She was there. 

So Habit and Douglas booked a room at the public library with catering for my party, which was very sweet of them. And we were drinking and I was telling my birthday stories and Valory was teaching Pam to play Mariokart, I had opened my gifts, and then she showed up.

Gorgeous as ever, with new ear piercings and the same detached heir as always, Jolene was in the library, walking past the window to our room. 

I told Habit I wanted to leave and told him who was here, and he nodded and told everyone at the party he’d be back in a minute. Douglas cast Invisibility on me and he and Habit walked me out the door, then towards the car. As we were walking to my car she came up and asked Habit if he knew someone named Cassidy May and where to find her.

Habit started to say what he later told me was, “You can fuck off and find her up your butthole,” but Douglas cut him off and said “No we don’t. Why are you looking for her?”

“We’re old friends and I haven’t seen her in forever. I tried texting her and she didn’t answer.” 

“There are other ways to get in touch with someone. Or maybe she doesn’t want to talk.”

“Nah,” and then she looked right at where I was standing, “Cassidy always wants to talk to me.”

I’m still shaking just thinking about it. She left after that and Douglas drove me home and offered to stay in case she’d somehow figured out where I lived. I took him up on it and he started asking me about the Avatar of Ice. He told me that it was mostly to take my mind off of Jolene, but that he did need the info for his ballad. Habit showed up later and they both stayed over. 

I can’t believe she just showed up. Why would she do that? How did she figure out where I’d be? And what do I do now?

Chapter 3: ‘Adventure.?’

A few days had passed by, and the 4 cats had noticed the attacks becoming more, and more frequent. Ozzie had to fend off more Hounds than he had the energy for, causing him to arrange a meeting.

“Has anybody else noticed that there are more Hounds?”

Ozzie asks the other 3 calmly, they were sat in a circle under a large oak tree. Chaz, Scab, and Val would all murmur or nod their heads slightly.

Ozzie sighs quietly, before Scab spoke up, his deep voice piercing through everyone’s ears. He never speaks much.

“I’ve seen a Hound mindlessly walking into a cave near the west side, it might mean something.?”

Valorie perked up at that. She hadn’t fully explored the west side yet, so she was thrilled to hear there was something interesting.

“Oh! Cool!”

Val began to excitedly edge away from the circle in the tiniest bit. It was barely noticeable except for Ozzie. Oz would sigh a bit again.

“Right- Val, i can tell you’re eager to see, so, meeting dismissed”,

“Wha-.?”

Chaz spoke up, but he was a few seconds too late. Everybody had left. He hadn’t even had a chance to contribute at all. He’d just stand there, confused, before shrugging and walking down to the river.

I just saw those beautiful pictures of Pripyat's flowers - you are so right @kylos-scarf @litttlesilkworm, roses are Valoris' official flowers 💙🌹💚 (I might be overly obsessed and I don't care 😌.)

I'm imagining Valery and Boris on one of their evening walks, where they talk about everything and nothing, though right now Valery is vigorously explaining the developments in radiation numbers, absent-mindedly caressing the leaves of the roses they are passing.

His fingers. Always busy, Boris observes.

But then Valery stops in his tracks and pulls his hand away as if it'd touched fire. Well, it probably has, Boris guesses. Hot particles...

He feels a pang in his heart. Even beautiful things are a threat now. "Will they survive?" Boris nods towards the bushes.

Valery draws his eyebrows together, another one of those shadows passing over his face. "Some. Maybe. But not like this. Everything will change." His eyes pierce right through Boris, an unspoken question in them.

"Mh." Boris grunts. Valery is right, of course. So many things are and will be lost. But then, surprisingly, some things were also gained.

He looks around, but they are still alone. "Not all changes are bad, though," he argues and reaches for Valery's hand.

Quick rundown of my fallout protagonist ocs. These are a bit rambly and chaotic, but i might eventually make proper profiles on all of them.

Fallout 1: Alex, aka ‘13′. Agender, he/him. they/them and it/its. Didn’t really want to go out into the wasteland, but when he did he decided this was his chance to redefine himself as something greater than the nobody they were in the vault. Always seeks the kind solution and sees violence as a last resort, but that doesn’t mean it’s helpless.

Fallout 2: Alex, aka the Chosen One. Trans woman, she/her and very rarely they/them. Looks nearly identical to Alex the first, and was raised since birth in the position of Chosen One even before the crisis of fallout 2 happened. This has lead to her being incredibly loyal to her tribe and striving to mimic a grandfather she barely remembers. Once she hits her stride out in the wasteland though, she realizes that she is capable of shaping her own destiny, and stepping out of her ancestor’s shadow.

Fallout 3: Sam, aka Shadow. Genderfluid, any pronouns. Sam loathed every second in Vault 101 and longed for the day they could see the sunlight. The second they escaped they ran as far away as they could and tried to make a new life for themself. Unfortunately, the plot of fallout 3 had to happen. Chaotic neutral bastard, but is not needlessly cruel. Big on body modifications, whether that be piercings, tattoos, or even cybernetic upgrades. The whole ‘dying in the water purifier’ thing really fucked them up on all levels; they immediately fled west, eventually reaching new vegas shortly after the events of fnv. They then met and entered into a strange relationship with the Courier, becoming their right hand.

Fallout New Vegas: Courier 6, aka the Neon Devil of New Vegas. Doesn’t subscribe to human notions of gender and thus goes by any pronouns, it’s whatever. Courier 6 is the literal, divine embodiment of the Mojave, born when the shift caused by the nuclear apocalypse caused their previous incarnation to die. They see the events of fnv as a ‘catalyst’ event that will gain them attention, which they plan to turn into worship to become a more powerful deity. Despite that, they are an incredibly kind and benevolent person, and seek the safety and well-being of all the inhabitants of the Mojave.

Fallout 4: I actually have three for this one. Somehow.

Nathan Sol: Like in the game, he previously served in the military, and was honorably discharged after an incident that cost him his left arm. Nate enjoys the small-scale tasks involved in helping people, like building things or cooking. He and Nora are high school sweethearts.

Nora Sol: Also served in the military, and used it to cover the costs of going to law school. She and Nathan weren’t together while she was in college, due to disagreements over the military; Nora saw it as a necessary but unpleasant step towards getting what she wanted (a degree), while Nathan actually believed in the cause. Anyway, once she left college and Nathan was discharged, they found each other again and got together, eventually having Shaun. Nora struggled with postpartum depression and failed to bond with Shaun, and before this could change the bombs dropped. Nora has a much better head for large-scale logistics and is responsible for running the settlements as a whole.

Valory Harlin: Nora’s younger sister, Valory has always had a chaotic streak and a disregard for authority. She briefly disappeared for several months before showing up on the Sol’s doorstep a week before the bombs dropped. After the war, she finds she doesn’t want to get tied down by the settlements, and sets off into the Commonwealth, eventually finding and taking over Nuka World. Despite this, she and Nora remain on friendly terms; Valory is very loyal to her family, and does her best to keep the raiders from doing too much damage.

Fallout 76: Victor Darling. Trans male, he/him. I haven’t played any of 76 so fuck the plot. Anyway, Victor was a field scientist before the war, and studied biology. He was unable to transition while in the vault, since he couldn’t leave if things went south. The day before the Vault opened, he had his friend and crush Niko Avery  perform top surgery on him. Unfortunately, the day after, Niko disappeared out into the Wasteland, along with all the other residents of the vault. The driving force of Victor’s journey is to find his lost love and ask him out, and also catalogue as much of the new wasteland wildlife as possible. Victor heavily leans into mad scientist vibes, cuz hey, the world ended, go ahead and wear that lab coat 24/7.

there’s more to all of them but this post has gotten too long so. oh well.
