NO PRONOUNS FAQ

How do I even do that?

There are multiple methods for referring to those who use no pronouns, shown below. (Examples here taken from this page, a very good resource.)

Use names or initials instead of pronouns

I talked to him yesterday → I talked to Sky yesterday.

She is really beautiful → Soph is really beautiful.

Her graduation starts soon → J's graduation starts soon.

Passive voice

He answered the phone → The phone was answered.

Wen takes good care of her cat → Wen's cat is well cared for.

Rephrasing the sentence (circumlocution)

Lior did it all by himself → Lior did it all without any help.

Gael talks in his sleep → Gael talks while sleeping.

Replacing a pronoun with a descriptive noun or phrase

She landed the plane safely → The pilot landed the plane safely.

This is Lea, she is into painting → This is Lea. My friend is into painting.

She argues that… → The person who started this discussion argues that…

Dropping pronouns

Did you buy Tex her gift? → Did you buy Tex a gift?

Yes, I bought it for her. I will give it to her tomorrow. → Yes, I bought it. I will give it tomorrow.

Why not just use they/them?

For many people who use no pronouns, the issue with they/them pronouns is the implication of a neutral gender rather than no gender. Nonbinary people have often been lumped into a “third gender” category, and for agender/genderless people, this feels just as restrictive as having to “settle for” a binary gender. They/them pronouns can feel like being forced into another category, especially as the popular perception of people outside the binary has become a monolith, and can be very dysphoria-inducing.

Who can use no pronouns?

Anyone! Most commonly, this specific way of expressing oneself is used by agender/genderless people, but anyone can use no pronouns if that’s what that person wants.

Can I include you in group pronouns? (Example: They all went to the beach.)

It’s up to the person whether or not that’s alright, but I’d wager most of us would say that yes, that’s fine! It can’t hurt to ask.

Are second person pronouns alright to use?

Same as above. Most would find it perfectly fine, but if there’s ever doubt, please ask!

Isn’t that transphobic?

When asked for sincerely, this is not transphobic. Some transphobic people might say they “don’t have pronouns” in order to make fun of trans people. There is a big difference between someone genuinely stating their preferred pronouns (or lack thereof) and being transphobic.

Are you trolling?/Is this satire?

No, this is not a joke or an attempt at making anyone look bad. If you asked if this is satire, I also urge you to take a look at what satire actually is and it’s history as a form of comedy. Trolling and bait are not satire.

Aren’t you harming the community with this?/This will make transphobes think we're stupid!

I am, by definition, a trans person just trying to be comfortable. I am part of the community. While people inside the community can definitely harm it, expressing myself in a way that makes me most comfortable is not harmful towards anyone. If transphobes think I'm stupid, I can't stop them. They'll think I'm stupid no matter what.

How do I try these out for myself? I think this might be for me!

Trolls - An Accidental Knight and the Brotherhood of Idiots (Field of Forgetmenots AU Part 3)

Okay, ya'll here's movie three!

Construction for Trollstopia, has begun and as such a reform of the Forest Guard. For a month all the new innovations move slowly, but productively. Perfect time for a break, and that comes in the form of Bridget and Gristle's wedding. A week before the event Poppy, Branch and Keith move into the troll tree temporally...Branch's old pod is the only one available. The old royal one having been destroyed by the bergens years ago, an Keith has no idea where his dad used to live as a kid. It brings back a bunch of memories, for Branch. Keith wastes no time digging through the very dusty closet in what was once Branch's old room. He finds Kroco, and claims him, Branch doesn't mind. He's too old for a stuffy, and originally it was a hand-me-down, technically it was Keith's by brotherly right. Poppy thinks it's the cutest thing ever.

The Wedding is being preped for, Poppy taking her role of Maid of Honor very seriously, she helps with decorations, Bridget's dress (with the twins help of course), as well as her outfit and Keith's (he was made ring bearer, Bridget and Gristle got close to him When they and poppy were making the pop troll/Bergen peace treaty, as Poppy was taking care of Keith during Branch's hospital stay post first movie). Branch is in charge of security regarding wild life, so with them came a small crew of guards, and he would be wearing his usual uniform. Ironically, once a few decades ago, Trolls would be served as dinner during a royal wedding, now though they protect the meal from sneaks and bugs. He's also in charge of a handful of Bergen guards to ensure the safety of all troll guests

It's the morning before the ceremony, Poppy left the pod early early to double check everything. Branch was dressing Keith and getting himself ready when the trolling, stumbles upon the old Brozone records. Branch plays one, Keith isn't impressed, he just hugs Branch and says, "You're better than them." Que wedding medley.

The wedding starts. Keith is standing on the ring pillow. He's standing in the middle of the rings, their big enough that he can fit in them like a kid in a tire swing. So, he just stands in the center of them to keep them from rolling away. From where Poppy and Branch are standing it looked like the rings grew a little sprout of blue hair. They try very hard not to laugh at it.

"Stop the wedding!"

With the shout of the intruder, Branch is looking to his soldiers. They look sheepish at accidently letting a stranger in. Branch pulls his mask down, hiding his face. Gristle nods to him to confront the stranger. Branch know who he is, but desperately hopes that John doesn't know who Branch is.

John is on edge in the middle of a bergen filled square, but schools his face into a relaxed one when he sees how at ease the other trolls present are. As he walks down the isle (yes, he's a drama queen), he's scanning the crowd looking for his little brother. Then a troll with dark blue hair and dressed in a bright green suit of armor approaches him. John can tell he's tense, so immediately raises his hands in a surrendering manner.

J: "Hey man"

B: Who are you? And can I ask you why you decided to interrupt a wedding? A royal wedding? A royal bergen wedding? As a troll? You're jeopardizing more then just your own safety here! Peace has just been achieved after decades of murder and cold conflict."

J: Whoa whoa, chill man. I'm not here to cause trouble.

B: then Identify yourself!

J: OKay! I'm John Dory, and Like I said I'm not here to cause trouble. I'm looking for my brothers. I need-

B: You can stop looking here then.

J: what?

B: I know all about you and your brothers John Dory, and you won't find any of them here. So, best be on you're way before you make an even bigger scene then you already have.

J: And how would you know that they aren't here? Who are you?

B: Forest Guardian. I protect every troll in this tribe, especially when they have no one to protect them. There's nothing for you here, John Dory.

John turns to leave. Dejected and scared, was his bitty B really dead all these years, how are they going to save Floyd without him? Then he sees a pink troll walking up to Forest Guardian, with a blue haired trolling in her arms. He figured it must be the knight's partner and child...until

"Branch is everything alright?"

John freezes everything at that line. He remembers the knight's blue hair, and the trolling's blue hair, connecting the dots. He screams branch's old nicked name as he wraps the younger adult in a unexpected hug. Branch struggles against the hold, and as John attempts to pick up his younger brother. Poppy and Keith jump right in to the fray, Poppy demanding that John release Branch and Keith biting the older brother on the leg. John shrieks and lets go. Branch wanders away, putting space between him and John while picking up a growling Keith. The trolling knows who the elder troll is.

Poppy recognizes John, and calls him old. The brother revelation is revealed, and surprising to Poppy Keith says he already knows about Brozone. It's a little upsetting at first, but she gets it, she and branch had only been together for a month, while Keith had been living with Branch for a while now. Of course the kid would know. John then tries to get close to whom he thinks is his Nephew, but Keith corrects John proudly calling himself Branch's brother, enjoying the color drain from the elder's face as he announces it. John goes into denial at that news because Mom and Dad were out the picture before Branch hatched and to that he's called an idiot for not considering Keith's adopted. John wants to say more, but he brushes it aside to explain why he's here. Poppy volunteers them for rescuing Floyd.

Keith ends up liking Rhonda, which makes John happy, even if he's a little conflicted about the kid. After all it did kind of feel like Branch had replaced all of them with this weird cross-eyed kid. Maybe even a little jealous, after all Keith is allow to hug and banter with Branch. While his bitty remains hostile to him. Poppy still gushes over Branch's baby photos, and John tries to show Keith but the kid is not interested, wanting to help Branch make a clue board.

Branch through out all this still wears his mask down, along with the armor and handmade weapons.

When they arrive on Vacay Island, Branch is more pissed at John for driving through the ocean, since Keith nearly drown. Both younger brothers do like John's machete though. John's worried at Keith's interest in a weapon but rights it off, and is a little more convinced that the kid won't bite him again.

During the forest trek, Poppy and Branch talk a little deeper about Branch's un ease about this whole situation. He asks her if she could leave Keith or Cooper (Making them adopted siblings in this au) for twenty years. Poppy immediately says she couldn't/wouldn't. Branch asks, if she did, would she'd think things would be exactly the same when she came back? She says no, understanding the situation a little better, then vowing to herself to protect Branch. Keith crawls into Branch's hair.

Bruce initially only recognizes John, however after seeing's branch's blue hair and the little nervous hand clenching that he's done since he was a baby, Bruce runs up to hug his baby brother...only to get shoved away and bitten on the arm by a trolling who launched himself out of Branch's hair. "You don't have the right to hug him," Keith growls. Bruce takes it in stride, especially seeing how attentive Branch was to the enraged trolling. He also mistakes Keith for Branch's son. Bruce introduces them to his family, well Brandi and a hand full of his spawn. There practice song goes oaky, Branch is a little stiff in his uniform, but he makes it work, Keith joins in on the dancing, but doesn't sing.

On the ride to find Clay, Bruce asks about the suit and Branch explains his role as Captain of the royal guard and he was on duty when John grabbed him. Keith claims one day held be in Branch's position, branch says only if he works for it. They are both offended when they don't get credit for the clueboard. After getting Rhonda to track Clay, John pulls an annoyed Keith to the dash board and points out the hustle button, he tells keith to press it. And Keith does not like the results.

Branch puts Keith in his hair, and pulls out his bow when they arrive at the putt putt course. Clay doesn't recognize Branch at first, only after Bruce points out him does Clay gets excited he tries to run up to his baby brother only for John to stop him, and point out the growling trolling sticking out of Branch's hair. Bruce shows Clay the bite mark. Clay is very confused about Keith, like when did this happen? However, their next step is escape so he doesn't have long to dwell on it.

During the dress rehearsal, Branch refuses to change his clothes, and Keith growls at John when he tries to push or asks if Keith could fill the role. When the fight breaks out, Branch pulls Keith behind him, and motions to Poppy to stop the van. Branch tries to step in to deescalate only to get worked up. He let's loose telling them that he can't believe he actually came on this mission if they were just going to abandon him again, and that he can't imagine leaving Keith behind like that and what did he do so wrong that made them hate him. Someone (probably either Clay or John) says that Keith isn't even Branch's real brother. Keith whimpers at that, and Branch looses it, "He's more my brother then any of you are!" The fight only escaltes from there, and Branch takes off his mask revealing his scar to his brothers, telling them everything that he had to got through alone, Grandma, Greyness, The chef, the Rockapocalyse with Keith being the only one who didn't leave.

Branch, Keith and Poppy leave. She's lost all respect for Brozone. She loves Keith almost as much as branch at this point and no one insults him in front of her. Still their not going to leave Floyd to die. Sneaking in is easy, and the find Floyd easily. The pink haired troll is too tired to really pay attention to the strangers only looking at the grown up version of his baby brother. Sadly they can't free floyd, and they see the other idiots got themselves captured.

Car chase ensues-and apparently Keith memorized the controls on Rhonda from watching John, so he can hold it steady while they try to use the gummy hand to free the others. Viva Bridget and Gristle show up like in canon. In the fight on the boat, Branch and Poppy use their bows to shoot at Veneer first, giving Viva the opportunity to free John and Bruce, Keith stay nestled in Branch's hair during this. They try the same tactic with Velvet plus John and Bruce attacking her feet, but they only succeed in freeing Clay.

Keith's the one who tells Branch to sing. And turning to his (former) Brothers, he tells them that if they don't want Floyd to die they have to try this, and that they can go back to despising each other after ward.

The harmony succeeds and even Keith Joins in, singing while in Branch's hair. Floyd is freed, but he's horribly weak and the twins are arrested. They decide to got straight back to Pop village after ward, because it's the only place that has a doctor for floyd and a not pinkeye infested house. Branch ends up driving most of the way home, everyone takes a nap that first day. John, Bruce and Clay's first order of business is to apologize and make up with Branch and Keith. Both of them have been really cold since they left mount ragous. Branch eventually gives in and give them one more chance, but they have to understand he and keith are a package deal and he has no problem cutting them all off if it means protecting the trolling. After that is settled, focus is back on Floyd who hasn't regained full consciousness since they left.

Floyd is in for a long hospital stay when they arrive at the village. He's dehydrated, malnourished, and they aren't really sure what the remaining crystallization is doing, but his limbs remained cold and discolored, even when feverish. One brother always stays by Floyd's side during the hospital stay. They all move in to the bunker when this happens, further working through their problems and bonding again. The older three even start to get to know Keith, the kid is staying and if they want Branch as a brother they had to accept the trolling as one as well. Bruce lets keith help him in the kitchen, John bonds with the trolling over survivalist tips, and while Clay has trouble at first, they click very well over story books, and Clay loves Keith more morbid style of writing. Though they all have to deal with Keith watching them sleep at one point...

Changes are also prepared for during this time. Poppy talks with Viva and Clay about moving the Puttputts and reuniting the families who were separated during the escape. Branch says he'll get a team together to escort them through the forest, ensuring thier safety. VIva agrees and also asks if Branch had any openings in the military, she knows a lot of the puttputts would be interest in Joining the guard. Poppy also askes clay to help organize the finances for Trollstopia, he happily agrees.

Floyd comes home after a few weeks. Bruce sadly isn't there he had to go home but this point, but he promises to visit after the month was over. And it's a major adjustment for everyone. Floyd can't walk and no one really knows the long-term effects that the bottle had on him. He's scared, frustrated, and in pain. He tries to down play it, hopefully not making anyone worry. Then the crystalization on his limbs hardens and it hurts. His body is both freezing and burning, he can't breath, or think. It's his first flare up, of many. The doctors recommend, keeping him warm, and physical therapy to regain motion, but even they are out of ideas as to what was happening. This mentally wreaks Floyd, he thinks he's never going to get better. During the middle of a night where Floyd can't sleep due to nausea, Branch opens up about his recovery after the Chef blinded him, trying to comfort Floyd with it. It just makes Floyd break down, and beg Branch for forgiveness after everything. Crying makes Floyd throw up, and that makes him cry more, branch pulls him into a hug to break this vicious cycle. Floyd just keeps apologizing, Branch finally just gives in as his brother seems determined to have this convo right now. He asks why Floyd never came back,Floyd explains that he tried but the tree was empty, he thought Branch was dead. Keith has been silently watching from the door way, at that the trolling wanders in and joins the hug. All three of them share Floyd's bed that night.

Keith starts to do the same thing he did when ever Branch had a depressive day, for Floyd. Distracting him with his stories, underneath the guise of asking Floyd to help him edit. Clay joins on this too, when he isn't busy with other work for the move of the Puttputts. Floyd doesn't realise this, and is just happy that Branch's adoptive brother doesn't hate him anymore, and grows increasingly attached.

At the end of the au, Clay and Floyd have moved into the bunker permanently with Keith and Branch. Floyd becasue he can't live alone with his condition. And Clay because he has no where else to go. Bruce visits, and John wanders, but stays close. Viva and a bunch of the Puttputts join the guard and Clay now works as official CPA for trollstopia.

Jason is gonna become the best uncle even if no one in the family expected it ( they really should bc Jay is canonically good with kids). Every time John Grayson (Dickbabs kid) is visiting the Wayne Manor, Jason also "happens" to visit the Manor and he's ready to spend time with his nephew reading him books or playing video games. Also he gets competitive and doesn't let the other uncles to get near to the kid. Their close bond has even gotten them a nickname in the family " Big J and little J".

Also, bc Jason is still a huge troll he teaches John to call his father, Dick, an asshat. " It doesn't matter that you don't know what it means, trust me your father will love it" XD

A - Activities(What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?)

Velvet loves going shopping with you and being at her concerts with you. She spends a lot of her time with you, as you’re pretty much the only person she doesn’t find unbearable.

B - Beauty(What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?)

She loves your arms. She likes to hold onto one of them when you’re out. And of course, you hug her with them. If you have big, muscular arms, she loves them ten times more.

C - Comfort(How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?)

I’m gonna be honest, Velvet is not good at comforting people. So when you’re down, she has no idea what to do. So she just keeps you company, not saying a word. She might initiate cuddles if she’s feeling bold enough.

D - Dreams(How do they picture their future with their s/o?)

The only future she thinks about is her being the biggest pop star. But of course, it wouldn’t be as fun without you, so you’re definitely in that dream.

E - Equal(Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?)

She’s definitely the dominant one. If not naturally, she makes it happen. She likes bossing people around and being in charge. So it doesn’t matter if you’re passive or not, she wears the pants in the relationship.

F - Fight(Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?)

Hoo boy. Y’all’s fights can get pretty heated. Velvet is very bratty and can be very mean, so that results in some quarrels.

Once the fight is over, she will not be the one to apologize. It doesn’t matter if she’s over it or not, she doesn’t want to give in.

G - Gratitude(How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?)

Velvet doesn’t think about the things you do for her very often, so I wouldn’t say she acts grateful most of the time.

On occasion, she does realize your love and care. She realizes that she is lucky to have you. Though, she keeps those thought to herself.

H - Honesty(Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?)

Besides the whole troll thing, she doesn’t really have any secrets. So that’s the only thing she’s hiding from you. And that won’t be something you’ll know unless Velvet really trusts you, or you find out on your own.

But other than that, she’s not really that secretive.

I - Inspiration(Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?)

(This is if you’re dating her after she went to prison)

After meeting you, she’ll slowly but surely learn to work for the things she wants. Seeing you have natural talent in your hobbies inspires her to want the same thing. It takes a long time, but she’ll get better.

If you can convince her to start taking voice lessons and to practice, she’ll realize that it’s more rewarding when her skill is the result of hard work.

(This is just a possibility. This girl may actually be unredeemable)

J - Jealousy(Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?)

Velvet gets jealous very easily. She even hates it when you talk to her brother for too long. She gets very grumpy, and tries to turn your attention to her instead.

K - Kiss(Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?)

She’s a good kisser. Her kisses are very passionate.

Your first kiss happened when you brought her home from a date. She felt bold, and gave you a kiss goodbye. Then she went inside, shutting the door and left you alone with your shock.

L - Love Confession(How would they confess to their s/o?)

I don’t think she would confess first, but for this, let’s say she did.

I think she’d ask you out pretty casually, trying to seem calm and cool. When in reality, she’s nervous and flustered.

M - Marriage(Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?)

Velvet doesn’t really think about marriage. She’d be happy to marry you, but it isn’t her main dream. If she proposes to you first, she’d make it a big thing. She’d maybe do it at one of her concerts(if she shows you’d be okay with it). The ring would be very pretty and flashy.

N - Nicknames(What do they call their s/o?)

She mostly just calls you by your name, babe, or if she’s feeling flirty, she’ll call you cutie.

O - On Cloud Nine(What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?)

She talks about you a lot. Even if the conversation has nothing to do with you, she somehow always shifts the subject. Because of this, it’s pretty obvious to others that she really loves you.

P - PDA(Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?)

Velvet’s pretty into PDA. She likes holding onto your arm when you’re out walking in public. She also gives you lots of cheek kisses, leaving lipstick marks. She’s not shy when others are watching. In fact, she likes the idea of everyone knowing that you’re taken.

And continuing from the last headcanon, she brags about you a lot. She’s always talking about how fun and cool you are.

Q - Quirk(Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship)

You’ll never have to worry about money when you’re dating Velvet. She has a lot of money, and she likes showing it off by buying pretty much everything for you. If you’re worried about your college tuition, she’s got you.

R - Romance(How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?)

Velvet’s not super romantic. She has her sweet moments, but she thinks doing the cliché romantic things is too cheesy. So when she does decide to be romantic, she gets creative with it.

S - Support(Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?)

Of course she supports you. She achieved her dream(even if her methods were kinda… evil), so why shouldn’t you? She offers ways to help you that don’t include you to put in any effort. But if you want to do it the long way, she’s fine with it.

If anyone tries to convince you to give up or that you can’t do it, she makes sure that you don’t believe them. She doesn’t want anyone telling you what you can and can’t do.

T - Thrill(Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?)

Velvet’s kind of in between. She likes a routine, but the occasional new thing is also good.

U - Understanding(How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?)

She knows everything about you. All your interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes. However, she’s not a very empathetic person. She doesn’t like discussing emotions, but when it comes to you, she’ll listen. She probably won’t share your same feelings, but she’ll hear you out.

V - Value(How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?)

While she hates having to acknowledge the fact, you are her everything. She thought she had everything she could ever want in life, but once you came into it, she can’t imagine life without you. She lives for matching with you. Matching outfits, profile pictures, nails, anything. She sometimes picked out your outfits ahead of time so it can match hers.

In public she only does simple things like holding your hand, or kissing your cheek. Mostly just for the sake of showing your relationship off. But Velvet is much more affectionate when it’s just the two of you. She’ll cuddle you to death and gives way more kisses.

Y - Yearning(How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?)

When Velvet misses you, everyone knows it. She’s very grouchy, often snapping at Veneer and Crimp. She’s also very bored.

Z - Zeal(Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?)

She probably won’t do anything that requires a lot of work. But if it’s a problem that can be resolved with money or some talking, she’ll do it.

So maybe not great lengths, but just lengths.

heck it have a TON of my own changling hilda hc's

Hilda found out she could still change into a troll during a heated game of dragon panic, and its safe to say everyone panicked a little when she suddenly became stone

The transformation is (at first) emotion based. Whenever Hilda feels extreme emotion, she goes troll mode! If the feelings are sudden then she just poofs into her troll form but if her feelings build up then some signs of her changing can be seen:

Bits of her skin turning into stone and her hair getting a bit more grey.

Her teeth getting more sharp and jagged.

Her eyes glowing like a trolls eyes.

Slightly longer nose.

At first she was scared of scaring her friends and others off by suddenly becoming a troll, but over time as troll acceptance grew she felt more comfortable saying that she was half troll.

Over time she learnt how to willing become her troll self, and whenever she willingly becomes a troll her body ignites in troll flames before they dissipate and reveal her troll self, and when she goes back to being a human its in a puff of smoke.

Also when she does willingly become a troll her outfit doesn't magically vanish, instead its represented by flora! Her clothes are colorful lichen, her scarf is a yellow vine around her neck, and her hat is a black flower!

Like trolls, instead of getting cuts and burses when injured Hilda gets cracks and fractures. These translate to scrapes when she reverts back to human. But the most horrifying aspect is that Hilda's troll from can break if put under too much pressure or force. (One time during a nightly picnic with her family and friends she fell off a cliff and landed on her arm, which broke off. Everyone else had to quickly rush to the trolls and ask if there was anyway to fix this, and luckily there was. [idk what it be, maybe some rare flower?])

There were a few times she turned in public:

When she got her first sparrow scout badge, she jumped for joy when she claimed it, turned into a troll, and thanks to the spotlights turned into a rock and broke the floor.

The first time Frida kissed her...with all of their parents in the next room.

There's more times but I can't think of any rn

Johanna has had to explain that her daughter can just go troll mode sometimes to many people, so most of Hilda's friends and some other people know about this.

Another weird changling think is that sometimes she just gets "Troll Flashes" and just turns into a troll for no reason at all. So she packs a sunhat and gloves just in case she feels like she's going to turn into a troll, to keep outta the light.

Hilda can fight the "turning into stone" bit depending on 1: The lights strength (its easy to fight simple light blub light, but a spotlight is a tough battle) and 2: amount of coverage on her body (the more skin showing, the more she'll have to fight)

She doesn't like the sounds of bells now, its tolerable as a human but gives her headaches as a Troll. One time during a celebration involving a big bell she got knocked out when it started ringing. David gifted her some pocket muffling headphones to lessen bell pain.

Whenever she is turned to stone its like a form of sleep, so from her pov she's turning into stone, then she's breaking out even though its been few minutes or hours later from when she became stone.

A troll taught her troll curse words, now she is unstoppable!!! /j (this one is more silly :P)

I love these!! I adore seeing how different people go about with their own versions of Changeling Hilda :D I think it's cool that you have Hilda's troll-ness not being a secret, like how I (and I think other people?) have done. Kid's even weirder now lmao

But anyway, I wanna ask, how does the Bergens handle Branch being their "Prince"? Like, obviously, they would be kinda pissed at first, I'd wager, since the person who'll be leading their kingdom is someone they eat each year for a holiday that's been discontinued.

Do they actually respect him at all? I mean, even if they didn't, I doubt they'll do anything in order to not piss off their king who's taken a liking to this gray little goober. Maybe there are a few Bergens who's chill with him (like a certain scullery maid maybe winky face?), but I doubt the majority would accept him at first.

Can't wait to see what else you have in store for this AU! :)

Oh, for sure, the announcement caused a stir at first! Branch didn't even get to make a public appearance right away—the initial announcement was done through paper notices and a town crier only.

But... well, there's a reason that the laws concerning the adoption of other species exists. While they are generally grumpy and view Trolls largely as food, it wasn't as hard for Bergentown to accept Branch as you'd think. Add in the fact that Branch is not only legally considered a Bergen, but also a LOT like a Bergen, and by the time the first movie rolls around he's generally pretty well-liked as a Prince. Oh, there are definitely detractors, but Bergen politics aren't so fractured, and the royal house has a lot of sway.

In the castle itself? Gristle and Branch are practically adored by Bergen standards! Hard for the staff to not care about the Prince who they saw grow up into a King and the Prince who's a) very cute and b) takes being Prince very seriously.

In fact, one of Branch's biggest annoyances is not being taken seriously on account of his size. He works as hard as he does largely because, for all that he knows that his big-little brother trusts and believes in him, he still feels insecure about whether he'll ever be taken seriously as a Prince rather than a pet or oddity.

Brahms *smiles**completely oblivious* : "That's nice. I have never heard this song before.."

Wall boy here.

He didn't have access to internet for years and was spared the rick rolling era.

He would like the song and chill with it.

Brahms *hums it a few minutes later*

"No...Really, Y/N ?"

Norman would laugh, even though he was rick rolled before. Plenty of times.

But, it wouldn't bother him.

He would go along with it and start dancing with the nurses.

"YES ! WONDERFUL !"

J used to torture people with that song. Locking them in a room with a 10-hour playlist..

Of course he would love it.

It would bring back good memories.

No...Nonononononono.

Would leave the room and never come back.

Would ask Dennis to break the computer.

The Horde had their fair share of Never Gonna Give You Up, especially since Barry used to rick roll them. A lot.

Patricia : MAKE IT STOP !

Dennis *pushing every possible button on the computer* : I'M TRYING !

Jade : LET ME HAVE THE LIGHT ! I'LL BURN IT WITH FIRE !

Five *smiles at first before getting his axe and smashing the computer into pieces* : "If I hear this song again, I'm gonna KILL every single person in this hospital.."

Five is Klaus' brother..That's it. That's the explanation.

Klaus *waiting outside with a big soundbox, ready to blast the song*

He had to hear that song so many times..It may be the only song Penny doesn't like.

Which led to a lot of trolling from the older clown who may or may not have helped you set out the prank.

Pennywise *snickers when the song plays* : "Aww...Aren't you going to dance ?"

Penny *glares at him* : "On your corpse.."

Michael wouldn't understand and ask you if something is wrong with the computer ?

Once he would understand its a prank, he would only smile and shrug.

Michael *gives you a thumb up and waits patiently until the song is over*

That's not the video he wanted to see..

Did..Did the computer get possessed ?

He would panic and start trying to close it or ask for anyone to help him.

Jason would find it strange, but would calm down once you would explain it was only a prank.

He is not very fond of pranks, but he'd tolerate it if it's you.

"Ah. Used to prank a lot of people with that song back in the day. Nice try. But, I'm rick rolled immune." *starts dancing and leaves the room with a smile on his face*

Jack Torrance used to be the class clown in his younger years. He knows all about rick rolling and would be proud to see the trend coming back more than anything.

Author’s Note: My first self shipping fic! I’ve never written anything like this before so I hope I did a good job. This subject is something I’ve struggled with for years and I’ve never seen it written about with J before so I thought I’d give it a go for all those struggling with the same thing. You are loved and you are beautiful. Enjoy! <3

As you got out of the shower, you inevitably saw yourself in the mirror and sighed. You hated your wide protruding body. The words fat and ugly echoed through your head. You hated yourself for allowing yourself to get so big. At least, in your mind, you were big. None of your friends saw you that way. You always thought they were lying.

You tried everything to change your eating habits and exercise but nothing worked. Eventually you just gave up. It was an endless cycle of self hate and disappointment.

You never talked to J about this. He knew you were self conscious about your body but he didn’t know its extent. He would flip out if he ever knew. You didn’t want him to worry so you kept it a secret.

You weren’t expecting J to come home for another few days so you felt in the clear to sit on the bathroom floor, wrapped in a towel, and cry. You had been doing this for years. Anytime you caught sight of yourself and the negative thoughts became too overwhelming, you fell apart and sobbed for what seemed like hours.

You were so deep into your thoughts that you didn’t hear the sound of your apartment window open and close.

J walked into the bedroom and took off his purple coat and his shoes. His plans had gone extremely well so he was able to come home early. He’d been craving some alone time with his bunny.

“Y/n? Ya here?”

J saw the bathroom light stream into the dark bedroom from under the door. He guessed you must’ve been in there. He was about to turn the doorknob but stopped when he heard crying. He hated to hear his bunny cry but he didn’t want to rush in because that might make it worse.

He waited a few moments and then turned the doorknob, opening the door slowly.

“Y/n, I’m home.” He said softly.

You jumped a mile.

“J! I wasn’t expecting you back so early.” You said cheerfully as you quickly wiped your eyes and threw on a shirt.

“Don’t try and play it off, doll. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, J. I’m fine.”

“I know when you’re lying. Why won’t ya tell me? I’m not gonna get upset.”

You buried your face in your arms. You wanted to tell him but you didn’t want to burden him.

J sat down beside you and waited patiently for you to answer.

You broke down.

“I just…I hate how fat I am!” You shouted.

J looked shocked.

“You’re not fat, y/n. You’re perfect.”

“Oh come on, J. You don’t have to lie to me. I can take it. I’ve been fat my whole life.”

“But you’re not. You’re stunning.”

You sniffled. “No. I’m fat and ugly. I’m overweight and unhealthy. I’m a troll.”

“No. You listen here, y/n, you’re not a troll. You are beautiful. How can you not see what I see?”

“I’ve had people tell me otherwise since I was a kid. It’s not like you would understand. I mean look at you. You’re gorgeous.”

J shook his head.

“Look at my face, bunny. People don’t like my looks either. That’s cause most people are quick to judge. Don’t listen to them. They’re stupid. Society has unrealistic beauty standards anyway. You are beautiful just the way you are. If you’re that concerned about your health, then I’ll help. We can diet and workout together. All ya had to do was ask.”

You were speechless. Nobody had ever been this understanding about your weight. Nobody had ever offered to help you either. Your sniffles quickly turned into happy tears.

“Aw, bunny. Don’t cry. C’mere.”

J wrapped his arms around you and you clung to his chest. He kissed the top of your head and you smiled brightly. You had missed his kisses. J scooped you up and carried you over to the bed. You nestled into the blankets. J soon followed you into bed and rested his head on your shoulder.

“You’re gorgeous. Don’t forget that.” He whispered softly.

This year, I'm not doing Dr*cula D*ily

Or any other substack but DD is the biggest. I have numerous reasons for this decision that none of y'all are gonna particularly care for, but ya know, just so we got our expectations in order: I'm not gonna participate in DD this year (maybe never again), I'm probably not gonna reblog many posts related to it (doing so would be counterintuitive), but I am holding myself to finishing Orice (at LEAST the base fic).

Now, why?

TL;DR: Mental health crisis brought on by internet harassment and overprioritizing social media. It's not fun anymore, folks.

DD just... it completely ruined the novel for me.

It was a nice phenomenon, but it took a wrecking ball to my mental health and self-worth. Now, I'm not saying DD's creator personally did something to spite me (or maybe I am, he knows what he did /j), but this whole thing? It wasn't good for me. It was never good. It was sometimes fun, but most of the time it made me want to end it because of thumblr notes.

That's fucking stupid. My life is not worth internet validation. My art is not worthless just because my numbers are not as big as the biggest big shots in the fandom. I'm not a horrible person when other people handle personal disagreements regarding headcanon with defaming rumours and impersonation. But hell! My view of reality was horribly skewed.

A while back, I unfollowed all the gothlit tags I previously followed because 1) Some people (active and popular members of the fandom, mind you, not bots or trolls) were posting honest-to-god name-dropping harassment in the tag because "it's a popular tag so more people will see my callout post" and 2) I reached a point where seeing anything related to the novel on my dash just set me off. It didn't even need to be drama-related anymore. Mentions of the characters, mentions of popular AUs, just the very content of this book became triggering to me, and I really didn't miss the content when it was gone, as sad as that is.

And the kicker? I've come to realize that I probably dislike more things about the novel than I actually like about it. Not only is it tied to some of my darkest moments in recent memory, but it's also just... a book with many flaws that I could go on and on and on about. Sometimes, it straight-up made me furious, like seething mad, and I think I'd rather just be happy. But even when I would try to channel that energy into being happy, I always felt I had to over-clarify or else I’d get bombarded with anonymous messages. If you’ve seen any of my posts from during that time… chances are there is a passive aggressive “btw people can have opposing opinions from you about an old book and it doesn’t give you leave to stone them” or several tags of “#this is a joke #a jooooooke #for the love of god #if y’all don’t stop”. I bet it was as annoying for y’all as it was for me.

P.S. Mutuals/friends, do not worry. Y'all keep doing y'all. I can and will block tags if seeing your posts triggers me. So, I suppose my only request is to properly tag, but I've been saying that from the very start.

I just want to move on to other things.

I took a break for Lent. I needed it terribly. And... not gonna lie? I almost didn't want to return. I never got an itching to just log on and "check in". I very successfully avoided tumb altogether. I came back because "I gotta come back eventually" and also like, this is my main hub where I update when I've written a fic, and ya know... I'm not gonna let toxic fandom bs rule my shit.

During my break, I got back into gaming. More specifically, I started playing Hades again. And listening to Epic the Musical. Aaaand boyyy did that bring me back to my Greek mythology phase. I have a Greek mythos/Hades sideblog btw: @areopagusimp. It's cringe, if you can't tell by the blog name.

Back when I was into Hades game and general Greek mythos, my expectations were so much smaller, but yet, my goals and will to create seemed so much bigger. I made art that no one gave a single solitary shit about (except for my friend), but I was happy. Maybe I'm wearing rose-tinted glasses, but... even if I wasn't as happy then as I remember being... haha at least I wasn't receiving threats and insults in my inbox back then :))). That was the most fun thing about the gothlit fandom. I hope every single chickenhearted angry anon is proud of their behaviour.

But yeah, whatever I end up doing, I’m striving to not let it run me into the ground.

But... What do I do now?

I have so many WIPs (art and writing) for the novel, and it's very disappointing that I didn't get to finish them before it all turned sour. Hopefully, I can still finish them, it just won't be with the same distress I worked with before. Hopefully, I can post that stuff and fully manage my expectations, not crash and burn when only a few people like it. Because hell! A few people liking my stuff? That's amazing, really. I shouldn't take that for granted. At the same time, I'm setting a boundary for myself. Placing my self-worth into the hands of people who I don't know, who don't know me, and who aren't even paying for the art? I need to stop that. Who the hell is that gonna serve? Absolutely no one.

My number one goal is to finish Orice. It is somehow untouched by my aversion to the novel; it is my safe space. I want to honour it and honour the longtime readers who have stuck with me. It's gonna be hard, but it's gonna be worth it for me.

This feels attention-seeking, and it kinda is. I'm not tagging the main subject and I'm not allowing reblogs because I want this to stay isolated (and hopefully prevent backlash/misunderstandings), but ya know, no matter how much I try to keep this small, I'm still posting it online. But I just feel like I needed to get this off my chest. I don't really owe everyone an explanation, but I want there to be one for my own sake... also it's much easier to generalize and make a post than contact each of my friends/mutuals on here and unload stuff onto them that I'm not sure is too personal or not.

For those of you who are reading: I love y'all. I love the good people I've met through all this mess. I want to keep the good apples, not throw out the whole harvest, alright? Dunno how much you'll care for my art when the subject is different, but... eh. If y'all are willing to try?
