Scorpion pose gets its name from the fact that the body is shaped like a scorpion's tail when it's poised to strike. The Sanskrit name for scorpion pose is vrschikasana. Scorpion pose is good for the body as it helps to strengthen the muscles of the core, back, arms and shoulders. It can also increase flexibility in the spine. Indrajit or Meghanada, according to Hindu texts, was a prince of Lanka and possessor of Indra Loka (Heaven).
