Sometimes you get bored and find yourself wandering around Spider Society looking for someone to bother. You were usually in Miguel's office hanging around while he worked. But he was on a mission with a new recruit. You couldn’t wait to meet her. Maybe she'd join the Spider Society book club you started. It was basically self-promo because they usually read the books that you write.

You were sitting in the cafeteria with Hobie and Gwen. They were practically your children. You all ate lunch together and talked about random gossip. "Have you met the new girl?" Hobie randomly interjected.

"No, I think I'll meet her when she comes back with Miguel," you replied.

"You're going to hate her," Gwen smirked.

You were surprised by her comment because she knew best that it was hard for you to hate someone. People annoyed you sometimes but you never really hated anyone very easily.

"How could you be so sure? You know I'm not a very hateful person," you interrogated.

"Well, I think you'll understand exactly what we're talking about within about 30 seconds of meeting her," Hobie replied smugly.

"Just because you guys don't like her, doesn't mean I won't. I'll even invite her to dinner," you claimed. That made Hobie laugh out loud.

"Sure sure," he sighed as he let out another chuckle.

Just then Miguel walked in with a girl. "Oh here she is," Gwen said in a sarcastically enthusiastic voice.

The moment she saw you she clung onto Miguel's arm. "Who's she? I don't think she's supposed to be here, she doesn't look like any kind of spider woman," she complained.

In response, Miguel pulled his arm away from her and walked towards you. "Uh, no need to fret Justine, this is my wife," he said before giving you a quick kiss.

"Oh, cool," she said, looking you up and down.

"Hey Hobie, I thought you said this was the new girl, this woman looks well over 40," you quipped. Gwen laughed out loud again at that. You saw Miguel crack up and try to hide his smile with his hand out of the corner of your eye.

Jessica or whatever her name was got embarrassed and excused herself shortly after. Was it necessary to say that? No, absolutely not. Did you say it anyway? Hell yeah.

"What happened to inviting her to dinner?" Hobie asked. earning an eyebrow raised from Miguel.

"She said she did think she would hate Justine and she would even invite her to dinner," Gwen explained.

"Please don't invite her over" Miguel begged as you rested your head on Miguel's shoulder.

"You won't have to worry about that," you replied.

The drive back home was quiet. Music was playing on the radio, but you were silent. Staring out the window overthinking about the new girl. Why was she clinging to him like that? Why do I feel this way? You thought to yourself.

"There's no need to be jealous over Justine," Miguel stated as he turned the music down so the two of you could talk.

Jealous? Am I jealous? You asked yourself. "I'm not jealous, I just didn't like the way she was touching you, and talking to you, and looking at you, it pissed me off," you said.

"That's jealousy, my dear," Miguel hummed back.

"Is not," you responded, knowing he was right. I mean when is he not, right?

"Is too," he responded, you could hear the laughter in his voice.

"Okay fine, I'm jealous of her Miguel, she's so young and pretty and I'm not that," you sighed.

"Yeah, you're mine, and prettier," he assured.

"You're just saying that dude," you responded with a playful eye roll. You had made it a habit to call him "dude" or "bro" whenever you were upset.

"Don't dude me, I'm serious darling," he started. He parked in the garage, took off his seat belt, and turned to you.

"You're the only one for me," he whispered looking into your eyes and brushing a wisp of your stray hair behind your ear. With that wisp of hair, he brushed away all of your insecurities with his words instead of his hand.

Yandere Leviathan; who didn't seem half as dangerous as his brothers, but oh goodness he knew his way around words. Lucifer was the manipulator, and Leviathan is the best at gaslighting.

Yandere Leviathan; who is a sucker for attention, all while hating it. But if that attention is from you, how can he resist? Levi is like a snake, he can be very cunning and manipulative at times. Acting innocent? Granted. Sneaking around? Yes. No one disturbs him in his room, no one knows what goes on with him, and most of all, many just see him as a Ruri-chan obsessed freak. This gives him enough space to plant his plans.

Yandere Leviathan; who can't express his affection with tender touches and sugar coated words. Though... he can do it by isolating you and spending time with you all the time. Doesn't it sound fun? You'll probably end up with online classes and TSL marathons instead of actually studying! It must sound like a dream come true, no matter what.

I really dislike Chaggie being compared to Jally. I ship both, but....

Jack and Sally aren't a couple in Nightmare til the very end. Jack only comes around once he's literally been shot at and forced to see things out of his fantasies for once and realize that other people really do love and support him; like Sally. The entire rest of the time Jack's stuck in his own mind. Sally's in love with Jack but she's actually not supportive of his Christmas and even tries sabotaging it because she knows what he's doing is wrong even if it took an unexplained visionflower for her to get that hunch first. Her line is literally "although I'd like to stand by him" not "I support him even if I really don't want to". And in the end not only is Sally vindicated by being right like Santa says she is, but Jack suddenly realizes what she's done and falls for her right then. YMMV on how good a couple they'd actually make ((they aren't Diane and Mr. PB; eat shoot Lindsay Ellis *annoying cries*)) but that's what's cute about Jack and Sally: Sally does her pining maturely (stalking not included) while Jack instantly falls all over in love with her because he's Jack.

I understand there are different interpretations w people think Jack was always in love with Sally but obviously I digress and have always kind of disagreed with that reading, as did the writers of TNBC. Because, if you did have a version where Jack was always feeling something romantic towards Sally, or WORSE, was in a relationship- you would get Charlie x Vaggie.

If I'm right (seasoned hazbinnies feel free to correct me on this) Charlie and Vaggie were not written to be lovers initially but later retconned into being later into the writing process....which shows. I think promo stuff from back then called the two just "friends" and Vaggie and Charlie don't act very romantic. As I just laid out and as any shipper of Jally could tell you it's not hard to make that kind of dynamic cute and quirky. The problem is it isn't even THERE.

Vaggie is apparently Charlie's girlfriend and I guess just also believes in the hotel but is skeptical of it, though I wouldn't consider that on par w Sally who was straight up gonna poison Jack in one of Caroyln Thompson's earlier scripts. Especially given that she's an angel this could either work for or against her character but Vaggie seems more like an agent then a loving bestie, even. I think I remember one of the spin off comics for Hazbin which had Vaggie just straight up admitting she's doing the hotel plan because it makes Charlie happy and she'll do anything Charlie wants.

To be honest, it reminds me more of Dr. Mrs. the Monarch from Venture Bros going on about how/why she puts up with Monarch's shit when he doesn't listen to her and it's because he has "passion for a villain"...the difference is that in that case you can kind of get where Mrs. the Monarch's coming from in her emotions. With Vaggie, well, guess that's a sin of not having all the details of her feelings laid out yet. I mean, when you ever get Vaggie's feelings. Such little work about your main couple in comparison to Angel or Alastor.

AND THEN CHARLIE? You can really tell she wasn't written w Vaggie as her gf in mind.

Boy howdy I REALLY HOPE for the series that Viv and co listened to some of the crew complaints and gave Charlie a more empathetic and supportive vibe because ho mah gawd and I mean this as someone who ships them- Charlie is a HORRIBLE girlfriend in the pilot.

Again, thematically, Jack has the excuse of being in a manic depressive episode and also not knowing Sally very much at all in TNBC. He sees her as just another one of his Halloween Town friends who's especially talented but doesn't even realize she and the rest of the town cares. He's not listening to her when she comes to warn him because he's self obsessed. He's nice to her but also passive cause that's how he is at that point of the story, even if he's gentlemanly about it. Compare to Charlie who, while always adorable Didneyprincessesque, is dismissive of Vaggie's concerns, anger, fears and reform while she's not only aware of Vaggie's feelings WHILE BEING IN AN APPARENTLY COMMITTED RELATIONSHIP WITH HER is concerning. And that's before you get to Charlie not noticing Vaggie getting tossed around by Alastor right in front of her.

It'd be different if Al does his weird smarmy shit and Charlie is uncomfy but only stiffens up and shows her actual strong side to him when he touches Vaggie- "HEY! Don't you lay a finger on her!" but no, nothing.

I ultimately get what Viv wants and is going for by comparing Charlie and Vaggie to tnbc, but I think in practice in the pilot it fails because it

was never planned out to be a couple

they're supposed to be a couple but Charlie and Vaggie aren't all that romantic

they're supposed to be a couple but Charlie isn't very supportive or even defensive

People give Jack a lot of shit (rightfully, in the video games) and give the movie and Jally shit for being a "bad fit" but I again vouch for them not only on the grounds of tnbc being complete and at home in it's own skin. The rest of the franchise not so much, but the movie and the writers of the character know what kind of person Jack is and have his redemptive quality be that he falls for Sally; I love him and Sally both as characters but also as a couple for that reason. I'd feel totally different if Jack, say, was Sally's bf throughout the film and acted the way Charlie did. I can be critical of TNBC and I think some of Jack's writing is flawed and could be better, but y'know, I will defend it pedantically like I'm doing right now.

With Charlie and Vaggie, I ship them because they're my favorite characters from the pilot but dayum. I'm the kind of hermitshipper who's able to sustain myself off scraps and headcanons and even I'm saying these two need some work. Cuz they do. They need A LOT of work. And better writers.

If Chaggie is ''endgame'' in the final season then I hope "A Happy Day in Hell" is just an outlier scene or it's going to be retconned that they aren't lovers yet because if not- oh Vaggie! Get urself a Hasani Walker comic and fast my gurl you need it.

At only 27 years old he owns his own private practice and has made a name for himself in such little time. A lot of people are skeptics, claiming he’s far too young to know what the hell he’s doing, and that he’s overrated. He used to get so many comments about him being a scammer, ripping off clients, and a whole bunch of other bullshit on the daily.

It was infuriating but he’s not the person he used to be. Plus he can’t fight thousands of strangers on the internet. So he addressed it one time and one time only on ig live.

“I don’t do promo like y’all’s favorite dentists, and I don’t fancy putting big white cinderblocks in people’s mouths for a couple thousand dollars like y’all’s favorite dentists.”

“If you don’t wanna work with me, that’s cool, but don’t disrespect me or my craft. My work is immaculate so pay my fucking price, or don’t, but somebody will and you’ll know the difference.”

Of course it went viral, probably cus he said the whole thing with a smile on his face. That was nearly a year ago and he’s been your dentist since, and in the span of that year he’s come to like you a lot—enough to say you’re his favorite client. It makes him so fucking happy that you’ve started to smile for him more, no longer self-conscious about your imperfect smile, now you give him real smiles showing damn near all thirty two of your teeth.

Smiley loves the way you keep yourself up—hair and nails always done and you always smell good as fuck, it’s obvious you’re a high maintenance, luxury bitch. My absolute favorite DL characters in no particular order:

🌸 YUI KOMORI 🌸

Never understood the hate towards Yui. Again the anime is a promo for the game and it did not do her character justice at all. The prequel and sequels for some of the mangas did her character justice. She’s a very kind and compassionate person, she’s HUMAN and grew up in a church, she’s a soft girl who doesn’t like violence so y’all can only imagine what this girl has to go thru meeting a bunch of bloody thirsty horny vampire boys, who have severe parental issues and a bunch of other abusive behavioral problems, but she is very patient with each and every brother in all the routes and I love that about her, she’d be a really good therapist too lmao. She’s an Angel, must be protected at all times. I won’t tolerate any Yui hate on this blog.

Poster boy for the entire franchise. A lot of people find him to be annoying, he is annoying and we love his Aries self for that. While Ayato is a menace to society he’s got a good side to him as well and for the most part knows right from wrong, more than some of the fandom gives him credit for. I also really like his character design, he kinda looks like a mean little bat. They give him a lot of cute and playful moments with Yui and I think that’s beautiful especially in a dark themed game series, they have serious moments but also a lot of light hearted moments and I think that’s important to lighten up the mood sometimes.

👨‍🌾 YUMA MUKAMI👨‍🌾

First off, I absolutely love his character design, the messy long hair and he’s a giant too plus they gave him realistic human hair and eyes to show that he used to be human, maybe I’m thinking too deep on it idk. I absolutely love the identity crisis he had due to his amnesia and the connection with Shu, it brought that twin flame connection back, I love those best friend tropes a lot, his voice actor also is Mako from Free! So I have no choice but to Stan Yuma. Yuma also has a lot more self awareness then the rest of his adoptive brothers and thinks ahead due to his past experiences, he knows that he’s a vampire now but still has a garden for food and has sugar cubes with him at all times, he uses his past experiences and acknowledges that it happened then moves forward he doesn’t dwell on it too much.

🔪AZUSA MUKAMI🔪

He’s a lil creepy, and socially awkward at times but he’s just so relatable sometimes. He’s very soft spoken and he a lil wild with his pain tolerance and some of the out of pocket shit that he says, but I think he’s such a sweetheart, protect him at all costs as well, even his brothers know to protect him at all costs.

🎻 SHU SAKAMAKI 🎻

Shu will forever be my favorite DL boy, he doesn’t like doing anything but can do everything and do it perfectly too. He has severe ptsd, depression, and detachment issues. No you can’t fix him even Yui realizes this and just accepts him for who he is because that’s the only way it’ll work. He’s also hilarious without even trying to be, he says some mean shit at times but it’s so unhinged like damn Shu you don’t have the energy to eat, shower, wipe your ass but you got the energy to completely disrespect all your siblings with a few words. Also his beef with Reiji is somewhat familiar grounds especially if you have a sibling that is constantly irritating your soul. I always felt like I could relate to Shu the most due to him having a hard time getting close to people after losing his best friend, he can’t just get over it either, I don’t like when people would say “oh it happened a long time ago” yes it did but everyone heals at their own pace and it’s important to acknowledge that as well.

Deadpool's voice and its media portrayals

I read this post by @jhirowolf and @spider-mand, which inspired me to make my own post specifically about dp's voice - please read the og post first!

In the comics it's known that Deadpool has a unique voice - his speech boxes are yellow while everyone elses' are white. What makes it unique is its quality (it's described as rough, raspy and gravelly) but I also think that it's its cadence too (i'll get in to this below). Unfortunately, Ryan's voice in the movies doesn't really come close to this - for multiple reasons.

Ryan's voice physically is very smooth and also pretty high but I get the sense that as dp, he doesnt really do much for his voice, he is pretty much just himself and cracking jokes. As @jhirowolf pointed out, he kind of has this smooth, sarcastic tone. For me the vibe is that of a stereotypical side-character who mumbles sarcastic comments at whatever the other characters are doing. Ryan's voice is often mellow, calm and even

I dont have concrete examples right now, but in the comics SO many characters call Wade insane mere minutes upon meeting him, despite the fact that they dont know anything about him apart from the fact that he is a mercenary.

Why? Because of his voice!

Immediately upon hearing him talk they conclude he is unhinged and unstable and generally unwell. He's loud, aggressive, speaks a mile a minute and on top of that makes dark jokes serious situations that no one else laughs at. It freaks people out and rightfully so! Adding on to this, I think he varies his pitch and rhythm frequently, further making him appear unstable because his voice is never even or monotone for more than a few seconds. I'm basing this on the fact that his speech bubbles are so much bigger than everyone else's (he talks a lot) and also bc he varies his facial expressions and body language a lot when he speaks.

@jhirowolf mentions that Denis Leary was the inspiration for his voice, which i had no idea about but looking at this video, I think his cadence is perfect. You feel that unlimited energy, the loudness, the unpredictableness, his voice and the look behind his eyes make him seem manic and frantic - which it should! It puts people on edge around him, gives him his reputation of being unpredictable and also makes him regard him as insane. Wade doesnt give a shit about norms for socializing, how loud or crass he is - hes got shit to say and hes gonna say it, no matter how much it may annoy, offend or make others uncomfortable

Nolan's voice, on the other hand, isn't perfect either bc it kind of has the similar smooth quality as ryans, its not gravelly, raspy or anything. But his cadence is soo good! He's calm one minute but you never know when he's gonna snap and lose his shit, i love it

And yeah, Nolan's performance and the funny moments are the only good thing to come out of this game (well i guess another positive is that it made him more popular, it certainly was one of my first encounters which made me interested in him). The bad thing is the amount of damage it did to the complexity of dp's character - they stripped away his layers, the serious and tragic parts that make up who he is, instead of this they literally gave him 1 trait - insane. And that was it. I blame Way's 2008 run for this bc he essentially did the same thing - but the game turned it up to 11. Way at least included several serious and earnest moments where Wade was forced to be introspective and face his issues

in conclusion - so far our ears havent yet been blessed to hear wade's voice

On people taking their fic down to get it published as an original work: is it really THAT annoying, though? I feel fortunate that so many genuinely great writers choose to put their energy into writing fanfic for free. Seems a bit petty to get peeved off when one in a thousand (or less) decides to try and turn their novel-length fic into an actual novel that could jumpstart a writing career. I wish them good luck. Nothing wrong at all with trying to turn your hobby into something to help pay the bills. (Unless the author pulls some asshole behavior to go along with it, as has happened in some high-profile cases 🙄)

Also, as others have noted, taking the fic down is not really about "making the original readers pay to reread it." I think everyone understands that fic gets archived and someone who really wants to revisit the original fic will be able to dig it up. Filing off the serial #s and publishing is about trying to reach a totally new audience, and not necessarily one that overlaps much with fanfic readers.

(Very interested in your thoughts on all this as both a fic writer and pro author, OTNF.)

Yes, it's fucking annoying!

Workshop your pro novel at your writers' group where you're all aspiring authors mutually helping each other. Don't use fandom for that.

I don't think it's morally depraved or anything, but I do think it's tacky. I also think the resulting novel generally sucks.

If you can write one novel, you can write more than one novel.

Pulling to publish just feels weird to me, like the non-writer view where ideas are precious and rare. I'd understand better if it actually were about time and energy—the things truly in short supply for all creatives—but the revision process to turn a fic original takes a ton of time, and not taking that time results in a crummy product that's not going to launch a career on its own anyway. (And before someone says "Fifty Shades", that author's great talent is for marketing and self promo, skills many, many authors lack.)

I don't think it's about making the readers pay to reread at all, but I dislike the practice for other reasons. I wish them all the luck in the world trying to start a writing career, but I don't think this is the way to do it.

so like the thing about the limbus descriptions, right. the ones for the promo material, the documents dante has or whatever. where it lists the particulars of each character.

theyre completely fucking inaccurate.

so lets take ishmael for example.

ishmael is described as "carrying out missions without much complaint" and "having sound judgement". one of these is true and its not the one about her not complaining lol.

however, there are times where her judgement isn't sound. like, at all. off the top of my head, i can think of her jumping to the most negative conclusions immediately several times, such as with sang yi, with heathcliff, with several other incidents...

this isnt to say she doesnt have sound judgement...but it is to say that the description isn't that accurate. and she's one of the ones i DO agree with the particular for! (i've seen people say she isn't ocd on here before, but personally relate way too much to her issues to agree.)

there's more examples of these, too!

outis is made to look suspicious from the start - and yeah sure she's fishy but i don't think she's nearly as traitorous as the description implies.

heathcliff is described as "simple-minded" and as having violent outbursts for no reason, when neither of these are true (i disagree with the perception that he doesnt have anger issues - you can have those and be self-aware/controlled lol)

yi sang's documentation lacks crucial information, as does everyone else's - and yes i'm aware it's promo material, but even promo material and removed content is important with project moon LMAOOOO never forget when they brought back several removed abnos for ruina

hong lu's is...complicated, because there's a chance that the writer just bought into his "stupid rich kid" act. but also not really accurate. not really sure where bachelor comes in but i assume we'll see that in his canto

basically all of the sinners - barring gregor who...doesn't really have much to explain about him to be fair - have inaccurate or missing info. and no, i don't mean "they didnt explain yi sangs backstory in depth", i mean they straight up did not mention his self-isolation when they DID mention similar maladaptive habits in other sinners (don, heathcliff, rodya, etc)

the fact that we are given inaccurate information from the start makes me wonder exactly what the goal here is. idk how this relates to the story. i need to connect dots. but here let me segue into my actual point:

people trust in these descriptions way, way, way too much.

sure, yes, on the surface it seems like they're accurate. but after canto i - even during canto i - it becomes glaringly obvious that they aren't. at all.

and yeah i know it's whatever but i'm really sick of seeing abusive heathcliff and "donqui is so stupid LOLLLL" takes everywhere. this is more aimed at twitter but yeah

The Inx: Jinx's Great and Terrible Devotees in Spite of Conv/rgence

The most annoying thing about Conv/rgence as a game is that it introduces great concepts, like the Inx, but just fumbles the execution of them and the overall story.

In Conv/rgence the Inx are a new chempunk gang of Zaunite teens and young adults that idolize and borderline worship Jinx to the point where they're said to spread chaos in her name. But the Zaun that Conv/rgence establishes tells a different story about the Inx from the intended description.

The first time the Inx appear is in the Conv/rgence comic, where the lead members like Chadd play at the Triumph Festival. It's supposed to be a Zaunite festival to celebrate Jayce's defeating Viktor, the Machine Herald. If the Inx follow Jinx's lifestyle why would they even play at such an event to celebrate a Piltovan, and why would Zaunites think the Inx wouldn't make trouble over it? I could go on about how weird it is for Zaun to host a festival to celebrate Jayce, a Piltovan champion for a fight unrelated to them and their wellbeing, but that would take too long.

For people who admire Jinx's boldness, the best they can do in the comics is pretty harmless vandalism where they just graffiti Jinx's monkey tag over some walls. The Inx are also nowhere to be seen in major events like the Scraptown Run, which apparently all Zaun gangs participate in.

Then there's members like Moshpit Meg. Meg's a diehard Jinx fan that loves Jinx's attitude and dedication to explosions. Before that Meg was admired Vi, the enforcer, because Vi's gauntlets reminded Meg of her own naturally big fists and it made her feel less self conscious about her own hands. That second half begs too many questions I don't have time for.

Outside of aesthetic choices there isn't really anything about the Inx that says they're people who stake their identity around Jinx. This is largely because Conv/rgence's universe works hard to sanitize Zaunite grievances against Piltover which directly undermines the central class conflict between Zaun and Piltover. It also largely impacts the motivations and general existence of characters like Jinx and the people who follow her, like the Inx, because they wouldn't exist in the absence of Piltover's oppression.

To avoid addressing any real conflict between the two cities the Inx are only vaguely make sense in the story, especially the game. All except for one element, Chadd. I need to say this...

Chadd is Accidentally (on Purpose?) Great

The brief moments the audience gets to know Chadd's character gives us an interesting glimpse at the people Jinx inspires.

The first thing we know about Chadd is that he's a musician, and it's neat trait that connects him to the musical roots of Jinx's character. In League, Jinx was the first champion in League to debut with a music video. It was through Jinx's character that Riot and Fortiche begun experimenting League with music. So it's very fitting that Convergence creates a chorus of sorts for Jinx to continue that musical tradition. To add to that, the game's promo posters decided to reestablish Jinx's connections by making her a talented karaoke singer.

The next thing to know about Chadd is that he was the one who planne and organized the Inx to transform a rundown theatre into an airborne concert arena. Red, Ekko's close friend and romantic interest in the game, confirmed that it was Chadd who was the one to make it happen, within a week too. It's an impressive creative feat that's clearly in homage to "Get Jinxed's" aerial imagery. Despite how cool a stunt that was I couldn't see how it was meant to impress Jinx, she was the most destructive thing in the theater... until I read the transcript "Hold me like a Fermata".

A shotgun, a flame thrower... who's funeral were you planning Chadd!??!? Just for context this was a transcript Ekko found of Chadd and the Inx talking about a new weapon (and sound system?) Chadd seemed to have made. I'm sure Chadd was the one who made it because the Fermata is also the name of a musical note that represents a pause (sometimes dramatic) in a score.

If you're familiar with music you might also know that the Fermata has more than one name, it's also referred to as "the Cyclops Eye". That kind of reference to Silco used on a weapon for a later act to honor Jinx couldn't have been lost on the writers because the Eye of Zaun was already found on an Inx hangout.

When I finally noticed all these details I finally got that Chadd is dangerously devoted to Jinx. All the points in his character can only lead us to conclude the real plan wasn't to just play obnoxiously loud music when the theater reached Piltover's heights, it was to destroy Piltover with all the weapons they equipped on it. That's the best idea I can come up with because Jinx immediately throws bombs at their plan to cause havoc in Piltover... for reasons. It does match Jinx's track record at least, usually other dangerous or apathetic champions tend to appreciate her, like Urgot, Renata Glasc, and Khada Jhin.

Even Chadd's concept art communicates that he's probably more devoted to Jinx than rest of the Inx. The way his early design evolves to reflect Jinx's influence could even tell a story. The more this douchey glam rocker finds inspiration in Jinx the more he changes himself and his art to reflect Jinx's impact. Chadd grows his hair out, wears his tattoo of Jinx in the same place she wears hers, and even dresses more like her, but he still retains his own diva personality.

One last thing, the funniest thing about Chadd is the fact that both Ekko and Red seperately ask him to explain himself and what "statement" he's trying to make with the Inx. Chadd just flat out refuses to answer, and even breaks up with Red over that. I thought he was being douche (he was), but then I remembered Jinx doesn't explain herself in game either about the mayhem she causes, she just taunts anyone who asks. The student learns from the master I guess.

Tldr: In the Converegence game and comics the Inx are characterized by mild vandalism and pretentious artists. And I could almost get behind that idea if only Convergence wasn't so heavily biased towards Piltover the dynamics of a group like the Inx could have had a more interesting exploration in their motivations and goals. Also, Chadd is a dipshit and he makes a great follower of Jinx!

NMTDaily: Football Antics Part Two

- Aww I forgot about Ursula’s friendship with Dogberry and Verges. They’re so cute. Stealing the muffins.

- I just really love how Ursula bonds with people by helping with their video blogs. And she bonds with Hero over baking. Ursula makes things and helps other people make things and that makes her happy. I love that. She’s a sweetheart.

- All this is another example of how judgmental Beatrice can be, saying the year nines are weird and Ursula shouldn’t hang out with them. She says what she’s feeling and doesn’t think first.

- Pedro! The Prince of Messina! I love the Summer Lovin moment, he really always was a theater kid. It’s very cute. It is, of course, also foreshadowing.

- Pedro immediately brings up Ben. Is he testing Bea’s reaction to see if she seems interested in Ben, similar to the way Ben is about to be all “is Pedro your boyfriend?” I see you, Pedro.

- “How’s Benedick? Still pirouetting through life?” One of my favorite little lines there, lol. It’s just life, so keep dancing through! (Speaking of being a theater kid, lol)

- “He changes friends as often as he changes shirts” is not supposed to make me so sad! Ben always being too scared to show his real self, hiding behind being the loudest and the funny one, hopping from friend to friend and never building too deep a connection with anyone because he doesn’t believe it will last. Because when it does get deep, he gets scared and pulls away. And to an outside view it just looks like he’s fickle and doesn’t care. Just so much meaning there. AND he fails to notice that he’s been Pedro’s friend for like five years now, so some of his friendships do last! Having an “I can’t keep a friendship” complex AND at least one years-long friendship you take for granted at the same time is a massive social anxiety mood. I did not develop that headcanon for him until the promo photos for Lolilo came out, but there was still evidence in NMTD!

- And Bea audibly groaning and being annoyed that Ben’s new best friend is Claudio, because she wants Hero to be happy but she does not want Ben hanging around them more.

- “You did the thing! You’ve gotta be ready for anything Claudio!” Ugh I cringe every time lol but also Ben is adorable at the same time?

- Sometimes you really need the subtitles, because I have never noticed Bea and Pedro’s little exchange there before! B: “Honestly that’s so typical.” P: “They’re always getting on top of each other.” That’s one for the Ben/Claudio crush truthers for sure, lol

- cringeeeee ugh Ben why do you sound like you’re about to hit on Hero I’m uncomfortable. Hilarious that he’s apparently forgotten who Hero is though, given that he definitely remembers Beatrice.

- He apparently also has never heard of YouTube before this moment. And we’re off to the “everything you say is SO wrong and annoying, I HAVE to correct you” races!

- Pedro with the self-preservation instinct just immediately making a run for it. He has been here in between these two arguing before and he did not like it.

- I was wondering why Bea didn’t make an excuse to avoid Ben by going off with Pedro just then, but I realized it’s because of the camera and tripod! She couldn’t leave without her stuff. Trapped by the vlog! Lol

- Ben’s immediate emotional response on seeing Bea again just being “I’m extremely threatened by the idea that you might have a boyfriend, please tell me you don’t.” like. Buddy. Pal. Who were you ever fooling? Incredible.

- And speaking of cringe. We are getting the establishment of Benedick seeming to be just another one of the misogynist guys, because every time he talks about women I cringe so hard I can’t look at the screen. I hope Beatrice makes fun of him for “I could explode your universe” literally all the time after they start dating.

- She is so not having it, and her disinterest just makes him go even harder trying to get under her skin. I love these annoying teenagers SO. MUCH. *cracks up laughing*

- Poor Ursula, not as quick as Pedro to avoid being stuck in the middle. Lol

- But the thing is, Bea just took the wind right out of Ben’s sails because “you’ve never scored anything off the football pitch” is TRUE. He talks big, but he’s actually not very experienced at all. That’s how I interpret the flustered “you’d be surprised about what I know”, anyway. And it’s a smart adaptation for a teenage version of Mr “Ladies Love Me But I Love None” from the play, if so.

- Bea sees right through him. He can’t hide behind bravado with her, she already knows it’s bullshit. And that’s why realizing he loves her is going to be so scary for him.

- And he storms off, leaving Beatrice pleased as punch because she wins by default. If she pushes his buttons long enough, he gives up. “You always end on a jade’s trick” indeed. And she ends smiling, because she likes sparring with him (and winning). The day wouldn’t be complete for her without it.

- Someone in the comments points out that Ben forgot to pick up his football uniform shirt that he dropped, and I don’t know what’s funnier, him waiting for her to leave and slinking back to grab it, or her taking it home and then tossing it on his desk the next day at school with another insult about how gross it is, setting off another argument (while all their classmates roll their eyes).

- And then there’s the fact that Beatrice, who just hates Ben so much, can’t stop herself from replying to a comment about him in the comment section with a complaining link to his new YouTube channel! They are obsessed with each other! It is wild. (Also a very in-character way for TCW to use Bea to make sure that the audience knows to follow Ben’s channel for his part of the story.)

- All I can think of is that tumblr post about looking at your enemies to lovers ship in their “I hate your stupid face” phase and cackling like “ohhhh just you wait, you are gonna LOVE that stupid face!” They’re gonna love each other SO much, and they’re gonna be SO mad about it! It just makes me so happy!!! 🥰

Re: Bojan's tone with the Käärijä question, I was also kinda caught off guard by it. I first saw the interaction only in a text post which didn't convey the tone, but I just saw the video. I'm sure he is not annoyed by Jere (considering that he just a few days ago posted about the Emma gaala and everything), but I was still a bit taken aback (but I'm also an anxious bojere bitch so it might just be me). Hopefully everything is okay. It's not the first time he's been a bit annoyed by the constant Käärijä related questions, of course, it's just that lately he has seemed more fine with them (like you said, in that recent podcast, for example) and even bringing up Jere himself, even when he didn't have to. So yeah, the sudden annoyance seemed to kinda come out of nowhere.

And one thing I've kinda been silently side-eyeing is the way Bojan and the other JO boys have publicly congratulated Jere for the new single and now for the Emma wins. And Jere has said nothing about their new single. I mean, he is obviously not obligated to do so, and I guess he mostly uses his social media to promote his work and other personal shenanigans (as he should). Because unlike the boys, who have their personal accounts as well as the band's official account for just the band promo, he just the one account for everything. Still, I was a bit surprised he didn't acknowledge it at all. (But of course, may have done so privately.) And actually, did he acknowledge SSOL either? The whole Nordic Tour is a complete blur to me lol.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I'm just overthinking everything as usual. And needed to say it "out loud" to someone. So thank you for "listening", I guess. 😅🩷

But I wouldn't read too deeply into it, he probably didn't mean much by it? He wasn't his happiest self since he is sick, and honestly it doesn't sound annoyed to me?

And I didn't think it was weird at all that Jere didn't post about EW, I don't think he uses IG that way nowadays, it's just for promoting his own stuff. I don't think we should put too much stock on what we see publicly anyway, it's only a very small part of their relationship and can be totally random. I enjoy it when they acknoledge each other, but it's not the be all end all of their thing.

Agent H's Movie Reactions

Ladybug and Cat Noir the Movie

A reimagining of how Ladybug and Chat Noir, and their secret identities Marinette and Adrien, met, fell in love, and saved the world

-I was trying so hard to make this a non-comparison reaction and judge it on it's own basis, but there's just too little in the actual movie and too much to actually say so here we go lol

-Truly I think the weakest part of this movie is just the script. The dialogue is so generic, it's almost soulless. It has to directly say what the characters feel at all times and has to give the most basic children's movie messages as the answer. For ex, that scene where she meets Tikki, and Tikki just speedruns the explanations is so bad bc like, the reveal of the power is an important part of any superhero story, and them speedrunning it is like "lol, we don't care, you know the deal, let's just move past it" which is bad for immersing yourself in the story

-Marinette is so generic here, it was annoying to me. And she keeps talking about her dreams and fears but what are your dreams and fears?? All she is just timid and awkward here (which makes sense why people are goo gah over this version)

-Personally, I don't like the idea that your old self is bad and you have to get rid of it but that's just me

-Marinette wears a tank top underneath the jacket??? she’s just like me fr

-That poll going around that was like, What was the message of the movie? I thought that was a joke and there was obviously a correct answer. But oh no. They genuinely just changed the message of the movie like every twenty minutes

-What was the point of making the Ladybug and Cat rivals if Ladynoir immediately solve working together like the second time they meet. And what does the "stronger together" mean, like was it making their superpowers literally stronger or was it just teamwork is better?

-Everyone just felt mean to each other? Like Adrienette/Ladynoir, but also like Marinette wouldn't be so mean to her dad? And Alya teasing her about being friendless? And Chat Noir could be seen as joking around but they don't give that impression enough, so he comes off as kind of just a jerk.

-Chat Noir is adorable until he speaks. I love that little arms-flailing run from the gargoyle in the church

-Also I need that dialogue scene of "I have nine lives, razor-sharp sense, etc." to be like a meme picture set please

-HE HAS LITTLE GLITTER ON HIS MASK :(((

-Yeah, I have no idea why Marinette likes Adrien other than he's hot when they first meet. (And I have no idea what his deal is. Why was he sitting lonely in the library? How does he know Chloe? How does he know Nino and no one else? No explanations!!)

I have no idea why Chat Noir likes Ladybug other than she saved his life. Like, okay, and? This movie seems to think that the only good acts is saving someone from danger, and all the million good tiny acts that the characters do in the show that fundamentally are a part of who they are isn't important

-Some of the Ladynoir banter was a little more banter-is-cool-right-right? than characters-actually-talking-and-bantering

-That being said, I AM NOT IMMUNE TO LADYNOIR

-The animation is gorgeous HOLY FUCK. I could watch these scenes all day. And I don't really mind, with some exceptions (ALYA. MARINETTE'S DAD), the character designs

-I did scream at seeing Luka. But upon a closer look, wtf did they do to him

-I liked Chloe's design in the promos, but I don't actually like it that much here, her hair is too stringy

-*Me cradling show!Plagg and whispering* "Who did this to you? Who hurt you like this? I will kill them all for you." (No, but seriously, No Plagg's galaxy design? The fart jokes? The not-caring-about Adrien?)

-I can't believe they've made me say this, but I think I prefer Hawkmoth's show design? His face is a little too expressive here (esp when Gabriel's really isn't), and it weirds me out

-I do think it's cute to have all the classmates and side character cameos

-There was some shots that just felt confusing, like I'm not sure where they wanted my focus to be

-Some of the back and forth scenes could've been edited a little sharper

-Hahaha, I like that they unnecessarily amped up the yoyo design

-If they were really doing such big-budget animation, they should've gone for it and given the characters new outfits and all each day. I'd pay for it

-I was THIS close to just skipping all the songs. And honestly I should've, they (except maybe the Ladynoir falling in love song?) didn't add anything to the story.

-I always love Lou singing for Marinette, but the contrast between Cristina's speaking and Lou's singing is SO BAD WHO APPROVED THIS

-Girl, you can't have a self-realization song in the middle of a fair on fire

-This movie owes me money for making me watch Gabriel sing. It was a fun song, but you owe me reparations

-"A she-ro!" Boooo! Negative points for trying too hard! Haha, Also Ladybug literally wasn't doing anything atm when Alya said that

-Nino having a crush on Alya is so cute

-Adrien sad boi hours

-“Evil Miraculous” Nooroo doesn’t deserve this slander :(

-Master Fu was, uh, a lot

-Also, they keep harping on, You have to save the world!! (Oh my goodness why was Tikki so serious) Which like makes me appreciate how the show smartly keeps it's stakes reasonable and contained to Paris bc that's such an easy pitfall for superhero genres to fall into

-Ladybug and Chat Noir didn’t even save the day??

-Sheesh, and you guys were mad thinking season 5 finale gave Gabriel a redemption (which it didn't)??

Wondering why Jackie didn’t feel anything when her and Hyde kissed in S3 ep 8. Hyde obviously felt something, why do you think he didn’t really act on it until later seasons? Was he just pining the whole time?

T7S writers' reason: they were going for irony. The whole time Jackie pursues Hyde romantically while he continually rebuffs her, he's the one who ends up having developed true romantic feelings while Jackie finally realizes hers weren't real but made-up as a coping mechanism (for her grief about Kelso's betrayal and the loss of her relationship with him).

In T7S Universe reason: the kiss breaks Jackie's fantasy about her imagined romantic feelings for Hyde and shoves her back into reality: her loneliness plus Hyde's compassion during a very vulnerable time created a mental-emotional delusion. Grief and pain can make a person convince themself of many false things -- out of self-preservation.

As much as I enjoy exploring the idea that Jackie was afraid of what she feels for Hyde during that kiss, and the fact they eventually do get together romantically gives support to this interpretation, that wasn't the writers' intention.

As for Hyde, since Jackie admits to feeling nothing (romantic) for him in the kiss, he believes there's no point in revealing how he truly feels toward her.

One can reasonably interpret that his romantic feelings for her remain despite him suppressing them. He acts passive-aggressively toward and annoyed by Jackie and Kelso's renewed relationship. True, he acts the same in seasons one and two, but in the context of now having romantic feelings for Jackie, his motivation seems different.

Before, he wants his partner in crime (and bud) back and obnoxious, nuisance Jackie out of the basement and his life. This time, he struggles watching the girl he likes (loves?) be with someone else and, especially, someone who hurt her so badly.

Once Jackie breaks up with Kelso in the summer between S4 and S5 (via letter), and she and Hyde find themselves hanging out with each other most of the time that summer, they've obviously grown comfortable with each other. Instead of keeping their physical distance, they sit on the basement couch together. She's barefoot, and in a promo shot for "Going to California" (5x01) he's not wearing his sunglasses during the scene that shows them on the couch together, an indication of just how comfortable with her presence he's become. In the episode itself, they used the take where he's wearing his sunglasses, but his new comfort with Jackie is still obvious in the scene.

Even though their romantic relationship begins in earnest, Hyde hasn't forgotten that Jackie used him in S2-S3 to ease or forget the pain of losing her relationship with Kelso and why she lost it. That's his interpretation of events, at least, and it left him with deep insecurity about Jackie's feelings for him. Considering that both his parents (pre-W.B.) used him then abandoned him, transferring this wound onto Jackie is understandable (albeit not right) -- especially since she did essentially same thing to him previously.
