Season 2 of The Baby-Sitters Club @babysittersclub is now streaming on #Netflix !!! Check out Episode 4 where I play Janice Ramsey, Jessi Ramsey’s mama ❤️ alongside the sweet @doronbell as my husband, and the beautiful @anaislee_ as my daughter, Jessi Ramsey. This was such a memorable experience for me. In the middle of thinking the pandemic had shut our lives down, I booked this job. The girl who was struggling to book acting jobs was suddenly booking acting jobs and during a pandemic. I mean, almost exactly a year before I had just had my son and had sat alone in the hospital and strongly considered quitting. With everything that was going on in our country (then and now), with the rise of Black Lives Matter and the anger that I was (am) feeling. I also started to see more clearly than ever that the odds were clearly against me, a Black actress. I was no longer that naive 20 year old who studied so hard in hopes that I could one day play roles like Julia Roberts or Tea Leoni or Jennifer Aniston. So, I was shocked to the core when I found out I needed to go to Vancouver, Canada to shoot this role, that someone had actually cast me in a role where I get to play a loving, soulful, intelligent, strong TV mom, like the ones I always admired as a kid. And then I panicked because I was still nursing my 12 month old and there was a chance I would have to leave him in Los Angeles because his passport hadn’t come yet.
