bit of a strange one today, but tell me about a signature dish that your OCs make! Is it a family recipe? Something they make when they’re sad? Stressed? And for people with original universes this is a chance for you to infodump and/or flesh out the cuisine of your world!
👀👀👀 oh i love this one! fun XD
Verita
Jjamppong (spicy korean/chinese seafood noodle soup) - she cooks it from scratch with the help of her partners family. Everything from the seafood stock to the spice mix to the sauces to the hand pulled noodles (La Mian) are all carefully prepared together. As such it's a rare meal for special occasions and when they really really feel like it. She makes is very spicy.
Her everyday signature dish is Capped Stew. It's a thick stew made with water, animal fat, mushrooms and whatever veges she happens to have available. She favours rabbit, sweet potato and ginger. It's called 'Capped' because she also steams a thick, naan-like, herby flat bread over the top of the pot while it cooks, like a bready headcap. Afterwards it's eaten as is or ripped and dropped into the stew like soup dumplings.
Yuuji
Makes a good curry rice, spicy and savoury rather than sweet. He makes good flavoured rice balls too.
Myra & Lillith
Myra makes a good curried beef soup. Lillith makes good stacked pancakes.
Silvaiarin & Lale
Silvaiarin is good at making shredded vegetable fritters, cheesy chicken bakes and skirt cakes (small friand like cakes, very fluffy, shaped like meringues). Lale is good at steamed stuffed seaweed, charcoaled handpies and Kilnsly balls (sticky dough balls, fried or baked, stacked for coating)
Celine & Filor
Their cooking experience is limited to military rations so I'd reconsider before eating anything they cook for you.
Florian
He does the best cupcakes ever. And individual cob loaves

Yay! I got the Deck of Worlds and it's so much. I can't wait to try the story and lore boxes. So excited for them.
But first, my first World's attempt using the cards on the top.
Tumblr media
I have the Hissing Spires, a grassland named after the hissing sound of the wind through the rows of spires. They're known for their seasonal great floods that cover the plains, a dangerous but beautiful sight as it reflects the skies above. They also have unique carnivorous plants like eating the mosquitoes and other bugs drawn by the floods.
The unique expansive spires and low grasslands were caused by a series of epic storms which wore down the mountains. It's a historic natural sight with no settlements (largely due to the flooding).
Scientists fear that the Great Storm is coming again due to a natural phenomenon seeming to hide the stars beyond sight. Now they must determine if their fears are true and what to do afterwards. Surviving the worst case scenario vs determining whatever's actually going on if it's unrelated.
I love this 💕

Code Blue
By Bjorn Fenrissen & DrivingMeBonkas
It wasn’t often that his gigs went sideways, but given how often his services were needed, it was bound to happen sometimes.  Some in worse ways than others.
This, unfortunately, was one of those ‘worse’ ways.  And Kris was ill-equipped to handle this level of injury.  Rudimentary field first aid was the extent of his skills, and a bullet wound this bad with blood loss this severe was well outside his scope, and that wasn’t taking into account the delicate nature of elven biology.
Which meant that he needed help.  Not something he needed often, but at least he didn’t have so much pride as to deny he needed it when he did.
The location they’d found themselves in made finding help a bit tricky, however.  In the middle of Espana, with a wounded, in-and-out-of-consciousness elf, and in a time crunch, there weren’t many options for help.  He had to keep them to the Underground, otherwise they’d be found and arrested.
Kris had heard rumors of a trained doctor in this region that was willing to help those utilizing the Underground, though he’d never met her personally.  Out of all the options available to him and the wounded woman in his care, that seemed like the best bet, despite the risk of the unknown.
So that was where he headed, hoping that he remembered the directions to her location correctly.  A false turn now could spell death.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A day later, rain pouring down over him and his bundled up charge in a makeshift cart, he knocked on the door to the building before them.  The Underground symbols scratched into the brick to the right of the doorframe told him that this is where he needed to be, and he hoped that the doctor was actually in.
When the door opened, pale gray eyes met the steely gaze of a young drowish woman.  He was exhausted, and hoped that she’d be willing to help.  Evanlyn didn’t have much time left, given how shallow her breaths had become.
Flashing the hand sign of a Friend of the Underground, he said, “I’ve got someone who’s hurt, and she needs a doctor.  Can you help?”  Rain drummed on the roof and pattered off the waterproof material of his hood, almost as loud as his raspy voice.
She glanced over the soggy brown lump in his cart and curtly nodded, leading them into a dimly gas-lit hallway.
"Madame! Urgent package! Postman says he needs your signature!"
"I can hear you Neti, no need to shout. Bring them to the delivery room."
Lifting Evanlyn into his arms and following her, Kristoff took the opportunity to get the lay of the place. The open waiting room and shared treatment space was clearly a repurposed pub. The rooms they passed were open with 2, 4 or 6 beds, some made more spacious by amateurishly knocked down walls. Each looked well-used, clean and most notably, empty. Not a good sign for a supposedly reputable doctor.
The woman, Neti, stared him down when he hesitated before the 'delivery room'. It looked strange, different from a usual hospital room, even by what he'd seen of this place's standards. The bed had metal bars. A knotted rope hung over its centre.
"This is the delivery room. Put the patient down or leave."
Kris shifted the woman in his arms, shooting Neti a glare.  “I’m not leaving her until she’s healed.  She-”
"That's enough! Leave your bickering for after the urgent matter!"
Neti turned to the tall woman in a huff. The doctor, Madame Verita, gestured to the bed.
"Put the girl down. We'll talk as I work. Neti, get the man a blanket before he joins her."
He did as he was told, placing Evanlyn onto the bed carefully after watching Neti leave.  “What’s her deal?” he asked under his breath, more to himself than to the doctor, but she could still hear him.
Verita hummed, bustling around Evanlyn with medicine jars, red vials and surgical tools hovering around her. The elves’ very skin and organs shifted to her will. Kristoff turned from the frankly disturbing sight to the doctor who still hadn't claimed her price.
"Sorry about that, there's a new Family in charge of this town and we've only got 'til sunrise to book it. This delivery room was the last to close, good thing too or we wouldn't have the blood replenishments on hand. Unfortunately for you, that means we aren't accepting cash. But there is your services, Mr. Postman."
While that wasn’t a name he’d been called before, it worked as well as any other, especially in this instance.  “Which means that you need something else from me as payment, instead,” he replied.  “I don’t have much to offer.”
"We don't need much. Neti's making her own way to another clinic, I'll have her bring your elf if you're done with her. All you need to do is get me across the ocean to Vierre. My friend will take things from there. The undersea tunnel checkpoints are beyond me so how we get there is on you."
There was a moment of pause, then he finally responded, “I can take you where you want to go, so long as you can promise Evanlyn’s safety.”  It was, after all, what a Guide did.
"That's that then. I'm done with your package Mr Postman, she'll last until the next clinic and recover well. Get her ready to leave with us or Neti and we'll be on our way."
Looking down at Evanlyn, he could tell immediately that she did look much better.  And he’d kept his end of things.  She’d gotten away, and she’d be safe with these people now.
“Thank you.  I’ll just grab her things from the cart, and then I’m yours,” Kris said with a nod.  Without waiting for a response, he headed back down the hallway and outside, grabbing the bags from the makeshift contraption that had allowed him to carry the elf and their belongings all this way.
Dropping one bag beside the bed, he put the other, more worn one over his shoulder.
“Ready when you are.  Name’s Kristoff.  I’ll take you across the border, but you’ve got to do what I say when I say it, otherwise we might find ourselves in a dangerous situation.  I’ll be honest, it’s a dangerous path, but I’ve done it before and likely do it again, and so long as you follow my lead, you’ll get to where you’re going.”
Verita chuckled drily, “Don’t bother yourself over me, Kristoff. I’m a doctor, I know what it means to follow a specialist. I’m no fainting daisy either.” She looked up at him as she fixed a clean pair of leather gloves and her own bags. “This flower was raised upon blood-soaked soil and corpses piled to the skies. I can hold my own but I’ll follow you properly.”
“Alright, then.  Let’s get moving.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It didn’t take more than a couple hours to get well within the tunnels he’d used dozens of times before.  In fact, these connected to the others he’d been using to travel with Evanlyn, at least in part.  The fact that they’d been found down there meant that some Patrols were starting to get wise to the Underground’s movements.  Which was decidedly not good, but he could make a report about it when he was next able.
“I’ve heard a thing or two about you, Doc,” Kris said, breaking the silence that had fallen between them since they’d started out.  Other than their footsteps, only the clatter of small stones underfoot and the occasional drip of water could be heard.  The strong flashlight in his hands illuminated the dark tunnel ahead of them.  “You a member of the Underground, or you just work with them?”
“We’re not unrelated, but I don’t work with them, no. I work independently and stay afloat with favours and reputation. I’d play nice with the Head Family, keep my neutrality and I’d have a living. My work depends on niceties and relationships, thus the change in leadership landing us in this situation.” Verita looked around, eyes catching on the dripping stalactites and distant glow. “Not that I mind, I’ve been meaning to visit these tunnels. I heard the walls are bioluminescent, like a map of stars, or veins. It’s nostalgic, my home had cave systems like these act as Sanctuaries during the desert heats. That and this nonsense’s given me an excuse to resettle and build a life closer to allies. What of you? I've heard of your Guide duties.”
Kristoff gave her a small nod. “Not a member, myself.  Works out best for everyone that way.  I’m happy just doing the Guide thing when it’s needed.”  He shrugged, finally pushing his hood back from his face, revealing long dark hair pulled back into a ponytail.  “Like now, for instance.  I’m glad you were still around when I came by, otherwise-”
He cut himself off, senses screaming at him to stop.  Holding out a hand, he gestured for Verita to stop, too, then put his finger to his lips.  He thought he’d heard something up ahead, but now he wasn’t hearing anything.
A gunshot rang out as he took an investigative step forward, and he jumped back.
“Shit!  They’re here!” he hissed as he ran back towards her and tugged at her arm to get her to follow him.  “Espana’s Patrols!  We’ve gotta go!”
Throwing an arm out behind him, he summoned several Shades - tall, amorphous, shadowy beings with glowing red eyes - and ordered them to attack.  As he led Verita down a different tunnel, he could hear the screams of the soldiers behind them, as well as more gunshots.
The Shades would at least give them a bit of time, if only a few moments.
A few moments could mean the difference between life and death, so he’d take it gladly.
Thankfully, his charge seemed to agree with him. The Madame kept pace behind him, calm, grim faced and quiet as a shade. She stuck to the shadows, tracing his every turn before he even had a chance to indicate them. He recalled her earlier claims of competence. Clients often talked heights of themselves to their own detriment. It was a comfort she wasn't amongst them.
Scattered gunshots and wet, squelching gore echoed closer.
Kristoff made a sharp turn into a cavern. Thready curtains of algae-like plants hung from the roof, blanketing the walls and ground. Shadowy crevices hinted at exits, yet disappointed with cold walls.
Bright. Slippery. Closed off.
A recipe for disaster if not for his ability.
“If you’ve got something to help us lose them, now‘s the time to use it,” Kris said, hurriedly looking down the forked tunnels for the signs that would guide them where to go.  “My Shades will hold them for a bit, but not for long.  Bullets do work on them.  But once we get enough distance, I can transport us further down using the shadows, far enough to hopefully lose them in the dark.”
He paused a moment, as the Madame shifted into the entrance. Far from the stone-faced woman of earlier, her expression stretched into bloodthirsty delight. "A convenient ability, I'm almost jealous. As it is", she firmed her stance, long daggers flicking out from her gloves, "It seems I'll enjoy entertaining our guests".
High pitched wails heralded their pursuers arrival. And their end. Verita leaped, knives flashing, teeth bared like a wild thing. Verita spun low, rerouting bullets around her like a star in orbit, flinging them into muscle and sinew. Her knives flung past them, startling them into a scatter for count.
One. Inching to the entrance. Two. Knees buckled to the ground, resigned to his fate. Three. Bloody and crazed, stepping back, gun high.
A small yank to the heart. A wet gasp. A thud to the ground.
One.
Her knife pulled back, landing true into a back bowed over.
Two.
A tug to a belt. Panicked wailing swallowed into gaping eldritch maws.
Three.
Verita caught her knives, cleaning and hiding them in her gloves. She nodded to the dissipating shades, looking over her work in cruel satisfaction. Blood raged hot through her veins. She took a breath to ground herself.
One ~
Two ~
Three ~
Bloodthirsty euphoria simmered back into the quiet of a still lake.
Verita turned on her heels into the cavern where Kristoff had continued his work undisturbed by the macabre backdrop. Unperturbed by her red-splattered skirts, he pointed to a new, darkly shadowed tunnel. “Time to get out of here,” he said, holding out his hand.  It would take no time at all to Shadow-walk to the border from here, now that they’d ‘lost’ their pursuers.
She took his hand. He closed his eyes. And focused.
It only took a second before his secondary ability activated, melding them with the shadows of the dark tunnel.  To Verita, the world seemed a grayscale blur as they ‘walked’, each step taking them as far as the eye could see and as far as the shadows could take them.  To Kris’ trained eye, everything was crystal clear, and he took in the information as quickly as it came, allowing their quick movement that would appear like teleportation to anyone other than himself. Grey rapidly faded to green, sending Verita to a stumbling halt. Kristoff steadied her as she took in the Silver Forests of Vierre.
They’d made it.
January Mages of Pages Writing Exercise
The writing discord server I'm on, Mages of Pages, usually runs 2-3 competitions every month. They have 1 that lasts about a month. and 1 or 2 lasting about a fortnight each. But this month they decided try something different. Instead of a competition the month-long slot turned into an interesting writing exercise.
Volunteers were to be paired up into groups of two and write a collaborative piece. We were given a hard word limit of 2000-2250. Our work was to be colour-coded and shared equally with no one writers individual work being outside the 25%-50% limits. Blue and red were assigned to authors for individual work. Black for pieces where both authors contributed equally to word choice, theme, character voice and tone. There was to be a minimum of 1 completely collaborative paragraph. The project had to be completely new and fit within PG13 guidelines. It could be an original work or fanfiction.
Pairs who completed this got paired roles.
I was paired with Bjorn Fenrissen and immediately called dibs on blue. XD After checking out each others tastes and preferences and finding shared ground, we settled on a modernish D&D style fantasy in the Underground. And we had a story! The time zone differences were tricky but splitting parts helped circumvent that particular issue and it was so much fun!
We got a cool roll too. Signs of the Underground!
And here's our end result! XD I'll type it out in full without the colour coding in a reblog.
Hope you enjoy

Q&A - Build Your Own Story Week
This time on the writers discord server, the question of the day was set-up as a 5 part response over the week. The moderators spent the week asking us questions about our preferences, storytelling, characters writing and worldbuilding in the hopes it would give us a better understanding of our writing and maybe even give us some potential new WIPS to work on. Some days were simple, others were a bit more complicated or had multiple parts to it.
Instead of posting my responses separately I decided to compile them all here in one post. No messy searching for me XD. Enjoy!
what is your favorite (or least favorite) genre to write, and why? do most of your WIPs fall in the same genre?
I like hopeful fantasy, fix-its, what-ifs, supernatural/mythic fantasy, steampunk and slice-of life.
I like reading romance (but am very fussy) but don't like writing it. Definitely not a fan of crime/horror.
I guess I don't like the dreary, but I do like questionable endings, non-perfect endings, vague endings (so long as the story itself is solid enough). I mean, one my fave stories sever is Harmony by Project ITOH. I also the 'for-want-of-a-nail' trope so the speculative what if this did(n't) happen stories or plots where things line up just so are great.
Most of my WIPS are what ifs, fix-its or continuations. they tend to have a funny/serious or happy/peaceful tone.
if you were to take two of your favorite plot devices and one of your least favorite, what sort of plot could you make from that? (within the bounds of what you’re willing to write!)
Two plot devices I like are non-perfect happy endings that came with some sort of change/loss and for-want-of-a-nail, what-if type situations. Or maybe fond family. That's good stuff.
One I don't like but could maybe possibly write is love triangles or typical hero object quest things.
One I don't like and definitely could not write is those goddamn annoying misunderstandings that could be easily avoided if the characters just stopped, took a breath, and waited for just one damn moment.
Worldbuilding Questions
Does your world have magic? How is it used?
What historical era does it take place in? (OR, if it's your own fantasy world, what important events have happened before this point?)
Is there running water?
What does the difference between the classes look like? (Is there significant class division?)
freebie! pick a random element that you'd like to include and consider how that informs the rest of your world! (for example, the existence of ghosts!)
Magic
I'm undecided on whether or not I have magic. Probably not. But if I do go with it it'll be used in conjunction with science so they'll support each other.
Historical Era
Some undecided millennium after a global apocalypse in a fantasy world. I.E era. There's been loads of technological advancements so i guess it's semi-modern?
Running Water
Some places yes, other places no. Haven't worked out the technology of it yet.
Classism
There are class differences, to varying degrees. There are a lot of displaced people and new nations thanks to the societal and ecological changes from the apocalypse so people are still kind working it out. Some have managed something close to equality or democracy, some haven't.
Quirks
I'll have to pick a few faves, I think.
The Apocalypse: It wasn't anything grizzly like a meteor or disease or something. It's just that there was a difference in space causing the planet to be exposed to a greater degree of light and heat. That fractional amount was just enough to completely through the ecosystem out of wack, which then messes with society.
Leyakist/Manteia: Really cool continents. Solarpunk meets afrofutirism meets fantasy. The continents themselves are made not of your typical land, but one really freaking huge lotus pad shaped fungis. It's one fungi but it has to pad growths so there are two continents. The people can travel to each other through the deep sea stems. No one knows about this. The continents are also completely isolated from the rest of the world because the fungi messes with the wind and ocean patterns.
MaiRycia: A ginormous bow shaped continent often thought of as two because the centre area is under the control of two allied nations. The lower nation is willfully isolated so no one can go through them. Instead they have to go through the top nation which is super wealthy because of all the trade. The right of MaiRycia is entirely a religious empire and the left is a bunch of indivual nations of various governances. People like the centre being cut off for this reason.
Aurora River: The planet has rings that change colours seasonally (which actually makes it a useful annual calander). The shadow it casts is called the Aurora River and is a common travel route.
Kalreem: A continent full of lakes and fault line hotsprings. The aesthetic is a mix of Venice, SE Asia and art nouveau.
Wicklser: Gourd shaped continent with mountains, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Split by a river that runs along it's length that has a ginormous boat train running on it. The train is also a nation with underground cities.
Belryde: Almost always winter here. Shaped like a penguin.
Main Cast Questions
first and foremost, do you have multiple POVs, or only one? are you writing this in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?
next, think a little bit about your story so far… what kind of role would your main characters have in this world? do the main events happen to them, or do they go out and seek change?
and, perhaps most importantly… what are some flaws you might give them?
I usually focus on just one characters POV, but sometimes I'll do 2 or even 3 if I'm feeling particularly brave.
I almost always write in 3rd person.
Right now I just have a world, but the stories would probably be on a smaller scale, people living their lives, going through relationships, exploring the world around them, going on their own adventures. The worlds events would affect them but wouldn't be the focus.
Flaws are tricky, depends which characters and story I choose.
so far, we’ve looked at genre, plot, worldbuilding, and most recently, our main cast! now that we have some main foundations, we’re going to look at something a bit more nuanced… antagonists. depending on your story, this role could be fulfilled by a lot of people or things. it might be nature itself, the MC’s flaws, or an external “villain.” so! who’s the villain of this story?
Antagonists! oh no……um……….
This one's difficult to answer since I don't have a set story and only a handful of OCs. I'm still focused on setting up the foundations of the setting. As such I'll answer this in three parts: ideas for my OCs, ideas for planned fanfic wips and the sorts of antagonists i find i tend to like or write.
First things first, the OCs.
Lale, Silvaiarin and Silvaiarins sister (really need a name for her) are all from the same story. Their story is a complicated one so I'll focus on their individual antagonists. For Silvaiarin and his sister their antagonists are their conflicting desires and the people/politics at home. Silvaiarin wants to leave to marry Lale. His sister wants to be the next ruler. But traditions are getting in the way of their goals so they have to not only defy tradition but break it and remake it anew entirely. Lale has to face the uncertainty of Vaias' family when gaining their approval and Vaias' own personal issues. Worse, they're all preparing for a massive war, so the opposing leaders are also major antagonists.
Verita is survivor of a conflict zone, human trafficking and institutional/systemic violence. Her story is about her surviving it, growing through it and taking her place in the world. Her antagonists are the powers that be, the ignorance and prejudice of the common people, the systemic abuse and discrimination and most horribly, herself. No one comes out of that in one piece. She puts herself through the wringer trying to make it out as mentally intact as possible, then she must learn to heal, even if it means discarding the methods that kept her safe and sane in the first place. Her choices themselves are the antagonists.
Myras' story is about her achieving her dream of becoming a prosthetist. I'm not sure what that would make her antagonist? Her lacking skills? A character flaw? Maybe I could make contradicting goals or values. I'm really not sure yet 😅
Next are the antagonists in my favourite fanfic wips and ideas.
The one I'm most looking forward to is a modern au MDZS one where Jiang Yanli leaves her household with her siblings to live in a safe home instead. It's about her no longer just surviving, but living. The antagonists are her parents, conflicting internal goals and values (in particular the importance she places on her siblings and her role as the one who raised them, and her needing to learn to live as herself rather than only perceiving herself through her role as a caregiver), the issues her siblings are dealing with, conflicting wants/needs & values/goals.
Another MDZS fic, I'm going to have Madam Jin overthrow her husband and take over the Lanling Jin Sect by allying herself with his victims, especially his bastards and their mothers. Her antagonists will be her husband, much of the Jin Sect, the cultivations worlds traditional values and her own traditional values and prejudices.
There are a couple of Pet Shop of Horrors fanfics where Leon tries to find D. I'm not sure what this makes the antagonist. Their relationship issues? Communication issues? Distance?
There are others but those are the ones I know best off the top of my head.
Lastly, antagonist types I tend to write or favour.
When it comes to antagonist characters I definitely prefer some flavour, an interesting motive, complicated relationships, depths. Characters that aren't cookie cutter baddy of the day types.
Concept type antagonists are fun when they involve the internal conflicts and growth of the characters, like the conflict between needs and wants or goals and values. The sorts that come with difficult non-perfect choices, especially if there's not clear cut right or wrong and the consequences aren't ideal but work well. You win some you lose some, that sort of thing. Societal/Cultural based conflicts, especially those that provoke thoughts of 'what if' are also fun but I tend to prefer reading them to writing them.

Summer Camp 2023! HW complete!
Yay! This years summer camp is coming around and my pledge and homework prep are officially complete! I was worried I wouldn't be able to participate this year because the router was on its death throes but we were able to get a new one just in time, so no worries here. Lucky me. XD So hyped! Camp feral for the win!
This year I'm aiming for Copper (hi fellow bronze buddies) at 8 prompts. I think I'll do well this year, so much so I might just pass the first 8. Why? Because World Anvil is trying out this super cool new theme setup. Instead of just the one overarching monthly theme they're giving us 4 themes (one per week) and 8 wild cards (2 per week), so there's 40 prompts to choose from. Not only do we get more options we're not completely stuck if a theme doesn't quite vibe with us.
The 4 themes this year are
Power
Frontiers
Relics
Communication
I think I'm all set up for Relics and Communication. Power and Frontiers are going to be tricky but I've got some ideas up my sleeves. We'll see how it goes. Overall the WA team seems to have an overarching theme of how groups and individuals influence and react to each other, so that'll make for some interesting prompts.
And I've got the perfect book for Relics! Lucky me XD

I'm kinda hoping for some geographic locations, technologies, organisations, species, materials and traditions. They'd help me build Vilyiterna well.
But yep! All done and raring to go! Got my notebook and pens! I'm looking forward to joining you all with my blankets and hot chocolates.
See you all there!

Ask Game For Writers from neontokyoo
1. Do you listen to music while you write?
Usually it's anime soundtracks, songs in non-english languages or classical music. But sometimes I loop the same 10-20 current fave songs, according to my mood.
2. Computer or pen and paper.
I've gotten better at using a computer, but all my best work is done with the old pen and paper. It has to be a blue pen too. Black pens suck for creative flow. Sometimes I'll use a colourful one too., especially if I'm stuck on something.
3. Have you ever been published, or do you want to be published?
Nope and no, probably not. I used to want to self-publish, but right now I'm content with my fanfiction, character designs and worldbuilding.
4. How much writing do you get done on an average day?
It varies a lot. I honestly couldn't say.
5. Single or Multiple POV
Usually single but multiple can be fun if it's a longer story. And almost always in 3rd person.
6. Standalone or Series
I tend to do standalones, mostly oneshots. But I've got a few series planned.
7. Oldest WIP
I recently rediscovered a multichapter HP/FMA fic over a decade old. Woops.
8. When did you start writing?
Sometime in early to mid primary school. I honestly can't remember exactly when.
9. What was the first story you've ever written?
I do remember a story where a teenage girl becomes some sort of bug eating fae creature and her human boyfriend sticks around, even after witnessing her snacking on live ladybugs. That's the earliest actual story I remember. Wish I still had that. I'm not sure if there were any before it. I've been writing so long I really couldn't say.
10. What genres have you written so far?
Historical and Fantasy. But now it's mostly fanfiction.
11. Have you ever written for a fandom without reading other fanfictions from that fandom?
Not that I can think of, no.
12. Have you ever written a fic and never decided to publish it? Why?
Yep. Because it was way too cringy. Seriously, it's what I read when I want to laugh at myself. I might try rewriting it at some point though, if it's at all recoverable.
13. What is the biggest change between when you started writing in fandom and today?
I started off as a horny teenager writing gay smut. Now I look at a smut prompt and try to work out how to make it fluff instead. I do it to the angst prompts too.
14/15. In your opinion, what’s your most underrated/overrated fic?
I don't have enough yet to really say. So none I guess.
16. Has there ever been everyone who’s made you freak out because they’ve read your work and followed/favorited/reviewed your work?
It's not the same, but once my primary school (it was near the end of my last year) teacher found the gay smut I'd written and after checking things were ok at home, said he looked forward to my writing career. Nerve-wracking as all hell.
17. What’s the nicest review you’ve ever gotten?
It's a hard choice between a beta liking the mood and build-up of the prologue to a HP fic of mine, or the ohshc one where a reader was hyped because they liked my take on some characters relationship.
18. Are any of your stories inspired by personal experiences?
Most of them are a hard no. But there's a series I have planned in the future heavily based on my personal experiences. I'm waiting until I've upped my skill level to write it because it means too much to me to botch it up on practise or levelling up.
19. Who’s the one character who shines without you even trying?
I think Verita, the one I named this blog after. I just love her.
20. What embarrasses you most about your own writing?
It's too descriptive, too fluffy. I'll get there.
21. Do you write every day?
No, but I definitely should.
22. What time of day do you prefer to write? Why?
Night time! Because I'm a night owl. And there's less distractions.
23. Do you feel like you put out enough content?
Yes and no. No because I'm not prolific or well-known enough for it to feel like content to me. Not that it really is for others, the vibes are off. But whatever. As for fics, definitely yes. Simply because I have so many ideas but just can't seem to get them on paper.
24. Favorite writing snack?
Biscuits! All the way! And sometimes rainbow popcorn.
By biscuits I mean what Americans call cookies, not that weird scone looking thing they eat with gravy.
25. What’s your favorite part of the writing process?
The thinking part 😅 I love daydreaming
26. What’s your favorite emotion to write?
Happiness, relief, freedom and anger.
27. What kind of endings do you prefer?
I like reading bittersweet but fulfilling endings. But I definitely prefer my own written works end on a happier note most of the time. The world's dreary enough as it is.
28. Do you plan or jump right in, and if you plan, how much do you like to do before you start a story?
I usually pants it but I've issues with writers block lately so now I'm giving planning a shot. We'll see how that goes.
29. Narrative or dialogue?
Dialogue. Without a doubt. I'm actually trying to cut back on that, I tend to write too much of that, not enough setting or action.
30. Describing people or settings?
Now that's a hard one. I love describing people, especially when they've got cool scars or clothes. But I've gotten into writing settings lately too.
I'll have to say people, I think.
31. Show a piece from your current WIP/most recent story, up to 30 words.
Sirius Black lied crumpled on the stone floor, eyes wide but unseeing. An eerie chill seeped deep into his bones. Wheezing wisps of fog barely escaped chapped blue lips. Pallid and gaunt, looking more like a skin dressed skeleton than a living person, his body seemed to have met death before his soul.
Rattling dread filled his ears and sapped at his strength. Even a twitch left him weaker, every ounce of energy trickling away from him by the moment. Slowly, slowly, icy stiffness spread up from his fingers and toes down to the very core of his being. Not even a scrap of magic seemed within reach.
His body trembled in a manic giggle as reality finally set(tled?) into his mind.
“Looks like I’ll be seeing you soon Prongs.”
The fog vanished.
I don't know how many words that is. Probably too many but ah well, it's still short.
Ask Game For Writers
Do you listen to music while you write?
I actually have two different writing playlists. I usually write with classical music or music that goes with the story and gets the creativity flowing because if it’s super quiet my mind tends to wander and I end up leaving my current draft to write a new one and then my perfectionist ass can’t keep up with my own thoughts and all of my documents are mixed up and it’s total chaos.
2. Computer or pen and paper?
Sometimes I will write in a notebook when I’m in the car or I’m not able to type anything just because I get really good ideas at the most random times. I usually type it though because I feel like it’s a lot easier for my left-handed ass.
3. Have you ever been published, or do you want to be published?
I have never actually published anything due to copyright because none of it is mine except for the storylines. I could probably publish an original work in the future, but I don’t really think I would want to because writing is just a hobby I do for fun and I really don’t care too much about getting famous or making money off of it.
4. How much writing do you get done on an average day?
I have absolutely no idea. Probably like five to ten thousand words a day because of requests and my current WIPs.
5. Single or multiple POV?
I mostly write in second person. However, I like to write about multiple characters’ thoughts and feelings.
6. Standalone or series?
I enjoy both. Although, in reality, I have never actually published a series yet because my mind usually wanders away from it before I can even finish it.
7. Oldest WIP.
Probably one of my unpublished Wattpad stories, Opposites (Sherlock x reader). I’m trying to get it published whenever I can, though. I just haven't had the inspiration or motivation to continue writing it yet.
8. When did you start writing?
I started writing about four years ago when I was in my Fairy Tail obsession.
9. What was the first story you've ever written?
I don’t even remember what it was but I remember it being a NaLu fanfiction for Fairy Tail.
10. What genres have you written for so far?
Romance, fanfiction (fluff and angst if those count).
11. Have you ever written for a fandom without reading other fanfictions from that fandom?
Yes. I do that with every single fandom I find myself obsessing over. I did it with Haikyuu, Fairy Tail, MHA, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, and Inuyasha.
12. Have you ever written a fic and never decided to publish it? Why?
Yes. Because I feel like I’ve been copying the Yuumori anime and Manga too much and I have A LOT of editing to do before I publish it.
13. What is the biggest change between when you started writing in fandom and today?
Probably the tone (I think). When I first started writing when I was like fourteen, I was really unorganized and scattered. I was using numbers instead of typing out “she was fourteen years old” and it really sucked now that I look back at it. Now my writing is more formal when I write stories because I type how I think instead of how I speak. Which is probably why everything else isn’t as organized because when it’s not a fanfic I stype how I speak.
14. In your opinion, what’s your most underrated fic?
I feel like in general my most underrated fic is the Sherlock x reader wedding one. Again, I love William more than anything, but this one had me in tears. You know those certain parts of either a story your writing or somebody elses story and it has you like screaming into your pillow for 10 minutes after every paragraph? That was literally me while writing that one.
15. What’s your most overrated fic?
In my opinion, it’s either just every single William fanfic I write, or it’s the amount of Mycroft angst requests I receive every day. It seriously makes me giggle with how angsty Mycroft’s relationship with the reader is. Has me giggling while I bawl my eyes out while I write it. That’s officially my new genre now: Mycroft Angst.
16. Has there ever been everyone who’s made you freak out because they’ve read your work and followed/favorited/reviewed your work?
Okay, when I first started posting on Tumblr it was because I happened to run into @moriartyluver and a few other blogs that I don’t remember because I never saved anything and let me tell you when I started getting notifications that said they either liked, reblogged, etc., my heart nearly stopped beating because I really wasn’t expecting for the inspiration to end up reacting to my work and it just made me really happy. It’s unbelievable how quickly my blog is growing and how many people enjoy it. I love you all! <3
17. What’s the nicest review you’ve ever gotten?
When I get asks that are always telling me like “I am so obsessed with your writing” and things like that it just makes me really happy and gives me more motivation to continue writing just knowing how many people enjoy my content.
18. Are any of your stories inspired by personal experiences?
A lot of them have references to my own personal experiences or things that I’ve seen other people experience because I feel like it’s a lot easier to write about things that I’ve actually experienced.
19. Who’s the one character who shines without you even trying?
William. He is literally husband material no matter what you do to him. As long as the writing style is good, I’m going to end up being obsessed with literally any and every fanfiction I read and/or write. He’s just perfect in general, and there isn’t really much you can do to ruin him.
20. What embarrasses you most about your own writing?
I feel like the most embarrassing thing I have ever written is sexual content/smut because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing due to my lack of experience.
21. Do you write every day?
I try to, but sometimes I’m unable to due to school and/or work. Exams are killing me and taking up most of my time lately, so I’ll write whenever I have the time, but usually I only get like five minutes every two hours between studying. I’ll definitely have more time to write this summer.
22. What time of day do you prefer to write? Why?
I usually write in the morning before school and/or before my first class starts, as well as late at night when I have more time.
23. Do you feel like you put out enough content?
I feel like I do, but I definitely feel like I could write more. I just don’t have time.
24. Favorite writing snack?
Oreos & milk, goldfish, and cinnamon rolls.
25. What’s your favorite part of the writing process?
I think that my favorite part is coming up with ideas to write about or add into a story. Even though 95% of the time they never make it to the finished project.
26. What’s your favorite emotion to write?
Mycroft angst and William fluff
27. What kind of endings do you prefer?
I actually have no idea. I want to say that if I had to pick one it would be cliffhangers or endings that didn’t really make sense because it always has me trying to figure out wtf just happened.
28. Do you plan or jump right in, and if you plan, how much do you like to do before you start a story?
I kind of do both if that makes sense. I’ll come up with an idea, think about how I want it to go, and then I’ll start writing without even drafting it. And then I usually have to go back and rewrite half of it because the original version was absolute shit.
29. Narrative or dialogue?
Dialogue. I cannot go without somebody talking because I feel like it gets really boring and I end up passing out halfway through it just because I’m wasting all my time and energy trying to make it more interesting.
30. Describing people or settings?
I feel like I’m better at settings just because every single one of my character descriptions are always: “He was tall and skinny with ____ eyes and long ____ hair”. You know? But with settings I can be a little bit more descriptive like “the grass was green with a variety of different types of flowers blooming. The sky was cloudless, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, …”
31. Show a piece from your current WIP/most recent story, up to 30 words.
The same one that probably will never be published, but at this point, I really don't care anymore.
“‘I am afraid there is little that can be done,’ William confessed to Moran and Bond after we had recounted our encounter with the woman. 'Once wed, the bond between a husband and wife is irrevocable. Unless, of course, the matrimonial union is terminated by unspeakable means.’
”'Till death do us part,’ I uttered aloud as if reading my brother’s thoughts.
“'Indeed,’ William concurred. 'Unfortunately, there are no alternatives. The only solution is to eliminate one of the partners.’”

name the OC (again)! — which of them confesses first? and why? how does it happen? (this is ur permission to ramble about them for a bit ehehe) and if you’re one of those mean authors /t who doesn’t let the characters get together, why?
Now this is tricky see, my OCs are the sort who just drifted together.
When asked when they first started dating they can never give a straight answer, or at least not an immediate one, as the best either can manage is to pick out the vague bit in-between definitely were and definitely weren't. This made things very difficult to explain to Silvaiarin's family, the poor thing. Lale didn't have to worry because it all happened right in front of their side of the family. Their sisters find it hilarious.
Silvaiarin (Vaia)
Vaia first realised Lale loved him and they were together when Lale kept seating him at the table spot reserved for partners and Lale's family kept referring to him as such. After he noticed that all the previous tender moments linked together in his mind and it all just clicked.
He first received verbal confirmation of their relationship when Lale started calling him 'Zophiana', a cringy overly sweet term of endearment along the lines of soulmate and beloved usually reserved for long lasting married couples, people with decades to their union.
He first realised he loved Lale when he found himself thinking upon him fondly when he was clumsy and feeling a hurtful longing whenever parted for too long and trying to think up ways to get back. (They live on separate continents and had family obligations to see to. They only met for family business and free trips.)
Vrulalkah (Lale)
Lale first realised Silvaiarin loved him and they were together when Vaia used any reason to hold hands and cuddle and go on dates.
He first received verbal confirmation of their relationship when Silvaiarin kept referring to his family as his own and vice versa. He was very flustered when even his own mother kept dragging Vaia around town and calling him hers.
He first realised he loved Silvaiarin from the first time they met and he kept getting flustered.
All these happened at different moments so there's no clear answer.

what jobs do your OCs have? if they don't currently work (be it legal or black market dealings), what occupies their time?
Verita: is an advisor and high ranked government worker specialised in the making and enaction of federal policies and liaison work with others. Her main achievements are in the medical, military and immigration sectors.
Myra: makes prosthetics and travels a lot. She especially loves the homecall part of her work.
Lale: works in agriculture & domestic affairs in the family business. He's an administrator and decision maker but sometimes he goes to help out to keep his perspective grounded. When his family shifts major responsibilities he sometimes helps out with port management and logistics.
Silvaiarin: sometimes helps with the sociocultural part of his in-laws business. But mostly he acts as a translator for people and translates various books. He also likes helping out with events at the library.
A/N: These are just possibilities. I'm still deciding for sure. (except Myra)

if your OCs were put into a college AU, what would they be like? (if your characters are already in a college setting, what would they be like in a fantasy AU?)
Verita
Vera would be absorbed in research projects and have the weirdest double degrees while dipping into various other courses/subjects whenever she has the time. She's the sort who'd have a professor hand her a degree/diploma and be shocked because apparently she'd managed to meet the requirements while messing about. She'd probably focus on agricultural technologies with a focus on fungi, micro-organisms or fermentation.
She wouldn't be in any clubs but she'd help out with major events and tutor/guide new students. The women would especially love her because no aggressive man could get past her. She'd get along with most of the professors, and she'd avoid or be very extremely diplomatic with those she wasn't. She'd be seen as weirdly well-connected and respected among the whole campus, and maybe partnering ones as well. if you want to be introduced to someone you've no connections with she'd who you go to.
But she'd only have a few truly close friends. Exactly as she likes it.
Silvaiarin
He'd absolutely go to another nation, or even a whole other continent, for his studies. He'd take the time to learn about the culture of his place of stay and explore the place until he knows it like his own home. Vaia would come to love the place as home and maybe even stay there for good. His sister predicted this, his parents did not.
His course would likely be a cultural/social science type and a double degree with whatever his interest is in at the time. If it's available it would be a part time study so he has more time to work and have fun about the place.
Myra
She works on prosthetics so she'd go to the best place with medicine/biotechnology/engineering and the like. She'd hyperfocus on it and delve very deeply into into the research circles, get permission for personal projects and try to get into practical programs, especially in rural areas. She'd be well known at the local bars and cafes (she does blow off steam sometimes)

if asked, in canon, how would your OCs respond to the question, “Are you interested in finding a romantic partner?
Verita: Not yet. I'll wait until these pricks (enemies with a fondness for starting on loved ones when killing) are sorted out (dead. very very dead.). Anyone looking for a relationship with me now is just asking to get killed. Wouldn't mind a few lovers though. Why? Are you looking? (teasing) she does get a partner though
Myra: Eh. I mean, I'm not saying no but I'm not really looking either. If it happens it happens
Lale & Silvaiarin: they just sorta look at you and hold up their matching wedding bands
If it's pre-marriage Lale would either get super flustered and try to escape or blather on about his darling until the asker wishes they could just poof away and never ask ever again. Silvaiarin would just smile at you and move the conversation on. He's not upset or nervous or hiding it or anything, he's just curious how you haven't noticed what he considers a pretty blatant relationship. He's looking forward to seeing how long it takes/how much you see until you get it. Basically, he's laughing at you but being polite about it.

Do your characters have any nicknames? Or nicknames that they've given others?
One of my OCs is a woman called Verita Raizel. Her nickname is Madame or The Madame and it is very widespread. So much so that she's given up on working out the whys or who started it or trying to stop/argue it and has gotten used to people just calling her Madame.
As for who started it and why she's called it, well, it's complicated. There were multiple reasons and starting points that all just kind of converged into the everywhere, everyone, everyday thing it is now.
Some people called her such because of previous occupations (sex worker/underground doctor/leader of her school ←not all at once), some did out of respect for her or her prestige (her work as a doctor, what she's done to help people, her selfmade escape from her terrible origins, her renown and connections in the underworld and society), some started it to mock her (she likes to take control of her own situations and occasionally goes overboard, i.e. gaining enough power to kick out unwanted employees at the educational facility she wound up in and replacing them with who she wants using her own recruitment process and changing the faciltiies procedures).
Some also just found it funny to call a woman from the dredges by such an uppity name. It doesn't help that she didn't have a name at first, so for a while the title was the only reliable way to refer to her.
A lot of people just wound up her calling Madame because everyone else did.
