Can someone who is well-versed in Witcher lore confirm or deny whether Geralt has albinism? He is listed on the wiki page for characters with albinsim, but seeing as every character with albinism that I know of isnt included, I dont trust the list very much…

#the wiki says that experimental mutagens caused geralt to lose all of his body pigmentation #but is this process more similar to a character whose hair goes gray under stress than someone with albinism?#i mean youre born with albinism so having it be the result of experiments later in life is highly unrealistic #but this is a fantasy series we are talking about so i accept that logic works a bit differently #but im tired of seeing characters “with albinism” who only have the appearance of a PWA #while things like vision issues and light sensitivity are completely ignored #i never wouldve guessed that geralt has albinism tbh #probably because of his yellow eyes #i just thought that he had a fantasy characters color scheme with wolf like features and whatnot #but if hes actually a PWA then i would consider reading the books #i am so starved for (good) albinism representation #bunny babbles #geralt of rivia #the witcher #albinism

2 it's not "derailing" to talk about experiencing the exact same type of oppression for the exact same reasons. like, this is tagged transandrophobia. y'know, the word coined to talk about oppression UNIQUE TO or MORE TYPICALLY EXPERIENCED by trans men and mascs? Like I know we're all super sensitive to "it's just transphobia" because bad faith actors use it to shut us up about our own oppression, but even if transandrophobia is ANY transphobia experienced by transmascs, this one is SO not unique and SO universal that calling other trans people "derailing" for daring to acknowledge they experience it is honestly transphobic itself

3. Are you being transmisogynistic or exorsexist it both? Do you find it offensive that a group even more erased than transmascs (trans people who are neither transfem nor transmasc) might "take the spotlight" by experiencing the same pain as you? Are you just mad that transfems suffer from hypervisibility (a key factor in transmisogyny, no less) that you're wrongly viewing as some sort of privilege?

Like this is the logical end conclusion of exclusion, separatism, and the idea that it's immoral or even just dickish to talk about SHARED experiences of oppression. Even those who aren't convinced that there's no overlap and oppression fits into neat little boxes based on your actual identity (and that people with multiple identities experience each oppression as discrete separate forms of violence OR a new unique form of oppression that no one else ever does) are like "I have the right to shut people out of a discussion of their own pain and trauma just because *I* experienced it for THIS reason

Like, I draw the line at someone saying anything more exclusionary than "oh I didn't name all groups that experience this because this was a more personal vent post, but please share your experiences because this isn't exclusive to us".

Idk I can't even articulate what's so gross and off-putting about this. But whatever, this intersex transneufemmasc is making their own post so they aren't (implied) transandrophobic by, idk, being transmasc but also other things and experiencing this same thing based on those other identities, or acknowledging that those other identities share these experiences in the absence of transmasculinity.

Also, nontransmasculine/non-trans-men experience transandrophobia, you fucking asshole. Transneutral, abinary/atrinary, neutrois, maverique, and other trans people that are seen as transmasc by bigots experience no material differences in the oppression they face. Their experiences are almost identical to yours - except they have to either be misgendered to be acknowledged or get erased. What functional difference do you think there is between an afab person pursuing what you forcibly label a "masculine" transition facing this exact shit, and you, other than that they respect your gender and you don't return the favor. Or you do, only to shut them out of a conversation that they have less of a voice in than you do.

hickeygibson euthanasia posting hours

thinking about the hickeygibson euthanasia scene, or more like superimposing my own feelings onto it. not to put my hickeyposter street cred on the line like this but this is what i delusionally think its all about.

the take that its all about the pragmatism is just so meh to me. that hickey really just stabbed billy out of necessity and he's the one worst for wear out of all of them or that this euthanasia scene is just a perversion of the fitzier one. this one is Wrong while the other is Noble (they are just as noble as each other, yall girlies just don't like his form and manner in having done it :pp)

he saw billy suffering and wanted to put him out of that misery before he could fully sink into that debility and pain. and like fair, coming from them two its as much an expression of love as he can provide (we can now be sad about the sparseness of love, it was there but these conditions have whetted it into a weapon, ok) but the take that it was about love doesn't have enough grit to me either, like yeah thats them but i don't think thats how they operate.

idk TO ME that whole exchange is like. if hickey could reasonably believe that billy wasn't as worse for wear as he was. like if there was some measure of life (not just lumbering around camp) then i don't think he'd have stabbed him. they were gonna make it out together, not traipsing away to some tropical island, no. but they were gonna be together even with hickey's delusions of grandeur. like to some extent, billy IS hickey's creature, or wife, (or whatever u guys want) there is some measure of culpability there, a sense of responsibility for the deterioration they've reached

so there's this aspect of being culpable and guilt, whether he is forgiven by the other or not. its about whether he still looks at you with affection or is it vacant and long-suffering. the pivotal point is, if its a look of long-suffering then, yeah he'll shank the wifey. but if its a look with recognition, then no, he won't be shanked since having recognition means that billy's still attached to hickey. and i don't see hickey as the type to hand off recuperating/caring for billy to another person. like its definitely not bc he wants to do it himself, but i think it'd be sickening for him to have a person he liked turn to another figure for such comforts, like seeking that elsewhere IS a kind of betrayal to him. that's what the stabbing is TO ME, some kind of fucked up apology for letting billy wear himself out that much. since hickey's the one who put billy in this state, he's the only person allowed to absolve/extricate him from that pain.

yeah i hear you, billy is in a state of disarray, feed him more broth or something. isn't that the obvious loving response to your partner deteriorating?

i think a lot of it hinges on whether or not hickey perceives that billy accepted his proffered comfort, like yes the logical thing is to be tender (and he IS, like that bit was so tender) but what if he looks at you with emptiness, like what if the wifey is too far gone in his debility, what then. what if the tenderness/benefaction hickey is proffering is turned away. so your partner has just shown you that they aren't dying for the comfort ur offering and isn't that a damn betrayal (and by betrayal i mean like hickey makes the biggest slights out of nothing, be forreal) that betrayal is a catalyst for the shanking, more than love or practicality, its about the fear that they don't really need u at all, not when they're this far gone and deteriorated. and any future attempts at recuperation would similarly be too far gone to be fully appreciated. that betrayal riles him up enough to do this. like if billy smiled or any bit of recognition, i just know he wouldn't have been shanking him but since he's looking so sad n dejected that means he's not absolved (this isn't something that'll just come to pass, so he's compelled to shank)

like i don't mean this in that hickey is inherently manipulative, honestly i mean this in a pathetic "i kinda cant let u seek this from anyone else, bc it would render me impotent, and being confronted by my own impotency is driving me crazy". like oh it definitely was still about love and all that putting him out of his misery, but its a secret third flavor of attachment TO ME.

What is the meaning of life? Also, whats ur favorite thing to cook

My geniune take on the meaning of life is finding joy in your own existance, doesn't have to be anything groundbreaking or big but finding comfort in hobbies/creation/indulging in your little interests in the moment is what gives your own life purpose. At least to me, there's no logical cosmic purpose or goal for our existence, we're literally just here because of the drive to survive as a species, which itself is a neutral fact that doesn't mean much, so grand gestures aren't all that valuable or important as long as you find a comfort in being.

My fav thing to cook is pasta :] I'm not much of a cook in general, and pasta making is literally just boiling water and adding salt, but my comfort food is pasta so I have to make a pot for myself twice a week and I've perfected the texture in a way I'm really proud of.

#idk if this counts as pessimisim or whatever but I guess i tend to observe things more logically and scientifically #at least in the grander scheme #so i consider the objectivity of our existence just to be #were here because for whatever reason species have a drive to multiply #even thoufh that in itself doesnt mean anything or make much sense to me #but anyway that just means that. to me you have to find your own comofrt and purpose in existing #the njce thing about believing that theres no inherent purpose to existance is that you can make it yourself #yknow #dunno how heavy it is but i have thought of it

It's really simple tbh? Basically people have this assumption that if they've never opened up to you, you can't ever know their "true face." They assume that the face that they show to the world is heavily divorced from their true self. Sure doesn't help when they act differently around different people, blah blah blah. To them, their masks are lies and their heart is truth. To be honest, I'm not sure I understand why these people think this way. Are not the different faces a person wears just different facets of their personality?

Regardless, I think because people operate under the assumption that the masks they show to the world aren't their true self, they assume they can't ever be known without their consent. It's a really ridiculous assumption tbh. It'd take a lot of conscious planning and decisions to truly create a persona that is completely unlike yourself. Like you'd literally have to be insane to do that.

In reality, people do not think much before making majority of their day to day decisions. Must you play a mental chess match to decide whether or not to greet your coworkers? Do you make conscious decisions to purchase food you dislike so nobody will know what you actually like? Do you have to physically and consciously move the muscles in your face to form a smile or a frown for every interaction? If these things do not take much conscious thought, then are you not acting true to your "true self?"

Then think about the things you consciously do or don't do. If someone disagrees with you but you don't argue back, does that not say something? If you tell jokes at work to get people to laugh, does that not reveal things? Even if these actions are not a part of your "true self," does not the fact you simply did them tell something about you?

This is just talking about actions. This doesn't even go into reactions. People assume that they are the best actors and can fool the world, but they are just fooling themselves. Initial reactions are hard to hide. True happiness and excitement is hard to fake. Feigned interest is quite easy to see. Stress, anger, and hurt are hard to gloss over. Are not emotions and the reasons for them very revealing for true selves?

And kinda going into my other post, you work from there. [Observation + observation] = intuitive observation. [Intuitive observation + intuitive observation] = mid-tier observation. Etc.

In my personal opinion, while intuitive observations are where the meat of everything is, that doesn't make simple observations less... intimate. For example, you observe a person doesn't eat many vegetables. You can rightfully assume they don't like vegetables. The very fact you noticed this means that you were paying attention to them. You know something about their true self.

I guess they would also have instances of people saying they did just get out of it after a year too but. well may #be if that happens you have amnesia. which wouldn’t work for this book. but anyway)#idk #also him hating his mum made me cringe because that was Obvious. i feel like a little more time could have been spent on that #and like i did enjoy it overall for the majority of it that wasn't the romantic thing! it could have been so good if it removed that #and gave everything else its full focus

Crazy to me that people want to cast sorceries in Elden Ring without the staff. You simply do not have a wizard's temperament.

#me vs elden ring #don't get me wrong the diversity of casting methods with incantations is really cool #and I get *why* it's more exciting. Love the dragon incants love the frenzy stuff. More meh on a lot of the lightning #but I get why that's cooler to a lot of folks. There's a lot more *weight* to incantations. But there should be!#Incantations are a prayer made real. A miracle. A manifestation of devotion to a higher power and having that devotion answered #I mean sure sorceries could use a bit more diversity in their casting methods. I guess.#but I say that and I think we should get fancier wand work or something.#do you really want to move your hand back and forth to do glintstone pebble? Idk it just doesn't appeal to me.#Now what we *could* use is some melee casting weapons or more viable attacks for staves like the spinning weapon on the Regal Scepter #the carian sword sorceries do a lot to make the staff more active and I quite like how it is #it's fitting to me that sorcery is more basic and direct and that there are similar iterations of the same basic concepts #because it is a studied/created discipline.#and I guess bloodborne did star magic with very unique casting methods and animations but that's also like.#Idk in bloodborne it's really closer to incantations because you're tapping into a higher power you can barely understand #not casting a spell but *making* the objects you're using do what they do and barely able to control it #sorcerers in dark souls and elden ring *are* the masters studying and channeling the cosmos with control #explicitly in ways that *are* defined and understood while incantations don't necessarily need logic or explanation.#anyway I will always be a staff lover #actually quite liked using wands in demon's souls

I don't know how to say "my gender is something nonhuman and not able to be comprehended while adhering to our current society's standards of what men and women are supposed to be, never mind the fact that my preferred form is not a human body at all" without the other person being concerned...

#It goes beyond furry really i just don't feel like I'm human at all. I never really have #And i don't mean not a person although when I'm very depressed or the PTSD is hitting i get that too #I mean a non human person. But people either think I'm severely ill or joking when I say that and i unfortunately(?) am not #It's not even like I'm kin of a media species or person or whatever. I just don't see myself as human but i could draw it #I don't know how to put it into words. It sort of shapeshifts. But its core is the same #But either way when i look at myself in pictures or the mirror i don't recognize it as being me. I know it is logically but #It feels like I'm inhabiting a body that isn't mine. Like I'm in a costume or playing a game #Its kind of distressing sometimes but I've basically learned to live with the feeling. I probably will never own my body and idk #It's fine i guess. I don't know what it's like to be comfortable in your body or love it or whatever. I don't know if i ever will #And I've kind of given up hope on that changing. All i can do is pretend it doesn't bother me and keep going #Although i guess that's my outlook on.. everything lol #Whats the opposite of learned helplessness.. saying it's self reliance sounds too good.. it's more like learned lack of trust

The parallel of Khan and Vlad jr both spending the duration of the game living away from their fathers in little hide-outs is so funny. Khan is a child unfairly expected to take on the burden of his adult family’s needs (ALSO in p1 he is shown to have been living in maria’s wing/Nina’s former which is SUPER interesting because Nina died YEARS ago and I think that demonstrates a really interesting separation and level of emotional neglect between Khan and his father and remaining uncle)

Meanwhile Vlad jr is enabled by his status + Vlad sr’s hands-off approach to family management (extremely funny that he both knows about and doesn’t care about Capella’s child mafia. She started this herself and he’s completely happy to let her do as she wants especially as it doesn’t directly involve or impede him or his business) to perpetually act like a child, his relationship with his sister is awful because he can’t take responsibility for his own emotional needs and won’t stop himself from upsetting or boring her by ranting about his trauma with the dead mother she barely knew or talking about something she doesn’t know or care anything about. He arrogantly prods too far into his kin studies without regard for the consequences and then hides from them in a “secret” clubhouse that seemingly everyone knows about.

YEAH it's such a hilarious parallel honestly and i am... kind of disappointed now that i've played both pathologic classic hd and pathologic 2 that they changed the kain and olgimsky family dynamics around so much? i don't actually have anything particularly intelligent to say here just that you're right (and also capella's child mafia is such a funny way to phrase it).
