Reactions to Chaos Creator's Chapter 254

TL;DR - Cale's group arrives at a desert near 1st Star Ryan's castle. Cale is worried about Alberu. Horns feel anxious about the destructive trio.

The Funny Moments Cale's group arrived near Ryan's lair, which was a dense forest in the middle of a desert. White Snake admitted that it was odd, but also unique. And we had our first funny moment with the three kids.

Hong and Raon decided to roll down the sand as On watched them. But Cale was concerned when he heard Raon laughing "Kwahahaha!" instead of his usual "Hihi" or "Hehe". I guess Raon's been hanging out with Toonka lately? 😂

Up next was the scene of Cale worrying about Alberu:

Tasha, who caught Cale's gaze, smiled. -Human, human! Tasha's gotten really strong! As Raon said, who flew by him, Tasha became really strong. 'She's dependable.' Cale smiled naturally. It was a good to have a strong ally. -The crown prince would be happy to know this! Too bad you can't reach him! Crown Prince Alberu Crossman. Cale attempted a video call to him, but unfortunately he couldn't get in touch. Instead, a few hours later, he got a message. -I'm playing the game. Cale thought he couldn't get in touch because Alberu was playing a virtual reality game. "Let's go." The whole party set out. Cale, who was trying to follow, paused for a moment. '…No way-' Crown Prince Alberu Crossman. 'He's not obsessed with that game, right?' Impossible. That thorough-minded person would never be so addicted to games that he would skip work and meals just to play games, right? Cale let out a laugh. "Silly me." What a ridiculous idea. He shook his head and quickly followed his companions. 'Yes.' The sudden chill and cold feeling down his spine right now was probably due to the cool breeze blowing in from his companions who had moved ahead of him. Cale tried to ignore the hot sunlight of the desert that was unlike the north, and rubbed the goosebumps on his arms.

AHAHAHAHAHA!!! Alberu is a game addict confirmed! 🤣🤣🤣

Lastly was the scene with poor Horns and the destructive trio as they arrived at the capital and saw the central temple.

Horns: We're here. Rasheel: *standing in a tilted position* The capital is indeed the capital. Quite flashy, huh? Hannah: *fiddling with her sword handle* Its grandeur is less than the Church of the Sun God. Clopeh: Fufu. *laughing shallowly with a handsome appearance* Horns: *feeling very anxious but keeping it inside*...Let's go.

Clopeh, why are you laughing like that? Are you really planning to... convert that church to Caleism? 😂

Wolf Tribe Chief The wolf tribe chieftain finally returned to her normal self today, and she also went with Cale's group in the desert. The problem was... the author forgot the name given to her in an earlier chapter.

She was called Jessie back in chapters 217-218, but in today's chapter, she was called "Nia." 🤨 It's like that Black Blood patriarch situation again with "Wallot" and "Reddok." 😂

So Nia was described as a timid girl the same age as Lock. She calmed down after Lock and Gashan exhausted her strength, like how CH and Rosalyn did to Lock back then. Nia clearly recalled what she did during her berserk transformation, so she was feeling shy and apologized to everyone about the trouble she caused.

Cale thought that she resembled Lock in that timid aspect, but from what he heard from the other beastkin, she was not originally like this. She was more of a Litana. Her berserk experience temporarily turned her into a Lock.

Ending Remarks Game addict Alberu was today's highlight for me. 🤣🤣🤣 Next chapter would be Cale meeting Wisha's secret allies who would guide them to the source of the world.

I meant to post something about when Cale received the letter from the God of Death, but that whole bit is just too damn good. I basically focused on reading it and didn't really think of writing about it.

This is where we truly start to learn about Kim Rok Soo's past. There were a lot of teasers before - learning that his Korea has monsters, that he was a Team Leader, that his company dealt with monsters and corrupt guilds. That he had an ability like Record.

There were some flashbacks, especially to some of his interactions with Choi Jung Soo (who we learned died before him back when Cale had that memory after fighting the golems) and Lee Soo Hyuk...

And then we got the letter from the God of Death, and Kim Rok Soo had a truly traumatic flashback to when they all died.

I think this is the first time we truly saw him shaken? The guy with the perfect memory, the guy who could record and playback everything, experienced something so traumatic that his records were broken.

We see that Kim Rok Soo was an analyst. A very good one. One able to predict a terrible monster (and thus felt guilty that his entire team died fighting said monster -though he seems to have worked through that. Some. Mostly.

We see how he interacted with his friends, really his family. And in a subordinate role, unlike most of what we've seen.

There's this bit where he'd overused his ability and had a bloody nose, and Lee Soo Hyuk tells him

‘Kim Rok Soo, wipe your nosebleed. You should get some rest if you have overloaded.’

Which contrasts with after their deaths, when he's briefing the reinforcements and notes

The reinforcements all focused on his explanation, but nobody said anything about wiping his bloody nose.

So much desolation from such a small thing.

And the request to retrieve their bodies! Over and over again, we've seen how much Cale cares about retrieving bodies and showing respect for the dead. Insisting on improving the graves at Harris Village, recovering all the remains from the Path of No Return, protecting the dead in the fight against Adin...

While that didn't solely come from this incident (the losses in his monster torn Korea played a role, this is why he truly understands how important that is for the ones left behind.

And we also see how he didn't want his team to fight that monster. He knew, with all his analytical skills, that it was too powerful. That it was likely that they'd all die. Even though even more people would die if they didn't (since the guild in that area had run away).

He straight up says how it made him feel.

The reinforcements had been too late. Boom. Boom. Cale’s heart suddenly ran wild. The sense of responsibility, anger, and sorrow that had made Kim Rok Soo’s heart boil had risen. 

A responsibility to stay alive (even if he doesn't really want to), to carry on in Lee Soo Hyuk's place ('I leave it to you').

We learn why he despises the concept of heroic sacrifice so much, why he works so hard to come up with plans that ensure nobody has to. That nobody is ever in the position where they feel compelled to do so (though if it does come to that, he'd rather be the one to do so... Than be the one left behind. Again.)

And there's this, that he thinks after Raon and Alberu break his flashback (such good friends and family) and he finishes the letter.

Cale knew that he was selfish and bad and that he cherished people who were important to him the most.

Selfish - because he wishes his team had run away and survived? Bad - because he knows that if they had, many more would have suffered instead?

He cares, he cares so damn much. And he also seems to hate himself quite a bit, though I say that not just because of this. Also his hypocrisy towards scars, where it's fine in Mary and Hannah and a sign of survival, but disgusting and something to hide in himself. That, and numerous other things that don't seem obvious at first because damn is he good at masking it and seeming normal, but yeah...

This whole scene is just so well done, means so much, answers so many of our questions, and once you know about it you can see how it affected everything.

Addendum: we also see a contrast between what Cale recalls here, and what Choi Han experiences with Choi Jung Soo's memories. Especially how he saw Kim Rok Soo use a metal board as a shield to defend him, and shortly after broke an arm.

Cale didn't mention that at all, didn't explain why he couldn't move when you he reinforcements came.

“Hey, human! The crown prince has dark circles under his eyes right now! His cheeks are hollow! We need to give him 10 apple pies, no, 100!” Cale sighed and wiped his eyes with both hands. He barely opened his mouth. *Aren’t you having a hard time?” - Crunchy. (Writing on paper sound idk) Alberu, who was working hard, stopped for a moment and smiled at Cale. With fresh eyes and a dull, yet innocent and pretty face, -You mean doing both work and games? “Yes, wouldn’t it be better to do it in moderation?” Cale spoke in a good way, and Alberu casually shrugged his shoulders and opened his mouth.

-Is it worth a try? At that time, Raon suddenly shouted. "Th-the crown prince looks like our human now!” And at the same time, Cale blurted out without realizing it. “This is driving me nuts.”

How does it feel Cale? Exhausting isn't it? Now you know how Alberu has felt for years🤣

Imagine:

Cale and his children were paying Alberu a visit like they do every week, only to find mini cookies versions of themselves in the cookie basket. The children are bursting with joy because and I quote "LOOK HUMAN WE LOOK SO CUTE AND SMALL AND GREAT AND MIGHTY AND DELI-" and well you can figure it out.So Cale in confusion of why there was a cookie version of him looks toward Alberu only for him to strug and and say "Aunty wanted to make cookies". And in true Cale fashion just accepts it and looks back at his childr--'wards' observing their reactions to the cookies.

When it comes down to when the cookies need to be eaten to most reluctant would be Raon because "I DON'T WANT TO EAT MINI ME HUMAN--HE HAS FEELINGS TOO" and sweet Hong would up end being affected, not wanting to eat his cookie look-a-like. On of course, being the smart cookie she is, understands its a cookie but because her lovely and sweet brothers won't eat it, she wont either.

Well on the other side of the spectrum we have Cale, who had absolutely zero problems eating his. And after--what felt like 30 minutes(to Cale at least)-- 10 minuets the children finally ate the cookies. Don't forget the fact that the children now want to make cookies but thats for another time. Let's not forget the ancient powers because there were cookies that represented them too.Like the glutton having,a course, a shield shaped cookie or how the cheapskate had a red lighting bolt. To sum it up the APs were chaotic. Well at least tea time that day wasn't boring.

you are probably all confused about why i’m tagging everyone here, and that’s understandable. and i will explain everything, like i should have long ago.

you remember all sidra i guess, don’t you ? you all started talking after she interacted with nora over the fact that she liked jeremy too and thought that he was too underrated for his own good. she even made multiple jeremy themes.

actually, yev had almost caught on what i want to tell all of you if it wasn’t for me lying. she had noticed that sidra’s spotify had changed into another username, my username. and i lied to her telling that i was one of sidra’s friend she gave her account to because she did not want to use it anymore, and i also told her she was alright. and she is still alright. because i am sidra.

i lied to all of you, and i am sorry, really. i just panicked when i left another time. i was in a dark place mentally and wanted to end it all, i almost did to be honest. if it wasn’t for a stupid classmate saving my ass and letting me cry on his shoulder i would have gone for good. i was just so tired of everything and saw no way out, and even if talking to all of you and writing made me feel better, i did not want you all to feel guilty over my death if i ended up succeeding. so, i deleted my account, and left tumblr for good without giving anyone any answer.

and, well, it backfired as i am right now talking to all of you. i felt ashamed of what i had tried to do and just wanted to turn pages. so i changed all my usernames and made a new account, wanting to restart anew. but then, i wrote an alberu fic and ely saw me once more, and we became friends once more. and i became friends with all of you once more. i was overjoyed to know you were all alright, and i hated myself for lying to all of you.

i decided to write that post because of a conversation that happened in a server with nora and yoghurt, and she mentioned sidra once more. and it just hurts. cuz i saw she was missing her, and i knew i was lying. and i am a liar. and i am so fucking sorry. and, to be honest, i will not blame any of you if you curse me, insult me and want nothing to do with me anymore because i hate myself too.

you can block me, and ignore me. i won’t be mad. i fucked up really bad and i cannot make up for it.

i give you all my sincerest apologies, and i wish you all the best, because i doubt we will meet again and i doubt you will all want to talk to a liar now. i am sorry, you were good friends. really good friends, and you deserved better than whatever i turned out to become in the end.

i hate myself as much as you probably all hate me now.

i think there was a comparison of tcf and tged here but atleast in tged og lloyd's parents still notice their son is not their actual son, unlike cale's family who were glad he just simply become non trash (this was the most upsetting when i read here that arcos and marbella noticed but cale's did not or even the butlers), a non family member didn't wish or say that it was great that og lloyd was replaced by someone else even if that someone is more helpful to the county, unlike alberu who was glad that cale got replaced, and another atleast suho plans to tell the truth to lloyd's parents unlike with rok soo to cale's parents who accepted he is cale (but then again og cale did request to accept the body they are in as who they are actually are)

i feel like i got a bunch of spoilers shoved down my throat but i have no context to them so no harm done ajshdksfd

i have no idea how fair it is to compare tged to tcf, they're two different pieces of media with their own themes, plots and characters going on and different people like different things. that's fine. i just personally disliked that people kept comparing my blorbo to their blorbo to make theirs look better. i don't want to the same thing! that's not very nice!

so i'm just gonna talk about what i do know which is the way tged treated og lloyd! i've read a bunch of isekai stories and it's rare the times the og characters are taken into account or even acknowledged so i was pleasantly surprised with how much focus tged put on the fact that suho did take someone's place, he did lie to his family and he did pretend to be someone he wasn't. and he feels genuinely sorry about it. he doesn't justify it by thinking he's better than og lloyd anyway so no harm done. he genuinely wants to apologize and make it right and he wants to do it at the right moment.

and then when the people around him find out the truth, they're not,,, happy about it. they don't think it was for the best or that og lloyd got what he deserved or that they're glad for it.

javier is the closest thing we get to something like that and even then he's genuinely torn about what he should do with the information. he hated og lloyd, absolutely despised the guy's guts, but even then he's not glad that he got replaced even when he acknowledges the new lloyd is hardworking, constructive and reliable. he doesn't know where his loyalties should lie and he's "filled with anguish" as he tries to decide what to do.

it would've been very easy for bk moon to just go "yeah he doesn't care that the son of the family he swore to protect got replaced by a stranger that's been lying to him for years" like, ahem, some other people would have, but instead he took the time to acknowledge that "hey, this is a genuinely fucked up situation, there's no right answer here, anyway you slice it someone will get hurt and the only way to move forward is to minimize the damage and make amends to the people who were hurt".

which is nice to see in an isekai! even tho og lloyd was absolute human garbage the narrative didn't dismiss him as a person and instead acknowledge that while it wasn't lloyd's fault there was still a someone being hurt by the fact he possessed a body that wasn't his.

and then when his parents find out they genuinely mourn the child they lost. there's no happiness, no joy, not even relief at being rid of a constant source of worry and disappointed. they're so... sad and heartbroken about their son being gone. even while they accept lloyd as their kid, even as much as they come to love him, there is no moment where they express any kind of pleasure about him replacing og lloyd. rather you get the sensation that they wish they could've had both of them at the same time, that they wish one hadn't come at the price of the other, that they love both of them so, so much even as different as they are.

the only one who doesn't express any kind of regret or sadness about og lloyd is julian which... honestly, it's very earned. no one should be forced to mourn their abuser, which exactly what og lloyd was to julian. if julian had expressed sadness over og lloyd that would've been his right, but the fact that he never did, at least not on-screen shouldn't be held against him, considering the amount of hurt og lloyd caused him.

so yeah! i really like the way bk moon handled this aspect of the story! again, i don't know how tcf works or what happens on it and at this point i'm not really interested in knowing! i'm sure it did its own thing and that it was great too!

Cale x Alberu

“Did you know that I loved you?” Alberu whispers, his bloodied hand coming up, knuckles gently brushing over Cale’s cheek. Cale feels his breath catch, like it was him impaled with that sphere. He’s glad that he sent the kids away. He doesn’t think he can fake composure now.

It is the past tense that gets to him, really. As if his love would go away, fade as he takes his last breath. Cale thinks Alberu’s love would scald him long after he’s gone, as much a part of him as sinew and bone. He would rot with it.

‘Cale?’ Alberu murmurs, ‘you know the other life? the one where we could’ve been happy together?’

“Tell me something about it,” he whispers. "It can be anything. Anything at all. Just—"

“No,” Cale says, voice stern and eyes on him as his heart clenches and trembles in his chest. “No you stupid fucking man. It is this life. You will live and we will be happy in this life. Die and I will kill you myself.”

Alberu closes his eyes at the certainty of Cale’s voice. He feels warm, throughout his whole body, there is a slow warmth that settles into his very bones, his veins, each and every inch of him. Oh, he hasn’t felt so warm in so very long.

Maybe it is utter stupidity but he cannot help it. Maybe it is his own desperation but it’s everything he’s only ever longed to hear. They are the words he wants to reach out and pluck from the air to keep forever, spoken by the loveliest man he’s ever known.

“Keep him awake, don’t fucking let him sleep. We’re a minute out.”

“Sun of the Roan Kindgom,” Cale croaks.

Alberu hums, fingers moving gently over Cale’s hand. “I would want a house, with enough room for the kids and a few guest rooms for Rosaline, Mary and the other’s when they drop by. Our home will be warm, never absolutely spotless despite Ron’s persistent cleaning, Raon’s cookie crumbs littering the floor. It is never absolutely silent, the kid’s laughter cutting through the air, it will be modest and comforting in it’s simplicity. Somewhere we exist, without worrying if we’re doing it too loudly or not. Somewhere where we are just Alberu Crossman and Cale Heitenuse, just two idiots madly in love.”

Oh, fuck Alberu feels too full, so full of this want, this ardor and love—all for his idiot. He doesn’t know what to do with it, how to hold all of it because it feels like too much in him, too big to fit inside, like it will drown him from within. Oh fuck, he doesn’t want to die. Not when — not now, heart clenching with how deeply yearning hooks into him.

Cale feels like he is drowning, Alberu’s every wheezed out breath pulling him under. Fuck, he’ll pray, he’ll get down on his knees, offer up his life if it meant Alberu would live. The ancient powers are silent. You fucking God of Death! Take him and I will burn this world. I fucking dare you. Take him and I will reduce this world of yours to nothing but ash and bone. How the fuck is he meant to handle it all? He feels like all this pain and love is tearing him apart from the inside, echoing with grotesque pops of flesh that only he could hear. People aren’t built to feel the way he feels for him, his sun, his prince. Surely, it would crush even the strongest of them and Cale certainly isn’t.  

“I would tell you I love you, every single day. You will let me sleep for as long as I’d like, keeping the kids from waking me. Sometimes, you try making Kimchi Jjigae and it would taste so fucking bad—”

“HEY!”

“But I’d eat it all. Sometimes you write me these silly little notes in Korean that you learn in secret from Choi Han—” His voice goes tight, like he’s feeling too much, knees ready to buckle.

“Please, Alberu, crown prince, my sun, love please,” he dissolves into incoherent blubbering, pressing in and curling closer.

“Hey, Cale? I love you.” he confesses, releasing a hoarse laugh. What he wants to say is that he’d do anything for him, whatever he wanted.

A punched out noise escapes him and he goes really still, because that just sounded like a goodbye.

Alberu goes still in his arms just as Goldie Gramps lands with Tasha and a Dark Elf doctor.

I like to think that the others underestimate Cale's ( Not Rok Soo's because they've already been traumatized enough, that man needed constant supervision because he just won't stay still) insane creativity at being self-destructive, like I can't find the right words to describe it but Cale, at least in your story, had this air around him that seems like his careful, that they can trust him he won't get hurt, that at least they can trust him with his health because look, he's exercising so that he would be healthy, unlike Rok Soo who would rather skillfully neglect himself until he's nothing but skin and bones, at least we won't have to worry that he'll overwork himself till he faints like a certain someone-

Then BAM-

He just run headfirst into what most likely is his impending doom, fearlessly flirting through unnecessary dangers and throwing himself into certain death and oh- This one isn't different at all, if anything he's worse.

Because at least with Rok Soo, he isn't alone. He'll take Choi Han with him, he had the children with him, he'll bring companions with him when he's feeling like butting in with somebody else's business but this one however, he goes into his suicidal missions by himself, with only his wit and overly destructive powers alone like the crazy bastard that he is.

While I was reading through your story, the chat with Xavian stuck in my head like glue, because to me, it just seemed to be hinting about Cale's personality, that he won't drag others into his mess for their safety, that while he can ask for help he won't because he can't endanger them. I've always felt like the difference between Rok Soo and Cale is that Rok Soo is willing to accept help if it means it'll lighten the burden and finish the job faster while Cale just simply draw the line earky on and do it himself, even if it means it's slow-going.

This rant could be just a bunch of nonsense my brain spits out but I really want this out because I just really love your story, and I enjoy making my own theories about what that and this means, overcomplicating things is my specialty, so hope you won't mind!

Also, I pray for the Alberu in your story because now, he had two crazy bastards as his sworn brothers, it's double the headache. They'll most likely drive him crazy! Poor guy...

No it's not a bunch of nonsense and I like reading theories and deep anylsis on some parts anyone could overlook, please come share your thoughts often lol, and you're right in this, Cale in my story is even worse than Rok Soo. He has this habit where he separates general goal from personal, even if he has his team members let's say, he would only contact and ask them to do something for a mission if it's for their job or something they all aim for, but if it's something he alone is aiming for then he would rather do it by himself than ask their help because it's about him alone so why drag others and most possibly get hurt for his sake?

It's not like he likes to put himself in danger but it's just his past traumas that makes him prefer going around all alone and usually comes out of it unscathed or alive at least.

If his team members insist on helping he would accept it eventually, however not the case with others, he would accept from Rok Soo if not for Choi Han and others surrounding him who could go insane should anything happen to their dear person, he can't trust them not go crazy mad against him even if they are being nice and friendly with him now. Past experiences, again. So if his team members were with him currently in the story the situation would be so different. It all depends on the people around him and how they make him feel and how much they are willing to offer.

Reactions to Chaos Creator's Chapter 267

TL;DR - Cale and Alberu tease each other. Cale meets Pope Kesilia. Raon is curious about DHB's name. Raon's friendliness warms Kesilia's heart.

The Teasing First half of the chapter was Cale and Alberu teasing each other.

Alberu: In that virtual world, levels have a huge impact. Even if Rank 1 Ahn Roh Man is on our side, it's only proper for me to become as strong as possible. That way, I can carry you, CH, and Raon. Raon: Human, what is carry? What are levels? Alberu: I'll tell you more when you return to Roan. But let me say this. This place, this place is really… It's a new and huge world. Cale's attempt to tease Alberu's health completely backfired on him. 🤣🤣🤣

Raon and Kesilia Raon was so cute today. Pope Kesilia was depicted as a character obsessed with dragging down everyone with her, but now that she met Raon, it might be possible that she would have a change of heart.

Raon asked for her name, but Kesilia refused to say it, being fine with just being called the pope. Raon was being friendly with her, not minding that she was a mixed blood dragon, so she felt confused. He even offered to introduce Cale's DHB to Kesilia if she wanted friends.

There was also Raon noticing that she was in pain, and offering again to introduce her to his mom and Eruhaben who helped with treating DHB's pain. Kesilia felt strangely warm at Raon treating her nicely.

DHB's Name Oh my goodness, the author finally remembered this! We still did not get a name reveal, but Cale confirmed that he had already thought of one after putting much thought in it.

But our cutie Raon did not believe Cale, and was asking the pope for her name in hopes that Cale would get inspiration from hearing the name of another mixed blood dragon. And then, Raon made a cute assumption.

Raon was talking about DHB, and blurted that DHB was called someone Miru. Hmm... why is this hard to word? It's something like ____ Miru. Blank Miru? That doesn't sound right. Whatshisname Miru? Sounds better, but still strange.

Everyone was surprised to hear that, even Raon himself. From the fact that Raon assumed that Cale would give DHB the last name of Miru like him, to the fact that Raon knew that DHB once tried to kill him, yet he was fine in sharing the same last name with DHB.

I guess Raon was feeling conflicted like his mom regarding DHB. Meanwhile, Kesilia was puzzled about this young dragon willing to share the same last name to a mixed blood dragon who once tried to kill him. It must be unimaginable for her who was treated badly by the Aipotu dragons on the Dragon Lord's side. 😢

Crazy Clopeh Clopeh claimed that it was Rasheel who destroyed one of the temple's buildings, but Cale was having doubts about that, given the expression of the pope towards Clopeh. 😂

We never got to know what exactly the destructive trio did at the temple, but it was pretty much confirmed that Clopeh talked about Cale so much like a legendary hero. And Hannah said that Cale was a kind guy. So it was no wonder that 3rd Bishop Horns and the unnamed 1st Bishop treated Cale in awe. Or Pope Kesilia being friendly and cooperative with him.

Of course, Cale wondered how Clopeh introduced him to them because of their reactions. 😂 And also felt dizzy just thinking about it. 🤣🤣🤣

Ending Remarks Today's chapter was so good with its funny and heartwarming moments. 🥰 Next chapter would be Cale beginning his dragon lair looting plans, or probably more planning stuff. But the name tease of DHB has got me excited. I guess his last name will be Miru too because Cale did not object to Raon's words. So the only mystery now is his first name. Raon Miru. Dodam Miru. It seems like the Miru family is gaining a new member~!

I have enjoyed some of the TCF reaction fics, but I feel like there's a major problem.

Namely, that it's really hard for fic writers to stay motivated for over 700+ chapters, so it feels like they all start off strong for the beginning (especially rescuing Raon) and then peter out. We never get to the really good stuff.

Never reach that flashback when Cale reads the letter from the GoD, or see reactions to Choi Han rushing over to see Kim Rok Soo after getting Choi Jung Soo's records. Never have them see the Sealed God's test, and really... Post-apocalyptic Korea horrified Alberu, for good reason. Not that it's explicitly stated, but when is it ever? He had quite the reaction when he was trying to decide what to tell everyone else.

I've had some thoughts on how I would do it, but fair warning - I'm not much of a writer, and will probably never write it. All my respect for the ones that regularly write fanfic because I have like - less than a handful? Maybe, maybe, if I haven't moved on after finishing this reread, I'll try writing it myself.

The other thing is that I've been reading part 2 - only as far as eatapplepies has translated as I find mtl more confusing than helpful - and I'm really liking the Heavenly Demon. He seems to have fallen for our Cale pretty hard, and I'm interested in seeing how that goes.

So I have been playing around with ideas.

First - Dodam is trying to find 'that terrible bastard', and is dragging around his Choi Han.

He reaches Korea. Og!Cale as KRS, specifically. He has his own attribute, one to help him track down Cale, so he can pull up visions/memories related to that.

He pulls up the dream meeting between Cale and KRS.

There are a few team 1 members present, particularly Kim Minh Ah. Cue a bit of chaos, some 'aha' moments, and the long and the short of it is Dodam is going to pull up some of just what they're team leader is up to. (And if Dodam can figure out exactly which world or dimension to to next, and OG! Cale gets the bittersweet ability to see how his deal with the God of Death prevented the destruction he'd lived through, well... That's fine too)

During that brief moment, the Henituse noticed some strange mana fluctuations and managed to get Rosalyn there. She's basically able to tap into the feed and see and hear what's going on.

And divine intervention (like perhaps a god of love) extends the feed to the Heavenly Demon.

What would follow would be an abbreviated version of the key points. Sure, it loses some of the flavor... But we don't actually need, say, the amusing anecdote where an elf mistook Cale for a dragon.

Anyways, the more I thought about it the more I thought about how team 1 would react.

Because the minute they see those monster statues you know they'll all be going 'what the fuck?!?'

They will probably also nod knowingly at some of Cale's more shocking plans. Like hey, there he goes agreeing to help the Mogoru Empire put out the fire he started with the Whipper kingdom.

Nod, nod

Just like he did when they were dealing with that one corrupt guild

And if they ever get as far as seeing the Heavenly Demon, I'm sure one team member will be like 'Is.. is he flirting with Team Leader-nim?!?'

Cue stories where Team Leader Kim Rok Soo avoided a honeypot - except now they're thinking maybe he was just too dense to notice?

I was gonna post this as a reply for this post by @he4d-banger but it got too long so I’m making it a separate post.

I have talked about this before but I’ll talk again because I love talking about Cale’s complex emotional state.

More than pushing them away, Cale completely ignored his grief which has made him completely emotional constipated. This has lead to many side affects which get glossed over most of the time since we read the novel from Cale’s pov.

Some that I can remember from the top of my head right now are: dissociation, selective memory, depression, anxiety, stress and tons of physical problems like eating disorder, etc. which I’ll get into more another time. His self destructive tendencies based on the decisions he makes are all because of his emotional constipation.

Cale’s denial over his own symptoms has become chronic over the years even tho it’s fairly visible from other peoples perspective. Some instances I can remember where we see Cale’s condition from other peoples pov are: moments when Alberu tells him he’ll definitely get his slacker life, everyone’s reaction to him smiling after crying, Choi Han meeting younger Cale, the villains’ reaction when Cale gets angry, everyone telling him he’s too weak and skinny, Ron and Choi Han’s pov during side story 7 after Cale dreamed about CJS and LSH first death anniversary, etc. Everyone can recognize that he’s not well.

And about the venting on destroying stuff, that’s exactly correct. Many times when we see the fight from the other pov of the villain, most of the dialogue is about how angry and terrifying Cale looks. Of course part of that could be due to the effect of Dominating Aura, but they specifically mention Cale’s expression and the look in his eyes a lot. That’s what truly terrifies them. Cale doesn’t recognize this but he’s really expressive, everyone says that he’s very expressive and lets his emotions slip through his face.

Another case when he couldn’t control his emotions anymore was when he cried. An interesting fact is that people who aren’t used to crying and/or hold themselves back from crying, once they do actually cry they can’t stop the flow of tears and are motionless and/or rather calm and quiet. It’s that silent unstoppable crying that Cale displayed. His grief finally exploded after meeting LSH and he couldn’t understand the sadness he was feeling at that moment because the meeting ended with consolidation and relief. All the pain over the deaths of his best friends finally released.

That is a complete contrast to his reaction in side story 7 after the first anniversary of his team’s death. When he arrived home he just collapsed on the floor expressionless. Not once did he cry. But the way he collapsed at that moment said a lot about his state at the time. All the stress accumulated in his body from holding back his emotions all day today affected his physical health to total exhaustion

Actually in my opinion SS7 is one of the best chapters about examining Cale’s emotional state. There are multiple visible of him suppressing his emotions like: keeping a neutral expression all day around, refusing to mention what day it was tomorrow even though everyone knew, not closing his eyes in front of the grave because the memories would resurface, the small panic attack shown by his shortage of breath, background silence and feeling of heaviness, and you can see how burned out emotionally and physically he feels. The only way he wouldn’t feel these things was by working, as it is noted multiple times throughout the story that he never took days off.

And my favorite moment was when we see Cale waking up from the dream and very clearly experiencing signs of ptsd and a panic attack. He was feeling cold despite the entire house being heated with magic, cold sweat running down his face, shortage of breath as soon as he woke up and a distressed expression as shown from Ron and Choi Han’s pov He also felt the need to hear noises and pet the kids to make him feel a sense of attachment with reality since the silence in his memories made him feel suffocated. Tho Cale himself couldn’t recognize these symptoms.

That side story also shows how he has grown emotionally throughout the novel now becoming more emotionally open with others.

I can also go on about his selective memory, anxiety, get more into his self destructive lifestyle and about his obvious signs of depression during his team leader days and early part of the novel while touching on his childhood trauma, but this post is already long enough so I’ll leave those for another day.
