Rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Dino Megazord
Story/Background stuff under the cut, design notes + commentary in the tags!
When needed, the Power Rangers can summon colossal machines known as Zords from their Power Coins. The form a Zord takes is dependent on their personal thought of what could be most powerful at the time of bonding to their coin. For Zordon's originally chosen Power Rangers 10,000 years ago, it was mythical creatures significant to each of their alien cultures, similar in appearance to a Dragon, a Unicorn, a Griffin, a Stone Lion and a Phoenix.
In this team's case, upon finding the coins, Billy posits that the coins could potentially date back to the Ice Age, or even the time of Dinosaurs. Zack and Trini latch on to the Ice Age comment and eventually manifest the Sabertooth and Mastodon Zords, while Jason, Billy and Kimberly think of a Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops and Pterodactyl, respectively.
While the five Zords don't appear as physical contructs until some time into the team's struggle against the Dark Green Ranger, once they do, the Rangers are able to combine them into the great Dino Megazord.
Armed with the powerful Mastodon Cannon and the Triceratops Saber, the Dino Megazord is easily a match for Rita's Dragonzord, eventually gaining the ability to combine with it when Tommy reclaims the Green Power Coin and summons her own purified version.
#rotmmpr#mmpr#mighty morphin power rangers#power rangers#my art#dino megazord#i am... not good at drawin robots. so the rise!megazord is part combining mecha and part fusion ala omnimon/omegamon from digimon adventure#hence the sword and cannon#i imagine also that the triceratops and mastodon heads can shrink and recede their weapons (kinda like the storm megazord's lightning mode)#to allow for more hand-to-hand combat#or to summon other weapons based on the other zords#like a set of daggers for the sabertooth and a buster sword for the tyrannosaurus#and a bow for pterodactyl#idk what the dragonzord looks like yet but. im thinking about basing the dark dragonzord on m*tt's dzord from the comics bc like#i feel like that design could work as inspiration for it with it being more monstrous and agile#while when tommy summons hers its more lumbering and classical godzilla (rise tommy ABSOLUTELY is a fan of showa era godzilla movies)#once again recurring theme in stuff i do being dark dzord is an unstoppable force while tommy's dzord is an immovable object#kinda if that makes sense lmao#anyway. also wanted to mixup the formation a bit so mastodon forms upper arms and left forearm#triceratops is right forearm#sabertooth is lower legs (kinda splits in half diagonally) and pterodactyl is chest head and shoulder joints#tyrannosaurus is main body that the others kind of clamp onto#ALSO each zords placement is significant to each member of the team's place in the group#with billy being everyone's right arm and always wanting to help#zack's the shoulders because he lifts everyone up on them and keeps hold#jason's the main body and core because he's mostly the leader and wants to keep everyone together#trini is the legs because she keeps everyone grounded and moving forward whenever she can#and kim forms the head and chest because she's the heart of the team (being told as much by everyone when she first summons her zord)

Triceratops and Iguanadon, just cause those are two of my favorite dinosaurs, but also I'd read anything from the dino ask list, and like if you posts more I would comment on each and every one like did with the Terran interview
(Or I can just keep sending dinos 😎)
I would love if you kept sending dinos 😊
Triceratops - share a scene where one character is protecting or caring for another
--
“Mika, you have to treat that. Now.” I said, taking her wrist gently and leading her to the bathroom. To some relief, she accepted my help, limply coming with my guidance. In that moment, she almost felt fragile.
I turned the water on cool and directed her to soak her forearms in the sink. Just by guiding her forearm I could feel heat radiating off of the burn.
Mika slouched over the sink, letting out a sob and staring at the red marks on her arms. She leaned over so her forehead rested on the faucet and her half-undone ponytail fell into the water. Defeated, powerless.
“I’ll be right back,” I told her, and left the bathroom and returned to my room, kneeling down to get under my dresser, where a case full of whispers was kept. I hadn’t given it a thought in years, and now I brought it back to the bathroom and opened it.
“What kind are they?” Mika asked, staring at the pods. Her voice had a bit of tired hoarseness to it. She was scared, and I knew I wasn’t who she wanted comforting her, but I was the only one there.
I took out two of the whispers. “These draw away the heat. Gaian.” I said, and she gave a nod and whispered “Okay,” and raised her arms out of the running water, following my instructions without resistance for maybe the first time. I pressed one whisper into each burn. She yelped at it when it pressed against her skin.
“Was there actual fire?” I asked, keeping my gaze on the red skin.
“What?”
“Did he light actual fire, or just raise the heat in your arm?” I asked. It was too early to tell from looking at it.
“He just…” Mika lost words for a second. She was still breathing hard. “Just grabbed my arms. No fire.”
Internal heat was more controlled, more intentional. In some cases that could be more deadly, but she wasn’t screaming in pain still and he’d been calm, and this felt like punishment, but not death.
Mika’s breathing slowed, and I could feel the pods in my hands— still pressed against her arms— getting warmer as they pulled the heat from her arms. She still scrunched her face in pain.
I removed the whispers and set them aside, placing a hand on her shoulder, trying to be comforting though I’m sure I was anything but. “Mika, you can lower the pain yourself.”
She shook her head quickly.
“It’s a Nyp ability.” I said. “You can do it. I know you turn your emotions off all the time, it’s like that.” I didn’t really know how it worked. Raymond had tried to explain how a few times, but I’d always considered it something that I couldn’t really understand. I didn’t have a connection to the mind like they did. I couldn’t explain how the focus spell worked, not really.
She nodded, but I couldn’t tell if she was doing it or just trying not to wail out. I retrieved the next whispers from the box and held them up for her to see. “Vival. Healing.”
She nodded, so I did the same with them, pressing the whispers against the burn until they broke. The gel-like substance inside spread out. I would've rubbed it in myself, but Mika took over, gently running a hand over her arms.
She let out a shaky breath and turned off the faucet. “Thank you,” she whispered, like it was hard to say.

Smooth Criminals - Chapter 2
Warning - Contains violence
The next day Immogene woke to Amber gently shaking her shoulder. Turning her head towards the windows she realized she was squinting against the light. Oruko had let her sleep in. There could only be one reason why. He must have gotten word the challenger was on the way. “Mistress, you’ve been summoned. Word came that the challenger is arriving soon and Master Shredder wants you to attend him in the meeting chambers. Nodding, Immogene got up and followed Amber’s instructions for her dress. The dark pewter lace top and black leather pin skirt hugged her curves like a second skin. The outfit also made the sunset colours of the butterflies and tiger lilies tattooed on the left hand side of her arm, collarbone and shoulder stand out. Sitting in front of her makeup table she did her eye makeup, choosing red and metallic blacks. The palette made her feel powerful and she needed that right now. Shredder always showcased her to his challengers, wanting them to see what would never be theirs. If a challenger succeeded, the entirety of The Foot empire would belong to them, including her. Whether or not that challenger would want to keep her or if she wanted them was irrelevant. Amber crouched and helped her into the strapped and heeled black sandals. Immogene checked herself one more time in the mirror, gave Amber a nod of appreciation and left for the chamber to attend her husband.
Her Shadows opened the doors to the chambers and the sounds of her heels on the marble floors filled the otherwise silent room. She could feel the eyes of Oruko’s Foot on her. Ignoring them and sharing only a brief glance with her friend Gabriella she strode up to her husband. His legs were spread loosely and his forearms rested on the armrests of the chair. There was a gleam of excitement in his black eyes. “Ah, wife. You grace me with your beauty.” His cold eyes travelled over her figure and she barely acknowledged his greeting. “Husband.” Walking up to him she sat on his left thigh as was expected and folded her arms neatly in her lap. Oruko then curled his arm around her waist.
Immogene’s back was straight and her chin was held high. The light in the room made her dark red mahogany hair shimmer and turned the green of her eyes into a pair of emeralds. Her heart was a steady beat in her chest. There was a eerie calm in the room and Shredders eyes were focused at the main doors waiting for his challenger to arrive. Reports were coming in that there was a vehicle approaching the premises.
Shell pressed against the finest black leather, Raph’s thick and muscular arms casually rested on the back of the seat. The car slightly rocked over one too many potholes during the journey to their enemies den. Normally, Raph would have complained about the skills of the driver, instead he only looked out the window. “Boss, there’s fucking holes everywhere. I feel like I’m looking at the last guy that ran into your sai.” Raph only shrugged his shoulders. The city was nothing like he remembered. People wandered the streets aimlessly, garbage littered the sidewalks and too many buildings were boarded up or lay in ruins. Raphael, the second oldest of the Hamato brothers had finally returned home to reclaim what was rightfully theirs. As they drove, his hatred for his old enemy grew to unrivalled proportions. The sound of a whet stone filled the cab as the mutant honed his sai to a deadly edge.
Loading his pistols with bullets, a wolf mutant curled his lips, “Hey boss, this guy must be pretty damn confident if he’s just gonna let us waltz through the front door,” He then chuckled. “Fang...he wouldn’t be running this city if he wasn’t confident.,” The deep tone of a mutant triceratops filled the cab. He took a deep drag of his cigar. “Besides this won’t be easy. Rumor is, Oroku Saki has taken on hundreds of challengers and no one has come out alive.,” He blew out a puff of smoke, “no bodies ever found either.” The wolf smiled, “Worried Trax? Although, I will say it would be easier for all of us to go in and blow their brains out, save us the headache, you know.” He considered his words and then smirked. “Give them one, but they wouldn’t feel it for long.” A deep and amused rumble made both mutants turn their head towards the large terrapin, “I would love ta just barge in and tear apart each of those assholes heads off, but we gotta play this smart.” His thick baritone voice growled lowly. “Tha pompous asshole runnin’ that fancy little club, is tha key ta this whole city. If we’re gonna do this witout costin’ our own boys lives we gotta play along. I want tha pleasure of humiliatin’ that son of a bitch in front of his men. It’s tha only way ta get The Foot’s respect. Sides..,” His hands slowly clenched and his fierce golden eyes opened, “I’ve been waitin’ a long time fer this.” Raph smirks widely as the car door was opened for him. Getting out, his trench coat fluttered in the breeze. Giving the valet a measured glare he lowered his black fedora so only his eyes were showing. “Let’s go.”
Once the doors were opened to them, Raph tucked his hands into his coat pockets. The large terrapin strode confidently into the room as if he already owned the place. He didn’t miss the sneers and snide looks he was getting. His eyes glimmered seeing that the punks were all lined up nicely, just like a stack of dominos just waiting to be tipped over. Coming close to the base of the dais, his eyes lifted to glare into his challengers, but what his keen sight laid upon instead made him pause. There, on the tin cans lap, was a fiery beauty. It took every ounce of his restraint to not become slack jawed when he caught a glimpse of her green eyes.
Oroku Saki had expected the now older turtle to be bold, but not this bold! He blatantly ignored him and laid eyes upon what was his! Shredder’s hand twitched at the insult and the audacity of this freak before quickly schooling his expression. Immogene scrutinized the challenger. He was a veritable walking tank of a mutant terrapin. The blazing gold beneath the rim of the fedora was startling. ‘So this is Oruko’s old enemy.’ She let her eyes wander away, knowing her husband would not want her to spend too much of her attention on the turtle. Shredders hand slowly wandered down her hip and he leaned his head close to her neck. “My dear...,” he purred as he slowly dragged his tongue along her nape and then met the turtle’s eyes. “Mmm yes...she is quite delicious, isn’t she?,” His words were coy in an attempt to get a rise out of the male. Throughout the entire display, Immogene had sat motionless on Oruko’s lap. This was something she was used to. But, if you paid attention to her eyes, you would see the seething anger flashing through the green depths.
The murderous glint directed at her ‘husband’ did not go unnoticed by the mutant. ‘Delicious? Shit ya fuckin’ pervert, tha woman wants ta slit yer goddamn throat. Might be amusin’ ta giv er a knife and see what she does,’. Raph’s lips quirked and he shrugged his shoulders, brushing the jab off, “I’m sure she is. She also seems like tha kind of gal that could kill a man wit just a look.,” He smirked and was even tempted to wink at her. Hearing the brazenly spoken comment from what only could be called a Brute of a terrapin, her eyes flicked to him. His accent was deep and heavy. Straight up from the Bronx was he? And just what in the hell was he doing? She could almost hear the amusement in his tone. Antagonizing Shredder before the battle wasn’t the best of strategies. She took a deeper breath as the barely retained menace in her husbands touch almost made her sweat.
Shredders eyes slowly turned a deep red color as the terrapin added further insult by causally striding around the room like he was taking inventory. “In fact, all this nice stuff ya hav is gonna look really nice in ma colors,” Raph arched a brow and narrowed his eyes challenging the man on the dais making the others around him gasp. “How dare you! You filthy wretch! No one talks to the Master that way!,” Immogene barely concealed a flinch when Slash’s voice boomed, she then watched as he bolted forward. This would be over before it even started. Raph’s eyes lowered to slits and he smoothly dodged the swing of the other males arm and caught it in his hands. Slash’s eyes widened in bewilderment and shock and then tried pulling his hand out of the hold. While maintaining a grip on the swamp turtle mutant Raph calmly grabbed a cigar and lit it. The Brute’s shell was too large for Slash to maneuver around it. Taking a deep pull, he sighed in boredom causing a cloud of smoke to blow in Slash’s face, “Well, ain’t that adorable. Chumps tryin’ ta play tough guy,” Raph’s eyes narrowed dangerously at the other terrapin. In the blink of an eye he twisted the males arm almost completely around enjoying the crack of bones before letting go and watching him collapse. Immogene blinked rapidly as she saw the Brute handle Slash as if he was an inexperienced tot trying to flight with the big boys.
Unfazed by the pitiful display of the swamp turtle, Raph cracked his knuckles, “Now then...if yer done playin’..maybe ya ought ta let yer masta and I carry on.,” Seeing the other mutants seem like they were about to step closer, Raph gave a deep threatening growl that said if they dared step in again he would not hesitate to kill them, “or am i gonna hav ta teach ya all some mannas?” Each of the mutants stepped back a few feet in fear of the males fury. Shredders hand tightened on Immogene’s thigh but she managed not to wince. There would be marks underneath those fingertips, but her heritage would have them faded by dinner. She looked at the behemoth of a turtle and wondered if he was insane. There was a confidence there, but many before him had displayed the same bravado and all had failed. “You have a lot of nerve coming here and making a spectacle of my men, you green menace,” Shredders dark hissed words echoed in the room and he leaned forward, “but I suppose I wouldn’t expect anything less from the man responsible for destroying and looting several of my warehouses and killing nearly seventy of my best men. It seems you’ve improved in your time away.” Shredder nearly growled as Raph flicked the ashes from his cigar onto the plush red carpet. “Huh...only seventy of ‘em...shame..I was aimin’ fer at least a hundred. Betta up ma game.”
Just as Raphael was about to lift the cigar to his lips again, a shuriken cut the tip off and lodged itself into the floor. Immogene felt surprise. The elite Foot knew better than to take action upon Shredders challengers. Falling prey to taunts was not something she normally witnessed amongst the lead guard. The Brute merely arched a brow at the display and casually flicked the now ruined cigar to the marble, “Ain’t much of a smoka anyways.” His voice was calm and he retrieved a toothpick from his pocket and put it between his teeth. Shredder felt his anger boil over and leaned forward. “Well, my wife, it seems I have quite a brave...or rather an incredibly stupid challenger on my hands. Maybe I should show him what happens to those who dared challenge me or push me too far.” Immogene felt her stomach turn at her husbands words knowing what was coming.
At the snap of Shredders fingers, lights flashed on behind him and what they revealed was an entire wall full of heads sealed in jars. Their expressions spoke of the horrors they saw in their final moment. Mutants and humans alike were both suspended disgusting fluids. Looking at the heads from underneath his fedora, Raph’s eyes narrowed at the sick bastard, “Cute little hobby. Wha next? Ya dress ‘em up and hav a nice little tea party wit em?,” Raph’s voice oozed sarcasm and met shredders eyes. Shredder chuckled darkly, surprise lighting his features that the mutant had made him laugh, “Oh such a shame. I could have used a man like you in my ranks. But no amount of grovelling can save you now.” Raph snickered, “Heh I’m not tha one whose gonna need savin’.” ‘Good grief’, Immogene thought. Did he have a death wish?
Reaching into his coat Raph then threw a dagger inscribed with Japanese inscriptions to the floor in between Shredders feet. “I challenge ya, Oroku Saki! Ta a death match! Winna takes all,” He glanced towards the woman before narrowing his eyes. After a moment a cold and calculating smirk formed upon his lips. “I’m lookin’ forward ta takin’ yer goddamned head off!” Tilting his head, Shredder’s expression remained neutral for a moment. Looking at the dagger, his chest slowly vibrated before a dark and sinister laugh filled the room. It made all those besides Raph tremble. The red eyes narrowed, “I accept your challenge you meddlesome turtle.,” He grinned viciously and pulls his wife closer, “Tonight I’ll be cooking you my homelands special recipe my dear.,” He glared at Raph, “turtle stew.”
Shredder stood and held his wife close so she wouldn’t be dumped on the floor with the action. “The battle will commence in one hours time.” Immogene could feel the evidence of her husbands excitement over the up and coming battle pressed into the back of her thigh. A look from Shredder caused the individuals in the hall start to disperse. She flicked her eyes once more to the mutant terrapin before Shredder set her down and took her by the arm. Raph saw the glance and couldn’t help the grin that rose on his face. The expression quickly turned into a scowl when he noticed the tin cans fingers digging into the flesh of her arm pulling her away.
Traximus whispered while they were escorted to a preparation room, “Well Raph, congratulations, you just officially pissed off the most powerful man in all of New York City. Was angering him really a wise move? I’ve never encountered evil like that before.” Raph snickered as he gently lowered the brim of his fedora, “I know a thing or two bout gettin’ pissed off and about ‘ol bucket head. He is a sick evil bastard, I’ll giv ya that...but thing is, he feeds off of othas fears. He’s so confident in his powa and cruelty that he thinks he’s invincible. Well, let’s see im handle someone that doesn’t giv a shit and knows how to attack his pride,” He shook his head, “unfortunately those preserved saps didn’t realize wha they were gettin’ inta. Ya know jammed inta those jars as they are.” Raph barked a laugh. Then his eyes narrowed and he tightly clenched his fists, “lets avenge ‘em..shall we,” He smirked widely and Traximus and Fang began to help him prepare for the fight.
Oruko chuckled deeply as the door closed and Immogene immediately began to undress him. She knew the routine. The veins stood out on her husbands muscles, flushed with blood over the anticipated fight. “What did you think of the challenger, my dear?” Immogene answered not to quickly but also not taking too much time in figuring out what to say. “Not much, husband.” Shredder stared at her for a moment before looking ahead to the battle scene painted on the wall in front of him. “Defeating him will be my greatest victory yet. He is almost worthy of my time. Almost.”
Once her husband was only clothed in his loin wrap she set his fighting leathers in front of him. Then she turned to the large steel armoire that held his suit of metal. Opening the doors as her husband pulled on his leathers, she carefully grabbed the plating that made up the suit. The edges were sharp enough to slice the fine hairs off of her arm. Carrying it over section by section she helped him into it. The final piece was his helmet. He lowered his head and closed his eyes while she put it on him. She was careful of the knife like protrusions. Shredder looked at her. “Wife. You honour me this evening. The way that turtle freak was looking at you reminded me that you are indeed, a stunning and valuable creature.” He stood and pulled her close. “Tonight after we dine on his flesh, you shall bathe in his shell. I will then spend the night showing you my love for you.” His cold fingers grabbed her chin. “It is time you give me a son.” Immogene made herself not react. Oruko had yet to discover she was, in fact, incapable of having children. Panic threatened to overtake her. There would only be so long her husband would try, before sending her off to off to that psycho, Stockman. She swallowed and nodded. Releasing her chin, Oruko put on the last gauntlet and the metal covered hand closed around her wrist. “Come.”
They entered the dark hall that led to the arena. The candles that lined the brick walls flickered as they passed. When they reached the arena she blinked at the bright afternoon sun. Immogene stepped away from her husband and into her personal viewing area. Or as she called it, the splash zone. She looked out at the sands in front of her and saw her husband walking with a menacing grace to the centre of the arena. He stopped for a moment looking out at the crowd and then began to pace as he waited for his opponent. Immogene sat and crossed one leg over the other, once again resting her hands on her thighs. Her two Shadows only a step behind her seat. Her mind drifted to the gold of the challengers eyes. There was a sureness about him despite the pompousness. She had a feeling the terrapin had done it on purpose, making himself seem like less of a threat and riling up Oruko. Pulling her inner lip between her teeth she bit down lightly. For, she didn’t know who she wanted to win.
To be continued…

That Summer Feeling
Tumblr media
A Clyde Logan x Reader One Shot. As always, you can find this up on AO3.
- - - - - - - - - - -
Summer’s swept its way into Boone County West Virginia, bringing with it sweltering temperatures and plenty’a people at the local watering holes. But while most are complainin’ about the temperatures, Clyde reckons that this is his favorite time of the year, ‘n’ that’s because it’s fair season. He’s standing beside Jimmy, their eyes fixated on Clyde’s niece, Sadie, as she spins around and around on one of the rides, screamin’ her little head off and laughin’ all the same. Both of the Logan men chuckle at that while they exchange mundane conversation about their upcomin’ plans for the week. Jimmy’s mentioning somethin’ about another one of Sadie’s pageants just when Clyde’s gaze shifts over to the row of booths that house the various carnival games that he’s come to love.
“Hey, are you even listenin’ t’me?!” The back of Jimmy’s hand makes contact with Clyde’s right shoulder, grabbin’ his attention again with an exasperated scoff. “I swear Momma taught you t’listen better’n that,” he says, to which Clyde replies with nothing but silence.
Just as Jimmy goes off on another one of his tangents, Clyde’s focus shifts to the approach of their little sister, Mellie, who’s lumberin’ along with a large stuffed animal in tow. “Well, well,” says Jimmy, turnin’ to face her as Clyde now finds himself smack dab in between his siblings when Mellie finally stops beside him. “Ain’t you grinnin’ like a possum eatin’ a sweet potato.”
“Yeah, and what of it?” Mellie lifts the oversized stuffed pink triceratops she’d won only moments prior to her arrival. “I just won your daughter a little somethin’. Unlike you, standin’ there all hat ‘n’ no cattle.” Her comeback causes the left corner of Clyde’s mouth to tick upward into the smallest smile, and Jimmy scoffin’ in offense to Mellie’s retort.
Jimmy opens his mouth to reply, but before he can, Clyde speaks up, his gaze shiftin’ over to his little sister. “Which booth y’get that in, Mel?”
Both of the other Logans know why he’s askin’. Clyde’s always had a knack for these carnival games, it’s what he loves most about the fair, so much so in fact that Jimmy’s surprised he’d gone as long as he had today without so much as visitin’ one. Clyde watches as Mellie thumbs over her shoulder in the direction from which she’d initially come. “Balloon dart throw. But, Clyde, they got your old arch nemesis,” she says with another shit-eatin’ grin.
Clyde’s jaw clenches, the muscles tickin’ visibly when he does so, and both Jimmy and Mellie knows what this means. They ain’t gettin’ him outta here until he either beats the Ring Toss, or the fair closes for the day (it’s always the latter). There’s only ever been one game Clyde’s never quite managed, ‘n’ it’s that one. It damn near eats him alive every year.
Muttering a barely audible ‘pardon me’, Clyde excuses himself from his siblings’ presence, eyes fixated on the rows of booths up ahead as he stalks towards the one he intends to beat if it’s the last thing he does on this planet. While he walks, his hand dips down into the front pocket of his jeans, pullin’ out a couple of fives, and when he finally reaches his destination, he slaps them down onto the wooden divide that separates him from the game. When his gaze lifts, however, he freezes in place, caught off guard by the sight of you.
You’re standin’ there, shorts showin’ off toned legs, and tank top tucked just beneath the tan money pouch that’s slung across your hips. Turnin’ away from one of the other gamers, you shift your attention to Clyde and offer him a sly grin. “Well, hi there,” you say in an overly friendly tone, fingers dancin’ along the wood divider as you stop in front of him. “It’s five tries for five dollars.”
His attention dips down to where your fingertips are barely grazing the two fives he’s set down, and only then does he move, straightenin’ his posture and removing his hands from the bills. “‘S’okay. Gimme ten dollar’s worth,” he replies with a nod.
By now, the other player has failed miserably, already having walked off to leave you and Clyde alone at the booth. When he lets go of the money, you’re quick to snatch it, stashin’ it safely away in the pouch before you turn to retrieve ten rings. Turnin’ back to him, you extend your arm forward as if to hand him the rings, but when he reaches for them, you pull them away. “Ah!” Your free hand slips into his to push it down towards the wooden divider. “Don’t be so quick to grab,” you teasingly scold him. He’s not sure if it’s the words that are leavin’ your mouth, or the way your hand’s still in his, but he can feel the tips of his ears growin’ hot ‘n’ he’s suddenly real grateful for that long hair’a his. “All’s y’got to do is get one’a them there rings over ‘n’ around the neck’a one those bottles over there.”
He notices now that as you’re speakin’, your hand isn’t leavin’ his, and he’s not sure if that’s by design or if it’s a subconscious move. He can’t help but wish that it’s the latter.
“I know how to play,” he says, breaking his own reverie. Only then do you hand over the rings to him, your hand slippin’ away from his own, the sly smile still present as you step away from him.
“Go on then, hotshot, let’s see your best.” You fold your arms across your chest and lean against the corner of the booth, eyes fluttering between Clyde and the game, watching as he lines up his first shot. He goes with the underhand shot first, the ring circling around the top of the bottle before slidin’ right off. You don’t miss the way the muscles of his well defined jaw tick in silent agitation, though he doesn’t say so much as a word. He tries a second time using the same method, and this time when the ring drops down between the bottles, he exhales a long breath through his nose, the huff makin’ you smile a little to yourself.
Clyde tries again ‘n’ again, each time gettin’ more and more frustrated with his lack of winnin’. After he misses his final shot, his hand comes slammin’ down onto the wood just as he huffs out another breath, this time a curse leavin’ right along with it. “C’mon, hotshot,” you say as you step on over to him, your hand dipping down into the money pouch to pull out a ring for yourself. With your attention still on him, and his eyes borin’ into yours, you flick your wrist to hurtle the ring towards the bottles. You make it look so effortless, the way the ring slides down overtop one of the bottles’ necks. “It really ain’t that hard,” you taunt, the teasing tone makin’ another appearance.
“How’d y’do it then,” he asks, leaning in to rest his forearms against the wood, his body hunched down to where he’s now lookin’ up at you.
You smile, and he swears it’s the prettiest fuckin’ thing he’s ever seen in all’a Boone County, and this part’a God’s green Earth is filled with plenty’a beautiful things. Your shoulders roll into a nonchalant shrug as you turn away from him momentarily to collect the rings, stuffing them all back into your pouch. Only then do you turn back to face him, resting your own forearms against the wood directly beside him, looking over to him when you do so.
“Tell you what,” you start, the smile you’d sported a mere moment ago has grown into something softer, shier. “You take me out to one’a those there stalls later, say in about an hour or so, ‘n’ I’ll tell you all about it.”
Clyde chuckles, brows raisin’ just before he makes his reply. “Y’mean like a date?”
It’s your turn to feel the heat on your face now as a flush creeps up onto your cheeks, head nodding slightly. “Yeah. Yeah, I s’pose like a date.”
He’s grinnin’ now, shifting to straighten himself up to his usual height. “An hour it is then.” Clyde throws a quick wink your way before turnin’ to make his way back to Mellie, Jimmy, ‘n’ Sadie. For the first time since he’s started to play these fairground games, he walks away from the Ring Toss with a smile.

okay really quick! i made some MAJOR edits to chapter 9 but i won’t make people who have read it already go hunting, so here they are! important bits italicized. i sure am dying! please do check this out if you already read it because it changes a LOT.
----
Touring people around and telling them every little fact about all the exhibits he loved was hardly a chore; nobody tells you to shut up when they literally sign up to be talked at, to be taught, engaged with, entertained with knowledge and passion for art, and animals, and history. When he’s assigned a class of primary school children, he tends to leave that day all but trembling with happiness.
Kids always end up loving the Triceratops skull almost as much as Jon does because he has fun facts up his sleeve that aren’t in the brochures. He’s reverse engineered a whole life story for it based on the divots and trenches carved into the bone, and even cross-checked with a visiting paleontologist to confirm the potential realism. A few far-fetched speculations don’t hurt when he spins that yarn in dynamic stage whispers for wide-eyed 8-year-olds. There’s no way to know the truth of something so long dead, anyway. What matters is caring enough to wonder. There are few things Jon treasures more than watching at least one person get that spark in their eyes that says they'll think about it even after the experience is over.
It’s rewarding. It’s fun. He loves it, he really does.
----
When the gentle touch becomes a nudge, Jon lets himself be moved by it. There’s room to his left now that hadn’t been there before. The person sitting there has shied away. Revolted, no doubt. Disturbed. Uncomfortable with expressions of— of any kind, probably. Between them and the person leaning so heavily on his other side now, Jon is certain that they’re right to feel that way.
The hand on his back becomes a forearm again, a hard elbow digging into a sore spot on his spine when the tube shakes and shudders once more. Jon’s arm is no longer pressed firmly to the side of the person’s leg but rather their ribs when they all but collapse into the seat. Their ribs are moving wrong; stuttering, almost heaving. Through the corner of his eye Jon can see them gripping at their chest with the hand not fisted in his jacket, their long hair fallen in wisps over their shoulder to hide their face. Jon presses his sleeve down harder against his mouth to keep back the feeble sound of horror and guilt building in his throat, but it must have come out anyway. The person’s hand unclenches from his jacket and goes back to tracing shaky, absent shapes.
Jon can’t wrap his head around this. He should hate this, being touched by a stranger on the tube. It’s invasive, it’s rude, it’s presumptuous, it’s everything he realizes now that he needs and that much more. It’s awful, and he can’t bring himself to sit up and pull away. He’s being just as outrageous by leaning into it, by curling closer, greedily seizing this opportunity to hide from all the other judgmental eyes around him. He can’t pull back yet. Not while there is a hand tracing gentle trenches into his back and he can’t stop thinking about Georgie and Mickey and ‘Chess’ and permanent disability long enough to pull himself together.
Jon doesn’t know why it feels like this is all he’ll ever get. Mickey would have probably given him this. Hell, she might have genuinely liked him, for all he knew. It honestly felt that way when she would look him directly in the eye and sing, ‘And you ask me why I love her through wars, death, and despair.’ As if he were not only the recipient of her love but also the person who cast doubt upon it, and she was trying to convince him of his worth. Like they truly had been communicating through clandestine codewords, and he hadn’t just imagined it after all.
It was always when she sang, ‘How could I leave her? Where would I start?’ that his eyes began to burn. The music would crescendo, and her voice would fill the theatre, and Jon would have to look away.
---
The arm is now slung around his back like he’s known this person for years, their hand dangling over his opposite shoulder now. Jon strains for another look at the nail polish. Very chipped, yes, and the nails themselves are bitten as short as Jon’s are. Stress, then. Yet another reason that they shouldn’t have been standing for so long. A reason for Jon to let them continue leaning on him until the tube finally stops somewhere that they can get off.
No, not they. They’re not here together, going to the same place. That’s ridiculous. They haven’t even said a word.
---
Everyone left in the compartment, anyway; how many stops had they passed while he kept his head down? It’s emptier now. There are empty seats. The person could have chosen anywhere else to get their heart rate right instead of staying pressed up against him, and Jon has no idea what he’s supposed to do with that information. The thunderbeat that picks up in his own heart can’t be trusted. Traitorous, is what it is. Absurd.
The only thing he can think to do is unzip his rucksack to wrestle around inside it. His fingers find the plastic bottle he wants and he hates that it’s so warm, but it’ll have to be enough. He knows better than to try forcing himself out of the nonverbal spell. He has nothing else to offer in place of thanks, or an apology. Jon plucks one earbud out of place, finally, just in case.
The water bottle changes hands quietly once he holds it under the person’s line of sight. They haven’t lifted their head yet, either. Their fingertips are cold when they brush his hand. They seem almost too tired to do anything with the water other than hold it limply over their lap. The mumbled thanks just makes him hate even more that he’d accepted anything from them first.
The next time the tube stops, Jon finally gets a grip on his crutches to pull himself up. The arm around him falls away like a sandcastle in high tide. No resistance. No fight.
---
Georgie would make fun of him for playing out some janky mockup of Cinderella and tease about how there’s no way his bizarre imaginary underground prince would be able to find him via disposable water bottle, even if he had carved a stupid doodle of a duck into the cap with a paperclip. That he’s not really writing fairytales for himself at all if what he’s really after is just another thing to regret, or pity himself for losing. That if he really wanted to be remembered or written about, he should have at least tried to say thank you for trying to comfort me.
---
It’s unfair to think of them as if they hadn’t been hurting themselves for his sake. It’s unfair to pretend that it was anything less, or anything more.
---
anyway i’m in agony! chapter is now 9.4k long! oops!

For The Love of Shell
Tumblr media
It’s time for the battle nexus championship!
Read it in its entirety here
Chapter 39
After a few inquiries, Leonardo managed to locate Usagi who was talking to a man who resembled a rhinoceros. The man was big and burly, muscled yet lean and Leo noticed quickly it looked like the male’s horns had been cut off. He could only imagine that was the Gen, Asuna had been talking about. Before Leo could approach Usagi looked up to see the blue banded turtle making his way over.
“Leonardo son!” Usagi yelled hurriedly making his way over to his turtle friend. Their hands shot out clasping each other’s forearms in a firm steady handshake. “My friend I’m glad to see you. I hope all is well with you and your family.”
Leonardo smiled back at his rabbit friend watching as the rhino man made his way up behind Usagi his deep onyx eyes fixed on him.
Usagi heard his heavy friend come up behind him huffing through his nostrils. Turning slightly Usagi ushered to the man wearing a white kimono with red paw prints on each breast. “Leonardo son this is my friend Murakami Gennosuke, he will also be joining us in the tournament.”
Leo waited for a curt or rude comment from the intimating Rhino but the thin line of his lips parted revealing a bright smile. His hand shot forth gasping Leo’s in a firm handshake. “Please.” Gen started. “Any friend of Usagi is a friend of mine and my friends call me Gen. Usagi has told me much about you and brothers and everything you’ve done for the Daimyo over the past year. It is an honor to meet you Leonardo. I will say I am a little worried to face you in the arena, I don’t want to put you off when I beat you in combat. By the way would you like to make a small wager on the tournament? It’s a good deal.”
Leo studied Gen and gauged his facial expressions finding them genuine and light hearted. The rhino was cocky but actually friendly. “I appreciate the offer Gennosuke….err sorry Gen, but I’m not a gambler but I look forward to facing you in the arena. We’ll see who beats who and please, Leo will do.”
A large belly laugh came from Gen who patted the back of his carapace shaking his hand once again. “I like you turtle, you have spirit.”
“Leonardo son please tell me how things are with you and your family? How are your brothers and how is Aurora? Where is she? I thought she’d be traveling with you.”
Leonardo took his time telling his friend what had transpired in the past year in their lives including Asuna’s inappropriate advance that had just happened 20 minutes earlier. He watched as Usagi’s happy demeanor soured as Leo explained the scene, his fists clenching in anger.
“I am sorry my friend, what she did was horrendous, I am ashamed for her. I will talk with her and urge Asuna apologize.”
“There is no need Usagi son, her actions do not project onto you and it is not your place to make her apologize. I just wish to keep her away from my family for now. I have no idea how much damage she’s done and I have not have seen Aurora in a year so I am unsure how to approach her now. I just want her to know I wasn’t a will participant.”
“Women are nothing but trouble my friend!” Gen laughed wrapping his arms around both Usagi and Leo’s shoulder pointing them towards the arena in the distance. “Delightfully soft and delicious trouble! Now my friends no more talk of such distractions, let us get something to drink before we battle!”
Being stubborn, Gen wouldn’t take no for an answer and drug the two to a nearby tavern filling their glasses with cool amber liquid that burned.  They spent an hour sharing stories and a few laughs but Leonardo and Usagi refused any further mead wanting a clear head for the tournament.
Usagi and Gen followed Leo back to their room to gather his brothers. It was time to register for the tournament and get ready for the qualifying round. Opening the door to their shared suite they found his brothers sitting on their beds going through their purchases. Mikey and Raph were examining each other’s new blades when the door swung open. Donnie’s head shot up seeing his brother walk in with Usagi and a massive Rhino.
All three of his brothers made their way over to the door greeting Usagi and meeting Gen. Raph and Gen hit it off rather quickly flexing as they clasped hands and soon began talking about their work out regiments. As the two brutes chattered on Donnie could see something was up with Leo; he wasn’t making eye contact with any of them as he ushered them out of their room and towards the arena. His eyes were searching the crowds frantically for someone.
“Leo, who are you looking for? Master Splinter said he’d meet us at the arena?”
“She’s here.” He said softly his eyes never leaving the swarm of contestants.
“WHAT?!” all three of his brothers yelped closing in on their leader grabbing his arms to stop him.
“You saw her?! When? Did she say anything to you?” Raph’s hands pulled him to face him, his large hands hooking around his carapace almost bringing him into a hug.
“Yeah I did, but the reunion wasn’t a happy one due to the compromising position Asuna had me in.”
“What are you talking about Bro?” Mikey chimed in.
“Asuna found me in the market and was going to bring me to Usagi since she knew where he was but on our way there she started acting funny. She pushed me back against a building and kissed me and of course just as she did Aurora came around the corner and saw it. There’s no doubt in my mind Asuna saw Aurora coming and did what she did to make Aurora jealous or angry. She was successful in her pursuit. There was a mixture of surprise, hurt then anger.  Either way by the time I pushed her from me, Aurora was gone.  But at least we know she’s here to compete. I need to find her and tell her I wasn’t willingly kissing that manipulative rabbit.” He could feel the anger rising within him again, “I can’t even imagine what’s running through her mind right now.”
“I am sorry my friends.” Usagi sighed. “She has talked about you quite a bit over the last year. But I didn’t think she would be capable of such a callous act let alone the assault to you Leonardo son.”
Raphael growled low in his throat as they started walking again. “You need to keep that bitch on a leash or I’ll do it for you. She’s messing with my family.”
Usagi didn’t respond moving alongside the four turtles and Gen to registration.
Leo could feel the tension from his brothers pulsate around him; it was almost to the point of excitement. They could possible see her or maybe fight against her in the tournament. That itself was a sobering thought. That was not the first way they wanted to see her after a year, but it was at least better then how he first saw her with Asuna pressed into him……. Lost in thought Leo almost ran into the line to register but Donatello’s hand came out to stop his momentum.
True to his word Master Splinter met them at the arena, watching proudly as his four sons registered for the tournament. After completing their enrollment Leonardo told his father of his quick and unpleasant interaction with Asuna and Aurora. He could tell by the darkened expression his sensei was also upset at Asuna’s behavior.
“We will deal with his turn of events after, now is the time to prepare my sons. Concentrate on your goals and your strategies. See your opponent and anticipate his or her next move but most of all have fun. Enjoy this glorious one of a kind experience. You honor your father by continuing this tradition.”
A large gong was rung indicating the beginning of the tournament and all contestants poured into the large arena waiting patiently for the Daimyo to make his appearance. The four turtles began searching the mass of contestants looking for that one face they longed to see. Leo’s gaze drifted and unfortunately found Asuna, who was several feet from them, trying her best to gain his attention but Leo ignored the troublesome female.
There were so many different species and aliens, large and small from the vast universe that had come to attend this battle of skill. It was a bit mind blowing seeing what was out there past the stars. So many colors and shapes it boggled the mind.
“Dudes! Do you see the big triceratops man over there?” Mikey squealed in enthusiasm pointing to the behemoth that oozed danger several few to their left. Just like most of the contestants he stood on two feet carrying an oversized ax that rested on his broad shoulder. He was adorned in some sort of uniform no doubt part of some kind of military. They hoped they didn’t need to defeat that monster, well maybe Raph wanted to test his skills on the warrior.
“There she is!” Donnie called pointing to the opposite side of the arena they were standing. Their eyes moved through the bodies and finally saw her. She was in black pants with a band around her upper right thigh with an assortment of Kunai. Her top was covered in dark plum, long sleeves pushed up to her elbows and a neckline that plunged down her sternum ending just at her breasts.
Her hair length seemed to be the same length but what drew their attention was the purple streak of color in her hair running down the left side of her face. Eyes moving to her side they saw both of her mystical katanas hung securely at her hip by a leather strap, their four colors still interweaved into the hilts of the ancient blades. She looked healthy but foreboding with an ominous scowl displayed on her full lips. She was ready and waiting to prove herself to the Daimyo and the rest of the warriors.
Another gong rung bringing their attention to the top of the arena, where the Daimyo, Ue-Sama, and surprisingly Master Splinter had appeared looking down at the eager crowd of contestants. Somehow sensei had gotten a front row seat to the tournament; it was good to be friends with the Daimyo.
The war staff clutched in his hand the Daimyo raised both hands high in the air gaining a thunderous cheer from the crowd. Leo noticed Ue-Sama’s gaze trained in on someone in the crowd. Following his sight line down to the arena, Leo found the Daimyo’s son practically drooling as he looked down upon Aurora who was currently unaware of the lustful stare. The leader hands clenched at the flaring anger, digging the tips of his nails into the palms of his hands.
As the crowd quieted down it gave the Daimyo the chance to speak. “Great warriors from near and far, we welcome you to this year’s Battle Nexus Championship! We welcome the new and the returning contestants; you honor us with your presence and your skill that you put to the test today. Each of you will battle each other until there is only one left. The lone winner will become this year’s Battle Nexus Champion. This is a non lethal combat so before the final stoke can be delivered the loosing combatant will disappear from the arena and be brought to the medical wing of the palace to be checked over by our healers. Now the first fight will be a qualifying round and you will be paired by random. If you pass this round you will move to the first round of the tournament. If you fail, you are done until the next championship. All victors please wait in your partition patiently until all matches are finished. You will be presented to the rest of the victors before the next round commences. Now everyone let the tournament begin!”
As the final gong bellowed indicating the start of the tournament Leo looked back to where Aurora was standing and locked eyes with her violet iris’ making him suck in a mouth full of air in surprise. She was staring at him and he could see the hurt and anger behind her eyes and it tore at him but the walls of the tournament rose ripping her from him once again.
Aurora could see them from across the arena, all four of them standing there watching the Daimyo hype up the contestants before this whole thing started. Besides witnessing that painful scene of Leo and that damn rabbit pressed together earlier today this was the first time seeing the four brothers in a year. They looked good, healthy and from what she could tell, happy. It took every drop of willpower she had not to run over to them and wrap her arms around each and every one of them….well maybe not everyone.
Leonardo had obviously come back to the nexus for little bunny foo foo. Maybe that was the real reason he ended it between them, to come back here for Asuna? To be with someone like him? From what she could see earlier today they seemed rather content to be in one and others arms. But to be fair she didn’t stay long to analyze the situation, the moment she saw her lips on Leo’s she saw red and left before she could do anything stupid. Leo wasn’t hers anymore and no longer could get mad when that little bitch touched him. Now wasn’t the time to think about such things, the tournament was about to start and she needed to focus. She just hoped that she would end up in a match with Asuna so she could blow off some steam. One final glance and she would be done with it. Returning her sites back to the four brothers Leo’s gaze met hers. Those deep blue pools almost looked sad as they held her gaze. She swallowed the sob that rose in her throat; she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction. Why was there so much longing after all this time, she didn’t want to hurt anymore? As his lips parted and hands rose the walls shot up engulfing them in the white light of the war staff, it was time.
It felt like a dry liquid as she was rushed up into a small partition of the arena ready to test her skill against the best in the universe. She didn’t expect to win but it would be fun to see how far she could get. There was a lot of intimidating competition from what she could see, even weird looking aliens.
As her competition rose from the liquid a wicked smile spread across her face, karma was sweet this day.
Asuna was ready to win this fight as she rose into the competition, her sword already pulled from its sheath ready to strike but her confidence fell like a lead balloon as she saw her opponent. Aurora stood triumphant a few feet away, her one hand already gripping the hilt of one of her twin katana. If looks could kill she would no doubt be dust on the ground with only her sword as evidence she was there. She had to think fast, needed to mess with the superior opponents mind, throw her off her game. Leo’s brilliant blue eyes flashed across her vision and the taste of his lips flooded her mind. She would use the heartbreak of loosing Leonardo to her advantage and get inside her head. All was no lost….yet.
“Little bunny foo foo….. I am so glad to see you.” Aurora cooed almost seductively slowly pulling one of her katana from its black sheath. The sing of her metal as it slipped free of its confines echoed in the chamber. “I was hoping we’d meet in here. I have so much anger to unleash and to dole it out to one of the very sources of it would be so appropriate and gratifying.”
Asuna stepped tentatively forward as she began to circle Aurora, her eyes never leaving the human. Think, make her angry. “You mean about me finally getting Leonardo and his delicious lips. You know his tongue is so soft and nimble, it tastes like peppermint.” If the woman was affected by her taunting she wasn’t showing it. She needed to hit harder, deeper. Time for the big guns. “Do you know who planted the seed to the inevitable end to your doomed romance with Leonardo?” Oh that peaked her interest. “I did, I told him you would grow tired of being in the shadows and want a normal life with a normal human man. That you would yearn for marriage and children of your own and he could never give you those things.”
Her vision suddenly became very clear zeroed in on the female rabbit with the very smug look on her face. “It was you?” Aurora hissed between clenched teeth pulling the other katana free from its confines. She could feel every muscle in her body coil ready to strike, the heat of her power beginning to stir within her, the power she had rarely used in almost a year. She was the spark that grew into the flame that burnt her life to the ground taking everything that she loved from her?
Asuna swallowed the sudden rising lump in her throat as Aurora’s eyes swirled with a purple light of her rising powers. She had forgotten about those. She had definitely awoken the beast within but in for a penny in for a pound. No turning back now. “Now he and I can be together, I can make him feel normal because he’s with his own kind. I can give him what he needs. Leo doesn’t need to hide below the surface in your dimension anymore. He and his brothers can walk in the sunlight and buy wares like normal people here. ”
Red, all she could see was red. Asuna was the cause of her pain, the loneliness she endured for a year, banned from returning to the lair from seeing the turtles, kept Leonardo from her. All because little bunny foo foo had a lady boner for Leo. So she could take her place and hop right into his awaiting lap? “Breath” she whispered to herself. She was trying to get under her skin; the rabbit was just trying to throw her off her game, so she could gain the upper hand. Well not today bitch!
Spinning her extremely sharp weapons in her hands Aurora was tired of this game and screamed lunging forward bringing her weapons down on the overly confident rabbit knocking her to the ground.
Somehow Asuna managed to block her attack as she stumbled back the once smug look on her face was replaced by sheer panic. With all the finesse of her training Aurora kicked off the wall and spun kicking Asuna in the gut as she got to her feet making her tumble to the floor once again.
“Get up!” Aurora growled advancing on the rabbit both katana gripped in her fingers, her knuckles white from the force. “You were the catalyst that took everything from me! I had finally found my family, someplace to belong and you played on Leo’s insecurities and took them from me! Just so you could get a chance with him! You hate me so much then prove it! Fight me! GET UP!”
Asuna grappled to her feet once again readying her blade hearing the agony in the Aurora’s voice. She had struck a nerve with the woman but she didn’t falter or show any signs of losing control. She was just angry, very very angry and looked extremely terrifying. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea? But Asuna wasn’t ready to give up this fight, she wanted to compete, and she wanted Leonardo. “He’s mine now! You lost him, now move on!” The white female rabbit attacked with vengeance defending herself, but her skill level was nowhere near Aurora’s. Before she knew it, she was struggling to keep up with her, stumbling as Aurora moved with precision each blow she brought down hitting its mark. Asuna could see just how sharp those blades were and was suddenly very thankful this was a non lethal competition.
The hilt of Aurora’s blade connected with Asuna’s abdomen adding to the growing aches across her body. She arched back at the force of the hit and leaned back just as the long blade came up across her right side catching the tail of her harness slicing a section free.
Somehow Asuna managed to keep the scream that threatened to burst free at bay and brought her katana up meeting another swing of Aurora’s weapon. The woman moved quickly dropping down swinging her leg out bringing Asuna to the ground.
Asuna rolled backwards away from the seething female and got to her feet defending herself once again.
A few short moments later Aurora stopped, the anger and venom had drained from her face, all that remained was emptiness and grief. She sheathed one of her weapons and adjusted her top resting the dull side of her remaining katana on her shoulder, “I-I can’t keep holding on to this. You’re not worth my energy anymore. This is taking away from my peace and I don’t want you to hold that much power over me.”
Aurora shifted on her feet and flipped over the rabbit and brought her katana down and before the blade came in contact with her skull Asuna vanished in a defiant scream in a swish of blue light.
Landing where Asuna once stood, Aurora dropped to one knee, trembling from the adrenaline coursing through her. How could Leo have let her influence him, he had let her get into his head doubting what she felt for him, that she needed nothing else but him. She would have died for any of them, hell she still would, a sobering thought that made her heart beat faster than it already was.
The walls started to lower signaling the qualifying round was over, she had made it and was onto the first round. Standing back up she looked around the arena and found each of the turtles still inside the arena but now in different places far from each other. She noticed Donnie was only a few feet from her his eyes trained in on her, his leg muscles tense ready to close the distance between them but he remained in his place when the Daimyo began to speak.
“Congratulations to those who made it passed the qualifying round, you have now made it to the first round of the tournament. Good luck to you all!”
Donnie reached out as the walls came back up, “Auro…” and he was gone again, and the liquid feeling returned bringing her back to herself, away from her feelings. Deep breaths let her regain her composure just in time for her to reappear in a new partition staring up at a giant squid thing with nine tentacles and purple slimy flesh. Its four eyes narrowed in on her rumbling an unmistakable bout of laughter and shot four of its nine long appendages towards her ready to ensnarl her limbs.
“Fuck.”
Raphael roared launching himself towards the female alien that had just nearly handed him his shell on a silver platter. She was quick and nimble moving faster than his eyes could follow. Somehow, he was managing to sidestep each of the thrusts of her unique circle blades. He could hear her displacing the air as she moved around him and he decided to try the trick Aurora taught them back at the cabin in the woods. Gripping his sai in each hand he closed his eyes and listened letting everything else fall away. To his left he heard her moving just enough to evade her blow. She was getting louder easier to pin point. Behind him she was coming and fast, whirling around he brought his sai out and heard her gasp. He opened his eyes just in time to see her floating in the air millimeters from the business end of his sia. She mumbled something in her native tongue and smiled before disintegrating into blue dust. He had won; with a deep bellow he lifted his hands into the air in triumph.
Having won his match Leo re-sheathed his katana and waited patiently for the wall to retract hopefully revealing his equally successful brothers and Aurora. After about 20 minutes on waiting the wall disappeared and he searched the dwindling mass for his brothers. Quickly he found them all with victorious smiles on their faces, his heart swelled with pride. Then his eyes landed on Aurora and nearly burst out laughing from the sight, she was slicked up with some sort of slim covering her from head to toe. The look of utter annoyance painted her face as she returned her katana to their sheaths and tried to wipe off as much of the substance from her arms as she could.
“You have passed the first round warriors!” The Daimyo voice broke over the arena pulling their gazes back to the large ruler. Leo could see his father sitting on the edge of the ridge looking down on them, his eyes filled with pride.  A small commotion next to their sensei made them look to the Daimyo and Ue-Sama who was pointing down to the slippery Aurora below. The Daimyo chuckled and nodded waving the war staff above his head.
Turning to Aurora they watched her yelp in surprise as she was lifted off the ground and suspended in a red light. After a few moments she reappeared and seemed to be bone dry, no trace of the slippery substance anywhere. Her gaze went to the old man high above and waved a quick thank you before checking to see if her blades were clean as well. Finding all her gear was clean and dry she readied herself but didn’t give the turtles another glance.
The wall rose again engulfing each contestant in the liquid sensation. As Donnie was lifted into his partition a familiar low laugh made him turn on his heal. There stood Raphael ,his sai out ready with a shit eating grin on his lips.
“Welcome to the thunder dome Donnie boy.” The large red banded turtle rumbled again lunging forward towards his brainiac brother.
“Bring it Raphie!”
The electric staff swung out catching the hurdling red missile in his gut stopping his momentum instantly. Raph grunted as the wind was knocked from him and toppled forward from the force of the blow. When did Don learn to hit like that?
Donnie flipped backward when Raph’s arms swung out trying to tackle him as he fell forwards.
Raph got to his knees looking at his tall brother, “Looks like someone has been working out. That blow had some power behind it Don but in the end, it won’t help you!” Flexing his colossal calf muscles the red turtle lunged forward again grappling for Donatello but came up empty yet again.
Donnie was slimmer more agile then his older brother, not to mention he had a quick mind. Being a genius was always a benefit when it came to ninjutsu. While his hothead brother relied on his brute strength for his strategy Donnie relied on his big brain. Always thinking about how he could outsmart his enemy using what he had available to him to meet his goal. Raph would no doubt try to bum rush him stabbing wildly with his sai but Donnie knew how to win against Raphael. It wasn’t the nicest approach, but it would definitely work. The rage that constantly bubbled from within the large turtle was his ultimate downfall, a few well-placed verbal jabs and the colossal turtle would be swinging blindly with fury. He wouldn’t be thinking about sneaky Donnie and his bag of tricks when he was seeing red. Narrowing his eyes, Donnie bounced lightly with his knees as Raph began circling him, his sai swinging in and out of his palms as if it were a nervous twitch.
“Here goes nothing.” Donnie smirked readying his sharp tongue.
Aurora put away her katana and knelt with her palms out preparing for her next battle. Taking a deep breath she centered herself. This alien she had just beaten was a bit perplexing and terrifying. It was about half her size, small, fluffy and adorable. That was until it screamed for glory and sprung for her throat with its once tiny smiling mouth, it opened wide nearly engulfing half its face with jagged blue teeth dripping with yellow saliva. Several chains shot forth from its claws wrapping around her limps pulling her towards the large snapping mouth. If Aurora wasn’t in compete shock by the horrifying transformation from cute to terrifying she would have screamed at the top of her lungs. To say it was fast was an understatement but luckily for her wasn’t that strong. Thankfully Aurora already had her katana in hand and was able to bring the metal down on each chain that held her arm and break them with ease.  As reflexes took over she ducked, dodging the mouth full of teeth and rolled forward away from the furry creature. Getting to her feet Aurora dodged another flying attack catching the back of its body with a handful of fur. Hoisting it into the air she flung the small thing high into the sky and it howled with anger sending its chain rushed towards her again. This time she was prepared and dove away just as the chain bit into the hard floor of the arena.
Aurora’s hand shot forth and grabbed the chain and began swinging it around in a circle above her head like a cowboys lasso. The furry being screamed as it was flung around getting angrier and angrier the faster Aurora went. Finally finished Aurora pulled down hurtling the thing to the ground and swung her blade just before it hit making the alien disappear.  Jesus that was weird.
Just then the walls began to lower and as the last of the contestants were revealed a loud bellowing yell came from the palace.
“DONNIE!” There was no mistaking it was Raphael.
Looking over to the genius he was leaning against his bo staff with a sly smirk on his face and Raphael nowhere in sight. He had beaten Raph in the nexus championship and by the sounds of the hotheads scream he was not happy about it. Good for Donnie though, he deserves to be seen not as a genius but an excellent fighter.
Making sure not to catch his eye she stood from her kneeling position and faced the castle waiting for the next match. The contestants were dwindling and Donnie, Mikey and Leo remained of the turtles. There was no way she wasn’t going to be matched with at least one of them before this thing was over with. She just hoped it wasn’t Leonardo. She didn’t think she could handle that, at least not after what she saw in the street a few hours ago.
The Daimyo stood along with Ue-Sama who looked down at her from above with a large smile on his face. She knew that look; she had seen it the last time they were here.  It was the look she couldn’t reciprocate with the Daimyo’s son but she gave him a warm smile back nodding in acknowledgment. After this was done she would head back home, the more time she spent with the man the more uneasy she became. There was something not right about him, like he was scheming something behind his father’s back. It made her skin crawl and she hoped she was wrong.
Again the Daimyo raised his war staff and the walls began to rise engulfing the remaining warriors in its power.   Aurora closed her eyes taking quick solace in the feeling of being weightless even if it was for only a few seconds. As she rose into the next battle she let out a small sigh before opening her eyes. Pulling her katana from her sheathes she heard a shaky breath just a few feet from her. Without a second thought she opened her eyes and her blood turned cold as her body froze in place.
“Leo.”

Prompt: Kara takes Mon-El to a museum for the first time :)
This one got REALLY long but that’s just what your prompt did to my brain and if I get into any kind of trouble for this I’m blaming you. Also this was supposed to be set in show canon but some of my own writing slipped in so... yeah.
---------
The idea comes to her out of the blue, and the longer Kara considers it the more sense it makes.
She hasn't been a great mentor to Mon-El, she's willing to admit as much, but now that she's aware of it she's trying to make up for her past mistakes and do it right from now on. Of course, sheer determination only gets her so far and she ends up getting kind of stuck pretty quickly... that is, until an innocent little pamphlet in her mailbox gives her some unexpected but brilliant guidance.
“We're going to the museum,” she announces with a bright smile and more than a fair amount of enthusiasm the next morning when she visits him in his quarters at the DEO.
Predictably, he does not share her excitement and simply stares at her with a perplexed look on his face. “We are? Why?”
Uncharitable thoughts about Daxamites and their blatant disregard for higher learning fill her mind and all but erase her jubilant mood but she fights to keep her irritation from showing. Deep breaths, Kara. You promised yourself you'd be patient with him. It's too soon to give up just yet. “Because if you're going to fit in on Earth, you need to know more about it and unless you want to attend school for the next twelve years instead, this is a pretty good alternative.”
Maybe it's her prejudice speaking but she expects him to refuse because it doesn't sound fun. To her pleasant surprise, however, he barely waits a second before he shrugs casually. “Okay. When are we going?”
“Oh. Um.” Caught somewhat off guard by his almost immediate agreement and maybe feeling a little guilty at having prejudged him – again – without real cause, she flounders momentarily. “We could... go now? If you're free?”
Once again, he just shrugs and puts away his phone – a loaner from the DEO, like pretty much everything else he has – before getting up from his bed where he had been sitting. “Sure. Lead the way.”
He's similarly compliant throughout the journey to their destination, never once giving the impression he doesn't actually want to do as she suggested, and because of that she lets herself slowly believe the trip is going to be a resounding success.
Of course, he proves her wrong pretty much the second they set foot inside the first gallery which happens to be focused on human evolution.
“This is what the first humans looked like?” he asks a little too loudly for her liking as he scrutinises the Neanderthal models in the exhibit with a raised eyebrow. “How long did they take before they started resembling us?”
“Shh!” she hisses at him with a mix of panic and anger as she throws furtive glances around them to check if anyone has overheard his incredibly suspicious questions. “Not so loud! And you talk as if there's no chance your distant ancestors didn't look anything like this!”
Her counterargument naturally fails to have its intended effect because he just turns to face her with that infuriating grin of his. “Nope. Not a chance. I mean, look.” He angles his head so that it's somewhat aligned with that of the Neanderthal model and gestures between them. “There's no way this-” he points at his face, “-could have come from this,” he finishes as he points at the face of the model.
She doesn't really know why she's letting it get to her so much when it's clear he's just fooling around – how she's so certain about that is something she doesn't want to think too much about – but instead of just dropping the matter, she feels compelled to keep the argument going. “So you're saying Daxamites were perfect or something from day one?”
His grin widens as he steps closer, and she gets the distinct feeling she's walked into a trap without realising it. “Why, do you think your ancestors looked like that once upon a time?”
There's no two ways about it; he's got her cornered there, and the realisation makes her grind her teeth with so much force she's almost sure the sound is echoing inside the mostly empty gallery. “Just keep moving,” she finally growls when she decides that responding to his question won't work in her favour and all but bodily drags him towards the next gallery.
True to form, Mon-El is just as insufferable at the next exhibit and every single one after that, making dumb comments and even dumber jokes that she absolutely was not going to laugh at no matter how much he insists otherwise. By the time they're approaching the last gallery, she's one stupid wisecrack away from tossing him into the river and calling this plan an utter failure.
As they come to a stop in front of the dinosaur fossils on display, Kara mentally braces herself for yet another barrage of questions and statements designed to piss her off. Jokes about the T-Rex's tiny forearms most likely, for starters, and maybe some ridiculous comparisons between the triceratops and whatever creature he's seen on another planet.
Instead, he stands statue-like as he stares up at the ancient bones that make up the exhibit in complete silence with an expression she's hesitant to name.
All the irritation she felt before vanishes and she suddenly feels like she's intruding on an extremely private moment even though she can't quite understand why.
“Do you miss them?” he asks apropos of nothing, unreadable gaze still fixed firmly on the fossils.
Restlessness turns into confusion in a heartbeat as she frowns at him. “Dinosaurs?”
He still doesn't look at her. “The dragons.”
Oh.
It clicks then – that almost lost expression, that look in his eyes that suggests he's not really seeing what's in front of him but rather something far in the past, that uncharacteristic quietness... She knows them all too well because she still catches herself doing all those things even now.
He's thinking about home.
“The prince had a dragon, you know,” he says softly before she can figure out how to break the silence although she wonders if he's talking to her or no one in particular. “She was called Nes'th; it means 'swift' in old Daxamite.”
They're the only ones here and he's not being too loud which means there's no need to worry about being overheard. Besides, it doesn't feel right to tell him to stop so Kara steps closer and keeps her tone respectful and gentle. “What was she like?”
A ghost of a smile curves his lips, whispering of fond memories and heartbreaking sorrow, and it's so unlike the Mon-El she knows that she finds herself irrationally and inexplicably hating it. “She was beautiful – the most beautiful dragon to ever grace Daxam's skies. The way her black and blue scales glinted under Rao's light... It was like she was the night sky in physical form.”
“You sound like you really cared about her,” she comments carefully. It strikes her as a little strange why a simple guard would be so attached to a dragon belonging to the prince but this seems like a terrible time to ask about it.
“I helped look after her,” he answers her unvoiced question before he finally meets her gaze with a smile that doesn't reach his eyes – eyes which she notices with some disquiet are presently a dull grey instead of their usual colour. “Sorry, could I just... have a moment?”
For a moment, she wants to insist on staying – to tell him that she's here for him and he can talk to her or something along those lines – but stops herself before she actually does it. This is about him, not her; he needs space right now – has openly asked for it, even – and the best thing she can do for him not just as his mentor but also as... a friend, if she dares to use that term... is to give him that. “Sure.”
Kara stays long enough to mumble a soft 'you're welcome' when he thanks her before she does as she'd promised, wandering off until she finds herself in the gift shop of all places. Unsure how much time she should wait before she goes back for him, she browses the souvenirs on sale with no real intention of buying anything until she spots it: a small pterodactyl figurine. It's obviously a toy meant for kids but something compels her to pick it up and take note of the price.
Mon-El's uncharacteristically sombre expression surfaces in her mind and she makes the purchase before she can think twice about it.
Even so, her stomach is in knots for reasons she can't figure out as she goes back to find him and all but thrusts the little gift bag out for him to take. “Here.”
That melancholic expression of his is gone – whether it's because he's gotten over it or buried it under that happy-go-lucky facade of his is unclear – and he looks confused even as he accepts the bag from her. “What's this?”
Her stomach churns as she watches him pull out the toy in slow motion. “It's not a dragon, I know, but it's all they had.”
He stares at the little figurine in his hand like it's the most precious thing in the universe for Rao knows how long and her anxiety just keeps growing until he finally lifts his head and gives her a smile that lights up his entire face. His eyes, she notes somewhat idly, are more blue than grey now too, and it's strangely a relief to see them that way. “Thank you. I really appreciate this.”
Like magic, the knot in her stomach disappears and her heart does a weird flip-floppy thing. “I'm not going to buy you another one if you break it,” she says just to stop herself from saying... what exactly escapes her.
Instead of being offended, he just smiles that little bit brighter and her heart does that weird flip-floppy thing again. “I'll take really good care of it, I promise.”
(When he moves in, the pterodactyl figurine – still in perfect condition – occupies a special spot on one of her cupboards.)

arcade date
Tumblr media
pairing: johnny seo x male reader word count: 1,420 description: every couple had that one place that was special to them. for you and johnny, this was the local arcade. masterlist
“So, how many guesses do I get?” Johnny asked you, placing his hand on your thigh and giving it a gentle rub. You felt its warmth permeate your jeans and reach your skin, and it was a comforting sensation.
You thought about his question before speaking. “Hmm. Three.”
“Three, alright,” Johnny said, and you saw the cogs turning in his brain as he thought hard. “So, we’re on the number 8 bus, which takes us into the city. That leaves open a lot of options. Are we going to... the park?”
You shook your head. “Nope. Two more guesses.”
Johnny cursed under his breath, a display of false irritation that made you chuckle. He pondered for a few more seconds before delivering you another guess. “How about that cafe? The one that did the really good smoothies, the one we went to on our second date?”
Again, you shook your head. “The number 8 bus doesn’t go anywhere near that cafe.”
He was silent yet again, before he turned to you, his eyes glinting with a happy sparkle. “I know where you’re taking me. The arcade, right?”
You said nothing, leaning over and pressing your lips to his. What better date location than the place you two first met?
***
The part-time job you had briefly taken up in an arcade hadn’t been the worst, but it certainly hadn’t been the best either. There was constantly mess to clean up, whether it be discarded tickets or spilled soda, and the near-constant influx of screaming children was a complete and utter nightmare. Thankfully, though, your best friend Ten acted as your saving grace during these times. He would frequently visit the arcade and keep you company during your shifts, and was often the only thing standing between you and insanity.
Ten usually came alone, although on one early Tuesday afternoon when you had been working the prize counter, he had opted to bring company. You hadn’t been expecting him, as he usually only came to accompany you on the weekends - the environment wasn’t so bad when schools were in session.
“Hey, Y/N,” Ten greeted you as he embraced you in a one-armed hug over the counter.
“Hi,” you smiled at him.
Ten nodded to the boy stood on the right of him. “You know Doyoung, right?” You nodded, acknowledging the boy with a smile - you’d had a class with him once, back in high school.
“And this,” Ten spoke again, indicating to the boy on his right this time, “Is Johnny.”
“Hello,” Johnny gave you a small smile.
Doyoung stepped back, patting Johnny’s arm as he said, “Let’s go get some game tokens.” The boys smiled at you again before they departed, and you gave them a lightly awkward wave.
Once the two of you were alone, Ten rested his forearms on the counter separating you, leaning in to speak to you. “Johnny’s cute, right?” he spoke in an excited whisper.
“Definitely,” you agreed. “How long have you known him?”
Ten shook his head, hurriedly correcting your misunderstanding. “Not for me. For you.”
“Ten, are you trying to set me up? I don’t know about this.” You chewed on your lip, an anxious habit you could never quite get rid of,
“C’mon, you said it yourself - he’s cute. Keep an open mind, okay?”
You eyed him from a distance, softening significantly. “Yeah. He’s really cute. Okay.”
“Atta boy,” Ten grinned at you, before turning to join the other two boys.
“Wait,” you halted him, still speaking at a hushed volume. “Does he know about this?”
Ten shook his head and some of your troubles dissipated; at least this wasn’t going to feel forced or awkward. “But Doyoung does.”
You nodded, accepting his answer. “Good luck,” he smiled at you as he left, a slightly mischievous twinkle in his eye. God, you could slap that boy sometimes. The audacity of him, coming in here like a hurricane and disturbing your quiet, peaceful shift. But you couldn’t really be angry at him. Not when Johnny was really, really cute. You had to wonder where Ten had been hiding him this whole time.
There was little more you could do than stressfully man the counter and wait for Johnny to approach you. To your luck and surprise, it was less than five minutes before he met you at the counter.
He smiled at you, wide and sparkling, before announcing, “I have, uh, fifteen tickets here.”
You felt a little shy under his gaze, especially wearing the obscenely bright blue polo shirt that comprised your uniform; especially when he was looking so damn good in a striped navy and white sweater. You gave yourself a mental shake, pushing yourself to speak. “Hm. Not much you can get with that.” You examined the shelves behind you before you concluded, “Little dinosaur or bouncy ball.”
“Hmm. I’ll take a dinosaur, then.” You collected a small plastic figure from the clear box and pushed it towards him.
“Thank you very much.” He upheld an eye contact that made you weak, still with that dazzling smile.
“It’s my pleasure,” you smiled back. In all honesty, you were surprised at how well you were maintaining your composure, but you also worried that you were coming across as more of a fool than you thought.
Your eyes were on Johnny as he left again, though you quickly looked away with rose-tinted cheeks when you were caught eyeballing him by a smirking Ten. It didn’t surprise you that Ten and Doyoung had been staying far away from you at the counter, but you were very aware that they were keeping a watchful eye on both you and Johnny. For the most part, they casually drifted between the claw machines and the retro arcade games. Johnny, on the other hand, played with ferocious intent. Each time he amassed fifteen tickets, he returned to you at the counter, trading them for yet another dinosaur. He had built up quite the collection, although you were fairly certain his desire didn’t lie with the small plastic toys.
“You really like dinosaurs, huh?” you remarked as you passed him his seventh one.
He shrugged back at you. “They’re okay. I’m more interested in the cute guy who keeps giving me them.”
You laughed in response. “You know, you don’t have to keep coming up here to get dinosaurs. You could just stay here and chat with me.”
Johnny nodded. “That sounds a lot better than my dinosaur plan, honestly.”
He had flashed you a smile, and you had giggled as he deposited the mass of dinosaurs onto the counter.
***
“So,” you asked Johnny, walking into the arcade ten months into your relationship, “How many dinosaurs would you have ended up with if I didn’t stop you?”
“For you, my love? A thousand,” Johnny said ardently, earning him a snort and a playful slap on the arm.
Since that first day you met, Ten had taken to claiming the credit for beginning your relationship, but the truth was that it hadn’t taken much work on his part. There had been an instant connection between you and Johnny.
“What first?” you asked, looking across the scope of the arcade.
“Dance Dance Revolution.” Johnny hadn’t missed a beat before speaking, and there was a smirk on his face as he looked down at you.
“No,” you whined, only half-feigning your grouchiness. “You’re so much faster than me, babe, you always win.”
“Come on,” Johnny took your hand, pulling you towards his desired machine, “Just one game.”
“Fine,” you sighed. You complied with him, knowing that you could use this compliance as leverage so that he would win you a toy from a claw machine afterwards.
***
Time seemed to fly inside the arcade, but time always flew when you were with Johnny anyways. A number of hours after you had entered, Johnny took you over to the prize counter.
“What’ll it be?” asked the tired-looking employee; you certainly did not envy them.
“I’ll take one of those rings, please,” you asked them, beaming. They plucked one of the cheap, plastic rings from the tub, and handed it over to you. You took Johnny’s hand, slipping the ring onto his pinky finger - the only finger it would fit. He grinned, admiring the tacky pink jewel.
“Anything else?” the employee inquired.
Johnny responded, “A dinosaur, please.” You chuckled, though the humour was lost on the drained employee, as Johnny pressed a small, green triceratops into your hand.

New Feathered Carnivorous Dinosaur Found in New Mexico

New Feathered Carnivorous Dinosaur Found in New Mexico
Tumblr media
A new carnivorous feathered dinosaur, coyote-sized with razor-sharp teeth and claws, has been discovered in New Mexico’s San Juan Basin. The small but formidable predator called Dineobellator would have stalked these open floodplains 70 million years ago.
Steven Jasinski, a paleontologist at the State Museum of Pennsylvania and lead author of the study in Scientific Reports, says Dineobellator is a new species from the Late Cretaceous (70-68 million years ago) that belongs to dromaeosaurid, a group of clawed predators closely related to birds. These rare fossils have features that suggest raptors were still trying out new ways to compete even during the dinosaurs’ last stand—the era just before the extinction event that wiped them out 66 million years ago. “This group was still evolving, testing out new evolutionary pathways, right at the very end before we lost them,” Jasinski notes.
The bones from this new specimen bear the scars of a combative lifestyle and suggest some unusual adaptations of tail and claw that might have helped Dineobellator notohesperus hunt and kill. The name Dineobellator pays homage to the dino’s tenacity and that of the local Native American people. Diné means ‘the Navajo people,’ while bellator is the Latin word for warrior.
“Due to their small size and delicate bones, skeletons of raptors like Dineobellator are extremely rare in North America, particularly in the last 5 million years of the Age of Dinosaurs,” says David Evans, a paleontologist at the Royal Ontario Museum and the University of Toronto, who wasn’t involved in the study. “Even though it is fragmentary, the skeleton of Dineobellator is one of the best specimens known from North America for its time, which makes it scientifically important and exciting.”

Dineobellator notohesperus outline and skeletal reconstruction.
(Steven Jasinski)
Over four field seasons between 2008 and 2016, Jasinski and colleagues unearthed 20 fossils from a single creature’s skeleton, including parts of the skull, teeth, fore and hind legs, ribs and vertebrae. Dineobellator’s forearms feature quill knobs, bumps found on the bones of dinosaurs or birds that reveal where feathers once attached. Like its relative Velociraptor, this newfound animal was about the size of a coyote or large barnyard turkey, Jasinski says, but probably punched above its weight as a predator.
The fossils indicate the dinosaur suffered a rib injury, but bone regrowth shows that it survived and healed. But this Dineobellator wasn’t so fortunate with an injury to its hand claw. “The hand claw injury doesn’t show any bone regrowth, so it looks like it happened either right at death or just before,” Jasinski says.
Dineobellator’s unusual features include its forelimbs, which appear to be an uncommon shape that would have maximized muscle power to make them very strong, a trait Jasinski suggests was accentuated by claws on both hands and feet. “Their grip would have been far stronger than what we see in the other members of this group,” he says.
Fossils from the animal’s tail also suggest an intriguing anatomy. Most similar dinosaurs have stiff tails reinforced with bones or tendons that would have helped with balance and aided running. “What these animals have … is a lot of mobility at the base of the tail where it attaches to the hips,” Jasinski says. “If you think about how a cheetah attacks, their tail is whipping all over the place because they have to change directions very quickly so it increases agility. That’s what this animal would have been able to do, that others in its group would not. It makes this animal agile and a very good pursuit predator.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reconstruction of Dineobellator notohesperus standing over a nest by Mary P. Williams
(Steven Jasinski)
Paleontologist Alan Turner, of the American Museum of Natural History and Stony Brook University, cautions that without a full skeleton, the remains are too fragmentary and scattered to make serious inferences about Dineobellator’s tail or claws. “A couple of vertebrae do give you a glimpse of what the tail looked like, but if you don’t have an entire tail, or the part of the backbone that the tail attaches to, I’d be reticent to make a definitive statement about tail mobility.” But, he says, this study fills in gaps for a period that’s lacking in samples and offers a glimpse into the dromeosaurs of the time.
David Evans echoed that point. “More complete fossils and comparative functional analyses are needed to demonstrate whether Dineobellator was a particularly strong or adept predator. Dineobellator shows us more skeletons are out there, waiting to be found,” he says.
Evans agrees with the study authors that the fossils in hand demonstrate that close relatives of Velociraptor were diversifying during the last days of the Age of the Dinosaurs. “Importantly, it shows that the raptors in the southern part of western North America were distinct from those in the north, and suggests these differences may have been driven by different local ecosystem conditions.”

(Steven Jasinski)
Other excavations have given scientists a reasonably good idea of the menagerie of animals that shared Dineobellator’s ecosystem, an open floodplain habitat in modern-day New Mexico that was growing increasingly distant from the receding shoreline of the Western Interior Seaway.
Ojoceratops, a horned beast very much like Triceratops, was fairly common as was long-necked sauropod Alamosaurus. “We have evidence of a small tyrannosaurid, something like T. rex but considerably smaller,” Jasinski says. “There are duck-billed dinosaurs, hadrosaurids, that are relatively common, there are lots of turtles, crocodilians have been common all over the place, and evidence of early birds there as well that would have been living with this thing.”
As for how Dineobellator and its kin fit in, Turner says that’s a matter of speculation. “Just size-wise, your average North American or Asian dromeosaur might be along the lines of foxes or coyotes,” he notes, adding that like those mammals, Dineobellator might have existed in substantial numbers as a kind of ubiquitous predator. “That sort of general predatory niche is probably where a lot of these dromeosaurs were falling out.”
While the individual Dineobellator in the study appears to have met a violent end it seems likely that it and its relatives also enjoyed their share of success. “They have sharp teeth and nasty claws on their feet,” Turner notes. “They aren’t these big intimidating things, but I still wouldn’t want to have a run-in with one.”

Sabre’s tribe is primarily comprised of apex dinosaur faunus. A large portion of them are Tyrannosaurs and Carnotaurs, but several other species make their homes there, including Deinonychus and Allosaurus faunus. Sabre’s family is almost entirely Tyrannosaur faunus, with the exception of his mother.
Brenyn Grimlock is Sabre’s father, and the leader of the apex tribe. He is a Tyrannosaurus faunus descended from a long line of powerful Tyrannosaurs, and it was expected he would marry another Tyranno faunus to continue the purity of the line. It was a point of contention in his leadership when he married Kamaria, as many thought him to be muddying the bloodline and reducing the Tyrannosaur name, but this ended long before Sabre was born. His faunus trait is ridged scales running from the tip of his nose up and over his head to the small of his back; they are grey-green in colour and rough to the touch.
Kamaria Grimlock, known prior to her marriage as Kamaria Umber, is the chieftess of the apex tribe and a Carnotaurus faunus. She does not wield any true power in the running of the tribe beyond the weight of her name and marriage; her title is more for show and ceremony than aught. During the contention, she fought back against the dissenters with word and action, slowly winning the hearts of the people. Her faunus trait is a circle of red-brown horns on the top of her head, with the largest extending from her temples.
Donnchadh Grimlock is Sabre’s older brother, and the heir apparent to the apex tribe. He is referred to by the entire family as Donn, with Donnchadh being the name those in the tribe use to convey respect to him. His faunus trait is exclusively scales, with them trailing down his neck, shoulders, and arms. They are primarily grey-green in colour, like Dann’s, with flecks of red from Kamaria in them. Donn is a no-nonsense heir, highly aware of his duty and determined to never waver from it. Sabre’s laidback attitude and proclivity for nonchalance irritates him like no other, and Donn can often be found berating Sabre for his laidback nature when Sabre returns.
Rhydderch Grimlock is Sabre’s youngest brother, only twenty years of age. Born Rhiannon, Rhydderch knew he was transgender by the age of ten. He began transitioning at 12, just before puberty, and had top surgery at 15. At 19, he underwent his phalloplasty in the form of a radial forearm free-flap phalloplasty, taking the skin entirely from his forearm. His immediate family was accepting and supportive of his transition, with Sabre citing his excitement at finally having a brother who “isn’t a massive ass”. Rhydderch’s trait is a large scaled tail, around 1.75m in length extending from the small of his back and following his mother’s colouring of red-brown scales.
Other notable members of Sabre’s family include:
- Idwal, a Triceratops faunus whose trait is a green-scaled, hard horned crest growing from the crown of his head, and serves as Dann’s right hand and advisor. He is the sole herbivorous dinosaur faunus allowed in the apex lands.
- Meurric, the eldest of his maternal uncles. He is a red-haired Carnotaurus faunus whose trait, red-brown scaled ridges over his eyes, give him a consistently warped and angry expression. He is mostly calm and stoic, however, though easily angered and makes no attempt to hide his disdain for Sabre’s behaviour and distinct preference for Donn.
- Urien, the younger of his maternal uncles. Urien is the more relaxed of he and Meurric, and fiercely defensive of his sister. His temper during the contention of his sister’s marriage almost provoked the dissention into violence, although he has since and continues to make amends for his behaviour, especially now he himself is married. He is a Carnotaurus faunus with a claw trait similar to Ghira’s. His claws are brown-marbled bone in colour, however.
- Cadfan, his paternal uncle. Cadfan is the most like Sabre in terms of personality and disposition. He is laid back to the extreme, with very little phasing or bothering him. A running joke in the family is that he ought to have been a bear faunus, or something similarly lazy, instead of a Tyrannosaur. His trait is the most prominent of the family; his toes are not the five of humans, but the three of the Tyrannosaur, each with its own massive talon.

Okay, so recently it has been brought to my attention that some people get confused with the characters and OC’s in pushing each other to the limits, since there are so many of them. I wasn’t aware of this being an issue, nevertheless I’m glad anon pointed it out, this way I can create a character log and keep y’all updated with the new arrivals and so on!
I’ll start listing under the cut. ^w^
First off,  Ryōmen Utsukushi-sa. She is the first OC to appear and does so halfway through chapter one. She has pastel pink eyes, white and pink hair that resembles that of a fairy, hollow bones and a pair of big feather-covered wings that, when fully developed, will grant her the ability to fly. She has a sweet tooth and publicly humiliated Midoriya because Katsuki shoved Nakisakebu, a friend of hers. Her name means two-sided beauty, referring to her backstabbing yet charming personality. She has yet to come back.
Nakisakebu makes a brief appearance as well, although she isn’t that important. She gets shoved by Bakugou at lunch and then plots a way to get back at him by humiliating Izuku. Her name means weep.
On that same chapter, Shinrai Dekinai makes an appearance. He looks pretty much like a human bumblebee, with clear wings, dark, wide eyes and a pair of antennas on top of his head. He is quite fluent in English and turned his back on Izuku upon learning that the latter was quirkless as he doesn’t appreciate people lying or hiding this from him. His name is supposed to mean something along the lines of “this can’t go well.” Foreshadowing? Maybe.
Chapter two greets us with the presence of Kiru Tsume, better known as Shitty Tygra Knockoff. He doesn’t really stand out, just a common boy with the appearance of a tiger and sliced pupils. His quirk makes him part Tiger and allows him several feline-like abilities. His name is just a word play on the word “kitsune” which means fox in Japanese.
Matsuoka Akiko makes her first appearance on that same chapter. She is a young woman with pale skin, grey eyes and long ebony black hair, often referred to as a yokai because of her scary appearance. She co-owns La Parroquia de Veracruz and is a happy woman with a bubbly personality. Her name means bright, in reference to her happy personality. Her quirk, Whim, allows her to know what people want/need and tell them apart. As a child she was bullied and holds grim memories of her teenage years and school, reason why she decided to drop out of uni, quit out of her job as a waitress and help her internet best friend start his business.
Mateo Flores is a mexican boy with pastel pink skin and slightly darker pink hair. His eyes are a deep violet and he has a pair of flashy fangs that can rarely be seen since he is shy and doesn’t tend to smile as much as Akiko. He is the original owner of La Parroquia de Veracruz and his quirk, Flavour, grants him the ability to make literally anything taste like glory. His name means decisive. He settled down in Japan just after graduating high school and opened a café, hiring his ibf Akiko as a waitress and also business partner.
Takane Hikari worked as a receptionist the first time she appeared in the story, back in chapter two. She currently works as an intern for a big Support Company and resides in Hosu. Her hair is cyan, short, curly and her eyes are an icy blue. Her quirk, Splatter, although quite useless makes up for a good party trick as she can eject paint from her body. Her name means light.
Kirishima Iwao is a buff, tall man with dark skin and even darker hair. His eyes are a light shade of blue and his quirk, Rock, gives him a thick skin. However, can unharden his skin and make himself soft for a couple of minutes. He works as a trainer in a local gym. Because I’m an uncreative little shit his name literally means rock.
Kirishima Mio is a petite woman with dark hair and sharp, shark-like teeth. She has scarlet red eyes and works as a detective in a nearby precinct. Her name can either be interpreted as beautiful or saint.
Now let’s skip to chapter three. The first to make an appearance here is Bakugou Tsuki. She has white short hair and red eyes that match with a beautiful tanned skin. Her quirk, Ember, lets her set random things on fire and then manipulate the embers. She loves to tease her grandsons and is a single mother. Her name means to thrust.
Yasu Nagisa is Inko’s mother. She is a kind yet untrusting, strict woman with green hair, orange eyes and teal skin. Her quirk, Levitate, allows her to make things fly with a simple glance. Her name means shore.
Yasu Ryuu is Inko’s father. He has blonde curls, blue eyes, and prominent freckles. Unlike his wife, he is a happy-go-lucky kinda guy with a quirk deemed best suited for villany by most people. Appearing allows him to have any object appear on his hands by just knowing what it looks like and its location. His name means dragon.
Chapter four presents us a brand new set of OC’s. First off, there’s Hazuki Kisumi, a boy with dark hair, blue skin and navy blue eyes. He has gills on either side of his neck and fins on both his calves and forearms. His name means mist, like the vague mist that can be seen on the shores at sunrise. His quirk, Introduction, allows him to know how a person would like to be approached. He is quite shy and has a slippery tongue.
Then we have Yamazaki Hiroko, a woman that looks like a triceratops all the way from head to toe. She has broad shoulders and three horns atop her head. Her skin is dark and covered in golden scales, along with her muscled tail. She has dark cocoa hair and partially heterochromatic eyes that go from amber yellow to emerald green, although her prettiest feature are her pair of glassy red lips. She has a flirty personality and likes to joke around. Her name means tolerant and her quirk, Mixing, allows her to mix about anything and everything and make it right. Is she a bartender? Mad scientist? Only time will tell.
Shiozaki Fuji is a short woman with vines for hair and a characteristic stoic face expression. She works as a receptionist in NIK and her quirk grows flowers from her hair. Her name means mountain and she is related to Shiozaki Ibara, student from class 1-B.
Daichi Yuu is an old man with a quirk that allows him to literally blend in with his surroundings. He is the principal at NIK, a responsible adult with a successful career in quirk analysis and quite a lively character. His name means intellect.
From there we skip all the way over to chapter six, where Ai Chiasa makes her first appearance. She is Shouto’s personal chauffeur and her quirk, Teletransporting, is self-explanatory. She has purple skin and peach coloured hair that match with a calm personality. She enjoys pop culture way too much and loves the Todoroki like if they were her own children. Her name means a thousand mornings.
From the recommended exam we have Fudo Daiki, local pervert and wielder of Nightcrawling, a quirk that allows him to use dark areas to teletransport from one place to another. He has neon bright hair and a sly smile and his name means brightness, a contrast to how his quirk works. We also have Shinju Nyoko whose name means gem treasure. She is a bubbly girl with dark skin and an afro. Her quirk, Space, allows her to bend constellations, stars and such at will.
Last but not least, chapter seven brings what I believe to be the last OC’s from this batch. For starters we have Nakamura Harumi, whose name means springtime beauty. She has medium-short, long cocoa hair that match with a pair of brown eyes and grey skin. She is smart yet shy, has a weird liking for the sun and is very trusting of others. Her quirk, Host, makes her the best at organizing events and such.
Then we get introduced to Interi Hiro, a boy with white hair and pastel purple eyes. He is related to Interi Saiko, a girl from the anime-only filler Provisional License Exam episode in season three. He is a carefree guy, although he can be a little bit bitchy when out of soda since that means he can’t use his quirk, I. Q., properly. His name means abundant.
Ryoko Seina is a girl with dark skin, orange hair and bright red eyes. She is a nice person, although prone to get anxious easily. Her quirk, Moonlight, makes her extra productive at night time and she can also expand her limbs thanks to her father’s genes. Her name means innocent and she is a sweet person.
Natalya Ivanova is an elder Russian lady and the homeroom teacher for Class 101 in NIK. She is a strict teacher and likes to make fun of her students, all in good-hearted nature.
Ito Miya is the second highest ranked student in NIK. She has purple skin, pastel pink hair that’s shaved in one side and curly on the other, a scar along her right cheek, freckles and a pair of brown eyes that get hidden underneath black frames that she doesn’t really need. She has three piercings on her left ear to match Kaoru’s and a pair of demonic purple wings that flutter each time she gets excited. Her quirk, Spotlight, allows her switch the attention from herself at will. Her name means wings.
Finally, we have Watanabe Kaoru. He has tanned skin and ash brown hair along with a cute lil’ mole on the upper right part of his lips. His eyes are a vibrant green deep enough to rival Izuku’s and he has a set of three piercings on his right ear. He needs glasses and so he wears a pair of thick-rimmed frames at all times, his name means fragrance. His quirk, Handsome, allows him to morph into what people find physically appealing as long as he meets the requirements (i. e. he can’t grow boobs to appeal people who are into that). He also has a driver’s license and is a long-time friend of Miya.
And I think that’s it! Here you can find a couple of visuals I created, just in case things are a bit unclear. You can also message me and I’ll answer your doubts to the best of my ability! <3

65 million years in the making.
A/N: Second fic of the '90's marathon' week! I think this one is pretty self explanitory 😉
Tumblr media
"I think we have hit the jackpot with his fossil!" You ecstatically squeaked as you carefully brushed away dust and dirt from a dinosaur skeleton.
Even though you couldn't see him, you felt Greg crouch next to you "I can't believe how intact it is. This is probably the best excavation I've ever been on." Greg stood back up and stretched out his legs, he helped you up too.
"I'm going to check how good the new tech is at scanning for bones," you smiled and walked off, Greg couldn't help but stare as you sauntered away.
He let out a long sigh but it was cut short when his face scrunched with confusion when he heard helicopter blades cut through the air. "Cover up the site!" He yelled and everyone frantically covered up the exposed bones. Greg was getting covered in dust as he approached the helicopter, telling the pilot to move but the pilot pointed in the direction of the camper.
Greg stormed towards it and burst open the door finding someone in the fridge "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" The man turned around and popped a bottle of champagne "We were saving that!"
"For today!" The man with white hair and a white, wiry beard smiled.
"Who the hell do you think you are?!" Greg angrily pointed at him.
"John Hammond and I'm finally delighted to meet you in person Doctor Lestrade!" Hammond shook Greg's finger and blew the excess duct on his hands away. He walked to the sink to find some glasses, leaving Greg in a shocked state. "I see my fifty thousand a year has been well spent!"
"Okay who's the idiot?!" You stormed into the camper, ready to unleash your wrath.
"Uh this is paleobotanist Doctor Y/L/N," Greg introduced you "Y/N, this is Mr Hammond..." Greg glared at you and you gulped, realising you had just insulted your biggest donor.
"I...uh...did say idiot?" You nervously chuckled and shook his hand. He offered you a drink and explained why he was at the site. He told you both that he had built a park, that he needed you and Greg to endorse the park to get the approval to open it. "Why would they need our opinions?" You asked with an unsure smile.
"Yeah," Greg added "What kind of park is this?"
"I assure you," Hammond smiled "It's right up your alley! Why don't you both come down at the weekend?" You and Greg opened your mouth to argue against going. You had just uncovered an excellent fossil and the timing was very awkward "I'd compensate your dig..." Hammond proposed "For another three years."
You looked up to Greg, both clinking your glasses together before he wrapped his arms around you and spun you on the spot, both of you screeching with happiness.
---
A few days later you found yourself being squished into a helicopter with Greg and Hammond and a few others. Hammond's lawyer and another doctor who happily introduced himself to you with a smouldering smile. "Ian Malcom, I'm a chaos theorist, mainly finding attraction in things but I'm sure you'd know all about attraction, right? Miss..."
You shook his head with a smirk, not letting him phase you with his flirtatiousness "Doctor Y/N Y/L/N." He raised a brow, impressed by your quick wit. He sat back and made himself comfortable just as the helicopter approached the island. It dipped a little and you gripped onto Greg's arm, forgetting to pull away even after the helicopter landed "Sorry..." you uttered with an apologetic smile noticing the red mark on Greg's arm.
"It's fine," he nervously smiled. The two of you, along with doctor Malcom, made your way to the car while Hammond and his lawyer followed in the car behind.
You drove passed a plant and gasped, quickly stretching your arm out to pull off a leaf "Greg...this..." you placed your free hand on your head "This plant sh-shouldn't be here! It hasn't been around since the cretaceous period!"
Out of the corner of his eye get spotted something moving. He turned his head slightly and his jaw dropped, he shakily took off his glasses and stood up. He couldn't hear a word you were saying. Greg tapped on your head "Wha-" he turned your head with his hand and you mirrored his facial expression. "O-oh my god..." the sight before you took your breath away.
A dinosaur.
At first you and Greg thought you were dreaming. You stumbled out the car and walked closer to the Brachiosaurus. Hammond approached the both of you with a proud smile. In the distance Greg spotted a heard of two other species in the distance and fell to the grass, completely taken aback "H-how did you do this?" Greg whispered.
Hammond replied "I'll show you."
---
You sat through a show explaining how Hammond created the dinosaurs, you caught a glimpse into the lab but you wanted to see more. You, Greg and Ian pushed up the bars on the seat and escaped the little informative ride and headed to the lab.
You gasped "Look!" You pointed over to a egg that was moving. It began to hatch "Is that...a velociraptor?" You raised a brow and noticed the uneasy look Greg was giving you before being handed the minute old dinosaur.
"Yes," Hammond nodded "We have many species in the park. Their life starts here if the lab, we have an embryo cold store just over there." He pointed over to the locked lab "Our scientists then fertilise the eggs, eventually creating life."
"It must be difficult when they get out in the wild," Ian spoke up "You have no control over their breeding."
"What do you mean?" A scientist, Dr Henry Wu, spoke up.
"Well surely they...yanno...procreate..." he made a vague gesture with his hands.
"They can't, all the dinosaurs are female. We've engineered them that way. We deny the chromosome at a certain stage of development that would produce male dinosaurs." Dr Henry explained.
You looked away from the dinosaur for a moment "You deny them?"
Ian couldn't help but smirk as he shook his head "Surely they find away around this. If life has taught us anything it's that life cannot be contained. Life always goes on."
Dr Henry smirked "Are you implying that a group of all female dinosaurs will reproduce?"
Ian shrugged "No, what I'm saying is life uh...finds a way."
You pondered over his words while having lunch, you wondered if this park was a good idea and Greg knew what you were thinking. He could tell by the look on your face. This park was simultaneously ahead of its time and out of time.
When Hammond's grandchildren, Timmy and Lex, arrived, you all went on a tour around the park. Greg was being pestered by them both. Timmy especially kept asking Greg a question one after the other, not giving him a chance to answer which made you laugh. You shared a car with Greg and Ian, you were in the front and the two boys were in the back.
The cars were driverless and they took you through a set of huge gates "What have they got in here?" Ian snorted "King Kong?"
You smirked and shook your head just as you arrived at the first paddock but you couldn't see any of the dinosaurs. You knew Greg was more disappointed than you, he was desperate to see one. You then approached the T. Rex paddock but again, saw nothing. They even attempted to lure it closer with a goat. Greg sighed "It doesn't want fed it wants to hunt!" He flopped his hands before placing them on the top of your seat with a small thud.
You sent him a small smile and placed your hand on top of his for a moment before pulling away with your heart pounding in your chest, like it had been revived by the spark you felt when his skin came into contact with yours. You looked back out the window before Ian opened his mouth "God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs." His brows furrowed with every word.
You smirked "Dinosaur eats man. Women inherits the earth."
The two men looked at you before glancing one another. The tour eventually continued and Ian...enlightened...you about what he actually did. "Show me that glass of water, I'm gonna do a little experiment with you right now." He took your hand and dipped his finger in the water before placing the drop of water on the tip of his finger on your hand.
He wiped away the drop of water after it trickled down your hand and forearm and an did the same thing again. Before he did, he asked you this time what way it would go, you told him to the left of you hand, the same way as before but it didn't. He then went on to explain about different variations in your hand and unpredictability. He mentioned the word 'unpredictable' just as Greg jumped out the car.
"Greg?" You jumped out after him and everyone followed suit. When you followed him to where he was going, you couldn't believe your eyes. A Triceratops.
Tears blurred your vision and you let a small sob of a laugh, completely and utterly overwhelmed by the animal. You kneeled down and placed your hand on it, tracing your fingers over its rough skin. Greg was in awe, he couldn't help but rest himself in the animal and listen to its heartbeat.
"What's the matter with it?" You asked the doctor who was on sight with the dinosaur.
"We aren't quite sure, that's what we are trying to establish."
Your eyes softened as you stroked its face, completely unfazed by the loud rumbles of thunder you had just heard. "I think we should get back to the car..." Hammond's lawyer announced and looked up.
"You guys go ahead," you looked up to everyone "I'm going to stay here for a little bit."
"You sure? Greg asked, staying put while everyone walked off.
"Yeah," you nodded and stood up "I'll catch up with you later." You placed a hand on his chest "Enjoy the rest of the tour, and don't get eaten!" You joked.
"The same thing applies to you!" Greg laughed died down as he gazed into your eyes "I'll see you later." You watched as he walked off and went back into the car just as the sky began to darken, momentarily lighting up from a flash of lightning.
---
When you had arrived back at the visitor centre your worst fears had set in "What's going on? What's happening?" You burst into the control room.
"We've lost all communications with them because of the storm!" Hammond explained. You walked up to the computers and saw the flashing warning signs. All the power was cut off. "The last known location of them was at the Tyrannosaurus paddock." You swallowed thickly, your heart felt like it was going to burst, break and shrivel up all at the same time. "My grandchildren, you have to get them!" Hammond pleaded with his expert wrangler, Robert Muldoon.
He nodded and grabbed his hat "I'm going with him!" You announced and didn't wait for protesting voices, grabbing a jacket on the way to the car. You couldn't shake the horrendous feeling in the pit of your stomach. What if Greg was dead? What if he was killed and you didn't have the chance to tell him how you really felt? You shook away those thoughts and fears. You couldn't think like that. You had to stay positive. Although that was becoming increasingly harder to do as you approached the T. Rex paddock and noticed all the wires keeping the thing in were gone.
You looked around for any sign of Greg but there was nothing. Under some leaves you heard a groan and found a badly hurt Ian. "Ian? Ian!" You tapped his face.
"Remind me to thank Hammond for a lovely weekend..." he sarcastically retorted. You rolled your eyes, knowing he was sure to be back to his normal self in no time.
"Is here any chance we can move him?" You asked Robert.
In the distance you heard the spine chilling roar of the T.Rex and suddenly Ian sat up "There's a chance." You and Robert supported either side of him and took him to the car, placing in in the back of the open jeep before you jogged a few yards to look for Greg again, there was every chance he could be in the same situation as you found Ian in. You heard the same roar, it sounded closer than before. "Y/N, we have got to go!" Robert called you back. You let out a small, disappointed gruff before noticing the other car.
You hurried towards it and called out Greg's name but there was no sign of him or Hammond's grandchildren. You moved your flashlight around and noticed three sets of footprints. They were alive. You let out a massive sigh of relief and your whole body eased for a moment before tensing when you heard your name being shrieked. You ran back to the car and rejoined Ian and Robert, you were just in it when out of the trees emerged the T. Rex.
You turned around, which was a stupid move on your part, you wished you hadn't, and screamed. "Shit! Go faster!" You slapped Roberts arm "Go faster!"
Ian fell back on you as the dinosaur nudged the jeep with its head, both of you screaming just as loud as the roar coming from the T. Rex. Eventually it slowed and Robert managed to dive off with everyone still in one piece. When you got back to the visitor centre you gave Ian a shot of morphine to ease his pain "The last I saw Greg and the kids were okay, he never stopped talking about you when you stayed behind with that Triceratops yanno."
You sent him a thin smile before raising his leg slightly and leaving him to rest. You joined Hammond in the dining area where he was surrounded with ice cream. "They were all melting," he weakly chuckled before letting out a sigh "This has been a disaster." You agreed with him, the park was amazing at first but now it was nothing short of a nightmare. "I just wanted to give everyone a real experience, no illusions. I wanted to do something that had never been attempted before."
"Isn't this just an illusion? It was just a wild dream!" You unintentionally snapped "People have died. You cannot attempt to bring back the past!"
Hammond huffed "And now I'm paying the price."
You grabbed a spoon and had a mouthful of ice cream as you thought of Greg "We both are."
---
Greg climbed over fallen tree trunks and helped Timmy and Lex over the ones that were a little too high for them. That was when he spotted eggs. "Malcom was right," Greg tiredly rubbed his face "Some species of frog can change sex in environments where there are overwhelming amount of creatures of the same sex. They used frog DNA to complete the gene code. Life found a way."
Greg and the two kids then delved deeper into the forest, trying to find their way back to the compound.
---
Mr Arnold, a technician at the park who was trapped with you and the others, shut down all the systems and tried turning them back on again. The computers had rebooted but everything else, including all the lights, were still off.
"I'll go over to the maintenance shed and turn it on manually from there. That should reset the circuit breaker. I can have the power on in three minutes." Mr Arnold spoke up.
"Well until you get back, I suggest we all go into the emergency bunker. Just to be safe." Hammond lead you all off while Mr Arnold when in the opposite direction, outside.
Twenty minutes later, you were still waiting "Something's wrong..."
"Y/N's right," Ian spoke up from where he was resting on the table.
Hammond scoffed "Delays happen! Did you know the opening of Disneyland was delayed? Everything broke down!"
"Yeah but when the Pirates of the Caribbean ride breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists!" Ian snapped before wincing from the pain in his leg.
You were pacing about "I-I have to do something. I have to go over. I can't take it anymore!"
"It's not just a nice stroll down the road," Robert warned before getting a gun and loading it "I'm going with you."
You grabbed a walkie-talkie, one for you and one for Hammond who was looking over the blueprints "This isn't going to be like turning on your lights in the house but I think I can walk you through it." You sent him a nervous smile "It should really be me that's going."
"Why?" You asked with a furrowed eyebrow.
"Well I'm a...and you're a...." he trailed off.
You rolled your eyes, unimpressed "Look, we can discuss sexism in survival situations when I get back." You glared at him before leaving with Robert. When you got outside, you felt incredibly uneasy, like there was something constantly watching you. Approaching the bushes, you climbed over trees and let out a small breath of relief seeing the shed up ahead. "We can make it if we run..." you told Robert who was frozen on the spot.
"We can't," he whispered, you asked him why "Because we're being hunted..." your whole body tensed and you looked about, it felt like everything in the trees and bushes was moving. "You run towards he shed. I've got her. Go! Now!" You ran as fast as your legs could take you, jumping over logs and swinging over them until you reached the shed and slammed the door shut. You tried to catch your breath as you put on your torch.
"Okay," you spoke to Hammond and Ian "I'm in." They led you through to the main power box and you switched on all the buttons. One by one, the lights came on "I think we're back in busi-ahhhhhh!" Your scream burst from your chest seeing a velociraptor come through the wires. You ran out and closed the cage door behind you but the raptor lunged towards you and nocked you down. You were quick to act and used your feet to shut over the door, the raptors roar mixing with your scream. You couldn't even hear Ian and Hammond shouting, asking what was happening. You stumbled back towards the wall and screamed again feeling something heavy on your shoulder, glancing down you noticed it was Mr Arnold. Letting out a sigh of relief you taped his hand...before it and his arm fell on you. Letting out a strained scream you pushed away the body part and ran out of the shed, crashing your back against the door and tiredly sobbing against the door. You knew you could hang about and hurried back to the complex.
As you stumbled up the small hill you heard your name being called out. Your eyes squeezed shut, wondering if it was just a dream.
It wasn't.
You spotted his hat first and then almost burst into tears seeing him standing in front of you and apart from a few cuts and bruises, he seemed okay. "Y/N!" Greg's whole face lit up with a smile. You ran towards him, he held his arms out to hug you but you had other ideas and took him completely by surprise when you crashed your lips against his. It was quick, you didn't really have the time. "Let's continue that later," Greg smirked before it fell hearing the call of the raptors.
He grabbed your hand and took you back into the compound where you got Lex and Timmy. You were about to run outside but we're cornered by four raptors. Your hand found Greg's and held it tightly, Greg could feel your heart racing under your skin. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the T. Rex burst though the brick wall. The raptors who were now distracted by the larger dinosaur, meant you had the chance to run for it. The four of you raced to the car Hammond was driving with Ian in the back. Hammond had called in for a helicopter which was waiting in the same area it dropped you off. When you were up in the air, you could finally calm down and breathe. "Perhaps instead of a wild weekend, you two should take a romantic one..." Ian teased and glanced between both you and Greg "Although, after spending the last few days with Y/N, I think you'd be in for a wild weekend anyway Greg!" You nudged his side causing the chaos theorist to flinch. Greg rolled his eyes with a smirk at the comment.
"Got to admit Y/N," Greg spoke up, being careful not to wake a sleeping Lex and Timmy "I thought I would turn into a fossil first before that happened back there."
Ian sat up a little straighter "What? What happened? What did I miss?!"
You smirked and leaned over slightly to Greg, cupping the back of his neck and passionately kissing him for a few seconds before turning to Ian who was gaping.
"That..." you proudly smiled "Even if it did feel like it took 65 million years to finally happen."

I’ll Never Leave You Again
Request: Hey do you think if you haven’t already, write a fic where the reader gets into a very heated fight with Owen. Like maybe they got in trouble at work, and he’s always overprotective of them and just doesn’t want to see them hurt, and they can “take care of themselves.” So Owen says something that he regrets, and he leaves for a couple days. Where he comes back. Something along those lines if that makes any sense? You can definitely shift things up, and add any other things in as well.

We go through our lives always wondering if we’ll be happy, if we’re making the right decisions, or if we really matter to anybody or anything at all. You had things figured out for the most par. Happy? Yeah, as happy as happy gets. Right decisions? Sure, if taking care of dinosaurs and swatting at mosquitoes everyday was a good one. Did you matter to anybody? To your friends, your coworkers. To that goddamn Owen Grady, and if you were trying to be sentimental, to the dinos you looked after, even the raptors. Did you matter to the universe? No, nobody really does. But bringing dinosaurs back from extinction- that did. And you helped with that.
The island was humid and misty. Your eyes kept watering from the threat of a storm in the air and your clothes stuck to your sweaty skin. It was a slow day compared to the middle of the summer. Vacation days were winding down, visitors were many but yet still few. Screaming little kids were already strapped in on their planes and on their way home to suburbia.
The walkie-talkie strapped to your khaki shorts vibrated and gurgled. You reached down for it and kept your eyes glued to the throngs of tourists grazing through the streets.
“Come in, Y/N. We’ve got an irritated triceratops down here, scaring some of the guests. We think she’s getting sick. Might wanna come check it out.”
You laughed to yourself as a little kid jumped and pointed at the giant science building at the end of the road.
“On it, I’ll be there in ten,” you said, clicking the walkie back into its place.
The island itself was large, but the area really used by the park was small. The ride would have been quicker had you not had to fight for space on the main roads.
When you arrived, the guests had been lead away, and there were two other people there. One them was your friend- he worked mainly with the babies, and they probably called him since he cared for her when she was young and wanted to try bringing in a comforting face. The other was a usual ranger, somebody the rest of the staff would consider a passing-by face. He smiled a handsome crooked smile and waved as you approached.
“What’s going on?” You asked, your hands finding a spot on your hips. You squinted against the heat and the humidity.
“She’s been acting up lately. Go bad today, she tried attacking one of the spheres. Of course, the people inside were fine, just afraid.”
“Could be natural behavior for an animal,” you said.
“Or she could be sick,” your friend shrugged with a sigh. “Wants to be left alone.”
“Then I guess I’ll have to take a look,” you said, rolling up your sleeves so they rested just above your forearms.
You slid through the gate into her enclosure, the other two men trailing behind you. She was big now. She rested on the ground in the shade, her breathing hard and heavy. Foam bubbled at the corners of her mouth, her pointed snout dug into the cool dirt.
“Hey, girl,” you whispered, kneeling beside her.
She let out a weak groan which turned into a muted roar. She huffed, the air leaving her nose like wisps of smoke.
You frowned, reaching out to rub her head. She flinched away at first, but gradually the trust she held a few days ago at her last check-up returned.
“She might have a little passing bug,” you said, “if she has it, chances are its going around between all of them. We’ll wanna check them all.”
You turned your head away from her and squinted back at the guys, their hands in their pockets. Your friend frowned and began to make his way over.
“Hey, baby girl,” he said as he neared, “you’re not feeling well?”
She cried out again and began to throw herself up to her feet.
“Woah, woah there,” you said, standing up slowly and holding your hands out, “it’s alright, nobody gonna hurt you.”
She stomped her front foot into the dirt, a cloud of dry dust rising around her. She snarled and huffed, the air from her nose warm and wet. You held up your hands still.
“Shh, shh,” you tried, “it’s alright.”
Your friend held up his hands and reached one out for her, his lips parted and head tilted back uncertainly.
“Hey, just leave her for now. It’ll just-”
In all happened within a second. He inched forward another step and the dino grunted and reared back her head, horns shining under the yellow sun. He dove to the right to escape her path and rolled down over a small hill.
You back up towards the other guy, your feet moving quickly and steadily away from the upset triceratops.
She huffed again and rubbed her foot in the dirt like a bull. She bowed her head and grunted, almost howled, in your direction.
“Go,” you said to the man, “go help him.”
He moved slowly and carefully towards the trainer, lying there clutching his wrist and panting. You held your hands up and breathed slowly, cautiously.
“It’s okay,” you whispered.
She reared up again and charged. You waited as long as you could and then leapt in the other direction, towards the two men limping for the exit. At first it was fine and you scrambled to your feet, unaware of the damage.
As you tried to straighten yourself out, a stabbing pain ran down through your side and across your stomach. You collapsed into the dirt. A drizzle began to fall.
“Shit!” You yelled, “fuck!”
You clutched your side in a frenzy and pulled your hand away, your fingers covered in slick red blood. Your breathing fastened and you glanced back at the dino rearing and roaring.
“Dammit! Dammit, get out!” You yelled, struggling to your feet and holding onto your side, bloody and torn. You limped quickly to them, the new guy reaching out to help you.
“Go, go!” You yelled, grabbing onto his shoulder, your weight falling against him. Black spots danced in your vision, but your tripped along, towards the door.
She began to huff again. She reared and ran towards the both of you, head down, horns at the ready.
“Go!” You screamed.
The man ran and lifted you, nearly tossing you through the door as he tripped and fell down onto the other side of the gate. Your friend hurried to your side as the door dropped from above, slamming against the ground with a shake.
“Y/N!” He yelled as you laid on your back, gnawing on your lower lip to stop the pain.
“I’m fine!” You said, “I’m fine, just call for help. I’m fine. I’m fine.”
The other man grabbed his phone and began speaking, his words rushed and panicked. Your friend pressed his hands against your would, already covered in a fresh layer of blood. More people ran in around you, having heard the screams. You let your head fall back despite your will to stay awake. But you were tired.
So you went to sleep.
When you woke up everything was fine. You were sitting up in a hospital bed, your stomach wrapped up with fresh white gauze. You looked around, mouth dry and lips chapped.
“Y/N?” Owen asked, pulling the curtain around your bed open.
You smiled, “hi, Owen.”
He sighed and hurried to you, his hands grabbed your cheeks and pulling you in for a long, sad kiss.
“I thought you were going to die,” he said.
“I’d never,” you teased, laughing. But he didn’t laugh. His hands dropped form your face.
“It was stupid, what you did. You should’ve waited for more people or even just- just-”
“Owen,” you said, “I did my job. Nobody could’ve-”
“You could’ve gotten hurt so much worse,” he said.
“From the looks of things, I can probably leave soon. What’s the big deal?”
“The big deal?” He shouted, standing up and running his fingers through his hair. He turned back to you, his face red with rage. “The big deal is that you make dumb decisions! You don’t think about me, or the people who love you! You only think about yourself! You could have died! Do you know what that means? You’re so immature and irresponsible and- and-”
Your mouth fell open and your eyes stung. You tried to shake your head, but your neck was sore, and the movement seemed impossible. You watched him. Watched his eyes, watched his face shift an his lips turn down into a frown.
“Owen, what the hell?” You asked, your voice breaking.
“I just-” he tried, sniffing and rubbing his hand across his stubble. He looked down and squeezed his eyes shut. When he looked back up, he was angry again.
“Owen, it was an accident. They happen.”
“You don’t get mauled-” he stopped himself, held his breath. You looked on at him, watched his hands clench into fists.
“Owen-”
He turned away from you and walked out. He left the curtain open. Claire was approaching with a vase of fresh flowers and stood, watching him go. She turned to you, eyebrows crooked and mouth parted. You pressed your lips together and looked up to try and force the tears back down.
But it didn’t work. You cried.
A few days later and you were home sitting on your couch watching Friends but not really paying attention. Your face was sore from crying.
Could he have been right? Should you have waited? Should things have gone differently?
Your side still hurt, but it was stitched up well and you had plenty of medicine to dull it out. What hurt the most was the memory of Owen standing there, so upset, so angry. Medicine couldn’t numb that pain. You knew that fact well.
Your cellphone buzzed but you left it where it was, focusing emptily on the screen in front of you. Your legs were covered in a soft blanket and an empty carton of ice cream was strewn out on the other side of the couch.
The doorknob turned and pulled. Probably claire checking in on you again. She had brought you home the first day. She brought you dinner, then breakfast, then lunch. Then just dinner. She had called and texted you over and over again to see how you were feeling. Asking when you wanted to jump back into work.
You grabbed for a tissue and wiped away some stray tears that had fallen without you realizing. The door closed softly.
“Claire, I’m not hungry. You don’t have to keep taking care of me. I can take care of myself.”
“Like you did last week?” Owen asked, his voice gentle.
You turned to him, the blanket slipping from your legs with the motion. “Owen?”
He looked down and shrugged. “Y/N, I...”
You shrunk in on yourself, tears bubbling up at your eyes.
“I didn’t mean any of that. I didn’t.”
Your lower lip began to quiver and a tear dropped down and skipped along your cheek. You looked up at him, and he looked down at you.
“Y/N,” he said, walking over, “I don’t want to leave you. I don’t-”
You ducked your head, your shoulders bouncing as you cried. He made his way around to you and sat on the couch.
“I’m here now. I won’t leave you again. I was dumb and stupid and cruel and wrong.”
You fell over into his chest crying. He wrapped his arms around either side of you and pulled you close, into his warmth. You could hear his heart racing under his skin. You closed your fingers around his shirt and held onto him, crying in pain because of your wound and because of the hurt in your head from the last few days. He pulled you in closer and leaned backwards, bringing you on top of him.
“I’ll never leave again,” he said into your ear, pressing his face down into the crook of your neck. “I’ll never leave you again.”

Title: Jurassic Park (Stark! Reader x Peter Parker)
Summary: Tony is invited to tour the world renowned Jurassic Park before its opening and begrudgingly brings you alone, even if he feels that something is off about the whole place.
Word Count: 2422
A/N: HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13th!!!! I LOVE THIS!! I’m reading Jurassic Park and am just having so much insp right now. I hope you enjoy!
--
“Thank you all for coming, really,” you and Peter were hardly paying attention as you got pushed to the back of the tour group, your eyes wide as you took everything in, “We’ll get you set up in your very own GyroSphere for a tour. Welcome to Jurassic Park!” your guide, who you remembered was called Mr. Grant, led the way through the maze of labs and stretching hallways, past a nursery for pterodactyls and a greenhouse for growing plants. There was even an incubator room for dinosaur eggs.
Your father had been invited along with the rest of the Avengers to tour and enjoy the park before anyone else and thankfully he let you accompany him. Tony had to keep his skepticism about the place under wraps when he was around you though, for you were like a kid on Christmas morning, “Thank you,” you beamed at Mr. Grant as you slid into a ride vehicle, a giant glass dome that seemed to levitate above the ground, “Can you believe this, Peter? We’re in a giant park dedicated to the Jurassic period!”
Peter nodded excitedly as your car’s restraints and safety locks were checked once more, “I know, I know!” he stole a glance your way while you looked around and took it all in. You smiled at him once you felt his eyes on you, Peter immediately averting his eyes as you laughed.
“Keep your eyes peeled please, I don’t need either of you getting swept away by an ancient monster,” Tony yelled over his shoulder at you before unbuttoning his suit jacket and diving into the sphere ahead of you. Teenagers.
You rolled your eyes from your spot next to Peter and gave him a thumbs up, “I assure you that these spheres are incredibly safe, Mr. Stark. We have advanced invisible forcefield technology to keep the animals at a safe distance and if the sphere rolls too close, we’re there to roll it away. If need be, there’s even a control stick in the center console for manual maneuvering. You’re in good hands!” Mr. Grant smiled and gave a wave as the doors slid shut on each of your GyroSpheres and the screen in front of you lit up with the park’s red and yellow logo.
“Look, there’s a Brachiosaurus,” Peter pointed a finger out across the lush green fields of grass at a couple of greyish blue heads peeking up from the longest of the grass, their long necks standing out elegantly against the overcast sky. You smiled as the screen began to relay facts about the dinosaur in its friendly tour guide voice, “Oh, hang on. I’m getting a call from your dad?” your cheeks turned red as he accepted the FaceTime, your overprotective father’s face lighting up the smartphone screen.
A scoff escaped your lips; he was one whole ride vehicle  in front of you and he was still hovering, “Dad, everything is fine. There is a great amount of distance between us and the Dino. We are paying attention and our eyes are still peeled,” you said in monotone, relaying smart answers to the questions and comments you knew he would have for you already.
“Can you see the little map on your sphere’s touch screen? Which land are you headed for next?” his eyebrows were furrowed as Peter checked the screen in front of you, following the tiny animated car and dotted line to answer his question.
Peter raised an eyebrow, his eyes quickly scanning the screen,“It says we’re on our way to Triceratops Territory?” you laughed at the cutesy name.
“Right, okay good. Just like mine. And they don’t have any triceratops in the land yet, so it’s safe. Okay, talk to you soon,” with that, Tony clicked off without another word.
You sighed, trying your best to fill the awkward silence as the car rolled along, spinning every which way to give you a clear 360 view of the park. It was quite relaxing to ride around in an all-glass dome, even when your sphere ventured off of the beaten path for some reason, straight towards the Tyrannosaurus Rex enclosure.
You weren’t even nervous about it at first; you even felt yourself lulling to a drowsy and relaxed state. Peter smiled over at you, his brows furrowing as the sky seemed to darken from the trees looming overhead.
“Why are we in the T-Rex enclosure?” he asked, craning his neck to look around. Both of you drank in the scene, a sense of anxiety filling the sphere.
Your mouth fell open as your eyes followed the yellow tinted talons on scaly feet, all the way up to the tiny arms and giant head, “Holy shit,” you said under your breath. Unable to form any other words, you yanked on Peter’s jacket and pointed up at the dinosaur standing in front of you.
“Woah,” Peter breathed, his eyes wide with shock and fear. Both of you were awestruck, sitting right in front of one of the scariest dinosaurs in the world.
You could hear the ancient creature breathing, a large droplet of drool dripping down from its aged and decaying teeth. Everything felt like it was moving in slow motion, especially when the monster picked up its giant foot and sent your gyrosphere spiraling across the forest floor.
You let out a scream, grabbing Peter’s forearm as the two of you knocked into a tree with a loud thud, your sphere stuck upside down, “What the hell just happened?” your voice came out in a whisper as you reached a hand up to your throbbing hand, it coming away with sticky blood, “Peter, you okay?”
He groaned next to you, your phone vibrating loudly on the glass ceiling, which was now the floor, of your sphere. You reached with all of your might, just enough to click ‘accept’ on the screen, “Y/N? Where are you, why aren’t you behind us?”
“Dad, it’s the T-Rex. I know it sounds crazy but it’s true. We’re-we’re stuck. I don’t-Oh my god,” your voice was frantic as you stared straight into the beady, amber colored eye of the dinosaur, “Peter, are you okay? Peter! Dad I know you say to try your best to stay calm in difficult situations but Peter was knocked unconscious and there’s a dinosaur in front of me!”
Tony was yelling now,”I knew it. We need to contact Mr. Grant now, Steve. Turn this thing around! We’re coming, Y/N. Stay calm, stay quiet,” you nodded, tears streaming down your face, “Don’t hang up, please. I need to make sure you’re okay.”
“Jesus,” Peter rubbed his forehead when he finally came to. His whole body ached, his head, arms, legs, they all throbbed with a burning pain.  His eyes widening as he saw the human sized eyeball staring directly at the two of you. The dinosaur roared, a low grumble that shook your ride vehicle.
Peter reached for your hand and squeezed as you were lifted into the air, staring at the dinosaur that was hanging upside down, thanks to your sphere still being flipped, “What’s happening?” Tony yelled, his face as close to his phone as possible. You weren’t breathing as you waited for the inevitable to happen, your eyes squeezed tightly shut. Your whole body tensed up as the T-Rex slammed the orb onto the ground hard, sending a shockwave of pain to rattle through your body. You screamed as you were lifted into the air again, “Y/N? What happened? Steve, she dropped the phone. Something’s really wrong and I-“ Tony ended the call.
“Y/N, we have to do something. We’re gonna die,” Peter said quickly, flinching as glass flew everywhere when the dinosaur banged his giant, scaly head into your sphere. The whole back of your ride vehicle was blown out, cubes of safety glass covering the ground.
A giant claw poked through the sphere, striking you in the chest. Without your safety restraint, it would’ve pierced you like a Shish kebab and left you to die. Instead, you were left with a burning pain and a wheezing every time you took a breath.
You had to think fast. It was true, if you couldn’t get out of your sphere, you’d die, “Unbuckle your seatbelt, P. Unbuckle it!” you shouted, hearing the familiar click as you unbuckled yours.
You dove to the ground, Peter falling next to you. He draped an arm over your head as the sphere came crashing down on top of you again, glass spraying the forest floor, “Come on!” He shouted, pulling you up with him when the dinosaur was preoccupied with the GyroSphere. The two of you broke out in a sprint in an attempt to get away from the dinosaur, but once she noticed that there were two moving targets, she came after you. And she was fast.
A T-Rex can run up to speeds of twenty seven miles per hour, but only for a short period of time. Even then, the Dino’s stomps shook the earth beneath you and caused you to stumble with each step. Your window of opportunity was closing, especially when Peter yanked you back from the rocks of a cliff, dropping straight down into the icy blue water twenty feet below.
“We have to jump,” Peter said, kicking his shoes off. He tossed them into the water, watching them fly down at an outrageous speed and hit the water with a big splash. You gulped and followed suit, tossing your sneakers into the pool.
You looked behind you and saw the head of the Rex approaching fast; it was as if she had laser focus on the two of you. Peter glanced over at you and stepped up to the cliff before you yanked him back, “I can’t,” you said, taking a deep breath of the bitter cold autumn air.
“Yes you can. You’re Y/N, Stark,” Peter said, squeezing your shoulder as you tried to pull him back to the tree line, “Plus there’s a giant dinosaur chasing us. We can count to three,” you nodded at this, taking a final gulp of air before you counted. One. Two. Three.
A scream bellies out of you as you crashed into the water like a book being dropped onto a table. You felt the pain of a million belly flops along with the sharp sting of the frigid water. All you could do was kick your legs with all of your might, fighting to break the surface of the water.
“Y/N? Jesus, there you are,” Peter sighed in relief, gathering his shoes as the two of you kicked to the river bank. Your socks were sopping wet, squishing and dripping as you pulled yourself up onto the dirt while trying to catch your breath.
The two of you stared up at the T-Rex on the cliff, watching its confusion as it realized that the two of you had escaped its clutches. It roared before turning on its giant tail to leave. You and Peter had just escaped a T-Rex.
You laughed, collapsing onto the grass. You lay your head back, smiling over at Peter, “We just escaped Death by Dino,” you said through a sigh. He shook his head, laughing in disbelief himself “Wait, where are we? We have to go and find someone,” you sat up frantically, trying your best to scramble to your feet when you were hit with a wave of vertigo.
“Woah, are you okay?” Peter pulled you back down next to him on the back, his eyebrows furrowed in worry. The two of you had just survived an attack from a Tyrannosaur, living to tell the tale. Luckily, each of you only had minor injuries.
A smile broke out across your face as you nodded, “I’m fine,” you said, and you meant it. Miraculously, both of you were fine, “We’re fine.”
You brushed the wet strands of hair off of Peter’s forehead to reveal a small cut along his hairline caked in dried blood. Peter’ cheeks turned red and a small smile made its way to his face as he as he closed the gap between you and pressed a kiss to your lips. You couldn’t help but smile when the two of you broke apart.
“What was that for?” you asked, your cheeks red. It was unexpected considering the circumstances, but you couldn’t help but smile giddily and feel the butterflies flapping in your stomach as you thought about it.
Peter looked over his shoulder when the two of you heard shouts coming from the tree line and he helped you up, suddenly not so nervous anymore, “I-uh,sorry. I mean, we just escaped the clutches of a Tyrannosaurus. I thought it was about time,” he said quietly. You had to laugh as you jumped up.
“No, no. It’s fine, well more than fine. I...,” you took his hand and pulled him with you, the two of you shouting back at the calls of your names, “Come on.”
Tony jumped off of the back of a four wheeler, running to you at lightning speed, “Jesus Christ, I thought you were goners. Are you okay? You’re both bleeding? Why are you soaking wet?” he was trying to keep a level head and clear mind, but he was freaking out. Natasha jumped off of the four wheeler and tossed her oversized scarf at Peter and her jacket at you. You gratefully accepted it and draped it across your shoulders before Tony enveloped you into a hug, “I’m so glad you’re alright.”
“You literally won’t believe it,” Peter said, throwing his hands up as he jumped on the back of the four wheeler, his shoes sloshing water around. Everyone seemed to laugh at this; they couldn’t believe they were going to a Dino Park yet there they were, “We were running from this dinosaur and it had crashed our sphere and glass was everywhere and,” you laughed as his voice seemed to disappear with the wind as the two four wheelers took off back to the hotel.
You swung your legs off of the back of one, Tony and Steve talking in hushed whispers before starting the vehicle, “Peter saved me,” you said with a smile. Even if it had been a group effort, the dinosaur was terrifying, Peter grounded you. You probably wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for him.
Tony looked back at your day-dream filled expression and grimaced, “Let’s get the hell off of this island.”
