Twitter is not the greatest place to be rn for many reasons, but I think people are missing out on some things that are basically common sense:
Taylor can promote (which, by the way, these promotions are part of the “For Your Consideration” campaigns for awards seasons, especially the awards the movie is nominated for) because he's in LA. These are not regular or fancy screenings, so it doesn't make sense to make Nick travel.
Nick's projects have close promotional periods. Like, they overlap at some point. And he's going to focus on it because it's his job. It doesn't mean he's moved on — it means his projects must also be promoted. I think people don't know or forget the strike was during the promotional period the movie premiered.
Some people are upset with Nick because he's not talking about the movie any more. And I think most of them are clinging to the super online Nick of a few years ago or even 💜 Nick who promoted. And, again, the strike got in the way. He has to be in the USA during March, so he can likely make it to screenings or the GLAAD Awards if his schedule lets him. But people need to remember that he's over there because of his other projects, not RWRB only.
I think people diminish what the boys are doing, and pit them against each other because neither is doing what they want. And forget what they've been saying about the movie, the characters, the book. They care about it deeply, and of course, they deserve to talk about it. I hope people calm down and stop being upset because things are moving forward, but that doesn't mean that RWRB is over.
I mean I pretty much agree with you here. Incredibly well analysed and well said.
And I want to highlight your final paragraph. This is the problem with parasocial relationships with any form of celebrity: delusional fans so easily start to feel like they have some say in the celebrity's actions.
About the promo, yeah, that's his job too, and I think the disparity in reaction is kind of partly because we missed our RWRB promo due to the strike, so it suddenly goes from "he's not talking about this" to "he's talking about this a lot". (I know he's most likely gonna be at the TIOY premiere but it just occurred to me that M&G is a UK-based production though?) RWRB is in a really unique and weir circumstance where we missed out on promo and press almost entirely.
And I get missing Nick being chronically online, it seemed really entertaining, but he's just growing up and entering a new phase on how he wants to manage his social media. His past six Instagram posts were all pretty formal "business" stuff. Which, people change. I've seen people call it a rebrand but really I just think it's him changing how he views social media. (personally, I did the same thing at 2022: went from chronically online and sharing everything to being relatively inactive and only posting when it's something memorial like a birthday or a festival)
I think at the end of day we should look to their direct actions: the primary source evidence, so to speak. Nick happily signs RWRB book, refers to Henry as himself, and teases Taylor playfully through book signing. It's clear he loves this project, and experiences/ love like this doesn't fade.

JASON DAY-FUJIWARA is a Japanese-English actor, visual artist, videographer, businessman, and semi-retired model. Born on January 4th, 1997, Jason began his career as a child actor and model in 2004, and his earliest jobs came in the form of Abercrombie campaigns and print advertisements for Burberry and Chloe. His acting debut didn't come until 2005, in which he had a supporting role in a British soap opera. Prior to his breakthrough, Jason became a prominent young TV actor in England, and his popularity led him to a role in the 2011 Disney film, Lemonade Mouth.
In 2014, Jason was one of two co-stars in the film Sister. The film was an international success, and it won him a Young Hollywood Award, a Saturn Award, and even his first Golden Globe. Sister saw recognition at the Academy Awards, and won the GLAAD Media Award for Best Outstanding Film. The film's success catapulted Jason into semi-stardom in the United States, and he found his way into an Emmy-nominated television film later that year. In 2016, however, he would be transformed into an established actor seemingly overnight.
Jason would secure the role of Jess (later Jax) Takeda in Stranger Things, and his character's subsequent popularity turned him into a beloved actor. As a result, he's since achieved roles in major productions such as Squid Game, The Power of the Dog, Dune, Fast X, the Knives Out trilogy, Scream, Mad Max: Furiosa, Succession, Bridgerton, and Shiai—the latter of which garnered him a Best Actor nomination at the 2024 Academy Awards.
In addition to his booming acting career, Jason also has a booming modeling career. In 2013, he signed a contract with IMG Models, and a year later, he was sent to Paris and London to make his Fashion Week debuts. In between 2014 and 2016, he was seen as a rising star within the modeling world, booking shows and campaigns for the likes of Valentino, Alexander Wang, and Louis Vuitton. Jason's career as a model came to a rather abrupt end in 2016, though, when he announced that he would be taking an indefinite hiatus from modeling. The hiatus would thankfully end six years later, when he returned to the runway for Paris Fashion Week in 2022. Now, he's an ambassador for Celine, Hermès, and Saint Laurent's "L'Homme" fragrance, and is the first male ambassador for SK-II. Additionally, Jason also happens to be the founder and CEO of Day Media Corp, a gallery and media company, mainly for photography and videography. Founding the company in 2021, it has gone on to be immensely successful.
In 2018, Jason came out as a demiboy, changing his name from Jocelyn Charlene Day to Jason Day-Fujiwara. In his post, he expressed his feelings of gender dysphoria and confusing attraction to women, which he had been feeling for over two years at that point (which was also one of the reasons he decided to step back from modeling). Three years later, he would publicly come out as a transgender man, citing his then-girlfriend for giving him the courage to do so. Since then, Jason has been a staunch activist for the LGBT community and other marginalized groups, regularly speaking at charity events and making frequent appearances at Pride.
In 2019, Jason met his future wife, Aikawa Chouka (also known as Love). Meeting during the table reading before the production of Stranger Things' third season, the two clicked instantly due to their shared Japanese heritage and similar social standing (as Jason's father—Jonathan Day—is the president of the Day Banking Group, while his mother is a wealthy heiress and cast member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills). Interestingly enough, they also attended the same Swiss private school at the same time, and their mothers were very familiar with each other. They became immensely close over the next two years, to the point where a relationship between their characters on Stranger Things was written in due to their intense chemistry, and by 2021, the internet was beginning to notice just how close they were. Everyone's suspicions were confirmed on Valentine's Day of that year, when both Jason and Chouka confirmed their relationship on Instagram. The world couldn't have been happier, and they've since gone on to become an iconic couple, even tying the knot in 2024. Their lavish Italian wedding has gone down as the "wedding of the decade."
Now, Jason has cemented himself as a beloved celebrity, becoming known as one of the best and most popular actors of the modern age. With his string of iconic roles, activism, booming business, and aesthetically pleasing Instagram feed, it doesn't look like Jason will be going away anytime soon (especially since he's married to Chouka).

thank you for what you said I really appreciate you explaining it so concise. Where do you stand on the whole Buck and Tommy thing if it's okay to ask? Because just based on what Oliver said in his latest interviews it sounds like that is going to be a very casual thing/fling which makes sense I suppose. Especially if Tommy is just a catalyst to get us to Buddie this season or at least Buddie getting confirmed as going canon.
Also can I ask why do you think Buddie is gonna go canon in your opinion, I agree with you that everything feels different and I truly think Ryan spilled the beans without actually saying it that now Oliver has to be with him at all times during interviews.
I explained why I think Buddie is going canon here, in regards to someone asking me why I thought Buck/Tommy happening meant Buddie was therefore going to happen. I explain my feelings on Buck/Tommy here.
(Please remember, Buck/Tommy is also speculation! We don't know anything for sure!)
...also you are so sweet but that answer was not concise LOL that was a whole ass novel.
I'm not writing another essay, it's eight thirty in the morning, but to quickly summarize:
re: previous posts, if either Buck or Eddie is queer, Buddie is happening (please click aforementioned links)
ABC is really towing the line on promoting Buddie without queerbaiting, a fine line to walk and a risk, but they're taking it, I presume for a very good reason
ABC has very much positioned themselves as the saviors of the show, not just literally but also giving them/us all the things they/we wanted but evil meanie FOX didn't - makes sense to me that would include Buddie (I'm sure they already have visions of GLAAD awards dancing in their heads)
they took Ryan's muzzle off - okay all jokes aside, Ryan was infamous for blurting stuff out during interviews, so the PR team has to know that letting him do interviews again (especially live video/audio that can't be ignored or deleted like a written article) will be a risk, so they have to be taking that risk for a reason
it's the only logical place the writing for these two has been headed since season three. I have four years' worth of meta on this blog about it by myself and others so feel free to dig around! Tags where you'll likely find that kind of thing are #mads answers things, #911 spec, #911 meta, #911 fox, and #buddie.
My inbox is currently flooded to please remember guys, search the tag 'mads answers things' on my blog and scroll down, you might see I've already provided you with the answers you seek in answering someone else previously!

How dare Taylor participate in a special screening of one of his films released 5 months ago, nominated for the glaad awards where he is lead actor and when he couldn't talk about it in the previous months due to strike? 🤯 Such a crazy thing for him to talk about a project of his that literally came out a short time ago and still gets so much attention

Rating: Explicit | Warnings/Tags: Carlos’ tits in THAT shirt, spanking, dirty talk, anal sex, anal fingering, use of the word “slut / slutty”, oral sex, teasing, m x m smut, m x m sex
Summary: Carlos and TK are invited to an event and he gets a new outfit that's meat to tease TK.
Author's Note: This was 100% inspired by Rafa's GLAAD award outfit because it was a 1000/10 fit. Thank you to the TWP discord, @mooshkat, @cowlos-reyes, @thebumblecee, and @paperstorm for listening to me complain about how my smutty fic decided to go off and have plot included in it and for dealing with the stupid amount of sneak peaks I sent. And thank you to the anon who sent me an ask about how Rafa's outfit made them think of me and my slutty Carlos series! I loved getting that! This fic was really fun to write! I hope you all enjoy it!
Thank you to @lightningboltreader for foregoing work to beta this. Hope it was worth it lmao
Part of the "We can get a little crazy just for fun" universe
----
When Carlos and TK receive the invitation to the Austin LGBT+ Gala, Carlos decides that it’s the perfect excuse to buy a new outfit - without TK knowing. He’s always looking for ways to tease his husband and wearing clothes that he knows TK will deem “slutty” is a great way to do that.
He makes sure to hide his outfit in the back of the closet so that TK has no chance of seeing it and only gets it out on the night of the gala. Carlos waits for TK to get ready, shooing him out of the bedroom and telling him that he wants him to be surprised when he sees the outfit for the first time.
Carlos pulls on a pair of black boxers before pulling on his new pants. They’re black, simple and high-waisted. Classy enough for a night on the town but tight enough to get his husband's mouth watering. Next, he pulls out the shirt, really it’s the main piece of the entire outfit because he knows that TK’s going to have words about it.
He pulls it over his head and tucks it into his pants before looking in the mirror. The shirt is long sleeve and made of black velvet, but what Carlos likes most about it is the deep v-cut that it has. The v-cut allows for his pecs to be highlighted, showing off just enough that it could still be a little classy, but it mostly leans on the slutty, “look at me” side that he knows will get TK all riled up.
Carlos slips into their bathroom and takes his time styling his hair, taming his curls to lay tastefully against his head. He spritzes on the cologne that he knows makes TK crazy every time he uses it and takes a step back to look at himself in the mirror. He looks good and his pecs look delicious in the shirt. He knows that he’s made the right decision in buying it - it’ll get him exactly what he wants.
“Babe! Come on, we need to leave soon,” TK calls from the next room.
Carlos takes one more look before he gives himself a nod, deciding that everything is just how he wants it to be.
With a smirk on his lips, Carlos makes his way out to the living room where TK is looking at himself in the mirror, fixing his hair again. When it takes a few moments for TK to notice him, Carlos clears his throat.
Carlos bites his lip and keeps his eyes trained intently on TK as he watches him turn around. He enjoys the way TK drags his eyes down his body and up again, and how they darken when they notice the outfit that he’s dressed in. TK closes the distance between them quickly, hand reaching out to run down the center of Carlos’ chest. Carlos lets out a needy little sound, licking his lips as he leans into the touch.
“Is this a new shirt?” TK asks, his voice rough and controlled in a way that Carlos is very familiar with.

Hey, got any tips/starting points for people who want to get into the DC comics with Maggie? Happy pride btw!
Hello Anon! Happy Pride to you as well! This is the first time anyone has asked me about comics, so I'm very excited to answer this!
So bear with me because this is a long answer, and I'm going to start by saying that the Maggie in the comics and the Maggie in the Supergirl TV Show are different characters. And while they have similar characteristics and values, they also have a lot of differences. So if you are looking for comics that deal with the familiar Maggie from the TV series, you will be disappointed because there are none. (But there is a lot of fanfiction of the TV Show Maggie, which helps with that disappointment, I've found. *wink*)
But if you can put aside the TV show version and want to understand where the character of Maggie Sawyer comes from, then there are several places that you can start.
The first one is at the very beginning. Which is Superman Vol 2 #4 (1987), where Maggie was first introduced. She was a frequent reoccurring character in the Superman series and was his primary police contact for a while. Her back story is explained chiefly during her Superman run, including her coming out story.
Maggie also became the main character in a four-issue series called Metropolis SCU, which won a GLAAD award in 1997. And then she was the main character in another four-part series called: MAGGIE SAWYER, SPECIAL CRIMES UNIT. This series was the first time a major comic book publisher (DC Comics) had a heroine that was an out lesbian. (A fact I didn't know until I was researching this answer... I thought Kate Kane or Renee Montoya held that title, oops.)
Then, in the mid-2000s, Maggie was transferred to Gotham and became a significant character in the Gotham Central series, along with Renee Montoya. And she is featured in a few other significant Batman storylines, such as Batman: No Man's Land, Infinite Crisis, and 52.
This brings me to option two; you can skip everything I mentioned before and start with Detective Comics #856 (part of the Batwoman Origin Comic Elegy), where Maggie meets Kate Kane. Maggie then becomes a significant part of 2011 The New 52 Batwoman Series. This is where I first met the character and fell in love with her. There is enough of her backstory here explaining that I felt safe understanding who she was. I enjoyed her story with Kate, even if the ending of that particular run is a bit controversial (but that's a topic for another day.)
The last option I give you is to start with DC's Bombshells, a four-volume series, and Bombshells United, a 3 volume series, which is an alternate reality where female superheroes guard the homefront during WWII. Not only is Maggie a character, but all of your favorite DC female characters are there, and this comic is very queer and features a host of Sapphic love between various heroes. (I highly recommend this series in general, because it's so good. )
In conclusion, I sincerely hope that this list helps you find a starting point that helps you dive deeper into the character of Maggie Sawyer. Feel free to message me back and let me know what you think! Happy Reading! :)
Also, here are a few articles(which do contain spoilers) that I used as references in writing this list: https://www.dc.com/blog/2022/06/24/sapphic-planet-the-many-loves-of-d-cs-bombshells

Nick isn't going to the GLAAD media awards which rwrb is nominated at but Taylor is going, which doesn't surprise me at all but it disappoints me. As far as we know anyway, I might end up eating my words. Nick didn't even post about the voting which would have taken a few seconds on an IG story. People argue about him wanting to move on from older projects since he has new projects to promote but that doesn't stop him from talking about Bottoms all the time. Also that recent interview where he did the memory box and he mentioned Cinderella, PH, M&G, TIOY but no rwrb. A fan asked Heart why there was no rwrb mention and they said they couldn't get rwrb out of him, and they linked to an older vid. That suggests Nick or his team didn't want him to talk about rwrb. Maybe there is going to be a sequel announcement soon but the memory box was just saying a line or 2 about his old movies. What's the harm? If it is because of the sequel announcement then surely going to the GLAAD awards would hype it up? It doesn't make sense. I don't believe in some people's takes about Nick because I think he is closeted but some rwrb fans think that he used queer movie roles to set himself apart from other actors and to get name recognition and now he only wants to work with Oscar nominees or awarded actors. Of course M&G is queer but it's very 'artsy' whereas rwrb is just a gay love story and it did so much for queer representation. One of the few decent gay romcoms with a great message. M&G is more about abusing power. Nick did a recent rwrb interview but it's part of his Emmy campaign as he's predicted to get an actor nomination. I don't think the rwrb fans are upset that he's a 'straight' man playing a gay man, it's more to do with him trying to distance himself from it and ignoring significant lgbtq+ awards like GLAAD, there are others too. Like he's doing nothing for the lgbtq+ community, not even as an ally but he's taking lgbtq+ roles. That's why. His lack of allyship but getting praised for lgbtq+ roles. People are deeming him a queer icon and for what?
Hi, anon!
I think we shouldn't be expecting too much of a closeted queer man. He's doing way more than other closeted actors already for the queer community. I have never seen anyone speak so eloquently about the lgbtqai+ community and as reverently as he does. I haven't seen anyone seemingly straight disscussing queer issues and showing so much understanding as he does. We have never had so much queer cinema and attention on queer storylines as now. Nick is a huge contributor to that fact, even if he isn't giving the queer community representation. There is still only a handful of out queer actors who does. So he's already done a lot for a closeted queer actor.
Nick is still closeted and it seems to me like he wants to continue to be in order to make it big. We may not like it, but it's his decision to make. It's also his closet. He's said he'll continue to do queer roles. He is Bambi and he is everyone's babygirl. He's acknowledging it and embracing it. But he is still closeted. I've talked about how closeted celebrities need to balance the queer presenting and projecting, and the straight presenting and projecting. Nick also has to do that as a closeted man. Nick isn't in a glass closet, like TZP is. Nick is also currently promoting a very het movie. He's supposed to be selling his chemistry with Anne to the audience. We're supposed to think he's straight.
I have talked about Nick at the GLAAD awards before and explained what i think is happening. I don't think Nick is downplaying RWRB, but it's so dominating, and i think he wants attention on his other projects too. But he also needs to balance the straight and the queer. As long as he's closeted he can't be everything the queer community needs him to be. He's doing what he can and what he's comfortable with, within the boundaries of his closet. It is what it is.

I understand that Nick is now working on something else and promoting something else and it's absolutely normal that he can't talk during his promo and focus only on a film that he has made, I absolutely did not share the drama of these days however I also don't understand the whole "he doesn't owe us anything, he's busy" for the possibility that he doesn't post it of the vote like others.
Yes, ok I understand everything but it always seems like everyone has this idea of Nick too far gone now and couldn't even take a second to post a single story for the nomination for a movie that HE MADE and I'm not even saying I want to see him do it or that he has to do it at any cost, he probably won't but it's weird to see how with Taylor they are all "oh look he loves the film so much he, like us, can't let it go" but for Nick even if people just "hopes" to see only a story they are like "stop, he doesn't owe us anything he has other things to think now"
>For context, this ask has been sent after Taylor shared stories about the vote for the glaad awards but before the The Awardist Podcast.>
I’m so sorry I’ve been a bit slow to answer to that. By the time I had time to answer, the podcast happened and I wanted to stay in that mood for a bit, then I have been so very tired and now that I’m a bit rested, I’ve been trying to find a way to answer to you.
I’m not exactly sure what you’re saying exactly actually. It’s not a criticism, I just don’t know where to start my answer.
As for the specific exemple of the vote for the glaad awards (vote!!!), I’m sure everybody has noticed by now that Bottoms is also nominated so it’s difficult for Nick to say anything about either. Even asking to vote for both is counter-productive as it will be only one winner so not to say anything looks like the best solution for me.
Like you, I think the idea of Nick being "too far gone" for RWRB is absolutely ridiculous.
And even if Taylor not letting go of the movie is more positively oriented, he’s doing almost nothing out of the ordinary. Walking the award circuit as a lead of a movie with a chance to get nomination is very normal (whining bc you can’t sign books while being drunk is less common, but that just makes him even more special 💜).
I’m still not sure where I’m going with this answer but I’m going to keep writing until I feel like it’s coherent enough.
It’s tricky to react to what you say without context or knowing the people who are saying these things. The Internet these days is a lot about overreacting and what could have been a meaningless joke or thought at start can become heavy with repetition and numbers. Like reading "he can’t let go of the movie" is cute the first time but maybe feels a bit more like he's being desperate the hundredth time. "He has other things to do" sounds normal the first time but maybe too close to "he doesn’t care" the hundredth. But the reality hasn’t changed in the meantime, they both still have very normal behavior doing what they’re doing as actor. What I’m trying to say is that it’s fandom stuff happening inside the fandom and to fans mostly and it's mostly about perception. (Am I making any sense? (no))
I also feel like a part of that can be related to expectations (and too many of them) inside a fandom and fans wanting to preserve of protect their actor from it. Expectations, whether they’re expressed on a corner on the Internet or directly to famous people in DMs, often creates frustration and disappointment on the long run. For example, I don’t share most of the asks only waiting or asking for news on Taylor’s next project anymore. There’s nothing wrong with them and I get they come from a place of support but I feel like it would start to sound weird at some point. We’ll know when we’ll know and he’ll tell the story if he feels like it.
I had the same feeling with an ask that were mentioning a semi-hope for Taylor to share something on Alex’s birthday. I thought it was unlikely but I didn’t want to piss on someone’s else fun. But I didn’t want to entertain something I didn’t believe in either (firstly, because I hate lies but mostly because) I didn’t want to create or nourish an expectation that would most likely end up in frustration or disappointment for people reading. So I ended up not posting it at all.
All of that to say that sometimes maybe the "he doesn’t owe us anything" comes from a similar place than that, only in a harsher way to say it.
None of this is actually coherent but if I’m not posting now I’m going to end up deleting everything so let’s not do that. If I’ve completely missed the point of your original message, please say so? I don’t know 😅

Our Friends at Tv Insider wrote a very awesome quote regarding the cancellation of OFMD while talking about Rhys Darby and his appearance in the new Night Court series.
"Night Court marks Darby’s first TV appearance since Our Flag Means Death ended in October 2023 and was criminally canceled in January. While we’re still grieving that loss, it’s great to see Darby in another romantic and comedic role so soon." https://www.tvinsider.com/1126692/night-court-rhys-darby-dave-foley-duke/

Hey lovelies. I hope you had a reasonably good day. I was a bit out of sorts and if I was weird to anyone I'm really sorry, wasn't anything directed at you. Reminded me very much how we need to be able to forgive ourselves, and even though we can preach one way, actually doing it can be really difficult sometimes, especially in the moment. I'm pretty worn out tonight, so I'll leave you with @thelatestkate's wise words, please always keep on keepin' on. The world wouldn't be the same without you. Love you crew.

“The Owl House” Showcases Diverse Stories and LGBTQ Representation
Tumblr media
Luz hugs King
What if a girl stumbled into another world filled with witches, wizards, and magic? The Owl House answers that question, as Luz explores a new world with new friends, enemies, and learns more about herself along the way.
Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog (it will be published on there on Jan. 1) and Wayback Machine. This was the forty-fourth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on July 8, 2022.
The Owl House is an animated fantasy series by Dana Terrace, a bisexual animator and writer. She is known for storyboarding episodes of Gravity Falls and the recent reboot of DuckTales.
As a warning, this recommendation discusses spoilers for episodes of The Owl House.
Tumblr media
King, Eda, Luz, and Mr. Tibbles
The Owl House centers around Luz Noceda (voiced by Sarah-Nicole Robles), a Dominican-American teenage girl who enters an alternate world. She arrives in a set of islands known as Boiling Isles. Luz soon befriends an older witch named Eda Clawthorne (voiced by Wendie Malick), also known as The Owl Lady.
She also meets a small demon named King (voiced by Alex Hirsch), and a witty door knocker of the Owl House, Hooty (voiced by Hirsch). Although Luz doesn't have innate magical abilities, she serves as a witches' apprentice to Eda, and lives at the Owl House.
To hone her magical skills, Luz goes to Hexside Academy, where each student has a magical track. She meets other classmates like Willow Park (voiced by Tati Gabrielle) and Gus Parker (voiced by Issac Ryan Brown). Willow and Gus are skilled in plant and illusion magic.
Luz becomes fast friends with them. As someone obsessed with human culture, Gus tries to learn what he can from her. Over the course of the first season, Luz slowly improves her relationship with the school's top student, Amity Blight (voiced by Mae Whitman).
The series features characters such as the school's principal, Hieronymus Bump (voiced by Bumper Robinson) and Eda's sister, Lilith Clawthorne (voiced by Cissy Jones). There's also the ruler of the Boiling Isles and series villain, Emperor Belos, a witch student named Boscha (voiced by Eden Reigel), and Amity's siblings Emira "Em" and Edric "Ed" Blight (voiced by Erica Lindbeck and Ryan O'Flanagan). Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin, Fred Tatasciore, Eric Bauza, Kari Wahlgren, Jorge Diaz, and Kimberly Brooks voice other characters.
The Owl House begins differently than any other series I've watched. Even though Futurama and Samurai Jack feature time travel. And Final Space, Elliot from Earth, Otherside Picnic, and Helluva Boss have dimensional travel. None of them are like this series. Although The Owl House has some similarities with Steven Universe and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, it is unique in and of itself.
Even so, there are season two episodes focusing on time travel and its implications. Viewers learn a frightening truth about Belos (voiced by Matthew Rhys). This scares his loyal servant, Hunter (voiced by Zeno Robinson) out of his mind. It makes Luz worried about her safety.
The series has received nominations for youth and family programming, character design, and voice-over work awards since its premiere. Most recently, it received a GLAAD Media Award award for Outstanding Kids and Family Programming, competing with Amphibia and other live-action productions. The Owl House previously received a nomination for the same award last year.
youtube
The Owl House has some cast diversity. Robles, who voices one of the series protagonists, is Afro-Latine. Elizabeth Grullon, who voiced Luz's mother, Camila, is of Dominican descent. She described her character's relationship with Luz as a "refreshing representation" of a real Latine family. Robinson, Brown, and Brooks are Black actors. Gabrielle is Afro-Korean. Luz is significant as an animated character because 12% of Latine people, and 2% of the U.S. adult population, identify as Afro-Latine.
In 2021, series creator Dana Terrace confirmed that Luz is neurodivergent. Previously, some fans argued that she was ADHD-coded because of her hyperfixations and actions. The latter is still a possibility since she is neurodivergent.
T.J. Hill composed the first season's music. Brad Breek composed the second season's music. Hill also composed the theme music. It is fitting for this young adult fantasy series. The music often helps set the mood, connecting with the show's story. On Twitter, Hill noted that the show's score had "interesting and experimental sounds" which he enjoyed putting together. He also composed music for Amphibia.
The animation style of The Owl House is amazing. Terrace has said that Russian architecture and paintings of John Bauer, Remedios Varo, and Hieronymus Bosch inspired her. To make sure the show is visually effective, there were over 100 people as part of the crew, and 50 people on the pre-production crew alone, by December 2019.
Spencer Wan supervised the show's crew in the first season. Kofi Fiagome did the same in the second season. Ricky Cometa worked as the series art director. Demons in the show are not scary but represent actual people. Comeda noted that they designed Luz as a "nod to all...fellow nerds out there". Furthermore, the Boiling Isles has a purple ocean to distinguish it from Earth.
Tumblr media
Luz realizes she is in the Boiling Isles
The Owl House, unlike some other series, has deep lore which pulls you into the series. This includes worldbuilding, like when Luz, Hooty, and King travel to Titan Trapper Island hoping to learn about King's past. What they find is something they don't expect, while King discovers his new powers and who he really is.
There are compelling stories, like those focused on the family backstories of Edith and Luz. Terrace has said that while much of the series lore is made up, the Pokemon franchise strongly influenced her. The show's main characters were even inspired by people in Terrace's life, with Luz even named after Terrace's roommate, Luz Batiste, who is a story artist on the show and is also Dominican-American.
The series, based on Terrace's childhood experiences, has the twin themes of conformity and uniqueness. This interconnects with the horror elements of the series, which Disney executives were concerned about. The heartfelt and comedic elements balance out the more scary ones.
Even so, Terrace compromised between her ideas and the wishes of Disney executives. This resulted in the show's intended "darker tone" being minimized in the show's first season. In the second season, the intended tone came to the fore and The Owl House truly became a young adult animation on par with Dead End: Paranormal Park and The Legend of Korra.
Critics from Common Sense Media, Collider, The Mary Sue, The A.V. Club, CBR, and TheGamer acclaimed the series during its first 19-episode season run. It received a second season renewal prior to the first season debut. However, while the series was renewed for a third and final season, only three 44-minute special episodes will air (despite the positive reception). It is shorter than the 10-20 episodes the production team had anticipated.
In a Reddit AMA, Terrace wrote that The Owl House got cut short because Disney executives claimed the show did not fit into the "Disney brand." She surmised that the show's serialized nature and older audience than other Disney productions, rather than the show's LGBTQ representation, was the reason. Terrace further revealed that the executives did not allow her to argue for a fourth season. She believed the show could have a future if different executives were in charge.
The Owl House is not dead and gone. Terrace has said she would like to continue it in the future either through a limited series or comics. She encouraged fans to ask Disney for more content connected to the show. There was a series of shorts released on the official Disney Channel YouTube Channel entitled "Look Hooo's Talking" and comedic shorts entitled "Owl Pellets" released throughout 2020.
Tumblr media
Amity and Luz both blush after they agree to be girlfriends with one another.
One of the most important aspects of the show is its LGBTQ+ representation. This is most outwardly manifested by Luz, who is bisexual. She is the first bisexual protagonist in a Disney series, although not the first bisexual character. Some read Li Shong (voiced by BD Wong) in Mulan and Nerissa in W.I.T.C.H. as bisexual. Jackie Lynn Thomas in Star Vs. The Forces of Evil is bisexual, as are Jess and Sasha Waybright in Amphibia.
A major subplot in the series is the feelings Luz, and her original rival-of-sorts, Amity, have for one another. This begins with Amity blushing and acting bashful toward Luz. This culminates with both dancing together to defeat a monster in "Enchanting Grom Fright".
Luz remains oblivious to the fact that Amity has a crush on her. She finally realizes this when Amity kisses Luz on the cheek in a Season 2 episode after going through dangerous trials to get her library job back.
Luz and Amity finally become a couple in the episode "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door". Later episodes focused on the ups and downs of their relationship. They learn to not keep secrets from one another, even if those secrets are painful, and help each other as girlfriends.
This overjoyed fans who ship both characters as "Lumity", along with queer fans and other supporters of expanded representation. There are over 19,000 followers on the Lumity subreddit alone, as of writing this piece. In the episode titled 'Clouds on the Horizon', both characters shared a romantic kiss together.
youtube
This open presentation of a queer romance contrasts with Adventure Time, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Gravity Falls, and The Legend of Korra. In those series, the romantic feelings between characters were not canonized until the last episode.
While those series have their merits, having a relationship between two characters in the show proper, rather than at the end, is more impressive. Doing the latter cheapens the representation, in my opinion. Hopefully future series and films will avoid almost blink-and-you-miss-it moments, like the one in The Mitchells vs. the Machines (related to the protagonist's girlfriend).
Beyond Luz and Amity, there's Luz's guardian, Eda. She is revealed to be queer. She had a previous relationship with Raine Whispers (voiced by Avi Roque), leader of a coven fighting against the malevolent emperor, Belos. Raine has the distinction of being non-binary and transmasculine. They are, perhaps, the first Disney character to be non-binary.
The Collector, a being who collaborates with Belos on opening a portal to the human realm, was recently hinted at as being non-binary by the show's creator. Raine is the leader of anti-Belos group named Covens Against the Throne (CATS) which Eda, King, and Luz later join.
There's also Eda's older sister, Lilith. She may be aromantic and asexual, again breaking barriers. Also, like Bow's two dads, George and Lance, in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Willow has two fathers, Gilbert and Harvey.
These aspects make some reactionary individuals, whether in halls of Congress or elsewhere in society, sneer. They declare that the series is "corrupting" their children or some other nonsense about how such media is "turning" kids queer.
Tumblr media
Luz worried about Hunter and being utterly terrified after coming out of the mind of Emperor Belos
Putting aside the ramblings of reactionary people, it is easy to see why The Owl House is popular. It has diverse stories, focuses on friendship, and has the classic conflict between good and evil. It skews to an older, young adult crowd. This is clear through a changed tone from the show's first season to the second. It becomes dark at times, making it evident why Disney wants the series to end.
The finale of Season 2 has the Collector and Belos work on a portal to the human realm, and on the Day of Unity, with a plan to wipe out wild magic forever. The draining spell succeeds. In the midst of it, Luz is saved by her friends and King talks to the Collector.
The episode ends with Luz, Amity, Hunter, Gus, and Willow fleeing through the portal door to the human realm, while King stays behind. This is more horrifying than when Anne and her frog family traveled to Earth in Amphibia.
There is no knowing what happened to the Boiling Isles or King. While they all go to Luz's family home at the episode's end, their fate or whether they can return to the other world remains unknown. This will undoubtedly be the subject of the third and final season.
The series emphasizes the importance of one's chosen family and exploring your identity. It brings trauma to the forefront, as Steven Universe Future did with a focus on Steven's trauma. The Owl House has the potential to inspire others to follow in its footsteps.
It is not known how this young adult animation will influence any future indie animations, webcomics, mainstream series, or other media. Some crew members may move forward and create their own series. After all, the former Steven Universe crew had a part in OK K.O.: Let's Be Heroes, Summer Camp Island, Craig of the Creek, RWBY, Adventure Time: Distant Lands, and Amphibia, some of which are YA animations and have queer content.
I highly recommend The Owl House. After watching the recent episodes, I came to realize why I love the series all over again.
The series is currently airing on the Disney Channel, streaming on Disney+, and is also available on Amazon Prime, and other platforms.

Is it the first film on Islam & Homosexuality?
''A Jihad for Love'' is called world's 1st film on Islam & Homosexuality.A Jihad for Love would be an international feature documentary film rather than world's first film on LGBT muslims. However there are several films that focused on LGBTQ muslim or Queerness in Islam. For Example:
Road to Love (2001)
Act of Faith (2002)
Haremde dört kadin (1965)
Hammam al-Malatily (1973)
Köçek (1975)
Ihtiras Firtinasi (1984)

Lola & Billy the Kid (1999)
Production
Bismillah (In the name of Allah) was considered as an early working title for this documentary.Among muslims, the word Bismillah is very auspicious & used before beginning actions, speech, writing. But the tittle was not considered as the final title of this film due to controversy.
A Jihad for Love is produced by Halal Films, in association with the Sundance Documentary Film Fund,Channel 4 (UK),ZDF (Germany),Arte (France-Germany),Logo (US) & SBS Australia. The director & producer Parvez Sharma & co-producer Sandi Dubowski raised more than a million dollars over a 6 years period to make the film.
In an interview with The NY Times,Parvez Sharma said that he "would shoot touristy footage on the first 15 minutes & the last 15 minutes of a tape", with interviews for documentary in between, to avoid having his footage seized at customs. He compiled 400 hours of footage from a dozen countries ranging from Iraq to Pakistan to the UK.The nature of the work placed him at considerable personal risk.He adopted hardcore guerrilla film-making tactics, pretending to be a tourist in one country,a worker for an AIDS charity in another country.Wherever he went,he asked his queer friends to keep copies of footage and destroy the tapes once he had successfully smuggled the masters out of the country.
During his filmmaking Parvez traveled several countries including Pakistan, Iraq, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, USA, UK, Turkey, France, Saudi Arabia, South Africa,[...].
Interviews
In an interview with NY Times magazine,Parvez Sharma said,"Being gay and Muslim myself,I knew that this film had to be about us all coming out— as Muslims. It's about claiming the Islam that has been denied to us." With a target audience of "faithful Muslims," he undertook a variety of outreach tactics, including leafleting mosques, blanketing MySpace, screening in Astoria for 15 key progressive Muslim leaders. In an interview to Der Spiegel, Sharma explained the significance of the title: "I'm not looking at jihad as battle.I'm looking at the greater jihad in Islam, which is the jihad as the struggle with the self.I also thought it was really compelling to take a word that only has one connotation for most -- to take that, reclaim it and put it in the same phrase as love, which is universal.I really think it explains it very well.
Film Screening
A Jihad for Love first premiered in Toronto International Film Festival(TIFF) in September 2007.At its premier, the director was given a security guard for safety reasons. After this film festival A Jihad for Love got huge applaud internationally.A Jihad for Love film premiered as the opening film of Panorama Documente of the Berlin Film Festival in February 2008.
The film was screened in The Rio Film Festival,Brazil on September 2007,Morelia Film Festival,Mexico, on October 2007,The Sheffield DocFest on November 2007,London Gay & Lesbian Film Festival on March 2008,Melbourne International Film Festival on July 2008,Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival on March 2008,etc.A Jihad for Love's first premier in African continent was The Out in Africa Film Festival in Johannesburg and Cape Town,November 2007. On April,2008 A Jihad for Love film was successfully screened at Istanbul International Film Festival. It was the first time that the film allowed to screen in a muslim-majority country.Film also screened in Q! Film Festival of Indonesia.Although singapore banned the film from festival in 2008 due to its sensitive subject.
Popularity
A Jihad for Love film's sale and broadcast on NDTV, South Asia's largest network in 2008 would have a "remarkable" impact on this LGBTQ cause. "NDTV's broadcast has in effect made the film available to over one billion viewers in India,Bangladesh,Pakistan, & large portions of the Middle East and Africa. The various distributors and their Total Rating Points in European television, the Indian/South-Asian sale with its claimed footprint of 15 billion viewers, the theatrical release & the purportedly large numbers of Netflix viewers made the filmmakers and the TRP experts arrive at a number of 8 million total viewers calculated over a period of four years for this documentary.
International Muslim Dialogue Project
Immediately after the film's theatrical launch around the USA,Parvez & Sandi launched the International Muslim Dialogue Project on 2008.The aim of the project was to organize screenings of the film in Muslim Capitals.Sharma called it the "Underground Network Model" of film distribution. He invented this model sending unmarked DVD's of the film with friends & colleagues to Muslim capitals across the world with full permission to sell pirated copies. Some of the boldest were Beirut,Cairo,Karachi, eight cities in Indonesia & Kuala Lumpur
The film was screened privately screened in Iran,Palestine,Bangladesh and Somalia.

Here is part 2 of the podcast reap with Josh Sussman.
Jenna asked Josh if he has a favorite memory from the show. Josh said being able to go to the Golden Globes with the cast. He said season 1 was a very special time going from obscurity of not knowing to going to the SAG awards. He had fun during Toxic. The aftermath sucks but filming it was fun. He mentioned going to an event for GLAAD after the episode. He saw Ryan at the event and Ryan said hello controversy and you should have seen what I cut out. Josh liked doing interviews and doing scenes with Rachel.
Josh starts talking about a prank that some of the cast pulled on him. Someone left a sticky note on his trailer that said I really looking forward to our scene and had al lip stick kiss on it and it was signed from Lea. It never occurred to him that it was not from Lea. Jenna was losing it as Josh told the story. Jenna said she is trying to remember who did it. Kevin said he knew who left the kiss on the note. Josh said it was Amber. He found this out years later. He doesn't remember where he heard it. He said he was just thinking oh, he didn't know if Lea liked him or had a crush on him or was just being friendly. He then went up to Lea and said he got her note. She has no idea what they are talking about and is waiting for a punchline. The last time they worked together he told her a joke so she thinks this is another one of his corny puns. So he pulled the note out of his pocket and handed it to her. She looks at it and reads it. She doesn't say anything and walked away. He then realized it was a prank. Was the prank was on Josh or was it on Lea. Kevin and Jenna said it was a two for one. Kevin said he thinks Amber left the kiss mark but didn't write the letter. (If Amber was a part of it then Chris was probably in on it.) They said they would do some digging and find out for Josh. Jenna said it's really nice to reminisce like this. Josh said he loves that it is on Disney+ and so accessible.
Jenna asked the question they ask everyone at the end of the interviews. What feeling does Glee leave you with? Josh said it has changed and it's an evolving thing. It goes from so much happiness but there was a time when he felt a lot of sadness. He pulled up a picture on his phone that he feels like summed up his Glee experience so well. It's a pic from the Golden Globes. He's at the coolest party in the world but he is very much on the outside. He was so happy to be there. There was elements of not feeling included but as the years went by he has come to the understanding that it's not personal. The main cast was together everyday doing rehears singing and dancing. They were a part of a close knit thing. It's not so much that he's not included it's just an extra special thing for you guys. At the time it could feel actual high school with cliques. He didn't feel like he fit in. People say things still and it gets to him but overall he still gets to have amazing experiences like the convention in Liverpool last year. In season 4 episode 2 he gets beaten up with a wooden umbrella. As he is getting beaten up Brittany say leave me alone JBI. Sometimes if he posts people will comment leave me alone JBI. He thinks okay maybe they were just quoting a line but other times he feels like they hate him. They will comment on something that doesn't have to do with anything. That was his least favorite scene because he did get hurt. He was bruised and bled. People will also comment oh I love when he got beat up. He said they know it gets under his skin. He had no idea if he would be on the podcast and it feels so meaningful to be included. It makes him so happy and it raises good feelings. He is beyond grateful to be doing the podcast with Kevin and Jenna. Kevin said they appreciate him being there. He said he wishes looking back if they could have done more to make him and Max feel more included. He thinks its important for Josh to share his experience. Josh said everyone on the show as very nice. Kevin joked that he can say Jenna is mean. Jenna joked that she is a bitch. She then said all joking aside part of the podcast is that they hope it can be healing for people like it is healing for them in many ways. She echoed what Kevin adding she wished they could have been a place where they could have done more but they weren't there not make excuses for any of it. She said she thinks that even within their circle they felt like their were cliques and that they were left out of things. There were people on the covers of things or were included in things that others were not. She said it's hard to not take that personal. It's hard to not think I'm not enough, doing enough, I'm not the main one. It definitely gets to especially when you are around it all the time and when it's what you live and breathe. It's just inevitable. She said in a way they were trauma bonded. Kevin said you latch on to those people that can understand this very specific and weird experience. Josh said he remembered during the 10th anniversary pictures were posted and he was in two of them and not tagged in them. It made him feel invisible. He knows social media is so silly. He feels like one of the group but sometimes he doesn't and wonders why not. It said its so silly if you are paying attention to who follows who. Jenna said it's inevitable in our day and age. That's your feeling and your honest and real and yours. That's what makes them true. She said she hopes he feels included and that Glee couldn't have happened without all of us and you. She said she hopes they can lift him up and give you those better memories and good feelings. She said she has plenty of shitty feelings about the show but she has many more good that it outweighs those feelings. Josh said during quarantine he rewatched Glee. He was reminded that the show is really good. Josh said he prides himself on being a positive person and felt like he wasn't being very positive. He said one of the biggest sadness's for him was the 2009 episode. Everyone was back but him. He said he didn't know why he wasn't asked back. Maybe the character was too creepy.  Kevin said how do you not take that personal. Jenna said it's hurtful. Overall it was an amazing experience.  Jenna said it is fun to rewatch as a viewer versus a cast member and being able to appreciate the performances that everybody gave that they get to see or experience when they were on set. She said Josh is one of those. To watch the satire and acknowledge the satire it is and watch Josh in his element. Kevin said he really went for it and to watch an actor be put in positions like having to be naked across from Jane Lynch is not an easy think to do and regardless of what the assholes online say to you, you smashed it and did an incredible job. That's all you can control. That's all you can do. do the best at your job and he did that over and over again.
Josh wanted to get it out there that the butt sweat is not his butt sweat. It was special effects. Kevin said people need to know that none of them are their characters. They look like their characters but none of them are these actual characters. They are hired to play characters. There are props and teams to take care of things like fake butt sweat. So leave him alone. Jenna thanked him for being honest and sharing his experiences. She said she hopes she runs into him again at their favorite place. Kevin said being in Liverpool last year with Josh was a great and special experience. If any of those people are listening they were the nicest bunch of people they could have spent time with that weekend. Josh said it was the highlight of his 2022. Jenna said she was jealous and Kevin said you were having a baby. She then got sidetracked and mentioned their was a ladybug. It's good luck. They thanked Josh again.
Jenna said she hopes that you guys appreciated his honesty as much as they did. It makes her almost sad to think that he felt like he was on the outside but grateful he was able to share his peace and his experience. Kevin said when you get on a show that will be watched by people it is a double edged sword. It is great to be a part of something being enjoyed by millions of people around the world but you will also run into a small portion of people who are terrible and say crazy crazy things to you online. That is never okay. Josh is one of the sweetest and talented people. Just remember that the people you are watching on screen are real humans with real feelings and just because they are playing a character you might not like doesn't mean that it cannot feel personal when you attack them. They thanked him again and sent big love to him.

HOLEY MOLEY!!!! Thank you so much for answering!!! TRANS CHARLIE TRANS CHARLIE!! I love your ideas so much! But no i was wondering you talked about clair and Hurley but how would everyone else react? And by everyone else i meal like Jack and Sayid and locke etc
you're welcome! heavens, i haven't really thought about it because in my mind only a few people find out. lemme think
ya know, in my heart i know better because 2004 but i just can't bring myself to imagine my beloved lost characters as transphobic, at least not maliciously. more like confusion and variations of "i didn't expect that". so theres gonna be a lot of variations on a theme here
so lets begin our parade of this version of charlie who wants to come out to everybody..... i didn't do everybody, i gave up after a bit (to be fair theres like 30 main characters, i’m tired and they’re all basically being awkward hjfkjh)
jack's lived a cookie cutter cisheteronormative life so while he's heard of trans people, he's assuming that means like, ppl who do drag. but he understands quickly. and jack has an urge to be helpful so he tries to offer medical advice and do the whole "if you need anything" thing, as if he has anything specific to offer? he's trying (charlie: not unless you have some testosterone hidden away in your backpack there / jack: [glum] sorry)
i can see locke tilting his head and nodding. locke feels this burst of empathy and and says something like "ya know, charlie, i won't pretend to understand what you've been thru, who you are, but i know you've seen hardship. a lot of pain. anger. but you've become more than that. so for what it's worth, i'm proud of you" charlie has conflicting emotions, cuz he wasn't expecting that. locke continues "and don't let anybody tell you what you can and can't do. or be" kind eyes, kind smile, moving lost background music, lost wins a glaad award
sayid raises his eyebrows like "oh?", nods and says "that's good". the concept doesn't phase him as much as the others (look i tried to think of something unique but its hard)
sawyer laughs because he doesn't believe charlie. then charlie looks totally serious. sawyer looks charlie up and down, puffs air out his nose and says something like "huh! takes all sorts". he may or may not make some tasteless jokes/comments. charlie would respond with quips about sawyer being a backward redneck. because they are both bitches
with kate, okay the next phrase is said in like, an impressed tone: "wow, i never would have been able to tell" "thanks, i guess". it's not the best response but at least it's not negative. claire had a similar response, like looking at charlie like "oh wow" because. yeah, dude passes for cis pretty damn well
sun doesn't know what kind of reponse charlie is looking for so she says "that's good!" and then an awkward pause before she starts talking about certain foods that will naturally raise testosterone. she read about that sort of thing when she and jin were having trouble conceiving so that works out. charlie thinks this is sweet. and also starts eating more garlic and spinach
sun translates for jin and looks at charlie with furrowed brow puzzlement and then he asks sun for clarification, thinking it's a mistranslation. when its clear it's not, jin says "good". charlie feels awkward
hey you know that bit where sun tells daniel she's pregnant and daniel is polite but clearly doesn't know what to do with himself in this situation? like that but with charlie. awkward polite fumbling. and he's like the only one who uses the term used at the time "oh, you're transsexual? that's, that's interesting, yeah. i'd heard rumours but i never really. thought about it? i suppose it makes sense because some of your lyrics [goes on a mini rant about the hidden meanings in a sad song charlie wrote. dan's spot on btw]"
at this point you've probably picked up that it'd mostly just be "oh, that's good"s and confused polite fumblings. 2004 was a time when people were still pretty ignorant about this stuff but society, at least on surface level, was trying to get better about it. so you get a bunch of well meaning liberal minded people. somebody says something like "oh you must have been born charlotte then?", and other things that are just curiosity but make charlie cringe a little
and maybe some parts get more serious than others but i honestly do not have the strength. and this isn't something i write a lot so i'm at a loss at how to make this all interesting so just. here ya go. i think that dan one is the most interesting one i wrote. and i have no idea where that locke stuff came from but it felt right. i have this more elaborate back and forth in my read regarding charlie and claire but that's something i'd wanna put in a proper fic, not throw it together here and now in a response. annnyways
i think the main reason charlie wouldn't come out to everybody is out of fear of being mocked, abused, that sort of thing. but he also doesn't want them looking at him and not seeing... him anymore
it's rather sad, really. but i do think a fair chunk of the lost characters would be good people about this. and most importantly, the people charlie cares about most, his parents, liam, claire, would all be lovely about it, i feel. and as i said, i just couldn't imagine any of the lost characters i care about being that kind of abusive to charlie. the worst i can imagine is some bullshit from sawyer. because i love sawyer but he is an asshole who's a product of his time and environment. but even then, i can't imagine it too... severe, ya know? sawyer has a good heart too. basically i'm idealistic <3
thank you for your time
