this might like seem strange or not a very forward idea but can you do qiu and tamarack with a reader who has a bunch of chalk? like they go outside and just use their chalk all the time?

I decided to make headcanons out of this, lmk if you meant a Drabble!

Them seeing your chalk for the first time:

- Tamarack learned this fun fact on a Sunday afternoon

- Honestly, it’s surprising she didn’t find out earlier

- There were no plans with the boy’s club that day, no shopping to do, and not many ideas in your head

- So you went to your last resort; Chalk.

- A while back, on a boring shopping trip with your mom before even Golden Grove, you spotted a large bucket of chalk. Not only that, a cheap large bucket of chalk

- One cheap enough for your money to afford on your own! So your mom ended up letting you buy it

- Anyway, back to that sunday

- You were currently drawing some mushrooms you had seen in the forest the previous day along with other doodles

- Until Tamarack popped up

- She had been walking out to go to the forest. She was going to ask if you wanted to explore around until she peeked over your shoulder and saw your doodles

- Let me tell you, she lit up.

- “That looks so cool!” She said. You two spent the rest of the day doodling away on the sidewalk

- Qiu had found out when he had returned home from Darren’s house to find you and Tamarack huddled over a bit of the sidewalk

- Honestly, you looked like you were scheming.

- So he, of course, asked what you were doing.

- To which you and Tamarack revealed your masterpiece of pastel pink and yellow and blues.

- After a few compliments from Qiu’s end, he ended up joining in till dinner!

- Which is one of the few times you’ve seen him so far without his gloves (he didn’t want chalk on them)

Now more general stuff:

- Tamarack, as she stated, thinks it's pretty cool!

- I like to think she has some chalk, but nowhere near the range of colors you do!

- And she doesn’t use them nearly as frequently

- Anyway! She likes to doodle with you sometimes

- Even more she likes to watch you cover the sidewalk all the way from her house to Qiu’s in chalk (If your determined/bored enough to do that much)

- Lets just say both of you are disappointed when it rains

- If you draw her, she’ll be super happy!

- She also likes drawing you sometimes if your both using the chalk

- If she’s drawing with you, she likes using red and yellow because it reminds her of the forest

- Qiu also thinks it’s pretty nice

- Doodle buddies? Doodle buddies.

- The only difference is yours are more colorful and on the ground while his end up on the ground

- Sometimes the two of you will draw similar things but you with chalk usually and him with his notebook

- He likes using your chalk too! But he doesn’t as much as Tamarack might.

- He’ll laugh if he sees you’ve covered the whole houses area with chalk

- If your sad about it washing away, he might suggest using a more permanent drawing tool

- He’ll compliment your drawings and if you bring them up compliment them to Baxter and Darren!

- If he’s using your chalks, he’ll mostly use the yellows and oranges

You’ve known Qiu is popular since the first day. You’ve known that your new. And you’ve known that valentines cards and boxes of chocolates ‘don’t really matter in the long run’ or so your mom has said. But seeing the few simple cards that lay in your hands kind of hurt. A few cards from other kids, but the number stayed the same as most of the class passed out their treats. The class had been passing out their valentines treats in alphabetical order, most having gotten them only for their friends.

The list made its way down to Q, when one of your few friends approached you; Qiu Lin. The apple of your eye, the objects of your affections, and your first crush in fifth grade. You could hear the feet walk across the carpeted floor before seeing them stop in front of your desk as something was placed on top of it. You looked up at them, seeing their cute smile before they walked away to hand out the rest.

While for some, a treat from the Qiu Lin was a simple courtesy, for you it was time stopping. A chocolate bar of your favorite kind and a handmade card. On the brown notebook paper, the same kind that started it all, was a sweet piece of writing. ‘I’m really glad we’re friends! Happy valentines, Qiu Lin.’

The simple card made some blood rush to your face. The only other card that was given to you that day was from Tamarack. It was sweet, but in your heart it didn’t hold a candle to the card from Qiu.

Soon after, school ended. Your small pile of valentines was easy to carry, while Qiu’s larger haul was more impressive. Tamarack’s pile, like yours, wasn’t anything too big. You smiled, catching up to Qiu’s pace. On the top of his pile was a small heart shaped card, the one you had given them. “Thanks for the note, Qiu. And the chocolates…” you said, looking at them before looking forward again. “It’s no problem! Thanks for yours, too.” Qiu gave you a smile also.

All you knew at that moment was that you wanted to spend many more valentines with them. And you would.

Qiu Lin x Reader

Flowers

Ever since your very first day in Golden Grove, you’ve never seen many flowers. The few you’ve seen were more warm tones. The forest was beautiful, you knew that for sure, but not much floral accents.

Another thing you’ve noticed since you first arrived in Golden Grove was Qiu Lin. Qiu was charming, beautiful, and overall friendly. And it caught your eye. Since around then, you’ve had a small crush on the brunette. And, so far, you haven’t noticed the reciprocation. Its been you, Qiu and tamarack. Not just you and Qiu… yet.

Today there were no plans with Qiu’s club, or foraging with tamarack, or unpacking to do. It was just an empty Saturday. You were sat on the curb, occasionally looking up at the sky. You subtly played with an orange leaf between your fingers, but not much else. Soon you heard boots stepping on the concrete roads. You move your gaze, catching sight of one of your neighbors, Qiu. The light autumn sun illuminated his hair, catching the dark brown perfectly.

“Hey, (Name)!” Qiu called out. You looked towards his hand, noticing light red petals. You spot his usual smile, charming as ever. Blood went to your cheeks, which you hoped wasn’t noticeable. They held out their hand, showing a red Gardenia in his palm. It was pretty and truly fit the autumn colors illuminating the world around you.

“What’s this for Qiu?” You asked, looking away from the flower and into his eyes as you stood up. That wasn’t a good idea if you were aiming for getting less flustered, as when his charming eyes caught yours more warmth went to your cheeks.

“I saw it in the forest. It reminded me of you! And I thought it’d be nice to give to you, since you only moved here recently…” Qiu explained, putting it into your cupped hands.

You weren’t aware that being a new kid wasn’t the only reason. It was more so Qiu’s hidden crush on you that fueled that decision, along with how much it reminded him of you.

You looked down at the flower again and smiled. “Thanks, Qiu!” You said with a smile. Even without knowing the reasoning behind this gift, the gesture caught your eye. You rubbed the petals lightly with your thumb and a smile on your face. “I better go home now, Qiu. Moms making dinner soon.” You walked to your house, careful of the blossom in your palms. Once home, you’d find a way to preserve it. One thing you were sure of is that the new house felt even better with the beautiful flower inside, a sign of your hidden affections.

Cassie couldn’t help but feel this emptiness in her chest. It was familiar. It was the feeling as people’s eyes turned away from hers when her words turned from the school day to the stars. The feeling when her words were so clearly ignored. But currently, it was the feeling of knowing her life isn’t the same anymore. She knew it wouldn’t be, didn’t she? She knew her life would change someday. Someday soon even. But now, she wished it was as far away as the sun from the earth. But it’s here. The moment she processed the fact her friends weren’t friends anymore. She was used to her friends leaving her. That was for sure. But she wasn’t used to them leaving each other.

In the back of her head, she wondered if this was worth it. If the times they were friends, and she was happy with them, was worth this period of uncomfort in her heart. Cassie let her eyes squint, forcing tears out. She wanted to be selfish again. She wanted nothing more than to not care about Qiu or tamarack any longer. But she does. And now, it causes her to feel this lump in her throat. It felt like a black hole was sucking any possible words or sobs away from her. She couldn’t have the relief of sobbing, nor the feeling of familiarity in any way good.

POSTING MY OUR LIFE OC!!!

Her name is Cassiopeia or Cassie btw!!

Cassiopeia was named that because I think Opal gave birth to her on a night the sky was full of stars, and one that stood out was the Cassiopeia. She’s kind of like Baxter in the way she got fascinated in it because of her name.

Cassiopeia isn’t very social. She isn’t shy, just quiet. Not anxious but more just awkward. She’s the kind of person to walk up to someone if they have something space related. She’s friends with Tamarack and Qiu partly out of circumstances but also out of interest. Her bedroom at the time (if I could make it outside of the game) would be covered in the wall stars, star sheets, solar system posters, the whole Shabam. I imagine her favorite movie would be a documentary about space.

Cassiopeia is the kind that hates change in her life. She sometimes just can’t handle it. This type of change would destroy her for a while, but she can’t do anything. She just needs to deal with it.

Cassie is like Marcy Wu from amphibia if Marcy was more reclusive and showed less emotion. All her past friends wouldn’t pay any attention to her main interest in space and so her two friends splitting would break her. As she gets older she becomes more aware of her interests and how she isolates herself in some ways.

Cassie is a lot less outward about her interest in space as time goes on. She goes from bright sweaters to more neutral tones, her usual skirts to long jeans, and stops having so many star accessories. She can connect to tamarack in changing herself. In childhood, Cassie would usually go by her full name (Cassiopeia off the constellation) but now she only goes by Cassie as she gets embarrassed by her actual name. She hangs out with both Qiu and tamarack seperately most likely but she feels tense when she does knowing what’s happened to the friendship.

Cassie has very specific preferences in her wardrobe and schedule that she starts to ignore for this sense of normality. Such as her hate of tight clothing, dislike of sudden plan changes, and discomfort with new people approaching her. She starts to ignore these things as it’s not that she wants friends persay, but it’s that she wants approval she didn’t get as an antisocial child. She’s still kind of quiet and awkward, but she’s not the kid who only talks about stars anymore. She realized no one cares about her interests, and she should only care for theirs.

Rant!!

I don’t like how reader characters are either super nice and shy and stuff OR they’re rude and mean and sassy. Can’t we have more of a middle ground? Some people aren’t mean to everyone they meet but they also won’t cry the second someone insults them. I don’t know if it’s just me who noticed this a lot but it irritates me.
