Just watched the Spanish 1931 Dracula this morning and it really did hold up a lot better than the English version?
I don’t know that you could call either one “better”, but I think it was just a lot more cinematic than the English version is theatrical. Like the characters spend so much time in English one monologuing about scenes we don’t see, from head-on camera angles. But the Spanish one just had more scenes with more set changes and camera work. Just kinda interesting how that made it more compelling where the English one really drags on despite being 20 minutes shorter lol

Taste. (Ghost x Reader.)
!CW! NSFW, Smut, Sex pollen, rough sex, unprotected p in v sex, Ghost manhandling you, (sorry if I missed any)
This was a request!
Tumblr media
You’re listening to what your Captain is saying but your nerves are shot, you don’t get along too well with Ghost.
Not for any particular reason, aside from him being a stern man. He intimidates you and the idea of going on a smaller mission, completely alone with him. It’s scary. You’ve never been alone with him before, especially not working together. You’ve heard stories of him getting angry and yelling. You’ve seen him in battle before, how violent he is. It’s nerve racking.
But unfortunately, these are your orders. These are what instructions your Captain has given you, you have no other choice.
Loading everything up into the Humvee was stressful, making sure everything was there, that you hadn’t missed anything. The massive man checking over you to make sure you’d gotten everything. You weren’t excited for the ride to the compound. It was a small underground building not to far off from your base, which is why it needed to be looked over. Laswell said it didn’t seem like there was any movement. The ground around the building seemed undisturbed, like it had been empty for some time. The ride was quiet, the only sound you heard was the rattling of items inside the vehicle and the Humvee itself. Ghost insisted on driving, which you didn’t mind. You stopped a ways away from the building to scope it out. Setting up snipers and watching the building for some time.
It’s quiet. No movement, no vehicles. Nothing. Ghost explains that he wants to watch it for a while. See if anyone comes and goes.
To his surprise, no one ever does.
“Let’s move in. Looks clear.” He demands. You nod your head, he drives the Humvee all the way up to the front of the entrance, only a small dome pokes out of the ground. You get out of the Humvee, walking beside Ghost into the building. He pushes the door open, the both of you stepping into the large doorway. Unfortunately, neither of you noticed the pressure plates under your feet. As soon as your feet touch them, small holes open up on the door frame, exposing a hole. Darts come shooting out of the holes, hitting ghost in the shoulder, missing you by a few centimeters. He’s worried they’re tranquilizer darts, ripping it out of his shoulder in a panic. “Fuck-“ he gasps, stepping forward into the building. He needed to clear it out quickly. He rushes through the building, you following along with him. Once the building is clear, he feels better.
“What do you think that was?” You ask him. He shrugs, pushing passed you. The building is some kind of lab. A large vat of iridescent orange liquid sat in the center of the circular room. Ghost walks toward the door, leaning back. He steps on the pressure plate, another dart shooting out and sticking into the wall on the other side. He pulls it out, seeing the same orange liquid inside of it. “I don’t know what it is.”
“They’ve got to have some kind of information. Specimen information.” You set your gun down, looking through the paperwork on the table. When you don’t find anything there, you click into a computer. Luckily there’s no barrier and you’re in right away.
What you read, it’s pure filth. Going in depth about the mysterious liquid and what it’s meaning was for.
Breeding purposes for an army.
A sigh leaves your lips. “What?” He asks. “You might want to see this LT.” You breathe. Ghost makes his way over to you, eyes scanning across the screen. He scoffs. “Suppose that’s one way to get more members for a squad.” He sighs. He leans over you, muscles flexing as he rests his hands on the table. “Found the effects of the liquid.” He sighs.
- if a subject comes in contact with Specimen 0, arousal sets in after around 15 minutes. Body weight and volume of fluids injected may vary in timing. Symptoms may include
-Increased sex drive
-Increased desire for sex
-Unbearable arousal without sexual stimulation
-Heightened sexual senses
Subjects are at extreme risk of a heart attack without sexual stimulation.
Out of 147 subjects, 107 suffered heart attacks. 67 of which died. The remaining subjects that did not suffer heart attacks were stimulated sexually and used for reproductive reasoning. Specimen seems to affect women more than men.
You’re reading the page out loud. Heart starting to race from nervousness as you read the screen.
“That means.. 100% of the people that didn’t have some kind of relief had a heart attack, only a few survived.” You sigh. Ghost chews at his lip nervously behind his mask. This means one thing and one thing only. “Maybe it’s too old. Maybe the effects of it have been diluted.” He shrugs. “Maybe. So.. we wait. I’ll search for an antidote.” You look through the computer and the stack of papers for more.
As you both settle in, sitting down. You’re waiting patiently. You can’t seem to find any kind of antidote.
Ghost leans forward, it’s been about forty-five minutes. He’s shed a lot of his equipment, just wearing a shirt and pants with a belt holding his gun. He rests his elbows onto his knees, groaning out. You turn to look at him. “You okay?”
You turn toward him. “M’fine. Just hot.” You nod your head.
His eyes rake over your body from behind, desperate to touch you. His eyes are blurring, heart is thumping rapidly in his chest. If he doesn’t get relief soon, he’s fucked. “Fuck- Y/N.” He breathes. “My heart feels like it’s about to beat out of my chest.” He breathes. “You may have to leave me here alone so I can.. fix this.” He breathes. His eyes are on yours, he wants to devour you. You look up at him, catching his attention. When you make eye contact, it lights a fire inside of him. “Y/N.. you need to go.” His voice is deep and demanding. “No, not until you’re okay.”
“I can’t trust myself not to- not around you. Go-“ he growls. He grasps the hem of his mask, tugging it off. “No.” You plant your feet on the ground, his eyes are dark, pupils blown wide from desire. The primal need pumping through his veins is unbearable. He’s going to pounce you any minute. For your own safety, he needed you to go. He closes his eyes tightly, cock impossibly hard in his pants. “Y/N.. if you don’t go.” He groans out, hands clutching at the chair he’s in, the muscles in his arms clenching up. “I can’t promise I won’t hold you down and fuck you until you cry.” He seethes, muscles in his neck flexing and tensing up. The little vial of orange liquid sits next to you. You’re probably crazy for it. You’re eyeing it and he doesn’t understand what’s going through your mind. You pick up the vial, hearing him grunt in what sounds like the worst pain he’s ever gone through. You stab the vial into your thigh, his eyes widening as he watches the iridescent liquid seep into your bloodstream.
“What are you- doing?”
“Figure we can suffer together.” You pull your gear off, tugging your shirt of your head, skin already starting to feel hot. It did say it affects women more than men.
Ghost stands up from the chair he’s in, closing the distance between the both of you in just a few strides of his long legs. His hands glide along your hips, shoving you back into the desk. It’s all over.
He’s biting your neck, feeling your jugular vein pulsing as he glides his tongue over it. He pushes his nose into you, inhaling your scent. Arousal pools between your legs, you need him. “If I hurt you.. just know it’s not me.” He breathes. “I trust you to hurt me, Simon.” You pant. A deep guttural growl rumbles from him. He grasps the button on your pants, unbuttoning it and shoving them down your legs. Your panties slide with them and he swears he can smell you.
Heightened sexual senses.
His hands explore your exposed body, gliding down your sides before resting onto your hips. “Can fucking smell how wet you are.”
“Simon!“ you mewl, tilting your head back. “Want you-“ you gasp. “So fucking horny..” he grits his teeth, fingers gliding along your opening. Another mewl leaves your lips and he draws his hand back from you, your wetness coats his hands. When he spreads them apart, strings of your arousal part between his fingers. He slides them into his mouth, moaning at the taste of you. He returns his hand back to you, soaked with his saliva. He’s rubbing circles over your soaked opening and your legs are weakening, ready to buckle underneath you at his touch. He circles your clit with one hand, his other reaching for his waistband.
You’re ready to drool at the sight of him, you swear he’s teasing you by how slow he’s moving to unbutton his pants. He exposes his waistline and he admires the way you’re watching him so closely, desperate to see every single part of him. His heart is pounding in his chest, he needs your pussy, soon. He pushes his pants down his legs, grasping your thighs and lifting you up. He pushes you up against a wall, hiking your legs up higher on his waist. The tip of his cock nudges against your pussy and he doesn’t have to steady himself, your pussy swallows him right up. “Oh fuck-“ he gasps, resting his forehead against yours as he starts fucking himself into you. “Fuck.. always knew you’d get me in trouble.” He growls. “Walking around base, as sexy as you are. Can barely keep my fucking eyes off of you.” He grits his teeth, hammering his hips into yours. He’s fucking you as hard as he can.
You can’t form sentences, can’t even think straight as he plows into you. You’re clawing at his arms and back. “You looked at me before this?” You whimper. “Course I fucking did.” He moves his forehead from yours, lips right up against your ear. “You avoid my eyes because I intimidate you. Don’t you?” You nod your head. “Nothing to be intimidated by. But I like your little game, like a bunny and a wolf hm?” He smirks into you, your body still jolting up with every hard thrust he takes. You moan out, nearly crying on his cock. Just like he said you’d be. “You like that Bunny? So intimidated by me but so willing to take my cock.” He chuckles. “Good fucking girl- I’ll play your games.” His chuckle is deep and taunting. He pinches your nipple with one of his hands, a cry leaving your lips. He pushes you up further against the wall, arms resting at the bend of your knees. He’s pinning them to your front. Your arousal is soaking him, surely going to leave a mess on him. The thatch of hair at the base of his cock is sticky from you, pushing up against your clit, stimulating you with every sharp thrust he takes into you. You’re getting close already. “You can cum, Bunny. Feel how tight you are.” He smirks. “Not yet, not until you do.” You pant. You’re about to give him a taste of his own medicine.
“Do you like my pussy, Ghost?” The use of his nickname sends him reeling. “Fuck yes-“ he growls. “When you were eyeing me, I didn’t think it was because you wanted my pussy.” You smirk. It fades quickly as he pushes you close to your high with his cock. He attacks your neck with his teeth again, “can’t help myself.” He growls. Returning to mark you as his own. “So. Fucking. Tight.” He growls between thrusts. You can’t hang on any longer, he’s too much. One more nudge of the tip of his cock into your spongy spot sends you spiraling. “Fuck Simon!” You soak him with your orgasm, tilting your head back and grasping at him to hold onto him, squeezing him as he fucks you through your orgasm. He’s trying to keep himself together, knees ready to buckle with how hard he’s going to cum. He pulls you away from the wall, laying you down onto the cold, hard ground. Hammering his hips into yours. He’s desperate. You’re overstimulated, tears slipping from your eyes as he abuses your hole. “Fuck- I’m gonna cum-“ he growls, holding your hips tight against the ground. His hips are moving sloppily, he’s right on the edge. He pants hard as he chases after his high. With a groan, he reaches his peak. Filling you up with his cum before his hips come to a halt. He’s breathing heavily as he feels himself pulsing against your walls, feeling you clench down onto him. You’re throbbing around him, and he can’t help himself as he rocks his hips into yours one last time.
A gasp leaves your lips and you squirm away from him, hearing him laugh through harsh pants. “Fuck..” he breathes.
He slides out of you, watching his spunk spill back out of your hole.
He helps you up, blood still pumping the mysterious iridescent liquid through him. His cock is still hard, refusing to relax any time soon. His heart doesn’t feel like it’s about to beat out of his chest. “Im sorry if I was too rough on you.” He breathes. “I couldn’t control myself, I tried to warn you.” He sighs, looking down. You spin around, bottom half still exposed. He eyes the way his filth drips down your thighs. Reaching down to palm himself through his pants. “Maybe I didn’t want you to control yourself.” You smile. “You’re fucking crazy. Injecting yourself with that.” He chuckles. Avoiding your gaze. He didn’t understand, he didn’t get like this. He didn’t feel embarrassment. “Figured I’d be able to keep up with you better.” You smile. “Did it work?” He asks.
“Yeah I’d say so. Although I’m not sure I’m entirely satisfied.” You chew on your lip nervously. Playing with the hem of your shirt. His blood starts pumping through his veins again, the smell of your arousal filling the room. He needs you. Again.
“Still have another couple hours before we’re expected back.” He breathes.
It only takes another couple seconds before his lips are on yours again, cock seeping into your abused hole for relief once more.

I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted.
This is my first Stray Kids reaction, so I hope you enjoy.
As always, please feel free to request!

Tumblr media
Bang Chan 방찬
Why do you think he works so hard? You were breathing over his shoulder for most of his childhood, so how else was he supposed to turn out?
If he slacked off, you would always be there to give him a glare or a scolding.
You never beat him or anything like that, but have you seen Chan when he’s mad? He just gets all quiet and scowly and you can see that the other members are nervous when it happens.
You can say that it’s a family trait, the scariness.
Sure, you let up some once he moved out of the house and to Korea, but you would call him sometimes to ask how he was doing and eventually the conversations would naturally transition into him talking about just how much work and practice he has been doing.
He kind of lives for your praise as a side effect.
Some may see your relationship as kind of strained, but you really do love each other, you just show it in different ways.
And you understand one another.
Tumblr media
Minho 이민호
It's where he gets his brattiness from. The tissue in the mouth thing was your idea too.
Even though you were strict, you let him act like a child around you. Result: brattiness.
Sure, you may have high expectations and expect him to follow them, but he’s got you wrapped around his finger.
As long as he acts right around you, you just shower him with affection. The affection may be kind of skewed, just like Minho’s is. You have to admit, it’s kind of violent. But, you both understand that you love each other.
You are siblings, and nothing is going to change that.
Tumblr media
Changbin 서창빈
You honestly scare this man. There’s a reason he isn’t as scared of Minho and Bangchan as the rest of them are.
He grew up with you.
When you wanted something done, you wanted it done right then, and that was final.
He’s tried to tell you ‘no’ before and that did not end well. You were having none of it.
Again, it’s not like you beat him or anything, but there was something about you that demanded respect.
Did you notice how in the beginning, he tried to hide his cute side? That may have been because of you, because aegyo didn’t work with you.
He was not getting anything because he was just being cute.
He was eventually able to open up with the boys, but everything stayed the same with you.
Yes, you loved him, but you just showed it a bit…differently than some other might have.
You still terrify him though.
Tumblr media
Hyunjin 황현진
He was all scared sass, if that makes any sense. You were able to tolerate his attitude up to a certain extent, and he kind of had a hard time guessing when it was.
He learned the sass from the best, which was you. But, you didn’t like it so much when it was directed at you.
Call it your toxic trait.
Out of all the pairings in this group, you two had the most “traditional” sibling relationship.
That was mostly because he put up a fight though. If he had just sat down and took the scolding like the rest of them did, it would be different.
You were both a force to be reckoned with, in your own ways.
But, you both would stay by each other at the end of the day.
Tumblr media
Jisung 한지성
You really intimidated this man, but he was good at hiding it. It’s how he became so immune to Chan’s annoyed outbursts.
They don’t faze this chipmunk because he has seen worse: you.
You two would always bicker when you were together, but in the long-run, you would both kill for one another.
That may sound kind of dramatic, but you were both passionate about your protectiveness of one another. No one could say something bad about one without the other one knowing and exacting revenge.
You two loved each other, and it was obvious to everyone who had seen you together.
Tumblr media
Felix 이용복
Ok, one thing I have to say about Felix is that he’s good at taking someone’s anger, deflecting, and acting cute right after.
You may have had a bit of an anger issue, and he learned the best way to deal with it was acting cute and lovable (not that he already isn’t).
Eventually, you would melt and relent in the face of his adorableness, but it would take some effort.
When he was eliminated from the group in front of JYP, he was devastated, and rather scared to tell you. You didn’t take his failure well.
However, you knew how hard he tried and how badly he wanted to stay with the rest of the boys, so you just comforted him instead.
Ever since then, your relationship has improved and evolved.
You no longer harped on him for absolutely everything; you let him do his thing because you knew he was going to do well.
Sure, sometimes you still have outbursts, but they are more rare.
When they happen, he just pulls out the ‘cute’ card and the issue gets solved once more.
Yes, you two really love each other, but the sibling relationship just took a bit longer to occur than some of the other ones.
Tumblr media
Seungmin 김승민
He’s another one that knows how to handle you pretty well, like Hyunjin.
However, his is more of a placating “ok, I understand” instead of fighting back.
Sure, he has an attitude, and we all know he lets it loose often.
Never in front of you though, that would get him nowhere.
So, he has decided the best way to address your outbursts or nagging is just to comply and wait until they leave.
Since he decided to deal with it this way, you two honestly also never had problems with one another.
You had no reason to be displeased with him because he never did anything to make you mad, and he just took your strictness as your personality.
Tumblr media
Jeongin 양정인
Oh my goodness, this man.
Since he never used to get his way with you, he is relishing the experience with the boys.
They let him get away with a lot.
However, that annoying little brother act with all the sass disappears as soon as you appear.
You honestly terrify him, and the others know it.
Since he started working at JYP, you haven’t seen each other very often, but when you do, the boys make sure to tease him about how he acted around you.
It’s not like he was subservient or anything like that, he was just more cautious. Maybe even more so than with his parents.
But that’s an older sibling's job, isn’t it? To be intimidating.

BACKSTORY (TEMPORARY AND NOT CANON)
a man who makes swords like it was his life.. well technically yeah, making zanpakutos was his hobby, MAIN hobby that he finds really fun and really nice to do specifically in his free time. he sometimes don't have that much free time but when he do you can caught him making zanpakatos! at least until Manako Oshou invite him into becoming one of the squad zero which he then asked for the benefits of becoming one and apparently he'll get all the free time in the world to make any type of zanpakuto as much as he liked (there's a lot more benefits but that's the only thing Oetsu cared about when Ichibe told him a whole bunch of benefits) and so he joined in without much trouble.
PERSONALITIES
unpredictably scary. he's quite lively and very energetic, always never staying still and his mood can switch from zero to hundred to ten or to thousands if he wished, he was never predictable. he can be scary and terrifying if he wish, he can be friendly if he wish, he can be anything with his emotions, yet with his friendly demeanor do never take him lightly.

ABILITIES
Sayafushi (鞘伏, Sheath Cover; Viz "Sheath Dodger"): A Zanpakutō forged personally by Nimaiya, it takes the form of a standard-sized katana. It has a simple oval-shaped tsuba of bronze with a ring embossed around the sides of it and a black-clothed handle. While its forms and abilities are unknown, Sayafushi is extremely sharp sword to such an extent, its forte is somewhat unstable due to not having been drawn it in a long period of time. Nimaiya considers Sayafushi a failed creation because its blade is too sharp and its edge is too smooth; it never chips or scratches from use, and blood slides off it immediately. Because of this, no sheath can hold it, which means it fails to meet the basic definition of a sword.

At some time in the past, he invented Kaidō, which he then taught to Retsu Unohana. he was aggressive.. too aggressive that almost no one believed that he could be the captain of squad 4. he was invited within squad 0 due to his good healing ability and due to how effective his kaido that he created was. he didn't give a single shit about any of the benefits that the old man (Ichibe) told him at all all he asked for was a hotspring.. and if he could get a cool and menacing title to his name.. and well he did get what he asked for-
PERSONALITIES
people thinks he likes to pick fights, but it's not true. sometimes he lose his temper and blow off a little steam but he never enjoyed it. he's not a violent person, he don't know why he yells all the time. he have the habit of being unable to control his tone of voice and how harsh he sounds most of the time.. even then he's still a kind person, just push aside his tone of voice please

tw: SA of minors by adults, creepy behavior by adult toward minors, stalking mention, very abusive, violent and dangerous abuser.
looking for: someone to listen
im finding out more and more about my abuser which validates I know I went through abuse by her but it scares me bc she apparently had hooked up with a minor when we were YA after high school sometime I think. she had abused many exes ive spoken with including ex-friends who really hate her now and im in touch with a couple of her exes. she downplays the violent and scary abuse and stalking she's put people through by acting like "everyones toxic, so what" kind of mindset about it... she really traumatized a certain ex of hers by literally man handling her ex and showing up in the middle of the night to try to break into the house, and SA'd her ex multiple times bc the victim kept going back obviously as we do as abuse victims.... I went back to this abuser multiple times as well...super scary. ive been speaking with victims. she's been stalking me with her friends. I regularly talk to some of these victims and thankfully have good relationships with them, they believe me that I was abused by her of course bc they were too. idk what to do about a stalker who literally knows and admitted to the fact that she knew she abused me since the beginning when we first met. I know looking back at my interactions with her over the years I had good intentions, my thoughts and intentions were not malice or manipulative but simply confused... but she tried manipulating me into a situation to try to SA me, like not telling me she wanted sex but trying to get me to have sex by manipulating the circumstances so she could get what she wanted for her own pleasure and I ended up feeling trapped and it happened but I didn't and couldn't consent... and she did end up SA me bc im displaying symptoms of SA and symptoms in relation to her but I have no memory of the SA. there was another person she kept trying to fuck but the person didn't want to have sex, and she kept manipulating the circumstances by making the victim drink more to see if she's trying to fuck but thats rape... and she admitted to it but she makes excuses like "people change their minds" and "if she didn't want it she would've stopped me" like what.
Hi anon,
I'm so sorry about what you've been through. Experiencing trauma like this can be devastating, and it's important to acknowledge that what you went through is valid regardless of what your abuser has done against others. But it certainly can create a sense of unity, solidarity, and belonging to have a support system of other survivors who were victimized by your abuser, and it can be incredibly meaningful to surround yourself with people who believe you.
It can be incredibly challenging to deal with abusers like this, who avoid accountability, downplay the gravity of their actions, and manipulate people in order to take advantage of them. It sounds like there are unfortunately multiple instances of your abuser doing these things, and it's important to note that repeated trauma can have a cumulative effect, making it more difficult to heal from, though not impossible.
I think it's also important to just say that regarding the idea that "if she didn't want it she would've stopped me", it sadly neglects other cues like body language, and other factors like fear and intimidation, which can all make it harder for someone to feel comfortable withdrawing their consent. Verbal consent is not the only kind of consent, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to reaffirm that.
If you can access or afford it, a mental health professional such as a therapist can help you process your experiences and develop some healthy coping mechanisms that you can take with you along your healing journey.
I hope I could help and please let us know if you need anything.

On racial stereotyping of the Haans in TMA...
Right so as someone who is ethnically Chinese I have NO FUCKING clue how I didn’t notice this more distinctly in my initial binge of tma (going too fast and not paying closer attention to character names and descriptions, probably) but the Haan family storyline is, all horror elements aside, pretty fucked up in terms of racial representation re: stereotyping. This got long as hell, but please please please take a moment to read through if you’ve got time for it. thanks.
To start off, the Haans are one of the few characters in tma with an explicitly specified race and ethnicity—Chinese—and pretty much the only explicitly Chinese characters in tma, other than the mostly unimportant librarian (Zhang Xiaoling) from Beijing. But like, Haan isn’t even a properly Chinese surname, at least not in the way that it’s spelled in canon (it should be Han, one a. A quick google search tells me that Haan as a surname has...Dutch origins??).
Of course, that could be chalked up to shoddy anglicization processes within family histories, which certainly isn’t uncommon with immigrant families, so I’m not going to dwell on names too much (although I also find it interesting that John Haan’s name is so specifically and weirdly anglicized that he changed his own surname?? Hun Yung to John Haan is a very big leap of a name change and frankly not very believable. ANYWAY, this is not that important. I don’t expect Jonny, a white Englishman, to come up with perfectly unquestionable non-Cho-Chang-like Chinese names, though it certainly would be nice. Moving on).
What really bothers me about the Haans is how they almost exclusively and explicitly play into negative Chinese immigrant stereotypes. I don’t even feel like I need to say it because it’s like...it’s literally Right There, folks. John Haan (in ep 72) owns and operates a sketchy takeout restaurant. They’re all avatars of the Flesh—and John Haan is Specifically horrific and terrifying because he cooked his wife’s human meat and fed it to his unknowing customers. Does that remind you of any stereotypes which accuse Chinese people of consuming societally unacceptable and ethically questionable things like dog/cat/bat meat (which, if it’s not already crystal fucking clear, we don’t. do that.), which in turn characterize us as horrible unfeeling monsters? John Haan’s characterization feeds (haha, badum tss) directly into this harmful stereotype that have caused very real pain for Chinese people and East Asians in general.
And Jonny does nothing to address that from within his writing (and not out of it either). And, speaking on a more meta level, Jonny could’ve easily had these flesh avatars be individuals of any race (like, what’s Jared Hopworth’s ethnicity? Do we know? No? Well then). Conversely, he could’ve easily, easily had a Chinese person be an avatar of any other entity. So why did he have to chose specifically the Flesh?
(This is a rhetorical question. You know why. Racial stereotyping and invoking a fear of the other in an attempt to enhance horror, babey~)
On Tom Haan’s side, Jonny seems weirdly intent on having other characters repeatedly comment on his accent (or rather, lack thereof) in relation to his race. Think about how, in ep 30 (killing floor), the fact that Tom Haan had spoken a line to the statement giver in “perfect English” was an emphasized beat in that statement, and a beat that was supposed to be “chilling” and meant to signify to us that something was, quote-unquote, “not right” with Tom Haan. Implicitly, that’s saying that it was unexpected, not “normal”, and in this case even eerie, for someone who looks Chinese to have spoken in fluid, unbroken English. Mind you, the line itself was perfectly scary on its own (“you cannot stop the slaughter by closing the door”), so why did Jonny feel the need to note the accent in which it was spoken in? Why did Jonny HAVE to have that statement giver note, that he initially “wasn’t even sure how much English [Haan] spoke”?
This happens again in episode 72 with a Chinese man (and again, his ethnicity is Explicitly Noted) who we assume is also Tom Haan. This one is rather ironically funny and kind of painfully self aware, because the statement giver expresses surprise at Haan’s “crisp RP accent” and then immediately “felt bad about making the assumption that he couldn’t speak English,” and subsequently admitted that thought was “low-key racist.” Like, from a writing perspective, this entire passage is roundabout, pointless, and says absolutely nothing helpful to enhance the horror genre experience for listeners (instead it just sounded like some sort of half-assed excuse so Jonny or other listeners could say “look! We’ve addressed the racism!” You didn’t. It just made me vaguely uncomfortable). And again, having other people comment on our accents/lack thereof while assuming we are foreign is a Very Real microaggression that east asians face on the daily. If Jonny needed some filler sentences for pacing he could’ve written about Literally anything else. So why point out, yet again, that the crazy murderous man was foreign and Chinese?
At this point, you might say, right, but yknow, it was just that the statement givers were kind of racist! It happens! Yeah sure, ok, that’s a passable in-universe explanation for descriptions of Tom Haan (though not John Haan, mind you), but the statement givers are fake made up people, and statement’s still written by Jonny, who absolutely has all the power to write overt discrimination out of his stories. And he does! Think about just how many minor (and major!!) characters are so, so carefully written as completely aracial, and do not have their ethnicity implicated at all in whatever horrors they may or may not be committing. Think about how many lgbtq+ characters have given statements, and have been in statements, without having faced direct forms of discrimination, or portrayed as embodying blatant stereotypes in their stories (though lgbtq+ rep in tma certainly has their own issues that I won’t go into here). Jonny can clearly write characters this way, and he can do it well. So why, why, am I being constantly, repeatedly reminded in-text of the fact that the Haans are East Asian, that they’re from China, that they’re Chinese immigrants, that they’re second-generation British Chinese or whatever the fuck, and that they’re also horrifying conduits for blood, gore, and general fucked-up-ness? It’s absolutely not something that is Needed for the stories to be an effective piece of horror; the only thing it does is perpetuate incredibly harmful and hurtful stereotypes.
And listen, I love tma to bits. It’s taken over my blog. I’ve really loved my interactions with the fandom. And I am consistently blown away by Jonny’s writing and how well he’s able to weave foreshadowing and plot into an incredibly complex collection of stories. But I absolutely Cannot stop thinking about the Haans because it’s just. It’s such a blatant display of racial stereotyping in writing. And I’ve certainly seen a few voices talking about it here and there, and I don’t know if I’m just not looking in the right places, but it certainly feels like something that is just straight up not on the radar for a lot of tma fans. And I’m disappointed about that.
Just, I don’t know. Take a look at those episodes again and do some of your own thinking about why these characters had to be specifically Chinese (answer: they didn’t.). And in general, PLEASE for the love of god turn a critical eye on character portrayals and descriptions whenever they are assigned specific races/ethnicities (Some examples that come to mind are Jude Perry, Annabelle Cane, and Diego Molina), because similar issues, to an extent, extend beyond the Haans, though I haven’t covered them here.
You shouldn’t need a POC to do point out these problems for you when they’re so glaringly There. But for those of you who really didn’t know, hope this was informative in some way. I’m tired, man. If some of the only significant Chinese characters you write are violent cannibalistic men with a perverted relationship with meat, just don’t do it. Please don’t do it.
EDIT: Since the making of this post Jonny has acknowledged and apologized for these portrayals on his twitter and in the Rusty Quill Operations Update, which went up September 2020. A long time coming, but better late than never. This of course doesn’t necessarily negate the harm done by Jonny’s writing, and doesn’t make me much less angry about it, but is appreciated nonetheless. For more on this topic there’s a lot of productive discussions happening in my “#tma crit” tag and in the notes of this post

Sometimes Having Terrible Aim Is Worth It
Pairing: Analogince Word count: 4,492 Logan uses he/they pronouns cw: swearing, snowball fights, mentions of murder, implied bad parents, i might have made lore for this at 1am while bored whoops
Overall, Roman and Logan were happy with their neighborhood. The location was convenient for both of their works (the theatre and the high school) and the environment was very lax. It was a low-crime, middle-class neighborhood with people who seemed very nice.
Roman, the sociable one, had made friends with many of the people on their block, only leaving a couple of houses alone. He had told Logan that all the people he had talked with were amiable people worthy of their friendship. So, Logan had accompanied his boyfriend during conversations with their neighbors on occasion, despite being an introvert with a general disappointment in the human race.
It wasn’t with ease that Roman was able to leave the house on their right alone. He had been warned not to bother the man who lived there as soon as he had moved in and started to make friends with his new neighbors. A blonde woman who Roman guessed to be about twenty years older than him had knocked on the door the evening after the two had moved in and given them the gist of the neighborhood. Her name was Janet, and she had told them about which houses had kids (as well as which kids were the best or quietest), how many people lived at each house, what each resident was like, and finally, about the man who lived next door.
Apparently, he was introverted and creepy, didn’t have friends, had the scariest Halloween decorations, worked at an age-old psychiatric hospital, and was rude and disagreeable. Janet had sufficiently discouraged Roman and Logan from interacting with him, but even if she hadn’t, the reports from their other neighbors would have done the job.
One kid said she had knocked on his door on Halloween, and he had opened the door and snarled at her with a realistic vampire outfit on, laughing evilly as she ran away. One mother said she had gone to his house to ask for a cup of sugar, and he had given her a cup of salt instead. Three kids all said they had seen him near the haunted house on Fridays. There was a rumor going around that he had killed the previous owners of the house Roman and Logan now resided in because their cat had made a small scratch on his car (Logan and Roman were less inclined to believe that last rumor; it was evidence-less, unlike the others).
But, other than the next-door neighbor they were both terrified of, Roman and Logan liked their living situation very much.
It was January, right in the middle of winter. The weather refused to let their area forget this fact; the week had started out with a snowstorm and after one day of pause, it had snowed every day for the next four days. It was now Friday, the fourth consecutive day of having snow, and the neighborhood kids had calmed about the state of the weather. Earlier in the week, Roman and Logan would often look out their window to find kids playing in the snow. Now, the excitement had dialed down and the kids were exhausted. The couple figured that sometime in the middle of the next week, the kids would be back to causing snowy chaos, but there was still almost a week until that hypothesis would be put to the test. At the current time, the block was quiet.
Roman appeared next to Logan, who was reading. He perched himself on the armrest of Logan's armchair and put an arm around his boyfriend.
"Hey, Logan?" Roman asked, taking a lock of Logan's hair and twirling it between his fingers.
"What is it you want, darling?" Logan replied, not looking up from his book.
Roman frowned. "I never said I wanted something."
"You called me Logan," he explained like it were obvious, "so, you want something."
Roman rolled his eyes, wishing his boyfriend wasn't so observant. "I want to have a snowball fight outside."
Logan raised an eyebrow, keeping his eyes on the novel in his hands. "I assume that you want me to join?"
Roman nodded. "Who else would I fight?"
"I also imagine you will annoy me about this subject until I acquiesce, or the snow melts?"
Roman nodded again.
"What's in it for me?"
Roman furrowed his eyebrows in thought. "Well...maybe, after the fight, we can curl up next to each other on the couch in our blankets, hot chocolate in hand, and we can watch Doctor Who or whatever while we snuggle."
Logan bit his lip.
"You know you want to."
Logan rolled their eyes. "I most certainly do not."
Roman grinned at him cheekily. "Bullshit," he said sweetly, "now come with me."
He took the book from Logan's hands and set it on the table. He grabbed a receipt from nearby and put it on the open pages, before slamming the novel shut and pulling his boyfriend to his feet.
Logan made a noise of surprise as he was dragged to the door by his boyfriend.
"Roman, wait!" Logan exclaimed, putting a hand on Roman's arm. "Let me get my gloves and hat on first."
Logan, who was already in a blue patterned sweater and dark purple scarf, dashed to his and Roman's room. He opened his closet and picked out his navy blue beanie and red gloves. He put them on quickly, not wanting to have to deal with Roman's manhandling once again.
He raced back to Roman who was waiting for him at the door impatiently. When he saw Logan, his expression brightened to one of adoration.
"Oh my gosh, mi querido, you look adorable!"
Logan huffed. "I am not adorable."
Roman laughed. "Yes, you are."
Logan knew that arguing was hopeless.
They took the accusation to heart for a moment. "What if the neighbors see our fight and it ruins my reputation and they never take me seriously again?"
"One, they will be too far away from us to recognize you. Two, they won't care. Three, I'm going to be annoying you for the next two months about a snowball fight so if you refuse, they'll judge you for choosing someone as loud and annoying as myself as your boyfriend."
Logan nodded. "Fair enough."
The two exited their house. Logan put his arms around his torso and shivered, the sudden change in temperature shocking his body, but Roman ran ahead. He immediately crouched down to the ground and formed a snowball, aiming directly for Logan’s stomach, and missing by a couple of feet. Logan gave him a disappointed look.
Roman huffed and returned to building a snowball. Logan shivered again, watching the small flecks of white flutter down from the clouds above and land on their suburban neighborhood. Logan was removed from their thoughts when a snowball collided with his stomach.
He stumbled back half a step, but steadied his stance and glared at his boyfriend. Another snowball was thrown his way, but Logan dodged and watched it disperse against the door.
“You might want to join me in the yard, Specs, if you don’t want me to break a window.”
Logan followed his suggestion, running to the front yard and immediately forming a snowball. They threw it at their unsuspecting boyfriend who was in the process of making another snowball. It hit him square in the chest, making him fall backwards.
“Oh, you’re in for it, mi luz.”
Logan rolled his eyes. “You’ve hit me twice, I’ve hit you once. I’m hardly the-”
A snowball to the lungs effectively shut them up.
---
Roman and Logan were hiding behind their respective walls of snow. Throughout the fight, they had been creating their own walls to hide behind to avoid getting hit. The fight would continue until either surrender or unconsciousness occurred, and both knew the former would be the hardest to achieve.
Since the two were both overachievers and never half-assed anything, their respective snow walls were two and a half feet high, roughly four inches in thickness, and approximately two feet wide. Roman had drawn an ‘R’ into his for dramatic effect, and Logan had hit the ‘R’ purposely with a snowball twice.
Neither knew how much time had passed, nor could they sense just how cold they were. All they could think about was demolishing their beloved in a violent war of snow, where only one could be crowned victor.
They were so unfocused that they didn’t notice a door opening and closing. Their eyes were so zeroed in on each other that Logan couldn’t see anything but his weapon and his target.
Logan knew the second the snowball left his hands that he would not land the shot. They were off by at least a couple of feet. They paid it no mind, however, and focused on evading Roman’s next attack.
The snowball landed with an audible smack.
That was unusual; dodged snowballs normally landed soundlessly on the ground.
What was also unusual was the yelp accompanying the sound.
Two shocked heads turned and watched as an unfamiliar man was thrown off his balance from Logan’s ruthlessly packed snowball. He didn’t fall to the ground, no, he was too scary and intimidating for that kind of humiliation to ever befall him. But, he was inconvenienced just enough so that Roman and Logan were terrified for their lives.
Logan hadn’t hit any old neighbor that lived on their block. He had hit the man who lived to their right.
The man who was evil, scary, probably a serial killer; the person that even the adults were scared of. He overdid Halloween, had no friends, and worked at a psychiatric hospital. He could probably kill them if he wanted to. According to the rumors, he had killed for lesser motives.
His eyes locked with both of the men at once, and Logan and Roman had never been more scared in their time together. He was terrifying.
With a black shirt, black jeans, black and purple hair, and a black hoodie, the man next door with tattoos creeping up his neck and black eyeshadow under his eyes looked very much the part the rest of the street had cast him as.
Logan and Roman were truly and undeniably fucked.
When the neighbor stopped glaring at them and walked to his car, Logan and Roman simultaneously craned their necks back to face each other, a terrified look in both of their eyes. Suddenly, all their competitive fire was extinguished and they looked at the snow on the ground with fear and regret instead of devious fun.
Their neighbor got something from his car and returned inside, casting sideways glances at Roman and Logan as he passed them. He slammed his door shut, causing both men to flinch.
From day one, the couple had been warned by kindergarteners and middle-aged women alike that they were unfortunate to be neighbors with the man next door. It was today that this was proven. All they could do was wait for their demise.
Roman threw a snowball at Logan’s face in anger at his actions and bad aim. For the first time in this fight, he wished he had been hit by that snowball.
There was a four minute period where the two were internally debating their options of either going back inside or apologizing to their fearsome neighbor. Occasionally, they would make eye contact with each other, but no words were actually spoken. Roman, the extrovert, considered knocking on his door to make a quick and hasty apology while Logan, the introvert, thought about writing an apology letter and sliding it under his door.
Neither of their ideas needed to be put to action, however, since the neighbor exited his house once again.
The two resisted the overwhelming urge to cower in fear. They had never seen him before, and now they had seen him twice in less than ten minutes? Clearly, they had ticked him off.
In an effort to not make it look as though they were staring, Logan and Roman stuck their gazes on each other. Each could tell that their partner was resisting their instincts telling them to run as far away as they could as fast as possible. But they couldn’t be rude—not when that man lived right next to them and could approach their house at any time. The serial killer rumors suddenly seemed more plausible.
What greeted them (or rather, Logan) instead, was a snowball to the back.
Logan, who was tenser than a taut rope, stumbled from the harsh impact. When he was able to regain his stance, his head whipped around to look at his attacker.
The neighbor had on, of all things, a smile.
He had discarded his hoodie for a fluffy black sweater with purple bats on it. He was now in a black beanie and had on midnight blue gloves. While his winter attire was surprising considering he already had a hoodie and didn’t seem to leave his house much, the mischievous smile was the most perplexing of all new things about their neighbor. Neither Logan nor Roman could make sense of it, except that it let them see the infamously creepy stranger in a new light.
Logan huffed out a bemused laugh, staring at the neighbor (who looked to be similar in age to them) like he was a gripping plot twist in a novel that unexpectedly ended happily. He shook his head a bit, but crouched down and formed another snowball. He made sure not to throw it as hard as the first one he had thrown at the stranger.
The man dodged it with ease, running closer to the snow-covered couple’s house. He swiped some snow off the porch rail and quickly packed it before throwing it at Roman, who was too busy being bewildered to do anything to dodge. He gasped in offense and coughed when the snowball collided with his sternum, and directed a playful glare at his attacker. He threw a snowball at him in return.
The neighbor easily dodged that one, but wasn’t able to dodge the snowball Logan had thrown his way. His attention switched over to the bespectacled assailant, looking at them just in time to see him throw another snowball at his boyfriend.
“How the hell did you make a snowball that quickly, cariño?”
“I have a snow wall, Ro. What do you think I put behind it? Action figures?” Logan retorted sarcastically.
Roman rolled his eyes and formed another snowball, sending it through the air and smack into Logan’s wall. “Every man for himself!”
The neighbor laughed at that, and the snowball fight continued.
---
As it turned out, Logan and Roman were at a disadvantage from already being out in the snow before their neighbor joined in. He was able to make them both surrender eventually, but not before Roman had aimed a snowball at a precise place on the back of his neck where the snow fell down the back of his shirt.
Logan was the wiser out of the couple and had surrendered first (not without a fight, though). He figured he deserved it; he had been the one to disturb the stranger, after all. This made him able to watch as both Roman and the stranger started to shiver more and more as the fight had continued.
When Roman finally did surrender, Logan laughed in his face and then put an arm around him. Logan took one hand in his and was able to tell his fingers were numb.
“You just never know when to quit, do you?” they sighed fondly.
“I did eventually!” protested Roman indignantly.
The stranger chuckled from beside him. “Would’ve been easier for your poor body if you’d surrendered when you knew you were gonna lose.”
It was the first time they’d heard him speak; snowball fights weren’t exactly the best place to start a conversation. His voice was low, about as deep as expected from a scary man in all black. However, it didn’t hold any fearful qualities or scratchiness like the kids had described. The couple thought it sounded like coffee on a cool winter’s morning (which didn’t make sense since coffee wasn’t a sound, but it was all that they could use to describe it, nonetheless).
“And when would that have been?”
“The second I joined in.”
Logan hid a laugh behind their hand. Roman glared at him for encouraging their neighbor.
“No idiot surrenders the second another person joins,” Roman muttered.
“Exactly,” the man said with a wink. Logan was able to spot him curling his arms around himself, probably from being cold.
Roman gasped loudly when he finally realized what the stranger was saying. “How dare you!”
He stumbled out of Logan’s arms and collected more snow off the porch railing, making it into a large, messy ball and chucking it at the stranger.
It hit his face. Not hard in any shape or form; no harm would be done, but it was still a bunch of cold water shoved in his face and falling into the front of his sweater.
The stranger furiously batted at the snow on his face.
“Serves you right,” Roman mumbled.
Logan rolled his eyes. “Sorry, that must’ve been freezing.”
The man nodded.
“Come on in,” Logan invited, opening the door. “We can make you some hot chocolate.”
Roman rushed inside, running to the storage closet that had extra blankets.
“A-are you s-su-re?” the stranger said, syllables separate and repetitive from his shivering. The snow in his face caused his teeth to chatter.
“Of course,” Logan said, “it’s our—well, mostly my fault, that you got cold anyway. I’m Logan. He/they pronouns.”
Virgil chuckled. “L-log-an, h-uh? Was st-st-starting to thi-nk y-you were j-just gi-v-ven a b-bunch of p-pet names at b-birth.”
Logan blushed furiously, but laughed. Roman referred to him with Spanish terms of endearment more than he did his legal name.
“At this point, I might as well have been. I tend to respond to any unfamiliar word that vaguely sounds like Spanish now.”
They ushered the freezing stranger inside. Roman had returned from the storage closet with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders and another under his arm. Logan took the blanket that wasn’t shrouding his shivering boyfriend and wrapped it around the stranger’s shoulders, who tugged it tighter around himself eagerly.
Logan went to the kitchen, putting three mugs of milk into the microwave and setting it for two minutes. They then returned to Roman and their neighbor who were shivering in silence.
“Thanks for joining us,” Roman said, “that was fun.”
“It was,” he agreed, shivering starting to calm down. “T-thank you for letting me p-participate.” Not fully, however.
“Of course,” said Logan, putting an arm on Roman’s shoulders. “I totally meant that snowball as an invitation. Fully intentional.”
The other two laughed, knowing that was a lie. The microwave beeped, and Logan left them to take the mugs from the microwave. He put the hot cocoa powder in and stirred the mugs, before picking them up.
He entered the living room to see that Roman had sat on the left of the couch and the stranger in the middle. Logan put their mugs in front of them and put down a mug for themself. He sat down next to the stranger.
“Might I ask your name, oh Master of the Snowball?” Roman asked.
The stranger snorted. “That’s much better than my name. My name’s Virgil. He/him.”
Logan smiled to himself. “Not at all, that’s a very nice name.”
Virgil choked on the hot chocolate he was sipping. “Thank you,” he said quietly.
“Fits your aesthetic,” Roman remarked.
Virgil opened his mouth, looking offended. “And what’s that supposed to mean?”
It was obviously a joke, but Logan and Roman knew they had to tell Virgil of the rumors and his reputation. Especially now that they saw him as a good guy.
“Halloween,” Roman started to list, “everyday-is-spooky-season aesthetic, seems like the type of guy to work at a haunted house.”
Virgil scoffed. “Those places are stupid; not scary at all. If you want to go to a haunted house, make your house the haunted house.”
Well, now they had the Virgil-goes-to-a-haunted-house-weekly theory debunked.
“You do have ghosts on your sweater,” Logan supplied, taking a sip of the hot chocolate.
“They’re cute ghosts, though,” Roman said as soon as Virgil opened his mouth to argue. He pointed at one on his sweater. “See? Look at the lil’ faces.”
“My sister got it for me for Christmas.”
“If I knew your sister, that would probably explain the cute faces.”
“Oh, believe me, it would.”
Logan chuckled as he watched the two exchange conversation. He took another sip of his hot chocolate.
“So, um, I heard moving trucks outside your house about a month ago. Was that y’all? You new here?” asked Virgil.
“Affirmative,” Logan confirmed.
“Yeah, it’s our very first house together!” Roman said happily.
Virgil smiled. “That’s sickeningly adorable.”
“I am sickeningly adorable,” Roman said like it was a badge of honor.
“I agree,” Logan said.
A comfortable silence befell the group.
Virgil fidgeted, looking at Roman nervously. “Bit awkward question this far into the conversation, but I never caught your name-”
“Roman~” sang the man in question. He would have held the note out for an impressively long time if he didn’t take a sip of hot cocoa.
“Cool,” said Virgil awkwardly. “And I suppose, Roman and Logan, oh wow y’all’s names rhyme that is so romantic, anyway-”
Roman gasped, covering his mouth. His eyes lit up. “They do!”
“Are you just noticing this, Roman?” asked Logan.
“Of course!” Roman exclaimed in reply. “If I knew our names rhymed, I would have already written many a rhyming poem about our love.”
“That’s very nice, Love.”
“Don’t be snippy, mi cielo, you know you’d love it,” Roman huffed. “Virgil, don’t you think he’d love it?”
Virgil just rolled his eyes fondly, not wanting to get caught up in the middle of a lover’s spat.
“Don’t bring Virgil into this, Roman. You should put the subject aside, considering he was in the middle of saying something before you interrupted.”
“Yeah, I’ve been meaning to ask. Did our neighbors happen to...um...tell you what they thought of me? Ruin first impressions? It would explain your terrified expressions when we first saw each other.”
Roman and Logan looked at each other worriedly.
“...Maybe?” Roman asked quietly.
“There’s a small possibility...” Logan whispered.
“Y’all, I’m not mad if it happened, I just wanna know.”
Logan sighed. “Yes, yes they did.”
“What’d they say?”
“Multiple people said different things,” Logan began. “Janet talked to us first. She’s the blonde, short-haired, blue-eyed-”
“-Used to be a soccer mom, baby blue house?” Virgil asked. Logan nodded. “Met her when I first moved in, and once after that.”
“Her, yes. She told us, quite frankly, to not come near you.”
Virgil started to close in on himself. “Like how?”
“Said you were creepy, rude, introverted, no friends, freaky-as-all-hell Halloween decorations, apparently knew where you worked,” Roman told him, then noticed Virgil’s shrinking and stopped with the accusations. “I doubt almost all of that now, since you’re obviously not creepy and definitely have friends with that personality, but she may have been accurate with Halloween decor.”
“She was,” Virgil confirmed. “Go big or go home.”
“I believe you are normally home during Halloween, are you not?” asked Logan, confused.
Roman laughed. “Of course, mi amor.”
“Where do I work, in Janet terms?” asked Virgil, a smile tugging at his lips.
“Some old psychiatric hospital out of town.”
Virgil doubled over in laughter. He put his mug on the coffee table so it wouldn’t spill and held his head in his hands.
When he regained himself, still giggling, he replied.
“That’s inaccurate,” Virgil said plainly. “I don’t have a degree for that. See, there’s an old abandoned psychiatric hospital two miles away from the airport that is on the same road as the airport. It’s out of use, so that’s a stupid assumption to make. I guess I could maybe see why she made it though; I work at the airport.”
“Oh?” asked Logan, intrigued.
“Yeah, I’m an air traffic controller,” said Virgil with a shrug. “It ain’t that interesting. I recently got fully certified, though, which is cool. It pays well, I’m good at paying constant attention to things that could potentially end badly, and the high-stress comes from having to give my unwavering and full attention, which is something I can do well.”
“Less stressful than home and college, I guess, huh?” Roman guessed.
“Exactly, it's a spa compared to my parents,” Virgil said with a laugh. “But yeah, that’s hysterical. I definitely do not work at a psychiatric hospital.”
“I suppose what the kids said is untrue if what the adults said is false,” Logan mused.
“Oh dear lord, what did they say,” Virgil groaned.
“One girl told us about the rumor that you killed the people who used to live here,” Roman said, and Virgil immediately laughed. “Her mother said she asked for a cup of sugar and you gave her a cup of salt instead.”
“I hadn’t slept in five days and realized my mistake two hours later,” Virgil explained immediately. “I remember that one.”
Logan snorted. “One boy said you go to the haunted house on Fridays, which is obviously untrue.”
“Yeah. One, they’re stupid, two, that one’s only open in October and November, three, that one ain’t even scary. It has a good and free parking lot, though, and I volunteer at an at-risk youth center every Friday a couple blocks down that has really shitty parking.”
Roman shook his head. “Wow, we really got you wrong.”
“You were misled,” Virgil corrected. “It’s not your fault.”
“You know what, you’re right!” Roman agreed. “We were robbed.”
Virgil raised an eyebrow. “Of what?”
“Of friendship,” Logan said, taking a sip from his drink. “Roman would have been banging on your door two days after moving, wanting to get to know you. But, after a momentous amount of ‘rude’ and ‘disagreeable’—” Virgil frowned, “—he was persuaded not to. Our loss, especially considering you are neither of those two adjectives.”
Virgil smiled. “Thank you.”
Logan looked into Virgil’s chestnut brown eyes, and was able to spot the specks of gray in them. They gave Virgil a warm smile. “For what? It is our pleasure to be given the chance to know you.”
Roman groaned. “I try 24/7 to be dramatic and you do it without trying.”
Virgil, blushing, giggled. “You’re both good at it.”
Roman beamed at him. “I’m thrilled you think so, Nico di Angel-o.”
“Nico’s surname can be interpreted to mean ‘of the angels’ already, Roman, I don’t think you need to emphas-”
“Shhhh, Specs, let me shower our guest with compliments.”
Virgil’s face was on fire. “Do y’all have any movies?”

I wrote most of that when I went into a blur for three hours and looked at the time after I finished the draft to see that I had wasted all the time I had to do homework. It was worth it. I don’t know why but I’m really attached to this AU? If you want to see more of it please tell me. I hope you liked it!

Dazai x Reader | Midnight kiss
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Osamu Dazai x fem!Reader
Warnings: suicide references (Dazai’s fault!), probably uncorrect english.
Notes: This is just my way to wish you an amazing, pure, cheerful, and energetic new year! I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Tumblr media
◈ ━━━━━━━━  One-shot  ━━━━━━━━ ◈
Your eyes are silently running along the skyline of the light-studded buildings as you look at the vast and chaotic Yokohama from above. The city is…eerily quiet, even if it’s New Year’s Eve. There is nobody on the street, it’s surreal, scary and amazing at the same time. You’re all by yourself on the roof of the Armed Detective Agency, slowly breathing the cold winter air; your head is full of memories and thoughts while you mentally retrace what happened this year.
Downstair the Agency members are making noise: not a big party, of course, but when a half-drunk Kunikida meets a perfectly sober Dazai chaos is guaranteed. You have no idea how he made him drink so much, it’s probably one of his hidden (but not too much) talents, he can make people do what they don't really want to do. You just laughed until you cry, but now you need some time to breathe and think in silence.
Or, at least, that was the plan.
« It’s cold outside, Belladonna. You should cover yourself. »
That whisper at your left ear makes you jump and you suddenly turn in Dazai’s direction. You didn’t hear him coming…
« Woah, did I scare you? Sorry sorry. »
He chants with a sly smile on his lips, exhaling a warm and all but innocent laugh. Mpft… that dummy. That annoying, lazy, foolish dummy you have a crush on. You open your mouth to reproach him, but right in that moment you notice something: he holds your scarf in his hands and suddenly he wraps it around your shoulders, slowly and with an unusual care.
« Much better. »
He murmurs, now looking at you with a soft smile.
Sometimes you really hate him, especially when he acts like this, making difficult to hide the effect he has on you. You always ask yourself if Dazai knows. If he, with the brilliant brain of his and that hazel brown and detail-oriented eyes, ever noticed how you look at him, how he makes your day when he jokes around, how you blush when he teases you.
« Thank you. »
You softly murmur, avoiding his gaze and returning to look at the city. A deep and intimate silence surrounds the two of you, suddenly broken by Dazai’s sigh.
« It’s almost Midnight. This year is finally over. » He affirms, crossing his arms on the roof railing.
« Yes. It’s been a difficult year. » You say back, and Dazai nods in response.
« You got that right, y/n. »
Looking at him you can see a nostalgic light in his irises and a sad smile on his lips. That vision silently kills you inside but…how can a human being be so beautiful and graceful, even wearing that expression?
« So. Do you have any New Year’s resolution? »
Dazai’s question sounds inquisitive and yet legitimate, that kind of curiosity he usually addresses to a client or a suspect. He looks at you, patient and calm, while the cold wind runs through his brown hair. It’s such a distraction, you need almost ten seconds before an answer come out of your lips.
« Yes, I definitely do. I want to be stronger, sharper, braver, happier… » You start listing, touching your own fingertips. « …I want to eat more exotic food, be more proud of myself, better protect my friends and I want to be a better me. What about your New Year’s resolution, Dazai? »
His visage is a soft yet funny mask of surprise. Your list impressed him and he looks at you with sparkling eyes and a smile full of admiration.
« Y/n, you’re soooo inspiring! » He chants again and you’re not sure if he’s joking or not, then he leads a hand to his chin with a theatrical brooding air. « Mhh…I use to live day by day, so I don’t  have proper resolutions or long-term plans. Except for one. »
A sudden scream come from downstair.
Ten seconds left!
You’re paralyzed by Dazai’s gaze. The young detective is right in front of you, closer than you can handle. His scent is addictive…it’s hypnotic.
« Please, don’t say suicide or I’ll kill you. »
He laughs.
Nine.
« Is it a proposal, y/n? »
« Dazai! »
« Okay, okay, sorry. »
Eight.
Before you can say anything, his cold hand softly touches your cheek. His fingertips slowly caress your red cheekbone in a delicate touch that makes you violently shiver. Why is he so close? Why is he smiling in that way you secretly love?
Seven.
« Let’s say so, y/n: I’m a simple and undemanding man. I don’t know what to expect from the new year and I don’t want to make resolutions. »
Six.
His hand gently slides under your chin, except for his thumb, tenderly caressing your lips. You feel like the whole world is fading away.
« I just want to start it in the best way. And I think I need your help for it. »
Five.
Maybe it’s a dream, or maybe not…
Four.
…but your shaking right hand reaches his chest.
Three.
You can feel his breath on your lips. Dazai’s other arm slowly wraps around your waist in a silent request for consent.
Two.
You instinctively close your eyes and rise your body on tiptoe.
One.
Dazai gently presses his lips against yours. Pure chaos surrounds the both of you, celebration screams, fireworks, breaking glass toasts, Yokohama awakens from its silence to welcome the new year, but you can hear none of this. Nothing else matters but you and the young man tenderly kissing you.
His lips are so soft you’re afraid to ruin them, his arms hold you tight making you feel safe, warm…home.
You know he’s a mess. You know he’s a broken man, even if he never says a word about it.
But, well, you won’t complain add another New Year’s resolution: to take care of Dazai and his inner demons.
When, now breathless, he moves away from your lips there’s a big and genuine smile on his face, that smile you would die for, and two lovely pink circles on his cheeks. His left hand carefully places a lock of hair behind your ear, then he presses his forehead against yours.
« Happy new year, y/n. »
« Happy new year, Dazai. »

MASTERLIST REQUEST RULES
Tumblr media
The file lands on the table, followed by a dull sound. It‘s labelled with the name Diego Hargreeves. In contrary to the file Five still holds in his hands, this one is thicker and looks like it was used a lot. The sides are ripped and creased.
All eyes are on the file, except for one. Diego stares at the knife in his hands. He wishes his girlfriend would be here with him. She could calm him down and give him some kind of strength.
“Why didn‘t you tell us?“, Five asks almost reproachful and points at the file on the wooden table. His brother doesn‘t look up.
“What‘s this?“, Luther asks as he picks up the thick file and starts browsing through it. The huge man widens his eyes in shock.
“I was looking for more information about Lila but instead I found this“, Five explains. The other file must be the one belonging to Lila but that doesn‘t matter to any of the siblings in the room right now.
“The patient is defiant, cynical and violent. Medication has to be increased.“
Diego remembers how they drugged him until he couldn‘t remember his own name anymore.
“Three days in the isolation cell had no effects on the patient.“
They imprisoned him like a cruel criminal. The cell was hell because not only was Diego isolated but the lack of sounds and light played with his mind. Three days of isolation had effects on him.
“A carer had to knock him out because he tried to escape.“
Diego didn‘t want to escape. He was on his way to the canteen. That special carer just hated him and thought it would be funny to punch the defenseless and drugged Diego in the face.
“The patient wont eat.“
Although the food in the mental hospital wasn‘t the best, Diego always ate the food he got. He knew he needed to be ready to escape this hell. They simply didn‘t give him food because he denied to take any more pills.
Luther reads out loud more details of his brothers life in the mental hospital but Diegos ears start ringing. His sight gets blurred. Neither can Diego see or hear anything anymore. The only feeling surrounding him is pain and fear.
He grips his knees as hard as possible and tries to focus on anything but the damage is already done. Diego has an anxiety attack.
Too late do his siblings notice their brothers discomfort and even the moment they realize they hurt him, they just stand and stare.
Fortunately, (Y/n) returns that moment with the groceries she was supposed to get. The moment she see her boyfriend slumped on the couch with tears streaming over his cheeks, she lets go of the paper bag. Quickly, she runs to Diego and doesn‘t wait a second to hug him.
With his girlfriend on his lap and her arms around his shaking body, Diego has finally something good to focus on. (Y/n) knows him well enough to be aware of the fact that only warmth and human touch can help Diego out of his panic attacks.
After some time Diegos siblings know they have to fo something. At least they were the ones to cause his distress. So, one by one they join the hug which is quiet difficult because Diego and (Y/n) are sitting on the couch.
Finally, all of the Hargreeves siblings have their arms protectively around their brother in a family hug.
Tumblr media
A crackling makes the female sit up in her bed. She starts breathing uneven when she hears someone at her front door. It has to be a burglar.
Immediately, (Y/n) jumps out of her bed. She remembers the last time someone broke inside her apartment. It was terrible and scary. The burglar punched her and if a certain vigilant wouldn‘t have come though her window, she wouldn‘t have survived. Fortunately, the vigilant who si her boyfriend now saved her.
The female runs to the one spot at her wall where Diego build some kind of hideout for her. (Y/n) opens the invisible door and crawls inside. In there she huddles up and closes her eyes.
There are slow steps in her bedroom and (Y/n)s heart start beating fast and uneven. Suddenly, she can‘t get any air inside her lungs anymore. She gasps for breath like a fish on dry land but quickly places a hand over her mouth. The fear of the burglar finding her rises inside her chest and it tightens further.
Then the door gets ripped open and in front of the anxious female stands no burglar but her boyfriend. Diego stares at the crouched person with wide brown eyes.
“Hey, baby. It‘s okay. It‘s just me. It‘s Diego“, he whispers and kneels down in front of his girlfriend. Carefully, he places a hand on her cheek and the other hold onto one of her hands. Only now do tears stream over (Y/n)s face.
“Baby. Can you list five things you can see?“, Diego asks with a soft voice and caresses her cheek with his thumb. (Y/n) swallows hardly and takes an shaking deep breath. Her eyes wander over Diego and her bedroom.
“I-I can see...you. And I can see...my bed. There is my fav-favorite plushy. The flowers you gave me this morning. T-The book shelf“, the female whispers with a shaking voice.
Diego looks at the bed and the plushy. He knows leaving (Y/n) for a few seconds could make things worse, but he is sure the plushy will calm her down. So Diego stands up and runs to the bed, getting the plushy and then handing it to (Y/n). She tries to smile at him.
“Okay. Now four things you can touch“, Diego tells her. He sits down again and takes one of her hands in his. (Y/n) presses the plushy to her chest.
“The plushy. I can feel...your hands. The carpet. My sleeping shirt“, the female says a little calmer but there are still tears streaming over her cheeks. And her breathing is still uneven.
“Well done, baby! Now three things you can hear“, Diego suggests and smiles at proudly at his girlfriend.
“Yo-Your voice.“ (Y/n) takes her time and listens closely. “The rain outside. My own breathing.“
“You‘re doing great! What about two things you can smell“, Diego says and places one of his hands on (Y/n)s neck, stroking her chin with his rough thumb.
“Your scent“, the female moves closer to her boyfriend. “And the slight smell of the rain outside.“
Diego nods enthusiastic because he proud how calm his girlfriend is already. The tears are gone, only the wetness of her cheeks show that she cried. Her breathing is almost back to normal and her body doesn‘t shake anymore.
“Okay, last one. One thing you can taste, baby“, Diego smiles at her and leans his forehead against (Y/n)s.
“You“, she whispers and the next moment they share a careful but still passionate kiss.

—————————-
It’s a well known fact that there are three certainties in life; death, taxes and the willpower of one Penelope Garcia. In less than an hour she had somehow organized to get all your clothes and personal possessions delivered right to the BAU, packed in your favorite suitcases and all. A couple of things had to be kept in evidence because the UnSub might have come into contact with them, but all the important stuff was there. It was comforting, having your stuff safe with you and, as you sat through the long and rigorous process of being interviewed, you felt better.
“And you’re 100% sure that none of your employees could have possibly done this?” Rossi asked, “Maybe someone you recently fired? Or someone who has a history of violence?”
You gave him an incredulous look, “Rossi, come on. Do you really think I’d be stupid enough to hire someone with a violent past?”
“You checked everyone out?”
“Full background checks on all three employees,” you agreed, “the harshest thing on any of their records was a parking ticket and a decade old charge for underage drinking.”
Hotch sighed, rubbing his temples right where you knew he got headaches.
“We know the poem is significant to the UnSub. It’s an old love poem, so it’s got to be someone who has some sort of connection to you,” he repeated, “it's personal.”
You shook your head, “Hotch, I don’t know what to tell you. I haven’t had a romantic relationship in years. There’s not a lot of time when you work 14 hour days.”
“Don’t we know it,” Rossi agreed, “so, a stalker, maybe?”
“That’s a hell of a way to make first contact,” you scoffed, “a phone call would be less risky.”
“And less effective.”
You conceded the point with a head tilt, and then looked back at Hotch, “Hotch, can we take a break? We’ve been at this for hours.”
“Of course,” he agreed, “get some rest, Y/L/N.”
“No, it’s okay, there’s work to be done here. I can stay,” you assured, stretching your stiff limbs.
Hotch shot you a look, but said nothing, obviously sensing that you weren’t going to give in without some sort of fight. Instead, he just gave you a terse nod, and walked out, leaving you with Rossi.
“You’re impossible, you know that, right?” He said.
You smiled, shrugging, “What can I say, Ros? I learned from the best.”
He chuckled, shaking his head and ruffling your hair as he walked past you, “Good to have you back, kid.”
The bullpen was busy when you walked back in, suitcases in hand, striding your way over to your old desk. It’s scary how little had really changed in the year since you’d been gone. Aside from Spencer’s semi-annual hair evolution, everything was the same; the smells, the sights, even the comforting clack of Garcia’s heels against the floor. It was comforting, almost painfully so but, as you reached your old desk, you noticed something was wrong.
“Whose stuff is this?” You asked, gesturing to the stacks of files and piles of paper scattered all over the surface.
“Mine,” Emily said, not even looking up from her work.
“But...you have a desk,” you pointed out.
“And now I have two,” she replied simply, “you can sit somewhere else.”
She was being stubborn and you felt a lick of irritation flare up inside your chest. Emily Prentiss had been one of your closest friends for years and, when you’d left the BAU, she’d taken it the hardest. Any other time, you would have understood her resentment but, given the circumstances, you weren’t feeling particularly generous.
You crossed your arms over your chest, “And where do you suggest I sit?”
Emily shrugged and gave you a sickly sweet smile, “You can share with Reid.”
You felt yourself flush with heat. Emily had known about your feelings for Spencer, she’d even encouraged you to act on them. You knew she’d never actually betray your trust, but even that subtle dig was enough to make you want to argue. You opened your mouth but, before you could say anything, Spencer interrupted.
“Here, Y/N,” he smiled, patting a spot beside him, “I’ve got space.”
You pressed your lips together, but relented when he took the time to pull an empty chair over for you to sit in.
“Thanks, Reid,” you said, taking the offered seat.
“So, did you and Hotch figure anything out?” Spencer asked.
You shook your head, “Nothing we didn’t already know. Rossi thinks it might be some kind of stalker?” You offered.
Spencer frowned, “A stalker? That doesn’t make any sense, what kind of stalker starts off their pursuit with a murder?”
“A very, very desperate one.” Emily offered.
You wanted to snap something like; ‘oh, so now you’re talking to me?’ but you bit your tongue. You knew you were on edge, and now wasn’t the time to lash out at the only people who could really help you.
“Or very deranged.” Spencer suggested
You shuddered, picturing a faceless man in all black running his blood soaked hands across your walls, drawing a jagged smiley face above your bed, memorizing the faces in your pictures. You exhaled and pushed the thought away.
“Does this even count as an escalation?” You asked, “I’m not sure there’s really anywhere to go from here.”
You were met with stony silence as Emily and Spencer inspected their respective files. You knew what they were thinking, what everyone was thinking; whatever this was, it was bad news.
“Do we know who our victim is, yet?” Spencer asked.
“Nope,” you sighed, “the UnSub burned off his fingerprints and removed several of his molars before he dumped the body, the ME is doing her best to get a DNA match, but it’ll take time.”
“The mutilation is odd, considering there wasn’t any evidence of torture on the victim before they died,” Spencer said.
“It’s gotta be a forensic countermeasure,” Emily agreed, “but it’s extremely sophisticated. Our UnSub must have experience with law enforcement.”
“But as a perp or a cop?”
You sighed and buried your head in your hands, letting the familiar back and forth wash over you like white noise. You’d had this conversation before, many many times, and it never got any easier. Usually you lived for the puzzle but, now that you were the one under scrutiny, it felt like your brain was rebelling against you.
“Y/N/N?” Spencer asked, touching your shoulder gently and snapping back to reality.
“Mm?” You replied.
His face softened as he took in the exhaustion radiating off your body.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
You nodded, “Just a little drained, that’s all.”
The clicking of heels against the floor drew your attention and you looked up just in time to see Garcia swooping in with her purse.
“You ready to go, crime fighter?” She smiled.
“Go where?” You asked,
“Home!” She smiled, “I have the honor and privilege of hosting you tonight.”
“Garcia-“ you started.
“No! No arguing.” She insisted, “I’ve already found us a lovely little Thai place for dinner, and there’s a bunch of episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer lined up on my DVR.”
You groaned, rolling your eyes fondly, “I hate how well you know me.”
She smiled devilishly, “Sounds good, right?”
“It sounds incredible and you know that because you’re a super genius who knows literally everything.” You teased, pushing yourself onto your feet, “Okay, Wonder Woman, let’s go.”
As you made your way out of the office, you cast one last look over your shoulder, smiling when Spencer met your eye and gave you a small wave.
————————-
“Okay, Sugar Plum, spill,” Penelope pushed, handing you a full glass of wine, “how’re you really doing?”
“With what?”
Penelope shot you an incredulous look, “With, you know, all of it. The murder, the mystery, being back at work, the Spencer Reid of it all.”
You spluttered through a sip of wine, “The what? ‘Nel, you can’t be serious.”
“What? I’m just asking,” she insisted, “he followed you out earlier, you’re sharing a desk now...it wouldn’t be crazy if maybe your old crush came creeping back in.”
“Penelope” you started, “some creep dropped a dead body in my bookstore and broke into my apartment and you think I’m thinking about Spencer?” She didn’t answer, just raising her eyebrows and you sighed, sliding down the couch, “Okay so I’m pathetic.”
“No you’re not!” She insisted, “You guys were like two peas in a pod, back in the day. Plus, you’ve seen like a thousand dead bodies, you’re probably just desensitized.”
“Still,” you sulked, “I can’t believe I’m still thinking about Spence.”
“Naaaaaaaaw,” she swooned, squeezing your knee, “you called him ‘Spence’, you haven’t done that in ages.”
“Fuck off, Nel” you said without any real malice, burying your face in your hands and sighing again, “please tell me I’m being ridiculous.”
Garcia smiled, a knowing glint in her dark blue eyes as she sipped her wine and watched you squirm. She’d kept in touch with you when you left the BAU, insisting on weekly brunch meetups and girls nights and a million other things that you’re not sure you would’ve survived without. She’d been like a lifeline in those first few months and, because of that, she was the only one who really knew how hard leaving had been for you. She’d been the one who sat through the hours of crying and panicking and wondering who you were without your job, who’d held your hand when you went to get a small business loan, who’d sampled your cookie recipes and helped you design uniforms. Penelope Garcia had been there for all of it. You had a photo of the two of you together at the bookstore next to your bed. It was one of your most treasured possessions.
“Now, Sugar Plum, you know I’ve always had a soft spot for you and the Boy Wonder. He’s lovely, you’re lovely; he loves you, you love him, I love you both, it’s a match made in FBI heaven as far as I’m concerned-“
“But?” You prompted with a rueful smile.
“But,” Penelope agreed, “he took it really hard when you left, and I’m not sure how he’ll handle losing you a second time.”
You frowned, “He never lost me. None of you lost me, I just got a different job! It’s not my fault that basically no one bothered to keep in touch.”
Penelope’s face softened and she smiled at you sympathetically, “Pumpkin, you know it’s not like that. When you’re in the BAU, it’s like we’re living in our own little crime bubble, everything outside just kind of….fades, you know?”
“I know…”
“And with Spencer, well, you know he’s never been the best at dealing with abandonment, the poor thing’s been through so much already,” Penelope continued, “he tried to keep in touch. He really did, and he talked about you all the time.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
She sighed, “I don’t know. I guess I just-“ she shrugged and squeezed your knee again, “I don’t want you to think that he forgot about you, that’s all.”
You felt a small smile tug at the corners of your lips, and you gripped Garcia’s hand.
“Thanks, Nel.”
You knew she was right. Life in the BAU wasn’t like life on the outside; you lived by different rules, took different risks, valued different things. It was strange and intoxicating and you really couldn’t fault your teammates for continuing to play the game the way they always had. You’d chosen to leave and you had to live with the consequences of that.
“Can we talk about something besides boys now, please?” You asked, “I want this girl’s night to pass the bechdel test.”
She smiled and clapped her perfectly manicured hands, “Oh do not fret, ma Cherie because I’ve got so much to catch you up on-“
You listened with rapt attention as Garcia filled you in on the last twelve months of FBI gossip. You laughed together, ate Thai food and just relaxed together. With every Perfectly Penelope story, you felt a little more of your tension slip away and, by the time you made it to bed, you were feeling almost normal.
Penelope had made up the couch for you, complete with pillows and blankets and a homemade quilt. It was comfortable, too comfortable. So comfortable, that your brain had way too much time to mull over what Penelope had said earlier.
Spencer hadn’t just forgotten about you. What did that mean? He’d taken it hard when you left...the questions bounced around your mind like wasps, keeping you awake. Without meaning to, your mind started to drift, sifting through the years worth of memories you’d kept locked away in a box in the back of your mind.
————————
“You are the most insufferable person I’ve ever met,” you laughed, “I’m fine, Spence.”
“You’re not fine, Y/N, you got shot.” Spencer reminded you, his eyes still sparkling with the relief of seeing you alive and in good spirits.
You were sitting in the back of an ambulance, a throbbing pain resonating from the wound in your shoulder as the police searched through the nearby crime scene and Spencer inspected your face. It was cold and dark, but the sirens and flashing lights meant that it was anything but peaceful, and you knew it would still be many hours before either you or Spencer got any sleep.
“Yeah well, we’ve all been shot,” you pointed out, “and, statistically speaking, we have a 100% survival rate.”
Spencer rolled his eyes, but he was smiling so you knew he wasn’t too mad.
“You’re bastardizing my beautiful statistical analysis and using it for evil. Remind me why I’m bothering to check on you, again?” He teased.
“Because you loooooove me,” you teased back, jostling his shoulder with yours, “and because I just took a bullet to the shoulder for you.”
He chuckled but avoided your gaze, focusing on his shoes, “Yeah that would explain it.”
Something in the atmosphere changed and you looked over at Spencer, noticing the way he worried at the inside of his cheek with his hands in his pockets. His brow was furrowed too, like he was sad, and something in your chest pinched.
“You alright there, doc?” You asked.
“Don’t do it again,” he said, looking up and catching your eye.
You paused, “don’t do what?”
“Take a bullet to the shoulder for me,” he explained, “get hurt trying to protect me. Promise me you won’t do it again?”
You pressed your lips together, recognizing the same feeling of fear and guilt in Spencer that you, yourself, felt any time someone you cared about was in danger. You reached out, pulling one of his hands out of his pocket and giving it a gentle squeeze before letting go. Spencer held on for a second longer, his dark eyes filling with something as he took you in.
“You know I can’t promise that, Spence,” you said gently, “if we’re ever in a situation like this again….no way I’m just letting you die to avoid a couple of stitches.”
“No, you don’t-” he paused, getting himself worked up, “you don’t get it. I watched my girlfriend get shot right in front of me, I-I’ve lost so many people that I care about, Y/N, and I can’t lose anyone else. Not for something as stupid as my own life.”
“Your life isn’t some insignificant thing, Spence,” you insisted, “it’s important! To me, to the team, to everyone. We’re a family, Spencer, families have each other’s backs. Always.”
He took a deep breath and nodded, carding his fingers through his hair like he was agitated.
“Just-” he started again, “just promise me you won’t do it again.”
“I can’t.” you insisted, “I can’t make that promise.
He turned to face you, looking more tired than you’d seen him in weeks, “Then promise you’ll be careful. Promise me I won’t lose you too?”
Your heart ached, and you longed to reach out and wrap him up in your arms, but you restrained yourself.
“How about this; I’ll promise that you won’t lose me, if you promise that we’ll always be best friends, and that you’ll try to start valuing your own life as much as you value mine or Morgan’s, deal?” You offered, extending your hand for Spencer to shake.
Spencer frowned, opening his mouth to argue but, before he could, an agent interrupted.
“Agent Y/L/N? Dr. Reid? Agent Hotchner is looking for you.”
———————————-
You snapped back to reality with a jolt, and realised you were lonely. So much time had passed since that night, but you remembered it all perfectly, every detail. It wasn’t an especially meaningful night, there were a million moments just like it, but something about it had stuck. Maybe it was the potential, the wondering, that thing that he never got to say. You wish you’d gotten to hear it now.
You fumbled around in the dark for your cellphone, typing out a message and pressing send before you could think better of it. It was short, and to the point, and you would be shocked if he responded but, once it was done, you felt something in your chest loosen, like maybe you’d been wanting to send that message for a really long time.
To Spencer Reid:  Hey, Reid? I’m sorry I left, I never meant to break my promise.
With the heavy weight of remembering suddenly lifted, you realised how tired you were, and you let sleep drag you under. If you’d stayed awake a little longer, you might not have missed the way Spencer kept typing, typing, typing away some message he never sent. Or the eventual response, which only came in three hours later:
You never broke your promise, Y/N. I broke mine.

Okay but imagine if like it wasn’t just naming the Batmobile and stuff that was Dick’s early impact. Imagine if a lot of Bruce’s own theatricality was born of Dick’s influence as well. Like the fact that Bruce was very early in his Batman career doesn’t have to necessarily mean he was less capable when confronting villains....it could have more to do with him not having fully and cohesively crafted the persona he wanted to evoke yet either.
Like I’m thinking of when Bruce encountered Dick on the rooftops that night Dick ran from juvie and how Dick wasn’t exactly reassured by Bruce’s presence....because when you think about it, along with stuff I’ve mentioned before about how visually Batman just isn’t an innately comforting sight, unless you’re ASSOCIATING certain things with the sight of him, things that aren’t actually an automatic given from everyone’s POV....
That early on in Bruce’s career, in just the first couple years, like yeah people knew who Batman was by then, but that doesn’t mean they knew what to make of him, yknow? The enemy of my enemy is not actually always my friend, and just because Batman was helping people by taking out various villains and violent criminals doesn’t mean people innately assumed that this big scary shadow man was doing so out of a desire to protect them rather than just a desire to punish their attackers. People don’t get the same vibe off the Punisher that they do off Spider-man even if both are as likely to show up to stop a mugging.
And it’s possible and even likely that evolving and honing his image specifically is something that marked the transition from Batman’s early years to when he began being seen more as a guardian knight figure....and Dick logically would have been a huge reason for that if only because his presence would have Bruce consciously thinking more about his impact and the impression he made on people.
And due to his already having more experience and expertise as a performer specifically, than Bruce did even with all his other skills and experience, even from a young age Dick could have actively helped him shape this. Bruce isn’t always the most emotionally intuitive, practically speaking, and we talk a lot about Robin traditionally being better at interacting with the survivors of crimes while Bruce focused on the perpetrators....but what if even just from watching how Dick was, this is what helped Bruce get better at it too, like what softened his edges?
After all, this specifically is like the one area he’d never really trained for. None of the teachers he had when learning how to become Batman were really focused on what to do with the people he was protecting or trying to protect. It’s likely in those first couple years he was fairly awkward with victims and survivors, not intentionally but rather just because this was a gap in his training and he hadn’t lived the kind of life or been surrounded by the kind of influences up until that point where this is the sort of thing that came naturally. Unlike, say, it did for a child entertainer who had spent his entire life performing for crowds of strangers from all walks of life, and tailoring his behavior and performances to what would most appeal to which audiences.
Bruce had the SKILLS to enable all the theatricality he became known for eventually....but not necessarily the instincts. He already knew how to vanish into the shadows without a sound....because the League and other assassins taught him how to do that in order to terrify and bewilder his enemies.....but that wasn’t always the intention behind Bruce wanting to USE those particular skills.
Like now I’m just picturing the classic trolling thing Bruce does where he vanishes the second Gordon turns his back and leaves him going ugh wtf, why does he ALWAYS HAVE TO DO THAT!?!?
What if one of the main reasons it became such a consistent Thing for Bruce....was simply because of the effect it had on a young Robin, who’d stifle his giggles until they got back to the car - no, the Batmobile - before gleefully enjoying the spectacle of it all?
“Oh man, B, that was classic! Didja see the Commissioner’s face? He was like WHOA WHERE’D HE GO? It was so funny. Wait til I tell Alfie, I gotta get a picture next time.”
(Especially if say, you factor in Dick’s early experiences with police and the fact that they’d never been the reassuring presence for Dick that they’d been for Bruce at times....both because of Dick’s experiences in Gotham and even before that as it’s not like police tend to be overly fond of traveling circuses or at all welcoming to their members....perhaps prompting Bruce to want to give Dick something else to focus on or distract him when around them).

I Drive Me Mad

By: @sheabeeprime for @superherotiger as part of @friendly-neighborhood-exchange -> I'm so sorry this is late. I worked really hard though and wouldn't even read my story until this was posted so I hope you love it <3
Rating: Teen + Relationships: Peter Parker & Tony Stark Characters: Peter Parker, Tony Stark
Summary:
Even though he couldn’t make out most of the distinct features that would confirm this figure to be human, let alone someone he knew, he wasn’t afraid. This man wasn’t scary like his captors had been. No, he radiated safety and warmth and through the armor plating that now gently caressed his cheek, Peter detected a familiar smell of expensive cologne mixed with motor oil which he recognized as home. “D-Dad? Please…help me,” Peter whimpered, fighting spirit returning ever so slightly as he resisted the need to allow his eyes roll back into his skull and fall into the forever slumber. It hurt to stay awake and to try and comprehend reality, but something inside of him said that he had to. He had to, if not for himself than for the blob of red and gold which held him close. He couldn’t imagine how terrible it would be for a father to lose their only child. “It’s okay Peter; you’re going to be okay." Or: In the aftermath of his kidnapping, Peter takes comfort from Tony during a Thunderstorm.
References to Torture
The first time Peter called Tony “Dad,” he was tired and 100% drugged out. Whatever his kidnappers injected him with was strong, with its effects still lingering even after his captors ceased their torture and left for him dead. Peter only hoped the reason they finally abandoned his husk was because they realized Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers were hot on their tail.
It took an additional 36 hours after that, however, before Tony and the others finally found him. At that point Peter was damn near dead.
Days prior he was still trying to fight through the toxins as they were administered. He tried to stay awake and learn everything he could about his captors... Now, the spiderling was just trying to save his energy enough to stay alive, to maintain his vital functions, even if poorly.
Peter couldn’t even hold his head up anymore; allowing it to lull from one side to the other when his mentor tried to shake him back into awareness. The unpleasant feeling of his head rolling about his shoulders, however, was just barely enough ignite the fringes of his mind with a semi-consciousness. He mentally reached for the feeling, trying to hold onto it as long as possible.
“D-Dad?” He asked, tongue thick and cottony.
It took all his enhanced strength, but Peter lifted his head up just enough so that when his eyelids fluttered open, he was looking at the blurred figure before him in their eyes.
“It’s okay Peter; you’re going to be okay.”
He clung to the feeling of hope that being in this figure’s arms brought him. Hands still bound behind his back with vibranium cuffs, Peter simply nuzzled into the neck of who he hoped to be his father, breathing in a heavy and ragged way while trying to hold back tears as the man cradled him and whispered sweet nothings, only stopping on the occasion to bark orders at the other Avengers.
Peter tried to ignore how every fiber of his body seemed to suddenly be subjected to hot flames when he was finally lifted up by the red and gold. As they took off into the air, Peter moaned, head throbbing to the same rhythm of his uneven pulse. His senses were both still dulled and on overdrive. He couldn’t even enjoy the way the cool air that filtered past them brought relief to his burning body because of the simultaneous wind sounds and air pressure that pounded in his ears.
Landing had to be worse than flying though. Peter wasn’t sure how long they’d been in the air for prior to hitting the ground, but the jostle it wrought was enough to displace Peter’s empty stomach such that his body, tired as it was, instinctually lurched forward in an attempt to dry heave. The strong arms holding him tightened their fatherly grip as Peter trembled in the aftermath, praying that the numbness he felt before might return and mask this pain once again.
There seemed to be no time to try and relax though. Almost immediately after his stomach attempted to turn inside out did a group of hands try to pry the crime-fighting-spider from his human safety blanket. Peter half expected the metal man to defend him, so when the man instead began the relinquish the hold he had on Peter to the group of strangers, Peter felt fear strike his heart.
“No!” he cried out, pushing back into the chest of the one person he knew was safe while trying to violent kick at his attackers.
“Pete, it’s okay. They just want to help. You’re safe,” The figure spoke in his ear, voice smooth and even, never once showing there was a reason to panic.
The words seemed to cocoon the spiderling up like his favorite MIT Hoodie. They allowed just the smallest morsel of comfort to sink into his skin and convinced him to momentarily stop bracing against the mass of hands just long enough for them to somehow release him from confines of the vibranium cuffs.
When Peter felt the pressure on his writs dissipate, his arms immediately snapped forward to wrap around his red and gold savior, gripping into the alloy mixture without fear of denting it. The person behind the armor didn’t even flinch he crunched the suit like aluminon foil.
“Don’ wan you ‘o leave me,” Peter slurred.
A couple minutes of silence passed, where the figure just hushed Peter by massaging his arms with one hand, supporting him still with the other, until the teenager could be coaxed into letting go and laying onto a gurney. When he finally relinquished the last of his grip and the medical staff began to work, Peter felt a stab of panic into his heart again. Behind his eyes, he could see the masked faces of his captors, taunting him in his intoxicated, helpless state and reaching to inflict more pain. Before Peter could open his mouth to scream, however, the sensation of someone holding his hand cut through the vision, anchoring him to reality.
The hand was about the size of the metal ones holding onto him earlier, except this time they were made of flesh. They felt soft yet calloused; gentle yet firm.
“Dad?”
Peter blinked a couple times, double vision lining up long enough to see Tony Stark’s face hovering over his own, concerned eyes and a worried smile. He ran his free hand over Peter’s sweat and blood matted hair, just like a parent would.
“It’s okay, little Bambino. I’m not going anywhere.” ~~~~~~~~
Peter didn’t remember calling Tony “Dad.” Actually, Peter didn’t remember much from his recuse at all. He wasn’t as embarrassed about it as his mentor, and even he himself, thought he was going to be though. Peter had recused people from kidnapping situations before and accepted that sometimes they say and do weird things. Never mind the fact that he had been fighting off calling Iron Man “Dad” in everyday conversations about a month prior to the incident.
Surprisingly, Peter was more flustered to find out that, true to his word, Tony stayed with him through all the poking, prodding, and evaluating. Even when surgery was deemed necessary
to reset some broken bones Peter had, Tony was there while he was put under and prepped for surgery. It was not until the lead doctor, Helen Cho, insisted that his presence in the surgery suite would be unsanitary and could inhibit the team of doctors that the billionaire finally did step aside. And even still, Tony’s face was the first he saw when he woke up.
Peter made a pretty quick recovery after that, all things considered. Once he gained enough weight back for his super healing to begin and work again, his bones and wounds seemed to knit themselves back together at an astronomical rate. 48 days after the incident and Dr. Cho even cleared him to be Spider-Man again, to Tony and May’s disgruntlement.
But Peter figured, this kind of thing…it happens to heroes. It happened to Tony. Sure, that was before he became Iron Man, but it still counts. And anyway, he didn’t want it to stop him from helping people; from preventing that kind of thing from happening to anyone else. He did the time in the hospital, he went to Tony’s mandated therapy, he should be able to be Spider-Man. It was the best thing for him anyway; to just move on.
Because that’s what heroes do.
Right?
But while he may have recovered from his physical wounds, his mental ones seemed tattooed with ugly ink on the back of his skull
Peter found he no longer felt safe in the apartment, with the sounds of the city beneath him. Whenever he closed his eyes, the dripping of their old bathroom faucet, or the sounds of his neighbors arguing, or the smell of the trash on the curb somehow brought him back to that grimy warehouse he had been kept in.
And when he was out and about, Peter’s Spidey Sense would constantly thrum. It made him seem paranoid. He would jump at just the sound of car doors closing or cats meowing or even just his friends approaching from behind. Everyone felt too close, but also too far.
The nightmares had to be the worst of it. Every night, he felt tortured again. Sometimes they were memories, sometimes imaginative scenarios, but always his fears playing out before his eyes. He tried to immerse himself with Spider-Man patrols and schoolwork in the late hour of night when sleep felt like imprisonment, but that wasn’t helping his mental state either.
That’s how Peter found himself sleeping at the Tower.
Peter wasn’t sure if being so high up and far away from the streets was what helped him calm down, or the bullet proof windows, or if it was just being close to Tony, but something about the Tower allowed him to sleep, even if only a little bit.
May was the first to approve of the arrangement.
“Anything to help my baby get better,” she said.
Tony had been pushing for him to stay anyway.
“It’s safer,” the genius would claim. And he was right, but there was more too it than that.
Either way, the Spiderling now had his own Star-Wars themed room in the Stark penthouse, down the hall from the master bedroom. And he would be lying if he said staying with his mentor hadn’t been great. The long lab days, the movie nights, the expensive family dinners, all of it was wonderful…except for one thing.
Thunderstorms.
KA-DUUUM!
Peter snapped forward in his bed, a mangled shout caught somewhere in this throat, never to make it out into the open. His eyes darted to the window which was being battered by rain. Part of him was thankful for the thunder for waking him from his impending nightmare. The other part of him, however, knew that this was almost worse.
FU-FOOM!
Another burst of noise had Peter jumping from his bed and into fighting position, hands balled into fists to keep them from shaking.
The tower was not soundproof. And being so high up, Peter felt the sounds of the storm were the only things that were made to be even louder.
Peter could feel see his veins throbbing with increased blood pressure. He squeezed his eyes shut to try and focus on his breathing, but the darkness behind his eyelids made his mind swim with anxiety.
“There is nothing to fear. There is nothing to fear. I’m safe here. I’m safe here,” Peter whispered to himself.
Logically, Peter knew this was just a harmless storm. He used to love watching them out of the massive windows in the tower. But ever since he came home from being kidnapped, he couldn’t handle it. The noises, the flashes of light, the way the tower seemed sway in the wind, all of it was too much for his heightened senses. The worst of it was, he didn’t know why. Maybe it was because it had been storming the night of his capture, or maybe it was just his PTSD, but either way it was driving him insane.
BARROOOM!
This time, Peter darted out of his room and into the hallway. Instinctually, he wanted to seek out comfort from the only other person in the house: Tony Stark. However, Peter was also trying to hide his fear of thunderstorms from his mentor, and up to this point he thought he had done a pretty damn good job. He had even had Ned hack FRIDAY so she wouldn’t alert Tony when he wasn’t sleeping well. He just didn’t want anyone to worry about him more than they already did. Which was a lot, by the way.
Tony didn’t need anything more weight on his mind, in Peter’s opinion. Despite how he hid behind a mask of sarcasm and sunglasses, Peter knew his mentor blamed himself for the world’s problems and carried that weight on his shoulders at all times. What kind of person would he be to add to that weight?
So, the young superhero padded past the Stark master bedroom and instead went into the kitchen to grab some water. He was about halfway done with his glass when another flash of lightening caused the kitchen-living area to momentarily flicker to life with a blinding white light. He could feel his stomach drop and hairs stand on end in the pitch black that followed, waiting for the room to be filled with sounds of thunder.
WA-BAMM!
CRASH!
Peter dropped his glass to the floor and jumped to the ceiling, whimpering when the glass he was using shattered beneath him. Tears pricked at the corner of his eyes as he crawled into the safety of a corner.
“Peter?”
Tony poked his head up over the back of his luxury couch, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes to help them adjust to the dark as he scanned the room for the spiderling. It wasn’t long before he spotted the human-sized form on the ceiling, huddling in a corner, silently sobbing.
“Oh Pete…”
Before Tony could even get up to go collect his kid, thunder struck again.
BUUU-DUDUMM!
Inhibitions falling, Peter scurried across the ceiling and dropped down on the couch next to Tony, curling up into his side like an infant.
“Dad, I’m sacred…” he mumbled into the genius’ oil-stained shirt, fear completely taking over.
Tony was sure Peter was unaware of what he had called him, but one look into the teen’s desperate, pleading eyes, and Tony decided he would let it be. The title gave him a warm, tingling feeling anyway. He knew in a second, he would be honored to be this kid’s Dad.
So, Tony did what any Dad would do and wrapped his arms around the boy, rubbing circles into his back and told him it would be okay. And they sat like the for the whole duration of the storm, until sobs became sniffles.
Peter was the first to break away, although not far enough that he was out of his mentor’s strong hold.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Stark. I don’t know what came over me,” he said, faced flushed from both crying and embarrassment.
Tony gave him the same concerned eyes and a worried smile that he vaguely remembered from his rescue. The man then ran his hand through the boy’s curls and, in a move that surprised them both, kissed the top of Peter’s head.
“You have nothing to be ashamed of. I know how difficult recovery can be. After Afghanistan…well…I guess you could say storms bothered me too, and I don’t have your senses,” the billionaire admitted.
Peter was shocked.
“Really? Is that why you were sleeping on the couch?” he asked.
“Uhh, actually, I just stay out here because I worry about you…ya know, in case you need me,” Tony answered, looking away a little nervously. He felt exposed, although deep inside knew his kid would never exploit that.
“Oh. I’m sorry,” Peter said quietly.
Tony noticed his guilt sinking in and immediately looked back at the kid and squeezed his arm so Peter would do the same.
“Hey, don’t be sorry. I really don’t mind.”
Peter looked skeptical.
Tony sighed.
“Listen. You are so good, Pete. What happened to me, I deserved that. But you? You do nothing be help people who have no advocate. I am so proud of you and the least I can do is be here when you need me. I’m not particularly good with my emotions but know that just how Iron Man will always look out for Spider-Man, Tony Stark will always look out for Peter Parker. Okay?”
Peter smiled. A genuine smile. Tony could swear it stopped raining in the moment and the room seemed almost brighter.
“I’m here for you too,” Peter said.
Damn this kid was too good.
“It won’t always hurt like this. It’s okay to lean on other people. I guess that’s something I’m still learning too.”
“We’ll get through this, Mr. Stark. Together.”
Tony smiled down at his kid, but a sudden thought turned his sweet smile into a mischievous smirk.
“Don’t you mean ‘Dad’?”
Peter flushed.
“Mrrrr. Starrrkkk.”

Hey I was curious does Gabriel and Walter ever watch movies together or more specifically scary movies? I'm kind of interested to see how they would react to scary movies honestly
I swear, all of you know I can’t help but to write anything slightly suggested to me at this point.
I love these asks though <3 thank you
CW: Whump, held captive, *inhales* parental, creepy, possessive, intimated whumper
masterlist
Gabriel smoothed out every wrinkle on his bed blankets, Walter hated it when anything was messy, especially of his.
*CRACK*
The door slammed open as the hinges sounded like they broke as Walter burst in.
"AAH! Please wait! I'm cleaning it, okay!?'' Gabriel cried, desperately trying to fix the new crinkles he created in his panic.
"Eh?" Walter blinked, watching Gabriel on the verge of tears as he fumbled with a shirt folding it over and over again.
"You're okay, little one, you're not in any trouble. It's movie night!" He cheered.
"It's wha?..." That's when Gabriel noticed Walter was holding a huge bowl of fresh popcorn with a blanket balancing on his shoulders.
"Movie night?" He slowly placed the perfectly folded shirt on the bed. Walter took his arm as Gabriel let out the tiniest of squeaks in surprise as he was led to the living room. The lights were off, the candles were blown as the only light came from the old fuzzy TV illuminating the table in front of it full of snacks and drinks.
“Come on now, let's get you comfortable.” He smiled. He sat Gabriel down on the couch and settled next to him, wrapping his arm around his shoulder to pull him in. Gabriel curled up and trembled against the man's arm, scared and uncomfortable to be forced to lean against someone in such a trusting position-
Someone who held his life from strings like a puppet.
Walter could feel him shaking, he rested his hand against the side of his head to force him to relax even more. He would calm down eventually. He always did.
“Do you get frightened easily?” He murmured, running his fingers through Gabriel’s hair as he flinched when chills ran down his spine. He knew the answer already, it was rare to see Gabriel not a frightened little dove.
“A-.. A little.” Gabriel whimpered back, half burying his face into his shoulder. Walter chuckled as he hit play on the remote, the TV flashed with a burst of color as it showed the title, “The Exorcist”.
Gabriel’s stomach sank even further... He remembered from his childhood his mother would play the same old film late at night as he hid under his bed and cried. Even as an adult, he refused to ever watch it just from those memories alone.
He nervously stuffed popcorn in his mouth as his eyes focused just below the TV, staring at the glint of the shiny buttons slightly reflecting the light from the horror scenes flashing in front of him.
“Oh! Oh, look son! Do you know how they make those fake cuts and blood?” Walter asked with a mouthful of popcorn.
“N-no..” Gabriel murmured. He didn’t really want to know.
“First, they take material and soak it, then-” He goes on and describes in every detail how they make the special effects and fake wounds.
A loud scream and jump scare popped on the screen as Gabriel couldn’t hide his gasp, he flinched violently, instinctively latching on to the closest thing for safety: Walter’s arm.
“Oop! It’s okay little one.” Walter laughed, wrapping his arm around him as he pulled him into a hug.
Another jump scare.
Gabriel was now latched onto his chest clinging onto his soft robe collar. Walter could feel his heart thumping quickly against his chest as he held him in his lap. He couldn’t help but to let a smile crept across his face as he cradled his boy in his arms.
So helpless... So fragile... So innocent... So sweet...
“Do you want to keep watching?” He asked. Gabriel was quick to shake his head no. “Alright, that's okay.” He grunted as he lifted Gabriel back onto his side of the couch. He turned on a lamp as he dug through the old cabinet, gathering several movies and DVD’s still in their plastic containers.
It brought back some fun childhood memories. Gabriel was surprised he still had things like this, but he was talking about a man that still used a record player.
“Come! Come sit down, son. Why don’t you pick one out this time?” He waved as Gabriel slunk to the floor next to him. There were so many movies that brought back nostalgia: The original Superman, Wizard of Oz, Grease.
Gabriel nervously handed him the Wizard of Oz, as Walter ruffled his hair with a smile before setting it up. This time when Gabriel curled up next to him, he wasn’t trembling. He just leaned his cheek against his shoulder as he slowly began to drift off asleep halfway through the movie.
Walter was more infatuated by Gabriel then the movie as he watched the slow rise and fall of his chest, his peaceful expression, his cheek squished against his arm.
Walter pressed a loving kiss into his hair. The night was truly one to cherish.

Just played and found your demo, and looked at the landlord extra, it kind of freaked me out, haha. I’m a scaredy-cat, so I have a couple of questions, sorry, I was just wondering how psychological horror, jump scary it will be? How violent or bloody it will get? Is there magic in this?
Oh I do hate jump scares, sorry that showing the landlord with a gong had that effect! Maybe the gong was too loud; later in development I'll be hiring a sound designer to make sure everything is balanced. (And did I remove the "no wait" effect in the demo? It's definitely removed in the version I have now).
It was meant to be surprising - as it tends to be, when you find an injured man on the verge of collapsing by the garage - but definitely not scary.
I will say that I have no interest in utilizing a screamer -- showing a big image with a very loud screech like Five Nights at Freddy's (I physically cannot even watch someone playing that game, jumpscares give me insomnia) -- and the MC tends to be fairly capable, so when she encounters something surprising she just tends to go what the fuck is wrong with them? and find a way to handle the situation. She won't be like... chased alone through narrow halls by a heavy-breathing zombie, walking into her friend's room to find they had committed s*cide, or anything like that.
There may be moments that are eerie, like the Clammy Woman. There will be situations where the protagonist is in danger and there will be more weird and unsettling characters, but I don't know if it should be described as psychological horror. I like psychological horror more than conventional spooks, but it's not really what I'm going for overall.
It will be pretty violent though! Lot of fights, lot of injuries. It's not gonna be a slasher film, but Warden's burns at the beginning should give you an idea of what to expect there.
And magic.... ... ?? 😂 I'm not sure how it fits into this line of questioning (horror magic??) but there are superpowers that come from people; I probably won't be playing with the paranormal or demons. I do love demons in romance stories (would love to kiss them), but this game is fairly grounded and I don't think paranormal things fit the setting. If you were to encounter monstrous-looking beings in the game, they would be humans who have drawn the short stick on the random superpower lottery.
