I go by Tux. Mixed. ADHD. She/Him. Obsessed with stories I’ve been reading since childhood, so talk to me about superhero comics and Rick Riordan’s books.
I’ll never forget the time I was sitting with this guy, nice kid, didn’t know him well, I think we must have had a bottle of wine or some questionable hashish or something, and in response to an awkward silence I just started talking and ended up going on a long meandering rant about how ugly American robins are. I’m talking a full monologue. I had an intro and conclusion. It was pointlessly vehement. I have never been so mean or loquacious about anything in my life.
Consider my horror when this perfectly nice guy wordlessly lifted his shirt to reveal a full-torso prismacolor tattoo of his spiritual soul animal, the American robin.
....just found out susan eisenberg aka the voice actress for dcau wonder woman is an ultra zionist. as if gal gadot & lynda carter weren't bad enough holy shit. all 3 famous wonder woman actresses are raging zionists.
minor pet peeve in the grand scheme of things but people saying ‘in the comics’ (with no other qualifiers) in reference to anything besides a version of main continuity kills me.
like if you’re making an addition on a post saying ‘look, this thing happened in the comics!’ and lo and behold the source is from an elseworlds or standalone out of continuity graphic novel or other sort of alternate universe… how do you not realize that that’s misleading?
saying ‘in the comics’ absolutely implies ‘in the (main continuity) comics’ not ‘in the (random au that will never be addressed outside of the book it is in) comics’
More stories from hell (retail) today I was ringing up this lady and she goes oh I want to do part of this on a gift card and the rest on normal card and I go ok and then she hands me a folded piece of paper. I think oh OK it must be folded around the gift card, right? Wrong. It is a folded sheet of 8×11 printer paper with "$40" written on the inside in ballpoint pen. I go what is this. She says a gift card. I say this is not a gift card. She says yes it is. I say this is a piece of paper with "$40" written on it. She says "well it's a gift card." I say it absolutely is not. I am grinding my teeth. She says well I want to use it. I say you physically cannot do that bc it is a piece of paper. I cannot scan or swipe it. I apologize, as if this is my fault, and not because she is completely insane. I hate it here
Another aspect of the Gaza Genocide that I want to talk about is the complicity of Internet banking and crowdfunding websites like GoFundMe.
I have seen multiple Gazans raise enough money to leave for Egypt, but the banks and the crowdfunding websites freeze their money or cancel their funds for "suspicious activity" or whatever. Every day that passes in Gaza supplies get more scarce, conditions get more deadly, and the price to cross into Egypt gets more expensive. I've seen people, like ghost-90 here on Tumblr, raise the full amount to get their entire family out of Gaza, but their money gets frozen for so long that the original goal is only a fraction of the price now needed to cross the boarder.
These financial institutions should not be allowed to get away with contributing to the death toll in Gaza. They are intentionally keeping people trapped in a kill zone by withholding money that is rightfully theirs.
I'm so pissed and angry that every avenue for relief for Palestinians is being cut of left and right. It is vile that Gazans are being extorted for 10s of thousands of dollars by the Egyptian gov just to save their family's lives, but even when they play by this corrupt game, the world still finds a way to make them suffer.
My heart is with every Palestinian for the rest of time, from river to sea you will all be free. 🇵🇸❤️
See my personal struggle with the X-Men is that while the basic premise (a group of mostly cishet white people being oppressed because they have a special gene that makes them better than everyone else) breaks down upon inspection unless you’re very careful (they’re not)…
There ends up being some REALLY nice character work accompanying the surface-level-and-sometimes-problematic comparisons to minority struggles in the real world.
In the words of Benoit Blanc:
Unfortunately the series about a master race being persecuted has characters ripe for being your new blorbo.
The final day of my art challenge! This was to redraw an old image. I'm so happy I got to do this challenge- hopefully I can do something like it again!!!
Wow wtf HIV/AIDS was discovered by Flossie Wong-Staal, an Chinese-American woman, and she’s the reason the HIV test even exists. AND THEN she invented the molecular knife that lead to treatments for HIV/AIDS. And she’s STILL ALIVE. We don’t hear about the contributions of Women of Color enough, my word. Madness.
