if you are one of those people who argues with people when they try to compliment you, i want you to know that i see you. i've absolutely been there, and i understand where you're coming from. but i need you to understand that you are doing them a disservice. complimenting you, taking care of you, and loving you is not a burden. it is a joy. do not steal their joy. i understand that you do not believe them, and you feel like you don't deserve these things. but i do believe you will someday. with time, it will be easier to be gentle to yourself. in the meantime, let people love you. to refuse them when they try is to deprive them of a blessing.
