I can't help but think that one of the biggest issues of putting pragmatic therapy before psychology in terms of importance is you end up with the usual problem when you put pragmatics before conception. for example, right now all these various creative types are saying "shame isn't a motivator," which as a statement is true in the same way as "lions aren't pets." only under a confusion of definitions or a mistaking of an exception for a rule would someone think lions are pets.
