Seven easy ways I manage my money.

Money management can be quite daunting for many. Can't have enough of it, and not being able to keep it. There are several money management courses, hacks, and guides available online. All promising the same thing, how to manage your money! Yet, there are many broke people all over the world. Sometimes not for the lack of money, but the lack of control over their money. You see, there is no one-size-fits-all in money management, and it's up to every individual to manage their money in a way that works best for them. My strategy may not work for you and vice versa. I could be earning more than you do and have fewer responsibilities than you. However, there isn't anyone who will manage money effectively without having self-control, or what we would call discipline. You can never allow money to become your master because it will enslave you. At all times money has to remain under your management. This is what I do:
Money management tips
I spend less than I earn.
I know the exact amount of expenditure my budget can accommodate. So, I try to keep them at a minimum.
I don't create unnecessary debts that will cause more stress in my pocket.
I keep up to date with my bills, payments in full, on or before the due dates.
I prepare my own home-cooked meals as opposed to dining out, often.
I avoid habits that will drastically reduce my money, drinking, smoking, partying, shopping spree, etc.
I don't waste my money on the latest trends.
I live within my means.
I don't allow my yearnings to control my earnings.
Below I'll share seven easy ways in which I manage my money.

1. I only buy things I know I need, even if they are on sale.
My credit card is always at my disposal having a higher balance than my debit cards. However, I don't abuse the privilege to buy now and pay later. I always remember that my credit card balance is a loan and everything that comes off it has to be repaid. It isn't an allowance, a grant, or a stipend. It's a loan from my bank, it's really their money! With this in mind, I monitor all my credit card purchases. I'm not enticed by items that I see on sale. I will only buy things that I know I need, and not what I think I need.
2. I never pay late fees on any of my bills.
I avoid paying late fees at all costs. I will never give a service provider more than I have to. Unless it is a situation beyond my control. A late fee is an excess charge on my budget. I can't afford to throw away my hard earn money on something that I have the power to control.
3. I don't settle for low-quality products.
Going cheap isn't always beneficial. Over time, it may cost you more than you bargained for. I have no problem paying for durability and great quality. In the end, I will save more for purchasing a better quality product that can last longer, over a cheaper version that has to be replaced periodically.
4. I don't defy my budget.
As a rule of thumb, I calculate my budget at least a week before payday. All the monies are allocated to their respective places, and my budget is final. At the arrival of payday, I'm cognizant of the amount that I should and shouldn't spend, and I act accordingly. Another thing I watch closely is impulsive buying. It will seriously ruin your budget. When I'm out shopping, I take a list with me, and I also try to under-spend as much as I can. Don't be alarmed by those crazy deals you see, when you are on a budget. You might end up buying items you don't need. Unless there is an emergency, my budget will remain as is.
5. I make bulk purchases on non-perishable items.
It's prudent to buy in bulk. Although, many persons can only afford small purchases, which is quite understandable. It will cost you more if you make weekly trips to the supermarket. Providing that members of your household are resourceful. You'll save more on bulk purchases. You'll also enjoy the benefits of great discounts that aren't available on single purchases. Always remember to watch the shelf life of your goods. You wouldn't want to be wasting money on items that you aren't able to use by a certain time.
6. I keep an emergency funds account.
Life happens! At any time an emergency could arise. In as much as I earn, I keep something aside. If it doesn't benefit me, then another family member should be able to benefit.
7. I don't make it a habit to lend excess money from my savings.
They say money separates the best of friends. I take my money seriously. I avoid lending large sums of money from my savings. There are many family members and friends that are guilty of not repaying the money they've borrowed. I don't have a problem giving money from my cash in hand. I'm just not into withdrawing excess amounts from my savings to lend anyone.
In summary, I didn't do all this overnight. In fact, ten years ago, I was nowhere close to managing my money or speaking like this. I mismanaged a lot of my earnings. It takes practice and self-discipline to spend your money wisely. It's important for you to do your own self-assessment with each dollar you earn and choose the most effective way(s) to manage your money.

How to find your purpose in life.

What a tragedy to have life and not know what to do with it? I heard once that the richest place on earth is the cemetery.  It might sound ridiculous, but if you analyze it it's true. The grave has many talents that are no longer in use, and many that were never used throughout their time on earth. What is your purpose in life?  Every man both rich and poor must answer this question. They must know their purpose in life. When this life is over will your purpose be numbered among those who did nothing with their lives or those who died empty? There isn't anyone on earth who was created to have a life without meaning, but our lives will appear meaningless without us knowing our purpose in life.
You wonder why so many persons are just okay with the way that their lives are. You wonder why so many persons are okay with doing nothing valuable with the time that they are given each day. You wonder why so many persons have yet to find motivation in what they are currently doing or even find fulfillment after years of serving a job that they're about to retire from. It's because they haven't found their purpose. It's because they haven't been serving their purpose. That's why life appears meaningless and with all that they have acquired it amounts to nothing.
How do you find your purpose in life?
Let me begin by saying that your purpose is already within you. It isn't something that you're taught in school. It's not up to the education system to determine your purpose in life. You go to school to refine your calling, not to find it! No teacher can determine your purpose in life with an ability test. Your potential is far greater than an examination paper and a test score. Many of you are still heartbroken from that test you failed years ago. You still haven't left the classroom. You've buried your purpose in an F you've gotten years ago because you were taught that education is the key to success, and you feel like a total failure because you have been performing below average throughout your school life.  It isn't an F on your final exams that determines that you serve no purpose in life.
I know that many of you are still stuck with the examination results that you've received years ago. You haven't gotten over the disappointment on your parents' faces when you told them that you didn't pass the final exams. I know many of you are still feeling like a failure because you believe you've wasted all the money your parents have invested in you. What if I told you that it isn't up to your parents to determine your purpose in life. I remember my cousin wanted to study Journalism in college but her mom wanted her to become a teacher. So many of us can relate to our parents interfering in our career choices. Have you ever wondered why so many persons hate the job that they are doing? Have you ever wondered why so many persons are stressed to their wit ends on their jobs? It's because they don't belong there. It's because they aren't serving their purpose. Until you begin to serve your purpose in life, you'll be unfulfilled in everything else that you spend your time doing.
Your purpose in life is something that brings out the best in you. It brings you joy. It brings you peace. It brings you fulfillment. It makes you happy. It makes you want to get up out of bed every morning. It's something that you can picture yourself doing for the rest of your life, even if it doesn't make you rich.  What is it that you enjoy doing? Is it singing, painting, dancing, taking care of the elderly, taking care of the sick, encouraging others, making people laugh, taking care of the animals, taking care of the environment, etc? What was your childhood dream? When you were younger what is it that you wanted to become in life? What is it that you had so much joy in doing that you completely lost track of time? Did anyone tell you to forget about it? Did anyone tell you that it couldn't happen? Did anyone tell you to get that nonsense out of your head?
The key to your purpose is right there. Maybe you've had to take singing lessons in secret. Maybe you've had to attend football, baseball, basketball practice, etc., in secret. Maybe you've had to attend dance practice in secret. Maybe you've had to do some painting, acting, etc. in secret because someone told you that you'd never pursue that calling as long as they are around. Someone gave you all the reasons why you shouldn't become what you know you so badly wanted to be and they buried your purpose.
You weren't created to roam the earth. You weren't created to waste your life away on alcohol, drugs, smoking, partying, etc. It's time to serve your purpose in life. Your purpose has nothing to do with your race, color, class, or creed. I grew up in a poor farming community in Jamaica. Today, I'm impacting people all over the world. Poverty is not an excuse for you not to fulfill your purpose. Your educational background isn't an excuse for you not to fulfill your purpose in life. The pigmentation of your skin has nothing to do with your purpose. Your physical appearance has nothing to do with your purpose.  Don't put God to shame. He'll supply all your needs. You weren't created to be an ornament on earth. No, it doesn't matter if you are sleeping in a palace or a hut.
God didn't invest His time and energy in you for no reason. He could have chosen anyone else from the millions of sperm but he chose you. Your purpose will make room for you in this world. Don't worry about you not becoming rich. Serve your purpose well and people will pay for what you have. They don't want you they want your gift. People don't visit my blog to see my profile picture. They come here for inspiration. Their primary interest is my gift. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and all the great singers that you can think of, their concerts weren't sold out because people wanted to see them. People are interested in their gifts, powerful singing that gives them goosebumps even to this day.
How do you want to be remembered when you die? What legacy will you give this world and the generations to come? Your purpose is valuable. That's why every one of us on earth was created with a purpose. The world needs what we have to offer. Unearth your purpose now! You don't need to be doing a million things because if you're doing a million things and not doing the right thing then you are doing nothing. Do that which is right and focus on it. If you believe with all your heart that cooking, singing, dancing, painting, coaching, preaching, teaching, etc. is what you want to do, then accept your true calling. Never allow anyone to tell you what they think that you should be doing. It's good when people can see potential in you, but it makes no sense to dedicate your life to something that you have no interest in doing because someone believes that you'll excel there. How to find more contentment in your life.

Contentment doesn’t mean that you should eliminate your ambitions, settle for less than you deserve, or remain satisfied with your life in a dormant state. Nothing is wrong with pursuing your dreams and wanting better for yourself. However, in your quest for better, you should always remember anything that costs your
peace of mind
is too costly.
1. Be thankful for everything.
One of the most profound biblical statements that I’ve read is from the Apostle Paul. “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:11-13. Many of us are longing for contentment in our lives. Being grateful is a great way to start. Try to find at least one thing that enriches your life; do this daily, and you’ll see the difference that it makes in your life.
You’ll be happier.
You’ll take nothing for granted.
You’ll start appreciating all that you have.
You’ll feel less stressed.
I remember how much I hated the house we had inherited. I would complain about how much I needed a new house.  The more my complaints grew the more uncomfortable I got. I became even more stressed, knowing I couldn’t afford to purchase a house.  As time went on, I began to ponder on these things. There are many homeless people around the world. We aren’t paying rent, mortgage, or lease. We’ve never gotten an eviction notice, etc. The more reasons I found to be grateful, the lesser my complaints grew. Murmuring centers our thoughts on all that we think we don’t have. Gratitude reminds us of all we have been blessed with; whether great or small.
2. Live your life as an experience.
Life is an amazing gift. It’s meant to be remarkable. It’s meant to be treasured. It’s meant to be lived to the fullest. Too often, we bury our lives in regrets; chained by the circumstances of our past. Many say their life would have been better if they had done this or that. The truth is, we all make mistakes. We can’t undo what’s already done. There are many things that I should have done differently, but if I had done them, I wouldn’t have known this version of me. Without the test, you can’t have a testimony.  I would not have known how much resilience I had within me if I didn’t go through certain struggles in my life.
Some paths, no matter how treacherous, were meant for us to embark. I choose to learn from all my experiences. Good, bad, and ugly. I collect the lessons and use them as stepping stones to shape my future. If you keep harboring regrets, you’ll never close the chapters of your past. Stay in the present and live your life as an experience. If it’s good, treasure the memories. If it’s bad learn from that experience and move on with your life.

3. Live your life on purpose.
It’s okay if no one believes in what you’re doing. What matters most is that you believe in yourself. Don’t be afraid to start something new. Don’t allow people to pressure you with their timelines. Why aren’t you married as yet? It’s time for you to have children. You’re too old to go back to school. What were you doing all these years?  If you choose not to marry, have children, or go back to school later, it’s your choice. Whatever decision you’re making in your life ensure that it is something that you want to do. Stand behind your choices. You have one life to live, and no one else can live it for you.
4. Avoid making your life complicated.
Don’t create problems where there aren’t any. If it isn’t broken, don’t try to fix it. Know what your limitations are. Some things are beyond your control, and there isn’t anything that you can do about them. Embrace changes as they come. Overthinking will only add more sadness to your life. Live one day at a time.
5. Don’t live to impress others.
There’s no shame in repeating your clothes, not having name brands, preparing home-cooked meals, riding public transportation, or not being able to afford something at the moment. Live the life that you know you can afford. Look at your pocket, not the latest trends! Don’t accumulate unnecessary debt to impress anyone. The creditors will be calling you, not them.
6. Detach yourself from people and things that make you unhappy.
Always hold the key to your happiness. Never depend on anything or anyone other than yourself to make you happy. Your happiness should always be a priority.  Anyone that has your best interest at heart would want to see you happy. Make no apologies to cut negative energy and toxic people from your life. It’s not about hating them. It’s about doing what’s right for you.
7. Don’t envy or compare yourself to others.
Be genuinely happy for others when they are excelling. You don’t need to be acquainted with someone to wish them well. Celebrate their victories and encourage them to keep up the good work. There’s no harm in meaning someone well. Envy breeds hatred, even for those who mean you no harm. You don’t need to envy anyone because they’re doing better than you. Your time will come!
Focus more on your unique abilities. Pay attention to the things that you are good at doing. Those that you aren’t too good at doing, work on those.  Comparison will destroy your peace of mind. It will stress you out! Someone will always have what you think you’re missing. You can’t be anyone other than yourself. Never compare your life to anyone else’s.
Always be yourself.
