gerry never wanted gertrude’s job. he’s perhaps the last person she would have chosen as her replacement. how serious would things have to get for him to sign a contract anyway?

Man oh mAn most recent chapter. Too many thoughts. I think I really liked this convo between Pharos and Annabelle so much because I feel like a big part of the Fear of the early seasons of TMA proper was that you could be in the right place, right time, with all the information and it still wouldn’t necessarily be enough to stop whatever horrors befell you. The end of the last season with the attempt at a mystery and making a big show of “am I manipulating you or not” I feel like detracted from the tragedy of it all. This sets it up so well. Laid bare, here’s all the info. It’s gonna hurt, and not just you. Even with all of the information, even knowing the end, Orpheus would still look back. And That is the tragedy and I feel like you NAILED it with that last scene

ahhh, thank you so much for this message? that's exactly what i was going for with the tragedy angle here, i've been setting that up since the beginning because gerry as archivist almost Sounds like "oh, they'll stand a better chance because he knows better right out of the gate!" wrong! very deeply wrong! no one stands a chance as archivist, not really. this Was doomed from the start. i write recovery stories and there Will be an epilogue of course there will but the end of the final chapter is going to be almost pure tragedy because that's what i wanted when i went into tma in the first place that's what i didn't feel like i fully got out of the end of it and like. obviously my story is not better than canon LMFAO but it's still fun to try and scratch the itch a little bit! and i'm really flattered that you got the feeling i was trying to put out there with that last scene in particular, the just. inevitability of this. how fighting it was never really an option. how they have limited options now, but annabelle has deigned to give pharos the tiniest gift of confirmation that his belief that he can save gerry somehow is possible. is it? we'll see. but i like to think they were as honest with each other as they've ever been with anyone.

my favorite part of @gerrydelano‘s two ships passing chapter nine was when jon got to play the part of florence in his theatre group’s production of chess and be happy for once in his life :) 

and here’s the text i used since it’s kind of difficult to read in the image:

"I think his first thought would be taking the letter that he was reading and straight up just booking it back into the tunnels? melanie had already pulled it out of jon's hands and he was still reading so it wouldn't immediately stop it but his hope would probably be that the combination of getting it away from the panopticon, the obfuscation of the eye in the tunnels, and the stranger being so antithetical to the eye would lead jon to losing the words before it finishes. whether or not it would have worked, who knows!"

so not as drastic as bad end pbr because there's less Confusion in the air but he still would have tried!

ren voice WELL. he's doing. Much

they're not a circus, he's technically part of nikola's unseelie court, but his warlock patron........ is lye. he made a pact with her to protect him and keep him from being just Eaten or Whatever Else They Do In The Unseelie Court Holy Fuck because she took a liking to him and eventually wanted to assimilate him into their side of things somehow.

the first time they find him, they don't even know it. martin talks with this random fey and he's so focused on saying the right things and not getting Gotten that he doesn't even process that it's him (and to he fair he hasn't seen him in almost a decade). the next time they find him, a whopping five years later, he's with lye and it goes about as well as you'd expect. we are still working out how they'd manage to trick her into releasing his name but once that happens Oh Boy does she go full beast mode. it's terrifying. even danny is actually scared of her for once. she chases them a while and eventually they manage to "lose" her but boy does she come back. multiple times.

but now he has pointy ears and doesn't appear to have aged a day and it's extremely unnerving for everyone who knew him. they treat him like he's like 18 still and he's SO pissed about it because he is literally 26. treat me like an adult already. (chilchuck moment). until one day he gets cornered when they're attacked by some bandits and he rips ones throat out with his scary teeth mode and he makes alligator hissing sounds and they're all like Well! I Guess He Can Take Care Of Himself After All! Hm!!!!

there's a lot of Jon Plot that overtakes the middle of the story so we lose a bit of danny specific stuff aside from small moments and whatnot but he and martin do manage to form a relationship eventually which is kind of hilarious this time because ngl like. martanny would never work in a pre-circus world. martin could never keep up with pre-ptsd danny. me and ren talked about this at Length last night so i'll cut it short and say it's almost dependent on danny needing to narrow himself and seek stability which martin, as a redemption paladin in this, can still offer even though it's in a very different way than PBR. it takes them FOREVER to get there, and for good reason. and when danny inevitably outlives everyone he ends up going back to the feywilds for a hot minute and just pops out to keep an eye on the next generation and be everybody's mysterious cryptid fairy godguy.
