The justice league were at their wits ends as Klarion had been reaking havoc for 8 and half months for some apparent reasons that even the villains had no idea why he was so upsets.
To the point they had Constantine who look like he went through fresh hell and was covered in a splattered of glowing green goop from head to toe (lararus pits..?), who just started writing on the floor in every star like constellation as he started chanting in the song to.. space is so cool?!?!
Only for it to actually work, as line white gloved like hand pull itself out going from eldritch horror to form itsslf into to a very pissed, and very pregnant looking floating..boy??
"KLARION, You %&#&×*$ #&@!!!" Shouted floating boy who just.. wait did he crossed the protection barrier around the summoning circle...?!?
Only for one of the bat, probably Tim to noticed klarion getting his ass grassed into the literal ground by this very pissed off entity.
"Look what you did to me, sweet gone with the wind jerk and not one message returned?!?!?
Most of the males in the Justice league and Villain group flinched when this obvious pissed off pregnant entity kicked klarion directly in the mother pearls.
As they slowly realized one thing all together.
oh... OH,.. Oh No..
Meanwhile Jason is in a chair with glowing green covered popcorn with Dani at his apartment watching this on live TV.
"Should we tell danny that Lex was taking klarion's mail for 8 months due to them being ectoplasm concentrated covered..?" Jason said as he munched on popcorn, watching mostly danny beating the absolute soul of poor klarion who is obviously didn't realize his danny was pregnant the entire time.
"Nah, let danny take his frustration out first, it only fair for him considering klarion owed him for forgetting their anniversary." Dani said eating a bucket of fudge brownies.

Prevalence of Unplanned Pregnancies and their Associated Factors among Antenatal Clinic Attendees in Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat Division, Colombo, Sri Lanka in Open Access Journal of Medical and Clinical Surgery by Praveen Shankar Nagendran
Tumblr media
Abstract
Unplanned pregnancies are a major public health issue globally causing poor maternal and foetal outcomes. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of unplanned pregnancies & their associated factors among antenatal clinic attendees in Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat Division, Colombo, Sri Lanka. A cross-sectional study was conducted in three randomly selected antenatal clinics of the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat Division of the Colombo Municipal Council. A total of 425 antenatal mothers were included in the study using a consecutive sampling method. Data collection was done using interviewer-administered questionnaires. Statistical analysis was done using the Chi-Square test, Odds Ratio and 95% confidence interval. The prevalence of unplanned pregnancies was 32.7% in the study population. The 95 % confidence interval was 28.26 – 37.39. Being married, the mother being employed in the preceding 12 months, the number of past conceptions being two or less & intake of folic acid before pregnancy had statistically significant associations with planned pregnancies at 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05). Marital age less than 20 years, highest education level of the mother being less than Grade 11, highest education level of the spouse being less than Grade 11, monthly household income of less than LKR 25,000, the interpregnancy interval of fewer than 24 months, using family planning practices in the past, never wanting or expecting the current pregnancy and not planning for another pregnancy had statistically significant associations with unplanned pregnancies at 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05). According to the study, one-third of the pregnancies were unplanned & a statistical significance at 95% confidence interval was seen between the planning status of the current pregnancy and twelve of the eighteen variables studied.
Keywords: Prevalence, unplanned pregnancies, associated factors, antenatal mothers, Sri Lanka
Introduction
Data on prevalence is important to help in resource allocation and prioritisation of activities by relevant stakeholders. The prevalence data would also help to identify the magnitude of the problem related to unplanned pregnancies in a given population under study by assessing its overall burden. It would also support the process of identification of priorities in healthcare, preventive activities and policymaking which is needed to develop a health economics model to address issues related to unplanned pregnancies.
There is a lack of recent data on the prevalence of unplanned pregnancies in this study population in an urban community setting in Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat Division which falls under the Colombo Municipal Council. It is important to identify associated factors for any public health problem, as it would provide data on the most important associated factors to be addressed and would help to prioritise them. Identifying and addressing associated factors for unplanned pregnancies among the targeted population would improve their sexual and reproductive health and help to implement necessary interventions and provide health-related services on unplanned pregnancies.
Lay Summary
This study is a retrospective chart review of the electronic medical records of 68 patients diagnosed with acute appendicitis (AA) and admitted to the general surgery department of Dubai Hospital, UAE, for conservative or surgical management of acute appendicitis between March 1 and December 31, 2020. Conservative treatment was defined as treatment with antibiotics and supportive management alone. Ethical approval was obtained from the Dubai Scientific Research Ethics Committee (DSREC). Patients admitted within this time period without a nasopharyngeal RT-PCR swab for COVID-19 on admission were excluded from the study. All demographic, clinical, radiological, and laboratory data was retrieved from the SALAMA electronic file system.
Variables evaluated for each patient include: age, sex, COVID-19 status, modality of management (conservative or operative), incidence of complications, type of surgical technique if managed operatively (open or laparoscopic appendicectomy), past medical and drug history, presence of pre-existing comorbidities, smoking status, preoperative vital signs (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure), radiological findings on chest x-ray if COVID-19 positive, preoperative laboratory markers, and length of hospital stay. The data was entered into the data collection tool (Microsoft Excel spreadsheet), exported, and analyzed in SPSS Version 22 software using Fisher’s exact test. The analysis was carried out in accordance with the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) guidelines for observational studies.

Introduction
Unplanned pregnancies: Pregnancies can be broadly divided into planned/wanted pregnancies and unplanned pregnancies. Unplanned pregnancy is a major public health issue the world over. In unplanned pregnancies, conception has occurred not at the desired time and was expected later or was never expected or wanted.
Associated factors for unplanned pregnancies: The common cause of unplanned pregnancies has been identified as not using contraception or due to not using a contraceptive method consistently or correctly or both [1]. Marital age, marital status, age at first pregnancy, education level of the couple, employment status of the mother, monthly household income, interpregnancy interval, disrupted marital life and gender-based issues are some of the factors associated with unplanned pregnancies [2].
Adverse outcomes of unplanned pregnancies: Unplanned pregnancies have been a major cause of induced abortions the world over and have been linked to poor maternal and child health outcomes causing an increased risk of abortion-related death and morbidity, especially in countries where abortion is illegal [3]. Women with unplanned pregnancies are more vulnerable to committing suicide, have poor nutrition during gestation, and have adverse mental health issues, unstable family relationships, experience physical and psychological violence, risk of bad pregnancy outcomes and delay in seeking prenatal care [4].
The children born of mothers with unplanned pregnancies are at risk for low birth weight, poor academic performance, violence and neglect [5]. These children are exposed to greater risk factors, hence are more likely to experience negative psychological and physical health issues, increased school dropouts and tend to show delinquent behaviour during their adolescent period. A study conducted in Australia showed higher levels of depression, delinquency and anxiety among children born out of unplanned pregnancies as compared to planned pregnancies [6].
The global situation on unplanned pregnancies: Unplanned pregnancies can negatively affect women physically, emotionally and financially. Effective, equitable and easier access to effective contraception methods, especially to long-acting reversible contraception, would certainly help to address this issue of public health concern [7].
Between 2015 to 2019, there had been 121 million unplanned pregnancies annually the world over (80% confidence interval of 112.8-131.5) which corresponds to a global rate of 64 unplanned pregnancies per 1000 women aged 15 - 49 years. Out of this amount, 61% of the unplanned pregnancies ended in abortions, which accounts for an abortion rate of 39 abortions per 1000 women aged 15 - 49 years [8]. According to the latest estimates by the World Health Organisation, almost half the pregnancies between 2015 to 2019 in low and low middle-income countries had been unplanned. Women living in the poorest regions are almost three times likely to have unplanned pregnancies than women from wealthier regions [9].
Sri Lankan situation on unplanned pregnancies
In Sri Lanka, approximately 360,000 women become pregnant annually, of which one in three (33.3%) are estimated to have an unplanned pregnancy. Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) of 2016 reports that 35% of married women in Sri Lanka do not use any form of contraception and teenage pregnancies are around 4.6% [10]. Approximately 150,000 to 175,000 abortions are expected to take place annually in Sri Lanka [11], with no recent data indicating any decrease. According to the National Post Abortion Care Guideline of 2015, unsafe abortion is responsible for 10% to 13% of maternal deaths in Sri Lanka, making it the second leading cause of maternal mortality in the country (Family Health Bureau, 2015). In 2017, approximately 326,000 live births had taken place in Sri Lanka, along with 127 reported maternal deaths in that same year. Among the 127 maternal deaths, 28 were due to unplanned pregnancies (Family Health Bureau, 2015). Another study concluded that 23.3% of pregnancies in Sri Lanka were unplanned [12].
Methods
A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted between April 2020 and January 2021 in three randomly Medical Officer of Health areas in the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat Division of the Colombo Municipal Council. A total of 425 antenatal mothers who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Any antenatal mother who had difficulties in hearing the questions asked or difficulties in speaking in response to the questions asked by the interviewer, antenatal mothers residing in that area for less than six months duration and mothers who visited the clinics while being registered in antenatal clinics not belonging to the study setting were excluded from the study. The sample size was calculated using the formula by Lwanga & Lemeshow [13]. Since the exact prevalence of the main outcome variable (prevalence of unplanned pregnancies) is not available and since there were no recent (within 5 years) literature or studies done on this topic in this setting, prevalence (p) was assumed as 50% to calculate the sample size.
The consecutive sampling method was used and the final sample size included 425 antenatal mothers from three antenatal clinics in the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat. There were no nonresponders as all antenatal mothers who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were willing to participate in the study. Interviewer administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Construction of the interviewer-administered questionnaire was done by doing a thorough literature review and analysing the variables and associated factors for unplanned pregnancies. Pre-testing of the questionnaire was done at the antenatal clinic in Slave Island which belongs to the Colombo Divisional Secretariat Division of the Colombo Municipal Council. Following the pretesting, some questions were modified to make it more easily understood by antenatal mothers with basic educational levels by reducing scientific and technical terms. Prior permission had been obtained from relevant authorities to carry out this study. On each day of data collection, the principal investigator clearly explained the purpose of the study to the antenatal mothers in the waiting area of the clinic. Thereafter information sheets were distributed for further information. Subsequently, consent forms were given to obtain written consent from mothers willing to participate in the study who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Duplication of data was prevented by taking note of the pregnancy record registration numbers of antenatal mothers who had attended the clinic during the previous week or weeks.
Interviewer bias was nil as only the principal investigator was involved in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Recall bias was kept to a minimum by asking the antenatal mothers about their most recent pregnancies. Perusing pregnancy records for additional information on the current pregnancy was used to minimise information bias. Selection bias was kept to a minimum, as all antenatal mothers attending the respective antenatal clinics on the day of data collection, who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included in the study. The reliability of the questionnaire was checked by translating it from English to Sinhala and Tamil and then translating it back to English. Statistical analysis of the data was done using Chi-Square testing and p values at a 95% confidence interval. Odds Ratio was used to assess the strength of association between the planning status of the pregnancy and its associated factors. Data analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.
Ethical clearance was obtained from the Ethics Review Committee of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka (Approval Number: ERC/PGIM/2020/091).
There was no lack in antenatal care for the study participants by withdrawing from data collection. Data collection was carried out thus maintaining the privacy of the participant while giving them all the necessary information about the study. They had full control over their decision-making ability, autonomy and enrolment in the study. The knowledge obtained from the data collection was only used for research purposes and all study participants were made aware of it. There are no conflicts of interest.
Results
The total sample size was 425 and there were no non responders as all participants were willing to join the study. The age distribution was between 15 to 44 years. The age group of 22 to 34 years included 83.2% of the total study population. There were 37.2% Sinhalese, 33.9% Moors and 28.9% Tamils in the study sample. The prevalence of unplanned pregnancies was 32.7% in the study population. The 95 % confidence interval was 28.26 – 37.39. Being married (p = <0.05, OR = 3.08, CI. = 1.15-8.3), mother being employed in the preceding 12 months (p = <0.001, OR = 4.18, CI. = 2.32-7.53), number of past conceptions being two or less (p = <0.05, OR = 2.1, CI. = 1.06-4.12), intake of folic acid before pregnancy (p = <0.001, OR = 2.27, CI. = 1.5-3.43) had statistically significant associations with planned pregnancies at 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05). Marital age less than 20 years (p = <0.001, OR = 0.3, CI. = 0.19-0.47), highest education level of mother being less than Grade 11 (p = < 0.001, OR = 0.42, CI. = 0.25-0.68), highest education level of spouse being less than Grade 11 (p = <0.05, OR = 0.48, CI. = 0.29-0.79), monthly household income of less than LKR 25,000 (p = <0.001, OR = 0.47, CI. = 0.31-0.72), interpregnancy interval of less than 24 months (p = <0.001, OR = 0.25, CI. = 0.12-0.53), using family planning practices in the past (p = <0.05, OR = 0.62, CI. = 0.4-0.94), never wanting or expecting the current pregnancy (p = <0.001, OR = 0.02, CI. = 0.0096-0.064) and not planning for another pregnancy (p = <0.001, OR = 0.31, CI. = 0.2-0.47) had statistically significant associations with unplanned pregnancies at 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05).
Being less than 20 years of age at first pregnancy (OR = 0.67, CI. = 0.36-1.24), contraception use in the month of pregnancy (OR = 0.57, CI. = 0.32-1.05), time of first antenatal clinic registration within 12 weeks of gestation (OR = 1.5, CI. = 0.88-2.56), number of children expected after marriage being two or less (OR = 1.04, CI. = 0.61-1.74), having home visits by health care workers during antenatal period (OR = 0.79, CI. = 0.53-1.19) and mother visiting the hospital for any other medical condition during the pre-pregnancy period (OR = 0.66, CI. = 0.39-1.13) did not show any statistically significant association with planning status of the current pregnancy at 95% confidence interval (p > 0.05).
Discussion
Unplanned pregnancy is either unwanted, such as one that occurs when there are no other children or when no further children are desired, or the pregnancy was mistimed, with the baby arriving earlier than expected (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, 2021). The prevalence of unplanned pregnancies in the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat Division of the Colombo Municipal Council was 32.7% (139 out 425 study participants) and the 95 % confidence interval was 28.26 – 37.39.  There is a statistically significant association between the planning status of the current pregnancy and the marital status of the mother at a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05). Being married is three times more likely to have a planned pregnancy (OR = 3.08, 95% CI: 1.15-8.3). Similar findings were seen in studies conducted in South Africa and Kenya. In South Africa, those married or living with their partners are more likely to have planned pregnancies and a significant association between marital status and unplanned pregnancies (p < 0.001) was seen [14].
There is a statistically significant association between the planning status of the current pregnancy and marital age at a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.001). Marital age of fewer than 20 years is 70% less likely to be associated with a planned pregnancy (OR = 0.3. 95% CI: 0.19-0.47). In a study done in Kenya, the prevalence of unplanned pregnancies was 51% between the ages of 15 and 19 years and 31% between the ages of 20 and 22 years [15].
The association between the planning status of the current pregnancy and the highest maternal education is statistically significant at a 95 % confidence interval (p < 0.001). The highest education level of the mother being less than Grade 11 shows a 58% less likelihood of having a planned pregnancy (OR = 0.42, 95% CI: 0.25-0.68). A sub–Saharan African multi-country analysis of the Demographic and Health Surveys of 29 countries showed that women with primary (OR = 0.74, CI = 0.69–0.80) and secondary (OR = 0.71, CI = 0.65–0.77) levels of education had fewer chances of unplanned pregnancies as compared to women with no education (Ameyaw et al., 2019). A statistically significant association between the planning status of the current pregnancy and maternal employment in the last 12 months is seen at a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.001). The antenatal mother being employed in the preceding 12 months has a four-time likelihood of having a planned pregnancy (OR = 4.18, 95% CI: 2.32-7.53). Similar findings were seen in a study done in Western Iran where unplanned pregnancies were 5.08 times more among housewives (p < 0.001) as compared to employed women [16].
There is a statistically significant association between the planning status of the current pregnancy and the husband’s education at a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05). The highest education level of the spouse being less than Grade 11 is 52% less likely to have a planned pregnancy with his spouse (OR = 0.48, 95% CI: 0.29-0.79). There were more spouses among the planned pregnancy group who had completed Tertiary education as compared to the unplanned pregnancy category. Unplanned pregnancies were less common and least likely to occur (p < 0.05) among women who had husbands with some College or University education according to a study done in Southern Ethiopia [17]. There is a statistically significant association at a 95% confidence interval between the planning status of the current pregnancy and monthly household income (p < 0.001). Antenatal mothers having a monthly household income of less than LKR 25,000 are 53% less likely to have planned pregnancies (OR = 0.47, 95% CI: 0.31-0.72). Poor household income has been shown to cause unplanned pregnancies (p < 0.001) with an odds ratio of 1.7 in a study conducted in Canada [18].
There is a statistically significant association between the planning status of the current pregnancy and the interpregnancy interval of the mother at a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.001) in this study. Having an interpregnancy interval of fewer than 24 months has a 75% less likelihood of having a planned pregnancy (OR = 0.25, 95% CI: 0.12-0.53). The National Survey of Family Growth conducted in the United States of America showed that of the 40% of unplanned pregnancies, 36% had an interpregnancy interval of fewer than 18 months. It also concluded that as the interpregnancy interval increased, the prevalence of unplanned pregnancies decreased [19]. The association between the planning status of the current pregnancy and the timing of folic acid intake is statistically significant at a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.001). Antenatal mothers who had consumed folic acid before the current pregnancy have more than twice the chance of having a planned pregnancy (OR = 2.27, 95% CI: 1.5-3.43). A study done in the United States of America showed that women who said that their pregnancies were planned are more likely to confirm taking folic acid in the preconception period, with an odds ratio of 3.7 (95% confidence interval: 2.38 – 5.56) after controlling for maternal age and income [20].
A statistically significant association is seen at a 95% confidence interval between the planning status of the current pregnancy and the number of past conceptions (p < 0.05). Having less than two past conceptions is twice as more likely to have a planned pregnancy (OR = 2.1, 95% CI: 1.6-4.12). A case-control study in Western Iran revealed a significant association between unplanned pregnancies and previous live births (p < 0.001), with risk increasing by 2.97 per one already living child. A statistically significant association is not seen between the planning status of the current pregnancy and maternal age at birth of the first child at a 95% confidence interval (p > 0.05). In a community-based cross-sectional study done in Nepal, 60.5% of unplanned pregnancies were among women who had delivered their first child at or before they were 20 years of age [21]. As only mothers having at least one live birth were considered, and a significant amount of the study population (204 out of 425) were either having their first pregnancy or not having a live birth in the past, a statistically significant association with the planning status of the current pregnancy was not found.
There is no statistically significant association between the planning status of the current pregnancy and the time of first antenatal clinic registration by the antenatal mothers at a 95 % confidence interval (p > 0.05). Though there is no statistically significant association in this study, a systematic review and meta-analysis done in 2013 on the effects of pregnancy intention on the use of antenatal care services showed that a significantly higher number of women with unplanned pregnancies not attending their first antenatal care clinics on time as compared to women with planned pregnancies (Odds ratio: 1.42, 95% confidence interval: 1.27 – 1.59) [22]. In the above systematic review, the median duration of pregnancy at the time of the first antenatal clinic registration by the pregnant mother was five months, as compared to Sri Lanka, where antenatal mothers register by 12 weeks. The meta-analysis included only 32 articles though 422 were initially identified through searches and was conducted in a rural population in Ethiopia as compared to this study which was done in an urban setting. These could be reasons for the difference in the findings between this study and the systematic review [23,24] Table 1.
There is no statistically significant association at a 95% confidence interval between the planning status of the current pregnancy and home visits by health care workers in the antenatal period (p > 0.05). According to data from the Family Health Bureau, the percentage of pregnant women having at least one home visit by a Public Health Midwife (PHM) was 91.9% (Family Health Bureau, 2015). As most antenatal mothers in Sri Lanka receive at least one home visit during their antenatal period by a health care worker, there is no statistically significant association with the planning status of pregnancy.

It didn't mean anything, Steve told himself.
Sure, he spent his heats with Eddie all the time, built his nest with Eddie's clothes, lived under Eddie's roof, and well, fell in love the morning Eddie made him breakfast.
Steve was a fool.
Because Eddie had told him point blank when they first met that the alpha didn't do relationships, much less want a serious one.
Even when they had been waking up in the same bed for years, it still didn't mean anything.
Heartbreak was an old friend, one that Steve wished he never met but still welcomed anyway. And loving Eddie was a bittersweet thing that he couldn't seem to give up.
Every moment Eddie looked at him, smiled at him, and touched him, his heart would break a little, knowing none of that would ever be his.
Even a fool would learn his own lesson, but Steve never did.
He let himself be swept away in the warmth and protection Eddie provided him, and then, he would berate himself for falling too fast and caring too much.
It was pointless, however, when he kept letting Eddie claim him in every sense of the world but the right way.
Steve stared at the positive pregnancy test in his hand and trembled. Tears welled up in his eyes as he tried to think up something to make the cold dread go away.
His first thought was that he would have to leave Eddie to keep the new life inside him. And didn't that sound depressing?
But Steve considered it anyway because he loved his pup more than anything. And since he always listened to his stupid heart, he intended to do so again.
“Let's end this,” he said bluntly once they were done with dinner.
“End what?” Eddie raised an eyebrow at him.
“End this,” Steve gestured between them vaguely. “Whatever that’s been going on here.”
“No.”
Steve was taken aback at the alpha’s stormy face and flat tone.
“No? What do you mean No?”
Eddie stood up and rounded the table to cage him in his chair. Eyes dark and scent thickened, the man leaned down to whisper into his ear.
“It means you're not gonna leave me after I put a pup inside you.”
Steve’s breath hitched in astonishment. “You knew?”
“I planned it,” Eddie said calmly while holding his gaze. “Remember this: You're mine, now and forever.”
“But you don't do relationships–”
“But I do want a family,” Eddie stroked his cheek tenderly. “And I want it with you.”
Steve bit his lip until he tasted blood. This was foolish. He shouldn't–
“Put the bite on me.”
Smiling, Eddie leaned in to nose at his bonding gland.
And then bit down.

Kind of random but I am a huge fan of alien impregnation and I have really been thinking about making the pregnancy role play alien related.
For example, maybe the pregnancy is the result of a random hookup at a club. It should be impossible due to me being on birth control but I end up pregnant. I eventually decide to go through with the pregnancy but as it progresses, I start to feel that this pregnancy is not as normal as I once thought.

Thinking about how it's an actual part of Genshin Impact's worldbuilding that Fontainians were physically incapable of having unplanned pregnancies before the end of the 4.2 Archon Quest
If a couple didn't go to the Fountain of Lucine and ask to be blessed with a child, unintentionally doing a ritual that brought a new Oceanid into being, they literally could not have a baby.
But now, Neuvillette turned them into "true humans"

Just sketches RELATED to an idea that I had suddenly, and that maybe will happen in my fanfic.
Yes, in my head canon/fanfic they are both fallen angels, why? Because in biblical mythology these were the ones who originated the demons, and Zestial is as old as the earth, so…yeah. The pilot gave me the idea.

His heart cried while his anger overcomes his feelings of remorse. "you're so damn stubborn! We are not discussing this any further!"
"oh so that's it?! You get hurt and it's nothing" He walks away from her to the bat-mobile. "we are still talking about this Bruce!" he gets in putting his cowl on "if you drive away don't expect to sleep with me tonight or any other night!" she threatened with a cry.
"fine with me" he scoffed with a, grunt and then shuts the door.
The tires skid as he leaves. Y/N kicked the ground pissed. Early in the morning. She couldn't sleep last night, Bruce didn't even bother trying to sleep. She had stayed in the gust room unable to be around Bruce after their fight. She sits on the chair in the dining room. She hears Bruce hitting his fork on his plate abruptly. She couldn't make herself look at him. They had grown distant and cold over the last few weeks. The fight was the last straw to send them into turmoil with each other. It hadn't been this bad since he lied to her about Grayson's death. They had grown busy with their lives, patrol and work. Everything seemed to pulling them apart.
"is everything alright amongst you both?" Alfred asked bringing Mrs Wayne her coffee.
"were fine Alfred" Bruce said with a angered grunt.
Fine?! She needed to get away from him. She raises from her chair. She walked away and slammed the door to her current bedroom. She hears the door to Bruce's study slam shut. That's when she feels a tear roll down her face.
"Mommmmmy.. Are you ok?" Stephanie asked through the door
"things seem pretty heated between you and B" Jay said
"can we do anything for you?" Duke offered
"talk to us Ma" Tim pleaded
She takes a shaky breath and then clears her throat. "I'm ok my loves don't worry"
That night she laid in the guest room. She sighed heavily she hated absolutely hated fighting with him. She can't sleep.. She keeps thinking about Bruce and her fighting. She hears her window door opening. She sighs heavily, she really didn't want him to see her like this.
"I don't want to see you right now B"
"mother?" Damian softly said.
"hey mom, you ok?" Grayson asked right by his little brother. He turns to shut the window.
She sit upward turning the lamp on "oh hi Damian, hi Grayson. I'm sorry boys.. I didn't know it was you. I'm ok"
"what happened between you and Father?" Damian asked entering the room.
"seems like it was a pretty bad fight" Grayson sympathized, he knew from when he was Robin. If Mom was sleeping in a different bed things were really bad.
"oh.. It's, ok. We're just... Just.. Not happy with each other right now" she sighed defeated.
"is it something I did?" Damian asked
"oh no! No.. It's just.. It's going to be OK son" she assured him.
Damian laid beside her and rest his head on her shoulder. Grayson stands by the bed and lays the covers on them. He holds her hand to comfort her. It was so hard to hide how she's feeling. Especially to her older children.
"I gotta go drag Babs into bed or she'll be up for too long again, sleep well mom. Night Dami, night Ma" Grayson kindly said
"thanks son" she mumbled
It'd now been 5 miserable days. Bruce sighed looking at the wedding photo that was on his desk. He had to fix this before there was too much distance between the two of them. His heart was heavy as he craved to be near Y/N. He walked to the room she had been staying in. He didn't see her and her purse was gone. There was a box of Crackers on her nightstand. He smelled vomit? Why would she be going out if she is sick? He stepped into the bathroom. The room was clean. He looked in the medicine cabinet to make sure she was taking proper medication. Bruce nearly gasps from shock. He holds the special vitamins. He softly smiled. That night he told the children that their room was strictly off limits. He prepared their room for a elegant evening. Alfred helped of course. Bruce laid freshly made platter on the bed. He had their wine glasses placed on the platter and the bottle in the bucket of ice. Just as he was finished, he hears Y/N stepping to the room. He opens the door taking her hand and gently pulls her in the room. She was startled and then completely surprised.
"Bruce.. You--I.. I can't believe" she nearly burst into tears.
"I want to be a better husband to you" he pleaded kissing her temple.
He guides his wife to the bed. Her face was full of emotional joy. He adjusted the pillows for her. He holds her hand as she sits down. Bruce moved to sit on the other side of the bed. He takes a wine bottle and he moved to pour it into her glass. Her heart raced. She has to tell him.
"I think I may just have water...."
"really? This is your favorite flavor" he shows her the bottle label. Non-alcoholic f/f wine.
She smiled softly "but, don't you want?.. "
He pours the wine in both glasses "I could use a break"
"you know! I can't believe you know! I promise you that I was going to tell you"
"I know" he softly smiled
Bruce reaches his hand out to hold her face, he softly smiled she looks so beautiful so full of love, he wants to embrace her "29 days ago you were almost killed. You weren't br-breathing, your heart stopped.. Y/N" he sighed letting out a deep breath as he couldn't fight how truly terrible he felt "20 days ago on a cold night in Paris we had outstanding sex" he smirks kissing her knuckles, to which she softly laughed at his words. He rubs her temple tenderly "that night... I was terrified that the closer you stood by me.. The more danger you were in. I was wrong" she began to cry, he kisses her forehead "I was angry and... I was scared. I took it out on you, forgive me?" he holds both of her hands
"Bruce" she kisses his lips covering his heart in warmth of security "please.. Don't... Don't ever push me away again"
He reaches embracing her, the moment caused his breath to be stolen. She was still here. She still forgave him.
"I will never ever do this to you again. I will try my hardest to be the one you deserve... Are you hungry?"
She laughed with tears hugging him tightly "you have no idea"

The Life I Didn't Know
Fandom: Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick, Mickey "Fanboy" Garcia, f!reader Summary: Mickey Garcia thought returning to Top Gun was the most life-changing thing to ever happen to him. And that was before a ghost from his past confronted him on the tarmac. What you tell him next will change both how he views his past and his vision for his future. Word Count: 4591 TW: Lies, Secret Reveals, Hidden Child, Ghosting, Confessions; Unplanned Pregnancy; Reader is a Mom Note: Written for day 12 of @whumpthemusical's event for "Unplanned Pregnancy" from Waitress. Thank you to @musings-of-a-rose for your ask that inspired this fic 🥰 I'm just sorry it's taken almost 10 months to finish (but I guess it fits thematically 😂). And thank you to @topguncortez and @lorecraft for beta reading for me! 💕

Mickey Garcia always expected the greatest honor of his career would be when he was accepted into Top Gun. However, he never imagined he would be chosen to return as one of the best of the best a few years later. Yet he had done it! Selected along with his pilot and close friend, Payback, as one of the few to train for a top-secret mission. It was a dream come true.
He met most of the other aviators the night before at the Hard Deck, and with one possible exception, everyone seemed very nice and supportive. Then, after the debriefing this morning, he was excited—if a little nervous—about the next few weeks of training. He still can’t believe he was selected as a potential member of the mission. He doesn’t have high expectations for being chosen, but he is still going to try his very best.
After running back out to his car to grab some paperwork, he’s heading for the row of hangars so he can meet Payback to prep their plane for their first practice, a wide grin spread across his face. The fact he is about to fly in a training dogfight with Maverick—the Maverick—still feels like a dream to him. It feels like he’s being trained by Han Solo or Captain Kirk! He is a legend that other legends look up to and Mickey had never imagined he would get an opportunity like this. Could this day get any better?
Mickey should have known better than to send something like that into the universe.
As he reaches the tarmac, Mickey suddenly stumbles to a stop and his face drops as he catches sight of the ghost from his past standing in the way, almost as if waiting for him. But it’s impossible. He double-checked the roster ten times just to make sure there was no chance you were going to be here.
And yet here you are. Five—almost six—years older but still the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.
“Falcon…”
You worry your lip between your teeth just like you used to when you got nervous or were deep in thought, but your eyes shine brightly when your callsign slipped from his lips. “Hey there, Fanboy.”
Oh, God… that voice. Instantly, a thousand memories flash through Mickey’s mind: the first time he laid eyes on you at boot camp with your brilliant smile and Death Star tattoo; flying with you as his pilot, and how he instantly knew he never wanted to fly with anyone else; you dubbing him Fanboy after seeing him nearly burst into tears after running into William Shatner in a coffee shop and him naming you Falcon after the iconic Star Wars ship; all the stolen, secret moments and rendezvous as your friendship blossomed into something deeper despite the risk of Command finding out; the morning he found your letter left on his bunk saying you had transferred and had already left without a warning or a goodbye.
With a Herculean effort, Mickey pulls himself together enough to ask, “Wha…. What are you doing here?”
“I work here. I’ve been an instructor at Top Gun for the past two years.” Your leg is bouncing slightly and you keep clenching and unclenching your hands. “I guess you were in the class the year before I started, but I was so proud when I heard you made it. Of course, I always knew you could.”
Instructors. Mickey groans softly to himself. He had been so focused on what other aviators  had been recruited for the mission it never crossed his mind to check who the instructors would be. But it’s too late to do anything about it now.
“So, does that mean you’ll be teaching me?” It’s hard enough seeing you standing before him. But if he has to see you on a daily basis, listen to your lessons, follow your orders…there is no way he’ll make it the next three weeks.
Luckily, you shake your head. “No, it’s all top secret and I don’t have the clearance. I’m not even sure what your mission is. All they’ve told us is that they need the best of the best in the hopes of completing it, so I wasn’t surprised to see your name on the list. I never flew better than with you in my backseat.”
Mickey silently sighs in relief before he jams his hands in his pockets and coldly asks, “If you don’t have anything to do with my mission, what do you want, Falcon? After you disappeared for almost six years, I don’t really have anything I want to say to you. I think it’s better if we keep things the way you wanted it and just pretend the other doesn’t exist.”
He starts to walk around you, but you step in front of him, holding up your hand to block his retreat. “Is that really what you think I did? Left and never gave you another thought? Because you’re wrong. I think about you every single day, Mickey. And I haven’t been able to get into a plane without you in my head. No matter who I’m flying with, your voice is in my headset giving me directions, or doing systems checks, or failing to stump me with random trivia about another movie or tv show just like it used to be.” You take a deep breath as you let your hand drop to your side. “But maybe if I didn’t care, it would make all of this easier. I–”
You are close to tears as your voice trembles with every word, but Mickey is having none of it. “No! Uh uh. You don’t get to do that. You don’t get to act like you’re the one who was hurt here,” he says, jamming his finger accusingly at you. “You’re the one who put in for a transfer without even talking to me about it first, so don’t act like you’re the victim. One day, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, flying with the woman I love at the stick, and the next, I wake up to a note telling me you’d left to fly with another unit. No explanation. No nothing. I never even got to say goodbye! You just disappeared from my life and you took my heart with you. But you never gave a shit.”
“Yes, I did! I swear!” Tears now begin to flow freely down your cheeks. You try to close the distance between you, but when Mickey steps back, you stop. Clutching your arms across your chest, you beg, “Mickey, I loved you. If there had been another way, I would have moved Heaven and Earth to stay with you but I didn’t have a choice.”
“Really?” Mickey scoffs. “Why not?”
“Because they found out about us.”
Needing no further context to understand what you are referring to, a cold dread washes over him. “W-who did?”
“Command. They heard from a few different people that we were ‘fraternizing’ outside of our duties. That we had started sleeping together a few months earlier and that it had evolved into an actual relationship.”
Mickey shakes his head as, in a softer tone, he says, “I never told anyone. I swear.”
Smiling warmly at him, you say, “I never doubted that. And just so you know, I didn’t either. But someone must have found some sort of evidence and turned us in. I tried to find out who, but I never had any luck. All I know is I got called into the discipline office and they said they were starting an investigation into our alleged relationship and if it were true…”
You take a deep breath as your arms tighten around your chest. “I knew if they went looking, they’d find out about us so I did the only thing I could think of to save our careers. I told them it wasn’t true but if they were still concerned, I would voluntarily opt for a different WSO or even transfer to another unit if that would clear things up. And they took me up on my offer.”
Missing pieces of Mickey’s past suddenly start to click into place. While it was against regulation for pilots and their backseaters to “fraternize” with any kind of romantic or sexual relationship, the rule was hardly ever enforced. However, around the time you disappeared, a pilot in another unit almost botched a mission saving his injured WSO instead of carrying out his assignment. When it was discovered they were in a romantic relationship at the time, Command began taking the regulation very seriously. Mickey recalls the two of you even had a nervous conversation about it at one point but just agreed to be more discreet while on base.
However, it still left some gaping holes in your excuse.
“But why did you do it? Some anonymous jerk claims we were dating and that’s it? We could have fought it. If you had told me what was going on, we could have both denied everything and there was no way they could prove it.”
“Yes, they could.” Your voice quivers slightly even as you scoff humorlessly. “There was one piece of undeniable proof that would have had us both discharged if they had discovered it.”
“What?”
Tears slip from your eyes as you whisper, “I was pregnant.”
All the air is sucked from Mickey’s lungs. He feels like he’s doing barrel rolls in his jet as the world spins around him and an immense pressure weighs on his chest. “You… you were… what?”
You nod gently. “I had only found out a few days before and I was trying to figure out how to tell you. But then the investigation was brought up and it changed everything. All they had was the word of someone else we were dating, but if they knew I was pregnant with your baby, well, that’s pretty solid evidence. I didn’t know if you wanted kids. Hell, I didn’t even know if I wanted kids. So, I didn’t say anything and they transferred me two days later.”
“How could you not tell me?” Mickey whispers, trying to wrap his head around this life-changing revelation. “I would have been by your side for every minute. We could have figured it out together, we could have found a way to make it work. But even if we couldn’t, I loved you. I wanted to spend my life with you. And if that meant giving up everything else, I would have done it.”
“I know you would have. And that’s why I couldn’t say anything.” You take a few steps towards him. This time, Mickey doesn’t move back, but you still keep a little space between you so you don’t overwhelm him. “I knew if I told you, you wouldn’t let me leave and it would be the end of both our careers. We’d both worked so hard to get where we were, I couldn’t let you throw everything away for a kid I still didn’t know if I even wanted. And by the time I had decided, it was too late to change what I’d done. So, when I reported to Command I was pregnant a few months later, I said it was from a nameless one-night stand I met at a bar right after I transferred.”
Mickey’s head is still reeling from everything you have told him, yet he catches one important detail in what you just said. “Wait. You reported it. Does that mean…did you…do we…?”
“Yeah, Mickey,” you half sob as more tears flow steadily down your face. “We have a son.”
“A son…”
It is the final straw. Stumbling over to the nearby wall, Mickey slides down it until he is sitting on the ground and rests his head on his knees. He has a son. A four- or five-year-old son that he never knew about. Someone who was already walking, and talking, and going to school. Who was his own person with his own personality and likes and dislikes. Who Mickey knows absolutely nothing about.
The two of you had never talked about whether you wanted kids or a family. Until the moment you disappeared, Mickey had never doubted you both loved each other deeply but your relationship had been too complicated by rules and regulations to face what might happen in the future. So, the two of you had lived in the moment and tried to enjoy what time you had together instead of talking about the future. But that didn’t mean Mickey hadn’t thought about it. He had known from a young age he wanted to be a father. He helped take care of his younger siblings growing up and he couldn’t wait to have a family of his own.
So to find out now that he has a child is simultaneously exhilarating and devastating. He could have had everything he had always dreamed of, but you had taken all those early milestones, all those precious irreplaceable moments with his son, and Mickey doesn’t know how to accept that. What if his son never forgives him for not being there? Mickey might not have known he even existed until a few moments ago, but that doesn’t change the fact his son has had to grow up not knowing what it was like to have a father. To have a void in his life where others around him had a loving, supportive presence. Will his son even want him in his life at this point?
He hears you walking over to him and can see your feet stop a few inches from him out of the corner of his eye.
In a voice thick with tears, you whisper, “I’m sorry. I’m so, so incredibly sorry. I just…I didn’t…I didn’t know…” You can’t find the words to finish that sentence.
“Why are you telling me this now?” Mickey raises his head to glare up at you, all of his swirling emotions finding a much-needed target to explode at. “Even if I accept why you let them transfer you or that you didn’t tell me right then, why didn’t you tell me at any point during the last five years! Is it just because I’m here? If I hadn’t come back to Top Gun, would you ever have told me?”
You open your mouth to respond but then close it again as you try to find the best way to answer. “Those are all fair questions. I figured if I told you while I was still pregnant or right after I gave birth, we would still get in trouble. My superiors weren’t happy that I had just transferred to fly with one of their WSOs and this happened but they had to accept it. I flew for another month or two but then I was placed on desk duty until I got this job at Top Gun. I hated being grounded but at least I was someplace consistent where I could go home to my family every night.”
“‘Your family’? Do you mean you…?” Maybe his son has had a father-figure in his life after all.
You seem confused for a moment but as soon as you realize what he is asking, you quickly clarify, “Oh, no, no, no! Nothing like that. My mom moved in a month before I gave birth and stayed so she could watch the kiddo while I was at work.” You duck your head to stare at the ground as you mutter, “But no, there, uh, there hasn’t been anyone like that since you. I’ve got one little man who has my whole heart, and between him and work, I don’t have the time or the energy to spend on anyone else.”
Mickey hates the way his heart warmed slightly at that. He should hate you right now, not be happy that you aren’t with someone. Quickly changing the topic before he lets himself dwell on that for too long, he says, “You still haven’t answered my question. Why now? Why are you telling me about him now?”
“He asked about you.”
“What?”
“Well, not you specifically but he started asking about his dad. He doesn’t understand….” Your voice breaks as your lip begins to quiver. Mickey’s resolve wavers and he starts to reach for your hand but then he remembers the reason you are upset in the first place and lets his hand fall. Taking a deep breath, you continue, “He’s too young to understand and I’m too selfish to admit it’s my fault you’re not there, so I just told him his dad was a Naval aviator like me and he’s off protecting everyone from danger. I was hoping…I don’t know what I was hoping, but it didn’t satisfy him like I thought it would. Two weeks ago, he told me all he wants for his birthday next month is to meet his dad.”
“He…he wants to meet me?” Mickey asks.
You nod. “And I didn’t know what to do. I had no idea where in the world you were, if you had your own family by now, or if you would even want to meet him once you knew. But then a few days ago I saw you were coming here and…it seemed like fate. I knew telling you would be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I couldn’t go home and look into our son’s eyes if I didn’t at least try. That’s why I’m telling you now.”
“So this is just a way for you to clear your conscience?” Mickey asks. “You finally tell me I have a son, and that’s supposed to absolve you of everything? You took nearly five years I could have had with him away from me! I missed out on so many firsts!” Mickey suddenly freezes, all the anger evaporating in an instant as a sober realization sets in. “I still don’t even know his name….”
“Miguel. His name’s Miguel.”
Tears spring to Mickey’s eyes as he whispers, “Miguel?”
You smile at the reverence on Mickey’s face. “It was the only name I ever considered.” Pulling out your phone and tapping the screen a few times, you offer it to him. “It turns out it was perfect. He’s the spitting image of his namesake.”
With shaking hands, Mickey takes the phone from you. Looking down, he sees a little boy staring back at him with a wide grin that’s too big for his face, a mess of dark curly hair, and rich brown eyes that make Mickey feel like he is looking into a mirror. You weren’t far off. Miguel looks almost exactly like the baby photos Mickey had seen of himself at that age. However, he can also see traces of you in the toddler’s face; in the shape of his lips and the cut of his jaw. There’s no way to deny it any longer. This was his kid. Yours and his together.
Watching the waves of emotions washing across his face, you murmur, “I swear, I never wanted to hurt you…either of you. I just didn’t know what to do and then, once I made a decision, I didn’t know how to tell you the truth. The longer I put it off, the more impossible it got to tell you. But you did nothing wrong and I just thought he should have another piece of you to carry with him, even if he doesn’t understand it yet.”
Mickey swipes his finger across the phone and the photo changes to one of you balancing Miguel on your hip as you point towards the camera. He looks younger here but the same joy is evident on his face as he clings to you with one arm and to a ratty-looking Spider-Man plush in the other. Another swipe shows Miguel blowing out a candle on a birthday cake shaped like a Stegosaurus. There is a big “4” balloon floating in the background next to a woman Mickey recognizes as your mother. He swipes again to see a picture of you fast asleep in a rocking chair with an infant Migual curled on your chest. He is so tiny that he could only have been a month or two old. You look disheveled and exhausted even in sleep, yet Mickey doesn’t think he can remember a time you were more breathtaking.
He is about to swipe again when something at the top of the picture stops him. Zooming in closer, he inhales sharply.
There is a small framed drawing hanging on the wall just above Miguel’s crib. It’s of two stick people looking at each other with little hearts above their heads. He doubts a single other person would have ever noticed it, but he would recognize it anywhere. He had doodled it on a note he slipped you right after his friendship with you had developed into a romance. And you had kept it all of these years then hung it so it would watch over your son.
Tears that have been threatening to fall finally crest over his eyes as Mickey chokes out, “Can I meet him?”
“You really want to?”
He nods before tearing his eyes from the phone to look up at you. “Yeah. More than anything.”
“Okay, then yeah, of course you can,” you say eagerly as your face lights up. But then it dims slightly as you add, “But, um, I think it’s better if we wait just a few days.” Mickey starts to protest but you hold up your hand. “I know I’ve already made you wait far too long for this, but we need to figure out some things first and I’m sure once you’ve had time to process everything, you’ll have a million questions. I just want you to be as prepared for this as possible so you both feel comfortable. It’s a big deal and Miguel is the sweetest kid you’ll ever meet, but he is pretty shy around new people and I don’t want to just spring this on him without talking to him first.”
Mickey can’t help smiling to himself. He was the exact same way when he was little. “Yeah, you’re probably right. I already have a thousand questions and I’m sure by tomorrow, I’ll have a thousand more. How ‘bout we say Friday after training? I could come over or meet you guys somewhere or whatever you think is best.”
You hesitate for a minute. “I have an appointment Friday afternoon and I’m not sure how long it’ll last. Why don’t we do Saturday morning? We could meet for pancakes. That’ll definitely get you on Miguel’s good side.”
“Pancakes it is.” Mickey climbs to his feet and holds out your phone to you. But just as you are about to take it, he pulls it back slightly. “Um…do you think…could you send me some photos of Miguel?”
Smiling softly, you say, “Of course, Mickey. As many as you want. And I have some videos too. Do you still have the same number?”
“You still have it saved?” Mickey asks in surprise.
You duck your head. “I couldn’t delete it. I stared at it countless nights with my finger hovering over the call button, but I always chickened out. However, I knew one day I’d find the strength to tell you everything, and when that happened, I’d need a way to contact you so I kept it. I’m still just so sorry it took me this long.”
Mickey sighs as he stares off across the open tarmac. “Part of me gets it, you know? It was a no-win situation given the circumstances.”
“Yeah…” you mutter, wrapping your arms around yourself once again. “I felt like I was in my own personal Kobayashi Maru except no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t figure out how to cheat the system.”
Oh God. The ease at which that perfect Star Trek metaphor slips from your lips once again has Mickey flashing back to all the little reasons he fell in love with you in the first place. However, after the secrets you revealed today, he can’t let himself fall back into what was.
“That might be true, but another part of me doesn’t know if I can ever forgive you for stealing these last five years I could have had with my son.” He scrubs his hand over his closely buzzed hair. “Right now, I just don’t know how to feel about you or what you did. However, I do know that I can be pleasant and get along when we’re around Miguel, though I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to get back to a point where we’re friends again.”
You bob your head, tears dampening your eyes even as a small smile spreads across your face. “That’s fair. That’s more than fair. Honestly, I half expected you never to want to see me again after I told you, so I’ll take pleasant. Thank you, Mickey.”
He nods and holds out your phone. As you take it, your fingers brush against his and Mickey feels a jolt run up his arm as he touches you for the first time in almost six years. And based on the way your eyes widened, you felt it too. The two of you gaze at each other, your hands still both holding the phone between you. Mickey feels his heart start to race slightly in his chest, and he wonders if maybe he’s wrong and forgiving you won’t be as difficult as he thinks it is.
But then you pull the phone from his hand and slip it into your pocket. Taking a few steps back, you mutter, “I’ll send you those pictures. And please do text me any questions you have this week. Otherwise, I’ll call you Friday to figure out the details for breakfast Saturday.”
And with that, you pivot and hurry across the tarmac before disappearing into one of the hangars.
For several minutes, Mickey continues to stare at where you had been standing, still half wondering if anything that just happened was real or not. He always knew returning to Top Gun would be life-changing, but he had never expected this in a million years.
Still in a daze, he stumbles off towards the hangar where his plane is housed. As he approaches, he sees Payback already dressed in his flight suit and busy checking out the plane. He looks up when he hears Mickey approaching.
“Hey, there you are. I thought you were just gonna be a minute.” As he gets closer, Payback does a double-take when he notices Mickey’s face. “Oh, man, are you okay?”
Mickey is still wondering that himself, but he says, “Yeah… yeah, I’m good.”
As Mickey walks past him to put his stuff in his locker and pull out his flight suit, Payback follows him, concern etched across his face. “Dude, you’re a mess.”
“I’m not a mess.”
“Yeah, you are. You look like you’re about to pass out and I can tell you’ve been crying.”
“Yeah, guess I have.” Just then, Mickey’s phone vibrates and he pulls it out to see you have sent him a link to a folder filled with hundreds of pictures and videos of Miguel. Just a brief scan of them makes tears begin to well up in his eyes once more. But when he looks back up at Payback, the smile on his face is so wide it hurts. “But it’s all good. In fact… It’s never been better.”

The following day, he jumps on the next plane available for Canada, which is a three-connection, but he doesn't care at this point. He waits hours for his next connection at the Charles de Gaulle airport. Trying to think about what to say or do.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We are forced to land at the Ottawa International Airport due to a snowstorm at the destination point. We apologize for the inconvenience. We sincerely apologize, and our stewardesses on the ground can assist you to redirect you to the next available flights. Thank you for your understanding.”
Mick looks through the window and sees the white expanse covering the airport's ground. The runway was covered with heavy snow, but he could see the plows clearing the runways quickly to allow the aircraft to land safely. Dressed in a little sweater and a T-shirt. He regrets not thinking about Canada’s complicated weather, especially at this time of year. Of course, it’s cold in January, and there’s snow. It’s not Australia, after all. He also regrets not putting a hoodie in his bag. He knows full well that he will catch his death once he gets out of the heat of the airport.
All the passengers on the plane complained about the change of direction, and several disgruntled people were already praising the company’s complaint. Mick looks up and knows full well that it’s not their fault. All of eastern Canada is blocked because of this storm.
However, he is thinking about what he will be able to do next. How will he get to Quebec City? He thought about the various options as the aircraft suddenly landed on the runway. He clings to his seat, taking a deep breath. He never liked to fly, let alone in a storm. The bell that says the seat belt is no longer necessary rings, and everyone rushes into the aisles to pick up their luggage as quickly as possible. Something else Mick doesn’t like. Being glued to strangers, he sits quietly in his place and waits for people to come out to get up and take his bag. He crosses the hallway and follows the arrows that lead him to security. He goes through customs quickly and ends up at the airport gates. He sees people pulling out their winter jackets and big boots. "I really should have dressed." He mumbles to himself, crossing his arms around his body to keep his body warm.
He went to the reception desk to be put on the next flight to Montreal, but it would not leave for three days. “It’s too long.” A little stress invades him, and he wonders how he will reach his destination if no plane lands in Montreal for the next few days. So he sits on a bench and thinks. “I have to get to her.”
He finally finds the best solution to his problem. “If I can’t fly to her. I’ll do what I know best. I’ll drive to her." He got up to determine and went to the car rental service.
Renting is the best option right now.
After five hours of difficult driving through the snowstorm, he finally arrived at his destination. The city is completely buried under the ton of snow that fell during the night, the streets are deserted, and it makes the landscape breathtaking. The snow covers the entire St. Lawrence River. He even sees people on snowmobiles, making tracks on the fresh snow to cross the river. Mick knows snow, but snow like this never happens. He never thought that when he came to Quebec, he would be blown away by his landscapes. The sun is rising, setting in the sky.
They spoke about her home. She described the island where she lives. Ancestral houses, fields as far as the eye can see and the different villages of the island. The bridge that connects the island to the city is old but beautiful. Everything seems asleep under its snow mountains, yet several people are already beginning to unfold their entrance, and children are waiting for the school bus. Fortunately, the road is perfectly cleared of snow, allowing Mick to admire the landscape without danger.
He easily finds the house. He remembers as if it were yesterday the description she gave him of her parents' house. She described the landscape and the atmosphere of the place, and he felt it strongly. He exits his vehicle and is surprised that the snow reaches his calves. He tightens his sweater against his body and approaches the house's porch. The lights inside his lit, and he still sees Christmas decorations. The tree shines with a thousand lights. He rings the bell.
A chime agitates and produces a magnificent symphony that mixes with wind and snow. He stands there for a few seconds without a sound and hops on the spot to warm up. Then, he hears through the door a person approaching.
"Yes?" asks the lady, opening the door.
She's staring at Mick from top to bottom, probably wondering what he's doing in a weather like this, dressed like this. Mick looks up at the woman in front of him, and she doesn't look like Y/n, and he feels embarrassed to disturb her. He blushes when he stutters.
"Um... I don't think I have the correct address. I'm sorry to bother you." He quickly steps back and is ready to go down the stair when suddenly.
"Mick," he hears a voice in the distance.
She approaches the entrance door and lets her face be seen in the door frame. A smile from on his face. It's her, and it's really her. He can't believe it. It seems like ages since he last saw her. Her hair is brighter, and her skin is radiant. She seems to radiate for miles. She has a worried look on her face. He's shaking like a leaf, and his face seems frozen from the cold.
"What are you doing here?" She asks, taking him by the arm and drawing him into the hall. "Come, come in. You will catch death."
She closes the door behind him, and the other woman leaves at the end of the long corridor in a room unknown to him, leaving them alone. The young woman helps him take his shoes off, grumbling about not dressing enough for the temperature. She guides him into the living room, sitting him in front of the fire to warm him up. Mick doesn't say much, but he thanks her. He's thankful she didn't throw him like an old sock in his car so he could get out of the country. She leaves in another room, and Mick takes the time to look around at the pictures in front of him sitting on the mantel. He rubs his hands close to the fire, hoping to warm up. She comes back a few minutes later.
"Thank you," he said, taking the hot chocolate in his icy hands.
He shudders and shivers from the cold. She watches him for a few moments before returning to the corridor. She returns with warm clothes and a vast warming blanket. He puts on the clothes, and she tenderly wraps him up like a child in the blanket and caresses his hair. Despite all the anger, she may feel. At this very moment, all she wants is his good. He puts his head between the palm of her hand, taking the time to feel her warmth, keeping her contact a few moments before it is interrupted.
“What are you doing here, Mick?" She asks tenderly as she sits on the couch next to him.
He doesn't know what to say at first. So, he lets his eyes look at the room. He notices the house is small but extremely warm and cozy. The mix of wood and cream makes the home very welcoming and not intimidating. Nothing like his house. He feels good here, and he hopes she is too.
“I... He’s searching for the words he spent hours practicing on the plane and in the car to her house. “I came to see you.” He admits locking his ocean-blue eyes in hers.
“Mick, what did you really come to do? Are you not with Nina?” She wonders with a touch of bitterness in her voice.
He feels the bitterness in her voice, and he feels terrible. Bad because he wants her to know so many things all at once, but she doesn't seem able to listen.
She didn’t want to show him that he hurt her, but she couldn’t help but wonder what happened to the other. "Why is he here? Did the other girl leave him? Is that why he came here?" All those questions invade her mind immediately, and she feels her tear coming up. Her throat tightens.
“No. No. I...” Words struggle to get out, and Mick feels increasingly uncomfortable. His cheeks turn red, and he mumbles an apology again. “I broke up with Nina.” He finally confesses, looking at her in the eye once more.
“Oh, sorry about you.” She isn't sorry for a bit but doesn't feel better either. Strangely, she feels weird about all this.
He takes a sip of his hot chocolate. All the sentences he prepared, all the words and promises he made up on the plane, are gone. He wants to tell her the world and even more. "How can he describe how she makes him feel if he doesn't even have the words?" He wants to kiss her, to prove to her that he'll be hers, and only hers by now. But he knows for sure that a kiss isn't the right idea. She needs explication, and quickly. All this situation makes him anxious and stressed.
“No. No. No. She's not important to me.” He puts his coffee cup on the table and turns his body towards the young woman. “I want you.” He mumbles, taking her hands gently in his own.
“Mick...”
“No, listen to me! I screwed up, I know. I shouldn’t have left you alone all this time, and I’ll have. I want to be there for you, with you. I want you to be close to me. The few days we spent together have opened my eyes, and I know what I want now. I...”
"Don’t say it," she implores with eyes full of water.
“I need you to know that. The few weeks without you were the worst weeks of my life.” He approaches her hand and rubs her cheek tenderly. “I don’t just want to be involved in your life because of the baby, our baby. I want to be involved because I...”
“No, stop, Mick.” She says, pushing him away. “You can’t say that when it’s only been a few weeks since you walked out on me, kissing your girlfriend in my face. I can’t... I don’t want those words coming out of your mouth. You’re being unfair to me.” She cries out as she leaves the room in tears.
She hates hormones. She hates the control it has on her. She can't have a proper conversation that doesn't involve tears and screams since the start of her pregnancy. She feels so frustrated with herself and doesn't want to say more things to Mick. She storms out of the room, slamming the bathroom door. Her hormones make this situation somewhat upsetting, a real drama. She locks herself in the bathroom and lets herself slide to the ground.
He has no right to come back like a flower and ask him to forgive him for the weeks of pure sadness that he made her live. He has no right. She bursts into tears and brings her knees back to her chest. She did her best with her growing belly, a little more rounded by her 15 weeks of pregnancy.
On his side, Mick’s remorse seizes him, and he feels at his worst. How she feels and expresses it is worse than he could have imagined, and he never wanted that to happen. He sees the woman who welcomed him, and she approaches him with a compassionate smile.
"Don’t worry. It’s hormones. She’s just upset about the situation, but once she’s calm, she’ll talk to you.” She said as she sat beside him, offering him a comforting pat on the back. "Don’t worry about it. I know that you have good intentions."
"How do you know?" He questions down.
"Well, I talked with your mother a few hours ago. She's a very persuasive woman.” She giggles slightly to relax the atmosphere and reassure him. "She cares about you very much."
“You are her mother?”
“Yes." She nods. "You should go see her."
"I don't think it's the right idea. She hates me." He mumbles, wiping a few tears down his cheek.
"She doesn't hate you. She's upset and pregnant, which are two things that don't go together. Knowing my daughter, she’s probably doing a thousand scenarios in her head, so I think you can go and reassure her." She taps his shoulder gently before getting up again. "You have to lift the handle a little to unlock the door. And a little tip, don’t talk too much. Let her open to you.” She winks at him before heading outside.
Mick nods and gets up from the couch. He listens to her choking sobs with his ear glued to the bathroom door. A pinch in the heart invades him, and he unlocks the door without difficulty. She barely has time to look up as he’s already hugged her. Letting her go through her emotions. She wants to struggle and get away from him, but deep down, she doesn’t want to. She allows her tears to stain his sweater. Mick gently cradles her. She feels good in his arms, reminding her of the day he took her in his coat to keep her warm.
Her sobs subside, and her breathing resumes a normal rhythm. She feels her body relax more and more and closes her eyes, happy to have him back by her side. She gently detaches herself from him to take a handkerchief and blow her nose. She laughs and implores him not to watch her blow her nose. He laughs but does what she says, and he looks away.
They remain for a moment in silence, sitting in the bathroom, enjoying the presence of the other. When Mick’s stomach starts to gurgle strongly, she finally decides to get up. He helps her get back on her feet, and she giggles when she hears his belly gurgling. He blushes heavily when he mumbles an apology. She leads him to the kitchen and orders him to sit down. She takes out a pan and removes the pancake preparation that she made a few hours ago from the fridge.
He takes the time to admire her. Her cream hoodie, which he recognizes from the RIC store, suits her perfectly. She seems cozy and warm while the sun sets on the kitchen windows. As always, the light from the mighty sun reflects on her magnificent strawberry blonde. Mick wants to put his hand in her hair and smell that sweet smell of honey again. Her perfume intoxicates him. He's lost in her beauty that he doesn't even realize she talked to him.
"What?" He mumbles, a bit embarrassed to have been cough daydreaming.
"Do you want maple syrup on your pancake?"
He nods, and they eat in silence. Mick thanks her multiple time for her kindness, and she laughs. She finds him sweet. He is sweet. All those things he says and how he tells them makes her heart go. Butterflies in her stomach. She rests a hand on her belly, rubbing it distractedly, listening to Mick mumbling about his recent discovery about their baby.
The more she thinks about it, the more she realizes she hasn't been fair to him either, especially about the baby. She knows they have to talk about it eventually, but right now wants this peace and quiet moment, without drama, to continue forever. She's lost in her thought and hasn't realized he is asking her a question.
"Hum?"
"How is he?" He asks again, pointing at her baby bump.
"Oh, everything is fine. The baby is perfectly healthy and strong and has a strong heartbeat."
"Really?" Mick’s eyes light up, and she smiles affectionately.
"Yeah! Do you want to hear it?"
"Sure." The spark in his eyes makes her smile even more.
She gets her phone and headphone and comes back quickly. She sets the devices on his head and searches her playlist for the baby songs. She hasn't stopped listening to it since the doctor gave her a record.
For a few seconds, he can't hear a thing. But, little by little, the beats are listened to. Regular and strong. Tears of joy appear in his eyes. This is Mick's first time hearing his baby’s heart beating. Even if it’s not live, he is filled with joy. He smiles fully and gently puts his hand against the young woman’s belly. He caresses tenderly and can no longer hold back his tears. The emotion is strong. He never thought he would be so moved by a very small being not yet born. Seeing him move makes her move, and she wipes her tears. She is more than happy to be able to share her moment with him finally. She ties her fingers to his and puts her head against his shoulder.
"Come with me at ROC this weekend." He mumbles once the recording of the heartbeat is finished. "We have much to discuss, but I want you close, and I don't want this to end."
Mick’s heart beats a thousand a second, and his nervousness makes him blush. To reassure himself after this proposal, he caresses his stomach. God, he can’t wait for the baby to move, for him to feel it too.
She hesitates to accept his request and doesn’t want to find herself in a situation she doesn’t like again. And even more, this is a public event, and many people will be there. It’s one thing to meet his family at home and stay in a private setting, but it’s another to make this story public. He feels his hesitation, and he cannot help but add.
"My friend Sebastian is going to be there. I really want you to meet him. It’s like a second father, a mentor to me. And I want him to see the person who’s going to... I hope... share her life with me." He whispers at the end of his sentence, barely inaudible.
Her heart goes wild, and the butterflies in her belly fly away. She feels light and happy. Happy that he offers her. Glad he chose her. Glad she could finally tell “us” after these weeks of loneliness.
"Okay." She says. "I'll go with you."

i've realized it has been a HOT minute since i've contributed anything to tumblr, so i come bearing gifts! well, a gift. in the form of the intro to an omegaverse steddie fic i have absolutely talked ab on here once upon a time but am too lazy to search for the original post. ANYWAY, enjoy whatever the hell this is
----------
Eddie and Steve were not a thing. They absolutely, 100%, were not dating.
They drank, smoked, watched movies, fucked, spent the night. Eddie had gotten Steve through three heats. They spent all of their time together. Eddie had shirts that smelled like him in Steve’s nest. They were not dating.
So when Corroded Coffin was offered a deal and a fresh start in Chicago, it didn't matter that Eddie was taking it. It didn't. It absolutely, 100%, did not matter to Steve. When Eddie completely skipped town with barely a goodbye, it didn't matter. It didn't matter that the band packed up his van and left. They were not dating. It didn't matter. Eddie had made his decision, and Steve respected that. They had only been fooling around. Sure, it was exclusive. They didn't fuck around with anyone else, and they spent so much time together they might as well have been dating, but they weren't. It wasn't a thing. It didn't matter.
Until it did.
Until Steve was sitting cross-legged on his bedroom floor with a test in front of him. A positive test.
edit:: lol i found it it's this one

Little Parasite
Leon S. Kennedy x AFAB!reader (I tried to make pronouns gender neutral but I might have missed a few)
Warnings: Pregnancy, unplanned pregnancy, Leon needs a hug, mentions of plaga infection, mentions of sex, swearing, hating on the government, takes place after RE4 remake.
Pregnant.
Pregnant.
Oh fuck you were pregnant.
You stared at the positive stick in your hands.
Positive. Positive.
This was impossible. You were on birth control! You and Leon were always safe when-
Spain.
When you were kidnapped, you hadn’t been able to take your pill. You went several days without taking it. That wouldn’t have been much of a problem if the parasites you had been infected with didn’t cause multiple episodes of an intense need to breed.
How many times had you and Leon fucked during your rescue? How many times did he cum inside of you during the plaga induced delirium?
Not to mention when you joined the mile high club on the plane ride back to the states.
If the fetus inside of you was conceived when you both were infected…
What was inside of you?
You put a hand to your stomach. It's been 3 months since you got back.3 months of nightmares, white house funded therapy and multiple visits to a government science lab. When you missed your period you didn’t think much of it. You went through a lot of stress. Plus, the moment you got back you resumed your birth control pills on schedule.
No. You were panicking for no reason. Pregnancy tests come back with false positives all the time.
Deep breath. It was probably a false positive.
Still, you ended up making a phone call to your OBGYN. The receptionist sounded somewhat concerned, your last appointment was only 6 months ago. You couldn’t come up with a proper answer as to why you desperately needed the doctor as soon as possible.
Once the call was over you put the phone down and breathed.
Leon was asleep in your shared bedroom. He had come back from a mission last night, and needed the rest.
You didn’t need to tell him, right? After all this was nothing. There wasn’t any need to wake him up and scare or worry him. After all, you haven’t had any morning sickness. No other symptoms were showing up.
It was nothing! Just a false positive.
Two days later, you were on your back with ultrasound gel on your stomach. Your eyes were trained on the screen.
That was not a false positive.
“Judging by the size, I'd say you're about 11 weeks.” your OBGYN confirmed, pointing on the screen, “Here's the head…”
The baby was conceived in Spain.
Her words were fading off into nothing. Your wide eyes were on the black and white screen. That little blob was an embryo. That would grow into a fetus. From there, a baby.
Baby.
Baby.
“Oh my god.” You breathed, mind unable to cope, “Oh my god…”
How did this not come up on any of those tests the lab ran!?
A sudden thought came into your head. With horror, you realized that the lab most likely knew and deliberately didn’t tell you.
You were under no delusion you could trust the government. Your dad was the fucking president. You knew how cut throat and ruthless everything involved with the country's leadership was. After your kidnap, you were finally informed of the science that was being hidden from the public to avoid a panic.
Most likely you were being watched by undercover agents. You’ve been at this OBGYN for years, and you never saw that receptionist with the red hair. Chances are, both your father and the science lab knew about this appointment the moment you made it.
Your panicked eyes went to your doctor. What would she tell them? Would HIPAA come into play here? How good was the hippocratic oath when the national leader demanded answers?
Who could you trust?
“Is it-...” Your throat felt tight.
Was it normal? Any signs of developmental problems? Did it have a tail and claws? Was it actually a parasite?
“So far at 11 weeks I am seeing normal development.” She talked as if reading your mind, “It’s still too early to know the sex, but I’m seeing normal limbs and head growth. No signs of down syndrome or other chromosomal issues.”
“Blood test?” Your words sounded small, “I mean…Can I get a blood test to confirm? Just to check for anything?” Did a blood test for ancient Spanish parasites even exist? You scrambled for a reason, “Um…I had traveled to rural Spain 11 weeks ago…I drank some of the water there.”
It was a vague but good enough reason for your doctor.
You got your blood taken, the ultrasound photo was printed and you were sent on your way. Your eyes met the new receptionist when you made another appointment for next week.
Agent.
Your father knew.
If your dad knew that you were pregnant, then the government lab did as well.
As you drove, your head was filled with dangerous thoughts. What would they do to the fetus? What would they do to you ? Would they force you to terminate and use the cells for experiments? Would they make you carry to term and take the baby from you?
Unconsciously, one of your hands rested on your stomach. Right now, your brain went into overdrive. You’d fight tooth and nail to keep this life safe inside of you.
Maternal instinct.
Honestly, you thought it was a myth. It probably was, but then you couldn’t explain the sudden need to protect this baby in your belly.
…Baby
There was a baby growing inside of you. A life created between you and the man you loved. A child that you and Leon made together. An act of love and intimacy had formed a whole new existence.
You swallowed thickly.
This…this was hardly the time to have a kid. You had your job and career. Plus, Leon was gone on missions a lot. Dangerous missions that could end up with him dead. Your child might grow up without a father…nothing but a folded flag and a photo to tell them that their dad perished protecting the country.
“Stop it.” you forced yourself to speak, “Just stop it.” Your mind was spiraling. Forcing you to tackle some things you didn’t want to accept yet. No, you had to focus. You were driving, and frankly, panicking behind the wheel of a moving vehicle is a great way to get yourself killed.
You noticed a black car had been tailing you for the last several miles. Secret service. One of your dads agents.
Or kidnappers .
Honestly, with your life now, any of those three were options.
Well, at least you had a concealed carry this time.
You pulled into your driveway, hand resting on the pistol hidden at your hip as you opened the door to step out. The car drove past, most likely going to turn around and set up surveillance somewhere nearby.
Jesus, can’t you have a normal life?
You unlocked the door to your condo, stepping in to see Leon pacing. He was agitated, running his hands through his blonde hair. He perked up, looking at you as soon as you closed and locked the door.
“Leon?” You put your keys down, approaching him, “Is everything-?”
“Where…were you?” He swallowed. You could see his hands shaking ever so slightly.
“I..went to see my OB.” you answered him, holding his face in your hands, “What's going on?”
“The lab…they called…” your fiance put his hands over yours, “You need to go in for further testing. I don’t know why, they said they found something.”
Oh fuck you government!
You sighed, “Great…” You pulled away, “There's something I need to show you.” Your steps went to your bag that you put down by the door.
“Is everything ok?” He asked, following you.
“I..I think so.” You spoke truthfully, pulling out the ultrasound photos. Your own anxiety was spiking now. You knew Leon wanted a family of his own. You two have talked about it. But were you ready to be parents?
You held up the photos.
Leon’s eyes widened. He raised his hands slowly, as if afraid of breaking or ripping them. He rubbed his thumb over the surface. You watched his gaze roam over the pictures, as if committing every detail to memory.
Your fiance stepped back and leaned against the wall. His eyes remained on the photos, not looking up at anything else around him.
The result of your love. Half of you and half of him had created that little blob inside of you. That blob would grow into a baby. A child.
“Really?” The agent sounded quiet, voice almost a whisper.
You nodded, “Yea…really…And i know it's-”
He cut you off by immediately wrapping his strong arms around you. You could feel the tears when he buried his face into your shoulder.
“I love you,” Leon breathed, pulled back to pepper your face with kisses, “Oh my god, I love you. I love you.” One hand cupped your cheek, and the other was on your stomach with an open palm.
You giggled, “Happy?”
“Happy? Happy doesn’t even cover it.” His voice was light and joyful. His fingers brushed over your middle, “I'm ecstatic. Excited. I…God, I love you.” Your fiance knelt burying his face into your stomach to start placing pecks all over and whisper loving words. You weren’t even showing yet and he was already beginning to coo and mumble baby talk.
You couldn’t help but laugh.
