Author's Note: After a total of 8 years of posting fanfiction on this account, I am excited to announce that I am finally starting my first long-term original work as an author! Goal is to get this series published as an actual novel but until then, I will be uploading chapters online as I write them, hopefully building an audience in the process! Summary: In the land of Elsthess, brilliant but arrogant Dr. Immanuel Faust is doing his best to follow the teachings of the Goddess of Wisdom, live up to his late grandmother's expectations and hide the fact that he has been seeing strange, mystical apparitions all his life. When his pupil becomes afflicted with an ancient curse and the things he has seen turn out to be more than just hallucinations, Immanuel must forge a contract with Morgan, a being from another realm who's ready to humble him at every turn, and learn his religion's most despised art: magic. As he steps outside of the simple world he has grown up in, he slowly comes to realize that there is much more to learn for him still.

Here's some info on the three characters in the header, from left to right!

#1 — Dr. Immanuel Icarus Faust

❝ It wasn't supposed to be like this... I've failed... as both a doctor and a man of faith. I wanted to follow your teachings, dear Goddess, and guide those who seek wisdom and knowledge, as grandmother did... but I couldn't even save one innocent girl. Have I become godless? ❝

Raised by his grandmother, the High Priestess of Solbrynn's temple, Immanuel was taught from an early age on to aspire to be the best in everything he attempted to do and dedicate his life to wisdom, in order to make the Goddess Adira proud. Having become a renowned physician at the age of 28, Immanuel understands himself as his kingdom's ideal of a self-made man: a scholar who can achieve everything he puts his mind to, no matter the circumstances. As a result, he has put himself on a pedestal, believing that those who achieved less than him had all the chances and merely didn't use them. Fearing nothing more than failure and becoming anything like his absent, alcoholic father; Immanuel is bound for a rude awakening.

#2 — Morgan Miralaith

❝ While you were having your existential crisis in the mad scientist laboratory you call your bedroom, I took the liberty to read your grandmother's diary. The good news is, I finally understand where all the hubris comes from. ❝

Morgan, belonging to a long-lived species from the realm of Calliah, is the second-in-command for the Elsthess Resistance against the Plague Avatars. While the Resistance on Mhorunn regards her as a capable leader and a skilled fighter; using fire magic to blaze her way to victory; it is clear to most that she has many secrets and ulterior motives. She cares about others in her own way, yet hardly lets anyone close to her. With her mischievous demeanor and cynical nature, Morgan has made it her new mission to recruit Immanuel for the Resistance and, while at it, shatter his very distorted self-image and worldview. Upon forging a contract with her, Immanuel believes that he has sold his soul to a demon. It is only upon meeting others of her kind that he realizes that really is just her personality.

#3 — Mortis Grimm

❞ People reject that which is foreign to them. You of all people should know this. Still, my personal aspirations and origins are of no concern to you. Remember that. ❝

While there are several people from the Realm of Calliah in Elsthess, the realm that Mortis Grimm originated from is unknown. He seems to be the only one of his kind and there is something sinister about him. Wielding powerful magic that matches no other in recorded nature, Mortis, despite being the leader of the Resistance, is a big mystery to all of its members. Usually donning a Plague Doctor mask, Morgan is among the few to have seen his face. He is Mhorunn's greatest ally, but hardly a trusted one. Most understand that he could just as well become its greatest enemy one day.

hiii, i saw that you're working on a novel so i'm curious to know if there's any requirements before writing your own. i want to try it in the future too

Ah- I forgot to answer this! Honestly this is my first time writing one as well and there's no requirements for writing one but you should try to have an outline of your characters, your story and the themes you want to represent. As for publishing, there are many requirements that i myself haven't fully grasped yet but for now, when I'm able to drop the first few chapters of mine, I'll do it on Tumblr and Wattpad ^°^

We need more mean aces and aros. Love the kindness in the community but we're still trying too hard to appear likable to allos. Sometimes we need a little less "Hey I don't think you making allo AU's of canonically aspec characters and arguing whether demisexuals & aroallo men are LGBTQ+ is respectful to the ace community :(" and more "I hope a titan-sized raccoon takes a massive shit on your best boots".

Seeing people only use "but some asexuals have sex!!!" and "some aromantics are in romantic relationships!!!" so they can sexualize & ship the little representation we get makes me hope someone explicitly establishes a popular character as sex-repulsed so we can see the shippers get cooked online for it

People always catch me off-guard when they ask me what streaming services i use for my music, shows and movies. Sometimes I will say "none" and they're like "so you watch everything on TV then? Or just don't watch series and movies?" and I sit there pretending like i don't get all my stuff from gomovies.sx and y2mate

Important addition: It's perfectly fine when other aces do this because the character hasn't been confirmed to be sex-repulsed and they want to see themselves represented in an asexual character or if the person portraying the character in romantic / sexual scenarios is actually including their asexuality and touching upon what's different about these situations for an asexual character. But if it's just allos going "but some aces have sex! / some aros have romantic relationships!" for the sake of shipping, never mention the characters' asexuality ever again and then call it a day, it's ace erasure.

Update to my Baldur's Gate 3 experience: I cannot be alloace but I can be cringefail, which is a start. I bought garlic and threw it at Astarion. Kept reloading the auto save file because I only had 1 garlic and it had a 40% chance to hit. He said "stop it" and cried. Stepped in to break up a fight only to step out of the way last second when the NPC was about to die. Gale approved. Looted dead body into my inventory. Tried to throw dead body at Astarion but it didn't work. Stole a ring from a kid and threw it at Wyll. Hint was too subtle, he didn't get it. Spent all my coins on food to throw at companions. Still haven't committed a homicide but we'll get there.

There's actually a huge discourse(?) about twst otome thing last year on twitter and some otome players gave multiple reasons why twst would be even better if it's otome. They said it would focus more of each character and explore them in greater details.

That might be what it would look like to some people, but given Otome game track record there's a high chance they'd have to drastically reduce the size of the main cast. It'd be Yuu and like 4-7 of the boys but not all 21 of them. Also it always depends what aspects of the characters you focus on. We probably wouldn't get that much focus on the interpersonal relationships in the Diasomnia family if romance with MC would be the main aspect of the game and this is also a level of depth to characterization that we shouldn't dismiss. Ofc you could keep it as it is and just add a romance aspect but then it would not classify as an Otome game.

The sad reality is in any alternate reality where Twst is an Otome Game, it would not be a Disney game (which would already drastically alter the story given that it revolves around Disney villains) and in that case there's a high chance it would not stay as sfw as it is now and MC might not stay gender-neutral or might get a sprite or indicators of what they look like. The very definition of Otome Game involves it being targeted towards women. There's a lot of people who would not be affected by this and I feel like those are the ones advocating for Twst as an Otome Game. But I'd wager a lot of men in the fandom and trans, non-binary, ace and aro people would not take the gamble.

Twst as a Disney game with the set-up that it has now and a gender-neutral, faceless MC who has platonic relationships with the main cast allows for literally anyone to be Yuu regardless of age, gender, orientation, ethnicity or level of comfort towards romance and suggestive content, which makes for an inclusive gaming experience and a very diverse fandom that I would never trade for a romance aspect I can always explore in fanfiction.

"Twst should be an Otome Game!" if Twst was an Otome game a whole bunch of the queer community would likely be excluded from the target audience, all of the characters would have Deuce's hair in different colors and a mannequin face, they'd be tropes rather than people and there'd be only 4 of them:

Deuce (the childhood friend who's now a cop or detective or whatever, who has never moved on from you since you both were 4 years old on the playground which is fucking weird if you think about it)

Azul (stoic businessman who's soft inside and treats you like you're a damsel in distress and your decisions can't be trusted)

Cater (the quirky celebrity / influencer with Golden Retriever energy)

Malleus (the sussy red flag)

You'd be having a busy day and one of the characters accuses you of trying to run away from them and asks if they have to put you back in the cage and our tags would be flooded with white cishet women from booktok who think this the pinnacle of romance. The BGM would be elevator music from Barbieland.

Grim would have to listen to Yuu going KYA! and blushing and stumbling over their words every 5 minutes, do you really want to do this to him?

I love writing fanfiction in English and using cute pet names like "love" or "dear" or "darling" because there's just so many nice terms of endearment and I'm German. There is like, one German pet name that's actually cute and the rest you can come up with is the equivalent of walking into the office in an ahegao hoodie on a Monday morning and announcing to all your colleagues that your partner names your body parts after beloved Disney characters. I'm convinced that when you're German and you die and go to the 9th circle of hell, Satan personally hands you a "welcome home loser" leaflet that starts not with your name but with "Dear Knuddelbär" to make it abundantly clear just what kind of place you walked into and that you're never getting out. When I was 15 I had a boyfriend who called me Schnucki once and I had such a visceral reaction of discomfort that I could not take that person seriously from that day forward and broke up with him a week after. Back in my early days of fandom in the year of our lord 2013 someone in the Blue Exorcist fandom asked me "oh what are some cute German things you can call your partner, I tried googling but I don't know which of these I should use" and for a moment I wanted to delete this person's entire search history, unplug their wifi router and do a cleansing ritual for our poor mortal souls but eventually settled for "call them Schatz and roll with this throughout the entire work. Alternatively, use something in English."

Throwback to when i visited a church for the first time at 4yo & found the votive candles beautiful so my mum said i can light one for someone. "So who'd you light your candle for?", she asked with a gentle smile, expecting me to name a family member like her or my grandma. My response was "Simba from The Lion King".
