Drunk Desires (l.s.y.)
This is a bit random but this came into mind as I was scrolling on socials. And when I saw it I remembered BL and BoP and just thought “only these men would be right for this” (these men being the way youve written them). But essentially there’s this game called drunk desires (couple game) where you essentially have to eother answer qs about or do tasks to/for your partner that are written on a card. If you refuse or do it wrong, you drink.
Okay so now imagine, you and sangyeon (friend) are hanging out and you decide you want to play a game so you pick drunk desires. You’d never played it before but Sunwoo and Eric had got it for you, telling you to play with sangyeon (but ofc, they would because what is their life if not teasing the crap out of their best friends - especially when they like each other). “We’ll be partners for this game” you announce as you set up on the floor.
Sangyeon hums in response, though he has no clue what game you’ve picked until he’s back with snacks and you’ve drawn the first card. He raises his brow when he sees it and asks “are you sure you want to play this? It can get… intense” To which your stubborn and determined self replies, “since when have I backed down from a challenge?” He’s about to press but when he sees your face, he surrenders and takes a seat across from you.
The first few rounds are fairly innocent, you must have not shuffled the cards well because youre both pulling the flirty white cards like “tell your partner the most embarrassing thing youve done” or “guess their favourite movie”. Youre starting to doubt why sunwoo and eric thought this would be a good game to play, it just seems so… boring?
And then, Sangyeon pulls the first black card of the game, “take one item of clothing off” and his hoodie comes off. Though, that did nothing since he was wearing a t-shirt underneath but you enjoyed the bit of abs that you saw in the process. Then it’s your turn to pull, and lo and behold, another black card: “tell your partner your sexual fantasy” you read.
You can’t help but hesitate slightly and Sangyeon starts “you dont have to- it’s just a dumb game.” But you cut him off, “Him, at work in his suit and tie. I would visit him in his office, tease him, call him sir until he’s had enough and… well yeah” you feel yourself heating up in Sangyeon’s gaze though youre not sure if it’s embarrassment or something else.
“Well yeah?” Sangyeon questions, but he knows what you mean, he just wants to hear you say it; he cant help but want to hear the dirty words fall from your lips. You’re not quite sure how your voice comes out your sturdy and confident but it does: “you’d-” you catch your slip up and fix “he’d rail me. Tie my hands up with his tie and just have his way, on his chair, desk, window - i dont care just as long as he’s nice and rough.”
You look up at Sangyeon when you finish, and you notice how intense his gaze is on you. And you can’t help but like it more than you should. You smile a little before saying “Yeonnie? It’s your turn.”
He startles slightly and you cant help but let out a small laugh at this and then he’s clearing his throat and drawing another card, “Tell your partner what turns you on most”. He looks slightly conflicted before reaching towards his glass and you, jokingly, boo him “Boo!! Come on yeonnie, it can’t be that bad,” he shakes his head and takes a long drink of his beer, after all how could he say ‘you’. “Eric and Sunwoo have really been rubbing off on you, I see” and you laugh.
“Okay fine, whatever embarrassing secret you’ve got, I’ll let you keep it.” And you continue for a few more rounds. There’s a mix between drinking and doing dumb stuff and then Sangyeon gets, ‘Seductively suck your partner’s finger’ he looks at you as if to ask if it’s okay, but you can see that he’s got one hand on his glass, just in case. You don’t know why but the consistently seeing him put your comfort before anything during this was fuelling the burning flame inside you.
“Here you go, kind sir,” you joke as you outstretch your hand, “I’ll be nice and let you pick.” Sangyeon takes your hand in his and gently folds the rest of your fingers as he takes your index and middle fingers in his mouth. Everything he does from then on feels excruciatingly slow. The way he sucks and swirls his tongue, whilst looking up at you dead on with want. You’re so whipped. As if in a trance, your free hand comes up to cup his chin, both encouraging him and keeping him in place. But it was over too soon and Sangyeon popped off with a proud smirk on his face, “pretty” is all he says before nodding towards the cards. But you’re too dazed to catch on. “Y/n?” He chuckles at the way you jumped.
“Right, um… shit i picked up two,” you fumbled. Sangyeon smiled at you before saying, “it’s okay, just pick whichever you’d prefer” and you nod before reading both cards out:“I can either… lick my partner below the waist, or… flash you for 3 seconds. Since you’ll have to be on the receiving end, which would you prefer?” you scolded yourself mentally for sounding so shy. But Sangyeon found it cute.
“Whichever you would feel more comfortable doing,”“Sangyeon, you know-”“(Y/n), it’s okay, either is fine,” he smiled at you reassuringly. You bit your lip as you thought about it. If you had it your way, his clothes would have been gone ages ago. But just because you want him naked doesn’t mean he wants you the same. But then again… he said either, so that’s a green light, right?
You look up at him before placing the card down, “this one” and crawling over to him, “you are okay with this, right?” He nods before lifting his shirt up slightly for you. What he didn’t expect was for you to push him back slightly as you lick dangerously low. You hear him suck in a breath as you place your tongue on his skin and you lick just as slow as he sucked your fingers. After all, what kind of friend would you be if you didn’t take this moment to get back at him?
Sangyeon fights back a groan, trying to keep himself calm. But when he’s up against you, there’s very little he can do to win. When you reach the end of his hip, you place a quick kiss on him and pull back with a cheeky smile, moving back to your seat “you good up there?”
Even in his state, Sangyeon shoots a glare at you but there’s no actual malice in his eyes. “So that’s how we’re playing,” he draws his next card and looks straight at you, mischief all over his features. “Well, the fun continues,” and he moves towards you until there’s about 5cm between you both. “Uh Sangyeon… what are you,” you start, slightly nervous and a lot more aware of the size of the room, “what are you doing?” He holds up his card so that it’s facing you, and says, “tell me if you want me to stop,”
Your eyes flutter towards the card, 'pin your partner against the wall & make out’ before looking back at Sangyeon. You know he wouldn’t do anything against your will so the cards, ironically, are all in your hand. “What’s the problem, Mr Lee? All talk and no game?”
Before you know it, you’re pinned to the floor, and you’re an incomprehensible mess as Sangyeon’s lips trail from your lips to your neck, leaving as many marks as he can. “You know what my biggest turn on is?” He asks in between kisses, knowing full well you won’t answer. You can’t. “You are,” before he can go on, you’re whining and pulling him back to reconnect your lips.
You don’t remember when or how you guys end up in the bedroom (knowing Sangyeon though, he would’ve insisted on making you comfortable), that much was a blur, but you remember everything else clearly. The way he touched you, kissed you, made you feel safe. The way he made you burn and had you begging for more. And even now, the way he plays with your hair, placing kisses on your forehead while telling you sweet nothings.
You know you both have some things to talk about, and Sangyeon won’t let you avoid it but for now, you enjoyed basking in the bliss. You don’t want to forget any of it. “Sangyeon,” “Hmm?” “You know, you still have to drink right?” “What do you mean?” “It said pin your partner against the wall, not the floor.” He laughed before saying, “well, that can easily be corrected,” before pulling you up to him.

This wasn’t meant to be a long thing, sorry 😅 i got a bit carried away

Lester would be like: uh yeah, by the way, I got two brothers, they're twins, Vincent's ok but Boncan be a lot
and then you're there with your six brothers like: ...I can probably handle it
even though I technically have an older brother I haven't seen him in so long and spent so little time with him I don't know what it's like to have a brother, or more than one sibling
I have a friend who's got... five or six soblings though? so many people
- 🔪
PLS my brother's LOVE meeting my friends too. So if they let me do a family trip where I brought my brother's to meet Lester I would love it sm.
Fun fact: my 11 y/o brother has this like- army shovel? It folds up and it's a spade head. WELL he decided it would be GREAT to stab my bf at the time in the ass with it. I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS BROTHER TO INTRODUCE HIM TO MY BF. HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO HE WAS YET AND JUST DECIDED TO STAB HIM WITH THIS SHOVEL AND SCREAM "INTRUDER" 💀💀 IMAGINING THEM MEETING BO WOULD BE SO FUNNY BECAUSE HE'D EOTHER LOVE OR HATE THEM BECAUSE THEY'RE SO CRAZY 😭😭 but tbh that guy broke my heart and is why I'm having so much trouble talking to work guy lately so he deserved it 😤😤
If my friends or s/o can't handle my brother's I don't want them. My little brother's are my everything fr.
I also rough house a lot so if Bo gets on my nerves I'd probably try and fight him or something.
I like claiming my s/o's siblings as my own even if we're just dating and nothing serious. I am a very family oriented person, so the more sibling the better. Definitely the obnoxious older sibling when people get to know me 💀
The baby would love Vincent though! He loves art so he'd probably try and draw with him lmao
Then the 12 y/o loves hunting, fishing, and guns. So he'd probably love Lester
I know the 11 y/o would love lester
The 5 y/o would also love Lester.
The 8 y/o would probably enjoy Vincent tbh
The 15 y/o would probably drift more towards Lester or Vincent? He would HATE Bo. I know that much (he's seen HoW and doesn't like Bo's attitude 💀)
Idk if any of my brothers would like Bo? My 12 y/o brother might? Idk LMAO none of us can keep our mouths shut so we'd probably be hella sarcastic and get yelled at by him. Plus we like touching shit so we'd probably walk in his shop and be all "ooh, shiny 👹‼️" and he'd have a stroke.

How about SVSSS and Star Wars?
Ah that would work well I think with the cultivational world as righteous Jedi and the demons as Sith (there´s be more than two though^^). And you get born into eother dark or light side so poor Binghe who is of mixed ancestry (big taboo that) could in theory go through the same stuff as in SVSSS (being found out to be of Sith ancestry, thrown into the abyss, going dark side fully and all that jazz) and maybe we can go the way with "not actual Sith but more like dark Jedi" instead? I mean honestly?? It´s more or less the same thing ^^ we have a "good side" (human/Jedi) vs a "bad" side (demons/Sith) with poor Binghe stuck in the middle, there´s stuff kinda like magic and they fight with swords...should work pretty well without having to adjust stuff too much kinda^^

Okay this is really interesting.
To begin with Chihaya. What I understood, and correct me if I'm wrong. You like or prefer them not ending up together because you like the idea of a case where even if romantic feelings are rejected, a strong and close friendship can still flourish despite that.
I like the idea but I'm afraid at this point in the manga it's hard to execute well because... well the obvious question is do you think he still has feelings for her?
Depending on the answer the scenario can be good or bad. Like, I remember someone asking him that question and him saying that his feelings are fading away. Do you believe that?
I personally don't. I still think he has the same strong feelings. That why I'm skeptical about the close friendship. Like sure the idea is nice but it would not be good for him at all. Close friendship with someone who you have strong romantic feelings for but does not reciprocate is agonizing. And remaining close to them can instead of allowing him to get over those feelings can make things much worse. I don't see a close friendship in those circumstances ending up being a positive influence on either.
Now if you believe that his feelings are gone or are fading away then, while strong and close friendship runs the risk of rekindling those feelings, at least it's possible to have strong healthy friendship under those circumstances.
What's your opinion on this?
Now when it comes to Arata. I think he made a lot of progress. I think he found it in himself to be truly supportive and loving friend to him with no feelings of bitterness or ill will. But I think there is still an underlying feeling of inferiority that has not left. That's what the whole "it's not in my place to be there, there's nothing I can do for them" thing comes from. It could be just a defense mechanism that makes him think that because it'd kinda hurt seeing them share that stage while he couldn't, but eother way it still betrays a sense of inferiority.
Thing is though I get that going there to cheer them on can both make him realize that yeah his support is needed and appreciated and also can help by getting him to selflessly support people he care about without a sense of inferiority and possible biterness.
But I think whether those final moments of closure can help him decide to keep playing Karuta and find self worth, I'd much prefer if that happened in the process of playing Karuta, not outside of it. When it comes to his relationship to either Chihaya or Arata, if we were going the route you prefer, in which he both continues to play Karuta and is able to have healthy and close friendship with both Arata and Chihaya despite rejection by chihaya and loss to Arata, I'd much prefer it expressed through Karuta matches/competition, preferably against each other. I woulda hoped we got to see him get a point where he is able to play against both (again even if he loses or rejected) earnestly and enjoyably and without all the baggage and insecurities that he attached to the game. I think that can solidify the idea of him chosing to continue to play Karuta by literally seeing him do it enjoyably and free of the previous pressures, much more than him deciding by either supporting them in the final matches or telling us through conversation.
What so you think?
With regards to the “fading away” scene, I think I’m half-and-half; maybe a better way to describe it would be to illustrate what to me is a distinction between loving someone and being in love with them. I think Taichi is always going to love Chihaya, very deeply. That’s a love that’s grown since they were kids, and given the degree of importance that she holds for him, I don’t think it’s possible for him to just “stop” loving her and suddenly feel apathetic. That would feel more robotic and perhaps even unhealthy, because shutting down your emotions so abruptly doesn’t necessarily help you process or move on from them. But while I do think he’s always going to love her, regardless, I don’t think he’s necessarily “in” love with her anymore. He seems pretty close to accepting that a romance between them isn’t going to happen, and I think he’s in the process of making his peace with that, especially with the idea that loving her was still worth it even if she ultimately didn’t reciprocate (which is something that I had discussed earlier when I was talking about his conversation with Chitose). As for whether maintaining a close friendship with her despite the lack of reciprocation is feasible, I guess I don’t feel too skeptical because I’ve seen it executed well in other stories. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but Honey and Clover is a great example of a series that depicts unrequited love characters don’t have to remain feeling bitter about, because maintenance of their friendships is what matters most to them. They don’t want to lose these people who have changed their lives and whose presence in their lives matters so much just because their feelings weren’t reciprocated. And to be fair, I understand Taichi is sort of a special case because his friendship with Chihaya is deeply entrenched in his romantic feelings for her to begin with, and that in turn became entangled with many of his insecurities. But to me the fact that he’s working to address those insecurities and shed himself of them implies that he can reach a place mentally where he’s still able to maintain and value his friendship with her without allowing the regrets to overshadow any of that. I don’t think it’s going to be an easy process per se, nor one that’s neatly wrapped up with a bow on top by the end of the story, but so long as we’re shown that he’s moving in that direction mentally and emotionally, I think it’ll give the feeling of, “They’ll turn out okay, so long as they trust themselves and each other.” I can definitely understand if people are skeptical of such a mindset, because everyone is different, and some people handle this kind of situation better than others. Maybe it’s idealistic of me to hope that the positive outcome will be the case for Taichi and Chihaya; but I do desperately want it if he really doesn’t end up with her, because it would feel like such a shame to lose all of that history and support and care between them to only more and more distance. Even if I don’t ship them romantically, their relationship is super important to me and I don’t want to see them have to lose it just because the way they love each other is a bit different. Not to mention there’s still so much they have to actually sit down and talk to each other about, because they’ve kind of ran in circles around each other for the longest time, so I’d like to know that those conversations are going to happen and that we’re not just going to see them progressively distance themselves from each other even more under the guise of “moving on”.
As for your second point, I honestly agree! Although it would be plenty impactful just to see Taichi resolve to continue playing karuta, it would be even more fulfilling if we got to see the manifestation of that decision in him physically playing against Arata (and/or Chihaya) once again. And I’m hoping we do see something like it before the very end, maybe not in the form of a huge time skip (lest it feel like a cop out to readers, lol) but just by the fact of them playing each other again at all. Maybe the series ends on a beautiful spread where the three of them are all playing on the same stage the following year, but we don’t know the specifics of the match. Or maybe the series ends on us seeing them play together again in the Shiranami Society, with the implication that they’ve finally made their way back to each other and are training and fighting together in a way they never have before. There’s lots of possibilities! I do hope we get to see them all playing together in some fashion before the end, though.

Prompt: Make headcanons of you and the character of your choice be it sfw or nsfw
Tagged by: @oursmolbox
a little about me:
I'm a student athlete (cheerleading), honor student and a class officer. Before entering cheer i was in the volleyball team for 7 years but only played competitively for one season and the rest was just benchwarming
My teachers say that I have a magnetic personality and bring out the best in the people i'm working with especially when I put my mind into it. My personality is kind of hard to explain cause I react differently to different kinds of people almost like mirroring so I'd be able to fit in to that group.
Although when I'm with my friends id like to say im sly, mischievous, flirty and charming. I'm a naturally forward person and I don't hold back when it comes to skinship or hugs huehuehhe im rather clingy so yeeet. It's almost obvious when I get crushes since as much as I'm naturally fly and a flirt i end up turning into a shy ball of awkwardness.
Pairing: Akaashi x Alyssa (me!)
Tumblr media
Before the relationship + Confession
I'm pretty sure we would have mutual friends (Bokuto) and would probably only know each other by name
The first time we would have actually met or like seen each other would most likely be at one of their games.
Fukurodani's cheerteam was tasked to accompany the boys during the 3 day competition to show support.
My friends and I in the cheerteam were scoping out "competition crushies" or some eyecandy be it from the Fukurodani team or the neighboring one
And god lets be honest there is no better looking eyecandy than Akaashi Keiji. My teammates see me looking and glancing at the boy too much before telling me what his name was
Then it hit me he was THE Akaashi Keiji jskebsb the pretty setter that everyone in school has been talking about also the same one Bokuto talks about ksbsksb
After the match the cheerteam and i would congratulate the boys and cue me dying because Akaashi looks better up close than from the stands
Being the clingy person I am bounces towards Bokuto first since he was the only one I was close too plus the boy gives the best hugs (fite me its canon)
To put it simply imma hang out more with Bokuto cause I wanna get to know Akaashi
Which surprisingly we have a lot in common and his attitude balances mine out
It takes a long time for me to have a crush doe (I've only ever crushed on one person in my life) cause tbh I don't fall in love blindly instead I openly head towards it with my consent
When I do realize I like-like him thats when things get awkward yet interesting. I start flirting with him less, my ears start burning, I don't use pet names with him anymore, my hugs become shaky and i couldn't keep eye contact for too long
Naturally he thinks something is wrong or that he did something. It's gonna be like that for a while til i muster enough courage plus peptalk to confess. I'd confess to him most likely during the end of the year in an almost open forum way that one might think isn't really a confession if you dont listen carefully
If he confesses first though then Alyssa.exe has stopped working cause itd be truly a miracle if he so much looks in my direction
I don't deserve him he is literally heaven sent😭😭😭
In the relationship
Lowkey because iz not like eother of us wants to flaunt our relationship
It's a slowburn type of relationship
honestly I would go bright red just from a simple touch cause again as much as I am a flirt tis only a defense mechanism to hide how shy I am
Hand/pinky holding
eyecontact
smiling at the ground
blushing
forehead kisses
library and museum dates
walking eachother home after training + watching each other train
Pet names
Oml pet names
Rawr I’d die if he called me pet names and as for him then he’d have to claim one of the oh so many pet names I call my friends for himself
Tbh id prolly be to shy to call him anything though
He’d prolly be somewhat upset I call my friends by pet names while he doesnt
If there was one word to describe it it would be soft
My girls would gush when they see him and tease me relentlessly while we train and the boys would holler everytime I stay and watch the VBC team
I would very much wear his jersey a lot because as much as I am a shy baby with him my man deserves recognition also cause I love wearing his clothes
I'd cry if I see him watch my competitions cause if ur man is ever interested in ur passions then you've got yourself a keeper
<end>
A/n: oh my god im blushing while writing this nsiwnskwn also cause huehuehue who wouldn't when you're writing about you and your crush.
I tag: @reogou @burnt-tomato @mizunetzu @mistu-nee @everyone who wants too

The one that had barged in had been Dave. When he had heard that his Granddaughter had been so sick, he had rushed off and changed into his human form.
Into the hospital had a tall, and authoritive young Caucasian and smartly dressed man with purple hair, and the doctors and security tried to barr his way, but Dave proved that he was family. That he was her grandfather, he never said, they would never have believed it eother way.
As he stepped to Ashe's bedroom in the wing she was housed, he coukd see she looked horrible. So he had knelt beside her bedside, and gebtly stroked her cheek.
It had taken some work, but he had managed to get her out and rent a car.
He had put it out that he was a wealthy relative that was going to take care of her. While not an outright lie, it was the truth.
With her in the car, hw had taken her to an area where they wouldn't be disturbed, and had taken her back to his home.
There, she was placed in better treatment, and the healers there had taken turns to do their best.
She was set on an IV, and potions were used to help Ashe's immune system, as well as magic via her grandfather used.
He may not be a medical expert, but he still knew powerful healing spells. Even though it took a lot of energy and magic on his end, he counted it well spent, no matter how tired he was. And yes, he had pumped a lot of magic into his spells.
To the next coming days, Dave would come by like clockwork, Reading Ashe stories of adventures, silly romances, and happy endings.

An update: I actually don't know how catholic I want to be yet. I already am the most catholic of my household, (weird, right)? I mean, I went through this six year hardship that brought me closer to God, which I'm totally grateful for, and now I'm ready to seek my soulmate or whatever. (I never felt ready before) so it's all a little exciting and stuff. idk, I signed up for catholic match and this is how I met that friend (who wants to set me up) but...
I’m going based on the assumption that all 6 of these are from you but if not I’m terribly sorry, I currently have like 15 asks in my box and most of them are about relationship advice so eother way, you’re all getting prayers and advice, it just may be grouped weird/wrong. If I grouped it wrong, feel free to call me out on it so I can fix it.
But anyway, to get to the meaty bits of it:
I can totally relate, the whole “God make me holy but not yet” St Augustine type thing is totally me to a T even now. There are definitely some things that I hang onto that I know I need to let go of even though I’m definitely also the most Catholic out of my family, too. But God brings people closer to Him in His own time and that’s okay, His relationship with everyone is different.
I think marrying someone you’ve known forever is super cute (and maybe a better option than having someone you met on CatholicMatch set you up with yet another person? Idk maybe it’s just me but that doesn’t seem like it may be the best option for you, but I could be wrong—like I said it never hurts to at least try to get to know the person).
In terms of how Catholic said childhood friend is, I think you have to gauge it like this: if you were to get married and have kids together but then something happened to you and your spouse essentially had to raise your children on his own, could you trust him to raise your children in the faith well enough to get your children to Heaven? Because that’s the ultimate goal of marriage and family is to help one another achieve Heaven. Regardless of how Catholic he is or isn’t (often from the outside it’s even hard to judge that, most often only God can say how strong someone’s faith life is) if you feel secure enough in the answer to that question it doesn’t hurt to pursue something with said friend. Plus in the end, SOs help one another become holier through their relationship so you could also end up being a good influence on him (granted he’d also have to want to become holier himself or it’d never work out).
God always hears your prayers. He knows the workings of every single cell in your body and has numbered every single hair on your head and knows exactly every single step you will ever take in your entire life. Trust me when I say that God hears you and is answering you in His own way. I honestly admire your steadfastness when it comes to honoring your future spouse and I think when you sit down and tell them your life story in the future that they’ll be glad they even before you were together that they were a source of strength that you drew from. As far as cute love stories go, that’d be up there on my list, IMO. So yes, I totally am following what you’re saying. And not only does God have incredible things planned for each of us in this life if we follow His will, but we also get to reap the benefits in the next life, too. I find it best to follow Him so I get to live life most fully in both instances. In terms of trusting God more, I definitely agree. When we don’t see results right away it can be difficult to know that God for sure is working on things behind the scenes for us. But consider this, as ready as you are to enter into a relationship right now, ask yourself what your future spouse may be going through. Maybe he’s not ready to be in a relationship or be married yet. Maybe he recently got out of a relationship and needs time to heal. Maybe he has trauma from his past he needs to work through first. Maybe he needs time for his relationship with God to mature before he’s ready to take on a more significant role in a relationship. Etc. Sometimes it’s no you and it’s the other person. Lol on a personal note, I remember one time when I was lamenting being single I asked God why I was still single and heard God saying back that my future husband was into blondes and needed to get over that phase first. Turns out Kieran did have a blonde phase a few years ago so he may not have been as interested in me had we met then instead. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You never know with men lol. But back to my main point, I think God may be asking you to take this opportunity to pray intently on behalf of your future spouse.
And I’ve always been of the mindset that if God wants something to happen, like for you to be married one day, and you want that also, He’s not going to let the opportunity pass you by. If your will aligns with His, then it’s not a matter of Him not giving you what you want, it’s a matter of timing and of patience on your part. Trust that God is diligently working on it even though you can’t see what He’s currently doing. Only in hindsight does life make sense. And God the Father’s main role in our lives is protection. He’s given each of us a guardian angel to ensure that. Based on that logic, it’s safe for you to assume that the closed doors in your life so to speak have been blessings to protect you from something, and the open doors you walked through were just hallways to get you to where you are now and to where you need to be to do God’s will in the future. It’s not the end for you, don’t worry.
God is certainly involved in all the choices we make, regardless of if we remember it or not. And yes, you’ve probably seen me mention 32,000 times that love is a choice lol, I tend to be a broken record about that so I agree with you there. And while I love Kieran with my whole heart and soul, I know I could have chosen differently if I really wanted to. I don’t necessarily believe in the “one true soulmate” thing, but personally, I do believe in bad, good, better, and best choices when it comes to future spouses. I like to think Kieran’s a “better” or “best” choice, but tbh I’ll never know for sure. And that’s okay with me because like I said, I choose to love him either way. So in that same line of thinking, as long as you have someone who you think can get you and your future children to Heaven and who treats you the way you deserve and want to be treated in a relationship, it’s kinda hard to go wrong.
Kieran will always be my #soulmate and also behind the scenes we do have a quieter domestic life filled with camping and going dancing and going to bookstores together when I actually do get to see him. He makes me meals and kisses my forehead and we talk about what we’ll name our future children and what we’ll plant in our future garden. We go to mass together and read our Bibles together and pray together and go to adoration together (not as much with Covid, unfortunately, but w/e). It is possible to have both. And honestly, on some days I feel like screaming “HE IS MY HUMAN AND I KNOW IT” and other days it’s harder and I have to choose to love him even and especially when he drives me up the walls because he doesn’t see things the way I do. In my humble opinion, I think having a love that includes both is something that will stand the test of time, and let me explain why. On the days when it’s less evident that you’re meant to be with that person you make the choice and as time goes on and life throws you more curveballs and things get harder, it gets easier. And then the days when they do everything right and light up your life come and reaffirms why you make those hard choices to keep on loving them, it makes the hard days worth it. It’s the yin and the yang, the give and the take in the relationship. Personally, I think that’s what makes a relationship beautiful, and I think that’s worth trusting in God’s timing for.
I hope this helped somewhat. And you can count on continually being in my prayers. :)

SPECIALJEWEL FOR THE SHIP ASK
Who's the cuddler: oh silver can't get enough of cuddling - once crys sits down its cuddle time
Who makes the bed: Silver does! he always makes it for crys cuz shes a busy woman and he insists on it
Who wakes up first: its usually crystal considering that silver usually stays up rather late but on occasion when crys works late into the night she'll wake to silver cooking her breakfast ^-^
Who has the weird taste in music: Silver likes anime and such so his tastes are always considered odd. Catch him playin JJBA themes
Who is more protective: This is somewhat equal ground! They both hate it when eother of their party is flirted at by someone else. Crys, though fighting is not a strong suit of hers, will defend silver from anyone looking to physically/mentally harm him. and silver? If you even think about hurting crys prepare to run away fast because silver will beat you half to death! :)
Who sings in the shower: crys loves to sing in the shower! Her mom kinda wanted her to be an idol so her voice is trained super well, she just isn't fond of singing to crowds unless its a lullaby for kids. Either way silver loves to hear her and its so hard not to join in but he doesnt want her to get embarrassed abd stop so he quietly hums along~
Who cries during movies: r u kidding? They both do it
Who spends the most while out shopping: silver still steals food so its usually crys by comparison. Unless silver sees something nice she would like!
Who kisses more roughly: hehehe... its definitely silver and its great
Who is more dominant: it kinda depends! Silver is plenty dominant but crys? When she's got the confidence she really runs the show, not that silver minds. As long as he gets to cuddle, kiss, and show her lots of love 🥰
My rating of the ship from 1-10: 100 otp i love it tysm for sending it in!

This was so fun I did both!
Who accidentally pushes a door instead of pulling/vice versa: Barbara. Please Deya let this woman sleep. It doesn't happen often but sometimes after a long shift at the clinic she just won't read the sign properly. She usually realizes before anyone notices. Nomura has trained herself to pay more attention to her surroundings for that happen.
Who doodles little hearts all over the desk with their initials inside them: A person who only knew Barbara and Nomura would guess it was probably Barbara. But Nomura has only been in love twice. And this is the first time she can express herself safely. So she finds herself hopelessly carving the initials BL+ZN into little hearts. Occassionally Barbara finds them. She's really touched when she does.
Who starts tickle fights: Barbara. Nomura's human form is actually incredibly ticklish. And even though she would never admit it so is her troll form. Since Barbara loves her laugh her so much she will regularly start tickling her partner.
Who starts the pillow fights: Nomura. And most of the time she is the one who finishes them as well. Barbara's no push over but she just doesn't have Nomura's years of experience. Since combat has been a way of life for Nomura she enjoys the sparing where she can't hurt her lover.
Who falls asleep last, watching th eother with a small affectionate smile: This one is actually both of them. Neither admits it to the other but they both do it. Barbara is used to the odd hours of her work at the clinic. Sosometimes she'll sit awake, unable to sleep and watch Nomura's soft breaths. Barbara is struck with how beautiful her partner is in both of her forms. Nomura does need less sleep, so she often finds herself watching Barbara while she sleeps. Barbara sometimes just collapses in bed after a long day, so Nomura will remove her glasses and sit and smile, her eyes glowing slightly in the dark.
Who mistakes salt for sugar: Barbara. God help that woman, she cannot cook. Nomura has banned her from the kitchen multiple times, but Barbara keeps finding her way back in.
Who lets the microwave play the loud beeping sound at 1 am: Nomura. She's not used to living with other people. Barbara had come home late from her work at the Clinic so many times, with Jim asleep upstairs she would never let the microwave beep. Also Jim would be so upset to find out she had microwaved one of the dinners he made.
Who makes up cheesy pickup lines: Barbara. She hasn't had that much dating experience, and can get kind of tongue tied, so she makes up cute and cheesy things to say to Nomura.
Who rearranges the bookshelf in alphabetical order: Barbara. She's a little baffled by how the books keep getting out of order. She keeps trying to straighten up but the house gets messier again. It turns out that was something Nomura had learned, if the house was specifically messy it was harder for someone who tried to search the house to find things. So Barbara just kind of leaves it the way it is.
Who licks the spoon when they're baking brownies: Barbara. Nomura will bake for the two of them, then she will offer the spoon to Barbara. Nomura doesn't like to admit but sometimes she'll lick the spoon herself, and sometimes she'll eat the whole spoon.
Who buys candles for dinners even though there's no special occassion: This one is solidly in the camp of Nomura. She is hopelessly in love with Barbara. And she goes above and beyond to make romantic gestures. After a hard day at work, few things make Barbara feel better than coming home to find the house just lit by candles.
Who draws little tattoos on the other with a pen: Barbara. In her human form Nomura doesn't like the marks on her body. But in troll form she actually thinks they're really cute. She hasn't wanted to get an trollish tattoos so them being temporary is really nice.

i’m gonna be a massive dick and ask: 1-100
HAHAHAH alright well here we go then. Also thank you from saving me from the world’s most boring lecture rn.
Everything will be under a read more inorder to save people’s dash but feel free to learn more about me haha.
1. The meaning behind my url:
I feel like its kinda self explanatory. I made this back when I was a giant 5sos fan and I’m too lazy to change it and idk what I would change it to if I did. I might soon though.
2. A picture of me:
Tumblr media
3. How many tattoos i have and what they are:
I have 1 tattoo currently and it’s a pinky promise. I got it with a former friend. I have a couple more planned I just need money for them.

Is everybody going crazy? - Nothing but thieves
Complainer - Cold War Kids
Trampoline - Shaed
Don’t stop me now - Queen (permanently in top 5)
9. Tattoos i want:
I have several lined up. My next is going to be a crow with some minimalist geometric lining in the back and some hydrangeas and delphiniums around it on my forearm. Next I’m going to get a small snapdragon along the outside of my forearm. Then I want to get my thigh pieces done one will be a watercolor tree and the other will be watercolor mountains and it’ll have some quotes underneath them.
10. Biggest turn ons:
I like assertive people who aren’t dickheads.
11. Age:
22
12. Ideas of a perfect date:
I’m super easy to please so pretty much any place where we can actually do something because i find that that helps break through the awkwardness of dates.

NaNoWriMo Day 4
6667 words! Apologies in advance, I wrote this in a sleep-deprived haze when nothing was real, so this probably makes absolutely no sense, but hey, it’s 1667 words. Enjoy!
It made Maria feel a lot better seeing how smoothly this meeting went. Nothing like the previous group projects she’d been a part of. Everybody contributed, everybody had something to pitch in.
“…but the deal with New York was, even though Mazer was really popular, they weren’t totally wooed, right? A bunch of people still refused to vote red…”
“…and in Arizona, it was pretty much guaranteed they’d swing towards the more liberal candidates, so Hanover was going to win no matter what, since she was the most liberal Progressive…”
“…the 29th Amendment only went into effect for this election, it was ratified back in 2046, so there was a 10-year delay before the changes went into effect…”
It was great to see everybody so involved, but as with any assignment, Maria left that day feeling mentally exhuasted. Her head was swirling with all sorts of maps and quotes, blurring together into a big mess of… bleh. She needed to spend a few hours without any heavy thinking and go to bed early.
She ended up doing exactly that when she got home. She went straight to her room, and took a nap for four hours before waking up and doing her homework for the next day. Then she ate dinner, and went back to bed again, not waking up until the next morning.
This time, the windows shone brightly with streaming sunlight when she woke up, unhidden by the fog that had conjured up yesterday. She tried to convince herself to get out of bed immediately, but the covers were so warm, and the sun was lighting her room just so… it was a little too intoxicating to let go of just yet. So she made sure her second alarm was set, and drifted off back to sleep again.
This time, when her second alarm went off, she was able to extricate herself from her bed and make her way downstairs. She was still awake before Thalia, although at this point, that was saying more about Thalia than herself. It was 8 already! Shouldn’t she be up too?
“Hey, Thalia, it’s already 8 in the morning! You have one hour to get ready for school, okay?”
“Mmmrrrmmm, school’s not ’til 10!”
“And it’ll take you another half an hour to get your lazy ass out of bed and start getting ready before your ride comes, I know you! If you don’t get up soon you’re going to be late!”
“I knooow!”
Maria sighed angrily. “I’ll be back around 18, don’t do anything too stupid while I’m gone!”
Today was Thursday, so that meant two things: she had both English and History today, and she had work in the afternoon. She tried not to let the familiar sensation of dread hit her too hard as she realised that, but it was… difficult. Work was always a bit of a grating time, but lately, it just seemed like everybody was being just a little bit more insufferable than usual, and it was getting hard to hold her tongue when they were being insufferable to her face. Nathan was her only saving grace at this point. How that man managed to deal with so many people who didn’t know the first thing about social etiquette was beyond her.
She walked into History class with just a few minutes to go before half past. “Mornin’, Professor.”
“Mornin’,” Monaca said back. “Have a good Wednesday?”
“Yeah. Got a good start on the project.”
“Good! I hope you’re ready to work on it today, too?”
Maria rubbed her eyes tiredly. “I hope so. I slept like the dead last night, so I would like to think that maybe I’ll be more awake today.”
“If only it were that easy,” Monaca sighed. “Find a menthol stick, that’ll wake you right up if you start nodding off. Those things are strong as all get-out.”
“Menthol sticks?” Adrien said. “That sounds like some sort of torture method the government would come up with.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised, Adrien, ‘cause I also hate menthol with a passion,” Monaca said. “I’ve tried them once, and let me tell you, it woke me right up. Strongest taste out there next to black coffee.”
“That’s honestly frightening.”
“Okay, so, 2051!” Monaca said. “I know you guys were al saying that 2050 sounded like a very dull year, but 2051 has some stuff that should actually interest you.”
“Hurrah!”
“Quiet, Hank!”
Monaca laughed. “I’m glad you’re so enthusiastic. Now, in 2051, the groundwork for one of the biggest landmarks in today’s America got laid down: Teller City came onto the map.
“Teller City wasn’t exactly anything special before 2051. It was found in 2033, in the middle of Montana, and got started as a manufacturing city. It wasn’t very big, and it really didn’t have a reputation to speak. But that all changed in 2051. In February that year, a bidding process began for one city to become host to the second headquarters of a fledgling artificial intelligence company that some of you may or may not have heard of: Hawking/Turing Laboratories.”
The class laughed at that line. “Yeah, I don’t think many people really know about HT, Professor,” Hannah called out.
“I didn’t think so either,” Monaca tossed back. “The bidding process took only a couple months, and Teller City was chosen on July 28th. At the time, HT was starting to really get a name for itself, but it hadn’t gotten the reputation it has today just yet. Artificial intelligence was still far from perfected in 2051 and a lot of their resources were being allocated towards energy production to make a profit while their research and development department worked on the androids they’d become known for in the 60s. That meant whichever city won the auction for the second headquarters could count on a pretty healthy influx of jobs and population growth. Teller City had already gone through a pretty amazing growth spurt in the late 40s, but they were confident enough in their infrastructure handling that they were willing to take on another wave of workers coming in to work for Hawking/Turing Labs. They won the auction, and as predicted, there was a big uptick in job growth and population growth in Teller City over the next couple of years as a result of that win. But, that’s only one part of the reason this was such an important year for Teller City.
“Since they won the auction, that meant that this city, in the middle of Montana, which hadn’t really been paid too much attention in the past few decades, got put in the spotlight when President Plenard signed the Energy Restoration Act of 2051.”
“Wait, that sounds familiar,” Tatie said from the back. “Wasn’t the Energy Restoration Act the one that started the energy grid?”
“Exactly!” Monaca said. “The Energy Restoration Act gave a huge burst of government funding to a few energy companies based in the United States as a way to combat the growing energy crisis that was starting to cause major problems for electricity as a result of the oil shortage of the late 40s going into the 50s. And one of those companies was Hawking/Turing Labs, which meant that two cities were given a huge boost of productivity and publicity: namely, Columbia, South Carolina, and Teller City. They started mass-producing cutting-edge solar grids that were to be used to replace the power plants running on fossil fuels, and eventually became the two major hubs of today’s solar grid. In 2051, this was a huge deal, because something on this scale hadn’t been done since the middle of the 1900s, when the interstate highways were built. Teller City got most of the attention, because it produced by and large the biggest amount of panels, gridding, and infrastructure out of any of the other major manufacturing cities in the United States. They sort of had to, since Montana and the West in general is very sparsely populated, so to create a national grid meant they would have to reach all the way out to Washington, Wyoming, Utah, all the small states that have more land than anybody really knows what to do with.”
“Wait, so was this mainly a Hawking/Turing project that was funded by the government, or was this more decentralised?” Maria asked.
“Good question! Hawking/Turing was the main benefactor of the Energy Department’s funding, but a couple of th eother energy juggernauts like PG&E got some pretty substantial extra cash to work on this projet. It took until about 2056 for them to complete the grid, but when they did, it worked pretty damn well. Of course, anything on this level is gonna be rife with lots of little problems, but they did a pretty good job of making it work. Teller City has sort of been given a paragraph to itself in the history textbooks for being at the center of the whole thing. So, if you ever wondered what was so special about Teller City, now you know: they won the second headquarters for HT Labs, and they built a metric shitton of stuff for the solar grid as part of the Eneergy Restoration Act of 2051.”
“Okay, it’s official, this class is gonna murder my hands with all the stuff I have to take down,” Adrien said to Maria as they left. “Like, it's interesting and all, and I love it, but Jesus Christ she talks at the speed of sound sometimes.”
“She’s very easy to get excited,” Maria agreed. “Sometimes I wonder if we’d be better off if we put half a sleeping pill in that Snapple bottle of hers before class so we could maybe hear more than just every other word.”
“Ha! Yeah, that probably would help out at least a little.” He checked his watch. “Oop! Sorry, gotta jet, I’ve got Astronomy in five minutes.”
“What?! Dude, run! Run, run! Get going!” Maria exclaimed. “You’re not gonna make it if you don’t book it!”
“I know that already!” he said, already breaking into a jog. He sprinted across the courtyard, then vanished into the sprawl of buildings.

If I had the money and time: a dream project
I would love to make a few custom instruments (guitars and/or basses) by hand. Particularly, I would love to make either neck through basses with shaped “wings” aka make a straight profile neck through in one piece and add the sides as a solid one piece of wood that’s both wide enough and long enough are way more expensive. Or do a solid 1 piece body and 1 piece neck (fretboard doesn’t count).
The fun part though would be the wood and parts I could use and plan around when building.
My wishlist:
Tuners - Hipshot 3/8" Ultralite Short Y key or for guitar the Hipshot griplock(either open or closed, not sure
Bridge - Hipshot D Bridge (can be eother string through bridge or string through body or mixed like in the picture (both have their tonal advantages. Guitar I’d use and tune ‘o matic set with or eithout the tail piece. Probably would only do 7 or 8s for guitar
Pickups: Nordstrand dual coil or EMG MMTW the musicman dual coil/single toggled PU. Guitar - EMG 81/85-7
What I like about about most of those things are the options, lots of gold, black, different metalics (silver, nickel) and some others too.
Now the real fun: the woods
I had thought of doing some interesting ones local to here like Douglas Fir but I wasn’t too interested in the grains of them (would probably work for a painted but not light stained look.
So I found myself drawn to these ones in particular:
Cypress for neck throughs largely for the burls and interesting patterns. Full range of color stains or paints
Bubinga - clear or light stain to highlight, not alter
Canarywood - clear only
Fretboards:
Purpleheart - wouldn’t that stand out nicely and compliment some unique ones like the canarywood or bubinga
Wenge especially with the bubinga, its what makes the 2000′s Warwick Corvette Standards. Something I really want to get my hands on, 4 or 5 string, they are beautiful and sound amazing.
Or
Padouk
Design wise, you’ve seen a few ideas for customs but I think a Les Paul or LP jr. Would be fun for a unique bass and those are rather rare overall compared to Gibson/Epiphone Les Pauls. Or modified slim line '51 P bass or something similar to a Cort Curbow (deep cutaways, single pickup, overall small body). Biggest idea would be to make either unique designs or slim, light body instruments that stand out and are a pleasure to play and see.
Just one random dream. Wouldn’t be easy or cheap though. Probably would be $1,000 just in all materials so I’d only really make 1 or so for self and if it went well, ones to sell. Which is where the lack of money comes in and the time needed to do it right (or learn from the first and improve)

May I have a match up please?
Hi! First of all: I really love your writing skills!! I admire all those who have the gift (because it is a gift!) of writing! And how good you portrait the Diaboys is amazing!! So I was wondering… May I have a match up pretty please? 🙏 I’m 5”1, Latina, skinny but curvy and I have shoulder length, light brown hair and brown eyes. I tend to day dream a lot, causing me sometimes problems😅. I’m hard-working and responsible, very loyal and cheesy. I like to talk a lot but I’m very good listening and giving advices. I easily get anxious and stressed because I push myself and I don’t trust my capabilities very much. I’m known for my empathy, sensibility and how funny and spontaneous I am. I love music, singing, dancing, drawing, fashion, baking, nature, reading, writing, learning, food and tea. I don’t like people pitying or worrying about me so I always keep all my feelings and thoughts to myself. I tend to act like a mother and very protective towards people I care and love. Also! I’m more the type of girl that shows her affection through actions and physical contact (hugs and petting people’s shoulders or head) rather than by words. (Weird fact about me: I’m Ichthyophobic 😣 and people don’t believe it! Is a very unusual fear but is real!) Thank you and sorry if it was to long 🙈
(Thank you for your compliment and support doll :) )
Shuu enjoys the energy you have and would love you Mothering him. And since you don't like people worrying over you he won't, he wouldn't worry much anyway. He would like how to push yourself and how responsible you are, thought your random acts of spontaneity would get on his nerves he could easily tease you about how affectionate you are with your actions. There are so many times he would try and get you to sing to him and would often times watch you as you dance. And well there isn't much to listen with him.
Reiji could help you improve yourself and likes how you listen well to his instructions. The fact that's you are quite varied in your activities and work hard in them is something he admirs but won't say he does. While your affection through physical contact is rather bothersome to him and you will find yourself being corrected a lot in ways that are not so pleasing. Also you will get no pity from him and no worry eother he believes he can train you will enough that you can handle it on your own.
Ayato is going to prey upon you while you day dream and while there is nothing that sticks out to him about yo other than your curves. He really enjoys your curves, as for your doubt he will focus on that and make it into a great gapping maw. He enjoys tearing people down and would see you as a challenge but then soon move on, you aren't giving him the tears he wants and much rather have weaker prey.
Kanato with all your talents he can somewhat tolerate you, he will make it bake sweets for him often. Just don't take too long to make them. Other than that he would leave you alone.
Laito is all over you taking your affection a lot farther than he should, and enjoying your curves. As well as teasing your for your Motherly qualities and affection; he like  that your loyal and is cheesy right back. While he doesn't help you win improving yourself behind giving some support though and some claims of reward. Also he finds it niceness to have someone to listen to him.
Subaru someone who is spontaneous and touches him to convey affection would get on his nerves a bit.
Ruki would like to help you imrove yourself, and would enjoy how you listen. While finding your spontaneous energy to be a bit entertaining at time so he would try and use the burst of energy in a way he sees fit. Though he does not approve of you touching your Master whenever, after all you are still livestock. He will work you hard as well, perhaps to the bone but he sees it only fitting.
Kou would enjoy having your dance with him and sing with him if he finds you good enough. He will always expect something because after all you get to work with an idol, so perhaps you might want to refuse.
Yuma see you as free labor, he can work you to death to better his farm and I feel you don't listen to what he says their will be punishment.
Azusa isn’t interested, he hasn't his knifes and is more focused on that.
Your Best matches are as follows: Reiji and Ruki

We Need to Stop Telling Women They’ll Get Assaulted If They Travel Solo
Posted: 7/25/2019 | July 25th, 2019
Kristin Addis from Be My Travel Muse writes our semi-regular column on solo female travel. In this column, she goes deep into the shaming culture surrounding solo female travel and how women are often told it’s not safe to travel (while men are told no such thing). It’s not an easy topic but one that’s very pertinent and needs to be discussed.
Many of us solo travelers receive pushback. Depending on what other people think we should be doing with our lives instead, the pressure can range from mild guilting to quite disturbing warnings.
“You’ll never get another job, never find a partner, never have children (or settle down in time to have them), and never have financial security,” they say.
“You’ll be an easier victim, get robbed, or be killed.”
But one thing sticks out when we consider solo female vs. solo male travelers:
Women are told much more often than men that they will “get raped” if they travel alone.
Based on my own research conducted by polling large, travel-focused Facebook groups, out of nearly 1,000 responses, 69% of female respondents reported being told they’d get raped if they traveled solo vs. 6.6% of men*.
Certainly, if we consider the data on sexual assault of women vs. men, many more women are victims than men worldwide. In the US, according to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s 2010 report, nearly 1 in 5 women in the US have been raped at some point in their lives. The stats are similar in Canada, where over 600,000 sexual assaults are reported by women per year, which is estimated to only be 5% of cases while the rest go unreported. A 2014 report by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights shows similar numbers.
However, when we delve deeper into the numbers, we see that the overwhelming majority of this violence is inflicted by someone the victim knows. According to Statistics Canada, only 16% of violent assaults against women are carried out by a total stranger and in the US it’s estimated at around 22%.
What about when women travel abroad? I found that in countries with a lower socioeconomic status and even higher rates of sexual violence, the likelihood that the perpetrator was someone that the victim did not already know was also low, according to the World Health Organization’s global and regional estimates.
Further, the numbers show that getting sexually attacked abroad is rare. The number one crime is stolen passports. Unfortunately, the US does not report on sexual assault abroad, but the 2014 British Behaviour Abroad report does, and it shows that the government provided assistance to an average of 280 sexual assault victims abroad out of over 19,000 yearly consular assistance cases from 2009 to 2014.
Obviously, many sexual assaults go unreported abroad as well, and the world is generally not a safe place for women. Coercion still happens and the binge drinking culture in hostels doesn’t help keep women safe. However, based on all of the aforementioned research, it appears that most of the rapes that occur abroad take place between people who know each other and does not target tourists.
This suggests that, by traveling, a woman is potentially putting herself in a less threatening sexual-violence situation than when she’s at home.
This led me to wonder: Why is it that the warning to women that they’ll “get assaulted” if they travel alone is so pervasive, even when the data does not support this? Is it because whenever tragedy does befall a solo female traveler, it’s front-page news that also often suggests that it’s her fault?
Contrast this to when a solo male meets tragedy and is referred to as an adventurer and “lover of life.” Why is the opposite so often true for a woman — who, as many in the comment sections of these articles can’t help but point out, shouldn’t have been traveling alone?
Why are men allowed to travel alone and women aren’t?
Is it simply too threatening, whether consciously — or more likely unconsciously — to see a woman going against the typical status quo and having more self-agency? Is it too abnormal to see a woman deciding that she does not need a partner or a friend or any kind of chaperone on a journey to another country (which, for those from the US, is likely to be statistically safer)?
When a woman goes against the status quo, it triggers people’s fear of change and their discomfort over a life not fully lived. This is why even women caution other women about the dangers of solo travel. The warning almost always comes from someone who has not actually tried to travel alone and does not have any firsthand experience.
Moreover, even though the world population has exploded, women are still guilted about turning away from the traditional gender role of getting married and having babies. But this has only been “tradition” for a few hundred years. Whole villages, including men, used to be involved in child-rearing, but modern motherhood is often a solitary job. That sure does make it easy to take a woman’s — and indeed any human being’s — greatest power, which is giving life, and make it a burden. It takes away autonomy and takes one out of the workforce. It keeps women dependent and out of positions of power.
The results speak for themselves. Women are paid less, on average, than men the world over. There are fewer female CEOs and fewer women in government (except for in Rwanda, which also has the cleanest capital in the world), even though people do better under female leadership.
Thankfully, we’re seeing a worldwide shift and a discussion about the patriarchy coming to the forefront of mainstream media — something that’s been a long time coming, after centuries of female subjugation — but we have a long way to go.
Then there is the psychological effect of this pervasive warning given to solo female travelers to consider. Casting doubt on a woman’s sexual safety can powerfully affect her psyche, especially if she experienced sexual trauma at some point in her life already and has an altered emotional response to such threats.
That said, this warning about rape affects women whether they’ve experienced sexual trauma or not. A study conducted at a US university found that women who had not been victims of rape were still more likely to assume typical gender roles after being read a realistic description of a rape that had occurred on their own college campus, where the threat would feel more imminent to them.
Several similar studies referenced in the same book, Sex, Power, Conflict: Evolutionary and Feminist Perspectives, edited by David M. Buss and Neil M. Malamuth, found that just the threat of rape eroded trust of men by women and negatively affected women’s self-esteem and self-agency.
The threat of rape is a psychological weapon that is likely to discourage her not just from traveling but from trusting herself and her own abilities.
If a woman is mistrustful of men, and even worse, of her own self and abilities, then how in the world is she supposed to work up the courage to travel the world, especially solo? It’s much easier to keep a woman “in her place” if she doesn’t become independent, experience other cultures, and come to believe in herself and her abilities.
How, in light of this information, can we see telling a woman she’ll “get raped” as anything other than cruel and manipulative?
None of this is to lay blame on men, but rather lay out the facts: it’s false that a woman is more likely to get raped by traveling than she is by staying home.
We need to ask why female autonomy is such a scary concept in modern society. We need to recognize that by holding a woman back from her independence, even well-meaning friends and parents are killing her budding sense of self.
It’s up to all of us to support women who wish to grow and flourish in whatever ways they choose, including by traveling the world, especially solo. It’s the one thing in my life that built up more self-confidence and bravery than anything else I’ve done. I hope everyone gets to experience that at least once.
(Note: Unfortunately, there is a dearth of data on those who identify as nonbinary. Apart from the option I included in my own data collection — which still has too few responses to be statistically helpful — I didn’t see this group referenced in governmental research numbers. With that in mind, this post uses the data I do have access to, which focuses on those who identify as male or female.)

Bill Good looks into The Ubyssey March 12 2013
On March 12 1993, Bill Good had Ubyssey editors Frances Foran and Lucho van Isschot on his call in show on CKNW to diiscuss the growing public attention to the student newspaper. The Ubyssey was talked about on the air ffor almost an hour. I saved the audiotape of the show that I made--wow it was 25 years ago. My quotes are verbatim if I put them between quote marks. A meaty show. Three posts, I think. Good introduces the pair as asks "Does either of you think you went too far?" (Referring to several controversies he mentioned before asking the question. Frances Foran replies. She will do most os the talking for the two Ubyssey editors during this show . She says, re[lying to the has the Ubyssey changed over the years question Good puts next: "I Think not. I think The Ubyssey hasn't really changed over the 75 year course of its history. We've always been iconoclastic andapostatic (sp?). I think what's changed is the climate at UBC. It's become a lot more conservative amd we're feeling the backlash.... the students have become conservative and elitist." (Comment from Rick the post author. I think that what Frances was trying to get at is that UBC was starting to get gentrified in the 90s. If you said that, I wouls agred. With increases in the cost of education, it's probably worse now. But there will always be "limosene liberlals" They probably made up the bulk of people wanting to work for The Ubyssey back then.) Good comments that students were interesting in getting jobs--"...you're nodding your head...." Foran replies "They're part of the status quo and they're afraid of jeapordizing that." Good asks "Are students mad?" Foran says "I don't know...I'm not sure how many students actually read the paper. I know who's mad at us--the administration. They don't like the publicity and student council's mad as well." Bill Good asks about the transit editorial fuss. All that Foran says on that on the radio is in my post "It's not illegal if you don't get caught" Please scroll back to that. Foran then talks about the Ubyssey Valentines week "sex" issue. "What we did this year is to to epand the tradition terms of Lesbin/gay/bisexual and part of the reason for the hypocrisy around seuality and around censorship as welll..." Lucho van Isschot is asked if he agrees and says "Yeah, I agree that's a fair assesment of what we were aiming ai...." (Comment from Rick. Poor Lucho. He doesn't have much to say as Foran is taking the ball and heading for the end zone.) Good wants to discuss the transit editorial. Foran's comments are noted in the sbove post "it's not illegal if you don't get caught". After that is discussed, Good asks --paraphrase--What's the rolr of the campus newspaper and are you going to be reigbed in? Foran says "I think our role is, and should remain., to be critiacl of the form in which we exist. [UBC} is an increasingly elite institution and people don't like that....I think we're living in a society is more concerned about who's sleeping around eith whom, We want to be critical. We want to be analytical and inform. We want the freedom to do that and unforunately, I think we might be at the end." Good asks if people at the Unyssey want to be journalists. "Is there training around?" Foran answers: "It's a training ground for anyone who wants to be a journalist..." [Comment from Rick the post author : You could learn the very baics at The Ubyssey, but to become a "newsman", I had to start working at British Columbia Report. The Ubyssey wan't really a "j-school" during my time at the paper.) Rewinding Foran a little... "...a training ground for anyone who wants to become a journalist. I did wan't to become a journalist a couple years ago...but I don't any more....yeah, I guess I have smartened up. I've felt the linits and I know there is a lot of economic control." Van Isschot pipes up "all we've heard so far from the administration is second hand news. We read it in the Sun and via our stunt council but we havn't sat down and talked about tis so-called "problem" He adds "I think there is a lot of back room dealing and discussion about 'What to do with The Ubyssey." Foran revelas that she had graduated in 1992, so there had been talk among UBC adminiostration officials about her being an editor now. Van Isschot eplained that there was a new rule that editors had to be UBC students.. The Ubyssey had started to lose advertisers. For what it's woth, Foran next says: "One of the departments at UBC, the housing department, has gonr around to our advertisers to basically implimenting an ad boycott against up and there's basically beem a severe finacial downturn." (Comment from Rick, the post author. Maybe things were close to editors' vests and I was starting to write else where, but i don't recall this. Don't want to say that she's lying, though. Just don't know. But I was still around.) aterial arou (Another comment. The Ubyssey dropped to publisking once a week in the net decade with the recession. Maybe buying an ad in a student newspaper was seen as a boutique way of advertising. Controversywoldn't help though.) Van Isschot adds to what Foran says about a boycott. He said: "Apparently they are taking copies of the controversial material around the city. not just on campus and asking them to join in an unofficial ad boycott of The Ubyssey and subsequently we have recieved letters from people who have had the material brought to their attentiion." Then Bill Good opened the phone lines so that people could phone in. Bill Dobie was the first caller. At the time, he was presi.dent of the Alma Mater Society., the UBC student government/council. "I can tell you that students are angry with the paper," Dobie said. (Comment from Rick, the blog author: The sqeaky wheel gets the grease. I don't think that anyone did professional polling, on eother "side", to see what students thought.) Foran replies to Dobie. Part of what she says is that the AMS should not be publishing the paper. (When the ubyssey gets autonomy, which I'll discuss in a later post, an arm's length student board ill be the "publishers" of the Ubyssey.) Caller 2 sees The Ubyssey as a "product of the 60s" and adds "Stand by your principles? You're in for a helluva shock." Caller 3 was Aaron Drake of the Campus Times. He says that The Ubyssey is "unrepresentative" and that "the Campus Times came about as an answer to the Ubyssey problem" and that there is room for two papers on campus. (Comment from Rick the blog author--Youll recall from my post "The Campus Times" that the paper magically appeared when UBC staff decided to respect CUPE picket lines duren the en Ubyssey was shut ing a campus strike. It had a clear run of a year with all the advertising when The Ubyssey shut down and couldn't stay alive when The Ubyssey returned. So, basically, the Campus Times came into existence as "strikebreakers" when there wasn't a "Ubyssey problem" He's trying to make grist of The Ubyssey's woes.) Caller 4 points out that Foran is no longer a student which was already discussed on the program. (Comment from Rick the blog author: One year I yook one course to stay on the UBC books. Maybe Foran should have done the same. And caller--It Can Never Happen Again!) Van Isschot observes that it is (now was) hard to be a full time student when you are a Ubyssey editor. Caller 4 adds that un their opinion Foran has "a breathtaking naivete'" Caller 5 was at the same time a columnist for SFU's The Peak student newspaper and a member of SFU's student coucil. he observes that university papers should be angering the university administration. Bill Good says Goodbye to Frances Foran and Lucho Van Isschot, who leave the studio. But people still called in about The Ubyssey. . The next caller said "....Student newspapers should be impetuous." A couple calls later,, a caller that I will call Female Mystery Caller phoned in. She'll get a standalone post. Ubyssey critic Jason Saunderson calls in after the "MFC" I'll give him his own post too.

I found something useful
To help rehearse and get into character I use a mirror a lot I have noticed.
I think I like seeing the character from outside of myself.
I can work on everything in real time rather than film and have to take it step by step.
It helps me feel like I'm talking to someone as well.
When I'm angry, sad or whatever I monologue my thoughts to a mirror and it gets so intense but I can drop it real quick. It's a quick way for me to tap into my emotions and let them out without it being too dangerous.
I just cried in front of the mirror because I needed to. I tried to make it constructive as though I was finding out what makes me cry the most and how I can safely use that for a role. Honestly it's probably bullshit. But I found the two hardest things for me. And the two things that make me eother that happiest or the saddest. And fuck they both kill me.
