Katakuri x Reader
Tumblr media
"Who knew the Charlottles had pretty women on their crew," One of your buyers laughed.
"Maybe you were just paying attention to their men," you smirked, looking at the person despite the blindfold covering your eyes.
"Why you-"
"Enough Tamaki." Sounds like their boss took control of the room, hard to ignore since he had a booming voice. "You need to get back to cleaning the deck."
"Awww, but I thought we bought her for a little fun."
"We are to deliver her to Doflamingo, if his plan succeeds, the government will reward him handsomely, in turn, we'll be rewarded by him for contributing."
"Doflamingo?" You knew of the Heavenly Demon Warlord, his unmerciful wrath toward anyone outside Dressrosa. He'd be a threat if he didn't keep to himself in his lavish country. "That birdbrain, he's all squawk and no dive," you said in a bored tone.
"Why is she still talking?"
"She kept eating the tape boss."
You heard the boss sigh before footsteps were followed out of the room. Silence is the only thing that stays with you in the room, allowing your mind to settle in the horror of what their boss said.
They were taking you to Doflamingo for a plan. A plan where if he succeeds the government is going to reward him, but he's already a Warlord with his own island, what would he do to get more out of... Is he... Is he planning to take out the entire Big Mom Pirates?
You wiggle your way around, trying lift the blindfold from your eyes when something impacted the ship and sent you crashing against the bars. The bars felt warm and gooey, strange, and now your head felt light before it hits against the hard floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"[Y/n]!" Katakuri called for you after entering the cell hall.
He rushed past the cells, briefly scanning each one for you, and he almost skipped over the one you were in. Haulting in his tracks, he looked into the cell and saw you laying sideways on the ground, your back to him. Relief washed over him and he grabbed onto the bars to move it out of his way when he noticed the bars were a little sticky.
He glanced at the bars, seeing blood on one. His eyes trailed over to you, a small patch of damp hair on the back of head. Fear threw Katakuri's relief out the window, he yanked the cell wall out of its place and tossed it to the side. Kneeling down, he slid you into his arms bridal style and rushed back to the crew he came with.
"Please, stay with me, [Y/n]."
Deflect
Warnings: restraint, captivity, torture, bruises, blood, defiant whumpee
Whumper sat back in their chair, watching Accomplice punch Whumpee in the ribs over and over again. Whumpee carefully maintained their footing in the standing cuffs despite being hit over and over again.
"Just tell us what we want to know and this can stop," Whumper drawled as they watched Accomplice pause.
Whumpee stared directly at Whumper, their eyes blazing underneath the dark bruising of a black eye. "Why would I tell you what you want? You haven't asked me nicely."
Whumper frowned. "Hit them harder. And somewhere more painful."
Accomplice smiled as they cocked their arm back and punched Whumpee in the face, splitting Whumpee's lip.
Whumpee spat out a mouthful of blood at Accomplice. "Ok, ok, ok. I'll tell you."
Whumper smiled. All it took was a hit to the face? They could have saved so much time. "Go on."
Whumpee swallowed. "Listen closely," they said softly.
"We are," Accomplice stared down at Whumpee.
"Not for very much longer," Whumpee promised.
"Get on with it."
"I've got to keep control." Whumper could have sworn Whumpee's lips pulled into a smirk.
"You need to let go of your need to control, Whumpee, and just tell us." Accomplice's patience was wearing thin.
"I remember doing the Time Warp!" Whumpee smirked at Whumper as they spoke.
"Hit them until they give us what we want, Accomplice," Whumper let the anger they were feeling fill their voice.
"With pleasure," Accomplice said as they began to punch Whumpee again.
"It's just a jump to the left," Whumpee gasped as Accomplice struck their ribs once more.
Call for Backup. Spill.
"C’mon, out with it.” Angela passes Tim a glass of water and settles into the corner of the couch. “You’ve got 20 minutes until Jack is up from his nap. Why’d you darken my door?”
“What, I can’t want to see my godchildren?”
“Don’t do that.” She waves a finger at him. “Don’t put my kids in the middle of whatever personal deal you’ve got going on.”
Tim raises his eyebrows, and Angela sighs. “You know as soon as Jack is awake and knows you're here, he’s going to be all over you.”
“I’m looking forward to it.”
“Yeah, yeah, stop trying to flatter me. I know you better than this, Timothy. My beautiful children are a bonus to whatever actually made you show up here at 11:30 in the morning on your first day off in a week.”
“You know I tend to deflect when I’m feeling threatened.” Tim laughs when Angela makes a face at him, like she wants him to know that she knows exactly how ridiculous he sounds.
“So call for backup. Spill.”
“Fine.” Tim sighs. “It’s Lucy.”
You'll Save Me (Even if I don't know I need it) - Whumptober2023
I tend to deflect when I'm feeling threatened
One random day, Spock and McCoy are beamed off the ship without warning. A few weeks later, Jim finds them but they're in very different states.
For day 18 of @whumptober . Also on AO3.
Words: 1423
The corridors were quiet, serene and sterile. Not white, like most horror movies made it seem. But a pale yellow colour with blue benches outside each door. No one had noticed them yet, because there was no one to notice. Well, they hadn’t tried to break out their friends yet.
"Which rooms are we looking for again?" Jim asked the landing parry.
"Rooms 14, and 37, Captain." Said Chekov.
Why were they so split up? They'd been taken together so why separate them? Unless they were sorting by different criteria. He was really starting to miss Spock’s analysis.
“So any one of these then?” He asked, noticing the numbers around them.
“Actually, yes, Captain.”
They took a second to look around and spotted Room 14. There was a passcode on the door, of course there was, Spock would’ve walked out if there wasn’t one. He shrugged, not caring if an alarm was raised, and hit the panel with three blasts of his phaser. The door opened with a click.
Kicking the door open, he saw Spock in a serene state. He wasn’t shocked. It was Spock. But he knew that despite how calm he seemed on the exterior, there was usually a storm on the inside.
He was sat with his eyes closed, deep in meditation with his legs crossed as he sat in the middle of a white room. The bed was white, flat and basic, apart from a basic box room in the corner that he assumed a was a bathroom. As they moved into the room, he snapped his eyes opened.
“Captain.” He said.
No ‘is that you’? No questions. Because of course he wouldn’t. He was Spock. He’d be analysing every second of this, noticing the difference in the room, the air and the way they moved. He knew it was them.
“Mister Spock, mind if we break you out?”
“Interesting question, Captain, because your behaviour is suggesting that you weren’t giving me an option-” He said, getting up and walking toward him.
Jim just smiled. Spock stopped mid speech and cocked his head.
“Was that a joke?”
“Yes.”
“Oh, it was not very funny.”
Jim couldn’t be angry at all. He’d missed this, their back and forth, his days had been to quiet since he’d been beamed off last week. Bones too, they’d been taken together, randomly, with no warning. Talking of Bones.
“You wouldn’t happen to have seen Bones, would you?”
“No, Captain, why?”
He didn’t know?
“He went missing too, beamed off the same time as you,” he walked out of the room, Spock followed. “We’ve located his pattern as being here, alongside yours.”
“Fascinating.”
They began to walk, following Chekov as he led them presumably toward Room 37. Spock was still in his uniform, his familiar haircut grown out a millimetre more and was dishevled in a way he’d never seen before. It was a little bit unsettling.
“Do you know what all of this is about?” He said. “I assume that you have some idea with all the time you’ve had to think.”
“Indeed. I hypothesise that this is an experiment of some sort, with how controlled things were, every day was the same, there was as little input in those rooms as possible so as to not interfere with whatever they were testing for. That, I haven’t figured out yet, I have not seen the other subjects, so I cannot make an assumption on that fact.”
“Yes, we haven’t seen much else either. Does the fact that Dr McCoy was taken change anything?”
He took a second to think. They continued to walk through the corridors that were all starting to look the same when an alarm sounded. He was beginning to wonder when that was going to start. You don’t break into a place and not get chased.
Starting into a jog, he said to Spock, “How about we continue this conversation later?”
“That would be wise Captain, I think we’re being chased.”
He looked over his shoulder and saw three armed guards all with phasers of their own running down the corridor. The yellow stained walls were turning orange from the flashing red lights. A bleeping alarm was making it hard to hear anything but he managed to speak anyway.
“Mr Chekov, how far away are we?”
“It should be any one of these rooms, Captain!”
With the lights flashing, and the guards getting closer in his peripheral vision, it was hard to find the room yet he found it. He threw a phaser to Spock and opened the door the same way he’d opened the other, by blasting it to pieces. But this time, he didn’t see someone serene, calm and managing in the only way they’d been taught. His stomach dropped.
The room was equally as well lit. When they walked in, the sounds from outside, the alarm, the guards, was swallowed up until they sounded distant and foggy. Bones was sat at the back wall. His hands in his hair and red rimmed eyes as he stared blankly at them.
“Bones?” He said, more softly this time. “It’s us.”
“The toe bones’ connected to the foot bone, the foot bones’ connected to the ankle bone, the ankle bones’ connected to the leg bone,” he sang under his breath, not listening to him at all it seemed.
He stepped closer, ignoring the part of him scared of the guards approaching, who wanted to grab Bones over his shoulder and run out. But he knew better. His doctor was delicate, sensitive.
“Bones, it’s me, Jim,” he said again, crouching down so he was in his line of vision.
“The leg bone's connected to the knee bone, the knee bone's connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone's connected to the hip bone,”
His eyes shifted from the wall behind him to Jim himself. He still didn’t stop his song.
“The hip bone's connected to the back bone, the back bone's connected to the neck bone, the neck bone's connected to the head bone,”
“Bones, Leonard, McCoy, please, look at me, it’s me, Jim,”
He pulled a risky move and reached out to him. He didn’t move his hand away when he did. In fact, the risk payed off, he seemed to wake up. Had they done something to him? Part of their experiment?
“Stop,” he said, his voice low and gravelly. “I know you’re not real and interacting doesn’t help anything, now if you don’t mind, I’m gonna carry on singing my song.”
Jim huffed and held his hand closer, pulling him toward him. In a fit of impulse, he used is weight to pull him off the floor. Bones didn’t look too happy.
“Now stop it. I don’t know if they’re giving me somethin’ or my mind’s just a bit more fragile than I thought it was, but I am not letting something in my head affect me so.”
Spock stepped forward. “Doctor, in your professional opinion, can one speak to their hallucinations in this way?”
“Well, that’s a complicated question-”
“Can one speak to their hallucinations like this?”
“I guess not-”
“So, we’re real then?”
Bones deflated but smiled. Fatigue was written all over his face. There was something unhinged in his eyes. He hadn’t been meditating, that was for sure.
“I guess, but-”
“But what?” Jim tried to pull him toward the door. The guards were approaching and he wanted to get out of here before they were all put in these cells.
“I’ve dreamt of this Jim, I’ve seen it, this place it, it makes things all wonky, how do I know this is real?”
Jim stepped forward and placed his hand on his cheek. He smiled as Bones lent into it subconsciously.
“That’s how.”
Bones sighed and nodded. “Let’s get going.”
He took his hand as he pulled him along. The guards were right outside the door. Chekov and a few security officers were firing their phasers with precision that only came with practice. He appreciated how it didn’t take long for them to clear the way.
Bones clung to him, his hand gripping his arm like a lifeline. The alarm was still blaring as Jim pulled out his communicator.
“Scotty, can you beam us up?”
“Sure, Captain, have you got them?”
“Yeah, six to beam up.”
Jim felt himself being pulled. The sound of the transporter playing over the general chaos of the hallway.
“Can you keep it down? I’ve only had silence for however long I was in there,”
There was his Bones.
----
This was going to be an AOS fic but I decided to change it to TOS. I think it's how I wrote Spock's speech, it just gave Leonard Nimoy vibes. Also I didn't intend for mckirk to be in there but there isn't enough tos mckirk from what i've seen. I also interpreted this as the people were just holding an experiment, whereas for the people they're experimenting on think it's torture. Thanks for reading! @whumptober-archive
No. 18 "I tend to deflect when I'm feeling threatened."
@whumptober-archive
Blindfold | Tortured For Information | "Hit them harder."
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Unfortunately for Harrison, the help was not what he'd wanted. He'd been left to recover from the waterboarding, a reprieve he so desperately needed. It didn't last forever, though, woken with a rough shove while the sky was still dark. He made no attempt to move, too utterly exhausted to do more than lift his head. They'd seemed to anticipate it, a blindfold roughly shoved over his eyes as the men hauled him to his feet. His hands were bound in front of him, though it felt more for show than anything else; both parties were aware he could do close to nothing. They were surprisingly gentle as they dragged him up and out of his cell, which only made him worry. If they were being 'nice' to him, he must look like shit.
Harrison hated not knowing what was happening, unable to see his surroundings and completely at the mercy of his captors. He didn't have his leg, either, which only made things a million times worse - of course, with the state of his stump, he doubted he'd even be able to wear it, but that wasn’t the point.
As the cold air hit his face, he flinched, instinctively pulling away. He'd not expected the outside, and his heart sank. If they were moving him, it meant that Fred had been close to finding them, that he was being moved just to prolong his suffering.
A small part of him wondered if they were just going to execute him, take him somewhere and shoot him, dump him, maybe in a river. But, then again, he'd overheard them on the video stream say they were having far too much fun just torturing him for the information he wasn't giving up. He knew they were getting close to his mental breaking point, though; his body was already almost there.
He was brought back to the present by a shove in his back and the bite of cold metal against his skin. He'd barely got his hands in front of him before he'd hit the deck, the soft hum of an engine just confirming he was getting moved. He groaned as he was shoved again, rolling onto his side. He could almost get the blindfold off, or at least up slightly, able to see more of his surroundings
Surprisingly, once the doors were shut, the guard with him spoke up.
"You can take it off for now. I'll tell you when you need it back on."
Soft hands untied his, waiting for him to take it off. Harrison moved slowly knocking the blindfold off and onto his floor. It took his eyes a moment to adjust, frowning at the kindness. It only confused him more as the guard chucked a blanket at him.
"Wrap up. It gets cold back here."
Harrison pushed himself into the corner, pulling the blanket around him. His chest already felt rotten, the change in position setting him coughing. He was grateful for the blanket, the cold already getting into his bones.
Despite everything, he must have drifted off, the sudden cease of the engine noise startling him awake. His captor didn't seem bothered, didn't seem in any rush to get him tied back up, so he slowly relaxed against the wall. He hated himself for not fighting back like he usually would, but he had nothing left. He was just conserving energy, he told himself, that was all. Not giving in, not yet.
The soft hum of the engine started up again, and before he'd realised, he'd fallen asleep, the rocking of the vehicle pulling him under. It was cold, the guard had been right about that. It had settled in his bones by the time the guard shook him awake, groaning in pain. He was confused and disoriented, arms pulled in front of him and bound once more. There was a whisper of an apology as the blindfold was replaced, dropping him back into darkness despite the dawn. They continued to drive for a while longer, just to make sure he was disoriented and had no chance of knowing where he was.
As before, the guards hauled him out of the van, one under each arm. A gun cocked from somewhere beside him, but he didn't flinch. It almost gave him a bit of hope that it was coming to an end, but he wasn’t that lucky.
He got shoved into another cell, smaller than the previous one, and colder too. With his blindfold removed, it took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the room, but it was easy enough to notice the dried blood on the walls and floor. There was no cot, either, and the bindings on his wrists were quickly swapped from rope to metal cuffs. The blanket he'd been allowed was long gone, left to shiver alone in his cell, their laughter echoing in the hall.
Arms tied above his head, he somehow dozed off again. A sharp kick to his ribs woke him up, completely winding him and only making the nausea worse. Laughter erupted around the room, and he hung his head in defeat. They were obviously there to have their fun.
He was pulled to his feet and dropped onto what once might have been a wheelchair. Metal grated against metal and the chair was dragged out of the cell, down corridor after corridor. He hung his head, just waiting for the pain to start.
The two older men didn't wear masks, but the clearly younger - and greener - ones did. He sighed, wincing as it pulled at broken ribs. They were obviously using him for teaching, which meant nothing was off limits.
The brakes were put on - not that it made much difference; the wheels barely worked anyway - and his arms tied to either arm rest. His head spun, ears ringing as dizziness threatened to overwhelm him. The older men were talking to the others, clearly showing them what to do. The one that had instigated the water sauntered over to him, a quick punch to his chest to get him to curl over, followed by an even harder uppercut that sent him reeling.
He took a moment; if he hadn't been almost about to pass out, he certainly was now. He spat blood from his mouth, his head hanging low. The man in front of him was talking, but he couldn’t get the words to work. A rough hand grabbed his chin, forcing him to look at him. He couldn't focus, couldn't work out what was being said, and his frown deepened.
His captor seemed to finally realise, and he laughed, dropping his hand from his chin. He turned to the group, offering them the floor.
"See what you can get out of him. He's pre-broken for you." He laughed. "He's normally a snarky piece of shit, but he's not very fond of water. You've got to find what your bargaining chip doesn't like, use it, abuse it. At the end of the day, you need the information, you need to get it, whatever the means."
"We're not going to use water today, but have at him, anything you want. Just don't kill him. You can't get information - or money - when they're dead."
The first masked one walked up to him, trailing a knife across Harrison's cheek. "Are you gonna be helpful? Or do we need to loosen your tongue?"
Harrison pulled away, turning his face. "As I've told your idiots, I've got nothing to tell them."
"That's a shame. It's sad to ruin such a pretty face."
"Like they've not already had a go. They've broken my nose enough they might as well go into plastic surgery."
While the elder had been careful to position himself to the right of Harrison, the younger man didn't seem to realise. With a grunt, Harrison kicked out his leg, catching him in the kneecap and sending him stumbling backwards.
"What an idiot." Their leader snapped, dragging them to their feet. "Are you fucking stupid?!"
"He kicked me!"
"Do you want a gold star? Of course he did. You didn't make sure he was secured, did you?" He shook his head. "Next!"
They cycled through, Harrison doing his best to not break. It was getting harder and harder, blood dripped from his nose and cheek, and there'd been several knife wounds by the time the first lot had finished.
The first man stepped up again, no knife, just his fists. He swung for Harrison, his fist connecting with ribs, but no response from him.
"Again, hit him harder!" He did as he was told, but Harrison barely made a gasp, too exhausted to recognise the pain. "Again! Harder! Like you mean it!"
As they swung for the fifth time, they slipped a thin blade between their fingers, desperate for a response. Metal connected with skin, glancing off the bone and into the delicate lungs. Harrison groaned in pain, paling as he realised what they'd done. He didn't have the energy to raise his head, it was already becoming harder to catch his breath. He hung his head, spots dancing in his vision.
The captors seemed to approve of that, laughing as they dragged him back to his cell. They tipped him to the floor, letting him collapse in a heap. They tried again to get the information they wanted, but to no avail. After a quick glance left and right, they grinned, standing up. Their boot connected with his head, jerking him backwards. They were far from bothered, laughing as he crumpled, unconscious on the ground.
Whumptober Day 18
Whumptober has passed, but I'm still going! Hope you guys all enjoy this one!
Teen & Up - Gen - Stranger Things
I Deflect or I Break
     A punch to his jaw sent red-tinted spittle flying, and another to his gut had Steve groaning, struggling to inhale as bruised ribs ached. He closed his eyes as the man beating him up pulled away, trying to catch his breath as the Russian commander stepped forward.
     “Who do you work for?” The man, who Steve had learned at this point was named Ozerov, asked for the umpteenth time.
     Despite himself and his injuries, Steve laughed. “You really don’t get it, do you? The answer’s not gonna change.” He spat out a glob of spit, unconcerned when a bloodied tooth clinked onto the floor. That one had been loose for a while now. “I work for Scoops Ahoy.”
     Ozerov frowned, barking something in Russian to the soldier behind him. The man stepped up, and Steve raised his head to face him head-on, well past the point of begging for it to stop. Hit after hit, punch after punch, rained down on him, sending his head spinning and his ears ringing. A snap filled the room, and Steve screamed as his nose broke under a steely fist. White hot pain spiked over his face as blood welled up in his nose, pouring down his throat as he coughed and gagged. Panic rose as Steve hunched over, blood pouring from his nose as he spat the rest out, desperate not to breathe it in. Drowning in his own blood was not how Steve wanted to go out.
     Ozerov was suddenly in his face, his hand fisted in Steve’s hair as he held his head up. “Who do you work for? What do they know of our operation?”
     “Sco-Scoops Ahoy.” Steve rasped out after he swallowed down a wave of blood. “They don’t… know anything.” He said, gasping for air and flinching when his lungs expanded too far and put uncomfortable pressure on his ribs.
     This time, the Russian commander laughed, tightening his grip on Steve’s coif. “I’m beginning to think you like this, boy.”
     Steve scoffed at the idea but let a grin overtake his weary face, forcing bravado into his voice. “I think that’s you, not me, Ozerov. Tell me, have you ever been married? Cause I really doubt that lasted long, am I right?” That earned him a sharp smack across the face, but Steve smirked. Bingo, that was definitely a sore spot.
     “You better give me the answers I want, Жoпа. Or things will get much more difficult for you.” Ozerov told him, his accent thick as he nearly growled the words.
     A laugh bubbled out of Steve’s chest as he looked up at the commander. “Sorry, that’s not gonna work.” He informed him, closing one eye as blood trickled down from a reopened cut on his eyebrow. “I tend to deflect when I’m feeling threatened.”
     The man swore sharply in his foreign tongue, and Steve smiled as the man’s soldier stepped forward once more. He wouldn’t break today. He’d make it through one more time.
Whumptober 2023 - "Muddled Senses"
(Post-Rebels, Pre-Ahsoka, probably canon compliant unless Disney decides to give Zahn another book. Please don't.
Prompt used:
No. 18 "I tend to deflect when I'm feeling threatened": Blindfold/Tortured For Information/"Hit them harder."
General warning for blood and a depiction of torture, you know the drill.)
---
Ezra's head was swimming, full of cotton. His chin dipped and he caught himself, pulling his head back up as much as he could.
A slight swish through the air signaled to him the incoming blow and he clenched up to brace.
BAM!
An armored fist slammed into his side, bruising already-damaged ribs. Sharp pain knifed straight through him and Ezra grunted harshly, feeling the blood in his mouth sloshing.
When he opened his mouth to pant, it dribbled out, running down his chin. Ezra blinked hard behind the thick length of cloth tied over his eyes, trying to get his bearings, shake the pain off.
"How does the device activate, Bridger?" came the interrogator's voice again, flat and unamused.
Ezra's chest heaved slowly and he drooped again, exhausted. He tried to pin down where the officer was, but the drugs running through his system made his Force Sense... fuzzy. Watery, slippery impressions brushed past his head.
He didn't answer the question.
With silent suddenness, another blow cracked across his face, striking him right next to the left eye. Ezra cried out weakly as his head was snapped aside, fresh pain blossoming to join the pounding headache he was already struggling with.
"Nghl..." he groaned, slumping back against the flat metal slab of the interrogation table.
Had that been the first or the second Stormtrooper that had hit him this time? Or had cranky number three finally decided to get in on the action?
The knot of the blindfold pulled at his hair as Ezra tried to raise his head. It was day two of this. Power on the Chimaera was still temperamental and had been rationed away from the prison decks for weeks, leaving the electrical probes to either side of the table dry and silent. The interrogation officer in charge had chosen to employ brute force instead, inviting any crewmember with a bone to pick in to come beat Ezra to a pulp. (There wasn't a shortage, unfortunately.) The sensory deprivation was a deliberate part of it, he thought. Meant to put him on edge of when and how the next hit was going to come. Not usually a problem for someone Force Sensitive, capable of looking without his eyes.
So of course they had first experimented with different combinations of sedatives and truth serums to find just the right concoction of drugs—enough to take the edge off his abilities, muddy them, without making him completely incoherent.
Ezra swallowed and felt a copper tang burn down his throat.
It was proving horribly effective.
"How does it turn on?" the interrogator pressed again.
Delirious with exhaustion, Ezra heard himself muttering out, "I don't... I don't know..."
It was a half-truth. The archaic device, a relic of a race called the Zeffo, apparently, was similar enough to a holocron that Ezra could guess its purpose. There must have been some expression, some hint on his face that he'd given away, that had told Thrawn that he knew more than he was letting on about what the device was and what it was for.
Thrawn had eyed him with intense suspicion and ordered him down here mere hours after the discovery.
Something struck his shins. Pain lanced up through his legs. Ezra grimaced, but pressed his mouth closed, hanging loose in the restraints that held him against the torture slab.
Just give up... he begged. Just end this... I'm not gonna tell you anything...
"Stubborn little brat, ain't he?" came a comment from somewhere to the right. That was cranky trooper number three; Ezra had managed to glimpse him before the blindfold was yanked over his eyes for the day.
Ezra wanted to make a smartass quip but he didn't trust his jaw not to twinge if he moved it.
Through his muddled hearing Ezra picked up a bevy of new sounds: a hiss, tapping, shuffling armor.
"Has there been any progress?" asked a sonorous, placid voice that Ezra immediately identified as Thrawn's.
His stomach fell, fear settling into his gut. His mouth seemed suddenly very dry, despite his bleeding gums. He strained for impressions off the Grand Admiral, even through the thick haze that clouded his senses.
He'd always been a little tense around Thrawn, despite the man's reassurances he wouldn't be harmed as long as he cooperated, but it was still distressing how quickly their uneasy alliance had fallen apart the moment Thrawn had perceived him to be an obstacle rather than an asset.
He could feel the red eyes on him, studying him intently, and squirmed a little, uncomfortably.
"The boy has not revealed anything yet," the Imperial interrogator reported, clinically.
"Won't even scream today," grumbled one of the troopers.
Ezra strained his senses, brows pinching behind the blindfold, for any kind of vague sense of Thrawn's reaction.
His attempts slid off walls and undefined shapes, murky in his mind. Something felt like it was bearing down on him, some kind of heavy malice, but he couldn't define it, couldn't put words to it.
He wanted to whine in frustration.
Drowsy, he almost slipped deeper into incoherent haze, his mind still scratching out for comprehension, and then Thrawn spoke again, eerily calm.
"We uncovered these in our continued excavation of the secondary hanger," he told... someone in the room, probably the interrogation officer. Ezra felt pinpricks blossom on his arms as Thrawn continued, "I recommend you make use of them. Use any force you deem necessary."
"Of course, Grand Admiral," came the assurance.
Tapping sounds again, fading out. Ezra pressed back against the table, nervous, tensing up with anxiety. His head twitched this way and that, trying to guess what Thrawn could possibly have given his tormentors and where the next strike would come from. The darkness pressed in on his eyes, telling him nothing, giving him no warnings or clues.
"You heard the Grand Admiral," the interrogator said, vindictive twinges in his tone. "Hit him harder."
That was all Ezra got to brace himself before a searing electrical pain jabbed firmly into his ribcage. Ezra felt a sharp piercing poke and then his nerves were alight with hot fire, burning through his whole chest, contracting and constricting and squeezing.
The pikes from off the Royal Guard, he recognized dully, in the midst of his winding pain.
He cried out, voice shrill and panicked, and the electricity was taken away, leaving him gasping, heaving for breath.
Kriff... he thought. His body was no longer drowsy, nerves alight with the tingling aftereffects. He felt horribly awake and aware, and dread grew in his chest as he realized what was going to have to endure.
"Give me one," trooper three grunted, and Ezra heard a faint shunt! as something was passed to him.
He swallowed hard, tensing his body and preparing for the worst.
A thunderous blow crashed into his collar; Ezra seized up, his back arching, head knocking back against the table as he squeezed eyes closed behind the blindfold and screamed.
