˗ˏˋ꒰ 🍒 ꒱ My hyperfixations last for a long time so I apologize in advance.
˗ˏˋ꒰ 🍒 ꒱ I repost nsfw stuff quite often so I'd appreciate it if my following was 18+ only.
˗ˏˋ꒰ 🍒 ꒱ I support being openly queer, trans etc. My opinion on mspec lesbians is positive. People are allowed to do whatever they want. If that bothers you, don't follow me, period.

REMINDER GO EVERYONE LGBT OR WHO SUPPORTS US!! (I've gone through every letter in lgbt at least once on my neverending journey, I'm allowed to say this)-
words like:
Butch
Dyke
Bulldyke
Faggot/fag
Muffmuncher
Cocksucker
Fruity
Gay
Queer
Homosexual
Transvestite/Transsexual/transgender (all ways to refer to those with different genders at birth to what they are and they are NOT outdated because they are STILL used, primarily by older queer folks and they deserve to be mentioned! Sick of the fucking discourse.)
Stone butch
Bulldagger
Faghag
Munch
Down-low
Tranny
Betty/a Betty Boop (very similar to femme and other related terms. Also seems to be colloquial to my general area?? Not sure if it or similar is used elsewhere, colloquial and local differences change a lot that you don't realize until you come across what it meansssss elsewhere. Used to refer to lesbians that are very traditionally femme and have big eyes and short hair. Also refers to specifically red lipstick wearers.
Bisexual (those who like men and women/the definition of bisexual most know widely and ALSO someone who is BOTH A MAN AND A WOMAN/ANOTHER COMBINATION. it has been and STILL IS used both ways. Respect that. The older generations coined many of your terms. Things change, but you don't get to tell someone how they identify.)
Bent
Bussy
En femme/en homme
Molly/Tommy
Tomboy/tomgirl
Flower/floral
Friend of Dorothy
Twink
Twunk
Batty/batty boy
Bender
Fairy
Fruit loop
Pansy
Sod
Bambi
Boi (UK origin, akin to dyke, butch, and tomboy)
Rug muncher
Kitty/pussy puncher/muncher
Muff diver
Stud
Pack o' cigs/Pack o' fags (self explanatory, this seems to be a colloquial term in my hometown and surrounding counties. Pack o' cigs is a pack of, traditionally, butches/dykes. Pack o' fags is the gay male equivalent. I grew up hearing this one directed toward me a LOT lmao)
AC/DC (pan/bi, swings whatever way. US term.)
Lady boy/boy girl/girl boy (can be used in many ways, but typically refers to a boy who is also a girl, a femme boy, femboy, or similar concepts)
Femboy
Traggot (a combining of tranny and faggot)
T girl/t guy/t boy
Trap (widely used even now as a slur or derogatory word, but I have met many who this is their identity to some degree. Respect that. They're queer too.)
Cuntboy/pussyboy/dick girl/girl dick
Fag stag
Bear
Pup
Cub
Bull
Silver fox
...And about a million other words through thousands of other anguages across the entire world-
Are NOT dirty, filthy, disgusting, nasty, used incorrectly, or "aren't to be used by anything other than XYZ individual in the LGBT community and nobody else."
They aren't dirty words. They aren't disgraceful or filthy unless the user of the term says "yeah, I'm fucking filthy! I'm disgraceful! Fuck yeah!"
If someone says they're a dyke? They're a fucking dyke. If someone says they're anything on this list or use any queer term? Fucking let them.
Here's why:
Use LGBT people have used any words thrown at us, handed to us, words we've been beaten with, words we've held onto with our lives and anger and love, words that have been used for us, against us, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, BY US for decades and in some cases even so long as a a century or more.
A masc straight woman is still called a dyke. A faggot. Thus, if she chooses, she's still a fucking dyke.
What we're always called or what we find fits us will always become our identity in some way or another somehow sometime.
That happens.
I've had every fucking word you've got and I guarantee ones you've never heard of thrown at me since I was a toddler, running around in mud-stained blue and red converse and a Barbie dress with a mohawk in my hair. I've heard them since I was in an AC/DC band tee, sparkly shorts, galaxy leggings, and glittery roller skates.
I and MILLIONS OF OTHERS LIKE ME, lgbt or otherwise, those who "I just dealt with what they called me. I was gonna be called that anyways so I don't care anymore. I have no gender/sexuality/preference/label/etc but I answer to it all/it's a part of me now but I'm not lgbt in my own mind" are FUCKING VALID FOR THIS.
Stop fighting your own fucking community. Stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop. I have been called everything on this list except for a few (because I am obviously not a bear when you look at me not a silver fox or whatever) my entire fucking life.
I am agender. I am aro/ace. I am also a faggot. A dyke. A butch. Nonbinary. Transsexual. Tranny. Pup. Boyslut. Fagdyke.
And so many others are like me like this. So many others consider these words a part of themselves.
These are OUR slurs to reclaim. These are words we made a d for the ones we didn't? We took them and wore them like fucking crowns. We wore them like they were our favourite collars, our favourite leather, our favourite words. We fucking own these words like we own ourselves and it is nobody's choice but your FUCKING OWN whether or not they're used.
Yes, there's nuance with some. I understand that. "Stud" for example is for lesbian OR "LESBIAN-APPEARING" BLACK AFABS! But I've been called stud and I am the whitest, pastiest bitch you'll meet. I continue to have black drag queens and kings and royalties and other black folk who are queer come up to me and tell me "oh baby you're such a handsome stud!" While at pride events.
I am and also am not a woman. Not a man but also I am. But I gleefully use the word dyke and fag and femboy and roseboy and pup and cub (my moddy's nickname for years was cub/cubby. Friends of theirs HAVE CALLED THEM THAT IN FRONT OF ME SINCE I WAS A BABY. thus I am called cub or cub's cub or similar.) And I use these words with nothing but pride and spite and joy and hate and love and fucking glee. Because they're mine. They're ours.
People of all kinds, all genders, all sexualities, all paths and walks of life, have been subjected at least a hundred times to at least one of these words if they're even slightly "not right" or different or weird or wrong in the eyes of whatever stupid ass societal expectations there are.
And they all deserve to use these words if they make them comfortable. These people KNOW they're lgbt terms. Fucking trust me. They learn from experience or get taught it by someone and either drop the terms or don't. That's their choice. And that choice is okay.
Stop attacking your own community. Stop attacking the "outsiders" because oftentimes the "outsiders" are part of us but don't feel like they can claim to be lgbt. Especially older generations. Older generations (which includes millennials and even a lot of older gen z and literally everyone alive) don't think they can consider or call themselves a part of us for numerous reasons.
These reasons can be it isn't safe for any variety of reasons, these people grew up being called these things and always claimed cis and/or get because the terminology at the time wasn't like it is now in the same way, certain genders were more accepted than others (IE bisexuals and lesbians and gays and straights was most of what you had, alongside men, women, and transgender man/woman, which were and still are seen as often groups, for better or worse.) And there wasn't fuck all else. Fucking nada. Zilch. Not in most cultures, certainly not in fucking America. These people are often part of us even if they don't consider themselves as being part of us.
Definitions have changed. Contexts have changed. You'll find that we (and this is ESPECIALLY going out to any gen z out here)- we have called ourselves whatever the fuck we have wanted to forever. And we always will. And we always should. We will reclaim terms/slurs and make new terms and shit, I love being called a slur, by my own people or people who intend it to hurt me. It's fucking funny.
It has all changed and will continue to. That's the way it is. Don't discount other people's experiences or histories or whatever else just because you don't know the full story or "I just don't like it". News flash- isn't your fucking life babes.
Anyways, long-ass rant over. Needs to be said. I'm sayin it.
Any beautiful, handsome, fantastic motherfuckers out there who wanna comment your identity, favourite terms for yourself, etc? Wanna call me a slur, regardless of which way, good or bad, you intend it?
Light me the fuck up, yo. Hand me the lighter and pass the weed, I've always liked playing with fire.

For the OC asks! 1, 2, 13, 14, 25 and 26 😁
For this I’ll be using my OC Lee Bromax, my most recent D&D character, a half-orc monk!
1. Weapon of choice?
He’s a trained martial artist, so he prefers to fight unarmed. Because he busted his hands up and it never healed right, he’s incredibly skilled with his legs and feet! (He was trained in aikido before his injury.)
2. Any magical powers?
Not in the arcane sense. He’s got the power of ki on his side, letting him push his body to do cool shit every now and again. His favorite trick is Flurry Of Blows, so he can throw three kicks in six seconds. (Soon it’ll be up to four kicks and I can’t wait!)
13. What is their attitude toward losing?
Lee is a very good loser. He’s no stranger to getting knocked down, but he hears no bell until he’s officially knocked onto his ass.
14. What is their ultimate move?
He’s only level three rn, so he doesn’t have any real Monk-style Super Moves, but for now it’s Relentless Endurance. Which means that once per long rest, when he gets knocked to 0 hp, he can instead fall to 1 hp. He didn’t hear no bell.
25. Are they good at fighting in teams or do they fight alone?
Lee is used to either one-on-one, or free-for-all fights. Being in teams is a little new to him, but he’s getting used to it.
26. Any special quirks?
Like I said, he can’t punch without hurting himself these days, so he’s pushed himself to master the art of legwork-based martial arts. Aside from that, he’s rather simple as a person. (Like, biting into a whole-ass loaf of bread because he’s hungry king of simple.)

7, 18, 26, 39 and 42!
7: What was your life like last year?
Honestly it took me a minute to remember lmao, but in all honesty I was still feeling the loss of Unus Annus and I had just gotten a solid job, so a little bit of good with the bad really
18: Do you miss how things were a year ago?
Absolutely not, my life now is far and away less detestable by my standards! I have a girlfriend, a job I know I can stand, and I’m doing far better mentally.
26: Idol(s)
If I had to guess, I’d say Ben Parker or my old man. Humble and generous men doing what they can for the people around them.
39: Favorite sport(s)
… Do eSports count? 😆 Honedtly I’d say I’m trying to get into boxing and MMA. It seems like, aside from an interesting (and rather painful) career, it’d be useful if I need it in a pinch. If we’re counting eSports tho, I’m gonna say Overwatch or Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
42: Favorite books
I don’t really have one favorite book. My favorite series growing up was Percy Jackson/Heroes Of Olympus, and recently I’ve been reading Arsene Lupin out of curiosity. My favorite short story is Call Of Cthulhu, hands down. (I’ve been meaning to read more horror anyhow.)

thank you ! outside of this blog im a multimedia artist and do genuinely consider the maze to be art

So if my definition of a "relationship" doesn't fit society's norms, then I don't care. I may experience attraction differently but I can still care for her as much as anyone else would & make her the happiest 🥰

Splint Ends
(or Laptop’s official story submission this semester and thinly veiled Omega/Civilian fanfiction)
Christa hadn't realized she liked girls until she met Alex.
Perhaps “met” is too simple of a word.
Christa hadn’t realized she like girls until, on an early morning in Brooklyn, she bulldozed straight through an unsuspecting woman, mid-stride, after not looking where she was going and knocked them both flat on the slightly damp concrete.
She had apologized profusely, helping the other woman to her feet. A quick smile, then off she ran, ignoring the fluttering feeling in her chest. Couldn’t be late. She had barely gotten this secretary job as is.
The next day she promptly almost did it again, but the blonde woman quickly side-stepped and winked, humor lighting up her countenance. Christa just about died of embarrassment but ran on, the heat in her cheeks mixing with the pink flush the chill air whipped up. How the other woman was wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the autumn chill, she had no idea.
It took her a month of running past her on the same route to work up the courage to talk to her. “Alex,” she learned.
It took another month of casual talk and quick meet-ups on the street to agree to meet more often.
Three months later, Christa realized she was completely and totally in love.
The moment her boss realized, she was quickly and quietly fired from her job.
Christa hadn’t realized that her existence was a dirty thing that needed to be kept secret until she met Alex.
----
Love had always been a strange but familiar concept to Alex.
She loved to run. She loved to live. She loved fresh snow and warm drinks and good cuts of meat.
But she didn’t usually apply love to a person. She wasn’t even sure if she loved herself.
She did like herself. She was scruffy and that was that.
She was sure that her love could be given to anyone if she liked them enough too.
She also knew people thought that was wrong.
Alex had learned from a very young age, in a very small family, in a very small town, in the middle of New Mexico that being a woman, liking women, loving women, and being scruffy were all considered bad things.
Alex decided from a very young age that people were the worst.
Not Christa, though.
---
Christa was good in a way most people never were, Alex thought. She was the type of person that learned your favorite food just to take you to lunch. She’d run odd errands for people with only their gratitude as payment and give what money she made as a secretary at the local publishing house to those who had even less.
Alex thought she was a Woman, with a capital W. Tall and willowy, blue eyes and a shy grin and short black curls that she pinned back behind her ears.
Alex thought she was beautiful and everything she wasn’t.
Christa still had her parents and still had her choice. A choice that Alex’s parents had made for her.
That was fine, though. She would wait for Christa to make her choice.
So when Christa came home one day with a broken look and told her- “I lost my job,” Alex felt horribly furious and horribly guilty and horribly selfish.
---
Alex was bad in a way people never embraced, Christa thought.
She took glee in breaking norms and rules and expectations, but never in a harmful way.
She was the type of person who shoplifted bread and water bottles to take to a friend she’d made living on a street corner. She fed crumbs to pigeons and crows, pet every stray dog or cat she could find and constantly went barefoot in establishments, all with the same rascally grin.
She was unkempt and kept her hair in long golden tangles that Christa gently chided her over. She hated the constraints of “women’s clothing” and had shunned bras and dresses alike altogether. She embraced the new age with open arms and eagerly took to New York and the chaos it enveloped and the change it promised like a mutt to a muddy puddle.
She was so comfortable in being herself that Christa envied her. She was a wild force of nature.
And Christa didn’t know how she had gotten so lucky to have her.
---
There were worse places to live than New York.
Sure, the weather was usually awful and traffic was hellish and the concrete jungle was generally  underwhelming to fault. But Christa knew the streets of Brooklyn like the back of her hand, and the rough calluses and contours of Alex’s hand as well as her well-trod paths of the streets.
Snow was heavy this year and their walk back to their apartment from a rare breakfast out was cold and slushy, both women bundled up, Christa significantly more so than Alex.
“I don’t get it,” Christa complained, blowing on her fingers. “You were born in New Mexico. How are you not cold?!”
Alex grinned up at her, breath misting around her face, and stole one of her mitten-ed hands, letting the warmth seep back into the cloth and chilled flesh as she held it.
“Warm blooded, I guess.”
Few people were out, most of them sensible and avoiding tramping about in the middle of December. The paused on a street corner, a newspaper stand close by, making Christa’s face pinch a bit in a bad memory before smoothing the bitterness away.
“Did you hear about the APA ruling?”
Another pair was out, two young men leaning around the newspaper stand, shuffling feet and making small talk to keep warm. Christa absentmindedly listened in as she scanned over the days headlines.
“The one about homos? Yeah. What a load of shit, huh? Faggots will be breeding like crazy now.” The taller one laughed, making a crude hand gesture through his neat leather gloves. “Not a mental illness, my ass.”
Christa’s heart stuttered. She stared at the blurred black and white paper in front of her, familiar pain bleeding up her throat. Alex’s hand froze in her grip as she went still as well, tense energy running down her arm.
“It ain’t natural,” the other agreed, nodding. The tips of his blonde hair curled over his coat collar. “They gonna ask us to fuck dogs next?”
Their dual laughter was raucous and chilling in their genuine amusement.
Alex moved just as the original speaker began his next story, of the “she-male” he’d “shown the light to” behind the bar on 5th. She pulled Christa onwards with quick, seething strides, away from ignorance and hatred that she couldn’t truly protect her from, no matter how hard she tried.
Christa had cried on the day the ruling came out, in their local gay bar, filled to the brim with exuberant cheer and good friends as they celebrated the small victory. Now, she felt like crying for an entirely different reason.
She felt small and afraid.
Christa didn’t hold Alex’s hand the rest of the way home.
---
“Have you ever thought about putting a little more effort into how you look? Lean your head forwards.”
Alex hummed noncommittally as she complied. “What, beyond this haircut? Nah, not really. How short is it going?”
Christa chewed her lip thoughtfully, winding a thick golden lock through her fingers before gently snipping the dry and harsh ends.
“I was thinking to about here,” she said to Alex’s reflection, marking a spot on her mostly-bare collarbone with a light tap. The sun highlighted the movement of her fingers, streaming through the minuscule glass window. Early morning birds could be heard, including the old demanding crow that lived on the roof next to theirs and had learned to tolerate them because of the snacks they plied his favor with. “Long enough to pull back but it shouldn’t get in the way too much. And maybe you should.”
Alex snorted and twitched at the feeling of the comb running through some unchecked tangles.
“I’m serious! I’m not talking about getting dolled up on a regular basis. That’s not you, and I’d never try to change that.” Christa brushed a few fallen clumps of hair off of the towel and let them fall to the floor to be swept up later. Alex really had a thick head of hair that practically overtook her small frame when allowed to roam free and wild as per her usual style.
“But-” she hesitated, lowering the scissors momentarily and resting her hand on Alex’s head. “I know that sometimes it's hard to be yourself.” She ran her fingers through her own thick black curls and met Alex’s eyes in the spotty reflection of the old mirror they shared in their apartment. “Especially when the world doesn’t want us to be ourselves. And sometimes… well it makes me feel better to change to person in the mirror when it feels like I can’t change anything else.”
Alex sighed and caught Christa’s hand as she raised the scissors again to return to her work. “I’m not going anywhere, Bambi.”
“I know! I just- I don’t want to lose you.”
“Hey,” Alex twisted in the chair, reaching up to gently embrace Christa’s face, frowning when she bit her lip and glanced away.  Alex’s voice was low and almost feral as she said her piece.
“The world can go fuck themselves. I love you. And you know me,” she huffed wryly for a moment. “ I don’t say that lightly.”
Christa nodded silently, gently turning Alex’s head back to the front so she could tug some more snarls out of her hair, the roughness of the strokes betraying her tumultuous feelings on the conversation.
“Do you ever regret it?” she asked. Her voice was barely above a whisper, the broad tones of her home city mingling with the stillness of outside. Brooklyn and New Mexico were an odd mix, but Alex thought they were fitting.
She and Christa were like that. The hustle and bustle and the vast spaces of nothingness, intertwined. City and wilderness. Christa, on one of the very few times she had let Alex get her drunk, had compared the two of them in that way.
“You’re like my wolf,” she had giggled, barely remembering to speak English through the cheap vodka Alex had stolen from a friend of hers. “My pretty blonde wolf, hunting the poor little deer. You caught me so… so fast!”
“Does that make you a literal Bambi Lesbian?” Alex had cackled in return. And Christa had laughed, tossing her head back, the soft pale skin of her neck and shoulders exposed and gleaming in the dim fluorescent lighting of their apartment.
It had not been the first, or the last time Alex had kissed her, but it perhaps was one of the more memorable.
“It’s 1973, Alex. We’re living in the modern day and-” here Christa’s voice cracked, a hairline fracture in her steady speech “-and I’m terrified. I’m afraid of what could happen- to me, to you, to anyone else we know. Jane got in a fight last week on the way home because someone jumped Ludwig on his way home. And you heard about the murders further down south.”
Her hands slowly gripped through the hair on Alex’s scalp, just shy of painful.
“Why is it wrong to be us?”
Alex hesitated, taking care to gently form her words before releasing them.
“Well, what do you believe?”
Christa’s fingers stilled.
“What?”
“What do you believe?” Alex asked again, trying to keep the steel out of her tone. She hated the world sometimes, hated that religion was so often used to justify hatred over differences. Hated that being different because of who and how you loved was something they saw people being killed over. “You’re Jewish. What does your faith give you about homosexuality?”
The silence was palpable, filtered only by the occasional rough caw out the window.
“We believe that we all deserve love,” Christa whispered. “And that we are not responsible for that in which we had no choice. Everyone deserves that much.”
Faith is difficult. You are not always what you believe. But, maybe sometimes you can believe in who you are.
Alex turned in her seat, ignoring the wet sheen in Christa’s eyes as she wrapped her arms around her, trying to put all the emotions that she didn't know how to word into that simple touch.
“I guess it’s easier for me,” Alex admitted into the shoulder of Christa’s shirt. “I only see the world as plainly as it appears.” She pulled back momentarily and gestured at the sunlight making dappled patterns on the faded tile. “I see the sun and the sky, the trees and the animals, and I see us in them. And if they exist, why can’t we? How could loving you-” she gripped her girlfriend tighter- “be wrong?”
Christa’s head was bowed, dark curls brushing Alex’s nose as her breathing hitched quietly with all the emotions she was swallowing.
“I… don’t understand your God,” Alex admitted rather awkwardly. She shook her head, mussing both her hair and her thoughts. “ But what about Jeremy? Or V? Jessica? We’ve gone to parties with them. I’ve had way too many drinks with Illystria and caught pigeons with Joseph and watched Mari punch and kiss her husband in the same minute. We’re just people, Christa. We do exist. We’ve found our people here.” She bit her lip, wistful smile creeping its way up her face. “Maybe today is not the best. But… there’s always tomorrow. Look how far we’ve come from Stonewall. From just this year!” Alex pulled Christa closer, gently pressing their foreheads together. “The world is what it is. I’m just grateful I’ve found a place to be myself in.”
Because it’s with you, was the phrase neither of them needed to say.
Christa’s laugh was watery.
“I haven’t ever told my parents yet.”
“When you do, I’ll be here right besides you.”
And just like that, the tension in the bathroom broke and washed away like the icy runoff that spilled from frozen rivers after spring had spread her warm wings over the mountain’s peak.
Christa’s hands were warm and solid on the small of her back.
Quick fingers momentarily tugged Alex’s shirt before sweeping her hair off to the side.
“We really do need to get you some non-shredded clothes, though.”
“What’s wrong with my clothes?”
“Schatz, there's holes in everything. Didn’t this shirt use to be pink?
Alex pouted theatrically, earning a slight giggle from Christa as she ruffled the blond bangs still falling unchecked into her face. “You’re picking on me today…”
Christa pressed a quick kiss to her forehead, smiling.
“What, me? Never.”
---
It took time. Change and acceptance are precious gems that are to be cherished and allowed to grow.
But then there was one Hanukkah in a small house in Brooklyn.
“Chag Urim Sameach, Mama und Papa. This is my girlfriend, Alex.”
People mentioned in this story! Because I couldn’t resist.

For the random pride asks: 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 26, 27, 28
6) What do you wish you could tell your past self?
A lot of things, tho none of them very gay, it wouldn’t have mattered then. Mostly about mental illness,, maybe I’d not have had a breakdown in uni if id been diagnosed earlier
7) Have you changed labels since realizing you were LGBT?
Oh yeah, since at least part of my identity is on the asexual spectrum AND i’m autistic w no real concept of gender, i can’t easily describe my feelings, let alone label them coherently.
I went from ‘im supposed to like boys its the law’ (im autistic when i was little i thought a lot of things society liked to imply were ‘normal’ were rules or laws and i didn’t have a choice; i should tell u the story of discovering lesbianism existed sometime) to ‘maybe Bi?’ to ‘asexual’ back to ‘maybe Bi’ then to ‘panromantic ace’ to Now with ‘lesbian ace’ (which i like calling ‘bambi lesbian’)
gender-wise any variation of “i don’t understand- it does not compute” on the non-binary spectrum (agender, apogender, etc) till rn when i found ‘Nologender’
8) How was your day?
Ok i suppose. i got to have a big Dr Pepper w strawberries from Sonic (my signature drink) and then I got to video share game grumps w my girlfriend so those were probably the highlights
9) Do you have any gay friends irl?
I don’t have many friends irl at all honestly,, and i’m not sure where I fall in other ppls idea of friends anyway so while i might call them my friend it might not be reciprocated, but I can knowingly say at least one definitely, but thats like out of Three People that still communicate w me in any way (and none of them live here anymore either so honestly it’s back to zero bc i dont have anyone i see irl at all *shrug*)
12) Which pride flags do you like the most design/color wise?
I love the Ace flag, black and purple are in my top 5 favorite colors! and the Agender and Aromantic flags have my other fave, green!
I like the New lesbian flag bc less pink, more orange (another fave color). (tho still why so much pink?? im proud of my gay but not enough for all that pink)
13) Do you wish you could change any pride flags?
how to fix pride flags, by Caff: more fun neon colors, wayyy less pink
i’dve said lesbian but thats gotten a bit better recently (still why pink i dont like that color damn it i dont wear pink shit im sorry)
26) Tell me a random fact about yourself!
i really like learning languages! currently i am learning/have learned somewhere around 13? 14? and im nowhere near done, not only are other languages and cultures extremely interesting, but you can connect with people in a more wholesome way by using their native language instead of making english some sort of default
though i can admit at least 2 of those counted are fictional languages and therefore not much use irl XD
27) Do you own any pride flags/merch?
i have one shirt that says ‘im an asexual dragon’ and that’s it
mom thinks if i was any more loudly gay my already rocky relationship with my emotionally abusive stepfather would escalate (i dont disagree but its not like im in the bloody closet either)
but goddamn do i want a big lesbian flag on the wall of my room. its there in spirit anyway
28) Have you ever been to a pride parade?
i live in a small town in southwest virginia, we dont have those here that i know of. and even if we did i probably wouldnt go im still afraid of being assaulted by local yeehaws,, we’re fairly close to where Bad Things Nazi Bullshit happened like last year and like. a widely publicized school shooting so im not gonna make myself a target,,
plus i cant drive or travel alone so its not like i could go to one anywhere else
i mostly stay inside my house anyway, id get overstimulated and anxious at that sort of thing regardless

Pride flags
I love the explosion in pride flags. I love it.  Yes, the original Rainbow Pride Flag is here for us all, but I think it’s wonderful that people are putting such specific, creative wordsmithing into naming their experience, and that they’re also celebrating our diversity and insisting on wonderful, colorful plurality. It’s inspiring, honestly. It also confuses me when people are like “you just wanna feels special,” or “you’re just making stuff up, now.” Buddy - I’ve got bad news for you about...words. And language. And pretty much 95% of human culture. Things mean what we decide they mean! And to me, it’s so refreshing to see queer people making so many bold, bright, beautiful declarations of who they are. There is a reason the rainbow was the choice for our community - each color represents a different aspect of begin gay, but it also emphasizes that there’s so many ways to be gay, and that we must always embrace and celebrate our uniqueness.  So, I decided to make a post with all the pride flags I’ve found that could apply to me! Some of them are more accurate than others, but these are all flags I’ve identified with at some point.
Tumblr media
Can’t beat a classic!
Tumblr media
Oh wait, you totes can. I love how this emphasizes our community’s diversity and challenges us to maintain our commitment to intersectionality and listening to the people of color in our ranks.
Tumblr media
I identified as bisexual in college, when I was first figuring things out! I still feel fine being called bi...I just think there’s other terms that are more specific for me!
Tumblr media
For a while I identified as polysexual, but I never really felt like it was a perfect fit, and also it seemed easily confused with polyamorous (which I also am). Finally I settled on...
Tumblr media
IT ME! :D
Tumblr media
OOOoooo so pretty and sparkly! :D From here on in, I’ll put them under a Readmore so that your dash isn’t dominated by an epic long post!
Tumblr media
I just found about this flag/orientation today! Omnisexual! I’m excited about it! Look how gorgeous the flag is! I’m still not clear on the difference between Pansexual and Omnisexual, I’ve seen it articulated different ways by different people...I think I’d be fine with both, tbh! Until I understand the precise distinction it’s hard for me to say which I feel closer to...but I think I’ll stick with “pan” for now, since it feels more accurate for me than bi or poly, and most people understand it.
Tumblr media
Aces are beautiful and belong in our community! Aces are so great!
Tumblr media
I’m a gray ace, or graysexual...this is the pride flag for that :D
Tumblr media
This is the original intersex flag...
Tumblr media
And this is the new one. I LOVE IT! I never cared for the way the old flag insisted on a gender binary with its pink and blue, though the white was supposed to represent nonbinary intersex people...also it was frequently mistaken for the trans flag, and while I am intersex, I’m definitely not trans, as I was AFAB and identify as a woman. (I didn’t even find out I had an intersex condition until I was 18!) I like how unique this new design is!
Tumblr media
Polyamory pride! :D
Tumblr media
Did you know that lesbians who prefer to kiss and cuddle than have sex used to be called “Bambi Lesbians?” How adorable! And how useful for the ace sapphics today! This was designed by @alouette-lulu, along with a lot of other deer pride flags! She didn’t originally intend them to be “Bambi” pride flags, but I think it works perfectly!
Tumblr media
Here’s another design for Bambi lesbians!
Tumblr media
...but I’m not technically a lesbian, so here’s a Perfect Bambi Pan flag! XD I ADORE these, thanks so much for sharing your art, @alouette-lulu!
Tumblr media
The sapphic pride flag! AAAAH It’s so pretty!! Sometimes the violets are drawn, instead of being shopped in like this. Did you know that in the language of flowers, Violets were used even centuries ago to express Sapphic romance? Dreamy! <3
Tumblr media
The queer flag! Well....one of them. XD I love the word queer, I love how defiant it is, I love its history, I love its refusal to be simply defined, and most of all I love how nobody can agree what the queer flag is, it’s perfect!! I hope there’s always twenty different queer flags because that’s just so QUEER AND PERFECT!!
Tumblr media
Another queer flag design!
Tumblr media
Oooo Geometry, YAAAAS
Tumblr media
TRUTH
Tumblr media
The BDSM Pride Flag! I’m not as active in the community as I used to be, but it was honestly lifesaving when I was going through a difficult time, and I learned SO MUCH about who I am as a person through my time in my local kink community.
Tumblr media
The Leather pride flag! I’ve often seen this used interchangeably with the BDSM pride flag, but Leather is actually a very specific subculture of the BDSM community with houses and discipline and apprenticeship protocols. I identify more with the first one, but see this one used more often...it still makes me happy when I see it, like I found a kindred spirit!
Tumblr media
The Sapiosexual flag! For a brief while I identified as sapio, but I eventually realized that while intelligence is a key component in my sexual attraction, it wasn’t the most important - that’s kindness, and a sense of humor. I realized this flag actually wasn’t right for me, but it helped me on my journey!
Tumblr media
I actually just discovered this flag in my googling for this post! I am a fat woman, and I’m learning every day how to be proud of that in a fatphobic culture. And this design is based on Neopolitan ice-cream! How cute! At first, I was really excited about it! Unfortunately, this flag is also associated with feederism, stuffing, padding, and other fat fetish, which I find disappointing. Not because I’m judging people’s kinks, but I do not participate in them - I don’t like being fetishized for my body - that doesnt make me feel “proud.” The “vanilla” stripe is supposed to represent “all BBW and BHM and the people that love them” - but I don’t like the implication that I’m “vanilla” just because I don’t participate in fat fetishism. (I’m decidedly not vanilla.) This is a very new flag, having only been designed in 2011, and I’m sad that I couldn’t find a better example for fat queer people.  So why end on that down note?  Because I’ve decided to design my own Fat Pride flag!! :D Defining our communities for ourselves is a quintessential part of the gay experience. I realized - why am I waiting around for someone else to do it? Be the change you want to see in the world! I’m going to try and do it justice! <3 Thanks for reading my long post, and if you liked and reblogged, have a hug from me. I love my community, and I’m so happy Pride Month is here!

Bisexual Media Masterpost
Someone sent us a message asking whether we know any media containing bi characters and I thought “hoo boy time for another masterpost.” So here it is. Add your rec + at least one sentence describing it in the reblogs or responses and I’ll update the post to include them! [these titles] are ones that don’t actually label characters as bi but where a character has relationships with people of more than one gender and isn’t really labelled otherwise. These are ones that have been suggested by our followers.
TV Shows and Webseries
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Police squad turned chosen family fighting crime and occasionally each other (in ridiculous bets).
The 100 - Post-apocalyptic space society decides that for some reason, a bunch of teen delinquents are the best people to repopulate the earth. Except earth already has inhabitants. (cn: bury your gays, tragedy porn)
Black Mirror, specifically the episode San Junipero - Shy awkward gay lady meets bubbly bi lady for dancing, sex and technology-based hide-and-seek.
Orange is the New Black - BamBi discovers that being rich doesn’t (reliably) keep you from going to prison and that other people have real problems.
How to get away with murder - Black bi law professor cannot believe what her students get themselves into.
Orphan Black - Clones try to find out how many fucking roles Tatiana Maslany is capable of playing within the same plot.
Lip Service - Scottish The L Word, which reminds me
The L Word - I really don’t know how to adequately describe this if you’ve never heard of it, please google it.
Dear White People: A bunch of black college students have very different ideas about how to deal with on-campus racism.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend: Woman thinks moving to a new town to be close to her ex-boyfriend will cure depression, surprisingly finds that this is not the case.
Couple-ish: Nonbinary bi artist and their lesbian (?) roommate have to fake a relationship for visa purposes.
Greys Anatomy has a strong female bisexual main character called Callie Torres who is AMAZING but there is a lot of seasons of it
The O.C. - During the second season of this teen drama about a boy from a poor, troubled family being taken in by a wealthy family with problems of their own, a bisexual recurring character is introduced as a love interest for one of the main characters. [The Legend of Korra - Sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender, follows teenage Avatar Korra as she tries to keep the world and herself in balance with some help from her friends and mentors. (Although the label bi is not used in the show, the creators released a statement explicitly using the word right after the finale aired and it may be in the sequel comics.)]
Shadowhunters - 18 year old girl finds out about her destiny of being a demon-fighting Shadowhunter and goes on a journey to find herself and defeat evil
Movies
[Cloudburst (2011) - adorable old sapphic ladies take a roadtrip to Canada so they can get married before their grandkid can put one of them in a home and split them up.]
[Margarita with a straw (2014) - Talented writer with cerebral palsy discovers that she deserves to be more than people’s token disabled girl, leaves behind unsatisfying boy crushes and (temporarily) her family to go to college in the states and fall in love with a blind lady.]
Brokeback Mountain (2005) - Bisexual shepherds get mistaken for gay cowboys.
Appropriate Behavior (2014) - Confused twenty-something tries to reconcile being a model Iranian daughter with being a bisexual woman with a live-in girlfriend. (I’m pretty sure there’s some transphobic language, but unfortunately can’t recall the details.)
[When Night is Falling (1995): College professor is torn between boyfriend/colleague and local mysterious circus lady.]
3 (2010) - Midlife-crisis-y couple begins separate affairs with the same guy. (I’m not totally sure if this film is available in English, it’s originally German. It might be my favorite movie ever, though, and I strongly recommend you watch it if you ever have the chance.)
[Frida (2002) - A visually stunning biopic on bisexual painter Frida Kahlo. I recently learned that Salma Hayek was pressured by Harvey Weinstein to include a sex scene with another woman, and honestly don’t know how I feel about that. Not wanting to include a scene that confirms a historical figure’s bisexuality seems not super great, but forcing women to perform sex scenes for the voyeuristic enjoyment of gross dudes in power positions is super disgusting, so.]
RENT (2005) - Struggling artists do their best to (not) pay rent. Instead, they sing a lot (like people in musicals tend to do.)
Books (fiction)
The Second Mango (plus sequels), by @shiraglassman: Lesbian jewish Disney princess goes on magic quests, finds bi working class girlfriend and (platonic) bi royal consort/baby daddy along the way. Includes many more queer characters as well.
Rewriting the Ending, by hp tune: Sapphic broke-writer-meets-rich-heiress fluff. (cn: some unaddressed bi erasure on the part of one protagonist.)
Ex-wives of Dracula by Georgette Kaplan: Cheerleader and dorky girl-next-door develop a thirst for blood and for each other. (cn: grown man trying to hook up with high school girls.)
The Color Purple by Alice Walker: Woman gets mistreated by all the men in her life, realizes her husband’s mistress is the best thing in her life. (cn: domestic abuse & rape)
The Light of the World by Ellen Simpson: Local bi woman cannot believe that her grandmother was gay for another lady, enlists help of her friendly neighborhood historian to find out more.
Orlando by Virginia Woolf: immortal person finds life is too long to settle for one gender (both identity- and attraction-wise).
[Temple of My Familiar by Alice Walker: A non-linear journey through the lives and thoughts and memories of several connected characters, includes a section featuring the women from The Color Purple.] [Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis: A fantasy in which a boy in our world can for unknown reasons see through the eyes of a bisexual, servant girl in other world every time he closes he eyes.] [Some Girls by Kristin McCloy - a woman in her twenties moves cross country to make a life for herself in NYC despite the wishes of her loved ones.]
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Books (nonfiction)
When we rise: My life in the movement by Cleve Jones - A personal memoir of an activist of the Gay Liberation movement. Not focussed on bisexuality in any way, but good context I think for debates with people who think it makes sense to define our community by “who originally started it.” Spoiler alert: There was no one person or group and also language and identity evolve over time.
Sapphistries: A global history of love between women by Leila J. Rupp - It’s an ambitious project to cover all of human history on the entire planet, but this is a pretty good attempt. Deals a lot with evolving identities and the difficulty of pinning labels on historical figures.
Bi: Notes for a Bisexual Revolution by Shiri Eisner -  A radical look at bisexuality - its history, its power, and the responses it provokes in the world. Blessed Bi Spirit: Bisexual People of Faith edited by Debra Kolodny - A multifaith collection of essays by bisexual people of faith. Published in the 90s, so some of the language is dated but it still is very relevant to today. Some of Us Did Not Die: New and Selected Essays of June Jordan  -  A collection of new and selected essays spanning the entire career of bisexual activist and author, June Jordan. She writes on issues of gender, race, sexuality, violence, writing, politics, etc.
Podcasts
Queery: Cameron Esposito talks to queer people about their identities, feeling ok in your own skin, coming out, and more. (I especially loved the episode where she chats with Stephanie Beatriz who, you guessed it, is bi. There’s also one with Evan Rachel Wood Bisexual.)
The Bright Sessions: Therapy sessions for people with supernatural abilities. What could possibly go wrong?
