eleven is fascinating to me because he came right off the back of tens horrible traumatic breakdown after he lost everything and he immediately tried to establish himself as the opposite of that. he is funny and goofy and almost childlike, and he bulldozes on in his adventures with amy like nothing happened at all. but then something happens and his masks slips and it's like oh! the core of this man is still anger. he is so so angry all of the time and this façade is the only thing stopping him from being consumed by it. he isn't over any of it and he hasn't moved on. he is wearing a fez and laughing but under that all that exists is age old anger and grief and it is going to consume him

Prompt 138
Danny squints up at the blurry form cradling him, brain trying to catch up with his situation. He can feel the pulse of his siblings’ cores nearby, gently pulsing contentedly despite the chaos of his last memories. His limbs feel too small and pudgy, too-small fingers gripping onto something as his vision started to clear.
There was a man, holding him? Cradling his too-small form like he was an infant- was he an infant? He was pretty sure he wasn’t supposed to be, he had been older but now he wasn’t. He squinted up at the stranger, green eyes meeting green. Huh. They kind of looked like he could be their dad or something.

the great thing about tua is that it’s one of the biggest shows on netflix rn but the fandom still feels like 30 people drawing on brick walls in chalk and passing handwritten notes to each other at the back of a classroom

thinking about how dean’s monstrosity is about enjoying violence and torturing people (mostly men) & sam’s monstrosity is about being inherently unclean and his body being used as a tool for use and abuse by others

The methods of dealing with the big bads in Buffy are so funny and get increasingly more unhinged like s1 and 2 are vampires and we killed them. s3 a giant snake monster and we blew it the hell up. s4 a frankenstein monster robot that we killed by melding all of our souls together and using magic to give Buffy superpowers so she can rip out his heart. s5 an invincible god so Giles just straight up murdered its innocent human host to kill it. s6 our good friend Willow who we asked very nicely to please stop murdering people and destroying the world and now she continues to hang out with us and occasionally do ridiculously powerful feats of magic but it's OK she's not quite as depressed and suicidal anymore so she probably won't kill us all. And s7 was just the ultimate evil so we went back to the classic tactic of blowing it's army the hell up.

I kinda wish people would stop saying "we all need more rep" when someone mentions how they want to see rep of their identity in media.
Many of my own posts expressing the want for non-partnering or repulsed rep usually get met with "we need more kinds of aspec rep in general" and it just feels so backhanded? If that makes sense?
Like "oh YOU want rep? Okay but EVERYONE ELSE should get rep too! We ALL need rep." It just feels that it is being purposefully ignorant to the point of the posts and brushing off the issue because they personally can't relate to the rep being asked for.
No one is saying that we should ONLY have x kind of rep. No one is saying the other identities get more. So why put such an addition onto a post asking for rep? Not every post has to include every identity ever in it. Posts don't only have to be advocating for everyone or no one.

the thing about post-rose ten is he IS casually cruel. he tells donna to her face that she's not clever, not special, not important - and gets slapped for it, which to my mind is kinda the reason the doctor-donna relationship works. he tells martha's coworker not to waste his time, to stay behind, she'll only hold them up. leaves her crying. and like, devoting his energy to the problem at hand (the hospital is on the moon, there's an alien situation going on, everyone here and possibly everyone on earth is at risk) is the practical move at the time. but there's an obvious casual cruelty to it that he wouldn't have stooped to before.
and I'm just reminded of the way donna forgot all her loudness and bluff and immediately snapped to empathy when there were people hurt. you're a doctor, you can help. I remember her watching in horror as the doctor presided over the execution of children and the destruction of a species - and telling him he can stop now. I remember her saying that yeah, her ex-fiance, the man who poisoned her and used her and secretly looked down on her all this time, he didn't deserve to die like he did, which is a pretty big admission given the freshness of that betrayal. she has a good heart. and I can see why she would be good for this new, cruel, forgotten-his-kindness-in-all-his-pain doctor.
and I'm just so, so sorry that martha had to know this version of him in the meantime.
