you sat down on a park bench, the skies were overcast followed by a constant wind.

it had been a little less than a month since you and colby brock had broken up. the breakup had been mutual, you wanted to transfer to a graduate school in new york but he wanted to stay in LA. although this was the first time you’d be seeing each other in person since you broke up.

you had texted last night and asked him if he wanted to meet you at the boardwalk you both often went to tomorrow. he had agreed, saying how it would be nice to see you again.

there was no denying you missed colby. you had spent every second awake reminiscing about your time together. listening to john lennon while cleaning up from the party the night before, helping film and edit for his and sam’s youtube channel for hours on end, and sitting together; talking on the very same bench you were sitting on right now.

so you patiently waited, you were ecstatic to see him again. although you both didn’t speak much since the breakup you never felt like you weren’t friends. he had told you he would always continue to support you as a friend.

you checked your phone to see if colby had texted or tried calling you at all, with no new messages. you tried to call him, being almost twenty minutes since you planned to meet, just for it to go to voicemail. with each minute passing you felt your heart and stomach sink deeper and deeper.

it had nearly been an hour before the overcast sky turned into a grey gloom. thousands of raindrops began to fall as quickly as the thoughts running through your head. you tried texting sam to see if everything was alright, to not get a response from him either.

standing up in your now drenched clothes, not even caring about how uncomfortable you had actually felt in them. you started to walk back to your car with the tears falling down your face being unnoticeable due to the rain.

you didn’t understand why he hadn’t shown up, had he forgotten? certainly not, it wasn’t like him to forget plans ever. you unfortunately knew something was an issue when sam wouldn’t even text you back.

colby stood up from the bench had been sitting at, forgetting his phone in the car. he hadn’t known how long he had been waiting, but long enough for the weather to change. he was awfully disappointed after you hadn’t shown up, hoping you were at the least okay.

he eventually retrieved his phone, letting his own heart drop into his stomach looking at a few missed calls and texts from you and sam asking where he was. he felt absolutely awful, not knowing how to reply to you.

so he didn’t reply, letting tomorrow never come.

for the next chapter in my fanfic i was thinking of having reader's friends find out that she's pregnant. i quickly sketched out a little reaction from them because i'm having too much fun curating the drama 🤭
