grinding thrusts that made her hide her face in his pillow with whines that all felt so familiar yet so new.
"Whatchu mean you can't take this dick? You takin' me so good...fffuck, sweetheart. I know you can give me another one..." Joe's silky hair left tingles along her skin as his lips left trails of kisses from her spine to her shoulder as he hooked his hand around her waist then, not letting her run from that good feeling.
It didn't matter how much she whined and cried and clutched at his sheets, Makenna wanted more of that good feeling. It felt too warm, too pure, too much like the feeling she had been missing out on for a while. She didn't know what to call that feeling but it felt like not worrying about her phone buzzing in the other room. It felt like letting herself indulge, letting someone spoil her while asking for nothing in return.
And as she watched Joe's fingers that weren't dug into her skin slide up his covers that she gripped until they laced through hers, his breath warm on her skin and his words sweet in her ear, she decided she'd run in the wrong direction, and from that good feeling, long enough.

Lee Jeno x Male Reader
warnings: idol boyfriend jeno,blowjob,unprotected sex,bathroom sex,roughsex,etc.
The night at the concert, you were in the crowd, like any other person, with your lightstick and a banner to support your boyfriend, Lee Jeno who is performing.
Nobody knows that you're in a relationship with the idol that is on the stage with his members right now, the concert was mind blowing, it went so well, all the members gave their all, but Renjun couldn't be there because he was in a hiatus. And when they performed 'Smoothie' Jeno suddenly took off his shirt, shocking the members and all the people there, his well toned abs and his biceos, his mucles were all so manly, nobody could take their eyes off him.
Even though he's very hot and sexy, you were sonehow feeling sad, and jealousy starts building up deep inside you. You couldn't think straight, everybody, literally everybody at the concert has seen your boyfriend shirtless, you feel like something that has always been yours have been taken away from you. Seeing your boyfriend shirtless on stage having fun while everyone is drooling over him somehow makes you angry.
And after that he act al cute and innocent later at the concert, knowing damn well what he did.
After the concert, Jeno texted you telling you to meet him backstage, but you just ignored his message which confused Jeno, and eventually he calls you on the phone, "Hi babe, I was texting you but you weren't replying, can you please check your message..." he says, you just said yes and checked the message.
Then, you went to the backstage as Jeno asked you to, the members were there, greeting you with warm smiles and you could tell behind their happy faces they were really tired, it was such a long show.
Jeno hugs you from behind and says,"Hi baby boy, I've missed you",he pecks your cheeks, and you just stood stilk, not even reacting. Jeno was a bit confused, he can tell from your face that you were upset. So, he tries to lighten your mood, he asks you about the show, whether you liked it or not and you just ignored him which made Jeno wonder what he did wrong.
At the drive home, you stayed silent while Jeno talked about the show, how good it feels to perform on stage, you just listened without giving him any response.
Wanting to gain your attention, he kissed your lips softly, you just pulled away and told him to focus on the road and keep on driving. He was a bit sad, not knowing what made you upset, "Do you want to get ice cream?" he asked to which you replied,"I'm not in the mood to eat ice-cream", Jeno is now feeling bad.
You finally reached your shared apartment and as soon as you ckosed the door, Jeno pinned you against the wall, "Why are you ignoring me?" he said, "I'm not",you replied, "You were having fun right?" you added, Jeno had no clue,a look of confusion on his face, you rolled your eyes and headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
You entered the shower and took off your clothes, standing completely naked in front of the mirror, now you turned on the shower, the water was warm, it was really relaxing. On the other side of the door, Jeno was pacing back and forth, wanting to apologise, he snuck in tye bathroom and suddenly hugs you from behind, "Baby, please stop ignoring me...I'm sorry", he said, but you rolled your eyes, "Can you please get out, I'm not done yet...you can come back when I'm done", you said.
This time Jeno had enough, he sighed, then he suddenly turned you around to face him, manhandling you and he just started kissing you roughly, the kiss was rough, it was intense. So intense that you could swnse all the frustrations he was facing. "I've had enough", he said, then you mentioned about what he did on stage, then Jeno's eyes widened, "All I did was trying my best, and now you're complaining, it's frustrating...", he said, then he pulled you back in for another kiss.
His clothes are all soaking wet now, he ripped his shirt off, still kisding you, the kiss was driving you insane, all you could think of was how hot he was on stage, with all hos sweat dripping down his body.
Now Jeno finally pulled away, then he pulled his boxers down, revealing his big hard cock which sprung up in an instand, he took your hand and let you stroke it slowly, precum dripping from the tip of his dick, you kneeled down licking his precum clean, his dick was a bit salty and musky since he was sweating so much from the concert.
You are now bobbing you head up and down his big cock, taking it balls deep, Jeno throwing his head back, rolling his eyes back, he felt so good, you look up at him with teary eyes, Jeno looked down at you, the sight was like the hottest thing for him, he always liked to see you face while you suck him off.
After several minutes Jeno pulled back and lifts you up, he bend you down as you held on the sink for support, Jeno then stroked his dick and placed himself on your entrance, he suddenly thrust, balls deep, making you scream, it feels like your hole is gonna tear, even though you had sex with Jeno countless times, you're never able to adjust to his size. Then he started moving, his pace was rough and hard, your moans filled the bathroom, Jeno grunts, your reflection on the mirror as he was fucking you was making him more excited, then he started moving even faster, making you scream in pleasure, Jeno always loved it when you moan. Most of the times, you act all tough but when Jeno's in control, you're just a little hopeless kitty.
Minutes passed and you jave switched to different positions, you felt you orgasm approaching, Jeno xan easily tell from how your breath becomes faster, then he grabbed your cock and placed his thumb on your tip, "Wait for me", he said, you moaned louder, Jeno's thrust are now faster and harder, he was also about to cum, "Cumming", he whispered, just then, he released your cock, you came on the bathroom floof as Jeno buried his seed deep inside your hole.
After that you took a shower together, after care is what Jeno is a about, he is a monster when it comes to sex, but he takes good care of you as if he didn't just toom your ability to walk.
Then you walked out of the bathroom, changed into comfy clothes and then cuddled on the bed. "I'm sorry baby", he said, "I did it just for you", he added, "I was just jealous, that everyone got to see my hot boyfriend shirtless",you replied, Jeno was smiling, your words turned him on again, you can tell from his face. He was now ready for a second round, he's got that stamina of a fucking beast, then you just pretended to be asleep, knowing what wilk happen if you didn't.

Fishing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Matt sturniolo x reader
warnings & a/n: suggestive(??), cursing. I don’t think there’s any warnings really just something short and sweet💗
Tumblr media
Matt chuckles at your sour face as he holds his hand out waiting for you to take it. "Come on it will be a good experience, this one was your idea anyways."
you hate the noise your every step causes, but you're just relieved to finally be under shade.
You and Matt had created a bucket list during the summer and it was your pick to do one thing the other has never done before. So when Matt found out you've never been fishing before. He decided to take matters into his own hands and to teach you how to fish.
"OW" he yelped, that's when you noticed you went from gripping just the material of his shirt to digging your nails into his skin out of fear. "i've got you, you can chill''
"sorry" you say, smoothing your hand down the spot.
"isn't this where leeches and things like that are" you ask as you carefully start to scan the trail with your eyes.
"yeah..." he stops, pulling you back. "Wait I think..." he trails off staring into a spot, pretending he's seen something.
"Quit fooling around and take us where we need to go" you insist, tugging on his arm to move him.
-
After Matt's assured you that he's 99% sure leeches or any of these little bugs wouldn't get into your things, you start to set them down.
"WAIT I GOT ONE" he exclaims, hooking and reeling it back quickly
He looks back to see if you’re watching from your squatted position only to lose it just as quickly "fuckk" he huffs out clicking his tounge “I almost had it too”
You break out into a fit of laughter at his genuine disappointment. He had the goal of catching 5 to the thought of just 1 being a maybe.
he acts out a walk of shame towards you
“no i saw it, don't worry” you try to encourage even if you can’t help the small laughs you let out.
“Hahah funny” his voice monotone, but his face deceives him because it’s evident that he’s holding back the biggest smile
“Okay let’s see what you’ve got” he says motioning you to go over to him
“Hopefully a lot better than whatever’s got you” you remark, as you walk towards him
Chuckling, he hooks an arm around your waist pulling you closer.
“You’re gonna press this button as you pull it back” he steps aside to demonstrate. “And let it go as soon as it hits the water, alright?”
“Okay I think I’ve got” you say, but more so to yourself. Mirroring his exact actions, you press the button, pull the rod back, and pull it down towards the water.
"nice cast!" he says, his face beaming. Your just as surprised that it actually landed instead of it getting stuck in your hair when you pulled back
“Now reel it in” he reaches in beneath your arms and positions your hands correctly. “Nice and steady” he instructs, you can feel his hot breath on your neck brushing his fingers over yours as he hold them in place
“A little more speed so we don’t get hung up at the bottom” he leans in closer towards you as you subconsciously, but slightly tilt your head back. “But slow enough so that a fish can catch on.” His body is pressed directly behind your own, his leg in between yours for balance and you can feel your heart beating faster
You liked the way he made you feel, like you could do anything. Things you’ve never thought of doing and still end up enjoying it.
“Good girl, you’re already a natural” he whispers in your ear and you smiled as you took your bottom lip between your teeth
“You think so?” You ask looking up at him
“I know so” he’s smirking, until something starts tugging on the rod
"OKAY LOOK I think we got it!””look!” He says, practically shouting at you
"i'm looking!” You shout back
He places his hand on yours helping you reel it back. You’d think this was a whale by how hard it is to pull it out
"yeahh" you say smiling wide as you finally see the medium sized fish that fell for the bait
He unhooks the fish from the rod "oh my god a long time coming fish"
"can i hold him"
"yeah here" pulling it off his finger for it to latch onto yours
"im holding it, im holding it" you say, giggling, as you hold the fish inches away from yourself.
He laughs finding your excitement amusing
“Nice” he praises, taking it to throw it back into the water
You go to squat next to him as you both watch it swim away.

but like… men with emotions…
i mean simon riley thinking his love isnt enough for reader and apologising for it AHHH or like generally being insecure and sure that reader is gonna leave him:(((( and reader comforts him soooooooo sweetly
You and Simon had been at it for a while. When Simon is pissed, he's as stubborn as a brick wall, what is right to him is right to all. And you can't change it, knowing you, you don't fall for any of it, you're willing to argue to get your point across.
"I'm not done!" You yelled as followed him into your shared bedroom, "I heard you already," His voice boomed, "You sound like a broken record." He waved you off. You bit your tongue, holding in the words that would so desperately tried to escape. You nodded to yourself backing off.
Hours later Simon walked into the kitchen where you reheated left overs from yesterday. He cleared his throat trying to get your attention, you obviously ignored him, still to angry and out of it to have a proper conversation.
"Can we talk?" His voice breaking the silence between you two. You turn to look at him, only shrugging and then going back to look at the microwave. Simon sighed, "I'm not good with words, and you know this."
You roll your eyes as if he could see, "I don't want to leave and have you mad at me the whole time- I've never had something like this." Simon said and your eye almost twitched, "Simon I'm your girlfriend, not a contract." You snap, to which Simon sighed yet again, "Can you just listen?" the tension rising again, "I love you and sometimes, I get overwhelmed."
You scoff, "So now what?" You cut the conversation, Staring Simon down, "I love you stupendously, but half the time I am begging you to tell me you love me, or to show me you love me the way you say you do."
"I do love you..." Simon started, You sighed, "We're going in circles." You rubbed your forehead, "Just, go somewhere." You tell him, Simon nods and leaves you alone for the rest of the day, You at one end of the house while he's at the other.
When night time approaches, you slip into bed next to Simon who was on his side. You peer over his shoulder, causing him to flinch, "what the fuck." He whisper shouts, "Sorry, I thought you were asleep." You say frantically, "I'm awake."
"Sorry," You mumbled as you lay back down, Simon flips on his back watching you get your pillows to your liking. "Come here," He says softly pulling you into his arms, placing a kiss on the crown of your head. "I'm sorry." He says, "It's fine." You brush him off, "I'm sorry." He says again, "I know I piss you off."
"You don't, I just get frustrated." You clarified, "It's okay to be mad with me. It's normal to get angry with someone."
"I know that. I don't get mad at you, I get mad at what you do, or what you don't do. there's a difference." Simon hums in response, "You still get mad at me."
"I"m gonna start right now if you don't stop and go the fuck to sleep."

EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE (2022) PROMPTS *  assorted dialogue from the film, adjust as necessary
in another life, i would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you.
the universe is so much bigger than you realize.
maybe we would have been better off if we had never gotten married.
why are you dressed all stupid?
you're just very bad at explaining.
how did i die?
he who loves the most regrets the most.
why would anybody want to kill me?
it's the way you look at me.
how do you think i feel?
you can either come with me and live up to your ultimate potential, or lie here and live with the consequences.
do you still want to do your party?
you are not unlovable. there is always something to love.
you think i'm weak, don't you?
can we just stop fighting?
you're capable of anything because you're so bad at everything.
i'm tired. i don't want to hurt anymore.
i still want to be here with you. i will always, always want to be here with you.
if nothing matters, then all the pain and guilt you feel for making nothing of your life goes away.
we're all small and stupid.
i wasn't looking for you so i could kill you.
so what? you're just gonna ignore everything else?
i will cherish these few specks of time.
i've been on this earth just as many days as you.
i know better than to ask to help you.
so we'll talk later... like this afternoon?
you look really pretty right now.
you took everything away from me.
we're all useless alone.
i don't know what i'd do without you.
i only made enough food for three people. i'll have to cook more.
i always learn something when i hang out with the elderly. old people are very wise.
everything i do, i try to make things simpler, easier.
maybe you can audition, too.
i don't know how to be any fucking clearer.
i didn't mean that. it was a joke.
the only thing i do know... is that we have to be kind.
i know you see yourself as a fighter.
that's not a very funny joke.
actors are very poor.
it's nice to feel needed.
i was thinking, maybe after this is all done, we can go on a trip.
if i have to think about one more thing today, my head will explode.
you may be in grave danger. there is no time to explain. hold this.
can't you see how wonderful it'll be? we can make our own way.
i'm here because we need your help.
sorry, very busy today. no time to help you.
i have spent years searching for the one who might be able to match this great evil with an even greater good and bring back balance.
i know it's a lot to take in right now.
i can see where this story's going, and it doesn't look good.
you're always trying to confuse us with these words.
i know you. with every passing moment, you fear that you might have missed your chance to make something of your life.
don't let anything distract you from it.
our time here is up. they are going to kill us.
i may be old, but i still know how to negotiate.

Hii, hope you're doing well!! I've been meaning to check out more c-dramas. I've never really watched any, but I keep seeing them on my dash and want to start giving some a shot since I watch every other type of drama (BL or otherwise lol). I saw you post often about c-dramas, so I wanted to ask if you had any other recs besides Tender Light (which I'm planning on watching when it's done)? I'm more curious about c-dramas in general rather than any specific genre, since I'm so new to them
Hello, thank you for the ask! I'm glad my obsessive Tender Light posting has got you curious about cdramas. Some of my all time favorite dramas are from Mainland China, and I would be happy to share some recs! Since you are looking for a general sense, I am just going to give you a sampling of some of my personal favs.
Tender Light
Tumblr media
Obviously I will be taking this opportunity to talk up this drama some more, which will be ending its run this weekend. This is, hands down, my favorite drama of the year and easily going on my top 10 dramas of all time list. It's one of the most gorgeous and precise and unflinching pieces of media I have ever seen. This is definitely one for people who love smart mystery writing, dark themes (I mean this for real, if you have a lot of triggers ask for CWs), and explorations of the human condition. It will be staying with me for a long time.
Go Ahead
Tumblr media
Another of my all time favs (and with cast crossover from Tender Light), this is a family drama that digs deep on the meaning of family, finding your people, and resilience through intergenerational trauma. I love it so so much (I am actually rewatching it right now).
Lighter & Princess
Tumblr media
A fantastic romance and owner of a coveted spot on the ride or die drama couples list. In this story you get to watch these two fall in love twice, first in college and then as adults, and both times it's epic.
Reset
Tumblr media
How about a time loop thriller? This is one of the best I have ever seen, and its relatively short run keeps it tight and tense all the way through. There's a romance in this one, too, but kissing is definitely secondary to finding their way out of this death trap.
The Rebel Princess
Tumblr media
Let's dip our toe into historicals! Granted, I still have plenty of gaps in my historical cdrama watch list (there are just so many and they're so long, I am doing my best people!) but this remains my all time favorite to date. It's epic, it's shockingly well written and paced for its length, the characters are excellent and compelling all around, and it has one of my all time favorite male leads and drama couples (another from the ride or die list!). Don't let the episode number intimidate you, it will fly by much faster than you think.
The Untamed
Tumblr media
You watch bl so I am assuming you already know about Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, but just in case I will also include this drama as a much watch. It's likely the best live action danmei we will ever get.
Love Between Fairy and Devil
Tumblr media
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if a show put all your favorite fanfic tropes in a blender, cast beautiful people to act them out, and put them in lavish costumes? Well, here is your answer.
Love and Redemption
Tumblr media
This one's for us angst with a happy ending girlies. An epic love story with lots of pining and struggle and strife, and it's so worth it.
Falling Into You
Tumblr media
Back to the modern era, this is a classic sports drama with a noona romance. Very unassuming but full of charm and very well executed.
Fake It Till You Make It
Tumblr media
An unusually mature take on adult romance from a cdrama, this one is about two career focused permasingle love skeptics who meet, realize they actually like each other, and try to figure out what the hell to do with that. I love it a lot.
That should be enough to get you started! There are many many more recs to be had, so once you give some of these a try and figure out what you like, feel free to hit me up for more!

Starchaser band au
Any trope or type
Maybe like them being rival bands but they are in a secret relationship and write and sing songs about eachother at their shows
Also maybe the media could find out about it because of the songs or something idk
gotcha.
JEGULUS. 623 words. RIVAL BANDS. AWARD SHOW.
"And the winner is... Regulus Black!"
Everyone was clapping. The entire room was suddenly plunged in the loud maelstrom of noise caused by the announcement. People stood up. James stood up too. He had been nominated in the best songwriter of the year category too, but he stood up.
The camera zoomed on his face; he knew cameras were on him, but he ignored them. He played it nonchalantly, standing up slowly, clapping like a fair loser, a little polite smirk at the corner of his lips. Truth was, he wanted to grin fully, to meet Regulus' eyes. Unfortunately, the latter had been sitting in the back, and James' assigned seat was front row.
Regulus walked up to the stage. Shook a few hands. Adjusted the microphone.
"Thank you. Thank you everyone. I am beyond grateful to be able to stand here in front of you today. If it wasn't for Evan telling me, four years ago, that I could write our bands songs, for trusting me with such an important part of our albums, I would never have gotten this opportunity."
He let out a chuckle, and waved somewhere in the crowd. James guessed he was waving at Evan, and at the rest of the Green Roses, Barty and Dorcas.
Sirius, next to James, elbowed him.
"He's being a bit arrogant, isn't he?"
James smiled downwardly, shrugging at his friend.
"You're not too upset he won instead of you? I know you two had this rivalry. I mean, our band won best performance, but..."
"No, I'm good," James soberly answered, eyes still fixed attentively on Regulus. His stylist had done his aura justice, tonight. James, at this point was not really listening anymore. He was instead drooling, in his seat front row, eyeing the man up and down in his lace top and his pretty pants showing off his ass. He only wanted one thing. Regulus for look at him. His prayers must have been heard somewhere because Regulus then looked down at him from the stage. Directly gazing at him without looking away. James didn't either.
"I've been pushed to always write the best songs. And I believe... there's a difference: between the songs that are meant to be sung, and the ones that are meant to be heard."
James grinned. So did Regulus. Both of their band's songs were meant to be heard... by each other. James knew the Green Roses' songs were about him. And he was more or less sure Regulus knew the Marauders' were about him too.
"I wrote songs meant to be heard. I wrote songs that were meant to be embodied. I think I am, today, lucky enough to say that the person meant to hear them has been able to see them performed several times."
James chuckled to himself, laughing with his nose.
"That's why I'd like to thank The Marauders. For always dragging James Fleamont Potter to our concerts. Thank you everyone," He concluded with the biggest and smugiest smirk ever, knowing look in James' direction, pushing the mic away and holding his trophy up one last time, under the scandalised and supportive cheers and whistles of the crowd.
James now couldn't stop the smirk blooming on his face. He knew the cameras were still pointed on him, and that he probably should keep a straight face. But he couldn't help it. Regulus looked so smug. Tongue poking his cheek, he ended up sliding his eyes back to his band mates. Remus, Lily and Marlene were looking at him with wide eyes from their seats. But the one that said something first was the one sitting at his right, Sirius, singer and guitarist. Accessoringly James' best friend. Accessoringly Regulus' brother.
"James?!" Sirius let out, jaw dropped but hint of a smile on his face, visibly shocked, as James struggled to keep his lips sealed into a neutral expression.
the end ;)
feel free to send more asks...

lyrics from the songs on my oldies playlist ... sentence starters
"You're a fine girl."
"It doesn't hurt me."
"Here comes the sun."
"Yeah, you turn me on."
"Come and get your love."
"Where did we go wrong?"
"I believe this is killing me."
"You don't wanna hurt me."
"You had a busy day today."
"Don't you feel right, baby?"
"I'll remember you this way."
"Say your prayers, little one."
"I couldn't leave her if I tried."
"You come to look for a king."
"Surely heaven waits for you."
"Lay your weary head to rest."
"Welcome to the human race."
"Hey, you with the pretty face!"
"My, my, how can I resist you?"
"I'm not really sure how it goes."
"Only you, and you can hear me."
"What a good wife you would be."
"You had to hide away for so long."
"But it's better than drinkin' alone."
"Son, can you play me a memory?"
"Look at me now, will I ever learn?"
"Never mind that noise you heard."
"All we need is just a little patience."
"You know that I'm not that strong."
"What's the matter with your mind?"
"It's been a long, cold, lonely winter."
"Tonight, I wanna see it in your eyes."
"Night is young and the music's high."
"There'll be peace when you are done."
"There'll be peace when you are done."
"And today is the day we've waited for."
"And now she's in me, always with me."
"I've been too long, I'm glad to be back."
"Take it slow and it'll work itself out fine."
"Well, we're all in the mood for a melody."
"I wish that every kiss was never-ending."
"Disappointment haunted all my dreams."
"You just don't realize what you do to me."
"I thought love was only true in fairy tales."
"Let me steal this moment from you, now."
"Your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea."
"With a bit of rock music, everything is fine."
"See how the sun shines brightly in the city."
"What's the use in trying? All you get is pain."
"But my life, my love, and my lady is the sea."
"I think you know that you won't be away too long."
"I've been cheated by you since I don't know when."
"Love was out to get me. That's the way it seemed."
"Don't try to push your luck, just get out of my way."
"Do you wanna hear about the deal that I'm making?"
"I was made for you and, girl, you were made for me."
"I was made for lovin' you, baby, you were made for lovin' me."
"And I can't get enough of you, baby. Can you get enough of me?"
"And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know."
"And wouldn't it be nice to live together? In the kind of world where we belong?"
"When you hold me in your arms so tight, you let me know everything's alright."
"But it's sad, and it's sweet, and I knew it complete when I wore a younger man's clothes."

I made this other post about the Emperor and Ansur once, but I had more things I wanted to say and couldn't quite fit in without muddying my point.
This is perhaps a bit of a reach, but this is not the first time I've found a portrayal of turning into a monster that I relate to as a chronically ill / disabled person who became ill later in life. It has nothing to do with feeling monstrous (I don't feel monstrous) or even body horror, and everything to do with how disabled people are treated by society and even those closest to us.
Obviously disabled people don't go around eating brains. We are not dangerous any more than abled people are. But becoming a mindflayer (or whatever monster) is comparable in the sense that, it can happen suddenly, and then your whole life is different, your body is not what it used to be (maybe visually, maybe the way it works or doesn't work now), and you need certain accommodations in order to thrive or even just survive. But people treat you differently now, you're not really given any help, and truthfully a lot of people would rather you just be dead. You're abandoned by society to figure out your new life and all its difficulties on your own. If you're lucky, you have some people who care enough to help you. If you're not lucky, you do the best you can in your desperation.
And that's why it feels so messed up to me that Ansur just gave up on Balduran/Emperor once he couldn't cure him. He clearly believes this is still Balduran, as shown by how he speaks to him when you meet him. So in his mind, he wasn't even trying to kill some creature that just had Balduran's memories. He was trying to kill Balduran. Who forcibly underwent a change to his body and accepted it and decided he still wanted a chance at living.
Edit to add: I'm pretty sure the Emperor even says it wasn't easy at first, so he didn't immediately embrace being a mindflayer. He came to accept it with some time, and that feels even more significant to me.
Like I said, I know becoming a mindflayer is not exactly the same as becoming disabled because mindflayers are dangerous. But also like I said, in my other post, the game shows us there are options to living ethically as a mindflayer. It's just that no one even helped the Emperor try to find them. And even so, he did his best on his own by eating criminals (which there is proof of, in a transcript).
I don't even blame him for disguising himself to the player at first. Look at how society treats freed mindflayers. Look at how the Emperor's own best friend and lover treated him. It makes perfect sense to assume we would hurt him or refuse to help him too.
Some people are so quick to forgive the companions for all the messed up things they've done because they have trauma. The Emperor has been through shit too though. He wouldn't admit to having trauma, but he was kidnapped, had his body forcibly changed, had his mind enslaved, had his lover try to kill him, had to kill his lover in self-defense, and was enslaved a second time. Sounds pretty traumatic to me.
Anyway. It's probably random to end this by talking about books, but that's what I do (literally, I also have a book blog), so. The other stories I also related to in this way were Dead Collections by Isaac Fellman (vampires) and Bored Gay Werewolf by Tony Santorella (werewolves). Maybe look 'em up, if you like that sorta thing.

Tumblr media
"I'm so glad we're finally meeting in person...." Rachel told her online boyfriend, Jason.
"You look even more perfect than I hoped. Sounds like your voice is dropping nicely, darling."
Rachel smiled. "Three months on testosterone will do a fakegirl good." She stuck out her estrogen-fattened moobs. "I'm horny 24/7. I used to never even get erections. I was such a good girl...."
"But deep down you're just a dirty sissy playing dress up. She me what you've done to yourself for me, angel."
With a deep breath, blushing, Rachel untucked her erect cock, pulling it out of her lacy panties. She let it stick straight out, eight inches, as Jason smiled. "Is it..... to your liking?"
He reached out, jerking it as Rachel trembled. Her cock was never more than a nub. She showed it online if men asked really nicely in her DMs or questioned if she was actually trans. Most people didn't believe her. Perfectly feminine voice, gorgeous face, full natural breasts, wide hips. People thought she was claiming to be trans for views, especially since you couldn't see any bulge in her bikini pics. She told her skeptics she went on puberty blockers by ten, and hormones at twelve. Not a drop of testosterone ever coursed through her system, that was, until Jason messaged her.
He told her he believed she was a fakegirl, a boy pretending to be a girl, and he wanted to help. Curious, Rachel played along with his transphobic little tangent. He kept misgendering her, telling her how beautiful she'd be as a detrans femboy. Still wearing girl clothes, makeup, looking like a girl but finally with a guy's voice, her real voice, as he put it. To get her silly fakegirl tits removed. Grow a cute five o'clock shadow that tells everyone who she really is. Instead of blocking him, she allowed herself to be led by his fantasies of detransitioning her. She slowly became corrupted by his messages, taking them to heart more by the day.
Soon in public when people called her a girl she started correcting them, saying she was born a boy and wearing girl stuff was like a kink for her. She used the men's room, and relished all the attention she got in there, even offering her mouth as a urinal. She started trying to get her cock going, rubbing it, pleasuring herself, but she couldn't get it erect. She complained to Jason and he told her she knew what the solution was. Scared by thinking more with her cock than anything, she publicly announced she was detransitioning on social media and started testosterone, and a healthy dose of dick-growth supplements.
Now she understood what Jason wanted from her. She was horny 24/7. Her cock was impossible to hide. She was starting to get correctly gendered as a boy because of her bulge and cracking, male puberty voice. By the third month she figured her cock was big enough to impress Jason, and invited him over.
"It's beautiful, sweetheart," Jason said, jerking Rachel off. "How many times a day do you get off now?"
"Ten..... at least. I masturbate in public. On the train in my pretty clothes. I masturbate in the men's room. Sometimes I do it in the women's room just to get thrown out. I can't control my erections at all. I'm hard constantly. But I only want my cock bigger and even more out of control."
"You're just like every other pretty fakegirl I've done this to, you know?"
"What? I'm not the only one....."
"Of course not, princess. But don't worry, you'll love all my the other pretty detrans boys I have back at my estate. Once we get those embarrassing boy-tits of yours taken care of."
"Oh! Oh..... fuck! Thank you!" Rachel came as Jason aimed her cock up at her breasts and face. She made a mess all over herself and had no instinct to clean it. She panted in place, eager to please her boyfriend even more.
"You're welcome. Now, I think it's time I set you up with my friend Alex, who's a surgeon. He can have that chest of yours nice and flat in no time. Once you're ready, I'll introduce you to the others."
"Then what?"
"You'll be another of my slutty femboy whores, who I pimp out to rich politicians and businessmen who just love boys like you when they're away from their boring wives on business..... What do you say?"
"Sounds perfect...... I can't wait to fully detrans and whore my new body for you."
"Good boy."

Donut Hole - Chapter 21
Everything Goes On
When you meet me in the daylight, like we did before Then I felt you on my shoulder, and you weren't suffering anymore You said: "I'm sorry that you worry, but don't apologize" I told you to forget me, but you stayed by my side, when I said- - Everything Goes On, Porter Robinson
[it's...over?] [ao3 link]
Dawn tugged at the edges of her scarf. The commander sat at his desk, Cyllene by his side, and the Clan Leaders stood besides her. The air was tense, terribly so. It did not help that neither Irida nor Adaman could seem to look her in the eyes.
There was no talking. There was no sound, period.
Finally, Kamado cleared his throat, and addressed Cyllene without looking away from Dawn and the leaders. “Cyllene. If you’d please.”
“This list has been compiled from eye-witnesses.” she began. “From both clan members, Wardens, and Leaders.”
To her left, Irida shifted nervously. Adaman crossed his arms over his chest.
Cyllene continued. “Assault. Theft. Destruction of property. Assault.”
Dawn’s blood turned to ice, and the weight of this meeting finally settled on her like a rock.
Barry, evidently, had been very, very busy.
He had said something earlier, about being ‘stupid’, but Dawn couldn’t ask about it before Cyllene came to visit.
It was probably a good thing, in hindsight, that Barry fainted almost immediately after. If he really thought this was a universe where Cyrus won, that interaction could’ve gone much worse.
“-Causing a landslide and destroying half of the Diamond Clan Settlement. Burning down half of the Pearl Clan Settlement. More Assault. Deliberately attacking the Noble Pokemon.”
Dawn was starting to feel lightheaded.
This had to be a mistake. Barry couldn’t do all that, Barry wouldn’t do that! He was so thin and tired and weak in the medical wing, he was a danger to himself more than anyone!
“Another assault, this time using a pokemon. Attacking a Noble Pokemon. Assault. Assault. Attacking a Noble Pokemon. Attacking a Noble Pokemon.”
How was there so much?
Kamado raised his hand. “I believe that’s enough.” He leaned a bit closer over his desk. “Dawn. If I recall correctly, this is your friend? ”
She tried swallowing the lump in her throat.
“Care to give us an explanation?”
Dawn briefly thought about lying. Thought about lying her little heart out. She had been barely accepted by Jubilife as an outsider, but Barry would have to fight uphill with a list a mile long like that.
He'd get kicked out. Thrown to the luxrays to be devoured and torn to shreds. He could even reflect badly on her , and she'd be tossed out after him-
No. No more lying. She had done enough of that, lying about her memory.
Dawn took a deep breath. “I've been doing a lot of…thinking, since Barry arrived. About him, about me - about my life before here. It's still so fuzzy, but he's helped me fill in some of the gaps.”
“There was a group of… Bad People. They were Bad People who did Bad Things. They stole things, attacked others, they planted explosives in the local lake...They wanted to destroy my home, they wanted to destroy everything. They wanted the world to be reduced to ash and darkness and nothingness. ”
She tried not to look at anyone directly, but she almost swore she saw Kamado’s face soften.
“Barry and I tried to fight back, tried to drive them away. We barely made it out with our lives. I think…” she hesitated. “Barry thought that the clans were the Bad People. He thought you took me away, he thought I was in danger. His memory is faulty, just like mine, and he’s terribly sick. I’m sure he didn’t mean it! He was just worried about me!”
Irida put a hand to her face, and Adaman uncomfortably shifted from one foot to the other. Kamado leaned back in his chair with a thoughtful hum. “...hm. I see.”
He addressed the leaders now. “And you two. What do you wish to do with the boy?”
Dawn tried to subtly glance at the leaders to see their faces. They looked just as anxious as she felt.
“Well, we…we still think-” Irida stuttered and stammered.
“The boy needs to be punished.” Adaman finished for her, speaking in a rush, as if he just wanted the words out of his mouth as fast as he could.
Dawn felt her heart stop and tears well in her eyes. They were going to exile him, or maybe they were going to do something worse. Was this the time period where they stoned people to death? They were going to kill him, either directly or indirectly.
How could they say that? How could they think that after telling them why?
Kamado nodded and looked at Cyllene. “And what do you think of all this?”
Cyllene looked at the leaders. Cyllene looked at Dawn.
“...you want my honest opinion, Commander?”
“Your honesty is all I ever ask for.”
There was a long period of silence as Cyllene thought of an answer.
“I believe the boy should contribute to the Survey Corps.”
“WHAT?!”
The leaders and Dawn were on the same confused page, it seems.
“I believe we need a bit more from you, Cyllene.” Kamado said, sounding a tad confused as well.
Cyllene straightened at Kamado’s comment. “The boy was brought in with a bag containing five Pokeballs. Each ball contained a pokemon he had caught, raised, and trained with no guidance or assistance from us. A single person training any pokemon is a feat. A young boy training five pokemon is astounding.”
She turned to Kamado. “The fact that he could use Pokeballs with no training, and the fact that he was able to survive Hisui alone, shows his resourcefulness, strength, and his adaptability.”
Cyllene turned back to the Clan Leaders, who were still clearly surprised by her thoughts on the matter. “Here, not only will he work for his room and board, but he will work to repay his crimes…perhaps by assisting you?”
Adaman and Irida were stunned into complete silence, looking at one another to try and force words to appear.
“I find this solution to be agreeable.” Kamado interrupted. “That way, we can keep a close eye on him, to make sure he doesn't cause any more trouble. You two can't seem to come up with a reason as to why we should not …so I am going to assume this is the best option going forward. Dismissed.”
Having lost their opportunity to object, Irida and Adaman slowly left the commander's chamber. Dawn waited for them to leave, not wanting to talk to them at the moment.
Before she could leave, Kamado cleared his throat to get her attention. “I'm serious, Dawn. We'll be watching your friend very carefully. Just as I have told you, if he wishes to be accepted and trusted, he will need to work hard. And he hasn't started on the best foot forward.”
Dawn nodded, almost bowing, before quickly darting out of the room.
While she did not want to see Adaman and Irida, she did linger a moment to try and catch Cyllene.
It took Dawn a great deal of effort not to tackle the captain in a big hug. She hoped a warm smile would have the same effect. “Thank you, Captain Cyllene.”
Cyllene kept her stoic composure. “I have no idea what you're implying. You and I both know that Laventon requires all the help we can afford to give him. Speaking of, I believe you have duties to attend to. You need at least a Four Star Ranking before you can take on the Highlands.”
It appears as though Irida and Adaman shared Dawn’s plan, for they too had lingered down the stairs, waiting for her. She bristled at the two upon seeing them.
Some part of Dawn knew, deep down, that being the leader of a Clan of people must be hard. And some part of her knew that Barry - supposedly - did a lot of stupid things out in Hisui.
But the larger, louder part of her was mad at them. They wanted to punish her friend! How dare they! He didn’t know any better! He probably didn’t mean it! She knew he didn’t!
Both of them started talking - quietly, sheepishly - but Dawn didn’t stick around. She brushed past them without a word, making a point to not look at them with a huff. A little childish, maybe, but she wanted to get the point across.
Adaman and Irida didn’t go after her.
Instead, Irida turned to Cyllene. “Be honest, why did you suggest taking Barry in? It seems…extremely charitable, even for the Galaxy team…”
“Yeah, that kid may be Dawn’s friend, but you read what he’s done. He could still be a threat. Are you certain that’s a good idea?”
“I went to visit him. It was a surprise visit, and in hindsight, I should’ve given him warning.” Cyllene said slowly, making her way back to her office. “In the brief moments of consciousness the boy had, I studied him. And do you know what I saw?”
She stopped in front of the doors to her office. “I looked into his eyes, and all I saw was complete and utter terror.”
---
“Dawnie, give me the other mochi.”
“No, Barry, Miss Pesselle says you’re eating too fast. You need to eat slower, she says your tummy is all shriveled up like a dried leppa berry.”
He tried not to pout so much. But he had been eating berries for…who knows how long, and this potato mochi tasted like Heaven in comparison. “Tell me more about the Survey Corps.” said Barry, trying to change the subject.
“The Pokedex doesn’t exist yet.” she began explaining again. “People and Pokemon relationships are still a little rocky.”
“So…we’re just filling out the Pokedex. Didn’t Rowan ask you that too? Give me a mochi. Please?”
Dawn relented, placing a mochi onto his plate. As soon as it touched the plate, he scarfed it down as fast as he could.
She rolled her eyes. “It’s different than that. We’re not just catching pokemon, we’re studying them. Catching different specimens to get an accurate weight distribution, observing them in the wild, seeing that foods they like-”
“That sounds really boring.” he said through a mouthful.
“Well, it can be, sometimes. Some of the tasks Laventon wants us to do are…boring. But it can be dangerous! It can be really dangerous! Pokemon-”
“Will attack you?” Barry finished the sentence for her. “Yeah, yeah. I’ve experienced that first-hand. And there’s these really really big ones-”
“Those are Alpha Pokemon. Also very dangerous.” She set down her plate and raised up her sleeve to show a long, pink scar running up her arm.
“Whoa! How’d that happen?! Who did that?! I’ll fine them in to the next century!”
“Alpha Parasect got me as I was trying to run. But then-but then you see momma and poppa pokemon caring for their babies- or or a tiny baby spheal rolling up to you-”
“And why am I doing this?”
“Because.” She set another mochi on his plate, which was quickly and ravenously devoured. “In order to live in Jubilife village, you work. You need to earn your keep. Secondly, you have a rap sheet a mile long-”
“I plead the fifth.”
“That only works in Unova.”
“It was self defense!”
“I know! But they’re still mad. So you’re kind of working off your crimes, too.”
“I demand a lawyer.”
“Barry, please. Take this a little seriously.” she sniffled, wiping at her eyes to try and preemptively stop the tears. “I thought they were gonna kick you out. I thought they were gonna kill you. S-Stone you to death.”
His eyes went wide. “They stone people to death here??”
“Maybe…I dunno…I was really scared.”
Barry slid over on his bed to make room. “Come here, come here.” he said, patting the space beside him. Dawn put the plate of mochi on the bedside table and sat down next to him, pulling him into a squeezing hug.
“I’ll join the Survey Corps. I’ll do what they ask me to do, I’ll do it! No more worrying. Me and you, it’ll be like when we started our journey!” said Barry, squeezing back.
“Nothing bad’s gonna happen. I won’t let it.”
[And...Close Scene! That's it guys, that's a wrap for Donut Hole!...but I'm not done with Barry yet >:)]
[And now, a shameless plug for my besties fic: "When you reach the end of the line, you must be brave." By Pinkrhin0. "In which Emmet arrives somewhere new, makes a new friend, travels cross country, and, most importantly of all: Stays alive- No matter what." English love affair- Fermin Lopez
A/n: yes this is loosely based on the 5sos song I remembered it existed recently and haven't stopped listening to it
Fermin's POV
It's always fun getting to visit a new country especially to play football but I've never known somewhere to be as rainy as England or London specifically. It's done nothing but rain since we landed but still the boys insisted we go out and explore as we have some free time they quickly regretted it when our umbrellas all turned inside out in the wind so we all decided to just go and get some lunch and watch the busy London streets from somewhere dry. The place we ended up in because it was close was actually rather nice and it was quiet too with just a few other table none of which seemed to pay any mind to us which hopefully means they don't know who we are.
Once we were sat down one of the other groups caught my eye it was a group of girls who looked around my age. It wasn't just the girls that caught my eye it was one of them in particular I don't know what it was about her but I couldn't take my eyes off her she isn't my usual type but she is just so strikingly beautiful it's hard not to admire her. As soon as I noticed her I didn't stop staring which I know is creepy but the way she smiled and laughed with her friends was just so mesmerising. Out of all places to meet such a beautiful girl a tiny restaurant in the middle of London is not what I expected but I'm not going to complain.
"Hey are you still with us bro" gavi elbowed me
"Yeah yeah" I replied not looking at him
"What have we been talking about for the last 10 minutes then?" Pedri asked
"The game" I guessed
"You know it's creepy just to stare at that girl right" Joao said
"I'm not staring" I lied finally taking my eyes off her
"You so are" Pedri said
"Has fermin found love at first sight" Gavi teased
"Stop it guys she'll hear you" I whisper yelled at them
"Surely you want her to hear us there's no point just staring at her if you don't say something you'll never see her again" Joao said
His logic was sound I can't lie. There is no point admiring her from afar if I don't say anything I'll never see her again and if she rejects me well then I don't have to face her again which would hopefully make it easier to take. That makes it sound simple but it's not that straightforward I'm not the best at talking to girls I never know what to say like do I just introduce myself do I compliment them it's all so complicated and I never seen to get it right. Of course in this situation there is the added problem of the language barrier I speak English pretty well but I don't know if I know enough to have a conversation with her and sometimes accents complicate things. It's a lot to think about but there isn't really time to think about it as she could leave at any time and I need to have something to say.
For the rest of lunch all the boys kept trying to give me pointers on what to say some of which were serious but most were jokes. They also tried to find her Instagram for me but they were entirely unsuccessful which didn't surprise me as we don't even know her name but they tried nonetheless. While they talked among themselves I noticed that she was finally getting up to leave and as if it was meant to be her friends all left her so I had no reason not to take my chance. I was going to get up and talk to her but the boys pushed me out of my seat before I could get up and told me not to come back until I'd spoken to her. I approached her as she turned to leave her table and we locked eyes for the first time and I nearly froze but I didn't I kept walking towards her.
"Hi I'm Fermin sorry if this is too forward but I thought you were really pretty and wanted to introduce myself" I said
"Thank you Fermin I'm y/n" she said
"I know this seems a lot but I'm only here for a few days so would you want to go and get coffee or something as long as you're free" I said
"That sounds great I have the rest of today off as long as you are available" she said
"Great you might have to guide me on where to go if you couldn't tell I'm not from here" I joked
"I have the perfect place to go" she said
With that we left together and I texted the boys telling them I'll pay them back for my part of the bill later. As we walked wherever she wanted to go we got to know each other a bit more she told me that she was in fact my age and that she's still in university studying psychology but she's on a break which is why she's out with friends during the day. I told her a bit more about myself but I didn't tell her exactly why I was here because I want to get to know her more before I tell her that I play football because that can really change how girls act around me. I'd love to believe that she wouldn't be like that but you never know there's girls I've met before that I thought wouldn't be so obsessed with my career but they were although I do think y/n is different.
She took us down a few backstreets before we reached this cafe which only had two other people in it which was perfect. As soon as we entered the lady running the place came over to ask y/n how her studying had been going and she offered us our drinks on the house but y/n insisted on paying. If I didn't already like her that interaction only confirmed my thought that she was just truly a lovely person and that's something I find really attractive in a girl. We sat in a quiet corner of the cafe and sipped our drinks but mostly we just didn't stop talking. I've never had such a connection with someone before, it sounds like such a cliche but we really got on like a house on fire instantly. She's really just perfect I've never found someone I love everything about from the moment I met them but that's how I feel with y/n, every good quality you would want she has she's kind, patient and not to mention absolutely beautiful.
After finishing our drinks and getting to know each other we both had to leave I'm supposed to  eat with the team for dinner and she had to do some studying but luckily her place is on the way to my hotel so we got to walk together. However the walk wasn't very long and before I knew it we had to say goodbye. I didn't want this to be the last time we see each other so I just kind of blurred out that I'm here to play football and invited her to the game. Naturally she had a few questions but I answered them and she agreed to come to the game tomorrow which is how I got her number so I could text her all the details she would need.

Your POV
With my week off from uni I expected to see some friends and just unwind a bit but instead I ended up going out with a guy and not just any guy a Barcelona player who is playing a match in the champions league today and invited me to go. To say I'm nervous would be an understatement, I've never been to a football match before let alone been invited by a player so I have no idea what to expect. All I do know is that I'm really excited to see Fermin again he's such a nice guy and incredibly attractive plus we connected really well so it would've been a shame if we only saw each other once before he had to go back to Barcelona.
Last night I did so much googling to learn as much about football and Fermin's team as possible I don't know how much I retained but I tried my best. Something I definitely did remember was that this was an important match for the team so they will really want to win and I really hope they do because I'd love to see Fermin happy. I also realised that football was a lot more popular than I thought as Barcelona had over 120 million followers on Instagram and Fermin had over 2 million. Knowing how popular Fermin and the team were did make me anxious because I have less than 50 followers and a private account which I'm fine with because I don't like the attention but I think Fermin is worth the possible complete change in my life.
Time went by so quickly today before I knew it I was supposed to be getting ready to leave which meant deciding what to wear. The obvious choice would be a Barcelona shirt but I don't own one so I can't do that instead I just put on some blue jeans and a red top so I was close enough to wearing the Barcelona colours. I did some simple makeup and did my hair but that was all I had time for as I had to get to the stadium and find my seat before the start of the match.
Getting to the stadium actually wasn't too bad but I got so lost trying to find my seat as Fermin didn't get me just any ticket he got me a vip ticket which meant I had a really good seat but it was hard to find the right entrance. Once I found my seat I was offered drinks and all sorts of other things but I just wanted to sit there as I was feeling really nervous all of a sudden. Everyone else in the vip section was very clearly either important people or wives/girlfriends of the players which made me feel a little out of place. Everyone had designer clothes on their hair done all nicely and perfect makeup and there I was in clothes I've owned for years with barely anything done to my appearance. Most of them were also speaking Spanish which I have a basic understanding of but I couldn't make out a word they were saying so I just kept to myself.
The match was very intense which I think was made worse for me because I didn't really know what was going on but it ended up in a Barcelona win which really made me happy. All of the players celebrated in front of the fans before finally leaving the pitch which was my cue to find my way down to the locker room as Fermin told me to meet him down there after the game. I saw some of the other girls from my section of seats heading a certain way so I just followed them and luckily they were going the right way and I found where I needed to be. I text Fermin to tell him I was there whenever he was ready but seconds after I sent the text he was coming out the door with the biggest smile on his face which made me smile even more. He ran straight over to me and gave me a hug clearly still high on adrenaline but it loved it. As he pulled away he gave me a kiss on the cheek which made me blush so hard I probably looked like a clown.
"Congrats you guys were so good out there" I said
"Thank you did you enjoy the game?" He asked
"Yeah it was a bit confusing but the atmosphere was amazing" I answered honestly
"That just means I'll have to see you again and explain the rules" he smirked
"I might need more than one lesson the offside rule seems a bit confusing" I joked
"I wish I could spend more time with you but we leave tomorrow morning" he said
"But if it's ok with you I'd love to walk you home so we can spend more time together" he added
"I'd really like that" I said
He had to go back to the team for a bit but he gave me a water bottle and an apple incase I was hungry which made me laugh but I appreciated him caring so much about me. He wasn't gone that long but when he came back a few of his teammates followed him so he introduced me to them quickly as they wanted to meet me. They were all so sweet that it actually made me even more sad that they were all leaving and this little fling or whatever it is I have with Fermin will be over. We are lucky to have a bit more time together even if it is just the walk back to my place I will take all the time I can get.
Fermin took my hand and we walked back to my place together very slowly so we could have more time together. As we walked it became darker and colder outside until it started to rain which is very typically England it always rains at the worst times. I did bring an umbrella but that lasted less than a minute in the wind so we were getting soaked but I didn't care at all I'd stand out here forever if I was with Fermin. He seemed to feel the same as neither of us walked any quicker we just accepted the fact that we were going to get wet and it was worth it. Eventually we made to right outside my apartment building and it was time for us to say our final goodbyes and I can't lie I felt tears in my eyes. It feels somewhat stupid to be so attached to someone I just met but we just had an instant connection and I don't want to let it go just yet.
"I can't believe how much I don't want to leave you right now" Fermin said
"I really don't want you to leave either" I said
"I know we are both busy but promise me that we will try and keep in contact and if it doesn't work then it doesn't work but I can't let you go like this" Fermin said
"I promise I'm not going to give up on this" I said
"Can I kiss you?" he asked
All I did was nod which was enough for Fermin as he leant in and pressed his lips to mine. We were both freezing from the rain but I felt so much warmer when his lips met mine which told me that our connection as new as it is is very real. I've never felt like this when kissing anyone before let alone a first kiss which I think is the universes way of telling me that I've met someone special and to not give up on this without a fight. We kissed for a bit longer before we both pulled away and just stared at each other with our foreheads connected until we couldn't just stand there anymore. Fermin gave me one last kiss and promised he'd text me tomorrow before leaving to head back to his hotel leaving me to go inside and come to terms with all of the millions of feelings I had running through me.

2 years later
Just last week I submitted my dissertation and finished my degree it has been a hard few years but I'm proud of myself for doing it. The big changes in my life don't end there though as not only have I put a big part of my life behind me but I'm moving to a completely new country. Fermin and I have been together for nearly 2 years now and today is the day I finally move in with him in his place in Barcelona. The road to get here has been long but it all feels worth it Nke that I'm going to get to see him in person everyday not over the phone.
Our relationship hasn't been normal in any way in fact our first date was over FaceTime and we started dating before we even had our first kiss as he asked me to be his girlfriend over FaceTime too. There has been lots of ups and downs and there has been times we have nearly broken up as we were so stressed with other things which affected our relationship but we made it. It feels like the hard part of our relationship is over and from now on I feel like it will be plain sailing. We have always had a special connection from the second we met but that really comes alive when we get to be together in person so getting to live together and be there for each other everyday is going to be so amazing.
As much as I love Fermin with my whole heart deciding to move to Barcelona wasn't an easy decision. My whole life has always been in England like my friends and my family and I wasn't sure if I was ready to let go of all that and completely start my new life. Fermin was so supportive as well as I made my decision he told me if I needed to move back home for a bit longer to find myself outside of education then he would support that. Ultimately I decided that it was time for me to take the leap and discover who I am with him as I want him to always be part of my life so we decided we'd move in together which it some might seem risky but we know each other so well that neither of us thought it would be a problem.
Preparing to move has been quite stressful as I've been shipping my things to Fermin so that I only have to bring some things with me on the plane but now I'm ready to go all I feel is excitement. Sitting on the plane sending my last text to Fermin before I land and we get to be together forever felt amazing but strange at the same time the long distance chapter of our relationship is finally coming to an end. The entirety of the flight all I thought about was all the things we can finally do now that we get to spend more time together like we can go on weekend trips if he has time off or spontaneous midweek dates and even just the things regular couples do together.
Coming through the doors into the arrivals area Fermin was waiting there for me, he spotted me in seconds and we just ran towards each other. His arms wrapped around my waist as he engulfed me in the tightest hug I've ever experienced he held me so tight that he lifted my feet off the floor which he took to his advantage and spun me round. Once he finally put me down his lips were attached to mine almost instantly and we shared what I think was the best kiss we've ever had.
"I'm so glad you're finally here and our lives together can finally begin" he said
"I can't wait to see what the future holds" I said

Hey friend, I want to ask you some things about Constantine, I'm planning on making a FanFic about his way from Kid to Prince (Before he re encounters with Charlie).
1. How was his training? Was he trained by Lucifer? Or by Satan?, or by every single Deadly Sin?
2. Why did he lose his Humanity so much? Are there any specific or lots of events that relate to that?
3. When and which enemies he destroyed? If you don’t have it specified don’t worry, this is because after all nobody who fought him lived to tell it.
4. (This one is optional), Would you like to have something important on it? Something you would enjoy? Be honest, after all Constantine is your character.
First of all, I am very glad to hear that you want to write a fafic about him! And of course I will be happy to answer your questions!
1.
In terms of knowledge, he was usually educated by the leading sages of Hell (he had a different teacher for each subject, so he had a well-rounded education) and Lucifer taught him what he knew as much as he could (how to use his powers, how to be a king), while Lilith taught him how to behave in politics, ) Satan was the one who taught Constantine's perception of power in general, Constantine was a person who thought that power came only from knowledge, Satan taught him that power was only power, showed him that he could not survive with only knowledge and taught him that fear was stronger than love and respect. He also learnt from Leviathan about education and science. He was not very close to the other sins in terms of education. When Constantine went to visit his aunt, it was one of the rare times when he was a child and not a prince, Bee tried to make Constantine happy, not to educate him.
2.
In general, the way he was raised and the training he received did this to him. Lilith and Lucifer had no evil intentions, they wanted their sons to be safe and strong, but they realised a little late that they were destroying the humanity in Constantine with their actions, and when they realised, they were at a point where they could no longer go back, but on the bright side, they did not follow the same thing with Charlie. Plus Constantine was already born with a superior intelligence, which made him less empathetic as he grew up, which came with the responsibilities of being a prince, so he had to grow up early because he had too much on him as a child. And even a normal prince would have to harden himself and control his emotions and act rationalistically in order to rule. Constantine was the prince of hell, surrounded by monsters and nobles waiting to see a weakness in him, and if he wanted to defeat the monsters, he had to become one of them. And Constantine did this, he hardened herself until his weakness or emotions were minimised. The only person that constantine behaves with his sincere personality is his sister Charlie, I can even say that the face that constantine shows to Charlie is so different that Charlie almost does not recognise her brother at the royal meetings. (In the very later parts of the series, they start to develop a relationship with Serenity like Sherlock and Watson. but this is a very slow developing friendship)
and btw I was inspired to write Constantine by these two books maybe it helps to understand him!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.Sometimes some demons decide to cross the line and Constantine can execute them. There is no one specific one at the moment, only Lucifer or Charlie can defeat Constantine, no one else in Hell is crazy enough to try to fight him. At least not yet.
4.Thank you for asking but no I've got nothing to add at the moment., and Constantine is my character, yes. but this is your fanfic, you can do whatever you want as long as you keep his personality, have fun! And when you're done writing and publish it on ao3 please tag me on tw and I look forward to reading it!
