#unfortunately I am not normal about sunflower and their age.

What do you think about middle aged sunflower ????
Okay I'm going to pretend I'm normal and didn't just have a conversation about it yesterday within which I had to restrict myself because of Discord's stupid character limit
Anyway. Gonna talk about fanfics briefly, because fics tend to get more complex with characterization.
A while ago, I got really into Marvel, and for two months I did nearly nothing except read spideypool fanfic all day and night. If you know anything about these two (that isn't from the MCU) (I hate the MCU, I hate it so so much, this is not who Spidey fundamentally is, he is supposed to be a friendly neighborhood loner loser and you Cannot just give him an Iron Man suit and a mentorship with Stark and intergalactic missions at 16 or however old he is in those movies when the essence of the character is that he is an average struggling teenager who just happens to get superpowers and fucks up a lot at the beginning of his journey and mostly works alone and quit the fucking Avengers himself) (wow I started rambling sorry. Ignore that), you'll know that they are both around... 25-30ish, currently. Something like that. The only other fandom that I read as many fanfics of was Ace Attorney, where depending on the timeline, they can be from 23 to like, 35 with a kid. So I'd say me being so invested in a ship with 16 year-olds is... kind of an anomaly.
I don't usually like the coming-of-age, teenage love stuff, and I honestly have never found a single sunflower schoolfic I liked (except Spiral of course but even then they're in college) because all of them tend to... infantilize both Sunny and Basil at great length. And also tear down anything that makes them interesting characters. I think a lot of OMORI artists (that includes writers) are very afraid of doing anything substantial with teenagers, despite, you know, the actual plot of the game, and as a result, a lot of the time most fics where the characters aren't aged up tend to be... incredibly boring. Of course there are some that are good — exceptional even — but in the end all I can think of is the huge gap in... quality? that sounds wrong to say about a creative thing... interesting-ness, let's say (a very personal and subjective concept), when I stopped reading Marvel and went back to OMORI. I stopped reading fanfics altogether because I just couldn't find one I liked as much as the average Marvel fic that I hadn't already read.
Maybe it's a result of the writers themselves being young? I know OMORI's fanbase is generally a lot younger than Marvel's, so that could affect it. I mentioned schoolfics because there's a lot of them and because they were mentioned in my rant yesterday, but it's not really about the fact that they're schoolfics, it's about the fact that more often than not, the setting is the plot, and since it's just your average highschooler writing their favorite blorbos into their own environment and projecting (which is very cool btw, 99% of my own writing is projecting), the plot is... basically nonexistant. It's boring. It's boring and the characterization is usually dull. But even outside of schoolfics, I think I stopped trying to read fics that start with Sunny getting out of the hospital after the True Ending for the same reason : it's often plain and plotless and boring. And, fuck, my favorite books and mangas and such are slice of life, I'm all for mundane plots! But there's a difference between a mundane plot/realism and just no plot at all.
(This is not, like, an attack of OMORI writers who make schoolfics or fics that start with the above mentioned premise, btw, I want to make that very clear. It's very much a personal preference. I think it's boring because all of the fics I read in Marvel had a very unique plot/premise is my point. And also because the characters were a lot more mature and complex. Different strokes for different folks)
I think that's what I'm kind of sad about. OMORI characters tend to be complex and morally grey in their own way, and people tend to forget about that because they're teenagers and obviously no one can do no wrong before the ripe age of 18. Children are all innocent and therefore cannot be more morally complex than cinnamon roll soft boys/girls (looking pointedly at Sunny, Aubrey and Basil. But mostly Basil). Also, I think people tend to straight-up forget that 16 year-olds aren't, like, 10? Of course they're not going to be as mature as grown adults, especially Sunny OMORI, Dissociative Amnesia World Champion, but like... When I was 16 reading OMORI fanfics, half the time I was like "a 16 year-old would not fucking say that". But also generally more mature characters are inevitably more interesting to explore to me because I prefer more mature themes — I'm simply extremely upset at the fact that people don't explore the complexity that's already there when they're 16, including the very mature themes that are already there.
TL;DR: I love middle aged sunflower, I love middle aged ships in general ! In fact, I will tend to prefer sunflower when it's aged up.
(... I probably should've led with that.)

Hellooo!! First, I wanted to know if you do matchups?? And second, I wanted a headcanon of Napoleon, Mozart, Arthur, Vincent and Issac with a witch s/o that ends in the mansion running away from a witch hunters. Thank u so much!
Hello hunny! ^^ Sorry for completing this request so late, life has made me busy with lots of stuff >~< To answer your question I am not currently doing matchups, however I might in the future, so if I come around to it I will definitely make a post letting everyone know! 😁
But without further ado, let’s get right into the headcanons! I loved the prompt so much too! ✨😆✨
[⚜️IkeVamp⚜️ Scenario/Headcanon] Napoleon, Mozart, Arthur, Vincent, Isaac w/ Runaway Witch Reader
🦅 Napoleon 😴
He knew something was special about you the moment you entered this mansion.
I don’t know, there was just something so strange… almost magical… about you.
So when he finally finds out that you’re a witch he is not exactly scared or surprised, but more intrigued.
Like, witches are apparently a thing??? What???
Then when you finally tell him about your situation and why you entered the mansion in the first place, that’s when he actually starts showing a bit more concern.
There are people hunting you too???
So from then on, whenever you go out in town he makes sure to accompany you, just in case your hunters somehow managed to track you down.
On the brighter side of things though, he sometimes asks you to perform tricks when he longs for entertainment every once in a while.
His favorite is when you magically make a chair move right when Arthur’s about to sit on it.
It gets him every time.
🎶 Mozart 🎹
His first instinct is to scream.
Yes. Scream.
It’s only when you cover his mouth and shush him that he finally quiets down.
“W-What? I’m not scared!! I was just… surprised! You fool!”
You ain’t buying it.
But anyways, after he’s in his calm state, you tell him that you are a witch currently on the wanted list, and that you entered the door to seek hiding only to end up in the mansion.
Despite your serious tone, he still wants you to prove yourself. After all, your claim is rather suspicious in itself.
You let out the most aggravated sigh and proceed to somehow turn his hair hot pink.
Unfortunately you haven’t learned how to undo this spell so he has to spend months wearing his aged powdered wigs before you finally find a solution.
But let’s just say he definitely believes you now. And he’s also (begrudgingly) a support system for you if you are to ever encounter your hunters.
💋 Arthur 📖
Like Napoleon, he already assumed that you weren’t a “normal” person.
But he definitely was not expecting you to be a witch.
He almost laughs when you tell him, but then he sees your 😠 face and he’s just like “Wait, you’re serious?”
That’s when he actually starts to take you seriously, and the more you talk, the more intrigued he gets.
He then asks you if you can perform any cool spells, which you confirm by literally turning his coffee into herbal tea (to his dismay)
But that’s enough to get him to believe you, and that’s when you tell him about the witch-hunt that was strategized against you, which eventually led you to enter the mansion.
Arthur looks very shocked but then takes your hand and assures you that he will protect you if they were to try and take you.
You definitely feel safer now thanks to him.
But with that being said, now that he knows you’re a witch, he uses it to his advantage, and sometimes asks you to teach him some… dirty tricks, like how to steal underwear without anyone finding out. (though it never works cuz he doesn’t have your ✨ badass magic powers✨ 😎)
🎨 Vincent 🌻
Bby boi looks more confused than scared.
A witch?? Why are you calling yourself that?
“I’m sorry, I’m not sure I understand, (Name).”
It takes you a little time to convince him that you’re not just playing around.
He’s honestly too shocked to react.
You take his silence as a bad sign and immediately become frantic.
Because you can’t bear the thought of scaring this angel!
So to convince him that you are harmless, you make a sunflower, covered in shiny magical dust, appear in your hand and give it to him, telling him that you have no wrong intentions, and that there’s nothing to fear.
He gives you his precious sunny smile and reassures you that he was merely shocked, not afraid, and thanks you for your kind gesture.
Since he’s extremely trustworthy and clearly not threatened by you, you feel compelled to tell him about the witch-hunt, and he looks horrified.
He gently embraces you, stroking your hair while telling you that you are safe here in the mansion. (Cue a cute blushy you)
Since this incident, he is always fascinated to see you perform tricks, but rarely ever asks you to in fear of wasting your energy.
However, nothing makes him smile brighter than seeing a bouquet of familiar glittery sunflowers left at his doorstep when he comes back from painting outside.
🍎 Isaac 🍏
Ok, Isaac isn’t usually one to openly scoff at something he deems stupid.
But this time, he DEFINITELY scoffs
It is literally:
You: I’m a witch.
Isaac:
🗣
But yeah, that doesn’t exactly sit well with you.
But being a physicist, practicality is his forte.
So he naturally challenges you, telling you that there is no way that witches or magic exist, and if they do you should prove it.
Just like with Mozart, you release an aggravated sigh.
Using your magical powers, you make the apple on his desk rise in the air, and before he can even react you drop it on his head.
*cue Isaac having flashbacks*
Having witnessed your skills, he finally caves and agrees that yes, magic does exist.
Because of his initial reluctance to acknowledging your status as a witch, you are scared to tell him about why you even ended up in the mansion in the first place.
But after some time, you two became closer and one day, you decide to spill it.
When you tell him, he is shocked, but the more he thinks about it, the more it makes sense to him. Unfortunately, throughout history, witches have been stereotyped to be evil hags with ill intentions.
Though you are the opposite; you are beautiful, kind, helpful, and would never intentionally harm anyone with your magic.
So he vows to protect you at any cost. He may not know how yet, but he is certain that he will find a way.

Arcana MC: Persephone
Tumblr media
Credit goes to the lovely @nezb1tty for such a pretty drawing of my MC. Looking pretty and fierce 🔥
Meaning of the name - “Bringer of Destruction”, “Pure”
Family - Adriane (mother), Zafer (father), Callista, Phillipa, and Massimo (younger twin sisters brother), Safiya and Franciscus (maternal grandparents), Valentina and Vincenzo (paternal grandparents)
Nicknames - Sunshine (her family), Angel (Julian), Love (Asra), Sweet (Lucio), Sunflower (Muriel), Minx/Goddess (Valerius), Perse (Portia, Nadia, the Courtiers minus Valerius)
Favorite dish/cuisine - dolmathes, quiches, and tons of desserts (major sweet tooth)
Favorite drink - equivalent of a margarita or pina colada in the Arcana universe. Also loves red wine
Favorite flower - Ocean Lavendar
Birthday - mid July
Age - 25
Gender - Female
Zodiac - Cancer Sun, Leo Moon, Gemini Venus, Taurus Rising
Personality - ESFP (”The Entertainer”)
Patron Arcana - Queen of Cups
Upright: She is nurturing, caring, compassionate, and sensitive. She is the embodiment of the “nurturing mother” energy.
Reversed: She will draw inwards and focus on her own emotional well-being before helping others. She will be set firm in her boundaries and not take on the emotional baggage of others.
Appearance:
- She is about 5′7″ - 5′8″, with dark hair that has natural highlights when displayed under light. She has brown eyes with flecks of hazel that appear lighter in brightly lit areas. Her hair has to be brushed constantly wet as it can be naturally wavy.
- Smells like lavendar, since she has the plants all around the shop, and has soft skin from using shea butter to moisturize.
- She has a scar on her knee from an accident when she was two years old. She is also naturally athletic and flexible due to fencing, horseback riding, dancing, and hiking. Has some miraculous upper body strength as well.
- Pink, plump lips; slim black eyebrows, and some angular features that are emphasized when she is mad or when she is happy or sad.
- She has slender hands and fingers, which she sometimes likes to accessorize.
Languages spoken - the common Vesuvian dialect, Latin, Italian, and Old World Greek dialect (think Sophocles’ Greek)
Hobbies -
- Aside from her athleticism, she has been known to sing around the shop. Those who wandered by her shop would hear her and make requests. Occasionally, she has sung for the theater group that Julian is a part of, which is how he met her.
- She is an avid reader, and always has the shelves in her shop stacked.
- Given that she also has a sweet tooth, she’ll always be trying new recipes for desserts she’s curious about
Powers and abilities - Elemental magic of Water 💦 and Earth 🌎 , Telekinesis, and Healing
- The magic in her family is matrilineal, as her mother had some abilities with fire. Her grandmother had used air to their advantage as well.
- Her family are merchants, so she traveled a lot during childhood. In doing so, she was able to encounter others who had similar abilities to hers. Her family encouraged her talents, finding some of the best teachers and healers to help her sharpen her skills. She has used her Earth and Water abilities to grow herbs for concocting remedies.
- Her telekinetic abilities are more in tuned with her emotions. For example, she was agitated and afraid in a scuffle with a stranger, as was looking for a weapon to defend herself. In her state of mind, she managed to trap him in the Earth by throwing a piece of metal at him with her mind. Another time, she saved her younger brother from drowning by drawing water away from him and forming a dry path for his escape.
Given that she had been trained since childhood, the Devil sees Persephone as a powerful weapon for his potential use.
Love Interests - I am thinking of possibly pairing her with either Asra, Julian, Lucio, Muriel, or Valerius.
She’s best buds with Portia and Nadia, and some of the Courtiers, but is wary of Valdemar.
Backstory
She was born near the Aegean Sea, along the chain of islands. Her family is a mix of the Mediterranean region. Given that her family traveled frequently as merchants, Persephone always saw the world as her oyster and wanted to seek more in life. On her 18th birthday, she was gifted the shop from a distant aunt that she saw very little of. Her family encouraged her to see more of the world, but not without writing often.
When she came to Vesuvia, Asra quickly noticed her given her compassionate nature. She saw some orphans ransacking a fruit cart, and decided to pay for the stolen food to placate the angry owner. Given his abandonment as a child, Asra saw her as a type of kind soul.
She met Julian when she decided to start singing for the community theater. He liked her singing voice and her friendly nature, since it always got them encores for performances. It was through Julian, Persephone met Portia and Portia would invite her to the palace at times. Nadia saw Persephone as a kind soul to lend a listening ear to every now and then.
Of course Lucio and the Courtiers saw her as someone naive, but was taken aback given easily she never fell for their facades and such. Unfortunately, such a kind soul lost her life to the plague at the age of 24. She was coming back from the market, excited to try a new recipe, until she collapsed at the front of her door. The only think Asra found was her glove left behind, but by the time he figured things out, it was too late.
When she was resurrected, she just remembered that she was coming back from the market and her family. The faces of Vesuvia had become a blur to her. She felt more anxious than normal because some recognized her, but she couldn’t do the same, and she didn’t know if she was being stalked or why something felt as if it was missing. For an extrovert like herself, she felt closed off and cut off inside her heart.
The other picture down below is another style of her by the sweet @artbyfarouche-eclaire
This would be the type of dress she would wear to the Vesuvia Ball scene. It may also be the same one for Asra, Julian, Muriel, and Valerius (or at least some variation of it).

My Journey
At the tender age of thirty-five, I have discovered anime. Don’t get me wrong, I first watched Princess Mononoke at sixteen. It was my first exposure to Eastern thought, and it blew my tiny adolescent western mind, and I loved it. But outside of Ghibli movies and Voltron (which I don’t count), I’ve never sought it out on my own.
As a previous post might indicate, I am obsessed with Godzilla, so it isn’t as if I’m closed off from Japanese media. Most of the video games I play are Japanese. (Fire Emblem, Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, pretty much anything Nintendo.) One of my partners is even a Pacific Islander of Japanese descent, who lived in Japan, who speaks Japanese. And we’ve been together seven years. But all of the sudden, now I’m on this quest to make up for lost time and consume all the anime I can.
(Note: If you have suggestions, I would love them. But I would prefer if they were queer. I want women in love with other women. It doesn’t have to be overt, but I don’t want any heterosexual romances, and would prefer as few male characters as possible. I’ve seen enough male-driven storylines, thanks.)
But today, I am here to word-vomit all about the queer extravaganza that is Senki Zesshou Symphogear. Because I am addicted. I’ll start with this picture.
Tumblr media
And so begins our journey...
The show starts out the gate being super gay. Tsubasa (Blue) and Kanade (Red) are each a half of the singing duo Zwei Wing. They refer to one another as partners and there is a lot of “We can do anything as long as we’re together” and “I’m going to sing with you forever” type stuff.
Then there is Hibiki and Miku:
Tumblr media
Friends since childhood, they are the core couple of the show. Hibiki is the main character who typically discovers she’s not just a normal girl and has the ability to wield a Gear, which allows her to become this adorable badass superhero. Miku is her anchor in the mundane world. She is frequently the one person or thing that can reach/inspire/motivate Hibiki. She is what drives Hibiki.
Hibiki calls Miku her sunflower, the place where she is warmest, where she will always return to.
Tumblr media
Which brings me to the point that they share a bed. Despite having bunk beds, they always sleep together. Except when they’re fighting, then they go to their respective bunks. It’s just so cute.
The characters are delightfully complex. Hibiki is as pure as the driven snow but she isn’t naive. Usually, pure characters are oblivious or ignorant to the danger or evil around them, but Hibiki isn’t. She knows fighting is dangerous. She knows people can be evil, but those things never deter her. It makes her incredibly brave, even when confronted with someone she knows is malicious, she extends her hand in friendship because she chooses to believe the best in others. It is nice to see a character who is sweet and pure without being an utter dumbass.
We’ve all seen it. The sweet, precious hero is surprised that the bad guy who has been trying to kill them for an entire season won’t be their friend. Hibiki is NOT like that. She always gives people the opportunity for kindness without expectation, with the full awareness that it might be rejected.
Miku is the sweet, somewhat demure, nurturing one. She is the caretaker character. You might initially think she’s the standard timid and meek best friend stock character. But nope. She does not suffer fools. She is not an enabler. She is not afraid to call anybody out on their bullshit, regardless of who they are. She does what she thinks is right which also makes her very brave. She wants to protect Hibiki as much as Hibiki protects her.
Their dynamic is just lovely. Hibiki can kind of be a mess sometimes. She’s absent-minded, never on time, doesn’t prioritize school work. Miku is always there to pull her back down to earth, to center her. If she feels Hibiki is losing focus or deviating from who she is, Miku will always be the one to ground her. She truly is Hibiki’s anchor, her safe place. And I love it.
Oh and there is my dear Yukine Chris. I won’t go super in detail, but I will leave you with this:
Tumblr media
It is exactly what it looks like. A queer D/s relationship. Unfortunately, it’s toxic and unhealthy. A whole lot of “I’m the only one that can love you” and “You have to obey me or I won’t love you anymore” and “I’m angry so you have to let me take it out on you” and so on. It’s all taken directly from the Abusive Relationship Handbook.
But worry not, we are not subjected to the toxicity for terribly long, and Chris gets the kindness and love she deserves from her new friends and senpai. I’d go more in depth, but y’know... spoilers.
Now, let us march forward to season two where our Roster of Queerness is completed by three additional characters. Two of which are so cute I cannot even fucking stand it.
I call them my Precious Gay Babies.
Tumblr media
Kirika and Shirabe are two little baby gays that grew up in an orphanage with only one another and Maria, who is like a big sister to them. But oh my fucking god they are so precious I can’t even handle it.

Kirika is the more animated of the two. The sweet, cheerful ray of sunshine. And Shirabe is the quieter, more solemn of the two. They literally have a fight where they are shouting back and forth at each other how much they love one another. If this show was only about them, I would watch it. They are just way too cute.
Shirabe can be a little possessive of Kirika, and Kirika knows who she belongs to. If another girl touches her, she knows Shirabe will put the stomp down on it. I usually find behavior like that kind of squicky and toxic, but in this instance it isn’t too gross because I think it’s rooted in their background. They’ve only ever had one another so they’re extremely protective of each other.
I mean, just look.
Tumblr media
Look at my Precious Gay Babies!
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM!!
They are so cute and precious and I love them.
Let me wrap this up with Maria.
Tumblr media
I won’t go too in depth with Maria because I don’t want to be spoiler-y. But 1) She’s fantastic. 2) No, I don’t know what’s up with her hair. 3) She is totally queer for Tsubasa, and I’m sailing on that ship.
Tumblr media
I am midway through the fourth season. So, I haven’t caught up to the most current season (5) but holy hell. I am invested.
It’s just a bunch of girls (oh! And there is even a genderless, sexless character who is precious and I love) being in love with other girls and fighting monster things.
I fucking love this show. Right now, it’s kind of vying for top spot with Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. Which may only be my number one because it’s a little more overt in its women sleeping with other women thing. It’s equal parts “fuck yes!” combined with “am I high right now?” That’ll be my next post, I digress.
If you are in the mood for some light but surprisingly good entertainment featuring a strong line of female characters who all fall in love with one another, then I cannot recommend Senki Zesshou Symphogear enough. It is fan-fucking-tastic. It doesn’t require too much thought, but it makes up for it by giving you a ton of warm, fuzzy feels.
And if you can recommend me anything similar. Or anything that heavily features queer women, I would be forever in your debt.
Oh, and PS there is a mobile game, which is how I found the show in the first place. Downloaded the game, played it, then got all fucked up on the anime. Worth it.

The electric vehicle with no engine as the 12 DC motor takes that place and the gear box made much more big to be soft on the motor rotating part, the gear changing to make it go in-front or backwards or on slope or flat topography as much as going down slop takes the system of the push/pull fan speed system and it emanates from not the gear box but from the 12 Dc motor as the fan described above and it can be digital as which gear u r on to be displayed on screen as much as the speed and even with motorbikes and speedboats. The mobile charger below uses the fan timer or cooker technology to recharge ya phone at no extra-fee and Big Generators as well have been made that way and still in store as much as with motorbikes or vehicles battery system which the above replaces

Season 1 Masterlist
“Happy Birthday!”
I woke up abruptly, rubbing my bleary eyes to see my mom and dad wearing cheesy party hats and gleeful expressions.
“Thanks, mom and dad, but it’s—” I snuck a look at my iHome. “—actually a normal time. I thought it was earlier.”
“Can we take these hats off, now?” Dad complained to mom. “They’re awfully uncomfortable.”
“Finn, honestly—” Mom sighed. “Yes, you can take it off, she’s seen it already.”
I grinned at my parents, loving how their relationship was even after almost thirty years together.
“So,” Mom turned to me, her expression hopeful. “Did it come in yet?”
I looked at my wrists and saw nothing. No writing or anything. But that was to be expected. It wasn’t five p.m. yet.
“No, and you know there won’t be until five, mom.” I pursed my lips at her playfully.
At the age of sixteen at the exact time they were born, everyone gets a soul mark of a person’s name on one of their wrists. It was a taboo thing; people didn’t like to talk about it, as some people don’t even have a soul mark. I know Scott doesn’t have one. And some people have two names, in which case a name appears after their first soulmate dies, which is very rare.
“Eleven hours until five o’clock.” Mom grinned while dad looked nauseous.
“Dad, you don’t have to look so upset,” I laughed. “It’ll be ages before I meet him.”
“Or her.” Mom chimed in.
“Or her.” I agreed.
“Sorry, munchkin.” Dad forced a laugh. “I just don’t like the thought of you leaving us.”
I gave dad an indulgent smile, thinking that his sappiness was sweet. “Dad, today’s my sixteenth birthday; I won’t leave you yet.”
Dad finally smiled, the skin by his eyes wrinkling up. “Well, we’ll leave you to get dressed. We need to go finish breakfast.”
My parents bustled out of my room, allowing me to get up and get ready. I picked out a black camisole and paired it with a black and pink floral skirt. I topped the camisole with a pink cardigan and finished the look off with black tights and black, high-heeled ankle boots.
My phone chimed with a text while I was putting my hair up into a milkmaid braid. I looked to see that it was a text from Scott, wishing me a happy birthday and that he needed to talk to me and Stiles as soon as possible. I quickly sent him a reply and finished my hair.
I grabbed my white leather purse, slipping my wand into it, and walked downstairs, my nose twitching at the smell of baked cinnamon. I entered the kitchen to see the breakfast table laden down with cinnamon rolls, eggs, bacon, sausages, and toast.
We had a nice breakfast, talking and catching up. I didn’t dare tell them about Scott being a werewolf, but I knew it would come up sometime. Just not now.
“So, how are you getting to school?” Mom asked casually.
I looked at her confused. “Uh, I was just gonna catch a ride with you guys, why?”
Neither of them said anything, instead, dad held out an arm and opened his fist. In his hand were keys with a silver keychain that said ‘Y/N’ on it.
“No way.” I gasped, feeling elated. My own car? I’ll take it.
“Yes way.” Dad grinned. “A Jeep Renegade, just like you wanted.”
“In navy blue?” I wondered. It didn’t matter to me, but I was just checking to see if they went all out.
“In navy blue.” Dad confirmed.
I squealed and jumped up from my seat, giving each of them a tight hug. Together we walked out to the driveway, where my brand-new jeep was sitting, gleaming in the morning sunlight.
“Oh, my God, thank you so much!” I cried, wrapping them both into another hug. “Oh, I love you guys so much.”
“We love you, too, sweetheart.” Mom smiled, cupping my chin gently. “Now get going. Don’t forget we have your birthday dinner with the Stilinski’s tonight.”
“I won’t forget.” I assured her, grabbing my purse from my dad. I walked to my jeep and got in, loving that new car smell.
I quickly hooked up my phone to the Bluetooth and played music, pulling out of the driveway, and thanking God that I had actually gone to those Driver’s Ed classes and gotten my license on time.
The ride to school was, unfortunately, fast, but Scott and Stiles were waiting by the school for me.
“Happy Birthday!” They greeted in unison, while Scott thrust a bouquet of sunflowers at me that were from him and Melissa.
“Thanks, guys.” I grinned at them.
“I have your present for later.” Stiles told me. “Dad and I went in on it, so he wanted to see your reaction.”
“Okay.” I shrugged. “That reminds me… Scott, did you want to come over for dinner? We’re celebrating my birthday. Melissa can come too. We’re having homemade pizza.”
“Sure.” Scott smiled. “I love your mom’s pizza.”
“Great.” I nodded. “Now, tell us about your text.”
Scott started explaining about this dream he had, where he and Allison were about to get it on, until Scott lost control and attacked Allison, basically killing her in a school bus.
“So, you killed her?” Stiles asked, opening the door for me and Scott.
“I don’t know.” Scott shrugged. “I just woke up. And I was sweating like crazy, and I couldn’t breathe. I’ve never had a dream where I woke up like that before.”
“Really?” Stiles raised his eyebrows. “I have. Usually ends a little differently.”
I scrunched up my nose and turned away, trying not to think about Stiles having wet dreams about Lydia. I just had to ignore it for a few more hours. Later today I would get my soul mate’s name, and then I could focus my time on someone other than Stiles.
“’A,’ I meant I’ve never had a dream that felt that real,” Scott said in a disgusted tone. “And ‘B,’ never give me that much detail about you in bed again.”
“Noted.” Stiles sighed.
“So,” I started, “Let me take a guess here—”
“No,” Scott cut me off. “I know, you think it has something to do with me going out with Allison tomorrow, like I’m gonna lose control and rip her throat out.”
“No, of course not.” I lied. Both Scott and Stiles gave me disbelieving looks. “Yeah, that’s totally it.”
“Hey, come on, it’s gonna be fine, all right?” Stiles said positively. “Personally, I think you’re handling this pretty fuckin’ great, okay? You know, it’s not like there’s a lycanthropy for beginners class you can take.”
Scott and I exchanged looks, both of us probably thinking the same thing. Derek Hale.
“Yeah, not a class, but maybe a teacher.” Scott suggested.
“Who, Derek?” Stiles exclaimed, pausing before slapping Scott on the back of the head. “You forgetting the part where we got him tossed in jail?”
“Yeah, I know, but chasing her, dragging her to the back of the bus, it felt so real.” Scott said.
“How real?” I asked.
“Like it actually happened.” Scott answered as he and Stiles pushed open the doors to go outside.
I gasped at the sight before me. A buts was parked outside of the school, its back door ripped halfway off with claw marks and splats of blood everywhere. It was exactly as Scott had described in his dream, and my worry for Allison bubbled within my stomach.
“I think it did.” Stiles said, mouth wide open with shock.
I fumbled with my bag, trying to grab my iPhone out of one of the silly pockets. Scott seemed to have the same idea as me, taking out his phone as well. I unlocked my screen and frantically texted Allison, wondering where she was. There was no reply and one glance at Scott showed that he was getting the same results as me.
We raced back into the school, searching the hallways for the familiar dark head of curls. We had no luck, so Scott and I kept pression on, with Stiles trailing behind us.
“She’s probably fine.” Stiles tried to calm us down.
“She’s not answering our texts, Stiles.” I said nervously.
Stiles grabbed my hand, causing me to calm down a fraction. How he could soothe me with just one touch amazed me.
“It could just be a coincidence, all right?” Stiles spoke soothingly. “A seriously amazing coincidence.”
Scott glanced back at me and Stiles. “Just help me find her, okay? Do you see her?”
I looked around, but I couldn’t spot the Argent girl.
“No,” Stiles and I said in unison.
Scott turned down a different hall, getting lost in the crowd. Stiles and I turned to each other, at a lost at what we could do.
“Hey, come here,” Stiles said suddenly, grabbing my arm and pulling me to the side of the hallway so that we weren’t in the way of people. He took off his backpack and rummaged through it, pulling out a small white box.
“I, uh,” He rubbed his head awkwardly. “I know I said I already got you something, but I wanted to give you this as well.”
I smiled warmly at him. “You didn’t have to, Stiles.”
“Of course, I did.” Stiles said indignantly. “You’re my—you’re Y/N.”
I gave him a small smile as he handed me the box. I took the top off and gasped as I looked at the ring inside. It was simple, but perfect, with a silver band and a single garnet stone in the middle. My birthstone.
“It was my mother’s.” Stiles said, watching as I slid it onto my right hand. “She left it for you, she loved you, said you were the best goddaughter out there.”
I glanced up at him, noticing the sadness in his eyes as he talked about his mom.
“I loved her, too.” I assured Stiles. “It’s beautiful, Stiles, thank you.”
I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around his firm waist, resting my head on his chest. I could hear his heart beating fast as he wrapped his long arms around my shoulders and squeeze tight.
I breathed in his intoxicating scent and savored the moment, because there, with Stiles’ arms around me, and mine around him, I felt like I was floating on cloud nine.
“Attention, students, this is your principal.” The overhead speaker boomed. “I know you’re all wondering about the incident that occurred last night to one of our buses. While the police work to determine what happened, classes with proceed as scheduled.”
Having parted from each other as the principal was speaking, I watched as Stiles sighed in disappointment like most of the other students in the hall.
“Come on.” I laughed, elbowing him playfully. “Walk me to class?”
“Why, of course.”
And off we went.
“Maybe it was my blood on the door.” Scott said later in chemistry class, turning around in his seat to look at me and Stiles.
“Could have been animal blood.” Stiles suggested. “You know, maybe you caught a rabbit or something.”
“And did what?” Scott asked, disgusted.
“Ate it.”
“Raw?” Scott looked appalled.
“No, you stopped to bake it in a little werewolf oven.” Stiles said sarcastically, rolling his eyes. “I don’t know, you’re the one who can’t remember anything.”
“Mr. Stilinski, if that’s your idea of a hushed whisper, you might want to pull the headphones out every once in a while.” Mr. Harris called from the front of the classroom, his hands on his hips.
Stiles laughed mockingly.
“I think you, Mr. McCall, and Miss Stark would benefit from a little distance, yes?” Mr. Harris continued.
“No.” Stiles objected softly. Mr. Harris ignored him, pointing to two empty seats for Stiles and Scott to take on the opposite sides of the room from each other while I stayed in the same seat.
“Let me know if the separation anxiety gets to be too much.” Mr. Harris quipped as the boys moved to their new seats.
Stiles scoffed, hauling his books and bag to the back of the classroom. Scott sat at the front with a girl named Harley, who was staring out the window.
“Hey, I think they found something.” She exclaimed suddenly, running to the window.
The whole class got up to walk to the window to see what Harley was talking about. I walked up behind Scott and Stiles, but I was too short to see over them.
“That’s not a rabbit.” Scott murmured to Stiles.
Suddenly, whatever the class saw made them all scream and jump back, causing me to startle a bit. Scott slowly backed away from the window with a horrified look on his face. Stiles joined Scott and I, a relieved look upon his facial features.
“Okay.” He said, patting Scott on the shoulder. “This is good, this is good. He got up, he’s not dead. Dead guys can’t do that.”
“Stiles,” Scott said solemnly. “I did that.”
-
“Okay, but dreams aren’t memories.” I argued softly as Stiles, Scott, and I walked to an empty lunch table, our trays laden down with food. I sat down while Stiles sat on my right, with Scott across from him.
“Then it wasn’t a dream,” Scott said. “Something happened last night, and I can’t remember what.”
“What makes you so sure that Derek even has all the answers?” Stiles asked, bringing up the older, grumpy wolf.
“Because during the full moon he wasn’t changed. He was in total control while I was running around in the middle of the night attacking some totally innocent guy.” Scott huffed.
“You don’t know that.” Stiles said firmly.
“I don’t not know it.” Scott countered. “I can’t go out with Allison. I have to cancel.”
My mouth opened in surprise. How could he just cancel on Allison like that? Especially when all she’s been talking about lately was Scott.
“No, you’re not cancelling, okay?” I said. “You can’t just cancel your entire life.”
Stiles nodded from beside me. “Y/N is right, Scott. We’ll figure it out.”
A tray slammed on the table in the spot next to Scott. I looked up to see Lydia standing there with a charming smile on her face.
“Figure out what?” She asked, before turning to me. “Happy Birthday, Y/N.”
“Thanks, Lydia.” I smiled begrudging at her. “And we were just talking about homework.”
“Yeah,” Stiles added breathlessly. He looked at me and whispered lowly, “Why is she sitting with us?”
I shrugged and looked up to see Allison sit in the chair across from me.
“Happy Birthday, Y/N!” She smiled sweetly at me, before handing me a chocolate chip cookie.
“Thanks, Al.” I beamed at her as Jackson walked up to the table.
“Get up.” He commanded the boy who was sitting at the head of the table.
They guy looked extremely offended. “How come you never ask Danny to get up?”
Danny, who was on the other side of Stiles, quipped, “Because I don’t stare at his girlfriend’s coin slot.”
The guy huffed loudly and got up, going to take a seat elsewhere.
“So,” Danny started casually, “I hear they’re saying it’s some type of animal attack. Probably a cougar.”
Jackson shook his head in disagreement. “I heard mountain lion.”
“A cougar is a mountain lion.” Lydia corrected him quietly. To her chagrin, we all heard her. Jackson even gave her a weird look. “Isn’t it?”
“Who cares?” Jackson said rudely. “The guy’s probably some homeless tweaker who’s gonna did anyway.”
“Actually, I just found out who it is.” Stiles said, looking at his phone. “Check it out.”
He held his phone out, so everyone could see what he was talking about.
“The Sheriff’s department won’t speculate on details of the incident but confirmed the victim, Garrison Meyers, did survive the attack.” The reporter on the video said. “Meyers was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.”
“I know this guy,” Scott stuttered, taking Stiles’ phone into his hands.
“You do?” Allison asked as Stiles and I exchanged worried looks.
Scott nodded. “Yeah, when I used to take the bus back when I lived with my dad. He was the driver.”
“Can we talk about something slightly more fun, please?” Lydia drawled. “Like, oh,” She turned to Allison abruptly. “Where are we going tomorrow night? You said you and Scott were hanging out tomorrow night, right?”
Allison swallowed her food, glancing worriedly at Scott. “Um, we were thinking of what we were gonna do.”
“Well,” said Lydia briskly. “I am not sitting home again watching lacrosse videos, so it the four of us are hanging out, we are doing something fun.”
“Hanging out?” Scott stammered, looking bewilderedly at a regretful Allison. “Like, the four of us? Do you wanna hang out, like us and them?”
Allison looked at me for help, and I grimaced at her. I didn’t know what to do in this situation. On one hand, Lydia was being rude by barging her way into Scott and Allison’s date. On the other hand, I’m sure she didn’t mean anything by it, and Allison would look rude if she said no.
I think Allison had the same lines of thinking, because she answered hesitantly, “Yeah, I guess. Sounds fun.”
Jackson scoffed and reached for his fork, holding it up to his face. “You know what else sounds fun? Stabbing myself in the face with this fork.”
Lydia pried the fork from his hand and gasped excitedly. “How ‘bout bowling?” She asked Jackson. “You love to bowl.”
“Yeah, with actual competition.” Jackson snarked.
Allison leaned forward, a challenging look on her face. “How do you know we’re not actual competition?” She looked towards Scott, “You can bowl, right?”
“Sort of.” Scott answered, his face screwed up.
Jackson leaned forward, putting his arms on the table as he leaned into them. “Is it sort of, or yes?”
Scott scowled. “Yes.” He lied, “In fact, I’m a great bowler.”
I twisted my lips together to hold back a laugh. Scott was a horrible bowler. In fact, the last time he bowled was at my eighth birthday party. He had gone to throw the bowling ball down the lane and accidently threw the ball backwards. The damn thing landed on my foot, and I landed in the hospital on my birthday, sobbing, with Stiles trying to cheer me up and Scott apologizing to me profusely.
Stiles and I hadn’t had time to confront Scott on his colossal lie throughout the day, so when we approached him when school ended, Stiles burst out, shouting, “You’re a terrible bowler.”
We walked down the stairs to the first level of the school.
“I know!” Scott exclaimed. “I’m such an idiot.”
I reached out and patted him on the shoulder. “You’re not an idiot, Scott.”
“Thanks, Y/N.” Scott smiled down at me.
“God,” Stiles interrupted, literally squeezing in between Scott and I. “It was like watching a car wreck. I mean, first it turned into the whole group date thing. And then out of nowhere comes that phrase.”
“Hang out.” Scott and Stiles said together.
“You don’t hang out with hot girls, okay?” Stiles continued. “It’s like death. Once it’s hanging out, you might as well be her gay best friend. You and Danny can start hanging out.”
I frowned at him. Why he insinuating that I was ugly? I mean, we hung out all the time, and I know he’s not gay.
“How is this happening?” Scott moaned. “I either killed a guy or I didn’t—”
“I don’t think Danny likes me very much.” Stiles pondered aloud.
“—I ask Allison on a date, and now we’re hanging out—”
“Am I not attractive to gay guys?” Stiles asked Scott and I, completely ignoring the fact that Scott was freaking out.
“—I make first line, and the team captain wants to destroy me,” Scott went on, “And now—now I’m gonna be late for work.”
Scott walked away from us, mumbling to himself, and leaving Stiles and I alone.
“Wait, Scott, you didn’t—am I attractive to gay guy—you didn’t answer my question.” Stiles pouted.
I gave him a confused look. “Why do you want to know if you’re attractive to gay guys?”
Stiles shrugged. “I dunno.”
We started walking out of the school towards the jeep.
“Stiles,” I started. “Are you gay?”
“What?” Stiles asked, shocked. “No! Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay, but I like girls. In fact, I love them. Why?”
“Well, you said only gay guys hang out with hot girls. We hang out all the time.” I said slowly. “So, if you’re not gay, that must mean I’m not attractive.”
Stiles stopped in his tracks and grabbed my arm, stopping me from walking any further.
“Wha—” He stopped and shook his head. “Of course, you’re attractive, Y/N. You’re one of the hottest girls in school.”
I blushed, my cheeks turning hot and pink.
“Come on,” I said, grinning like a fool. “Come look at my new jeep.”
-
Mieczyslaw
I stared at the name written on my wrist in slanted writing. I didn’t know anyone named Mieczyslaw, but the name sounded Polish. Maybe I would meet him when on a trip overseas or something.
“Y/N, the Stilinski’s and the McCall’s are here!” Mom called from downstairs, shaking me out of my daze.
“Coming!” I called, walking over to my vanity and grabbing a chunky bracelet to put on my wrist, covering the writing for now. I would talk to my parents later, but for now, Mieczyslaw would be my little secret.
-
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Y/N! Happy birthday to you!” My friends and family sang as my mom brought a large chocolate cake into the dining room where we were all sitting.
My cheeks flushed at their attention as I blew out all the candles in one blow. Everyone clapped loudly, cheering my name. Scott even threw in a cake cheer.
We opened presents as we ate the double chocolate cake.
Scott and Melissa got me a beautiful leather-bound journal with a elephant carved on the front. Mom and dad got me some books about potion making and a few cookbooks, as I had mentioned that I wanted to get into cooking and brewing.
But Noah and Stiles’ present was my favorite.
They presented me with a large photo album, filled to the brim with pictures of me, Stiles, and Scott, along with our families. There were even some pictures of Stiles and I in the bathtub together when we were toddlers.
“This was the best birthday.” I told them all sincerely. “Thank you so much for everything.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart. Now, did you get a name?” Melissa, still in her work scrubs, asked eagerly.
“I’m not sharing.” I told her, my lips quirking up a little.
Later that night, after getting interrogated about the name on my wrist by all the parents, Scott pulled Stiles and I aside, telling us that we needed to go the bus where Garrison Meyers was attacked. Apparently, Scott had went to Derek’s house to find out what happened, and Derek told him to go back to the bus and use his senses to remember.
So, after giving an excuse to the parents, we headed off to the bus garage. When we got out of the jeep, we walked up to the closed gate and Stiles put a foot in one of the links, ready to hoist himself up over the fence.
“Hey, no, just me.” Scott objected. “Someone needs to keep watch and stay with Y/N.”
I scowled at Scott, I was not defenseless.
“How come I’m always the guy keeping watch over Y/N?” Stiles whined.
“Because there’s only two of us.” Scott retorted.
“Okay, why’s it starting to feel like you’re Batman and I’m Robin?” Stiles said seriously. “I don’t want to be Robin all the time.”
“Nobody’s Batman and Robin any of the time.” Scott sighed.
“Not even some of the time?” Stiles asked in a disappointed tone.
Scott glared at him. “Just stay here.”
“Oh, my God!” Stiles yelled exasperated. “Fine. Come on, Y/N.”
He grabbed my arm and pulled me back towards the jeep, while I followed him willingly.
We sat in silence as we watched Scott scale the fence and run to the bloody bus. Stiles was unusually quiet, and I knew that it had something to do with what just transpired.
“You okay?” I asked him softly.
Stiles blew out a long breath. “I just—I just feel useless, you know? Like I’m not important.”
My heart broke as I watched his sad and disappointed face. How could he say that? Did he not know how important he was to me?
“I’ll never be the hero.” He continued. “Always the sidekick, I guess.”
“Hey,” I said strongly, capturing his attention. “Just because you don’t have powers doesn’t make you any less important than Scott.” He opened his mouth to argue, but I kept on, “No I mean it, Stiles. And who says you’re not a hero? You’re my hero. I mean, who talks with me for hours after I have a bad dream?”
Stiles said nothing.
“Who, Stiles?” I prodded, wanting an answer from him.
“Me.” He mumbled.
“Who let me drive his jeep during Driver’s Ed?”
“Me.” Stiles repeated.
“Who has to live with ADHD and constantly get good grades? Who did all the research to find out if Scott was a werewolf? You did, Stiles. You’re a damn good friend, an even better hero, and you are very important to me.” I said firmly as he watched me with an open mouth.
Finally, he smiled a little, the corners of his full lips turning up. “This is why you’re my Y/N.”
“Aw, shucks,” I waved at him.
We sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, until suddenly Stiles swore, “Fuck!”
“What?” I looked at him alarmed. He didn’t answer, instead pressing on the horn two times.
I looked to see flashlights approaching the bus that Scott was currently exploring.
“Shit.” I muttered, climbing into the back seat.
“Come on—” Stiles groaned as Scott came running out of the bus. He jumped on the bed of a truck and flipped over the fence, speeding his way to the jeep.
“Come on!” Stiles shouted as Scott opened the passenger door.
“Go! Go! Go! Go!” Scott rushed out, causing Stiles to step on the gas and sending us into reverse.
“Did it work?” I asked, leaning up to put my head between the two boys. “Did you remember?”
“Yeah,” Scott nodded, breathless. “I was there last night. And the blood—a lot of it was mine.”
“So, you did attack him?” Stiles guessed, taking his eyes off the road briefly to look at Scott.
“No.” Scott answered simply. “I saw glowing eyes in the bus, but they weren’t mine. It was Derek.”
“What about the driver?” I prodded, ignoring Scott’s theory about Derek.
“I think I was actually trying to protect him.”
“Wait,” Stiles said, clearly not over what Scott said about Derek. “Why would Derek help you remember that he attacked the driver?”
Scott sighed and shook his head. “That’s what I don’t get.”
“It’s got to be a pack thing.”
Scott looked to Stiles, confused. “What do you mean?”
“Like an initiation. You do the kill together.” Stiles theorized.
Scott scoffed. “Because ripping someone’s throat out is a real bonding experience?”
“Yeah, but you didn’t do it, which means you’re not a killer.” I said as I patted Scott on the shoulder.
“It also means that—” Stiles started but was quickly interrupted by Scott.
“I can go out with Allison.” He sighed dreamily. I giggled under my breath. What a love-sick fool.
“I was actually gonna say it means that you won’t kill Y/N and I.” Stiles grumbled.
“Oh yeah,” Scott said in a casual voice. “That too.”
-
Thump!
I furrowed my eyebrows and turned around, narrowing my eyes at the photo album that Noah and Stiles gave me. It had fallen off my bed as I got off of it, making a tipi-like shape on the floor.
“Y/N, hurry up,” Mom called from the hall. “We have to drop you off at the Stilinski’s!”
“Okay, mom, let me pack a bag really quick.” I told her, grabbing the photo album off the floor and setting on my bed, intending to pack it for my stay at Stiles’ house.
My parents were going on a weekend getaway. Why they had planned it my birthday week was beyond me, but they’d had it planned for months, so they couldn’t get the money back from the hotel that they were staying at.
I had offered to stay at home, but my parents overwhelmingly shot the idea down, insisting that I’d get myself in any trouble I could find. So, I was staying at the Stilinski residence until Monday.
I quickly packed some clothes in my Vera Bradley weekend bag, and shoved the photo album in there as well, fully intending on looking it over front to back tonight before I went to sleep.
The ride to Stiles’ house was quick, and the goodbyes were quicker, as my parents were eager to get on their way. Noah wasn’t home when I arrived, but Stiles was, so we ordered Chinese food from our favorite Asian place and sat down to eat.
We talked about how we thought Scott’s group date was going, and we both had not-so-positive answers. Well, mine was okay, because I knew that Allison liked Scott, but Stiles’ was more negative.
“He sucks at bowling, so I bet Jackson’s laughing his fucking ass off at him.” Stiles prophesized, eating a bite of broccoli.
“True.” I agreed, eating some chow Mein. “I bet Allison is giving him tips, though.”
“I still think Scott will royally fail, though.” Stiles laughed. “Remember when he broke your—”
“Yes, I remember.” I scowled playfully at him. “What a great memory to bring up.”
“Sorry, sorry.” Stiles chuckled. “But you have to admit it’s kind of funny now.”
“It’s a little funny.” I admitted, a smile breaking through my lips.
After dinner we watched, to Stiles’ insistence, the first two Star Wars movies, and then I told him I was heading to the guest room, intending to fall asleep.
I snuggled into the comfortable bed and pulled out my photo album, opening up to a random page. The first photo that caught my attention was Stiles and I when we were maybe three years old. Stiles had picked a dandelion and held it out to me, where I was smiling cheekily.
I slid the picture out of the sleeve and turned it over, hoping that the year was written on the back. It was, and so were our names.
Y/N and Mieczyslaw. 1999.
My hands trembled, and I let out a gasp. Stiles’ real name was Mieczyslaw? It had to be. It was on the picture in Claudia’s handwriting.
I got up out of the bed and walked to the door, deciding that I was going to go ask Stiles about this. I opened the door and wandered down the hall, walking to Stiles’ room and knocking on his door with a closed fist.
Stiles opened the door, a curious expression on his face.
“What’s wrong, Y/N?” He asked.
“Your name.” I replied. “It’s Mieczyslaw?”
Color drained from his face and he stumbled back into his room, letting me follow him in. The room was a pigsty, but it was mostly clothes strewn on the ground.
“How’d you know?” Stiles asked.
“This picture.” I told him, holding up the photo so he could see the back of it.
“Fuck.” He whispered, putting his hand over his mouth.
“Do you know what name’s on my wrist, Stiles?” I asked, looking down at his carpeted floor.
“My name.” He said softly.
“And how’d you figure that out?” I wondered, not putting two and two together.
“Because your name’s on my wrist.” Stiles admitted.
I closed my eyes and shook my head, not believing that he kept this from me for close to nine months. Tears started gathering in my eyes and I made no move to wipe them away.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I cried, opening my eyes to see his guilty face.
“I-I don’t—” He stammered, but I cut him off.
“The truth, Stiles!”
“I don’t love you like that.” Stiles confessed, causing me to cry out as I absorbed his words. “Y/N, I’m sorry—”
“No, you’re not.” I sobbed. “So, what, you’re just going to wait for Lydia?”
Stiles was silent, not answering my question.
“That’s why you don’t want me?”
“Y/N, please.” Stiles begged, rushing towards me. I stepped away from him. “There are plenty of platonic soulmates.”
“I’m in love with you!” I cried out tiredly. “I’ve loved you for years and you never even noticed.”
“I-I—”
“Oh, my God.” I gasped. Sadness wanted to drown me until I was dead, the air sinking out of my lungs. “I can’t believe this.”
“I-I don’t want to lose you, Y/N, please, can’t we work this out?” Stiles asked desperately, tears now glistening in his eyes.
I bit my lip and shook my head, storming out of his room. I entered the guest room and slammed the door, locking it before he could even try to enter.
“Y/N, come on.” Stiles groaned, knocking on the door. “I need you. Don’t do this.”
“You did this, Stiles.” I spat, glaring at the dark-grained door. “Just—just leave me alone.”
“Y/N—”
I laid down in the bed, ignoring his knocking for over an hour until it went silent and I cried myself to sleep.

I really wanted to move to Japan for a while to be with my friends, who are from Osaka, I went as far as to get necessary qualifications, studied Japanese and secured a job before I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that meant I needed ongoing treatment at home, I was terrified of moving to Japan because it is literally the other side of Eurasia but once the opportunity was taken away after all that work, I was devastated. I always imagined that doing these things that scare me would make me a better person and now I'm scared I'll never have a chance to right that missed opportunity.
honeysuckle; do you usually date people your age or older/younger? I operate on the 5 year rule usually; no older or younger than fiver years from my age, but I suppose I'd waive that for the right person?

Again, too many, off the top of my head: Mineko Iwasaki's Geisha of Gion, Jung Chang's Wild Swans, Anhua Gao's On the Edge of the Sky, Jo Rowlings Harry Potter series, Tolkien's Entire works, particularly Beren and Lúthien. I also really love Michelle Paver's Chronicles of Ancient Darkness and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. I also read Nigella's cookbooks like novels. I literally just sit and read them. I could write whole books on books I love and why.
foxglove; who is your favourite cartoon character? The entire cast of Pokémon is my childhood.
magnolia; coffee or tea? Tea please.
crown imperial; would you rather be extremely rich or extremely loved? Love is richness.
snowflake; are you a dog or a cat person? Why is the word or in this sentence? Unless your allergic or afraid I don't trust people who don't like animals.
bell flower; what is your biggest addiction? Junk food. Easily.
cosmos; do you ever think about the galaxy? It fascinates me endlessly, I love watching Professor Brian Cox.
moonflower; what’s your favourite colour? Brown, blue and orange.
freesia; do you have a good relationship with your parents and siblings? why/why not? I think we communicate well and they are some of my best friends.
sundrop; are you a morning or a night person? Learning to be a morning person, definitely still more of a night person. I was born with starlight in my eyes and that was my first love.
poppy; have you ever dealt with a mental illness? Yes, from both a point of view of concern for loved ones and from the point of view of not even realising how bad my own mental health was. If you want to talk about mental health either yours or that of a loved one, no matter who you are please feel free to reach out. I'm here.
clover; how would your friends describe you? You'd have to ask them, but I really hope they'd say kind.
dandelion; do you consider yourself and extrovert or an introvert? I'm an introvert that has learnt to be ambiverted.
lilly; what’s something you love watching/reading but you are too embarrassed to admit you do? That's hard, I don't really feel ashamed of things like that anymore. Two people I feel are criticised a lot, sometimes rightly so, but who I still love because I'm aware humans, including myself, are fallible (and those throwing the stones are invariably living in glass houses) are Taylor Swift and Jo Rowling.
anemone; describe yourself in 3 words. Striving for better.
lotus; best memory as a child? Any time I was having fun with my loved ones.
angelonia; what is your eye and hair colour? Blue and a really dark auburn.
dahlia; do you like crystals? They're pretty I suppose? And they feel nice and cool.
buttercup; if you could change one thing in the world, what would it be? More love and compassion.
baby’s breath; what’s your Hogwarts house? Slytherin according to Pottermore. My friends had me pegged as a Ravenclaw in the pre Pottermore days.
calendula; biggest pet peeve? When people give it that "Gotcha!" thing as  though they're irrefutably in the right, but they're still completely wrong and then they proceed to act like you just can't let an argument go, when all you are doing is refusing to be walked all over.
blanker flower; would you rather go to a cocktail party with your best friends or stay home and read a book/watch a movie with your pet? Both of these sound like great nights, I'd say the latter most of the time and the former for a change every now and then. Friday night I didn’t get home until 2am I wound down by sitting in bed with my cats watching The X-Files and eating chicken nuggets.
blazing star; share a secret. If I did, it wouldn't be a secret.
carnation; would you rather live longer or happier? Happier. Happiness is such and important thing to share.
petunia; who’s story is your biggest inspiration in life? why? So many people; I really admire my loved one because I know their struggles and still see first hand their kindness and compassion every single day.
bluebell; do you wear glasses? I do not.
nymphea; forest or river? I love both but I'll go for river.
orchid; do you like exercise? Exercise releases endorphins, for which I am very grateful.
pansy; do you like poetry? Poetry is great. I love it.
morning glory; any special talent that you have? You mean other than eating two entire tubes of pringles to myself in a single day? I can make icing flowers from scratch and bake a cake to put them on, thank to my nan.

Bisexuality
One of the worlds most pressing questions seems to be whether or not bisexuality actually exists. People who identity as bisexual have had to defend their sexuality since 1950 “when Alfred Kinsey of the University of Indiana, America’s first scientific sex researcher, argued in favor of a “sexual continuum” (Castleman, 2014). Soon after the Kinsey scale was created, scientist all over found ways to discredit him. “Their dismissals rested on three arguments: Bisexuals were heterosexuals who were “just experimenting.”  Bisexuals were people confined in single-gender institutions (prisons, monasteries) who reluctantly made do with the only available gender. Bisexuals were homosexuals who did not want to be stigmatized as such, and so they feigned attraction to the opposite sex” (Castleman, 2014). Unfortunately, after all of this time, bisexual people are still not getting the representation and awareness that they deserve. The following interview questions expose the exclusivity and bi-erasure in sex-ed.
Tumblr media
Khalessi:
At what age did you take sex ed?
We didn’t have it. My friend gave me a sex ed talk when I was a junior. We were hanging out in my garage and she asked me if I’d had the talk.
What were your major takeaways from sex ed?
The assumed in Texas is just, “Don’t do it.” There was never a spoken thing.
Did you feel like your sexual identity was being represented?
No, we didn’t have it, and I wasn’t really sure yet.
Did you feel like your sexuality influenced how you took in the information?
I wasn’t really sure yet.
Did you feel like your sex ed class influenced how you perceived your own sexuality?
I wasn’t really sure yet.
Was there anything about sex ed or your own sexuality that you had to learn outside of an actual sex ed class?
Basically everything.
How did stereotypes and preconceived ideas about sex ed play into your education?
I don’t know, it was always the stereotypical banana and condom talk or the gym coach from Mean Girls. It all just seemed like a joke.
How much do you know about contraceptives?
I know quite a bit — birth control (pill, patch, bar), condoms (male and female), and then there’s even an oral contraceptives like dental dams. They’re even working on a male pill. And, of course, the pull-out method.
How was sex perceived in your household and do you think that race/class/religion had anything to do with it?
I mean, my family is pretty chill. We didn’t talk about it, but it was never anything taboo. I think they just assumed I was never active in that way.
What would you add, if anything, to sex ed in the future so that more people would be knowledgable about sex and sexual orientations, esp. your own?
I think not being naive to the orientations that are out there. The people that aren’t het need to know how to have save sex because it’s all different. It’s not just all about het sex.
When and how did you discover you were bisexual?
It started with my freshman year of high school, it started with one of my teammates. I didn’t tell anyone, I just knew something was different around her. I held that for a year until I finally told my friend. I thought I was gay for a while until I started dating a man.
How do others react when you tell them you are bisexual?
Depends on the setting. When it comes to dating stuff, people ask if I’m up for a threesome. It always annoys me.
Do you feel your past sexual education was beneficial to exploring your sexuality?
The things I was not taught in school, no, but the things I learned outside of school was.
Is there anything you wish you had learned then that you know now?
I mean, we didn’t have any sex ed class, so being taught anything in class would have been helpful. It would have been nice to not have learned that from a peer.
If there is any advice that you would give someone who is having a hard time with their sexuality?
You’re definitely not the only one, you’re not alone. There’s people around you that probably feel the same way you do and it will bring such a huge relief. You’re not bearing that burden alone.
Cutie:
At what age did you take sex ed?
I took sex ed 3 times, the first in 5th grade, I took it again in 7th grade at a different school, then I took “health” that kind of talked about sex ed my senior year of high school
What were your major takeaways from sex ed?Did you feel like your sexual identity was being represented?
The only thing I took away from sex ed was people were nasty, no one could be trusted, use a condom at all times. My sexuality, in particular, wasn’t represented, but we did spend a lot of time talking about people who identify as gay.
How was sex perceived in your household and do you think that race/class/religion had anything to do with it?
I grew up in multiple households so the way I heard sex talked about was different depending on where I was. I don’t think class had much to do with it, but race and religion definitely did.
What would you add, if anything, to sex ed in the future so that more people would be knowledgeable about sex and sexual orientations, esp. your own?
Bisexual is an umbrella term just like being gay is. There isn’t one way to be bi. Being bi doesn’t have to mean male or female.
When and how did you discover you were Bisexual?
I discovered I was bisexual way before I was old enough to understand what gender was. I knew I liked people and that was about it. I didn’t truly accept my sexuality until I was in 6th grade. I moved to a new school and it was like all the gay girls wanted me. I think I’m a gay magnet. I also discovered what it meant to be “slutty” because let me tell you, I had a different girl tryna rub on me every class period. (lol, I’ve always been a problem and it brings me joy)
How do others react when you tell them you are bisexual?
Most people just accept it and we move on. Other people make it weird and turn it into this sexual thing when really its not. I like who I like because of the emotions, not the parts. PERIOD.
Do you feel your past sexual education was beneficial to exploring your sexuality?
It was not, my self-confidence was the only beneficial thing to exploring my sexuality. At the end of the day, my opinion is the only thing that matters to me so hey if it makes me happy, I’m gonna figure it out along the way.
Sunflower
Is there anything you wish you had learned then that you know now?
SEX DOESN’T HAVE TO BE PENETRATIVE !
How did you discover your sexuality? Did sex Ed play a role?
I discovered my sexuality before I took sex ed. And my sex Ed was just two class periods worth of info in my gen health class in 9th grade. I realized I was bisexual once I started crushing on a transgender girl I saw around school. Up until that point I thought I was bisexual. What really confirmed my sexuality was when I realized I honestly don’t care about how my love interest/partner identifies.
Advice to someone trying to figure out their sexuality?
Don’t suppress your genuine feelings for someone bc homophobic society tells you it’s wrong. If you feel it, feel that shit and accept it. Embrace it.
At what age did you take sex ed?
15. I had literally 0 take aways from sex ed. I not only feel like my sexual identity wasn’t being represented. I KNEW it wasn’t.
Did you feel like your sex ed class influenced how you perceived your own sexuality?
It made me feel like I wasn’t normal because it only covered hetero penetrative sex and oral sex. And hetero I am not.
Was there anything about sex ed or your own sexuality that you had to learn outside an actual sex ed class?
Literally everything. The only thing I learned in sex ed was that a condom could be blown up and tossed around the room like a beach ball...bc that’s what we did. Everything I know I learned on my own with research or through my PCP. Get tested btw.

▌That’s cool, I guess. Now tell me about something you don’t like.   ❛  Those who are over-the-top and refuse to do their work! Do you know how frustrating it is to work with someone like that?!  ❜
▌Do you have any hobbies/activities you like to do?     ❛  Organizing and cleaning the shop so many times, often around five times per work day. ▌Name some of your worst habits.     ❛ My sisters tend to tell me that I will take any sort of excuse to avoid going outside and interacting with others. I mean, they’re not wrong. ▌Do you look up to anyone at all?     ❛ My father who passed. ❜
▌Gay, straight, or bisexual?     ❛  Genuinely, I don’t pester into these waning thoughts of companionship. Yet, I do not show any preference for either gender. But, again, time is costly. ❜ (Author’s note: It’s simply bisexual.)
▌Do you go to school?      ❛ I was in public education system until my late teens. I gave up on schooling and went to managing my family’s hat shop because we need someone to maintain the reigns of our own business.. ❜

▌Do you have any fanboys/fangirls?       ❛ No..? What in God’s name is a fangirl or fanboy? Do they behave how Martha does when a new boy catches her attention? It sounds obsessive, the title. But, my sister usually roots the ideas of having ten children already and she’s only a teenager, goodness!  ❜
▌What are you most afraid of?       ❛ Someone taking away my sisters, harming them... ❜

Dear Mark: Is Coconut Oil Pure Poison?
It appears that we’re well into “outrageous media frenzy over terrible or misleading claims by nutrition scientists” season….
Last week I covered the “low-carb” and mortality study, and for this week’s edition of Dear Mark I’m covering the (latest) coconut oil controversy. A Harvard professor recently launched a dramatic harangue against coconut oil, calling it “pure poison.” Is it true this time? Are we indeed killing ourselves? Let’s find out:
Speaking of fat, I’d be interested in Mark’s take regarding the latest attempt to put the kibosh on consumption of coconut oil–specifically, a Harvard professor saying it’s pure poison, probably because it’s so heavily saturated.
I can’t stand the stuff, personally. I don’t like anything made with coconut, and it doesn’t like me either, possibly because I’m sensitive to the overload of lauric acid. However, this and many other websites tout coconut products as being super healthful.
So is there any truth to these new claims that coconut oil is actually bad for us? Is there any hard evidence that points to related health issues? Or is this just more of the same-old, same-old that we saw with eggs, red meat, etc.?
Here’s what Shary’s talking about.
I won’t even talk about the Tokelau, a Pacific Island people who obtained most of their calories from coconut. Or the Kitavans, who ate a relatively low-fat diet but got most of their fat from coconuts. Both showed pristine metabolic health, and in the case of the Tokelau, they actually got incredibly unhealthy after switching from their coconut-rich diet to one rich in mainland foods, including seed oils.
Nor will I talk too much about the animal studies, most of which have found favorable effects on health as a result of eating coconut oil.
Let’s just focus on the human trials—the intentional studies in which actual living humans ate coconut oil and then underwent lab tests to determine the health effects. Concrete, objective effects. If coconut oil is as toxic as this Harvard professor claims, the evidence should be overwhelmingly negative. A Harvard professor would never misrepresent the evidence, right?
First, there is 2017’s Effect of a Diet Enriched with Fresh Coconut Saturated Fats on Plasma Lipids and Erythrocyte Fatty Acid Composition in Normal Adults. Healthy adults either added coconut oil or peanut fat to their diet for 3 months, and researchers examined how the different fat sources affected their biomarkers. Coconut oil increased HDL levels and the proportion of an anti-inflammatory lipid subfraction in red blood cell membranes. All told, coconut oil had a neutral to beneficial effect on health.
2017 also had Physical Form of Dietary Fat Alters Postprandial Substrate Utilization and Glycemic Response in Healthy Chinese Men. As far as coconut oil’s toxicity goes, this one was a dud. Whether the men ate coconut oil or sunflower oil made no difference in their metabolic response to meals (though when the fats were in gel form, there was an effect).
Oh, but this one sounds negative: Coconut Oil Has Less Satiating Properties Than Medium Chain Triglyceride Oil. Finally! We’ve found a kink. Unfortunately, this one isn’t bad for coconut oil either. Although MCTs proved more satiating than coconut oil, the latter was still more satiating than the control oil—vegetable oil. This is actually a strong counter to the Harvard professor’s main contention that coconut oil is bad because it’s so high in saturated fat; MCTs are pure saturated fat and performed very well here. Also, most MCT oil products come from coconut oil.
Next is The Impact of Virgin Coconut Oil and High-Oleic Safflower Oil on Body Composition, Lipids, and Inflammatory Markers in Post-Menopausal Women.  There were no differences in body composition. Coconut oil raised total cholesterol, HDL, and LDL, but it was a wash. Both groups ended up with the same TC/HDL ratio (one of the best markers of overall heart health we have). One person had increased inflammation due to coconut oil, but most of the others had lower inflammation. Overall, though, the “impact of VCO and SO on other [inflammatory] cytokines varied on an individual basis.” The implication is that different people had different responses to the different oils. This is known, and it’s good to see researchers admit that people are different and the individual response arguably matters more than the statistical average of the responses.
In 2016, this came out: Postprandial serum endotoxin in healthy humans is modulated by dietary fat in a randomized, controlled, cross-over study. At first glance, it doesn’t look good for coconut oil. Compared to fish oil (which reduced it) and high omega-6 oil (which was neutral), coconut oil eaten with the meal increased the levels of serum endotoxin. Endotoxins are produced by bacteria in our guts and tend to increase systemic inflammation when they make it into our bodies. Coconut oil was pretty good at helping endotoxin make it past the gut and into the body. The good news is that this did not increase systemic inflammation—but keep in mind that these were “healthy humans.” An increase in serum endotoxins may have stronger effects on inflammation in unhealthy or obese humans. Another bit of good news is that pairing coconut oil with, say, fatty fish should mitigate any rise in serum endotoxins.
There’s also A Randomized Study of Coconut Oil Versus Sunflower Oil on Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Patients with Stable Coronary Heart Disease. The title tells it: patients with heart disease added either coconut oil or sunflower oil to their diets for two years. Researchers tracked basic risk factors and the number of “events,” or heart attacks. Despite people with actual heart disease eating the “worst” oil possible, “there was no statistically significant difference in the anthropometric, biochemical, vascular function, and in cardiovascular events after 2 years.” No difference.
Heck, according to 2016’s The Effect of Coconut Oil Pulling on Streptococcus Mutans Count in Saliva in Comparison to Chlorexidine Mouthwash, the coconut oil “myth” all the “experts” love to malign—that swishing coconut oil in your mouth can reduce harmful bacterial colonization—is actually true.
It’s obvious just from looking at these very recent studies, even some of the ones with negative or neutral effects, that coconut oil is far from poison. “Experts” do themselves no credit when they ignore and misrepresent the evidence like this.
Luckily, we can read for ourselves. And we can try for ourselves.
Thanks for reading, everyone. Thoughts on this coconut oil controversy—or other health related media hype? Other studies you’d like me to look at? Have a great week.
