i agree with u 100% that macden has been intended since like... at the very least season 5/6!! like the subtext is super clear to me. and yeah mac is gay so its not traditional baiting. but the current problem lies moreso with the fact that because the majority audience doesn't read those subtextual clues (cuz they don't have to/arent used to doing that to find rep in media so it inherently seems excessive to them) the ppl who do see it are told they're just crazy or obsessive and i think ppl are just tired of that and want to feel supported by showrunners. like the unfortunate fact is the wider audience wont see macden as a legit possibility until there's something more substantial than coding/subtext. so i do still think the macdennis teasing for promo/hype for s14 was still kind of shitty considering it within the pre-existing context of queerbaiting esp in the 2010s. cuz the thing is they never rlly teased macdennis in the marketing/hype before (as far as I know) which was the new thing that was off-putting in retrospect.. if that makes sense?? like i think the s14 writing still supports a gay story when u dig thru it. like I read the charden kiss as being a commentary on how ppl just view gay intimacy as a joke with dee representing said ppl who view it that way, rather than the writers themselves making the actual joke just 'haha two guys kissed!' but the general audience still reads it as the joke just being two guys kissing. which to some queer audiences can still feel more hostile than supportive, esp when these eps first aired. like I do still think (esp after s15) onscreen macden is in the cards and that was heavily hammered in with the subtext of s14. but I do also think some of the shit like 's14 is getting weird' 'ive been shipping this duo for years' resembles a lot of previous queerbaiting type stunts, again considering a majority straight audience wont take dennis as queer/macdennis as a legit possibility unless its handed to them on a silver platter or spelled out in horrible stereotypes yknow what I mean LOL? so even tho I still think macden is the plan and was being pitched in s14 to be set up in s15, I understand why some of those things from s14 left a sour taste in ppl's mouths is all !!
i fully agree with you on this (that they were pretty much baiting the fans with a lot of inuendos for the the marketing of s14), and i'm sorry i didn't make that clear. my whole thing was that it's not queerbaiting, since mac is gay. but it was baiting (the regular kind that you see in any other show), creating some kind of hype in this part of the community, just to not go anywhere with it, not really, nothing more than the "gay, gay ass" speech and the "shove it down their throats" speech.
and yes, you're 100% right about people outside the queer community not being able to see/ take seriously queer dennis or macdennis as an actual couple (every guy i talk to that has seen the show is surprised that i ship them lol). and unless rcg start laying it on thick, if/when they do decide to make macdennis canon, these other fans will complain that it was out of nowhere, or the lgbt agenda or some other shit.

do you think that -- if they WERE planning to do gay angel press initially -- part of the reason they didn't might have been the (reactionary) bury your gays backlash from fans and non-fans? in which case. twitter rly does ruin everything. :/
I’m not tied to this but here’s a hypothetical to work through that at least provides a theory on the lack of gay angel press (probably not very different from any other theory on this website but just writing it out for continuity),
okay. pre-pandemic. the arc of the final few episodes seems to have been set and 15.18 was the last piece, pending jensen’s approval. roadhouse heaven ending was a go — presumably featuring a cas cameo among other various and sundry friends. approving 15.18 introduces a problem by way of the fact that cas has just confessed his undying love for dean and there’s an expected response. but it’s fine! you don’t actually need that, you’ve been baiting fans for a decade, you can work your magic one more time with a lil wink and nudge and never have to deal with that again. ambiguous “to each his own” ending, you talk up the gay angel on one side and the bronly-ness of the last hunt on the other; everyone walks away happy. you have successfully threaded the needle of finishing off a twelve year queerbait without “caving to the fans,” high fives all around.
15.18 gets filmed. the angel is gay gay. the footage is. we don’t know what the footage looks like. there could be anything. maybe there’s a kiss with tongue. ends up not really mattering because the pandemic happens and they have to stop shooting and stop airing. no idea how much changes in 15.19 (clearly SOME stuff considering we know the folks who got chuck snapped in the silo were supposed to be shown back in the flesh and that got cut). 15.20 has to change — so roadhouse heaven becomes three person heaven (plus the cast and crew, who were already on set so no, this is not proof they could have brought a crowd of actors anyway, it’s just. weird. I don’t like this decision. strikes me as authoritative like WE told the story not YOU. anyway). putting cas in three person heaven makes winking and nudging a lot harder to do and would make the absence of an actual substantive response to the confession uhhhh very obvious. so you have to cut cas. and then maybe you have to cut other references to cas in 15.19, maybe you cut some emotionality from dean’s side in 15.18, maybe you straight up insert the moment in 15.20 where dean tells sam to stop being an eeyore about cas’s death! we don’t know how much was changed, but there was at least the opportunity at this point to dull dean’s response to the whole thing so the absence of cas in heaven is more palatable. it’s the bronly ending, but you already gave the audience the gay angel. and the gay angel is alive and building heaven with his son! no more cashing in on the queerbait but still cashing in on canon gay.
it’s november 5th. 15.18 airs. it trends higher than the biggest election “of our lives.” holy shit! gay angel! but of course the issue is the people responding aren’t the people who have been watching the show. they don’t have context for what’s going on and “turbohell” catches on. fuck. did you kill the gay angel? of course not, he’s in heaven with his son! lisa berry can post her goodbye instagram to her character because obviously billie’s dead, she’s the villain. she’s not expected to come back. but cas is... cas is different. and he’s not dead and you won’t be taking any questions on this until we get to the end, when everyone can settle down. so you have your actors gush about the episode, you leave everyone on pins and needles so they’ll come back for two more, and then! well. 15.20. cas is “alive” technically. dean is dead, as you always planned. some people are happy, some people are middling, and some people are fucking pissed at you because apparently by not outright killing off the gay angel you promised them the gay angel was coming back. any clarification you would offer here would unspool your entire plan — gay angel on one side, brothers on the other. erasing cas isn’t the same as killing him, but you can’t say that (though misha basically did in response to the rogue translator shenanigans). killing dean wasn’t even supposed to be about cas, but now everything is about cas. you took him out of the story completely and he’s still managed to take over. and all you can say is, well, it’s always been a story about brothers.
this obviously doesn’t account for everything, such as what the fuck was uriel’s actor doing? why the fuck did the show actually give us the instructions for how to get someone out of the empty and not do it? and there’s an infinite number of things that could have happened that I would simply never guess not knowing specific onset dynamics and money decisions. whatever happened that caused this clusterfuck really does suck for everyone in that writers room who was on team gay angel because, as I have said in the past, 15.18 only works due to at least four years, if not seven or more, of consciously writing the angel as gay. I hope bobo and yockey and even misha feel personal satisfaction at a job well done, but god if a single fucking interview could at least let us indulge in the victory with them. anyway, all of this is to say, yes I do think the bury-your-gays of it all definitely plays into it (and I would say, again, linking this to it chapter 2, it’s significant muschietti and co decided to make richie gay over eddie; people who haven’t read the book might not know that eddie like. literally drinks mineral water. in the 80s. he wears gucci loafers. he marries a carbon copy of his mother. stephen king would never admit to writing a gay man but that was a gay man. but eddie dies! eddie always dies. so they had some good sense in giving the gay story to the one who lives and leaving the dead one holding all the coding). and I definitely think randos on twitter making fun of the confession did not help matters. but I also think the decision to pull press cannot be extricated from the rubble of the last two episodes and everything they promised but never delivered. literally a single second of cas in the finale would have been their golden ticket! that’s far more than what jj did for star wars! but they got played at their own game by, of all things, an international pandemic. somehow a very supernatural ending after all.

I’d like to point out that the “it’s all just a bunch of coincidence” argument is very poor. People say that about anything they don’t like. If we’re using this argument then I could say that everytime Mileven accidentally held hands or touched or any of that lovey dovey stuff that the Mileven fandom goes nuts over is a coincidence, but I have 0 evidence that it’s a coincidence, I’m just saying it is because that’s how I, a biased person on the side of byler, sees it. And I love the Milevens that actually respect us, it’s just the toxic ones that stomp on us or rain on our parade that irritate me.
So I ask skeptical Milevens, why do you think it’s all a coincidence? Because the Duffers have gone on record multiple times saying that nothing in their show is a coincidence, so it’s odd of you to assume that it is, when that goes against everything the duffers have said.
I see a lot of people claim that all of Bylers very romantic coded scenes are just coincidences with out any real evidence solely because they want them to be coincidences.
Reminder that the duffers had to write, revise, have Noah and Finn read at the table read, rehearse, and then film all of Bylers romantic coded scenes. And do you seriously believe that nobody stepped up and said, “Hey, I think some people will start to ship this if you make your two male characters hold hands and look at each others lips.” Like on paper, that sounds romantic. And on screen, it looks romantic too! If the duffers didn’t want byler to be shown as romantic they wouldn’t have put all of that effort into Mike and Will’s romanticly coded scenes in season two. And sure, one could say they were oblivious and didn’t realize that this relationship could be seen as anything more than romantic and that one of their 100 other writers and revisors and producers didn’t step up and say “Is this really what we want to be conveying in this show when they’re just supposed to be friends?” (Which I doubt. The duffers and everyone else on the writing crew knew exactly what they were implying. And if the duffers themselves didn’t, I HIGHLY doubt that someone didn’t step up and point out how romantic some of these scenes are, especially considering multiple of their writers are apart of the lgbtq community which makes it highly more likely that someone would have realized as I’m sure their gay senses are much stronger than those of the cishet writers on the squad. ) However, byler kind of blew up after season two, so if ST didn’t mean for Mike and Will’s relationship to be seen as more than platonic, then why did they continue doing it in season three? And the thing is, we’re not “delusional” for thinking this. Hundreds of thousands of millions of people have pointed this out across all platforms. It stops being a problem with us and “seeing what we want to see” when millions of people see the same, and it becomes the writers problem for even implying that in the first place.
Here’s an example: take Lucas and Dustin. Sure, there are definitely people out there that think or head canon as either as gay, but not nearly as big of a community as the Byler community. The reason is: Lucas and Dustin don’t have queer coding. They haven’t been painted the same way as Mike and Will’s relationship has. Or Jonathan, yeah, people may head canon as him as gay, or even think he actually is, but he doesn’t have any evidence that really points up to the fact that he is, or that he could be.
The duffers aren’t stupid. They wouldn’t have written byler this way if they didn’t want people shipping it. The official ST writer account has acknowledged byler multiple times, before st3 even started filming. They knew what they were doing. If their goal was to portray Mike and Will as a simple platonic friendship, and that all of their queer coded scenes in st2 were just a coincidence, why would they continue to do it in season 3? Queer baiting is real, yes. However like I said before, the st writing team has a lot of queer and lgbtq+ members themselves, not sure why they would want to queer bait when they’re gay/lesbian/bisexual themselves.
The truth is, byler would have never made it this far if it wasn’t meant to be shipped and portrayed like more of a romantic relationship than a platonic one. They would have shut it down awhile ago. They wouldn’t be so ominous about it. Noah and Finn wouldn’t constantly dodge questions about it unless they legally weren’t allowed to answer them. The duffers wouldn’t have been so vague in the ending of season 3 or in any interviews regarding season 3 about byler. Mike and Will wouldn’t have gotten a whole segment in the official ST book, they wouldn’t have held hands! Seriously! They held hands. Did someone seriously not point out how non platonic that was?———
And use the excuse all you want, “Will was just scared. That’s why Mike held his hand.” Okay, well Max and Lucas held hands when they were both scared in the exact same episode but I guess that doesn’t count because they’re a boy and a girl and Mike and Will are two boys. ———-And it’s funny because you KNOW that if Mike promised to go crazy together with El, that would he in every Milevens Instagram bio, it’d be on merchandise, it’d be everywhere. If Mike said meeting El was the best thing he’s ever done, people would be going bat shit crazy over how romantic that is and how they’re so in love. If Mike and El fought and he ran out in the middle of the rain looking for her when he couldn’t even apologize to his real girlfriend who dumped him just hours prior, people would say that Mike was in love with El and how much he cares about her yadda yadda. But that’s the thing. It’s two boys, so apparently it has to be platonic. Because that’s just how it works in their cishet minds. ——I’d like to see a better argument then “it was all a coincidence.” Because that’s not valid. Why? Why do you think it’s all a coincidence? It’s all just fake? Please. Elaborate. Because if these romantic scenes involved Mike and El instead of Mike and Will, then they’d see. Because they didn’t have Finn and Noah rehearse all these romantic coded scenes multiple times for nothing. They literally wrote, revised, edited, rehearsed, and filmed ALL of these scenes and still went through with it. And even in season three when people really started shipping byler, they STILL directed Finn and Noah to look at eachothers lips. They still filmed the rain fight. KNOWING byler shippers existed and KNOWING this would only heighten the amount of byler shippers there are.
The duffers aren’t stupid. This isn’t a surface level show. Everything they do is intentional, they’ve said it themselves. And yes, I agree that some byler proof COULD just be apophenia, but stuff like this? Crazy together? Looking at eachothers lips? Holding hands? I’m the only one that cares about Will? Mike keeping his eyes open in the final Mileven kiss, those aren’t small little things. You’re telling me that they couldn’t find another take for that final Mileven kiss? No. Finn kept his eyes open because he was directed to do so. The duffers are writers and directors for a reason. They went to school for this. So please, I’d like to see some actual argument against byler other than “they said they loved eachother!” “It’s all a coincidence!” I’d like to see people actually counter my arguments with actual evidence. Not just “Finn says they’re in love” not just “Millie ships it!” Because interviews are not evidence. They’re instructed to create hype for the show. If David can lie about hopper being dead, Finn and Millie can lie about Mileven being in love. I don’t want the argument of “it’s been built up for 3 seasons so they won’t destroy it now.” Stancy was built up for 2 seasons and see how that turned out. And Mileven fell more in season three than it went up.
Anyways,, if you’re a polite Mileven, this isn’t for you. I love you with my whole heart. If you’re just vibing, I love you. Ship what you want to ship! Feel free to counter my argument! However, If you’re someone who calls us “delusional”, leave. The doors right there. The cast has talked about how much they hate the ship wars in our fandom, so if you’re just gonna say how stupid we are, don’t let the door hit you on the way out:)
Sorry for long post lol. Love you all

Is there a name for middle lane larries?
Topic: An opinion on larry
I think there is substantial compelling evidence, but I'm not 100% convinced that there is still something but it’s possible there is we just don’t see.
If someone calls me a larrie, it's not insulting at all, but if someone were to call me an anti i’d be sad, honestly. Below I say many things that make it seem like I negatively judge hardcore larries, but I don't. I find it extraordinary that people can be so brave and sure of themselves, and I wish I could be too. I tend to get along with larries, while I mostly avoid antis unless they manage to be respectful, which is unfortunately quite rare.
I think it's practically effortless to get toxic when trying to prove or disprove things. I think it's dehumanizing and feels stressful to me as a fan. Therefore I can only imagine the difficulty and what it takes for people in a position of fame to get to a place of inner strength and resilience where the millions of opinions of the world don't affect them as much. It's sometimes hard to judge/differentiate what is and isn't disrespectful, and it hurts terribly to know I'm crossing boundaries. So I'm putting my opinion together in hopes it isn't as counterproductive or pointless as it feels.
I'm not at all trying to convince anyone of a narrative to sway people to believe or not believe. What and how much you know and where you "stand" is down to you.
Do I believe in larry?
First and foremost, being a fan of someone means supporting that person without expecting anything from them. It means any fan theory isn't crucial. What’s important is just supporting them as is, as an individual. It means caring about how the person may feel about things more than caring about how I feel about things that aren't my business in the first place.
That said, here is my not long-awaited opinion.
I think there is substantial compelling evidence, but I'm not 100% convinced that there is still something but it’s possible there is we just don’t see. I will not disregard what Harry and Louis said back in the day and pretend they had nothing when at the very least, Harry said it on video directly twice. Yes, he was a kid, but people will decide Harry is with a skinny blonde woman older than him for much less, so I don't take what he said as a platonic joke. However, I try to be as realistic as possible. As an outsider, it's not easy for my brain to conclude on most things. However, this doesn't mean I disregard how bad the industry can be. One big reason is that I don't know any of these people personally, and I want to believe in the best in others. Even though I understand controlling narratives in the industry happens and happened to 1D. I don't know to what extent. It's hard for me to judge that any or all of Harry's "relationships" are fake, and thus, he's had a few "stunt" songs for those relationships, etc. It’s plausible that he wrote female pronouns on a song or a few and the song refers to a man/men but that's far from saying this is a stunt song which would imply an entire fake relationship which is too far for me to say wasn't real as I am just an outsider.
Whether people say it's the fans who say it or the boys behavior, the statement, 'larries ruined their friendship,' is sometimes interpreted as centered around homophobia. I do not see it this way.
However, whether there was or is a relationship, it's entirely reasonable to consider, the circumstances as a whole hurt them and likely the rest of the band in multiple ways that made things really hard. I do not think fans ruined the band or their connections with each other. I think being overworked with little freedom or breaks to discover/express independence were just a few reasons why.
Why I think larry appeared to become distanced to the public eye: 1. Understandably, putting blame on the heteronormative gender restrictive times we were in and still are in. 2. How some fans react to Larry's interactions due to reason number one. Otherwise, all the 1D members, their families, and friends have been honest. That would mean there isn't an elaborate conspiracy; they are just tired of people messing with who they care about and want to live without the harassment. Regardless of whether some fan theories are accurate or not, people in the spotlight and their families deserve peace of mind. They don't deserve to be dehumanized. I wish some fans would understand how wrong it is to swarm people or ask strangers to confirm any personal things. Not only because it's rude and invasive but because of mental health. If that's confusing, imagine if it were you in their position.
I used Zayn's interview because he shared it eloquently while the other mentions that ‘Larry isn't real’ were mostly screen captures of constituents replying impatiently to larry comments on social media saying the Larry thing is delusion and not what real fans do.  Zayn in this 2015 fader interview. "There's no secret relationships going on with any of the band members," he explains. "It's not funny, and it still continues to be quite hard for them. They won't naturally go put their arm around each other because they're conscious of this thing that's going on, which is not even true. They won't do the natural behavior." He goes on to add to the statement, "But it's just the way the fans are. They're so passionate, and once they get their head around an idea, that's the way it is regardless of anything. If it wasn't for the passionate, like almost obsession, then we wouldn't have the success that we have." Before the subject changes, Zayn said that fans would find a way to water down what he said and make any excuses, e.g., that he couldn't speak the truth.
I can't speak for anyone but myself. (I’m a queer cis female) I don't think I would want to 'get dragged through a round of 'coming out' press. Why should sexuality be treated as an oddity by the median, and why should queer people have to subject themselves to that treatment?' The amount of coming out stories and things that could follow a person, or the people around, in the aftermath, would be atrocious. People, personally and professionally, may treat you differently after. The queer stereotypes would be exhausting. Also, it's not always as safe sometimes to be out. Whether there was/is a relationship at all between 1D members. “Being open to everyone isn't easy. Now imagine yourself no less human than right now, but add millions of eyes on you. It's insensitive to assume about someone when they could be doing their best/what is comfortable—please let's stop invalidating what we don't understand.”
Zayn's career connects to Hollywood, and he’s in the spotlight so it's not easy to suddenly believe everything I hear and see is the truth just because someone like him said it. However, at the same time, it's rather discomforting for me to disregard and look into everything people like Zayn or his constituents say. I want to believe the best in people and sympathize and “back him up” in a sense. It's also way to hard to believe all things other fans say because we are passionate and obsessed, so there is confirmation bias.
Do I concretely believe anything?
Yes, but those things don't directly confirm or deny anything especially Larry.
I believe the boys were responsible for RBB & SBB.
I have some reason to believe the song Carolina could be about experimentation with drugs since Johnny Cash's Cocaine-Carolina song is plausibly similar. Also, it's not uncommon if you're wealthy or famous to experiment with drugs, including harmful drugs; the environment can make it more accessible and normalized. I don't condone drug abuse; I hope Harry is wise enough not to make it a reoccurring thing. I want him naturally happy and healthy, but it's not my life, and I don't know him to have any right in making that call. I trust from Harry's character and what he said in his Zane Lowe interview that he knows better. However, the song Carolina might be about Townes or maybe it's both, I have no clue.
I believe SOTT is about "fundamentals" like Harry said it is, not just from the perspective of 'a mother telling the child to go forth and conquer.' I notice some people readily look over the childbirth story, saying 'it makes no sense,' but it can easily coincide with fundamentals, "Equal rights for everyone, all races sexes, everything." Check out this in depth lyric analysis?
I think most of us know and support that Harry is a proud member of the community. If he wasn’t he’d just say that.
I think maybe COAC and SOTT may have been collaborative. There are multiple writers on both songs and if it’s possible to have a ghost writer then I say it's plausible they chose to write them similarly.
I think Louis possibly queer codes. Straight people don’t queer code so you might think it’s queer baiting but I don’t think someone sick of gay rumors would go that route. Either that, or he's a passionate and sympathetic ally.
However, Louis is still "with" E. From a perspective of committed fans, it doesn't look like a sincere relationship. As an outsider, again, it feels far too presumptuous for me to have a B&W opinion.
It seems that adults with somewhat official platforms let rumors run rampant, and not many grown adults of the time seemed to correct or silence it. I should have said this early and cannot stress this enough, ANYONE who is not the Louis Tomlinson or in his family tree is in no way an official source. If they're acting like they know things (not just reporting on what's happening), they were/are either trolling or want people to freak out for clout. Being led astray by people looking to capitalize on fans is always a danger. It's insensitive, inappropriate, and unprofessional, but it happened. I am surprised by that and that 1D's management didn't try to protect Louis and his image more. I’m not an insider able to judge him negatively or to overanalyze the situation. So I won't assume he's not a dad, and I hope he's doing well.
(About the above paragraph about Louis this is an update after the original post I made to say I don't have a further developed opinion because I never looked into it and don't know if I will so don't hold that against me please I just personally don't feel like it’s a thing I need to do and I know larries don’t appreciate when non-larries make comments on things without thoroughly looking into things so you won’t see a further opinion from me or judgment unless I do actual research)
In conclusion, and to reiterate, I feel like there is some truth to some things. Again, it feels disrespectful or too presumptuous for me to have many opinions, especially of the negative kind, as an outsider. I don't know any of these people personally, and I want to believe in the best in others. I am not harshly judging things because I don't have a complete story or the right to. However, this doesn't mean I disregard how bad the industry can be to people in multiple ways.
As fans, we can do much better. It's not unreasonable to wish people didn't constantly objectify/sexualize people with fame and didn't harass them/their families about fan theories. Also, always wanting something from these people and expecting them to fulfill god-like expectations as if they don't go through the same human experience and aren't completely flawed like the rest of us, or stalking them—something sick and a behavior that's saddening and disgusting. Real fans just leave them be to live their lives. Please call out stalking and discourage it if you notice it. Overall, I think we can all be a bit more respectful and understanding or try to make an effort. I'm not a superfan, but I'd like to be genuine and not a reason why these people dislike being in the spotlight. I feel like that means being as grounded, realistic, and sensitive about how these people may feel about things more than caring about how I feel about things that aren't my business in the first place. It ultimately means any fan theory isn't crucial. What’s important is just supporting them as is, as individual.

how do you feel about the new sally face chapter?
Im glad you asked! under a read more for spoilers for chapter 5
Myself and Fox are giving our opinions in this post so it will be very long
There were things i really liked and things i really didnt like
for example, the swapping dimensions and the changing art styles were very neat! i liked some more than others, like the rubber hose style for sal could of been a bit different in my opinion, @shinysnek did an edit/drawing and tweeked the tiniest thing and made the design alot more palatable
Tumblr media
and the minigames were… really repetitive and sometimes very confusing ? esp todds door, the plus’s were almost impossible to notice! slightly darker grey against light grey just makes it look like part of the door :/ and the 3d bits were a bit hard to control during the later part of the game
and the writing,, it felt super rushed as if he just wanted to saddle alot of the damage onto native americans??? that completely came out of the blue, like he couldnt come up with some sort of cop out for why the cult is doing what they do
and still with the weird queer baiting with larry? like he made them brothers but is still pushing it, if steve wanted sal’s love interest to be ash why not have moments like ‘that’ with her instead?? it feels very uncomfortable in my opinion especially with him saying he was still,,comfortable with the ship which REALLY rubs me the wrong way
and the ending,,, dont even,, TALK to me about the ending, it honestly made me so upset?? like, and the epilogue to go with it,,, like okay cool the worlds still fucked over and todds still corrupt and larrys just gone??? for no real reason???????? hes just gone :| okay
gnome larry was funny tho, didnt really explain why Larry got super old while megan stayed a 7 year old, i suppose you can explain it with like when ghosts arent bound to a place they can wither and age? i dunno whatever chapter 5 sucked and it felt like steve just didnt want to do it anymore
my turn! alright im going to be typing my opinion from a fellow writer and programmer’s POV.
the beginning of the game kinda drops you in which was a little surprising, considering the other chapters were very rich with exposition which is one of the things i loved about SF.
It had this way of bringing you in even though you didnt know what the heck was going on. It made you want to learn more and it felt like you were THERE with sal.
But this opening with just… ash tossed in fell a little… flat. yeah… graveyard… lets toss in some epitaphs as a reminder of who died, ok… cool.
next lets talk a little about the general story. im not going to lie, this felt like a TOTALLY different game to me and I played them all in succession again to remind myself of the other chapters.
It was so… plain. It didnt have the eerie-ness of the bologna incident, it didnt have the intriguing mystery of the first chapter where it started you off in the hospital as a little boy with your face hidden, it didnt have that heart wrenching storyline of the 4th chapter.
it was just…. “i need to end this game quick”.
there was just a unique feeling to the other chapters, something that made you feel gritty and floaty, like you were a dirty teenager hunting for ghosts.
Saddling the natives on the unexplained reason as well… BIG YIKES, steve. the silent hill movies pulled this crap too, and we can all see how flat that fell in comparison to the actual silent hill 3 game.
There are so so many things you could do instead of that tired (and lets face it) racist stereotype.
I thought it was going to have a deeper meaning, like… people have had cults for decades that didnt have to do with the natives. hell, he could have even kept with the weird alien theme he was going for. calling an ancient alien creature? that would be pretty badass.
The ending… fell disappointingly flat. ok… everyones dead? so you tortured sal and his pals for literally no reason? granted i didnt press the c4 button so im not sure how that path goes, but i doubt its any more satisfying.
not to mention the constant queerbaiting that, at this point, makes me so uncomfortable.
yes we get it, steve. you think adopted brothers can fuck, and yeah, theres nothing TECHNICALLY wrong with it (and im using technically by definition, its still wrong in my eyes), but come on. can any of you tell me that wouldnt make you intensely uncomfortable? Its not ok what he did imo and i know its his characters, but steve? either dont make them brothers or stop fucking pushing their romantic interactions.
oh and lets talk about the only other canonly gay couple with any screen time! he killed the black one.
yep… just… let that sink in for a second. did he need to? absolutely not. at least not in such a pointless way.
didnt even give neil any character development tbh, just… token black gay man that needed to be there to be the motivator to search for todd. ok thanks, steve.
and travis (another not white character. no do not argue that hes “blonde”, sal has fucking blue hair and i WILL color pick travis if i have to). he was the other gay character who… yep, lemme look at my notes… died.
he didnt even get much of a redemption tbh, yeah he was secretly helping them, but… wow. toss him in the hole! we dont want to write gays!!! (unless we’re taunting people to get them to play under the guise of “lgbt representation”)
also larrys a gnome and is just… gone forever. just say you hate larry, steve. you didnt have to do him so dirty man.
now then, lets talk about the gameplay.
i was playing with an xbox controller so im going to be from that POV.
the controls were… ok for the most part. the 3d part was a bit hard to see and i got stuck trying to walk past the trees a lot.
to be honest, the 3d is my only complaint with controls. the mini game later on where youre 3d and shooting tentacles was very hard to control, half the time it wouldnt move fast enough and the other half it would zip past the diagonals. i DID beat it, but i am a very good gamer. to other people who might not play games constantly, might have a bit more trouble and get frustrated.
the puzzles were bland and repetitive. im a horror puzzle game writer and i would NEVER do something this blasphemous in a horror style game. it removes you from the game to think “wow…. THIS puzzle AGAIN?”. it makes you feel like its insulting your intelligence, like “oh here you go you fucking baby, move the shape to match the other shape”
and one of the only other puzzles was that fucking door number puzzle. he made the pluses almost impossible to see for starts, and i KNOW other people had trouble with this. Wanna know how to fix this? make the pluses easier to see and make it so the input pad can only except the number of numbers that the code it. dont make me sit there like a jackass, typing in every conceivable way to order the numbers given.
all in all though, the gameplay was plain, the storyline was bland, the puzzles were mediocre and the only reason to play the chapter is to close up the story and to find out what happened to sal and his mom (which tbh was the only good part because i was actually surprised and excited that it was that that injured him)
i hope in steves next projects he actually figures out how to write an ending and doesnt rush it (and please keep in mind this was rushed even though he had multiple people helping him)

alright, here are my thoughts on the unstoppable wasp novel! i’ve put the majority of my thoughts, and LOTS of spoilers, below the cut. short summary is that . . . i didn’t really like it at all :/
so, i’m gonna preface this by saying that i wanted to absolutely LOVE this book. it’s all about nadia and she is one of my all-time favorite characters and it’s so great that she got the spotlight in this way! i just really really wish i could, in good faith, say that the book was good, but i just can’t. and admittedly, i consider the unstoppable wasp comics to be nearly perfect, which is a high bar to hit, but there was just so much about this book that left a bad taste in my mouth.
first thing i want to mention is the role of the rest of the g.i.r.l.s. and when i say that, i mean that they had virtually no role. i genuinely wasn’t sure if i (the reader) was expected to have read the comics before the novel. on one hand, the first few chapters were spent pretty much summing up the comics, which is fine, especially because some readers may not have read the comics. on the other hand, if i hadn’t read the comics, there’s NO WAY i would’ve known anything about the other g.i.r.l.s!! they’re barely present in the plot of the book! they are present in one scene in the beginning, taina has a few lines throughout, and they’re more involved at the end, but a lot of the times they seemed more like wallpaper than actual characters. especially because of the frequency with which the author would throw in lines such as “that ethiopian place that shay likes” or “priya’s on-trend jeans” and just name-drop them without really giving them any substance. since i know the comics, i already know these characters--but if i was just reading the novel with no background? there’s no way i’d be able to keep them straight.
building off of what i said in that last point, i also wanted to mention that i listened to the women of marvel podcast interview with the author. something that i noticed is that she would always refer to the g.i.r.l.s as the “g.i.r.l. squad.” and that, i think, is the root of why i didn’t like how they were handled. it’s obviously pretty simple to explain their absence in the story by just noting that the whole point was that nadia was feeling alone and isolated from them. HOWEVER, in my opinion as a woman who has been in engineering . . . that doesn’t happen? nadia and the g.i.r.l.s are labmates--it’s right there in the title. they ARE the genius in action research labs. the “lab” isn’t just the location, it’s the people who make it up. by referring to them as “g.i.r.l. squad” instead of just “g.i.r.l.,” the author is changing the dynamics from “being a cohesive unit of girls who make up this incredible group and support each other in their science and goals” to “friend group who all happen to do science.” and as i mentioned, the random falling-out that happens in the book doesn’t happen to groups of the first type. being a girl in stem SUCKS. being in a stem class means that you’re automatically friends with the 1-2 other girls in there with you. and the people you work on projects with in a lab? the other girls who take the time to support you and have your back even though the odds are stacked against you? those are a whole different kind of friendships and i PROMISE they’re not wrecked by just forgetting to talk to each other. the girls that i worked with in college--the girls that i worked with now--it’s for survival. you don’t just fall apart like nadia apparently did from the g.i.r.l.s in this book.
okay. final bullet point on this topic. but in the women of marvel interview, the author said that she wanted to explore what could break apart the bonds that the g.i.r.l.s had formed. but on page 263, there’s the line “and if they had all just been a little better at communicating, maybe it wouldn’t have been so long before one of them realized that nadia was relying a little too closely on that little gold device.” so this deep dive into splitting the g.i.r.l.s apart, and barely giving shay, taina, ying, and priya a role in the story--was caused by MISCOMMUNICATION??? no freaking thanks LMAO. even without everything i’ve already mentioned, that trope is so lazy.
the writing style kinda bothered me at some points--i remember the discharge being described as “carbon dioxide” at one point, but like, just call it white foam. it’s so much easier and saying carbon dioxide pulled me out of what was happening. obviously this is a personal thing, not something objectively bad, but i still thought i’d mention it.
there seemed to be this point, around page 260, where it seems like the book flipped a switch. obviously, this is where the climax hit, but so many other things seemed to just randomly get pushed into place because the plot necessitated it? like, for example, nadia and the g.i.r.l.s are suddenly bffs again. even though, in nadia’s interior monologue, we’ve been hearing her resentment for them, it seemed like once the plot needed them to work together that they were able to do so without problem. and not only that, but it didn’t even feel earned? the book NEVER showed nadia and the g.i.r.l.s as actually like. being friends. (as i mentioned, not a choice i agree with, but still a fact.) so to have them all suddenly team up for the Big Boss Battle just felt weird and disengenuous to all of them. additionally, nadia went from defending margaret at all costs to suddenly thinking “oh yeah, she’s probably super evil. no big deal.” like WHAT??? the whole point of the first 250 pages was to show that nadia feels like margaret is the only person she can trust. all of a sudden she’s cool with her being evil??? make it make sense! you could see throughout the rest of the book that nadia was building up her Wrong Thoughts. sooooo much time was spent on it and we actually saw the development of how nadia felt. but to have her switch all that on a dime so that she can have her Right Thoughts now??? just in time for the Boss Battle? it just feels so unearned, since there’s nothing building to it. she just . . . changes her mind.
i also feel like writing a book where the protagonist, where the person whose perspective we’re following, is being MIND-CONTROLLED, but not revealing that mind control until the 11th hour (to validate the sudden switch from Wrong Thoughts to Right Thoughts) was just. a bit weird. i’m 22, but if i was reading this as a teenager, i’m not sure i would’ve quite gotten that the WHOLE BOOK was now being told by an unreliable narrator, with absolutely zero reliable information as a base (except the comics, of course).
ON PAGE 274. THERE IS ONE MENTION OF SHAY MAKING HER TELEPORTER PORTABLE. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE FEAT OF SCIENCE AND SO GREAT FOR SHAY WHY WAS THIS NOT EXPANDED ON IN THE SLIGHTEST????
alright, time to talk about the nadia-being-ace thing. so, ever since i started reading unstoppable wasp, i’ve interpreted nadia as aroace. her version of friendships, her attempts to change the topic when romance for herself is brought up--these are all very authentically ace experiences. and that was okay for me to just have her coded that way! the writer of the comics, jeremy whitley, has included TWO (2!!!) ace characters in his raven pirate princess series so i definitely allowed myself to entertain the idea that the ace aspects of nadia were intentional. i was also okay with it not being explicitly mentioned in the comics--sure it would’ve been cool, but i understand that there are 18 issues TOTAL and it would be hard to fit the entirety of nadia’s story in there. BUT, when the author of this book mentioned that nadia was ace, and jeremy whitley confirmed that he’d been writing her as ace, it was awesome and super validating!! first of all, nadia being the first canonically ace marvel character--even just by word of god--is so freaking incredible and just adds to my enjoyment of the story. i’m very glad that we got confirmation and that i can continue reading the comics knowing, at the very least, that my ace reading of them is backed up by the canon (!!!!!). however, the author of this novel 100% used it as a marketing tactic which is super shitty. i was obviously going to read it anyway, since it was about nadia, but i do know people who bought it specifically because the author mentioned nadia being ace. and there was maybe one throwaway line in the novel about how nadia was only interested in romance ~theoretically.~ that’s not rep. in fact, it’s even lessrep than the comics, which represented nadia being ace (at least in my opinion) far more authentically than this novel did. i’d honestly even go so far as to say it was riiiight up against the line of queerbaiting--yes nadia is canonically queer, but only by word of mouth, and it’s not mentioned even once in the story. that’s bad. using ace people for marketing--baiting them into buying your book on the promise of rep which we already have so little of--is so so shitty. yes, i am glad that we got that confirmation from jeremy whitley who never used this to promote the comics and didn’t even mention it until now, but i genuinely cannot believe that this author (who is bi! i checked her twitter!) effectively used it to market her awful book. honestly if the book weren’t bad enough already, to add this on top of it is even WORSE.
in the same vein, the author mentioned ying and shay being in a wlw relationship in the same interview where she mentioned nadia being ace. ying and shay are barely in the novel and EVEN WORSE, their relationship is kind of treated as an “obstacle” that nadia and the other g.i.r.l.s have to overcome in order to start working as a unit again. also bad!!!!!
okay. i think i’ve got this and one more bullet point, so we’ll see how it goes. but the way that the science in this book was handled was atrocious. sure, we had the cute science facts, but there is one (1) paragraph on page 311 about the g.i.r.l.s doing science for the sake of doing science and helping their community. IN THE WHOLE BOOK. you know a great way to demonstrate to women that they shouldn’t go into stem fields? write a cautionary book about the ~dangers of ai and data collection~ AS IF ANYONE LIVING IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW DOESN’T KNOW THAT SHIT. jesus fucking christ. the comics showed all of this great science by the way of the g.i.r.l.s papers, shay making her teleporter at home, defusing the bomb in ying’s head, recreating the vision gloves, tai’s sports robots . . . this book had NONE of that. it literally just had the evils that we see in the news EVERY DAY. that’s not what you show people to get them excited, and i find it really fucking weird that ANYONE greenlit a book about characters who support and encourage women to go into stem fields with the overall message of “science bad!” like. how the fuck was this plot approved. in the women of marvel interview, the author claims that she’s written about women in science before--and i believe her. i just don’t think that she’s ever actually spoken to a woman in science.
and lastly, i have a huge issue with the role of hope in the book. by that, i mean that the novel is called “built on hope” but hope is literally never a theme throughout the book? so yet another instance of the book building off the comics without any form of payoff. the unstoppable wasp comics are kind, and loving, and hopeful. this book is callous and condescending and seems more concerned with its sassy one-liners about white dudes and ham-fisted pop culture references than LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE, including hope. nadia claims to love her friends but spends the majority of the book shitting on them. nadia lies to janet to “avoid hurting her” but the end of unstoppable wasp 10 showed the flip side of the situation where nadia and jan realize that although janet was hiding the truth about hank from nadia, nadia wanted to hear the information anyway!! and i just--WHY would you take a character who has been explicitly used in the past to introduce girls to women in stem (the interviews with real people in the back of the comics!) AND THEN WRITE HER INTO A FUCKING CAUTIONARY “TECHNOLOGY BAD” STORY??? it’s SO discordant with the comics and i genuinely hope that anyone reading this book goes and read the comics themselves, which are incredible and a bajillion times better than this book in all aspects. i’m finishing this “review” a lot more fired up then when i started typing it but i honestly can’t believe that marvel greenlit THIS and not like. 2 more comics.
so, yeah, those are my thoughts. kudos to anyone who actually made it through the whole thing (if anyone does), it’s egregiously long but i needed to put my thoughts somewhere! tldr: i will not be recommending this to my mom.

Why Rooster Teeth Aren't Queerbaiting with B*mbleby (and Why They Won't Keep Teasing Blacks*n As Well)
This is going to be my last somewhat salty post for a while, because I want to have a fun time this hiatus enjoying the nice wholesome parts of this fandom and being hyped for Volume 7 instead of dwelling on the garbage parts of it. But I'm aware that there is a small contingent of people who still think that Rooster Teeth are just queerbaiting with BB for various reasons, and I want to address that.
There are numerous factors that mean it is incredibly unlikely that Rooster Teeth are queerbaiting with BB. For a start, let's consider their track record in RWBY with LGBT+ representation.
Pilot Boi. He was originally planned to be revealed as gay but they removed the line because he died in the same episode and they didn't want that to be the first open LGBT+ rep in the show.
Ilia. The first canon LGBT+ character. Even though she starts as an antagonist it's made very clear in the show that her feelings for Blake are not in any way part of her motivation for the questionable acts she takes part in--if anything her feelings for Blake are presented as partially influencing her to do the right thing--and even though there is a clear moment where she could have been killed off in V5C10 she not only lives but redeems herself and is a valuable asset at the Battle of Haven.
The Cotta-Arcs. Happily married same-sex couple with a lovely child who willingly help the protagonists out.
Scarlet as revealed in the manga and later confirmed canon, plus either Coco or Yatsuhashi as will be made official in the After the Fall novel. Much smaller examples but they show that RT aren't hesitant about adding more LGBT+ characters.
This should make it fairly clear that RT have taken a very positive approach to LGBT+ rep in RWBY so far. They've proven that they want to handle it well, and so it would be frankly ridiculous if they suddenly dropped the ball so completely with BB.
And that's the thing. Almost everyone at RT has been vocally supportive of BB. Both Miles and Kerry have said they like the ship, Arryn and Barb have been on board since basically the beginning, and even the friggin' CEO is Tweeting about how RT is "a fan of any project involving a Bumblebee" now. The RT podcasts recently have been full of unnecessary teasing about "bizzy buzzy friends" and how "[Yang] threw both Bumblebees in [Adam's] face" and "some things were planned from the beginning."
There was a goddamn Valentine's Day card and the other cards in the set had canon couples from RT's other shows.
Not to mention Kerry's comment to "watch the show and find out" because "it's going to be in the show" when he was asked if Blake and Yang are now a couple. That's literally code for "yes, but I don't want to spoil it, so wait and see it with everyone else." If it wasn’t happening then why wouldn’t you take that obvious chance to say so and avoid the inevitable huge backlash you would get if you don’t shut it down?
Nearly all of this has been around the end of V6 and since then, which makes it pretty obvious that RT have changed their approach to talking about BB. They've always been open about being fans of it, but they never hyped it up even remotely this much before even though it's been one of the most popular ships basically since the start. That should tell you that there's a reason for the sudden overwhelming focus on BB from them, and it's because it's happening.
RWBY's an extremely popular show, but BB is far from the only cause of that, and so they simply don't need to bait the LGBT+ viewers to maintain their audience. The tiny number of people who will drop the show over it being canon will be easily made up by new viewers drawn in by such a great canon LGBT+ relationship between two main characters.
To summarise so far, even if their excellent backlog of LGBT+ rep in the show isn't enough to convince you, then there's the fact that it flat out doesn't make any business sense for RT to queerbait with BB, because the shitstorm that would follow if they did would be so much worse than a minuscule amount of pathetic homophobic whining.
And I haven't even covered the most blatant reason why they aren't queerbaiting with BB. Not only do a number of LGBT+ people work at Rooster Teeth--including Arryn and Lindsay, two members of the main cast--but it's patently ludicrous to think that Arryn, a bisexual woman, would knowingly bait her own LGBT+ fanbase. It's not a coincidence that she's talking about BB like it's canon now when she was also the one to warn people that the song Bmblb didn't automatically make it canon a couple of years ago. It's because she knows it's happening; hell, she literally said she checked with the writers that it was before freaking out over it.
In conclusion, there is absolutely no logical reason why RT would queerbait with BB, so the chances of them doing so are infinitesimally small. They very clearly want to do right by their LGBT+ fanbase, and they've passed the point where BB could not happen without it being queerbaiting. They didn't need to hype it up so much over the past few months, but they did, and there's a reason for it (and it's not that they're baiting).
If you're an LGBT+ person or BB fan who was worried that it could be a queerbait, I hope this helps reassure you.
And if you're someone who claims that RT is queerbaiting simply because you don't want BB to be canon no matter what, then quite honestly it is disgusting that you would hope for an underrepresented community of people to be wilfully hurt in that way, and you should be ashamed that you want Rooster Teeth to sink to the same level as you. I'm sorry if you don't like B*mbleby, but that isn't an excuse to wish that kind of harm on RWBY's LGBT+ fans.
Finally, I want to quickly tear down the idea that RT are just going to keep teasing both BB and BS without committing to either one. Nope, that ain't gonna happen either. The backing for BS doesn't even begin to compare to the backing for BB in canon, and given Miles has liked several Tweets about how pointless ship wars/people attacking each other over ships is it seems pretty clear that RT are as tired of the drama surrounding it as most of the fandom.
Only one of those two ships is going to be made canon, and it won't be Blacks*n. So love it or hate it, accept it or scream random bullshit about it to make yourself feel better - BB is what's happening, and at this point nothing is going to change that.

Alita: Battle Angel Review
Rating: 6.75/10
Recommend?: I would not give a hard recommend or not recommend for this one. Yes, if you like impressive futuristic visuals and androids/A.I. constructs exploring humanity. No, if you dislike violence and gore.
Summary: I saw Alita: Battle Angel yesterday. It was my first new movie of the year, and I have really been looking forward to it. I had seen some mixed reviews prior to seeing it, and I largely agree with them. There were some really high points, some mediocre points, and some bad points. The best parts of the movie were Rosa Salazar’s performance as Alita and the visual effects. For that reason, if you have any interest in the movie, I would recommend seeing it in theaters because I feel it would lose something on a small screen. One warning: this is definitely the most brutal and gruesome PG-13 movie I have seen in a long time if you are sensitive to that. I had to double-check to make sure that it wasn’t R-rated before writing this.
More details and spoilers under the cut.
-          I’ll start with the positive, the visuals and world building were really spectacular. Everything was well realized. The CGI blend with the real-life pieces was seamless. Alita in particular looked so real to me. The details of her hair, skin, and tears were absolutely fantastic.
-          Rosa Salazar was just in general really strong as Alita. She did a good job of displaying a variety of emotions as she went from having no idea who she was to falling in love to remembering her past as a fierce warrior and more. She fully embodied the character, and I felt for her throughout the entire movie, even as my opinion about everything else began to go downhill a bit.
-          I thought they did a good job of showing that Alita was unfamiliar with the world and was discovering many new things that most people considered commonplace without turning her into the butt of a joke. Her childlike enthusiasm throughout the first part of the movie was charming and endearing.
-          I also liked how no one ever questioned her humanity. The writers made it very clear from the very beginning that she had real human emotions and was just as complex an entity as any person.
-          There was a cool cameo in the final shot that surprised me. It is obvious sequel bait.
-          Now for the mediocre to negative elements. I also want to say that I have no familiarity with the manga that the movie is based on, so I’m not sure how much of my criticism is due to adaptation concerns. This is a reason some things should not necessarily be made into movies.
-          Most of the rest of the characters and performances were perfectly serviceable, but not particularly memorable.
-          This brings me to the romantic subplot. This is an area that I saw receive significant criticism. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I am in general very partial to romantic subplots, so YMMV. I thought the relationship was cute. There was also a moment that I am always weak for, when Hugo (the love interest) touched Alita’s cheek and Alita covered his hand with hers. I melted at that part. That being said, I do not think the relationship was compelling enough to ship outside of watching the movie. Rosa Salazar sold this relationship well, but I didn’t really feel the chemistry between the two actors. While the movie did contain a number of moments that you would expect to see in a romantic subplot, it felt more like the writers were going through the motions of a romance than were really writing the romance for those specific characters.
-          A few more words about Hugo. I didn’t care for the reveal that he was working to hunt cyborgs for parts. It felt too cliché and obvious. While he eventually displayed some remorse for his actions, I felt that he was a little too defensive about it. Also, the fact that he survived having his head cut clean off with zero brain damage strained credulity, even for a movie like this. Then, to have him get a new body only to fall from an extreme height to his (presumable) death like 10 minutes later was ridiculous. They should have just had him die the first time.
-          While Rosa Salazar’s performance was overall positive and this complaint is down to the writers, the several dramatic shifts in her personality throughout the movie didn’t feel like a person learning new emotions as she recovered her memories and went through traumatic events. It felt more like the writers just changed her personality according to the various plot requirements at different points in the narrative.
-          Another thing that really bothered me is some of the sex-tinged attitudes that other characters had toward Alita. There was nothing too explicit, but the discomfort is down mainly to her age. Her age is a tricky thing because on the one hand, she is several hundred years, but she also has no memories of her past life at the beginning. I don’t know what age the filmmakers were aiming for her to look like, but in my opinion, she was coded as 14-16 years old. So watching much older characters semi-flirt with her or look at her in a sexually aggressive way was distasteful.
-          The final point I want to discuss is the violence of the movie. After leaving the theater, I was kind of shocked that the MPAA allowed it to be rated PG-13. I am sure the only reason for that is that most of the characters were cyborgs and had largely robotic bodies. However, I still think it arguably should have been rated R because there was dismemberment throughout the movie, several characters were cut in half, some characters were crushed, with fluids analogous to blood flowing out of them, and there was a scene showing exposed body parts. This brutality was not limited to one scene, but was scattered throughout the movie so it would be difficult to look away or avoid it.

http://nerdgasrnz.tumblr.com/post/168146804389/you-bigoted-geek-ass-homophobic-transphobic
Old post I know but-
Point still needs to be made.
You bigoted geek-ass homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist MOTHERFUCKERS still don’t understand what the problem is, do you?
Looks like you’re finally getting some self awareness.
Oh wait, you’re not talking about yourself? Huh.
This is not the “rwde community” looking to tear RWBY to shreds ever since Monty died or whatever bullshit excuses you keep coming up with everytime ppl critique this cartoon
My past two years say the exact opposite and what should I trust: my instincts or a liar?
This is the fact that REAL LGBT people watch this show; real NON-WHITE people watch this show; real WOMEN watch this show, and WOMEN are the literal lead characters of this show. But those parts of the audience wind up disappointed with the lack of care, consideration, or prioritization in this weak-ass writing, where only the art and animation salvage it.
Heh...
Then why are some of the most prominent fans of the community LGBT, Non-white and/or women? I mean, surely if this was handled so poorly they wouldn’t be so prominent. Unless of course, the issue isn’t with the show but a certain group of people with a similar thought process (that being “If it doesn’t pander to me, it’s bigotry!.’)
Diversity isn’t a fucking myth like you think just because you have less social aptitude than a fucking rock, or because you refuse to interact with anyone that isn’t the same as you.
Says the woman who rejects other LGBT/non white people for not thinking exactly like her.
Monty was GENTLY asked in a post-show interview if there’d be LGBT+ rep in RWBY, and he confirmed yes. That was 2014.
And he also fucked over his own show numerous times. He wasn’t exactly a good writer so him saying that would have probably resulted in a ham fisted, out of place moment of gay angst that would never be mentioned ever again.
What Miles Luna, Kerry Shawcross, and Gray Haddock have done, instead of giving us a named PROTAGONIST character to be the first instance of that rep, they made the first openly gay character a VILLAIN. (no, Matte Sky does not count bc the VOICE ACTOR named them, not the creators)
You mean the single sympathetic villain who would later get a redemption arc among the other straight villians who are portrayed as irredeemable and monstrous *cough* ADAM *cough*.
Oh no, how terrible. You get a complex and well written character instead of the edgelord.
Nothing is groundbreaking about that trash. LGBT+ historians and fandoms have noted that in the media, villains were portrayed as gay, trans, or implied as such for YEARS. (it’s called “queercoding”)
And that’s called ‘bullshit’ because coding is only ever brought up in subjective ways.
Not only that: You were never promised something GROUND BREAKING. Show me where it was said that.
Monty was GENTLY asked by fans at a convention when more brown characters would be in RWBY. He confirmed that Sun and Velvet have “cool” dark-skinned teammates. That was 2013. (after an animation panel at Supanova)
So no, this isn’t just “rabid tumblrinas” hounding the creators for the sake of being special snowflakes like you fucking think. These are real fucking people who love the soul of this show but don’t actually SEE THEMSELVES IN IT. And Monty, rest his soul, was so excited and earnest in wanting to be inclusive so this show could be shared and loved by more people.
Yeah and Miles and Kerry get death threats over this. That was proven in 2018. I could not care less.
And here’s the deal: If you cannot relate to a character because they do not share the same skin color as you, you do not DESERVE a character to relate to. Because creators are suppose to make compelling characters and skin color is NOT COMPELLING. Expecting me to find a character compelling because they are white is honestly INSULTING to me.
But the fact is that it’s not as inclusive as it could be. Even when he was alive, he made missteps too. And it’s not even like it’d be a big deal to fix. But hateful people go out of their way EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. to make it seem like it’d be such a lorebreaking addition to make a character brown, gay, or trans.
The fact that ‘it’s not as inclusive as it could have be’ is a flaw shows you do not actually care about the show. Because you care SO LITTLE about the show actually being good you try to prioritize something COMPLETELY DIVORCED from quality above all else.
And no one wanted them to just do it because it was not the right fucking time or place. Imagine a character in Berserk went off on a tangent about how gay they are. That’d be pretty cringy right? Now think of that same thing in MHA. Not even bad now is it? Because one is not built to support this and the other CAN support it.
Honestly, the way they handled Illa, from a purely writing standpoint, is the best way they could have gone about it. It’s used to emphasize her pain with Blake and quickly takes a backburner for Illa’s more personal and universal issues. They showed it was athing before moving onto more pressing matters.
It makes absolutely ZERO SENSE how a FANTASY REALM can be lacking so much variety in terms of its inhabitants. And Diversity is an AFTERTHOUGHT. Or a “lorebreaker” (remember the homophobic “how would you show gay characters? just have them make out during the chaos? That’d make no sense!” argument? Fun times!!!)
Damn near every single piece of fanart about Illa emphasizes her being gay, apparently that was an informed guess on their part. And honestly ticks me off since Illa is so much more than that.
How many times do we have to sift through the garbage comments on fanart (FAN ART!!!) of Blake being portrayed as black, as if that’s some huge leap from what she could have represented in the first place?
Representation doesn't matter here, it's the fact that these designs usually look like shit because the people making don’t care about good character design and use dark skin on a design that is built around light skin. It’s like if someone made a light skinned Emerald-it would look fucking awful.
How many times do ppl turn a blind eye to femslash fanart of team RWBY but suddenly complain when someone mentions the notion of one of the characters in team RWBY actually being canonically gay? Or bi? Or pan? Anything outside or in-between?
Never. I have literally never seen that happened. I’ve seen people be called homophobic for shipping straight ships before I say this.
Hateful people are like “u should be thankful” when they’re having a buffet of representation and we only get, not just breadcrumbs, but moldy ones that the ants are crawling on. Then, when we make our own stuff to satisfy us (again: FAN ART! FANFIC! HEADCANONS!!!) they’re suddenly so defensive and wanna police our shit???
A. Nobody has ever just eaten certain foods because of their color,
B. You actively REFUSE to accept any character that isn’t EXACTLY like you and proceed to try to hurt REAL PEOPLE over this. Mold crumbs with ants on them is more than you deserve, honestly STRAVATION is more than you deserve.
C. Making fanart and fanfics that are fundamentally WORSE than canon and calling it ‘fixed’ or ‘improved’ like these people always do is insulting. You are actively pissing people off.
Oh and D. I have seen people ATTACK OTHERS over them not following their headcanons.
RWBY’s first dark-skinned character was a villain. That’s not representation, that reinforces racist beliefs that black people are thugs and thieves that can’t be trusted and need to be put down.
Yes, a dark skinned character with understandable motives, symapethic beliefs and conflcits about her actions.
Meanwhile, the white guy Adam is portrayed as an edgelord monster who seeks genocide and talks like a Nazi.
RWBY’s first openly GAY character is a villain. That’s NOT representation. That reinforces homophobic beliefs that lesbians are predatory temptresses that seduce your daughters and sisters to lead them down a path of hellfire and brimstone.
Yes, the sympathetic lesbian who has shown more love and care and respect for Blake than her straight abusive boyfriend.
Adam pretty much exists to DISPROVE your shit on this front. All the bullshit you complain about in Illa ACTUALLY EXISTS in Adam except WORSE.
RWBY has been making transphobic jokes since volume 1 (Penny’s “*gasp* Is she a man?” reference to Blake) Those jokes reinforce the transphobic belief that trans people wear disguises to bait unassuming people so that they can harm them eventually.
A. Name me a single trans person who said that, let alone enough people for me to even consider that.
And B. Adam is cisgendered and a genocidial Nazi. Good luck beating that.
It’s not rocket science. Rooster Teeth’s animated show, “RWBY” has a problem not just with it’s writing, but with diversity. Pure and simple. And this show has had since 2014 to improve. But you’re still surprised that some of us are fucking mad.
And yet every single example you gave not only doesn’t work but would set a standard for STRAIGHT WHITE PEOPLE to complain about their representation.
You and everyone in RWDE are mad because you WANT to be mad. It justifies the immoral bullshit you pull on a daily basis...
Huh, exactly like Adam.
Guess you guys ARE represented after all. And quite accurately.

Warnings: SLIGHT CURSING
________
“Joe, don’t try and put the puppy in the pool.” I laughed shaking my head at my four year old son.
Yes, son.
I got pregnant for the second time, a little over six years after me and Roman began dating.
And about three years after we got married.
Our little Joesph made us parents of two.
When I found we were having a son, naming him after his wonderful dad was a no brainer.
He smiled innocently taking his hands of the puppy. “Okay mommy.”
I swear that smile is identical to Roman’s.
“Babe, were back.” My husband said creeping up behind me.
Did I think him up or what?
I leaned up giving him a kiss, then looked over at my teenage daughter. “How was the trip?”
My curiosity was nipping at my being so of course that’s what came out of my mouth next.
I just had to know how everything went with Dean.
“It was great. Right dad?” Brielle answered first shooting a look at her dad.
Roman nodded, shooting one back. “From what I heard it was.”
Are they speaking in some kind of code?
By now, Joe had come over.
“Daddy. Bri” He energetically spoke hugging running from one to the other, giving each of them hugs.
Bri giggled picking up her little brother. “Hey munchkin.”
Since they were occupied I set my sights on Roman.
“So the trip was just ‘great’?” I asked again putting an emphasis on great.
I know they’re beating around the bush for something.
The both of them made that obvious with their one sentence reply.
Not that you can’t just sum something up into one sentence, but if it was so great why not tell me more?
Roman nodded. “Yeah, I guess so, like I said Bri was all smiles on the way back. I actually did my own thing and dropped her off. But yeah, doesn’t seem like she has regrets.” He suddenly lowered his voice. “Oh and she invited him to come out to Florida, on the 10th or 11th, something like that.”
The fuck?
“What?” I actually said, keeping it PG in front of the kids.
My husband just nodded.
“Please tell me you mean like Florida as in maybe Disney World or anywhere else.”
This time he shook his head. “No, I mean Florida, as in here.” He said pointing to the ground. “Our place.”
I bit down hard on my lip trying to contain a scream.
Hopefully not hard enough to draw blood though.
“Kids, me and your dad’s gonna go inside for a minute.” I then looked at my daughter. “Keep an eye on your brother for me.”
She quickly nodded.
I don’t know why I had to tell her that, of course she’ll watch Joe knowing he was around the pool but it’s just the way of a mother I suppose.
But you never know with teens.
They’ll hear a beep on their phones then, attentions focused on some text.
Honestly I did the same with Roman and he was, is a grown man.
As Roman and I stepped inside the house, I guided him to a corner so the kids wouldn’t see us through the sliding doors.
“How the fuck do you just let a sixteen year old dictate who can come to our house?” I said swatting his arm, out of rage.
It’s not like it hurt him though, as muscular as Roman is it probaly didn’t even make a sting.
“That’s how, Y/N. You said it yourself, Bri is sixteen. Seventeen in less than a week. It was her decision. She wants to spend a birthday with her dad.”
“You’re her dad. Legally.” I said, or bitched considering how mean that might have come off.
But he is, he’s been her legal dad almost ten years now.
He was quicker to adopt her, than he was to marry me.
Roman nodded. “I know that, believe me. But whether we like it or not, she bonded with Dean those few hours I was gone. Enough for her to even call him Dad, so there’s nothing to be done about this Y/N. She wants him around for her birthday, and if things continue to go right, maybe even, cheer competitions if he can fly out and graduation. Bri might even invite him to her wedding whenever that is. And you know there’s not a damn thing we can do about that. She will be fully grown, in her twenties or whatever, making her life choices…”
He paused, taking a breath or making sure I was following.
“…The point in trying to make is, I wasn’t going to cause some unnecessary argument over him coming out next week, babe. And I won’t for whatever else she invites him to. I’ll grit my teeth and suck it up with the best smile i could fake. Cause you never know, if we try to convince her not to let him in, maybe she’ll stop letting us in. Then there won’t be a wedding for us to look to in the years to come.”
Why is he always so mature about things like this?
I hate it sometimes.
Because I come off as the childish parent.
“So, she’s already calling him dad?”
That’s not all I took from Roman’s speech but I’m just curious as to what my husband’s feelings are about that.
He’s been Dad since she was just a little energetic six year old and all in the span of what, three days, he has to hear her go on about another dad?
Roman sighed nodded. “But it’s not as bad as you think. I was worried I was losing my baby girl, but she reassured me that I’m not being pushed to the back. I just have to share now.” He finished with a chuckle, making me giggle.
“I don’t know if I could be so mature about that, or any of this.” I reached up pulling his face down to me. “Thank you Ro.” I said giving him a passionate kiss.
He smiled pulling away slowly. “You know, deep down I’m kinda anxious in a good way for him to come for a few days, to be able to talk. I miss my lunatic buddy.”
“Oh, you want to talk next week but you didn’t get out the car when you were at his house?” I questioned smirking.
“Hey.” Roman said playfully offended. “I wanted to see how things went with Brielle and him first.”
Um, hm.
“So, you used out child as bait?”
Roman cupped my face into his large hands. “Stop twisting my words or else in gonna throw you in the pool.” He finished, picking me up.
I squealed. “Roman don’t.”
But he just made his way outside anyways.
“Kids, tell your dad to put me down.” I said, begging for help, getting it in the form of a four year old.
“Put mommy down.” Joseph said grabbing onto his dad’s leg.
Roman obeyed, putting me down. Then turned around picking Joe up. “Fine then you’re going in.” He said going over to the pool with our son.
Giggling, I yelled out a quick 'be careful’ then looked at Bri. “So, Dean’s coming out for a few days?”
She bit her lip. “Dad told you?”
“Yep.” I replied then smiled hugging her. “But I’m fine with that. If you think it’s a good idea, that is.”
Brielle returned the hug. “I really do, mom. Dad, told me some things that went on, and I just don’t see him as that immature person he was sixteen years ago. He was already a grown up, but I really do think he’s done more growing. He’s even married now.”
I took in a breath, nodding.
I truly hope he is, because even though me and Dean had our issues, I’m willing to put the past behind me if he’s willing to do the same.

At worst, take this as a bit of fandom history?
Alright I’m pretty tired but it finally hit me that some antis legitimately believe that people are shipping a 25yo with teenagers and I’m still a bit dumbstruck. Then I mused a bit and realized it’s probably a fandom background/generational kind of thing, and this post was born. I’d appreciate if you read through it, and if you want I'm always open for discussion as long as it’s civil.
There’s two main points I want to make on this post:
1) Creators’ words outside of the source content being automatically “canon” is a fairly recent thing. As in, last 2-to-5 years recent, and in new fandoms only. It’s not global.
If you go back to older and not-so-older fandoms, you'll see that most of them disregard stuff the creators have said outside of the source material or even source material content if it’s OOC, illogical, contradicts previous canon, etc. If a showrunner or a writer said something in a convention or in an interview, this wasn’t taken as canon and people didn’t assume that other people would know and adopt this information as official content, for a multitude of reasons.
We’re talking about creators queerbaiting/colourbaiting and saying or teasing outside of the books/shows/etc that a character was LGBT+ or Latin@ or something of the sort and getting kudos for being inclusive without any of the backlash.
We’re talking about creators saying all sorts of canon-contradicting bullshit outside of the source material just because, or because they couldn’t even be bothered to keep up with the material they were supposed to be writing for.
We’re talking about something having multiple creators and each having different views on the content and contradicting each other and even the very source material.
We’re talking about creators taking a look at the headcanons and ships the fandom was creating and not liking them and doing everything to squash them to the ground.
I could cite a few examples, starting from queerbaiting on shows like Supernatural and Sherlock, the whole thing with Moffat and Doctor Who, Butch Hartman downright banning people and shutting down all LGBT+ headcanons and ships he sees of his shows for over a decade now, writers and producers Bryke for A:TLA stiffling the other writers and the pre-planned progression of the show in favour of their ship, even stuff like (NSFW) JK Rowling going ahead and tweeting that group masturbatory sessions in the Hogwarts dorms were a thing.
None of this is particularly new. Creators putting stuff out there outside of the published material has been going on for as long as anything resembling fandom has existed. I’ve gone a bit more into this and the Death of the Author trope here.
Something that has also been going on as long as this is fandom creators taking all this, ignoring it, and doing their own thing. Creators say a character is definitely, for-sure, no take-backsies cis and straight? Nope. Trans and gay. Non-binary and ace. I’ve seen y’all doing this with Pidge even though she’s the one character to have canonly (in the source material) come out as any gender at all. Hermione has mentioned to be pale and to tan in the books? Let’s make her black. Alya’s family is from Martinique? Cool, it aligns with my headcanons but I’m not gonna push it into anyone else. Trans!Danny Fenton has been shut down by the creator in social media so hard you got whiplash? Keep putting him in binders, my dudes. This spreads to stuff like what the characters like to do for fun or their favourite colour or their birthdays. (you will pry hunk being cancer from my cold, dead hands.) Or, you know, ages.
People used to be legitimately sued and doxxed for writing fanfiction at all because it deviated from the creator’s original vision, the likes of Anne Rice making people afraid to post fanfiction for years, so that we’ve come this far and that we’re able to headcanon and take creative liberties with other people’s characters or worlds speaks a lot. This isn’t just about social justice and inclusivity. Extra skills for a characters? AU fics? Couldn’t. Coffeeshop slowburns included, considering it ruins the “integrity” of their work.
You see where I’m going with this, and this leads us to my second point.
2) Your opinions and feelings aren’t invalid, but I’ve met nearly no shaladin/pidge shippers who took the general ages lineup as canon. Though, to be fair, i don’t deal with all of them so I’m generalizing things a bit. You’ll notice I won’t mention She!th and that’s because I haven’t interacted with them.
I can assure you right now that, for example, Shidge shippers in general are grossed out at even thinking of a 14/25yo relationship. A good portion of them are even CSA survivors or minors, so you can see how much they’d like the mere idea of it. Shunk and Shance shippers, from what I’ve seen, don’t tend to roll with the “canon” ages either. If you’d like to argue that Shiro is coded as a clear adult or that Pidge is coded as a kid as opposed to the other paladins being late teens, I’ve argued against that in my comments here so feel free to take a look. If you’d still like to contest another point, I am more than willing to discuss your point and make my own.
I can sum up one half of this point like this: show a shaladin/pidge shipper a 14/25yo relationship, and they think it’s gross. A good portion think the same of 16/17/25. That they’re shipping shaladin/pidge ships regardless just comes to show that they really don’t see the age lineup as an actual thing.
You have all the right to still feel uncomfortable with these ships or dislike them, though! It’s not for me to tell people what to like or not, nor to decide what affects them and their personal experiences or not. You also have the right to keep thinking that the age lineup is official and canon!
Picture the “creator’s word is canon” debacle like this: for me, the sea is blue. For you, the sea is green. Why? It depends on the depth of the waters, the weather, the environment beneath the waves, pollution degrees, etc. Neither of us is wrong here, but it depends on our own experiences and perceptions. In this case, those factors would be these: fandom background, personal opinions, previous headcanons, your own cultural background, and degrees to which you relate to a character. With a bonus of whether you think the creator is the worst thing since standardized testing or not, for some fandoms.
I’ve explained the fandom background on my previous point, but here’s a tl;dr: on recent fandoms and for people new to fandom, what the creators say goes; with less recent fandoms and fans, people do their own thing and only adopt what is said in the source content as canon, with the rest being taken as strong headcanons but not official canon. There are fans who even ignore sequels or certain episodes of their source materials due to it not fitting their standards.
This, coupled with the rest, obviously brings clashes of opinions, and sadly enough harrassment from both parts. Yes, I’m not discounting that there are shippers that are downright nasty, it’s a terrible reality we don’t have control over. We’re not a hive mind, and neither are you.
I’m not writing this to get any of you to ship or not ship a thing. I just want people to know where others are coming from, and you should respect other people’s history, culture, and experiences regardless of your opinion on the ships or on whether what creator’s say outside of the source material is canon or not.
Throwing around suicide-baiting and harmful terms such as ‘pedophilia’ is unarguably not a good thing, especially when you’re attacking minors and csa survivors along the way. You need to respect that not everyone has the same background as you, and as such the age lineup isn’t canon for a good portion of the fandom and this does not make them pedophiles or supporters or anything resembling that.
Respect. Other. People’s. Backgrounds.

Hey there! Since you're one of not so many people on this site whose opinion I actually hold in high regard, I've been meaning to ask you about your honest opinion on YOI. Do you think it's a good show, objectively speaking? Does it deserve/live up to the hype it's been getting? Is it really as revolutionary and progressive as its fans claim it to be? Is vict/uuri really canon and not just another case of queerbaiting? What are your thoughts on the fandom (isn't it too much of a hivemind etc.)?
Oh my god Anon, you really want me to write a book or something here. Holy shit. Well, let’s get to it. Most, if not all, the opinion I’m going to share are (apart from obviously personal opinions) going to be… well, probably not really pleasant from a y//oi fan’s perspective. I’m not going to insult it, but I’m not going to praise it either, so, my ramblings will be under the cut.
Do you think it’s a good show, objectively speaking?
Okay, trying to be as objective as possible: as an anime in general, compared to every other anime show out there, no, it’s not; as a sport anime, it’s an okay one. It’s not a shitty show either way, but honestly if you want to consider it in general it’s a mediocre lighthearted slice of life/sport show with a kinda nice character design, a lot of fanservice (a pretty common thing in sports animes) a pretty common plot (no plot twists, no particularly interesting plot points, you know where it’s going right from the beginning) that relies a lot on its characters who are not always up to the task. It’s not exactly bad, but it has quite a lot of problems, from the animation (which is understandable, seeing it was low budget, but it’s still a flaw), to the characterization (which is a bit superficial and partly inconsistent, probably for time reasons, but even if this was the best that could be achieved in 12 episodes – and that’s debatable – again, it’s still a flaw) to the completely anticlimactic and chaotic episode 12 (seriously, I was never put off by a final episode as I was by that one?).
Did I enjoy it? Yes, up to episode 8/9 you can say I enjoyed it, and quite a lot too, especially in the beginning. I found it funny and entertaining.
Do I think it deserves to be called “best show of whatever-you-want”? Not at all. Because it has a lot of flaws, and even if it didn’t the plot is still too ordinary and uninspired for me to hail it as a masterpiece.
Does it deserve/live up to the hype it’s been getting?
Very popular things rarely live up to the hype for everyone; it obviously depends on the person’s standards. I think that if someone enjoys the slice of life/sports genre, and it’s generally a fan of m/m ships, they can appreciate it, but considering how much hype it gets, I don’t think it lives up to the hype most of the time, except if the person is really inexperienced with animes in general or just doesn’t have high standards and just wants to enjoy a funny and lighthearted show without putting too much thought into it. (And that’s perfectly okay).
About whether it deserves it, well, that’s very debatable, but in my opinion you can’t really say that something deserves the hype it gets. Hype is not a sign of quality so you can’t determine if something deserves it based on its quality. If it gets this much hype it means it has been advertised in a good way, aimed at the right target, it has pleased the fans in the right way, etc. Plus it means that the show’s producers had a good share of luck. Y//oi probably had all that, that doesn’t say much about its quality.
Is it really as revolutionary and progressive as its fans claim it to be?
No, there’s nothing revolutionary about y//oi. I don’t really need to even elaborate on this, because the burden of proof in this case lies with people who say that it’s revolutionary. I still have to see why.
Is vict/uuri really canon and not just another case of queerbaiting?
On one side I pretty much believed it was going to be officially canon up to the Barcelona episode. But I swear the ring scene was a big let down for me, and everything from there on out was just… idk, underwhelming. For me at least.
As for if it’s canon or not, it really depends on what you define as canon. Do the words of the author have value? And if they don’t, how do you decide whose interpretation is “more canon”?
Apparently the official position of the writers is that every interpretation is fine, which is a nice way to say that no interpretation is canon. That’s the official position. And even the show is ambiguous in this regard, simultaneously hinting and downplaying their relationship. Nonetheless, I definitely saw “something more” between them, so if it was up to my interpretation I would say that they’re canon. But my interpretation is just as valid as the one of someone who says they’re not, and this is because their relationship was willfully portrayed as ambiguous. In fact, this is why it perfectly fits the definition of queer baiting:
queer baiting (or queerbaiting) is a term used to describe the perceived attempt by canon creators (typically of television shows) to woo queer fans and/or slash fans, but with no intention of actually showing a gay relationship being consummated on screen. This is done either by introducing a character whose sexuality seems, early on, to be coded as something other than one hundred percent heterosexual, or by indicating – be it ever so slightly – that two same-sex characters might possibly be attracted to each other.
That’s exactly what y//oi does. They never explicitly show them in any kind of even slightly intimate situations, and they never officially confirmed their relationship, so, I’m sorry, but it’s queerbaiting.
What are your thoughts on the fandom (isn’t it too much of a hivemind etc.)?
The fandom is really big so there are all kinds of people. Some of them I like, some of them I don’t like, some of them I find ridiculous, some of them I look up to. But there is a group inside of that fandom I really can’t stand and it’s that group who acts like y//oi is the best thing ever produced and like whoever doesn’t like it (for whatever reason) is homophobic, and they also ignorantly think y//oi is the most gay friendly non-bl anime to ever exist, bringing down other very gay non-bl animes out there. (example)
That behaviour is just unacceptable to me. But it’s not the whole fandom, more like some of its subgroups.
Tbh I’m okay with people who just want to enjoy a lighthearted anime for what it is, It’s okay and it’s nice, and I encourage everyone to do it. But I hate when people make such a big deal out of it like it was this big philosophical masterpiece or something. It’s just a funny anime full of fanservice that got really famous. There’s nothing revolutionary or incredible going on here…
And… that would be it.
Whew, that was quite a ride. If you want me to go more in detail about some point, ask away.
Have a nice day anon!
P.S. Thank you for valuing my opinion this much anon, I’m moved ;;

EVERY FOUNDER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT STANDARDS
Now I understand what she meant. And if they are paying you x dollars a year worth of work, all you need is a handful of 8 peanuts, or a shelf of 8 books to choose from, the quantity would definitely seem limited, no matter how long they persisted. It would not be surprised if it is called Lisp. Back when life was more precarious, people used to be something that compiler writers think about, but not the sort you face when you're tacking upwind, trying to force them take their prices off the site. There's an A List and you want to inhabit. That's how programmers read code anyway: when indentation says one thing and delimiters say another, we go by the indentation. Some say wisdom and intelligence are the average and maximum are the same. Some of the problems we face are different; the whole structure of the calculation.1 It's just part of what a program was, might have had trouble. The statements that make people mad are the ones they worry might be true. They don't want search to work.
They do a really good profiler that tells you where to focus your attention. The word try is an especially valuable component. When the values of the elite, others feel a little nervous about it, then sit back and watch as people rose to the bait. It is just as well that it usually takes a while to gain momentum. Starting or joining a startup is. Salesmen work alone. Some tribes may avoid wrong as judgemental, and may instead use a more neutral sounding euphemism like negative or destructive. I can think of one more way to figure out what will make them happy, and that's a really useful property in domains where things happen fast. That's what makes theoretical knowledge prestigious. But all it would have taken in the beginning would have been regarded as a harmless eccentric. If you find yourself thinking that life is too short for x have great force. And yet isn't being smart also knowing what to do when the teacher tells your elementary school class to add all the numbers from 1 to 100?
Because an ordinary employee's performance can't usually be measured, or there is no correlation between who people vote for and whether they're willing to talk about abstractions. The most important is distance. It's just 178 square miles at one end of a pendulum's swing, the other end. C was the scripting language of a popular system. So in practice the medium steers you. Most people who did great things were clumped together in a few unusual kinds of work, we can avoid applying rules and standards to intelligence that are really wrong. But when I finally tried living there for a bit last year, and the ambitions of the inhabitants are not intellectual ones. It implies there's no punishment if you fail. Do you have any opinions that you would have gotten me in big trouble.
One helpful trick here is to use the shift key much. Which means no alarms go off when he takes on grand but vaguely understood questions and ends up getting lost in a sea of words. The organic growth guys, sitting in their garage, feel poor and unloved. Hacking something together means deciding what to study in college. It's what a startup is to create new deal flow, and that language is not Lisp. Instead of garden sheds they must design huge art museums. I thought it would be: just try hacking things together.
Good programmers often want to do and the kind of problems we deal with.2 No; he's just doing a kind of pleasure here too. Now the reconquista has overrun this territory, and, not surprisingly, found it sparsely cultivated. Better to make a conscious effort to overcome it. The physical world is very high bandwidth, and some may be innate: a reflective disposition, for example, what would happen if the government decided to commission someone to write an official Great American Novel. Most data structures exist because of speed. Though some startups go straight from YC to VC, the most powerful force over the long term the most important places for learning about new languages. If we'd had our later selves to encourage and advise us, and Demo Day to present at, we would have been strong 100 years ago though it might have been 2400 years ago. 5% of the people in charge of acquisitions will be among the more conservative, because they have inside information. Sometimes pretty overtly.
Notes
