I read the comics and rant about them so that you don't have to!

First of all, I gotta say that I absolutely LOVE your fic. I read the first chapter and just... didn't stop reading lol. It was so compelling and the way you describe emotions and depict Leo's mental state is so good!!!! I can't get enough of it. I love how you write his manic thought process and the way that his thoughts jump around in a very 'word association' type way! (That's super accurate to manic episodes!) I also really like the way that his awareness ebbs and flows and how you are able to indicate that to the reader while also maintaining the narrative. For real, kudos to you, that's a super difficult thing to do and you've pulled it off so well! It's absolutely stunning!
Question (and feel free not to answer if this is a spoiler or if you aren't sure), did Leo age in the Prison Dimension? Cause obviously the five years was FIVE YEARS, he didn't just time skip or anything, and he's definitely five years older mentally (for better or for worse, poor guy) but if the Prison Dimension essentially 'stops' bodily functions like hunger, thirst, exhaustion and.. dying, was his aging paused as well?
I'm low-key dying over the idea of Leo still being a kid physically. Like, the mental image of his brothers coming face-to-face with a visibly teenaged Leo who is more scar tissue than skin, it's just, ugghhgg. It's one thing to know 'oh he was a kid, he shouldn't have had to deal with this. He shouldn't have had to have been in that position, this is all so fucked up' but it's another thing entirely to see it, y'know?
Anyway, again feel free to ignore the question if it's spoiler territory or completely off the mark or if you don't have the spoons to answer. I mainly just wanted to say that I'm obsessed with your fic and it has me completely unhinged (pos). Was literally sobbing at 3AM while reading it. 10/10. Would recommend.
(also how the fuck do you write Leo so scary and threatening and yet also so adorable and charming and 'wet meow-meow stuck in the rain'. I'm frothing at the mouth wtf. The whiplash of being all 'oh no he's gonna kill- oh he's purring now, he's baby' is so fantastic holy shit)
THANK YOU THAT'S SO NICE WAAAAAAH 😭😭😭 i'm so glad people seem to enjoy it because i can always go a little TOO in depth at times and i hope it's never like, too boring or repetitious
and yes, Leo did age!! while the idea of Leo being a time capsule of his teenage self but now so warped is DELICIOUS... I love the idea he aged for several reasons. It was one (or maybe the only) way Leo knew time was passing for him-- which adds to the mental strain of knowing he was stuck there. Forever. And the emotional damage it would inflict on his family because it makes it just more transparent and painful how much time had passed. How long they left Leo there. As well as prove the point that time in the Prison Dimension passed at the same rate as it did on Earth.
Plus, I feel like there's another, dark, angsty edge to it that I couldn't resist. I feel like when the Prison Dimension was made, the primary goal was to trap the Krang for eternity. Whether intentional or not, the Mystic Warriors had practically made a place you could age. Where you can get hungry. Where you can get thirsty. Where you have to face all those painful needs of the body you just can't satisfy... But you just couldn't escape it. Ever.
That might make it a bit TOO dark to think about, but ultimately I just loved the idea of the brothers seeing Leo older like them and knowing that they had left him behind for so long. (toot-toot all aboard the angst train)
but omg i'm so glad you like it 😭 thank you for the ask it was super sweet 🩵
I mean, this is literally just what happened when Sandra Lynn and Garthy O'Brien hooked up though, right? Riz was banging on their door (iirc, I'm pretty sure he was on ALL the drugs and freshly tatted) muttering about the Night Yorb while Kristen danced in the background.
I do like the idea of sex-repulsed Riz, but I find the idea of him not caring at all to be so funny.
Like he walks in on one of his friends making out with someone and, completely unfazed, he's just like: "Stop kissing I need to talk to you about something."
In D20, the Genasii race are descendants of giants. Porter is an earth Genasii. He also has the ancestor oath thing as his cleric oath, which means that he draws power from giants and/or an ancient giant god.
Fig saw that Porter and her Warlock teacher have a 'thing' going on. The Warlock teacher is dating a celestial (could be a retired God), and that's where she gets her power from. Her and Porter tried to convince Fig to draw power from rage (aka, Cassandra's spouse). Porter is ALL ABOUT rage.
To recap:
There are four Giant gods that we know of. Lucy's god (Winter, snow, deriving warmth from love, maybe water given her name?), Cassandra's spouse (Summer, sun and, while corrupted, fire and rage), and the unnamed Spring and Fall giant gods that the Bad Kids researched.
I'm going to take a leap here and say that Porter might be a Celestial? The one that the Warlock prof is dating? Or at least he's working for them.
To be completely honest guys? Porter is the big bad. The one who used the Spies Tongue Curse on Kalina. The one who blew up Lydia's house. Hell, he was the one who infected Raugh in the first place, by healing him when he wasn't even hurt. We know Porter had Kalina cooties, we know he chased down Raugh to infect him, we know he helped Adaine's mom steal the Nightmare King's crown on prom night and we know that he's been working his ass off to make Fig and Gorgug angry.
And he's an EARTH Genasii??? And the soil is being corrupted??? Guys, who wants to bet that the giant god of spring (the time of year when things GROW FROM THE EARTH) has an earth domain?????
Maybe I'm Night Yorbing but guys I think I cracked it and guess what? FIG CALLED IT FROM DAY FUCKING ONE.
'Baron From the Baronies' means that their name is Baron and they came from the Baronies.
'Baron OF the Baronies' means that their royal appointed title is Baron and that they are in charge of the Baronies, with the implication that they are maintaining and upkeeping the land/place for the higher power who gave them the Baron title.
The implications are a lot more sinister in the second one and also, cause Baron is a title that can be gifted from royalty to a commoner, it's not necessarily a retcon. It just means that Baron got promoted.
Also, high-key, Baron speaking about their 'stark father'? That's Nightmare King-ified Cassandra, right? Cassandra made Baron, Cassandra gets corrupted again, Baron comes back and lore dumps to them about Cassandra's situation.
Plus, Riz accidentally broke one of Cassandra's mirrors, mirrors that were sent to protect Kristen's friends, which is what summoned Baron. Which is why Baron was screaming 'which side are you on?!' to Riz. Cassandra was pissed that Riz was messing with her protection spell. Also, that's why I think Baron immediately went to Kristen after scaring Riz, Baron is Cassandra's little fucked up mouthpiece.
(also also, high-key think Kalina couldn't say Lydia's name cause of Spies Tongue, so she said Lydia's sons name instead to point them in the right direction, hence why Cassandra was thinking about the curse. Baron may have gotten a promotion because they didn't make the deal/have the curse and thus might be able to say more? Idk, it's a working theory)
(also also also, poor Cassandra with her fucked up family. Her and her rage demon spouse, their little Victorian ghost child spawn, their STD cat, a cult leader brother, a corn obsessed 'bro' nephew and a cult leader sister. Rip girl, at least your sister-in-law seems chill? Pun intended)
I just realized they changed Baron’s name from Baron From the Baronies to Baron of the Baronies and why. Why did they change it to that, I’m not saying this as a negative thing I do genuinely want to know.
Hey, I think the new Power Girl and Wonder Woman variant covers might be AI
look, I’m no artist, but I think I’m pretty decent at spotting AI “art” when I come across it. There’s usually just this weird look about it that causes me to raise a metaphorical eyebrow, and if I look closer, I can find the inconsistencies in it a real artist wouldn’t make.
Both of these variants were made by Daxiong, I’m not familiar with their artwork and tried looking them up and their usual style is very different than what they had this time around.
Let’s start with the Power Girl cover:
At first glance it looks fine, but if you look closer you can spot the inconsistencies
There are these weird ribbons? or hair? just popping up from her head and belt that kind of connect but are just confusing to look at
The belt itself is very inconsistent
The hair ends differently in places compared to the rest of it
There are lines in weird places
And for the Wonder Woman cover, I admit, I don’t think I spotted as many, but there are still areas where it looks weird
The lines on her “W” belt are inconsistent
The lines on her armband/gauntlet thing are all over the place with no coherence
And the symbols on her shield don’t really look like anything and they just fade away
Like I said, I’m no artist, but this looks like the work of AI to me.
I hope I’m wrong, I don’t want to see people using AI “art” at all, let alone professionals in the comics industry. But if this is actually AI, I don’t think people should buy these covers if the “artist” didn’t even think it was worth their time to actually put effort in and make them.
WALLY IS A REAL ONE.
"I have seen this movie and I AM NOT FALLING FOR THAT, BYE." he says and just speed-runs Frodo's journey from The Lord of the Rings. Incredible.
you are a student at the aguefort adventuring academy. one day you go to a musical festival held at one of your school’s token rock star’s house. the interim emergency backup principal attacks. the dildo machines attack. a party of juniors fights them and wins. they are sent to the vulture dimension. they return. the guy whose house the festival is at mocks a federal agent. an arch devil summons two vultures with neither reason nor prior warning and the richest, most popular boy of the school shoots one of them out of the sky with his crossbow and eats its organs with enthusiasm. it will help him to Talk to The Rats in The Forest, he gleefully explains. the (bad) kids leave. the dildo-wielding nun is nowhere to be found. the interim backup emergency principal grix is dead. it’s been five minutes.
Billy: So there's a speedster, a witch, a robot, a covert ops soldier turned physicist, and a psychic-
Tommy: Is this the start of a bad joke?
Viv: I believe that that is just a description of everyone in our family younger than 25.
Luna: So, yes?
pretending to rejoin Helio's church, going to heaven and killing Sol
pretending to reunite with her parents, having a heart wrenching scene about it, and ultimately using it as a ploy to kidnap her brothers
And, what I think it's most likely going to be:
Brennan's fun little 'vulture dimension' bit (that he made as a way of making fun of them and giving a nod to their origins as DND players) being twisted into an OP plot device by Ally 'Nat 20' Beardsley
current theories about ally's character choice that almost made brennan quit:
Ayana - hopelessly crushing on Bart
Mike - Hopelessly crushing on Carol
Carol - Wondering what sorts of feelings she should have about Cissie
Cissie - Wondering why Carol is lookin' at her like that
Bart and Preston - exchanging fucking rings for this dance and it's very gay looking
Wade - being the aroace rep out of all of this and just having a blast playing Zelda and ignoring all this damn teenage nonsense.
so many of you are so wack about kristen applebees
she is a teenager from an abusive cult home, and that influences her choices in very understandable ways. we can clearly see the influence of her raising in her actions! and feel for her in making them!
and ALSO being from an abusive home can make you prone to making some REAL fucked up decisions that affect and hurt other people (including people who have truly nothing to do with the abuse you faced originally).
it feels clear to me that that's going to be part of kristen's journey this season, and i think some of y'all are going to have a bad time because you've decided to die on the hill of "kristen can do no wrong" or the hill of "kristen is evil".
try loving a character by understanding why they're fucking up and also looking forward to them having to learn from their mistakes, it's fun it's freeing it's a good time even
