LOVE UR PIRATES...now let's see the wizards

YESSS TY LETS GOOO (Once again I have a whole lotta wizards and I ramble a lot so I'll just pick a few!! For now.) OKAY!! Let's start with her highness, Persephone Solanaceae! Who is not, in fact, actually royal. But a Marleybonian noble known more for her infamous family name (and the horrible, terrible, fantastical rumors that surround it) rather than her actual title itself as the Heiress.

Growing up in a rather unorthodox setting (A mad scientist father will do that to you), Persephone has always been a bit off. And that is aside from the fact that she’s mean as sin and just awful to be around, as if she wouldn’t spit on you and call you peasant trash for breathing her air. (you may get the feeling you’re not actually the thing she’s so angry and disgusted with, hm!). She’s a necromancer with immense magical skill and knowledge, despite being perhaps one of the most glass glass-cannons to ever live. It surprised everyone when she volunteered to take the place of “The Savior Of The Spiral” after the original was put out of commission (Strange, some think, suspicious, others think), and she became intensely dedicated to this task. Grumpily so. Angrily so. Thinks everyone is annoying, thinks the Spiral should stop trying to die every other week. All in all though she may have an impressively vile personality she... appears to be trying to help. Or maybe she's just trying to avoid going back home to her manor in Marleybone. A prissy little rich thing with too many secrets.

And her (probably future girlfriend) Lilith Vitae! My awful not-so-little theurgist! Persephone and her are... opposites in MOST ways, so they have been petty rivals since childhood. And by petty I mean It's On Sight, they will fight! Lilith comes from a much more humble upbringing and is super, super upset about being a Theurgist, seeing it as too 'soft' for her. Healing is not what she's interested in, she likes fighting! Adrenaline!! Do you remember Morganthe's offer in Zafaris for the YW to join her? Lilith sure does. She was never the savior, even if that was the group she was stuck with for most of her teenage years, hearing THAT put ideas in her head. And she realized huh! That sounds fucking great, actually! Obviously at the time it wasn't an option but, years later? Long after said queen has been disposed of, and Lilith is now free of school and obligation? She thinks maybe SHE'LL go back to Khrysalis, maybe she'll pick up the remnants of Morganthe's army and influence, and maybe. Maybe she'll fill the empty role of queen and finally get to live up to her true potential! So she says! Lilith is highkey deranged and highkey trying to have a villain arc partially because she genuinely WANTS TO, and partially because certain people have led her to believe this is the best path. TLDR she's a punchy-boxer type fighter stuck with life magic and a lot of repression! Is also very gay for Persephone. Aaaand one more to round it out, let's go with Oceania Zenith, resident storm main. So yk it's bad. (sry storm mains.) Ocean was the INITIAL Savior of the Spiral! She had a natural connection and talent to storm magic from a very young age! and this was recognized by the Council of Light rather quickly, who came in to scoop up Ocean as fast as possible to start shaping her into the perfect savior. Well, what good that did! Since Ocean grew up to know so little of how normal kids acted that she was just painfully sheltered. She knew how to duel, how to fight, didn't know what a sleepover was or how to talk to people her own age. And she now has the ego of an Aquilan God and a hero complex to boot. So she became incredibly cocky and full of herself, because I mean, scoff, she's THE Savior. She can do no wrong, perfectly fine to idolize her though<3. She had no friends hah. Except Persephone, because apparently their mean energies were so powerful they attracted each other. (Or because Ocean felt a need to protect the weird little goth girl from the world.) But she's unstoppable really! She swears! Spoilers she is not unstoppable, and her arrogance leads her into a very awful, very super not good time! She's not the Savior anymore.

Guardian (Jumin x Zen)

Word Count: 1945 Warnings: Mild swearing, smoking, references to a car accident

Jumin knows he’s seen him.

Even upside down, with the airbag so closely pressed to his chest that he couldn’t move, his vision spinning, and the overwhelming scent of gasoline making him dizzy, he sees Zen outside the front window. And he’s glowing, so bright his eyes water. Then, as someone pulls him out of the car, he’s gone.

That’s not possible, assistant Kang insists next to the hospital bed he’s sitting in, both waiting for the doctor to come back. Zen was nowhere near C&R International, and she only just warned the RFA 5 seconds ago of the crash. He could not have possibly arrived here that fast.

Ah. The crash. The car crash. The one Jumin was in because Driver Kim had his day off, and Jumin saw no issue driving to the client himself. The one where Jumin had to swerve to dodge another car cutting off his lane, and caused his own car to topple over and crash against a tree.

She’s right, Jumin thinks, there’s no way Zen could have been at the crash. Most likely stress from the crash, a concussion, his panicked imagination going in overdrive.

Yet, not a minute later, the doctor tells him he doesn’t even have a bruise. As if he never was in a car accident. That should not be possible, the doctor says, and assistant Kang is equally confused. Jumin however, is not.

He is certain now, he’s seen Zen.

And he has a suspicion why.

Do you sometimes find yourself in places you weren’t before when you travel?

ZEN: Dude it’s 1 AM why are you messaging me

Also wtf are you going on about

Are you high???

Jumin Han: You still replied.

ZEN: Go to sleep and leave me alone, asshole

He’s always wondered what was up about Zen. He knows about albinos, they often took great care of themselves when going outside, and sometimes had other health issues. Not Zen, who is so handsome, not that Jumin would admit it out loud. Who is so fit, he jogged daily. Who has no problem taking selfies in broad daylight with no sunscreen or sunglasses in sight. It had been only after Jumin made the last comment, a year ago, that Zen suddenly mentioned jogging at night, or an extensive skincare routine.

Back then, he stopped caring very quickly. It wasn’t any of his business, of course, what the narcissistic man did.

Now he cares again. He remembers how Zen had gotten into an accident, and V told him in full detail how Zen had healed insanely fast.

A handsome albino with super fast healing skills. How very strange, he tells Elizabeth, and she meows in agreement. He pets her while leaning an elbow on his mahogany desk, laptop showing a website of occult creatures.

Maybe he is a vampire. The ones in that one teenage movie sparkle. Which is not a glow, his brain reminds him. Plus the whole sun thing would still be an issue.

He entertains the sexy albino vampire idea a bit too long, before he realizes and cuts his thoughts off on purpose.

Maybe he is too paranoid. Maybe Zen is human. Zen’s allergy for cats seems real, at least. Even though Zen is an actor, Jumin thinks, he hides his emotions poorly.

And then Zen mentions that, sometimes, he has prophetic dreams.

Strange. Very, very strange.

Too many things don't add up for Zen to be human. And Jumin wants to know who he truly is - very much so.

Jumin Han: Do you often glow?

ZEN: Of course I do, my beauty is radiant Blessed by the Gods themselves

Jumin Han: Gods. Interesting. Tell me all about them.

ZEN: What? What do you mean? You’re creeping me out Also why are you messaging me again what the hell

Jumin Han: You always reply to me.

ZEN: No I don’t, stupid jerk

Jumin Han: And yet you did it again.

ZEN: Argh! I can’t with you! Screw you!

Zen is calling him a weirdo in the chat again. Jerk. Freak. The words have never mattered to him, but now Jumin wonders if it’s a smokescreen. He’s paid very close attention to all of the chatrooms with Zen in it, to the point it felt like stalking. It’s interesting how often Zen brings him up as a topic, even when it’s completely unnecessary.

He starts to understand why Luciel thinks Zen is obsessed with him. Perhaps because there is more than Zen shows.

But Zen denies everything he asks. He denies whatever screenshots Jumin sends him. He insults and denies and rants, and Jumin doesn't get any closer to the truth. At some point, Zen mentions that his behavior is akin to his older brother, but it comes over as an excuse to make Jumin shut up.

To the outside world, it seems that Zen truly despises him. Jumin is just not convinced.

There’s only a few things Jumin knows for sure. Zen was there when he crashed. And it had to be connected to the fact that Jumin came out of the crash completely unharmed. That’s it.

It drives him mad that he is denied more knowledge.

So he makes a decision. He tells assistant Kang to watch over Elizabeth. Heads down to the garage. Opens the car door. Takes a deep breath and wonders if he’s gone insane.

He gets behind the wheel again.

707: Zen suddenly leaving? Now that’s suspicious ರ_ರ

Jaehee Kang: I hope nothing happened to him. ~~~~

Jumin never crashes. The moment he turns on the engine, Zen is there, in front of the car lights, scaring the hell out of him. In a split second, the lamps in the garage flicker, and Jumin swears he sees a faint glowing outline of feathers behind Zen. 

Zen is wearing his trademark turtleneck and holds a cigarette in his hand. He takes a drag and blows out the smoke, looking bored, as if he had been waiting.

“You're such a jerk, you know that?” Zen’s voice echoes in the large garage. They are alone. He hears nothing in the background, as if time stands still.

Jumin is too stunned to reply. Zen sighs, and walks to the side of the car, opens the door and takes his place in the passenger seat. He grabs the key from Jumin’s fingers and turns the engine off. The smell of tobacco and cologne fill Jumin’s nose, yet he doesn’t find the will to tell Zen not to smoke in his car.

“If me sitting here will stop you from killing yourself, then so be it,” Zen says, and takes another drag after closing the door.

Jumin realizes his hands still grip the wheel, and he slowly lowers them to his lap.

“What… what are you?” he asks.

“I can’t answer that. You already know way too much because I fucked up. Don't worry, nothing will happen to you,” Zen replies, and the smoke surrounding him makes him look more human.

“And to you?”

Zen looks out the open window instead. “It’s fine,” he finally replies.

That isn’t what he wants to hear. But if nothing would happen to him, then possibly Zen’s punishment wouldn’t be too severe.

Zen’s words do confirm other things - there is some higher power at work keeping Zen in check. And Zen did protect him, he’s sure of it now, from dying. So much so that Zen is in trouble for it.

“You protected me… too much. I should have had some damage,” Jumin says, inadvertently licking his lips. He’s nervous, because the bratty vain actor had been the one standing between life and death for him.

Zen runs a hand through his hair. Maybe Jumin is projecting, but he feels Zen is nervous too.

"I know that, trust fund. I just… couldn’t deal with… that." Zen waves his cigarette-free hand at the air in front of them, trying to stay as cryptic as possible.

He cares too much, Jumin instantly realizes. He watches Zen cross his legs - a defensive stance, Jumin notes - and wonders how much Zen has said in the chatroom is real.

“For someone like you, you aren’t exactly good at keeping it a secret.”

Zen chuckles. “You’d be surprised how much people accept. In fact, the stranger you seem, the less likely they suspect.”

Jumin hates to admit that it made sense. “Are you always fighting me because you have to distance yourself from me on purpose?”

“I can't answer that.”

Can't or shouldn't? Either way, Jumin is content with the answer. Yet, he can’t stop asking questions.

“Does everyone have… someone like you?”

“Not me specifically.”

Jumin makes a mental note to check all sun-loving albinos in the country. “Do you know who else is like you?”

Zen shook his head. “I know there are others. No idea who.”

“Sounds… lonely.”

“...It is.”

Jumin knows all about loneliness. He imagines Elizabeth on his lap, and sees the photo of V, Rika and him on his desk, and hears his father’s voicemail on his phone. So many days he’s convinced only Elizabeth would be there to catch him, when he comes home tired from work and falls down the abyss in his mind. Awful, lonely thoughts.

He wants to ask more. Menial questions like is Zen truly allergic, or deeper ones asking about the forces unknown. Jumin decides that he doesn’t want to push it.

“So… what now?”

“You,” Zen points at Jumin’s chest, “Will stop trying to drive, you menace. I actually like it here, so don’t make it worse.”

Jumin grins. “You like it here? Even with me?”

“Yeah, I know, must suck being guarded by someone you hate.” Zen rolls his eyes.

“I never hated you.”

Zen whips his head towards Jumin, eyes wide. 

“Never. Not even when you tried your worst. And now, knowing it is you watching over me… It is a blessing. Thank you, Zen.”

He means it. There is a happy light feeling in his chest, knowing there’s a very logical reason for Zen to act so irrationally towards him. And he knows that he’ll have to act irrational back in order to keep up the facade, so Zen can stay.

He wants Zen to stay.

Zen blushes, and tries to hide it poorly by looking out of the window again. Jumin can’t help but find it endearing. “When you say things like that, people will think you’ve gone crazy.”

Jumin smirks. He doesn’t care what people think of him. Wasn’t there still that rumor of him floating around?

Zen flicks his cigarette stub away and sighs. “Well, I need to go. Take care.”

“Should I, when I have you?” Jumin sasses. It’s too close to flirting to be misconstrued otherwise.

“Wh- N- Whatever, just don’t drive!” he yells. His cheeks are redder, and Jumin notices before the car is filled with a bright light.

Once again, Zen is gone. A very typically Zen to do. Jumin smiles, and sits in the car for a while.

He still has no good excuse when Assistant Kang finally finds him there.

WAYUGHGH ty for wanting to know abt my take on him!! i might go a bit crazy and im not gonna draft or proofread this post and it'll be very long so im putting it under a read-more in case ppl don't want my random rambles on their dash lol. plus im kinda shy abt it ngl

(DISCLAIMER: none of this is necessarily what i think is actually canon, in fact for a large portion of it im pretty certain it's not canon at all lol. these are just the personal headcanons ive formed around jevil in my head. don't interpret this as a "theory" post or me saying im correct abt this stuff or think it's canon bc i don't at all lol, this is just my personal self indulgent take on jevil and i don't expect anyone to treat it that seriously hehe)

OK SO. quite a bit of this is inspired or was fueled by convos with @/bigshotautos, so credit to them for letting me infodump on them so often and for having some really epic headcanons and ideas. anyways

my headcanon for jevil is that pre-corruption he was really just. a funny little guy. i've drawn my take on pre-corruption jevil a few times

^ this fella. as you can see he has a few differences to canon jevil, i.e. arrow shaped tail instead of the J shape, white sclera, more rounded and friendly features, no eye makeup/markings, different outfit, eyes wide open 24/7, generally keeps his mouth closed

prior to becoming a jester he was a very lonely small creature. idk if anyone knows where he came from, even himself. initially he was generally ignored and if he was noticed ppl found him unsettling, but after a while he realised he had a talent for trickery and performance, and ppl would enjoy his company and find him entertaining provided he found ways to amuse them. queen in particular took a shine to him and he quickly got a gig as the court jester. during this stage he was very obedient and eager to please. nobody had ever really given him attention before. he's very friendly and perfectly content being treated like a toy or an animal as long as ppl "like" him and pay attention to him.

jevil at this stage is very different to the jevil we know in canon. he keeps his eyes open in a sort of blank wet-eyed stare almost constantly which some ppl find unsettling, and rarely speaks outside of short responses and riddles/wordplay. he's extremely naive and loyal. the royals like him and find him entertaining, but a lot of that is just bc they find his whole existence to be an amusing oddity rather than actually appreciating the effort he puts into his act. and outside of the royals, many of the other servants and townsfolk find him seriously worrying and unsettling, with a lot of them being really suspicious of him.

him and seam become friends bc they often have to work together since seam is the court magician and he's the court jester! seam doesn't quite know what to make of jevil at that point and keeps him at arms length, but they get along well enough with him and enjoy one another's company.

eventually though his loneliness begins to slowly eat away at him though and it's at that point, when he's feeling low and having a hard time maintaining his jester role, that the "mystery contact" shows up. they meet him a few times and ask him if he wants to see the truth and truly understand the people around him, to which he responds with enthusiasm, thinking it'll make him wiser and show him how he can do a better job at pleasing others.

unlike spamton, who i headcanon the mystery contact kinda eased into things with and took a long time to show the shadow crystal to, they show it to jevil after only a few encounters with him. they use it to show him a lot of things, a lot of them horrible things he doesn't understand, and reveal the truth of his world being a game to him. they also show him how alone he truly is, and how he isn't really truly liked by anyone. it's unfortunately the truth, everything that they show him is factually true, but jevil can't really take it. his personality and ego that was already very fragile gets shattered completely. for the first time in his life he understands how little he matters and how little he understands, and how little ppl care abt him.

^ both of these doodles are referencing his exposure to the shadow crystal and the immediate aftermath, although obv the first one takes a lot of artistic liberty lol. in my headcanon it's the exposure to the things he sees in the crystal that makes his eyes turn black.

the minute jevil sees the truth of his world, he wants nothing more than to forget it, to go back to how he was. but he can't, and he can't "look away" from it, can't stop thinking abt it. he does sleep, but his dreams are plagued by it, and he has a hard time telling the difference between his own dreams and reality, between being awake and being asleep.

at this point his behaviour becomes increasingly erratic, and although some ppl do notice, most of them don't care and see it as confirmation of the biases they already had abt him. seam wants to reach out but they don't know how to. jevil doesn't ask for help directly but he tries to signal that he's in trouble but from his perspective nobody picks up on it or seems to care.

eventually this callous attitude from others, combined with the things the mystery contact has shown him, causes jevil to become bitter. he isolates himself from others, and begins to view them as ignorant and puppet-like, because he knows the truth and they don't. he continues being a jester, but his performances have an edge of malice and cruel humour that they didn't have before. he begins to cope with the knowledge that's been forced on him by viewing it as a good thing, something that makes him freer and wiser than others.

throughout this period his meetings with the mystery contact continue, and eventually they guide him into meeting spamton, with the idea that they could work together and that jevil could help keep spamton focused on what he needs to do. initially, jevil dislikes spamton, he reminds him of the kind of ppl he hates, wealthy and clueless. spamton in turn looks down on jevil at first, and sees him as a freak, which fuels jevil's dislike for spamton bc he knows full well spamton doesn't like him lol.

however, as they're forced to interact with each other, their similarities begin to surface, and soon they start to like each other and take solace in one another. during this period of their lives they're both guarded and jaded ppl, so they never fully open up to each other, but they do become friends and develop mutual romantic feelings, although neither is sure what to do abt it.

^ this is jevil's (and spamton's) appearance during this stage in his life. similar to canon, but mildly friendlier looking, with a different outfit too. his eyes become more heavily lidded and he exposes his teeth more often at this stage.

after a while, jevil begins to realise the negative impact the mystery contact is having on spamton (this idea was directly lifted from convos w bigshotautos so once again credit to them hehe) and begins to try to convince spamton to stop talking to them. it's "too late" for him, but he hopes that he might be able to help spamton and stop him from getting exposed to a shadow crystal. however, spamton views this as jevil trying to steal his thunder and get in favour with the mystery contact (at this point spamton is becoming incredibly paranoid and hungry for power himself), and they have a huge falling out over it.

jevil returns to his own dark world, angry and upset. the mystery contact abandons him completely at this point and without its guidance, combined with the loss of spamton as a close friend, jevil really goes off the deep end. he tries to convince seam of all of the things he's been shown, that their world is just a game, that everything is pointless, etc. seam is scared and confused and obviously doesn't really get what he's saying (at least at that point in their life), so jevil gets frustrated and enraged and decides to attempt to "prove" his perspective by attacking the king, one of the people who used him and mistreated him the most. seam fights him, and eventually is able to stop him after reducing his HP and then casting pacify on him as many times as they can, but they're both left permanently physically and mentally scarred by the battle.

jevil falls unconscious and seam locks him up in the dungeon. jevil takes a long time to wake up and when he does he's fully fucking bananas lol. he continues to sink deeper into his worldview, coping with everything and rationalising it through the lens of himself being the only free and enlightened one, and everyone else being kept in the dark abt what their reality is. he's not wrong abt everything being a game etc either, but the way he responds to that is to view his own existence and the lives of others as trivial. he copes by forcing his feelings for other ppl away deep down inside himself. he copes by convincing himself that he's having fun, that he's above emotions, that other ppl are just playthings and it's worthless to care abt them.

he's fully deep in this mentality by the time the crew meets him in ch 1, and that combined with being stuck in a dungeon for many years has made him seriously unbalanced. he gets to play his "game" with the main cast and enjoys himself, and then is perfectly happy with the thought of sleeping in kris's inventory forever and giving in to his own perceived insignificance.

however, reuniting with spamton changes this. spamton is still hopeful and longs for better things despite the stuff he's seen, and that combined with jevil's feelings for spamton begins to slowly break down the elaborate facade jevil has built for himself. he doesn't want to care abt spamton, or crave his companionship, but he does. even though he knows it's fruitless and he feels he'll only get hurt, with spamton's help he's able to open up more. caring for someone and wanting to protect them is something that erodes jevil's worldview pretty quickly, bc his view of things pre ch 2 kinda hinges on all other darkners being worthless and stupid and not having the same enlightenment he does. spamton challenges this bc jevil does care abt him involuntarily, and spamton knows the same things that jevil does but still chooses to care and want a better life for himself.

i think ppl often portray jevil as coping better with his corruption than spamton, and although he does seem more at ease with it on the surface, i personally see that as a facade he's been able to put up. he's had longer to form coping mechanisms than spamton has, and just bc his true emotions are buried deep within him now, it doesn't mean they're not there. not to say that spamton isn't fucked up bc he is lol. but jevil's entire outward personality is basically just a scab formed over a very deep emotional wound. it would be a slow process but he would get better with the help of ppl who genuinely care abt him now

Sokka and Ty Lee get her into more R&B and laid back music, she comes to love Syd, Jamila Woods, Japanese Breakfast, WILLOW, and Janelle Monae, because everyone with taste likes Janelle Monae

she likes drawing! Her art is bold black and white illustrative designs, it lends itself well to tattoo designs and while she doesn't herself tattoo, she’s on commission at Suki’s shop and works w/ the tattoo artists there

Mai also uses her incredible artistic talents to make the stupidest memes ever, she secretly has a popular insta page for posting them. sokka is the only one of her friends she shares this with, he thinks they're hilarious

her & Sokka are best friends, gossip buddies, and these are their love languages  

Toph is like her younger sister & like any terrifying younger sister, she'll just show up at Mai's house without warning. when the doors are locked. and windows closed. Mai has no idea how she gets in 

her and Ty Lee have 3 cats. Ty Lee named one Sparkles, Zuko named one Tangerine but mostly calls the cat ‘little bastard’, and Mai named the last one (a black cat) Midnight

oh & her an Aang? best of friends. he's over all the time to meditate & do yoga w/ Ty Lee, and Aang is such a genuinely positive person that his laugh always makes Mai smile (everyone else is extremely jealous of this effect Aang (and Ty Lee) have on her) 

she gardens!!! she grows flowers with Suki & they come up with amazing hybrid flowers. Mai names at least one flower after Ty Lee but its ambiguous enough that she can claim it's coincidence to keep up her Image™ but 'pink lady fire lily' is not fooling anyone 

she definitely learns how to make her own knives. & do you know the YouTube channel of the guy making knives out of the most unlikely ridiculous objects? that's her favorite media ever made

she starts making videos of her own knife making process. one time the guy from that ^ channel commented on her video, and that was the first time Ty Lee had ever seen Mai cry (happy tears)

Oh my what a question, I was actually talking about this not too long ago with a friend! And the conclusion ended up being that if her invisibility is a permanent mutation he can’t, but if she can turn it off at will then probably he can too! Right now we still don’t know how exactly Tooru’s quirk tho, so we can’t be sure which is the truth! (I like to think she can turn visible if she wants, but that’s just an headcanon with very little basis haha)

Yeah yeah yeah yeah!!!!! Actually I’ve been thinking about this A LOT in the past couple of days and my conclusion ended up being that the key would be either for Kirishima to know Bakugou since they were really young OR for him to not attend Bakugou’s same middle school? Like, if they developed their personalities together, having someone like Kirishima around since they were kids could have made Bakugou develop differently, but if we go with the “they met in middle school” scenario then I think Kirishima would have had the same sort of...soothing? Effect on Bakugou only if Bakugou didn’t see him as a threat to his dream of being the only kid from that middle school to enter UA. Well, a scenario in which they had known each other since they were small young babies and Bakugou reached middle school going “the only one from this middle school to enter UA is gonna be me and Eijirou”, that would have been hella cute wouldn’t it hahaha growing up with a notion of us instead of just me would have changed Bakugou a lot, I’m pretty sure :D

Red is honestly one of my favorites too. It was so easy to write (compared to apt) hahaha and although Sehun wasn’t a good character in it, I enjoyed the progression of how real the characters were? Like---this happens in real life and not all things end happily with rainbows and butterflies. It is a struggle to see a person go through something like this but it’s also a testament to their character and their willpower to walk away from it and say when they’ve had enough.
