DCxDP fanfic idea: Corporate Rivals
Bruce is really excited to hire a boy genius from a small time town. He found him by accident while scrolling through some creative writing competition past winners on various school sites. He originally wanted ideas for his own contest for the annual Wayne Young Writers Scholarship when he stumbled up Amity Parks Youth Authors.
Daniel Fenton's science fiction had won second place, and Bruce thinks he only lost due to the judges not realizing all the science of the gadgets his charaters used were real. Real, well explain and proper research. Daniel obviously knew his stuff and knew it well.
He had reached out to Daniel with a science scholarship opportunity, wanting to see what he would come up with. He gave him a basic assignment asking him to fulfill a prompt "Software or Hardware development for disabled" in either theory or model. If he created something worthwhile, Bruce would send him ten grand.
Daniel did not disappoint, not only doing the theory paper but also sending back a prototype of a pocket ASL translator. It would be an app on a phone that would have an AI watching through a camera of the person doing sign language and say out loud what the person was saying. It had a few bugs here and there, but for a high schooler, those were very impressive accomplishments.
Bruce found himself sponsoring the boy for early high school graduation. The young Fenton boy was a genius just like his parents, but he lacked proper motivation. Bruce suspected it was due to his school not challenging him enough much like Tim.
When Daniel got his diploma Bruce offered a few rid to Gotham University with the condition he would be a employee at WE. Daniel agreed under the condition it was as a proper employee and not a unpaid intern. A little daring for a kid getting already a amazing deal but Bruce liked his moxy and agreed.
Daniel Fenton was to be a worker in the RD department for WE tech in one week.
He couldn't wait to introduce him to Tim. Two young geniuses would get along swimmingly with their shared brain prowess!
______________________________________
Tim hated the new guy.
They were the same age, but everyone acted like he was amazing for finishing high school and starting university while also being a top WE reseacher and Devloper at such a young age.
Oh Tim was CEO, but as many people have whispered, he didn't graduated Highschool or have a GED so the only reason he got to be CEO was because of nepotism. Danny on the other hand got his position through hard work.
Which was ironic, seeing as the company has never done so well since Tim came on board. Their sales, PR, and production numbers all tripled because of him. Danny, on the other hand, was a sloth with little to no ambition. He didn't even work well with others! He mostly did solo projects and everyone seemed fine with that since genius "need their own space"
Tim has been networking since he was three years old, and failure to do so had always reflected badly on him and his company. He spent his entire life careful choosing his words and his actions. Even his appearance, what he wore, his hairstyle even the hand gesture when he talked, were planned before hand.
Then comes Fenton, who avoids crowds, dressed in the worst formal wear Tim has ever seen . Black jeans were not formal!- and acted like this important office was just a after school hang out spot. Now Tim was much more laid back than his board co-workers, who were all in their fifties or older, and even more relax then the mangers or superiors of lower stations but even he could not understand Fenton blaring music, bags of chips lingering everywhere and his ordination skills were none existing!
Not to mention the fact Daniel didn't believe in using computers unless he had to. His office was covered in towers of paper that he scribbled and work on! It was such a waste!
And yet, despite all of that, Daniel was rapidly becoming an asset to WE. His ASL translator app wasn't finished, but it had everyone buzzing with excitement and would be well received when it was released with Wayne Phones as a built in app.
Tim tried to avoid him as best he could least he get offended by his lack of work proper behavior
Daniel Fenton did not understand what it meant to put your all into something that you lost yourself along the way. Best to ignore him.
________________________________________
Danny couldn't stand his company CEO. Timothy Drake reminded him a little too much of the A-listers but without the bulling bit. Somehow, that made it worse.
Timothy was popular because he was well liked. He didn't need to relay on his good looks or aggression to make other yeild to him like Paulina or Dash. Even if he was ridiculously good looking to the point, Danny confused him for a siren when he met him.
He had the ability to walk into any room and take command if it. Timothy didn't even need to speak, his very presence commanded attention and awe. Not to mention how great he was at his job.
WE had always been a popular corporation but under Timothy's command they rose to one of the most important corporations in the world. Bruce Wayne was raised to run a company, Timothy Drake was born to run it. There was a large enough difference between the two that anyone could see Timothy was superior at running things.
Danny was nothing like that. He couldn't talk to people, couldn't make them like him, and often he was overlooked for his sister or his wacky but loveable parents.
He was the other Febton. The one that was there and nothing else. A few months ago he was even considered the dumb Fenton, who somehow was skipped over for intelligence.
Then he wrote a little story and everything changed.
Danny turned out to be a proper Fenton, after all, having gotten the attention of Bruce Wayne for his mind. His parents haven't been so proud of him in a long time, and he found himself accepting the job position after graduating high school early before he knew it.
Along with the job came a move to Gotham city. He went after debating it a great deal with his family and friends, but the deal was too sweet to turn down. Now he was in Gothem and he knew absolutely no one.
Danny didn't know how to make new friends here. Tucker and Sam had been the ones to approach him at the beginning of their friendships. He also was scared of getting close to his co-worker less they suspect his Phantom powers.
He knew that Metas was not welcome, and he thought Batman wouldn't care that he was technically dead and not with a meta gene.
So he focused on his work, avoiding large crowds and keeping his head down. He would turn on music to help pass the loneliness and would gater papers to write down his thoughts less they made him mad by running around his head all day.
This anxious insecurity was something Timothy Drake would never understand. He just shone like a fallen star, dazzling the masses with his neat press suits, easy charisma, and intelligent bedroom eyes. Best to ignore him.
________________________________________
Dick never really ventured to WE now that he moved out. He made a habit of trying to visit Tim every two weeks for lunch to fix this. He also really wanted to spend more one on one time with his little brother now that they reconsidled from Bruce's timeline fiasco.
He was still well known by the employees, even new ones, so when Dick arrived to the lobby he was waved in by security. The receptionists were all huddled together muttering to eachother and missed his entrance since security didn't call out to him.
Dick could tell the gossip they were talking about was juicy based on the way Lola was wiggling her eyebrows and Stacy and Isaiah's reaction.
He creeps closer to the front desk, hoping to hear something good.
"Isn't that against the rules?" Isaiah asks.
"WE doesn't have anything like that. Not since Thomas Wayne married his old PA and had Bruce. I think it's cute that Mr.Drake is following in his adoptive Grandfather's footsteps."
Dick paused, shocked. Tim liked someone at WE!?
"They aren't even dating yet, Lola"
"Yeah but you can cut the sexual tension with a- Mr. Grayson! I'm so sorry, I didn't see you. How can I help you?"
Dick blinks. "Oh I'm here to see Tim for lunch. But what was that about Tim you were saying?"
The woman pales as the other two quickly become busy with some email or another.
"Oh, um, I'm so sorry, sir. I shouldn't have -"
"It's fine I don't mind a little chat between co-workers. I'm just curious"
Lola stares before nervously blurting "Rumor has it that um, Mr.Drake has a thing for Daniel Fenton"
"The new boy genius?" Dick thinks about it considering what he knows of Tim's type and his past preferences in partners before nodding "That tracks actually"
He says his thanks and hurries away to Tim's office unaware he may have confirmed a relationship between Tim and Danny.
The gossip circles in WE exploded with the news everyone careful not to let the two subjects hear a whisper.

OMG GOLDY, your post where you mention catching a grenade for the one you love. I can't stop thinking about a few months back when Jk was going through his missing Jimin spiral & during one of those lives, he sang Bruno Mars Grenade. Its so painful to listen to him. He wanted Jimin so bad while he was super duper busy & now we know Jikook have had this planned out for a while, enlisting and going through the process for a while. He really meant that song, every fucking word of it.
Also Jikook are fucking geniuses. Some said they thought they were laying low publicly cause of MS & now it seems true. They didn't want added attention cause they were going through the process behind the scenes. They weren't about to gay out. Taking separate planes to meet up. Smart as fuck. Jk however, couldn't keep his emotions in check & kept going rogue on their plan & started doing his Jimin lives. Doing online stuff Just enough to let us know everything was great, even if we weren't seeing them together. Jk timing his lives when JM leaves & posting pics for Jimin to comment. You sneaky little shits. Its all deliberate. Jikook keeping it online, even though we know they were meeting up behind closed doors, due to things they were saying and things they were working on, that was picked up by k-army. Like Jimin talking about them drinking together or Jk mentioning Jimin moving his stuff. Never underestimate queers in the closet. They always get their message across. Now that the process is over and it seems to be a done deal for them. Now look. Jikook took that plane TOGETHER to Tokyo (no more separate planes) and went on one last vacation together. No more worries cause it's most likely set in stone them enlisting together and the hard part is over and now nothing can hinder it now. Damn, that must have killed Jikook having to watch people claim they weren't close after Chapter 2. Don't those people feel stupid.
I also wonder if this is why Jk tried to say that J on his finger above the M is for Jk, cause its too obvious going into Military with a big ass J M on his wedding ring finger, knowing he is enlisting with JM. Interesting.
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
The closet can feel so safe and miserable at the same time. Imagine the source of your security also being the one thing chipping away at your mental health and sanity.
I don't wish that on anyone.
But it's also the safest place we could ever be.
Jungkook should have been more creative than he was coming up with that cock and bull story about the JM.
When you think about how Jimin had to fight Namjoon on stage when he called him JM the whole Jm on his hand start to feel even more sus than it already is.
Like how did that conversation go?
Jk: Guys look, I tattooed my initial on my ring finger above Army. It's J for Jungkook. Not Jeon. Jungkook.
Tumblr media
Bts: wait a damn mininute that spells..... JM not JK
Tumblr media
JK: HOLD ON IT DOES? HUH.... THAT'S WEIRD
Tumblr media
Jimin: don't look at me my name is J.I.M.I.N not JM
Tumblr media
Those two are accomplices 😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
I want the interview where someone asks them about the JM thingy again cos it's too in our faces not to notice and surely he's seen it, noticed it- like did the thought never occur to him his hand makes so much sense if it was attached to Jimin's wrist? Cos I swear if people didn't know him and you showed them that hand they'd assume that was Jimin's hand since it had his initials on there.
If I were a director at Hybe, I'd set them up and let them talk about it head on and make a joke out of it with Jimin stating for the camera- Jungkook is obsessed with me he even has my name on his finger.
I mean he said he's always thought Jk was his copy cat it would make so much if he escalates it into obsession cos that's where we at now🤧
Imagine people start calling him JM instead of JK because they think that's his name🥲💀

Jimin's documentary is what I've been wanting from bts for YEARS. I'm so glad they released such raw material. Jimin's musicality is insane, and it seems like the producers were 100% aware of that because of how much they relied on jimin and his creativity. I think it was during the commentary that he mentioned what he felt the first time pdogg approved one of his ideas, and then he called himself an idea bank!! He's usually so hard on himself, it's refreshing to hear that even though there's always a place for improvement, he knows how good he is. Another thing I enjoyed was listening to the previous versions of the songs that made it into the album and the one that was supposed to be the title track and finally got scrapped. I think I liked the alone and set me free pt.2 demos a bit more than the final product. I feel like that intrinsic grittiness and unpolished quality of an unfinished product was really fitting, and in the case of smf2 I kinda feel like it ended up overproduced... I guess, if that makes sense. Anyways, I really, really appreciate the route Jimin decided to take for his solo career, I truly hope we get to see more of that before he leaves, and when he comes back I'd love for him to get the chance to continue showing his artistry as a soloist. And regarding army shading jimin and trying to undermine him lol... what else is new? I remember namjoon once said that army would not like to see what it looks like behind the scenes when they were recording and stuff and I guess he was right. I know they hated to see how reality goes against the narratives the company has been feeding them for a decade. The supposed geniuses in the band have yet to release something as good as like crazy and they know it.
I was trying to catch some of the things Jimin said during his live watching and I was so pleasantly surprised to see how confident he was. Like, yes. He is an idea bank. That's the best way to put it because during the production, he kept coming up with stuff on the spot. I think PDogg and the rest of the marching band were so open to this because they knew how Jimin worked. That's why I keep saying that having a small team with people that know each other so well worked perfectly for Jimin and his first album.
There's no way of knowing exactly what RM said about what happens behind the scenes during pre-recordings and if it's close to what we've seen now in the documentary, but what I took from that is that in real life, people having to work on something is not all sunshines and rainbows or fun like when they recorded the ITS song. The audience gets to see the nicer, aesthetized version a lot of the times.
I'll refrain from commenting on the rapline releases now, but I'll do say about Like Crazy is that out of all the so-called "Chapter 2" songs, it is in my view the only one which is artistically compelling, intricate, well produced, tells a story, it's part of a bigger conceptual album, but also has the potential to be commercially succesful as well, which is the mark of a good pop song.

i was saying this to @xenospects but one of the big reasons behind why eichi "can never get bored of wataru" is because he has no idea how to copy him. eichi is used to basically just being able to acquire any skill he admires. in circus he teaches himself how to do challenging circus performances without having to do much actual practice by obsessively watching videos of how they're done, carefully memorizing the details, and doing them over and over and over and over in his mind so when he is able to physically practice he's already done the bulk of the mental work. in milky way, after shu really rattles him and bests fine, eichi sits on the rooftop going over everything shu did in his head, deconstructing it, learning it. he can't mimic the process of shu's creativity (which is why he's jealous of him) but he can learn to execute the kind of routine shu can come up with. he talks about this with tori in dance time as well. eichi isn't "creative" but in terms of acquiring skills he's confident that anything he puts his mind to he can learn to do. he's always drawn toward people who can do what he can't do, like leo and his ability to compose music, but he can still learn to play leo's songs.
and that's where wataru's tricks become limitlessly fascinating to him. wataru isn’t just a genius, he's highly specialized in a way that completely fuses his genius with his execution. his tricks are unique, advanced, and mechanically complex. eichi frequently complains that no matter how much he thinks about it he can't figure out how wataru does his tricks. wataru's physical skills are also really difficult to replicate; even the twins who have been pulling off complex physical performances since they were children find it difficult to keep up with him. wataru is complex on every level: his execution is so flawless that it leaves even eichi, who is extremely attentive and scrutinous, and actively trying to figure out the mechanics, completely clueless as to how he pulls things off. second, his methods are very advanced and complex, so even if he were to explain it it may be too difficult to understand. third, the skills wataru has and makes use of to pull off the tricks are also very complex, difficult to understand, and difficult to replicate even by other geniuses and experts.
wataru's magic is something eichi would never be able to do. trying to make sense of how wataru does it is a fun but ultimately futile exercise, and this really frustrates him but also keeps him forever enchanted and intrigued. this is why when wataru tells him in diner live, it's not real magic, it's all sleight of hand, eichi says, well i have no idea how you do it, so to me it's the same as real magic. eichi isn't just a regular fan who can't figure out wataru's tricks; he's the kind of person who can normally figure out how anything works. imagine his shock the first time he saw wataru do magic as part of one of his shows broadcast to the TVs, when after rewinding it several times, looking up special effects, watching hours of magic how-to tutorials trying to figure out how the hell wataru did it or at least get a hint, he was still completely stumped. but that's the kind of person eichi is and the kind of effort he'd go through to make sense of it.
what balances out eichi's frustration with and jealousy of wataru is wataru's kindness. wataru is truly, to the bone, everything eichi idealizes in an entertainer. he has a loving heart and doesn't look down on his audience but wishes to please them. he smiles at eichi when eichi feels completely useless, and it's not a pitying smile but a genuine one. for all of his show offy antics, wataru is very much not all about himself. he's genuinely interested in and attentive to the happiness of his audience, and once eichi has his attention, he turns that impossible talent directly into making eichi smile. for all of his frustration and jealousy it's impossible for eichi not to love wataru, and his respect for wataru as an artist is unparalleled. eichi finds himself thoroughly enchanted by him because wataru has something so unique to offer the world both in terms of what he can do and the kind of person he is.
that's why wataru will never stop surprising him. that's why eichi will never get bored of him. wataru is everything eichi finds loveable in the world and he inspires eichi to think of others, like tori, who admire eichu for what he can do, and to hone in on his own uniqueness he has to offer to the world. even if it's "not real" like the geniuses he admires, it may still be magic to someone he loves and wants to inspire.

Hi uh I was just wondering, I saw your requests were open and that you’ve written stuff with the ignihyde boys. Can you maybe write them with a gn or male reader who’s an amputee? If not that’s ok :3 I love the stuff I’ve read so thanks in advance if you do write this :3
Hey! I’m super pumped to do this request because first of all, I love the Ignihyde duo and second of all disability and disability aids are absolutely fascinating so I did a lil research becausnejdhgjdjfskhfdjsk cool. Took me a while to figure out what to do though. Also I decided to make the amputation specific to the left arm and left leg for consistencies sake. Also sorry for the delay!!
Ignihyde with an amputee reader
Characters: Idia, Ortho, reader
CW// disability, discussions of prosthetics, amputation, and psychological fallout (implied)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- It would probably take a while before you and Idia become friends. You and Ortho, though? Right off the bat.
- Ortho will happily chatter to you about anything and everything, and often hovers nearby. If he spies you having a hard day with walking, he’ll grab a wheelchair and push you around for a bit while talking about the latest update to Minecraft
- Idia takes a little while longer to warm up (due to being Idia) but soon you’re trapped in Ignihyde playing games with him on the wii
- It’s a loooong while before disability comes up in conversation with him because he is the master of Not Bringing That Subject Up
- He understands the discomfort of being stared at for looking different and doesn’t want to make you feel that, especially since you’re friends
- He does bring it up though - it seems like your current prosthetic leg is beginning to fall apart and, yknow, he has a lot of experience building body parts.
- He ends up spending a lot of time figuring out a lightweight but balanced Material that would work ideally for a prosthetic. This leads from one thing to another and then you’re invited to Ignihyde to try some stuff out
- He hadn’t really concentrated on prosthetics before, surprisingly, since his main goal was making Ortho, but now he’s focusing on how to streamline complex movements, particularly using Electromyography [source] and complex AI that can help predict and measure movements via sensitive receptors under synthetic skin, specifically for disabled/amputee individuals
- This leads to him enlisting your help, since you sparked the interest, and he want to help you out. So: new free prosthetic limbs specifically tailored to you (although with Idia’s creative flair) purely because your friends are literal geniuses
- Other than that, Idia and Ortho are good company. They’re happy to take a slower, more chill pace. Idia enjoys hanging out, playing games of any kind. He’s also content to sit and watch b movies with you while eating popcorn or candy
- Ortho enjoys hanging out and doodling. He doesn’t often get into arts - lots of wet things he probably shouldn’t play with, or messes, etc - but he does enjoy drawing and is happy to sit with you and do so.
Tumblr media
Idia sits beside you, shoveling sour candy into his mouth by the fistful as he watches fnaf security breach play throughs next to you, mumbling about inaccuracies of robotic engineering in the character design and how buggy the stupid game is.
“Idia?”
“Hmm?” He finally turns his attention to you, blinking, “What’s up?”
You shift a little closer to him, resting on his shoulder. He tenses for a second, then settles back down. “bad day.”
He adjusts and quietly quits his game (there’s not a pause button, unfortunately) before turning more attention to you.
“Have some NPCs been bothering you? Or is it the debuff?”
“Debuff.” You said quietly, closing your eyes, “Psychological damage, down ten hp per second.”
“That’s not good.” Idia said, awkwardly patting your head, “Any boosts I can give you, or do you just need to wait out the effects?”
You hum slightly, “Wait it out. Can’t really help anything in my head, yknow?”
Ortho chirped slightly from the doorway, floating into the room. He then landed in front of you and crouched down, “Y/n? Would you like to play something?”
“Not right now, Ortho.” You said tiredly, “I’m kinda…sick at the moment.”
Ortho blinked before his yellow eyes emitted a soft light.
“Scanning for abnormalities in biological settings…” He stood up, staring down, “Scan complete. Neurological functionings indicate an uptick in adrenaline, cortisol, and norepinephrine, and a lack of dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. It appears you are going through psychological distress, or potentially depression.”
You nod slightly and Idia frowns from beside you, but says nothing.
“I’m not doing great right now, no. I just need a minute to chill. I’ll be alright.”
The brothers exchange a look before Ortho sits down beside you and Idia quietly turns on Animal Crossing: New Horizons to play. They both know it’s best to let you have a moment to collect yourself, that if you want to share it you will, and if not, then company is appreciated. Idia’s left side is trapped by you leaning on it, so he only plays with on hand (slowly) while Ortho, on your other side, quietly begins researching cool bugs.
It’s pleasant, actually. To not be coddled or pitied, and instead simply allowed space near people you care about. Idia doesn’t push - lord knows there’s things he’d rather not talk about - and Ortho simply adores you, so he’s content to sit beside you quietly.
After a while you sit back up, blinking sleepily. With a yawn and a stretch, Idia’s attention turns back to you.
“Tired?”
You nod slightly, humming under your breath.
“Yeah, I get that. Do you wanna lay in bed, or do you wanna go back to your place?”
“I can walk you back if that would help, Y/N L/N!” Ortho says, “But you’re invited to stay over as well.”
“Can I…stay?” You look between the two.
Idia grins, faux mischief, “Muah hah haha ha! You’ve fallen into my sinister trap - the bed! Now you will never escape the underworld! Ha ha ha ha ha!”
You laugh a little as Ortho helps you over to the bed. “Oh no, whatever will I do? You’re too OP for me!”
Idia grins stupidly and turns off some of the major lights, as well as turning down the brightness of his monitor.
You hum slightly and settle into Idia’s bed, asking, “Are you sure this is alright?”
“I rarely use it except to dramatically mope in, so you’re good.”
Idia smiles at you and gives you a nervous thumbs up before turning back to his silent gaming, allowing you to fall asleep to the sound of animal crossing background music playing faintly across the room and the hum of Ortho’s resting station.

Shan! One of the things that I’ve loved learning during my Old GMMTV Challenge project is discovering filmmakers and watching through their project lists. Do you follow specific directors or screenwriters for Asian dramas? If so, who are they, and why? And which dramas of their do you recommend?
A fun one, and an area where I know we actually differ in our approach. In short, my answer to your first question is yes, but also no. :)
By which I mean, I generally do pay attention to who creates the shows I watch, because when I am impressed or infuriated by a drama I like to know who is behind it so I can look into their other work, either to pursue or avoid it. Sometimes I have to go looking for that information, but there are some creators who have such an obvious style that it sets them apart and makes it near impossible to miss the connections between their shows (Kim Eun Sook in kdrama, Aof Noppharnach and Jojo Tichakorn in tbl, Hwang Da Seul in kbl, Lin Pei Yu in twbl, etc). With those I might start something unknowingly and then be like wait a minute is this X’s work? I do maintain awareness and keep creators’ other works in mind when I watch something new because it's fun to look for themes across a body of work, and frankly, to know where the pitfalls are likely to come in.
That said, I do not feel any need to be a completist about any one auteur's resume, I don’t intentionally sit down to watch a creator's work in an organized way, and I actually prefer not to know that much about their personal lives, because I like to focus on the fictional stories without too much real world gunk getting in the way and clouding my reads. I am a "let the art speak for itself" girlie; I'm less interested in authorial intent than in allowing stories breathing room to be interpreted by the audience. I do believe in the Death of the Author school of thought and I don't think it's great when creators try to do too much to control how their work is perceived. One of my current beefs with the Only Friends watch experience is that there is so much real world gunk (branded pairs, shipping and actor stanning, creators posting on social media with context that is not included in the actual canon) getting in the way and messing with interpretations of the show.
Once you get into a fandom at all you will inevitably be exposed to a ton of this kind of thing whether you like it or not. And it comes up a lot in bl because so many shows are adapted from pre-existing source material and rely on known actor pairs, which inevitably affects discourse because people come to these shows with a lot of baggage even before they begin. But I am always interested in story first. I dove into I Feel You Linger in the Air and Absolute Zero with zero hesitation because timey wimey soulmate shit is my jam, not because these shows were made by Tee Bundit and New Siwaj (in fact that would be more of a deterrent than anything if I let it dictate my viewing choices).
So while I am interested in the undercurrent of melancholy across Aof's works, and Jojo's devotion to messy ensemble pieces where everyone is a little bit of an asshole, and Kim Eun Sook's uncanny ability to tap into the zeitgeist and create banger after banger across a range of genres, I don't need to know too much about why their areas of focus are important to them or how it relates to their personal experiences. I prefer not to use fiction as a means to psychoanalyze the real people who create it; instead I just try to engage with and appreciate their art as art and afford them respect as creative geniuses without making assumptions about how each work is meant to reflect their real experiences. Understanding some basic demographics about creators (as in, do they have the appropriate lived experiences to be telling the stories they choose) is about as far as my curiosity goes.
Question 1 TL;DR: I do like to pay attention to who creates the shows I watch so that I can follow the themes in their work, but I am not interested in following the creators themselves closely.
Question 2: who are the creators I recommend following? I have mentioned a lot of them above, and my overall recommendation is that if you are invested in a show, you should look to see who writes and directs it, not just who stars in it. Actors are of course important but usually it's the creative team behind them that really makes or breaks a drama, because they are the ones ultimately in control of the story. Having that grounding can be really helpful for setting expectations and in interpreting and processing what you watch, and also just for helping you find more of the kind of thing you will probably like. I’m extremely glad, for instance, that I watched Gay OK Bangkok before Only Friends, because it gave me a framework for understanding the themes they were likely to dig into. I also just finished watching Rainless Love in a Godless Land, which I was interested in due in large part to it sharing the same screenwriter as my all time favorite Taiwanese drama, Someday or One Day, and being able to pull out the similar themes and ideas across the two projects made it all the more interesting for me.

> "most people who used to love lin in the past are his biggest haters now"
> "maybe pjo fandom is not as terrible as i thought"
two things! one: i actually did used to hate lin, but that was a short phase, and i realized i actually was upset at my younger self, and was just taking it out on people and things i associated with who i was at that time
two: that really made me think, so i have some comments actually! they’re not super insightful or conclusive, but: (if you don’t mind)
i think lin and rick riordan (the author of the pjo books) are actually pretty similar? they’re both goofy older dudes with usually much younger audiences (or at least that was true when i was a big-time hamilton fan, things might have changed), and they’re guys who have certainly made mistakes, but overall are good people (and incredible creative geniuses, but that’s a little more lin than rick tbh)
i definitely can be seriously critical of lin, i definitely think he’s corny as hell, and i definitely lightly make fun of him, but only to a point. if it starts looking a little too hostile, i remind everyone (and it’s almost always universally true) that all of us do actually love his work, and if any of us saw him in public we’d all want to ask for a photo and tell him how brilliant hamilton is, or how beautiful in the heights is, or several other wonderful things he’s done. we’re all very eager to see any creative work he’s involved in because we know it’s going to be awesome, so we really can’t complain about him that much
i am much more seriously critical of rick and things he has previously said than i am of lim (also, a lot of pjo fans call riordan "uncle rick", which is, let’s be honest, INCREDIBLY CORNY! like i do it sometimes but it’s GOOFY as HELL!)
i jokingly bully rick as well — i have sent messages about him that are like "dear lord i one day i am going to kick that old man’s ass", or more often just "RICHARD. COME ON." — but it also doesn’t get too mean. when i see comments that stray from genuine criticisms that also acknowledge he’s grown as a person or like a little friendly teasing of a guy we all admire and towards shitty comments about a stranger, i am always the first in line to defend that old man!
a while ago my older sister asked me why "gen z hates lin manuel miranda", and i explained that 1. he did some stuff that isn’t great but also really seems to have grown from that point (and also probably the smallest problem people have with him), 2. a lot of gen z went through hardcore hamilton phases and now resent their past selves (this is a major factor), and 3. being earnest is the internet’s biggest sin (the most likely culprit and also the saddest answer)
making fun of rick is very common in the pjo fandom, and at least some pjo fans bullying lin are doing it in the same way, so it’s supposed to be more "teenage cousins are gently ribbing that one goofy uncle" than actual hate? i know that there are a lot of people that are just genuinely being mean, but i hope you can find some solace that it isn’t quite as much as it looks like
okay this has been weird and maybe a little scattered, i’m blaming it on my adhd medication being way too low of a dosage lmao
but i’m sorry you & other lmm fans haters, (and i’m extra sorry because there’s a decent chance one of them was 15 year old me)
ok, wow. i don't even know how to answer that (anon, this is super long, WHY)...
so first of all, i am not a part of pjo fandom, this is important - i've said this before, i'm gonna say it again: i've never read the books, i started watching the show only because of lin, i know nothing about rick & all those inside jokes you guys have, but if making fun of him is normal in this fandom, that's totally fine. silly jokes & actual hate are not the same thing for me.
"they’re both goofy older dudes with usually much younger audiences" - that is not entirely true & it comes from someone in their late 20s (& i know a lot of people from this fandom who are waaaaay over 20). being goofy & corny, those are not real reasons to hate on somebody like that... actually, everything you said here, i already knew. people are ashamed of their hamilton phase - oh, we should definitely blame lin for that, he's literally the worst because he wrote a musical once & we were super cringe about it... did he make mistakes in the past? yes, we all do, nobody's perfect. i've heard about much more problematic celebrities & people don't even talk about them but for some reason they have to shit on lin all the fucking time. he's done more good than bad (i could write a super long essay for you but it's late & i don't even know why i'm writing all of this), that is the truth & this is where i stand.
now, we are not talking about "making fun of him", we are talking about actual hate, examples:
"lin-manuel miranda should die/we should kill him"
"i would also turn evil if lin was my father/i would kill myself if he was my father"
those are real comments i've seen about him & it all comes from pjo fandom. this is the reason why i said this fandom is terrible. like, are you guys aware that he actually has kids? go outside, touch some grass & leave him alone (i'm not talking about you anon, you're ok, i'm talking about real haters).

Fourth World Character Foils: Metron & Himon
Tumblr media
[Image ID: Comic panel from Mister Miracle depicting the arms of Himon and Metron and they greet each other in a handshake. Metron from above, and Himon from below. In the background there are yellow, black, red and white energy bursts. Metron says, "The wonders I build are born in your brain! The roads that I travel are opened by your massive perceptions!" To which Himon says, "Alas! The heart and brain of the visionary are eternally grounded here! I fostered Darkseid's power! I must be here - at its end!" /END ID]
--
We're smack dab in the middle of week 2 of New Gods November, so here's a bit of meta for the "character foils" prompt!
Wikipedia says a character foil is "a character who contrasts with another character". Pretty simple, eh? There are some obvious foils in the New Gods saga: Highfather and Darkseid, Scott and Orion, even New Genesis and Apokolips. With a story so heavily centered around the theme of good vs evil, it's fairly clear how many of the characters contrast with others. I probably could've written paragraphs upon paragraphs about any of them! But the thing that's interesting to me about character foils is how they are thematically or narratively inextricably linked to one another, especially when they aren't so black and white.
That's where Metron and Himon come in.
For those of you who aren't as familiar with these less well-known Fourth World characters, Metron (who I've posted about at length, see my #metronmeta tag) is a scientist and dimensional time traveler who is heavily invested in the universe's inner workings. Himon is a genius-level inventor who has made it his life's goal to thwart Darkseid's evil rule by leading a resistance against him. Sure they're both highly intelligent and have made some noteworthy inventions, but when you look at the details side-by-side it starts to paint a picture. So, let's do just that!
Appearance
Though both Metron and Himon are older, perhaps the same generation as Highfather, they have vastly different appearances, which lend directly to their characterizations.
Metron: Thin, with a wiry musculature. His clothing is tight fitting, even around his head. The pattern on his chest is meant to be computerized components. He rarely smiles.
Himon: Fuller bodied with a gently, approachable air. He wears loose fitting clothes that are warm in color. His hair is shaggy. He is often seen smiling.
Personality
This is the area where the two are clearly opposites. Though they're both clever and resourceful, that's where the similarities end. Perhaps the only other commonality here is that they have a mutual respect for each other.
Metron: Cold and analytical, yet spirited. He is independent and very self-focused, and his actions are almost always driven by his own personal desires rather than any consideration for those around him. He likes to stay seated on the Mobius chair, at times floating nearby watching, and at other times meddling.
Himon: Lively and active, and encouraging of others. He works to foster creativity and individuality of those he takes in, and teaches them to think for themselves rather than manipulating them. He values family and the beauty of life.
Inventions
As both are geniuses and inventors of technology that has forever changed the face of the universe, there are a lot of parallels in this area. However, what makes things interesting isn't necessarily what they created, but everything else surrounding said inventions.
Metron: A scientist who has notably created the Mobius chair that can travel time and space, as well as Boom Tubes, wormhole-like portals that allow anyone to travel directly to any location. When he created the forerunner to the Boom Tube, he gave Darkseid's army the unforseen ability to attack New Genesis. This had no moral impact on Metron since it meant he would be that much closer to unlocking the Source's mysteries for himself.
Himon: A visionary who discovered the X-element which Metron used in his inventions. Himon's most influential invention is the Mother Box, which are mechanisms that are connected to the Source and are considered living things. He respects the Source and channels it to do good, but never fixates on controlling it. Because Darkseid had made use of his theories and inventions, Himon vowed to do whatever he could to dismantle Darkseid's rule.
Location
By this time you can see a pattern emerging. Metron has a lot of negative traits, and Himon has a lot of positive ones. They are two very different sides of the same coin. So isn't it interesting where they reside? They are almost like the dots in the yin and yang symbolism, surrounded by contrasting environment.
Metron: Lives on New Genesis with the other New Gods. Is in easy enough contact with Highfather, and is introduced with the story's "good guys".
Himon: Lives on Apokolips in the slums where serves as a beacon of hope in the otherwise abysmal place.
Mentorship
Last is a pretty straightforward one. As intellectuals, it makes sense that these two have taken on mentees. But the relationships were not at all similar, except for the tragic ends that some of the younger characters met.
Metron: Took the child, Esak, along to study primitive creatures, showing him the universe outside of time and space. But later in the graphic novel's conclusion to the New Gods story, Metron has abandoned Esak, and Esak becomes bitter and ends up on Apokolips working for Darkseid. Separate from this, Metron does help Scott escape from Apokolips, but it's unclear if his motives were to help ensure destiny, or if it was done as a curiosity about what would happen. Perhaps a bit of both.
Himon: Mentored many on Apokolips, including the dregs of society and children suffering through life under Darkseid's rule, though some like Kreetin would sell him out in an instant. Himon truly cares for all he helps, and later he has a daughter who he loves. As for Scott's escape, he becomes a guiding force for free thinking, encouraging Scott to expand his mind.
--
There's so much more I could say about all of these themes. I feel like I barely scratched the surface, and certainly could have written this up more eloquently. Metron is not an evil character just because Himon is so good. As Metron says, he serves life in his own way. The technology he creates is powerful and it benefits everyone, and he has been shown to appreciate the Source and the universe's inhabitants. But there really is so much to think about when you contrast these two against each other. Even for characters who are only in a handful of pages. Just look at the panel at the top of this post! Metron, floating loftily in his grand Mobius chair that lets him travel anywhere and anywhen, reaching down to shake hands with Himon, who chooses to remain grounded and in hiding on a terrible planet amongst the lowlies. Metron without a care in the world except whatever suits him, and Himon who dedicates his life to standing against evil.
Okay, this is going to devolve into unedited rambling if I keep going, so I'll end it here. I hope that this look into these two characters sparked some interest in anyone who took the time to read, and I encourage you to check out both New Gods (1971) and Mister Miracle (1971) to see Metron and Himon in action!

A year or two ago there was a post asking for Sokkla headcanons going around, and so I'm finally making a master post of my own Sokkla Headcanons, divorced from the older post.
Azula pretends to hate the cold but being a prodigious Firebender she can lower and raise her body temperature to compensate. Sokka discovers this their first night in the South Pole as she becomes his personal space heater by accident and she strangely doesn’t mind as it means more cuddles.
This also works with keeping bathwater warm longer. Sokka frequently loses track of time when they bathe together as she keeps the water just as warm as it was in the beginning.
Sokka and Azula both being strategic and tactical geniuses, frequently play Pai Sho together. And are at such a level that Uncle Iroh is often left in awe when he watches them play. Anytime he’s challenged one of them he’s swiftly defeated and despite the loss, he’s ecstatic. Most Pai Sho players utilize a basic strategy(such as The White Lotus Gambit for the OWL members) but Sokka and Azula realize the weakness in that and rarely use the same strategy twice.
After the war, Sokka went back to Piandao and trained for several more months, and then trained with Mai to get better with throwing weapons, and then Ty Lee on how to Chi Block and to become more agile. This leaves him a very dangerous and skilled nonbender and he and Azula spar together several times a week. The Royal Guard and even Zuko watch on in awe.
Azula had never had a reason to use weapons as she was always strong with her bending unlike Zuzu, but since dating Sokka she took an interest in it, and she’s a warrior through and through. Sokka is amazed at how quickly she picks it up.
Azula is incredibly proud of Sokka’s creativity and inventions and often helps give him ideas, oftentimes not even meaning too. She also helps him name his inventions as she finds his naming scheme awful.
This one can be a before they started dating/helped them grow closer, but as they both serve as Zuko’s Chief Advisors, they come up with groundbreaking ideas together and often improve the other's ideas with something the other hadn’t even thought of. This has led to some amazing policy and change in the Fire Nation and has helped immensely with their Foreign relations.
Azula will never openly admit it but she loves food almost as much as Sokka and has introduced him to some of the Fire Nations' most delicious dishes that he hadn’t tried.
Azula is awful at doing her hair herself, so Sokka does it for her and gets her to experiment with other styles(keeping her trademark bangs ofc) and she is surprised about it. When she asks him why he's so good at it he tells her about how after their mother was killed someone had to help Katara with her hair.
This one is more Canon than HC, but I largely disregard the comics. But Azula loves her Mochi. Anytime she's feeling down Sokka gets the Palace kitchen to make her some and he gets her an assortment of Mochi for her birthdays.
One of the things Azula started doing after being released from the Mental Institute is painting. It's a form of therapy and helps her a lot. She was never allowed to have hobbies under Ozai and is finally free to explore herself. When she learns that Sokka also paints she's surprised. When she sees some of his works, including a giant painting that takes up almost a whole wall, of the Moon reflecting off a body of water(the giant wall painting is from @madamezuki Blood & Fire but it's so good I like it as well and just integrated it into my HC's and scenarios). His work leaves her speechless and she's surprised he's so skilled. They spend time in the palace gardens painting together.
Azula and Sokka being the extremely intelligent individuals they both are, love reading. History, arts, sciences. It doesn't matter. They spend a ton of time together in the libraries in either palace or his loft library in his penthouse reading together.

I have now watched all three seasons of Hannibal and come to the conclusion that it is a very creative, well-made, well-acted show that just wasn't for me. Like I completely see why Tumblr was all over the show, you've got a deeply homoerotic relationship between an older, brilliant, sophisticated manipulative man (who just happens to kill and eat people), and a younger sopping wet kitten of a man who who is both mentally and physically unwell (for all those whump fans out there) and is awkward and loves dogs. It's practically a manga despite being a live-action American show. Plus all the blood and stabbing and betrayal, that's fun!
But it just didn't grab me, and I mostly finished it out of a combination of curiosity and routine and being a completionist. I think it's partially that I don't really like Hannibal as a character. Not just because he kills and eats people (I can totally appreciate a murderous character), but because I sometimes get annoyed with the impossibly brilliant, sophisticated character who knows everything and is good at everything. Because even extremely smart people have to take some time and effort to gain expertise or develop skills. So when does Hannibal find time to sleep while he's making beautiful sketches, playing the piano perfectly, learning everything there is to know about Italian language, history and culture, working as a practicing psychiatrist, cooking gourmet meals (of human meat), going to concerts, throwing dinner parties, charming and manipulating a few of his victims into extreme loyalty, and also killing people, disposing of whatever body parts he doesn't eat, and sometimes staging elaborate crime scenes that would require a crane and probably a crew of at least four people helping. I know it's not meant to be realistic, but after a certain point it crosses the line into silly for me. To be fair, it's not just Hannibal, I have issues with the brilliant "always five steps ahead" villain when their plan involves shit they couldn't have possibly known or planned for. Or the super-hero geniuses that are experts in every field rather than actually having some specialization. Do NOT give your 30-something year old character six PhDs, that shit takes time no matter how smart they are.
Despite that, even I loved the ending. Our two homoerotic "friends" team up to take out a serial killer and then collapse into each other's arms covered in both his blood and their own, and Hannibal says "This is what I always wanted for us," and then they fall into the sea together? Yes, perfect. Also, thank you, show, for not killing my precious Scott Thompson. I figured he was safe because as a lab tech he was never going into the actual dangerous scenarios, but you never know.
Can't say I regret watching the series, either. At least now I know what all the fuss was about.

Daily life of Bakugo & S/O
Character: Bakugo Katsuki x G/N Reader Genre: Fluff Word Count: 408
It was a warm day in the city, and Bakugo was feeling restless. As a pro hero, he had just finished a long day of hero work and was in need of a release. He was about to go for a run when his phone rang. It was his significant other, who he affectionately referred to as his "better half."
"Hey, baby. What's up?" Bakugo answered, his tone softened as soon as he heard their voice.
"Just wanted to check in and see how your day went. Do you want to meet up later?" they asked.
"Yeah, I could use a break. How about we meet at that new park near our place?" Bakugo suggested.
A few hours later, Bakugo arrived at the park, and his significant other was waiting for him on a bench. They stood up to greet him, and Bakugo couldn't help but smile at the sight of them. They had always had a calming effect on him, and he was grateful to have them in his life.
As they walked around the park, Bakugo talked about his day and the challenges he faced as a hero. His significant other listened intently, offering support and encouragement along the way. It was moments like these that reminded Bakugo how lucky he was to have found someone who understood and loved him for who he was.
They eventually found a quiet spot near a pond, and Bakugo decided to test out his new quirk on the water. His significant other watched in amazement as Bakugo created explosive waves, sending ripples across the pond. When he was done, he turned to his significant other, who was beaming with pride.
"You never cease to amaze me, Bakugo. You're amazing as a hero and an even better partner," they said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Bakugo felt his heart swell with love and affection. He wrapped his arms around his significant other, grateful for their love and support.

ChatGPT wrote this - as an amateur writer and a fan of many amazing fanfics (crafted by geniuses), i wanted to experiment and see how fanfics are like written by AI. Creativity can never be replaced by AI and while ChatGPT was able to write a pretty well crafted fanfic, it was nothing compared to the talented writers here. It was still really interesting to see how it can easily pass as something i would write when i was trying out writing fanfic years ago (perhaps it's time for me to start resuming with my writing 🥲)
*purely for fun and nothing else* ENJOYY!

I don’t even know if you answer asks on here, it would make perfect sense if you didn’t but I just wanted to say: Station Eleven, the show and the book, changed my whole outlook on writing and storytelling. I knew it would resonate with me just based on the premise alone as a creative-type person who really started taking myself seriously as a writer/artist during a pandemic, but I really had no idea what I was actually in for. Every time I find something else hidden away I didn’t see before. The music especially is what really kept me drawn into that world, I love the folk songs, the creepy themes and the soaring soundtracks. So appropriate for a story so expansive yet so tightly knit. I’d love to experience that twist again. I feel like a better writer, and a better listener for watching Station Eleven. I’m so glad you got to show people that story.
I had no idea what I was in for either. The music especially for me, too— not just because of the friendship Dan and I formed as we did it, but how it let me awkwardly stumble a little more into a space I wanted to be in but had always been too shy/worried/embarrassed about to self-identify as a musician like I did a writer.
It always feels really validating and real when someone writes a note like this. The whole thing felt impossible 100% of the way through and like it was all gonna fall apart in my hands, but it just never did, thanks to like 100 geniuses who were all working together so hard.
Appreciate this ❤️🙏

Hi, I'm back with another essay 😂
I've had a busy week at work and I thank the heavens it is Friday because I need to just sit and stare at a wall for a while and decompress 😂 Also, my week's been fully thrown off since Monday as I did not sleep at all that night so I've been all over the place. HOWEVER, it's been a fairly alright week!
I thought I'd send in an ask to mainly talk video games because Dragon Age, ME AND Baldur's Gate? Especially ME?! I don't get to talk about ME enough!
Okay, so I have to admit that for most of the game, my party was Shadowheart, Karlach and the gith chick, Lae'zel, that you don't like 😂 And I have to admit that at first I was on the fence about her, but she quickly grew on me and even more so as the story progressed. Larian Studios gave each of their characters a great background and amazing personalities. And majority of them have great character progression as the game progresses, imo! (there's some things that happen in that game that I cannot comment about yet, but honestly, Larian Studios are creative geniuses lol)
In regards to Lae'zel, I will definitely want to hear more of your thoughts as you progress through the game!
Also, I cackled at the fact you restarted the game because you found out you missed Gale! 😂 I have to admit though - I would absolutely do the same! Let me know what you decide on him, because I went through the whole game and my opinion about him didn't change 😂
How are you finding the game so far? What do you think of the story and the characters you encountered? Both, the characters you can have in your party and NPC's? Have you tried to speak with any animals yet? 😂
Coming up to Dragon Age and Mass Effect… It's been years since I touched a Dragon Age game, but I remember the first and second games fondly. But Mass Effect… Oh boy, haha. I played the games… I don't even know how many times. ME2 still to this day holds a special part in my heart so when they announced an ME Legendary Edition with all three games reworked, all shiny and pretty?? You bet I got them and played through all three games :D And it felt like playing them for the first time again. Also, Garrus? Yes, please!
Have to admit, I was disappointed at the ending on ME3, both because of the ending they gave Commander Shepard and also because the ending that they originally came out with was… a flop and unsatisfying, though they gave longer endings after a patch because of fan disappointment. And I will forever think that the "secret ending" of Commander Shepard's N7 logo in those ruins actually means they aren't dead (there should also be a new ME game???! And they showed Liara in the trailer??!).
The universe that ME has, with the story and characters is just absolutely mind blowing and those games are beautiful ❤ And personally, I look for games that have a rich and deep story so the fact that we are talking about DA, ME and Baldur's Gate right now? My heart is singing and I am just all warm and happy haha
Another one of my favourites is Witcher 3. AND it was a fave before Henry Cavill became a live action Geralt 😂 I spent a lot of hours on that game... One could even say too many, but if anyone does - they're wrong 😂
But of course, I have to take a moment and scream about "Violent Delights", because excuse me? Where has Enishi Yukishiro been and why have I not seen him?? 👀 I know what I'm watching over the weekend lol I need to find time to go through your whole master list because your writing is like nourishment and it does unexplainable things to me!
And that sneak peek for chapter 7..? Oh fuck. These two petty fools will be the end of me 😂
On a personal note, thank you for your kind words in your reply. I appreciate you for taking the time to reply and share your lovely words with me because they mean a lot ❤
I hope your week has been great, Jenn! And I hope you will have a lovely, restful weekend! Sending you lots of virtual hugs! ❤
Okay so I KNOW you just sent me a brand new ask but I need to answer this one first! I am so sorry it took me so long to reply 😩
How have your weeks been going? It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with one another! I sincerely hope that no technology has been acting up and that your days have been peaceful and content 🖤
DID YOU BY CHANCE WATCH RUROUNI KENSHIN: THE FINAL WITH ENISHI YUKISHIRO?!!??? I legit wrote that thinking it would get him out of my system but it actually did not lol and I’m already just planning on continuing it but it’s just going to be filth. Pure smutty filth and I refuse to apologize 🤣🤣
Right now Karlach is still currently my fav! Her character is just so FUN. She has such a good attitude, and she is definitely the type of person I would want in a real-life crew. I’m torn on the love interest part of it because like…so far I like none of them lol. Astarion is in the lead, but barely, just because he’s a vampire and I’m a whore for love bites 😈 lol but I have noticed that he does have these soft moments through the indifference he conveys. He’s just different from who I usually pick in games. Although, in Cyberpunk I picked Judy but if I could’ve picked Johnny (absolutely LOVE Keanu) I would’ve lol. I love broody men.
I agree with you on ME3!! I’m so glad they went back and added more to it. I think it allowed a lot of us to get the closer we needed when it came to our Commander Shepherds. And yeah, if you chose the destroy option, they hinted that he/she was still alive, but I could never choose that one. I’m such a paragon lol I wanted everyone to get along and if my character had to sacrifice herself to do it, I did it every time (I can’t do that to Eve) 😩😩 except the one time to see if the destroy ending was worth it. I won’t hold my breath about the new DA and ME trailers they showcased a couple years ago, because Andromeda was not a fav lol. I think trying to bring in a new character to take over for shepherd is going to be incredibly hard, but I am interested to see if the continue with the storyline of inquisition for DA!
Baldur’s Gate 3 is just such a breathe of fresh air because I’m such a whore for a good storyline. I LOVE them. It makes it so much more immersive and makes you care about the outcomes of those in your party and your character. Witcher 3 was sooooo good at that too!
I’m still waiting to replay Cyberpunk 2077 from the beginning because of the Sons of Liberty DLC. I’ve heard amazing things about it, and I’m hyped but I got 2 weeks left of Uni work and then I graduate and I’m DONE! I’m so ready lol 🤣🤣
Thank you for always being such an absolute joy to talk to and for the essays lol. For being one of the sweetest humans alive. I hope your weekend is treating you well 🖤🖤 much love

This is interesting. Especially the part about creative oversight. Like apparently Marvel is not about the mad geniuses either
Not sure it's about mad artists, but more likely making sure the VFX teams have more time.
And the streamlining is necessary, tbh. Analyzing whether something should go directly to streaming was one of the biggest issues for Disney as a whole over the past couple of years, so fewer releases, more balance between theatrical/streaming, means they're more likely to make better decisions - and not have Chapek & Kareem Daniel making weird calls about what goes where.
ETA: There also could be reconsideration about the length of series - maybe fewer of them, but more than 6 episodes each. Maybe 8-12? Worked for Mando & Andor. Would have helped some of the less watched ones over the past two years, I think.
The original Deadline article is here: https://deadline.com/2022/11/disney-bob-iger-bob-chapek-dmed-bamtech-1235184428/

I finished watching "Heat" literally one day before it went live that Michael Mann crossed picket lines to work on a project without WGA writers.
Wasted my praises on a man who doesn't care about the rights of workers. 👎
Creative geniuses are assholes, too (but not all, am aware)
